"Home and it sounds great. And the strange thing about artifacts and crazy stuff that's done is after a while it wears really thin. And it becomes irritating, or anything else. And someone says to me the other day, we were listening to the products they went. They sound like Sonos speakers. And I was like, well, that's interesting. From my point of view, I don't try and give us a sound. And I said, what does that mean? And he went, sounds musical. And I was like, great. That's what it should be. And so we are doing a lot of stuff under the bonnet, and we really are, you know, it's a bit like fighter jets, they'd probably fall out of the air for the DSP we're using. But I don't want to, you don't want people to hear that. You don't want people to want to hear a song. Very subtly lit a trap for you, but excessive processing. Because spatial audio is a lot of processing to make that work. And so when you think about the arrow 100, it does not have any spatial features. It doesn't have the height channels. So you're saying there is processing happening inside of it. Yeah, of course, because we're doing for a start we are. We're trying to create a bigger sound than the box is. We're trying to defy physics all of the time at source. That's what we're trying to do. We're not doing any tricks with phase, but we are there are slight delay going on there to create a stereo spread at the high frequencies. You have to do that. At the same time, the most the key thing for me in this actually, what we worked really hard on the 100 was, we could make the product a lot wider and more spatial than it is. But the detriment of that is voices, the human voice doesn't sound as good. Because when your listeners listen to music, we mix music and stereo and equal left and right is mono, and that's generally where the voice lies and that's the songs you love. If you pull it apart too much, it can sound phasia can sound weird, and so it's that argument processing over reality. Of course, as processing, but the key thing is that it has to sound natural. And that's done by human hair. You can't measure natural, weirdly enough. Things can measure completely flat in a room and then sound strange. I feel like I'm so tempted to just immediately start talking about spatial light. But I want to finish talking about the air 100. Because to me, the argument with spatial audio is when it's done incorrectly or done poorly, you actually lose a lot of that impact. You spread everything out to too many channels. And everything is the same as you play around with stereo too much. If you like, we don't spatialize stereo. Because again, it feels it's a bit like smashing some of the toffee hammer. Everything flies everywhere and you're left with no middle. It's impact like just drums and vocals. In its fine actually, if it's a spatial audio tracker, it's ambient tracking to it if you're all bets are off in some sense a classical music that helps. But generally like most pop music or hip hop or R&B is like it needs that. It needs that dry binder. And it's really important to mention we have this sort of team of checks and balance and we have the sound board, which we run where Mary Mary quin is just one three Grammy Awards. He's not one 17 Grammy Awards. And so he mixes lizzo. It's a similar will play lizzo on an era 100 and if it doesn't sound right. When our job isn't done, you know, it's that important thing. It's that scalability. You have to be honest. You have to be honest about why you're making kind of like this Napoleon complex or a little speaker going wait a second. I beat myself through walls. So you just have to make the best. You have to be honest. And then that becomes that honesty translates into your home and you enjoy listening to it. But I think that honesty is a key and it sounds somewhat cliche, but I think to Joel's point about the sound board and all the people that we have on it and all the people in Giles network, we have them listen to these speakers and the mixes that they've done, whether it's the 100 or 300 to say, does this sound as you intended it, right? And actually go through that. I don't know another company that spends the amount of time we do going through that work on the way to actually launching a product. And it's so important to making sure that we're getting it right. Yeah. So the error 100 direct replacement you're getting itchy with the Sonos one is one very popular. And as multiple configurations, are you going to do an arrow 100 SO without the microphones? You know, we're always considering what customers will want in that front. So we'll see what kind of feedback we get at this point. Are you leaving the one SL in the lineup? We are. For now. And then I noticed we talked about Alexa a bunch of times today. Does it support Google Assistant as well? Google Assistant has changed the way that they're implementing it for third parties. And so that's changed so at this point, it won't support Google Assistant. Our existing products that support Google Assistant will continue to, but 103 hundred will not. Is that because Google made a change or is it litigation between you? There's nothing to do with the ongoing litigation. As you and I have talked about before, YouTube music, all the different aspects, Google Assistant, the teams, continue to work pretty constructively. But they did make a change in terms of how they do Google Assistant on third party products. And it's a pretty big engineering lift for us. And the reality is right now, we'd like to see it back on the platform, but people are using voice for music, timers, and weather. As they have for many years, as you know, and we're well covered with what we have with us on this voice control and Alexa. So we feel pretty good about where we are with these products. Did you assemble a task force to be like, all right, we need Bing to insult people directly from our speakers. Just let it go crazy. Chad GBT is the future. Just let people talk to the AI. We'll let you sort it all out. And then we'll figure out how we can do some sort of weird code red exercise. We will focus on creating great speakers that people can listen to amazing music on. AI assistant that reads all of tumblr and says your music tastes the shit is not coming. Because there are people that would buy that product specifically. Yeah. There was like this song sucks. There's a better version of this song. It's the original. Well, our friends at Spotify did introduce DJ today and AI DJ if you saw that. This is the future. You start listening to an album and it's like, I like the second album better.

"There you can start. To make it feel better 99 to 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 11 good night everybody. Thank you very much. So this is the Napoleon complex thing. It was Napoleon short by I don't think he orders of his day is that I think that's a misconception. They don't totally know, I don't think. I thought he said it was like 5, 6 or something, which was. And it's believed that Hitler was between 5, 6 to 5 9. They don't totally know, but Charles De Gaulle was what 7 four. 7. He had a killer three pointer. That's when the French basketball team introduced in the Olympics. Christie, what are you? 5 two? 5, zero. 5 zero. Yeah. For now. Thanks. Oh yeah, you'll get hunched. 11, 14. Four 8. I think my grandmother was four 8 when she passed away. I'm crying about that at all. Yeah. Tiny little thing weighed about 80 pounds. Okay. Now what is that? Is there a that's the opposite of trauma dumping here inspiring trauma something? I'm drama causing troll costs. That's interesting. Here comes old trauma causer. Oh boy. Rex killed a lot of people though. Get outta here, trauma caused early. You're a trauma instigator. How could you have you ever noticed that you used the term gentle giant? Yes. I never liked gentle shrimp. You hear the opposite though, like a short guy like, oh, he's a real firecracker. So the assumption is, if you're big, you're going to be, you know, that's interesting. You ever feel psychopathic? Christy? No. Oh, I bet you're a psycho in the sack. Oh, God. Okay. No, no, I'm not done talking about this. Tell me about it. That's a telepath. We have a special request here because once again ace Cosby, our engineer here is on a special diet in the month of March. Once again, this is day. Day one. Pizza for breakfast, pizza for lunch pizza for dinner. And

"Oh, and we were also talking about corsage another film that will be competing in international feature. It's Austrian stars Vicky kreps, and it's about an Austrian Empress, and this is kind of where my understanding of what's happening in Europe from I would say roughly 18 60 to 1914 falls apart. You know, it's like you got the Habsburgs, but then you got the Kaiser. I just like, I don't know. I can't keep all of these people straight. So then I was curious how Napoleon comes into the mix and it turns out that Napoleon died before all of this just so you know Sean and I had a conversation about it. Napoleon died? He died before all this. It was not a 1512 as discussed at dinner. It was 1821. It was really funny. And Eileen was like, is that real? Did he get it right? But some of the power vacuum that was created in the wake of his death in France's military triumphs and then lack of triumphs. Creates some of the situations that ultimately lead to World War I. I think I got to be honest, I could use Wikipedia being like a little more directly. I don't think that's what this movie is going to be about. No, I don't either. I think it'll probably be about him having a Napoleon complex and being power hungry and Vanessa Kirby just absolutely going to be in a smoke show. Last time Joaquin Phoenix appeared in a Ridley Scott film, it was Gladiator. Yeah. And he was Commodus and he gave the epic thumbs down. Also notable, Ridley Scott currently casting Gladiator two. Sick. Are you aware of that? Yeah. Who should be in Austin butler? Should he be in Gladiator two? Oh, he would be good. Good work. What is the story of Gladiator Zendaya? I want to see her in there too. I don't know what it is. Well, what I want to see is the Nick Cave script where maximus goes to hell. Oh. Yeah. That would be different. I had just assumed there would be a second Gladiator. Reasonable. Reasonable take. Okay. My number 5 is I'm just going to slot this in 'cause you stole a movie for me that was in my number 5 slot. I had it, you took it. I took it back. We've been bartering in brokering here on the show. In fact,

"Who are not a part of the United States? Yo, Sam, Bucky, go get them. And I would love to see that, but I think my strategy is I want you to build up the teams. Maybe there's a West Coast Avengers team. Maybe like Fantastic Four, where do they fall on this? I want everything funneled before we get to secret wars. I want you to break the MCU up, so heroes for this, the X-Men, villains, The Avengers, director, I'm going I think I want ifa mcardle who directed half of severance because I want what severance does with creating a world that's similar to our own, but is a little weirder. It has different rules, visually it looks striking and that's what I think you need for like an island full of X-Men being like, this is kind of like our world but different. They have different laws, different rules throughout this movie you're learning them. And I only pick two stars. The rest of them are negotiable. But white boy of the summer has Wolverine, Jeremy Allen white, a lot of fans want it now. Just little short demon. Like little short demon who was like sexy enough to give you the energy of like, oh no, he has a shot with Jean. Like he has a shot with Jean. I think Jeremy Allen white has that sense of like a Napoleon complex where there's always something in him just ready to explode. Am I wrong with that? I like this a lot. As I was watching the bear, which of course Jeremy Allen white is the star of great, great recap of that series with you and Joanne on the prestige TV podcast if anybody hasn't heard it. When Jeremy Allen white's hair gets long, gets long in the same way that my hair gets long, which is the same way that Wolverine's hair gets long, which is to say that it grows out. It grows to the sides and up. Did you just like casually compare yourself to Wolverine? Is that what happened here? In only one way and that way is that I am indestructible. No, I noticed as I was watching the bear. I'm like, oh wow, Jeremy Allen white's hair has the same physical properties of mine, which is why my hair is never longer than it is right now. Because it looks preposterous, but in the case of wolvey, this is what you need. Yeah. You need that, what is that like that anvil head? To be perfect. That feige famously was just like, no, it needs to be higher. Like, you don't have to do that with Alan white. You know what I mean? It's naturally, I know. It's a great call. I love it. What do you think, Robert? For my oh wait, rob, tell me, 'cause wait. Rob, before you go. Yeah. Let me pitch you on my cyclops, okay? Please, I want to hear, I want to hear about the interplay between these two because that's got to be the core of the movie, right? I need somebody who has the sex appeal with someone who's like a dick and you realize why people follow him, but everybody behind his back is like talk. I hate this guy. And I was like, who could it be? Who could it be? I also need someone who's like sexually could do sexually repressed, really, really well. You're so into cyclops is sex life. Yeah, all right, let's be clear, Chris claremount was into cyclops. It's true of life. So like, come on, I'm not the first one. I'm going Jacob Elordi from euphoria. He plays Nate, who is just so hateable. And cyclops is just he has the hateable face. You're just like, why is gene with him?

"Thousand faces, but just like that notion of the hero, and then of course we've seen that show up in many different arts and culture type things like, for example, in Star Wars where George Lucas drew on that for the figure of Luke in the very first Star Wars movie and how he starts out as sort of like a humble water moisture farmer on a desert planet and then apparently George Lucas had conversation with Joseph Campbell in crafting some of these figures, you know. Yeah, right. So he was like drew on that explicitly in developing the figure of Luke and then lose finds out all this stuff about his lineage and that goes on to be the hero and save the day so to speak and it's funny actually because I was looking through my files and the actor who even played blue Mark Hamill has Jupiter in Aries, which is kind of funny, funny placement down there. Yeah, I love it when that happens. When the person who's acting the part, we've seen this before. I think Alex Chernobyl just wrote a book on people who play parts that there chart actually supports. So yeah, which is a major phenomenon. So when it comes to that, that's one of the highest expressions of the Ares archetype I feel like is the hero. Somebody that will fight and defend somebody, especially for a cause or for a reason or will defend the downtrodden or who will fight and sort of strike out and do what's right, even if it means going it alone and encountering hardships or difficulties in order to achieve or defend that which needs to be defended. Yeah. Yeah, all of that true. And I don't know if you mentioned the fact that Joseph Campbell was not only an Aries, but had mercury Jupiter and Mars all in Ares too, just as a point of reference. Yes, that's hugely important. You mentioned his chart and put him in our notes, and I think that's amazing that he had an area's stallion, so he had lever rising, and he had sun at 5 mercury at 6 Jupiter at 6 descendant to 20 in Mars at 21, all in Aries, so the guy that developed this notion or had this observation about the hero's journey himself had a huge number of placements in areas which in the cool thing about this is not just that he had the Mars and Ares he went on the journey himself. Early on in life, he went and went off into a cabin up in the adirondack mountains in New York, people don't know that the first book that he wrote was a book called a skeleton key to finnegan's wake, which anyone who has any literary orientation knows as a book that was so complicated that most people just said, this is gobbledygook, it's trash. It doesn't mean anything. And Joseph Campbell actually wrote a book that deciphers it like page by page by page, but he did it by going away and becoming a recluse and really going on his own journey and what's fascinating about his chart is that the sun mercury and Jupiter are all within almost a quarter of a degree. They're like, they're that close. They are, it's actually, I think, 17 minutes of orb from the sun to mercury to Jupiter. And they're in this 6th house. This was his work. They're trying the moon in Leo in the tenth house, so he puts on the show, the huge demand with the thousand faces and the PBS specials that he's known for. But it's the sun and mercury communication and then Jupiter the philosophy, but all in Ares. He made all this stuff up. No one had done this work before ever. That's a pioneer. Right. For sure. So this is all sort of positive version. We're going to go back and forth because no sign and no placement is either all positive or all negative and either it can express in either constructive or destructive ways and people can take it in different directions or even somewhere in between. It has to do with the person's own choices. It has to do with the environment that they grew up in. It has to do with and people can change and manifest different versions of the archetype at different times throughout their life and can sometimes be not always just one version or another. But so that said, you know, we have the highest expression of let's say the hero's journey or the hero archetype with Ares, but then also there can be the fighter or the military figure or there can be the person that is instigating things that is not the hero, but is like, let's say like the villain or the person that's constantly starting the fights with. The villain or the bully even the insecure person who is coming out of no strength and all and then overcompensating for it and acting tough because of the fear of what it might be if people realized what a wimp or he or she was. Yeah, something that came to mind yesterday when I was writing that significations when it gets to that area was the notion of the Napoleon complex or the notion of somebody that has like an insecurity about something with them and in order to hide or make up for that. They overcompensate by being overly aggressive or bossy or something like that. Exactly, exactly. Yeah. Yes, so that can be an issue to sort of pay attention to or a weakness or a sort of blind spot in some instances is that sometimes there can be a sort of an insecurity that's masked or covered by a sort of aggressiveness or a tendency to fight or a tendency to try to dominate in some sense. Or even the notion of an Aries being pushy, not even necessarily physically, but Ares, you know, one of the interesting things about Ares is that as the baby of the zodiac, it is unconscious in a very odd way. It's unconscious like two planets in conjunction have no perspective on one another. There's not an awareness because they're so close together. There is an unconsciousness to it. And the baby who can be amused by their fingers and toes for hours has no idea that the fingers and toes are part of their own being, they're like everything in the universe is part of the self, whether it's part of the self or not. And here in is an interesting thing about Ares selfishness versus selflessness. Because theoretically an Ares would be very selfish. Selfish because Ares is the sign of the self. It's the first sign. It's the aime mine. It's the baby who doesn't know that anyone else has any needs. So therefore it takes care of its own needs. But when you look at the developed Ares, you realize that they've included in their sense of self. Their loved ones, their children, their parents, their family, their country, you know, some sense of a wider concept. So that it's, in some ways, they're still being selfish, but the self is so expanded that it becomes the Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Declaration of Independence. I mean, he can't make that kind of stuff up. Ares is also the sign of freedom and independence. And you have someone like Jefferson who wrote that in some ways because of his selfishness of wanting to declare his independence, but he projects it out to a larger, wider audience that turns that selfishness into a form of selflessness. Just an interesting tweak. Yeah, like that you mentioned that independence is being a really strong and important areas keyword, as well as related ones like autonomy and having self autonomy wanting to be unencumbered by other people or act on their own or being self sufficient is another area's keyword that's very complex. Yeah, and that's something that you see in people often develop over time. You see the youthful Aries like a ram being part of a family or a pack or a group and then as the ram grows older and learns survival, then.

is at the pump because here in Nebraska Kansas Iowa and Missouri some of the largest producers in their reducing more of it now instead for food for ethanol fuel and we've been burning that for the last two decades and it's worked effectively So in other words we're making our own fuel and it's been working the point for the last couple of years It was low until this deal with Russia now with this invasion and I don't understand why that there are supply chain problems that have arisen number one and number two even ethanol is not mostly alcohol ethanol is mostly gasoline with the additives alcohol additives added Canon council bluster Nebraska good evening Thanks for taking my call Jim I got to know what might be conspiracy theory Simple man that doesn't get information 24/7 But I get a couple hours at the end of every day So most of my information comes from you and so my question is I haven't heard anybody ask a question like this But if our president and his son are up to their ears or corruption and the leader of Ukraine presidential is part of that problem and Putin has been a middleman and politics in America for almost a generation Well Putin is not a middleman in politics in America That would be a vast overreach Putin as the gadfly an irritant and while there is certainly considerable evidence to indicate Biden family corruption both in Ukraine and in China but there's no indication the candidate that has anything to do with the current conflict which is simply a Vladimir Putin wanting to feel nice and safe and secure at night because he's very upset that the western powers have designs on Russia despite the fact that in the entire existence of NATO 73 years we have never attacked either the Soviet Union or its client states in the Warsaw Pact one time Sandra and Dothan Alabama now good evening Hey good evening I didn't hear your program tonight and so just recently I tuned in So I've got a couple questions for you One is could it possibly happen that we will end up with a lot of refugees from the Ukraine since our troops are over in Poland help them with the refugees now And then another question is this with the possibility be that the United States will end up rebuilding the Ukraine So that's my question for you Okay well number one the refugees I guess it's possible my guess is most of the refugees would probably be somewhere in Europe but that's only speculation on my part We really don't know in terms of rebuilding No that's the Russians are taking it over The last thing they want is any American interference with that noise The Russians broke it The Russians are going to have to fix it One 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6 and is Brad and Dallas good evening Sir pleasure talking to you Thank you I'm curious Putin is like an Napoleon complex He's no better than Adolf Hitler and a leader of North Korea right now Why has there not ever been a contract put out to take him out A very good question Well for one thing I suppose that there's probably a reluctance on the part of world leaders to open the door to that kind of behavior and make themselves vulnerable and two Vladimir Putin is shall we say extremely well protected Sharon and crane Missouri hello Sharon Hello Jim And first of all I need to apologize for my rent earlier this week Oh I don't recall either needed an apology but whatever This has been a real hard week for everybody to deal with Yes I am I am being told by the left and the liberals in this country now that it is my duty to get behind President Biden because he's being so brave and standing up to Russia And it is my duty to support him in his policies My hair is no longer present because it's burnt completely up I do my duty as a citizen of this country because I vote I show up for jury duty I pay my taxes I'll pay the loss But where were those people in the last four years supporting the president that I voted for They were not available because they didn't support him Now you have a duty They have no duties whatsoever Well I am really tired of them and I know it doesn't mean it would be to them but I'm not the only person on here who is a quote unquote common person not a person who is a pearl wearer and I did not go to the best schools in this country but I get a better education listening to your show on a nightly basis and I am constantly amazed at the intelligence of the people that call into your show and the quality of the guests Well I'm certainly impressed by them I don't guess I'm amazed that I am impressed yes Thank you very much Thank you I'm going to get my master's degree and it's going to be because of you Well I'm glad to hear that Sharon Thank you very much I will treat Biden as I've treated other presidents I'll support him when I think he's right and I will oppose you when I think he's wrong I think his approach regarding sanctions is generally a good approach I don't think he's doing enough and hasn't done it soon enough but and certainly the posture of weakness that he is portrayed starting with Afghanistan and going in a lot of other directions certainly I think opened the door for Putin to think he could get away with this So I would oppose him there Steven Atlanta hello Steve Mister bohannon it's such a pleasure to talk on your show and thank you so much for providing all of us a forum to discuss these current topics during these strange times I love how that last caller paints everybody on one side with such a broad brush That's an issue on both sides I support any president when he does what I agree with and I think is right And I try not to paint everybody with a broad brush and I think she's a little too angry anyhow I remember the last president but enough to this guy Putin and I think that's a mutual admiration on their parts for the kind of bully side a half I also think Joe Biden's a fool and the way he's behaving But I remember Trump butting up to this guy and being pally with him and how weird that felt So I think it's less of a weak policy with Mexico's border More so that he didn't want to embarrass his buddy on his watch And right now I'm really scared about all of this Thank you so much Thank you for your thoughts I would note before we pause briefly and come back with more calls Yes Donald Trump has had some things to say Rhapsodizing about his relationship with Putin he liked me I liked him He's praised him as a man of charm a lot of pride who loves his country blah blah blah And a strong individual That particularly rubs me the wrong way Donald Trump well it's not the first time or the only example that he needs to think before he blurts And his praise of Vladimir Putin was ill placed ill placed I mean I'm sure Hitler could be charming too but that hardly is.

"Guy who's been fired from his law firm with a Napoleon complex is now currently attacking me in my state saying that I am incapable of holding office because of the Fourteenth Amendment Something that hasn't been used since the Civil War on the reconstruction era And so now they've filed with the Fourteenth Amendment with the North Carolina board of elections and it's probably going to go to the North Carolina Supreme Court which is a very liberal haven for the Democrats to try and keep me off the ballot Just because it hasn't been used since the Civil War doesn't mean it's still not needed Right That's exactly because we haven't had traders like you before Yeah Dana I don't know what to say They're all going to run the same play They're never going to say they lost an election again they're going to threaten violence if things don't go their way in elections He said oh the you should be able to let fair and free and fairly And then he said all the partisan stuff out loud He's like we're taking it to a court It's a Trump elected judge so we do believe that they're no longer partisans So they'll come out in our favor Well I don't think that's what judges are supposed to be but Madison Cawthorn should believe they were placed in there to push his agenda forward Yeah Yeah They politicized everything You're right from the Supreme Court on down COVID It's just a okay I hope it can come to you Totally That'd be great By the way speaking of COVID real quick I just wanted to finish this Michael hill sick piece And again listen to obsessed interview with Michael sick today on sexy liberal dot com This is just how dangerous this is Dana Hill took great Mars started that the figures on total COVID deaths in the U.S. now approaching 900,000 are squishy This is a wholly ignorant and irresponsible stab at making the pandemic look less devastating than it is Morrow is the entire country and apology I mean in listening to various experts data we are at an undercount Absolutely We are probably more like a million and a half but you have to also those people that went to the hospital and they were turned away because either they weren't sick enough so they died at home Right They weren't tested positive and they ended up dying from COVID related things There's the numbers are probably much much higher Yeah But anyway we can sooner or later we'll have to we will have ways to deal with COVID as if it's another endemic disease like the flu But we're not there yet If you doubt it ask your nearest ER doctor So it's just the danger of misinformation is I feel like here's the other thing we were talking about the truckers So this is supposed to be in Canada and anti vaccine mandate thing But there's Nazi flags and confederate flags and Trump flags and you know and this happens it seems like with every quote unquote right-wing cause There were QAnon flags There as well Right And I was just this latest story A Michigan man who murdered his wife last year says kuhnen members sent him messages on his tablet device saying she was a CIA asset involved in sex trafficking ring He also investigators he had a neuro link implanted in his brain that allowed other people to read his thoughts He also said President Biden had twins a daughter and a son and that the son had a sex change and that's who his wife was I mean I keep saying we have a craziness problem in this country And this is apparently the 6th murder that has been tied to the QAnon conspiracy theory which that fact entire statement you just gave is horrifying This is absolutely a mental health issue in this country And I know that we focus on different things But when you have a cult that is so easily to believe conspiracy theories and lies and quote unquote misinformation That's not just a lack of education These are people that are being brainwashed We were saying Jen Psaki had to take time yesterday to say President Biden is not giving out free crack pipes That's started somewhere in some right-wing fever swamp I mean I saw it on Twitter I was like what Yeah Anyway she had to talk about the blockade yesterday Jen Psaki yesterday Yes And Jen Psaki yesterday We're very focused on this The president is focused on this And we are working very closely with ten first Here we go Poses a rest to supply chains for the auto industry because the bridge is a key conduit for motor vehicles components and parts and delays risk disrupting auto production We are in close contact We've been doing a great deal of work on this leisure with Randall or homelands create adviser convened a meeting just today wearing very close contact and coordination with the custom and border protection team and Canadian counterparts Michigan governor Whitmer and "Into another edition of mystery create. I'm chris wittingham. Joined this week by tom haberstroh. Who is going to present. What is now. We theme here. Metal arc media at lebatardshow friends. Which is he's kind of pieces. These essays that are built up by immensely talented roster of reporters writers broadcasters. You've heard from kate fagan. You've heard from howard. Brian and you've heard from time haberstroh as well throughout the nba playoffs. And you want to close with one more piece from tom and not only has gone and done like a whole written thing. There's guests in this. This is like a full on reported piece. And tom will welcome you in now. I'm sensing a theme here because the last one you did was on chris. Paul and this one is also about chris paul now he happens to be going very far in the nba playoffs. But is there. Perhaps a special connection between the two of you. We went to college together. It's a small school. So you kinda wake. Forest university is like the second smallest d one school in america and so it kind of feels like high school. Sometimes when you're a student there. I've actually been to wake forest before. I visited the campus before. I love wake forest. Isn't it beautiful camps. Incredible one of my favorite stops in the acc. I probably went to like half the schools in my travels with university of miami. One of the best. I definitely recommend it. Yeah one of the saddest days of me. Being students was seeing chris. Paul like into campus with a brand new car because you know what that meant. He was going to the nba time. And so it's always been a special place in my heart is understanding. You know what happened after that. Is chris paul announces. He's going to the nba draft. He foregoes his junior and senior year. And he doesn't become the number one. Pick and i think a lot of people on campus expected him to be the number one pick and of course he has this amazing career and i just. I been fascinated by that story of chris who dominated the acc and was the number one team in the nation for a while and he was on the cover of espn the magazine at this tiny school in the acc. And i've always the back of my mind. Wondered why chris paul didn't go number one or number two or number three in the two thousand and five draft so i kind of pitched it. I asked some people around me you know. Would this be an interesting story and people took to it. So i dug it started reporting on it. I asked andrew bogut if he'd be game to talk about it and this guy is game to talk about anything. Andrew bogut number. One pick that year so i kind of appealing back the curtain and learning more it and what it told me was really. Chris is like it's a look into the draft process. And how you can fall prey to some of the cognitive bias sees or you know when you when you think you know a player and then you go and you meet them you kind of have this job interview thing that happens and i think the milwaukee bucks when they drafted andrew bogut were just head over heels for this guy but the other thing that happened was they didn't even take a meeting with chris. Paul so that kind of mystery to me. I always wanted to know what happened there. And so i- embarked on this journey to find out and we'll get to the peace in a second but like obviously as a white guy. You're probably i would imagine something of a chris. Paul stan right. You're probably always like kind of wondering how come you didn't get his. Do i kind of wondering. Obviously on the lebatardshow. Stu gods always having to go chris paul. He's kind of like the avatar criticism but he's not really the only one right when you consider you know kind of his career arc going from not really being respected enough and really as chat four. We'll tell you in this piece. It probably comes down to a size while he wasn't really respected properly but even throughout his career writing these bazaars stops all these folks and the rover could have gone to the lakers. He went through a terrible ownership situation. In new orleans went a hurricane that displays him to oklahoma city. They went to oklahoma city. Had all these bizarre pairings and now has taken. The phoenix suns the nba finals. How does this store that. You're about to kind of fit within the narrative arc of his career. He's gotten. I don't think a fair shake in the media about a why they keep falling short in the playoffs. And i think a lot of the things that people attribute to andrew bogut or in the interview process to andrew bogut. They attribute to chris. Paul a lot of the same characteristics leadership maturity and professionalism all these things and when someone loses in the tournament or loses in the playoffs routinely year after year. I think it lends itself to a certain narrative or tidy little sentence about how he's a fraud or that he's always injured and he's injured quite a bit no doubt about it but i think we take it a little too far. Sometimes where we read into these wins and losses or injuries or luck on either side and have it reveal something about someone's inner character like it's a reflection of whether he's a good person or whether he has that gene that clutch gene that playoff gene. And i think. We're over writing that on chris paul also. I think it's probably a little bit of that. Napoleon complex that wake people have that where we're just of punching up all the time and literally chris paul is punching in the story that we're about to tell and i feel like a lot of that a lot of that feeling that you're counted out and people don't respect to you. I think is part of the chris. Paul story so stugatz when he says those things i get it because it is kinda weird. It's strange for a guy that good at basketball to not win a title or make the conference finals until just a couple of years ago and now we're seeing man is so hard to win a title and things are definitely on the precipice for him like a two series. Things could go either way and he is definitely in one of the darker moments of the season trying to crawl out of this bad game for and we are recording this before game five. This'll be published before game five of the nba finals. So we hope This story will last long enough for for at least to be of interest to you. We at the very least we get to tuesday in the nba finals. And so for me. Chris paul is by far the most compelling character remaining in the nba postseason. Obviously honest is up there but chris. Paul has just gone through so much in his career. And we're going to go all the way to the beginning tom. Haberstroh has reported a piece. On how exactly. He didn't become the number one overall pick in the nba draft. Stu gods here for our friends over at draftkings. I love draftkings. I spent all my time there seriously. I have my mail.

The point being that most of them know they don't do that. And then the person will be like, but they provide me companionship. And if that's good enough for some people, that's fine. I'm just saying, I have a higher standard when I'm being chewed on by a bear, sir. That's for sure. But one of my dogs is one of those little Yip yip dogs, but I'll tell you She's the first one to bark at the door. That's the truth. So let's start. But is that unique in the up dog society? Uh, I'm not sure the first ones to market the door. This is an unusually small dioxin. And you know, so they have a bit of a Napoleon complex to start doctrines, you know? So I don't know what, like I don't know, Whatever. Like I said, if that's good enough for you, and it meets your requirements as part of the whatever social construct, and then you know you get you do your thing. So that's it. All right, man, you fulfill your purpose You could eat. That's right. Yeah, that's it's that simple. Thank you very much for the call there. If that's what she requires someone to be the Johnny on the spot bark machines that somebody had Dane to walk on your porch, then There you go. I'm just saying that if you're the dog I'm taken into the Alaskan wilderness. You're going to have bear duties as well. So that's the thing. Alright, 8889347874. So maybe you've seen this. Maybe you haven't. I have some theories why? That may be so Facebook now is sending messages to various people. Asking them a couple different questions. One is. Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremist? We care about preventing extremism on Facebook, Others in your situation of receive confidential support, Hear stories get advice, and then it's got little buttons is just a pop up. This will take over thing that comes So that's one iteration of it. There's another one. You may have been exposed to harmful extremist content. Recently. Violent groups try to manipulate your anger and disappointment. But you can take action now to protect yourself and others and in each of these instance they're wanting you to self report. Or report on others. Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremists, though there's actually I think there's three different wordings of this. So Now. I don't know if you've seen it if you haven't seen it. You're sitting down. We'll be sitting down. If you don't know what I'm talking about, because you haven't seen these I don't know that that bodes well for you. I know about it because everyone that I know on Facebook and people are texting me showing me their screenshots. And what's up with this? So I'm like, All right, Well, I'm gonna go and check out Facebook. So I go on. I don't get no message at home coming this morning. I was checking my phone at home. Come in and on the PC Here, Check it out. No message. No, There's two reasons for this, either one. It's because I sort of kind of abandoned Facebook for a year ago, and I only go on there for twitch notifications. And to occasionally check my D. M's because that's where D M school to die. That's right. Or there's a second reason. Yeah, I'm the extremists. Yeah, that's right. Like that old that old line there like there are one person in your group is always the annoying one. And if you don't know who it is. Guess what. Yeah, well, I I got it and I reported you immediately. So that's while I show that because I've assumed people were going to report me as well. But I wanted you to have more demerits than me first. So that when they do kick in the door with their F 15 or whatever, Um More attention paid to you. We find the things I don't go on Facebook at all anymore. Really? So I wouldn't find out for another two months. I'd be like, Oh, my My account's been deactivated. That's a shame. This is so crazy. This is so creepy. That is There's now you've decided you've just been exposed to it. What did you do? You looked at a Ross post, you know or so. I mean, that's the kind of stuff that's triggering this. Holy crap, man. Speaking of holy.

Does This Happen to You
A Love Letter to Short Men
"DOT COM and at her website Carlin Betcha. Dot Com and here is a love letter to short men. Your height is not an issue unless you make it one. It's one of the most common openers I see on dating apps a man's height. It's usually the first thing men list and sometimes height is the only thing listed. Yep just height nothing else as if those two numbers measured in feet and inches contain multitudes. I understand why it happens. We are a society obsessed with looks we treat beauty and both genders as a currency attractive people make more money are viewed as more agreeable and somehow more valuable. This is part of the halo effect, a psychology term where we assign one single trait beauty to other characteristics kindness. Personally I have never seen a woman who cares about height in fact, I find short men hot, not all of them but many. Let. Me Tell you a not hot short man's story. I recently wanted to date with a five foot five inch guy within fifteen minutes of our meeting. He ass is my height a problem. It was not until he mentioned it. I had not even looked at the height he listed on his profile. I then spent the next twenty minutes assuaging his fragile ego and explaining why many women like short men it was exhausting at one point I think he read the weariness in my slumped shoulders and tried to self correct. I'm only asking because you're right about love and sex. Sure if you went on a date with a dermatologist, would you ask her to examine the fungus between your toes? I didn't say that, but I wanted to my sarcasm is a feral beast. Then, there are the many many short guys who lie about their height. You know who you are. I once went on a date with a guy claiming to be five foot eight inches. He was five foot four inches. That's a four inch lie. If we're keeping track I wore three inch heels for that date that put me at five feet eight inches. Greeted him with a hug. This was pre pandemic days his head landed on my chest. Awkward. For most women height is not a deal breaker but lying is So. Here it is short men the painful truth your height is not the Lady Boehner killer. You think it is it your lack of confidence that makes women's ovaries shrivel up and never want to go on another date again, I have dated a lot of sexy short men and they all had one thing in common nothing to prove when Tom Cruise five foot seven inches was sexiest man alive multiple times. Did anyone add a footnote sexy for a short Guy Hell? No. When Bruno Mars five, foot five inches shakes what his momma gave him are women getting out there measuring. Sticks Adriano. then. There's Napoleon. Napoleon. Never had complex about his height nor was he even really that short you can feel his confidence oozing out of the impatient love letters. He wrote to Josephine one read a kiss on your heart and one much lower down much lower. Nowhere in that letter, will you find a postscript saying unless my height makes you not in the mood? Yet Napoleon somehow got his name attached to the height inferiority complex known as the Napoleon. Complex. The Napoleon Complex states that short men tend to be more aggressive lie more and try to compensate for their short stature by being exceptionally cruel. But researchers found the opposite to be true. One study from Nyu phone short men are thirty two percent less likely to divorce than tolman. The study also found women married to short men reported greater happiness and short men did more housework than tolman. Yes. There is a correlation between happiness and a freshly floor. Clearly short men are doing something, right? I pulled over twenty of my most dateable girlfriends for this article I asked the same question. Are you attracted to short men most had similar answer? It depends on the guy that's a nice way of saying that is not the package. It's the meat inside. So
