Eric Welcomes Amanda Grace of Ark of Grace Ministries
"Amanda grace, you're a friend of mine. Hello. Hello, friend. I like to just talk to people that I like. Their friends, they've become friends. You've become a friend. And I get to introduce my audience to people that I love and you're tough to sum up though. You're tough to sum up. Your husband Chris is sitting over there. We're going to talk about him later, but. I want to get your story first of all, but for people that are just tuning in to like, what is this? Did this woman write a book on the history of the Nazis? Did she, how do you sum yourself up? Well, I joke around and I say and I'll explain why. I'm sort of like a prophesying female version of Noah. A prophesying female version of Noah. I don't think anybody's tracking with that. So we're going to start over. First of all, as soon as you open your mouth, I know this is a woman who grew up in the New York area. Yes. So what part of New York? I was born at Einstein hospital in The Bronx. In The Bronx. In The Bronx, New York grew up near pelham Parkway area, my father's from gunhill road actually in The Bronx. And then we would like that's going to ring bells across the country. Like, oh yeah, dunghill wrote. Why did you say that? What is that area known for? What do you mean? Well, near williamsbridge road right off of pelham Parkway happened to be one of the nicer areas of The Bronx. Okay. So that's where my nana and papa lived. My mom's parents. So when you say nana and papa, that's another clue Italian. Yes. Or Italian. My wife is Italian. And so that's another thing when I first, it was my friend Joel turon, dear, dear friend, Brooklyn, tie in. He said, you got to check out Amanda grace. And when Suzanne and I went to your YouTube channel to watch you, I just thought this is incredible. This is a woman that is obviously really outspoken about her Christian faith to put it mildly. You move in the prophetic. That's not one of those terms that a lot of people are like, what does it mean you move in the prophetic, whatever. We'll get to that. But you're obviously a real New Yorker. Yes.

"It's not just a whimsical kind of hope. It's a certain hope because of the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yeah, absolutely. I think all the pains that you described are so relatable and I know I found myself nodding and saying, yes, I feel that pain. I know many of the women in our audience do as well, but then the same when you were describing the hope that we have in Christ, I was also nodding and saying yes, amen. I recognize and I feel and I see that hope as well. And so maybe you remember that and cling to that day in and day out. You know, nana, I'm just wondering, you wrote about all these women in this book. Was there one that was just personally most encouraging to you? Yeah, you know, the one that jumps out immediately is Elizabeth, actually. I just spoke about Mary, but Elizabeth's story comes right before her as in Luke. She's actually 6 months pregnant when Gabriel goes to Mary and says, okay, it's time for another pregnancy to start. But I love Elizabeth. She says that she was righteous, living righteously, even though she was childless. So for years, her and her husband have prayed for a child and is seen the answer was no. It was a hope deferred. But nothing is impossible with God, and sometimes just because there's a delay doesn't actually mean that as a denial. And that is the case for Elizabeth, because God will make her a mother in her old age. But her story is interesting. When we meet Elizabeth in scripture, it's actually been 400 years of silence between the Old Testament and the New Testament that inter testamental time is violence, 400 years of no new prophetic revelation from God. So Israel is literally sitting in silence, still expecting the hope of God fulfilling his promise in the book, I write about Elizabeth almost being like a little symbol of Israel in the sense that she will sit in silence. Her husband is silent throughout her pregnancy and then she goes into hiding. So there's all of this silence around her and one day the silence breaks when Mary walks through her courtyard and she is filled with a Holy Spirit and she begins to sing. And then Mary will join her in the song and she will magnify the lord and we find these two pregnant women magnifying the lord as God fulfills his promise, and I love how beautiful that is, just the singing and the worship at the years of silence as God shows himself to be faithful. So I think of Elizabeth. So personally, I have two daughters, and we have a son almost through adoption now, but my husband and I, we have dealt with secondary infertility, which is when you stop having children after one or two kids on explained, you just, you're not able to conceive and have children anymore. And for almost 9 years, afraid for the gift of another child. It may not come the way that I'm hoping, but it's just encouraging to remember that sometimes even a long delay isn't always a denial about whatever God chooses to do. He's faithful. He's faithful, and we can remember that he is worthy of our worship. He's faithful. Thank you so much for sharing that and just sharing part of your story. I know we all have had experiences of, is this a denial or is this just like hope deferred and just trusting the lord in the midst of that and trusting in his faithfulness, even if it looks different than maybe what we would anticipate it looking like. And so as we wrap up, there is one last question. We ask every guest this question. At the daily grace co, we say that the gospel changes everything. And so what has the gospel changed for you? Yeah, so I think for me, the gospel has changed the definition of family. You know, I've mentioned in our conversation here praying for family members who had come to Christ and not seeing the fruit of that and kind of some of the things some of the tensions that come with that. God has given me family. He's given me mothers and fathers and aunties and uncles. My children call people grandma and auntie and uncle that are not related to us by blood, but we are family and Christ. And so he's changed the definition of family. He unites us in Christ and the reality is that we are brothers and sisters and we will spend eternity together. And so it's changed the definition of family for me. I love that. Well, as we're closing this up, is there anything else that you would like to share with us in the audience? Be encouraged today. God is faithful and he keeps his word. May he help us to remember that no matter what pain or suffering we might meet with today, God's word fruits true. Well, thank you for joining us today. This is deeply encouraging. And I pray that the women listening would just draw closer to the lord as a result of just all the things that you shared and that they would dig into the Old Testament, see these stories and we encourage everyone to pick up a copy of your book. We will link it in our show notes. And so thank you so much for joining us today. Thank you, it's such a pleasure. And thank you to all of our listeners for joining us today as well. "Of your bio from your LinkedIn page. Oh, why do I can talk about myself without reading? I would be better. That would be better. Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself? I know. Yeah, that's right. Well, guys, I am a computer engineer. I am my name is Alberto, first of all. I want to kill. I am from Uruguay, of America. And I am a computer engineer. I have been working for 20 years into information security in different fields, such as computer forensics, consulting, I have a BMP certification, which is a pressure management professional from the PMA organization, and that allowed me to lead many projects, implementing information security management systems, based on the norm, so I select 27,000, which I am also satisfied, and I am the first hacker in Uruguay that will seem to be, but that's not the main point, the pain point is that I was sent to research and for trying to help others seem to present without being guilty of any crime. And well, I am here with my friend Tony that I met on the address spaces. And well, she invited me to talk in a space with her and I'm very honored to be here today. Thank you. And I want to welcome everyone to this nice space. I see we have Jason, who I met also on Twitter space bunsen and beaker who hosts an incredible portrait of phrases. Make sure you follow. I guess he does a great work and also my good friend Jason, who is an incredible guitarist. He plays beautiful music for me and hi there. So she's just kind of remark the sky as we follow each other. How are you? And hi Mike, how are you, space Mike, and also let's say hi to mister proctor 31 and also to Samantha. Hi, everybody. Welcome to this space. And again, another disclaimer. We are recording this space. I am running an analytics on this space. So if you could go ahead and share this out and invite all your Friends, even if they're not seen on this base, there are people listening to us right now according to the software. I wanted to talk a little bit about some of the things that you experienced. But what made you decide to reach out? I mean, you know, they say that no good deal unpunished. Alberto, I wonder, can we talk a little bit about that? Well, maybe you decide to reach out and to help your country. Wait, do you mean after or before being arrested? Before being arrested, I mean, did you thought that you would get arrested for doing this? Absolutely not. It was something that never crossed my mind. It was something that for me, it was impossible that would never happen. I mean, if you ask anyone from my school, when I was a child, when I was in university, I was probably the most introverted person in the class, the person that if you have told anyone of my act Friends from college, who will be impression, if you have to do one person in the future, I would probably leave it the last in the list to be considered, no, never across my mind. And as I work in cybersecurity, one of the key things that we do is finding some problems in systems, you may find them in the place where you work and you are paid for finding them. I mean, that's part of your issue. Or actually, when you go to your house and you tell your computer, you can also find security problems in systems that are not under your control. And yeah, I did find a lot of problems in many systems. And all the time, I reported them in order to help those people that both the companies that are involved and the people whose information is started in those systems that are being vulnerable without wanting anything in return. I mean, there are no problems here in Europe. So you do it just to help you then get I mean, you don't get to eat sometimes I think in return, but I consider that that's the thing to do because otherwise somebody with bad intentions will probably find the same problem you found. And they will be affecting the private information of a lot of people, which I really like because privacy for me is something patients and I respect other people's privacy and I want my what I don't want to I don't want to be invaded by policy and my life is quite public right now, but I really think the priorities should be really respected. But I have reported for years not to accompanies to what I find the best, but to assert of my country, the search is agency of the development that handles all the security things that are linked to the government and to critical systems or importance systems such as America providers, for example, or financial financial institutions. And well, I have done it for years. And I never had any problem. Until I found a very important security issue in America provider that was the provider of my ex-girlfriend where she wanted to set an appointment in the system and she gave me a computer to do that. And well, before she gave me her username and password, I was already in the system with the privilege of administrator being able to see absolutely everything everything out there, the provider with the username admin and the password admin, which is something that is hard to relieve, but it was true. So I immediately reported that to the serve. And then I forgot about it because you had to report it and you don't need to get any update or you have to know how the incident is being handled and solved. That's not part of the report. You are just the person who reported it and that's it. And the year after that, I went again to a website and when you add in this field for so many years, you plan its mail when a system has security flows just by taking a look at it and you see certain patterns or certain indicators that the site can be easily captured to put them away. And again, in 5 minutes, I would say it will access to all the medical records of all the uses of the system, just modifying a parameter in the URL, which means, for example, you have a URL that has a number on it at the end and you change that number that you start surfing through all the records without being authenticated in the system, which means you didn't need a username or password, anywhere you could access to that information, just having the URL, and a report that two years after that September 2017 Interpol visit, arrested me, and I was sent to prison accused of having had the medical provider. That's what happened to me. You mean, they actually used the word admin as a password. They believe it or not, it's probably the, it's a problem that goes back to 19 60s that it was first pointed out as a big problem. And it's still 2021, but you still find systems that have the problem. And that works with scenarios that I have found in our abilities in systems, and Scala systems, such as those that controls the pump of the associations where you can access the without using even the username and password. The user is connected via template, and you can execute remotely comment to modify the parameters of the pumps in the gas stations, which is even worse that using admin admin. So I'm going to let anyone up yet to grab them I get me about ten minutes. I want to kind of like do some chat with Alberto. So Mike don't be upset. I got you. So we'll get you up here. 'cause I have a lot of questions to ask because I'm besides I want to kind of touch base on his books because I didn't realize how many books he had going on. There was a lot and it's on his profile, but he might want to take a look at it. But I wanted to talk to you a little bit about, I think all of us in this space, it has social network, right? We're all we have Facebook, Instagram, career, and all this stuff. And I've had friends who have lost their account, so on hacked in, they went in, they pretty much copied their account and create another one, especially Facebook, Facebook was an incredible place that has happened to a lot of my friends actually. So why would you do when you say Facebook is compromised? But what should someone do? Well, that is a question that somebody from Facebook should answer. It's a very frustrating situation. But from my experience, I mean, I have to clarify, I hate Facebook. So that's the point number one. I hate Facebook. So I am not as somebody who knows a lot about it because I don't use it. I have an account in Facebook. But I really refuse to do it. I don't know what they like. But when it comes to losing your account, I strongly relate that Facebook has implemented several processes and mechanisms in order to recover that. Such as having, for example, Friends contact that can allow you to verify that you are the person who is requesting to gain a gain access to certain account if it's been lost. So maybe you also have some kind of security questions such as showing images of friends and having to link them to names in order to prove that you know that people in order to prove that you are the person who is claiming their account back and I think that those countries probably work pretty well so it's not like okay, I got hacked and I have to forget about my account. The few places I know were sold that way, you should always have a backup email and to factor authentication and things like that. But that doesn't mean you are protected. If somebody hacks into your Facebook account, they can change up immediately everything that you have set for recovery, but nowadays all the systems normally requires you certain steps in order to modify that, for example, if somebody gets access to my Twitter account right now because they know my password, they will need my second factor authenticator in order to log in. But in case they get into my system because, for example, they still my application is still in the cookie station, not to be technical, means still in your session of the user. If somebody still starts cooking, then they take the account, it is basically Euclid herself in the pound and they can go to our account settings and care, for example, to change their password immediately, but in order to change that password, you need to enter the previous password. And probably you also need my second factor dictator. So I still in the cookie, which is the most. Easy way to still an account from Twitter or for many service because they're still in if they still cookie, they grab your identity, they don't need your password. So to assume to answer your question, just contact report that to Facebook and try to follow the steps that are part of the process of recovering. And you're going to probably. Unfortunately, I assume that certain amount of people are not lucky enough to remember that I found that I had to start from zero. And that's a big issue because the account that is being stolen can be used for I mean, they can contact your contacts and send them information or your reputation, basically they want there are many things that motivate somebody to have an account, one is rearrange another could be just to prove that they can do it. But the reason behind that is Ari, the fact is that you lost something that belongs to you and have information about you that you should be in control of and once you are being hurt, you lose that control and what they can do with your account is not up to you and that's really that's really something that makes you frustrated and powerless that something terrible. Yeah, I think that's everyone's nightmare. Everyone in this space I think we all are worried about that and thanks for sharing some of your tips or not. And I know you have your next year spaces your own is coming up at 6 o'clock, which you'll go more and more detail and I'll be co hosting with you. So also will be nana will be basically she has a lot of content regarding those topics that will be top in about. So manic with your will be co hosting with you. Samantha will be also telling what it is to what it feels to be had, how the life of a person is being impact when it is hard and her story can open the eyes of the people to know that if you have this really serious do anything you can to prevent that, but because when it happens, it feels out of your control. Your life can really turn into a nightmare. So you can really help a lot of people. Yeah, I mean, I just, you know, social media has been around for a long time and I'm one of those people that literally shared everything every part of my what I ate, you know, what I did, what events I'm at, I didn't even think about it. I don't have any remember four square or not. I remember just, you know, not thinking about it. I'm just always checking in, trying to be the mayor of a space, you know, like a restaurant or something, just to be there. And not once did we ever thought that, wow, someone could come through your house and rob you or, you know, still the identity based on what your profile set yourself up. So can you give us some little tips on what we should do from now on, especially now that we're also transparent and always sharing online? Well, actually, my recommendation is guys do not do what I do. Do not share when you go to Australia, take a picture and put afternoon Montevideo and I also put a time stamp in the pictures showing the data and the hour, don't do that guys, don't do what I do. That's no need to expose so much information allowed you. Everything you share can be used and probably will be used to, I mean, people are, as I said, the motivations for hacking are huge, but one of them is just to put that you can do it. And you see, okay, there's a guy that I follow that if it's a hacker that goes after people that are in the files, she hacks those accounts, for example, that hits motivation to develop those kind of users. Well, just the question is, what are you intuitive or in any social platform? If you want to connect with friends, then just create a private profile and connect with the people you know and you want to be in touch with. And don't allow any stranger in your network. If that's what you want, if you want, for example, like me, to be known and I don't know how to say it, to bring a message to create a world that's about certain topics and basically. Get to be known, I share too much information, probably, that I try to think about it in terms of cost and benefits are risk and benefit and put everything in the scale and well, I post too much information about me that I shouldn't. But I think it's worth what I get back from it. I mean, I get the attention and engagement from

I Got Egged, For Sure
"I got egged for sure if you leave out any gradient years. Zucchini bread won't rise to the occasion. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to. What happens when you're entirely in the wrong. No ifs ands or buts about it. Well for life's little peccadilloes. There's always someone to meet out the proper punishment and they won't taste so good another lifetime ago. A colleague and i were in charge of designing the food section of a metro daily. The newspapers food editor selected the recipes. And did the test cooking and baking and wrote stories about the bounty. She discovered someone else. Took enticing photos. My friend and i had to make sure the recipes stories and photos were put together in an attractive package and then printed. Once a week. I learned a valuable lesson one day about paying attention to details my friends in the news. Business new this heck. Even my nana's quilting circle was familiar with the drill. Turns out that. I found out the hard way that cutting corners when it comes to recipes at least is pretty much a cardinal sin and the cooking community every little old lady in dallas county and beyond apparently gets up with the sun every thursday to snag their copy of the dallas morning news. Why well the food section of course then. They hunt recipes and coupons and pick up provision at the store to make those recipes that very same day. Yeah even in the digital age quite a few folks still get their paper thrown daily in the driveway. Any clue what happens when you make zucchini bread without eggs you end up with the equivalent of zucchini rocks along with quite a bit of egg on your metaphorical

So basically the the story is like the animated musical series that tells a story of a family who live in the middle of central park in there the park caretakers and their whole the premise of the show is they have to protect the park from people that are trying to commercialize it for example. And what's really kind of cool better. Is this the first time. I've ever seen something set in new york city. That wasn't focused on buildings or loud crazy streets right. You're kind of the peaceful central park the whole time. And there's this wonderful foil on the show clue that you would love. There's this like grumpy. Old harris called busy brandon ham. And she's just gorgeous. She's conspiring demolish central park. And turn it into condominiums and shopping malls. But she's perfect because she's played by none other than stanley tucci. "Competition watch might have some morbid fascination but then it would be more. I wouldn't feel. I wouldn't like that either. Write about love isn't it. Love them and find love in all kinds of places. Yeah maybe they could found in park. You know rather than sat in front of half a ton of food that they eat within an hour and a half the produce. she's vast amounts of waste. T- think yeah. Do you think they're ever sick. They have a sick bag owned by at all times. Says she's never actually thrown up as a result. I think randy sometimes as in the tory of officer woods when way. I think you know it's been found love. And i brought jones evidence. The graham has a heart. Is that what you're saying. That's what i'm saying. I'm just producing evidence today. That i have a heart after the abuse of had recently for some of my picks of the week. I'm just trying to be something a little bit different. So that is my pick over the week tom. What's your pick of the week. Well i'm going to produce evidence that i'm actually still a bit of a nerdy child art. So one of the many lockdown hobbies that sir. I've i've taken up is find myself as a as an adult with enough leg not enough disposable income with enough disposable income to buy all the lego kits. I never was saying under his breath. Lego mike like so so yes and i. I now have sat in five. Lunar lander space shuttle and all all of big stuff and a few the star wars heads and stuff helmets collection. And i just finished over the weekend. A typewriter that she makes you can actually type things rates. Clicky clack noises. Oh really. I like typewriters law. Yeah oh well you love this asenjo center some photos. Oh you and tom. Hanks picks i mean. Pick me and tom. Hanks fucked my pick of the week. He's not lego directly. It's actually an app called brickette brick. It and you can. If you're in front of a computer right now go to brackets dot app. It will give even less information than the freedom phone because it is quite nichirei nap but what the app does this. This is the really cold tech part as you lay out the lego that you have a little pieces that you have on the ground spread them out bit. Hold your phone up to scan button eight. Scans all the lego. You have identifies. What each piece is what color it is and then suggests things that you can build with said lega to the point where it will point out where the particular piece that you need. He's in the pile. Okay that's grand. Am's tom's one. Stop the show. this is a first version. It's only an iphone not on android probably security thing but at the moment you can only build stuff build sort of non lego days of a better but i believe that they they will be in the future. You could lay out the stuff here either. No you're motorized at at walker and then it will find everything for you and give you took the instructions for that in the future. That's possibly coming down the line but right now it will categorize believe it will also start to create a list of what you've got and all that sort of stuff and just just actually watching it. Do its thing is worth the download alone. It's free currently. I think many people would end up paying for it for you. Know advanced features may be such as being able to rebuild your original lego kits and stuff but yeah absolutely brilliant. It works is a pretty new. It doesn't seem to have a ton of ratings at the moment. I'm just looking at literally the last couple of weeks. I think it looks berlin. Tom my concern. Is that the evil lawyers at lego are gonna shut this down. Well might they might all. Maybe they will see it. As a partnership that will allow them to help to unleash further creativity. Because that's where that's where. Yes just because they didn't think of it maybe they'll buy. That would be the smart thing to do exactly invested. Yeah because it will. It will reinvigorate interest in leg. You know and reinvigorate the brand some hoping. This'll be a good news story. Know a harbinger of going wrong. So k- keep it. Keep your eye on story and then you come back and let us now because yeah absolutely. Wow that is a hoax. Haven't tried it but it looks like an amazing app. how cold. I want spot my nephew like you can buy. I think it was on ebay. You can buy like kilos of like. Oh right that people sterilized they say and you buy these huge bags of it and i gave him my bought a ton of bags and gave it to. Yeah but god knows what's inside that it's just like different pieces so this would be perfect. Wouldn't it yeah that's exactly. It really helps do to thing now. I don't have enough. Because i my collection is literally just the staff boy in the last nine months basically and they're all made you don't take them apart to you and they're all might so i've literally got the six pieces that are left at the end of every every pack in a box and it says. Combine this thoughts when you've got some in the lost somewhere so i'm probably going to dig it out and pull up. Pull up a handful out and see what filed with. Yeah it just looks really cool. Let's really gets great pick league no one's gonna read my competitive eaten love story brick and i don't blame him. What have you go. We'll show pick the week An animated series. Now chosen this. Because my buddy. Tom here likes cartoon as much as i do. We've talked on the show before. But we're can morty final space bob's burgers invincible. Yes visible and a new one for you. Central park. "At revealed dot com. So it's kind of interesting. And i was thinking i wouldn't be happy with this right right. Just ask they've said what happened. They've said that. I take it seriously. They then said here's you are going to do about it. Have they said what they go into. they are as part of their ongoing commitment to the privacy of personal information in our care. We are reviewing our existing policies and procedures. To do they can to lose some customers over. That is what i wanted to know. That was my next question. Would you just walk at that point or would you think oh my. Data's already out. who cares. At least you know. I would want to have a meeting face to face meeting maybe with others. Well you know other customer clients but a face face meeting with their head honcho. Who can look. I'm talking about all the things that they did wrong. And now what. They're doing right about it and if that didn't satisfy me then i would definitely walk you. Basically want public lynching danuta. I mean pitchforks are optional. Obviously but surely the clients are the real victims with no culpability whatsoever. So do you feel it's fair to say they have some culpability in it because they agreed to secure the information that we shared with them. And they let the side down on a louis wouldn't be up to tell your culpable at need to engage some sort of law firm to give exactly. But do you feel. I would say the more carefully worded these kinds of communiques are done the more it gives me like. I want to pay more attention. What you're not saying. Yes but you're never going to get any empathy or humanity from a lawyer grow on what's the first rule of a revolution is the lineup. All the lawyers to shoot him. Don't you have lawyers in your family. You have lawyers in your close family..

Buy it now by now. Nothing there's nothing then. No other features are just piling. Yeah just filings And so if you got black to. Eric and are not going to start coaching him again. But he basically says we've worked with the freedom loving people of hong kong and we've completely re-engineered the phone and use the most secure components yard either that and all right so what i saw this. My first thought was get your money out. Said this is from the onion right. The onion yup because surely people aren't taking this seriously while pounding all it really is true so it really exists because it's available number of comments. Search things are insensible equals pirated apps. Mel wear infested sounds perfect for criminals. So the nsa fbi have back doors already. There was some chocolate hacker. Fantastic on twitter did a series of breakdowns and it turns out that it looks like it's a one hundred dollar android white box phone. I'm trying to read this guy's tweets. He's he's blocked me. Hukou fantastic likes me. Oh heck i is blocked you. He's i'm blocks by him on twitter. I think it's possible. Is he ever ask issue. Is he. not the partner of jennifer curie former dancer and close pessina friend of boris johnson. Sh i wonder if she hasn't blocked me but her partner pistole okay anyway but account usually silk puppet account found. I found a netflix queue. So that's interesting is at the bottom in the in the footer. Where a there's an faq then there's also privacy statement. Oh i one. What is your refund policy. Yeah love it. I think they are that. They are expecting a few refunds. So this person hack fantastic as he's basically a backward engineered inverted commerce from the photos and ascertain. That's susana certain chipset by a white box factor. an thinks he's chipset because the reference models uses chips. They're always have things like the sim saltiness location. The camera dislocation the fingerprint sensor on the back in the center at the top cetera etcetera. And if use a different set of chips or if you rip them all out and use different ones as this. Eric has intimated that. Actually you have to change the structure of the board and everything moves around a bit. So it's extremely unlikely that any changes have been made although oversee reserves a pm. Yeah and sale. There is some kind of confirmation of What this product is but it seems to me like the world's biggest scam that people are actually going to buy into know so up sell on one hundred dollar phone with what extensively. It's five time out right. It's hard us. Yeah and there's nothing illegal about that but which will have a customer west which is possibly the same as what was in there before but just re skinned maybe with an american flag awesome aircraft flying majestically above it as a lovely image. Isn't it. I mean the very nice you know the brandon per as it stands is not bad but geno certain people will flock to this phone thinking you know own lips with it and they're the ones that you know is going to be more like polin notice know they're up to anything naughty or not this stage right. No no not not per se. But i think they'll be using. What is ostensibly an insecure praful. I'm just reading the fairly minimal. Faq which crop yes on that side. And it's is this about you know what's the return policy you don't let customers may return the freedom phone unopened within and you work y- you've actually opened the box this punch you now. I can't stand is a fair volume that they wouldn't accept it back. It seems a little bit How'd you know if you don't like it if you use you most of the box on it's like your toilet paper right graham. You can't return that not once. I've used it no well once. You open the package presumably. Either you just show up and say sorry one of the two hundred zero a long year. It looks like a duck quacks. Laka duck swims academic tastes like a duck thought. He said it looks like a phone. I think it's probably a duck throw chris. Okay we're gonna to our brains for my story okay and we're gonna prove that you actually have some here today. Corolla didn't if i can do this. I know it is hot. Trust me. I know you like a balloon full of luke warm porridge yet. I'm in a sealed room right now with a huge window. I understand okay so first off. Tell me what you think. What services or professions do you think have the most. I don't know private info about you. Like if they got hacked you would just kind of go white as a sheet a clinic. Oh good yeah. Doctors yeah s. td clinics dominatrix. If i was if i if i am accounts with a dominatrix really would that would that really upset you. If people found out about that do you not think there's nothing to find out distress you. Death protest too much mean you gave me is not valid is what is that what you're saying. What about your therapist. Right there a finnish psychotherapy clinic which which was hacked and all that information and up in the hands of bad guys that was really herbal accountants and tax dude that would suck but because it's based on money friends. I suppose right just shows how literally give to charity right plastic surgery on your new now all on your new now. There's new even stays on your your female. Well my new new for a man in the new now for a woman. Who for a woman isn't it. God dealt with kids today. I don't think tom's a kid. I wouldn't take his advice. All these people like therapists accountants lawyers priest. Std's clinics dominatrix sees. They have information about you. Know you wanna keep fried or you wanna share in limited fashions or either way you choose to who wouldn't want your nanna to know about your dominatrix proclivities ninety along. It's your money make agreements where he sits and like a lot of these other than dominatrix. This story that has shown up at lake lawyers therapists. Accountants can lose their job. That's right if if they don't represent you probably so as the show is bigly security-based let's pretend one of you or both. You're the head honchos of ransomware crew. Okay bad guys. You're the bad guys. Thomas board so that already makes him slightly evil in my eyes. Let me grab local alley cat to stroke my lap. While we do this and What profession would you try and hit. I it but the ones we talked about like what. Profession like ransomware is all about the healthcare. Absolutely don't securities now given advice on who ransomware gang should ticket next. That's what you're giving advice just saying what you would do know you'll just and we come up with some suggestions will like the nso air in in in in the sense that you know we merely provide the information what people do with. It is entirely up to them. So yeah i'd hear healthcare because they because they have lots of sensitive information. Take lots of people's money but never spend it on security but it doesn't really win the hearts and minds of the folks that hear about it afterwards right hearts and minds of who will like for example if a If if a bunch of richie rich people at a swanky law firm the law firm gets hit. You might not feel as bad as if it's a bunch of cancer patients..

"Is when graham assumes i can tell in his voice okay carry on doing great well pegasus. The spyware has been back in the news this week. It's actually been known about since twenty sixteen when human rights activist called ahmed mansour. He received a couple of suspicious. Sms messages on his iphone and yet being the sorta type was being regularly surveillance suspected of being up to no good by the regime out of the He was smart enough to pass on these links to citizen lab the security researchers then they looked into it and they discovered some sophisticated malware lurking at the upper end and it was claimed at the time that he might be the my spied upon person in the world. Imagine having that well that discovery backing twin sixty and that prompted apple to push out some urgent security updates to everyone's iphone worried that other people might be susceptible to this may click on links and and have their phones compromise. But of course that was back then right and in the years since there's been a lot of allegations about the activities of nso group and information about how the pegasus spyware has developed over. Time for instance. Couple of years ago. Facebook claimed the pegasus was being used to intercept whatsapp. Communications between activists journalists politicians in india of the the real top people podcasters. Probably as well you know. All the runoff. We'd be that interesting. Honestly we record everything say so. I don't think anyway accusations that the indian government may have been behind the attack because of the nature of the the jonasson activists and politicians are being targeted and ns. Oh group they save. When you go to the allegation. They say trunk of the not french. But i was gonna say but they do that. Any kind of israeli they say look. Our products are only used against criminals and terrorists so they shouldn't be used in any other way. We sell it with that stipulation. That no one's gonna use it in any other way and yet over in mexico drug cartels actual criminals were using the spyware to spy on journalists. There are journalists in mexico who were uncovering criminal activity in mexico. So do you think that they might have. I dunno ignored the end user license agreement. Well probably didn't read it. Anybody ashley some people do. It's even if they did read it. They say no accept these. It's a bit like when you fly to america. And they say are you a nazi war criminal and they ask you all these questions and say no no of course not of course not except for that one addressed party university. i think. That's prince harry. You think well allegedly. These moved on. He does he. Is that photographed. Know exactly. it's going to tell all book coming out. Apparently i read. Yes yes terribly exciting anyway. Carry out graham. I'm really more interested in your story now. Jim member. Jamal khashoggi the journalist. Oh yes oh my goodness my horrendous story. He was chopped into little pieces at the saudi consulate and in stable went that gays visa stamped or something on that now say the saudi authorities used the pegasus spyware to track and spy upon him so so already had a bad name pegasus. Yeah so what's happened this week. I hear you ask Why we're here that she said that's what has happened this week. Thank you tom for plane. Well i'll tell you what's happened. There has been a leak of fifty thousand phone numbers now. Normally you'd think so fifty thousand. That's not what we do every week we could deal but these things off fifty thousand that she's not many records anymore. Is it very sad. Every record matters every this fifty thousand phone numbers claims to be a database of people of interest of nso groups estimates so people who want to buy pegasus right goto. Nso group right would like to buy. The software is the phone numbers that we would like to use this software against and now have to disclose those up from and why. Guess you'd be. I tell me they're gonna so. Is it a server stories software. I think there is a service component. I'm not actually consisted of nso group. So i haven't gotten that far. I think there has to be some kind of exchange of information which goes on. But if they'd like to send some free vouchers continue save ten phone numbers so this list has come out and what journalists around the world of being doing. They've been looking to investigate. mr one. that has just gone public. They've be looking into. Whose numbers are these. Because we believe that people of interest to people running the pegasus spyware and what they found was not only what many of these numbers not appearing to have any links whatsoever to terrorism and crime which goes against the nsa rule but also it appears that these are the phone numbers of people who have had their phones hacked so they analyzed a number of the iphones and a good deal of the ones. I haven't gone through fifty thousand. But they've mentioned get hold of some of them and they found that they have been hit by pegasus spyware which kind of links. It altogether okay. So what you're saying is there is a database that has been leaked that contains phone numbers and it turns out that an initial research that the phone numbers are basically indicating that this device has been infected the exact pegasus right and they've been infected by this malware which allows people to spy on your messages. See where you are. And this is zero. Click mauer said. This is an in the wild exploit which is being used right now to target the iphones of activists journalists politicians around the world. It means a hacker could remotely compromise your iphone without you realizing or you. Even having to click on a link. Let me just clarify headed. You did say that apple did release a patch for this. That was back in two thousand sixteen but pegasus has been continually developed ever since this now an android version of pegasus is not just by phone. New functionality has been added as well back in two thousand sixteen. you have to click on a link..

Well i think poseidon put a bag over medusa to prevent himself right right in that particular from but from unholy union was born and immortal winged horse cooed. Pegasus pegasus strange. Isn't it to have off with the snake woman and outcomes between officigm and a snake woman. A winged horse go. That's right and worse than that worse than that. If you remember your story of medusa and how she was killed by perseus who batuta deter pegasus. The horse actually sort of popped out of her pregnant body. After she was beheaded big grizzly. Well what has got my goat right now. This is that the is. The wonderful story of pegasus is being taken away from. Because it's not just classic myth now pegasus source of the name associated with some ravin. Nasty spyware because pegasus is the name given some smartphone. Spyware developed bindings really company could m. s group of you heard of nso group. I am very glad you're talking this clearly. Because i've seen this in the press and i haven't followed the who what where would i. I knew nothing of the story. Oh right so you can educate me because of tommy like i'm five. Metamaterials Can Make the World a Quieter Place
"Researchers have been thinking about how to reduce noise for a while. in the past the way to soundproof. something was create thick acoustic barriers. Made of heavy sound trapping materials but those are impractical for addressing some of our modern day noise emitters transportation machines. Hvac systems that kind of heavy barrier is not going to work for these things barriers. That block sound often also prevent air from getting through the world needed to find a way to create sound barriers that were light as air instead of thick and heavy so researchers began playing around with alternative materials in their quest to make sound disappear. This is nick. Fang calling from mit currently professor of mechanical engineering and we have been working on capturing light and sound waves yielding nanna skill materials and structures. Nick fang now at mit is one of the researchers who's been defining the cutting edge if acoustic engineering back in the early two. Thousands fang was working on a doctorate in mechanical engineering at ucla. He and a partner. We're trying to create a material that would make objects invisible like an invisibility cloak. Yeah very harry potter. We were collaborating on the concept of invisible cloak and more fundamentally materials than leased who transparency are the exotic effect refraction of light. This might sound crazy. But you've actually seen it happen in real life. nature has its own way of making an invisibility cloak. Like when you see a car on a highway in the distance sometimes it seems as if the car is floating above the road like a mirage.

The Legacy and the Future of Pride Month
"June twenty eighth nine thousand nine hundred sixty nine fifty two years ago. Police raided the stonewall in a gay bar and the uprising. That followed was led by trans activists. Marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera and it sparked a movement that has continued for decades marsha and sylvia like the trans vibe in lower manhattan at the time. It was real. They were taking up space at the stonewall inn and other places and that's why when the police raided they were like nana. You're not gonna quietest so. The first pride march in new york city was held on the one year anniversary of that uprising at stonewall similar marches went on in chicago san francisco los angeles but the history of that is rooted in resistance towards police violence over the last few years. It's like you know. Hey everybody is celebrating pride there you see. Cvs there you see comcast there you see. At and t. Putting out statements basically professing to be lgbtq allies but still giving money to politicians who are pushing anti lgbtq legislation and this is just three out of the twenty five companies that are actually pushing anti lgbtq federal state politicians. So as june comes to an end can do a little bit of a temperature. Check kinda how are you feeling at this moment in our. I'm wondering how are you thinking about this moment in going forward in two thousand twenty one post pandemic to put it singly. I think that aside from everything i think. That pride is as much about a recommitment to the unfinished business of nineteen. Sixty-nine as it is a celebration celebration has to be a part of any type of commemoration especially for people color. It's how we retain joy in the moments of difficulty but at the same time. I think that we have to recognize that. There's a lot of unfinished business. And specifically when it comes to the intersection of gender identity and race and economic opportunity all of those things that sylvia and marsha embodied in their life of the challenges in the hope that still remains very much on the table. And so i think that's what pride is every year and that's what i look to do with a recommitment

The Foragers Dilemma with Alexis Nikole Nelson
"Wanna ask you about your background. So i know you're not the first generation of of nelson or whatever surname. There is on your maternal side in this in the ohio. You've talked a bit about your mom's relationships with plants and what you learned from her. But i also know it goes even further back than that. So how far back. You want to tell me about how that kind of relationship with the land is part of your family. Oh absolutely so. We're very lucky because not not every person of color especially not every black person in the united states is lucky enough to be able to trace a lot of their familial history back on my mom's side of the family with her father they'd been they've been in the united states since the sixteen hundreds they were farmers in new england after the revolutionary war. And with my mom's mom's side of the family with my my nanna. She was a second generation. Cape verde an immigrant to the cape cod area and with a lot of bigger and immigrant families. A lot of them brought foraging practices with them and i mean my nanna was like working in the cranberry bogs in the nineteen thirties. To help better support her family and bats a whole lot of exposure to plant lice. But you just get to learn about with each passing day while you're out there so tell me more about that. She was picking the cranberries and selling them for a while. Picking the cranberries for a someone else's business which one of many reasons why i think being a forager of colour is very revolutionary as because nine times out of ten historically in even in the present day you're a person of color and are attending the land it is typically for someone else's game and that person tends to be richer and unfortunately often quieter than you and so when you go back far enough has some sort of connection to foraging because none of us would be here wasn't for that action but for the indigenous people who are already here like that. That was food that was eating and then a lot of those indigenous folks in turn taught black people who were enslaved. Those same tips and tricks in about the same kinds of plants because as a black person living on a plantation. You're lucky if you were getting enough to eat to sustain the kind of duress you were putting your body there every day so it was smart to know how to forage. How trap how to fish how to hunt so you could better take care of yourself. Better take care of your family and the rest of your community
When Anthropology Meets Audio Storytelling
"The only audio storyteller i think of that takes their cues from. Anthropology is nanna hauge christianson. She's in denmark and she has a phd in the subject. How would you say your radio. Production as an anthropologist is different than a reporter seeking the same story. What makes your work different. Do you think. I dislike very much. Then the field week pat of this. Yeah this pat where you go into it you go to place an environment and you hang out and spend time with people and maybe in a way. That's very like explorative approach in that that it's not always i'm sure of what i am seeking. Just they're kind of trying to be open and listening to what is happening. And then follow that. What you're describing sounds to me like a documentarian. How would a documentarian which i think of his journalism I guess i'm just trying to parse out when you walk into a room with a microphone. What are you doing. That's different than maybe what i would do. Yeah i think. I need to know what you are doing to answer that. A a good point i think for me i wanna know. Generally that there's going to be a story there. Probably before i go in. It's true that i might see something interesting. And just see what happens but more often than not. I'm on the hunt for a story from the get go and then i might spend a good deal of time in that space and just seeing what unfolds. But i wonder if it has to do with what i'm looking for in the first place which is story Yeah yeah. I think. I'm maybe not us occupied with the story to begin with. I think maybe that's a big difference. Yeah it's more interest in an environment or in a theme more broadly.
The Long Run
Brad Gray on Spatial Biology
"Brad. When i looked at your website is one of the first things you do when you prepare for an interview. You see things like your tagline is now map the universe of biology that is quite a phrase and and i really want you to dive in and help define that for for me and the listeners as we go on later in the show. It's it's really a bold statement we're looking to do. How Psychedelic Drugs Are Making A Comeback To Treat Depression
"Depression. It can be a difficult mental illness to pin down. It can feel different for everyone and even those who struggle with it can have trouble identifying bought. It is a mostly came to understood that. I had depression through talking with my friends for the longest time. I kind of system that everyone felt this way. Like weird just like general malays for this twenty nine year old. Depression surfaced about six years ago and began as a feeling of being disconnected with the world. I didn't want to eat because they didn't feel like i deserve to eat. I don't know. I didn't hang out with friends because i didn't feel like i deserve to see my friends. I didn't feel like i should be punishing them by talking to them seeing them. This person uses they them pronouns. They're a maryland resident and work as a software tester. They sought help for their depression. Trying numerous types of treatments may visited a bunch of different mental health professionals and tried different types of arby's In different types of medication but it always kinda felt like things were getting worse and worse and a current really find someone who has really helped me understand what was going on like. I still didn't even believe that. I had depression. All the while the depression advanced it felt like being alive and lake wanting to die rolling constantly fighting over like the resources in my mind then. Their health insurance lapsed in two thousand eighteen making the situation worse a surprise solution appeared while they were scrolling on social media and a posting from johns hopkins university researchers and then one day i was kind of like clicking through facebook and i actually found this ad four like this little simon. Study silla simon. That's the psychedelic drug found in magic mushrooms. And i thought it was fake remarks. I didn't expect there to be you know like a a legitimate study showing up on like facebook ad but they had no insurance basically they were out of options so they called wanted to have hope again from the wall street journal. This is the future of everything. I'm janet babbling today on the podcast. How the hallucinogenic compounds silla zyban once associated with nine hundred sixty s drug culture is making a comeback and giving people suffering from depression and other mental illnesses. Hope for this twenty nine year old study participant. Depression was not something that happened in their family. My family's from the caribbean and lived in america probably for about lake in years. We came here in ninety nine. It's kind of interesting because where from like a place that doesn't really view mental health. The that like america's mental health. It took me a while to realize that. I was having mental health problems that i was kind of experiencing depression. Depression affects a staggering number of people hundreds of millions worldwide according to a study published in the peer reviewed journal the lancet in two thousand eighteen. The pandemic didn't make things any easier. Last june about a third of people who responded to web based surveys said they suffered from symptoms of depression or anxiety disorder. Those results were published by the centers for disease control and prevention the protocol for treating these conditions hasn't changed much in the past few years. What we've been using is typically one of two things either a medication that people take every day or we have psychotherapy dr. Alan davis is clinical psychologist and an assistant professor at the ohio state university. He's also an adjunct assistant. Professor at johns hopkins university. A lot of people will improve with either medication or therapy or both to basically have both have a better chance but it doesn't work for everyone. Some studies report between ten and thirty. Five percent of patients suffer from treatment resistant. Depression and davis is that similar to what he's found in his own practice working with veterans suffering from substance abuse trauma and other mental health issues. So he began looking for alternative treatments present and welcome to psychedelic science. Two thousand and thirteen in twenty thirteen davis attended a science conference and came across a study exploring the use of silla. Sivan a chemical compound found in specific varieties of mushrooms to treat cancer patients with mental health conditions. The compounds documented facts include feelings of heightened awareness ecstasy visions and changes in the perception of reality for researchers say one of the most useful qualities is its ability to dissolve the ego to allow a user to observe oneself from the outside in the study of cancer patients. The drug was able to alleviate some of the anxiety and depression that can be associated with having a life threatening illness. I was just inspired by that word. I thought gosh this really could have a strong impact in the areas that i'm working with veterans and with others davis became part of a team of researchers at johns hopkins university that put together a randomized clinical trial. Twenty four participants. They were administered. Silla sivan with talk therapy to treat their depression. Enrollment for the trial took place in two thousand seventeen and twenty nineteen and the results were analyzed in two thousand twenty. Most of them had had chronic depression meaning decades of experiencing depression though not some had had it for shorter amount of time but this study was a weightless control trials so some people came in and started treatment right away. Others had to wait eight weeks before starting treatment so we had a comparison group. The study subjects received an extensive intake examined questionnaire to confirm. They were suffering from symptoms of depression. Participants were screened for schizophrenia. And drug use as these conditions can interfere with suicide and treatment. The big worry many people have about psychedelics is what's often referred to as a bad trip. Mary negative hallucinations. That can be scary and this is kind of trip that can go bad. Martissant received hefty doses of these drugs. The doses are based on weight and they vary slightly but patients receive around twenty milligrams in the first session a bit more in the second session to minimize the risk of a negative experience. Davis says researchers focused on controlling. What's called and setting. They work ahead of time to ensure the volunteers current mood and surroundings while taking the drugs. Remain as calm and comfortable as possible and so we spend about eight to ten hours with people before they ever get the drug talking about what the effects are talking about. What may or may not happen when they have this experience and that's why we have to train professionals there with them not only to prepare them for that but to help them through the experience when it happens because a lot of people have anxiety coming into the session. The person we spoke to the twenty nine year old participated in davis study group in august of two thousand eighteen. They had no prior experience with psychedelic drugs and didn't know watch expect basically went in kind of blindly. I don't have any other options. So that's kind of my thought process at the time was just basically kind of sticking anything to the wall and hoping it would work after fasting the previous night the treatment can cause nausea. They were placed in a small tranquil room fitted with a comfy couch. The whole room was a really really cool in very comforting because like they had like these statues like imagery in their end like. I think one of the muslim dowa tibetan model. I wanna say this and like there was like this nice lamp. It's off this really. Soft light psychedelic assisted. Therapy participants are encouraged to bring in objects from home to make them feel more comfortable. Some bring in ten bears pictures of family. The twenty nine year old brought a lightness of an ancient sumerian goddess. Soon nana once they were settled in the room. They were given two pills in a wooden cop the therapists top that the sivan would take fifteen to thirty minutes to start working. In the interim they were told to put on ice shades and headphones. That would play a selection of music they choose from classical tibetan chanting african drumming and modern music too. Once the drug fact the participants says the first session became a kaleidoscope of mental images and sensations. I remember being in lake. Felt like mount olympus the fall of the gods like oval the clouds and suffering them. And then one of my god's up to me and she gave me a key fell through the clouds. And i felt all the way down through the earth and i ended up in hell which is really strange because they don't remember being scared even though i was in hell and i remember asking like hey you know why am i hair And it was like haiti's leading me through hell kind of just like showing me around for life this very cold and desolate last. He was like of course. This is where you would come like. This is where you've made your home. The self revelations continued throughout this long session and turned intensely personal. I remember like hearing like the beats. Come on and i felt myself in like this place like all of my ancestors were and i was really close to my grandfather when i was a kid. And he died. Probably around when i was like four and i saw him kind of materialize And he walked towards the youth like these. She'll bananas which is what he's doing her then he handed one to me and i always kind of was afraid that if he was alive he would be disappointed in me and i remember asking him you know. When am i supposed to do like if my family like my parents and lake my siblings can accept me and he said that he'll always be there for me and my ancestors will always be there for me and i like that scene just like it. Metsu in mental to me after about seven hours than drugs started to wear off when it was over. You know you're still kind of like feeling it but just not as intensely so just basically like this really happy kind of floaty failing and we couldn't drive so like i had to have a sister pick me up. They ended the experience hungry and exhausted as for the depression not much appeared to have changed then. They tried the silla sivan trip once more this time with the stronger dose and after that these say they experienced to palpable shift. It felt like i was back into the world again like i was in reality. A lot of people said that not only was there. Depression differently felt like they had come out of dark hole that they've been in for years but a lot of people regardless of whether they're depression was gone or or reduced said that there was something really meaningful different about how they view their life initial results for the study reviewing outcomes from up to a month after the sessions were completed found that silla sivan plus therapy was more than four times more effective than other treatments. Such as medication alone at one week. Fifty eight percent of the sample were in complete remission from depression that actually lasted up to four weeks. After fifty four percent of people were in complete remission and were now studying those same people up to twelve months after to see how long that remission lasted the rest of the participants in the study. Were not in remission they were still experiencing clinically significant depressive symptoms researchers have yet to publish the results of longer term outcomes for all the participants their condition up to a year after treatment and this was a small study. Just twenty four people. Some scientists remain skeptical of this kind of treatment not just of silla simon. But of the validity of the data an outcomes for all studies involving psychoactive substances

"Boy howdy. Who boy i of so much potential just waste. Ford this is this is my thing about these episodes. Is that nana preppy. Nana she like they don't portray it as such in the tv show but she's in emotionally manipulative relationships. And then just like. Oh my god. I've learned my lesson. Maybe he wasn't such a bad guy and then she also at one point in episode three says that she should stop playing the victim. And i'm like girl you were like sixteen when a man's scooped you up when you were vulnerable at a movie theater and then fuck to you about times. You are a victim like you thought you didn't even know his real name but like the show is just like she's stupid and like she is annoying and she is stupid but i don't feel like she no stop. I don't feel like she's stupid for this. You know what i mean like. Her personality is stupid and annoying but to portray her as stupid for being in shitty relationships because men are terrible to her sucks so much. yeah. I think you're portraying her as like stupid airheaded about the wrong fix. She is but not about this part where she's a victim. Who was in a pedophilia relationship with a twenty nine year. Old man when she was in high school and i think japan high schools like fifteen to eighteen or something. So yeah she i mean. I don't think she was eighteen when she met him. Also she doesn't even know if he was actually twenty nine. Everything could have been lie because he's a cheater and he only picks to go long drives and hotel usually yeah and even in her released about her relationship with shoji but leading up to this point. It's been terrible. It makes me really mad that the show is like. Yeah this stupid bitch. She keeps letting men manipulate her. And it's like no. That's not what is happening. She's not letting it happen. Like i enjoyed the show because like most shows that don't take place in high school. it doesn't take place in high school for a great adults. Don't have to worry about your predatory ships wolf's gave me just kidding they all are except for the to cool people in the first half. I thought this is a fun. Show you the roy down on her and then yeah. We punk rock ninety. It's like she's fucking read. I'm sure she's got a lot of fucking baggage will get into an episode six to ten. But we haven't yet so right now. She's still pretty fucking cool. Oh well i won't find out anything about it and no and you said it before too. I think because it is forty seven episodes. They're just like yeah. Let's just drag out this content of us being terrible to this girl if it was like twelve or thirteen episodes. I'm sure that this whole flashback. Like all of college would've been in one episode if not like half an episode. Yeah i mean with. We got the gist of it in the first episode. Honestly like these if it was twelve thirteen episodes. This probably wouldn't even happen to these two or three. Just made us love to co-accused that i had to look it up. Are we there yet. No it like. There's parts. I'd like but i i don't trust it anymore. I the show. I enjoy that because it's not like actiony or like big cinematic scenery shots or something. I think they put all the budget into the actual care design center closed and stare styles change fairly frequently and i really enjoyed seeing that element of it and stuff like that. But i don't trust it. I could see potentially hetero potential but i trust issues now. Yeah specifically i was trying to look like hey like run deniable in that first episode that they are trying to set up something queer so i was like okay do does that follow through. Let me look it up. So i found this article on anime feminist dot com By roy lemons. It's called a tale of two non the fuzzy line between homo. Romantic subtext and queer baiting in nana. So i've just been scrolling through that just a little bit just to get a sense and yeah it seems like there's a lot of reference to the manga like the thumbnail of this article is the to nawaz in bed together sleeping. So yeah that's kinda what they're going for. And the artist who made the series had queer characters and previous works. So like yeah. It's pretty much confirmed yet. Not gonna be gay. We're definitely just And it's like okay then. I'm wasting my time. No i'm why bother good day. Because i knew there was some popular. Manoa a chinese communist with Two girls in love. And i know a lot more restrictive in the romance but it's because of the publisher was restricting saying like you can't show them being any more intimate than you already have sales or whatever advertisers don't like it and the artist is like no fuck you. I'm gonna keep doing and like bats once limited series so. I am curious if there is some overarching like issue or if this was the author's intent and this was their creative choice to do this direction. And if so why. Why do this to us like i've full disclosure. I've only sorta skimmed this article. Because i've only looked it up since starting to record a but it looks like the creator of the series in their previous work likely through the same company had a by main character and a trans secondary character. So like it's not a sensor thing it's definitely a creative choice rather than limitations of what they're allowed to ship so being a conscious choice of ood we touch hands and i go straight to my heart and This girl so cute when she laughs and If you were a guy date you in a heartbeat and it's like yet no. This is clearly a closeted gay woman and we're not gonna delve into that. We're just going to keep carrying. I've been loving relationship with the woman you ever ship posts so hard you just end up in a committed relationship and yes that's upsetting yet. Just such a hard pivot such a hard yes this punk rock caroline tuesday and less racist so cool and then we just get a bunch of shit piled on top of. Yes should he abusive relationships. Let's portray this naive child as an idiot for not immediately being great relationships or knowing when they're actively harmful aunt's like no we come on. Just be a. I can't hear for the gay gay. It's all we ask voltron all over again and it's just like they're portraying it so much like that so like if this is the style point if the author or the crater has similar stuff like this before with bt plus characters like why not. Why is this one taken a hard turn. I don't. I just got a lot of questions. It's just yeah. Because like i said i do enjoy elements of this story. I do like the.

"To l'hotel and she's freaking out about that. He hears the married man who moved to tokyo. He conveniently is right there on that city block right next to her in the whole bucking city. And i don't bother learning his name. Because i do not respect this man man. It's him or or suit. Would she sees him. She just starts ball again and starts going full on kramer back to the toll room we see cimko ling into show. She sang like the fudge arena. Just left her in the city randomly and don't know where she is and she doesn't know where she is kind of fucking friend or you not learned that she stupid. She is baby bullied the doll baby. That cries a lot and no one likes. He's a talent. Says like all right. Not as a love of the fucking area. And i gotta go find her. 'cause you're not gonna take care of our like i thought you would and shoot. She realizes like hey. Maybe i am an idiot. Slamming beers a kiss. Yes you are you both. That's why you thought you'd be good together. And after pounding a few more. Like i gotta go find her to. Here's like wait. Hold on any rhonda at the door. He just looks at the night standing chico and shoji cell phones or feige people something like they act before they think or something where it's just like. Yeah it's calmed down and just realize the situation touch care so cool so level headed calm about fucking every on an actual adults. Meanwhile non is out to dinner with him And it's an clearly a nice fancy restaurant. She's realizing he hasn't changed at all. He says she hasn't channel. I look different and it's you know it's been years. She says that she feels like she looks more like a child than she did when he met her. And he says. I like it suits you while musk. This man says her styles denver but the way she talked random is the same. She talks school like young naive appreciable and easy to trick the perm yes. She says he's the same whenever she asked. What's wrong with him. He just goes silent and she says it's always been hard on her whenever he did that. He's like oh sorry and that does it again so that doesn't help. We established hopeful saw. Their dinner. nana thinks about that may be their whole relationship. Together wasn't a lot which is worried about wasn't like a weird cruel trick that an older man was playing on a young naive high school student. And he's a viable file. Maybe it wasn't all smoking. And maybe maybe he did love me. And i'm like no he didn't do not you dumb dumb girl just like any time someone. She's interested in like just even the faintest like if someone sprinted by at full speed if this man just sprinted down the street and was like manny she would still be like. Oh he's so sweet of the feely this interaction like no fuck you. You're just in love with everyone. She literally fell in love with a pizza guy. Who doesn't know who she is. She's like i ended with the pizza guy because i guess he got a new job or something. Like what do you mean you only talk to pizzas. I deliver pizzas will give a shit about this like. Oh my god and so she's thinking that maybe that's just the personality is and maybe like the relationship they have is just relationship with him is like it doesn't matter notes with her. It's just that's why every relationship with him as like that's like house relationship with this wife is you know his wife for years and She shouldn't feel bad about the relationship they had in the past and like just another another relationship for it wasn't a malicious or terrible relationship in particular and after dinner. He walked back to the hotel but not all the way key doesn't want to be seen on with her. Because you know affairs and all that and as they're walking towards tally stops like a block short and they run into a co worker visit. He's like ha soup die. would he do out here with this. Young girl have to tell your wife. And he's like don't worry. I just took out there. I'll have to take you out to dinner to keep it quiet. He's half leases. Don't tell my wife clearly jokes like him taking it seriously and actually thinking he's an affair and ninety. It's like you did lie to me. Because i tried to avoid it. It would be more suspicious. So i just turned it off like a two because i'm skilled at lying about my relationships. I'm so used to this. I'm so practiced at this. The co worker season. He says the suit guys last name once again didn't write it down here about the scumbag it's ninety says. Oh well i know you gave me your real last name. He's like what she's like. Oh well your life your wife. I assumed you lie to me and gave me a fake name like yeah. That's a fair assumption. This guy's piston as she's about to leave she gets a sudden like a piff nielsen realization and attend shot of her like looking at him before she leaves. She still only goes. Hey stop cheating on your wife. And he goes. I'll try not try. I'll guy you're a little old for my tastes now. But i'll try not to sleep with other high school girls. That's probably what it happens. So she leaves runs off should not regret her relationship with him. Though she find it should over who okay and while running away herself starts going off. She's like oh that rain turns annoying. I should change it almost like she's maturing but also not because she didn't realize a fucking predator she just had dinner with sushi openers kiss gaping like hey everyone just ran out to try and find you know as our cell phones you people are dumb but you just gotta relax but this would have been a lot easier like and he's like oh yeah by the way what he's looking for he's drunk and also supernova do he's in love with me the stop lying to yourself and he's got stop lying to himself e to just got you get it over with because like i'm done with your child the child the like bullshit actually if we carry on a will lay for more than these two episodes i'm gonna die. Joe ski is audience surrogate right now. He speaks on behalf of us. As we know you end up together get through it and she asked like well. I gotta find choji where shuji. I don't fucking know. He ran out the cell phone. Or your goddamn any. She's feeling so shoji and she runs off to find shoji somewhere enough bucket city. That's the end and we also see juku comeback. We gotta go find. Nana i forgot my cellphone. Yemen is like. I'm way ahead of this because i take a second to think about my actions.

Are you sure you could share a room with me. I have a sexual assault with the getting like. Why are you both. what like. It's just very we. What is wrong with you people. Yeah they're both arguing. Why this is a bad thing but also being like no we gotta keep doing it. Because i'm a monster. Its we got power through four our friendship. It's like you're clearly ruining your friendship by powering. Through what happy in this situation. But we're just gonna ignore it. There are two beds in this room. Both of you lay in one each and go to sleep and it'll be fine fucking get overly the opposite of ono. The hotel only has one room with one bed. oh it's it's them with two rooms. There's no issue two beds and there's no issue and they're like oh god oh we're gonna fuck oh no looks like also like i feel like this scene ends with shoji getting in while the beds and like i'm just gonna go to sleep and then nana being like does he respect. I know there's two beds we got to use only one of them. I think what where these rules. You're making like who establish this. You're you're both insane. You you know the well known hotel room. One is for eating food and beds e can be actually come on like. You've never heard that over anyway. They can have their pissy hissy fit nana cries because he doesn't every scene and they go to bed and next morning at the beach not as in the water already in two girls talking shuji and he was like i think at any sleep. I was too rock hard all night to sleep and non to go with water such as she says like. Hey you can look after nana right like when i'm in turkey you can take care of her his what i mean. I guess she's a good as long as those leaky offer to move. So she goes in the water mckay like swings by. I love him once. Seen kiosque just had like a making strides of the really leading into the whole dress. Yeah down with shoji and they talk about how she was going to tokyo to go to art school. Yeah i'm going to go with her. He's like what is it. Yeah we're in a relationship like yeah why. Why wouldn't i. I got nothing else going on. And i think he says he's going to art school too so that we get a shot of that back in the hotel and that's what you could tell nanna not here. Does that bad. She's moving to tokyo to school and not a search crying. She's like my friends are leaving. what do i do with our guidance. From anyone else also refusing the listen to guard its romandie. What else identity. Because i drive them. All away with my annoyingness relationships don't work out a lot of friends. I school becomes like where you're and said server the tokyo no chance very president in the of like what the fuck just a reasonable chill dude being like shit. My girlfriend's friend's suck. He's the only one that you will in this dynamic. They freak out and while they're out. Yes she runs out. How alone time on the beach showed follows after her and says he's thinking about going art school in tokyo to this is such fucking bullshit that june co is like. Yeah you can stay here and look after nana because you like her so much right. Yeah of course i can. Of course i can do that. Friend yuko that i've known you for so long and then he's like actually fuck that i actually want to follow you guys because who am i without you guys so yeah. He says he's turkey. Oh he tells now that she should go to like. Maybe you can finally tells her that she should go. You tells her talked about this on how they're going and like you were moving on to do our own thing to find our own identity and own goals in life go on. Let's just keep this ride going. But then he tells her that she shouldn't that's my thing cut to them jiggles apartment and are all looking for colleges for not get into because she didn't plan on going into any art tools until the q. And now they got a scramble that she studying real hard so she can tag along with all her friends to them in tokyo going to universities. She didn't get into any of them because she's not really that great at art because he never wanted to. She was doing it for the teacher. She wanted the bone. And also to go to a co ed school in meat boy slowly and having dinner like in tokyo in the city and They find out that. I got rejected everywhere and She when she takes her out there like we're in tokyo. Let's go around. Let's take a stroll in the city while we're here and While they're walking around with research should shuji says like yeah he might be better off staying at home and a local school and like getting the credits there or something transferring in the opposite of what i told you at the beach guy so stupid i hate him. Everyone wanted flops. Every other seen about every deeply held belief they had no one's fans for anything and says like oh i can just find a job. I'll pay for my rent and the school wants to find a job and i'll go to tokyo. What about the tena college. You talked about that on. My parents will pay for that. But i can pay for both an apartment and school all my own or i guess if she goes corp parents will pay for that. I can make it work as she starts yelling at her. Like you can't just get the stuff because you think you will because you're like indomitable spirit will just meet everything worked out. Yes not acting like a child. Sometimes you just have to grow up. She asked if you'll be if you'll get lonely without her being with him in tokyo and he goes no. I'll be relieved. He gets hoffy. Yells and like walks off like i hate this got to. He sucks. much. Better is literally no redeeming qualities about this human being whatsoever any the way he's like. Get your head out of the clouds. Do you have to be serious about your future. I'm just like what are you doing. You randomly decided that you were going to go to art school in tokyo because your friends were talking about. How do you have money for it. Show g. sure you and nana are the same person. Except you're an asshole about it. Exactly she has protagonist syndrome that. She's just incompetent in anything she tries to do. But you're actively being a dick. Yes so he yells about that. Everyone stares at the moment because they're just fighting in public and he storms off and gets all pissy she realizes. Hey i don't know where the hotel is. I just assumed shuji new and he would just lead me back. And i rely entirely on him to know anything because i am apparently opel of us to literally everything around me except for love. Superplex we duke. So it doesn't even know where she is. She's lost it in the city while she's kind of dumped truck. She's we see tears coming down her face and worried about where she'll go back.

"Come on you can't that's what every girl who turns turns out to be attracted to women says before she realizes she's attracted to win. It's like i just want my best girlfriend to be a guy and then it's perfect. It's like no you just you just have to kiss your girlfriend. It's fine the parameters touch and then you're right there. So the mike recoils i though like oh god no i would never want to your high mass. Thank god kronos. You've got a good head on your shoulders. Go see this is why. I do think this is annoying. Because june co also raised in. The same town didn't turn out this way there. There is a chance that nana could have just been a normal person knows how social interactions and relationships work but no didn't work out. She just ignores all advice and like oh no let me fall in love and turn to disaster. I don't know how much republican anonymous backstory. I feel like this. An episode where we get the origins of this daddy fixation. 'cause bad started in high school at some point and that's clearly the root of a lot of problems yeah we'll probably get there but boy maybe not wanna see it on a school could be more of her more They're in class now. That shoji was told that nana has a thing for. He's like okay. Duan go to a movie sometime now. Nana just really sticking to her guns of. I'm not gonna fall in love with everyone immediately even though i've already fallen in love with this person and i'm going to be in denial about it for the next episode. She's like no and then somehow like a cuts her finger. She's think she's cutting the paper and yes she's thinking about like ours is falling in love. Because i don't want him to happen again and things about the dude but creepy man. I lost in this this college level art class they're just cutting edge taper with scissors seemingly for no reason. It's you. I'll start with construction paper. It's we're doing collage. I practice as confetti. So yeah they go to the nurse's office but no nursing say it's shoji putting the bandage honor and he's like yeah. We gotta take this immediately because if you don't address it right away it's only gonna get worse and then she's like. Oh my love revelation to weird. If i have issues and i just suppressed them. I can't get through them. Who who were thought so shoji can you teach me how to fix a broken heart. Too wishes style they realize. Oh yeah the way to get over enrolled love is a fling and to find new love so jeeze like Yes perfect now's my chance. So naturally it came up and of course nana is like our great. Where can i meet the cool guys in town fucking loser narrowed it lame ass so. He directs her to go to a club. And that's where we end episode to. I don't know if it's up to two or three. She says i value friendship more than a relationship or she knows what she's talking to. Jim coach i value like having a guy friend more than having a boyfriend. I was like do does backward friend can also be your friend. You also didn't think it was physically humanly possible to be friends with a guy yesterday and now you're so staunchly in this corner. She literally just does whatever anyone tells her. Never benefits her. It never works out well. She keeps doing anything anyone tells her. Unless it's actually good advice. And then she's like no. I mari latched onto this other. Sheedy bikes until new. Shitty advice comes along so we started off episode three. She's to the club to try and find to cool. Guys get turned up a guide to see in the club. Just the me back to college. I was like. I already have a headache. Just the imagery. The setting of a club headed again. I don't wanna be there. We see nana the teachings how he's cute and she ends up running into shoji and now that i'm recapping apps. Let's see how long get those names right. Because it's i feel a sliding i was going from nana nanna so. I only remember to go and cute skate. Because the only ones. I respect their good sushi pops in into shoji and as they're leaving club. Watch run in the sergio. Maybe because he told her to go there and he followed her because he's a fucking creep while they're leaving she's ranting about the tgif like cool and he's great he's like oh i'm just came out. He apparently gets like different women every night. And he's i think she says an enemy to all women to just saying how hot what you're also fucking a married man. You can't play that card. You can't josh. Get those lecture. So yeah i reject salmon says he's an enemy to women and mentions that chewco seems to talk to her last night that she stayed in kiosk. And he's like well. You know i know out right now while we go meet up with them and have a few drinks so they go up and decide like hey. We're all young and got some free time. It's just go to the beach. Yeah let's just fucking peach up. Yeah we could do that easily lubitsch right there. We've done it in a while so opening and yeah back back to the hotel room at the beach and drink get tired and not take a hint of like You're tired and you want to go to bed audible wink very i just got it shuji. Let's get outta here. Put a accused sharing a roommate. Shang she's like hundred up. Let's go back to your room is. They're trying to suck fair wink with absolute stupid fucking virgin god. Don't you know how relationships work at all. I'm an expert. Nona and the chad not the chat and like dr all fitted relationships that are only played. He's you know they wanna fuck dogs. Let's give them a show. She takes showed you back to his room and search. Nana talk about Room even possible. It's not allowed not against all flustered. Like wait i gotta stay here tonight. I gotta go back and switch rooms or no then fuck. You can't switch from now no you're right. I can't switch now. I can't do that. Ching-kuo i think especially in front of the people fucking being like we are going to give you your privacy so you can fuck that much clarity roy. We didn't plan on doing fucking we will try to sleep. Played like i am tired. I am going to go to sleep in a relationship. it's not. we're not sneaking around with host scores. Showed here like frigging out about that. And like donna's worry the shoe guy. It's the i can't share with the guy he's a sexual monster or.

"Professional and no more than me. Yeah take take my peer. Put them in a suit. I will assume a minimum there five years older than me so put together but yes She meets this guy in a movie theater and he's and she's like. Oh well. I work at the restaurant. If you ever wanna dinner sometime you should come so several weeks later after radio silence. He finally shows up and she just had to ignore his wedding ring and the fact that his name is probably not the one that She got so but yes She says it's not for a few weeks of but she says like every day said i every time i thought about it i thought about more and more and more feelings intense finals like guru. How handsome he is and he's really not that. I did not check beautiful off. Here's wearing a suit that that did a lot of the heavy lifting but yes so they finally graduate. We're back in We're we're back in the past. Oh shit it's the present for these episodes so they're done with high school. They decide they're going to go to art school. They went to an old girl High school so this is the first time dealing with coed learning environments going into this new school june coz like hey i know you always immediately fall in love with everyone. Can you please try not to fall in love with the first person you see. So the first person we see is a future boyfriends shoji so they are all in the same class together shoji and june co our friends and also were introduced to kiosk. Kiosque yea Future jim coz boyfriend gay you know the only to cool people. I wish we had them more. But yes so. They're all in a class and You know just being in a classroom with a boy. That's so erotic to our god. It's just way too much so none of things. June co wants to shoji which is not true. Like the pairs have the same hair just in different things. So it's like yeah. We were telling you who goes together watching anime but thinks that june co wants to date shoji and she's like. Hey leaning close. I gotta tell you a little secret. Don't try to fuck every dude you meet. Which is a revelation to not what you mean there. People actually says like third dudes but they're also like human beings are nate. That just treat them like you would human being. And she's like no what. I don't even know how to do that. Girls and guys can't be friends with each other. Does remember how. I loved being a housewife in the future. Still anyways so she's trying to fight the instinct to fall in love and Just keep fucking up so badly in romantic things because she just sees someone latches on and then is surprised that they aren't the perfect match but the boys come over to you house. They're all hanging out and non as like okay okay. Friendship time going to psych myself up being friends with the boy who strange concept. She doesn't know how to react. So the solution honestly. I relate is Drink enough to open up and just let everything out. And just you know that social lubricant. So naturally she gets too drunk and Just ranson cries about her ex boyfriend's they start out light hearted. She's really connecting like. Oh oh you know just Stories about my ex's a lot of them were like illegal relationships. But i let's less but when she finally gets to like tom about takuji he's like oh no no. No no no starts crying because she's not over june. Komo's like okay. We reached sad drunk points to go to bed. It's winding down. So they put on the bed and kiosk is passed out so he can sleep. That's fine and as jim co is out She's like hey you know that none as in t right and he's like what What she She spent the whole time. Talking about ex-boyfriends. That's not a great move when she's a best cheese stupid and so begins the next two episodes constant back and forth of each other. Do they hate each other can. Let's let's change a every scene so you don't know what's happening here. We'll see rawson. Rachel france but in an anonymity. Neither because i hate ross. Ross sucks so fucking much. Just like shoji nanna wakes up the next morning completely forgetting in a drunken state bed chief revealed all this stuff. She goes out into the living room and finds june cohen. Coast gay coddling. And then they catch her up and the fact that she told everyone everything about her ex's so she gets all embarrassed june co finally flips and is like okay. I think you could be good for each other. That could work out god. They can't stop queer baiting they nana says and i quote because i wrote it out earlier. Airing oh june co. if you weren't a girl. I would so your girlfriend and it's like oh.

"Thing i want why. Am i doing it because i can't judge you because i don't know who you are. This is just gay anime. I love you man. Unfortunately i love you. Man was gayer than their ship. At least what we've prepping on buys them some beers and she tries to toast to shoji passing his exams in punk. Nana literally. don't care about that. Why i would toast to that. You should learn this before you move to city with lots of people in conversations you tend to try to include the other person also most people. Don't give a heck about you so instead. They cheers to the coincidence of their meeting. And all the qualities they share and that they have the same name. Wow and then we hear future. Prep nana like reminiscing on the moment and her pouring her heart out all of that so they get to the train station and prep sees shoji and just runs off and punk. Non walks the other way so by their strangers again lost in the crowd. She runs into shoji's like his arms because he doesn't have his arms extended runs into him and starts cracking. I red flag. Yeah and she's just happy to see him. She like turns around to see if punk non still there but she's already gone and she's like oh we didn't even get to swap numbers and shoji says then it sounds like you weren't really friends at all. Stop crying and i was just like oh no so. They go meet their friends. June and kiosk gay. And then there's like a not really even a montage but they drive to show jeez place they go inside and suddenly prepped on is like she gets embarrassed that she's like oh i'm going to stay alone with you and she's like oh. I was just expecting to stay with june and then showed you. Oh well that would be weird. Considering that june and keo scape live together now like as a couple and she was like. Oh okay. i didn't know that. Good for them from my friends didn't tell me this vital thing. It's almost like i'm not that good friends with that. It's almost like they don't care about me crazy. But she's happy to be staying with him and then the next morning shoji is already gone when prep nana wakes up and she does some work around the house she cleans and she decided she's going to have dinner ready for him when he gets back and she's just like i of like this like being a little housewife he he and he gets back and eats the food and he's like wow it's good shocking surprisingly good and then he's like so. Did you go see a realtor about finding your own place and like how did the job search go. And she's just like oh shoot. I didn't do any of those things because she was just having fun playing housewife for a day. And then he's like well. Did you stay in bed all day. Because she doesn't say that out loud and she's like well. I did clean your whole apartment. And he's like. Is that what you came to tokyo to do to clean my apartment. And then she's like is that the thanks. I get for cleaning your shitty terrible apartment. I've been in this city for like eight hours. Can i please like take a second to breathe and be like hey. I'm homeless in a new city. Can i just at least be comfortable in my surroundings for a sec chin. She did him a favor. Clinton coat and yeah. I've had bodies crash on my touted college for longer than this before. Start giving them shit and you were not in a relationship with any of them. Yeah well yes she snaps at him and then he just fucking looks at her and the doesn't speak to her. He just gives her the silent treatment. But she's right just because he thinks that she should find a job doesn't mean that he gets to be ungrateful for her doing this for him. Yeah there's something lush shitty way of conveying his message than the way he did it. Yeah 'cause like it's not like he left in the morning and was like hey good luck with the job search and have her go get. that saw. The only thing. I'm doing today. He just left left left a note just saying by. Yeah didn't even say good morning. Yeah guess i'll figure should out on my own i guess. Do i even have a key. If i were to leave this place. Could i get back in. Yes would have been able to get by. That's true so he gives her the silent treatment for the rest of dinner and then he gets up to do the dishes and he's just like thanks for dinner The next day she goes to see a real her she's looking for a place and the realtors. Like hey with your budget. You're not gonna find a lot like right in tokyo but you can find a nice place outside of the city and shows her a place that has no deposit and nice for the price. I'm just like well suspicious. Crazy yeah patch impossible and he takes her to see it. And it's this lovely big building. It's old and it's brick and it's got a nice view and she's like it's on the seventh floor and there's no elevator but you know like it's really nice and then when they get into the unit punk nana is already there with her realtor. Well did he. Weird had a fight with the shitty boyfriend and then immediately see this beautiful woman again And then pref is like really excited to see her. Pumpkin on doesn't recognize her right away so like pref. Donna is under the impression that they were friends like. They made friends on the train. Punk non is just kind of like. I mean we know each other. We talk for a few hours. I didn't say goodbye. Didn't get any contact info. Assumed we would never meet again and with option so punk nana says that. She's not sure if she's gonna take the place so prep on it looks around. She's really excited about it. And she goes straight to her realtor and she's like yeah i'm going to take it and then puck nana gets mad being like well i was here first and then prep non is like well. Yeah but like you said you didn't want it like you weren't sure and i'm sure i want it and then pumped is like well now. I've made up my mind. I want and then she says well. Why don't you live with your boyfriend. Did he pugh. And then prep is like if things go on the same way they might. And i'm just thank you. Why don't you dump him. He did you dirty. And that is the whole fucking theme of the next two episodes. I hate it preview that yeah so punk nana asks what happened and they start to talk about it. But then punk non realtor like calls the conversation nonsense and she just looks up at him and she's like you're so fucking dumb show up and then president is realtor suggests that they move in together because it does have two bedrooms two separate bedrooms and they liked the idea but then pumpkin on israel tour like pulls her aside to try to talk her out of it he's likes. Do you really want to move in with her. Like she's kind of annoying. And as soon as like i think he felt. Okay saying that because it seemed like..

"Cales being pals this is all it should be all. It should have been one episode and it was perfect too. There are forty six more and they don't need to exist probably at least some of them there must be more. There must be more. We'll get into this first episode. But everything they're putting down if they intentionally didn't make main ninety ninety a gay Than oo they fucked up. They did that misled. This is a time. I feel like you already out of forty seven. Abc's who. I think which is like surprisingly long for an anime. Because it's like we're seeing that's either like twelve episodes or it's like a thousand episodes like one base. There's usually very little in between. And i think with the smaller seasons. It forces the pacing better. But when there's a death note where there's like more time kind of get not filler up. So it's kinda drawn out upsets. Two things of note happened in this episode. Like the rest. We could've skipped over. Yeah but we'll get to that too. Yeah so in the first episode we open on someone just a voice asking nana if she remembers the first time they met and that this person believes that it was fake. And then the opening happens. And it's very punk very fun It's not my style but as the song went on. I was like okay. It's a good song and we see a girl and she got a text. But i don't know what it said but either way it made her super happy back in the day of subtitling didn't exist the duffers at all ever and it's really not helpful. The whole screen is just her phone and it's like wonder what that says. Well what am i looking at. She says that spring is here. But it's snowing out so it's kind of funny. She just means the spring of her life springtime of youth. Her inner monologue says that she's running away and she thinks her parents. She says she's pretty much running away and she thinks her parents are secretly relieved. That she's leaving love that anxiety right at the top. My parents eight me. My parents are mad at me for existing the middle child after all that makes sense She's going to tokyo and she's she's got no time to feel sad or homesick. She's just going. She's excited to be able to see someone named shoji every day. Who is her boyfriend. She gets on the train and it's pretty crowded and she comes across the seat. That has a guitar on it and when she leans over to ask the girl who presumably guitar belongs to the train breaks and she falls on the punk girl. That's sitting there and the girl is like are you okay. I'm sorry my guitar fell on. You know i'm and then she asks if she can sit next to her and the punk girl says yes. It's at this point. That i know they're both named nana. Is that revealed in the anime at no. I called 'em prep nana and punk nada. I literally route prep for this nana as well. Yes yes the same wavelength party was covering this upset. So it's yeah. After this punk. Donna as involved so it becomes the tale of one on. We just call her. Non non so pregnant is looking at punk nana and thinking about how beautiful and cool she is and that she must be famous or something. She's wearing a designer ring and then punk non smoking and she was like. Hey is the smoke bothering you and not looks away. And she's just like oh no. It's fine nothing to bother me. He he he he. Clearly in love is love at first sight. She looks at this woman as she just like. Oh my god santa intro like falling tarver for like oh now we could sit together and bond like truly set up. How can you read this any other way. Nana is like it stinks that the train is stopped. Like i'm kind of in a hurry. Just text shoji so she text him as she tech super fast and punk nana. It's like really impressed. And she says something about you high school kids and then prep nana is like no. I'm twenty and punk. Nana says oh. I'm twenty two also twenty also to and they're both doing the same thing. They're both going to tokyo to start fresh and find jobs crazy. Just wait until they learn each other's names actually. I like the voice actress for punk nana a lot in english. I think revive is really cool. She's got like a nice lake. Smokey raspy thing. It's not like in your face like yeah. I'm a hardcore front man in conversation. Yeah so prep ana asks where she's from and then shoji calls her and she says hi. This is donna and she talks about the delay on the train. This is a one sided phone call. That's pretty and based on what we hear it. Sounds like he's gonna pick her up whenever he sounds nice at this point i was like she sounds like a nice guy. I i hate this fucking guy who okay. Yeah this is like the only good episode because we don't learn anything about any of these characters who are all secretly terrible at this point so prep nana hangs up and punk nana is like. Oh is that your boyfriend and then prep nana is like he. He he moved to tokyo to go to art school and he told me to stay behind. So i could plan things out and save some money and she makes it sound like he cares. It's like at this point. I was like yeah. That's a. that's actually a good plan you know like. Don't just move to tokyo. If you don't know what you're gonna do especially don't make someone else moved to tokyo when you know they don't know what they're gonna do prefacing. 'cause that's exactly what's going on this point. He sounds cool on the other shoe to drop beyond. We'll get there quick persona. She saved money and now she's on her way and she's like. Oh my god. I can't believe like i'm telling this all to you like a complete stranger and punk nana is like well. We're probably going to be here a while so we can get to know each other and then perhaps not. It's like. I'll just keep talking down at one point says like us. It's easier to everything to a stranger because they can't just immediately realize from i love you man. It's like the exact same plotline he meets. Jason seeks characteristic confesses. Every.

Because i want to get their names. Rights turns out the made assistant in is named jesse. Jesse has not. Just see the name but chassis with the board. I knew that what side didn't know that. And i watched it fairly recently so did not catch it at all. Is this specifically the lindsay. Lo han one specifically was. Yeah i was just thinking. I wonder if i wonder if they also had a maid named chessy in the original one. I never heard. I assumed it was just jesse and i miss hearing it. Yeah it's a weird name but hey if they committed to eight in the remake. I'd assume it had to be the same in the original because otherwise that's just a wild choice to be like The we're changing the name. What can we make what sounds more ninety s. Hey who are you. What's your name. Chess each se. That's a good movie. I liked that one anyway anyway. What we have going on this week is sort of similar who they don't get the same face but they got the same names we're watching non. Ah yeah ooh. This is a recommendation that came to us from twitter from user at e. e. k. l. s. y. e. Kill see i think eke kelsey jasper if you start chasing your tail on this table. I'm gonna. I'm gonna lose it. You do that on the floor. Bud thank you easily. You're the recommendation. But yeah so. I just gave it the old cursory. Please don't be google from what i saw. It does seem just like punk. Rock caroline tuesday. So i am interested to see how it goes. I saw there. Were some like headline or something. That said like nana is the anime that like everyone has heard of but it seems like no one has seen disagree. I've never heard of it. Oh i've heard of it Thank god balances restored. The natural order of thanks looked like reading the summary. I got drilled confused at thought it was the parent trap and i don't think that's what it is when i reread when he pointed out to me like. Oh yeah you thought it was more of a fight club. Yes there's two characters name nana and other nana us now because anime. It's got.
