"Six percent walk Kept the ball in the yard after some homerun issues in two thousand nineteen so that was good to see some improvement. He was really nice and he's only twenty four years old. He is kind of the next thing they're throws ninety eight. He's got deep arsenal so For a reliever in particular. I like hernandez i look is super draftable indefinitely. Someone you can go for because he should get the first opportunity and get a real shot at it but in the end is is lurking there. Alii i love hernandez for like a couple of bucks ya Because you can even start him and let him get the ratios in strikeouts as well so the last you know just not allowed to go in on because there's not a lot of guys threatening these jobs here so It was a little bit quick. One we'll get into the national league. Starting next week justin. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Great speaking with you. Good luck in your draft but even more. Good luck to danielle. Because she's wonderful.

"This was a surprise move. There usually trading out relievers. But they saw pretty fair deal here for somebody obviously. They lost their big time guy in liam hendriks. They were never going to sign him for the price that that he would come in but one year eleven mill trevor rosenthal and there's like heavy deferrals on. He's only getting three this year. So you know they did it. The oakland way. He's still only thirty by the way right. He feels like older. And you know thirties. Nod mega young. I feel like if you ask most people there. Snap answer's going to be like thirty two thirty three. He's only going to age thirty one season. Any bounce back brilliantly. In two thousand twenty twenty nineteen was a complete washout the return from tj and then he missed eighteen recovering from that tj. So even though it was only twenty three and two thirds. I'm bought back in because the core skills were like the video has always been there. The core skills came back in full force and looked even better than some of his saint louis numbers. He's in oakland. Bigger park long leash. I'm taking like i said he's in the group of super trust is for me is my number four. So i dig. It can get behind it. And i and likes that it took him in the tgif. The i if you look at his numbers from after he got traded to san diego. He was the best reliever baseball really liked. And that's not hyperbole. Nine innings zero earned runs only two hits allowed. One walk fifteen strikeouts. That one walk is the part. That just really really excites me. But here's the thing. It was at oakland and he went to face them. I'm saying that's the good thing though. I don't i love that. Well that he had command and control. Tremor rosenthal looked great. Looked nasty as ever like saying so. Yeah we both love you even more so given your props there you have met four i at seven and it is a group there that the it's glob were just depending how i feel right if i did too many presley shares that i'm going to rosenthal i get too many d. s. shares. I'll go to johnson but it's at group of trust there That i really like and diekman is is the guy Probably second in command because they have some other lectures they could turn to. Romo lurks as well. They'll both steel few saves. Sorry for those. You drafted super early. And we're getting on those diekman shares That's kind of the downside of drafting early. You can get some benefits but you can also take some hits in. This was a hit because people probably didn't expect oakland to go get a closer they go out and get rosenthal on a fair deal and and we love where he's at. Let's go out to seattle. We talk about texas here in a minute. They traded their and their their guy. Raphael montero out to seattle. And don't think he's going to be the guy now obviously he's a little bit older and they're still kind of in a rebuild so they could feasibly move and but i think i think actually going to hang onto him to be honest because i think they're starting to put some things together to wear next year they really want to start pushing forward. And i don't think celtics gonna be down to two long Especially if they gotta be really smart about not. We'll be in straight up manipulative because of what kevin mathers said and they already have some intriguing pieces in both the hitting and pitching bullpen is still kind of a mass behind monteiro. But if you look at his stats. He's been pretty good as a reliever once. He jumped into that role fulltime with texas. I think they got something here. He's a sneaky second or third closer for me. What do you think. Rafael montero going into his age thirty season with the mariners. I like are lot Think he's pretty much entrenched in that role until they trade him. They're gonna trading him so we disagree a little bit. There they signed can giles to a two year deal. I think giles. that's great. call up now. you're right. That's a great yet. They'll be looking to trade. Especially if montero pitches like. I believe he can. You're right you're right. Yeah he's out so much value for a contender that they can continue to confirm this rebuild. And i think they are looking at next year is the first real opportunity compete so Yeah i mean. I like montero lot. There's no reason to think that kendall greater men or casey sadler kenyan. Milton is gonna come in and take this job for him so for him so I think he's one of those guys. Where like if you were part of that. I don't wanna pay for saves contingent. You can get at a decent price but feels pretty locked into that role. Yeah i've actually got him in my top fifteen causes he's fifteenth for me. Johnson ahead of somebody like craig kimbrel. I just. I'm really on terrace. I love what he's done as a reliever. I'm a little bit of a montero stand dating back to starting days with the mets wanted him to become a starter and member. He had that sort of relief concern because of his size and those who put him in the bullpen. They were right where he's going to flourish but i really like him. You're right he he will get traded. Hopefully if he does or when he does it straight into somewhere we can still close. But i'll take my twelve to fifteen saves out front. And and i just hope that he gets traded somewhere when he still closes and maybe that's reason to move him down a little bit giles. Point is a great one. They did the two year deal so that he can rehab with them and then close with them next year. So you're right he he will almost certainly be dealt And then the last one here in the ao west is texas and jose leclerc. Now has montero cleared out. But i don't think it's free and clear because i'm a little bit of a jonathan hernandez guy So what do you think of. Jose likud work. And then you know how secure is the and then do you like jonathan does or somebody else as well i think look clerk is the guy to start the because of the i agree i agree but i do think like he doesn't do it. That hernandez could swoop that yet because that being said like they are as a team like they are. They're saying we're going to give the young guys run more door. We're moving you off your position which they traded you know pretty much like the face the franchise in l. andres away. So you know. I do think clerk gets the first shot but i also think that he really has to perform for for him to keep control of that job and i don't know how comfortable i feel that he can do that. I mean this is a guy in clerk who has been you know wild to say the least fifteen percent career walk right. That's mass. we're talking you know. I mean obviously super small samples and stuff like that. But you know i mean. He had a thirteen percent walk. Ray in two thousand nineteen loss that job in spite of the contracts And then had to kind of get it back and then ended last year with injuries so yes only pitched two innings to his credit though he keeps the ball in the yard brilliantly and difficult to hit so leclerc does mitigate the walks that way but all it takes is a little bit bad luck with the walks and all of a sudden you're giving up runs left and right because you can't get anybody out so i actually prefer montero sorry hernandez okay. I for montero to allah for sure But i kind of prefer hernandez as the guy. If i'm looking at it from a full season scope That i think he some point he's going to supplant leclerc. I believe Though they're both going extremely late. And so if you're gonna take one might as well take the other And just kind of pair them up together and hope that that hernandez or leclerc emerges as the guy and they don't just share. Yeah because you don't really wanna start both in most formats and that way You can just get the texas saves but hernandez for his part had great thirty one innings last year with a twenty five percent strikeout rate..

"Have a lefty in that rotation and there's nobody in the minors yet that they were only a yelling. You're saying they were already pretty lofty deficient. Remember from after He was in the bullpen. From what was it. The first first series. They like he was. He was having some bullpen Appearances in the playoffs. Because didn't have a lefty to go to and even in the bullpen. Right now they have blake taylor and brooke's rayleigh like not exactly guys that are that. Are knocking the doors off their from the left hand side. So is there anybody in the market right now because there's still some players available but i mean notice. Anybody is the guy that i mentioned. That may be the pirates would move. I could certainly see that. I'm looking right now to see if there's anybody else in wooden costs bad Pity throws left handed. So maybe they ring up cole. Hamels who would be really good fit for them. If he's healthy. I mean i know exactly eight. He wanted to pitch. I kinda forgotten about him. Because tony grovonni gio gonzalez signed with the marlins. Yesterday single it out would have been a good fit to for the bullpen. Not bad taste. I think hamels is a really really good call. You know I mean just on health looking like via trade who they could get you know own some of those the bronco make sense to that. That is an interesting call out As far as if they don't replace them knowing they just kind of go with what. They've got prospect. Luiz garcia is who we saw in on roster resource into the rotation there. He's got. He's got a little bit of injury here Justin he throws super hard got potential. They hit ondo and you know really good. Slider he looks more like a reliever offramp If if the if the change of doesn't quite come along. But i don't know the fast in fact. Actually eric said it's more a slur but he calls in a-plus lerve with the with the big heater so i don't know there could be some. There could be some stuff here again. I feel like he's more relief but they might have to put him into starting rotation right now And maybe i could see him. Working with a ryan stanton who opens for him and then passes it to luis garcia. Would you be interested in. Luis garcia in the fifty round draft and old yet for sure and a fifth year old. Take that gamble. I i wonder if he starts in the minors. Stretch out to stretch out. Though i mean there is no minors right now right. Yeah get delayed laces Season so this is gonna be the old sites So he will likely be at that old site in. And i haven't checked their scheduled to see like do they even need a fifth starter to start the year so check that while you're looking at but yet you brought that up. I didn't put that on the run down it for aaa delayed a month So that's annoying. I mean why. By the way i think cova concerns. Oh i guess that's fair. So yeah i i mean here's the thing like i think that This goes back to what we talk about with the expanded playoffs and stuff. I think there's lots of things still in the works right now. They're i think they're trying to figure out how this is all going to work in In so i think we could have you know we were supposed to. I mean the aaa season was supposed to start like you. Know what a week after the major league season And they've all sudden with no warning. Change that so i definitely think there there could be more changes coming We'll see what happens with that. But in terms of d like luis garcia. I do think he you know. He has some command issues At times in in to see where he's at in terms of being stretched out as a starter brand baloch is a guy that would that in their rotation. i think he could be a guy that The us as well. I might be like using super interesting for fantasy necessarily but Garcia would be if his command is What about About prospect francis martez who was suspended for twenty Could he come back here. I mean i don't know. He has hit five innings pitched in twenty nineteen Not a whole lot. Pigeons twenty innings in two thousand eighteen. I don't know what availibility he'd have but he did pitch some of it in triple a. He's reached the highest level of the minors. So i don't know or or hello the obvious answer for its time you know. I can't remember. Who said i think it was james anderson over over at has said like he could be a number that someone in the organization told him he ono's craig Got our new guy from they used to be with astros Goats kevin goldstein. Yeah he said like like he has the widest range of outcomes of any pitcher in the minor leagues like he could never see the majors or it could be a number two starter so like the. That's pretty. That's pretty bast yet. But may be in a position where they need someone right. The rotation was already the weakest point of their team and now they just lost a piece that they were going to heavily rely upon. Yeah yet he was going to be a big deal from is going to be a big deal for them and now like i said he's staring down a potential season ending surgery for that finger. So that's that's bad wound down your board big time. I don't even know that. I'd really take the gamble. Obviously there's a price for everybody and if you're in a draft today and he ended up being like pick four hundred or something. Sure but i. I am avoiding him at meeting. He's still there. In the last round at tgif g fbi. Like i'll take you know. Maybe i'll take the gamble who knows. We'll say we knew it depends what news we get if it's still kind of up in the air. Sure but anything that isn't you know if it gets dirty news and it's like he's gonna miss four months then i'm not i'm not bothering with it or in the fall season. Obviously he's out then so we'll keep an eye on that but it is a big hit for houston and for the fantasy market because farmer bell dez had a lot of his proponents Ready to kind of draft him as a number two number three for their rotations. That's that's really tough there. Another guy that maybe they would bring on born in your fantasy rotation a few picks after that maybe you did. This was nate pearson. Who now has a groin strain. How many shares of pearson d has seven. Oh no no no. Yeah it's not good now. It is a great one Which is the lowest grade. You can get. There is no great zero So there.

"So that's a bit concerning but I mean she's got a really really strong base Bruce k gold guy from my website friends. Fancy benefits has been kind of updating every few hours the race between us on twitter with the projections with about the all team. Yeah the bats projections and she's been beating me the entire way she's ahead of me and picks but she has been beating. Yeah this has been one of the most fun battles to watch between you two and how everything is playing out and like i said i think she's doing a great job. Can we usually picks next here. Maybe maybe we'll get the pick while while i'm make pick so i will not. Oh were pretty much on the in the spots. We have the exact same amount of players. Now she's in twelfth. I'm in its wealth round so she is on the clock. She has two hours left in four four or five six wet will. Hopefully we get If hers comes through let us know. And we'll see you get on the clock as well. Let's continue and i'm sorry the first victory lap of twenty twenty one and asked to be on you know like i said i always wanted to be wrong here but i just didn't see it after a certain cutoff point year with the da age and it looks like the agent expanded. Playoffs are considered dead right now for twenty. Twenty one Are you finally conceding or you still holding out. Hope i'm still holding out. Hope i only joking. No i i i mean you're asking i'm holding out. Hope on holding out. Hope do i now believe it will definitely happen absolutely a so. I mean here's the thing. Like i still feel like there are teams and we saw this with the signing. We'll talk about here a little bit. That are acting like there may be and You know like we talked about last time. They put together and expanded playoffs in day before the season. So like changing. It wasn't the d. h. unlocked before that like substantially before that i believe it was but i mean it's not like that takes much to change like if you know so do i think it could still happen yes. Am i confident that it will happen. Like i was two days ago. No i i'm not much more in like a twenty percent chance will happen in an eighty percent. Chance won't which is a huge bummer for me Almost as big bummer as injuries were about to talk about. We're going to get into a big pair pitcher injuries here in the signing a potential playing time Maneuver here but yeah you know like i said there was that that cutoff there where i just kind of lost my hope and now i mean i think twenty percent might even still be too high. I think it's like two percent ending is ninety right now. A more optimistic person. Excuse me you heard. I did hear that was that that was where the excuse me came from michael dead or see what she thinks about that. all right. I'm sorry 'cause think like this guy but from rebel dez is in some big trouble. Right now is a big finger. issue that When it first came out i was like. Oh that sucks Even though i'm fading him. I'm i never root for injury. I don't I don't basking in the injuries of players. Just because. I'm not drafting them. But i was like eight. That's going to be a little bit of time. That's okay nothing crazy now. They're saying that. This fractured could could possibly cost him season ending surgery on his fractured left. Ring finger so that's brutal. Not just for fantasy folks but also for the astros. Because while i am fading him it's not because i thought he was going to be in loser who what wouldn't pitch well for them. I just felt like more high threes low fours. era than than something more Fantasy special there. So that's gonna cut a big leg out from under their station but it's cutting a leg out from some of your fancy rotations right. Doug jodi have some some from shares. Yeah i've got him in four leagues after we kinda talked about him in my sp starting our espy rankings. I did lower him. I'm pretty sure to air while we're talking. And so i don't have maybe as many shares as i would have had we not have that conversation and it's why i really like going through the entire player pool by position. 'cause you know you turn me around on some guys i turn your routes and guys so i dropped him to thirty three I'd like combos. Yeah yeah and so. I haven't been four leagues in. None of them are like big money. Leagues it's three like an spca fifties while to sbc fifties one oc qualifier and then a draft champion. So kinda sucks it through. Those leagues or trafton holds true. But you have gobs of talent a lot you know you know. Cover that hopefully. And i'm i'm glad that the the oc qualifier got him a twelve team leagues. So i can drop in. There's still plenty on the waiver wire to make them up. I mean it's super disappointing. Because i did like him and he you know he had a really really great season last year in a like to see if he could kind of build on that But yeah it sounds like he could miss the entire season which that is a really tough for the astros. Who then you know also lost out on jackie bradley. Jr. we'll talk about your in a few minutes and so now like they.

San Francisco Giants expected to sign infielder Tommy La Stella
"Reaching an agreement or in conversations trying to sign. Ah, pretty good player, and it'll be the longest deal that far out. Assigned anyone to in his tenure is Giants president of baseball Ops and it's Ah, Tommy lost Ella, the former Oakland A. The former and I'm Angel. What do you know about this? One of the details of this and what do you think of the movie Carrie not just the longest deal. But according to Susan Slusser, the sample Scott Chronicle who just put this out on Thursday morning could be the biggest deal the giant have given out under far anxiety is she Saying it's in the neighborhood of 19 million. I had heard really close to what jerks and pro far got from the San Diego Padres, which was three years 21 million. And so right around that three years 20 million years, beginning gaining 6.5 7 million average annual value, which to me eyes a little bit surprising because the Giants don't like to make long term commitments. This is going to be the first player that they've really said You were going to be a part of the future when we think that we can win again. And I think that Tommy lost Ella It's not just a win in 20 to 2022 or 2023 move. It's also a hey, Let's see what we can do in 2021. Let's see if you know the Padres of the Dodgers get severe injuries or something chaotic happens where there's issues with them where the Giants are all of a sudden challenging for the second wild card spot because the NL East is going to be tough. There's gonna be teams that emerge from there, but you look at this light up and Tommy was selling. Let's assume he hits leadoff for the Giants against right handed pitchers. You remember lineup that has Mikey's Trump Ski Brandon Belt, Alex Dick. Person Tommy La Stella and Brandon Crawford probably getting down in the seventh race lot. That's gonna be really good. That's gonna be a really, really tough light up on these pictures in the National League. And so the patients the plate discipline the amount of balls that are in play with these guys. It's just a group that kind of syncs up really well, so he was always going to be the most obvious edition. And I think that it's no surprise to anyone who follows the Giants, whose followed far anxieties tenure that he was the guy they ultimately settled on for their left handed back. Yeah, I think the question

Fueled by Cody Bellinger, Dodgers-Padres brings down (empty) house
"Dodgers go up to the PADRES. They got a big play from cody bellinger and this one is he robbed Fernanda tease junior of a homer in the seventh. It was a one game at that point manager Dave Roberts appreciative of the reigning NL MVP players make great place on you know in big moments and cody did just that and they went up six three, and then they had to hold on from there for six five victory Kenley Jansen having some trouble in the Ninth Joe Kelley came on he had to work out of trouble nail down the save padres had the bases loaded with Eric Hosmer at the plate before Kelly, was able to. End It, Clayton Kershaw watching from the dugout was confident over doubt? No no never doubt re we had it in our hands. That's how that's how Joe Kelley roles you know Joe Likes to make it interesting for us and we'll see what they do moving forward. Robert said say off to take a look at his closer's role and who they're going to use the rest of the way, and by the way the Machado thing barking at the dodgers was after the Bellenger play because I guess he didn't they didn't like the way some of the dodgers came out to celebrate the catch. So they were actually John at each other at the end of the seventh inning or the top of the seven. The, padres were calling out the dodgers for the way that they celebrate Bruce Dr Gras. I, guess when a little too far celebration I haven't seen the video of sounds like a pharmaceutical. I did see ballinger and bets coming off the field obviously they were out to congratulate Bellenger it's a great catch and then all of a sudden you see the dodgers looking over and Machado's got his bat in his hand and he's barking at them and I guess tat tease junior said something as well, and they're just shouting back But the padres have celebrated the entire year.

MLB shuts down Marlins and Phillies, revises schedule for NL East, AL East teams amid COVID-19 outbreak
"Yesterday. Four additional members of the marlins tested positive that brings the total to seventeen members of their traveling party so that then lead to well, the nationals had been scheduled to play a three game series against the marlins starting Friday. In Miami. A majority of the Washington players voted against that yesterday, the decision on whether Games are played. Played rests with Major League Baseball, however, not with the nationals, but the league then did agree with the nats and postponed all of Miami's games through Sunday. So they're now not scheduled to play basically for the rest of the week that includes games originally scheduled for today and tomorrow in Baltimore against the Orioles, who will now instead host the Yankees for two game series starting tonight. Remember the Yankees had two games canceled or postponed that we're supposed to be in Philadelphia over the last couple of days. So Jeff here they are major league baseball for perfectly understandable reasons rearranging their schedule on the fly. What more can you tell us? Greenie. A schedule is a schedule, and till it is not and that's the scenario that Major League baseball is facing right now with the Miami Marlins. The idea that they are even going to complete sixty games simply is not possible at this point there points in the schedule where they can make up that three-game series against the nationals possibly, but the four games that they're going to be missing against. The Baltimore? Orioles. Orioles, they don't have enough off days to do that. Let alone to string series together like this. So Major League Baseball's looking scenario in which at least one team or two. If you include, the Orioles are going to be playing fewer than sixty games. Now, it helps that the marlins are probably going to be at the bottom of the National League east the Orioles are going to be at the bottom of. Of, the American League East, that these aren't the teams that are going to be in playoff contention that said this may not be the only time. We see this happen during this season. So at least there is a precedent being set early
US eyes building nuclear power plants for the Moon and Mars
"US wants to build nuclear power plants that will work on the moon and Mars and on Friday put out a request for ideas from the private sector on how to do that. The US Department of Energy put out the former requests to build what it calls a vision surface power system that could allow humans to live for long periods in harsh space environments, the Idaho National Laboratory a Nuclear Research Facility in eastern Idaho. The Energy Department and NASA will evaluate the ideas for developing the reactor. The lab's been leading the way in the US on advanced reactors, some of them micro reactors and others that can operate without water for cooling water cooled. Nuclear reactors are the vast majority of reactors on earth. Small nuclear reactors can provide the power capability necessary for space exploration missions of interest to the federal government. The Energy Department wrote in the notice published Friday the Energy Department NASA and Battelle Energy, Alliance, the US contractor that manages the Idaho National Laboratory plan to hold a government industry webcast technical meeting in August, concerning expectations for the program. The plan has two phases. The first is developing a reactor design. The second is building a test reactor, a second reactor to be sent to the moon and developing a flight system in lander that can transport the reactor to the moon. The goal is to have a reactor flight system and. Ready to go by the end of twenty six, the reactor must be able to generate an uninterrupted electricity output of at least ten kilowatts, the average US residential home, according to the US, Energy Information Administration us about eleven thousand kilowatt hours per year. The Energy Department said it would likely take multiple linked reactors to meet. The power needs on the moon or March. In addition to reactor can't way more than seventy seven hundred pounds be able to operate in space, operate mostly autonomously and run for at least ten years. The Energy Department said. The reactor is intended to support exploration in the south polar region of the moon. The agency said a specific region on the Martian surface for exploration hasn't yet been identified. Edwin Lyman the director of Nuclear Power Safety at the Union of concerned scientists, a nonprofit said his organization is concerned. The parameters of the design and timeline make the most likely reactors those that use highly enriched uranium which can be made into weapons. Nations have generally been attempting to reduce the amount of enriched uranium being produced for that reason, this may drive or start an international space race to build and deploy new types of reactors, requiring highly enriched uranium. Earlier this week. The United Arab Emirates launched an orbiter to Mars, and China launched an orbiter lander and rover. The US has already landed rovers on the Red Planet and is planning to send another next week. Officials say eating nuclear reactor on the moon would be a first step to building a modified version to operate in the different conditions found on Mars Idaho national. Laboratory has a central role in emphasizing the United States global leadership in nuclear innovation with the anticipated demonstration of advanced reactors on the NL L. Site John Wagner Associate Laboratory director of IANAL's nuclear science and Technology Directorate said in a statement. The prospect of deploying an advanced reactor to the lunar surface is as exciting as it is

"Covers the Saint Louis Cardinals for the Saint. Louis Post dispatch and Derek last year. The cardinals offense. It felt at times like it was their their liability. They had overcome. What do you see in their lineup? This year well not much change. I mean you're exactly right. It was something that the pitching in Kerry they had to. They had to be run prevention teen. 'cause they weren't going to be a run creation team from that run prevention team in that lineup. That we so much. All they've done is decided to let their cleanup hitter walkaway And Double Down on. Some of the guys who struggled last season back carpenter is going to be a key to less than they think they can get. Aggregate that's their Buzzword in aggregate they can get the production that are going to provide better from a collection of guys And maybe they don't like a young Dylan calls but it they didn't do much to address it except for a rely on hope and their internal algorithms that say last year on out liar and this year has to be better. Well you may have already mentioned his name in your is the most pivotal player on the team. Probably Well Matt Carpenter. Yeah I think I think Matt Carpenter into. That's that's a really good question to answer that question. I tend to go like okay if they're missing him. Where's the widest gap like? Where's the biggest drop off? And maybe Matt Carpenter isn't the answer then Matt Carpenter's the key to getting the offense. They think the whitest gaffe actually might be because they might not school run. It might be Jack Flaherty You Know Jack flared. He being exceptional not historic but being exceptional is what elevates this pitching staff from really good and deep to exceptional and deep and if he can be calm the ace that the that a lot of things a lot of people expecting his stuff and talent and determination certainly say then. I I think I think the cardinals are going to have a kind of theme where they can suppress others and and get by with a an offense that searches of it. They've got a lot of alternatives in the outfield. That to me and I don't cover the team every day like you do but that looks like the one place where you might see some growth in their offense guys stepping up. How do you think they're gonNA handle handle that group? And how do you think they will utilize various players? You're absolutely right. That's where it has to come from any sort of bounce that the offense is going to have to get While we talk about Matt Gardner Being Matt Carpenter just to compliment that supplement. That it's augmented. It's gotta come from the outfield. That means improvement from Harrison. Baiter await defensive player who had a very difficult offensive last year. Just well an average around two hundred on base receptors. It sank below three hundred nine even what they could really rely on from. A number eight hitter left field is in play. Tyler. O'neal Lane Thomas. Those are the guys have been digging it out with prospect Dylan Carlson for playing time and to Kinda get attention Then Dexter Fowler isn't right field they have so many options that these guys are gonNA enter the season possibly with dealing costs and in triple A. And then the other two guys bought call some looming. Carlson being a a real top end elite talent. And a lot of promise for not just the future. But for wha- impact he can have on twenty twenty. That's going to mean that the cardinals don't have to wait as long for these other guys to produce before they replace him You will see some shuffling in and out Especially with the versatility of these guys can play center for example If guys struggle and they will look for the trio that connects and catches fire. Or they'll continue shufflings room until they find it. There's always a question when it comes to rookies about when the team's going to be prepared to promote them. What do you see with the cardinals with Carlson? Yes so entering spring. They set up. Kind of three prong spoke with John Mosaic. About this early on in camp. And he kinda set up like a three level tests To get Dylan. Carlson to opening day said one dylan calls and has to press the issue and he did there and opening reeks where he was in the conversation. You're playing as well as anybody being factor in rallies You know very mature more of you know hitter very very appealing kind of just a presence. mature beyond his years so he did force the issue to Other guys had this ruggles meaning lane. Thomas Salary Neil. That really hasn't happened. They haven't taken the back dollar has not had a robust spring So we'll see how that plays out. He's been searching a little bit wanting to get some results in that final week of spring To kind of catapult as far as momentum goes into the regular season I'm so too is still unknown. You know the other guys have to shrink back as well as Dylan coming ahead and and three this is the big one is. He has to be a starter. He's not going to go to the majors on opening day. If he's a fourth outfielder he's GonNa be the everyday player he's GonNa have to that in spring and the other guys are going to have to have progress to a point where they need to be a part of it They see Dylan being a starter at some point in time for them. They're not really a team. That has massage service time. They'd put the onus on trying to get a guy up and keep a guy with an extension feeling might be the player who breaks that trend because they have alternatives and because that seventh years appealing and they can't ignore it. Give me a wind guesstimate on the twenty twenty cardinals. All things being equal. Do I presume health in all regards? Probably so I think this is ninety. You know what I may. She's ninety two win team You Know Paul Goldschmidt. Rio Awakens Matt Carpenter. Re Animates You Know Goldsmith had a good year last year but he didn't get a whole lot of help and did get to do a whole lot of damage guys on base And the offense works out. You know let's say less than they hope but better than last year. I think. That's a reasonable expectation. Pitching is just so robust. And so I think you know this time of year buster. I tend to follow the pitching as far as what was going to be the best in the Vision. And the cardinals. Right now are the deepest. And they've had the most the most effective pitching and I don't see any reason why they will change so that seems reasonable sort of a carbon copy of last year's team now. I got one more for you. This is it feels like and you've covered the cardinals for a long time. This field long right more. It feels like one of the more bizarre years in the National League Central. The way these teams are where you see. The potential the reds. The brewers are obviously made the playoffs the last couple of years but they didn't make a lot of big moves and it feels like the cubs are ready to hit the trap door and started a lot of changes. How do you see this division of an identity crisis? Twenty twenty right like You know the reds are the team. You know the things they've been built to make a real run not just at the division but maybe something beyond that and success in October and they have every right to. I mean they've been the most aggressive team. They've been the most assertive and they're pitching was sneaky. Great last year If they get their offense. Turn around in that ballpark. We'll help that. I mean let's not door that that ballpark can turn some you know Average hitters into titans and if they get that and they get a repeat of the pitching for last year. That's a really strong team You know the cubs. The the dynasty delayed is now what the dynasty derails. They certainly aren't the dynasty promised. And I think that has them looking at okay. Where did that go wrong? How can they how can they? You know we get back on track and do they need a year to do it or is this the year the last year of that window? It's fascinating time and you know. The brewers have sort of a patchwork roster that they're going to get by because they have an exceptional manager and you know he can kinda pull things together with the best of them and get the most out of a roster. That doesn't on paper look like it meshes all that. Well it's kind of like The wrong pieces from three different Jigsaw Puzzles but council put together to make it a really good picture so yeah it's a fascinating time in the division. I think it has the potential to and I mentioned the pirates so I didn't mention the pirates but you know I think it's a fascinating division because there isn't that team that stands out as the strongest. There's the cardinals who stand out as the perennial contender the reds now as the Challenger and the cubs as and brewers as the teams who their time atop the throne wasn't as long as they thought it would be. And so do they try another run at it or do they take a step back and Retrenching and afford another year. It's just that I don't know. I think I think July could be really fascinating in this. Division wouldn't shock me at all if the cardinals come out very strong in this division but by the end you're looking up and going the reds of the better team. Yeah it's the most fascinating division. There's no doubt about it With the way where the teams are all right. Derek thanks for doing this always a pleasure. Buster thank you very much split. Your tweets already buster bleacher tweets for Tuesday lead off with Debbie Gammons Brown again. The biggest contract the as have ever given was in two thousand and two the team has had considerable success and loyal fans. Why won't can't they ever have money to pay a-list players that's right and the reference there is to something that Susan Slicer said on our American League West Preview Which we posted on Monday look It's amazing aides had the success. They've had despite the fact that they haven't had much revenue. They haven't had much money to spend. Let's face it. It's not gonNA get significantly bigger where they could really compete toe to toe financially with other teams until they get a new ballpark. Now we keep on hearing about baby steps. Getting a new ballpark for the athletics. But who knows? We'll all this stuff going on in the bay area shutdown. How that's GonNa Affect any sort of ballpark conversation? As I've always said you know the the athletics ballpark situation reminds me of Charlie Brown and lie and And Lucy and the football being pulled away because it seems like every time we hear that it's right around the corner. The football gets pulled away. The stadium disappears. I'm waiting for shovels in the ground. Taylor yes seriously. I mean it's Kinda crazy too. I mean we see these shots of the sewage. Coming up through the the dugouts like I don't understand the stadiums dump like they need to do something about it. Ownership needs to do something about it. I mean I think these owners they wait around for the sweetheart stadium deals. If you want a new stadium you just you gotTa build it yourself man. Sorry that's what it's all right next tweet here from Rachel at South Underscore Pau thirteen. She writes in all right baseball twitter. Who Do you think has the best fastball in the majors? Right now I think it's Pearson of the blue. Jays Noah syndergaard has been I think at the top of that leaderboard and I'm talking about starting pitchers You know roll. Chavan for years held that title but he was a relief. Pitcher among starting pitchers right now nate Pearson. And as we talked about on the PODCASTS. He's got that sorta delivery inside where just looks easy for him to throw one hundred and two hundred and three miles per hour last one up for today Carlos Muna's at Carlos Almighty rights in. When do you think the latest the season could start before they just decided to cancel the twenty twenties altogether? You know I'm GonNa draw on what happened in one thousand nine hundred four when the players went on strike at the beginning of August and then in the middle of September Bud. Selig then the acting commissioner for Baseball announced that they were GONNA cancel the postseason September fifteenth. Is I think that time when we would start to get really concerned about them having any baseball this year As I mentioned I wrote a column with a bunch of ideas. And I'll just rod one now a Taylor that I had that I wrote about that. This might be the year first off. That baseball is certainly going to be played potentially into November and made even December and how `bout neutral site world series identified ahead of time. So that You could pick way in advance places like Texas new ballpark or maybe Arizona's chase field where you can say we're GonNa play the American League Championship Series National League Championship series the world series in a warm weather site so you don't have to worry about whether ramifications you liked that. I liked a lot. I I'm in for I think with all these leagues. Everything is on the table. And I'm like fascinating to see how it's all GonNa shake out you know like the NBA. There's been talk could do a little tournament. I people keep writing in about that for for baseball. So whatever we see two to spice it up again. Minor thing in all of this but that could definitely be a lot of fun and that'll do it for bleacher tweets for today. We've got all of our division previews out of the way if you haven't caught any definitely scroll back through the feed buster going to blast out a tweet with all the links attached to it and we will have David freeze tomorrow. "This is Neil two point. Oh you know it is a lot of times. The same kind of quote The same kind of public image from him. But I think with Ben Some of the background. Some of the flavoring that he's gone through is different than it. But the O.`Neil the pirates job is just first time as a big GM and he was coming from the you know the Cleveland Indians slash. Montreal Catholic was the the Expos as well for a while then. has has been with the Toronto Blue Jays. He's been obviously with the Boston. Red sox where he helped put together a team that won a world championship. And that's kind of experience that was kind of lacking with the previous group not to say that they didn't know how to win. It's just they didn't. I don't think that reflexively go make the kind of thing would have made the kind of decisions and is GonNa Make. It comes things just a little bit of a different view on things. He has a different kind of relationship with a lot of the other general managers in club officials. That he's going to have to deal with and sometimes it's little things like that can really make a bigger difference and especially for club like the pirates that place it's so close to the margins in so many ways you know it's more than just you know pinching every nickel and dime it's getting the most out of every minor league signing the get the draft pick every international signing There's still room for error. That a guy like Ben who who has stood broader scope of experience worldview in baseball. Some of those differences may turn out to be bigger things down the line. Now Tyler Glass now used to pitch for the pirates. He's now with a raise. He made some really interesting comments recently. About how he felt like that. The pirates were behind which is fascinating. Because you know this and I know this at eight or ten years ago. They reviewed his perhaps. The most progressive organization is at a feeling shared within the pirates organization. It is I think to a degree that right before the team kind of took off civil in two thousand thirteen fourteen and fifteen there was a sense that the pirates were ahead of the curve that they were doing things you know for the ray series. The pitching coaches the pitcher whisperer. They were doing things with shifts much more frequently and much earlier than a lot of big league clubs but I think there was any situation in a work environment. These can kind of set away and there can be like a little sense of complacency makes the kind of settles in after a while. A sense of this is the way we've always done. It always is just means the past. You know five or six years and in a game like baseball has changed so much so rapidly over the past half decade you. We can't afford to do that and I think you know. Let's say it's right or wrong? But I think some of the vision of the past management group discovered shortsighted got comfortable with their own ways and stopped really looking beyond what they had done before. That's where I think there's a sense now. I mean we can just see that little things like the there are cameras and there was a you know everywhere every time anybody pinch In the past there would just be a one or two front office. People Watching Guy. Pitch now he really used. The pitcher evaluated from every angle to minute fraction of evidence. As to what? He's doing just little things like that weren't there before that and they're being made more open and accessible to the players than the past. Maybe that information wasn't shared that there was a judging beforehand of this is going to be helpful. This is not then. We're going to talk about or stuff way now. It's maybe more so on the players incumbent upon them to make those judgments do what's GonNa Be Right. Ninety seconds left three questions for you. GimMe the name of a young player. Who spent most of the last year in the minor leagues are all blacks during the Minor Leagues? Who could make an impact in the big leagues? This year. Brian Hayes Third Baseman You know former high draft pick pretty much consensus top one or two prospect in this organization. Fantastic love work The offense is okay. They expect more from him more power. They expect more gap power. And that's the big question now. If you can translate it'd be complying with any of them and they translate to the big league level but the globe work already as big league ready. It's been he's been ready for the major leagues to play at Third Base for the past year to who were the names of the most marketable veterans presumably. There'll be looking to flip. Some of those guys during the season can only come into the closer Has has a big arm. Has that closer mentality that you love to see And I I think you know he's GonNa be he's GonNa be a free agent after this season. There's no inclination from the Front Office to try to extend him with a team. That's kind of a little bit. Maybe the last piece that you need to go get is. Is that an elite level closer so I think restarted sees a guy that gets traded by giant flight. Thirty one if they could try to take Chris Archer would probably love to do that. I think they would love to sever their ties with that deal. Admit it was a bad deal for the club and move on. They need archer to get out of the gate fast and then try to move him again in July again. Give me a number for a guesstimate of wins. This year. Seventy five go back and forth a mental see. This is a is a sixty nine when club and I don't see it quite five hundred yet either Especially second half of the season after they traded some guys if different all the different sorting disclosable need to get back on. So let let me go as a as a high end of seventy five. All Right Rob. Thanks for doing this. Hey No prompt us. During timing pickup gold.

"He's like the closer and he's been an anchor a buoy of sorts for allow younger relievers or guys who more or less struggled last year. So before you go give me a guesstimate on a win. Total for the MARLINS knowing that they're playing a really difficult good vision beyond makes it a lot tougher. I expect improvement on. If everything works right I do the team. Probably hitting the seventy five win mark but I say anywhere between fifty five and seventy five would be would be realistic for this team this year. All right Jordan. Hey thanks for taking the time to do this. Talk with you. Oh likewise again. I appreciate the I appreciate invite is the sideline reporter for us. And why covering the mets and Mr Gelb described the mets spring training and the level of expectations. Buster the spring. So far has been very quiet kind of a a welcome going about your business type vibe with this team. I think that there was a a real sense at the end of last season that if the season would have just been one or two weeks longer this team would have gone to the playoffs and and had a chance to do something special. They played The Washington nationals really closely last year. They've played really well and I think watching the nationals. Go on and win. The World Series gave the group a sense that you know. We're not too far away. We can do this too so you know it's been a real kind of okay. We've got some unfinished business. Fields to camp so far in the expectations are as high as can be really. You know. It's it's certainly playoffs or bust. And I think there's a lot of people in that room that feel like this is a legitimate world series contender and and that's the way that they're approaching things going into the season. Take a guy in the roster who you view is really pivotal It's hard to go with anyone other than Wendy. As this point I think if you look at last season that bullpen is the sole reason why the mets didn't get to where they want to go to one eighty six games and they're both been for. The most part was an unmitigated disaster. For a large part of the season you know if Edwin de as is just average last season this team probably wins three four five more games and and you're talking about them as a legitimate playoff team so Edwin de as is the pivotal guy to me to a lesser extent. You can talk about any one of those guys at the back of the bullpen. That needs to have a balanced back year. Whether the whether it's familia whether it's down but Tana's who just needs to be healthy and do what he's done for his career. I think if you get one to two of those guys having averaged two very good seasons according to their career norms than this bullpen is really formidable and this team becomes that much more formidable but top of the list. Spf Wendy s and just a quick. Follow up what have you seen in this spring? What's your sense of how he's feeling about himself so he's been okay. Had A bit of a shaky first outing and actually after the game talked about how he had a little bit of anxiety. Going into the game. so I think he's putting a lot of pressure on himself. He's looked better since the stuff. Is there the stuff? Really? Was there most of last season. It was a lot of command issues and You know missing his spots so I think it's. It's still a wait and see. He says that he feels much better. He did some work with Pedro Martinez. This offseason they were in constant contact feels like mechanics just needed a little. Bit of tweaking So He seems relatively competent confident. The one thing I will say though buster if you were to say who are you most competent. We'll have a bounceback season especially out of those three guys. It's Jerry's familiar. I know that you've heard and you've probably seen just you know pictures and video of him. This guy looks like a completely different person. He lost thirty pounds It's not just a a thirty pounds of losing fat. He is he is cut now. He is really. You know we hear all the time. Oh this guy's in the best shape of his life but with Jerry's familiar he truly is in the best shape his life and what it's allowed him to do talking with talking with coach is really. Get the stride back. That he was missing last season he was. He was really unable to loosen up. A lot of his muscles is hips and he wasn't getting good extension on any of his pitches and so I think getting back to where he was a couple of years ago. In addition to changing grip a little bit on a splitter which is added a nice dip to the splitter and a little bit of velocity difference between that and it's fast ball He's very confident everybody. In spring you talked with the headers. That's the one guy that they point do as the guy that is is officially back. And so I'm more confident and Jerry's familiar at this point than I am Edwin Diaz but this is look better as of late. I thought you would take the as is a pivotal guy If you would pick Noah syndergaard that wouldn't have shocked me. What are we seeing him this year? Because obviously it'd be huge for them if he were to step up. Yeah he's he's number two for me if you ask about pivotal players and I think that's just because especially with the loss of Zack Wheeler. You know what you're going to get into Graham but after that it's really a question mark down the line and that's starting rotation and syndergaard has the stuff to really be that one a that second as we've seen it in the past we didn't see a last year he's looked really good so far in spring again talking to the hitters. That's someone else that they've pointed to as someone that has looked sharp early on in spring Again it's GonNa be a wait and see the one thing I will say about syndergaard and the same can be said for mass as well is. They seem to have really taken to Germany. Hafner as their pitching coach. And you know the one thing that that has happened and happened last year to is that the mets have really beefed up their analytics department. But I think last season they didn't get the buying from a guy like syndergaard. Necessarily a guy like masks because all of the information was confusing to them and this off season between Jeremy Hefner between some visits from from some of the analytics guys. They've really gotten syndergaard to understand what he needs to do. Based on the numbers and to make more digestible to him so syndergaard feels much better now about his four seam fastball. What he needed to do to get that right on the fastball. So it wasn't as straight as we've seen it at times last season and his four seam fastball. He says is going well. Then everything else is. Working off fit nicely. So he's really confident there's GonNa be a bounceback year for him and he looked apart so far in spring. That's for sure so it's Syndergaard can come back. Get back to anything that he was prior to last season It again makes this team. That much more formidable. Because you've got the gram and a vintage syndergaard. I don't know that you see a better one to across major league baseball one minute left two more questions for you. What are you seeing year to Pete Alonso? Well he's actually had a bit of a slow start this spring training. But it's tough to think that anything's GonNa really get this guy. He you know he's he's working to to get more comfortable and and to get to where he was once. You started the season last year but I think he's GonNa be just fine. I've never seen a guy and this is true story. I've never seen a guy in my now. Seven years covering team that has put in more work on a day in day out basis to get to where he wants to be. So I think he's GonNa be fine. You're GONNA hit fifty. Three home runs No I don't think that that's realistic to expect that back to back seasons but you know if they get another thirty five to forty home. Run season out of Alonzo Which is something. I think they can expect then. Then they're going to be really pleased with that. He's become one of the young leaders up this group. Future captain for this mets organization in my mind and before you go guesstimate on wins the two thousand twenty minutes. I'm going to go with eighty nine when they won. Eighty six games last year again like I said earlier with a bullpen. That was about as bad as could be for the first half of the season plus I think the bullpen is better this year. It has the potential to have you know a really really high ceiling and you know. Are they gonNA play the clip? They played in the second half where they were. Twenty Games over five hundred. Probably not but I think it's fair to think this team takes a step forward wins. You know three or four games and they WANNA see go and I don't think it's farfetched that they challenge for the NFL. He's yeah. I think I'M GONNA wind up being more aggressive than you and pick the mets to win the division. We'll see how it goes. All right Sir about that all right but covers the Philadelphia phillies for the Philadelphia Inquirer Scott. What's the state of the phillies rotation? Hey Plaster Yeah. At the top. Three are virtually set in stone Barring any injuries it's Air Nola Zack Wheeler and Jake Arrieta beyond that. There is a bit of a competition going on. I think Zach Kaplan is a fairly safe the number four spot although they haven't come right out and set it But he certainly has the inside track given that he had a pretty good season last year with a lull in the middle. He was pretty good at the beginning and pretty good at the end so I think he has the inside track there and then for number five. You know it's really a free competition right now. Between Vince. Alaska's Nick Profeta and Ranger Suarez. Who would be the only lefty in that rotation if you were to with the job so it's pretty much Still an open competition. There may be people Alaska's Has a little bit of an edge just given the way he's pitched this spring but Suarez has looked good as well and they're They're giving preventative chance to win. Back that job so Some holdovers there for the number five spot. That's really where things stand the most pivotal player on the roster for me might be Jake Arrieta. What about for you? Yeah I would agree with that. Look from a certainly from a pitch perspective I think that's the case I know how the Phillies feel about the back of their rotation. They feel like they have some some options. They're they're hopeful that Spencer Howard. Their top pitching prospect will be ready for the big leagues at some point this season and if they need a guy to be their fifth starter they need help back there they they think they can go find somebody during the year but they really need area lockdown number three spots because if he gets hurt or if he's ineffective then they need to go out and get more than just a number five starter at the trade deadline and that's going to be difficult for them to do without giving up either. Spencer Howard or Alex Fold Who are really they're taught to prospects that are farm system who they've really held on tight to and don't WanNa move at all so Yeah I would agree. You know look. Harrieta has not been healthy for the balance of his two seasons so far with the phillies when he When he has been healthy he's pitched okay but you know in eighteen has any problems down the stretch. It was really really bad for that August September and then last year for the majority of the year he pitched with a bone. Spur in his elbow was very good. So you know. They need him to be healthy and they need him too. General to be better So that the middle of their rotation is is somewhat stable. What's different under new manager? Joe Girardi I think the word I would describe his The word I would use to describe it as maybe it's a little bit more normal Maybe it's a little bit more traditional conventional.

"The braves of course National League East champion so mark going into this year. Who Do you think is the most pivotal player on the team? I think are GONNA be Swanson. We saw what you know. Some of its potential there at the beginning of last season. They got injured The decline offensively and defensively towards the end but he had a strong postseason You know I think if he can not only continue to provide a solid defensive shortstop but but provide enough that to lengthen this lineup beyond those those first four hitters. We all know what they're capable of. Then they may have that that Lineup death if they're going to need to compete and what will be a very tight race. You Watch the braves. Last year and you know that for a lot of the year a the biggest issue was their bullpen. What's the state of the bullpen? At the outset of this year I would say this is my twentieth season covering the braves. That's probably the best. The bullpen has been entering a seat. Do you think about where they've gone with. Luke checks You know being the closer most of last year now. He's a sixth inning. Guy Got Mark Melanson and and Will Smith They they they're continuing to designate milan-san as their clothes are I think will Smith will get twenty two save opportunities. We'll see how match ups You know set themselves up there in the late innings but you know depending on if there's some lefties but look being lefties and righties. Outta you got those two guys back there. It's going to be interesting to see what they do with with changing throughout the off season. I've wondered what they try to train. There's enough depth within this bullpen You know that that's an option. He's going to have a little bit better than he has. Your first few appearances that that may not be a big deal. But you know when you put those guys together. You Got Their Day In Luke Jackson did make strides lecture. He's not a closer but but now he's in the right role I think the interesting thing is what do you do with Sean Nukem? He he fits so well as a reliever last year. He's GonNa get a chance to to use of the starter maybe while called. Hamill's out that makes perfect sense but I think that you know he may be best utilized in that role As a reliever so he could factor into the mix baby beginning but You Know I. I think you're gonNA look at this. Bullpen as being you know six six maybe seven Two guys were you feel really good about What they're gonNA do when they enter again. You led me perfectly into my next question. Some health updates on a couple of guys Cole. Hamels Freddy Freeman. Well Pretty Freeman. That's fine you know. I think that Freddie came to camp. He was excited about how his oboe felt. I do think he just overworked itself. You know that that's you know I. I know some people might have been skeptical. That's just the way this We are in this world. You know how healthy is but I think he was just taking far too many slings and making far tomatoes during the first week. You can't just you know four months. Remove from surgery so these fine Astra Cole Hamels. We don't know you know I'm Brian. Snicker says it is far too early to even project when Cole will be clear. Start throwing so you know. I think when when they announced the coal is dealing with left shoulder information. You're thinking okay. He's GonNa miss all of the now. You know you get to this point. Three weeks left and campaign. He hasn't even was resumed throwing. He's going to have to start back to where he was January. I think you're looking mid May You know at best so when they do make these rotations this decisions with Kyle right and you know feeling has pitched well enough probably to get one of the two available spots But when you're you're making a decision with Sean Uka Mikhail Right. I think you have to think about the possibility of this is they could end up. You need about seven sparks maybe to compensate for for Hamels as absence. At least I do think it's You know we're going to be close to forty games of the season before before. Cold gets in there this spring. How is the third base competition playing out now? The Josh Donaldson moved onto the Minnesota twins. You know I- coming into camp. My I kept saying you know off their best with awesome rally at Third Base. But you can't allow spring training stats will you? So whatever Austin does down here at Spring Training That doesn't matter. Camargo should start the Season Third Baseman Sin Riley AAA give him a couple of weeks And then you know your hope is that not only does he provide power in the middle of your lineup but think tomatoes versatility strengthens your bench. right now the way. Riley looks you could. You're getting back to that. You know every year some guy continues to tease and say okay. He's fine he's ready. I I still think you need to to be careful. You know what he did at the end of last year But here here's the impressive thing. And you get moss for some run yesterday. But more importantly he's only struck out three times in nineteen at bats Here's a guy struck out. Forty percent of his plate appearances during the final three months last year He was swinging at every slider whether it was. You know anywhere near the plate Over the final few months I think he does have better Recognition than disciplined right. Now we know what kind of you know rob power he has. He's going to be the guy. Eventually the question is. Will they pull the trigger and give him the job at the beginning of the season? My guess right now March fourth no But at the same time In two weeks if he continues to do this it's going to make it even more difficult to send them to AAA but a look if you if you sent him to triple A. You you do it with the mindset. Just throw down there and do what you need to do for two weeks to make sure that you know prove to us. You are ready and then He gets in the middle of the lineup and once again like with Danby that helps lengthen everything beyond those first four hitters. One Minute left to get two questions for you one. What's in like watching Ronald Kunia? Junior mess with each other every day. That's a lot of fun I mean it's you know they're grown up now. They're older twenty three and twenty two now on but just You know they're always together. The these are. They're the best of friends you know that they make you laugh. They they keep you young and you know I'm you know that's that's that's all of us from a An outside perspective you know or you know from San or media perspective it makes you feel like They keep young. They do the same for their teammates. So it's Uh you know not only. Are they enjoying themselves? But they're making things much more Enjoyable within that clubhouse and a win total guesstimate on the braves. I'm guessing ninety two this. Is this the better team? And they had either the past two years But at the same time that divisions that much better I do think they win that division Ninety two with ninety two wins but Like I said the I think the phillies are going to be better. And you know we all know what the national be. We'll see what the mets can do but from top to bottom much division. So I I see the win. Total reduce you know. A reduction of wins but at the same time The result will be the same bill lender third straight division all right mark. Thanks for doing this all right. Thank you McPherson. Covers the Miami. Marlins for the Miami Herald what would represent progress for the Marlins in two thousand and twenty. Oh I would say first off more wins obviously going fifty seven and one five. Is You gotta go up from there? That can be seen a lot of the younger guys. Step Up. They have a lot of their prospect Edward Cabrera Monte Harrison Sanchez. Just name a few. Who are on the cusp of making it to the majors. If they can get this year and start showing some sort of progress. I feel like that'd be a win. In the MARLINS book how would you assess right now? The patients of the MARLINS ownership with what's gone on since they took over they've been patient but as their jere. Ceo Hall of Famer as he says he preaches patients but he had known they've gone through the first two years they've gone through dot com. This is the year that they they which is wants partners. They need to see progress here. That doesn't necessarily mean that. Used to be wild card contention or playoff contention but they have to take that step forward and by twenty twenty one. They need to start showing that they have a chance of being in the playoff from your perspective is communicating with fans. What do you think their response is going to be? Is the farm systems. Get better in some of those young players graduated into the big leagues. Hopefully the fans start seeing all of it. They've they've been as patient as ever. Obviously it's about longtime winning team. They understood the process that had to go on. They knew everything had to be torn. Down in order to be built backup. They've gone through the two years. See Don the younger guys on the cusp. They also see them Orleans making some findings the all season getting Corey Dickerson. Johnson be our basic idea to bring that buffer until younger guys already. And that's progress for them. They've seen the that's coming forward. They just WanNa see the production. Come on the field. Give me the name of a young players in the minors for a lot of last year. Who might have an impact in the big leagues? This year. This year I would have to go with Monte Harrison. He was one of the outfielders acquired in the Christian Yelich trade. He's more than likely within September. Call up last season. He didn't hurt his wrist. Blake and he's probably gonNA start in the minors for about a month. Maybe six weeks. Just get him some metro. Dax made sure he's ready to go and he could very well be a guy who's seeing right beal in right field. See a little bit and center. He's got some pop. He's got some speed. He has the makings of a baseball player. Who could make an impact in twenty twenty now? You mentioned the names of veterans. They added this spring. What it'd be seen in them in terms of making a difference in the clubhouse got clubhouse bear raining that veteran presence which is needed when you're clubhouse is primarily a lot younger guys the guys who are either getting to the majors for the first time or only been in for part of the season one season Corey dickerson has been preaching process. The process folks on the process and the results will come He's used Aguilar..

"All Right Chris. Paddock is working through his innings limitations. How much of an impact will they have this year? I think we'll have a much bigger impact and that's saying a lot. Considering the type of year he had last season I think for the most part. The rains will be taken off. And he's just he's just one of those guys that's hungry to be to get better every day and because of that. I think he's going to have a really big year. It just depends Some of it depends on how the padres how much the rains are taken off. That they're completely taken off. He can have a huge. Aren't they finished thirty? Six Games the dodgers last year and yet Ron Fowler. Part of their ownership has been outspoken about expecting a big your progress What's going to be acceptable? I think in the eyes of ownership at the very least they have think they have to be in it to the end. I mean right in the thick of wildcard. 'cause there's an I think. The dodgers have pushed the gap a little bit wider with the deal for bet some price. I think they've widened the gap a little bit posited their best to keep it close by by getting guys like Tommy bands. That are gonNA do great additions. But I think in order for Ron. Our Peterson good Moving forward I think the parties will have to be in it to the very end of the season much like they were to the break of last year. They'll have to you have to complete a full season that with that in mind if they're in a race. How aggressive do you think there'll be before the trade deadline? I think it'd be very aggressive. I think unlike last year when there are two games out at the at the All star break and they could've made news I think they realize now time is of the essence and I think they also feel like they're in a in a closer spot than they were last year I think Aj probably will be very aggressive at the break. Should the project is being in? And lastly give me a guesstimate on wins for the twenty twenty padres. Let's say eighty five. I think have a chance to finish in both winter. Question is will eighty five. Be Enough to get a wildcard spot. I think that remains to be seen but I think eighty five number form this year. And they're certainly be in the conversation As we go down the stretch if that's what they wind up winning Anthony. Thanks for doing this. No problem buster. Anytime papers play by play man for the San Francisco giants. You know him well. And I've thought of you this winter I gotta say Kype when Madison Bumgarner signed with the Arizona diamondbacks. I thought man. Nobody's going to be more brokenhearted. Dec- bumgarner leave the giants? Then you are. How difficult will that be to watch him pitch this year? Buster look anytime we lose farmers as friends on teams? It's a bad thing. And he's about as tough in about as good a farmer rancher. You know whatever that you're GONNA run into. I'll tell you what it's going to be a lot different. You lose a really big voice in the club. Uh and when I say voice. I don't mean he spoke a lot Just the mere fact that his presence was there. And and you know you weren't gonNA say anything stupid. You weren't GonNa do anything stupid because you know he would be the one guy that would That would straighten things out. So there's GonNa be a huge void. Not only what you get when he gets on the mom but also what he offers in the club but I do think to buster that given what the giants are trying to do with a lot of the analytics you know. How would've bus Bumgarner? Would you bought into that so I think that you know? Maybe maybe it was time for him to go but But it still makes it very sad for all of us. Yeah and I think this year to a lot of what Giants fans will be watching for is to see what they get from. Buster Posey and Brandon. Crawford what do you expect there? Well I think what's happening Buster is I mean. Look good capitalist got. I don't know thirteen coaches and In half of those coaches they're younger than Crawford and Posey and you know Longoria said something the other day in spring training. He didn't say to me. I think he said it to Henry. Show and that you know we've got players that are that are declining only because of age and if you keep doing the same thing you probably going to continue to decline so. I think they're willing to try different things now to see if they can put a pause on that and And I think that's how they're buying into it and they you know it's important that the older guys buy into it young guys have. They don't have a choice but the older guys if they can buy into it You know then you got a chance of maybe changing the culture a little bit. So we'll see what happens but you know I expect both of those guys to try to change from what they did last year whether it's in their stance whether it's in their thought process whether it's defensively. I I mean I think they're all not willing to change because they don't want that declined to continue. What were your first impressions of the work? That far hines eighty baseball obstinate in his first year. Well you know he got handed. A tough tough hand and I think the organization had an idea of what of what direction they wanted to go to and then I think Farhan had an idea of direction that he wanted to go into. And then I think at some point you know they had to come together and And realize that if you keep running out an older team then you're going to really run out of wins quickly for a long time. So you know he's you know he's done a really good job of of help. Restocking the minor league system you know he mean with Ron. It's the land of opportunity. I mean if you're twenty seven twenty eight twenty nine year old pitcher and an you've pitched a lot of years in the minor leagues and you've done okay. You're going to have an opportunity. And it doesn't mean a giants organization it could be from any organization. He is going to give you a chance. Got Forty pitchers in camp seventy two players so that she is the true definition of the land of opportunity. How quickly do you think that they the giants can can go through this process? We saw the diamondbacks. In recent years restructure their payroll Trade Goldschmidt Trades Cranky. Restocked the farm system and they looked to be in a better spot and What's your sense of how quickly the giants can do that. Well I don't know how many wins are going to have this year. Buster it could be seventy could be seventy five could be. Maybe if they really get lucky and everything works out you know. Maybe they can go beyond that that eighty number but I do think that when sorry. Han decided not to resign calar. I think it was the perfect example of how they feel about this year and how they feel about twenty one and twenty two. We're GONNA win X. amount of games with KHA LAR or without power and with Paul are. We're not gonNA find out who the Senate is going to be twenty one or twenty two. So that was his thinking. After this year the giants will have a good idea who their centerfield is going to be in the future. And I think that's basically a great example of what goes on in the mind of far Han You Know I. I am impressed with them. I mean they bought. They bought Coz art basically. They traded for closer to take his money. And they got their angels number-one pick who they wanted draft in the first place. So I mean that's kind of the things that they're trying to do. Yeah would the flexibility the financial flexibility there and his imagination. I you know people with other teams. Think that That you know they'll be making progress shortly and last one for you. Do you prefer. Holstein's our jerseys. Well you know what every time you drove boy. My Dad's dairy farm. It was all hosting I I'm not sure I saw the Jersey for like until I was eighteen years old driving to college. In Centerville Iowa was the first time I said to my dad. I said what is that he goes. Al East has everything that's going on with the Yankees and the Red Sox recently caused you to change your mind on. Who's winning the division? No I still think the Yankees or the overwhelming favourite to finish first place. I think the razor overwhelming favorites to finish second place with sale going down. I do wonder if the Jays are going to press the Red Sox for third place but it does feel very distinct tiers. I don't know if you agree with me Taylor but that's certainly I could see it playing out. Yeah I think gang keys are still in that top tier. I think the rays have a better shot than the the red SOx of the moment. And then you know the red sox probably be middling there and then Jason in my owes there at the bottom. So I'm still well. Yeah there's a distinct here for your os we can pencil fifth-place. I'm definitely taking the under on their win. Total over under here. I'M GONNA put a couple of dollars on that. I would encourage you to do the same last tweet for today. Marketing at Mark Underscore Keating Ninety writes in with all the Astros Talk. It unfortunately seems that people have forgotten. Just how great. The World Series was seven games amazing pitching amazing clutch hitting the net starting the season so poorly et cetera. Mark Basically said in a statement but buster. Have you forgotten about this amazing world series? Does it bum you out of the Astros candles? Basically over shadowed classic and What baseball been worse off? Had the Astros one. Oh my goodness can you imagine one like this spring and 'cause then the talk about how? The answers cheated away to one championship casual fans and maybe other players be talking about cheating their way to two championships and yeah the world series last year was phenomenal and I think Mike Rizzo the general manager of the nationals. Gave Voice to this right at the beginning of camp because as you know the nationals and the Astros share the same facility and on the first days of camp the Astros camp was overrun with reporters. Who were there to get the reactions in the responses and to hear from the Astros players and the nationals had nobody. The defending champions didn't get any extra cupboards because they were completely overshadowed by the Astros scandal. Yeah it's pretty amazing and honestly we really haven't talked a whole lot of Nazi either. I mean that's just because of what people are interested in and we will talk nats especially next week in our enemies preview. But it's it's crazy and I I know just from doing a little bit of reading and listening to people going down to the Nats Astros facility that the nats players I I. I wonder I think maybe more than anyone are tired of talking about the astros because they are literally right there and it's right in their faces. Yeah and I think they're annoyed. I I think that they feel like when we talk about what the Astros cheating cost other players. Here's one more thing right that the attention should rightly. Go to the nationals's spring. They're the defending champions. And nobody's talking about them now you reference next week. We have the National League each preview. We're going to be talking with Rowley. Athletic about the nationals. Good stuff today buster again. Thanks for listening to these previews. If you didn't listen to the preview go back on Tuesday. We have two more slated.

"Fall apart at the end of the season I'll live with that but I don't want to trade in my guy who's helped you get to the front of the pack in the NL central at the trade deadline because you're afraid you're not gonna get it I would want you to press ahead first few months of the season are gonna be pretty important for the cubs I guess right yeah like see where they are know what they're gonna do with their future they should say they should come up like with the motto that October starts in April yeah I'm that was last year I don't even know last year's one everybody only every play okay when is your Brian his people look he's not going to be a free agent so he's thirty right I know I'm going over yeah I mean if he's if he's a free agent thirty the way I might still be telling him Hey don't worry I got you I know my point is is the way for offices look at things they look at the analytics and how guys tail off at the end is he gonna gats if you don't get an eight year contract at that point may be a new mass out there as far as how much people can spend also well by the time he's a free agent yeah there could be no cooking the bargaining agreement there might be a new mathworld quite sure about you might be talking about a luxury to nineteen hundred I just it's two ninety don't stick to be a little easier to get forty million dollars no doubt so okay so he signed an eight year deal instead of a ten year gap wars could be telling me Hey you gotta wait wait till the new CBA that's what the bill Belichick's telling Tom Brady ranch on me I can't do anything I can't do anything until you find out go to St Francis we talked about this is yeah two seed sexy is that S. H. and then value framework for G. yes I will be a second rounder St Francis was not gonna take it sing around you're gonna more what's the value which the value of a first rounder I think you have to go yeah yeah right I think you'd have to give up what would they take minutes for go home just like Brady's going one and you know the the story of yes for several offseasons Tom Brady goes back to San Francisco you know goes in Tom Brady and not only that but Tom Brady gives the forty Niners a hometown discount the way he gave the patriots a hometown discount for amber so the patriots or the San Francisco forty Niners can maintain their status and maybe add a guy here to guide their they can pay George Kittle while yeah he's got a tight end Brandon you trade for Jimmy G. Jimmy geez there they surround Jimmy G. with more weapons maybe ground comes back for the sign somebody would be and then at the end of the year in June or February the patriots and the forty Niners square off once again with Tom Brady guiding the Niners and Jimmy G. guiding the patriots just like bill Belichick a design that would be some way to kick off the NFL onsite dining go to football haven't I'm blowing the closing.

"NL central and we'll see what happens I mean things have to go right injuries and all the other stuff that goes along with it to Columbus Danny to start stuff up a seven hundred W. O. W. hi good evening not I think you're right they're going to be really improve the sure but I do want to give an interesting fact about dusty Baker we were talking about earlier back in the eighties land use plan for the doctors he had a home run or he was on bass and someone behind a minute the home run and when they were rounding third days they gave each other a high five and if you Google that says who invented a high five dusty Baker gets credit for actually invented in the high five that's you I don't know what kind of monies in that but I mean if that's the case that's pretty nice in in there might have been the tooth pick thing I always thought that was cool I tried that for a little bit as a kid it didn't work out well yeah go ahead and do that I mean they they give them credit I think they may have get give some players on Kentucky basketball but you know I remember really I don't I don't think I started doing the hot what makes sense to me but he actually got the credit for that not I don't remember the other player was but it was when I think of a eighties twenty played with the doctor sure I think that makes sense so Danny how do you feel about this red steamy paying attention of the meaning they they made some moves there they're thought to to be it right there in the hunt for the NL central of title so that that's kind of nice yeah I think that really improve the major and I I I I heard that the payroll and stock a hundred a hundred and twenty million dollars I don't that four year book all the guaranteed contract that they have to do but it really makes you think that they had a quote stop back when Frank Robinson played for the red stop somebody was telling somebody another player with that's why he makes the big box Walmart and our with sixty thousand dollars a year yeah at absolutely amazing the salaries that these guys get played it off that one player easily make more than the whole game is to make even the sixty votes seventy this is astronomical he is at this point I think it's about a hundred thirty five hundred thirty six mills what it is it and while it has grown and it sounds like a lot of money but it's it's the nature of the game and obviously if they win it's not it's not a problem but in all of the winning doesn't happen that's another story Denny I appreciate the call and and certainly perspective that goes along with it five one three seven four nine seven thousand eight hundred the big one pound seven hundred eighteen anti I don't know about the the whole inventing the hi fi that one not taking credit which would you prefer well you know the the inventing the high fiver World Series ring and caring that trophy I think I take the the World Series ring every time Miller just me Spring Hill Tenn seven hundred WLW him in either I'm okay what would be excited about these rich and you feel like the the prognosticators are correct because I I we used to say that I thought they were drunk or higher had blunt head trauma when they were saying they had no hope of what not gonna believe I gotta believe and and then began to they were always will almost always right I'm real excited about what to read that next year main I can't believe they spent the money that they spent I think they have a good enough team last year to complete but that their pitching was wasn't there wall was for a while the I mean the the starting pitchers did you were were not as strong as you would hope that the relief corps was there and then they got tired out and and you know that that's the nature of the expectation is of course it in the debt that Chris wealth mention this I mean you know the the one through five of the starting rotation looks solid as could be and you could even go down six and seven is a possible situation there too so that's that right there will get you through and with some bats and generating offense that yeah I don't know about the small ball thing I mean we got so many big batch then you'll have to worry about on over into just like bring them home well I'm I'm answer no excuses this year they're saying hand pertain to deal with and I really like I mean even some of the guys that they had played last year that started for like a week and ring and and that couple Lestat it's going to be able to keep her get out of some of the guys and say that that's off the bench kind of stuff there that's it in a case in need and AS left handed or right handed when when you know there's that requirement to when you need some type of move to be made I appreciate the call J. since first on the other side I like this shepherd service bunting sucks see I I think and I don't know I don't know if I'm too old school about this or not everybody's about the excitement of the home run everybody's the excitement about you know the lot of offense and I and I like scoring runs especially that's our team doing it but the manufacturing of runs a in the danger on the base pads of do you know shaking a picture and their confidence and not sure what's going on something that Billy Hamilton was great at but the problem is you getting to first to be able to start becoming a thief taken second third is the problem it but the bond and then just you know situationally speaking doing what you have to do to move stuff around it and the amazing thing with these guys a lot of the time even with the pitching being strong is it it's almost like pro golfers in many cases where these guys can actually place the ball where they want to place at all tonight I wanna put it over there now granted they they do a lot of stuff with you know you know all the stats to say okay well we're gonna open up love field go ahead but nobody that nobody bonds they hit it over that direct that's the thing I don't understand and I mean and I'm just a simple man trying to find my way in the world about this are you are you ready for its baseball do you do you see the promise are you hopeful do you believe or you waiting because it's been so many years of misery sterling hang out with room for you to speak your mind coming up on the other side seven four nine seven thousand eight "Twelve strikeouts in five innings if he doesn't run into trouble in the fifth he could've you know he'd pitched the sixth and seventh which was a possibility going into what kind you know how how the crowd has been reacting throughout these playoffs how much in love the are with players like Ren Don Soda I I have series comes to Washington DC for game three and four eighteen in championship series sweeps are one in seven in the world series so they're in I was listening to Curtis Granderson last night on on CBS he was onto those teams Adam and he talked about that the layoff really killed their offense of momentum you know it it helps pitching to get the rest but it hurts them in terms of the momentum that they had offensively I'm so we'll see how that plays out so when thinking about New York in Houston like one best case would be that they use up burland coal for a second time in those guys aren't available early in the world series but then again that means that those teams are coming in in with some momentum into the world series how do you see it I follow that completely I think that in the nationals case kind of momentum to lose right now but it will get them the pitching advantage to have everybody fresh and Martinez and the staff can pick okay do we want to put it the nationals no matter what I would be worried if they faced the Yankees with how how they can just hit home runs off virtually any pitcher we'll see so i I think one of the debates that nats fans are going to have here over the next six days is how how should Dave Martinez set his pitching rotation I think maybe I'm in the minority on this I think the one big mistake that he got away with so far in this postseason is he got lucky starting assures are instead of Strasbourg in the wildcard game they had to get a broken-bat bloop single hit by a pitch in an error by the right fielder on the Soto hit in that wildcard aim.

"Sarah Lang's reported in a producer for MLB DOT COM in Sarah. Ask The question about going into a playoff game or playoff series. There are times when I'll have a gut field yeah. This team is definitely going to win this game. Do you have that that feeling about either. One of those wild card games. You know not really I feel like this is what's so fun. I feel like are the American really game. Tomorrow is completely up for grabs. I feel like because of how those two teams handle their pitching staff everything else. It's just so difficult to know what is going to happen there and it feels like something where you know if the game gets away from either team earn early innings that could decide it or we could see you know them battling it out and be scoreless up until the seventh or something like that and I'm really excited for this game tonight because either we're going to see. Max Sherzer be back like he was at the beginning of the year and maybe we'll finally see the nationals nationals advance which I would just absolutely love to see from the baseball standpoint or we're GONNA see this brewers team that has been even more beat up than losing Christian Yelich if that that was even possible we saw with Lorenzo Cain and Ryan Braun being out over the weekend like if they can pieces together with Brandon Woodruff Reliever last year I mean I feel like they're so so up for grabs a hundred percent royal. Let's play the numbers game number three number three is four so the nationals franchise including the Expos has lost four straight winner take all postseason games beginning with the Nineteen eighty-one and lcs damn five and a best of five that year so then they lost in two thousand twelve twenty sixteen and twenty seventeen and LDS game fives those at home and they're four straight winner take call game losses is tied for the third longest such streak in MLB history. The longest streak is an active one and that will come into plan Wednesday. It's the as at Eighth Street and the four straight winner take all game losses at home is tied for the second longest such streak all time and the as again have the only longer straight at five straight great number two number two is zero so Max Scherzer had a scoreless start in his first career postseason appearance in game two of the LDS Ds against the Yankees in twenty eleven when he was on the Tigers. He went six innings. He allowed two hits and no runs but since then he's allowed at least one running each of his his fifteen postseason outings twelve of which have been starts his a four zero three era in that span in the postseason and of course he is three ten K. postseason games in that span but the most recent of those was a thirteen k outing in game two in two thousand thirteen so you know we haven't quite seen the masters or that wins those Cy Young Awards awards strikes out twenty batters in the postseason lately some really interested to see if he shows up tonight number one number one thousand nine hundred and six so the brewers. I went one thousand nine hundred six over their final twenty five games this year tied for their best final twenty five game stretch to end any season in franchise history and the other year her when they did that was all the way back last year in two thousand eighteen. Obviously that year ended with an S. appearance game seven so it went pretty well for them but this team is pretty the hurt in a different spot but you know it's interesting you know they went four and two against nationals this year including that fourteen inning win against nationals where they won fifteen fourteen fourteen. Sean doolittle out three home runs back and forth game with Josh Hader and everybody so you know I'm really interested to see. I almost wish we got a series between these two because I think it would be really fascinating fascinating. It would be fascinating. Are you at an airport on your way out here to the west coast I am. I'm so sorry you can hear everything can't you. That's okay. We're we're used to the baggage. Claim days travel safe zero see you tonight at our meeting sounds good. Thank you so much faster long. "Coconut oil baby dallas pick for nl manager of the year this is the first the first category where we wait are you gonna fucking pick the same as j yeah literally about to say this could be the first category where all three of us have different pick no no i was going i was going kappler absolutely just you know having having a relationship with the guy i mean we're guy played against the guy no in the guy i kinda i've got a really good feel for what he's all about and i know how important it is to him to make sure that he's putting these guys in a position to get the most out of themselves because he understands what they have the potential to do and he's going to tap into that he's as good as anybody is getting the best out of some guy so i think i think kappler is the absolute as you said though the coconut in the clubhouse while the correct answer is actually craig counsel if you're the milwaukee brewers and you take that in central crown there's only one answer to this question at has to be our fearless leader craig counsel the manager of your my our milwaukee brewers i mean if you have them winning the division and beating the cubs it does follow that you would pick credit counselor she says the manager that makes a lot of sense at least you're consistent there's a train of thought here.
