"AP's sports and Mike Reeves, it was a frantic finish at the Indianapolis 500, our Tom McKay reports. Josef Newgarden used a one lap shootout to grab the lead from 2022 champ Marcus Ericsson to win the Indy 500. You know, I wasn't looking to take anyone else out of the race, but I was going to put my car on the line to win. And I was either going to win the race or I was going to end up in the wall. Major League Baseball the rays win a wild one over the Dodgers in Tampa Bay, correspondent Steve Carney provides the details. The Tampa Bay Rays used a 7th inning RBI ground out by wander Franco to break a ten ten tie and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 11 to ten. Both starters got hit around as Gavin stone allowed 7 runs in two innings of work, while Josh Fleming allowed ten runs in 6 innings, including 5 home runs, Tampa Bay finishes at ten game home stands 7 and three, while the Dodgers complete their longest road trip of 2023 with a four and 6 Mark. The Yankees used a 7 run third inning to defeat the Padres ten to 7, Aaron judge and Harrison Bader hit home runs to support winning pitcher Garrett Cole, who is now 6 and zero. This was a good team win today for sure. I mean, being able to kind of subdue them through the middle innings and keep the momentum. Larson dominates for third NASCAR All-Star race win, takes home $1 million

"Kyle Larson took the NASCAR Cup Series all star drivers to the proverbial woodshed at the historic North Wilkesboro speedway and handed out a meeting. Knowing how good my car was, I wanted the second segment to play out exactly like you did. I just wanted a long run to the end. No drama. And that's what happened. He took home the win and the $1 million winner take all paycheck. Larson is the only driver to win three all star races at three different tracks, but can see that Sunday's victory was extra special on the resurrected speedway that hadn't seen NASCAR action since 1996. If I had to pick one of any of them, I think winning it historic track like this, you'd be in the first Cup Series winner since 96 is probably the coolest coolest thing. Bubba Wallace tried to chase Larsen down, but didn't have the speed to catch up. I even hit it on the head, you know, really all season, so to run second of them is not a bad thing, but the run second all star race. Sucks. His teammate Tyler Reddick finished third. Larson pulls away from Logano to win at Martinsville

"Kyle Larson picked up his first ever win at Martinsville speedway holding off Joey Logano to bring home one of the coolest trophies in NASCAR, the Martinsville grandfather clock. I'm not in the clocks or anything like that. So being that it's a clock doesn't add any significance to me, but I think every time you look at it and you look at it, it'll remind me of the ten years of struggling. I've had here. Larson led the funnel 30 left of the race after Logano stayed out with old tires on the late caution. He said he could no longer keep Larson's Hendrick motor sports own. Number 5 car behind him. He caught me so quick and there's still 25, 30 to go, and I was like, I don't have a chance here, but I'll make it wide for a while. John Zmirak Reacts to Russell Moore's Recent Editorial About Trump

"A few minutes left with John's mirac. John, you're talking before about the Russell Moore article in Christianity today, which is very similar to the article that he wrote a year ago that I responded to a year ago in very highfalutin language. He is saying some really ugly, unbiblical things, but he's convinced that if he uses the right language, he can nuance it enough to fool enough people. Right. And so in the article I say that he has the power of doctor Doolittle, he can talk to the weasels, because the article, I'm sure he wrote, it was written in weasel. It's a weaselly language to get away with saying basically we should collaborate with the Democrats and with elites wherever necessary to crush conservative populism. Conservative populism and nationalism. These things are so evil that we should cooperate with the abortion lobby. We should take money from George Soros as Russell Moore's organizations have done or Pierre omidyar as David French's organizations have done. We should take money from leftist billionaires who hate Christianity and hate America and love Marxism. That's okay to cooperate with those people, but you, people, you NASCAR fans, can not collaborate with Donald Trump.

"William Byron hit the jackpot at Las Vegas Motor Speedway leading 176 out of 271 laps to take the win and lock himself in to NASCAR's playoffs later this year. Happy with getting the first one of the year it's been a while since we've won. It's been almost a year and it's nice to kind of just get back to what I feel like we're capable of. It was a teammate trifecta as barents teammate Kyle Larson finished second. I thought Kyle was really strong. He could stay close to me for a lot of the runs. The 24 pits I was just better than ours there at the end. So bummed, but all in all, we needed a good run today. You have second and all three stages and good points today. "A fist. This is the fun part because I get all kinds of different answers from football coaches to my dad, to a fictional hero in a book I read when I was a kid. For you growing up. Outside of slice Stallone, okay? In that movie where he's using scissors to cut up his pizza, a cobra. What for you were the seminal influences for your internalizing and understanding what it means to be a man. I mean, obviously my father. But I think maybe even more my grandfather, no slight to my father, but my grandfather was he only died a couple of years ago, so you lived a nice little long while. Had a full head of salt and pepper hair till the day he died. It chain smoked like a chimney whisky from dawn. What was his innings? How long did he live as a chain smoker? Like late 80s? Something like that? Almost into his 90s. I don't know. They ought to bought a bottle that man's jeans. But smoke like a chimney, whisky, NASCAR. He sounded like Johnny Cash kind of looked like him too. And yet, for all of his vices and imperfections, for all of his proclivities, any time you called him, he would show up. I remember vividly, and this is a story that I will never forget when I was in school elementary school in band. He was not expected like, right? You called all the grandparents, you expected all the other ones to show up, but he was the drunk, right? He was the one you didn't expect to show up. And it was bring your grandparents to school day or whatever. Grandparents day, I think it was. And I had a band recital that day and whatever. And all the grandparents that you expect to show up did, and then I look over and he's just there. He was, he was one of those guys who was just an absolute rock. He was a man. "nascar" Discussed on NASCAR America

"True. And I do. Listen, I worked with Adam. Adam worked for us long many years ago. And I just think he is a great human being and a great person, but incredibly thorough. And everything he does. And I think everybody attributed some of these Kyle Busch championships to a 100% driver. And I think you can't. No. You can't. There is no a 100% driver that wins anything anymore. It's these combinations that we're talking about right here. And I think talking to Christopher Bell after the race when when you're in position and Adam Steven says, come down pit road, we're going to put four towers on you with 6 laps to go or whatever. Christopher Bell said, I'm going to come down pit road, because I believe. I trust. I trust and I believe in Adam Stevens. And that is something that you can't. There's not a wedge there. And we've seen it. And I think Parker mentioned Todd Gordon. Once there's a crack in that combination of Joey Logano and entire Gordon, it's time to separate. Once there's a crack between Allen and chase, you've got to separate. You got to pull them apart. Nobody saw that with Jimmy Johnson and Jackson. We see it. We've seen it in this sport more than we want to talk about sometimes. But a lot of times that crew chief never gets that second opportunity. Adam Stevens has gotten another opportunity and is making the most of that opportunity with this kid. And I believe this, I believe, and everything he's driven from midgets and sprints to whatever he's ever done. It's prepared him for this moment. He didn't flinch when he got to the robo. He didn't flinch when he got the Martinsville. What makes you think he's going to flinch when he gets to Phoenix? I just don't see that happening to Christopher Bell. I don't see him flinching at all. And this team has consistently told me from before the playoffs that they were a chip four caliber team. They proved it in the round of 16 when they were the best team of the highest scoring throughout that round. They've obviously had two tumultuous rounds to get here to the championship for, but I absolutely would not count out this 20 car and possibly to do it in the way that they won the robo and they won Martin so which you just brought up Kyle, which is do something different. Find a way and you got to give Adam Stevens the lot of credit for doing that and then Christopher Bell executing when putting those positions because he both times put him on a different strategy and did something different and then the driver rose up and took it for what it took that opportunity. So I absolutely see this team being a bona FIDE contender and you just can not count them out. I won't count them out to literally the checking flag balls because they'll find them. That's right. Agree. Well, we've made the case for each of the Cup championship for drivers. Now I'm going to force your hand and make you guys pick a championship contender to win it all. We also have to go over NASCAR Xfinity series championship as well coming up. After ten months of racing, it all comes down to 200 laps

"And he made it. He had situational awareness. This is what's crazy. And Parker, you know this. This is what's crazy to me. He asked, what do I need to do? And they say, you got to get two more. Now that's coming up out of turn two. Turn two. Yeah, he's got a car. He's got nobody in front of him. He's got basically. Okay, so in a 23 or 24 second lap, he's got 12 seconds. Let's just say he's got 12 seconds to pick up two positions. Yeah. And if you listen to the in car and he's so calm about it, so common. If you listen to the end car, when he gets to three, he up ships. He goes to fear. He goes to fear. He is so freaking committed that he goes again. It's like, okay, double down. Here we go, man. We're selling all. And it's funny because we saw Carl try this. Carl Edwards at Kansas when he slid in under Jimmy and got up next to the wall and powered up. We've seen Kyle Larson. We have never seen anybody this committed. To making it work. And I'm not sure it would work any of those things. No, that's not what I'm saying. And substantial. Yeah, it is so circumstantial. So but I mean, when he got there, he just powered up. And that is, it transcends the sport. It transcends all sports. I don't care. I don't think until I see somebody else in another sport do this. I've been around this sport a long time. I've never seen anyone look at the playing field and play the game that different and come out on top. Yeah, and we talk about it being very circumstantial in NASCAR came out and said they will not implement a rule on a Chastain like mood heading into Phoenix. Steve O'Donnell came out and said, you know, we haven't done anything for the first 35 races of the year. We're not going to change it for the 36th, and there were mixed driver reactions. There were a couple of drivers, which I have a problem with that didn't like the move. And I think they are mad. They've either to Larson's point that it didn't work for him. They're mad they didn't do it. So here's what I want to say. Here's what I'm going to say, okay? To all those drivers, you can't look at me. You can't look at a fan. I don't ever want to hear it. Come out of your lips again that you would wreck your mama to win a championship that I would watch. Because you wouldn't. Ross Chastain would. Yes. Ross Chastain showed us that he would do whatever it took. So in my point is, they said, it's dangerous. Man, it's dangerous, man. You don't need to get up there on the wall. That's dangerous. What about reckon your mama? Yeah. What about wrecking your racing in general? What about, what about wrecking someone on purpose? What about that is not dangerous. So, you know, I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear it anymore. Listen, let me just say this, Parker. It's Wednesday morning. I got up. I got up at my house. I walked out of my front yard and I could still hear drivers whining and Martinsville because they got their butts kicked. I'm sorry. And I'm 65, I'm 70 miles away, and I still hear them wine. So I got a couple points. One, I think this is really cool because this is why you watch live sports, right? The anticipation of a moment, something unbelievable, something never seen before, I can think of, you know, personally for me and another sport, the Giants of the helmet catch. Many years ago, that was a very cool moment, right? So that's something I'll never forget. And I think there's multiple and racing, right? I think of the 2011 Indy 500. Where they held a brand goes into the wall in the last corner. Those sorts of moments, Dale Earnhardt winning the Daytona 500. So I just think this is why you watch live sports. It's the anticipation of seeing something unbelievable like this or something really cool. Now for all the drivers who have a problem with it. Here's my thought. So I thought immediately, wow, that's unbelievable. This is so cool. I can't believe you pulled that off, but within probably about, I don't know, a minute I thought, all right, so now what do we do from here? Because I know what Phoenix this weekend, it's probably not going to happen. It's probably not feasible down in turns three and four to do it because of the shape of the wall and although some people have tested on iRacing instead it's about, I don't know, 5 tenths to 6 tenths faster. I still don't think it's probably that feasible to do. This car is allowed it and what we saw Martinsville there compared to what we saw out of Larsen at Darlington, but what I don't want to see. And I think this has been a pretty popular thing is I don't want this to be the norm of how you finish every Martinsville race, right? That's the problem. The problem

But as Steve said, I have empathy for what they're having to do with the complexity of the way we race these days, which in that there is so many more rules and things. Obviously, to help the show. And so they're trying to manage that the best way possible, but when there's, you know, fundamentals like this, which is the idea of one competitor wrong in another in a safety violation under caution. I just feel like that is something you can't miss. This is, as said before, this is the largest sanctuary in the United States in auto racing. Like this is, this is the top of the top. And you know, this is to say, did they not have a response or to miss something on track amongst the 36 cars are out there is just unacceptable in my opinion. So obviously there has to be some sort of change, some sort of development from here to say, okay, how do we not let this happen again? Because, you know, you can have once, that's a mistake twice as a problem, right? So we really have to, and the sport has to look at, do you need more officials? Do you need more cameras? Do you need access to cameras? Do you need another person that's looking at cameras? Whatever it is, you just can't miss something like this. As I said, I was on pit road behind a pit box and the safety car and I still saw Daniel has been into the crest. So like, come on, I've got the worst view possible, and I still saw it. So now the one thing I do want to put out there as a guy who's in the booth charged with trying to cover everything that happens, I miss stuff in every race. There's so much going on. That's the challenge of it, right? And we have directors producers and cameras and all kinds of people talking in our ears. We saw the 11 spin, but we didn't even have a great view of it. The highlight we keep showing is the new NASCAR in car camera, right? Well, that system is so new. We don't have it at NBC. The tower doesn't have it. Scott Miller has total stats. So here's all I will say is this. I'm a huge golf fan. And as technology improved, golf got ruined. When every fan with a camera and everybody on Twitter became an official. And we're going to talk about the club touching the grass, touching the sand, touching this, touching that. It ruined the game for me. So I will just put the little asterisk that we have this emphatic video on board with the 24 running over the 11. We at NBC didn't have it that I know of, nor did the tower. Now, is that excusable? Does the system need to change? That's a different conversation. I just want to make sure everybody knows when we show this right here. I was not able to see that footage from my that would have been great information. I have. I think here's the problem with the disconnect here is within minutes of the incident happening on the NASCAR Twitter account. NASCAR's social media channels, they tweeted out that video and all of the fans, as Parker well knows, as a digital guy, everybody on NASCAR dot com has access to those in car cameras now. It's a relatively new technology because of the next gen car, all the cars now are equipped with in car camera capability. So it is delayed. Which is a huge currently. And it's a huge plus for the sport. It's a huge place. The content right to the competitor. Awesome stuff. And I love it for this exact purpose. You know, either live, being able to watch it on NASCAR dot com or the idea that you have these different vantage points of things that happened later in the week. But this does seem like something that if they can't see that or they don't have access to that or they you have a person who's obviously maybe their job is to simply when an instant happens, go to those two cars onboard cameras and look at them, right? And send them to the tower. Bam, there you go. Solve, right? We have the tech. Now it's about facilitating the work process to get it in front of the table. Right. No, I don't disagree with Parker. I just thought that needed to be pointed out because it's only been around a couple of weeks. And I have used it at the racetrack. It is remarkably delayed from what is happening like laps, laps behind. Don't think that they're going to get it. Technology is great until it doesn't work, right? Welcome to. But what you're saying, I think, has credence. It essentially ruined golf for you that fans are calling violations. If fans have access to through this content, what's happening on the track before NASCAR doesn't the tower or the broadcast partners do broadcasting the race, that seems like somebody needs to be addressed. So I don't know the answer. You know, golf basically finally said, hey, we're going to officiate it. We're not going to go off anybody's sending in new information. I don't know the answer for NASCAR, but I will say that, you know, I don't want to have to check my Twitter feed from the booth to see what you're on Twitter less enough as it is. But I guess that's my point. I love to Parker to your point. It's great content. But I wanted me to entertainment content, not officiating content. I hear you, and I want to go down that path just with the fan, you know, policing there that we had, you've talked about golf. Do you remember about four? Or was it four years ago, 5 years ago? When we had the fans that were finding photos of tape on spoilers and so on and bodies. And Las Vegas was 2018. Essentially got penalized because of what social media kind of uncovered, right? And I'm just as happy as Steve that we don't do that. So avoiding that path because I think we're holding our can of worms. Great technology Parker, right? It's relatively new. I'm thankful we pushed it out to the fans because we're always trying to be on the front, but let's not then now criticize that, well, we shouldn't have if they don't have it. Well, do you want it or don't you want it? Let's just celebrate what we have and just all say, look, I'm selfish. I want it on the TV side, and I'm sure the officials want it, right? There's going to be more to this story. Before we leave this discussion, I just want to revisit what you said about Denny Hamlin because as you said earlier, we were having this discussion and I feel like as if there's two things I think to discuss on the 11. One is he essentially tried to do to William Byron William Byron did to him or under caution. There was no penalty for Denny Hamlin essentially trying to hit Byron under caution, but also I still feel as if he was the big loser here and that he should have been in second place until he got spun on under yellow and he essentially had a chance of maybe winning that race, taken away from him. But as you said, you feel like because it's in the rhythm of the race, it's in the flow of what happened. Those are the breaks, right? Don't equate equal affairs, as you always say. Fair and equal are two very different things, right? Everybody should be treated fairly, but every situation is not equal, everyone's not equal. You know what I mean? Like, fair. We all should expect fair. Fair is the key. Officiating, sports, fair. And I think to your point, yeah, Denny Hamlin should be

"This year, you don't have that. I mean, you look at Chase Elliott came in. Over 30%. 2030 points and still, there was a point where they were sweating it coming into this weekend. My favorite thing that was, I don't know if people caught it. So 18 blows up, they come in and Ben says football four tires on it and you're like, we're tires. What are you doing here? That means more than four tires for sure. Austin, Cedric, to cap it off, trying to gain those points to wreck is one thing, but in the final hundred laps being 7 laps down between wave buys and good fortune, they passed the 78, the ten, the 22, the 42 and the 43. Wow. So 5 cars and a hundred laps at the same time, the 12 passed the 18. And surprisingly, the 45 passed the 18 for a whole another show. Joshua, you're on NASCAR motor mouse. Save us from this discussion. As a matter of fact, I will. This is about streamers that have been going around. NASCAR from what I understand could go through the electrical sometimes soon. Hybrid engines from what I've been told will be starting to be kind to these cars as early as next season. Personally, I've been the kind of guy that thinks that strictly gasoline and foil are the future. They always have been. I'm not saying that's an expert opinion on this. So I'm asking what you guys think. Is it all speculation at this point or could we see something like F one B inside these cars sometimes do? Please help me understand this. All right. Joshua brings out it's a good question really on a week where we've had a lot of mechanical failures there are these rumors about potential either an electrical or a hybrid option when it comes to NASCAR. So I'll go first with the crew chief and here's what I think. I think having zero integration of electric or hybrid across all of stock car racing is a mistake. I think what the lifeblood of stock car racing was and will always be the manufacturers and the race fans. The fans come first, but the fans then support these manufacturers. That's why they're in the sport. Those are the drivers come and go. Owners come and go, but the manufacturers and the race fans are number one. So I'm not saying that the NASCAR Cup Series, but I think one of the over series at some point, DJ, we're gonna have to see some sort of integration of future power. There's no doubt it's coming. You know, it's hard for me to wrap my mind around that that that's a possibility a reality that's going to happen. I think we're years away from it happening in the cup side of it, but I do believe that and probably Xfinity is where it'll come into. I just have to believe. So we'll see. You know, what does it do with sound and performance and all of that? I just don't know. It's going to be so interesting. I never even driven one until I had a Tesla rent a car. Daytona for weeks ago. But I was highly impressed with it. And the power was amazing for it. So, but still camp, I don't know that I can. It depends on how you define Sue. I don't think we're going to see it very soon. I think eventually, but NASCAR president Steve Phelps has said that's kind of why they moved in this direction of the next gen is to move it in a place where they could integrate some sort of hybrid electric thing. So it wouldn't surprise me if we do it now. I don't think we're one, two, or even three years near that. I think it's going to be a while, but you can't take anything off the table at this point. No, no, I agree. So I hate to look forward quite this quickly, but this is how the playoffs work, right? There's no weekends off. So we got four drivers eliminated. We've reset the field and we've moved forward. Right now we're going to Texas. We're going to Talladega and we're going to the roval. We had a call earlier, and I'm willing to say, in my opinion, Texas, this coming week is the most important playoff race other than Phoenix. If you win this race, you don't have to worry about Talladega or the roval. I have this long winded question to say, surely we're going to get a playoff winner this week. I mean, because the first time in playoff history, we went an entire round without a playoff driver winning. It wouldn't shock me if we saw another non playoff driver. Now, I do think that we will see possibility a new winner being maybe Blaney. He runs well at Texas now the Fords have been great at mile and a half. I think you'll see a different winner. The possibility of a different winner is a better possibility than another non playoff winner this week. The trucks, though, trucks is out, so. He could be your non playoff winner. I mean, you still have him and Harvick. That aren't in the playoffs anymore now that had not won. So I think that we can look at this that it could continue through. You could have 6 new winners in the playoffs. Well, yeah, so just to be clear, once you're out of the playoffs, you're now a non playoff driver. So your point of Harvard even though is one a couple of times this year, he'd be a non playoff driver. It would be a big situation. Hey, listen. All we got a phone call. I thought we were getting ready to go to break and go to Chris busher but instead we're going to go to Michael. You have a call for us. Go ahead. Hi, guys. Nice to meet you guys. So my question was actually, you guys were just about to go into it, but what do you think, what do you guys think the odds of more winners this year and that's why I'm breaking the record in the season because I feel like this season has been arguably the most competitive season in NASCAR history. You know, people aren't even getting drivers aren't even getting to 20 top tens yet. So I just want to know what you guys think of the odds of a two X and blame in maybe another first time winner coming this year. Thank you guys. Thanks Michael for your question. So let's go into it. What's really the options? I'm writing them down because he said them two X and Blaney. For sure. I don't think Brad winning after what I saw at Bristol or at Talladega now. So I can put Brad K on the list of we're talking about guys that we've seen, like butcher wasn't a surprise. Anyone who says that was a surprise win, I think, is a slap in the face to Scott grazing Chris busher in the improvement they have made this year. I'll throw a McDowell in the mix. They've been fast and we go to the rover. I agree with that. Yeah. So I asked four names right there. I could get money. For sure. Okay, I'll let the two of you laugh at me this time because it was Marty and Kyle that last one I said back in May that we would have 16 winners before we finish the regular season. So now I'm just telling you, we're going to have 20, if not 21. Stenhouse? In this. This is another one. So there's a whole list of drivers that are very, very capable. We're going to go to the brink on this thought too. I actually the one rule change and I'm not a big guy in rule changes, is I think everybody that makes everybody that wins a race, regardless if it's 16 or more, should all be in the playoffs. Yeah, so we'll get over 16 winners. Let's go in. Well, listen, if you

"Mean, revenge is a dish best served cold, right? And I think the fact that Richard Childress told Tyler Reddick an hour before this announcement, like, hey, by the way, you're not going to get your crew chief anymore. You're not going to get the 8 car that's going to Kyle Busch. I think that that had to be somewhat satisfying for Richard tourists, given the way that Tyler Reddick told the team about an hour before he went to 23 11 racing in 2024 before he made that announcement, he told RCR, hey, this is happening. I think there was some of that here at play. Well, I think it was all very well calculated and with Randall's contract going beyond this year. I mean, they had his rights and they could move him wherever they wanted to. And I'm sure if you're Randall Burnett, you're not going to turn that down. The opportunity to work with a two time Cup Series champion. All right, let's get some of your phone calls at 8 four four NASCAR NBC. We'll start with Anthony in Virginia. How you doing, Anthony? What's on your mind? I'm doing good. And I am not sure if Kyle Busch will be very good at RCR. I think it's very possible, but I'm wondering if you think that it's possible that he could be as good as Dan Hart was. Wow. I don't know. That would be pretty high praise. Nate, what do you think? That's pretty lofty goals. That's funny 'cause Kim and I were just talking about this on the podcast as well and that I think generally people shy away from making driver comparisons to Dale Earnhardt because he's a first ballot first class NASCAR Hall of Fame marries, the 7 time champion, he's the intimidator. But I think if there's a driver who would almost embrace that burden and shoulder that weight, I think Kyle Busch might be in that conversation because I think in many ways that he's similar to Earnhardt and that he doesn't mind being the villain and wearing the black hat. He likes the whole concept of it doesn't matter if they like you or hate you as long as they're cheering. I think Kyle Busch is very much in that vein. Now the Anthony's point like, can he be a successful as Earnhardt off the bat? I mean at Richard child just racing and maybe bring them their first championship since Earnhardt won the title and 1994, I think that's the big question. But I think to Kim's point, the next gen car has changed that equation a little bit. Yeah, you're not going to see, I think, dominance from any team, like we've seen in past years, at least not for the first few years of this car. A lot still has to play out. But to Nate's point of comparing the two, look, nobody's going to feel Dale senior's shoes. But if you have to pick a driver in the current active cup field roster, I think the closest one you're going to get is Kyle Busch and a lot of people forget because they have good memories of Dale senior that he was a

"Look at you look at Joseph, for example, right? He has four wins. And I think third or fourth in championships. So it's just crazy. You got to be getting those fourth and 5th place finishes, and that's something that we really haven't been able to achieve a whole lot this year. Okay, in the past, we've seen the IndyCar, this series run in conjunction with the truck series and with others. And then when all of a sudden, it's IndyCar and it's cup. I mean, we were so freaking excited to see you guys at the racetrack with the cup guys. When you ease in there, do you get the itch to move over to the other garage just to try that one time, the cut stuff? You know, I've gotten to pay a lot more attention to what's going on in cups through my relationship with Chase, obviously, both of us being racing guys. But I think dare I say this, but I think that was the only good thing to come out of COVID. You know, I think for so many years, there was this kind of opposing belief that cup and that cup and IndyCar shouldn't be on the same weekend and it'll take away from one or the other and because of all of us we were forced to kind of adapt and try and just get racism and schedule, it made sense. For that merger to happen and here we are three years later, still doing it. So I think it's an amazing event. I'm so happy and honored to be a part of it. And I hope we can do more. I think that you're introducing a fan base to a different to a different style of the sport, whether that's an IndyCar fan watching the Cup race or vice versa. And I think it's a positive for everyone involved. So I as a driver love watching it on Sunday. Watching watching the guys kind of go through the same processes that we do in a very different way. So it is an enjoyment that I get in something I look forward to each year. Yeah, I think we all love the crossover. We certainly love hearing your passion and emotion when talking about it. Before we let you go Alex so this is coming to the end of your 7th season and Andretti. You've got 5 races left at the team before you move to arrow McLaren SP. I know you've got a lot of memories with that team. 2016, Indy 500 win. How do you feel about this closing kick? 'cause again, like we just talked about, you've had your moments, this season. Do you feel like you might be able to close this out at Andretti with maybe one more win before you move on? I really want to. I think we all want to. Michael has given me an amazing opportunity to find a new home in my career 6 years ago in the NTT IndyCar Series. And we definitely had some highlights in that time period. But the last two and a half years haven't met any of our expectations. So the amazing to close the loop with some sort of success story so that we can all kind of part ways with one last fond memory to remember and take with us going into our futures. All right, well, thanks again for joining us on NASCAR American motor mouse. We wish you much luck in trying to get to victory lane this weekend. That Alexander Rossi, when we came back on the other side of the break, NASCAR America motor mouse will talk to another driver who will be racing in Indianapolis this weekend. Parker Kligerman making an Xfinity series start at Indy, there he is. Welcome back. NASCAR America motor mouse joined by Parker Kligerman who won on a road course in the truck series early this season. Gonna take a crack at an Xfinity series car on the road course, this Saturday. So Parker I understand you've already been preparing, simulation, since today, you're feeling good? Yeah, so I've been in Kyle Petty would say it's not a sim because it's been iRacing, but I personally think it's a sim. It's all I got right now. So I've been working on that. Thankfully, iRacing added the Indianapolis road course configuration that we run now. So that's good. And I needed it because of the last time I was on this track was back in 2014 and Indy Lights car when I did a test there. So I needed some help, a refresher, but thankfully, I feel like I've got a lot of laps and started to watch a lot of tape and sort of have the idea of how to get around this place. And I'll need it because it looks like the Xfinity series is absolutely stacked this weekend. Not just because I'm in it. It looks like so many cup drivers obviously want to be in there and while it road course drivers. So it's going to be a very competitive race on Saturday. Look, coming off of a win, how much confidence does that give you though, man? I mean, seriously, I mean, and we talk about it all the time. We talk about momentum for other teams as a driver just for you. And it's a different team, but from a driver's perspective, what does that give you? Man, it's weird. You know this, DJ knows it, but it's like, it just allows you to be so confident in some of the things you're thinking about and how you go about preparing and even just on the same. I'm looking at different corners and I'm thinking, all right, I did that at Mid Ohio, and that worked. All right, so that's the feel I need here. And it just, it confirms things, right? Like it takes away your questioning of like, is that the right way to do it? Should I do it this way? Should I roll this much speed? That sort of thing, and we get, you know, look here at the track on board of Martin Shrek's. This place is difficult, right? You've got huge long, heavy braking zones. This one down to turn one, it's gotta be one of the longest braking zones in NASCAR outside of turn 5 at road America. I mean, they have an 800 board. I don't know a racetrack in America or in the world. That has an 800 braking marker and we use it. I mean, you'll break it to 700 down to first gear. Then you'll get the second, you'll be begging the rear tires throughout the lap to sort of hook up around here,

"To the air and just there's two wildcard races left, right? Before we get to the playoffs, you know, anybody can win Daytona. We've seen it. And as chaotic as the indie road course was last year, I mean, jeez, if you get out of there with the whole car that didn't flip over and catch on fire, I think you've had a pretty good day. So, you know, it's just a wild time in this sport. There's a lot of parity because there's a lot of uncertainty. I think that's a big part of it. You know, we're all still trying to figure this new car out, trying to figure out the setups and how to navigate the rules and NASCAR is doing the same. So you saw a couple of teams that kind of came out of the box a little stronger than others. And now I think you're starting to see the bigger teams catch up and figure out their programs and show their strength. I got to ask you about your pit crew out and they've been sort of maligned all year long. They have only been yours for two weeks, obviously after the swap with bubble Wallace's team. But after the problems that Atlanta, you told me, I didn't get on them. I told them, hey, just stick to the basics. And they deliver two of the best three stops of the entire organization. Everyone on pit road on Sunday. What was the difference you feel like for the group on Sunday to deliver those quick stops? You know, the first time that we got this group together, they had tremendous speed. And there were some hiccups, but I wouldn't say any more hiccups than what we see out of any of the other pairings we've had or even what we see on pit road in general. So what they didn't have was a lot of time working together. And there's a lot of nuances of the movements and of the choreography of the pit stop, no matter which way you run it, where, especially when it happens as fast as it does. You know, you lose sight of how much quicker these stops are than what they were before.

"And that gives me some really good ideas about how this race can be competitive in that it will be competitive. Well, I think certainly Jeff the next gen and the platform that that was built on its model a little bit after a sports car. I think gives NASCAR an avenue to race on a street course like this and it's interesting what you're saying about the layout. I look at the layout and I see a street race and I don't really think about the racing as much as I think about the event. Now I've covered Long Beach. I cover the St. Petersburg covered Nashville last year for IndyCar and that was a huge pop of adrenaline excitement. I think NASCAR was going to feel the same thing with Chicago. They had a mayor at the event yesterday, not the mayor Jeff Burton, but they had mayor Lori Lightfoot. And she was over the moon about having this event in grant park with the Chicago skyline behind the course, you know, right next to the loop, adjacent to Chicago's downtown and this race made the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times. It made the front page the Chicago Tribune. And when NASCAR racer Chicagoland speedway, they had great races, but I don't think they always had that presence. And I think that's what I was really encouraged by with this event to Jeff's point, the clash of the coliseum was proof of concept that NASCAR can race in major metropolitan markets. And now I think we're going to see it next year in Chicago. I'll tell you what, when Bubba Wallace fired up that car to go around the streets of downtown, that was one car, and you could just hear it echo everywhere. You went to college there, Nate. So you know that sports environment, you know, that sports culture. All of this be accepted by everyone in Chicago. And I think when they hear the cars are going to go wow, I had no idea this was coming. I'm also a music aficionado. And it's right next to where they have Lollapalooza every year. In Chicago is known for really big events and big festivals like this right next to Lake Michigan. There are big sports town. They haven't always been known for their racing Jeff. I know, in the times that NASCAR raced in Juliet, I think that there was attention. There was exposure, but I don't think it's the level you're going to get where they're racing a mile away from where soldier field is where the bears play. This is great for the sport. This exposes the drivers, the sponsors, the car owners, the exposes them to more people. Because just out of curiosity, how in the hell is this going to work? Stock cars. Three cores. It exposes the sport to more people. And the race fans that are our current fans are going to turn it on just to see what happens. Even if they think it's going to be a mess, they're going to turn it on to see the mess. So we don't know what's going to happen with the race. I mean, that's the thing. We don't know, but again, I think

"Be talked about. This team wants to be talking about wins. This team wants to be talking about in contention. And I know it's fans. You want to see your driver in that 16. But your driver wants to be in that 16. Knowing he can be number one in that 16. I just talked about this with Nate on his podcast before this show. I think we are all and his fans are all talking about making the playoffs making the playoffs. I don't think they are. Yeah, I think they're talking about how can we win? That's right. To your point. Kevin Harvick is a champion. While of course they want to be in the playoffs and deep down, they kind of know they can point their way in. I think it's a talking point. They don't show up to make the playoffs. Yeah. They showed up in February to win races and be a championship contender. So I've heard it from so many different drivers over the years playoffs. Let's win a race. And I really believe we all play off. Are you kidding me? And you know what? We've seen it from those guys before they can do it. They don't get there. They just got to find that perfect combination. And you know, it's kind of like, you know, now that we saw it happen to Jimmy Johnson, I think it scares us all that we don't know if they ever will again. I don't think we ever could have believed it, and then Jimmy did it, had this cold streak that you're like, oh, wow, it really can happen to someone who is that big. Now, the counter is we've seen cold spells that once they figure it out, bar the door they went on. And you know what? You know where it can happen this weekend at Nashville super speedway. We've got the track present Eric Moses joining us after this break. Don't forget, you can call and join us one 8 four four NASCAR NBC. We will be right back. NASCAR returns to Nashville, Sunday, June 26th on NBC and peacock. Did you guys see that that was Keith urban over there? Thank goodness. I thought it was Blake Shelton for a minute now. I know. He completely lost it. He looks completely lost it, man. Speaking of looking great, we've got Eric Moses track president of Nashville super speedway, joining us. Eric, first off, thank you so much for joining us. Man, we are so excited to come back to Nashville and join you this weekend. Obviously last year was a huge success, can we expect that you guys are really ready for these fans even bigger and better than you were last year? Oh, definitely. Definitely. And so glad to be with you guys so happy to be back on NBC. And looking forward to inviting our fans back to see America's best drivers come back to Nashville. Last year as you guys know, we were planning most of our prep during COVID. And so we had to turn things down a bit. It wasn't kind of the music city representative that you would expect when you come here. This year with COVID, mostly in our rearview mirror, we're going to have a lot more music, a lot more to do see and experience the entire weekend. Hey, listen, a lot of times NASCAR, the Cup Series goes to a new venue. And it's a huge success, and then the second year, it kind of begins to tail off a little bit. I was just in Nashville last week. The coffee country and Cody on the radio, the city of Nashville is more pumped up this year than they were last year than they were last year. What's it like to be in that environment when everybody has bought into it and everybody believes in what you guys are doing? It's great. It's great and it feels great. And to your point, Kyle, I get stopped a lot around town. And thanks by fans for bringing NASCAR and the cut series in particular back to Nashville. People love this sport in our state and certainly in middle Tennessee and they're happy that it's here and they want to help us to keep it here for the indefinite future. Eric, we know there's a great time on Broadway. We've all experienced it. Perhaps sometimes a little more than we should have. I'm excited to see the racetrack as you mentioned post COVID. But I love talking to a track president of the week of 'cause you kind of have that crew chief look..

"And I wouldn't be able to do any of this without him. And I'm glad that we worked together in the past this HR to know how strong this combination can be. So I'm just hopeful that we're just starting to scratch the surface. And we'll keep moving on up. So Kurt as DJ mentioned, right? You've won for four manufacturers 5 different race teams. You find your way to victory lane all the time, but it is the month of May. We are NBC and we're heading up there. I'm actually going up for Indy 500 qualifying this week. You were the last NASCAR star to go up there and give it a shot and I won't lie. I was cheering you on that day. It was an oppressive run inside the top ten. Give us a little insight and what our old buddy Jimmie Johnson's got a face as the 7 time chance starts as any 500. What kind of chance do you give him and what are gonna be his challenges up there at the brickyard open wheel style? Yeah, I'm so happy he's gonna run the 500. The pageantry, the show, the different feel of that racetrack in the month of May is completely different than the brickyard weekend in July or August when NASCAR goes there. So he'll know how to block all that out. He's a 7 time NASCAR champion. He has tons of IndyCar experience now. He's been on an oval and had his best finish in Texas recently. He's ready. He's ready to do it. He's confident and the team is going to guide him through what he needs to do at Indy. But he has years and years of experience at Andy, and that's what I use my foundation. All right, I'm going to go running IndyCar, but I know this track and I feel confident in what I'm doing. Johnson's going to be a step ahead of where I was. All right, I love it. This is a call in show, so I appreciate you joining us, but we got a fan on the phone, Chandler, you're on with Kurt Busch. Thanks, Steve. And Kurt, I hate to tell you this, but I'm a big fan of your brother, Kyle, but I'm also a fan of you, man. Congratulations at Kansas. So Kurt, you know, this year you have now, you know, this year has started off not the way you, Denny and public expected. You guys wrecked a lot in the past couple of weeks, but now you guys are finally winners this year. What are you guys hoping for the for the season later this year? Yeah, I feel top 5s early. I had four top tens. Things were going, but we were piecing those finishes together with straws. Now the Ross speed is starting to show up..

"Have a concern that to your point, right? I have a lot of Moneyball. We're not getting a money ball at that point. Come on. You might get a restart or late something like that, but I believe, to your point, I've seen caution seem to dwindle opportunity seem to dwindle this race is starting to look more and more like NASCAR the past, but I don't know. I don't know. I'm a believer. Moneyball, baby. Let's see. Well, listen, there's a second car at petty GMS, and that is ty Dillon. We're going to get to him in a minute, but first we're going to go to the calls. You're on NASCAR, America, motorboats, Mike. Yeah, I was just wondering with all this talk of four road course races in the playoffs. You were starting a team today. Would you hire a driver, that was way better on the road courses just to guarantee you get into the playoffs. Thank you for taking my call. That's a great question, Mike. I'm going to say that Jeff Burton two years ago saw the schedule and he goes, man, Austin centric is the new man on the steam because AJ armen dinger, like the guys that always ran up front and he would be putting his weight behind. I was waiting for the new car. This is a crazy thing to say, but you know what I've learned is that some are better at road courses than others. But this field and the guys that are in the Cup Series, they're dang good everywhere. Like I don't think so to Mike's point, two separate points. Can we all agree that I don't think there's a non NASCAR road course ringer that could come in and outrun the current NASCAR drivers in their own vehicles? Okay. So if that's the case, I do believe that looking at available drivers and people that move around, road courses, Jeff, I would value more if I was a team president on who I was hiring. I would make sure that you love them. And if you're not great at them, you're willing to admit it and work on being better. Because I think they'll have the talent. It's more of a time and effort. I think that's the key. I think you can't when I started racing, you just did it. You know, you put some work into it, but you couldn't allocate a lot of resources to it, and you just had two races, and it was part of a point system in which it all got melded together. And you just did the best you could do. But you can't do that now. It's way too many in the series. And you can't, you don't have to be the best at it, but you can't be the worst at it either. You got to least be average. You can't be worse than average. And if you are, then you're a liability. Yeah, I don't even think, you know, I think even choosing a driver to say like, oh, they're predominantly good at road courses. Like, to me, that's actually knowing the breadth of talent out there that are able to drive across a numerous different tracks, I just don't think that's a choice that really is even available to you in a lot of respects because or even a smart choice in that sense. When you look at this schedule now in modern day NASCAR, you've got to raise some super speedways, mile and a half's mile ovals, dirt track, road courses. I mean, it's one of the most diverse schedules in all worldwide motor sports. So to be a champion or top level cup driver, you've got to be good at everything. You've got to find a way. There is no write offs now, right? There is no, you just go and do that. It's like, no, no, no. That's a chance. That's an opportunity, and there's so much of it that you've got to just be good at everything. And I think these days, drivers know that when you look at drivers are coming through trucks, through extending, working and manufacturer programs where they're in simulators doing every type of racing. They're driving other types of race cars. You look at William Byron go ahead and driving late models just to get wins. Everyone is learning that you just have to be driving and being good. You have to be good everywhere. You may not have a weakness. You're right, but there is still one name that's not full-time in cup that I think would instantly move the needle on a cup team. I'm there. Hey gentlemen, yeah. I think he's happy to call. I don't think he wants to be a cop. I think if he did, he'd be in college. But I'm just, you know, the magic 8 ball crystal ball, the new manufacturer of the new owner comes in and he has a pile of money and came to me and he said, hey, we're gonna have a four car team. I don't even know if there's an a geometry or a two car T four car team. I'd be like, you need to go find out however much money it takes for you. I think here's why, because he's gonna be in charge of our road course program. Everybody's gonna run what he runs. And if you gave him 7 shots, I feel really good about at least a win out of the 7. I mean, he's just or sex him and he's fine, I'll do it for half what he'll do it for. Two points. Dinger is the one guy that shows up on Saturday Sunday. Part time and he's at the end of all it's unbelievable. I hope, and this is against anybody else, but I hope he can be the full-time driver at colleague next year in that car. I know, because I think that everything that he's done in his career, I think he makes colleague better in the Xfinity series, and I think you're making better in the Cup Series. I just do. I think he's earned it. Yeah. I think he's earned. If he wants it, I think he absolutely. Yeah, I think he's earned it what he's done on the race track. What he's done off the racetrack. I know it's more complicated than that, but I hope if that's what he wants. Yeah, I think you said. But I think it colleague, they're kind of hey, man, like it's grand. I think that is different than some other, some other owners, he couldn't be as comfortable. He couldn't be as happy, but I think in college he could have a good time at the Cup Series. They all have a good time. It's a completely different vibe over there than it is everywhere else. I think it would make a lot of sense for everybody. No, it's quite the identity. Not as agent, by the way. So the answer, Mike's question, I guess the answer is yes, you would pick a driver who's good at road courses. I do. If his name was AJ, almond dinger. All right. Listen, a lot to break down on the playoffs. It's pretty chaotic around the cut line. If you want to see some chaos though, I hope you turned into The Kentucky Derby because Rutledge and our buddy Dale junior, the interviewed some superstars and it went crazy. Dale, I know we've checked everything on our bucket list, but I didn't know there was extras. This is.

"Did a lot of things together and had a ton of fun doing it. You know, Jason ratcliffe was a huge influence in my life. And I worked with him for 5 years at Joe Gibbs Racing and had some success there with him as well. So, but like you said, you can't really, you know, from the first guy that owned your first late model, or the first guy that volunteers time to help you on your late model to the last guy that helped you know, in a way, are all equals because without any of those, you know, your career might look a lot different. Let's grab a couple of phone calls here at 8 four four NASCAR NBC of folks who want to talk to you, Matt. We'll start with NASCAR. NASCAR are you on with Matt Kenseth? Go ahead, bud. Congratulations, Matt, while deserved. You won the first Cup race ever went to Michigan. My question is, if you had a driver from the past that you would have loved to race against, who would it have been? Good question. You know, I think it would be more like what era would you want to race in? I don't know that there was necessarily just a driver that you'd want to just take on that maybe you didn't get to race against. I don't know. That's a tricky question, but I think there's different eras I think it'd be neat to race in different areas of different cars, different racetracks when you look back and you see some of the older race cars, I think it'd be cool to go back and race against those drivers, but go back in time and race those cars against those drivers I think would be would be fun. I think, you know, I probably watched a lot in the 80s. I mean, if I could go back and obviously I was an old enough to drive them, but if you could go back in time and probably race through the mid to late 80s, I always thought that's when I was a kid and really watching the races and really got into it and got into the storylines and they're still unbiased by tires and you can see smoke coming off the tires and it just they're really fun to watch. I thought they were kind of big square boxy cars and bumpers on them still. So if I go back and race anything, it would be against I guess that group in that era. So Matt, I want to ask you, do you see yourself slowing down any time soon? Now that you're a Hall of Famer. I mean, you just ran the Boston Marathon. I hear rumors you might run London in October. And you're running more races this summer. I mean, your schedules as busy now has ever been. Yeah, I don't know. I got to have something to do so. The marathon stuff, I don't know, most people can't figure it out. Sometimes I don't either, but it just kind of it gets me some structure, it gets me something to train for every day. I'm really busy with the kids, a good, busy, you know, driving them around and going to their sports and spending tons of time with them, being part of their daily life, which I'm really thankful that I can do that. Besides that when they're in school, I got other things I like doing and other hobbies and stuff, but really I just need some structure and something competitive to do and to try to push myself to be better and beat my last time or move up in my age group or whatever it might be. So, you know, that kind of keeps me going. So I'm not sure what's next. I'm not a late model race and a couple SRX races just for some fun and see how it goes. Hershel McGregor and his last race at 90. He got a lot of time to go, Matt. Yeah, I'd be pretty happy if I see 90. All right, but hey, from the three of us and everyone here, congratulations. Awesome to see you. We'll see early next year for the induction, okay? All right, sounds great. I sure appreciate you guys. All right, Hall of Famer. Matt Kenseth, maybe the first time he's heard that introduction. And speaking of Hall of Famers, our Hall of Famer, Dale Jarrett will be joining us next. We'll talk about this class and what's up and DJ's like, there's DJ, what's up, man? Talk to you in a minute. Welcome back to motor mouse here is the 2023 class for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Matt Kenseth, first ballot gets in the Hall of Fame. Kirk Shelton in four time Cup Series championship crew chief joins his driver Dale Earnhardt senior in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. "Far as the coliseum that was a parking lot. And it was a great show and a great event, but it was not what we consider or what the Cup Series considers short track racing. I think this is the first one we've seen. We're going to know a lot better. I believe, once we leave Martinsville, Bristol is not going to give us that show because it caused a dirt, but I think we'll know a lot more after you leave Martinsville. We just talked for a while on the podcast DJ, which I encourage people to check out later. This evening. And you said Martinsville could be as physical and as rough as it's ever been with the next gen. I think it really can. I think because of the way these cars are going to drive and how tough these bodies are. Before you had to kind of protect a little bit, I'm not knocking the fenders off of it, and although we've seen fender less cars win, races up there. But I think that it's just going to be more aggressive. Plus the brakes. I mean, they're going to be further into the corner down the straightaway before they start breaking now, carrying that speed in there. I think this gets very physical Saturday night for sure. Yeah, listen, I agree. We already hear from these drivers, how physical it is to drive these cars. Martinsville was already physical. If you go back in time through the 60, 70s, 80s and 90s, there's plenty of photos of drivers laying on the asphalt right beside their car when the day is over with taking oxygen and getting water to pour it on them. These cars are a little bit warmer. We've already heard that. We know these guys are a lot more aggressive. When you've got a jam that break and we start talking driving ten or 15 feet, just farther into the corner and putting that pressure on those bigger brakes. Listen, you're going to wear that leg out. That leg is going to be worn out when the day is over. And as DJ said on the NASCAR NBC podcast, they'll be available later. No more wheel hop. So it essentially just changes how aggressive you can be. Yeah, just driving to see God. That's it, man. That's what you do. They're just going to drive into the corner. We're going to see these guys drive and listen, there used to be a guy and my man Dale Jarrett raced against him. We all raced against him. Sam art. And he run those B and R motors up there, Martinsville. He had drive that thing and park it in the middle of the corner and beat you 6 car lengths down the street and that's kind of the way this race could be. Park in the middle of the corner and take off because you're going to be able to modulate that break and control that pack behind you because you've got so much break. You don't have to worry about being off of it. Okay, we got about a minute left. Any predictions for Saturday night? I think that we're going to see somebody over 31 again. Oh, yeah. That's a good one. I predict the train goes by the racetrack at least one time here and of course to the right. Of course. That's my only prediction for you. I like that prediction by any of the Hall of Fame producers we've had. All right, this week in motor sports coming up, we've got Ryan Blaney on motormouth, Wednesday, 6 p.m. eastern on peacock. So definitely tune back in for that. And on the Dale junior download, you don't want to miss this. Robert Wiccans, Thursday, 6 p.m. eastern on peacock. "He's on the ballot for the second consecutive year. Yes. And listen, we can take, you know, you take Burton, you take kenza. You take a lot of these guys that are, they're just a mainstay. They're steady. They've done it. They've done so much on the racetrack. The thing about what Jeff's done off the racetrack to think about how he has been a leader in that garage area. For the Cup Series and now with the new driver's council, think about what he's doing here. Think about coming into your living room every Sunday on NBC sports and explaining it to you. I think for me, Jeff falls in that mini Parsons category, where he's just been the every man to everybody. Just that kind of gossip for sure. Yeah. No doubt. Don't come at me with that he didn't win that cooked championship. He's made a huge, huge difference. He is Hall of Fame driver in a Hall of Fame person. Yeah. Well, I'll just ask you, DJ. I mean, you're in the Hall of Fame. You're a NASCAR analyst, but you won the championship. I mean, Kyle just said it, Jeff Burton is now entered this second phase of his career. How much do you think that helps in terms of your candidacy in his candidate? It's not just about your driving career. We have people in there that never drove a lap. What difference did you make in the sport? And Jeff Burton has made a huge difference in a lot of ways in this sport and continues to this day to do that. Yes. He is certainly a candidate and a person that driver, but more as a person than anything else, because his driving credentials are there. That's great. But he's done so much more than that that you have to be considered. Yeah, and you look at everybody that's in the Hall of Fame, from the very first year, from Dale's group, all the way through. Those drivers not only performed, or those people, not only performed on the race track around the race track through the racetrack, but they moved the sport forward. They moved the sport to a different place. And we can go back through the whole thing, but Jeff Burton ticks that box every single time to move in the sport forward. All right, one of ten drivers on the modern era ballot Jeff Burton, two of them will be chosen for the 2023 NASCAR Hall of Fame. "Races and ask our team owner chip said today that it reminds him a lot of when he called felix bodice twenty years ago about getting involved in nascar so it is generational here and it is a bit of a changing of the guard in nascar team ownership. But it's not as nascar being left in a bad place even though ganassi is such an iconic name and other arenas of motor sport like you mentioned imsa an indycar multiple indy five hundred winners and championships chip ganassi still is exiting nascar at a time when they got michael jordan. They've got hit pitfall They've got guys. Like justin marks and matt colleague and brad kazlauskiene lousy and jeff gordon kind of transitioning into new areas of ownership and management. So a lot of good things happening for nascar right now even with chip ganassi's exit and i think tenacity would agree with that. Know i look at. I look at it. It's a it's a huge. We talked charters. We can talk all we can talk a lot of the ripple effect for me. It's expansion for me. It's growth in our for me. It's movement in the sport. It's an owner. That's joining the club under fifty years old. You know what. I mean and is expanding. I mean we've got a lot of eighty year old. Let's be honest about it. Okay if we're going to expand if we're going to grow if we're going to expand and grab those new ideas it has to be those youthful owners. Those guys think outside the box justin marks is that guy bringing pit bull along that got denny hamlin. Is that michael jordan is. There's so many people calling racing got. Yeah we can put them in. So i think it is a huge day for the sport from how it's perceived to the outside world so a huge day for ownership but i don't think we want this announcement to overshadow the weekend upon. No we have seen xfinity series racing and road america for eleven years. Racing's been great. The fan base is outrageous and now that outrageous rowdy spectacular constant crowds with staten. Crass is getting the cup series handicap of for me. What are we gonna see. We got rain mesic. Coda forget that one or back. The road course racing. Who you like. This was open. Connor was going to give me a tip man. I throw me a bone here. Throw me something. You don't want golly man. I you just hate to go against those those henrik card. I'm gonna go with william byron. "I'm sure and i respect the heck out of that guy and and just marks as well all right. So let's you've driven xfinity cars and trucks. You know what the cop cars are. They're going to road america. What as a fan can we expect. What what do we need to look for up there. You know the heavy cars. You know what we're going to be the cool place. Where are they going to be the trouble spots. We're going to be the places that we need to watch for as we watch the cup cars run here for the very first time any carbon. They're actually do have some experience in in that type of car there. So it's honestly something where i think you can expect a lot of side by side racing but the track is very narrow. It's it's something that i think will affect where people wanna go. That's the straits are so long that have guys too wide already or you're gonna go. Are you gonna use the grass. I mean when i raised there and skip barbara series. When i was fifteen we did pass able in the grass there because it was a little bit too narrow so i think there's there's so many things to do there. It's all about the high speed corners as well. Don't make a mistake in the kink if guys make a mistake in the cake that's a big issue but also you're gonna put yourself in a bad position into canada corner there at the end of that straight so. I think it's going to be a great race for the cup cars. I think it's going to be something that people have been looking forward to. I think the crowd is going to really love it. And i mean i can promise you that. I actually don't know what time the race is. I plan on watching myself. Because i assume it's not the same time as ours now. It's right after a full day of racing on. Nbc indycars noon middle high. When that's over. Go back to the fridge. Refresher beverage come right back nascar. In the afternoon i appreciate. I've never been a road. America so i have a page after that bringing down so when i get up in the booth. I sound like the kink on the backstretch. Candida corner the carousel. I'm starting to get some of the all the all the different corners and stuff but we also found a gym a complete gem of tile painting.
