"Right now on CBS, there's the Einstein Verizon commercial every time I think I'm out. They're still doing it. And I'm telling you, I bet you NCAA action, you're going to see it a lot. As a matter of fact, as a matter of fact, as he made that drop, it matched directly. The fist pump brilliant moment. That freaked me out. We need a punch up. I can't love that anymore. I know. What's up, what's up? It's something new and fresh for the tornado for the masters. I don't know man. If the number that I heard, they paid Paul Giamatti to dress as Scrooge and Einstein is accurate. They're going to use the hell out of these commercials. It's got to get paid every time. No, no. Those days are over. It's a one shot. It's one shot. One shot. There's no such thing as commercial. My friend bought a Corvette with doing that. One shot. No, it's good to know. I'm a Cheerios commercial. The offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs have shown up to the parade in t-shirts. Oh yeah, these are great. Put them up zero sacks. Wow. I agreed Humphrey well done, sir. I'm telling you. In green too. I can't tell you. It's green. Are they just going to repurpose these for Oregon after? What did I tell you? The stat that told the story for Super Bowl 57 that few people are talking about. They got it. Zero sacks, mahomes sitting duck there, huh? He did move around pretty well. He's coming around. Come around. Come around. Come on. You gamblers are all out of your house. It's all fixed. It's all like, oh, that's what mahomes is. He's such a wake-up call, pal. Thank you. Isaiah Pacheco got off the bus and it's just dancing down the street. Good for him. As he should. He's got the trophy. Good for him. This is great. Everybody forgets. Same round as Brock purdy. He wasn't the last pick in the draft, but Isaiah Pacheco 7th round pick. Let's use him. Let's get him scoring in the Super Bowl. That's it. That's it. Zero sacks. Of Patrick Mahomes. Against the team that had 78 sacks entering the sea entering the Super Bowl on the entire season, they needed 5 sacks to be the all time single season sack leader in the history of the NFL over to pass the 85 bears in the way to passing the 84 bears. That's how good the eagles were and they didn't sack mahomes once in the two sacks that hurts had was when he ran out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage. Nobody was just generally sitting in a pocket and got put down on his ass because these quarterbacks are so damn good. And the lines were good too, man. Some of the best line play you'll see some of the best quarterback play you will see some of the best receiving play you will see what a high level these two teams play that in the highest level sporting event, America puts on its stage and exports. Unbelievable. Zero sacks well done for them. Zero sacks. You got anything else for me over there? Anything else in the chamber? I do real quick. But you know who we should be giving some props to those other people aren't jerick McKinnon, man. When he went, he could have taken that ball into the end zone and think about it. That's what you your whole life. He's in the backyard. He's in the street. I'm scoring a touchdown in the Super Bowl. And yet he remembered this training and he took the ball and he slid down short of the goal line to ensure glory for everybody else. So that's commendable, man, because you could have extra name in the history, which you still did. But, man, that's true. I don't know. I respect that. Two minute drive. If you'd run that in the end zone, it would have reversed the entire advantage they got from the holding penalty. It would have flushed their advantage right down the toilet. And again, when we get a member of the chief's honor, one of my coaches staff on how did that get communicated? And you had to basically say, we're not scoring, staying balanced, don't score. Get down. Well, what I read is the chiefs they call that church mode. So they're trained on that. They know in that situation when the clocks running down to get down. So he just remembered what they practiced and he did it, but still that had to be so hard, rich. So the you're right there. So the order of events, corn dog, church mode. That's a good corn dog. Let's go corn dog ish on the other side. Church mom. None of it would have happened if it wasn't my idea in the script session to get that defensive flag thrown for all the good point. You're welcome. Sorry, Philly. My idea was also my idea to get Nate Peterman in on week 15, Peter mayor. I don't want to brag about where my fingerprints were, but the whole idea was just like, you know what? You don't want to sound like a bracket. You want to take too much credit. Let's get you Kobe Myers throwing that thing back and get it intercepted by a member of the Chandler. The Raiders. It's got to be Chandler Jones because the other guy's name is Mac Jones. That was my little twist. You know, I only know one speed. So they all know. They send a script to you, the punch it up is what you're saying. Well, it's sometimes it's my ideas. It's a collaborative effort. I don't want to get too deep in the weeds. It makes sense. We're out of time. Lauren sapp in studio, Ken Marino and studio. You watching on the Roku channel and listening. See a Thursday.

"Throw. And I think that's why it lets people uneasy. Because it's like, all right, man, we could have just watched this going to overtime or at least that offense really earned it with a touchdown. With all that said, Bradbury came out said it was a holy thought he can get away with it. Other eagles players basically said it's not his fault. We shouldn't have put him in that position. You're never going to look at one play. And that's me all day long. So one, if this ever gets to Brad, after he's listening, bro, you're good. Do you explain it one time? You said it was a whole let it go, man. You had a good year. Don't worry about it. Because whether it's me as a wide receiver, dropping a fourth quarter pass that could have won the game or if somebody else making a mistake. I would walk into that locker room not pointing the finger at that one person. I absolutely am disgusted by teammates that can walk into the locker room and barking about one guy or go to the media and say, that guy ruined the game or blew the game for us. That just, I don't know, it makes my skin crawl, except like that's the weakest way to reflect what is the totality of the game. And in all reality, it's your team is good enough, it would have never got to that point. And I'm not talking about the eagles in particular. I'm just talking about teams that do place blame on a guy. I love what the eagles did. I love everything about how they responded to that flag. You know, and I still think with all of what happened, the eagles had an amazing year. So many guys on that roster proved to be superstars in this league. It's just unfortunate the game ended on what looked like a flag. And it's interesting, Nate, burleson, that you rope the NBA in here now because the Bradbury hold of juju Smith Schuster turned or centered was the center of NFL Twitter turning into NBA Twitter yesterday when juju Smith Schuster on Valentine's Day put out a meme of like it was a Valentine's Day card. I'll hold you and it matters most and a photo of James Bradbury up there seeing happy Valentine's Day, everybody. I saw that. I'm like, wow. And I liked juju. I think he's exuberant and I like his energy, but this is a line crossed. Don't you think? Right there? Yep, 100%. I like being honest with you, rich. Yes. And that's why I can appreciate your platform. Thank you. And I also like, I like showing the duality of how people can sing. So just like you, I like juju, I actually love them. I say, I think that type of energy on the field is necessary. And you need a guy like that. That can have fun and moments where maybe the four player you forget, we're playing a kid today. And maybe we do play, we play better when we're playing loose. So you need it for that. And on top of that, when he's healthy and on top of his game, he's a big we saw what he did in his younger days as a steeler. On the flip side of that, here's where the duality kicks in, I think that move was very lame. So, and if I saw you driving like, bro, that was lame. Why did you do that? Because, you know, you know Bradbury feels bad. Now, whether there's some beef between the two, some trash talk or they have some stuff going on in the past and you were just trying to take a dig at them. Maybe that's understandable. But if you don't know him from a can of paint, he's just another competitor. There's this, they're unwritten rules. Amongst his brotherhood, even though we're competitors, we're in the same fraternity. I'm not going to pour more dirt on you as you're laying on the ground suffering. He feels absolutely terrible for that hold. Don't go out there and retweet or repost a meme like that. And you know, I like AJ brown's response. He's like, he's like, yo, congratulations first. Let me get this out the way. And this is what I mean, this is what I mean by the duality and the respect within this fraternity and brotherhood. Hey David, I was like, yo, congratulations out the way. So nobody can say that I'm mad about the loss. And then he went on to say your TikToker and you got your career revived, but I'm a home. This that in the third and then you never liked that, don't act like you were. And then he ends with but congratulations again. That right there sums up a real mans emotion that just lost the game. And the guy that's pure heart. He's like, yo, real talk. Congratulations. I want a Super Bowl. That's dope. What you just did was super duper lane. So let's just, let's just, you know, let's leave that for everybody else. That's for that's what the guys in the basement that troll, not the ones that put the jerseys on and line up on Sunday. Plus, I mean, the whole country is talking about this hold, right? And many people think they call the penalty call was lame, or should not have been called. I had the same approach as you Nate, which is like, yeah, did he tug his Jersey? Yes. It's a hold. Bradbury even admitted to hold, but do you call it in that situation? The conversation, not like you, and part of the reason why he held his juju did make a nice move on him. You're a good move on, but read the room. Read the room before you hit send on that one. And let's just oh my gosh. What it is, rich like there's been cars throughout you just career where you didn't necessarily read the remote or read the locker room. So, you know, it was an immature model. And I just hope anybody from it. And he's like, you know what, maybe that was a bit much. He should have just like, you know what made it what made people kind of like an easy about it? It was like, well, you should be celebrating. You should be above all of this right now. Like, you're on cloud 9. You should even know what's happening happening on the ground level right now. We shouldn't even see you, bro your feet should be leaving the earth for the next week or so. Come back to earth with us and get on Twitter and be like, oh, that was funny. Do that a week later, but not like within hours. Winning the biggest game of your life. Too soon, you might not, it might be too soon, like forever more for a lot of people.

"Desk right now. Furnished by Granger, which supplies and solutions for every industry Granger is the right product for you. Call click ranger dot com or just stop by. Had a great time hanging with this guy for several hours on the NFL game day morning Super Bowl set on Sunday in Arizona. He nailed the final score. He nailed the winner. He nailed the MVP right down to the dot, he nailed it, stuck the landing, CBS morning's co host, and the NFL today, analyst, as well as an NFL network guy from back in the day on good morning football. One of my favorites and one of yours. Nate burleson back here on the rich eisen show. How are you doing, Nick? I'm good. How you doing? I'm good. I want to ask you about the Super Bowl first, but tell me, tell me your pick 6 numbers. If you don't mind. You got those. I don't want to give everybody else a clue to what's coming. So I'll just shoot you a text. Yeah, yeah. And throw the Powerball in just in case I want to do that one too. I got you, my brother. I got you. My gosh. Nate? And the funny thing is, is that you gave Patrick Mahomes the MVP and we were going to do that a segment later in the commercial break, you're like, yeah, I gave you the MVP too early. I'm like, I don't worry about it. You nailed it all. My goodness. Yeah. I remember you looking at it, like, oh, I don't worry about it. We'll get to that segment in just a bit. But I felt compelled in that moment. It's funny because people kept asking me, or they keep asking me, you know, how did that come up with this formula? Did I pull it out of my, you know what? Or was it something I actually thought about? And it is something I thought about. You know, I was convinced that there would be some creative play caller. You know, I called for four plus trick plays. Didn't necessarily get that, but I just knew that Andy Reid was going to try to do whatever he can to help alleviate some of the pressure from Patrick Mahomes in that offense. And with the receivers being banged up, that just made sense. So it becomes a Patrick Mahomes. Think about offensively, okay? Right. Unless there's a wide receiver running back that has just an explosion, it's most likely going to go through the quarterback. And I know that there's a couple of defenders that could possibly get that award in that game. But for me, the QB is usually the favorite. Now, when it comes to the score, I don't want to give away all of the ways that I break down the scores per week because let's just call it what it is. On a weekly basis, I'm not going to give you that 100% of the time. But it's simple. It's not going to be a low scoring game. So I'm going to eliminate anything from 7 to ten. And then from ten to 20, I do believe that these teams are more explosive than that. Now we're talking 20 to 30. That's usually the sweet spot. Everybody's like, oh, 24 to 21, 28 to 24. That was mine. 20, 24 is mine, yeah. And then from there, I have to figure out if this is going to be a 50 point game by either one of the squads, no 40 point game. That's going to be tough to do with these defenses. Now we have to land in the range that I thought it was going to be 38 35, excluding PAT field goals and maybe even some safeties. I had to figure out the exact sweet spot and that's what I landed on. So it's more to just be saying, oh, this is a random score. I'm thinking about. And that's why I landed. And I'm sure Nate, we share this in common, which is not only trying to be accurate and entertaining in your on air style as well as information dispensing. But maybe most importantly you want to be right. So at what point in the game did you realize the score was materializing in such a way that you could be exactly right Nate at what point of Super Bowl 57 to that dawn upon you? On Sunday. The entire time, I thought that one of your predictions was going to come through. And that is that this is going to be the first double overtime game all I could think about. I just kept thinking about it. I was like, no, we're just going to be right. Back and forth back and forth like a tennis match. And boom. Yeah. Right before that flag on Bradbury, holding juju, that's when I thought, oh, this is going to be my score. But up until that point, I thought that you were right, man. I thought we were headed for an epic overtime Super Bowl here. Now that's in bringing up the Bradbury hold. There's lots to talk about that. Nate barrels in here on the rich eisen show. Let's talk about the James Bradbury hold. Nate, did you like the call? Did you think it should have been called? Not called what's your two cents on that subject matter? It's a hold. It was the right call. And I don't like to call. Now, both things can be true. I would say you have to call that because in that moment, if I'm a receiver, I'm trying to get open and there's a clear graph. This wasn't tic tac. This is a clear grab of the Jersey. And we know ten times out of ten, you see that Jersey pool, you're going to get that flag thrown. Now, the reason I don't like it is because having a flag like that and then the last second field go great for the Kansas City Chiefs and all the fans. Yes, of course. But it's almost like an NBA Finals. Ending on a free throw. And I think that's why it lets people uneasy. Because it's like, all right, man, we could have just watched this going to overtime or at

"If you just want to type it into your computer, most likely at work. But don't worry, you just pop up the screensaver when your boss walks by. 8 four four two O four rich is the number to dial. The parade's going on right now. Everybody's going crazy. I'm watching Kelsey signing autographs for fans. A lot of fun. For the Kansas City Chiefs, and oh, there he is. There's Kelsey with his mom. Loved meeting Donna and Ed this past weekend too, right? We had them on our rich eisen show big game bonus special as we called it on the Roku channel. They had a week. They are the biggest celebrities and Phoenix it felt like. Good for them. Like Travis told his mom, like best week of your life best year of my life. Love it. You know, there's lots of talk that Patrick Mahomes, his wife is demanding an apology from the critics of the chiefs and pundits who picked against him. I kind of, I kind of, I'm on both camps, right? I chose the Raiders to beat the chiefs in the AFC west, but then did a nice little heel turn. Pick the chiefs to win the AFC championship game and the Super Bowl. Lone wolf? On the set of NFL game day morning the AFC championship game mooch chose against both times. Turned his back on it. Nobody on the Fox had picked the cheese. I heard that. It all went eagles. I heard that. And Nate burleson, who chose the chiefs along with me on the set of NFL gaming morning on Sunday and nailed the final score 38 35 and nailed it was going to be mahomes winning the MVP. He's joining us in about 15 minutes time right here. The story du jour in the NFL quarterback carousel while we're waiting for Aaron Rodgers decision and apparently the darkness therapy, it's not at all night all day thing. It's a four day thing and it's not a sitting alone in darkness thing. We did our redo of our coverage of his darkness therapy in our number one because we were kind of what's the word for it way off yesterday. Because he gave the details while we were on the air while he was on patch show. So while we're waiting for that, the story and the quarterback carousel, it's already started to spin because Derek Carr is now a free agent. We knew it, guys. We knew it. The minute we heard, coming off of that Christmas Eve game that I called on NFL network in Pittsburgh, where the Raiders were up. Again, and they couldn't hold on to the lead again. And car through a couple of interceptions, including his last pass as a raider. Was an interception. And that they sent him home. And they wanted to see what they had in Jared Stidham. As soon as you heard that, and then you heard the news about how the Tuesday after the Super Bowl at 4 p.m. Eastern Time, the Raiders had to either pay him or guarantee him the $40 million for this year or cut him. You knew when they had sent him home, this was the end. This was the absolute end. Now the Raiders to their credit made it sound like, oh, we could trade him. Entirely possible we could trade him. And it's just like, well, what was going to acquire a $40 million contract who's going to acquire that when we know you're not going to pay him that? By the evidence that you've sent him home, you're not going to risk him getting injured in the final two games of the year, clearly intend to no longer play him anymore. So why are we going to acquire this and give you draft capital and we could just get him for nothing when he's a free agent. Other than obviously having to pay him his salary, but no compensation comes to you. And why would Derek Carr accept a trade somewhere else with a renegotiated contract when he could just sign a new contract with the team? And leave the Raiders empty handed. Certainly one would think that's the way he would feel, I would prefer to leave the Raiders empty handed at the end of this since I was sent home for Christmas. And that's where it all played out. So now he is a free agent. And I. Have a top 5 list. Oh, for you. Top 5 places where Derek Carr would fit best. Hit it. Number 5 on the list. They need one. I believe they need one. It's entirely possible they could still stick with the guy that they have there. But the Tennessee Titans wouldn't be a bad spot. Oh, Tennessee Titans wouldn't be a bad spot

I would just say you're stupid and move also think it's interesting to me that you said you don't have to like someone to do a good debate but you have to respect them. I usually don't people. I don't like you you're right. You don't have to respect but if you going into a debate if you gotta be able to feel you can be yourself. And the person you're debating what is going to be at least on par with woodmen. Knowledge is on whatever the subject is. That's what i mean. There's certain people were like. Oh this person has no idea what the i don't respect them as much as maybe would another person so if it's a tricky thing but i don't make a person. I wonder. i wonder what it was about kellerman. That's the i. I don't know what it was. I don't think he listen. I don't watch the. But i don't think anyone would say like max kellerman doesn't know what he's talking like. He follows sports like yes. He may have outrageous opinions. Like if you want to say. I don't know you know derek cards. The best quarterback in the nfl like he's not coming out with like outrageous opinions. I so i. I do wonder if it's personal professional little both i. It's interesting that one person would say. I don't want to have this person debate anymore on the show. But we know that that's really the whole dynamic. I mean. I look if you're stephen a smith and you have the power to choose your partner and you feel like whatever reason it's not working you've had enough of this guy. Look i mean hate to even bring this up. But i know you're a huge fan of it. Mike in the dog one of the reasons why they broke up was because they had enough of it now. They weren't debating each other necessarily but doing a show together. All those years. You know sometimes the personalities gel you get sick and tired of one another maybe got to the point where they warned fiving his friends more connecting in stevenage wanted. It's just not working and let's find somebody else. Now that point i understand. Do think after awhile. You sort of get sick of people and you need to move on they. I think they did it for five years. Which isn't wow long long laws. If i haven't paid attention to what i mean i just don't watch i don't watch it. I understand speaking of watching. Have you watched any of the three episodes of hard knocks on. Hbo for top number. Two on train of thoughts. I am ashamed to say that. I have not all year long. Who i wouldn't have minded if they made them a permanent kasim over for season eleven. That was jon hamm. He was so freaking good in that episode last year where he was basically larry so good. Do you know if we see him at all in season eleven. You can give that if you if you know that. Because i would love to see him again. I'm not sure okay. That's sure but you know. I mean i like any main but kenny and peyton that you have two people trying to the same spot and that just won't work what they really need somebody who's going to be super smart and he's going to understand the chemistry between peyton any lie and get the hell out of the way right right. Well we are two and a half weeks away from the first monday night so I would imagine decision has come down pretty soon now. Well it's not only that but you have to be really really quiet about maybe some auditions in some trials that you're doing because these things can go myriad ways right and you just can't pick somebody that you've gotta cut feeling about. You gotta get in the booth. You gotta do some recording so at least that's how i feel the less you want to do to peyton. Anti lie is make mistakes. Even if it's somebody that payton wants you gotta get that person on their feet and see how it works. So i hope right now. They're doing some quiet testing be. You know it's like reagan said to gorbachev trust but verify Even if it is choice. Yeah how should. How should steve. Levy brian greasy. And and louis riddick feel about this. Forget about it just you know they. They have big big job that they have to do every week and the last thing they need to be doing is looking at this summit thing who cares i mean all i know it sounds like an easy thing to do and i think steve levi's capable of making it that easy. Just keep keep the focus on what you're doing in your booth and making that show the best. It can possibly be particularly after such a fractured potholed laden. You know recent history right moving on from the monday night. Football alternate broadcast Came out this week max. Kellerman will be off. I take andrew martian in the post said. This was a stephen a call. I would imagine if stephen as making twelve million a year. espn's going to do what he wants. you know. It's a tough thing there. Because stephen is taking care of kellerman. They're going give them morning radio show and a tv show. But you think this maybe make a look bad a little bit if this is true..

"I want wanna take too much time. he's a year you know doing your day nfl. And all that. And i'm like okay. Man look i I just want to tell you that. I move new york three or four years ago and the way this works is i'm c. ram You know not not. Because i'm filling myself. It's just because i'm making moves in your city and Eventually i'm gonna be doing enough to where you notice my name. And he was like you know. Respect respect that me up and that was it. And i left my And that was. That was when i talked today so it was good that i need at any other point before that guy talking football. What kind of rush was it. When he said he knew you were it was it was it was like what pacino sitting new. I was alba teams like the football show man. They football fan. And i was like what time i looked at the house. Working with extra looked at cameron sits cup gal for second among the i said i said i said. Do you like miss patino. Yeah love football. He's gonna wanna show and sundays. I was like what's going on so Whenever i hear my estee like you are in it. And it's not football related. Like gino didn't say man. I loved it when you play with randy moss. He was talking about my working. tv. I bet right. There is a mark of a guy who has successfully transitioned out of one chapter into the other. So i had a similar experience where i interviewed. Tom brady once in person. This was many years ago. And when i introduced myself up trailer for sports illustrated right this called hawk lakes at the time. And he's like. Oh yeah i know it. I totally thought he was bullshitting. I didn't believe him for one second. But you know if it is true. That's pretty cool. But i but it may but for second whether was nice to be nice or you actually knew either way. It's kind of trippy. And it makes you feel good. Because tom brady even if he didn't know you didn't have to be nice. So that makes you think right there that he actually do. And i will bet you tom brady. Does tom brady. Doesn't say thing is just the same. So i bet you. He was a big fan of a big fan of yours. So good luck and have fun on friday brother. Thank you you too all right. "Just planted also all the cameras can look at them by the time. We realize. he's not like joking. Heimlich east crying. He's crying her pain. I'm crying tears so well. That's on film august on fail just watching this week. We'll show that was going to be my follow up. Question was what can you give us a little tea. What's coming on friday for your last shell because this podcast will come out very very early thursday morning. So the muscular. We'll have positive they'll have a another guest you know. We had dominant role leading randy moss. Call it and You know. I don't know if anybody caught on camera but like i. My eyes start to water when when these guys came on like today i literally had the white my because randy sitting there with this big smile and he's talking glowingly about me you know. He's a friend of mine but when somebody's you know one of your idols of the game and big brothers a mentor. They never lose those titles. Either you may. He may be like a friend or a brother now but You know for him to just be so happy for me That meant a lot because this was the same do that challenged me as a player in and instill confidence in me that nobody would understand like nobody knows what it's like. Imagine being a basketball player michael jordan. Not doing what you saw on the last dance but like building up the young player whispering tune how great he is and how you need to go off on these guys. They can't stop you. Like randy was the best player in all of football and he was whispering my ear in the games where he was out and even sometimes games that he was in. He's like yo you the best on the field. I don't care who's out they can't stop you and as cool as i might have acted you know in like having that football finished on inside. I'm a kid doing backflips. Andy moss is building me up so special to me but yeah i have a. I think we should have a couple of more guests. Showing up on friday Mike emotional. I see a tear to tearing up wednesday. We'll see you ballin by friday. So man i. I don't know here's the thing about me Everything that you might hear me say this week and everything. They might hear me say on friday. I've said to my cast mates face. I've even call them at times late. Been out drinking and just call them. Hey appreciate you told them how much i love him. A very emotional person. I've taken everything that. Football has given me and i give that in every space that i'm in so when i'm part of a team i don't care if it's coach in high school football don bosco in new jersey. Just coaching the wide receivers. I'm talking to them like these. These little dudes are all my son's not just my son on the team and the same thing with goerner football. Talk to them the same way so when you hear it just now that it's been said before so that might be the reason. I don't cry. Because i'm out of cry before telling them how much i love. The chemistry was spent. You know it's hard enough in this business to get you know..

"I mean everyone got so. Are we doing it again this year. Do you know is it official or there's just talks so far what do we know about. Yea so You know the nfl nickelodeon. They've created a relationship I'm going to be working with nickelodeon and Small capacity every week. I can't give you too many details on that. But let's just say it's going to be exciting show but then As far as games go. Yeah i i believe that the nfl Has started something that a lot of leagues will follow suit. Semaj playing basketball steph. Curry's to three pointer goes in splashes in slime and imagine you know watching the baseball you hit a home run as soon as the you know. The slimes limestone is the crowd so endless endless possibilities. Now it's about good morning football for a little bit before we wrap. This is such a lame in cliche question. But i'll do it anyway. Do you have a. What is your favorite memory of the show. Don't give me like all the relationships they give single. Memory i got there was a moment in time. Kyle talked about it a little bit on the show where we'd turned into versions of ourselves. I got so comfortable where we're just a lot of inside jokes Locker room humor During the commercial break and then whenever we had a stand up segment may kyle with just like wrestling each other in the first couple of times it was just like a greco roman grappled. Watch watch balance. We'll stay up then. He took me downtime. I took him down the time. And then from there we were tackling each other like every week. And i remember lawyer the producers from nfl network. Like y'all got a chiro like one like you're going to damage something in here. Two more importantly you guys gonna hurt and it's on us so you have to sell so that was bad memory that i remember when i knew i we finally became A team versus a group of people working together And then we have these outdoor shoots. We were doing. We went to a park in new york like shooting in Basket don't football in the basket kyle. Climbs climates bids but craig hanging out plumbers crag. And then we did this. Uh you know pizza pizza like like a like a bill trip but it's all again and in the pizza and then we come. This genius idea need to the passes uncompetitive. I'm going crazy. I'm gonna win a love pizza. Of course people knock crash carts on seguin and then kyle is ultracompetitive. Like he wants to win everything right. He was so complex. Give me a moon est. It's funny because he survived but he almost died like no exaggeration. And i i've been talking to producers that. What do you want to see him. Show this week as like finally the clip where kyle almost dies and legit shoves all pizzas mouth barely chooses. So get stuck right. Yeah the cheese. The cheese is a problem and he didn't hit in hindustani because he couldn't speak and at first of all. Here's kyle house beleaguered. He's he's a former no real world guy in a former soap opera actor so he knows how to grab the attention. When we're on the set a four shot connel's they'll do a shoulder shrug. it'd be like zoom lander. He he knows how to grab the scene. So i'm thinking..

"I mentioned earlier. And then we'll i wanna talk about like your last couple of days here. Gm efi but were you surprised at all about how overwhelmingly positive. The reaction was to the nickelodeon game. I was social. Media is one of the most dishes You know lanes of communication. We have in society people hop on there just a crash cart People hop on don't know how to drive You know and even when you have a nice driver that wants to wave and say hello nice car there's somebody zooming by leaping your at bats bats. What the information highway of social media is it's one of process descriptions i've ever heard and it's real and what happens at a out of the no out of the hundred cars. They drive by. We pay attention to the car. That honks horn the jerk. That looks at us. The one rose window since you suck the one that blitz this off. It's just human. Nature happens all the time when we're actually walking around every day. Because he had a ten people wave to us and one person that like looks at us nasty bothers us. So i was waiting and i thought on the flip side it will be more bad football. Nickelodeon odeon may likewise even calling games on august. Preseason stuff rams last back in the day but like who is this dude. I was just waiting and i just kept scrolling scrolling and scrolling and i couldn't find a few detractors but for the most part i think people saw the effort to put in And it was simply to bridge the gap between a younger generation. That casually watched the sport and an older generation that are traditionalist and might not wanna watch it in the format that nickelodeon will push surprisingly a lot of adults. Old in young adults look dead said on. This is more entertaining than i thought. And i i had to find that balance. I don't wanna come in and speak goofy. Let's talk about governor there for four quarter ma. Let me let me actually find the blend. Create a hybrid between my memories of nickelodeon the memories of nickelodeon now and then marry that with not football for dummies but like basic level information of football while talking a about a football game in the playoffs like it's not the preseason you know i can't i can't just come up darren and in say a whole bunch of nothing and people will be entertained. Ask make sure there was the respect for the game that they're watching but master plan for the super bowl at least a added so I was. I was overwhelmed. Man and i think that response said enough about the demographic of young men and women that would love to watch the game in a different form. And even i think it was even old men and women to myself..

"I wanna do that and be part of this team and i'm not saying i'm the missing piece like the the robert ory or anything to the squat. I'm just saying i'm gonna do my best to bust. My behind and proven earned the trust of everybody involved in the morning news over at cd. Yes i'm sure you'll be great. 'cause i i mean it's all about versatility on on a show like that too. I mean like you said. I mean one morning you could be covering a covert outbreak in one morning. You're doing a cooking segment. One morning you could be talking about the milk crate challenge. I mean that that's basically how goes on those shows. You got the show already. Yeah and it's funny. Because i said this kyle recently i you know i've always been from day one. I was a fan of your show. Always loved it and i said to him. I give you guys more credit for what you do on good morning football in the off season than during the i mean i'm not going to sit here and try to say it's easy during the season but you have the game so like a monday shows probably like the easiest thing to do. I watch you guys in the offseason. Just like i don't know how they do this. I mean that that's at sometimes. It's tough during the season. The story stories right so so we're basically coming in and adding a little bit of color. I mean the vibrancy of games within the sales the story lines that drama to injuries We just come in and it's like playing second fiddle or whether Supporting actor to The main actor of the movie which is football off season. It's tough it's tough the best. There's there's the gift and the curse the gift is. We have time and was a little more space. I be creative. We produce a lot of our segments In on top of that we can work on certain things that we usually get the time at work on during the season now the curse is that it's it's a bit more i'll just call it. What it is. I remember going to an nba game years ago. I was in los angeles. I'm in la like man that's so les- courtside. You know saying you guy. Kobe over there like this is this is heaven and i was thinking and i hope i came to a laker game with one of those great halftime shows. That would make this game perfect. I got all my favorite players. Watch it by looking at the celebs like Hope help. I don't get a lackluster halftime. So this lady comes And she's on a unicycle on unicycle. Lady evans she starts juggling. Juggling lady and issue calls out some plates now mike a couple of plays and then she starts stacking spinning plates in it. Looks like something out of why Cat hat you know. And i just can't thinking to myself that must be the most difficult thing ever to keep your models on a unicycle. Spinning these plates multiple hand switching hands jumping bold bold played the plane. And that's how i describe. And that's how i look at my mind jima off season like you may not know they tell me. They're like a good time but really we get done and we're just happy we didn't drop a play. You know what. I'm saying. We're just having we didn't drop a bowl because trying to balance information entertainment in the off season where there isn't football. Is i think some of our best work. And it's not just because not wanna learn on the job A quick rundown resume about me for people who don't know much more than neighboring a football player and they broke into tv host My career multiple clothing lines. I owned a restaurant in seattle. I help create a firm that encourages educates in helps. Athletes investor money wisely. I had been writing poetry since the seventh grade and still do to this day. At a very young age i thought i was going to be a painter or A famous artists. Because i had a easel in pink bresson I i thought that the artistic lane was going to be the one that i i lived in majority of my life so all of these things they create who i am right now. Today as well as of course good morning football merits of being the best studio analyst for twenty twenty. He is nate burleson. Here on the rich eisen show. How are you nate. My brother. I appreciate that introduction. Still towns Surreal every time Every time i hear that so Thank you though. Now that i have you appreciate to one of the first people that i met when i went to benefit worked back in two thousand and three for the first time It was you and you've been corner ever since so. I appreciate our friendship. Well that's part of the reason why i want you know. Have you on and talk about this because you know You you came on when you were playing. Where you with the the lion the vikings. What were you on. Who were you with the vikings. Okay thousand for you right and you just decided you know we were. We were reaching out to Nfl players With a a voice personality with smarts and with the desire to do the job and get them into our our studio as much as possible. And i remember you are. You're up to the task and having fun and standing out. And if i told you that day you were going to be an emmy award winner one day. What would you have told me. Nate burleson. I would have told you you were line. Think i'll going into tv at all Once i got done playing you know. I was thankful that you know a made the money and i took care of it. Proper investment so going into tv was something i did because I really enjoyed speech communication in college. So i knew that i would be using my voice in some form or fashion. A lot of guys go into coaching maybe motivational speaking. But once i went to the nfl network back in two thousand three. I realized that it was unique in the sense that not only were the host Different than every other network But the players were able to come in and not be placed in a box We all had a chance if we wanted to to work at the craft to being on tv but to most importantly so our personality and over the years i've been able to take pieces All of the individuals that i've seen Sit at those tables. And obviously you've been one of the main guys. So i you know i look at life like i used to look at football. There's certain people that can sit back and watch him a distance And if your blessed enough they'll drop some gyms on you and A lot of people at the nfl network. Help me get to. Why am right now. That to nate. And then we'll we'll move on and talk some football but you know you take a look at the television landscape certainly in in the nfl. For sure. I think it's true of basketball as well. You've got to have like a goal jacket or a boss to to to break through to just get started and that is not what you have in your football resume but did you run into any of those roadblocks at all that you as you're building your brand and building your your career. Did that ever hit you at all for sure. Yeah you know. Once i left the game i was told. If you have a ring or go jacket. You'll have a better opportunity to find to see at any network and it's from there You you have put in the work to keep it now. I knew when i left the game. I didn't have either. You know eleven your career respected by my peers. Fine but i'm gonna walk into a network and the same type of response that dan sanders. The michael everett marshall faulk is going to get. So what did i do early on in my career as an analyst and a broadcaster. I tried to do as much as i can i. I paid attention to what the host was doing the teleprompter while they were reading. It was focus on all the little things. So i didn't look like your typical athlete talking about the sport and i did everything digital to pregame postgame I did have is well. somebody can show up. I filled in. And i think one of the biggest things that it's a very small thing but one of my mentor. He was like look. I know you're ball player and a wide receiver at that. You love to stand out your diva. But still i would allow students from like you. Like you like steve. Harvey and the kings of comedy like chill out with allowed to take off some of the jewelry. Because they're eloquent. It actually saying something but you have a big ring. Gone big earrings. You're wearing a chain Then it can be quite distracted. I remember that day I changed the way that i looked Because i did want people that pay attention to what i was saying. You know and it's it's it's interesting. I didn't have that. You know. When i got started with you know change or the way i looked you know was was the jokes that i constantly did on sportscenter. It was a one hundred percent nonstop. Joke fest for me. I mean i was a standup comic college. Nate and so i had to. I had a pullback in terms of everything being gag mike. I had to pull back on that so what i was saying would get through. And that is that is that is a akita to where you wanna get in this business and now you know like dislike after kind of earning your spot in an earning respect and then really solidify yourself as one of the biggest voices in all sports. Do you like you could go back into that later. Because i do feel like now i can have back into those spaces. Were address a little more fashionably or even where my hair..

That is a good daddy. They take care of his kids. Well at the risk of upsetting. I'm going to once again point out that the latest of the latest it is example of the negative side effects of lebron's addiction to fame the thirty four year old basketball star claims to have identified football's most unique challenge and further claims to have invented solution class helmets players being assigned a helmet and do not have no voice and no one knows who they are because of the helmet and no one ever truly know on that there's actually a person inside there and not taking that seriously they will be seen by uninterrupted did and this right here is the farce glass helmet and meaning behind it is all these great athletes athletes that play our wonderful sport football will be heard and we'll be saying because they are at the end of the day they are people as well. They take these helmets off and they are people when they have the helmets on as well so when i first saw this. I thought it was a comedy skit. Get thought lebron was having some fun and then i watched a four minute youtube video titled the glass helmet project tackling one of football's most unique challenges. Oh sweet jesus. I think the broader series the bronze side kick maverick carter some nondescript former n._f._l. Player andrew hawkins and an artist artist are pushing the notion that glass helmets or symbolic glass helmets would liberate and humanize oppressed n._f._l. Players i can walk down the street. Be the star football team and nobody knows who i am because people don't recognize you. Ah as players were kind of looked at as warriors or gladiators right and gladiators aren't people who you remember their name take a lot of people when it comes to football they cheer for the laundry in the sense that they refer their teams more than having a direct connection with the players hopefully one day we'll see glass is home is on the
