"Some have been not are some haven't been i think they're kind of being careful with him and just trying to make sure he's getting on track for the end of the year and closer to the next year and it has been a good month for him in general i think it was. I think it was a three and a half year this entire month of september and even over the last fifteen days One thirty five year. A in six appearances. So that's one Height you take away from. I guess the bullpen was nate pearson. Being good against the yankees lineup. But other than that. I i really don't see who else you're gonna bring in. And that's why as much as i didn't work for the jays. I can understand why charlie toya left and robbie ray i actually disagree with both of you I will say at the time. I didn't take issue with the the the decision to leave. Robbie ray in so. I don't totally blame. Charlie montayo there because at the time. Like you say hindsight's twenty twenty i wasn't harping on montoya or anyone else to pull the plug kind of on robbie ray but looking at it in hindsight even ignoring what we know now but what happened. With the clipper tours homerun you can still look at it and predict that happening like you look at his numbers third time through the order. We've gone over that even if you just look at the test what robbie ray is doing in that game. He is not hitting a spots. He's philosophies tick down a little bit. He doesn't have his stuff in that inning. He's already given up back to back home runs and just walked a batter. You can tell that he doesn't have his good stuff. You can tell. He's not the pitcher you normally is and i don't think his status as a potential. Al cy young award winner. I don't think his status as the east of this team should override..

"I <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Silence> <hes> <Speech_Male> almost want to <Speech_Male> say he'd be in the bullpen. <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> i don't know <Speech_Male> i either way. He's <Speech_Male> a big arm. And somebody <Speech_Male> who i guess. <Speech_Male> They rely on a lot <Speech_Male> for thomas <Speech_Male> agean i think <Speech_Male> bullpen for sure but <Speech_Male> either way <Speech_Male> i just i <Speech_Male> mean. Mark your your <Speech_Male> post. A couple of days ago with the <Speech_Male> operation table. I think <Speech_Male> that sums <Speech_Male> perfectly. But <Speech_Male> it's just it's funny. <Speech_Male> It's just. I <Speech_Male> don't know i i hope <Speech_Male> so. But thomas <Speech_Male> hatch to. He did have potential <Speech_Male> ash and we saw <Speech_Male> that he. <Speech_Male> He's one of the main pieces <Speech_Male> in this bullpen and they definitely <Speech_Male> are missing him <Speech_Male> a lot. So <Speech_Male> you know there's that <Speech_Male> there's one <Speech_Male> more home standard anita. <Speech_Male> I guess before we wrap things <Speech_Male> up. I don't know if we were planning <Speech_Male> talk about it. But i <Speech_Male> wanted to ask you guys <Speech_Male> your thoughts on <Speech_Male> the attendance. <Speech_Male> How they're going to be handling <Speech_Male> that in buffalo. I don't <Speech_Male> know if you saw a fifty percent <Speech_Male> capacity <Speech_Male> for people are been vaccinated <Speech_Male> with no distancing <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> then fifty percent capacity <Speech_Male> distance <Speech_Male> people. That aren't vaccinated. <Speech_Male> I just i think it'll <Speech_Male> be cool for sale and <Speech_Male> to be filled up <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> a decent amount <Speech_Male> but <Speech_Male> yeah it's just <Speech_Male> i'm excited <Speech_Male> either either way <Speech_Male> you know. I <Speech_Male> guess they're closer to <Speech_Male> toronto again. But <Speech_Male> i <Speech_Male> don't know but either way at <Speech_Male> least <SpeakerChange> it should be <Speech_Male> better in buffalo <Speech_Male> as long as it's safe to <Speech_Male> do so <SpeakerChange> then you know <Speech_Male> what i'll let people do it. <Speech_Male> Yeah we've got. <Speech_Male> Fifty percent capacity <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> for fifty percent <Speech_Male> of the stadiums can be <Speech_Male> one hundred percent <Speech_Male> capacity for people <Silence> are vaccinated. <Speech_Male> The other half <Speech_Male> is going to be <Speech_Male> Six feet <Speech_Male> distant. I'm very excited. <Speech_Male> Because as many <Speech_Male> people know. I live in the states. <Speech_Male> I'll have <Speech_Male> about probably seven hours <Silence> from buffalo so <Speech_Male> i'm trying <Speech_Male> to work out <Speech_Male> a trip. They <Speech_Male> have a homestand. <Speech_Male> They played baltimore <Speech_Male> for a four game series <Silence> at the end of june. <Speech_Male> I'm trying <Speech_Male> to get tickets for that. <Speech_Male> We'll see how it goes <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> was able to attend. The <Speech_Male> new hampshire fisher. Cats <Speech_Male> game <Speech_Male> Yesterday <Speech_Male> which was pretty cool. <Speech_Male> Austin martin didn't do <Speech_Male> anything cool but brock <Speech_Male> lundquist <Speech_Male> hit a grand slam <Speech_Male> and how to cool select <Speech_Male> <hes> sliding <Speech_Male> catch <Speech_Male> over near the bullpen. <Speech_Male> Down the left field line so <Speech_Male> it was awesome <Speech_Male> as catch <SpeakerChange> student. <Speech_Male> You <Speech_Male> got ball ranger. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Thank you bring that up. <Speech_Male> Because i wanted to. I <Speech_Male> wanted to say it. But i <Speech_Male> got fell <Speech_Male> which is pretty. <Speech_Male> It sounds cool but <Speech_Male> there are sixty people in the <Speech_Male> stadium. So <Speech_Male> not much of an achievement. <Speech_Male> But anyways <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> don't tell you all <Speech_Male> yeah yeah <Speech_Male> we will wrap <Speech_Male> it up there. "And of jim okay we will wait and see and check in on our next episode or after his next start series. Do an polaski dimension in today's podcast. I mentioned this in our chat right before the game ended. I said there have been no injuries. Since we last recorded this could be our first podcast without talking about a single injury. And then after the game charlie. Montoyo came out and said that ryan brock wasn't available because he had arm fatigue and that he doesn't think it's an injury doesn't think he's going on the injured list. It's not gonna be available. Obviously not today maybe not tomorrow against phillies. Who knows but we almost made it without an injury. I was ready to celebrate but even so it's still good that this is a small injury. It's nothing major. There's not multiple guys going on the. I l little bit of solitaire. Not much to talk about. But it's a little silver lining and maybe a sign that the blue jays are finally getting out of there. You know maybe the first period of the season which we could call the injured period the injured era and maybe finally getting into a competitive Time where of course you know. They're winning like they have to over the last eighteen. Yeah i mean it. It only took us Recording only three days later for us to finally get an injury. But yeah you know what. I'll take it. It's been great i. I don't think that we can take any more injuries because this team will just like. I don't know how much it can handle that. But yeah i mean hopefully ryan brookies not out for too long. Hopefully they get their guys back. That are on the. i'll soon. Maybe we'll see springer back. He's retroactive to today. Which is thursday which he started running So hopefully he's in maybe by the end of the weekend. Something like that Not entirely sure but yeah. This team is finally it looking like. They're not necessarily getting injured. But just staying healthy and and starting to get healthy again. So very pleasant surprise and i say surprise because i mean yeah like the. The team is getting destroyed by injuries. And we've seen the graphics on sports in it. I think it was called the bruised jays instead of blue jays and there was maybe like eleven names on that list and it's it's super concerning super frustrating team's doing well without them team's going to do even better with them and it's you know it can be at a better time especially as the homestand ends or host new home begins. And then they go into their next A road trip in home standing in buffalo. Yeah i mean knowing this team day to day turns into an injury. Injury injured list sent by a couple of weeks or a couple of days. Sorry i hope so. Rockies than one of the best are one of the top relievers in this bullpen. Obviously is a lefty which is very important. But i just i have. Nothing is told you guys..

"I'm going to say eighty percents up this year. And i've completely changed my opinion and i it's crazy how much it has because if you go back to what was two weeks ago i started this. I started thirty thirty five percent. I said maybe late summer. September mercure with me around there around september jacob. I think you said zero percent so it's just crazy. How much has changed over the course of two weeks or three weeks or whatever it is he will be up here before candidate. Yeah the wall. I don't agree with that. But yeah it's crazy how much our expectations have changed. I'm gonna last podcast. I said august first. I'm going to bump that up. I think he's gonna be making the last start before the all star break. So that's july eleventh I'll take that. I think it's it's against the raise I think that works so perfectly. They get him in and they don't have to rush him back to his next start if it doesn't go well if they wanna work on something if they want to send him down they have lots of time to figure out their approach with him and his development and it kind of is just like a fairy tale ending to the first half of the season so july tenth or. Excuse me july eleventh. The last game. Before the all-star break that's when i'm going with we'll see we'll check back next week. We're already changing our predictions bit and we'll keep track of where they're going but it expectations of changed exponentially in just two weeks. It's crazy i'll tell you what actually it's funny bracing. You said there's a mentioned the guy that predicted june tenth. His name was joseph if he beats all of us. Then i don't wanna say anything at all you know. What if i'm not willing to make a bet but you know what if joseph beats all of us. Congratulations i could happen better than jacobs now. Okay i lose. I lose every single time. There's no way i can. I make something. But if he's dominating like he is. Let's say this keeps up or it's like a it's consistent. Why keep holding in there. That's why i think late late. You think you will keep up so yeah. Obviously it won't but keep up this pace. Oh he's not gonna throw he's not gonna practically throw a no hitter. Nobody like hitter. I think they want keep him. I think they want to keep him down long enough to that they can see how hitters adapt how he adapts interpolate. 'cause like there's no video there is nothing to scout right now. Before this season. He had seventeen professional winning so minor league hitters coming in against him. Have no idea what's going on. I think they want to keep him in tripoli long enough until the opponents know what they're getting in there still struggling against him and that's when the bring him up and another thing aaa like we're seeing with pearson is very different from the major leagues. It's a different conversation in terms of you. Can't just throw your fastball. All the time you gotta make some other pitches..

"The major. Got someone like jeremy beasley. Who's gonna have to fit his. You know what off to stay. The major agent is the future of this ballclub. He doesn't have to prove it he should be there for the long run and this move. Just if apple's me it baffles me baffles all of us okay. It's time for our now. Periodic segment alec minoa watch. He started yesterday on wednesday in aaa with the buffalo bisons slash trenton thunder. He went six innings. His first five innings were no hit innings. He didn't give up a hit until a leadoff double in the sixth inning and that was the only hit he gave up all game six innings. Total nowhere runs two walks five strikeouts. I'm in coming off a twelve. Th strikeout no walk game in his last start coming out. Five no hit innings. I asked this question last week. ask it again. So when do you think he will be added to the twenty six man roster. You know what. I'm going to stick with july fifteenth because i still think that i'm sticking with it. I think the blue jays wanna give him a couple more starts and actually somebody Commented on our last podcast. I wanted to bring it up. He said june tenth. I'm not sure. I mean that's a good option. Maybe you wanna either take that. Or i'm not sure but i'm gonna say july fifteenth and also i should mention. He has not allowed an earned run in the minors yet. Our aaa yet. Which is fantastic. You're still saying july fifty. I think the last thing you wanna do is russia guy like this. He's going to be good and he's going to be great in this league especially for this team in the rotation but i think the best option is give him a couple more starts and bring them up in the summer because is may the thirteenth right. Now so i'm gonna give it to more months which is a couple more starts or maybe five or six starts and then they truly know what they have going for them and that will probably be that when they keep them up or when they bring them up they'll keep him and he will be an impact player for the team. But i don't know if. I can change it because i feel like if i change it. I'm going to be obliged to change it again next week and every single we. I just want to stay a little bit consistent but the point of minoa point of the segments you. Our expectations are changing weaken week. Oh i'll give it one more week if he's still doing well after however many started when we next record then. I'll make my decision. If i want change but i'm keeping it right now while my opinions changes for days and whoever said that comment i'll change the date. I'll give it to whoever whoever was jacob. I don't know if you know the name. But let him or her. Keep that i will say june twenty eighth. He will be up here next month at some point. I i'm convinced. I've just i've the organization loves him and i've just been ever seen in hearing everything that they love this guy and i mean the fact that he's dominating aaa like he is like i going gonna drop my percentage..

"He's not gonna learn anything else in the minors. If you're going to call him up to the majors if you think he's ready to make a start against the astros who are cheating or not one of the best offenses in baseball like he's obviously developed so keep him in the majors. Let him get his feet wet. And i think you mentioned this jacob. It's all about confidence like with nate. Pearson i think the the one thing with him now that they have to work on his confidence. That's still one thing. It's not philosophy. It's not any of this stuff. It's confidence it's challenging hitters. It's making sure he's not nervous. When he goes to the mound. He knows his place in the clubhouse. He knows if he has a batting if he gets hit for three home runs or whatever he's not gonna get sent down and i think the blue jays just shatter that sending him down so i don't understand the decision. It frustrates me. I think if you're going to have him get more starts in aaa. Don't call him up. In the first place kinda connor saying in the chat there would have been a difference if he got one more. Rehab start to more rehab starts. It would have made a difference. It's just i think they rushed him in the first place. And if you're going to rush him keep him in the majors and for whatever reason they didn't. It's a confusing decision. Yeah i think that's initially. There are the fact that he was coming back from. An injury is initially why. I thought he should have stayed in longer. And like you said he knows what he's capable of in the minors and we saw this every single time. There was a prospect coming up whether it was bobryshev vladimir guerrero junior it was. Hey this guy's going in the minor leagues take them up to the major league. There's no reason why he's here. And i think without an injury. Nate pearson should be on this roster and that's the confusing thing as i said earlier. I think he should have been in the minors longer. But i also don't know if sending him back down was the right decision. So it's it's definitely a bit of a weird decision for me and also like you gotta remember this blue jays team. They look honestly look like a big family. Like you look at at the broadcast when they're showing videos of the dugout. There's a whole bunch of guys sitting together like these guys whether whether someone struggling whether someone's doing well whether they're down twenty runs they're somewhat positive. I mean maybe not situation. But you know what i mean. This team is very close. And so i think nate pearson would have benefited from that. Then you actually. I didn't even think of that until you mentioned that. That actually a good point where one of the best things to do when you struggle in the majors is to look at the guys that hap- success and learn from them. Really try to leech off of that a little bit and.

"Great breaking pitches and he's going to be an ace like let's be real here he's going to be one of potentially three aces on the staff. Which as as you know. We'll get to the other key. Couple in a minute. But i would have given nate pearson a little bit more time just to work things out and then call him up. I believe in this home. Stand there i think facing the yankees are talk or somebody in the least. I would have given them a little bit more time. Call him up on the homestand especially considering that you're in dunedin next to development complex and that would probably be the better option for them but the tough outing for him and you know it's unfortunate you don't wanna see this especially coming from a top ten prospect which bluejays desperately desperately need to fill a role in their team but hopefully we can look back on this and said that this eventually was for the better nate pearson learn from it and was able to come back throwing a lot more strikes. Yeah i think it's a horrible move. I'm going to be flat honest. I think it's horrible for somebody. I think when you're calling him up i think it comes with the fact that he's up here and that's it once you call them up. He's there for the rest of the year. And the only thing i can think of is the reason why he went down. Exactly what you said. Jake exactly what i think. We all three mentioned. Maybe maybe what whenever they call them up. Which was last sunday start. Maybe that wasn't part of the plan. Maybe they were supposed to keep them down in buffalo trend whenever you wanna call it for a couple more starts. I think. I said i wanted to and he'd be back up. But of course it will all vary on performance but when you look at the injuries in the transactions. This team made over the course of the end of the oakland series and throughout the houston series. I while they lost rafael release so that that was actually the move that brought napier under the team or the roster. They lost helps to transfer to the six day. I'll bunch of other injuries. But either way. I think the delete thing kind of caught them off guard and i don't think it was part of the plan i mean from..

"Me being thrown in. Oh safe situation due to a depleted bullpen. I think or even just a depleted bullpen. And just going right into the fire throwing in a safe situation close game That was impressive for me. But i was very happy and in terms of management of this guy going out for an extra inning or that guy. I'll stick to it at least six innings and i don't care because i don't. I'm guessing anything with this. I'm just i you know. Sometimes they make a lot of surprising moves. I think there was a few the series where people were kind of like. Wait what and i guess. Today was one of them. Ross stripling or even robbie ray maybe throw him out for a second time but are not a second time through another inning. But the thing that we've also learned about in. I mean based off what we've seen with the opener. How they handle it. There's no way they're sending out a starter for three times through the order. I'm not saying it would work. I'm not saying it does work but the analytics obviously don't show it for for them. So that's why. While i kinda came to terms of the kind of feeling it was done for. Ross stripling after five innings. I just wanna see the team. Try it at least once. Like obviously guys like really. You're gonna handle it. i. I know that that's my problem. Is i want to see this team. Give their starting pitchers who are doing well a chance and we just i. It's it really gets to me. Because i think that they could even if it's just one inning worst case i don't know you you get into a tough situation. Where maybe there's a couple of runners on obviously that's not ideal but at least you know for next time for that starter. I i i think the blue jays to at least see what they have in terms of options which guys in the rotation in terms of going deeper in the game then do weekly like doing it with stripling taking out. That doesn't really frustrating me like in the moment. Maybe i'd get a little mad at it but like you know he's not someone who has historically at success but like you said for someone like review. I'd like them to kind of push it a little bit with him. See how far they can take it so far. You can go because you know whatever extra they can get from him helps him a lot so but but stripling you know. I'm fine with the decision. They made You mentioned nate pearson bryson and of course that's something that surprised a lot of us. I think you know we saw him come up. He struggled in his star. Obviously two point one innings. He walked five. Guys didn't get into the third inning. But i think we kind of expected the blue jays to say look like this is the best guy we have right now. We don't have anyone else to come up. Besides maybe one guy that we're going to be talking about but we don't have anyone else to fill their spots so we're just gonna keep rolling pearson out there and look..

"He has given up have been home run ball and considering that isn't he has an era of three thirty eight. That's not bad and that's really good actually but the contact so that indicates that the contact has been rare but the contact is still been hard against him. So i think the blue jays robbie ray rather is going to need to really work on that and get that down because problem with the home run ball is one home run could change a one nothing game or a two one game into a three. Nothing gamers something like that. So that's i think what robbery is going to need to work on. But i mean as we said a million times obviously the second game. Hundred is the blue jays ace seven strong innings. Gave the team a chance to win. And then even ross tripling as you said i he. He's been good. And i like the fact that the bullpen was able to get rest in the first two games of the series but this game. I was not too happy with that now. Ross stripling at the end of the fifth inning had eighty four pitches and i would have let him go out for one more inning. Now i looked at and the braves had the nine one two batters up in their order coming up so maybe you don't wanna kunia to face raw stripling third time. Who homered off of him earlier in the game. So i kind of understand the logic behind that i i don't agree with it. Blue jays had a three two lead. I would have put rush tripling in there at least one more time. Worse case he gets. I don't know he gets one batter and then allows a hit or something. Obviously there's no worse case scenario such as a home run or something like that but i would have left robbery in the game at least until he was out of gas. Because eighty four pitches. Y- that's at least fifteen. Twenty more pitches that you can get out of him. Just because i don't think that the bullpen needs to take over half the game if it doesn't absolutely need to if you can get one more inning out of ross stripling than that's perfect and you know we review the only two relievers were using in that game. So that's obviously fantastic. Yeah i i just you know what. I'm happy with the starting rotation. But i wish that it was handled a little bit better because the bullpen could use that extra day arrest. Especially i think the blue jays still only have four starters for bonafide starters maybe three. I'm not even sure anymore. But yeah i would've liked to see a little bit better over management in at least with the starting rotation this game against the series finale. That is against the the braves. While i think for robbie ray he's been giving up so many home runs because he's just throwing his fastball so much which doesn't upset me like i would rather him give up a home run or to every start and not walk better than having walked people trying to be nibbling at the edges and you know beaten have to pay for it in terms of earned allowed so. I'm fine with him. Giving up three runs a start if it means he's aggressive. He's in the zone you know. Naturally you'd like to see if he's at this place right now where he seems to have gotten this command issues under control. Maybe expand the low the the strike zone a little bit. Maybe nibble at the edges. But if nothing changes. I'm happy been doing great on ross stripling. I know i was personally. I was mentioning guys. I was upset that they took him out of the game. I would've liked him. See him go out for the sixth inning but at the same time his it is a national league..

"Yeah and that's another thing. That's kind of remarkable that the bluejays are doing as well as they are. It's a fact that they've had. I think twenty five road games compared to eleven home game so far this season. So that's just another thing to heap pile of injuries of people not being hot at the same time. It's just another thing to keep on the pile in terms of how miraculous said the bluejays are still winning right there. Twelve in the. They've won twelve of their last eighteen games. That's remarkable they've done it without george springer for the most part without in january you at one point without guys like tommy malone um you know allah hundred kirk on the injured list. You have all these guys. Anthony castro rafael lease now in the injured list. All these guys who aren't on the team and the blue jays are still winning still winning twelve hundred eighteen. So i think day in and day. Oh it can be incredibly frustrating. Watch team we've talked about before but when you kind of try to zoom out which is hard to do when they are losing guys to injuries day in and day out but when you try to zoom out it becomes clear that this team is pretty good and it's pretty remarkable that they're twenty and sixteen at this point in the season. One thing i want to focus on from this series is starting pitching. You mentioned it bryson but we got five innings from a starting pitcher single game in this series which. I don't know if that's the first time this has happened this year. But it's certainly not a regular occurrence. And i think we will see the effect on the bullpen. Of course we had the off day monday which helped the bullpen. And then tuesday we have. Robbie ray goes six. Innings gives up three runs but strikes out ten which is pretty crazy and then wednesday we have hinge in review his second start back from the injured list and he's kind of shaken off the rust. He went seven innings. Only one run Six strikeouts and then of course today thursday ross stripling five innings to runs nine. Strikeouts gave up those two runs in the first inning. But then i think didn't give up a hit for his last twelve walked one of his last twelve better so pretty remarkable from ross stripling. But this is something that we've been talking about it a lot that the bullpen isn't going to be sustainable at this pace but seeing the starting pitching coming into this series and maybe they get a little bit lucky. 'cause atlanta's been struggling this season as well but seeing them come in and have that success and go deep into the games to wrestle that was really encouraging we did see the bullpen struggled. Today tim meza came in gave up a home run. But it's still really encouraging him. It bodes well for the long-term whether it can be continued or not. Who knows but it was just something that was nice to see. This starting rotation was fantastic this series and as you said robbie ray started the first game of the series ten strikeouts. That's crazy. I believe he was credited or charged with one walk. Although i think we can argue that that was probably hit by pitch but either way it would have been ball for. So i'm not gonna take too much into that The only negative. That i can kinda pull out of robbie ray six innings start. Was that three of the to earn runs that he allowed were via the home. Run and i think that is the biggest problem with him now. I went and looked back. I said okay. Well how is robbie. Ray been doing this season and six actually sixty one percent of all the earned runs that.

"And welcome to episode one hundred nineteen of section one thirty eight. I'm your host mark collie as always. I'm joined by bryson and jacob. How're you guys doing great mark. What a series. It was against the atlanta Second time on. What just over a week to sweeps pretty not bad not bad at all the not. Just one sweep. It's the series. The season sweep against the atlanta braves. Which is only the fourth time in franchise history that that's happened against any team. So that's pretty exciting. For the blue jays jacob power i was gonna say i'm doing fantastic especially with this road trip ending on not just a winning note but on a sweeping no this has been fantastic series for the blue jays. Didn't start off the greatest but you know what this is a very very good thing for them especially considering that this is supposed to one of their tougher months of the early schedule. They haven't played a single game against the orioles yet. They still have nineteen games against the orioles to go and then also games against teams like detroit teams like seattle so lots of exciting stuff coming up and hopefully they can keep this going but they win tuesday five to three. They win wednesday four to one and they went thursday eight four just a quick note for anyone who may be listening to this podcast. After the fact we're live streaming this on youtube so that's pretty exciting. We'll be taking questions and comments from our chad so We may do this periodically as we move forward to stay tuned to our socials to make sure you know when we're streaming and subscribe to us on youtube so like i said the big sweep coming today Let's just talk about the game today. I think today's game was the most exciting it was back and forth wrote at all. The blue jays finally took the lead in the later innings. How significant is it that the blue jays are now. They seem to be firing on all cylinders. I know we've said this before. But it seems like miraculously somehow despite all the injuries against all the odds they're actually finally doing it and they're finally clicking How significant is that. Do you guys think it's going to continue. I think it's extremely significant. Because i was listening to just before we came on the game ended in tim. Friends was on. And you hear joseph. We'll talk about will. This team is severely injured. And they're still doing so well. I mean they're twenty and sixteen right now. That is fantastic. Considering that a good majority of their roster or the key players in their roster are not healthy. I think also i wanna look at the fact that the blue jays scored so many runs in the later innings and i think that is an indication of just this team is really clicking. See bijou double double will be busier than doubled again in the ninth inning. Gurriel sacrifice fly and this team is just starting to really fire on all cylinders and they're getting performances from everybody on top of the guys that are doing well and especially this road trip. We saw marcus simeon. Have a fantastic road trip. Which i'll get into in a minute but what we're seeing is. I think we said this last week is the team is finally really clicking. And we're not getting those good performances but they're not able to really shine because there's other parts of the team's not doing well what we're getting..

"There's the new blue. I ride took that down because of how wicked those uniforms are and we saw them a lot this year and of course just before Spring training started the late. Tony fernandez passed away and they started. They played this season with number one. The number one Patch on their sleeves. And of course this season shutting down the labor disputes The blue jays draft though they did dress draft successfully and it was kind of weird seeing the draft happen without being played. So that was one thing that i really took. That was really awkward. But again they got austin martin somebody who was arguably one of the most are the most talented player in the draft. So they ended up landing. Austin martin Sixty game season was then implemented of course and we all know the story that they added the fiasco beforehand of not knowing where they're going to play and we've mentioned this before we will say it again. Is that the factors that they had not knowing where they're going to play in the fact that they continue to be together as a team to play. Good i find that really remarkable. I still can't believe how they did it for the fact that they were living out of a suitcase for at least a couple of weeks and playing home games at the stadiums Being kicked out of toronto being kicked out of pittsburgh Likely going to get kicked out of baltimore and then they ended up going to aaa park in buffalo and that is why it makes it special for me of course and for everybody else we saw nate pearson play. This year he had ups and downs. He was injured but We had glimpses of what he will be in the future and he's going to be a an important piece. This you're heading into twenty twenty one is. He's likely going to be in the store. Opening day are sort of starting rotation and of course they they made the at. The jays returned to the playoffs for the first time since two thousand and sixteen so that was really cool even though it didn't last long In tampa against the raise in the wildcard series. Something that was new It just it. It's a sign of things to come and for a team that prove fans that they do have a good future that they can return to their winning ways. It just gets. It gets me very excited for what they have in.

"Our. Future. Discussing off season mode. Give me one guy that the Blue Jays traded for that you'd like to see them re sign on reasonable contract and give me one guy that's under club control for the next two years beneficially resigned behind their arbitration years. So that could be something like laddy to be both could be Taos car whoever it is give me one for each of those categories. I. Think you need to sign one of the core guys if not get them just happy locked up period if you want to run away with Vladi and busy Oh and is Meghan solid I think that's the basis your franchise for this year's calm and I think having that set in stone in. Happy very much in the Lewis. Roberts, level contract Muslim thing to know that they're gonNA make arbitration but make it solid. Don't give them this bullshit. You know they're going to be bluejays for years to come make them happy led them play out every game give him the chance that Josh Donaldson did not get by adding that extended contract to be happy in Toronto claimed bluejays baseball. I will say the other obvious one is our trade deadline guys. I would think that if you don't try for Taiwan Walker. I think you're GONNA, be sorely mistaken with the other options on this free kit, and we're going to be hoping for somebody like Nate Pearson to step into what we saw tonight and continue to do that in the rotation I. Think they just need one more big-name guy. They might not even have to be a big name guys somebody very similar to review. That is a sneaky good guy period to be out of that rotation just anchor into all these other young talent guys for them to find out for the last three spots. and honestly maybe it's shoemaker I really don't know. What are you? GonNa say Obviously Walker depending on the the cost I think he's going to end up having a high price tag. But shoemaker I think I would definitely bring him back if he wants to come back I. Don't know how favorable the Blue Jays will sound to him as a result of you know pulled after three innings. For.

Blue Jays face Rays as underdogs in wild card playoff series

"Playoffs start tomorrow maybe even today even yesterday as you're listening to this, we're going to go. I mean ordinarily take quite a bit of time and Karen previewing each series. But we don't have that kind of time because there are eight playoff series and they are best of three which is going to lend itself to all kinds of chaos and so we're GonNa go through each of these series intern. We're going to turn hit the high notes and then at the very end deliver, our world series picks So let's start with the top series in the American league the Tampa Bay rays versus the Toronto Slash Buffalo Bluejays. The first bullet point I have in my notes here is with because the Toronto Blue Jays with with Vladimir Guerrero junior and hundred. View. A Hundred Kirk. This is a wide team and I love and as much as as high as I am on the radio. I'm very excited. See the Blue Jays in the playoffs this help them or hurt them here I think dot you've seen all hundred kirk hit I. Think how can you? How can you say anything other than than the with helps them yeah. I like the idea that maybe Vlad as just gonNA break out suddenly in the playoffs because he's looked really good the last couple of weeks or so and it would. Be Wonderful if he just figured out how to hit the ball in the air and really had a great October and it'd be really fun if Nate Pearson came back from injury and turned into a bullpen weapon this month but I just personally don't see a great case for the Jays over the race I think they're both good teams. I. Think The an exciting team with a bright future but the race are really good and I think beyond review who is not even starting game one for the Jays I just don't have A. Lot of faith in most of that trump rotation or bullpen frankly and other than the game restarts it seems to me that Tampa Bay has the pitching edge both in the bullpen and the rotation and offensively maybe it's a wash, but it just seems to me that the the pitching edge is firmly in Tampa Bay side. So I think the Toronto Bullpen and this is going to be the kind of thing that gets said right before they give up nine runs in the seventh inning eight-game one I think it's better than baby. You think maybe they get given credit for I could see a path with this pitching because what they what they're going to try to do apparently is is bullpen game it with a match shoemaker taking up a little bit of load on the front of the maybe we get Pearson in the end of game one we haven't seen blake Snell pitched that deep in games in the postseason in the past, and then game too. I think you could make an argument that we use the best pitcher in the series. So if that happens. If. The blue, Jays do need to shoot the moon but I could see how they get it how they get it done with that said, this raise team just has so much depth in the lineup. There are good defensively they have so many pitchers not just the scary. Snell Morton tile glass now types just the I mean we saw this in the unfortunately in the for for me in the last weekend of the of the regular season where they shut down the phillies like even down to bespectacled Wade Miley who was lights out in the last game of the season yeah. The razor they've just got too much pitching I. Think as much as funny. It would be to see the the Blue Jays fight I think the the rates are going to take this one pretty handling.

"Keep him from being more gifted than that, I think will be solved their base again. I don't think he'll be in Teheran. Don't Who knows? Gold Glove caliber defender. You know, one of best pitchers in baseball, you know, certainly not as a rookie in particular, but I don't think he'll be a very good hitter in a solid defender in time. Jim Callis witness Nobody better than him looking at prospects from MLB dot com and MLB pipeline to young players that we may not be familiar with that air in the East that we could see this season of playing. The Yankees and Mets, starting in Philadelphia, which Spencer Howard is a right handed pitcher has four above average pitches, touched 99 in the Arizona Fall League last year. And Ah, I understand. Jim has Bryce Harper in his corner campaigning for him to be on the big club. Yeah, You know, it's it's again. I mean, it'll be interesting when you have these team up now everybody's kind of a contender with 16 team playoff, but I do think with guys who haven't played in the big leagues. Especially pitchers. It's very easy for you to say you know what? We're not gonna put it on the open day roster will wait a week or 10 days and then Lo and behold, you don't have to give him a full year service time with weights going to calculate this year. No, I mean, you know, not just Spencer Howard, the Phillies, but that Butt out bomb Who's Ah, Corner infielder, Third baseman first baseman. They were to the better players in the folly. You know, Howard guy throws very hard but also had won the better changes some fall league Hey, You look very, very good. He was the best. Hey, when he had the most consistent stuff, the best assistant stuff. I guess it's best. We put any starter in the fall league last offseason and bomb I thought was one the better hitters. I think he's a hit overpower guy, but there's gonna be plenty of power. Not a great third baseman may wind up first, but I would be I'm very surprised you considering that those guys are close to being ready. And you know, even if we had a 10 team Ah, you know, playoff configuration like we normally do. You know, I think we would have seen those guys up pretty quickly for the Phillies because I think they're obviously trying to win this year. Ah, Nate Pearson with the Buffalo Blue Jays through he throws 101 mile an hour fastball. Hiss slider reaches 90. Ah, and he'll be in the rotation. It looks like for the Blue Jays Jim before long. Yeah. I don't know how much of the content of the villages are, Um, but, you know, he's a perfect example. I mean, again. I hate the whole service. Time rules that big aiming. I understand what Tonto. I don't blame them. I don't blame him. I mean, it makes sense from a business standpoint, but the team's tap dance around this, so this guy needs to work on that, or oh, whatever. And all I say is the last spring training camp. I was in before things got shut down was he needn't talk to Nate Pearson that day. Talk to guys around the club. You mean the big leaguers were saying? This guy's the best picture we have in camp? We like this stuffs. Ridiculous. I mean, I saw him he was in the following two years ago. I saw him throw No. Granted. He was airing it out for one inning. I thought 104 miles an hour in the false start game. Well, throw 103 and Pete Alonso hit it out for a home run to centerfield. Yeah, but I mean, this guy's stuff. I mean, People has the best pure stuff of any starting pitcher in the minors, and he looked great in spring training. He throws a strike and he's not altar Altar polish. But he's also not, you know, hitting the bull. You know, he's got some command of control. And, you know, I mean, this guy's good. He's really, really good. And I do think We had a system where service time you know wasn't manipulable anyway, but that's a word like like it is. Yeah. I think he's on the open day roster because he looked great in spring training, and he He's going to be a treat to watch, so I'm very much looking forward to his debut. I all but you know he's got all these guys were talking about, you know, keeping guys down for six days. I mean, he might be a little bit longer. Expensive turned the rotation is, but I'd be very shocked if he isn't on the team. By like the end of the first week of August. What was Kris Bryant gonna learn in six days in Des Moines? Give me a break You rank. Tampa Bay is having the top farm system in the game, and they have gym two studs A Brendan McKay, the left handed pitcher who's like Otani. He's an accomplished hitter and the shortstop wander Franco, who has been ranked as the number one prospect in baseball. Tampa Bay's loaded They are tan. Tampa Bay's really loaded and you know it. You McKay He was up last year, so I don't think that's necessarily Ofhis time manipulation and I also do you think he depending on the way your schedule is who's in Europen rotation? You could get started down for a little bit, too, But now he's he's very polished. Comparing into like need Pearson. His stuff is is good where Pearson has great stuff. But McKay is extremely extremely polished Fastball, curveball, cutter changeup, all for strikes. I think we'll see.

"Next year if there is a full season assuming there's a vaccine, so. Absolutely just knocked over here, t she'll. You got. I think a lot of teams will get creative with how they go about the pitching staff in particular, and not letting guys go out there and throw their full innings counter whatever, but for certain guys that are young and really need to prove themselves merit out and I I fully on the Leonard. It out within moderation for Nate Pearson. We'll touch on that later, but other guys like Nathan K I. Think is at the top list for me. I much rather see him with a rotation spot in A. Sixty game spent than chase fucking Anderson who got? Training one point l like come on now, let's go. The other question I have and I. Don't know if you guys thought about this, so let's say we do come out of the gates. Slow in a sixty games. You know sprint. I'm almost ready to this use. Whatever the heck roster space I have left to have a six man rotation so I get Anthony case in innings. For, sure. Your worst case scenario I had him benching Isla ballpen a little bit more regularly. Regardless of the fact, they might be getting in an inning. Peppered in here are not am I saying Anthony Ks guy going for him even in a bullpens position is, he's left hand, and he can get people out with our period and miss some bats. So. News that. You're walking into the sneezing. I'm I'm looking at the the players that we have in. There aren't a lot of players right now. That are on there just a one year deal like I think it's Travis Shaw is only here for a year correct? Correct just this season. Okay, shoemaker, this is his option, and and that's it right he's. Next year same thing with Anderson is there's a club option next year. Yeah, I think they believe. Up, on, yeah, for some reason I remember, we had two years on. Remember the justification for the second are what was? Chavis Shaw, just with his service time he can be derived for a second year. There was that he's got the arbitration Shaw. That's right, so sean could back. He's right now on a one year deal technically, but I wonder control and Giles Right? He's the big one if. You WanNa. If you want to include shoemaker because I do think he can contribute at a high level as well. He proved it last year at least in April. Giles not only could be a trade chip. You wanted them to be, but he can be a contributor for at least two more years. If you wanted to resign them, so there are some there are only a handful of players with contract situations that they have to prove it otherwise. You have a bunch of youth, right, chief, good robust youth here so at that point. You're I agree with you. Guys want to see what you got. I guess we should tie napier. Sit into this because that is the obvious, elevate room. I understand like why not I understand..

"And again, I'll just get your quick thoughts on them because we really don't need a super deep dive in if one stands out that you really like you can let us know. Let's start off with the with the jerk store. Jed Jerko is he somebody that you're interested in. He usually finds a bit of playing time every year. Can he find enough to to draw some interest out of you the jerks store in Saint Louis? The only way he's finding a lot of playing time is if carpenter can't hold down third base. Well, we know he's going to get hurt. Not do. Well, we call it this past year. We'll probably call it again. I mean when nailed that one so. Yeah. I mean, he's really struggled at third base in. But with Goldie now into he doesn't have the option of going back to first. So if he goes anywhere is going to go second. So in that scenario Jerko could become a fairly regular player at at third base. If carpenter really struggles. So I'm less. I'm I'm not watching Jerko as much in spring training is I'm watching Matt carpenters defense. Okay. That makes sense. You know, the hard part is you know, Wong is a gold glove caliber say he's second base. And they've really wanted to put a premium on defense. But you can't have a, you know, whole at at third base. You can't have a guy throw cross the diamond and they're not taking taking carpenter off He'll. hill. I don't know how well thought out this whole trading for Goldie was when they could have just signed Machado and played Machado at third and played carpenter. I, but who this is why I'm guess, I'm not a major league GM. Yeah. I do think Goldie works overall in terms. I think these going to kill for them to that. You're making makes a lot of sense that it almost seems it would have seemed better to keep carbon Dr first and then just slot in Machado. I agree with that. We've on doing a guy that I can't quit. And I I'm still not going to just because is another one of those like I like the person. And so that definitely plays a role I will freely admit that and it's Todd Frazier. And I know Peter Lonzo stands out there really excited about him. And I get it. I saw him at the on a folly. He crushed that like one hundred three mile per hour. Fastball often Nate Pearson and he's got the forums from heaven. He's yoked. But I don't think he's like some ready made, you know, first base prospects. That's generally an oxymoron. He is an exception though. He is a quality hitter with great power, particularly awful defender, though. It's an awful defender. And I don't think he's gonna swing a miss a ton. I think he is going to a ton and Frazier's going to get an opportunity whether you guys like it or not whether you think he should or not that none of that. Really matters. The simple fact is is that they're going to give him an opportunity, and I think that he isn't that far from a rebound last year, it was brutally to thirteen and he had to thirteen the year before as well. But with a two fifteen eyeso- in that made it a lot more palatable because he put up a one, oh, eight WRC. Plus, so while any three forty four on base percentage and seventeen and then three oh three last year. So because then walks adulterate rates. Yes. So he's not that far from rebounding to a point where if he's over a hundred if he's one hundred WRC plus better Todd Frazier is going to keep playing and so careful on your Alonzo shares. But how do you feel about Frazier?.

carpenter Todd Frazier Jed Jerko Nate Pearson Goldie Machado Peter Lonzo Saint Louis GM Wong Matt carpenters Alonzo
