Those five guys all on a Zoom together, just cracking jokes. I'm ready. So there you go. On this podcast, it's the second annual My Guy Fantasy Draft. Craig Horlbeck, Danny Kelly, Danny Heifetz from The Ringer Fantasy Show. We're going to come on, and we're going to talk about all of our guys that we like, dislike, that we're afraid of in the fantasy football season, and then went to Cleveland to find Garrett Bush, who is kind of a big guy there. I got to say, he's kind of a guy. He's going to tell us what to expect from the Browns, who are the most confusing 2023 team. A lot of that has to do with Deshaun Watson, which Deshaun Watson, are we going to get? How do we feel about Deshaun Watson in 2023, just in general? And where is Cleveland Sports going? What's happened to them this century? All the good, all the bad. And he's going to lay all of it out for us. So this is a really good podcast. Can't wait. First, our friends from Pro Chip. All right, it's the second annual My Guy Fantasy Draft. Our Ringer Fantasy Show guys are here. Danny Kelly, Danny Heifetz, Craig Horlbeck, my rewatchables producer, always nice when he pops on the BS. So we did this last year. We didn't win any awards, but sometimes you don't need to win awards. Sometimes when something's great, when it works, you just kind of know it, and we're going to run it back. Heifetz, you want to explain what this gimmick is? Yeah, it's you text us a bunch of ridiculous categories and then we kind of build an entire show, right? No, it's fun, though. It's just like it's a draft, but it's not a draft. And then it's it's vibes. It's a vibes episode. Yeah, we can agree on this. The concept is like you go into a fantasy draft. We all have the same kind of guides, same kind of rankings, but it doesn't capture the love. It doesn't capture the irrational. I just believe in this guy. It doesn't capture Craig thinking that that Pickens is going to end up being Justin Jefferson this year. There's just some things he already is or fear PTSD from bad draft picks from the past. I actually listened to a lot of the pod we did last year, and it was pretty funny hearing some of the guys we were like completely enamored by that ended up being bust. And then there were some other ones that I was surprised by the accuracy of it. Danny Kelly, can you ever be right in a fantasy draft? Can you ever go perfect? One in a million. It's like picking stocks, you know, if you get one good one, then you're set. Last year, mine was Romandre. I listened to our show last year, too. Feel like I nailed that one. Didn't get some other ones right. So that's, you know, we don't have to re litigate those. But Romandre, I'm calling that one. The take I was proudest of last year was fearing Cooper Cup after the year that he had just not liking the scent of something. This is veteran experience. I've been doing fantasy, I think since like 1989, 1990, something like that. All right. So I'm going to rip through the categories here. And then we're going to go at them one at a time. This is not, it's a draft, but it's not a draft because if we all have the same guy for a category of two of us have it, it's fine. We're okay. Um, the categories are my one true love, the guy that we just liked the most, my crazy pills guy. Do you want to explain the crazy pills thing, Craig? Uh, I think it could go either way, right? It's either you feel like you're taking crazy pills because nobody else likes the guy you like, or it's the other way around where you feel like you're taking crazy pills because everybody likes this guy and you don't understand it at all. So there's a little variance on that one. You can go either way. There's the my I absolutely hate myself for doing this guy, which seems to happen over and over again in fantasy where you go in there, drive like, well, I'm not going to end up with Russell Wilson. Uh, that was the example I used last year. It could be the example you use again this year. I'm not even gonna spend a dollar for Russell Wilson. Then it gets to the 17th round. If you're in a booger eater draft or, you know, you have $5 left for five guys and it's like, ah, Russell Wilson, Sean Payton, and all of a sudden you have Russell Wilson and you have no idea how he ended up on your team. So that is the, my absolutely hate myself for doing this guy. Uh, there's the, I'm going to add this category. It's a little sub category. The I'm staying away from that whole team team. There's teams where you're just like, I'm out, I'm just blind out. I don't want one person from that team. I'll see, we'll see if we agree on that team. Then we have the, my shameless Homer pick guy. That's going to be really, I mean, Craig, you don't even have to go. Uh, although there could be their tickets like plus 500, but I think we know pick is going to be there. There's the, my, I wouldn't take him even if he was free guy. So you're putting them on your D and D do not draft list. I had McCaffrey as my guy for this last year, which looked brilliant for about six weeks. Then he got traded a machine of an offense. We have the, my, that 2022 booty call isn't happening again guy, which is a new category for this year. This is the, you stumbled into somebody in the free agent auction, maybe in November, you wrote them for a couple of weeks, some fond memories, but you know, as a one night stand or, you know, as a three week stand and you're not going back, then we have the, this is a classic one. The somebody's got to get points on that team guy. We just look at all the teams and like, well, I don't know. Everybody scores 300 someone's catching passes on that team. Someone's rushing for 970 yards. There is the, my sorry, I'm sorry. That's too rich for my blood guy where you look at the draft guide and you see some of the salaries next to the guys. Then you go wait at $47. So Najee Harris was my guy for this last year. And I was proud of that one. There's the, my $1 QB guy. You're not, he's not going to make it break a draft, but you're also kind of secretly stashing away in your head. And we all have our $1 QB. There is the, my I'd be afraid to look on Tuesday and see the red flag guy, which I've added this year. I didn't even tell you about this category. You take the guy and it's going great. Eloy Jimenez is the ultimate baseball example of this. It's going great. You're feeling awesome. And then you go on there on a Tuesday and there's the red flag with the yellow box that there's news. And you're just like, Oh no. Oh God, what happened? And there's certain guys who just, it happens every year. A cousin of that, the, my, I know there's a 99 % chance he's getting hurt again, but God damn, I can't resist this guy guy. Then we have the, my Cooper cup. It's a year after the year guy. So I named this category after Cooper cup. So who is it this year? They had their year last year. Don't do it again. Don't get sucked in five more. The my, I just want everyone on that offense. I don't care guy. The my it's a year too early, but fuck it guy. The my missionary position. We've all had him guy. The my, I fell for the preseason hype guy. And then finally the, my I'd never root for an injury, but he is one injury away. That guy. All right. So we're going to start with my one true love. We're going to go and we're going to go on one, two, three, four on the zoom. And then for the second round, then the second guy will go, Danny Kelly, you're up. All right. My one true love. Who is it? I got to go with Tony Pollard for the Cowboys. I'm irrationally in love with this guy. I've been saying it. I think there's nothing you can say. It convinced me that he's not the best player in the NFL. Like, like just pound for pound, the best player in the NFL. Um, you know, last year he finished as the RV seven this year. He's going to be playing, I think more snaps, getting way more opportunities. If he can get up to like the same level of opportunities as Ekeler and CMC, you know, cause he's in that style of runner. I think this guy could finish as a top three running back in the NFL. And so I am, I'm just like full as a gentleman said, full bloom in love with Tony Pollard. I just can't, I can't help it. So in the ringer fantasy guide, he's 13th right now and he's gone for $42 in auction. So you think that's low? Yeah, I would, I would, I actually had Pollard too. Wow. We all have Pollard. Wait, did you too, Krik? I'm scared now. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's, well, that's, that's, this is a sign that, yeah, this is a terrible sign, but I just, I mean, just to pile on to DK stats here, Zeke had 12 touchdowns last year and Nick and Tony Pollard was a top 10 running back. Like what else do you need to hear? Like every time Tony Pollard was on the field, he was the best running back in the league. And now Zeke's gone. Like I rest my case. This is the pregame show where they all pick the same team to win a football and then that team loses. So you should probably stay away from Tony Pollard. Wait. So all three of you had Tony Pollard for this? Yeah, I can give you some. We did not discuss this before coming on. I didn't expect that. Oh, my God. Talk about groups and Jesus. You know, it's, you know, what sucks about this is that means when I have my big auction draft in a week and all my friends are going to be listening to this. And when Tony Pollard comes up, I'm not going to get them because they're all going to bid them up for $57 if I want to get them. Well, Bill's like, oh my God. Well, here's the argument. Rich Rebar, who works for Warren Sharpe, he's at Sharpe Football Analysis and he is a really good comp, which is basically Melvin Gordon was playing ahead of Austin Eckler for years. And everyone's begging for Austin Eckler to get the job. And then Austin Eckler finally got the job and the charges got rid of Melvin Gordon. And then Austin Eckler still wasn't really a first round pick. And we talked ourselves out of it. We hemmed it on. This is Tony Pollard again. It's like Zeke is finally after five years out of Dallas. And we're like, yeah, any point you get Tony Pollard, that's actually crazy. Like, honestly, you could get him for forty five bucks. Austin Eckler is going to go for 60. Tony Pollard would probably just be better than Austin Eckler this year. I kind of genuinely mean this. Tony Pollard should maybe be the first pick in fantasy football. Right? You can convince me. Kind of genuinely. Well, he does have a great offensive line. There are going to be a couple of games against bad teams where he, you know, you have him on Thanksgiving or something and he puts up the four touchdown hundred and eighty yard game. I can see it. So I guess I'm up then because you guys all agreed. You can have anybody you want. My one true love this year, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, who I also like for MVP. So. Last year, he missed two games and they also blew out what what was a D .K. like seven, eight team, seven, eight games where they just like in the fourth quarter, they didn't even really have to play offense. They're just kind of running out of the string. Yeah, I don't think their defense is going to be as good this year. Sheila Kapadia on the on the NFL show has been talking about this. I think it's to be better than he thinks, but it won't be as good on it. And their schedule is tougher. But, you know, is it possible that he's like a four thousand one thousand guy with some sort of combination of 40 to D like everyone agrees they have the best offensive line in the league. Everyone agrees the one to A .J. Brown, Devonta Smith punch is way up there. And I'm saying like Schrager on TV this week was saying Devonta Smith, this is the year he jumps up to the chase class. So we have that with Dallas Goddard, who everybody thinks is the best all around tight end in the league, the guy who actually blocks and plays three downs, running backs, whatever. Put anyone behind there and they'll gain 80 yards. And then he's going to get a lot of the goal line carries. I think he's my top QB this year. I think I would take him before everybody else. So I don't even think it's that controversial. What do you think of that one? He is, I think you're right. I think the key point you have there is that he barely played in the fourth quarter last year. That's the key thing. He was already in a per game basis. He was the best quarterback in fantasy last year and he barely played the fourth quarter. Yeah. So you could argue he hasn't even reached the ceiling yet. He's our number one guy on the guide right now, I believe. Shameless plug for fantasyfootball .300 .com. He's our 21st player. We have like all our rankings there. And yeah, he has the highest floor and the highest ceiling. My favorite stat about Jalen Hurts, other than 18 rushing touchdowns in 18 games last year, Jalen Hurts had more games over 30 points than under 20. That's everything you want in a quarterback. Well, so he's number one in our guide, but I still feel like in a draft, Mahomes is going over him because of the Mahomes. It's just the most fun to have Mahomes. The R. And I actually think that's a little nuts this year. DK, Hurts is I think either 12 to 1 or 11 to 1 on FanDuel for MVP. And I think those odds are the most out of whack of all the MVP odds, because that's, if you're going to say the MVP is going to come from an awesome team, they're probably one of the five teams that has a chance to go 13 and 4, 14 and 3, something like that. He, they have the most talent on offense, I think, of any team that's going to be in the MVP conversation and we've seen him get better every year. So why is he 11 to 1, 12 to 1? Shouldn't he be like 6 to 1, 7 to 1? Shouldn't it be where Josh Allen is? I don't, is it just because of the previous like impressions that he was a, what was he a third round pick or second round pick and maybe hold on to that for too long? Or maybe it's just because he's surrounded by such a good team. I don't know. But yeah, like you said, he's improved pretty much every season he's been playing, even going back to college. You know, from everything that we've heard, he is maniacal about like working and leadership and just all the things, all the intangibles. And then, of course, you know, if he takes a jump as a passer this year, you know, that's going to be huge for him because he's already like one of the best running quarterbacks. He's double digit rushing touchdowns in the last two years. You know, everything about him screams just, you know, like the face of the franchise season. He's everything they want. And so I could see it like from a narrative point of view, for sure. It reminds me of what you used to have with Russell Wilson when he was alive.

Lbj has been a huge disappointment. for cleveland. i don't know where you go with that denver at four and four big deal. They stink teddy bridgewater not getting done. That offense for the doll for the Broncos not any good we can be taking a look at a team like oh. I don't know screw at the indianapolis colts who come out and do some things in terms of turn their season around. We don't know we don't know the afc a complete cluster. Fuck we don't know who's going to be doing what from week to week to week to week. But hey you know what. The best reality show in. Television is the nfl. And that's that's one of the great things you know. This is steven seagal movie from the eighties where that man never got touched. Mandela got hurt and eat broken bone every villains body and he came away looking cool and all that kind of nonsense at the end of the flake. We don't know what's going to be happening with the los angeles rams von miller. We don't know what's going to be happening with tampa bay if they're ever going to recover and get back some of their arrests Secondary guys. we don't know what's going to be happening with safer is at the arizona cardinals. Are they going to rise or fall from their first loss of the season. We don't know what's going to be happening with the cincinnati bengals. They're going to be able to rebound from that loss against the new york jets. We don't know what's going to be happening. Even if the cleveland browns get some of their players some of the key players back healthy. We don't know what's going to be happening with the pittsburgh steelers. If ben rothlisberger could just turn back the time a little bit of najji harris can carry that offense enough for the defense to do some things for the pittsburgh steelers to become true contender for the afc of. We don't know if the baltimore ravens are going to Go ahead and do some things. Put the more talent behind lamar jackson. Half the wide receivers become more consistent. Mark andrews can get a little bit of a break and stop catching all of the passes. That lamar jackson throws out there. We don't know exactly what's going to be happening again. That's what makes the nfl so down fund..

"Regard this season they had to espn stats and information. This is interesting. The most second-half drops by any team since they've been charting the statistic of since two thousand six Najji harris alone dropped four passes in the second half but that was on that on that fourth down everybody was up on the line and he correctly guessed that they would drop back right and when you drop back into a picket fence zone. Which is the bengals did they. You know they dropped the four guys back with jim. Swartz used to do a lot on third downs and they guard the first down marker the play call a lot of times the right play called there is some sort of like screen or something to busted up and the the i think the decision was actually sound. Because what you wanted to do was get nashi harris with a head of steam running at that picket fence coverage and you wanted your offensive linemen to get off their blocks to get ahead of him. That was the plan it was. It was executed horribly like it went very wrong but i agree with his point which was what like what else he said afterwards. He wished that in hindsight he would have taken a shot but he said it in a way that like. I don't think i would have been able to do anything right. So what is the higher percentage. Play there to try to smash nausea hairs into A a pick zone. Or if you're ben rothlisberger to like cut waffle in the backfield slowly for a little while and then just missile one ten yards downfield. I don't know the answer to that. But typically against picket zone coverage a screen is like the call. That's what you would want to do. And so that was like a very poorly thought out very poorly executed like pseudo screen in that in that regard. I'm side with gary On this one. But i will remain calm and give it a chance. Qatar summation of the column. And so don't agree with that. You know you disagree with holy smokes. I'm over two. So 'cause i basically summarized my chiefs column earlier. Jenny called an interesting. Which is you know. One of the most dangerous insulted her vocabulary. Very kind wonderful person and then straight out disagree with this one. Like i don't know i better check my employment status but i will say this. The result today has sparked a lot of takes about. Should we have been talking about ben all along the steelers decision to stick with him. And i think that's fair on some level but it will also say a loss offensive lineman in game which certainly didn't help them on plays like the one we're just describing and also they were down both. Tj watt and alex. Hightower this is after losing bud duprey in the off season and certainly their defense has looked a lot different with what out so i think the last game and a half since what has been sidelined. They haven't had one of their biggest chances to win. Which is one of the best defensive players in the nfl. so i think it's too early to be making definitive conclusions on the steelers. Either way.

"The eleven team from last year. That or the least the first eleven wins of the season. The last undefeated remaining team from last year when eleven and start the season. Are they going to be the one in four team. That finished the season regular season then got bounced and spanked out of the playoffs by the browns. They could be either one shrug emoji. no idea. Well they showed up in western new york yesterday. In one of those defensive slobber knockers it was not pretty offensively at all and it came out. With the w and josh allen through fifty one times he lost a fumble sure he ran it forty four yards. I mean those are josh allen numbers with the exception of two hundred seventy yards. Not the game. On tell. Just only one touchdown. Sixteen points given up he targeted digs fourteen. Times digs only sixty nine yards receiving. The running game was once again. You know if he when it needed to be leaned on for balanced single. Terry hata decent game zack. Moss a shocking healthy scratch. it appeared. He didn't play and the steelers defenseman even with. Tj watt signed at the last minute devon. Bush hurt from last year boy. Do they come in and they do that thing. Najji harris held less than fifty yards rushing. Right for wasn't even off the charts. Did he did just enough. One of those steelers wins. Like how do that only they did it offense. They did it with defense. Kept the by the bills off balance and this is going to be a non ice tiebreaker. To have in their back pocket may not need it may not need it but it's going to be one of those nice tiebreakers to have in their pocket for the next seventeen weeks. Lay it on a table next january. I guess he's got to come. The pittsburgh has said about having to go back to to western new york. Pittsburgh steelers have that tiebreak in their back pocket. Because that's just reeked of of a divisional playoff battle just hitting with haymakers and then one score feeling like it's nine scores like how you're gonna make up that score that you just gave up that sort of feel to it and if that things near the comp next the confluence as opposed to western new york. That could be all the difference. We're wondering who are the steelers and the bills. There's seventy four weeks ago you know. It's just one week. We'll have reaction monday later on. But that was not picking up where they left off that is for sure not to pick up where they left off situation and the steelers. Just turn a page and had a very very difficult week one challenge and they pass that audition nice impressive win there and the arizona cardinals are another team. That impressed the hell out of me. Kyle murray and chandler. Jones became the first team duo with five more offensive touchdowns murray had four in the air. One on the ground and five or more sacks in a single game never happened since we started recording the stat of sax in one thousand nine hundred eighty two. We've never seen it. Oh and channel. Jones tossed two forced fumbles on top of it. Jj watt on that line now. First time de'andre hopkins had multiple receiving touchdowns in a game. The arizona cardinals. Let's go. He had six of one with texans houses. Is i with the cardinals. Oh aetna christian kirk had one to first time at carl's franchise history where multiple receivers. Each had multiple receiving touchdown games. Chase edmunds house. The running back situation could be now right. Kenyan drake scon-. What's it gonna. Look like with chase edmunds in the lead role. Sixteen touches one hundred. Six scrimmage yards third most scrimmage yards in a game in his career. Check that box all in tennessee. All in tennessee where they looked like they need to go back to the offensive coordinator drawing board and see what they could do. Scheme was to figure something out arthur. Smith's gone it just looked completely off balance. obviously an off game for tannahill. Who is hector. you know. our boy taylor lewan tweeted out. That was a bad game he owned. It couldn't protect fifty eight rush yards for derrick henry second fewest games it's twenty twenty eric dickerson. Wherever he's sitting right now laughing at me saying that he's gonna get his speech ready about. It's an asterisk whatever it is. It's an asterisk fifty six out of the gate. Fifty eight out of the gate for twenty two community. Make up for that one with a nice three hundred yard or against jacksonville. That's common could happen. Because tyrod taylor scored on them and i know i could include the texans here for most impressive win of week one because we did not see them winning at all. Nope we did not see the texans winning at all let alone as we sit here talking about the cardinals saints and steelers. Having the most impressive wins in week one. Houston texans have a one game lead in the afc south over everybody else about 'cause everybody else loss and they withdraw taylor david johnson and brandin cooks. You know like the island of loss. Football players night altogether teaching urban meyer and trevor lawrence. What the nfl stands for on occasion. Just want to point out ridge. Who else was wanna know the jacksonville jacksonville. Behind the Steel Curtain

"A stress on the buffalo of defense. Because they have to think about how they want to handle that or we're gonna we're gonna to line-up in a traditional sense with our our corner or out there on that running back Are we going to put a linebacker out there on him and now bring a corner inside where maybe he asked the now. Cover a tight end. Something along those lines Simple things like that. Which an offense can do very easily. Without having to completely overhaul their scheme create A lot of stress for defense. And then then you start motioning shifting in moving guys around then you start changing your personnel groups. I mean the steelers were just. They were so eleven personnel heavy last year and a defense had such a good idea about all right. Well here's who's going to be on the field and so you know here's how we're going to line-up to them and that it just we just didn't make it hard on defenses last year I think the steelers have the personnel this year to be one of the most multiple offenses in the league. They can go twelve personnel because they got to really good tight ends in iran and firemen with They can go thing. Go three tight ends if they want. I mean as because agent gentry. I thought blocks really well in the in the preseason. They can go five they can go. Four wides nausea harris. Split out I mean the they can use. Derek watt. who's. I think underused last year. I mean there's an awful lot of talent on that offensive roster that if you get creative with the way that you use that talent you're gonna put a lot of stress on defense. I'm really hoping to see that. From canada absolutely in a. Here's one guy that i want to bring up. But before i do that. We know that. Ben roethlisberger is paramount in this game and we know what najji harris needs to do to open some things up but with the corner and you talked about johnson and of course davis white and jordan. Hoyer had a good game against pittsburgh last year as well. I mean they are loaded in the defensive backfield. My thought is that eric hebron and to a lesser extent. Pat fryer really need to exploit the middle. And i think iran could be the guy to have a lot of success if he could hold onto the ball and i think he's actually a lot better at holding onto the ball and a lot of people think that he is but i really feel that he could exploit that medal and he's going to need to have a good day for the steelers to really make some hay on offense. Am i off. Base there now men. The bills are ripe to be play actions because they are so aggressive with their linebackers Terrain admits is a downhill backer. Man he is he is coming to attack the run and then matt milano. He's not a big duties. He's listed six foot two twenty five something around the around their bronze six five five or six five or maybe even six six. You got some guys with some size advantages. That steelers can get the buffalo backers aggressive against the run Or they can scheme them so that you can now get maybe a fire or or ibran matched up all milano. You got a big advantage right there that you that you can exploit so yeah absolutely. I'm i'm a huge advocate of tight ends in the passing game. There's a reason why so many teams in the nfl are now trying to add. These sort of hybrid. You know these flex tight engineers move tight ends whatever you wanna call him and it's because they create they create match problems and when you get a gallic fire moves Block end catch than You know you can use him however many ways that you can think of on the white board you know and so that should be a really interesting to look for this week. Well absolutely great analysis. I appreciate it you know. I have already gone on record of what my pick is going to be. And i picked the buffalo bills thirty pittsburgh twenty four but after this last half hour in this conversation for the pregame show. You have me wanting to change it completely. I can't because then the The stat geek. And the editor. They'll be all over me for not being consistent. So i'm gonna stick exactly where i am but you have me feeling it so i'm gonna ask you your score for this game as we get ready to wrap things up. Well you know. As i talked about being optimistic and then all the things. I'm excited i'm also picking the bills so and it's not because i i don't you know it's up. I don't like the steelers team. It's just that I don't think they're ready to win in buffalo in week one because buffalo's bringing back pretty much their entire squad from last year the steelers that a tremendous amount of change especially now when you think about the offensive on but the the key to to really winning the football game beyond you know what candidates able to scheme up is just going to be how well can the steelers run the football control the clock play action the bills You know they they have not run it well again. The past two years and they've lost both both times. I don't know if the offensive line is ready to tell you. I mean that'd be the first time that these guys have ever played a real game together. And i think the steelers are going to get better as the season goes. I think they're going to be a team like you alluded to earlier that they might lose him buffalo week one but if they see the bills in the playoffs it might be a whole different story because i expect the steelers to be much better team in december january than they're going to be on the first weekend september so i had the bills winning twenty seven twenty. I think it's going to be really good game. But a game. In which inevitably. I think the steelers would just be a little bit short alright. It's earlier. let's wrap this up if you were going to give them a quick fifteen second pre game speech. You're talking to the steelers to get them ready. What are you saying to them. Do your job do your job. I mean you can. You can give the greatest Motivational speech in the history of football. The best one i've ever seen is al pacino in any given sunday. That's a great hollywood speech where he talks about. You know defending every inch in the blood and sweat and all that it takes to defend every inch the field. It's help speech and it made me want to run through a.

"You're asking for tonight you. Oh goodness okay If you prefer if you can do whatever you want man is fine. I definitely like it's not like i wrote up this problem right like i written up this entire weekend. Like i've got to do the podcast up like that. Somebody else can take this game you. Of course they're all about this game which is fine. I get it the entire thing. I i'm going to be the worst radio gets in the world because i'd be lying about like yeah. Man makes it the captain. Who are you leaning towards. So i can tell you terrible. Antonio brown is the collar. Good then we're on the same page. I think that tonio brown sending like there is a place that i want target. Everything like that for the captain. That's totally buying for the captain. Let's go with brown. Make it easy for me. I love it all right to to bring it back onto a gambling perspective. Tony brown is projected at fan at fifty eight and a half receiving yards over under on that all right hold on. Let me pull my project. And sorry i just take my kid up off the bus and that craziness going on right here with the storms get. How much was it. Oh god how much wasn't that. Fifty eight and a half yardage for tony brown. I mean i've got my projections. Okay and again. I've made this clear when i rank. I don't blindly go by my projections. My prediction sorta come out of a system. That i designed and i make but sometimes there guys like brown who i like probably a little bit more than my production for which is fifty six point eight receiving yards on the day so i i have to go under i have to go into but again round is the guy who i expect. Get plenty of looks in this game. I wouldn't be surprised you went over but again this just not one that i would go near personally. You have the numbers here in front of you said cd. Lamb for the cowboys. Sixty one and a half yardage. I would lean on the under of that. Just because of all the hype around cd lamb. But what's your projection for cd lamb. Now i'm over seventy two for me. That's one where. I would go over and again look. It's not the bucks. Have great defense overall their heart. Top against the rush even there against the past but they are going to need to throw right. I mean brady come on. Man brady celebrating super bowl. They're going to have a good time here. They're gonna put up points back is going to need to throw. Cd lamb is about to put up a monstrous an absolutely monster season and i. I'm not sure that he's going to go crazy. Absolutely crazy in this game. But he is the guy. And especially with cooper still kind of recuperating from his little you know whatever ankle injury right there gallup. I like you find as well. I wouldn't mind what's his prop actually gallup over on that too. I just went off of it. Hold on let me okay. I can grab really quickly. I was just. I thought about the bad forty nine or something like that. That's what i'm looking at it earlier. It's yeah it's forty nine and a half for like oh gallup. Yeah i would go over on that too. I i haven't projected for fifty nine. So i think that the the market right now is a little bit undervaluing. What the cowboys are going to do. Offensively because again. I think they're going to be playing from behind. I think is going to have a very difficult time running the ball given just what we know about that bucks run defense. It's going to have to go somewhere right. I mean zone somewhere. And you know. I think gallup ofo gallup can do that in a play right. That's the big thing without no matter where you are in the fourth quarter you get three receiving yards. That's one play for the detroit out. So i like the over on both those receiving proper interesting. I got one question. We didn't hear from the text line at seven zero two seven five one matt. Where do you have cuyler murray this week. What's your projection for. Murray the quarterback of the cardinals. Yeah i mean. I think that the top tier of quarterbacks right now are gonna be fantastic. I've murray my fourth-ranked quarterback got him four. Two hundred sixty eight passing yards two passing touchdowns and forty three rushing yards and again the rushing yards could smash that right. He can go way past that. It's really hard to predict the russian quarterbacks and what they're gonna do. When you look at the difference in fantasy points between lamar jackson josh allen tyler murray just all massive studs this week. I think you're gonna have huge games and have zero concerns at all again. That's going to be a high scoring game. I even like the over at fifty two and a half man. I know it's high. Don't care i think neither defense can stop either offense so i think there's a ton of scoring in that game. Yeah i'm i- kicking myself. Because i i could've gotten fifty one and a half. I took fifty two. I know so. Yeah i'm kicking myself on that. But i think you're not getting that i think you're i think you're still safe. I if as long as below fifty three. I'm fine i'm fine and time for one more. Quick one najji harris start or not this coming weekend definitely start like euro hesitation start like absolutely get him in the light of the bills have an excellent defense but they are much better against the past much much better so i have a little hesitation with all of the feelers wide receivers now at nause. Get him in there. He is a top ten running back without question. No hesitation interesting my friend. This is a lot of fun and now it's been a crazy day for you. I always appreciate your time and your insight. We'll do it again next week. Calloway man look forward to it. That is dan harris at dan harris eighty on twitter to follow him. You're listening to pushing the odds on the sports map radio network howard by o'reilly auto parts and rocket mortgage live from las vegas. Here's matt paroled. Dan harris there from fancy pros every thursday. Damn join us here on pushing the odds. I'm annoyed with myself. Because coastal carolina has jumped up to minus twenty six and a half against kansas. For tomorrow night i just. I think i'm save up to twenty eight but this is the only game all weekend that even considering laying this type of chalk it. Kansas stole bad. And i love grayson mccaw laying twenty six and a half points for a non power five k. u. Is god awful on the road but can they keep it within four bleeping touchdowns i dunno in so i. I might have to pass on this game. I don't want to pass on this game. I don't think the total to me k. You scores like thirteen points so the question is can i get thirty. Plus can i get forty out of coastal. That's my concern. Like we talking about numbers like this. I need forty two ten win for coastal carolina. Like i know coastalss ranked. i know. They're really good. I know they got their quarterback back. I know they got their running back back. I understand all that. I'm just like man really k. Us on the road k. Us really bad. But last year when kansas played coastal the line was ku minus six. Kansas was favored now. Costa was on the road but k. You was favored and now coastal is laying twenty six and a half points. It's going to be a really hard veal. A part of me wants to just hold my nose intake. Kansas and take the twenty six and a half points. Like just let this number climb and take indus. Go against everyone and take kansas. So i i don't know what to do with this game i. It's the only game. Because i'm not touching boise in utah. I don't really like boise state. I bet against them against central florida. They played hard but they lost in las by five. We cover that four and a half point bet even though it closed at six you tap has been kinda salty this year and looked halfway decent against mexico state but that's new mexico state mexico states horrible so like i don't know what to do with that game and going to the blue turf utech on the road. It's not cold yet in boise. But it's still going to be an interesting environment tough environment view tip to walk into. But do i wanna lay. Twenty six points with boise not particularly. Do i trust boise to cover. Twenty six points not particularly so i don't know what to do. I got twenty six and twenty six and a half. I got big games or big numbers. Two games on friday. My gut says. Stay away. But i might need to get involved just a little bit more to come here on thursday..

"I have zeke zeke. Six out of that six. I trust in the least. I trust his team. The least i trust him the lease and i don't think that's going to be very good cowboys team. And if i by the way as as low as i always say this if you're in around by round draft like you're eating burgers and you're probably living in your mom's basement but if you are around by round draft and i have the six pick on like fuck. I hope i hope i don't end up with. Zeke elliott would be my my take. What do you think. It's i'm giants fan and actually would take the third this year because i agree with crowd. The top tier is mccaffrey. Delvin cook and you can argue about what a tear means but to me. It's those are the top two guys because if you take injury out of it. I have no question. That they're going to be elite. Like non with mccaffrey and cook only intriguing. Stop them the other guys is just a series of questions of things that are outside of their control for lack of a better term zeke. My only question is production is going to play with this weird pitching injury. I don't like yeah when someone is. But i think that's a fair question. Can his quarterback eight throw a ball and be stay on the field for board four games. Yeah and the offensive line. Dallas isn't always healthy but the other guys always questions to right and so you've got camera at the questions again. It's basically scored a touchdown a game for entire career. He's basically top three. Or four all time touchdown sorts greer. If you're he's leaves. James takes over the offense. Isn't that good and four weeks. Like oh chimeras not scoring touchdown a game. And he's kinda average like david montgomery but like with a cooler name. It's like a pretty dumb we're just we're ranking kamera as if breezes still on the team i think and i think that's the problem we're assuming nothing will change but breezes like the most efficient quarterback ever chimeras scored sixty touchdowns in sixty games now. You fucking jameis. Winston who never checks down those deep. All the time has turnovers. We're not going to score as many points tastes them. Hills gonna get red zone. Russia's that's the other thing is you throw into triple coverage and that's the thing it's not like i'm not saying don't draft late first rounder. I'm concerned that if the offense is worse again he's not committed not in eighty five percent snap skies sixty five percent of snaps scott And when you stop going touchdowns that that matters. It's why do before we go what running back would move into that top sex like by the end of the air will will be saying decay That guy we should have had them in the top. Six i regret is it najji harris for you. Yeah and if it's not nauseousness where talked about him. I think has a pretty good argument. Basically because of what we just talked with alvin kamara like he's gonna be the alvin kamara for the chargers. I think you know with that offense. Herbert showed a willingness. And you know like he wanted to check down a lot. Yup late in the season when actor came back is almost to the detriment of their offense. I think is gonna get fed in the passing game You know he could catch eight passes plus he's just really explosive You know. I don't know what their offense is gonna look like really but you know you got the The lombardi style. Coming from coming from new orleans and i think you know the way that they used alvin. Kamara is how they're gonna use echo so he could be the guy that you look at you like. Why weren't we hire on this guy early on or he could be the guy you're looking at because they're showing them on the sidelines. Were extremely close in week. Six near like. Oh my gosh towards dollars for him. He has a torn labor as he played six games in a row and his career can't remember he has cruiser. Who's your guy. Damian harris dodgy harris are equa to move into that group Probably nadia harris. I there's like a good chance. That naji harris like leads the league touches which is kind of say i think if he was drafted second like saquon was he'd be a top five pick and drafts right now. Kind of like clyde last year. I think we're all anxious guard blood. Yeah scarred from clyde he was a late first round or if you went second in the draft he'd be a top five picture. Yeah i like hyphen says. Eighty five percent of the touches stat. That that i think that's fair like if you end up running back who is involved in plays all the time constantly. That's why. I like antonio gibson and you think he's gonna. I know you were about mckissick. But i just think gibson is going to have to be on the field and that team actually has a chance to be good all right so you have a few more pods coming. And then when we move into the season wins your big gambling. Props preseason pod sarah yeah okay And they were moving into the season. And we've got a lot of stuff going and you could check.

"Not you it's me. What are the guys that broke up with. What never had was clyde. Edward solaire who went for fifty nine dollars in my keeper league last year and i just don't see it like at some point with the eye test when you're watching football like he just seemed too small to me and it to me he just seems like a third down back and i just don't see it and then people that don't know he's hurt and it's going he's going to be better but you know when you compare somebody like kim. Last year did najji harris this year. Nadia harris seems like a monster. I did thank. You can compare those guys know. There's certainly different running backs and i. I have harassed higher. I've paris option running back. I'm number ten. And i layer missy where i don't know my rankings. Memorize alert fifteen. So i'm slightly lower mature rb to. Here's the thing about. Here's the guy you know. Still got a decent amount of work right. Sixty six percent of the chiefs running back such last year were free leers Or allaire you know. G- average sixteen fantasy points per game in the eight games and when she got so when he got such. That's well the prog for him was two fold number. One is got touchdowns and you can say unlucky. Also got closely couldn't convert japan's a smaller guy The other problem is an also kim's video like all sudden like you know. Travis chelsea is in the backfield and they do the shovel pass. They do tyreek hill on sleep. They get really creative. You know and Around the around the goal line Andy reid nuts. That's another challenge for him but the other piece of it is is that i think he came in with such height was actually fine last year. You know he's really twenty points for gang was he was a top twenty running back and that was with you. Know getting very unluckily cussons. The problem is is that everyone came in with a high of having an item is a top seven guy later. Like alvin kamara. Basically right yeah. That's what we thought he was going to be. And so he's a really interesting guy this year because he could just be. That could just be like you know more about like you know a more of a pass catching back where rock complimentary back than it's worse on the other hand. It's the i n running back. That hasn't been fantasy. Relevance like has been a top twelve guy in a long time any rebate coral buckhalter. At one point he made you know Why am i sure. Kendrick west he made sure kendra west thing kendrick west era. Yeah exactly everyone does. You're wearing your jersey right now. I i just you know. So i'm fifteen which is a little bit of a hedge candidly. That cares more. Because that's where i am as well you like harris more and i think i a quite a bit. That's despite his no. What are the odds on sheriff's leading. Nfl jerry's oh leading on carries. I don't have that. But i do have I do have yet rushing awards. Hold on. I think it was around. Twenty two one. It was around the same as what damon harris. Plus i would say that is i would smash now art. Because.

"I want and this is what makes me upset. All nuances lost I still things just team like i. I think the defense good. I think the front step is gonna fire and i had some questions about the secondary. Don't need to get into all that but offensively. I said this. I think but my words were taken out of context but ross springer look good like it was literally i only got mad at someone because they pointed to would terrible deep ball but like he doesn't have to have a great deep ball for this offense to be efficient. Drew brees proved that to us for two years They just need to the most important thing. And i think every steelers fan would agree with me is he just needs more than two point. Two seconds throw it. Some of that is on him but a lot of most of its on the offensive line. And i think there's things that matt canada can do schematically to buy him a little bit of time. I was intrigued. By the fact that i've been rosberg under center. A little bit in the preseason outing as back turned to the defense which is not something he does. So i think you know they're in and i also think the use of motion is gonna help najji harris and you know keep linebackers a little bit until and get them out of their fits. I don't know i. I think this could be an average enough offense and if the defense is anywhere close to what they were last year that there's a team that's potentially a wildcard team. You're right it all centers on the group upfront. Though and it's weird. Because i'm gonna kinda talk out of both sides of my mouth here where i go into this season and you know. I'm pretty friendly with the numbers community here. I believe in all these things in it but man. I really want nashi. Here's to rub it in the face. A lot of these nerds talked about explosiveness with him. Like i just really want him to go out there and eating the ways that he can but it was a pick. I wouldn't have made in the first round like that capital needed to go towards that offensive line kendrick green who they picked out of eleanor. I think it's gonna start at center for them. It looks like here so it's gonna be him trade turner dotson at left guard. And then you've got banner and a core fort left tackle left. Tackle the one that concerns someone that he was not good. I was he was the one i was watching. Yeah i mean it's him like re of the of the games. I re watched yesterday of teams. That need to worry about their starting left. Tackle him in miami. Austin jackson is not good enough like he's just not good enough right now but core falls in where i look at the rest of that group and i say all right. I see things that you can kind of work with. Trae turner's played a bunch of football zach. Banner was the starter before the injury for them. Like kevin dotson. Who did that weird thing where people said. He was out of shape this off season as a monster. So it's it's young and upside based up front. They're the candidate step helps. I just wonder how long that works too. Because outside of his stay in the south side in that facility when he was at pitt matt canada's other ventures have not been quite as successful here so like skill players. Yes very much very very much. I up the harry. We do.

"Bronco's quarterback battle continues. teddy bridgewater. Got the opportunity to start this one and was outstanding Numbers wise. I mean great passer rating came out. Did the job hit. Hamblur on a touchdown converted fourth-down. Hit jerry judy in stride across the field where it was like. Oh yeah jerry was surprised like wait what i can get the ball right where i'm running. That's great but let's be realistic here because whether it's teddy or drew and we don't know when they'll declare starter. Maybe they'll take the sean payton approach and do it sooner than later. I mean this is a teddy was better in this game. I think drew lock was better in the last game But tatty so far four possessions in the preseason three touchdowns in a field goal has weapons. Does this matter to you. It doesn't matter in a real way in terms of how you're drafting judy sutton fant and company. Because if it doesn't it does matter to me with jerry judy. I don't think that jerry. Judy can't break out with one and will break out with the other. Some astronomically wide gap. That where someone's on or off my board. But i do think that the style of play teddy bridgewater has matches. Jerry judy fantastically. It's it's what i just said it's a hidden stride on these slants across the field. His teddy bridgewater is accuracy is far better than drew locks. Think about jerry jones rookie season. He was always open. And you brought this up. many times. He had i believe the lowest or the the highest of second green of pass catching passes. Yeah of of uncatchable passes and and that was drew lock. So that's the difference to me. If if if jerry duty is getting open and not able to catch the ball because it's not put on him That's not good for fantasy. You want to be able to catch the ball. So he's the one player where if they came out tomorrow and said teddy. Bridgewater is the starter. Because i have based on last week. Actually finally i held off the whole offseason but last week i changed major. Lock the starter. So if they were to come out and declare bridgewater the starter. I would be moving. Jerry judy up okay. Let's talk about some running backs. Let's talk about nause harris. He had a huge forty. Six yard. rumbling Kinda surpri speed on the edge reception where it didn't look like. It was going anywhere and then all of a sudden he breaks down the sideline and i mean he stiff armed a guy Think broke another tackled manage to juke the safety who was like ten yards away from him. It was it was announced standing catch and run. The i think the headline for me on on why now. She's in an rb one for me. Now he's he's at twelve and part of that has to do with how fluid the new offenses in pittsburgh. Big been looks great. Yes they offense. Looks great so i think we should talk about a holistically here with pittsburgh but everything looks great in pittsburgh right now. We know the defense is going to be good and Now she's going to be the lynchpin in the backfield so it's just math. I mean he's a talented first round running back on a team that the offense is looking good and big. Ben looks good they you. Mike tomlin utilizes a three down running back in his. I can just pure volume alone. Najji harris should be drafted as a running back one then build up side of what. If he's actually the player that the steelers believe. He isn't and drafted him in in the first round. Yes the offensive line stinks. I get it but the volume was going to be incredible. Big ben's arm looks lively and that's just one preseason game but that throw the forty air yard throw deontay looked pretty solid the touchdown a passes were very strong to pat frame youth. The new new rookie tight end catch touchdowns. But i'm i've i've been all in on najji and this is like this is full confirmation bias to me i. I'm drafting najah with full confidence. And i'm drafting him. In front of a lot of other running backs i am side of my top digging dodgy or i would champion. I would technology harris over antonio you knew where i was going. Yeah and i can tell you why if you owe me a climate inside the recesses of mike's enormous head yeah you can get lost echoey. Let's hear mike is more confident in third-down snap for nausea harrison. He is for antonio one hundred percent. It yeah jk. Dobbins in gus edwards. They split time over the first three drives in the ravens second game. Each had four carries. Gus has been in our sleeper category of the ud k. for awhile but dobbins a third round pick gusts in eleventh round pick. Dobbins is the better player physically talent wise why he was drafted higher. You see it on the field He's going to get the he's gonna get slightly more work than gusts For sure he's going to end up with more fantasy points swimming. Both of them are healthy. But that gap is wild. I don't think the dobbins is being overdrafted. I just think. Gus is being left for dead in the tenth round. Where you've got a guy who's going to touch the ball enough to be fantasy relevant a lot of weeks for the ravens marking rooms out of the way. He's got the touchdown opportunities to so i. I do like gusts as a late round. Flyer gus or change connor james connor james connor..

"It reminds me to a certain extent of the jets where we put in mark sanchez from usc key and from day one he was our starter and he took us to the championship game and he wasn't perfect but we were able to run. The ball played good defense and we had a really good year. If i'm at now you every day you don't do that. You're hurting credibility with yourself in the locker. What is the point of saying that. You need to see andy dalton in the in the regular season he's been in the league for how many years longtime well fifteen years like. I think you know what you've gotten any dalton. So why would he say that. I think he asserts that box himself. In and i think if he could go back in time what matt now you would have done said. Hey i'll always do what's in the best interest of the chicago bears and right now andy dalton starter but every player will always be evaluated and kinda give himself a little wiggle room but he was so out in front saying that dalton's starter. Because i think what he was trying to do with his own my saying. Hey i'm going back to what. I was on the kansas city staff where we had alex smith for year. We drafted mahomes and obviously the rest is history. That's not the situation in the adult dolphins. Out alex smith and justin feels just gives them a better chance to win so i think by him doing that. He's just trying to nuance around the situation that he created himself. Mike we see a number of nfl coaches for whatever reason it is. I don't you know. I don't know which i'll say a little meat in your caucus together before y'all set the roster but we've seen another a number of nfl coaches not come out and just name starting quarterbacks that with there with them starting a year ago and qassemi just did it again. He will not name. Jimmy g. the starting quarterback in week one to the media thus far. Why is that well. So we're clear when we caucus we talk about overpaid under productive players. Usually we do keesa been me. So i'm not saying what you just asked what we talk about anyway. I what's interesting. Is i think everyone knows that. Hey they traded multiple first round picks up and get lance. he is their future clearly. Jimmy g. my opinion. I would probably start him early. But that gap is closing every time we watch. I don't know how much of the game saw last night put trae lance to just make some dynamic plays i think. He's gay better in terms of accuracy and anticipation. I think kyle share hand on like that now. He's just trying to give himself a little wiggle room. So i wouldn't be surprised to see jimmy. J. star papa. That gap is closing fast in san francisco and vic fangio's another guy who has not stepped up and said that teddy bridgewater starter. In fact he said that drew lock you. Teddy bridgewater essentially is even right now. I guess they're gonna play it down to the wire. Why is that that to me of all the situations that seems to be a genuine serve competition. I think teddy bridgewater gives the best chance to win. And no vic fangio in the lens on hell. He'll make this decision. I think he'll go with the quarterback who he believes will make the least amount of stakes because he believes in their defense. I think ultimately that will be teddy bridgewater. He's a veteran experience. Make all the throws drew lock has a lot of billy. We still see some inconsistencies. He did turn the ball over quite a bit as a lot of rookie quarterbacks who a year ago so i think it will be at the end of the day. I think it'll be bridgewater but again. I think he's an older coach. That wants to give himself as much latitude as possible. I'm worried about you a little bit. Mike i hope you worry too because your little prediction in the preseason was that ben rothlisberger would be benched. Still feel that way based on ways plate can you. Can you believe some of these people. Talk against pittsburgh you know. They have an all time. Great franchise all time great coach. I mean can you believe that. So it says if he's protected and he'd go out there and play seven on seven which again seven hundred seventy is passing drill and practice where you can't touch the quarterback if he's well protected he'll play great. I'll be wrong. But i know how hard it is to build it offense a line trying to change three maybe four spots and when we get into the regular season and they have to face pressure. Can they pick it up correctly from day. One they ever rookie running back. Who's going to be a great player. Najji harris will he be flawless in pass protection. Those are the questions are going to have to answer. And that to me will be the biggest x. Factor in their success. This year moonwalk in early on a monday morning. I see what you're doing but naive offensive line is obviously for the steelers if they wanna get any any type of production out of big ben. Good stuff is always migrates. Talk to you. Thanks so much appreciate it go caucus right now. I wasn't going to ask him. The wadded. Josh mcdaniels say about cam newton. He's a starter. Donau man you top because if you're in the front office say that why are we even. Why are we doing this. I don't understand what decisions aren't being made on some of these quarterbacks and we all know what's deceased already buys there was a revenge game in the preseason.

"Lynn played in that as a player. So theoretically could call that kind of offense if he wanted to And my see is that the lions the one good thing they have is an offensive line. So they're probably gonna need to lean on that a little bit maybe andrea swift grinds out a bunch of tough yards this year and ends up at the top of the top of the board. I liked that connor as we've discussed often on the show got steel with pennzoil Let's let's let's give our teams are. It can be super bowl. It can be just and any team accomplishment. Super bowl isn't what everyone has to win this year. That's the way it goes time. Although i think we all pick super bowl odds so yeah you have to win the super bowl to be worth anything I'll go first. And i am going with the steelers at forty five to one here and it just doesn't really add up. I feel like. There's such an overreaction. To two things with a sealer team number one the ugliness of their playoff loss. Although i think if you were to simulate that game i don't know one hundred million times across the multi-diverse you would not find another instance where the game begins with mark eastbound c. snapping the ball into his own end zone so i think he can kind of throw that out but overall i think. It's just kind of overreaction to ben rothlisberger who by the way is not particularly slimmed-down but that's okay. He was never very slim throughout his career. But everyone's kind of treating him as incredibly limited quarterback and yes he is not like the all world throw the football that he was ten years ago. But he's not a guy who you have to say like well you know in order to get him comfortable. We can only do this or this or you can have an expensive offense with him. He might not be the kind of high velocity downfield Sort of you know. Deep intermediate thrower that he was earlier in his career but he can still get the ball now field you saw when they needed it and when they came back beat the colts or even in that playoff game when they had to come back and score a bunch of points against the browns. He'll get the ball downfield. So i think it was just a matter of kind of holding him back all season to limit the number of hits. I don't think you'll see that again this year. We know the defenses great. They're probably going to have more of a running game this year. With with najji harris joining the backfield. There i just. I think thirteen that's built to win it and they've won it before with this coaching. This quarterback and i think forty five to one is a little bit a little bit too long for my taste. Yeah gary i was really surprised by those odds as i was going through i was also surprised and thus picked accordingly that the patriots were thirty five to one and i think. Also another of an overreaction something that happened last season which in the patriots case was their first season without tom. Brady wasn't a seamless transition. Cam newton comes down with the season kind of dies from there. They have a league high up number of opt-outs but hey i'll take the patriots at thirty five to one. I mean i think taking the patriots at thirty five to one anytime this millennium would then good from thirty five to one. I'm gonna. I'm gonna go for it. Giannis getting amazon at a penny right here fantastic. I'm gonna just divide my not by the forty niners at fourteen to one. In the broncos at forty five to one.

"Dot com slash fees. All right tom. What about travis end. What did you find on his projections. Obviously you like the overs for najji harris in terms of his prop. What about atn. Yeah the number is a lot lower. It's at six hundred half depending where you look around. I'm a little more hesitant on this number. Just just there's a lot of smoke that they're gonna kinda use. James robinson allot They went out and signed. Carlos hyde to a two year deal. When nobody out you know thirty one other teams in the in the league weren't going to give carlos a two year deal so You know they. He talked you know. Urban meyer talked about how you know. They were looking at kadiri. Tony as a draft pick before the giants took him twenty th overall before their twenty fifth overall pick..

"Wait so there you go. It's now in your head because it's now in mind for those who've listened to our podcast for a really long time and i'm not talking about all. I started listening in twenty twenty. This this myself and brian goes way back. I mean this is back in the blog. Talk radio days It's kind of old school. It kind of brings back multiple vibes as brian. Yeah i think. I think we're talking t- thousand fifteen or sixteen. Jeez and and so. We have a lot of fun and we were doing this. And we were doing the preview together. Before dave came in and then dave joined the preview and man we. We haven't looked back. So it's been great to have dave as a part of it but it's it's nice to go old school. I'm feeling it's nothing against dave by the way. This is not a crackdown. Dave were comfortable doing a show together. We'll be fine all right. So let's i want to tell a story here to get us started. And this is going to lead into our first topic so i had a softball game tonight. Dave plays in the same softball league. We don't play each other. Teams were in different divisions anyways. That's neither here nor there. There is a gentleman on another team that we both know who actually follows behind the steel curtain. A he's a member. He has his own name on the website. He comments on articles all the time. So i was on first base. He plays first base. And i said hey what do you think about the steelers this year and he said to be completely honest with you. Jeff i could be talked into one way or the other and i love. What do you mean he said. I could be talked into them. Being really good. And i could also be talked into them being absolutely lousy and i felt like that had some merit but my thought my question for you brian to start the show off was okay. What are your thoughts in here. We are would the steelers just wrapped up the second week of their third phase of. Ota's we've already been through free agency. The draft is in the rear view mirror. How do you feel about this team right now. I feel pretty comfortable with this team. Because i keep going back to one phrase during the press conference before the nfl draft twenty twenty one. And it was kevin colbert. and mike. Tomlin kevin colbert said this. We have the roster to play a game tonight if we need to. So that means going to the draft that they were looking at a few positions that they were going to hone but if they can go and play a game without najji heiress without fryer mu green or any of those guys they were comfortable in doing so and the way they built this team. I am you know a lot of people aren't thinking it lately. But i'm thinking that i'm an optimist and i'm really optimistic about the steelers and this team because i like the way that they've put everything together. I look at the end of two thousand twenty one. Excuse me two thousand twenty and that playoff game in where they were in what was going on and now i look at the pieces that they have here now and the pieces that they don't have here now and i'm still pretty comfortable with the pieces that they have here now. And here's the thing. The reason being is you can't count but depre- in being gone. If he wasn't on that team in the playoffs he was already gone. So they've actually improved from the wild card game and with the additions of their draft picks. I feel that they're improved the whole way around that they're better off than they were on january ninth of two thousand twenty one. You kinda. yeah you kinda went into my follow up there and that's the the number one question that a lot of fans are asking in. I honestly when i hear these narratives coming from nfl network or espn or cbs. Sports any other outlet. The does things like predictions and things. I understand that the steelers have on paper the toughest schedule of any a team. That's all based off twenty twenty. Win loss percentage. So dave about Makes you check that out. Great episode by the way. It's only on audio platform but i ask myself is. Is this team better in if people were saying they're going to be awful. This team's not that different than the team that started at eleven one. Twelve games and yes. They failed down the stretch. But what is the one thing if you could pinpoint something brian that gives you calm and says this team's going to be pretty good even if everyone else is saying they're going to be off the one thing that makes it there so many things jeff but if i had to say the one thing it's matt canada a scheme because i think that was really. What was hindering everything. The scheme i think the offensive line gets better in the scheme. And i think adding najji harris and the way that the running backs are going to be used even if it wasn't Harris i think canada makes all the difference in the world. Man he might be fool's gold. I might be drinking the canadian cool eight. If that instance comedian dry were better. Yes here's the nose and to be honest with diesel agree one hundred percent. I'm going to go a different route as to why i think this is going to be okay in. This would be the same person that some would point to and say why they're going to be awful b. t. r. benjamin todd rothlisberger. He is still the straw which stirs the drink. And they're gonna go as he goes. I really do think that the steelers are going to be not not only more balanced with cannon which ties into your topic that you just mentioned and also. I just think that everyone is bashing him. After the way that things went down the playoff game and down the stretch. We know after seventeen years. The denver office replays well when he has a chip on his shoulder and he has a giant chip on a shoulder. Brian how confident are you in. Bt are in twenty twenty one. do you think it's the end of the rope ended the road. Whatever you wanna call it or do you think he has a lot of good football left. Be t are..

"As you can all see. It's bad really really bad. it's my only weakness though. Okay i i ended up trading my one point six rookie draft pick and twenty twenty two first round. Pick for one point one. So i can take najji harris. Is this a good deal for me to have made. It is tight end premium by the way tight. End score one point five points. So should i take. Kyle pits he He has who's tight end head hunter henry. I'm taking pets. He yeah even with his running backs when he even with us running backs. I mean if kyle pits is everything that he could be. That's right you know right. Harris could end up being. You know the next ezekiel elliott. Somebody like that. I'd like to know what else he has on his team to. Maybe make another trade while he told us. Wide receivers quarterback was going. Say what hurts and tannahill digs. Cup beckham markey's brown. Dj more henry ruggs can move one of those receivers e i would say like that's the type of if can do it You're looking at some of these either questionable starters. You know myles gaskin. Mike davis chase edmonds. James conner was everyone. You prefer. Melvin gordon potentially you know somebody that can give you some production carson which carson in their dynasty that the top of the heap but. That's the type of movie. I think you're trying to do is try and trade odell for chris carson. If you know something along those lines well that is it for our schedule recap episode we will talk to you on thursday with fantasy football today. Address review a post. So <Speech_Male> you're looking <Speech_Male> at a <Speech_Male> guy who was physically <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> pushed to the sidelines <Speech_Male> in the college <Speech_Male> game which is good <Speech_Male> as demonte smith days. <Speech_Male> It's going to happen. <Speech_Male> More and more people line <Speech_Male> the boundary acts in <Speech_Music_Male> the nfl <Silence> but <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> the patriots. <Speech_Male> Now have <Silence> two tight ends <Speech_Male> who <Speech_Male> have experienced <Speech_Male> lining <Speech_Male> up as a boundary <Speech_Male> x and or <Speech_Male> at least have the ability <Speech_Male> to do so <Speech_Male> in hunter henry and <Speech_Male> john smith so <Speech_Male> that gives bill <Speech_Male> belichick and josh mcdaniels <Speech_Male> the ability. <Speech_Male> Hey let's <Speech_Male> put devante <Speech_Male> smith in the on <Speech_Male> the inside slot <Speech_Male> trips. Let's <Speech_Male> put him at the z. <Speech_Male> Move him around. <Speech_Male> This <Speech_Male> would be a really fascinating <Speech_Male> fit <Speech_Male> for multiple reasons <Speech_Male> and again now <Speech_Male> i could see devante <Speech_Male> smith landing in <Speech_Male> this spot as somebody <Speech_Male> who ends up leading <Speech_Male> the patriots in targets. <Speech_Male> This would be an <Speech_Male> interesting spot for <Speech_Male> devante smith. Because <Speech_Male> i don't think he'd be asked <Speech_Male> to be the <Speech_Male> boundary <SpeakerChange> acts that he was <Silence> so often in college. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> last one that. I <Speech_Male> wanna get your take <Silence> on <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> because i think <Speech_Male> it's interesting. <Speech_Male> Najji g harris <Speech_Male> to the steelers. <Speech_Male> Everybody <Speech_Male> thinks it's going to happen. <Speech_Male> Everybody <Speech_Male> marks the question <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Male> whether or <Speech_Male> not <Speech_Male> he <Speech_Male> becomes a top <Speech_Male> ten running <SpeakerChange> back <Speech_Male> in people's life. <Speech_Male> Yeah <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> here's the <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> here's the interesting part. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Because i <Speech_Male> i'm a i'm a <Speech_Male> pennsylvania boy <Speech_Male> so i have a lot of windsor <Speech_Male> friends. I'm a southeastern <Speech_Male> pa boy. <Speech_Male> But most of my friends <Speech_Male> are actually <SpeakerChange> users. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> i'm on a <Speech_Male> text chain with those guys. <Silence> And <Speech_Male> i consider <Speech_Male> them sharp. <Speech_Male> And they want an offensive <Silence> lineman here <Speech_Male> so <Speech_Male> they're like the run <Speech_Male> game needs or back. <Speech_Male> we need mogae <Speech_Male> harris. We need a back. <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> it's not gonna be much <Speech_Male> anything if they can't <Speech_Male> block for them <Speech_Male> so but <Speech_Male> it. There is <Speech_Male> a lot of smoke here <Speech_Male> with najji harris <Speech_Male> and i would not be <Silence> shocked. Ross <Speech_Male> if <Speech_Male> he ends up in <Speech_Male> pittsburgh <Speech_Male> people start talking <Speech_Male> themselves into <Speech_Male> him elite for <Speech_Male> round. Pick for fantasy. <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> probably <SpeakerChange> wouldn't <Speech_Male> do it. I'd i'd have <Speech_Male> to see where the draft <Speech_Male> or falls. <Speech_Male> But i would not be shocked <Speech_Male> if people start doing <Speech_Male> that. I mean remember <Speech_Male> were james. Conner <Speech_Male> was getting drafted a couple <Speech_Male> years ago <Speech_Male> He slipped <Speech_Male> into the third round this <Speech_Male> year. Almost exclusively <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> on the fact that he had <Speech_Male> a an injury history <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> james conner <Speech_Male> had produced in the <Speech_Male> past as an rb <Speech_Male> one for fantasy. <Speech_Male> I think people view <Speech_Male> that kind of skill set <Speech_Male> from najji harris. <Speech_Male> Do not be shocked <Speech_Male> if he is a top <Speech_Male> fifteen pick <Speech_Male> in redraft <Speech_Male> if

"Bills in the team is headed in the right direction. I do like what the buffalo bills are doing on offense and the thing is i just i know there. There are a few pieces away. Like i saw a mock draft the other day i think it was mel kiper mantra and it had getting najji harris. I think that'd be a great pickup for that team on offense again. I think you wanna get a nas in colby's not good. But i think you wanna get another weapon for him for josh allen offense maybe like another tight end or a receiver. Something but stefan days is no doubt very good. But get josh allen more pieces on offense and i think the offense can take the next step. The pittsburgh steelers out. I think the pittsburgh steelers that way. The season ended for them and the way how they went what they were lost. Four of the last five games by the pittsburgh steelers finished. he's terrible note and then went to the plows. Guy embarrassed by the cleveland browns. You have big band with a huge salary cap. Hit if he comes back. You can't sign everybody with that type of salary cap. And even if they move on from big ben. There's just not going to be enough around the team to sustain them going into the playoffs next year. So i had this steelers. Allies will have made the playoffs next year tennessee. Titans had them in. I think the tennessee. Titans are actually going to be a very good team again next year with derrick henry they just need i think as well i think they need some help on defense. They need a good pass rusher. They can get one in the draft. This drought has a lot of good. Pass rushers in this one. So i think tennessee. Titans are in the playoffs. But yeah i have them making the playoffs baltimore ravens in. I think this offense is missing another receiver to lamar jackson. The jury is still out about lamar jackson throwing the football. I think we all can agree on that like he did not. There's no doubt. Lamar jackson is electric football player. Like when he's run the football making plays with his legs. Whatever it is. He's electric throwing the football. That's where we start to see some issues like when it comes to nina. Throw their way back into a game. You don't see consistently with him. So i to go with lamar jackson the ravens in as far as a playoffs next year. Have the in cleveland browns. In as well. I think this team again. It's in the right direction. I think they got to move on from. Ob j..

Then thank you for that and welcome back show for tila with you. Coast to coast gust. Throw them on the air Just wanna give a little shout out to a man. Najji harris fifth in heisman voting. Probably the first running back though will be taken in the nfl draft at alabama. Who grew up in antioch california with the antioch high school. it's about About a half hour. From where. I sit right now in the east bay up in the delta the sloughs as we call them and it's It can be a pretty rough town. There's no doubt about it and I heard naci today talking about how he would walk. The zone zone is An area which some people would say was was like a war zone. Lot of violence. If you've ever. I mean if you drive on the freeway highway four through antioch and You probably have to the side and say it looks like there's a you know a best buy and applebee's whatever but if you get off the and you start going in the back you'll see some squalor just really bad. I've played against those high schools. When i was growing up. I coached against them as well and It's a very very depressed a neighborhood but there's all there's always something about a kid the story about how you know a lot of times. This happened with basketball players when they know you really good that you have a chance to get out. Sometimes you're left alone and they said most people wouldn't mess with naci because they knew that he had something going for him. But it's still it's scary thing and antioch is in small town. It has more than one. Hundred thousand people So there definitely people who wouldn't know who he was and wasn't the malone but this is a guy who you know to that town is hero. The beacon of hope huge million dollar smile a guy who when he went to any high school twice. We're going to go to michigan. I remembered the compliment. He gave him. He said what a handsome young man he goes. You're going to be a movie star. S not bad but there is a story. I saw by a guy who has been harris's personal trainer since his freshman year in high school named marcus malu stalking to cbs sports. And he said oh one. Day harris was walking in zone and One of the big drug honchos pulled up to him. Said you najji harris and he said yeah he goes. I'm just gonna let you know. I'm not gonna let anybody touch. Okay thanks but they said that this is the way malu put it. He said when the hood knows. There's somebody who has a chance to get up. they look after you. Incident nausea with that gentleman. He was able to get a pass by the way. That drug dealer is no longer willis. It's gone onto his reward. But you talk about very quietly inning things done. I mean to his teammates on his side of the ball. We're nominated for a heisman. One of them want it in smith and jones but smith jones and harris. Old time. american names for you. But quietly has become the all time leading rusher in the history of alabama. That's really something. And if you think about the sec title game he ran for nearly two hundred yards and accounted for five touchdowns in fact if you wanna look at the history of college football and some of the great offenses think about that. Sam bradford team at oklahoma. Woody throw five touchdown passes. I think it was fifty five touchdown pass think about joe burrow last year. And that offense at lsu. He and devante smith became the first pair of teammates in history to each score twenty touchdowns. Now that stuff isn't noticed when he does a lot of blocking a lot of pass catching but the argument can be made. You're not gonna win it. Because as i said the quarterback and the receiver got more love. But you can make an argument. That harris was the mvp of alabama this season. And you think about the ability to balance that offense you know you blitz. he's going to go out for a pass you. Don't he's going to run it down your neck. So just a shot from a man. Because quietly the star as i said this is a guy who has more rushing yards then art ingram derrick henry all time at alabama all right. We're pleased to have on the show. Someone who might find himself in canton and that would be the professional football fan because they have something called the ford hala fans which just started a couple of years ago and one of the nominees joins us. Now wayne mabry you know him better as the violator at Raider games and Wayne as a lifelong raider fan and growing up on the east side and my dad with tickets from day. One at frank you'll filled in the nineteen sixty. It's good to finally get a chance to talk to you Also doing the pre and post game on the raiders flagship last year. As i did. But i i guess we'll just start from the beginning. When did it all come together for you. That the silver and black was your squad. Well good morning. Thanks for having me on. this journey. mind begin As a eighth grade back in mississippi round nineteen seventy and I think they were playing Kansas city at the time and That was a big brawl. That you know broke up. And i got a glimpse of the helmets of clothes. And you know ma. I've always been into armor that type of stuff medieval you know weapons were have you kind of a weird theodore where i live. But you know decision. Blackie that i think they catch him is now. They've got a one out of power to on that so a need okay. That's a team from california. So my my already shifted. I ended up getting to california and seventy seven Being a member of a of a stage band so to speak you know and For the gong show so that was the ticket to get here after that. It was no going back. I was gonna find a way to get close to where that team was as possible. Well i never moved to oakland. When they moved from oakland california me to los angeles christmas in july and i lived out. I could walk to the stadium. Just put it that way so it was just like This is a fan's dream and the violated did come out. Oh i did release him until.
