"Hey guys welcome back to the show. Nate burleson unbelievable. That dude is so smart. i'm so he he's really refined his takes along with. I think being around cow brand in n. p. traeger. He's just amazing. So check him out. And all that stuff. And as we mentioned before were so lucky to have mattie matt makaay here who made some waves this week and just amazed lax. Just like i do in malibu. I know you love you love to serve and you love to keep it calm but you definitely are not afraid to be fiercely centrist in this world. That appears at times to go too far to the extremes on either i. I think what you're saying is i. Don't smoke the potus. And i did a little stern didn't have started up. Stir the very pot that used to and what what prompted you to say okay. I got my oscar. I'm going to go surfing with my oscar. You had to just be like all right. Everybody on the far left in our life chat. Far-right shut the hell up in the round. Hit the near run the here. Here's what happened okay. This basically when yeah see my whole life has been about finding the center yet. Okay yep it's the it's the voter sway right. It's the spirituality universe. The universe was created to to find true zero. All right okay okay. I don't want to get off on a whole ran about back. Sees what that means clear to you. This say okay. It's been happened in my whole life. Who's my favorite Player of all time only weak dow what position centerfield ago if the cycle twenty thousand nine hundred eighty five drove up most of the dallas beautiful side. Boys i say that is in and of itself. The definition of universal centrism. Who actually the answer man. Who's your favorite player. Olden polynice. the guy never eight. He had zero food food in his body and and the first that his name is zero. Okay that's right in zero sum game. Not here not. They're not negative. Not positive right in the middle. I mean look when i drive my lincoln. Drive it right over those yellow. that's wait. No ways in commercial feels like copied from lincoln commercial. I was the one when they said matthew. We want you to drive down this. This odessa road. Run into bull out. Run into the boat. They said it stops short. I said of course go. And and i said put him right in the center. Put him right center. It'd it it'll be two entities to entities in the universe cosmos meeting and understanding the up each other's point of view. There you go. That was the ultimate left rat center equation. Sarah's not bonded we mailed it was It was star trek in. And i loved every minute of it and i said right in that moment and this where i need to go is right down sooner road and show people. You know my friends say. Hey matthew you got people driving on the lead. You got people driving on the right. They're all cramp did. There's no room in the. And i said well. They're so far to the left and the right. There's a big gap in the middle. That's right and that's what. I'm trying to drive a lincoln right through it. It's why you're most hated. Robert downey junior movie is less than zero. I hate it. You hate Because because what that movie did you see it polarized it showed it showed the use of of recreational narcotics sitting here promoting. But at the same time you're not against it not against part yes. It showed the deleterious results in said activity. And in my kenyan. It probably kept me and my friends off the off the funny stuff for at least a week or two and that was wrong. So you're so what you're saying is if life were a university of texas football game. You see them with a with their freshman running back run between the tackles right up the middle. That's what this is. And i'm in it for the long run all the way to the goal line and you know he can sit here all day and talk about republicans and democrats libertarians. And all of these different adia. But what i'm saying is within that word itself. I dea allergy okay Forget the allergy. Let's just stick with the ad d upon the fan the truth in the middle where we can all meet agree. Listen i it's already happened quietly. Been pushing for this country to loosen. Its astringent hold on on illegal marijuana right. yeah okay. that has been falling like dominoes. You don't think. I've been part of that book too long health. And of course you've been at the forefront of that it was the forefront your did not true detective it's just true is what that is it is true. It's absolute through my favorite president of all time. Harry truman why he was a true potman. Oh i thought you were going to know that. That's actually an interesting historical perspective. Like to read about their books About that but you know. Here's the thing we're coming up at the end of the year. A lot of partisanship. Everyone's screaming over here in screaming over there not just in the center smiling and saying join me. It's warn go. It's like a nice sunday in malibu on the stand you know. No one's around fine loses shorts and just rolled around hang on dog at corn dog and corn dog. That is a great way to end. This episode is just corn dog in it with matthew mcconaughey. I hope you corn dog and horn. Doug the way you know how and i hope you catch the waves and i think it's a good message. It allows us to to to love each other in a way that maybe we need to love each other. And i think the middle he's saying meet in the middle that's recent send and and you know. Texas is right there in the middle. Maybe not north-south variety not latitude but the country is in this country and they got a governor that said out soon all. I'm saying if you run for governor voting for you and we this this all the way all the way no need to run boesak. Walk right in the door. A that's a walk off right there. Speaking of walking in the door. That's a walk up and that has a show. You guys thank you so much. We'll see you tomorrow night. Live people town going to be a blast event. Bright dot com get. Your tickets are still some left and we'll see on the stereo app. Get the free stereo app. We'll see on tuesday dumb people town at noon when at wednesday at noon Spa edition thursday people down at noon and then friday. "To be like yo you cower. Time will say it's on me. Cows the type of guy who can very easily say look man. I've been through this. It's on. I'll take the heat in this scenario. It's amazing. I was thinking i was looking at miami. Miami's eight and four okay. To a man to a so. We're looking at these young quarterbacks that are in my opinion they are the future. I think the league from a quarterback perspective and it is a quarterback driven league. The league is at. Its best. When tom brady. Is tom brady. You can't believe this when. I'll put it in the context of tennis okay. I don't know how much dennis you watch. But like for years it's federer jovovich am nadal for twenty years dude twenty years these guys but there's nobody coming up that are the next federer so i say to myself when these guys are forty one forty two. What's going to happen you look at. Who's having a good year this year. Aaron rodgers is having an unbelievable year. And that's our guy just love the dude. Think he's a great guy he's funny. He's chill. i mean. I'll say look at the when it. What was the game. He threw five touchdowns and everybody goes up to the camera and the in zone to flex and he comes in does the laziest ever. It's so funny. He's always aware he's aware he's hyper aware. And he's funny. And it's what makes them a great quarterback as he's aware of everything at all times but he's not even aware of being funny in the moment on a football field that you're like dude that is. That's an indulgence. That's like money while acting like he's not trying to be funny and that's the genius layer of it. And he makes a throw off his back foot while backpedaling. That is only in a box which you as a receiver. i know. we'll understand that it is only in a place where you the receiver can catch it. The defenders either gonna. It's either going to be a pi. Or he's going to miss it and the only way it doesn't get caught is if you drop it and that's how brilliant he is. He's having a good year. I would argue that. Yeah i would argue. That breeze obviously dropped off but look at what tastes them hills doing. But like the the russell wilson still great. He's established he's not a young dude but like you said. Pat mahomes feels like a veteran. But he's still a young dude. Kyle murray young dude to a young dude. I mean he's got josh allen young dude on it and so. This league is in great shape as far as from the quarterback position with so many teams lamar jackson. You feel like we got baker mayfield. Having a year you like those teams look at joe burrow what he did before he got injured we saw we saw us moments. Like damn this young. Do gus juicy. He was getting beat up. Some of those games himself up off the dirt. Even herbert her. I think he's big strong. I listen you might not even be so on that the quarterbacks in the afc west but herbert having just looks the like you listen. He's fresh out of a movie. Tall has that california to them. And then you look at drew lock like some people are hot or cold on them but i think he got it man like every grow he has. He has a saw stories. I got it man. I liked that. But like i want to touch back on on two and the previous question about you know. Is it a coach. Or a quarterback. That's the coach. Floor is for the miami dolphins the perfect quarterback for two because to. It doesn't talk right never he. Just he's had this weird dynamic a quarterbacks where you know he got pulled one game and then was. He heard that he got put back in his. Patrick came in and want some games like he needed to land there. He didn't he didn't need to land anywhere where he needed to be the man so anytime now something happens to the to enforce the first one is i know i made this decision and this is why i made it. And he's so matter of fact that you're like art we're gonna no more questions. Yeah and you say to yourself okay. To is the future of that team he definitely is. And but you're winning with fits magic. It's an exciting time. You're actually winning games with this dude. It was almost like the chicago bulls when they had to fire. Doug collins and bring in phil jackson. You're like doug collins to the to the nba conference championship. He was a couple of wins away from taking to the nba finals. And your fire in that dude yet. Because there's a ceiling as to what ryan fits. Magic can do for just like when mark jackson was coaching. The golden state warriors. That's right that's really good. And it's like dan okay. Five mark jackson legend. And then you fire him. And he's a playoff contender. Every every year. They hire currying kerr. Who played under jackson who played under popovich. Who who literally had the you know who also but who like phil. Jackson had the outside of the box approach of like not gonna hammer my players. I'm not going to embarrass my players. I'm gonna build them up. I'm gonna. We're going to talk about mental state. We're going to talk about meditation. We're gonna talk about visualization. Like all the things that sort of those those coaches who aren't those old school hard like a guy who can talk to this generation and that's why people respond to him and you see a great example of a coach. A he seems a direct reflection of their head coach. So mark jackson point guard. You know he he can manipulate an offense. They come down. They were running schemes trying to get guys open. The offense was good. It wasn't as explosive curve. The shooter it's not like you said is anything. He was a shooter. He was one of the best and clutch. He comes in and says all right. I'm just we got some good shooters if we get a couple more which is going to shoot teams out of the gym around. Mike is not gonna work. It was almost like a flash in the pan. Like you can't do this. Sustainable for eighty two games just gonna smell threes. And they're like yeah when it comes to analytics is better to shoot three then. A mid range shot the award. Every team is trying to mimic that. Every team is trying to get shooter ball movement and you look at the celtics and you look at brad stevens team. You say okay. There like a mini like a mini golden state in that. They moved the ball around. And you have great players and and and then ultimately the ball finds a guy who's open and then you've got to trust that that guy's gonna knock it down. It's so fascinating. So two games happened this week. And that i wanna get your take on and is are they aberrations. Say this weekend. Because the the the week finished on tuesday but to me the nfc showdown out in a way that. I don't think anyone expected everybody was like man. The gonna win the nfc east. Go and five and eleven. Maybe okay this. I don't even understand the nfc east this year. This is the weirdest division ever and whoever wins that is going to lose to a wide wildcard team immediately in the first game but the redskins won and the giants won two games. They had no business winning. I mean it it shows you. They popped the cork in miami. I'm sure you know sure bob gracie pop the cork okay and was like yeah bitches. This shit is hard you know and then by the same token you know. It's like it's amazing. Those teams wants. So are they for real i e should we worry about them. Does alex smith bring something to have. Have the giants figured something out so that if you are wildcard team you better watch out. You gotta play them at home. Yes it better to be like have a good record. It'd be hot coming into the playoffs. See there you go. That's that's the ultimate question that age angel question about december football last week. I said that uh. Nfc east of the most entertaining vision and all football. And peterson. you talking punishment. Nicholas douse the author. Schrager raging first of all. Relax seven. am can i get my takeout. Second of all entertaining is different depending on. Who's watching.

"Twice like a glitch and it's like i see i feel like i am neo in the matrix watching the football football. Play the same thing over and over again. What's great about watching it with guys like boomer and coach kaur is and the young pup so i just sit back and we're watching these games and if a coach a terrible decision. I'll look at bill. And bill's site should have did it in the play. And you'll look at your look at boomer bombs aside why would you throw that and the world you you over cross. Oh like every pass shoot through perfect this site. I'm sitting back. This is the coolest job ever. it's in our show is an hour long. That's whatever like. I'll take whatever piece of show i can get my fifteen spitting seconds every segment. I'll take that but the best part of my job. I'm there from eight. Am to eight pm. The rest part of my job is sitting around talking shop like like last week. We're in We're getting ready for the production meeting and the news about the jets and how bad they are. Acm and fire so boom coach. We ask me every week and we've been asking you for last year's are you coming back to coach football cowards. Like you know. I'm really loved in it. He has this really soft demeanor angry. I'm really levintv. it's just. I don't know if i want to go back and we're like coach. You still have it in you. I do i do. And then what what. What would it take cower for years eighty million twenty million a year damn so they boomers like this in a productive twenty million a year. My block from my radio show so that was an for the entire day. We just kept asking if he's gonna call the jets. And what's why i'll give you some behind behind the curtain. Let's hear it. Let's hear a few days before. I'm sitting at the crib and i get a text message for shaw mary. Monique occasionally check in. And he's like nate. You've got coach. Cowards number and i'm not sure. Yeah yeah i hit up the group chat. It's all the guys on the show today with the producer. Juki and i'm like. Hey sean just asked me. Marrying just asked me for coach. Cowards number and and he wants coats cowardice. Be one of the candidates for the new coach of the chargers. If anthony lynn is in defy. Yeah you missed. Chances blows a fire emojis home. God yes and everything. And and so cower. Talks to sean sean tells them hey if this does happen. We want shoe so on sunday once he. He's he's in embassador he's he's basically saying if anthony lantis fire like i would love to consider job. It wasn't like it was an official offer. A trial balloon that he sent up there to just see dietrich's just gauge lick your finger and put it out into the wind and see. What's it just checking the tips oaten for for coats on sunday. We're just peppering requests up so so are you gonna. Are you going to keep a sam darnold or are you. Are you going to walk. Trevor lawrence is your guy man. That's it that's it that's it that's first of all that's amazing and it just goes to show you that those who did it on a high level you are automatically in the pool. Cower did on the highest level. You're just in the thought pool. People are like if we can get them. We get even a guy like so. We went to michigan. Even a guy like jim harbaugh is in the pool. He did on a high level. It's like you got to respect what he did at san francisco now and it doesn't matter what happened at michigan psych. Gonna come up in the conversation always but but so this is a great starting point to talk about nfl. Stop how important in your mind is coach. Coach versus like star. Qb power like how who turns a team around. Faster does trevor lawrence. If he walks into the league and he's playing lights out it does he turn. Does he make a mediocre coach. Great or can a great coach turn mediocre quarterback and team to great quicker. That's a really good question. I'm looking at some of the quick turnarounds. We've seen over the last couple of years. Arizona all of a sudden being relevant column of course fantastic but he's attached to clip kingsbury. That's right look at pat mahomes a few years ago just personal to the scene. But he's attached to. Andy reap march and last year. Basically says i. I would say saved her job at him. Making that decision of a benching. Joe flacco starting lamar. I think that just kind of extended his shelf life as a coach for the baltimore ravens. That's the right decision and it was tough decision. Like with those guys. There's always a coach that is in so many ways. The puppet master in water for the arizona cardinals be good. They needed a coach like Clippings beer who is real chew speak to the youth he. He's more of the swag in the sauce. Calamari is because kyle is quiet. Chill very quiet gentle. Do it has nothing to do with his leadership. Everybody knows he's still a great leader. And they look at pat mahomes who also has a very humble demeanor and i feel like andy reid. You know big red is big rib. The he's the one with the cockiness like big raise. I've been around. The super bowl is owed to me. That's why i'm still coaching. And that's how put this together and the moves at these coaches have to make like so tansu question to bring long winded way. It has to be the coach because without cliff. Kingsbury said josh. Roses is in our. Do seventeen million we gave you. You're not our dude. We're gonna cuyler without andy reid sant. I love alex smith. He's gonna get to the playoffs every year. But i'm drafted this young. Do pat mahomes like. That's a bold move for char. Bob say joe flacco sh we had. We had run. It's been real. I gotta go with this young in a huge mystery. At this point people are still saying he should be paying wide receiver. So i think. Even if trevor lawrence comes in there needs to be a coach like a legitimate coast costa has something because once once the the novelty wears off of a first overall pick You can you can point at something. That's that's consist that the standard. So what prime example when baker had that's more slump. Yep we were all looking at baker. So i can browse your fault. You talk a lot. You talk a lot a lot of commercials on you. But but when he has a coast and mistakes happen this year. We didn't want to go play blame. Bakers chemist fast. These things are still being worked out. So they they. They can't get a novice coach. Don't i don't want to. I don't want a baby a young pup. I don't want some type of like shake up the magic ball head coach. I want somebody that got some skins on war guy like this is for example right at chevrolet has like a bad outing for a few weeks. People going to tear down cower. There's going.

You still doing stuff in the nfl network. I love mon. Cbs along with all the holding his own always looking sharp great analysis. I mean that's really why. Go to to hear what he has to say. Because you played the game nate burleson. How are you buddy. I'm good. i'm good. I appreciate that. Thank you for the introduction. Yeah man those are some fun times being able to get to know you guys become friends but also worked together. You guys are are my speed 'edu-tainment. As i like to call it in football you know what i'm not the type that just get up there and be like. Hey this is why the post really worked cover to people want a little bit more so watching you guys being fans of yours for so long. It's like you take elements of people that you admire. And i appreciate that time that we spent the other. It's why you roll so well on good morning football. I mean i feel like you know you get you understand it you know and and can hang with people who are funny and people you know you roll with it very easily and also people can go to like any number of places just to get the barebones analysis but i reason why we say about comedy to where like. Why do people tune in to john oliver last week tonight. Or why do they tune into bill maher on friday night. We already know the news. We got the news all week long. Why do they. Why do people watch. Pardon the interruption all day long yes so why do we. Why do we do that. Because you're a person you want to have a personalities. I mean i loved the crazy thing is like the i've always wanted to see boomer and phil simms on the same. It's fascinating to see them both. Because i always felt they were two sides of the same coin. For some reason the quarterbacks in who spent time in new york played the different teams in new york. Kinda just one is a little more brash. The other one's more of a southern dave but they both got a. Did you know it must be fun on that. Set with those guys. It really is not really pushing for Cvs to capture the content in between commercial breaks while watching the games. Yes and relief that just no social media on digital on social media platforms. Because that's the best part about working on the sunday show one. It's prime real estate like cbs. So when i did this. I don't think i get the job. It was just like all right. I'm glad they they know why am and then when i landed it. I was like okay. This is this is going to be something that i have to one know the history of the show and appreciate the scene on man to i gotta be more of myself but as i got to know like everybody on the cast we really start to open up and we're like a group of brothers like different age ranges of course different backgrounds. But we're watching the games before halftime. We're sitting there eating lunch. So the first thing people do is we talk about each other like when the locker room with nature like boomer should be on and then fail. he'll get gone and the one thing about boomer fill is. They are like the same exact do. They're like your two older brothers that you know if you got an fight. These guys are going to be knocking out for you to order. Brothers lightweight hate each other. It's easy. I'll just i'll just sit back and i'll be life so so when you guys are in your prime i cou was the fastest. And it's like i ask you like inquisitive like we want to know and then boom boom boom boom like yo. I love me. Some me was dude boomers that before so would immediately guided me. Of course you'll hear it from across room and he'll just take shots all day long and i went to him. I like look i need. We need to put this stuff out there. It makes us. it makes us really humid. These guys that that might not like identify with the younger generation of fans. Who don't know how great these guys were. It makes them really relatable and the response i got was we're going to have to. We're going to have to make sure we tone it down because you know talks get spicy and.

"The sharpest dressers. And by the way kicks so much ass on the cbs sunday. Football show like in between games and pre games and stuff. He's amazing j. Were of course. Talking about nate burleson. So we'll get to him later And then later on the shot off you saw the comments by matthew mcconaughey but And mcconnell as like playing every side of every angle right now so we'll talk to him later on in the show but first let's get. Let's get into the announcement this past week that Floyd mayweather junior is going to be fighting logan. Paul jake paul but logan paul so this is my twentieth so you could go to my theory is that you know where you are in this world by. Who your celebrity boxing against you find yourself in the ring with honey. Boo shit's not going. Well jefferson when saying you. You've fallen on hard times. If you ever see that you are versus ozzie. Canseco in a boxing match in orlando things are not going. Well yeah and i think well that's one way to look at it. Is that floyd mayweather. So but because you don't have money you do it because you need this next gig. We understand that there are a lot of people who once had fame now living on the edge. If your name. Joey buttafuoco is the type of guy that gets in the ring and like tries to box. Tonya harding yourself. What i'm saying like that's the type of stuff like in those moments. You realize what attack titian butterbean was. He actually could box. He was actually a really good boxer and butterbean beating. You is like the guy with two knee braces. Just raining shots over you at the rec center. Everyone's garden you. Like i'm trying and he's like six then you can't i can't he's like throwing it up in a weird. Jamal will sort of away. And he's draining everything that is butterbean weapon your ass. Because he was a guy who never ever did a sit up right but so that's one theory but flav mayweather has money. Floyd mayweather has the legacy. Floyd mayweather has done all that he needs to do in the world of boxing. So there's gotta be something else at play here and i ran. I think in light of jake. Paul knocking out nate robinson. Who is friends with mayweather. Mayweather is like i'm gonna beat up. Logan paul so badly ominous knocked the paul's out of boxing. I'm gonna hit logan paul so hard. That jake paul's going to quit. I'm gonna hit logan paul so hard he's gonna wanna go back to the suicide forest like it's it's i think there is. This is a message sending a message. So i think there's a notion right now where mayweather as like. These guys are stepping into the ring and the whole internet exploded. Because jake paul dropped. Nate robinson he was literally knocked out. And i think you know there's this notion of like for us if someone who's like kind of not really a comedian gets on state like remember when jeremy piven was like trying to do stand up and we'd go out and he would tell these long stories and it's like yeah you're standing on the stage and you might be getting laughs but you're not doing stand up comedy like stand up. Comedy is an intricate thing that we spent our whole lives working on. You can't just suddenly say. I'm a stand up. Comedian and the internet goes nuts over you when that's a disrespect to the art of boxing and i do think so. So you want you in floyd mayweather to box jeremy piven. I would like to see that or to do. Stand up with logan paul. But i do think there's something in that notion that he's this is noble this religions. Yeah hey i'm gonna show you. The boxing is a real thing. What's insane though is that mayweather is such and fights such a boring style. That sucks he so defensive that you can't get the shot in on him that i don't think there's going to be that crazy knockout punch and also logan. Paul is much bigger than mayweather like much bigger. So i'm not sure mayweather is going to be able to knock him out. Knock him out like your may whether you don't wanna just win on points. My question is is this good for boxing. This bad for boxing. Because we're talking about floyd mayweather junior. Fighting a kid are a youtube star. We're not talking about like when you. And i saw sugar ray leonard. Fight marvin hagler over at howard. Oh pinski's house on pay per view. We're not talking about and we lived through that. Golden era of middleweight. Like we're not talking about that. We're talking about some stunt fight which the biggest fight before that was conor mcgregor. Usc guy fighting floyd mayweather junior like the paki on mayweather fight happened five years after it should've happened. Boxing has a real problem. Like are we talking about but like if you're super inside boxing. Yeah you know the the happy waits for tyson fury. I think fury's interesting in -aduated mason fury triple g is good and low. Marchinko is good. And i mean i've seen these fights in there good but like the casual fan doesn't give a damn about it so boxing has kind of become like record. Like you have to really understand like you have to be a music file to want to go into the vinyl world The the general tiktok music fan of juice world is not going to be like really digging into stacks vinyl at record shut up so boxing sort of become more of a niche thing which is crazy because when you think back to like mohammed ali those massive fights that he did. And you think about sugar ray. Leonard and roberto duran and all those fights from the eighties and the nineties before mma hit the scene like those were the things that they were as big a sport as any other sport. I remember lennox lewis fighting mike tyson. I remember of andhra holyfield fighting my in the nineties so like again. The eighties had some great fights. The nineties had some great fights and they have yet. There were fights where people get on pay per view. Remember like being in new york city and like walking down the street and seeing people looking into a bar that charged money because they've got the pay per view and people just showed up to watch it like that was the thing that was the thing i don't think people are gonna do that with the Floyd mayweather logan. It's like this feels like a fight of like meet me outside. But i don't think it should even happen in the ring. I think it should happen outside the building. It should start with what i'm saying. You wanna take it outside. And then they go outside and it's just like a bare knuckles bra happens and we'll see if it does anything for the world of boxing. I do believe i do believe that. Floyd mayweather has more pressure on him than he is willing to admit because he is fighting for the art and the dedication to boxing. He's not just fighting. Come out though. He's got a knock them out. Can't just win on points. If you just wins on points let me. Just ask you this. Is jim lampley gonna call it. No fricken jim. Lampley does even come near that thing because it is a stunt it is not a real thing and a guy like jim. Lampley who loves. Boxing would never ever even able to try to get jim lamp. Maybe we'll try to get jim lampley on the show and sia mason's be amazing. Let's take a break when we come back on the other side let's talk. Nfl it is in full swing. Two huge upsets happened this week in the nfl from the woeful.

Know He's got a kid at home and he'd loves our show and he's been trying to talk about his bills. All we can have noticed when you're on and you hang up that I I, see it all from this chair and I wanna give you a shot what's up Matt. Doing what's going on? We're GONNA talk about the poop show with a titan this week I didn't go in there. Okay. What do you want? My problem is I'm tired of Pittsburgh steelers fans. Okay. They've been starting at me all week about how the bills offense is only good because I haven't played anybody. Well, here's a newsflash where you steelers. The combined record of the team is playing one game all year it's right at the Broncos over your sneaky jet. The kind of Buffalo. Later, this year we're GONNA kick your ass with rob. Burger. And get over it. Tell. You man you've got to I. Don't blame you for talking that way not just because you're cooped up with the snow child pandemic but but the fact is that you have every right. Every shonen. Oh, I think you have every right to feel like the bills are going to back your play I really way back to playing this jobs number with league. They cry last year when we beat 'em in Pittsburgh when they had duck dodgers. Bring the Buffalo we'll kick your butt there go home and shut up. Thank you very much matt from Oklahoma. I'm glad I got him his because it seemed like he had a lot pent up there and I'm glad that he got it off his chest. Out. Bills fans have every right to feel like the bills can do whatever the hell they want. This kid is amazing digs. Single Terry team knocks. Beasley defense special teams they're big. They're tall they're physical. Match Josh Norman's making plays in the back end. That's already stout enough. McDermott was my preseason pick for coach of the year. Feel good about that one I think it should be yeah and Mahomes was my preseason pick for MVP numb feeling good about that one too. But I think it's already in that category of Phil Jackson Bill Belichick never get coach of the year because we just assume it. Let's get to Chris Brockman sneaky good Games here on the rich Eisen.

"Stefan dig the new piece on the other end of those draws but last year when you think about Josh Allen, it was a combination of both it was him running around sometimes I get sick and with his hair cut other times running over linebackers in hurtling over defenders and doing some very very athletic stuff. But this year, it's almost like he's more comfortable within the pocketing for anybody that really wants to check out the details and the nuances of watching a quarterback what makes it so different and check him out when you watch him this weekend and moving forward. When he's in that pocket is helmet doesn't bounce around like a bobblehead some of these rookies, some of these younger quarterbacks when you see these guys in the pocket there, how will bounce around because it is frantic in that pocket and it is collapsing and you're seeing where the coverage is trying to figure out where the press is from all the wild China. Decipher your read going from one to maybe even shutdown hit my running back. But Josh Allen doesn't look. So panicked anymore you know what? That is one, its growth, which already it's knowing the playbook being surrounded by playmakers. But then also in a reference to him being raised the cantaloupe farm, it's his cantaloupes dropping man the do turn into a man right before is. I feel like. Allen in that office and McDermott who is in the running for coach of the year you gotTa give them credit. No doubt Last one for you nate before let you go on with your day. The successive good morning football it was great to hear. Aikman say during the broadcast last night after Joe read a Promo for it that he watches every day. So many people watch every day and now you you will. NFL Today on CBS as well an extra you're expanding your your brand, your world what comes with that as well as people ripping you right off what you say when you hear. Toe. Drags. Swag Others and you don't get credit for it. Nate. How do you handle that? 'cause I I always got my catchphrases from sportscenter ripped straight off and you know obviously it's the greatest form of flattery is this invitation. But how do you handle that name when people use it and don't give credit? Well, if it's it was to agree just you know I had lawyer Those are couple of brands and I'm talking about the major brands that started making some shirts and I was like. Oh you didn't know our trademark this when I played I'm a send you a quick letter. Highland me but but you know And I've told you this thousand times and I I I tell you whether we're in private over a drink or talking to a friend of the world you've been one of the biggest influences. So you know we as a as a new generation of broadcasters and entertainers because they are anonymous We're just we're standing on the shoulders of guys who have done it before. You from the NFL network days is into the best sports show all the Og's hadn't played the game that had played the game that built really good platforms and you still doing it with the rich Eisen show all we're doing we're trying to recycle that has been done before by giving credit those who have done it before, and then adding a little bit of own flavor. Lag His mom flavor, his I appreciate the kind words, incentives. So Nate Burleson. Nickname for nate burleson would cease and desist. It seems you're just finding that out a little. Cease and. So you you trademark that when you were a player, you did that. Yeah Yeah. I did it a couple of times on the sideline I tagged it and then I made a shirt just for me and my boys the way around, and once one person said, where can I buy that thinking like a businessman? Immediately trademark this creating shirts and from from then on I've been branding it I did collaboration partnership with Mitchell and ness, and I did a collaboration partnership with NFL network and so when it is said are used by any other network or brand yes. You only give them so many passes before. You. Know what I'm saying. Know. They can only do it so much, and then you gotta go Khalil, Mack on worse on him, and then that'll be the end of that. You know then that'll be the end of that. You'll just thrown around. Nate thankfully call appreciate it. You take care of yourself you be well your family. You. GotTa. Keep on killing it. Nate. Burleson of the NFL Today on CBS Extra TV and of course. Good? Morning. Football. Toe Drags Mike. Call NFL network ever doing a partnership with me for punters with people to. Make A. Note of that taking notes. All right down here that correctly you did. All right. Take a break phone calls will take them Chris Brockman sneaky good games by unluckiest lock of the.

"I'm talking about a true number one and I'm sitting back and I wanted to give him that James Harden Roll my eyes walkaway from the interview phase Ah. What do are? Looking at you've been here since he's been drafted I spent twenty four hours here in Detroit. I haven't even unpack my bags and not gonNA already tailed is due to the best wide receiver in the game and that's kind of what I said they were like okay. We'll see kind of thing and sure enough. Within a couple of years, Calvin Johnson broke Jerry Rice's record and was the most stoppable it before. So for Greg goes who's been around the game dipped in. Pure talent for him to say that I mean I I agree with them. One hundred percent decay has all of it. He's built like David Boston, he can run routes like. Julio Jones, and he's starting to develop the thought hands like very fitzgerald, and that's one hell of a combination Oh and not to mention he's playing wasn't. It's right could be the coolest quarterback to ever catch a ball from because he's just like a big brother that wants his little brother win and he also throws a great ball to right. He. He had. Aaron Rodgers throw a deep ball where it seems like drops straight down a chimney like it literally comes straight down like on a on a right at you and it just puts it right there. It's a perfect combination. So that's why obviously Seattle is going to be tough to beat, and then in the AFC the team that has the best chance to knock off the chiefs after through four weeks would be which team mate burleson which one I still desperately want to say the Ravens and if I do people will sit back and say, well, you saw the game that that was a struggle for Lavar that office and it was I'm not going to sit in front but I will say this and this is being apologised for the Baltimore Ravens or even Lamar Jackson as early drafts in there and you have some early drops in a game versus the chiefs that's like playing against the Kevin Durant Golden State Warriors with Steph. Curry and Klay Thompson in Nissim five threes in a row and on the other end of the court, they're fast paced offense they bus down those five. Threes they opened up games quickly I say that say this, it's the same thing facing the chiefs. If you have a couple of mistakes if you drop a ball, if you give up a big play and then you don't count her back, they're gonNA open up the game and they'll have control of it. I mean with the the ability of Pat Mahomes his sermon with the ball because he's not going to throw the game away and then the game plan of Andy Reid Eric the enemy like it's just tough to beat those guys You don't want to go on a random that's not so random, but I don't want to a team that. As of this week, they wouldn't come to mind because of how they got smacked around the Patriots I I do feel like we got cheated And Twenty twenty has been exactly that Kobe nineteen corona virus has. Done everything from her loved ones with all the deaths that we've seen around the globe put people in bias financially and has kids sitting out of school doing everything virtually But in the in the world of football because I want to mention those things I. So I wasn't insensitive to what the real issues are but in the world of football. I like corona cheated out of a really good match up. You know I mean, you know Cam Newton in the new patriots offense versus. The Kansas City chiefs like that would have been interesting to watch and I'm not sitting here claiming that Cam Newton would just ran through the chiefs but I mean literally could've ran through the chiefs because that offense is different the the Patriots team that that put the chiefs in a bind and Patton home struggled against. Cameras running back exact offense, but he had the ability to use his legs which makes that and so much more dangerous. So I would like to see that at some point that's the Patriots season doesn't fall apart because of what just happened with Cam Newton being benched and all the guys that have already opted out of the season but that's the team that comes to mind. Because I was really excited about what cameras doing in that Patriots off me to what about the bills I mean I I kinda think that they have a quarterback that can do it again, arm legs defense that can maybe get in Mahomes as grill. Obviously, it's not Bella check coordinating it but they it's no slouch with Leslie Frazier and they also have playmakers now with digs in that. I mean. I I know that Allen it's only just four games, but he looks the most valuable part in that regard to what what about Buffalo. New. Yeah he he is the most valuable part I mean he's MVP. You can either call the most valuable part or even the most valuable player released. Conversation to I mentioned I mentioned Russell Wilson, and in Eh Rogers in that conversation Cam for a quick second was even in it and Josh Allen should definitely be in the conversation as MVP. He starts off the season and he sets a career high impact charts and then followed up with a four hundred yard games. You know this is the question that I posed to my crew as we were talking about this on good. Morning. Football I said I want you to think about. Josh Allen. Highlights this year just just stop for a second I. Want you to think about a big play from Josh Allen. And I want you to think about. The highlights from last year we're? comes. Dropping back and throwing some beautiful..

"To. Watson. Into It was very confusing. And I felt so bad because I'm the one sitting next to Joe Thomas and he's the one who's never done it before and I'm like, take it one snap at time and I'm the idiot standing his left calling the game in botching names left and right last year but it was a great broadcast. Nonetheless I thought it was a great time nate working with the last year like we did. It really was, and I I enjoy. Being able to hang out with you not as personally but professionally sharing the booth. Funny though because as we were criticizing Jaimes Winston like every Tampa, Bay buccaneers fan and all the sports fans, and all his name is again throwing pick six. Only if we had a quarterback good quarterback, a veteran quarterback, maybe a legend somebody that doesn't throw picks sixers and they signed Tom Brady and since since that time when we were in the booth together i. Believe Tom Brady has grown to pick six if we include the post season against the titans and then of course, earlier this year. Yes indeed, and he actually through one last week also in a win you know. So He's done it a couple of times now though we're sitting here, talking about last night's game, do you think nate and all the football that you have played an observed and talked about that Brady did in fact, lose track of the downs. Night I believe he did. I'M NOT GONNA. Try to cover up for Brady You know anytime you look at the rest and you give them those is with four fingers asking as if you know you, you think that there's another down and I I I saw I saw a tweet and is in don't get mad at me but I saw a tweet the mighty said it must be a Michigan thing and it was a side by side with overtime.

Why was everyone disappointed by the AFC and NFC championship games?

"Both the AFC and NFC championship games were stinkers neither lived up to the hype I'll push back on the first one I don't know what people really expected I get that this was a Tennessee team that it was a team people maybe started to buy into because of Derek can range because of the fact that they defeated the patriots and defeated the Baltimore Ravens and was anyone other than Nate Burleson who on the CBS Bob pregame show he picked the Tennessee Titans I think to win by four five points was anyone else pick in Kansas city lose this game what was anyone so I don't expect that to be a great game I expected that to be a blowout what I would say though and where I would push back is that the first step but don't was entertaining enough and and the other day I met the other day it was awful it was brutal that was a boring football game unless if you're forty I understand you were loving it because if you're a fan of a team that's the best type again you can get when it's a blow out you dont that any stress you're going to have time it's twenty seven did not thing and you're trying to talk yourself into Hey I'd the score quickly would you know Green Bay they they had a response for a little bit maybe if you start to feel a bit tight but you know that game was over so the second game there is no doubt was absolute stinker was an absolute blowout was an absolute pedestrian football game it was so boring that second game still though you need to give credit where credit is due because that is been a team this year other than the game against the Baltimore Ravens where they could won that game too there's really never a moment when you look at the forty Niners and you were disappointed with them this year I even act and I wasn't disappointed when they are lost the ravens either because it was a close game but that's what this team is done all throughout the year no matter who you put in front of them they find a way to get the job done and the San Francisco forty Niners and a lot of the times it's not even close and going back to when the year started when we look at the San Francisco forty Niners what did you think about that it may be if everything goes right they would be at best the sixty member Jimmy J. in there and the beginning where he was in training camp down interception after interception people saying are you know I this is a quarterback is not worth the money is not worth the money and identity only to rate passes the other day but that's what you need to do that's all I need to do to get a victory they would've been fullest nine a day elected to throw the football there they need to do it because most was running modeled for over two hundred yards and four touchdowns but you were back in the forty Niners team this year thirty one to seventeen the ball out Tampa Bay forty one seventeen they blot Cincinnati the bridge work twenty four twenty the first time I think they really delivered a big time statement was up against the Browns that was a Monday Night Football game it was thirty one to thirty wasn't even close then they back it up with a victory over the rams twenty seven all right didn't play great in that monsoon of a game against the Redskins but they still one nine nothing they crushed Carolina fifty one to thirty one Caroline at a very good record then I Jimmy G. step up and make that big third down throw against the cardinals they went twenty to twenty five all right they suffer the first loss this was the Seattle twenty seven twenty four game is that over time they bounce back they beat Arizona thirty six to twenty six they crushed green bank thirty seven to eight they lose the Baltimore at some questionable play calling at the end and they lose twenty to seventeen them beat the saints forty eight forty six all right that the heck up they lose to let the twenty nine to twenty two but a led display better at the end of the season then beat the rams are Jimmy G. makes those two big turning sixteen diversion thirty four thirty one and they had the memorable finish up against the Seahawks which led them into a bye let them into the number one overall seed and wasn't a great first half against the Vikings they make the big turnover was Sherman and the second half they win that game and they dismantled the Packers all throughout the year the Packers they were a team that we are trying to say that they were great but the bad guys never I never really looked at and said wow that's great football team sure there were times defense look really good the president's very Smith sure there were times where Rodgers stepped up and delivered and evidence by last week those two big third down throws doesn't want Adams sure there were times with Jones tolling for twenty touchdown drive the number was yeah there were times where in pieces you said well this is really impressed about the Packers but as a team you never looked at them as a dominant team even with the inflator record of thirteen and three we're on the other side you see what Kansas city was doing it was that slow start they had some losses early on my homes gets hurt defense wasn't playing well and really ever since we go live in on that team in Kansas city all started to gel moms is back he was helping my homes was with the weapons that they have that was never really concerned about the offense and then defensively that was the team that has started to improve a Frank Clark with the honey badger entire on that do you and they totally did a complete one eighty with their defense with that defense doesn't have to be great that defense just has to be good and of that defense is good or even an average with the way that that quarterback threw for playoff games by the way for playoff games sixty two point seven percent completion percentage one thousand one hundred and eighty eight yards passing eleven touchdowns and no interceptions first your S. C. title game loss where it was it was it is small and second year now they're in the Superbowl third total year in the league but study the is the this does second time starting his first year he's behind Alex but then they get one start that season and if you look at that's run fifty one to seven they outscored Houston after going down twenty four nothing after going down seventeen to seven the Tennessee twenty eight to seven he threw the touchdown passes last year and his first full season starting at the end of the quarterback position this is a video game this is sensational and it just keeps on getting impressive an impressive week after week it's almost as if you want to just keep seeing them go down twenty four points and how they're gonna find a way to come on back and we set it up last week well you can't go down big the Tennessee with the way they run the football they went down ten points and still the game in the second half was over this time around again the forty Niners maybe it'll be different because the way that defense plays but it's it's amazing what Holmes is doing it really is and both these teams I would say that the two best teams I know that that's where we are at the finish line but when you look at it I thought can seize guns to brought before this season and the other thing that team and the forty Niners all throughout the year they've been the best team and they keep on showing the showing up but they keep on passing the test we get a

"Now. We got to see what Cleveland's GonNa do from here and also what Baltimore go do for me. What Pittsburgh is going to do going up against Baltimore this upcoming week in Pittsburgh we shall see because we're a Baltimore having given up back to back five hundred plus yards against Kansas City and then Cleveland. Would you think they're gonNA be looking to do against Mason. Rudolph steelers can handle that we about find out. ESPN's edited seven to nine three seven six. You're listening to Stephen a Stephen a Smith show. Espn Radio Espn News now let me switch gears because I came into my office this morning and I was greeted by my Social Media Guy who informed me alerted me and then showed me a video oh of former NBA player Matt Barnes talking about me mad bonds as been an NBA NBA for several years several teams retired from basketball these for the time being I'm obviously not obviously but he's about to start a podcast for showtime actually congratulations to him as my man Stephen Jackson you can see him on ESPN CBS. Sometimes sometimes you can see him on. F S One given basketball announced by the way. Let me say this pretty damn good. I actually wish we had Steven Jackson on stroke on. ESPN WE are more as not tip to executives at ESPN. Stephen Jackson call the brother knows a thing or two about the MP Rachel Nichols passive on her show the job sometimes brother nobody talking about now he's real well him and bonds started podcast together and they obviously doing podcast about. Shota Matt Bon specifically has taken issue with my position about we'd listen to what mad ball went on social media and I said about more Stephen a first foam or someone to say Manhattan and appreciate what you've done for basketball but more than general it with either way bring people news but I gotta say man. I'm really bothered by your stance on cannabis in their lack of knowledge of cannabis and the trails trails you put out into the media considering your platform is so big that people really listen and follow behind you but on this subject you have very a little knowledge and you contender continue to make a mockery out of something that a lot of us take very serious and it really depend on and no the benefits and how how much you can really help not only athletes everyone for mark grandparents to children so but that said a much podcast with Stephen Jackson hole the smoke next month with showtime and we'd like to fly educated conversation slash debate about it and put all the bed. That was Matt Bonds for those of you who don't know let me remind you Matt Barnes's. Matt bonds is a former. NBA plays plays thirty nine years of age. I didn't hear about retirement but I'm assuming these retirement he played for various teams throughout his NBA career play the clippers played for the Sacramento Kings play for the New York Knicks play for the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers playfield Golden State Warriors the Phoenix Suns the Orlando Magic the Lakers the clippers again and then Memphis then in two thousand sixteen twenty seventeen Sacramento and golden state as well so that's one two three four five six seven a nine teams seven nine eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen sixty nine teams over sixteen sixteen years there are those of you the no doubt heard that there are those of you no doubt who saw that on social media and and you expect me to come back at Matt Bombs. Let me assure you something that ain't GonNa Happen and guy very very very bad news for you. I love that bombs and I love Stephen Jackson. I love both of those brothers we talk about points ability whatever even though both of them could play and Steven Jackson a champion. We talk about that. I'm GonNa tell you why I love them. There is real as it gets in a phoney bone in their body. I want everybody to understand that that video gnat sound that I just played on this radio show that Matt Bon said on social media. I found zero absolutely nothing disrespectful about four about what he had to say. He's absolutely right. I am ill informed about we cannibus. I am fax facts. Totally ill formed about it. That's not my position. My position is is against recreational use of we'd now for medicinal purposes but I'm not going to elaborate on that too much today. I don't blame Matt Bond. Obviously it's a serious subject to him. It's a serious subject. Stephen Jackson is a serious subject to a lot of NBA the eight players and professional athletes out there who are investing in a cannabis business by the way. It's become very very profitable for some people. I remember reading something about Al Harrington. NBA Player aw very profitable to him nate Burleson. I got a double check. I think he's got investment in in one of the companies. I'm not sure about that but listen. It's not a joke to them so so Matt Barnes taken offense to something that I'd say now. I got my own position to defend but I WANNA make sure that I emphasize to everybody I got nothing respect for where he's coming from and Steven Jackson feels the same way got enough. Delta two brothers that could come up to say say to me Stephen Name. We need to talk to you. We take you got wrong and even though I listen to most people I damn sure am going to listen to them. I got mad love and respect for both of them we all go back a long ways and me as an NBA reporter covering knows dude. They have never rely to me ever anytime I was spoken to them. I've got nothing but truth and total fairness and authenticity from the bowl to them from the both of them they are as real as it gets and they go with me the only reason I bring this up is is because of the issue of my issue about weed and athletes and number two because Ma- bonds invited me on his his pockets now just so you know our ESPN and so they said it's GonNa be Shota. I have to give permission just in the interest of full disclosure. I cannot do the interview without ESPN's permission but if he says he and I'm going to encourage them to I do so it would be my honor and privilege to show up for that interview number one because I'll be talking to do that like brothers to me and number number two because I think it's a subject worthy of discussion because the one thing that does get lost in the suffer we see cats tattered up and you know what they hard core and stuff they come from the streets and everybody automatically thinks that did devoid of intelligence. Does Two Brothers smartest Hal thinkers this smart they know how to articulate their thoughts. They speak logically about things to be factually about things and even when they disagree disagree with you. They got a perspective that you gotTa respect my response this so do. I so I'm hopeful. First of all talk three of us. Go Talk Anyway because I told you I got love for them but the other side to all of this is that I'm going to ask if I could come on that podcast because bonds Stephen Jackson I would love to come on as a guest and I appreciate the invite and there's another thing see this is. There's there's another thing that y'all need to realize about real. There's a whole bunch of people out is social media beyond some cats got shows and all of this other stuff and they chirp Chirp Chirp Chirp behind your bat that a Matt Barnes that as Stephen Jackson if you know anything about them. They don't roll like that. That's not who they are. They got an issue with me what they do. They reached out. Come on. Let's do this. I respect. I wish more people did that. I wish more of these athletes in football and basketball invite me. You got a problem with what I said do what that Border Stephen J reinvite me and I'm only telling y'all because I want to come on. I want to accept the invite. I just can't do it without ESPN. Okay 'cause the different network so the business of networks and all of that stuff is something that you have to pay attention to. That's what I have to do. That's what I have to deal with but I wanted the world to know they invited me and I want them. No no in the world to know I am more than happy to come on and have this discussion Matt Bonds. You will be here for me very very shortly and and I hope I can come on Bro. I appreciate by number love for you. Man nother beloved for you at eight say. ESPN it's eight eight eight seven two nine three seven seven six listen live to the Steve Smith Show. ESPN RADIO ESPN is nate Burleson of the NFL network will be NC BS will be on with us next so let's not miss that make sure you stay tuned right here with Steven A. ESPN radio ESPN WHO's by the way by now. You've probably heard me talk about my computer career and nope not me. I don't know the first thing about about computers or guess what that's okay you. "I I say has a problem with Wa about my position on Campus Aka. We but that's definitely something that I will address talk about in the minutes to calm matter of fact. I'm GonNa make sure I talk about that in this first segment but not before I get into what transpired on Monday night football last night the Pittsburgh steelers lead by Mason Rudolph ran roughshod over the Cincinnati bengals ended up winning the game twenty seven to three the defense offense sacked Andy Dalton eight times held him to one hundred seventy one yards of passing. Let them finish the evening with a fifty seven seven point four percent passer rating Mason Rudolph meanwhile completed twenty four twenty eight passes for two hundred twenty nine yards two touchdowns a one twenty four point six six waiting not to mention the fact that at one point at one point he completed seventeen of eighteen passes laser as a gentleman as a result of the Pittsburgh steelers won their first game of the season and won three the only a game back at a two and two thousand Baltimore Ravens. This obviously obviously a lot to hope for considering the fact that three quarters of the season still remains but I'm not excited and I'm not excited for very very simple reason. This is Bingo suck. They're awful. This is a god awful disgustingly bad football team. There's no word slices. There's really no way to slice this. The offensive line is horrid what all of a sudden Joe Mixing Giovanni but not all forgotten how to run the football. They didn't Forget Ladies Gentlemen. Nobody's blockade for them. Just like nobody was blocked for Andy. Dalton last night just smacked around pushed around talking about how they got embarrassed on Monday night football. The organization has historically quickly been an embarrassment because you've got an older. Who's he's a miser. He's about underpaying due to keep more money in his pocket kid. He doesn't prioritize winning. He robs the citizens of Cincinnati. Damn here get me wrong. I'm a complete support of the Louis being gone. Don't think for one second there are backtrack from that position. I've never had I've never once said that. Marvin Lewis doesn't deserve to be a head coach. What I said is he doesn't deserve deserve to be the head coach of the Cincinnati bengals because when you go six teen years and can't win one Dan playoff game. You've you've had your time. It is a disgrace for anybody to be allowed to stay in a position fission where they are stagnant. There is no growth there is continual ineptitude that is not setting an example but take eulalie when when you're asking other folks to patronize your product with their money it's not right. You can't sit up there and I mean sixteen years. Without a playoff win sixteen years sixteen years ago had Afro you could call. I'll be Michael Jackson or my little cousin from the Jackson Five Desert. You could've called me. I had an afro sixty years ago. I want to hear no damn thing about Marvin. Lewis Sixteen years can one playoff game now. One I stand by my position marvelous. I mean no harm to him and his family. I don't don't want him not receiving a paycheck. I don't want him to have an inability to feed his family and take care his bills and all of this. I don't give a damn what money you give him. He should be as the head coach coach Sonetti pickles because when you have sixteen years to produce and you can't come up for one playoff win not one oh a seven you gotta go but that doesn't mean as activity should have been a head coach former special teams coach for the Los the Angeles Rams. I think that was the position he held he. Just you know how you can just look at somebody on the sidelines and just see the thing over there. That's what I saw I saw yesterday. It's not to say that he won't be a head coach. It's not to say that somewhere down the line. The Cincinnati Bengals won't produce but just looking at him last night. Everything mm said Damn. He ain't ready yet. He might have needed to wait another couple years where he got a head coaching job he ready for this shit. Everything you saw last night spoke spoke to that. They think they just think still got this kid. James Caan had a nice twenty. One Yard run ah but on the afternoon ten carries for forty one yards on evening. This is not that impressive. I'm reading from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette an outstanding newspaper. They do a great job covering the Pittsburgh steelers. You want to know about it. Read the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. They covered his team backwards infowars. Nobody does it better no question about it. I'm not here to cast any aspersions on embassy as a publication at all nor any of its writers Ron Cook by the way one of their columnists. It's one of my favorite people read. Let me be very clear but you actually had this. How far the steelers have fallen. You actually had to make a big deal feel about the fact that connor had forty two yards rushing and Samuel had twenty six yards rushing they actually we're making a big deal about this. Gentleman has sixty yards combined rushing the football on twenty carries and you had these folks sitting up there. I mean my goodness determinant hall of fame now. Mason Serov was asked to exercise this short yardage passing game. He hit that kid the Johnson five pattern for forty three yards middle crossed crossed field rather left side of near the end zone forty three ya-bom laser gentlemen. There wasn't a Cincinnati Bingo within twenty five feet of them. Call it a miscommunication call. It people know what the hell they were doing. Caller whatever you want. There was not a single Cincinnati bengals defender within twenty five the odds of him. There were missed tackles. There were botched plays. There were missed assignments. There was no enthusiasm. The only person on the Cincinnati bengals that appeared remotely enthusiastic was Andy Dalton when he went on the sideline and threw his helmet at the bitch and frustration that is it there was nobody body within the facility of Johnson. This is just a bad bad bad situation Cincinnati's. Oh it for this season is already ready over remember Cincinnati's in Ohio that means the weather's about to get cold. If it's not already I mean you would think that the football team will give them something to look forward to and happening. No can't do that can't give them something to look forward to the team. Sticking up the joint on its own native pass gas shed and they still steak. There's sorry that's who they are. That's who they are. The last time folks Cincinnati had something to smile about was what a cat. Williams stand up comedy shows what he showed up at Cincinnati. That's about it. Did I saw that on tape by the way it was Flos. Cat Williams was funny as hell but I digress. That's how they had anything to cheer about Resin. Give you nothing to cheer about out because they give you nothing to cheer about and they don't have a basketball team. I mean it's a damn shame. Oh I'm sorry they gotTa go over to Louisville Kentucky to watch the cardinals which being coached by Rick Pitino anymore by the way good luck with that or you could go to Kentucky Lexington Kentucky. That's nearby Cincinnati two guests. John Caliber have a national championship contender. That's about it that's their version of pro basketball and Cincinnati unless they want to trek to Cleveland and abroad James Noble. I mean this is some trifling stuff that the football team can't find a way to get it together but I'm not surprised I'm not surprised and as it pertains to the Pittsburgh steelers. Let me say this you want. I everybody knows how much I love the steelers everybody who knows how unapologetically root for my brother Mike Tomlin James Caan any Levian Bell Juju Smith Schuster has got seventy cents for about two hundred and fifty eight yards can't get anything going just got that just had three receptions last night. I need to see more from him. I ain't seeing it. It live aid to say without Antonio Brown and you do number. One guy now is it. I'm not disrespected. You just wish I like him a lot. I'm simply saying we gotta be careful about elevating people above their grade before they're ready to do twenty one twenty two years old. Nobody thought about that when they were talking about him. Being number the one because you got James Washington or somebody else like a Vance McDonald and Deontay Johnson because you guess what they don't have to double those dudes they'll just w and as a result of Double Juju Smith Schuster. He Ain't GonNa do the same things he did. When Antonio Brown was on the opposite side out of the field so everywhere you turn the steelers a compromised and I was supposed to believe in them. Cleveland might have had troubles Cleveland might have a second year quarterback rookie coach a second year quarterback Baker Mayfield only complete the twenty percent of his passes in the red zone of first year coach and Freddie kitchen that has made a comedy of Arizona's young season but they ought to into there have been some good moments for both of them and I happen to believe leaving both of them. I think they're going to be pretty good. I think Freddie Kitchens is going to end up being a pretty damn good. It doesn't mean they should have been sticking their chest bloviating about who they are and how good they aw and all of this other stuff before they actually went out on the field and did it. It doesn't mean that Baker Mayfield should be standing up at press conferences talking about all. We remember people to to us the trash. We Ain't GonNA forget worried about the same things instead of doing already told them to do. It has to be worried about nothing else but what's going on in this locker room but Baker Mayfield is clearly early preoccupied which by the way I don't mark for the purposes of our business. That's a good thing that he's given us headlines and he's not a squirrel. He could play any and knucklehead does getting himself into any kind of issues like Johnny. Manziel was and I'm not disrespected Johnny Manziel. I'm just speaking fact so I like Jake Baker Mayfield's upside. I I like his personality. I think he's pointing his ire. In the wrong direction. We get paid to chronicle what you do and when you stay they cut the joint we gotta say so just like what you play wealth to offer two hundred three hundred and forty two yards the other day complete twenty thirty twenty one and thirty one passes. We gave you props dropping forty on the Baltimore Ravens. We gave you props.

"Couple of weeks ago. I upset the l._b._a. Community the bron- apologised colleges community lebron james suffers from fame and social media diction the aftermath lebrons. Hey look at me antics at his son's a you game i said fame as an addiction more dangerous than cocaine nate burleson and other members of the community rushed to the internet to preach to the world lebron. That is a good daddy. They take care of his kids. Well at the risk of upsetting. I'm going to once again point out that the latest of the latest it is example of the negative side effects of lebron's addiction to fame the thirty four year old basketball star claims to have identified football's most unique challenge and further claims to have invented solution class helmets players being assigned a helmet and do not have no voice and no one knows who they are because of the helmet and no one ever truly know on that there's actually a person inside there and not taking that seriously they will be seen by uninterrupted did and this right here is the farce glass helmet and meaning behind it is all these great athletes athletes that play our wonderful sport football will be heard and we'll be saying because they are at the end of the day they are people as well. They take these helmets off and they are people when they have the helmets on as well so when i first saw this. I thought it was a comedy skit. Get thought lebron was having some fun and then i watched a four minute youtube video titled the glass helmet project tackling one of football's most unique challenges. Oh sweet jesus. I think the broader series the bronze side kick maverick carter some nondescript former n._f._l. Player andrew hawkins and an artist artist are pushing the notion that glass helmets or symbolic glass helmets would liberate and humanize oppressed n._f._l. Players i can walk down the street. Be the star football team and nobody knows who i am because people don't recognize you. Ah as players were kind of looked at as warriors or gladiators right and gladiators aren't people who you remember their name take a lot of people when it comes to football they cheer for the laundry in the sense that they refer their teams more than having a direct connection with the players hopefully one day we'll see glass is home is on the

"Be joined today on the fiftieth floor four World Trade Center in Manhattan right near the NFL network studios. Happy to be joined by Nate Burleson, the former NFL wide receiver who now works as an analyst on the really I have to say really fun show. Good morning football because you don't take yourselves to seriously and also one of the analysts on the NFL today show on CBS. So Nate great to be with you. And wow, you've kind of sculpted a wonderful life for yourself haven't you a little bit a little bit? I say, I appreciate it. It's it's an absolute honor. And pleasure. You know, been known you for quite some time. So when you when you reached out there was no question that I was going to do it. But yeah, I've scoped it out a quite a quite a life out here in New York. And who would have thought this young kid who was born in Calgary Alberta. Oughta raising Seattle drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. And then so many years after starting my TV career in LA that I'd be out here. Fulltime six days a week work in between CBS NFL network. But it's it's definitely a journey. And I don't know where I'll be in the next five years. But as you know, when you're in New York, do you gotta wake up smell the coffee and get the hustling to see each live eats a lot. Nate. I'm curious you've really done well early on after your football career was your last year in the NFL two thousand fourteen. Okay. So that's that long ago. So in the span of four years, you have made your way onto a really fun little role with NFL network and also to one of the major pregame shows tell me a little bit about your path. Well, it started just like any other wide receiver and then fail. You know, were were diva. So we want attention. We wanna talk in. We're good at the cliches, and we can answer any question, we know cleverly. But what happened was I realized towards in my career that I wanted to take it serious and the NFL offered the broadcast boot camp. So when they gave broadcast boot camp for people who don't know mount laurel New Jersey every year about what fifteen to twenty twenty guys. They get about thousand applicants believe every year. You get fifteen to twenty guys they go down to mount laurel for a week four week and its former current players that you really have dreams of been TV in some form or fashion. And for me, I thought all right. I'll I'm going. I'm scared by this thing for few days. I'm gonna make some people laugh say some clever things on that I can ride a little bit. And then I got there. And quite frankly, just telling you, what's on my mind. I don't wanna use too many harsh words, but I remember saying to myself halfway through. I don't know shit about being on TV, and it was shocking because as good as I thought I wasn't as many people Pat me on the back and said nature. Good. You have a future in this. I realize there's so many subtleties and nuances. There's I contact body language being concise being confident really knowing what you're talking about. And then the different types of roles on TV. I remember we did an exercise where there was color commentator. And we got the script before the teams that we're going to be talking about. And I'm like, I don't need to study this game. It's the. This Pittsburgh Steelers. And the ravens I'm good now. Let me let me go back. I was actually still playing at the time. So I'm like, all right. Even if you know, I wanna take this seriously as a future job, I'm still playing football. So I do this exercise of color commentator. And I was terrible. I was asking terrible. And we're working with guys that have been in the booth and TNS up, and I just could not bring it home. And I remember walking away after being one of the standouts in the broadcast bootcamp people saying Nate, you're good, man. You got really good a really good foundation. James brown. Was there who ironically, I work with now he was patting me on the back and saying, hey when you get plan reach out, but I wasn't confident. And I went back to work realizing that the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter and brighter..

"Our lacquer that his range I'm talking sideline to sideline and line was like no other and he he rewrote a position that is constantly rewritten. Yeah, which is odd to say Nate Burleson NFL network. Good morning, football co host the highlight of your NFL career was what? The highlight of my NFL career was helping make Detroit relevant. Again, I got draft about Minnesota. Those as great. You know, I remember them handing me a check for five hundred something thousand dollars, and I was like, oh, baby. I'm made it this legit with it. I'll put it right in the Bank. I actually, I got the athlete starter kit, which is the escalate and a fake chain. And then I play fake channel Glaspie. It feels fake. That That was someone. was Z's as I don't buy anything real until you can afford it. And then I went to Seattle, which was great because I'm from Seattle, and I remember them enemy check for four million two point, six on and I was like, mama. We made it again and then assigned a Detroit. And that was a little bit bigger and that was fun. But it was more than the money because two years prior, they were almost sixteen a year previous. They were two and fourteen and I remember a player now locked them the day. I signed said, oh, I thought I thought it was thought it was a rumor. You understand, this is the funeral for God's careers. I didn't believe that you assign here. Why would you sign you out of all places? I'm looking at this dude in my head. I'm thinking they pay you bro by you saw you sign up to represent the citizens organization and you here on Sundays and they're cutting you a check. And I had to like change that mindset in that culture, and they weeded some guys out. They brought in some guys and now like Detroit, they don't look at themselves as the armpit and NFL and I know it's kind of cyclical. So it happens a certain teams right now. I think the Cleveland Browns are in the midst of that which is walking a pre. She ate a Baker Mayfield who says, yeah, wanna go there. Like I want to be part of something because if you can, if you can change the complexion of how a team is viewed and the procession of themselves, like your legend forever, even if you don't win your legend. I, I spent four years in Detroit. I was banged up more than I would've wished I was unfulfilled number two, Calvin, if I stay healthy. Of course I'd have been better, but because I was invested in chew to Calvin Johnson Imraan number two to Randy mall and Randy at their peak who's better. At their peak s of question at their peak, I will say. Randy moss pump more fear in guys if you break down like just pure ability, who do you want now you want. I want I want. I would want Randy moss. I won't run. Okay. But it's close. It's close because the reason that I'm thinking so much. Thank you to say, Calvin, Andy might blow. Yup, right. None of this, if who would I want? Because Randy was so small sometime Olympic speed for Olympic speed. Fess. Calvin was the more well rounded wide receiver. He could block better. He's more physical at the point of attack. If you ran Calvin across the middle, he's gonna try to run over your linebacker in your safety, and then scores has now you Ray Randy moss over the middle. He's gonna catch the boys, not gonna take that big shot. But Randy space was that umbrella decent defense. He took that top off every time, but the fear I would, I remember being in the slot and looking at Randy as lineup, he was standing erect like completely up. It's it's a verse to wet. We're taught as why she was you get low. You're like a car coming out of the gates and he as tall as he was the DB's were so scared. No exaggeration, see the wider is see their hands trembling and not see their toes. Lifted up off the ground toes, which means in their head. They were thinking, oh, I gotta get outta here and they were already on the hills. And I will look at Randy and he'd be looking at me like, damn, right the plane..
