They bookend the start with another goal at the end of the first period, but the Devils would take the lead with three unanswered goals than the predators found another opportunity to strike in the final seconds of regulation when McCall Greenland poked in a rebound force over time. Packed Black Friday sports schedule

"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam. On Black Friday, the NBA and NHL were as busy as the shopping malls. 14 NBA games and 13 on the ice were played the day after both leagues were off for Thanksgiving. The Celtics added to their league leading record by beating searching Sacramento as Jason Tatum scored 30 with help from the Boston bench. I think when we might have been down for the end of the half of ten, he knows because of those guys came in and just changed the momentum. The bucks kept pace by beating the Cavaliers thanks largely to a 35, ten third quarter in which Bobby port has played a key role. Felt good for us overall as a basketball team, because it felt like we was playing books, basketball, for a chance. Victories also for the Lakers heat suns, warriors, nuggets, grizzly sixers pacers, rockets, thunder hornets, and the trailblazers in overtime over the Knicks. NHL, the bruins became the first team to win its first 12 home games in the season, as they beat the hurricanes three to two in overtime on David pasternak's gold. Big win for us, obviously, and coming from behind, you know, after Thanksgiving, the game is never easy, so it's good with. The devil's after having their 13 game win streak snap bounced back with a three one win in Buffalo. Other winners, the capitals penguins islanders red wings, Maple Leafs Canadians kraken jets, senators kings and lightning, with Braden points scoring too early goals. I think both teams were into it right away. It was nice to get a couple goals for us early. Pretty good jump on the game. I thought it was a fun game. World Cup soccer, the United States finished in a scoreless tie with England as coach Greg berhalter's young team had the better scoring chances. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group, because that never wavered. The U.S. now must be to ran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout round. "All right, let's close the show here. Let's do a little little fantasy tips section. We're going to give the listeners who are playing in fantasy leagues, either players that can buy low on or sneaky pickups who have been producing with increased opportunity. I'll give you the floor. Who's the first player you kind of want to identify here as someone that people should be going out and investing in? I'm going to say Marty Nietzsche and he's someone who's ownership keeps rising and we talked about him a few weeks ago how he finally is playing to his strengths and it looks like he has he's carving out that role for himself and he's been so good with fetching the cops so it's nice to see like you can't always get a wheat players in fantasy hockey if you don't dress them or make some big trades. So you have to figure out who is playing with them who is clicking with them. So you could go to the coffee and you're out but you know nature is available and I think like 60% of leagues or 55% of leagues that he's the player to jump on and when you look at the schedule, the fact that the hurricanes play for games this week, well, not against three. But the more games this week and including on lighter nights, that's going to be really helpful. The NHL scheduling is less than ideal so you have to look at nights like Wednesdays Fridays and Sundays to figure out who's playing those games because on Tuesday and Thursday you can add a player, but your lineup is probably already full and if someone you're adding, you probably don't want to knock out anyone you already have. It's probably not if you're adding someone they're probably not going to be much better than who you already have. That's like the depth that you're adding to. So Nietzsche is a really good player for that because he'll be genuinely useful to you as a player who is playing on the lighter nights is playing often and you've producing a ton. Yeah, and I think rod Bryn damore is definitely taking stock of how well that line has been playing because they are their three most heavily used forwards if I one 5 Martyn H is actually leads the team in all situations. Ice time for forwards, which is quite a development after he was underutilized and bumped down the lineup for large stretches of last year.

"So maybe we had some concerns like, is he aging? Is this what it is? You know, he's obviously getting into his 30s now, even though he has less NHL experience at this point that less wear and tear from it on his game. But I like this story he's getting off to because it's showing like maybe last year was just kind of a sneaky year a step back. And when he started trending up at the deadline, that showed where he's going from here because he's having a great start and adding a lot of pop to the rangers at even strength that they were missing. Yeah, I mean, he's got what, 5 goals 11 cyst in his first ten games in the I track the four games right off the bat for them. He had set up teammates for 30 shots and 13 scoring chances of their own through his passing. So everything was really flowing through him. It's interesting that you mentioned the 5 one 5 because that has been such a big question mark for the rangers. I actually wanted to talk about the power play because I think statistical profile there is so fascinating right now where they're not only first and expected goals at a 12.4 60, which is the best figure this year and the best figure that we have going back to 2007. Their first in shots generated, and chances generated. And there are only quote unquote scoring at a 12th highest rate because they're shooting percentages kind of in the tank. And that's after a year where last year they were amongst the league leaders in that regard. And you just look at kind of where they're generating shots from how they're clicking at this point. And I can't help but feel like there's so many more goals coming as well if they keep playing that way with the man advantage. Yeah, I think you're right on that.

People are speaking about philip group. Our even visit them. Yes you did you did you did you did. But in the general consciousness like a lot of people try to like hate on on grew which. I don't understand why because i think he's excellent and he's taken his game to such a higher level and i know from last year just doing so games on the nhl network showcase games on saturdays. He was locking horns with marc andre. Fleury he would lock horns with whoever else it is that he played against down at the other end and he was just money like he's awesome. He's worked really hard to get where he is. So he's a guy that i feel that people sleep on in a weird way somebody that you know elsie. Because you're out there in kelly. Now my man john gibson. "Here. With of course the great emily camplin and It's funny we're coming to you from a different hotel rooms. I and vegas and emily. You are in tampa and we have a special guest left right. You never left your just there and we have a special guest. Who's also from vegas hotel room of course but kevin weeks and i will be covering the same game which is the second half of our espn doubleheader tuesday night. The vegas golden. I'ts their home opener against the first ever. Nhl game for real the seattle cracking. Welcome kevin you so much ladies huge fans of yours and we have a lot of a lot of mutual support going back and forth. But i will say this. I've listened to every single episode so far every one of them and you can quiz nandana proven. They've been great so happy to be happy to be joining you bolt. Thanks for having me on in advance. And i love what you're doing it. They've been awesome so far. Honestly can you're the best. When i love all our new teammates but i just have a special affinity for you. Because you're someone that i can just call up and with a deal tell the truth. And that's why when we found out that we were going to have some espn personalities on this podcast. You're like thank heavens. Gotta be i and he is a thank. You thank you both know. Thank you and that's the only thing i'll see to on your at your goal. Union still goal union. Still so weak. See now that you're part of the worldwide leader. Was it what you expected it to be yet has been it has been you know I have really high expectations for things in the high level of standard. Two things have been raised that way. My parents have always been that way. They've been out of my sister and i. I love attention to detail. You know this being a former goalie and a longtime grade and em you know this is being an outstanding journalist and doing multimedia both of you there has to be an attention to detail and found that we've had that here so we've had that attention to detail here so far it's been infectious and also to as a new person here. I just love the fact that there's this much passion behind the investment because the initial investment and the rights acquisition is one thing but it's the passion and the attention to detail expected. Excellence every day that bring that to life and really take it to the next level. I've seen that. And i've loved that so forth and people are so sick of hearing this but the one thing people don't realize about espn is there's so many puck heads there over the last seventeen years be weren't airing game but it was still talked about in the building and there are still people that were so passionate kuching for the convention the twentieth old. Yiddish word. i can't do it but waiting for that opportunity here. They are so. I'm curious they'll against someone who came in from the outside and you come and work for. Espn what's something that you've either been super geeked out about when he saw or really surprised by oh. I didn't realize that this is the way it is here. about two things number. One thought about our talents seminars. Chicago and the fact that there was that level of of leadership in and setting forth. What the expectation of the blueprint looks like and standard of excellence steady greatness. That really grabbed me. And i'll tell you why. And i'm wired that way. I like to be that way and every but being a former goalie. it's all about precision. You know you play that position. It's all about precision everything literally one eight inches shoulders here or rotated the other way. That's a different to saving a goal. It or a micro fraction of a second makes the world difference as as linda's you know all too well still a hockey add new. I aspire to play in the nhl. But i love hoops. I love these other sports. So i was listening to a lot of great voices from local news to ron maclean and hockey night in canada to the late great john saunders. I can go all around l. c. yourself There's so many different people and that was the standard. So i never really came in broadcasting like somebody that just want the coast as a second career. I approach it with the same respect for so many women and men that are great at the craft and approach that with that. Same respect that i have for plant so i would say that that initial The initial meeting that we had in in chicago and then i'd also say the studio the other day going into the studio sick. Our studio looks amazing. I can't credit the fabricators and everybody behind the scenes. You're kinda doubt over reunited with twitter. I know that you're just trying to butter him up on said stop and he was. Larry david i couldn't have voted him up anymore. I mean oh my goodness teeth. All that fresh butter that that was pouring on for him but Knowing that i played for torches youngster. I played when i was young in tampa problem with my second or third year in the league and played for a little bit. Actually a lot of people would know for rochester. In the spangler couple over in switzerland a used there so i played for from over there to steve. Shield is loan to the buffalo sabres at the time. So there's a kind enough to let let me there to rochester to help my development at that time so Yeah it's cool. I really like the fact that we have different people. Different perspectives different genders across different parts of the color wheel different religions and not only on the camera but also have two cameras. Well i think that's cool because it's gonna lend itself to a multidimensional kind of perspective in terms of how we cover the game at all the different platforms that we cover it. We'll get back to the podcast just a minute but first does this sound familiar..

"It was it was fun. I think they're gonna have a huge financial impact on the league this year. You think like i do that. It's vegas and seven other teams in the west and will kind of see where this all works in the pacific division. So i shut it to make predictions but i think they're gonna have a huge financial impact on the league. Yeah my only question about seattle is. Who's gonna score the goals like defense sher- the goaltending sure who's scorned goals on this. Low morgan geeky obvious. Apparently it's going to be the mortgage geeky show and listen You know everybody's feeding pass their players you looking here and say okay if mccain has a career year if you know donskoy who've seen go super cold but also go super hot can have year if alexander van berg can finally figure it out in turn it around you know jaden schwartz can pop it set for this team. It's almost like vegas right. And a lot of ways for this team to be successful in year one is a lot of forwards at half the have career years. You're right like how many teams are going to score in that division. I think the same score score. Vancouver's listened to vancouver has got three scoring lines. Now while the gotta get those two guys in right once those two guys two guys. I think that vancouver's gonna scoring vancouver's and improved team. I think los angeles has the potential to score we know edmonton is gonna fill the net anaheim. I think was the second lowest scoring team in the nhl ass season. Calgary didn't bring in anyone that's going to pop the offense at all. We know gonna be a lot of to win games. Yup at the saddledome can't see the san jose sharks so there's a couple they do like three. Maybe four teams that. I can see scoring in that device. It the same way. Vegas gonna score edmondson's score. I'm with you once everybody's signing in place i think vancouver's gonna score anaheim's not calgary's not so my question is what are la and san. Jose going to be i think. La can score. I think la can score goals. I think they can. But we'll see so i see this as a division where as darryl sutter says. It's a three two league. You're going to have a lot of three. Two games and seattle could win those. I think whoever wins those. Whoever in that division wins three two games is going to be in the playoffs. Already though you mentioned the financial impact of the seattle cracking you can't keep you. Can't you can't keep the merchandise in the shops out of a pandemic that is not insignificant. I've heard that they believe they're going to be pretty close to pre pandemic levels. I'm not sure the full season which was five point zero nine billion. But i think they're optimistic and i think seattle's very big part of that too breeding could check. I haven't heard as much on the weekend. I think ottawa here has kind of gotten i heard this short term deals like they weren't even close the two sides they did discuss short term. And i just heard it didn't go very well. I'm always wary of saying this stuff because one phone call could change anything. I can do this. But i heard that the long term like i said. I don't think they were that far and overall dollars but were they were disagreeing was on bonus structure potentially trade protection. And you know. Ottawa knows that they're going to have a big deal for students. Lay here at some point. I think they want to hold it down. Eugene melnyk remember a couple years ago. He made that crack about the lease and how they blew their salary cap. I think he's sitting there saying there's a limit to what we can do. But we'll see i was going to say how much of this If you're brady trucks cam if you're gonna commit long-term to the ottawa senators you wanna know what they are spending their money on and how much they're going to spend. I do believe that has come up in conversation is chalk. Wants to know what the long term i like. I think one of the reasons that dj smith got an extension first of all dj. Smith's a really good coach. I think we all feel that way. He's a really good coach for that team. But i think brady chuck made very clearly. Legs likes dj smith and auto like okay. We're not fooling around with this. We agree in. Let's get it done. But i do think that's come up is what's auto we're going to do and ottawa's saying look where we have. Some other stations are going to have to do here. And i do believe this is all part of the conversation. Okay so you mentioned. Travis hammond a couple of seconds ago. And maybe there's some thought that perhaps he may decide to opt out of this season. The new jersey devils have an unknown unvaccinated player as well Described as someone substantial to the lineup. I wanna say this vote. Corey mass athletic. He wrote that story as carefully as anyone could ever write it true. If i ever had to write that story. I would want to write it that way. And i can't speak to your corey's reasons for naming or not naming the player. I don't like to speak for other people aside for myself. But i just wanted to say that the tack he took it. I thought it was extremely well done. So what happens here. Is this another potential opco. Is this no. I don't i don't think so. You know one of the things that i have heard is that there wasn't appointment scheduled at at one point but the player you know just know decided. He wasn't ready or comfortable at that point in time. You know. i don't know where it's going to go like i had some people tell me that in edmonton ken holland did an unbelievable job. He had three players pretty.

"But like lebron james. But that doesn't that's not normal so like it's just much. There's much more tangled wires in what you would have to do in hockey to get a similar league like that for prospects than in the nba Obviously injuries is the biggest thing with all this right that junior dato would like it in jail teams with mike right exactly so if something. If something like that word to work there would have to be some I don't know that there have to be some mitigations and the closest thing ever happened to. This was the world cup of hockey a couple of years ago and it was awesome and it was great. It was a lot of fun and it was right before the nhl season. But what's happening. yeah it was. It was great and it was on all the big stations it was on. Nbc was on nbc was on versus. That was on All the stuff but there are a lot of players they got hurt and they were out for portions of the season. Further pro clubs in the hated that. Yeah so everybody so at mean the if the owners say something. It's not going to happen again. So and that's really unfortunate. Because that was kind of their. It was the reason why they didn't go to the the olympics. Turn like okay. We're not going to go the olympics. But we're going to do this world cup of hockey thing and I mean it was great. It was fun but there are just too many injuries. And i guess the only mitigation you could do if you did like three on three league. Or whatever i guess just take hitting out of it. Boy sounds fun right now. Talk about the. oh l. And that's something that. I'll be competitive hockey. Won't it right and i mean it might be fun to watch like some some really cool like dangles and stuff like that and some really school skill moves. You'll like watching it if you like watching the nhl all star game. Which i for one do not partake in partaken. I don't mind it i hate. They're trying they're trying. I wish they would do other stuff for the all star game. Maybe we can start. I'll watch the skills competition all day. What's your what's what's your Ulcer also what's your favorite skills.

"I just feel like unit would be it would be with like an. It'd be completely voluntary right. So maybe the that maybe the nato team throws them like a smaller stipend may be. Hey come play for a week and we'll give you ten grand or something like that. I get while for a three on three tournament though not be worth the prospects while because they're risking their potential revenue stream in the future. Which is their body that they used to play hockey with so i three three tournament wouldn't work the only way you could get prospect. Actually come is to market it as a developmental league and use it to show more casual fans prospects before they get to the nhl and try and get your more casual fans more interested in prospect development. And things like that. But i don't think it would be a big stage. I mean imagine a like a big stage for players like thomas harley for play dog jason robertson liquids pageantry of big stage though. You're not gonna get it on. Nbc end the biggest stage. It's going to get on his a tv. I don't think so. I don't ass out. I ever seen in the ideally game on nbc on nbc. If the nhl can get on espn with their regular games with the regular stars because there will be regular stars that would come in and play. Now i'm not saying that it would be you know. One hundred percent of the league stars would come and play in this Three on three summer league or whatever but it would be. I think you would have some and you could show showcase those players. You could showcase the talent. I mean you can give people like assistant coaches opportunities to teach and lead in game where there's no pressure stuff like that. Right anders incentive for hockey player to go. And do that right. But if there is nothing i mean what what do would you use. I don't know that. But that's what i'm saying. Is that if something like this would work. There have to be incentive for the players and for the tv contracts and whoever else involved in okay. I agree with that if it could work. Though it'd be really cool. And i would love it but the we're gonna speak logistically not really much of a chance of inhabiting the the other argument that i would make for doing some really like this. Is it it. it wouldn't be a lot of money but again what's the biggest thing we keep hearing about from these images owners. We lost three point. Eight billion dollars over this past year and a half. This would be a way for them to recoup some of those assets if they did a summer league but i do want to mention what you kind of already talked about is why does the nhl not do a summer league in the nba does in. Obviously the biggest thing is that hockey comes with a lot. More risks right. Would you agree with that. Yeah that and the more complicated nature of how a prospect becomes any player in hockey so from basketball. You basically go high school college in be if you're good enough. Obviously that's best case scenario. But if you're a hockey player your path is a lot different. I mean you're going when you're a teenager like just barely a teenager. You're starting to go to junior clubs and from there you go into an actual junior league and from there you go to a minor league maybe and from there. Hopefully you guarantee you're getting drafted and from there. Hopefully you're the is a lot more steps and there's a lot more different ways for to happen to like in the nba like there's rare rare times when a player goes from high school to the nba..

"With the correal. Caprice off They're still working out that contract. But i think there's an expectation that eventually they will figure that out like. I said the wilder surprisingly tied for third in terms of odds to win the western conference this year. Which seems a little high to me. But who knows a montreal canadian's they defeated of night scores in the nhl semi final last year and then lawsuit the tampa bay lightning in the stanley cup. Final weird crazy off season for them. They lost no as we just mentioned. The kings lost captain shea weber too injury for likely the year in Possibly for good depending on what you read or listen to they also had a big freak out moment for a little bit there in the off season because they expose goaltender carey price in the expansion draft in. There is debate whether seattle was gonna take him a. They did go on a great run last year obviously They also were a team. That kind of back their way into the playoffs in didn't exactly have a very impressive regular-season and now they're back in division with teams like boston. Tampa florida toronto and more. So is this a team. That's gonna have staying power as a playoff contender. Dave or was the run last year. Maybe as good as it's going to get at least the near term for montreal kinda feels a little bit like the ladder I don't know maybe that's discrediting what they did lash. That's unfair then. Maybe like a whole season dominated running that you know goofy one one three and sitting back and just turn a trap. Everybody will be effective in the regular season. And they get you know crazy. You're goaltending wise from carey price. But i think what was interesting the playoff you know sort of people talking about carrie. Price not being a goaltender in the regular season alaskan for years and all of a sudden picking it up you know that particular postseason. So i still think there's questions i think about last year. You know they were a team that that certainly seemed to be on people's radar as potentially improved all. I don't think it was totally out of the question or anything that they were. You know a team that could make a run lashing postseason bite. It does feel like you know. They didn't quite do enough. They lost them. That unless as yuki Kotkin kenya you know. Maybe somebody else takes a massive step forward that that they're a team teams in danger of taking a step backward. The definitely obviously like what suzuki brings that team may maybe nights fans don't wanna hear but cockamamie to me is the question mark. He's a guy that's got to take a big step forward. We're gonna talk about the nashville predators next This the team may not rebuilding. But it definitely feels like you know the word. Resetting applies trade. One of their best defensemen and right. Alice sin away arvidsson to los angeles so he can be taken in the expansion draft Did get some young players back including former night. Cody glass They didn't make the playoffs last year. Dave but based on kind of what's been happening with them this summer had they been passed by some other teams in that regard. Yeah i'll click on this year. I think they're a team especially in that central division while these other teams that we've talked about you know even with uc sorrow schism. Good goaltending but it just feels like they're big guys. The people that they put money into your hands and duchenne knock from through in it and not just going be ultimately their downfall now definitely agree a new jersey devil sign kind of the number one free agent of the off-season in the defenseman dougie hamilton also reunited..

"Journal talks about season hockey. We are kind of in the middle of the. I guess you know weird off time of the nhl calendar. The free agency has petered out a rookie. Camp and training. Camp are still like a month so or figuring out stuff talk about but we do have actually a lot to talk about today. That i'm kind of excited about. I am of course ben goats. Your review journal beat writers. Joining me on the other line is my colleague. Dave shame back from vacation. Dave how you feeling we'll refresh I could probably just another another week vacation to be quite honest. But you know it's raining we're still Still enjoy the summer like you said we got some time. So you know yeah. The key is just for you to be ready next week. Because that's when i'm on vacation. So i at least need you to be locked in by then but you still got some time you can. You can ease back into things. Yeah there's nothing going on. We'll be fine. Crews say that everything happens so there are some things going on that we're going to talk about. Just give you guys a little baby. The bulk of this episode is going to be spent a gone as we do every year Around the nhl in like thirty ish minutes. We always go over and we're definitely going to go over this year because we have some topics that i wanna hit on a before we get to that main part of our episode. One of being dave is gonna have his top ten nights prospectless come out the any day now and so. I wanna give a quick preview of that but before we get to everything. I want to remind everyone to that. Big old niche podcast is brought to you by the las vegas review journal. Make sure to check out all our written work at regional dot com. Because even as i thought goat. It's not exactly the fast time of the off season. We still actually put out a lot of content recently also presented by louis wire and of course if you guys could Resubscribe whatever you podcasts. Due to this one that would be very much appreciated so before we get to the prospects in canada Around the nhl. You think one thing we have to touch on is the fact that yesterday were recording this on tuesday august seventeenth so monday august sixteenth governor. Steve celek announced that large venues can get out of the state's current indoor mass mandate if they require proof of vaccination to get in in other words if everyone that attends your kind of large event which i believe is defined as like more than four thousand people. is vaccinated. No-one has to wear masks for the most part now. A partially vaccinated people. You know if you've only got one shot..

"Know they as he has a lot of other people. Say he's gonna to be. So i i don't know if he's right. He's a genius. Well the other reason why. I think the carolinas wrong isn't this. Who's on the other side. Detroit who is detroit's gm steverman geyser. Man is responsible for the for the you know the the building of the tampa bay lightning. I think he found his on vast lapsky. If you ask me. I'm not now. I'm not saying the delicate which is going to be as good as vasilevskiy. That will not happen. But he's definitely found a goaltender that he likes. I just don't. I don't understand that trade whatsoever if you're the carolina hurricanes because not only. Did you take jonathan bernier. Who you know. He had a good year for a really sucky team. But you only got a third round pick out of it. And that was it. So i i i don't i don't get it. I really don't i. i hope. Belkevich becomes a beast in detroit so We'll see how that goes. I'm just glad that we don't have to play him at all. But i'll mention this next this one because this one has been happening for a long time vancouver has always wanted this guy. Vancouver connects acquire defensemen. Oliver geman larson or as he's known across the media landscape a wheel in forward karner garland one of my favorite non dallas stars players from the arizona coyotes in exchange for forwards lou ericsson. Jay beagle antoine roussel a first round pick number nine overall the two thousand twenty one. Nhl draft second round. Pick in the twenty twenty two. Nhl draft in seventh round. Pick in the two thousand twenty. Three and eight draft so arizona weaponized their cap space. Got rid of. Oh we yell in. They had to they had to lose. Connor garland but they did get a first round. Pick a second round pick in the seventh round pick and and they got three players who are going to be off the cabinet exactly. That's the next point as well and in front of the vancouver side you get especially for jim benning. He loves oliver edmund larson eastern espn. He's trying he's been trying to get him for multiple years now. And you've got karner garland and as soon as current connor garland got a couple of days later. They signed him to a a decent deal for garland and he's going to be playing top. Six minutes with even couvert conducts. So but that's a lot to give up if draft pick wise you lose the first round pick the number nine overall a second round pick and seven and a seventh round pick so.

"Needed to bulk up a little bit before he gets to the nhl level. But what str- struck me about this. This kid particularly was that he plays a full two hundred foot game so there are some comparisons to like mark stone kind of maybe not at the same level as mark stone because obviously mark stone went higher in the draft. But this is a guy that could play a good two hundred foot game and that's something that the stars don't really have right now. I like it. I i definitely think getting someone who is obviously being at six one and only one seventy eight. He's obviously pretty lanky like if he feels out. There's no there's no telling where he could really do. So i really liked the pick. It's a high high ceiling but there's also a low floor. I think so. We'll see how this goes in and and you know these these late first round picks are not like the top three or top five where they could possibly jump into the nhl immediately. So this guy i mean. He's he's probably going to take a while before he gets into the nhl. I would maybe say four years max. Maybe three years. Maybe we see him in like three years. I harleys fixing to push the door down. We drafted him only a couple of years ago. So we'll see how that goes with wii johnson Just some other things about him is that he's got he some. Some things i've read is that he possesses a high hockey iq. He reached the play exceptionally well on both sides of the puck. So this is a guy that you know. The stars are missing. We don't have somebody like this. Within our organization we have guys that are really gifted offensively and guys that are really gifted defensively. Not really like a mix of both. We don't have a mark stone type player in those guys are very very valuable and i think we possibly picked one up and white johnson next guy who that i got some info about him. Is logan stink oven. The i mean. I i can imagine if he ever makes the nhl. Which i hope he does he. He's around the same time around the same area where rope. A hints was drafted. I hope he makes it because that is just as i. I can imagine t shirts being sold with that last name like that. That's absolutely awesome. Dan goven a love. it anyways This is a guy that if we had salmon he would probably enjoy talking about. This kid is five eight. He's the only guy that is under five nine in the stars draft class twenty twenty one and he's only one hundred and seventy pounds so i mean that just goes to show you how linke wyatt johnson is himself. 'cause i mean he's like what six inch not six inches probably about four or five inches shorter than why at johnston. And he's only about eight pounds lighter so Y lebron's is going to have to bulk up but anyways about logan. He's a high offensive player. That generates chances on most shifts possesses a very good shot with an excellent release very good play making ability and vision. Timely offense of hockey since to generate chances. A good motor and competes hard.

"If i'm the league i'm gonna be pissed off and you gotta find the mole. That's that's in the registry in the nhl registry so That's that i also wanted to talk. Real quick about couple players stood out to me in the first round. The entry draft Taibu getting selected tenth of raw by the senators Super wile pick I really didn't expect. I didn't even have him. I don't think my first round So that was crazy for me also. Yes for wall said Sank in the standing are in the standings in her The pick selection right. I mean he went twentieth. I believe he went twentieth to the wild I had him ranked. I think like six. So yes that's crazy. Also acklin slipped a little bit which. I didn't really think that he would thought he would be top five. Pick And so here's the big one them What's his name. I don't even know his name. Because a how like you know. Logan Get selected thirty. I will rely montreal. Canadian's and i think the whole world the whole hockey robot shocked. You know i mean here you have this kid who rescinded himself from the draft. Didn't want to be a part of the draft and gets taken in the first round and it's not like he just said oh i don't want to be in the draft because i don't wanna play in that at all. He took himself out of the draft because he was convicted in charge for taking nonconsensual photos of a woman and then distributing them in sweden. And it's like so it's like for a reason that he took himself out of the draft. Teams had him on there. Do not draft boards. And you know this may get kind of political so pair with me. But like i say many you know when we hear this in instagram comments like on a lot of stuff people say oh. Yeah you know like cancel kosher added again. It's like honestly man fuck all that cancel. Culture doesn't exist in hockey. I don't care what anybody says. No here we have this young guy who he fucked up yet. Okay you know you could say he's dumb kid and he made a mistake but he made a mistake. That's gonna follow this woman for her whole life especially this in her town that her pictures of her in these vulnerable positions were distributed and taking without permission. And it's like. I don't know how much like i don't know what else i don't know how you can justify and say that cancel culture is a thing in hockey because he still got taken the first round and something that really frustrated me and i forgot where i heard this mentioned but it was that he. He was talking about in his post media. Availability he was saying that he wants to use this as a learning experience for young men in a junior hockey. What are they learning that they can that they can do discussing things to women and then still get an nhl in the first round the still be a first round draft pick and how that pedigree to their name. I mean my god like just how tone-deaf speaking of tone-deaf then just like birgit bergman's comments and just like at. and so. i think it's really notable in trevor timmins. The canadians had scout. He was asked why he fought montreal. believe that logan you deserve to be drafted. When he said that he didn't there was a twenty one. Second pause are twenty..

"There's a narrative that Canadian teams can't win or don't normally win a title and I hear that I think that's dumb to me. I look at, you know, Sam howls, at quarterback in North Carolina right now and he is getting compared to Mitchell trubisky who failed horribly and like they came from the someplace same place but it's a different situation. Like you can't compare location, doesn't Define off how you do and how well you can succeed. And I I think it's, that's kind of interesting. What do you make of that narrative and you can throw people throw stats, like a team has one sense. This date years and years ago, but I'm like, I made a good team is a good team, no matter where they're based out of, right? Yeah. And that's I mean it's I'll admit this is a thing that that American hockey fans do to rile up Canadian fans because Kennedy know hockey is Canada's game. This is all being a lot of it is kind of tongue-in-cheek, it's in jest, but I enjoyed the like, haha, we're better at using gross sport but yeah, but the fact is is that everybody, you know, we we we prodded them but everybody knows that the end of the day sixty percent of the League's madian players whether they're in America on American teams or not. There's only you know there's a one third of the league as Canadian in terms of teams so there's fewer teams that can win it off. So Canadian team hasn't won it in you know in quite some time I don't think that's necessary, don't think that's, that's a geographical thing. There's no geographical reason for that. It's just the way that things shake out. When you know, over town teams are are of the 31 are in America and there's only a few in Canada and that's, you know, that's the way it goes, but a lot of Canadians Hoist, the Cup every year, whether they play for the American team or not. You pointed something out. The other last time we talked you said like this is a weird round in the NHL playoffs, because something happened with covid-19. Yeah. So because so so moving forward now, because the Canucks have this but with.
