Dave Bratt Weighs in on Larry Summers' Latest Comments

"Out there called Larry summers who is rather outspoken when it comes to what's happened in the last year and a half in America and we have our eminence Greece when it comes to the national economy. He is the dean of the business school at Liberty University. Dave brat from a congressman from Virginia. I'd like you to react to this rather outspoken little clip from Larry summer, play cut. We basically had inflation under control for 40 years, despite the fact that the price of oil fluctuated despite the fact that there were all kinds of supply shocks. We lost the thread along with many other countries. About a year and a half ago with massively expansionary policies, relative to the size of the GDP gap, he's not backing down, Dave, I think he's going to be deported off Martha's Vineyard as well. So give us your reaction to that little clip. Yeah, well, he is a genius intellectually, right? Larry sorry, he's ahead of Harvard and the head of the World Bank for a while. All these kind of things. He's got the pedigree. He's got the brain. He can write the top journal articles and all that. But what's noticeably striking about that clip is that it's really the first time he mentioned the fiscal overreach on the stimulus. All these guys kind of wait until the obvious, right? So now the shoe has dropped. Markets are freaking out. England had Armageddon and would have had a sovereign debt crisis yesterday. If they wouldn't have weighed in on the long term, whatever they call them over there, bonds. The bonds. And so it's good he's saying it. The left still isn't saying it. He's

"And now there is a bill that is going through the Congress through the National Assembly. It's called the expropriation Bill. And the expropriation Bill by and large says that under certain circumstances, the government. So not just private gangs, but the government can come to you and confiscate your land without compensation. And this is now become the hub of the controversy. Why? Because the constitution of South Africa would seem to prohibit that. Now, by the way, in constitutions and this is true also in the laws of the United States and the laws of other Western countries, the government is allowed eminent domain. Eminent domain means the government has some legitimate need for land. Let's just say, for example, that it needs the land to build a new highway or needs the land for some legitimate government purpose. The government is allowed to take the land. Now it has to do so lawfully and it has to pay compensation to the person who owns that land, you can't just seize their land and give them nothing in return. But this is exactly what the South African government is trying to do. They're trying to pass a law that not under all conditions but under some conditions would allow the government itself to take your land and give you nothing in return. Now, the minority parties in South Africa and by the way, South Africa isn't just a black and white society. There are so called colored people in South Africa as indeed in other parts of Africa. Now the colored people are typically Asians. There's a fair number of Asian Indians who are in South Africa. Now some of them have some of them have left after apartheid because they realize that they themselves might become targets of the black majority government. So as many Indians have left South Africa, but some, of course, remain some are in the government. And so the minority parties are protesting and saying in effect that this is this law is unconstitutional. That yeah, the South African constitution can be changed, but like the American constitution is not that easy to change, and it would need most likely the consent of the minority parties. So instead of trying to change the constitution, what's going on is the ruling government is doing kind of what the left likes to do in this country sometimes, which is to try to achieve a constitutional result without taking the trouble to try to amend the constitution. By using either by just passing a law with a simple majority and acting as if by passing a law you have de facto amended the constitution. Well, things don't really work that way. And so I'm kind of hoping that what happens is that the South African high court steps in, strikes down this law. The law hasn't actually fully passed. It hasn't gone through all the stages. It's apparently now being reviewed. By the so called National Council of provinces, but the minority parties are right. This a will lead to capital flight people leaving South Africa, by the way, some people have already left.

Our startup through nj IT is called ocular motor technology. We create virtual reality, vision therapy in a head mounted display. So it's gaming and basically sugarcoating the therapy so that children and young adolescents don't even realize they're doing therapy. To accomplish this, we need biomedical engineers, which are here in on GIT campus, a computer scientist, artists, people that are into story development, and then we are collaborating with a lot of the large pediatric medical centers. Why Has the American Media Sunken so Low?

"Little black, you made a very interesting statement in the first segment that for some reason in the British political scene in the mainstream media there and in Canada, they haven't resorted as yet to the slur of calling somebody a Nazi, why is it as a historian of American politics? Why have we sunk in so low here that in the last 6 years, that has become the epithet of choice for anyone who is a conservative? This is something that I think would require to answer it with a third, a great deal of sophisticated sociological analysis, but shooting from the hip. I think at least part of the answer is that the arrival of Trump and the Trump phenomenon, the exposure of the vulnerability of the political establishment, the sort of bush McCain Obama Romney group think that in post rig and in the post Reagan era. To control everything in Washington, everything politically in the country. The fact that it was overturned and almost completely crushed in one blow in 2016 and is still fighting for its light. And not all that successfully on the current appearances. So shock the political establishment in the U.S. including the national political media that had made it an irresistible temptation for great many completely simple minded people who are happy to pedal sheer fiction anyway, no matter how malicious and unfounded it is

Are the Good Guys Winning Again? Lord Conrad Black Explains

"As if we've had an intermezzo a little hiatus in conservative successes, especially with what happened in 2020 with the elections here in America. But it looks as if given Sweden given Italy that the good guys are winning again. Is it too early to say that? I don't think so. I don't think so. The 2020 election obviously is a special case. I mean, despite the frenzied and it must be said, somewhat successful efforts of a unanimous national political media to maintain the pretense. There's no possible question about that election. It is clear as we get close to the midterms that approximately half the people suspect that it was a cooked result. At least in part. And so we will never know. You can't change presidents now, but that was just a very unusual election in a pandemic with a lot of new and easily abused rules of voting and vote counting. So it doesn't really stand there as a turning point in ideological or policy terms. But the rest of the trend, I think, is fairly clear. You have a movement to the right within the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom. Gains for the right and the recent French elections and the incumbent reelected government of president Macron moving somewhat to the right within the spectrum to accommodate that. The election in Italy, the election of a distinctly more conservative leader of the opposition in Canada. And as far as we can tell, you don't want to be premature, but the polls on balance coming up to the midterms do show a trend somewhat towards the Republicans. So

"Favorite websites during election season. I must go to it 5 times a day is RealClearPolitics dot com. It's fair, it's transparent. They have all the latest polling all the latest trends and they have this great aggregation of articles on both sides where you can really kind of see where the zeitgeist is leaning. With us right now is the man behind RealClearPolitics, Tom Bevin, and Tom, please unmute yourself on the Zoom. That's what my team is telling us. And once you do that, whether they hear you, Tom, how are you doing? I'm great. Great to be with you, Charlie. I understand you recovered from COVID. I hope you're doing okay. I'm okay. Good. Back. So Tom, you and I have spent some time together hunting pheasants. That was a little while ago before the world totally fell apart. What do you see in some of the polling that you're aggregating on your great website RealClearPolitics dot com? Well, I think the probably the most interesting and relevant thing is the generic congressional ballot, right? That is how we get a sense of where the public is in terms of their feeling towards both parties. And it's the question that pollsters ask, you know, if the election were held today, would you vote for the Democrat or the Republican? And no names attached. And so, you know, we don't have any polling in a lot of these House races, right? So this will give you a sense of which way the electric is leaning. Now, Democrats had been trailing in this in the spring. They made a recovery, took a lead in the generic ballot over the summer, but just in the last round of polling. So in the last few days, the latest round of polling shows Republicans pulling back into a lead in the generic ballot by about a point. Now, why is that important? Democrats traditionally sort of underperform the generic ballot. They need to have a lead in the generic ballot. And the reason for that is because demographically all across the country, they're clustered in urban areas. They're not well dispersed as a party. And so these are all national polls. So, you know, they tend to underperform particularly in swing states swing districts. And so

"Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening? There's a single answer to all these questions. Because it defines us because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us now is an enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity. That's right. That's exactly right. I wrote about 20 years ago, if not longer, I wrote about that. This defines the left people with no religious or national identity, hate people with a religious or national identity. George Soros is the perfect example, George Soros has no identity, none. They don't even want people to any longer have male or female identity. It's called assigned at birth. Not so long ago, people wouldn't dare to be seen without a hat on in public. More than a fashion statement hats have identified our status our military ring and even our religion. Think Quaker hat or the stovepipe kind worn by president Lincoln. These days, most people love the vintage styles of a pork pie or a bowler. Be bold enough to try something new and you may never have a bad hair day again. On national felt hat day, sport your own style, whether you're mad as a Hatter or conservative as a cloche. Why are there so many different pasta shapes? You might think it's silly to make a fuss over such things. But to the Italians, everything has a reason. Some pastas like fettuccine are flat and broad and made for holding cream sauce. Others like spaghetti are rounded in shape and perfect for tomato based sauces, and the best of both worlds is the elliptical shape of linguini, which means little tongues. For the people of Genoa, linguine is a 400 year old tradition. The region also boasts its pesto and seafood. We find it best not to argue with tradition. On national linguine day, let these little tongues loose, and don't forget to clam up. Hey, marlowe, are you a big fan of linguine with clam sauce? Well, not so much. I think, you know, with all those little tongues sticking them out with me. With the clam sauce, I just don't get it. They should put those little tongues used with gravy. While it may sound preposterous today, this amendment was 80 years in the making. If you take into account that the seeds of unrest were sown in the early 1800s. That's when lucretia Mott, Elizabeth cady Stanton, along with Martha Wright, Mary Anne McClintock, and Jane hunt set in motion plans for the first women's rights convention in Seneca falls, New York. After being denied access to the antislavery convention in London. Today we celebrate national women's equality day and the 100 years of progress we've made since the Nineteenth Amendment was passed. Over 15,000 years ago, early humans domesticated wolves and created a friendship that has stood the test of time. Since then, dogs have proven to be loyal, friendly, and hardworking to boot. Northern canine represents these traits better than the film star lassie. While this collie was first played by a pedigree female, she refused to swim in the river and was replaced by a male dog named pal. Since then, all 9 lassie's have been male and all of them descendants of pal. It turns out that male colleagues don't lose their coats as often as females, and are therefore more suited to their movie close ups. A national dog day, celebrate your own furry friends who are awfully glad that you're in their pack. Sounds like that lassie star knew what she was doing. I'm not swimming in the river. You go swim in the river. That's right. She made a lot of progress for Hollywood females. That's right. Kind of blown away that 100 years. Right? It is crazy. I'm Anna deavere. I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we celebrate every day. See you tomorrow.

Not only are they a popular fruit, blueberries are one of the healthiest things you can eat. This super food provides more antioxidants than almost any other fruit or vegetable, and has been linked to reducing cholesterol. And while you could go on and on, the fact is blueberries are just plain delicious. There's a reason why these juicy berries get a whole month of celebration. You don't hear people getting excited about broccoli season. During national blueberry month, check your local farmer's market for this super snack or better yet. Find a patch and pick your own. Flavored sugar water in a plastic tube hardly sounds like a crowd pleaser, but on a hot summer day, there are few things better than a freezer pop. These frozen treats have been around since the 1960s and are a staple for kids around the world who want to stay cool. Flavor ice is the most popular brand, but you may also know them as otter pops, freezes, or even super duper. And if you happen to live down under, you probably don't celebrate your super duper till December. When it's summertime in Australia. In fact, you might even leave a few out for Santa. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found a tiny bear cub, hanging onto the top of a charred tree. Rangers took him in and nursed him back to health and gave him a name. Smokey bear. This little guy became a mascot for the United States forest service, as well as the face of fire prevention and forest conservation. When he passed away in 1976, his remains were returned to the mountains where he'd been rescued so many years before. There's even a smokey bear historical park built in his honor. On national New Mexico day, we celebrate the land of enchantment and all its citizens even the four legged ones. Countries around the world have their own distinct take on alcohol. Russia has vodka. Japan has sake, and here in the United States, we have bourbon. It's widely believed that whisky can only be considered bourbon if it comes from Kentucky. That's not true. But there are some specific legal requirements for every alcohol that wants to be labeled bourbon. First, the grains used to produce it must be at least 51% corn. And it must also be aged in charred oak barrels. The aging process is what gives bourbon its distinctive taste. And if you're an aficionado, you already know this makes all the difference in the world. On national bourbon day, enjoy a glass of this distinctly American drink. For example, a bouquet containing verbena is asking for your prayers, a bouquet with yellow tulips is saying that the sender loves your smile and bird's foot trefoil means as someone is looking for revenge. But the most timeless symbol of choreography is the red rose. It symbolizes romantic love in its purest form. Henri Matisse once said, there is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose because before he can do it, he has to first forget all the roses that were ever painted. On national red rose day, give someone you love a subtle hint with a bouquet of these classic blooms. What am I supposed to do with these Venus flytraps I got for you now? Don't send them to me. Well, it's part of choreography, right? You get the message I'm sure. Stopping it at a convenience store is typically about two things getting gas or buying stacks. And many times that snack is a bag of jerky. Jerky. This food once served an important role in global exploration, especially in cold climates. Fur traders in Canada used jerky and other dried foods because the fresh stuff was often in short supply. Expeditions to the north and south poles carried a type of jerky called pemmican because it weighed less and took up less space in their packs. Plus, it had good nutritional content, perfect for sustaining the explorers on their long tracks. On national jerky day, celebrate this delicious snack that can keep you going on your local expeditions. Pemmican. Mmm um. I don't know how to answer this. I'm Anna deavere. I'm Marlo Anderson. Centuries before the pony express delivered messages across the American West, the chassis connected cities across the Incan empire. The differences that the chassis did it on foot. Using a series of relays, these messengers sprinted through what is now Peru and Chile carrying messages from one end of the empire to the other. Some days, runners could cover up to a 150 miles. If that sounds impressive, consider that the chassis were doing it in one of the highest mountain ranges in the world. On national running day, lace up your sneakers and get your heart racing. Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were what you might call frenemies. They were very close as they worked on the Declaration of Independence, but had a big falling out after the presidential election in 1800 for the next 12 years, they didn't speak. But when a mutual friend died in 1813, Jefferson wrote a letter to tal Adams, the bad news. Adams wrote back to say thank you and shared some of his memories. They slowly rebuilt their friendship over the next 13 years, corresponding until the day they died. And ironically, they passed on the same day, July 4th, 1826. On national pen pal day, take some time to reach out to a friend or strike up a correspondence with someone new. Man, imagine falling out over politics. I can't imagine that. "Welcome to April 25th, 2022 on the national day calendar. Today we celebrate ringing up old friends and weird science. The first call ever made on a telephone lasted only a couple of seconds. Anna, can you hear me now? Yes. But the duration didn't matter to its inventor Alexander Graham bell, who was ecstatic that his device worked. But he would have positively freaked out if he witnessed the call between two Harvard University students in 2012. Eric Brewster and Avery Leonard spoke on the phone for a record setting 46 hours, 12 minutes and 52 seconds. So what were they talking about? Everything. It was part of an art installation, and by the time the call was over, it's safe to say they were probably ready for lots of silence. On national telephone day, celebrate by ringing up an old friend to catch up. We've all heard stories about children switched at birth, but this story takes the cake. When Lydia Fairchild, a pregnant mother of two found herself in an economic pinch, she decided to apply for government assistance. Imagine her surprise when a DNA test revealed that her children were not her own. She was so upset by the implications of fraud that she asked for a government witness to be present at the birth of her third child. Now, here's where it gets strange, and immediate tests of the newborn confirmed that the child was not Lydia's either. This case had experts sold baffled until science determined that Lydia was a chimera. She herself had absorbed her own twin while developing in utero and it was her twins DNA that showed up during testing. A national DNA day, celebrate the weird science that may only reveal one piece of the truth. Weird. It's just weird. Can you imagine? No. I can't imagine that. Yes. I'm Anna de vere. Because of its busy port, Philadelphia was one of the fastest growing cities in the American colonies, as the population grew, so did the need for medical care. Enter Benjamin Franklin. In addition to all his inventions and political influence, Franklin helped create America's first public hospital, along with the first hospital pharmacy. At the time, medicine was shipped in from Great Britain, so when the war of independence began, drugs were in short supply. As a result, the role of the pharmacist became much more important, they found homeopathic remedies for their patients, which helped shape the future of medicine in the United States. On national pharmacist day, we celebrate the men and women who continue to shape our healthcare system. Country captain is a chicken curry dish with a long association to the American south, but just when did this marriage of exotic spices and humble chicken take place? We know that Britain's longtime presence in India gave them a taste for curry's spicy mix of cumin, coriander, Ginger garlic, and turmeric. Country captain was served aboard British trading ships with the word country referring to things indigenous to India. This food sailed west to the ports of Charleston and Savannah and eventually became a favorite of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and general George Patton. It was even added to the United States Army's field ration menu because Patton loved it so much. A national curried chicken day, we celebrate the culinary union that has lasted for ages. In the world of dogs, some come with pedigrees and champion bloodlines that win dog shows time and again, and others are, well, mutts. Unlike their pure bred cousins, mutts are what Bob Ross would call happy little accidents. I have to give a shout out today to my adorable cheeser. Fritters are synonymous with comfort and coming three types. The basic do kind, the battered meats and vegetables, and the small cakes made from chopped foods such as corn. Fried food and oil has been around for thousands of years, and almost every culture has a tasty version. The technique for batter frying, however, was introduced by the Spanish and Portuguese in the late 16th century. This culinary inspiration spread to Japan where it became known as tempura. Today, just about anything can be frittered from beignets to squash blossoms. And of course, there's always good old apple. On national fritters day, celebrates your favorite comfort food, no matter what language you speak. They're so good. Apple corn. Tomorrow, we launch national cookie cutters week. In 1950, he created the pan in his Minnesota based Nordic ware company for a local women's group who wanted to bake a traditional kugel hop or ring shaped cake. Naming the pan for the German word for Bond, dalquist added the tea to the end of bund and patented the pan in a stroke of foresight genius. At first, the pan did not sell well and Nordic wear considered discontinuing it. Then in 1966, the pan was used to create the tunnel of fudge cake in a Pillsbury bake off that inspired baker's everywhere. Over 200,000 orders for the pan streamed in and over 60 million have been sold to date. On national bunt day, celebrate the bond of baking with your own family. Giving back to the community is important, and no one did that quite like Andrew Carnegie. As a child, he and his family emigrated to the United States from Scotland, and he got a job as a bobbin boy at a cotton mill. Decades later, he became a railroad and steel tycoon, who had amassed one of the largest fortunes of all time, adjusting for inflation, he was worth over $350 billion. Wanting to leave the world a better place, Andrew set up pensions for his employees, gave donations that built universities, museums, and nearly 3000 public libraries. "Welcome to November 4th, 2021 on the national calendar. Today we celebrate a prehistoric fruit and the sweet invention born of necessity. Figs are an interesting fruit. They've been around a long time, like a really long time, about a 100 million years ago. Fig trees were on earth at the same time as dinosaurs. Humans began cultivating them in the Middle East as the first civilizations grew across the region, when they made their way to Greece, figs became a staple of diets. This is also true for Italy, Spain and northern Africa. Fig trees were planted across California by the missionary father junipero Serra, and today the state produces a 100% of the figs consumed in the United States. And if you're not sure how to enjoy this mesozoic fruit, there's always the fig Newton. During national fig week take a fresh look at the fruit that outlived the dinosaurs. They say that necessity is the mother of invention and in the case of Eminem's candy, this phrase is certainly true. This candy was created in 1941, and during World War II Eminem's were exclusively sold to the military. Their small size and candy coating made them the perfect candy for military rations. They were easy to transport, and the candy coating prevented the chocolate from melting. When soldiers returned home, they were hooked and wanted more. So the Mars company made them available to the general public. Soon, other companies made a knockoff version, and Mars had to markets candy coated chocolates with the trademark M that we still see today. On national candy day, treat yourself to something to make your day a little sweeter. Who doesn't love M and ms? Peanut or plain. Peanuts. Peanut of course. I would like almond. They make them. They do make those John. Why have I never seen this? Not sure. Hey, tomorrow is national love your red hair day. I know. My one air. I managed to be here. "Welcome to October 16th, 2021 on the national day calendar. Today we celebrate sweet rewards and healthy competition. National sweetest day encourages everyone to be generous, even in the smallest ways. From its inception is candy day in 1916, this day reminds us that even small tokens improve the lives of those around us. And if you're so inclined, you can spread this sweetness around during the rest of the month, as it's also national dessert month and national caramel. Remember it's sweetest day we have to be generous, Marla. Oh, it's still caramel, John. It is caramel. I know. Everyone can use an extra dose of sweetness right about now, whether it's a drizzle of caramel. Caramel. Or a small card or phone call on national sweetest day, take care of all those who need extra attention. Guys. And caramel. Organized sports were introduced to the world at the first Olympic Games in ancient Greece. The first events were based on training for war and hunting, races, wrestling, jumping, and javelin throwing. And that's a good thing, because it became a way of life for people to prove who was better and hash out differences without hurting one another with weapons. Sports are cathartic and bring people together. You can see it at most amateur and professional sporting events. Athletes scream and y'all and try to beat their opponents. But when the game is over, they congratulate one another. They laugh. They shake hands and hug. Because in the end, we're all human, and that's what counts. On national sports day, celebrate the spirit of friendly competition. Caramel. Caramel. Yes. Saw that coming. It's a sport now. Wow, you can't even give it to me on sweetest day. Hey tomorrow, it's national pasta day. We won't argue with the pronunciation of that. No. No, it's good pasta. I'm gonna de beer. I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we celebrate every day. While hot chocolate has been around in one form or another for thousands of years, it's believed that chocolate milk came from 17th century Jamaica. Surhan Sloan and Irish botanist was given a post here to serve an English duke. While mixing with the locals, he discovered a drink made of cocoa and water that he described as nauseating by substituting milk for the water, he created a much smoother concoction that he later brought to the apothecaries in Europe, where it was used as a medicine.
