"Amanda grace, you're a friend of mine. Hello. Hello, friend. I like to just talk to people that I like. Their friends, they've become friends. You've become a friend. And I get to introduce my audience to people that I love and you're tough to sum up though. You're tough to sum up. Your husband Chris is sitting over there. We're going to talk about him later, but. I want to get your story first of all, but for people that are just tuning in to like, what is this? Did this woman write a book on the history of the Nazis? Did she, how do you sum yourself up? Well, I joke around and I say and I'll explain why. I'm sort of like a prophesying female version of Noah. A prophesying female version of Noah. I don't think anybody's tracking with that. So we're going to start over. First of all, as soon as you open your mouth, I know this is a woman who grew up in the New York area. Yes. So what part of New York? I was born at Einstein hospital in The Bronx. In The Bronx. In The Bronx, New York grew up near pelham Parkway area, my father's from gunhill road actually in The Bronx. And then we would like that's going to ring bells across the country. Like, oh yeah, dunghill wrote. Why did you say that? What is that area known for? What do you mean? Well, near williamsbridge road right off of pelham Parkway happened to be one of the nicer areas of The Bronx. Okay. So that's where my nana and papa lived. My mom's parents. So when you say nana and papa, that's another clue Italian. Yes. Or Italian. My wife is Italian. And so that's another thing when I first, it was my friend Joel turon, dear, dear friend, Brooklyn, tie in. He said, you got to check out Amanda grace. And when Suzanne and I went to your YouTube channel to watch you, I just thought this is incredible. This is a woman that is obviously really outspoken about her Christian faith to put it mildly. You move in the prophetic. That's not one of those terms that a lot of people are like, what does it mean you move in the prophetic, whatever. We'll get to that. But you're obviously a real New Yorker. Yes.

"It's not just a whimsical kind of hope. It's a certain hope because of the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yeah, absolutely. I think all the pains that you described are so relatable and I know I found myself nodding and saying, yes, I feel that pain. I know many of the women in our audience do as well, but then the same when you were describing the hope that we have in Christ, I was also nodding and saying yes, amen. I recognize and I feel and I see that hope as well. And so maybe you remember that and cling to that day in and day out. You know, nana, I'm just wondering, you wrote about all these women in this book. Was there one that was just personally most encouraging to you? Yeah, you know, the one that jumps out immediately is Elizabeth, actually. I just spoke about Mary, but Elizabeth's story comes right before her as in Luke. She's actually 6 months pregnant when Gabriel goes to Mary and says, okay, it's time for another pregnancy to start. But I love Elizabeth. She says that she was righteous, living righteously, even though she was childless. So for years, her and her husband have prayed for a child and is seen the answer was no. It was a hope deferred. But nothing is impossible with God, and sometimes just because there's a delay doesn't actually mean that as a denial. And that is the case for Elizabeth, because God will make her a mother in her old age. But her story is interesting. When we meet Elizabeth in scripture, it's actually been 400 years of silence between the Old Testament and the New Testament that inter testamental time is violence, 400 years of no new prophetic revelation from God. So Israel is literally sitting in silence, still expecting the hope of God fulfilling his promise in the book, I write about Elizabeth almost being like a little symbol of Israel in the sense that she will sit in silence. Her husband is silent throughout her pregnancy and then she goes into hiding. So there's all of this silence around her and one day the silence breaks when Mary walks through her courtyard and she is filled with a Holy Spirit and she begins to sing. And then Mary will join her in the song and she will magnify the lord and we find these two pregnant women magnifying the lord as God fulfills his promise, and I love how beautiful that is, just the singing and the worship at the years of silence as God shows himself to be faithful. So I think of Elizabeth. So personally, I have two daughters, and we have a son almost through adoption now, but my husband and I, we have dealt with secondary infertility, which is when you stop having children after one or two kids on explained, you just, you're not able to conceive and have children anymore. And for almost 9 years, afraid for the gift of another child. It may not come the way that I'm hoping, but it's just encouraging to remember that sometimes even a long delay isn't always a denial about whatever God chooses to do. He's faithful. He's faithful, and we can remember that he is worthy of our worship. He's faithful. Thank you so much for sharing that and just sharing part of your story. I know we all have had experiences of, is this a denial or is this just like hope deferred and just trusting the lord in the midst of that and trusting in his faithfulness, even if it looks different than maybe what we would anticipate it looking like. And so as we wrap up, there is one last question. We ask every guest this question. At the daily grace co, we say that the gospel changes everything. And so what has the gospel changed for you? Yeah, so I think for me, the gospel has changed the definition of family. You know, I've mentioned in our conversation here praying for family members who had come to Christ and not seeing the fruit of that and kind of some of the things some of the tensions that come with that. God has given me family. He's given me mothers and fathers and aunties and uncles. My children call people grandma and auntie and uncle that are not related to us by blood, but we are family and Christ. And so he's changed the definition of family. He unites us in Christ and the reality is that we are brothers and sisters and we will spend eternity together. And so it's changed the definition of family for me. I love that. Well, as we're closing this up, is there anything else that you would like to share with us in the audience? Be encouraged today. God is faithful and he keeps his word. May he help us to remember that no matter what pain or suffering we might meet with today, God's word fruits true. Well, thank you for joining us today. This is deeply encouraging. Yeah, that's right. Well, guys, I am a computer engineer. I am my name is Alberto, first of all. I want to kill. I am from Uruguay, of America. And I am a computer engineer. I have been working for 20 years into information security in different fields, such as computer forensics, consulting, I have a BMP certification, which is a pressure management professional from the PMA organization, and that allowed me to lead many projects, implementing information security management systems, based on the norm, so I select 27,000, which I am also satisfied, and I am the first hacker in Uruguay that will seem to be, but that's not the main point, the pain point is that I was sent to research and for trying to help others seem to present without being guilty of any crime. And well, I am here with my friend Tony that I met on the address spaces. And well, she invited me to talk in a space with her and I'm very honored to be here today. Thank you. We are recording this space. I am running an analytics on this space. So if you could go ahead and share this out and invite all your Friends, even if they're not seen on this base, there are people listening to us right now according to the software. I wanted to talk a little bit about some of the things that you experienced. But what made you decide to reach out? I mean, you know, they say that no good deal unpunished. Alberto, I wonder, can we talk a little bit about that? Well, maybe you decide to reach out and to help your country. Wait, do you mean after or before being arrested? Before being arrested, I mean, did you thought that you would get arrested for doing this? Absolutely not. It was something that never crossed my mind. It was something that for me, it was impossible that would never happen. I mean, if you ask anyone from my school, when I was a child, when I was in university, I was probably the most introverted person in the class, the person that if you have told anyone of my act Friends from college, who will be impression, if you have to do one person in the future, I would probably leave it the last in the list to be considered, no, never across my mind. And as I work in cybersecurity, one of the key things that we do is finding some problems in systems, you may find them in the place where you work and you are paid for finding them. I mean, that's part of your issue. Or actually, when you go to your house and you tell your computer, you can also find security problems in systems that are not under your control. And yeah, I did find a lot of problems in many systems. And all the time, I reported them in order to help those people that both the companies that are involved and the people whose information is started in those systems that are being vulnerable without wanting anything in return. I mean, there are no problems here in Europe. So you do it just to help you then get I mean, you don't get to eat sometimes I think in return, but I consider that that's the thing to do because otherwise somebody with bad intentions will probably find the same problem you found. And they will be affecting the private information of a lot of people, which I really like because privacy for me is something patients and I respect other people's privacy and I want my what I don't want to I don't want to be invaded by policy and my life is quite public right now, but I really think the priorities should be really respected. But I have reported for years not to accompanies to what I find the best, but to assert of my country, the search is agency of the development that handles all the security things that are linked to the government and to critical systems or importance systems such as America providers, for example, or financial financial institutions. And well, I have done it for years. And I never had any problem. Until I found a very important security issue in America provider that was the provider of my ex-girlfriend where she wanted to set an appointment in the system and she gave me a computer to do that. And well, before she gave me her username and password, I was already in the system with the privilege of administrator being able to see absolutely everything everything out there, the provider with the username admin and the password admin, which is something that is hard to relieve, but it was true. So I immediately reported that to the serve. And then I forgot about it because you had to report it and you don't need to get any update or you have to know how the incident is being handled and solved. That's not part of the report. You are just the person who reported it and that's it. And the year after that, I went again to a website and when you add in this field for so many years, you plan its mail when a system has security flows just by taking a look at it and you see certain patterns or certain indicators that the site can be easily captured to put them away. And again, in 5 minutes, I would say it will access to all the medical records of all the uses of the system, just modifying a parameter in the URL, which means, for example, you have a URL that has a number on it at the end and you change that number that you start surfing through all the records without being authenticated in the system, which means you didn't need a username or password, anywhere you could access to that information, just having the URL, and a report that two years after that September 2017 Interpol visit, arrested me, and I was sent to prison accused of having had the medical provider. That's what happened to me. You mean, they actually used the word admin as a password. They believe it or not, it's probably the, it's a problem that goes back to 19 60s that it was first pointed out as a big problem. And it's still 2021, but you still find systems that have the problem. And that works with scenarios that I have found in our abilities in systems, and Scala systems, such as those that controls the pump of the associations where you can access the without using even the username and password. The user is connected via template, and you can execute remotely comment to modify the parameters of the pumps in the gas stations, which is even worse that using admin admin. So I'm going to let anyone up yet to grab them I get me about ten minutes. I want to kind of like do some chat with Alberto. So Mike don't be upset. I got you. So we'll get you up here. 'cause I have a lot of questions to ask because I'm besides I want to kind of touch base on his books because I didn't realize how many books he had going on. There was a lot and it's on his profile, but he might want to take a look at it. But I wanted to talk to you a little bit about, I think all of us in this space, it has social network, right? We're all we have Facebook, Instagram, career, and all this stuff. And I've had friends who have lost their account, so on hacked in, they went in, they pretty much copied their account and create another one, especially Facebook, Facebook was an incredible place that has happened to a lot of my friends actually. So why would you do when you say Facebook is compromised? But what should someone do? Well, that is a question that somebody from Facebook should answer. It's a very frustrating situation. But from my experience, I mean, I have to clarify, I hate Facebook. So that's the point number one. I hate Facebook. So I am not as somebody who knows a lot about it because I don't use it. I have an account in Facebook. But I really refuse to do it. I don't know what they like. But when it comes to losing your account, I strongly relate that Facebook has implemented several processes and mechanisms in order to recover that. Such as having, for example, Friends contact that can allow you to verify that you are the person who is requesting to gain a gain access to certain account if it's been lost. So maybe you also have some kind of security questions such as showing images of friends and having to link them to names in order to prove that you know that people in order to prove that you are the person who is claiming their account back and I think that those countries probably work pretty well so it's not like okay, I got hacked and I have to forget about my account. The few places I know were sold that way, you should always have a backup email and to factor authentication and things like that. But that doesn't mean you are protected. If somebody hacks into your Facebook account, they can change up immediately everything that you have set for recovery, but nowadays all the systems normally requires you certain steps in order to modify that, for example, if somebody gets access to my Twitter account right now because they know my password, they will need my second factor authenticator in order to log in. But in case they get into my system because, for example, they still my application is still in the cookie station, not to be technical, means still in your session of the user. If somebody still starts cooking, then they take the account, it is basically Euclid herself in the pound and they can go to our account settings and care, for example, to change their password immediately, but in order to change that password, you need to enter the previous password. And probably you also need my second factor dictator. So I still in the cookie, which is the most. Easy way to still an account from Twitter or for many service because they're still in if they still cookie, they grab your identity, they don't need your password. So to assume to answer your question, just contact report that to Facebook and try to follow the steps that are part of the process of recovering. And you're going to probably. Unfortunately, I assume that certain amount of people are not lucky enough to remember that I found that I had to start from zero. And that's a big issue because the account that is being stolen can be used for I mean, they can contact your contacts and send them information or your reputation, basically they want there are many things that motivate somebody to have an account, one is rearrange another could be just to prove that they can do it. But the reason behind that is Ari, the fact is that you lost something that belongs to you and have information about you that you should be in control of and once you are being hurt, you lose that control and what they can do with your account is not up to you and that's really that's really something that makes you frustrated and powerless that something terrible. Yeah, I think that's everyone's nightmare. Everyone in this space I think we all are worried about that and thanks for sharing some of your tips or not. And I know you have your next year spaces your own is coming up at 6 o'clock, which you'll go more and more detail and I'll be co hosting with you. Your life can really turn into a nightmare. So you can really help a lot of people. Yeah, I mean, I just, you know, social media has been around for a long time and I'm one of those people that literally shared everything every part of my what I ate, you know, what I did, what events I'm at, I didn't even think about it. I don't have any remember four square or not. I remember just, you know, not thinking about it. I'm just always checking in, trying to be the mayor of a space, you know, like a restaurant or something, just to be there. And not once did we ever thought that, wow, someone could come through your house and rob you or, you know, still the identity based on what your profile set yourself up. So can you give us some little tips on what we should do from now on, especially now that we're also transparent and always sharing online? Well, actually, my recommendation is guys do not do what I do. Do not share when you go to Australia, take a picture and put afternoon Montevideo and I also put a time stamp in the pictures showing the data and the hour, don't do that guys, don't do what I do. That's no need to expose so much information allowed you. Everything you share can be used and probably will be used to, I mean, people are, as I said, the motivations for hacking are huge, but one of them is just to put that you can do it. And you see, okay, there's a guy that I follow that if it's a hacker that goes after people that are in the files, she hacks those accounts, for example, that hits motivation to develop those kind of users. Well, just the question is, what are you intuitive or in any social platform? If you want to connect with friends, then just create a private profile and connect with the people you know and you want to be in touch with. And don't allow any stranger in your network. If that's what you want, if you want, for example, like me, to be known and I don't know how to say it, to bring a message to create a world that's about certain topics and basically. Get to be known, I share too much information, probably, that I try to think about it in terms of cost and benefits are risk and benefit and put everything in the scale and well, I post too much information about me that I shouldn't. I Got Egged, For Sure
"I got egged for sure if you leave out any gradient years. Zucchini bread won't rise to the occasion. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to. What happens when you're entirely in the wrong. No ifs ands or buts about it. Well for life's little peccadilloes. There's always someone to meet out the proper punishment and they won't taste so good another lifetime ago. A colleague and i were in charge of designing the food section of a metro daily. The newspapers food editor selected the recipes. And did the test cooking and baking and wrote stories about the bounty. She discovered someone else. Took enticing photos. My friend and i had to make sure the recipes stories and photos were put together in an attractive package and then printed. Once a week. I learned a valuable lesson one day about paying attention to details my friends in the news. Business new this heck. Even my nana's quilting circle was familiar with the drill. Turns out that. I found out the hard way that cutting corners when it comes to recipes at least is pretty much a cardinal sin and the cooking community every little old lady in dallas county and beyond apparently gets up with the sun every thursday to snag their copy of the dallas morning news. Why well the food section of course then. They hunt recipes and coupons and pick up provision at the store to make those recipes that very same day. Yeah even in the digital age quite a few folks still get their paper thrown daily in the driveway. Any clue what happens when you make zucchini bread without eggs you end up with the equivalent of zucchini rocks along with quite a bit of egg on your metaphorical

"She was finally getting her life back together again. She could now sleep through the night without having to wake up screaming from yet another nightmare. She could smile at people without faking it. Her heart was feeding normal. Now she could tell she had healed nor is he had managed to put her horrifying past behind her. Don't feel guilty for the good things that come your way her. Andy's words would ring in her ear and banished the thoughts away. She was excited when he'd popped the question. She was going to be a wife but after the initial thrill subsided. She began to worry nanayakkara. Being the known media specialists would want to let his social circle know about the good news. She was however skeptical of doing that. She had moved to the city for a reason she was still in hiding although she was doing so in plain sight. But why are you not proud of getting married to me. Of course not nanna. I just don't want the unnecessary attention. Social media brings personal events. Like this i worked in the media. I've read the media. I've a lot of friends who would love to join us on our happy day. Why deny them that chance. How could she tell him. She didn't want to ruin the moment from him. I know he reserved. And you love your privacy. And i respect that but could you please meet me halfway here. He pleaded she forced to smile. What the hell. She wouldn't be able to hide forever so why not let go and live while it lasted. Sure sweetheart sorry for trying to ruin it. This is your day as well. I want us both to be happy. That's my girl. The first pride march in new york city was held on the one year anniversary of that uprising at stonewall similar marches went on in chicago san francisco los angeles but the history of that is rooted in resistance towards police violence over the last few years. It's like you know. Hey everybody is celebrating pride there you see. Cvs there you see comcast there you see. At and t. Putting out statements basically professing to be lgbtq allies but still giving money to politicians who are pushing anti lgbtq legislation and this is just three out of the twenty five companies that are actually pushing anti lgbtq federal state politicians. So as june comes to an end can do a little bit of a temperature. Check kinda how are you feeling at this moment in our. I'm wondering how are you thinking about this moment in going forward in two thousand twenty one post pandemic to put it singly. I think that aside from everything i think. That pride is as much about a recommitment to the unfinished business of nineteen. You've talked a bit about your mom's relationships with plants and what you learned from her. But i also know it goes even further back than that. So how far back. You want to tell me about how that kind of relationship with the land is part of your family. Oh absolutely so. We're very lucky because not not every person of color especially not every black person in the united states is lucky enough to be able to trace a lot of their familial history back on my mom's side of the family with her father they'd been they've been in the united states since the sixteen hundreds they were farmers in new england after the revolutionary war. And with my mom's mom's side of the family with my my nanna. She was a second generation. Cape verde an immigrant to the cape cod area and with a lot of bigger and immigrant families. A lot of them brought foraging practices with them and i mean my nanna was like working in the cranberry bogs in the nineteen thirties. To help better support her family and bats a whole lot of exposure to plant lice. But you just get to learn about with each passing day while you're out there so tell me more about that. Production as an anthropologist is different than a reporter seeking the same story. What makes your work different. Do you think. I dislike very much. Then the field week pat of this. Yeah this pat where you go into it you go to place an environment and you hang out and spend time with people and maybe in a way. That's very like explorative approach in that that it's not always i'm sure of what i am seeking. Just they're kind of trying to be open and listening to what is happening. And then follow that. What you're describing sounds to me like a documentarian. How would a documentarian which i think of his journalism I guess i'm just trying to parse out when you walk into a room with a microphone. What are you doing. That's different than maybe what i would do. Yeah i think. I need to know what you are doing to answer that. A a good point i think for me i wanna know. Generally that there's going to be a story there. Probably before i go in. It's true that i might see something interesting. And just see what happens but more often than not. I'm on the hunt for a story from the get go and then i might spend a good deal of time in that space and just seeing what unfolds. How Psychedelic Drugs Are Making A Comeback To Treat Depression
"Depression. It can be a difficult mental illness to pin down. It can feel different for everyone and even those who struggle with it can have trouble identifying bought. It is a mostly came to understood that. I had depression through talking with my friends for the longest time. I kind of system that everyone felt this way. Like weird just like general malays for this twenty nine year old. Depression surfaced about six years ago and began as a feeling of being disconnected with the world. I didn't want to eat because they didn't feel like i deserve to eat. I don't know. I didn't hang out with friends because i didn't feel like i deserve to see my friends. I didn't feel like i should be punishing them by talking to them seeing them. This person uses they them pronouns. They're a maryland resident and work as a software tester. They sought help for their depression. Trying numerous types of treatments may visited a bunch of different mental health professionals and tried different types of arby's In different types of medication but it always kinda felt like things were getting worse and worse and a current really find someone who has really helped me understand what was going on like. I still didn't even believe that. I had depression. All the while the depression advanced it felt like being alive and lake wanting to die rolling constantly fighting over like the resources in my mind then. Their health insurance lapsed in two thousand eighteen making the situation worse a surprise solution appeared while they were scrolling on social media and a posting from johns hopkins university researchers and then one day i was kind of like clicking through facebook and i actually found this ad four like this little simon. Study silla simon. That's the psychedelic drug found in magic mushrooms. And i thought it was fake remarks. I didn't expect there to be you know like a a legitimate study showing up on like facebook ad but they had no insurance basically they were out of options so they called wanted to have hope again from the wall street journal. This is the future of everything. I'm janet babbling today on the podcast. How the hallucinogenic compounds silla zyban once associated with nine hundred sixty s drug culture is making a comeback and giving people suffering from depression and other mental illnesses. Hope for this twenty nine year old study participant. Depression was not something that happened in their family. My family's from the caribbean and lived in america probably for about lake in years. We came here in ninety nine. It's kind of interesting because where from like a place that doesn't really view mental health. The that like america's mental health. It took me a while to realize that. I was having mental health problems that i was kind of experiencing depression. Depression affects a staggering number of people hundreds of millions worldwide according to a study published in the peer reviewed journal the lancet in two thousand eighteen. The pandemic didn't make things any easier. Last june about a third of people who responded to web based surveys said they suffered from symptoms of depression or anxiety disorder. Those results were published by the centers for disease control and prevention the protocol for treating these conditions hasn't changed much in the past few years. What we've been using is typically one of two things either a medication that people take every day or we have psychotherapy dr. Alan davis is clinical psychologist and an assistant professor at the ohio state university. He's also an adjunct assistant. Professor at johns hopkins university. A lot of people will improve with either medication or therapy or both to basically have both have a better chance but it doesn't work for everyone. Some studies report between ten and thirty. Five percent of patients suffer from treatment resistant. Depression and davis is that similar to what he's found in his own practice working with veterans suffering from substance abuse trauma and other mental health issues. So he began looking for alternative treatments present and welcome to psychedelic science. Two thousand and thirteen in twenty thirteen davis attended a science conference and came across a study exploring the use of silla. Sivan a chemical compound found in specific varieties of mushrooms to treat cancer patients with mental health conditions. The compounds documented facts include feelings of heightened awareness ecstasy visions and changes in the perception of reality for researchers say one of the most useful qualities is its ability to dissolve the ego to allow a user to observe oneself from the outside in the study of cancer patients. The drug was able to alleviate some of the anxiety and depression that can be associated with having a life threatening illness. I was just inspired by that word. I thought gosh this really could have a strong impact in the areas that i'm working with veterans and with others davis became part of a team of researchers at johns hopkins university that put together a randomized clinical trial. Twenty four participants. They were administered. Silla sivan with talk therapy to treat their depression. Enrollment for the trial took place in two thousand seventeen and twenty nineteen and the results were analyzed in two thousand twenty. Most of them had had chronic depression meaning decades of experiencing depression though not some had had it for shorter amount of time but this study was a weightless control trials so some people came in and started treatment right away. Others had to wait eight weeks before starting treatment so we had a comparison group. The study subjects received an extensive intake examined questionnaire to confirm. They were suffering from symptoms of depression. Participants were screened for schizophrenia. And drug use as these conditions can interfere with suicide and treatment. The big worry many people have about psychedelics is what's often referred to as a bad trip. Mary negative hallucinations. That can be scary and this is kind of trip that can go bad. Martissant received hefty doses of these drugs. The doses are based on weight and they vary slightly but patients receive around twenty milligrams in the first session a bit more in the second session to minimize the risk of a negative experience. Davis says researchers focused on controlling. What's called and setting. They work ahead of time to ensure the volunteers current mood and surroundings while taking the drugs. Remain as calm and comfortable as possible and so we spend about eight to ten hours with people before they ever get the drug talking about what the effects are talking about. What may or may not happen when they have this experience and that's why we have to train professionals there with them not only to prepare them for that but to help them through the experience when it happens because a lot of people have anxiety coming into the session. The person we spoke to the twenty nine year old participated in davis study group in august of two thousand eighteen. They had no prior experience with psychedelic drugs and didn't know watch expect basically went in kind of blindly. I don't have any other options. So that's kind of my thought process at the time was just basically kind of sticking anything to the wall and hoping it would work after fasting the previous night the treatment can cause nausea. They were placed in a small tranquil room fitted with a comfy couch. The whole room was a really really cool in very comforting because like they had like these statues like imagery in their end like. I think one of the muslim dowa tibetan model. I wanna say this and like there was like this nice lamp. It's off this really. Soft light psychedelic assisted. Therapy participants are encouraged to bring in objects from home to make them feel more comfortable. Some bring in ten bears pictures of family. The twenty nine year old brought a lightness of an ancient sumerian goddess. Soon nana once they were settled in the room. They were given two pills in a wooden cop the therapists top that the sivan would take fifteen to thirty minutes to start working. In the interim they were told to put on ice shades and headphones. That would play a selection of music they choose from classical tibetan chanting african drumming and modern music too. Once the drug fact the participants says the first session became a kaleidoscope of mental images and sensations. I remember being in lake. Felt like mount olympus the fall of the gods like oval the clouds and suffering them. And then one of my god's up to me and she gave me a key fell through the clouds. And i felt all the way down through the earth and i ended up in hell which is really strange because they don't remember being scared even though i was in hell and i remember asking like hey you know why am i hair And it was like haiti's leading me through hell kind of just like showing me around for life this very cold and desolate last. He was like of course. This is where you would come like. This is where you've made your home. The self revelations continued throughout this long session and turned intensely personal. I remember like hearing like the beats. Come on and i felt myself in like this place like all of my ancestors were and i was really close to my grandfather when i was a kid. And he died. Probably around when i was like four and i saw him kind of materialize And he walked towards the youth like these. She'll bananas which is what he's doing her then he handed one to me and i always kind of was afraid that if he was alive he would be disappointed in me and i remember asking him you know. When am i supposed to do like if my family like my parents and lake my siblings can accept me and he said that he'll always be there for me and my ancestors will always be there for me and i like that scene just like it. Metsu in mental to me after about seven hours than drugs started to wear off when it was over. You know you're still kind of like feeling it but just not as intensely so just basically like this really happy kind of floaty failing and we couldn't drive so like i had to have a sister pick me up. They ended the experience hungry and exhausted as for the depression not much appeared to have changed then. They tried the silla sivan trip once more this time with the stronger dose and after that these say they experienced to palpable shift. It felt like i was back into the world again like i was in reality. A lot of people said that not only was there. Depression differently felt like they had come out of dark hole that they've been in for years but a lot of people regardless of whether they're depression was gone or or reduced said that there was something really meaningful different about how they view their life initial results for the study reviewing outcomes from up to a month after the sessions were completed found that silla sivan plus therapy was more than four times more effective than other treatments. Such as medication alone at one week. Fifty eight percent of the sample were in complete remission from depression that actually lasted up to four weeks. After fifty four percent of people were in complete remission and were now studying those same people up to twelve months after to see how long that remission lasted the rest of the participants in the study. Were not in remission they were still experiencing clinically significant depressive symptoms researchers have yet to publish the results of longer term outcomes for all the participants their condition up to a year after treatment and this was a small study. Just twenty four people. Some scientists remain skeptical of this kind of treatment not just of silla simon. But of the validity of the data an outcomes for all studies involving psychoactive substances
