"Around every Saturday morning from 7 to 8 will be joined at 7 20 by John Drummond for another trip in his time machine and Americana. Steve will be in to take the place of Nancy Huggins this week, so Hopefully, if Nancy wins American Steve will get especially against a plus Here. You maybe gets a little cut out of the winnings. I actually decided. I'm supposed to get least metal pop century in an October if I do what I'm gonna do the last week. I'll open the box of leaf metal pop century and the air first place in which ended higher gets first pick. 2nd 2nd. Okay, Good idea. Kind of fun. Yeah, that's all over the years with pop century Yeah, it is fun and great split, So that's what the prize will be if it comes in and time. Four of the winner of and he was some items that we're going to talk about some of the items that have ended in the Huggins and scat that ended in August. Plus, we're going to pick Are Bears winner for week one and the Bears record for the season. Maybe we'll also later on, get a look back at our cubs and sex pics. And then kind of the show is kind of over, you know, but you can call us at 312332. 3776. If you have an item, you want to know what the value might be in the Huggins and Scott auction. Or you just think it's a cool item where you make want to make a comment about something we're talking about. And you can tweet a picture of an item to my attention. T Crown Tom Is my Twitter ID. For instance, Gary tweeted a picture of a 1980 tops Ricky Henderson rookie card. Looks like it might be a little bit off center. Looks like there might be a little bit of problem on the bottom, right. It's probably on graded 50 or $60 card. Maybe 30 or 40. If the conditions are found that six is go what looks like for about 80 90 bucks 720 to 150. So really, to get a graded P s a just dropped down their lowest pricing to 150. So it's getting there, but that's up to 2500 and value. But obviously you wouldn't want to have a s a great that right now, unless it's you think you have a shot at a nine. That's the only way. It would make the right direction, so it's coming down. So that's good to see. Yeah, they have it at 300 was their lowest so it went to 200. Now it's 1 50, which The lower they go, The more it opens up to use the number. Meanwhile, like I just sent a bunch to sGC. I like their holders and in vintage, especially they're really good for that. So I like them as a second company for Especially for vintage grading. Now here's a minimum place. What s GCS minimum Price? EC had 30 And I think that was up to $1500 value so much reasonable and they do it really good job, So I don't mind them. What pizza really does it sets them apart. They have their registry of, Yeah, type in the the certain number of all your graded carves. It keeps track of them. You can do them in categories. And then they've added this auction price realized value to all your stuff, and it shows what the most recent auction prices are on those items, and it totals up while you're that's a great value. SGC needs to get that done. Beckett and CSG need to do a similar type thing. If they really want to compete head to head with P s a so and now let's get to the game Use baths letter, the August action and even Rodriguez 2000. Oh, one Mizuno signed game used bat. Game used the UPS a 10 $750 Ronald Acuna Jr signed 2020 game. Use bad PSA DNA game used 10 26 $100 that's early in his career. And he does have, like a simpler trout type talent. Great investment. Yeah. $100 for game used around Laguna. Yeah, it could be. Yeah. If he can keep it going. He's hurt Ben hurt now this the rest of this year, but Yeah. Mike Schmidt. Signed 1983 game used bat P s a DNA game used 9.5 73 $100. So that shows you like later in their careers at the guys turn into Hall of Fame type guys, they can go for some real money in 1983 Smith hit 2 55. He never was a high big time batting average guy. But 40 homers 191 109 R B s 3 99 on base percentage. They walked them 128 times that year and 1 56 0 PS plus, so that was a pretty simple Typical, but in the he hit he was seven for 15 in the NLCS, but he was only One for 20 in the World Series last the Baltimore so now Bill Huggins. Were you rooting for Baltimore? And that series? Are you a Baltimore guy or more Washington? Who do you root for him? That In basement real time Still in Orioles saying, Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. I've moved for the nationals, too. But if the nationals are playing the Orioles, I root for the Warriors. Yeah, that's kind of like me with the Cubs sacks, and I'm a sax guy, But but I don't mind if the Cubs are doing well, I like I'd like to see Kris Bryant come back to the cups. How about him coming? Yesterday he looked And I really think he would want to come and sign with the Cubs. But his agents going to make sure the Cubs pay paid to the dollar, so I don't know if it's going to happen, But I think he wants to go there and what is surprised me. If they do sign them. It's just it's going to be with that agent is going to be all about the money. But at some point doesn't the players say Look, if they can at least give me this? I want to take it. I don't care if it's for three years or whatever I want to say he seems like he really wants that. For sure. For sure Love to see him come back. He and his wife gave cookies. The all these different people that did work for him behind the sales of stuff. Yeah, come on. They cost, you know? Yeah. Whole audience promoting cooking. Yeah. Yeah, right. Yeah, kind of like that. Let's go to the cookies, folks. Yeah, collector of last week with Four different lower grade mantles came in. And Those we could send in along with some of his vintage car, but he also had He sent away for.

"You know, You can't do it. Okay, fine. Go with the 38 Kinnick Auto. Okay, that 38 chemical. I'd always Vince and then we go to Jon Drummond, who has five points right now. Well, I'm going to have to go with my heart goes with Nile Kinnick. Hank Aaron. I saw players are rookie with the all clear Bears. And his rookie card would be hot. But I'm going to go, Tyler, I'm going to go with Ty Cobb. This time I got I got to start winning. Some things goes to be more realistic on my prediction. So I'm going to overtake Hub. Okay, now and then. The first place. Unbeatable. Nancy Huggins is next. Well, I don't I don't know about that. But I'm going to go with Vince today and I'm going Oh Oh, taking a gamble and the tight rope, Okay, Copy where it take And you know the pig guide, so Okay. Hope. Well, that's the good news. Here's the bad dude. Yeah, no one is correct, Which means that jump drumming and Nancy Huggins will each lose a point, which moves them closer to Tyler invents. So in some ways, it's like you guys. What a point. Why would you do? Okay, Here's here's the prices. The Ty Cobb $5300 was the high dead. The Askar Robertson. Nobody took it 6200 not bad at all. The Nile Kinnick 6300 and the Hank Aaron 7900 Like all of my heart Take Henry. Hank. Yeah, you I thought you were going to. I've been railroaded enough, man. Get out. Funk yourself. Fucking Yeah, No, Vince Understanding. The standings are Nancy, seven, John, four, and Tyler invents each Have three. Now. Here's the bonus question, so we'll go and reverse order so Tyler once again will get the first. Option in this. This is a toughie. I think Tyler doesn't have much of a chance. This one, but, hey, you never know. How much did he listen? During history class, We'll find out Okay, which famous novelist Played minor league baseball in the 18 nineties. This info Got this from the back of a Roberto Clementi 1972. Topps card number three. Oh, nine where they do little info bits on there. And here's the hint. I think Jon Drummond is going to get it from this job. Don't blurt it out because you have to wait for your turn. His all time bestseller was Riders of the Purple Sage Yeah, which was published in 1912. So Tyler, do you know who it is? You lost me once, he said novelist. So I have nothing. I had a feeling that I had a feeling you might struggle with. This one fits. Oh, that's it's tough, but I'm just going to guess Ernest Hemingway. Ernest Hemingway. It is not him. John Drummond. Okay, this one. This one. I'm a nail right to the right going to nail this round right away. It's got to be one and only the famous Zane Grey's same gray. It is. That's the answer. Well done. So John Drumlin gets the bonus and goes up to five. So it's seven for Nancy. Now. Nancy Huggins, would you have gotten that one if it got to you? Oh, probably not. Yeah, I don't. I don't think I would. If I was very I mean, I've heard of Zane Grey, but that like that title didn't go on a movie movies in the 19 thirties as a kid like I did in the theaters. There always was a great movie. Whether they're purple stages I melt. Okay. I was actually thinking of Baltimore native background. Paul Yeah. Oh, that would have been a good guess. Yeah, but he was dead by that time, so we couldn't have done it. Yeah. What? When did I thought Edgar Allan Poe lived until the early 19 hundreds, but maybe 18 sixties or seventies? Okay, Yeah. All right, Was it Judge Edgar Allan Poe, One of his relatives had a card in the In a football that the In the 18 hundreds. Really? You're kidding. Yeah, he went to Princeton. Um Is in P o is his name and Yeah, he was a descendant of Edgar Allan Poe. Well, we'll have to look that up. See if we can find out because that was how about the guy who was on the float? First Ever football card? I forget. What it was. He went to, like Princeton or somebody's. He looks like you know, some little guy with a dark, you look at his face. It's like you're gonna be in 150 years. They'll be talking about you under radio in Chicago about you were the first football tired. He's like, Yeah, I think I'll play this game. It looks like it might be fun. All right, so that was pretty exciting. John Drummond picks up an extra bonus point. C. J. You almost picked up to today. Almost should have, but I should have done a right. We're going to take care in, but I weakened. That's right. It's been a big man. You have been the champion today. Yeah, well, you still picked up a point. It's always good to go with your first thought, though. I think you're right. The the thought has already talked me out of it. When you went with I could resist. I just want to take it. All right. So thanks for joining us have a great week, Nancy Huggins and Jon Drummond and we'll talk to you again next week. All right. Very good. Now we're until eight o'clock. The number here is 3123323776. You can call with the question where until eight. Or you can tweet a picture to T Crown Tom to my attention and Will use it on the show. If I said, so Hang in there it's time for a short break..

"Very cool. All right, So let's see. Here's a couple of other things. I like this. If you like, game, you stuff, which would you rather have here? There's a Yogi Bera 1956 57 game used catcher's mask. With a 25 $100 minimum bed and they have a bunch of photos showing him where it it added up. Okay, that's pretty neat and then a Thurman months and 1977 game used cap with the $2500 minimum bed. That's tough. Yeah, it would be tough. I'd have to maybe get both and actually played catcher for my, uh, my nephew got the Afghan the head backwards from mention. Yeah, that's right. Sure, That would be the perfect Tambo bill. That's what Vince says. When it's like which pack are you going to open? He goes well, that's a tough to rise. I'll open both of us. There's a big right. Yeah, right. We already have a split plan for after the show. Bill. That's going to be nice. Good one. It's going to be a good one. I think for sure. Okay. What else do we have going here? Let's see. Boy picked up tweeted this one too. I'm working on a, uh 1964 tops baseball said I've been doing a 61 64 just piece by piece forever. They're kind of fun to do. I like both of those sets and I realized they didn't have a hot Carol. Some 64 top, So I thought, Well, I'll look on and I got an sGC eight. I thought if I'm going to get it, it's not that expensive. I'll get a nice one. So I tweeted it. Yesterday, a picture of it and I just said you can put it on the ball because you know, I've got that included in my set now absolutely Miska who used to be He was a producer of our show in the old days. For a few years. First, it was Ernie Scatting did it for a few years, then Miska and misc Assad and responded. What did he say? Here? He is something like Oh, it also tells Rico Petrocelli stories like that's always talking about Rico affected Sally and you know? Yes, Mickey Mantle. Always tell the stories about guys. Good. Come back on that one for sure. Yeah, OK, The number here is 312332. 3776. If you have anything exciting now we're going to have a bonus question because the men have been struggling in which ended higher. Nancy Huggins is dominating. So I've got a bonus question coming up afterwards, and we'll do it in reverse order, so that get the first chance at it. So right now Tyler's had had in a rough spell. So you wouldn't Tyler are tied at three. I'm going to give Tyler the first pick this week, Sure, because Tyler's been going backwards, So that's at least the worst he can do is stay. We're going. You're good with that, Tyler, You're good with leading Austin. Very, very generous of you. I can't lose any points. You know, It's a good And then we'll see if Nancy Huggins can be and with us today. If not, maybe, you know you guys can can move up, John. Oh, here. Oh, she's here. Oh, I haven't heard any of Boisterous talking in the background there, but oh, so we'll see what happens Well, well, like maybe I have to decide if there's a pretty good hint for it. So I think maybe I'll give the hint beforehand. And if none of the guys get it, Nancy will have the chance to get it. I think somebody will get it. I would bet If you guys don't get it, John Drummond gets that that That would be that with a hint, But we'll see. I don't to be honest with you. I don't know if I would have got it from the hint. I really know the guy's name, but I don't know if I would have gotten it from the Internet. But you do know the answer, Right? You do know the answer. Because you know, at this time and 5 10 minutes, $2. Maybe I won't right now. Sure. Yeah, I know what it is, Oh, boy, so that will be coming up right after which ended higher. No, it's good. I've been putting down. What do you think of this? So we'll remember. Originally they were talking about Maybe the sacks could trade for Kris Bryant. But then the Cubs were in it were like they're not going to blow it up. Now they're going to blow it up. But here's the way I actually want the sacks to trade for. I think the number one thing they need right now is a second basement. And either Adam Frazier with Mayor Field or even having by as if he wants to play second. If he'd be willing to do that, he's a rich. He has played second and is a really good second basement for sure. But Adam Frazier and I Love Wit, Mayor field and he can move down the right field to he could play either one. So that than I originally was thinking they need a lefty Batch Schwarber, but he's hurt. You don't want another guy. With injury problems. Joey Gallo or another current cub, Jack Peterson, Jack Peterson. Sacks They offered him, I think at 10 Million deal I think he thought he was going to get more ended up signing for less with the Cubs. So the sack sent didn't like him. That lefty bet would be good. And Joey Gallo has been hitting homers like crazy. Yeah. So exciting this year. And you know what? The Cubs are dot of it yet the writer of 500, they go on a little winning streak of an only back. I think so. Yeah. Eternal Cubs fan here. This is it. This is it. This is a TNT thing here. I just blew it up here. I just hit the blowing up. I don't think they need to completely blow it up. But if they're not going to sign, guys, if they get the right offers, as of today, they got it. Take them. They're probably they like way out of their first place. They're also way behind in the wild card. There's only two wild cards this year. I mean, you have to be realistic. Can't have all these guys did not get anything for him. I mean, you know, it's still there's hope. I'm sorry. There's hope under North sites. Uh, you're you're more optimistic that anyway, my hope would be maybe the sacks end up with one of those guys. But now who? If you could only keep one of the three between Bryant Rizzo and buy as which one would you keep? I keep Bryant. Thank you Just got to keep them. You know, Rizzo's got the black the back problem, Which really, you know, that's that you can't How can you give him a long term deal He's been missing every year now. Twice this year. Great player, but he's getting up there a little bit. Why is you know they have some middle infielders. He's a really good player hits the home runs and everything, but, uh, I don't know if they have to do big money. I think I'd be I'd be trying to keep Kris Bryant I hope the socks get mirror field. You know, he don't have like He's a leader. He's the right ingredient in that. Yes, him and 10 Manderson 12 at the top of your I think that would be great for sure. Out of three. A brave for that would be something. It's time for a short break here. Now after the break, we'll have John Bulldog Drummond and Nancy Huggins join us for this week's episode of which ended higher and then a bonus question afterwards. So hang in. There will be right back. Dear Exit strategy. Let's pick the perfect Toyota for our great escape slip away to a tranquil lake in the sporty Camry. "Fixed to a 1957 George Waste secretarial letter. George Weiss was, I think GM of the Yankees for quite a while he was in their front office. And the last eight Um, a rare 1938, Cincinnati All Star Game. Inaugural press pin. Okay, so let's see the order now. Vince still goes first, but he's catching up. Vince has three. So, Vince, Um I will go at the 41. Lou Gehrig. Full ticket. Okay. The full ticket Lou, Garrick and Tyler. You're next with four. I'm going to risk it again. I'm going to go with the Lou Garrick as well for is just the risk. Oh, Mexico's Jon Drummond. I don't care what my colleagues are picking and rule Garrett because to me, there's only one that stands out there. And that's the 1910 ringside seat ticket of James J. Jeffries versus Jack Johnson. That's the fight that was called the Great White Hope Fight, Remember? Came back. Jeffreys came back to win the race for quote for the white race. Johnson worked him over. But that thing that thing should be worth something in my opinion, Jan. Dribbling Transcendently. Yes. Jazz inverse. Sustained A definitely Yeah, and the unbeatable Nancy Huggins, What's your pick? For the Fourth of July weekend, Nancy? It looks like Nancy is not there. She didn't make it this weekend. That's yeah, I don't think Nancy's in this weekend. She's up at her parents out. Okay. All right. Well, uh Okay, I guess we'll just go with who has picked and there are no winners. This guy there is one. There is one loser and it rhymes with Smiler. Tyler was wrong and says he was second he loses. He invents her. Now he loses a point. They're tied with three John Drummond hangs in at five. And Nancy still at 80 seat shows up twice a book. You guys gotta get together. I know. I know. Okay? No. Alright. What were what were the values? Okay. The values of the, uh Let's see. Now we had Jason Hammel 220 is all that was Jeff Johnson, 1800 Lou Gehrig ticket 1900. In the rare 1938, Cincinnati All Star Game, inaugural press Bend five. G was one that stood out Nobody and you said the word rare. You said it. Yes, I said, rare. I tried to give it to him, but I I have to go back. I like that Johnson Jeffries ticket. I'm surprised that didn't take the top kick The dog. Well, 18 hundreds. Not bad for a ticket, though. We'll think about it so For sure. All right? We'll have a good holiday weekend. Jon Drummond. Thank you, sir. And we're going to have a quick break here and then we'll get to some more callers, if anywhere on the line. 3123323776 or tweet a picture to my attention at Crowne Tom, and we're going to do the drawing at the end of the show to one caller. "What do you have? I got eight boxes of our tops. NBA. Cards, unopened boxes and unopened packages from 1998. Mm hmm. And I mean, it could be a there could be something valuable in there. And I was thinking of maybe doing some like like an auction. Yeah. I don't know what you guys do auctions or anything like that Bill Huggins and scatter actions. Of course they do. They actually have type stuff, and they do a lot of unopened boxes and packs And I would think 98 tops is that's third year. Kobe 96 are probably more, but I think any of those boxes right now tops doesn't do basketball anymore. What would you think of that? Maybe trying a couple of them in an auction. See how they do. Yeah, I am. Depending on I'm sure we could find out what What they've sold for what their current market value isn't depending on what that is, would be how we would lock them, You know? Yeah. So, Yeah, we could do a little research on that. Vic. If you want to email me, T crowned Tom. At gmail dot com emailed me a picture of one of the boxes and I can give you an idea of what it might go for. And then if you want to send it in the Huggins for their fall auction or a box or two or whatever. Well, we'll see. We'll set that up for you. Well, that's that's great guys. Yeah, I'll follow through on that and I really enjoy your enthusiasm here. It's really great listening. Thanks, Vic. Have a great holiday weekend and we have time for one more before the break. It's run. From Wilmington. Hey, Ron, What do you have? Hi, guys. I'm I'm going to be a little bit all over the border here on you. My first my first item, Okay? We're only going to have time for a Brennan. We only have time for one before the break. So give us your best one here. All right. The the last home Stanford Orioles. They gave out Cal Ripken lunchbox. Yeah, Bill huggers. You have one of those in your kitchen. No, I don't. Yeah, all right. Yeah. I like the value of that, Uh, I would venture to say. 25 to $50 on its best day or something I catch. Yeah. Based on a hardcore Oriole fan. Yeah, yeah. Order. Bill Huggins might give you something to add to his lunch Facts collection. Talk off the air about that. Well, you guys should have my cell number. Have him give me a clock. All right. Very good. All right. Well, it's time for a short break. Now, uh, we're going to have John Drummond and Nancy Huggins join us for which ended higher and then we'll cut that a little shorter today and try to have a a longer last segments. We can get a few more colours in it if possible. 3123323776, and then we'll do the drawing at the end of the show, so hang in there will be right back. Got a shipment that needs to get out the door.

"Knows after 1995. He got Cal Ripken the sign the ball. Oh, Boy. He told me the story when he handed the ball to Ripken and ripping goes, Are you really sure you want deciding this ball? You know, you know. Yeah, There's logic to what he did from the two. You know, longest streaks. I suppose that would still probably self. What do you think that would still probably sell pretty close to what it Garrick single signer. I don't know that that is kind of meat from the history, but But may I add that you would think a nice display with a single sign ripped and next to the single sign Garrick Would have probably been, you know, a good way to do it. But there can't be. There can't be too many of those out there can't imagine that many people would Would go so far as the have you. No, No. Gerry. Paul. Yeah? Yeah. I don't think there'd be many of them that that's for sure. Now you've got some nice stuff in for of Ah. The summer action A Willie Mays taps rookie number to 61 P Ece 5 25 $100 minimum bid. 1914 is this be 18 blankets and near master set. 188 2 or one with a complete set of 90 players with a 5000 minimum bid. I've never seen That before that, it's almost impossible to put together. I mean, with variation, you know, there's two of eat. They They have different color infield for each of the 90 guys so Wow, That's pretty neat. That said with a 5000 minimum bed. There can't be a lot of them. No, no, Here's somebody. I think Thurman Munson should be it in the Hall of Fame. I can't believe he kinda assed far as I know He's still not in the hall. But you have a 1977. Yankees world champions. Game Warren baseball cap with a 25 $100 minimum bid. I really think game word caps like that are cool, but listen, the Thurman Munson His career. War of 45.6 can only be matched by six catchers. They're all in the hall and his war per 162 games would be third all time with Hall of Fame catcher is I believe at 5.25 behind Mickey Cochran and Johnny Bench. I mean to me, he played this 10 years. It's not how many years you play. How dominant were you while he played and he was dominant in the seventies? He was awesome. So that's where Nico fact. Yeah, you know. Yeah. How many years? Was he actually good five or six, But he was awesome. And most. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah. So that's that's true. Dennis Dennis from Phoenix. Just tweeted. I'm the one that bought that ball talking about the The Ruth Gehrig and the speed. I think it was Stevie Dennis can't could save the other name on there. But so we know that ball is now happily in Phoenix. Now we've got to make our MBA finals picks now here. The final that would help my collection the most this Milwaukee over Dallas, So I'm superstitious. No way. I'm gonna pick that. I think Milwaukee might struggle in their first round. Match up with the heat, But I have a lot of Yannis and and Lucas stuff, so that would be the best thing, but I'm picking and this is how we do it. Okay, I'm picking Philadelphia over Phoenix in the final. I'm not going with the big time favorites, and I'm picking Philadelphia in the final game to score 103 points. So that's the tie breaker. Now. Jon Drummond already gave me on the phone. He picked Brooklyn over the Lakers. Well, if they ask him today, what his tie breaker is Tyler is going to make a pick. I actually contacted Eriks since he's part of the show to I said, You want to be in out of there because we're giving away and giving away a contenders. Draft basketball pack which has one autograph. Ah, $45 packing at real Nice, great herbal second year. Perhaps Kobe card, which ungrateful sells for about 35. So this is a about an 80 to $100 prize here. So Eric picked He also went with the 76 years but over the Lakers and his pick is 111. For the Sixers. So, Bill you want to make a pick? Yeah, I'm not work. Many items over the years since you had the store have you actually sold the item more than one time? Off. What the best exact same item. You know, the best story about that is we've had up until covert. We used to have a trade day every Saturday. Would used to get pretty packed and a lot of the same guys would come in for a lot of the week's like they would regularly show up and the Tom Brady Contenders Rookie autographed with that it was grated BGs 8.5 must have gotten bought. Sold. Traded. Everybody here I think police what's on now that card. I think that's another card that's probably over 50 crafted and in an 8.5. Somebody was saying one of the regulars was in a month or so ago from trade. Daddy goes Yeah. Who would have thought that at the time were trading like six. Fake Your parents? You know, like, let some of them would would have been a the time we're 100 or two. All right. Some of them turned into six figure cards. It's like, Oh, my God, who would have funk it that the market would have gotten that crazy? I'm so that stuff. Well, we're already coming up now to the end. Of the first segment here. So now after the break, we'll be joined by John Drummond and Nancy Huggins for this week's version of which ended higher. And then around 7 35 Sam Smith will join us the N B, a expert long time NBA, a expert, so hang in there. Everybody will be right back. Some condo.

"Now events won't be able to join us this week. He's busy with your seed delivery there. 24 7 is really been busy, but we will have Jon Drummond and Nancy Huggins. I'm with us at 7 20. We'll have another version of which ended higher and then it's 7 35 will be joined by Sam Smith. Long time NBA experts, So it's going to be a good show of fast show. We've got a lot to talk about. So let's get right to it. Bill Huggins. This was pretty amazing. I tweeted this yesterday, and I think I sent this to you guys. One of my longtime customers was in this week. I gave him the nickname Batman a lot time ago. I'm not quite sure why or how, but that's when his victim And he we were talking about, I remembered In all three win exquisite basketball first came out. I called a real nice I opened one Hold a real nice, Michael Jordan. Catch card. And I was going to keep it because I had never pulled a Jordan autograph figure I never would. And at least I had a neat card here at the time. Cards like that were good. They weren't fantastic, but they were good. Well, Batman talked me into selling it too. So I asked him what he was in. I was like Well, Batman. Do you still have that one Jordan Patch Character Jersey card from exquisite all three that You got from me, he goes. Oh, yeah, I found it. And so I said, Well, send me a picture of that when he goes, Yeah. I also have The amazing fantasy comic book introducing Spider Man. And he had gotten stand lied to sign it inside. So my question was, and I gotta I sent a message that Americana. Steve got and responded to. This is about what I figured. Bye bye. He said. Stanley's on I wanted to know like some card guys. Don't like the have valuable cards signed by the guy. Some doom or do now than they used to in the past, But I wondered, I don't know enough about comics how it effects comic books of big money comic book like that. With Stanley autograph inside. He didn't think it would hurt it. It really wanted change the value inside. And he had said, And this is about what? What? Batman and I figured. If they submit that the CDC and grades four point know if they're looking at about 50 grand for value of it A six point no. It would be much higher than that, obviously. And we were think night. Yeah. Yeah, And and he Like Americana, Steve said. Even the autograph look good, too. But that's the one thing If you get a comic book slab, he can't look inside it anymore, so people wouldn't even See that autograph if if it got slab, But anyway, so then So then I looked up some this. He sent me the picture and I tweeted this. If you want to see it be crowned times my Twitter I'd be The Jordan exquisite. This is from the first year of exquisite It was number 23 a 25 with jumbo. Bulls Jersey piece. This minimum should be 30 Grand, I would say, and Annette estimate of that would be 30 to 60 Grand Plus Defending them. It was hard to tell through the one that was Jordan number, right? 23? Yeah. Which people go crazy about that. I mean for Jordan, if he if If you have a serial number 23 that that was one of the reasons I wanted to keep it at the time. But I was a sucker back then and good. It's good for Batman. It's not so good for me and my collection. I'm happy for Batman. But it's like, Oh, my gosh, When you think of that. And I would have kept that like I did fight about a year after that. Right around that time is when I started pick collecting my top 50, which is turned into my top 100 MBA autographs and I picked up a Jordan autograph about A year after that, but luckily I still have that. But this patch is really cool. It would've been a nice one. They have at least Batman still has it too. So there you go. Yeah. And now I got another. I got contacted by another person. Who Had. I think you might have seen this one bill. Lineup card from Comiskey Park. Yeah. Final game of the playoffs at Comiskey game for which the Orioles won And I think it was the Orioles. Yeah, that was game for that. They won. Plus, there were maybe four or five other lineup cards from the year. Is that something if she decides to send them that you would want to run those I asked Randy desk you did. She also have Game three? No. She only had the one playoff game. The rest of them games were regular season games. I think one was a Yankees one was an Orioles. I don't remember. What the other but there was probably three or four of them. I guess besides the game for a place that would be a significant lineup card and White Sox history. And Orioles. The Orioles won that. Yeah, Yeah, that was the game where Dipper made a base running blunder. It went to extra innings. And this white sacks loss. But that's kind of the White Sox time real quick. Yesterday I was at the Chantilly show and This guy confined us, eh? If it's not the best one on planet Earth. I'd love to see one that beat in the 1959. Chicago White Sox team, Bo Whole really won the day. L they lost. Yeah, to the Dodgers. Yes. In the world. But this thing Tom has 33 signatures on it. Every signature looks like it was signed yesterday. The ball as Somebody when they got the ball, 59 they very lightly selected, which I think is the greatest thing ever invented because these signatures never faded. Real on an official American League ball. It's got a full day if they let her it's got everybody on the team. Wow, that's and dancing. Great 33 signatures, you know. It's got, you know, Fuck that, Horatio with Lopez and win, and I mean Think Norm. Cash was even on that team. Yeah. You know he wasp? Yeah. Said Close key. I wonder if he signed that. He was on the way out here on there. Yeah, he's doing here. Yeah. I hate to bring this back to me and my invite bonehead moves it my younger day, But that reminds me of a story. We had a guy who of this was a baby 10 12 years ago. Had a ball signed by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. And then they played with it. They got other guys the sign it and he signed his name, Speedy an it or something. Write it in the here we put it on, Uh, On consignment in the store, and somebody bought it And then somebody else wanted it. I think it's sold for like 1500. I mean, it's still sold pretty good it and it had a good story to it. You know the whole thing and at this was maybe a dozen years ago or so I was telling my brother the story go yet. You believe those guys were playing it? Because, Yeah, everybody's here when we were kids, and we were playing We? We, uh, had, like the cover came off of the one ball that we were using. We didn't have any other boss and my brother grabbed a 59 white sacks. Inside. Thanks. I didn't even remember that like that. Most of it. I must have been pretty good about my dad had apparently somehow picked up well, he must have wanted in a bad because he was a cub's family if they would He would have let them collecting that. But I don't remember what the repercussions were that or anything. I really didn't remember it. But I was like, really Well, I hope we had fun. We used to do anything like the cover it come up off a ball. We tape it up. We do whatever we could to keep a baseball in action. As long as we could, but real quick. Um, I had a guy years ago. Came in with a ball with a single sign Garrick Ball..

"Run every Saturday morning from 78 talking about the sports collecting world collecting in general, and we'll be joined it. 7 20 by Jon Drummond and Nancy Huggins for this week's episode of which ended higher Unfortunately, I tried to warn everybody don't listen to our Derby picks last week, so since nobody won I have two finalists for the booby prize. Okay. Second place. Bill Huggins, Bill. Congrats, but you didn't win anything. Second place for trash talking about his horse. Winning on his direct message to MI ran is, uh, Next to me, and I think his horse is still running in defense. And as a guy still hasn't finished. Yes, first place is May they be price I get the booby prize for boasting. Not only is my horse this week gets wind of the whole Triple Crown didn't happen. None of us finished first. I think Nancy Huggins had At least they show. I think her horse finished third, but not good enough to win a prize. Why? Why I would take the 20 horse and 20 horse field. I'm not sure I know Bob Baffert and you know in the No. I know. I know. When you think about it. You have to pick a Baffert horse, no matter who you pick. You also have to book a Baffert hearts. Yeah. Now I'm still gonna pick essential quality for the next two races and see what he did at least given credit. That horse finished. Strong. He can't kind of boxed in at the start, and he could never catch up. But he was coming on strong for sure. He had a stock chance to win his well, He was there. Stretch, so Yeah. Sometimes they don't fire. Yeah, he looks like he likes to win two. So anyway, don't ever listen to anything we say about horse racing to use it is Like some of these guys really know their stuff? Sure. Yeah, We're just We're just goofy horse race fast. Now, Bill Huggins here something we do know a little bit about I had a Ah, guy sent me a picture. Of Babe Ruth 1916 M one, a 1-4 sporting news card number 1 51. And now if this is a real card, these are huge. That's considered a Babe Ruth rookie card. So the things I Told them to check and I checked in a toll. After checking all this, I said, I really don't think it's real. The size has is one and 5/8 by three inches, So you check the size. The feel of the card, which can't do from a picture. Boldness of the type like how the type is set and the me and the front of the card that he showed me. It wasn't quite you compared to a car that's been Grated or and or authenticated by either P ece or sGC, and if the boldness of the type I'm their card is bolder than the type on The card. They sent me then to me. That's not real. Now, Bill. Do you agree with it? And you have any other suggestions on how people look for a real old card like that to tell of its Real or meth. Well, there's one test I always use, and that's the smell test. Oh, really? Yeah. You could smell old paper. It has a smell to it. Uh, really opposed the paper from 2021, you know? Yeah. Okay. Well, that's a good one, too. Yeah, obviously can't smell a pick up just a little bit. Smells a little fishy to me. And when I looked at it will say that so things like some those are some good tips, But to me, it's Always going to be a little risky if it hasn't if it's not in a P s air sGC holder. Oh, yeah. You could tell that card brought it would have to be in one of those two holders in order, dammit! Anybody to bid on it? Yeah. Meanwhile, in any condition if it's real it that's a monster. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Oh, my God. There's big money on that one. Tweeted And speaking of some pretty good character. I tweeted I sent Dave had He has a big collection. And he saw it. You know what he wants that send a few cards and see How things do with the Huggins of Scott Action, So he brought in maybe 30 cards and he said, pick out a dozen of them, so I tried to pick out some starting with a real creased up Ty Cobb Polar Bear. Card up through. He had a couple 59 tops Mantle cards, but there was in addition of the cob. There was a real nice, 33. Gowdy, Mel Ott. Jimmy fax 1934 batter up which you don't see a lot of that up. 55 tops doubleheader Hank Aaron, which I don't see that bill might, but I don't see him that often. Nice. Jackie Robinson. 55 tops card. A Ted Williams 56 a really sharp 57 tops Come any so I don't know if you guys probably just got those bill. I don't know if he even had a chance to look at him. But for just 7 12 cards. They were pretty nice, and we'll see if you guys think any of them. Would be worth getting graded her mad after you guys take a look at him. Yeah, boy, I'll tell you, though, it's just I mean, sGC is 75 bucks. Minimum and P ece 300 bills. Yeah. 75. Yeah. I mean, that's not that bad. I'm on these type cards 300 to me. It's gotta make a pretty big difference, and it's gotta you know, maybe moving up a grade more from him. It's not great, and otherwise it really doesn't pay to do it. But these were some cool cards, for sure doubt so It'll be interesting to see what what happens with those? No, I personally I've been buying some bird magic stuff. Early eighties committed eighties, the late eighties. Stuff that I see that it looks like a decent deal because I think they're kind of undervalue when I was looking up 81 taps and for bird and magic cards because that's their second your card. I found a just happened across that Kevin McHale. P s a eight rookie card from 1981 tops and I thought, OK, that's pretty inexpensive. I I ended up buying it. I think I Paid less than 154. And meanwhile, I remembered when I saw it when you said I didn't tweet a picture of this, But if you look at the picture of his 81 tops, I remembered with him how he was all arms and legs. And he had some great low post moves Really good footwork, but really one of the arms right? Read it. I went on Google and I searched Kevin McHale can span this is there was a top 15. Wingspans that they had raided of NBA players. Past and present, right. And Kevin McHale was second behind Wow, Bowl. He was 6 10. And and now I don't know how they're measuring, if how accurate it was, but he had really long arms. Eight FT with its foot so the Cuban idea like Durant. And Durant and I think it was Anthony Davis. Both 6 10 with like 767677 wingspans, and that's a really good, strong wing span for that height, and then they'll can tie your shoes standing up..

"Is Erica Strauss came back with us and in for Tyler AKI this week, and we're also joined right now. By Nancy Huggins and Jon Drummond for this week's version of which ended higher but Jan Drum and what's up? You have a story for us. Sure do But before I give you that story, It actually made one of the few times I could make some points on the show when you mentioned them at the gym for movie with Burt Lancaster, because I remember us both on this big screen and on TV. Oh, you saw that at the big screen, really? Where everyone really their boats, and I saw How am I going to get a point? I'm get railroaded. All right. How about this? Do I get a half point? Tom, If I can mention tells Bickford was sort of the Coast Guard. That movie was sort of mentored Lancaster, who had that is Thorpe, who had a drinking problem, But that's wishful thinking on my part. It is my John for down the road. Maybe later. We'll see. Maybe maybe that's too risky or something we want to talk about. Is not you, Mr Call. It's in a way, it said. The engine starts this weekend. Of course, you've got the Kentucky Derby today down in Louisville, and then we have the first of the week this weekend and may starts the season in Arlington thoroughbreds. And that, of course, is maybe the last season. They'll have because Churchill Downs owns that track, and they've indicated that they're not gonna they're peddling. The thing is, I think unlikely that anybody could come in and 100 as a race tracks, and so Less interested in racing is it was years ago and Arlington. I know how many tracks of people been in. But Arlington is really a castle. I was their 1985. That is, we're doing the story. They had a player in the grandstand, and we went out there to get a live shot at noon or breaking down, ready to get some to eat and bang. The thing literally erupted. It was a huge fireball. And that fire raged throughout the day and it destroyed the entire grandstand. And I remember we used to live at 10 o'clock at night when they struck that fire. But the amount of people that has come to the scene were lined up around the area of the property to watch that fire. And yet they came back. They meaning the track came back Richard Deuces Well, the owner They had the island in million out of a tent in the next year. Of course, the track re opened and it is a castle compared us even even church without the dump compared to that, But it looks now that that's on the end of it, and racing is not like it used to be one example. I want to point out I remember working downtown. I'd come out of the City County building and there will be a lot of bus is over by the Sherman House Hotel Sherman Hotel. They were taking charter bus is taking people to the various tracks. Arlington, Washington parked out at home in this class track. Hawthorne of Sportsman's May would and they did goes Firas abuzz. Ro Ro. They had Bella Roma downs over there. You had about moral down south and create and so on my point being the number of tracks we had at one time here. And everybody would have did it was anybody interested racing get the racing form and nowadays, unfortunately to the casinos, Internet gambling and everything else and the age of the Hamptons Rail Bird is older now, and that's hate to say it. But it seems like racing is like the old gray mare system about seen better days. I think that's unfortunate and by the way for you guys and memorabilia. Be surprised that you mentioned a couple of famous jockeys that certainly I knew at one time were sort of hers. Autographs and things of that nature. Eddie are Carol What? He shoemaker Johnny Longden. Particular are Carol. When that no on that. That Derby quite a few times and it to show how big a new story used to be. That is not the Derby, but just the meeting of the Illinois Racing Board. We would we all the media with print and electronic would cover it had arguments. When the racing dates would be on. There was a key to get on it, and once it's often once this, Washington Park once said. But that's that was then and this is now and the interest in racing is a zoo. You go to the track now. Frankly, there guys my age and that's not good did not many young people on it, But there may be islands and on Sunday when they have family days, but I can't. Also, by the way, we know what bomb rebel Hawthorne and Hawthorne is going to continue author and has both hunters in thoroughbreds. Refused my next year. Maybe they will be the only track In Chicago when they something Well, Now there are still collectors of some of the big name Jackie's, and I still believe that Secretariat was smart enough. That secretary of Probably could've signed something, if any money to 1973. But he is considered the top horse of all time. I guess it was a terrible Hey, you guys, We have some collectors that into us, and they're gonna be in this auction is Probably a fact of 50 to 100, Old Derby, Delmont, Preakness and other race track program on a couple of them were signed by. I Want to Stay, Eddie Arcaro. That that should be good. Several lots of those in this auction. I don't think that would be worth something. I would think that yes. Should be very good. Well, it's time now. To go from that to this week's version of which ended higher. Alright, There's.

"My question was, Is it worth sending in the only way would be if you had the Kobe Rookie like taps, refractor, chrome refractor or even a real nice tops, Chrome Kobe rookie and they you thought you had a chance at a 10. Then it would be worth it, especially if you wanted to sell them right away. But other than that, no and shack they was in the From about 1989 through 92, especially that was in the really kind of overproduced basketball time frame. It Where even though shack was so great a lot of his rookies really don't sell for that much, even in high grade. Some of the shack stuff sells real well, but for the most part, if you're not selling them, it's probably a good idea to just hold off on those. And wait until things get back to a little bit closer to normality with the grating companies rather than get clogged up in the system right now with those Jimmy Gotcha. All right. Thank you. That's helpful. Sure. Thanks for the call. What year? Was that? Kobe Rookie. The refractor. Is that 90? Sophie was 96 96. Yeah, and I had a call from a guy about two months ago. He said Hey, heard Kobe stuff's pretty hat. Because I got a Kobe Taps chrome rookie card. I go old man, and he said it was the riffraff to who's like. Oh, you have to get that If you're thinking of selling that are just they protected. You have to get that one. Great it he goes. I bought it about 20 years ago was already be G s 951. Oh, my God. Oh, and the last one. I think it's at the time it sold for like 60,000. And then I look at eBay of somebody was asking 99,000 by and now best offer haven't looked at him recently. But it was like, Oh, my God. Some of that stuff is so high. It's just unbelievable. Already time for the first break care now that will be after the break. You gotta hang in there because we'll be joined by John Drummond and Nancy Huggins for this week's version of which ended higher, so hang in there, we'll be right back. Are you looking.

"In for Tyler AKI this week. And of course we'll be doing then it about 7 20 by Jon Drummond and Nancy Huggins for which ended higher. Eric. Good to hear you back on the show What you bet up to? I've been good. I've been working all since. As you know, We've got the White Sox this season here and ask you 1000. So I am my my duties now have been moved to White Sox. So I've been working all the White Sox games being in studio here talking to Lenin. DJ gin that son Well, that should be fun season to be working on. They got some talent there. It should be exciting, the timing of us getting them and then coming to where they're at now, and then it's it's tight and Amy is a White Sox fan. I'm I'm just it's great. Yeah, well, that's great. That's awesome. I I was going to say was that the Cup game last Sunday was like minus 20 below. It felt anyway, so, but it's great to have baseball back for sure Real Was that the temperature or was that the bat's probably put a little bit of both fairy for sure starting their bats in the phaser. There's no doubt about that. Yeah. First year we've got for Huggins and scats auction there spent so much cool stuff being brought in the R R guy that sent in all those babe. Routes that are already listed had a bunch of other stuff from the thirties. It was like a one of the things he had was a 1933 sport. King's card number six Jim Thorpe, It got graded a P ece three. I was looking up Jim Thorpe. I said, this guy I think was a really great athlete. Basically 100 years ago. He was like the world's greatest athlete. It 1912. He won gold medals in the pentathlon and decathlon. Was born in 18 87 died in in 1953. He, uh, played in Major league baseball from 1913, the 1919 and then in the NFL from 1920 to 26. And then plus a little bit in 28. He was a tailback and and full bath. Just figure out like how was in relation to everybody else at the time. And you and now, Okay, Here's Here's a quiz for a bonus. Yes, you need all the help I can get this season in the movie Jim Thorpe, all American and 1951. What actor big name actor played Jim Thorpe. 1951 1951. Uh huh. Yeah. Is this for? Um You know, I I don't think John Wayne is wrong. Yes. Yeah, because you wanted to get the point anyway, Bill. It wasn't unstable. I say Daddy held Clark Gable. Pretty good guess, but no Burt Lancaster. Okay, Okay. I've heard it said yes. So too did watch e don't lose a point, though, yet, right? You don't lose it. Okay. Thank you. It was a bonus point. If you thank you, thank you. Maybe you would get that was close some other things. I sent in that They just got the Huggins and Scott yesterday, one of our listeners had some really nice 1961 clear basketball cards. That some of them are going to get grated. Because now I don't know if you know about this, but P ece stop doing all their their lesser priced Grating fees, and the least expensive grating fee is $300 occurred. So you really need good stuff in order to get traded, but to show how nice this was there, I think there were Five cards that they were going to get graded by P. Ece and another four or five by sGC and then run. The rest is a lot. There was a Will Chamberlain rookie that was Really nice look, and it was in the holder. The centering added in the color were beautiful. I guess it had a crease in it. The couldn't really tell which hurts the value some, but I could see that doing Like for me. It's still worth getting graded that still worth getting old. Yeah, with the truth about that rookie card? Yes, With Bill. You saw that card, then you wouldn't have beautiful color and centering Nana. Oh, yeah. No, I mean that crease is just the same. I Without that, that card, the $10,000 card easily. I mean, I don't know what it's gonna sell for it Make greater Two or three with that creek or something like that, But it's gonna sell for four or five money. I can guarantee it just looks so nicely. It's gonna end that card all All rookies of howl of Famers air, really hot brand now with people that are are in thinking of it as they liked the collecting idea, But they're doing a lot of investing and stuff. I think there's a lot of those guys are really getting into the The big time name, rookie cards, and if it looks like to me, that would have been perfect. It's still too much for me to buy. If I was God, I don't bet on things that I send in any way. But If I was going to get a will rookie that I liked that maybe wasn't as high a grade as some of them. This would be the press The perfect Yes. Yes, yes. There's so many of the cards like he had to ask a Roberts and rookies to Elgin Baylor rookies, and so many of them are off center in that set just to find one that's centered right. There is a A big advantage to that card, so that would be interesting to see what grade they all end up getting. And then, of course, watching all those. Well, you've got some other biggies in that I didn't send him but from other people, Then you go see some guy that had a huge collection of great stuff. Several of me. Yeah, really busy. I mean, the amount of stuff that people I guess I've been cooped up in their house and dug out while they're just hanging out at home has been amazing that we I've been sending people I know we're doing a Chicago trip is that next week that I'm not mistaken. I think so. Yeah, e think my coming out. He's flying in the Minnesota Picked up a deal renting a truck and then He's headed for Chicago toe. I guess rain. He's been talking to you about Louise supposed to go see and everything and all that. Yeah. I had a guy that had a big collection of autographed items that he had stopped in here and was here. He way sent rainy, a list of like 30 items that he had, and Randy was kind of like, I think we could probably do all of these. It was a good list of autographed item, so I don't know who else is gonna be picking up from, But I'm sure he's got a ah, full round, so we'll see what happens with that. And then, uh, we sent in Duane, who's been a longtime customer. Here he comes in once, once or twice a month. He always looks at that. The old cardboard Well, he he brought in a Gretzky rookie that It's like, OK, this is good enough card to send in the PS, and it got in eight. So that's gonna be knows, you know? Yeah, that was that was a good grade on that card, so it definitely pays too. Get those big type cards grated and csg that I've talked about in the past was since P ECE stop taken in their lesser priced Uh, Different levels of grating and sGC raised their minimum one. I think to $75 I guess, CSG that a new company got deluged with stuff. So now they've got a delay on their stuff to me. I've been telling people you know right now, unless you have a monster card don't even send you e guess in the SMR last. I think it was last month. Where the head of P Ece said they literally had, like a few million cards. Wow, few million. Oh, my Wow. Maybe get it. If you had a card that everybody knew in the industry was gonna, you know, maybe be priced at, like 50 grand. Plus, could you send that there and then prioritize that if you get that, I do They do that. Those ones I think they don't They say Bill a lot of those that their 300 or more, they get those back in two or three. Weeks, but someone or left in that? Yeah, so that what they're doing is the stuff that they're that they're charging 300, or more for based on what it grades and who it is in the value. Once it's in the holder. They're getting that stuff back to us..
