"That's true True or false we're willing to believe all these stories from people who we would not have listened to for a second while they were working for Trump because it's really fun Oh that's true for sure It is true Yes You gotta believe in the waking colonoscopy And that is the latest edition of our Trump dump and if there is a God in heaven it will be the last one Now it's time for some more questions from the week's news Nagin the Heinz corporation unveiled a new invention this week to make it easier to do what Wait the Heinz corporation You know them Heinz ketchup They have unveiled a new product It's invention They come up with they're selling it It's all designed to make it easier to do what To get the ketchup out of the bottle So close not the bottle but something else Oh to open the jar In which your ketchup resides Have you never been to like a McDonald's drive-through Oh two Right to like have to go catch up Which come in Little squirty packet Squirty packets Yes This is a device designed to get all the ketchup out of the squirty packet It's not like this Is that device called just your human fingers No no no It's shaped like a little ketchup bottle because it's adorable but it's essentially like one of those ringers that old old timey washer tubs have and you put in there's a little razor that you used to open up the packet and you put it in and you crank it and it squeezes all the ketchup right out of there Right onto your shirt So it saves the trouble Was this like an issue that was vexing Americans that they couldn't get the Because I should want to say I've been with these squirty packages my whole life the ones that we've known from my childhood And I have to say I always got the ketchup out of them But you keep it in a chart It sounds like Yeah All of us really wondered about that It sounded frankly like oh your ketchup jar like that slip that the spy makes I think that's on her burgers Nikki and Duncan surprising ragu I think food waste is a huge problem but it doesn't seem like the place to start is with the smallest quantities of food waste If we save just like a campaign with celebrities like if you just save the bottom of your ketchup packet every time you get ketchup packets for one year you will have almost one whole ketchup packet in the end of that year Keep it going now Coming up it's.

You're an occult call. Your dad like you're brainwashed. Yeah so that was my bad was i was just. I was very surprised. And like i said other than the fact that it's okay i need to do this thing right now or i'll get killed. I really hope that that sort of sparked something in her going. Maybe these aren't the guys i thought they were. Maybe these aren't my brothers. It sounds like she's been involved with them for really long time. I mean i think they've pretty much shown themselves. Yeah and i. I i get the whole the bonds of war and things like that where you know you'd kill for these people you die for these people but i really hope that those people don't kill you you know so i'm just a little for lia and she doesn't quite have the bulletproof vest that Darryl does in fact. I think she's. Are you worried for her. I kind of okay with a yeah. I don't think she's redeemable at this point. Although they've redeemed nagin so here we are. Yeah they've redeemed. Megan they redeem dwight. They you know like yeah. So but i i don't i mean how can i'll go off and leave leah to go off on an adventure with carol sell. And i gotta tell you i mean. I'm not like an uber patriot. Ray i'm not the person who's i have to retraumatize myself with hours and hours of nine eleven coverage on nine. No i'm not that person. But i got really really mad watching this episode. I started on september eleventh. And i was like this is not okay and i didn't even think of that and i actually watched a couple of nine eleven documentaries And my my brain for some reason did not go to nine eleven. It went to the current withdraw from afghanistan And i was like they could have predicted that. But no you're right this. This is a little too close to nine eleven. I will absolutely give you that. That's tough walking dead. Do better angela king. I have more respect for you. The mad yeah yeah. I think we could have flip. Flopped this episode. Maybe with net next episode. Because these are these are sort of bottle episodes with their characters. I think next episode. We're getting more of maggie nagin and more of the commonwealth stuff so. Floridians With Felony Convictions Must Pay Fines Before They Can Vote

"Dot com slash NPR to learn more. Florida's Republican legislature is largely succeeding in its drive to prevent people with felony convictions from voting the people of Florida voted otherwise two years ago by an overwhelming margin Floridians overturned the state's lifelong ban on voting for people convicted of crimes. Then Florida lawmakers stepped in the legislators barred people from voting if they still owe outstanding fines, which most can't afford to pay Danny Rivera of member station, wwl R. N. reports on the result. The Big promise when voters passed a ballot initiative in two thousand eighteen was that more than a million Floridians would get the right to vote back. But after the stay connected voting with making payments, less than ten thousand ex-felons are expected to vote in November according to research from Georgetown? Law. Center. That's because the majority of people can't afford to pay what they owe. Even if a tiny percent of them can have paid all my fines. I have pay my dentist society. And now, maybe Bolt Sean came out of Florida State. Prison six years ago where she was serving time for drug charges. But when I met her in August, she was marching to the polls in Miami to vote in Florida's primary election. Jones a social worker. Now for the occasion, she's wearing a homemade black and pink shirt that celebrates how far she's made it. So my shirt says she's been reform. DC number, which is day county corrections crossed out. And I have my voter registration number checked So no longer a felon and my is not a few Florida counties have come up with programs that allow judges to modify someone sentenced to allow them to vote. Even if money is still out when the programs I lost, there was a lot of promise that they could help people registered to vote. Democratic. State Senator Jason Pizzo helped create one of these programs in Miami Dade. County a year ago and he says the biggest problem with the program is that so few people have used it less than one hundred people out of their cases modified in the largest county in Florida in the third largest country pizzo says there's more pro Bono attorneys that have offered to help with cases. Then people who have called for help is it apathy or is it beating down people and basically Nagin and feel so disheartened and disenchanted with system like I give up Give up I don't WANNA gauge. I don't a fun to help would be voters was created last year and has raised million so far. But even those charitable contributions are facing pushback from the state after billionaire Michael Bloomberg announced he would help donate nearly twenty million dollars for the effort. Florida's Attorney General Ashley. Moody. Asked the FBI in State police to investigate and the letter she cited laws against election bribery. Not See this as a bit of voter intimidation. Then you link is an attorney with the campaign legal center. She represented plaintiffs in the Federal Court case, and she says, Florida's trying to scare people away from accepting help for paying off their fines and fees. Air is no criminal investigation to be had here. The law is about paying people to vote or paying people. In order to induce them to vote instead the generosity of fellow citizens is allowing individuals to become eligible to vote Most of us don't have to pay to become eligible to vote unfortunately these folks do, but he riddle was a plaintiff in the federal lawsuit, and now she's scrambling to come up with the money she needs to be able to vote in November government. That is something they you have to consider whether you're crude or not. An autonomous boot must also navigate around other boats extra. You don't collide in the water rudy Nagin born professor at t you delft told The Wall Street Journal quote. Technically, it's not possible yet to make an autonomous ship that operates safely and efficiently in crowded areas and import areas. But we're getting there. And already, being able to navigate the seas is a big deal. It's a very different proposition from autonomous vehicles on ground autonomous cars and trucks. It is much easier to navigate the seas when you're not in the port when you're actually on the open sea and we also don't have a lot of or people to do research on the on the ocean to map Houston floor to explore other parts of the. Of the ocean in C.. So there are applications that aren't just making freight less costly, and especially on bigger freight boats on tankers and things like that. The crew isn't huge and they have sometimes hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, worth of merchandise. So it's GonNa replace that, but it could add to the possibilities of different kinds of shapes, which is interesting. Yeah I think is fascinating because. Know. The idea of you probably imagine when you think of autonomous boats like Oh those container ships, you just make those all autonomous, but it seems like it's the opposite like those. Maybe the last things to become autonomous because of what you're talking about the cost savings isn't that much and Roger was telling me in our prep meeting that the fuel the bunker fuel used by those big boats. Really does need human. Supervision to work safely and it's really difficult to automate that you might want to change them to different kinds of fuel that adds to the expense. So yeah, this is. This is not going to fix everything but. Think how many times have you heard somebody say we explore space with all these robots but there's so much. "Could kind of like a double whammy of losing two things at once like the guy that you're hooking up with who. Maybe you probably had like actual serious feelings for him was hoping something's gonna come out of that. And then you're losing a friend at the same time. But yeah, I mean, if I I've said this over on the podcast. But like when I meet someone that my friend either has a crush on is hooking up with dated anything like that. They immediately go from like a like a man with a penis to like a person that has no like, no sexual organs and is not a sexual creature at booking all. And they go into this box where they they forever are attached and associated with that friend of mine like any good friend of yours wouldn't like you would just never it just wouldn't actually happen at all. So I think like no that you're as much as you're losing like a friend, a good friend or whatever. Even if you. She was great at tricking you that she was a good. Friend all this time. She clearly wasn't lying. I guarantee you. She's been shitty. Fred to you in other aspects that you might not even know about or not have realized as it was happening. But like you didn't lose you genuinely didn't lose a friendship or relationship in the situation. Like you lost to people who needed to get the fuck out of your life because they didn't give a shit about you. Yeah. God. Yeah. That's that's basically I have nothing to add to that saying that's insane stuff. You can't trust either one of them. Like, why would you want to still be friends with? Yeah. And also, you have to know if it makes you feel any better like anyone in your like whole, circle, everybody's gonna think they're they're fucking crazy like in. That's fucking insane. Like, you look like you look like the girl who dodged a bullet where everyone's like. Wow. They like if it wasn't. Thank god. She's on it. Not because I had no idea. How crazy they were? Or like, I knew how crazy they were in like she doesn't have to deal with this now. So I think that you're gonna just know that like everybody else looking in on. This is probably like there's only two three months have been dating, right? Like. Realistic dania like that's insane. Yeah. I'm sorry. I am so sorry. That's awesome. Many other guys out there, so many amps whenever friends. Yes. Like, none of my friends like I fucked up one. I mean, I've talked about a lot. But like I up once and made out with a guy that my friend had a crush on our freshman year of high school senior year of high school. She was so fucking mad at me. And I was like, you're right. That was really terrible. I was wasted. But like that was a guy that she had a crush on. But she never dated. Yeah. But like, I none of my friends. None of us have ever fucking made out with anyone's ex-boyfriend someone they hooked up with like, no, no, no, no, no, no except like high school, but that was like high school, and it wasn't even like boyfriends. It was like, oh, you Trig on the next one high Nagin me, and my roommate are sophomore in college and we were hauling because I crushed in. I am a little bit stuff in the middle because I live with three girls on which lives in my actual room. And is my best friend, and she is. But he doesn't know how to tell her other roommate, and I don't know how to sell my other roommate that I've known for a while. But haven't said anything because that was what I was asked to do. "Off at this hour Nagin Bishop NewsRadio twelve hundred w freeze warning in effect for another couple of hours till eleven o'clock, then cloudy skies and a high this afternoon. Fifty degrees. As you probably know their places in Texas. Twenty one to buy tobacco, but not everywhere in a state. But that could soon be changing Charlie recall last year, San Antonio city council passed an ordinance banning the sale of tobacco products, including cigarettes to anybody under the age of twenty one. And the biggest argument you heard from convenience store. Operators was hey, they could just go across the city limits. Go into a suburb go into the county by all the spokes they want. Well, they wouldn't be able to under a law. That's being discussed today by the state house public health committee. It would take the Senate Tony ordinance called tobacco Twenty-one and make it state-wide. You would not be able to buy tobacco products, including vaping products, anywhere in the state. If you are not twenty one years old officials cite the fact that after gradual but steady declines and teen smoking over the last twenty years, it has turned around and began to jump back up. Again, we now. I'll see about seven point four percent of high school students smoking tobacco more than ten percent using e cigarettes and the focus of this law is that unlike hard drugs like heroin and buy from street dealers, the vast majority of teenagers get their cigarettes from their older buddies most everybody who's a sophomore junior in high school knows the senior who's eighteen who can go out and buy smokes. Sometimes the ten year old even makes money off the transaction. And nobody starts smoking over the age of twenty one. I mean by then you're smart enough, not to start smoking. They say ninety seven percent of people who develop a smoking habit develop it under the age of twenty one in the vast majority of the most common age to take up smoking is fifteen fifteen chances are pretty good. You know, somebody who's eighteen can buy spokes. If you're fifteen chances are not so great, the, you know, somebody who's twenty one who's going to be able to buy your smokes. And that's the whole idea behind this. The supporters of this. Including state Senator Joan Huffman introduced a Bill in response to what they call the alarming increase in the use of tobacco especially e cigarettes among Texas teenagers now that use of tobacco hasn't gotten nearly up to the levels. It was at in the sixties and seventies. Among my high school kids, but it is concerning that is turning its way upward again tobacco is far and away the the number one preventable cause of cancer. And you know, how much money we spend on just cancer alone, not to mention emphysema heart disease. The other things you get from taking up smoking. So seven states now have already banned the sale of tobacco products and vaping products to people under the age of twenty one. And this Bill has got a pretty good chance of passing largely due to the fact that it's been tried for the past year here in San Antonio jam. Thank you, very much.

"Should understand Nagin when I was serving as deputy director. I was one of two people and the FBI that had the authority to disclose information to the media that is an FBI policy. It's baked into the way that we run media relations in the organization so I- transacted on issues regarding the media every single really quick, then why did James Comey deny the claim that he approved or leaks to the press. I don't know why Jim Komi doesn't remember the conversations that we had in the same way that I do it is understandable. He's was an under an enormous amount of stress at the time. He had a lot of other more important things to worry about. I can't explain why he doesn't remember them the same way. I wrote everything down. We wrote down things when we were dealing with people. We didn't trust the president, exactly. Couple notable things. They're sure first of all right there. He throws Jim James Comey under the bus. He threw he's thrown Rosenstein under the bus nounce James Comey. This is what happens when a plot falls apart when someone's engaged in something nefarious, and they've got co-conspirators or the people involved, it whatever you wanna call them when it all starts to unravel. They start to throw each other under the bus. This is where the fault lines are going to defend this is what's happening. That's number one number two if they he just admitted right there that they wrote down everything when it came to someone they didn't trust there should be notes right about all of his dealings with the president people. He didn't trust you mean, like the president ha ha ha audience laughs, James and Andrew Weissmann. Yeah. Like the perfect shape. Yeah. Like the president. So there should now be notes. We now know he should have notes. Why haven't those been subpoenaed? Have they why hasn't he been subpoenaed? Good question. Why hasn't he been hauled before congress? He has not yet received one apparently. Although he said the other day that he'd be fine answering questions before congress under subpoena. He said, I welcome that. So what's that get done because congress should have questions for him? The Democrats should want to get Andrew McCabe in front of the house intelligence committee. They should want again Andrew McCabe in there to answer questions because he's the one who's saying that he's making the case that they suspected the president was a Russian asset enough. So that they opened a counterintelligence investigation against him. Boy, wouldn't it be nice to have the guy who launched that investigation. Andrew McCabe, come before your committee and answer questions about what evidence he had in the first place that led him to that conclusion. Why didn't Republicans subpoena him? I'm sorry. Why does it why do we have to wait for the Democrats to do it? Where were the Republicans when they helped when they held the house for two years? They could have done this. They didn't do it. I this idea why the Democrats want to bring him. No, the Republicans had every chance to do it stopped Muller Muller. Muller questioned him. We know that now why Muller has but. Yeah, no. Why haven't the Republicans is a great question? Here's more from his Anderson Cooper interview. He was on Anderson Cooper yesterday. Anderson Cooper, McCabe directly about whether or not the president is a Russian asset. Do you still believe the president could be a Russian asset? I think it's possible. I think that's why we started our investigation, and I'm really anxious to see where Dr Miller concludes that he thinks it's possible. Okay. Well, then there's sort of a follow up question. Is there a basis for you to believe that the here it is? Are there other things that haven't been made public at this point that contributed to the opening the investigation into the president? I'm not so sure that there are things that haven't been made public. But I think the important thing is to think about put yourself back in may of two thousand seventeen in the position of the investigator the investigative team in the things that are really standing out for them. Go back as far as the early fall. We're investment we're conducting the investigation from the very beginning. The president is referring to the investigation in our efforts at least from the from the beginning of two thousand seventeen as a witch hunt as a hoax he's continuously publicly undermining the effort that we're undertaking. So that causes you as an investigator to think why. Why is the president is clearly he doesn't like what we're doing. In addition to that. He approaches director Comey and asks him to drop the case against Mike Flynn, which of course, we don't do an after director Comey fails to drop that case he is in fact fire he said, he did say what he said was I hope you can see your way clear on this. He signaled that he that he hopes at the end of this thing that Flynn is clear, but let me just focus on what he said, initially Anderson Cooper. I'm not so sure that there are things that haven't been made public. Meaning he believes that we know about everything that you could possibly know about this case already in public. And if that's true. Then this is a complete farce. This is a complete farce that Trump's a Russian agent that everything is known that was Andrew McCabe yesterday and setting up the reason why they did the investigation we thought Trump was Russian asset. That's why we started the investigation claiming the moral high ground they were going to save America. That's why they did it. All right. Speaking of saving. Let's get you to work save you some time. It's six fifteen traffic and weather every.

"Bookstores are filled with business guide saying hire the person who is who was really quiet that has its own kind of prejudice that you know, that I think does have a cost what if you come to about antiquated advice, are you giving her about how to how to manage that? Yeah. I want her to be harder. And I think the. The world is going to. Have to deal. You know, I'll give you an example about three summers ago, she walked up to an older woman on the playground and just introduced herself and said, hi and started chatting and the woman turned to me with this kind of spiteful, look and said you have to teach her not to talk to strangers. And I thought well, I actually think it's great to talk to strangers. I think we need to talk to people. We don't know more, and we need to walk up to people more often and break down barriers and get to know them. And so I would in a million years not council her not to talk to strangers. I think people need to do more of that. I think she's kind of a role model for me. Well, that's a very good thought there. So let's say I want to think about it, Anna, Anna, do you have any thoughts for people who are maybe not as bold as you are about talking to people that they don't already know. Do you have any advice for people who are already know a person that doesn't like talking to people as much as me? Nagin Megan and what's your advice for her? Like, would you be able to teach her how to talk to people that are I don't think I could do that people can't change their opinions. He's. That she's shy. Click ginger, I probably wouldn't people..
