"It's 17 14, I don't like pulling him in that spot. I said that if the score was 28 to 14 Would you have been OK going to Nate's son felt Probably not. Just because again, Nathan Nate, something teaches you 1 to 14. Made maybe, like, Mae doesn't get hurt. Maybe see, I think the score does matter here, and I also think if this was a one o'clock game messed him a CBS. Not many people are talking about it Since it was the stand alone final game of the season, that this factor into the conversation Now let me ask you this. If you were an Eagles fan Would you rather have seen Jalen hurts on the field last night at the expense. You win the game. You still not in the playoffs because you already eliminated And that means you get the ninth pick instead of the six pick. It's I guess it's easy for me to say because not needles fans about the six pick. I would rather see. Joan hurts. Play well and finish strong. You've gotta have like candy. You gotta figure out the quarterback situation. And if he finishes strong, Gijs, so look forward to in 2021. That's fair. Personally If I'm an Eagles fan, and I saw many of my social media last night In the first quarter get hurts out of the game. Take a knee. Go home. Lose the game. Get the six pick. So that's just the disconnect right now that we have in sports, some people, never. They watched their team play. They want to see him win. Others say, Let's think about the future and go for the six pick instead of going for the ninth pick. The biggest issue here. And I keep on saying this and I'll say to get us on a broken record player. When we think teams they're tanking in the past, and this is why this has become now such a big issue. We look at those teams tanking. And we know that the coaches air trying to win in the players are trying to win. It's the front office that puts him in a terrible spot. A Jacksonville was trying to win games. The Jets were trying to win games. They were just not in a position until the Jets of that the end of the season to win games. This was the first time last night. Where I said, wow, that coach didn't want to win the game. And that's where people have a great with that, and I understand that. And also is it fair to also say? Is this even dug Peterson's call. Could Doug have been told by Jeffrey Lori who There's been a lot of talk about how much power and he's the owner of the team, but how he's trying to assert his power. Howie Roseman. Same stuff. Was there, talk from Hallie. The dog. This is what we're doing. And guess what? I'm buddy buddy with Jeffrey. Even though I can't drop the wide receiver. I'm still here. My office got moved. I got embarrassed when Chip Kelly was here. They still rehire me. I want a Super Bowl. We're gonna do this my way. I wonder how much that factored in. So there's many things here's the bottom line will say about this. Don't think Doug Peterson was trying to win the game last night. I don't like that He wasn't trying to win the game last night. However, I understand and I would have approached the different I just wanted to play. Jalen hurts. I understand. Wanting the six pick instead of the ninth pick. And South pal Antonio stop with this investigation seriously, if Roger Goodell is the worst investigator ever Comes down and says all the up. We found out the Eagles were tanking. What do you punishing them for? Not any time. A team we think is trying to lose the game. We're going to take away a draft. Pick her find them. It's It's such. There's so much hogwash today that I've heard on the airwaves about this. You could be upset. Whenever you're upset about something we don't need to see drastic changes. I've heard these drastic changes now we should have a draft lottery in the NFL. Now I'm not a fan of that. Or here's the other one. If a team is below 500, we shouldn't allow him into the playoffs. Then why have divisions? I'm not saying I like when, uh seven when team gets into the postseason. We have those seen before about Seahawks team get in. They beat science. We've seen before Back Carolina Team 78 and one Ron Rivera, by the way. Two teams. Seven wins. I get into the playoffs, they want to play off game. It doesn't happen every year. And anyone that's complaining. About Washington may be getting in. Well, we also just add another playoff spot. We're in the agency. It's working. Cause we had a 10 20 not get in in the NFC. The Bears are eight and eight. So the Bears get in. Do I want to see the bears in the postseason? No. And the Bears beat the same person. I don't think they will. However, is Tonio Illinois, told us last week any given Sunday Anything could happen any given Sunday. We now need to change the playoff rules because the bears got in and ate and ate at the Bears were seven and nine. We have to change the playoff rules. No. There's gonna be some years where the answer. He has an 11 when team attend when team squeezed out of the postseason happened to my patriots back in 2008. Give the other years because of adding an extra playoff spot where eight win or seven win team gets into the postseason. Stop with all this. We must change. We must change. We must change. Why do we have to change the NFL system? The draft system. Why do we have to change ever below 500 team gets in the postseason. Who got screwed in the NFC because Washington's going to the playoffs. And because the Eagles wanted to be the six best team or the six worst team compared to 19. Does anyone saying that they're that upset about what the Eagles did and I get, there's a difference in approach. His teams are trying to win. They're just not good enough to win, and then the Eagles were intensely trying to lose. If you were in that spot..

"From the media side. Player side. Fan side. On the media side. Some media get it. What the Eagles were doing. Some media don't like it, That's fine. Of South pal Antonio. Basically all he said today on Dan Patrick show was your only sacrifices I had to make this year to go cover a game. And I had to wear a mask everywhere and you had all this testing. So I guess what Sal was basically saying Woz. How many people that have sacrificed this year for this to be the last game? For the people that showed up and opened. All the players have had to go on through. This year as well that the players on the field to at least be put in a position to win. Taking Jalen Hearts. He's right on that. Taking Jalen hurts off the field. Ruin the eagle's chances of winning that game. So could they have approached the better? Yes, Eagles, also arresting a bunch of starters as it was. So I could understand why Salis frustrated. And you could be frustrated about it. Personally, I don't like it in the moment and my freaking out and so drastically upset about it today. No At the end of the day. Let me ask you this question to anyone that hates it. First off. Explain to me why you hate it. And second off, would you rather have the six draft pick of the ninth draft pick? So trace. I'll ask you this because I don't know. What side of the fence. You lie on this and you are classified as in the media. So my I'm classified as in the media, But there's different forms of media. There's journalist there's talk show host. There's play by play, guys, and I think Journalist is different from a talk show host. So there's different levels of what Sal Paolantonio thinks that what talk show host thinks in the way that we're supposed to be neutral and or, you know, In this case, we're supposed to give our opinion. Fair unfair, Whatever. Did you? Like what Doug Peterson did in the moment last night. No. Okay, why? Because for me the biggest party for the Eagles this figure out their quarterback situation. Jalen hurts. Carson Wentz are one of them going to be the guy next year? I don't personally think both. Then we'll be back in Philly next year. I just don't think that dynamic was is gonna work. You got to move on either hurts, trade him or Carson went straight home. For me because it's tableside so small, which you'll hurt. You got to figure out where these have every available opportunity to evaluate him now understand? He's well. He wasn't playing well and you take on the fourth quarter's only one court, you can say. What you want to see if Joan hurts, can rally a team and lead a drive in the fourth. Cory's not playing well to try to lead this team to victory. Maybe that changed your outlook on 2020. And maybe it doesn't. But for me, you have to find out every available or have to have every opportunity to find out what you have in the back of quarterback in a young quarterback, That's fine with everything you just said. And when it's 17 14, I don't like pulling him in that spot. I said that if the score was 28 to 14 Would you have been OK going to Nate's son felt Probably not just because again, Nathan Nate said. "Lots and lots of handwashing the minute. Your hand is moving towards your face. It should be washed or given a an alcohol thing. And please please. Please don't use pure as a purple alcohol on your hands you. They'll get dry and cracking. Then you'll be really sad what flattening the curve is really about is by isolating yourself what we can do is we can reduce the amount of people who are being exposed to the virus and as that number goes down it means that they're they're into victory for it to pass through and so the less infections there it means that it. Maine's that we have more time to be able to do this. We have more time. We don't need to panic shop. We just need to be able to get through the next month and the way that we do that is by not hugging not kissing. Not Touching hands not shaking hands and staying home as much as possible. Really we need to be using the mantra. Do I need to leave the House today? And if it means that you are going to go bonkers then go for a walk and go and walk with children in Nature Tammie Brown and walk with added distance. Children have been doing all right. Our children are equally as likely to get infected. It's just that they don't get sick. He's children do people. Children Give Hajra show shoot and you WANNA touch them and I want to hold you little wonderful carriers of viruses and children go to all people and give them kisses. Children go to sick people and give them kisses because they don't understand the concept of that the evil people who are going to get infected. I don't know it's what time seven thirteen. I have no idea whether they've closed the schools impossible but and from a public health perspective. It doesn't necessarily make sense to close the schools but if you if your mother has cancer than I would. Seriously cy does little. Johnny need to go to school or could they do some online learning or something but I think we should be waiting for you. Know the government to tell us to suffice late or to shut down these sort of things. The government will be responsible. We what else. Yeah Yeah yeah the other part of the from what I understand. The cutting of the curve is about the light on the hospitals as well as and so whilst the same amount of people might end up becoming quite ill and it's spread out over a long period of time. It means that we can help them because we won't be. I've really good thing that I saw today. Was you know how this the toilet paper issue? Yo Imagine if it was ventilators six of those or a bed in a hospital. Yeah we currently are going. We're at we're on the tipping point of having a toilet pipe across of beds in hospitals. And if we don't slow this down that's going to be the problem is we're GonNa be Italy where we're having to decide whether or not we let a personally if we're not sure about immunity. We are seeing people who've been tested positive then tested negative and then tested positive again so we can't really guarantee immunity or herd immunity Heller UK. But I think the point of the matter is that the social isolation really means that there's less and less and less virus in the pool. If we look at you equals you like currently Melbourne. We've already made on nineteen hundred ninety targets which means that there's not in the really isn't much HIV virus around to allow infections to happen. And it's GonNa be the sign. We need to consider like consider isolation as you equals. You're being undetectable and staying at home. Is Your treatment you'll treatment. He's staying at home. And that's your prep you'll prep. The card is to stay at home to socially isolate to wash your hands so to use a luke term. I've gone all Nancy drew and last Friday. I thought it was very interesting. So that the state leaders meeting with the Prime Minister for Speak Meeting Daniel. Engines is already hinted at the fact that he thought that we should be shutting down public events. And that was something that we're going to be discussing on the day so then ten minutes before this meeting started. He did a press conference saying that he has cancelled all audiences. Asari audiences at such a theater. Ten spectators at the Formula. One which I think I feel really forced everyone else in that meeting to acknowledge that they have cancelled stuff. And then the announcement of anything five hundred and less but it does feel like a lot of In some states and definitely the federal government. How many dragging their heels? In cancelling major events and and a lot of people a lot of the experts are saying that these limited five hundred people is not enough Some saying it we we should be shutting Baas and and Restaurants like California and New York have just done a lot of other countries have done it. Why is the government dragging their heels. And do you think there should be doing more or are they sort of towing the line pretty well? I think it's a careful balancing game. We don't want people panicking. We've already seen people panicking. I went shopping today and I saw people who panicked and grabbing anything I grabbed the bus palatable stuff that I could find in there and I felt kinda bad that I took an extra campaigns. I I have medical needs and I need eight hundred and I will get us alighted fourteen days now. I live at home by myself. So and I cannot guarantee that ubereats will be delivering when I get I slide. And that's that's terrible news. That's genuine concern. At least eighty percent of my nutrition comes from so if we closed the restaurant another thing. It's a really interesting point. I have a friend that works quite high up neighbor and I've been quite impressed actually with the messaging and stuff that have introduced of having stuff. That's being able to be dropped off your door and that sort of thing but at the end of the day a lot of the restaurants a lot of the local restaurants get this stuff from supermarkets and a lot of them already having to take a lot of stuff off their menu and there are people that are already out lead people and that's the stuff that are more susceptible than relying on on those delivery services. So you'd actually serious. We've had a hype that this flattens out like sucked into all of those assholes who bought excessive amounts of toilet. My cont return it that that is kind of a nice shout in Florida. However it's not really fair because other people need that toilet paper and we saw that with people who are holding moss people will hold a hand sanitizer Senate sizes And that's really really unfair because those are very valuable resource we. We sell a lot of senators products. My work only in recent times but like we were trying to find somebody to buy from and literally one of the goals checked on Ebay and then selling our exact same product that we sell for thirty dollars for a thousand dollars age. Yeah I was just like this is ridiculous like this happening threat freeway. I I saw in my fade today. That like literally as whiting to speak is that they're selling toilet paper for like three dollars. I roll in places in North Korea and yet there's gouging going on and I do hope the government steps in and says this is not acceptable. Such a site but my brother does for a living. He army definitely he makes hence he works factory. I think SEAFORD and with the family of the dam was sort of laughing. I we can see that it's canceled. Ovalles show your. I'll be working very hard for the next month. Canceling events he gets. My Dad manages a pharmaceutical plant. So He's going into overdrive. Mum's a nurse so she's waking every fucking day and my brother. Max Hand Sanitizer so he'll also going to twenty four hours seven days a week now. There's a couple of recipes going around for D. Y. Is Hand sanitizer snaps. So these people for the for being. But it's a little bit if you can get the real thing place. Get the real vm. Because we need that. Sixty to seventy percent awesome purple alcohol. Some of his behind the counter to ISLA. There's a little Aga whereby my cigarettes and does not on the shelf. But I went in US like. How would everyone who watches David? Oberg the one the ideal target like when David Mead videos like what is your ideal audience. It was like Justin Bieber exactly appreciate that kind of humor and has that kind of humor Justin Bieber. I mean in frost was the fucking crossover of the century. Yeah Oh please boy. No listen to me. If you're listening to this podcast if you trust us in our opinions and you still have not gone into David O'Brien by gotten into it. I mean given it a real like the old college. Try a real chance. You're doing yourself a disservice. We get in boxes from. I am not joking. Sixty year old woman saying like kids have been talking about this forever. I never gave it a chance I finally washed. I'm addicted. I'm telling you guys it is so entertaining true or false really true as yep okay. Let's move on degrees anatomy. I know you you were really upset about this. I'm obviously heartbroken. So Justin Chambers who was an original cast member of grain has been on for sixteen seasons announced announced that he is leaving You know he's forty nine years old. which did you know? That's how old are you was No I is Oh my God I had no idea first of all he looks amazing. Amazing second of all the thing happen is that this report breaks right and it's like okay now. Everyone's like great now. They're going to kill them off like another character. That's can be those heartbreaking speaking of soda off prepared about Blah Blah Blah Blah. And then. You're reading the article and it's like his final episode is already aired means. It's just GONNA have to deal with it after the fact like. He recorded the season finale. He was in a we. See how it ends. And that's his last episode. Why right yeah? Well that's why after the first report comes out then page six reported that he was also seeking treatment for Stress Depression and life coaching. So I obviously don't know the details of what happened there but clearly it was something. Yeah there was really. I think that it's part of maybe he's ready to move on. And maybe he's focusing on himself and getting healthy and all of these things but as a grey's anatomy fan. It was so shocking. Because you have to remember. There's the show has been on for sixteen seasons and they're such an attachment to the show and fern original customer. There's so few of laughed and the only original one from that intern team. Obviously it's just like heartbreaking. That was like when you're really invested their show grey's anatomy does friendships cast versus like actual like who's on the show and who their friends in real life or not that's so blurred. Yeah Ellen Pompeo and Justin us in chambers are such good friends in real life and she has spoken about so many times Them being the original turns together still on the show and growing with each other. And whatever that it's it's just like how is this is not your like. How is this going to be the same? She she re tweeted I think. Vanity Fair's article and was like heartbroken by it was like a Vanity Fair. Somebody comedy tweeted. Something like grey's anatomy getting ready for. It's like biggest heartbreak yet and she tweeted like something being true and I was like. Why don't you rip my fucking heart out? It's it's one of those things it's like you want to be. Supportive of your friend. Slash Costa are obviously. He's going through something but also a huge loss. Yeah Hi to you yeah. It's just it's so funny because I had taken a hiatus raise anatomy like I was so into it. I watch whatever and then I kind of fell off of it it and then I recently got back into it and completely back off and I was like I'm so happy I caught up in time for the season like this is amazing. Whatever like fell back in love with crave and then they're like fucking throw this at me? Yeah I wouldn't have caught up. I mean I believe I would have known it with the Lens of so for anybody that was upset by that Julia's but we're also heartbroken. So no you're not alone in that. Yeah okay or we wanted to end the regular section with this because I know that not everybody cares which is why we wanted to put it towards the end but for those of you. That do this. Jeffrey Star Nate break-up rocked my fucking world. Yeah I feel about you about like moving on us. How I'm glad had you brought it up because I have a meeting and talk about the second we should? We should make it to talk about that Okay so let me just just give you a a a second of background just to catch everybody up to speed so last week. Reports began to surface that. Jeffrey and nate have broken up. The reason people were thinking that was the number one because Geoffrey silent on social media and number two for which he never does a number two because he removed wife of Nathan Nate wife of Nathan out of all of his BIOS so people are thinking a couple of things number. One we know Jeffrey's mom has been really sick so it could totally be something in regards to that. We know they've had some family family health issues. They could just be dealing with that. But taking the Nathan's team out of his bio that was when people were like okay. Something's not right here. Also so Nathan had deleted his social media but he did that way before you know it wasn't like he's addressed a lot of people are trying to say he deleted it to dead signed but that wasn't because he has a little while Oh he deleted it a couple Lamont's not that long. I know that because I listened to Jeffrey's podcast episode with Tricia which that was a ride. Like listen to if you really have an hour where you're like I I just want to go into another world right now. I don't want to necessarily learn anything. I don't WanNa be intellectually stimulated. I just WANNA be thoroughly entertained and shocked that is the podcast odd gas for you. I had my mouth open the entire time. It was a ride because they both have no filter bright. Oh my God and they both live in such a world that is so it's like outer space. You can't even imagine what it's like to be either of them for a day for the other thing. I didn't tell you is that Tricia in in addition in addition to because she had a lot of She was very confused about her sexuality. And all these things she also is very attracted to gay. Amen like she always thinks like. I think I want to be with a gay man so Jeffrey is telling her about him made sexual endeavors and she's getting so turned turned on from listening and it was just listening to the dynamic..

"To know what the defense is doing in disguise and then projecting that to what is going to be in reality moment job unscrewed around Bucky Brooks back. We're joined now by Fox. NFL analyst Tj. Who's been Zodda time now for big story? Let's return to Minnesota where Aaron riders and company had no problem taking care of kirk cousins in the Minnesota Vikings last night to clinch the NFC north. Green Bay is now twelve and three and while they haven't gotten as much attention as other teams in the NFC like the saints and the forty niners. They can actually clinch homefield advantage with a win over Detroit and a forty niners loss to the seahawks on Sunday. Aren't the question. Here's our the packers. Will they be the team to beat if they have home field advantage. Oh absolutely if you talk about their homefield record right now being seventy one and then you introduce a team that can travel which play defense run the football but they get to stay at home introduced a real twelve man which are the elements all those coast with a team that run the football and play defense like Eh is going to be tough in the NFC wide open because you fear no team at the top. You don't fear San Francisco. You don't fear New Orleans you don't fear Seattle you. You don't fear Minnesota so if you're a green bay you say bring 'em all through here where we've only had one loss this year playing our style of football and then the extra condiment of Aaron Rodgers going back to vintage year Rogers instead of playing within the system era Rogers which I commend. But if he goes out there and has his individual performance with this team gene. Oh they're going to be tough to be absolutely not. They won't be the team to beat and I say that when play the forty niners earlier this year they lost thirty seven eight. There wasn't even a game. They got destroyed an earlier in the year. And that is not the same thing. If I know the defenses in the same for the packers either because the packers have H.. Inc Threat Nathan nate play well in spurts. But they're not consistent. You're not a consistent defense in you the way. They played last night against Minnesota. If they could do that every week then they would the team to beat but if they're eighteen obviously they cancelled. If you're asking me I believe the saints can go in there and beat them and I believe the forty nine can go in there and beat them. I think this is a weird team for the Green Bay packers because because their record suggested there wanting but I don't think they're dead because I don't know what they're seeing that you win is what does win the missile. Because that's the signature win in con we're talking about the division sixth-seeded sixth seeded team is the signature win. That you have. Yeah I mean like So-so just think when you're looking at the Green Bay packers. I think they have to play a certain way to thing that makes makes them dangerous is number twelve can go off at any time but if you ask me if they're better team than the San Francisco Forty niners no. They're not better than the New Orleans Saints No. I think they're a team that could just necessarily be a one and done out team than a team. That goes all the way. I think right now on Christmasy. They're better than the forty niners. Because I think the forty niners have backed up Jimmy still loose with the football and San Francisco's defense is backed up the best team in the NFC in my opinion is the New Orleans Saints Sean. Payton drew brees their their defense on a mission. However if the Dome team has to go to Lambofield in January that scares me and concerns me as someone that thinks the saints are the best team in the NFC so homefield advantage? I would be critical. Drew brees at his his aide out in those elements. That's a tough scenario. Yeah the forty niners have certainly come back to the pack. Look they're still. I think a tier two team in the NFC in the early star. We knew the record was going to change the week. Eight idiot and they have responded less than compared to their record. So if you look at with the signature win is beaten Casey. Okay whatever you want to say thank you said you'd be Minnesota okay. See I know what you're saying. Okay but TJ. Mr The eighteenth and defense not not really their ninth in scoring defense. That matters more than yards. I'll give how many points we give there's takeaways so this is a defense that stingy at the right times and make sure that they stop. You wanted to get into the red zone. And they're great on running the boss Betsy I down so they're gonNA have a lot of second shorts. What Aaron Rodgers sitting there at home and it's freezing baby snowing? Oh that's tough to beat that. Like the forty niners defense obviously hasn't played as great. But when you look at it they're still the second ranked Defense League shrink offense in the League and so for me you can play. Hey Bat all you want but when the numbers say your defense is the second ranked defense in your offense is a six rain offense. The numbers speak for themselves and their winning games. You'RE NOT GONNA go undefeated to the six rain offense the second best team to beat. It doesn't matter how they play as long as you win a game. That's the team. Jay Don no please he. You're here because of your expertise on football. Oh Bob Yeah not your analysis of numbers now and so again when we're talking about the forty niners. I'm talking about what we've seen here lately from their defense from Jimmy Garoppolo. Look all your VAL Games. You're not every deep. It's a reason why when you don't play well okay. The office will take care of defense in vice versa. That's what happens. I played on a team of Cincinnati. Two Thousand and six. We led the League in forcing turnovers on defense when the playoffs come. You're not gonNA force as many turnovers you. You can't rely on it. You have to play style defense. You can't rely on your defense getting turnovers you gotTa play style. Defense stopped guys. Three and out you you. Can't we now turn. That doesn't happen. I just don't know if I don't know if they can consist in the play this style that they're playing because they've been able to get away with whipping up bad teams with their defense heavy pressure but when teams run it right at the light the San Francisco Forty niners did early in the year. They had a tough time stopping it. I just don't know if those teams New Orleans and San Francisco if they see that they have to travel travel to Green Bay if they're scared to go to Green Bay.

"Such a good night's rest. I don't think they had sleep number of its back there but they didn't have ivory beds. They had some very fine some very expensive bids in that same verson. Amos chapter chapter six and I four the mobile says they were eating the best meat. I were you buying meat. Don't know what the hamburger you buy but these fellows were getting the best and then in Amos chapter six in verse six. He says the people were using oils or perfume and not just the oils or perfume that were available but these were the finest these were the best. It sounds a little bit like modern America doesn't it times are prosperous. People are happy. A lot of Sin Amos came along and said I want you to know that you're not into right relationship with God. Amos as you look at that look. He was a preacher who didn't hold back hold back. He was a fellow who let Adam have it. He laid it on thick thick so to speak after him. We come to a book which begins with Oh. This is a course over diet is another man who do not sins and although opined overnight is short. It's very short book. It has only one chapter it is also a book which stresses the day of the Lord. He wasn't talking about the second coming of cries but he was saying. You're doing some things that are really bad. Your behavior is upset in God and God is going to come and pay a visit to you and judgment is going to fall. He teaches assistant. All nations eventually have their reckoning with gone and our lifetime. We don't have to live very long before we see. Perhaps it individual or maybe a group or maybe even an entire nation gloat when someone has a misfortune and perhaps the person or the nation or the group. They don't like that person but someone has in this fortune people just kind of sit back and say boy. I'm sure I'm happen to them. I knew it was gonNA come. I'm so glad they got their new. If you ever tempted to think that way do that read the book about overnight overnight talks about that very kind of attitude rejoicing at the misfortunes of others and if you feel like at some point in time you're struggling with pride. Go back and read over Diet. It's a good book about pride as well. Once more like Amos it is a great book which has ask so much application when it comes to America. I'm kicking around. I don't know if I'll do this or not. At some point in the future maybe go back and study at least one of the minor prophets. Fitz John had of all the Old Testament books certainly out of all the minor prophets. June is probably the one that's known the best as if you talk to people about Jonah urged you listen to people talk about John. You'll find sometimes people will say oh. We don't believe that man he lived and maybe God did write that book but that's that's that story about him being swelled by great fish and being in there three days coming out of the Great Fish. That's nonsense. Well not a couple of weeks ago if you were here the Jesus in Matthew Chapter Twelve talks about John and he talks about that great fish if you don't believe that Joanna was in that great fish you can't believe where you can't accept the words words of Jesus because Jesus presents the story of Jonah as being historically accurate the story as you go back and you look at Jonah talks about how this prophet of God was told to go and preach now unlike the other prophets that we've been talking about who went to the people of Israel Jonah goes to gentile he goes to the people at minimum the they were not Hebrews and as you perhaps recall from the story is he's headed that way. He doesn't want to go that way so he tries to flee from. God Justice today some try to flee from God but gentleman was loved by God and even though Journal was trying to literally going the other direction. God says I love you and I'm going to do my best to correct you but God's love for the innovates was not limited to them limited to Jona. No it was for all people God. God loves sinners. That's a great lesson from this book as well as other books. You also see as you look at the book of the need for repentance that's found throughout the old attested prophets certainly in that to Mica as you look at Mica thought I had the slide chain everybody in a new slide tonight says Oh. I'm sorry yes correct. Mica Michael was one who predicted that scenario was going to fall as you think back to the kingdoms of Israel and we're talking about the the north and the South Samaria of course was the king the King of was the capital of northern Israel as you look at the book Michael. You have reproof. There's correction just like with the other prophets offense. There's threat this promise when you look at the Prophets Work Mica as you read that book he reminds them of how God had helped them in the past. He reminds them about the knee. The obedient messages that you find elsewhere in Scripture Mica is one good example of how God has called people and call people and call people. He's almost big people to repent. He holds that handout giving them time to change their ways and be saved but oftentimes they don't WanNa do that. Through Mica we have one more example aw of what it means to disobey and paying the price for that in the end of courses we think about people each one has the ability to reject God to obey God and with that that free will they receive the appropriate consequence. That's why the tests impulsively Romans fifteen four we can learn from the Old Testament and that is exactly right Nathan nate whom is next and this is the one that I changed the slide on so Nigga is in trouble with think about going to the city of Benadryl and that's true Jona though was not the only one who was commissioned to pay some attention to the people of men of the prophets generally speaking talked onto the Hebrew people but that was not always the case as you go back and you look at Germany. You have just a general description pretty much the device they were bad people and and if they didn't repent God was going to wipe him out but God said I want you to repent so I'm going to send this property Jona Joni you go to your preach repentance and if the people change okay okay they avert the disaster well. She looked at the book of whom you get some additional information about Nigga. Nathan is more specific event because you start reading through them. It's almost I like you. Get a close up view of the nearby. What were they like. Why was gone so displeased with him. What were the actions which were so offensive to gone that God said I'm I'm ready to just wipe you out. Completely destroy you. Nah Nigga helps us understand why God was so upset with this ancient people they were oppressive. They they were wicked. They were cruel and they were idolatrous. Aback follows Nathan and you look at how back once again this is a very short workbook but it is one of the books that you read and you think wow I can to some degree identify with this guy back was a complainer and not complainer in a bad sense but God had planned and who back as he sees what's happening over here with God's people. He says you know God. You're just kind of letting things slide and why would you do that. Why are you not more active over here. God says a heavy plant well. We're thinking perhaps on what your plan and God says Makati says if Italian this plan it is so marvelous Idia so outrageous if you will God said you wouldn't believe in her back a little bit like job he's trying to understand the inner inter workings of God and he struggles with it just like we sometimes struggle with that but God's working this work. It's going to involve the Babylonians. They're gonNA come against Israel and tobacco point is how can you use this nation which is worse than your people to punish people it. It didn't make any sense to him but this book aside from that is especially noteworthy because it talks about faith about three times and then you have this expression in one form or another the just shall live by faith every time I hear that expression I think back to my time in the military but.

Have a great night you to check in, you know, as he said that here's what I flash to if the idea of this in the New York Times piece that came out five years ago tomorrow that studies show that influences that phantom is influenced by Vincent your childhood in in the story. They quote, one of the doctors say the most important year in a boy's baseball life as right around that age eight if a team wins the World Series, a boy eight increases the probability that he will support the team as an adult, and they talk about the percentages of that happening. I think I was nine and ten when one in seventy five seventy six, but you wanna thought of in present day, if you're talking about anchor moments in kids think of the number of anchor moments offered in the last three. Years FC Cincinnati. The game against Columbus. And the penalty kicks and Mitch Hildebrandt in the saves and the national attention in sportscenter leading with that the next morning and the US open Cup semi-final Maja at nip it in the announcement on fountain square. They were going MLS think of the number of different anchor moments. We know the crowds they've drawn in the first three years think those in terms of Helme kids were offered an anchor moment from FC Cincinnati meaning hook 'em when they're young and turn that into somebody who is becomes the teenager becomes the millennial becomes the adult who's buying season tickets or passing that onto their kids. See what I mean that that chain and how it plays out? That's a team. That's for the the youth offered multiple anchor moments in just three years. Have you been in Madison? A couple of years almost a year and a half plus some working for the center for the study of the upper mid west is that close to being what the title is. It's close I'm affiliated with the center for the study of upper mid western culture based in mills music library, and I am the ethnic American music curator for the university. Okay. And. Mentioned you're still working your dissertation too. That's correct owns the history of country music. Our study of country music in Finland. Yep. And you finish. Yup. I'm finish for us. Keep us. Welcome. And thank you. We did. Of course this summer in upper peninsula, Michigan on Finnish American festivals. And so I got speak use my Finnish language skills a little bit in the upper upper midwest great. You've been a busy man and much of your life, and your somehow you manage to work in the history of the star day records. Yeah. What got you interested in star day? Well, I graduated with a a songwriting degree and nothing to do when I finished my undergrad degree. And so I I had just finished making my first record that was with Kenny Roberts who recorded for starting among other labels, and I was curious about his recordings and he introduced me to Rowsley Mayfield. Speaking of your rose theme and rose introduced me to Don Pierce and Pierce was the founder of this record label and had produced a lot of Maddox brothers and rose a four star before that and he bought an older labor. Made it into a big what? Bought into four star. He bought a share? I'm thinking star star daily, and that's a name SEO the starting name. So they they started this label. Jack Starnes was lefty Frizzell touring manager, and he sued lefty for breach of contract and took all of that money and wanted to start a label, but he wanted juke jukebox distribution. So we brought pappy daily and and they released three records, but they didn't know about copyright. They didn't know about managing artists. By the fourth labeled at the fourth record. They released they brought in Don Pierce. And that's when they actually founded the label together then parish came down from the north west. Washington. He's he's from Washington. But he was he moved to start a office to Los Angeles. So even though it's mostly a Texas music label. It was based in California and eventually to to Nashville in nineteen fifty seven. They went to Nashville and became the largest independent country music record label in the nineteen fifties and sixties wasn't significance of star day. What what what roll what what's our great contribution to American music and the country music. It's pretty vast. I started was created the largest bluegrass catalogue of any record label in the world. So in the nineteen fifties and sixties they recorded the Stanley brothers, Jim and Jesse all of the acts bluegrass acts that had been dropped by the rock and roll phenomenon. Start a kept producing that. And win old time artists on the grand ole Opry, folks, like the crooks brothers are salmon Kirk McGee or string bean couldn't get record deals. Start a released all of those records. And so there's a great. Preservation of traditional American roots music. They also dabbled with some rockabilly, and they put out the most rockabilly music of any record label fifties that was pappy daily was really keen on cashing in making artists like George Jones and Leon Payne sort of try their hand at rock and roll. Then they really just did a lot of western swing and the largest gospel music catalog in the nineteen fifties and sixties it was really a powerhouse independent record label. The George Jones makes his earliest records restarting. He made his first starting. Yeah. They were the one that launched starting launched George Jones, and Roger Miller and Dottie west and the big Bopper and a lotta great great country music performers. So huge importance in. I I believe that's what I argue in the of course, and the the book if people can't find the book immediately in bookstores around here, they could easily find any bookstore could get a copy of it, right restroom any bookstore. Could order this book, you could go to Amazon. But of course, supporting local favourite bookstore would be great thing to do. Imagine mystery to me probably has if you out could easily get a few copies. I would love it. If they carried it. I love that shot. But I don't know if they carry it. It's not so much a mystery. I sort of unpacked the mystery of starting in there. Do you carry any copies around with you? I don't that's kind of hard for for for rider tomorrow his own merchandise. We found that to be true. Yeah. It's it was published by the university press of Mississippi, and sadly, my author discount is just about the same price. You could buy it for on Amazon. So for me to carry it and charge the retail price on it. People can just get it cheaper online. I respect that choice. People. Make it's hard for me to carry it in stock for that reason though. So this history of starter you went from there to project give some input pub- publicity. The people who are still living people who recorded for starting. That's my most recent project. My last CD was an entire CD started covers and the idea was all the people that had helped me on the starting book. And then I made a a radio documentary hour long documentary about starting at all the people that helped me do that. I wanted to cover one of their songs, so I did a Stanley brother's song because Ralph it helped me did an orangey Ray Hubbard song and Ranji had been part of the book project in Glenn barber and all these people who had helped I wanted to give tribute to them. And then I thought why just cover their songs why not make Iraq? Record with the artists who are still around still making music and still sounding gray. And I didn't know at the time. But that that simple idea kind of spiraled into a a massive project that required crisscrossing the country for the last year and a half. Well, it's fortunate that you're independently wealthy because. Yeah. I really lucked out there. I I've been making about five thousand dollars a year for the last six years as a grad student and scraping by and then I moved to a -sconsin for my first maybe about sixty five hundred right? My first job that I've had out of grad school, and I immediately took all that money and dumped it into a really big recording project and got kinda consumed so altogether have many artists are involved in this would appear on it. So I went. Yeah. I went around deciding I would try to make a record with as many of the artists who are still making music from start a records heyday, which was nineteen fifty three to nineteen sixty eight and there are easily fifty artists that I could have tracked down, but because of all of the time constraints, and and really wanting to make this record with my friends who have been part of the project for start a project for long time. We have fourteen started artists. On this current record. I did a double album of twenty four songs with fourteen starting artists and the backing band is mostly Marty Stuart's backing band. Chris Greg's Kenny Vaughan with me on most of these play. When he does he plays on a few tracks as well. And we also did some sessions in Indiana with my backing band with Jerry Miller from the jewel band, and we did some in Texas. Our you'll hear Kevin Smith is Willie Nelson's bass player some of those guys. So then from there he moved onto the how did the puppet idea. Matt explain what that is. Yeah. So we got all these all these songs traveling around recorded all these sessions in Texas and Nashville in Oregon, West Virginia, Virginia, Indiana, and I decided okay now that I've got all these sessions. I need to have a visual for I can't get everybody in a room together. I was doing oral histories with every artist recording sessions video taping the sessions and and videoing interviews with every artist. So that I could do a much bigger project. I had I had documentary in my mind. But as this project got kind of grander. I thought I need a visual to kind of capture it and at the same time, I was doing an oral history with Jim Kirckstein Jim Kirk from Kuka records who has donated the Kuka collection to the mills music library, and I've been documenting that digitizing that collection. And as we're doing that I went out to do oral histories with him. And I said, you know, I'd love to talk to you and record you, and he showed me his basement, and it was filled with marionnettes, and I was blown away. I just thought this is the most beautiful thing. What is this? And he said, well, a friend of his who lives in Madison makes marionnettes and he's he's the same guy who did all of the if you've been to L S deli. He did all of those decorations around Ellas del his name getting to that the big unveil name is Ken Vogel Vogel, Ken Vogel, and he made all of this amazing stuff. He's not just Madison favor artists. He's my favorite artists that I know he makes incredible art, he's incredibly genuine talented guy. You may have met him. If you were at the willy street market, he's making marionnettes and and selling them at the markets. He's just a really talented artists. And I didn't realize it. We're head. Yeah. So I had him make marionettes of all of the start a artists who are on the record as well as mardi Stuart and Kenny Vaughan, and Chris Griggs and some of the backing guys and I'm living the postcard now. Yeah. And I made this album cover of all these marionettes that Ken Vogel had made. And with the kind thanks to Bill and Bobbie Malone for holding the Marian at the photograph. We got some amazing photographs it's been a lot of fun to have friends over to make music videos with these things and stage action shots, and it's a big part of the aesthetic of the stars of start a project. Now, you brought in some examples of what will be on the project. Why don't we play? You wanna play one right now? Let's play when nobody's ever heard. These this is the I haven't actually mastered the record yet. I'm very close to that. But these are the final mixes. So it's close to what you'll be hearing. When you hear the final record. But since it's such a rainy day. I thought we would start. With two hundred Frankie Miller, the black land farmer, and we recorded this in Austin, Texas at the politics studios. And this is a song called rain rain..
