"To new york. Amsterdam billiards torsten home in the new house. Pro their tony. Robots used to be the house pro. But with tony relocating to florida. Still think he should move to arizona. They were they were missing a a house pro and i think they made a great choice in torsten home in other news my partner in well one of my partners in the qaeda up network. Nate mendham finished. His women's fiji nine ball championship. Kelly fisher to no one's surprise. Did kelly fisher win the event. She margaret fa- lova in the finals. What might have been the surprise was that she didn't dominate the event from start to finish. She made it through on a wildcard. It it came down to a close decision within iraq or two but once it got into and let me back up a second. It was four days of action. Four ladies round robin the top four ladies advanced into a single elimination board and then the top two runner up finishers based on number of racks ran moved into the single elimination so kelly kind of squeaked in wildcard but once she was there she was back to her usual dominating self and she won the event. An is two thousand dollar payday. Four know it's early in the year and and we didn't get the derby city prize money that we normally get in january. Usually i won't even put the money list up for a year for the current year until derby has happened. Usually we have music city by then we have derby the by then and we've got a decent amount of money you know to get the money list started so we don't have that yet this year. What we do have to no surprise on the money list is denison koyo at the top of the list. He's we've got him with fifteen thousand in prize money so far in the first what. Two months and five days Shane fater conrad. Jeff de luna. Fill out the top five. Kelly moves to the top of the ladies money..

"Welcome back to American Billiard Radio today is September twenty fifth. A little bit late in the week like I mentioned last week. I already had an interview in the cancer. So I certainly wasn't going to let that go by that interview is with Nate Mendham of the it up podcast and natives also organizing big virtual ten ball events that I will let him tell you about when we get to that interview before we move onto that a little bit of news. You know it's been said that when this virus? Is finally hundred control and that people are able to come back to pool rooms that it's going to be like a mad rush of people. I. Don't know that this is really indie indicator, but you know we mentioned last week the regional tours are starting to come back. There's even a new regional tour that kicked off in Quebec which. My understanding is that the the virus is not hitting them as hard as it is here in the states but the Predator Quebec pro-am tour kicked off last weekend. No Real surprised Danny, Hewitt going through the field undefeated, they have an interesting format where. Qualifiers on Saturday from those two qualifiers four players from each one advance to a sixteen player bracket on Sunday in a different room. We'll see how it goes. Canada's has always had A. A. Number of different regional tours they usually seem pretty successful. It's been hard for us to get information on some of those stops but. We didn't have a whole lot of problem with this I stopped from Quebec. other regional tour news, the peach, our northeast women's tour Linda. Shea one that one. The DFW nine ball tour Dallas Fort Worth Area Jeff Franklin one that he beat Arizona's Gosper Sinoe in the finals a nice little side note on that dfw nine ball tour stopped sixty eight players in that one. So yeah, they're they're coming back fairly strong. another good turnout was at the queue city nine ball tour. In Gastonia North, Carolina, they had sixty three players and Stevie mcclinton won that one. You know we have so much news. We talk so much about events that are still being canceled This week was a prime indicator with the Atlantic Challenge Cup being canceled, but a little bit of good news. With. With my soapbox rant last week about. Tournaments being scheduled on top of each other I was in touch with Mike Duggan. Just wanting to check with him to make sure that yes, everything's is still. all-systems-go for the January turning stone classic and the Good News is Mike contacted the casino and he says that the tournament is still on as far as they are concerned. January. Seventh through the Tenth 2021. Turning. Stone Classic Thirty Four. So. Hopefully, things stay that way, and hopefully that tournament is able to happen. Of course, like we talked about last weekend. It would be happening at the same time as a big event in Alabama and a big events somewhere in the world with the. World Pool Championship not the World Nine Ball Championship the World Pool? Championship. In other news. Emily mentioned last week that. Really, as long as people are talking about your event, they consider that a good thing. Whether they're happy or not with what's going on if that's the case then emily's gotta be ecstatic right now because Jeremy announced this week, his fifth player for team, USA and that fifth player was not Tyler Star it was Chris Robinson. It's been a controversial pick. That's that puts things mildly..

"And so that's what I'm positive about I'm positive that we're GONNA come out of this with new ideas in its if events. And again, I, feel like my true employee's to we've kind of gone to. Now to where I was hoping it was going to be in twenty twenty, twenty, twenty one. That's okay. I had an cry about it few months back conical ivory. He's so upset about it and go. Way wants to be up and but that's okay. Take on the chin, and all you can do is just look and and see how we can develop and work for the future. So I'm excited and I'm glad you ought to. Him. Emily I appreciate the time that you spent with me today. I appreciate the the energy and the enthusiasm that you bring to everything that you do and I'm looking forward to seeing how Mosconi Cup comes together and how things come together next year. Thank you know pressure now? All right. I'll let you get back to planning and we'll talk to you soon. Thanks. Mike. It's been a pleasure. Alright. Thanks, Emily. Emily. Again, I found that all very interesting and like I mentioned in that interview. You take the the enthusiasm that emily has and the enthusiasm that people like nate mendham hands. And I think the game has eight. I'M NOT GONNA say a bright future. I'm going to say a brighter future than it does without those people in it. And speaking of Nate Nice saying they're nate does the Kyodo podcast and believe it or not? "It. That's never going to go away though. So I don't know what the solution is. Nevertheless, as I said, I've got two different interviews for you this week. I up we have Nate Mendham with the queue it up podcast. Here you go. I give you Nate. And I'm very proud to be joined now by Nate Mendham natives, the creator of the queue it up podcast. How you doing today Nate? I'm doing great. How are you doing? Good good. Having a good time. Watching the all the pool that match rooms putting out there on Facebook. Yeah. That's was doing a phenomenal thing for pool by buying up all of these big events, and then streaming them free of charge. It's really helping to promote the game. I think. And at least personally, I think I've mentioned on the show that it seemed to me that mattress was trying to duplicate the feel of Mosconi Cup for a singles event at the US open. But what I'd never even crossed my mind is all experienced they have with snooker and running larger events like this from what I've seen. I mean, they're doing an outstanding job. It's it's very professionally done with with multiple tables. And there's no dead time when they're racking day or when someone's on a break, they can switch to another match. I mean, they this isn't in my mind, it's not really a Mosconi Cup duplication anymore. It's it it reminds me more of snooker. I think that they're really onto something with their Mosconi Cup. They have done just an insane job of promoting that. And I know in Wisconsin where I'm out of when they had the Mosconi Cup. I was actually in London last year for it. And I had probably eighty to a hundred of my friends reach out to me on Facebook saying all hails watching the stream, and I saw you in the stands, and I think ten years ago. I don't think that there would have been eighty players in all of Wisconsin watching history nonetheless that are on my friendless. So since mattress taken it over. They've really promoted it in a way that's fun to watch. It's fast paced and exciting. The thirty second shock is a huge improvement. So the game I think it really keeps everything moving along quickly. Absolutely. So how did the how did the trip come together last year for Mosconi Cup? So actually Tyler stiers, a it's a good buddy of mine, and I reached out to him when he was when he made the final cut for the Mosconi finalist, and he was in the field or the remaining field players with Oscar Dominguez was in there. I'm pretty sure Dennis hatch was there and blanking on the last person. But miss them. Oh, yeah. Mitch Mitch element was I think the last one and only one of them was gonna make it and then Corey dual in there as well, obviously. And then sorry, only two of them. We're gonna make it. So Corey Doolan Tyler star where not in that order chosen 'cause Tyler was chosen as the fourth Representative. And then Corey on the final. Hey, but once I saw that he got selected for it. I you know, I kind of made a little bit of a bluff thing go if you get elected, and then he got selected, and I guess my boss was called in a couple of plane tickets to London later, I was there, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was if you've never had the opportunity to go to Mosconi Cup, you're missing out. And you gotta get there. It is just an absolute blast. Well, I'm jealous because I've been to Mosconi Cup number of times. I've never been to London though. You mentioned that that Tyler is good friends. Did it? I mean, of course, you have to be politically correct here. But you knowing Tyler's game is that his normal game. I mean when we saw him out there in London. He was cool calm and collected. And he seemed like probably the calmest member of Team USA. Ooh. I hope Tyler doesn't end up listening to this part of it. So I will say this Tyler Styler what he gives up in talents as far as his competitors. That were also up for nomination for the team USA. He has more heart than probably all of them combined. I've had several conversations with him where he thinks that he is the best player on the table. And he doesn't say it and try to talk himself into it. He says it believing it, and when you go about treating every rack that way and every tournament that way, I think he has a huge notch up on his competitors. Especially in that type of format where he can go into a Mosconi Cup in a twenty five hundred seat arena that is the Alexandria palace. And he can go into that with no fear at all. And I'm not trying to sell out any of the US competitors in the past. But you could definitely tell at the atmosphere gets to some of the players. It's a really really rowdy intimidating atmosphere. That is I can't even imagine playing it. We actually going. Slightly off script per second. We actually set up a fans Mosconi Cup with a couple of the European guys. And we basically just all showed up in a pool hall in London. And we decided to do the team US for whoever wanted to play verse team Europe whoever wanted to play and we'd just set it up in a in a Mosconi Cup style where we just randomly drew matches. And then added all the points up Mosconi Cup style. And we lost. I think by four points by the end of it. But it was an absolute blast. And even that knowing that you're representing your country. And nobody even knows about it is it was a really interesting atmosphere that I got expecially nervous for. So I can't even imagine what it's like a play on that stage. And I think that going back to my original point. It's it's it would be tough. And I think it shows with some of the US players that have. Been out there in the last say nine years, but going back again, originally Tyler didn't fear any of that Tyler has something in him that she rises to the moment like very few. I've ever actually met can. So while he lacks some of the talent of especially the the younger players from Europe and Alexander Kazakh this and act Kaci, he has a heart that not a single other player on either team has in my opinion. So that allows him to play at that level. Well, above maybe where his game was at the time of that event. Well, he definitely showed it. I at the time. I wasn't positive that I agreed with the call for him to be the fifth member, of course, with Mitch being from Arizona. I kind of had my own personal preference. But without him on that team. I don't think they win last year. Oh, I absolutely agree. Because we went out and lost the first two points. And the third matchup was Tyler style verses Neil spine and actually Neal's in Tyler had just played. I want to say about five weeks prior. And in the very first round of. One of an event in the US, and I'm blanking on what the event wasn't. Maybe you'll remember. Was at

"Hello everyone. Welcome back to American billiard radio today is Thursday, April twenty fifth, but I suspect that this episode won't actually get online until Friday April twenty-sixth, I got a surprise for everybody though this week. There's actually two interviews. I know what's this world coming to I had a chance to sit down earlier this week and talked to Nate Mendham. Nate is the creator of the queue it up podcast. Got started a couple of months ago. He's had some we talk in the interview about how many shows he's got out. I think he's up to two ten episodes. Now had a real good interview with Jon Schmitz a couple of weeks ago. So I had a chance to talk to Nate about pool in Wisconsin. And some of the plans that he has for his podcast. I also had a chance to talk to Jeff and Ileana Sullivan. They are the team behind sully. Division. They have a huge not action match. But they have a huge challenge match coming up next week between June Lin Chang and Shane van boning had a chance to talk to them about what them started in streaming. And this big challenge match, and how it turns out that there's actually going to be eight challenge matches that come together to to fill a field after derby. But I'll let them explain that. Instead of me as I record this. The US open is getting down to four players. And that's kind of I had a thought regarding the US open that I wanted to put out there. But I'm not really sure where it's going. Not where the tournaments going on. I'm sure where the tournament's going. I'm not really sure where this thought is going, and and here's the thing. You know, I I love to jump up on my soapbox and talk about pool and problems in it, and that sort of thing this is something that I don't know what the solution is the first three days of the US open were stream for free on Facebook. While there was some controversy over added money and stuff like that. Basically, I think everyone is in agreement that if a company can take professional pool and run with it. It's mattress sport. They have. They've made the Mosconi Cup into must see TV. They've been running World Cup of pool. World pool masters as far as that goes they ran world championships in the past. So here's the thing. I three days free stream last three days. Final sixteen players big matches marquee names. It's streamed on dancing DA's, E, N dot com. Afr-? I'm not an expert on dasm. But it looks to be basically they stream some boxing matches. They're doing some stuff with major league baseball. This is the same company that was going to stream the world masters on. I'm not sure what happened there. But here's the thing. We all know that online pay per view is not really a huge moneymaking endeavor. Most pool fans will not support something like that. No matter how big the names are. And how big the tournament is. I guess we're I'm trying to go. Here is for the last day and a half. I log onto Facebook. And one of my friends has shared the pirated version of the stream, and it could be anybody. And this happens whenever there's something on Sky Sports. You know, there are there are people who certainly are not pool related who will pirate that video stream and put it online. Okay. I get that. You know, that's going to happen with any sport. But there were thousands of people watching this pirated stream, they knew it was pirated. And we're not talking about, you know, thousands of ball bangers. I'm talking. Major marquee names. I was seeing popping up on the right hand side that you know, so and so has started watching this video. These are people who you would think would want to support mattress sports and what they're doing. It was twenty dollars to join dasm for a month. You join for a month you cancel the subscription. But there were thousands of people including major players, and I'm not skinny not just pull players, but major business players in the billiards world who were watching this pirated stream instead of supporting the event at one time I had to chuckle to myself someone actually suggested, hey, we should throw a through a bone to this person. Who was pirating the stream. No, they shouldn't have it was it was twenty dollars and somebody responded. Well, yeah. You know, I paid my share because I pay for that sort of thing you, and honestly we were watching a pirated stream. No, we shouldn't have thrown him Abon. We should have thrown twenty dollars to Dan. And look I'm just as guilty as the next guy. I was watching it. I knew full well, I was watching pirated stream. So here's the thing is pay per view. Is it honestly a solution? I mean, what what can companies do if if we and again, I'm blaming myself here if we cannot throw twenty dollars to a company outside of billiards that is venturing into pool, then how much are we how much do we really want to see the game grow? Oh, I mean. Sure, it it's it's easy to say. Well, you know, Mike, you do a lot for pool. So you know, I should have and. And we all should have. I don't I don't know what the answer is. Usually I can just jump on my soapbox. I can complain a little while. But this is something that I really wanna think about a little bit more. I don't know. I don't know what the what the barrier is why we would be willing to cheat accompany that is trying to in an indirect way promote the US open to be the savior of professional pool in the United States. I don't think it's that were cheap. Maybe it's just ease of access. You know, maybe you jump on Facebook. And you see the stream there that was it for me. I logged on it was right there. Sure, I'm going to watch it.
