"Oh, yeah, He's up towards the top of the list, and he was a guy who is obviously a hot commodity when he when he was available, But the Lakers had some interest in him. And he actually chose the Phoenix Suns by all reports over the Los Angeles Lakers, and he liked that young roster and this is obviously before they got Chris Paul, but you saw what he was able to do with that team. Get them playing defense, which is the biggest thing that you need to do. They're going to be successful man Ba but also kind of helped bring Devin Booker along. I remember talking to him. This was early last season like seven years ago, whenever that was hey, was talking about Devin Booker and he said, you know, look You might not be the best defender in the league. But this is a guy who every single game will say, Hey, let me guard the best player on the other team, and he was talking about how important that is for young team to see your leader. Just take the initiative. Wanna be that guy even if he wasn't quite there physically the defender So obviously the addition to Chris Paul is just take this team to another level. But Monty Williams laid the foundation for that trade. Being successful by what he did with this team and seeing what they did in the bubble. They were already building momentum before they got Paul. And now I think they're legit, You know, title contender with money, Williams's coach and Chris Paul at the home. We know the Lakers aren't the Lakers when LeBron and Anthony Davis right of that light up. They've actually gotten a couple of impressive winds with their supporting staff, but they've also laid some eggs signs LeBron and a day That the Lakers care where they finish in the standings and the only thing that the Lakers care about making sure their two superstars are 100% when the post season gets underway. Yeah, that's priority Number one. Obviously, they're not going to do anything to jeopardize the health of Anthony Davis and LeBron James. If it means, you know, getting a slightly higher seed. Obviously we talked to them. I'm sure they would tell you they'd like to avoid that play in scenario just because you never know what's going to happen in a single elimination or even a double elimination scenario. But look, it's the Los Angeles Lakers. They're defending champions. They have the best defense in the league. They've been tremendous defensively, even without those two on the court. I think that they think that if they get those guys they don't care when they play the Clippers. They don't care when they play the jazz. They're gonna have to beat him eventually to get to the NBA Finals. I'm sure they have all the confidence in the world there, so it really becomes a question of you know, they have some pieces now with Drummond and incorporating their guard rotation, and they need to see that with LeBron Nancy Davis. Back on the court just to kind of work out the kinks before they hit the playoffs. Because I mean, if they are one of the lower seeds, you know the 60 they might be playing the Clippers in the first round of the sun. If they do slip into the plane game they might be playing. You know, the jazz in the first round, so I think it just takes away a little bit of their leeway in terms of preparing for the post season, But you know, this is a championship team championship pedigree. All that talk and they have LeBron James, who you know was in the M V P conversation. Maybe the flat runner before he went down with injuries, so I don't think anybody to worry about the Lakers, even if they drop in the standings little bit. I do want to get back into the M V p conversation with you. But let's table that for a second. You talked about dropping into that play in scenario for teams in both the Eastern and the Western Conference, And yet LeBron's gonna be out long up the Lakers right now. We're still well ensconced did not acting worry about that. But And they lose for their next five and will certainly be having that conversation. The East to me is even more fascinating because you've got a couple of teams that have actually played damn good ball over the last several weeks. The Hawks are eight into an air Last 10. The Celtics are eight and two in their last, and the Knicks have won six in a row and their seven and three in their last 10. They currently hold down the 456 Miami who is any NBA Finals and got a much needed come from behind win to stop a losing streak of their own. Tonight are the team outside at the seven spot right now. Can Atlanta, Boston, New York We know two and three are gonna hold on and not have to play in that play in round. If you believe Miami is to team outside, looking in Charlotte's handicapped, I don't think they can make that kind of run. Miami is going to take a run at those three teams, which one is most likely the fall of two heat. Get hot enough. Yeah, I think it's probably the Knicks. And that's just because their offense I know there aren't a tremendous run right now. But they have to do so much defensively every single night and give them credit. They have done it all year. But if you look at a team like Miami and Victor Oladipo's been out, I think if he does come back and kind of incorporates himself into that line if you're going to see a much different Miami heat team But you know the Hawks. I think they're for real. They they've got Bogdan Bogdanovich playing tremendously right now. Nate McMillan has really freed him up offensively to do a lot more. You see a lot of these games three. Young isn't having these, You know, 35 40 Point games, He's able to be more of a facilitator pickup assist and kind of take over and pick his spot. So I really like with that team's done. They've defensively Clint Capela is just an absolute monster. Average 20 points 20 rebounds this week, which is just unheard of S O. I really do like Atlanta. Boston obviously is playing really well right now. I think they're getting healthy and it's 48 gets back in the mix over there. They're gonna be good. So, you know, I think the Knicks are kind of not by no fault of their own kind of the odd team out there in that mix, But look, if you're in the Eastern conference, I think that one seed it is very important because those top three the Sixers, ness and bucks. Have proven themselves to be head and shoulder of above. The rest of you can avoid playing one of those teams in the second round, and instead you end up with, you know the hawks of the Celtics, the heat or whoever it is, I think that's gonna be a big advantage for whoever gets that number one seed. Sixes. God couple of legs up Over the last few days, they won the mano a mano showdown between them and the Nets, So they now not only moved the game ahead..
Giannis returns, Bucks cool off surging Hawks 120-109
"Yeah this intent to Cooper was among seven Bucks to score in double figures in a one twenty one oh nine win over the hawks the NBA's two time reigning MVP played twenty five minutes and delivered fifteen points on seven of twelve shooting to go with five rebounds three steals two assists and a block it was his first action since missing six straight with a sore left knee true holiday led Milwaukee score sheet with twenty three points while brook Lopez provided nineteen with twelve rebounds blocked in Baghdad of extreme six three pointers and had a game high twenty eight points but the hawks lost for only the fifth time in twenty two games since Nate McMillan became head coach I'm Dave Ferrie

"24 to 1 is outrageous value you and I agree on that, Um, your thoughts on money. Williams is a coach. I really like the money was in New Orleans. I know he never really got the team anywhere as far as postseason action went, but I thought it was more because of roster than his coaching. I was so glad when you gotta check second chance. How good a coach do you think money? Williams's Oh yeah, He's up towards the top of the list, and he was a guy who is obviously a hot commodity when he when he was available by the Lakers had some interest in him. Six, has got a couple of legs up over the last few days. They won the mano a mano showdown between them and the Nets, So they now not only moved the game ahead. They have the tiebreaker because it said, Dad, and they took two out of three in the season serious this year. Plus that's dropped a game today with Katie being out, so it's up to a game and a half. Sixes in the catbird seat to have that all important number one seen your eyes? Yeah. Seems like it, especially Joel indeed can stay healthy. You know it took him what half to get back to his old MVP status after coming back from that kind of scary knee injury. So, um, I think they've just got all the pieces and you know you worry about them offensively in the playoffs, but in terms of regular season team the way they play defense And having a guy like indeed, you know, combined with the Nets injury problems that they're facing. They just can't seem to get James Harden, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving on the corner at the same time, so combine all of that, and I think the sixes have, you know kind of the inside track for that number one seed..
LeBron James sprains right ankle in loss, out indefinitely
"Lebron James rolled his right ankle in the second quarter of the Lakers ninety nine ninety four loss to the visiting Atlanta Hawks James briefly returned to the game and even hit a corner three pointer to extend his NBA record streak of games with at least ten points to one thousand thirty six but he called a timeout left the court shortly afterward knocking over a chair and frustration as he went to the locker room John Collins had twenty seven points and a season high sixteen rebounds to lead the hawks who are in their eighth straight win which has about forty eight minutes first wins you know that's how we came out of the like we try to stick to that target Trae young had fourteen points and eleven assists for the hawks who's winning streak began after they hired Nate McMillan as head coach I'm Dave Ferrie

"If you want to you, you bring you put a lot of him in for some of that work other wings that you could get in the free agent market, a trade market you know Gary Junior hasn't come in this conversation he has to that's a piece that gets them a little bit closer to where they wanna go. Even if you're playing three kind of smaller guards at once they, they have some room to work with their but that's that's a big chunk of playing time that was. Helpful in certain French type situations in hitting bigshots but also in terms of plus minus kind of sandbag. jv Can we get Blake Griffin there? That'd be great is there is there a wing defender on the Pistons that we can throw in that trade that will make it at this point use you'd assume that the Pistons just want to dump the contract, right? We're at that point with Blake Griffin Yeah Yeah I like that idea that's a good idea for being going to go for. It makes no sense. How many more years left on that deal does he have to hot? I think we're at the point where the Pistons Probably WanNa move on for him and if there isn't a lot of long-term money still left on that contract. That's the right sort of gamble with he Mike Portland should be taking now a little worried that considering their biggest issue this year was injuries and what we just said about Collins, and then I don't know going forward if Nurkic is going to be bothered by an invalid. Injuries, he had he was pretty much out for longer than a year I think we are just about a year. So who knows but and like demon CJ urge aren't getting any younger dame's certainly on the other side of thirty at this point I believe cj is just about to be having said that I need I need good. Blake Griffin minutes to come back like he's had too much of a impactful career in this league to just like wilt away playing next to bobby. Brown and in. In some of the other guys that I can't even think. How could you forget about? Christian would know my God Christian would yeah that's actually the take here. Need to clear space for Christian would write build around the the face of your franchise. These be Christian. So Blake has one more year and then a player option, the following year, which it's almost forty million. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he's GonNa take that. Real, quick here before we sign off Raptors and Celtics as you've been talking, there's been more talk about. The Raptors and Celtic series being boycotted. So we'll see what happens there. But assuming this goes on the first game is scheduled to be tomorrow any quick thoughts rob and we can go around a little bit of just about going into that series and maybe some keys for that I mean if the series does start on time and go as expected, these teams have been kind of circling each other all year it's been one of the match I've been most excited to see in terms of the dynamics of it changes a little bit with Gordon Hayward situation, but I mean, the raptors are ferocious the hell this is the kind of team. You want to see them tested against a really versatile good defensive team like the Celtics. I'm really looking forward to the chess match of it. Yeah. I. Do wonder about the Hayward piece I feel like he's a very important player for series like this Toronto plays such good defense. It's going to be a freak and war and a grind for Jalen Brown Jason Tatum. Kemba Walker. If those guys can score sling against Toronto, they might win but it's not going to be easy yet. Kyle lowry let's hope he's healthy because I think he could give Kemba fits Kemba has coming back from a knee injury in his looked pretty good They've ramped up minutes during the season games and he's looked really good. But I, I would not wanNA face kyle lowry healthy Kyle lowry in a playoff series. If I'm Kemba Walker trying to make my I e playoff front of my career, I'll just say that because they're gonNA throw multiple bodies I multiple defensive coverages and that's where Gordon Hayward as a stabiliser could really really help So I think it's going to be an awesome series and you know to two teams that are full of really good young players. That, that are ready to prove that they belong in the Raptors of course, winning the championship last year even though they did that I think they still just have a huge chip on their shoulder about you know quiet Leonard leaving, and now they're still I don't think many people are picking winning all Kemba Walker. Another uconn legend is a key to the series is what you're saying. That's what I'm hearing. Yes. That is what I'm saying and I'm trying to. Think of a wake forest player here. I don't think on that. Myth where you at Ishmael. Al Franken new guy. I. Dunno Chris Sale Hord. Kemba men after watching him in Charlotte here the last few years it's It's GonNa be great to see what can do. We already know you can win a championship right Javy. Oh totally you you might even say to had you just had he just stayed put or they give him any teammate in Charlotte who's worth a damn but. Yeah. It's going to be a fascinating series. I've loved obviously watching Kemba come alive again in the first round although it was against the sixers. So who knows what he will be going forward it is a bummer though I think the the through line of what you guys are saying is a lot of this is coming down to absences and injuries lowery might be out hayward certainly will be out and..

"Down the road here I mean I think the whole premise of this is the idea that if Brett Brown is not the right coach of this team, you have to at least try right before you start entertaining dramatic ideas of blowing up the team you're really banking on a tie. Lou to come in and make sense of this. You know a different kind of coach and maybe that's the most dramatic difference in terms of this Miami Philadelphia parallel is accountability right? Like if nothing else the Pat Reilly. Erik spoelstra regime is an engine of accountability and that's been the complaint all along with Brett Brown is that guys like Ben Simmons Joel Embiid in particular are not being held to account are not being forced to play the way they should or not being your that voice for Like br bread is a good human being and good at relating to people and good at connecting with guys. But clearly, that was not his strong suit in terms of getting those guys to play the way they needed to. So there comes a point at which regardless you know I think breads a good coach. But that voice wasn't reaching anybody. You certainly wasn't reaching the most meaningful members, the organization which are Joel Embiid Ben Simmons, and so sometimes, it changes sake can be meaningful in that particular way. I it is funny. What time Miami Philadelphia there are those close from Josh Richardson where he literally just said what Rob said in. So many words it's like word for word culture accountability. I was somewhere with was culture and accountability. Now I'm not. We got to change that like that was a direct quotes Dot Richardson is known anybody having said that though it would have been better if Jefferson, like made a couple more shots. Yeah. Initiative offense a little bit better if he played like he did in Miami so. I don't know obviously the situation is a mess. Run out of time here. So let's do either the blazers over the Magic Tom as as our guests you WanNa talk about the future of Orlando or Portland Portland let's go. The wrong answer Tom. Talking about Portland. Just frees us up to do a whole magic podcast later don't. I want you to have the ball for for sixty minutes on the Orlando Magic. Takes don't worry about it, but Aaron Gordon though so obviously, Portland had a pretty miraculous run here they're barely getting by on the court right now it seems like everyone just needs a nap like in the middle of the game, they just need to set up the blankets in the locker room wherever is going on backstage there and take some time off to. Damian, Lillard at least for this next game on Wednesday which. Would end here so. Sorry if they ended up making them racket come back and when Gabriel scored fifty points, but we'll just assume. Tom, what's what's the path forward here? Do they have enough as currently constructed? They need like one more piece in there good or do they need something a little bit more significant? Ben I think they need a ball mover three, four wing Draymond green is always thrown out as the guy that a that they need. They need just someone who's able to relieve some of the pressure off Damian Lillard, defend and pass. Because I. Guess The the point is that Nurk was supposed to be that guy, but he doesn't play any defense right now whether you can chalk it up to conditioning rare being away from the game for a year these dealing with a death in the family, but they have provided absolutely no No pressure whatsoever defensively, and Nurk is a really good passer But I think they just need someone on the wing not trigger Reza They got mellow who's as you know as much of a black holes, any player in the League on the wing. So going forward I do think that they need to be pragmatic about their ceiling in this current format and I love the back court receive mccollum, and Damian Lillard. But I also love the idea of them. Being for a guy who's able to be. In an I duNno. If there is a player Andrea Goodall in his prime, but someone like that, who can defend and move the ball and be the kind of that that wing defender that can also be a point guard in a pinch. Am I crazy for thinking that that might be Kyle Anderson's music. Thinking in my head, but that'd be a great pickups for them like I love that idea and that's the threshold you're working with right. You're not going to get a guy that defends and moves the ball and hits threes. You might be able to get to those things and so Anderson's I already have visions in my head of him being in that you know the Mohawk lists spot essentially of being able he has to shoot five corner threes in this playoff game and it's GonNa. Come down to whether he hits one of them are three of them and isn't that isn't Kyle. Anderson. Just tall and Turner though. Rude. How.

We're GonNa talk about Tuesday night's games, clippers, mavs, and nuggets and jazz, and we're going to get into some offseason talk for teams that have been eliminated perhaps some teams that are about to be eliminated. But I it's eight PM Pacific Time on Tuesday right now, the biggest story in the NBA is players and coaches reactions to the Jacob. Blake shooting is really kind of unavoidable at this point, the raptors players and Celtics players have talked about potentially boycotting today's game. So by the time you hear this, they're probably was a decision on that a lot of players talked about it yesterday just in media availability favorably Jalen Brown, and some others I saw but doc rivers was especially poignant last night after the game he actually waited until after the game to talk about this. And he like took his mask off and delivered a really heartfelt tearful message just about what's going on in the country I. Believe we have the audio of that. So if Steve Our producer complain that right now it's.
Pacers fire coach Nate McMillan after four seasons
"To the Indiana Pacers have fired head coach Nate McMillan. The team had just announced two weeks ago that they were giving MacMillan a one year contract extension. But after getting swept in the first round of the playoffs, the team decided it was time to let him go. MacMillan had been the head coach for the pacer of the last four seasons, but was three and 16 in the playoffs, not making it out of the first round any of those years. Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard says. It was a very hard decision but wants to move in a different direction, and the search for a new coach begins

"This would this is tough. This is a tough thing right now, they find themselves literally standing on the precipice looking down. And it's not good. And frankly, you come out, and you got to fight you have to fight to claw back in and win a game. And and show some pride because there's a whole lot going on tomorrow. Yeah. These kind of games are interesting Bob because look the Pacers happened though in the back of their minds or not as good as Boston. And if they want to they can cave in in the season tomorrow and not bother with flying out the box for game five. But I think I think they will fight. That was weird fad young us today. Multiple times you got to fight fight fight. How he put it? Yeah. And there's some recent history in these kind of games two years ago. The patients were down three oh to Cleveland and they lost game four. But they only lost by four points. They did fight. And then before they can go back in two thousand eleven eight a first round series with Chicago. They were down three. Oh and one game four took the series back to Chicago and then lost game five, but they certainly came out and put forth in that for. I think this team will put forth a serious effort tomorrow. I they I think they have enough pride. They do not want to be swept out of the playoffs on their home court. You know, they're frustrated by the fact, they played with the Celtics throughout most of these games but had about a quarter quarter and a half in east game where they just collapsed and could not score. So I think they've got enough pride in themselves that they're going to put forth enough for tomorrow and try to extend this thing for another game. I think the the the problem you have you brought it up. I think it's a good point. I think the Celtics are the better team. And and as you know, you've covered this longtime. Your weakness is really do get exposed over the course of a series, and you know, the face without Victor depot. And he hasn't been there for a while. But they still find themselves in a situation where? The the problems in these quarters where they don't score is. There's there's not that guy out there can stop rally by the other team. Stop running up get a hoop, and that's this now really being exposed for what it is in this particular series. Yeah. The patients have really struggled in there have cooled off since for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's because they are not patient enough. And somebody takes a quick side other times it's because they're to patient and somebody passes up a good shot. And they don't have as you said like all the depot where you can just give the ball to and ask him to create something for you. They've got involved basically all five guys on the court to get something out of their offense. And they have not done a very good job of that. I think they're half court offense to spend a weakness all year. I like Nate McMillan a lot as a coach. I think though that the the soft spot is to have court offense. They just the ball get stagnant. Guys. Standing around watching two guys run a pick and roll. And they struggle a lot to get points out of their half court offense. So I don't know what to do about this point. Yeah. I mean, you can't take anything dramatically. You are who you are at this point, obviously. But I do think they will you know, they they have had good games off instantly. They've had good moments pensively. So I know they they watched the second half of Friday's game innocent tardy this morning and just to see, you know, what's happening here. I mean, my alternative took up quick sites early in the second half last night. He hit us. I hit a three pointer to start the second half. And that guy that into said that he was hot in the forced to couple shortly after that by Donna that's struggling. It's beginning goes along, he's not really a creator. And then they'd get bogged down in to where they're just kind of looking for somebody else to score, and it's not working. So you know, we'll see how it goes tomorrow. But they sort of need to come out with some effort one of the things to Mark is in these are, especially. Games one and two they couldn't they couldn't. They could knock down couldn't finish it the rim and opportunity. Yeah. I'm just saying can't finish at the rim at the highest level for heaven's sakes. Yeah. In game two. I forget, I think I went back and tallied it. I think they were eleven and twenty five eleven twenty five that's not that they're rim, and they missed seven of their last nine sites at the rim. You can't do that. No, tyreek, Lavigne's Mississauga that young has missed a bunch of sites at the rim and game to that young had that shot that this laid on the rim and fell out costs and had a shot that, you know, rolled around the rim and fell out. So they've had you know, what you might call a bad break, but they have just that's the other thing where they'd gotten good sides in their offense or not hitting him. Very well suiting under forty percent for the series the first three games so far. They're not hitting free throws. I know a lot of people are blaming Nate McMillan for this. But you know, I bet you had some teams or. And you feel responsible for your. No, you're right. It's a that's a tough thing for coach to sit there and watch that enough it is especially since that's something that you work on every single solitary day. And let me remind everyone these guys are at the highest level of basketball, and it's kind of hard to get someone to do what they don't do that particular at this particular time, I think the other thing that we might be overlooking is that it's been an underperforming. Underachieving Boston team that they talked about flipping that proverbial switch and in some respects. It looks like they may have. Yeah, they have you know, they their problem all year was that they had a lot of guys who had to accept a lesser role this year. They got the conference final. Yeah. They got the game seven of the conference finals last year without carry Irving and Gordon Hayward. So those two guys come back this year in suddenly guys like Jalen Brown. Jason tatum. Terry Rozier after take lesser roles, and that's tough. You know, they've got almost too much talent it might be their advantage that Marcus smart got hurt which opened up minutes for some of those guys on the best. They got together now. Yeah. And and and and Irving after the game last night made that point that we are finally the team we expected to be coming into the season. They've gained their chemistry. Hayward is healthier now. And they are now the team that people thought was going to play in the NBA finals this year. It's kind of a bad luck situation for the Pacers to have having drawn Boston for the first round win Boston. They will be the most talented team of Eastern Conference. They're not your typical seed by any stretch of the imagination. So that's tough. That's the tough part. You've got Kyrie Irving who's eight future hall of fame. You who is just an outstanding guy who hits fade away with the hand of his face. You've got young guys. In Jayson Tatum and save them Brown who I think five years from now, we'll look back and say, oh, man. Those guys are you know, boy that Boston team was loaded. Having all those all starts, you know, because those guys are going to be off. So it's, you know, the Pacers are not as good as the Celtics. The Pacers have to have it together for basically forty eight minutes to have a chance to win. And they are not doing that. They're having these lapses these collapses during the course of a game where the offense bogs down or they take the wrong shots or they don't have any Florida their offense. They can't afford that against this team because they're not as talented, and that's kind of the predicament. They're in in what they're facing is exactly what we were talking about earlier is that this is a Celtics team, then has and you you enumerated him, Kyrie Irving. Jalen brown. The other. They can pay them three. Now Horford Horford four guys, you can make place who can and Gordon Hayward. Gordon Hayward only in a shot clock. These guys can make plays finishes at the rim. Find somebody else who can do that. And. Yeah, I mean, they've heard everybody talk about how they've underachieved they've listened to it, and it is strange. Sometimes there is a dish in through. Subtraction. Ume? You lose. Marcus smart. You free up minutes you free. You change responsibilities. You all kinds of different things going on. So there's that can you hang on to this school board update. Absolutely. Mark Monte from Pacers dot com, and we'll come back. We'll also talk about his wildly successful book. Reborn. It's about the.

"Two Mari yellow. All right. Stick to the NBA Nate McMillan. The head coach of the Indiana Pacers. So right now the third in the Eastern Conference they won the last two games. And right before the all-star break, they won seven out of the and they've been there forty and twenty eight and five since Victor Oladipo went down, and he was the only all star their team. So stock up to the Indiana Pacers. Excellent coaching job. And that's even going back to last year in the first round of the playoffs. That's a tough Pacers team without deep on skeptical. If it will continue, but definitely deserving a phrase so far stock down number one, Robert Kraft. I've talked about this for the last two days. Whatever side of the fence, you are in this one whatever you think about Robert Kraft. He was stupid to to this day spa in Jupiter, Florida just stupid for a man of that power manner that influence to go into one of those places dumb. Nothing. Good could come out of it. And he deserves everything he's getting right now in the public chastising court of public opinion. And then also legally by league much won't probably happen. But what he did. Here was just dumped the put himself in that situation. So stock down to someone I usually like the praise, but in this case, he was dumb and Robert Kraft. Stock down. Number two is the NC double A. So the NBA is proposing to bring back the draft age to eighteen so that would eliminate one and done that's bad for the NCW. I know we can all complain about one in and all that by a guy like Zion. Williamson is the best story in college basketball this year, and you won't have any more in a few years. So a stock down to the NC double A is they're going to be hurt by this one and done for Steph. Oh, quickly rapid fire. Let's go stock down number one Christian hackenberg. We already covered five picks in three starts in. The upstart. Got bench today for burger men. Burger led a touchdown drive. The people who thought to use a second round pick on Christian hackenberg. They're still employed somehow, I don't know. I don't know who they are. I don't know who they are are still employed. Those people. Second stock down goes to this whole UNLV. Rick Pitino story if you've seen this. But now every every head coaching job is now going to be want. This job does Rick Pitino at that job. Why are we so forgiving Rick Pitino? Like, oh, all of a sudden, he Rick Martinez gonna make all your problem disappeared. No, he'll probably multiply them to make it worse. UNLV's head coach is a former Louisville assistant under Patino awkward.

"Well, I think as I eavesdropped on the conversation that it's not only lacy, but how your legacy ca then create opportunities gifts that will reveal in the future. So when you mention Charles Barkley while he didn't win a championship, you know, his career. And obviously is personalities gifts is what set the table for career in broadcasting and Charles, you never know some day. He may be governor of state, you know, in this country or curve who want a lot of camping trips like Hori, and while that was special and unique to be able to to win champships Santa Tonio in Chicago. I was how those experiences informed future as a general manager broadcaster. And then of course, now a coach, but legacy isn't. Portent that's a footprint that you leave behind. And there's the championship Ray the, obviously, which is ideal. But also there's legacy in terms of how you treat people and your integrity and the way you drive and things along those lines. So I kind of look at legacy of number our at least through you know, at a different lens. Maybe a number of different ways to look at legacy. You know, one of the things that when I think of legacy is obviously, you know, one of the legacies that you left being a head coach over at UCLA. And now would you see that job is vacant right now? And you're trying to figure out what should you do where do they go? How do they get back to where Westwood was the was the place every college basketball player on the west coast wanted to be what's the first thing that UCLA must do when they look at themselves in terms of going for the next higher. Well, you wanna look at a great fit. And so often fit is determined by timing and Earl Watson who I had the honour of coaching for four years. Matter of fact, he never missed a start an iron man, I as a starter for us for four consecutive years. And the fact that stops along the way not just UCLA. Then thirteen years in the NBA. And while he was in the NBA playing for Nate McMillan Huby Brown, you know, influenced by coaches and NBA. You know executives like Jerry West y'all so played for Jerry Sloan I learned from Popovich and our Sione when he was coaching DV dream in Austin, Texas. He's drawn from grapes peering through. So, you know, I feel this point with Earl Watson background is UCLA basketball players thirteen years. The league is experiences. Learn from different coaches time with the Phoenix Suns the head coach are set him up as the ideal marriage or fit and naturally UCLA's. Gonna do a national search president gene block, and yet let director, Dan Guerrero. Bob Myers, another my former players head of the search committee of and I think when all the dust settles. There won't be a better fit in the country. Then our Watson in terms of where he ad where he is in terms of his aides. He'd have the opportunity to stay at UCLA for some decades. And we haven't had continuity UCLA. John wooden was there for twenty seven years, and I've been one of the challenges when you look throughout the country the schools women national titles on a regular basis. Other one by coaches that have been there for fifteen twenty twenty five thirty thirty five forty years, consecutively whether it was eight off ramp, but Kentucky Duke, ROY Williams and Bill self currently Kansas North Carolina, lute Olson twenty five years. Tom is over twenty years behind your cues close to forty years. Jim Calhoun, Connecticut, you know, twenty five years of these coaches, stay in place, they kingdoms less. John wooden dairy off up did and even. Have tough years. They get bumped down the first round occasional losing season. I like Dylan over chain. Right. Went through some tough times early some tough times middle of his career vila-nova, but they stayed with them. And now he's want to out of three national titles. And he's been there sixteen seventeen years..
