"I mean, we don't even need to get into the assistant coach stuff. His last name just gave me a good lord. Wow. That guy got another job. Unbelievable. Yeah. Yeah. And it's crazy. I mean, the only other person I know, I mean, Gary used to kick people at the office all the time. And Gary is still on this podcast. They think they shut down our office because it just saw the lawsuits. Gary's like a literal scofflaw. I just remember him coming off coming into the office one day being like I had to call, was it Mark Reich editor emeritus from jail? I believe. That happened. To be clear, it was a clerical error, but yes, I spent an afternoon in a jail cell in the, in The Bronx. Yeah. Amazing. Wait, so not to. That is a podcast in itself. I was once held at gunpoint by the Coral Springs police. Were you really? It was actually in retrospect. I'm laughing about it, but very terrifying. Yeah. Sure. That's also, I mean, there's no way to work that story into this podcast without completely derailing this. All right, let me nail the transition then. So my Jade and ivy take is that. My J divvy take is that he was, he was demolished by the mustache guy from St. Peters in the NCAA tournament. And so what are we talking about this guy is like the number one he scored like 8 points against Saint Peter's. Why are we drafting him? Like why is everyone going freaking out about this guy? Is he really good? I think that it was more people expected him to go in the top four and he slipped to 5 and there's always a guy that's like, you know, when he goes a little lower than people expect people start to freak out about him. I don't know how you do it. Connor because I've just gotten and I'm sorry because I do this on our NBA podcast suit and it creates my co host. The degree to which I don't care about drafts is so high. Honestly, I think people who care about the NFL Draft. It's like, that's like the most embarrassing thing you could do in the world to me. Like, I'm sorry. Like, people who are like, oh, I'm like, my jets picked up this safety out of blank in the 6th round. And I'm like, you literally have no idea what's going to happen. No. Okay. These teams are paying millions of dollars a year to figure this out and they still haven't figured it out. This guy that you're freaking out over right now might get cut during training camp. That's how little you know. Select the people who care about the NFL Draft, I'm just like, we'll never agree on anything we're never going to be Friends. And frankly, I'm coming close to that with the NBA draft to an extent. So not to throw water over this entire thing, but that's where I met personally. Man. Yes, I just don't understand why you would take Jade and ivy this year. I guess when you could just make sure you have the number one pick. Next year, it just come on. Right now. Lock it in. The guy who shut Jaden ivy down and then you just have, you have the best of all worlds. That was 90 girl a mustache. I think that that'll be just the same. Mike groans know where me imitating what happened the first time we tried to have that conversation just a little inside baseball. Offended. I do think more NBA teams should draft the guy who shut down the other guy in the tournament though. Yeah. I'm for that strategy generally. Yes. Make me the GM of the members of the one year that the kings basically asked a bunch of really smart draft Twitter people to be their GM. They were like, tell us who we should put. Did the browns ask an unhoused person to if they should drive documents? That was the Johnny manziel year, right? Yeah. They did do that. They did. So we can have you on plenty of time. I still have more I have tons of free agency questions because I've now logged into the NBA. I think this is going to become a thing for me. I don't understand the guy that the Knicks want doesn't seem to be very good to me either and his dad is the assistant coach in this office. And the next general manager used to be his agent. Yes, very above board for sure. Okay. So that's weird to everybody in the NBA too. It's not weird. I mean, people are used to this kind of stuff. It's more like here we go again. So it's fun for me, so I knew nothing about the entire Ben Simmons thing. Right before and right before you took us on the taco tour of LA, which was awesome, by the way, legendary. Great. Mitch goldach and I our editor had like an hour walk from the downtown convention center to our hotel and he's a big 76ers fan and I said, explain to me, I was like, catch me up on everything. So no idea what's going on. Are you what you heard from Mitch was propaganda? Is the problem? Well, this was very, this was a very good day. That's like being like Kim Jong-un, like tell me about everyday life in North Korea. Oh, it's jokes while we still can. But yeah, I mean, he was just like, you know, by the end of the walk to the hotel, I was like, wait, so he just doesn't shoot. And doesn't ever want to. And Mitch is like, yes, exactly. I was like, wow. And so exactly. But my neighbor is a big Knicks fan and he was like, yeah, so we just decided to go after a player whose dad is the assistant coach. And I don't think he's very good. And I was like, wow, like I like being this kind of NBA fan where it's almost like I get my political news from the guy at the corner store. It's just like, all these things are happening, you know? And so I like keeping the league at an arm's distance, but I like plugging in just enough to care, which is where I'm at. It's a fun place to be. You're outside the snow globe. I'm outside the snow globe. Yeah. And I love it. You wanted to see me miss swinton? Have you been hearing about the new government modernization efforts? "You got yourself a deal. Tom Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick. All right, Connor, talk about Chet holmgren. Get it off your chest. What is going to stop? What is the deal with this, like the thunder now have multiple spaghetti men, why did they do this? And what is to stop somebody from just bringing in like a, so this is my, this is kind of where my MBA knowledge kind of cuts off, but what is to stop a Bryant big country Reeves or like an eddy curry from coming in and just destroying this thicket of spaghetti men. It's actually a good question and I'll tell you exactly what stopping NBA teams from doing that. It's a league that's just switching from big and bulky to lean and athletic and can do multiple things and defend multiple positions. Unless you have Joel embiid or Nikola Jokić. Or maybe Carl Anthony towns soon extent. It's not efficient for NBA teams to throw the ball in the post. And ask someone to score a bucket. It's the same reason why we don't see big bulky running backs anymore. What happened to the Ron Danes of the world? Why don't we see teams? Hand off to the full back. We don't see the mic I'll starts of the world anymore. For the most part, unless you're a very highly valued specialist and particularly great at that position, most NFL teams have done away with big running backs or big full backs or big, because it's not efficient. It's not the best way to get yards. In the NBA, it's not the best way to get points. Again, unless you're Joel embiid and you're so talented that you're unguardable, the most points you can get on a post up is two points. And you'd have to shoot such a high percentage to make that more valuable. Then playing a layups and threes offense because when you post up, it kind of ruins your movement, it slows everything down, it's easier to defend, et cetera. So that's why teams are able to get away with playing skinnier, smaller, more athletic players because the games just kind of, it's not efficient to be a bruiser anymore. So it's interesting to me right that so the NFL had undergone the passing revolution, right? And so the ravens are sitting there and being like, we're just not going to do that. So you guys all go over here. We're going to take all the full backs. We're going to take all the tight ends. We're going to take the running quarterback, run first quarterback, that nobody wants, and we're going to build something out of the outliers and then end up kind of making something dominant. Is the NBA pretty homogeneous in their view that the big man thing is over or are there teams that are like, wait, no one wants, I don't know. No one wants Bryant Reeves anymore. Give me 5 Craig ghost or tags. Is there somebody no, it's pretty homogenous and to be honest in some ways it's more important to think of an NBA team in terms of can my big man guard Steph Curry as opposed to can my big man guard another big man because for the most part you need to have a team that's prepared to switch onto smaller players defensively survive when teams are targeting you, et cetera. The games turned much more into particularly in the playoffs, which this is a story that I touched on a little bit this year and probably will right next here is in the NBA, the playoffs and the regular season are completely different sports, especially. The number of players you play are much less, you know, the strategy, intensity, everything changes in a way that's just nowhere near as dramatic than in the NFL. And so, you know, there's no team really trying to swerve like that. Again, there's some teams who have the personnel that again, like the sixers can give the ball to Joel embiid on the post. And that makes them a matchup issue, but you're not going to just go out and find someone like that. So there's no team that's really trying to swerve. There are some teams that have talented big men, and that makes them difficult to play against because we saw this Celtics had someone like Al Horford who has the skills of a smaller player and a bigger body. That makes them very difficult to match up against, but generally no, it is getting pretty homogeneous. The NFL is so different because Lamar Jackson is such a star and such a unique player that it makes sense to build your entire team's identity around him. You know, he touches the ball and literally every single play, right? The NBA teams build around their stars, but you can't really do to the same extent that you do it in the NFL. Stylistically at least. So how specifically is spaghetti man team gonna work? 'cause I think it maybe it's just the optics of it, but I, you know, I had been hearing about Chet holmgren for like three years. And then I turned on Gonzaga's second NCAA tournament game, and I was like, that's the guy? That's it? Like it doesn't blow my mind. I'm not a draft expert. I don't personally also don't fully understand the chat home rent thing, but the idea is, how are teams going to guard him? How are you going to guard someone who's 7 feet tall, but can dribble? Watch this. Can move laterally. Put my hand up. And then I'm pushing away from the best. And listen, I'm about to say a name that's insane, but Kevin Durant famously when he came into the NBA had one of the worst bench press numbers in at the combine that year. I believe he had the works. Not known for his strength. Skinny guy, people had the same questions. 6 ten, how's he going to score? Well, now I mean, he's one of the best scores of all time. I'm probably going to finish at the top ten player ever because he can shoot over anyone. He's 7 feet tall and he can dribble. Sure, you have guys like PJ Tucker or whoever we're trying to use their strength to box them out or be rough with him, but the tradeoff is he can shoot over everyone. And if you put a lanky big guy on him, he'll dribble around them. If you put a small player on him, he'll shoot over him. So I think that's the hope with someone like Cheddar, and he's obviously not going to become Kevin Durant. He's one of the greatest players in NBA history, but those guys have players are becoming increasingly difficult to defend in the NBA. But is Chet holmgren and alpha Rohan. Just kidding. Gary. You could definitely Paul Harvey that. And do the old and that's spaghetti boy that nobody loved grew up to be Kevin Durant. And now you know the rest of the story. My draft board, my personal NBA draft board for, again, I guess the Sacramento Kings, I haven't really been that into them since the days of like Mitch Richmond and Walt Williams, but I have a hat somewhere here. I would have taken Chet holmgren first. I would have taken James. Wow. Maybe second. No. Then, and then you have, I would have gone like jabari Smith and then like, thank you. The only reason I have Keegan Murray 5th is because Keegan Murray's apparently like 37 years old, even though he was a college sophomore. But yeah, sounds like an urban Meyer draft pick. Jaden? What's urban Meyer gonna do next? Call college football TV. Yeah. They hired him? Yeah, there's no, I mean, you know, this is America. There is no punishment for people who do. Oh my God. So you just kicking people..

"They're going to make them very exciting. Rohan super jacked about a left tackle that has played zero full seasons in the NFL. But no, I am with you. I want to believe I like Mike mcdaniel. I met Mike mcdaniel at the combine and he shook my hand and he said, Conor orr, what is your favorite boat propulsion device? And then because my last name is fantastic. Yeah, I love it. So from that moment, I was like, sold. This guy is very cool. I hope he was by far the number one interaction that I've ever had from meeting a new head coach, which is great. My concern, I think, so I think that Mike mcdaniel was sort of the, what's the completion of the metaphor I'm looking for here? Who is the best kind of pop culture man behind the man? You know, like the guy behind the curtain pulling all this through. Kris Jenner? What's that? Yes. Okay, yes. So he is the Kris Jenner of the Kyle Shanahan offense. I think that he is the mastermind of how all of this fits together. My hope is that he can make that work in Miami long enough to kind of solidify himself there before the outside zone gets stoppable. You know what I'm saying? Does that make sense? Because now 40%, I think, was the estimate I heard the other day of the NFL is running some version of this offense. And I know that's offensive. That would be like the number one psychology professor at Yale and the psychology professor Pomona community college being like, yeah, we both teach psychology. It's like, no, I don't, you know, what Arthur Smith is doing. I mean, Atlanta. I laughed at that joke, but I just like to say I'm not condoning an shout out to Pomona. I'm sure it's a great Pomona is great. I'm not condoning the shade goner has been throwing. Yeah, what's a college I could actually share? Just make fun of northwestern. That's true. Yeah. Yeah, be like northwestern being like, we have a journalism school. Okay guys, yeah. Hilarious. But yeah, that would be like Arthur Smith saying I run outside zone and Mike mcdaniel saying I run outside zone. Two very different things. One guy kind of copied the system and cribbed it. One guy sort of invented the modern version of the system, right? So I have faith, my hope is that it comes to fruition. I think we need more head coaches like Mike mcdaniel, who are personality forward who are not afraid to say things, yes. Yeah. It's all good. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's great. Just the organization needed a vibe shift. And I'm not saying that that's, but again, tua is going to have to prove it this year. Everyone's in agreement on that. They've obviously even stockpiling lots of draft picks. I think frankly, in the event that they need to move on from two, I don't think that's a secret, but the fact that they've given him a coach that actually wants to play him a competent offensive line, competent weapons, those are things that he did not have. And I just want to double down on something I saw, shout out to Jason McCourty, who I think said this on NFL network the other day, but, you know, I've seen people say, you know, this quarterback doesn't need that or, you know, how many years did Russell Wilson complain about his offensive coordinator in Seattle or he had someone like Doug Baldwin not to mention the defense he had early in his career. How much more did Josh Allen improve once the bills got Stefon Diggs? I think Anthony Lynn gets criticized for maybe some of the in game management. He had in San Diego, but was an up and coming offensive mind when Justin Herbert was drafted. There are ecosystems that young quarterbacks need. And I think it's long overdue for two and a half this kind of support system around him in Miami. You wanted to see me miss swinton? Have you been hearing about the new government modernization efforts? AI, RPA's data science, things are changing at this agency, and people will need new skills. I'd like you to get some training. Top Gun: Maverick is one of the greatest movies ever made, see it on the biggest screen possible. You got yourself a deal. Tom Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick. What's your Russell Wilson take? I think this looks like it's going to be a disaster. It's like wow. It's just like an uncanny valley situation. It doesn't look right when he's in the uniform. Why is he so thick now? Like, when did he get so thick? A little bit on the heavy side. A little bit on the heavy side. I'm getting just veered very weird off putting just feelings coming off from that entire situation. I don't know what he was thinking. I mean, not that Pete Carroll is like Don Shula or something, but I don't know why it didn't work out there and I'm not getting a good feeling about this Bronco situation. Interesting. Wow. What's the conventional do people? I understand that he's I think he's a fantastic quarterback in the level of consistency he's obviously had for a long time is remarkable. At the same time, he has struggled now for stretches of the last couple seasons of the United States at the injuries, but I'm curious what the conventional wisdom is about him these days. I would say, I'm excited the Broncos new head coach Nathaniel Hackett was, I guess I can say Sports Illustrated's number one head coach in candidate last year and we profiled him before the season. I have a lot of that's another one that's curious to me. He was the guy who he was in Jacksonville for a little bit, right? And brought Blake bortles to the brink of a Super Bowl, which is like, did he really do that? I have some doubts about a guy who I don't think that Jaguar's offense was ultimately very good. And now he's like, it's like when the dolphins hired Joe philbin and it's like, let's go get the guy who co chair and Rogers. And then maybe you find out that Aaron Rodgers, maybe you find out that Aaron Rodgers had a little bit more to do with it. I'm not saying that Hackett can't be successful and it helps to have Russell Wilson in place already. I'm just I'm not sold on a guy with his resume. Man, we got the dean of Pomona college put us on a list now Nathaniel Hackett's gonna put us on a list. And this is like those Jaguars, that Jaguar seem ultimately proved to be very bad, like it was clearly a fluke playoff run. So how do we really judge his quote.

"It can be a disadvantage, frankly, in the NBA, because a team like the wizards will pay Bradley Beal the same thing, the nets pay Kevin Durant. Even though I cut a love that though, that's like, that's like socialism. I love it. High level. Yeah, it really high level. It's cool. It's really crazy. It's really fascinating how it works. And yeah, and like you said, the NFL, you can get away with much more. Yeah, or just hire someone quote unquote. Quack sides trainer to work for your team also and pay him an exorbitant salary. Yeah. Funnel the money. Always a creative business approach there. You know, let's get to the NFL takes now just to keep audience here. Rohan's still gonna do more than but fewer than 6 questions. We are going to do, I have a feeling spaghetti men is going to end up being like a recurring segment every time Roland is on the show. But let's get to first and foremost, because every time something happens with tua, you gotta bring on the residents who are experts. Yes, and my mind immediately drifts to Roland and that's just, that's the way it goes. And the funny thing is, nothing has happened to tua and tua doesn't say anything. Yet. Do you want to continue? You did it. You did have one mildly spicy press conference during OTAs, which was yes. But that was it. But even that was nothing, nothing revelatory. It's like you had there was the infamous Twitter social media post of him throwing the default to Tyra kilt. That was under thrown, which I imagine if you loaded up any quarterback and showed all their practice throws, you'd find some under throwing balls, but everyone kind of had fun with that. And then tyreek hill just like runs out there and he's like, he's like, what two is more accurate than Patrick Mahomes, which I guess on a very specific type of throw, you could say, yeah, but really, I mean, well, how do you feel about it? I mean, he's throwing tua into a debate with Patrick Mahomes now, and I just feel like even tua was probably like, let's hold off for a little bit. Listen, again, as you mentioned, I think you could probably if you really wanted to make some kind of argument that Tula is more accurate on this specific definition of the term on short to intermediate throws. You could make that argument maybe like I'm not going to sit here and say two is more accurate than Patrick Mahomes. If you look at the volume of deep balls that Patrick Mahomes throws and the level to which he completes those, those high value plays that blows anything to us done so far in his career out of the water. I'm not that delusional. I do think that tyreek hill, I'm sure a, he wants to say interesting things on his podcast. You know, it's not very interesting to say that Patrick Mahomes is more accurate and B I think he's trying to gas up this quarterback a little bit. That's ultimately why I don't have a problem with that. I'm loving the confidence that the head coach is showing that the star wide receiver is showing that the organization overall is showing into it. It's frankly the kind of backing he hasn't had for two years when the team was maybe paying the coach to take the coach was yanking him in and out of the starting lineup. They had two offensive coordinators, you know, it's just been kind of a clown show there for the last two years, and I think that while we all are in agreement that it could backfire, I don't think the organization is anything to lose behind throwing their full conference behind them and ultimately I like to see that. Ronna, you subscribe to tyreek hill's podcast. No, honestly, I don't even know the name of it. Yeah. No, I'm not. How long are the episodes? Are they like, what could he possibly have to talk about for 45 minutes every week? Well, that's what we were arguing that from a content perspective, he sort of he sort of gave us the season finale in the first episode. He came out and said that he said Andy Reid sucks and that tua is better than Patrick Mahomes. I don't know how many more hot takes that he possesses that kind of authority over. This is like the pilot. This is like the pilot episode of the shield. If you guys have ever seen that show, they really came in hot in that first episode. That's what tyreek hill is doing. You have to, I mean, you know what it is. Well, I don't know. Have either of you ever seen Friday night lights, the television show? Yeah, of course. Are you kidding me? Yeah. So it's basically the equivalent of crippling the handsome star quarterback in F one, you know? You're being like, here you go, Jason street, never gonna walk again. Moving on. But yeah, my tyreek hill take and I'm curious what yours is. You know, I've kind of been asking around about this and it has come to my, I've come to the conclusion that he is going to be a very intermediate target where everyone is picturing this Jalen waddle and Tyree kill streaking down the sidelines and catching 60 yard balls. I think it's gonna be a lot of to a taking one step drop and throwing it to tyreek hill and hoping that three yards becomes 7 yards. What are your expectations for this versus your reality in this situation? I don't expect them to transform into the chief's offense. I do think they're going to put a lot of pressure on defenses because of their speed on the outside. I also don't think it's going to be as simple as you're describing. I think Mike mcdaniel is a little bit more inventive than that. Do you like Mike mcdaniel? I love Mike mcdaniel. I think he's great. I think he's everyone always loves the new coach, so there's an element of that. But in terms of what he did for Jimmy Garoppolo, Garoppolo wasn't chucking the ball down the field at the same time, he wasn't doing one strap drops. Throwing a short route, hoping for the best, I think what mcdaniel thrives at is scheming guys open when you think about what Sean mcvay did for Jared Goff early in his career. I mean, they made it to a Super Bowl playing a style that it wasn't counting on Jared Goff to be Patrick Mahomes, but he could scheme guys open have the games, et cetera. Again, I mentioned this the first time we talked about tua and tyrique on this podcast, but I think what they can do side to side their horizontal passing game, I think is going to be really effective. Again, I mean, how many times we see tyreek hill run a drag route for Pat Mahomes, their third and fourth down plays, the number of times he got open that way. Throwing someone like waddle in the mix, you know, I think crossers, et cetera, a lot of things are going to come open for them. It doesn't just have to be the deep ball to be effective. All right. Okay. Okay. We're going to keep chewing on this to his stuff for the rest of the off season. Listen, I think he's set up for success here. They rebuilt the offensive line, which is just as important. Everyone, you know, I listen to you guys, the coastal elitists on the Switzer illustrated MMV podcast. They all want to talk about the passing game. They all want to talk about the deep ball. Who is going to talk about the offensive lineman, who's going to talk about Tehran Armstead coming in to short things up on the offensive line for the Miami Dolphins. What about giving to a better than the worst rushing attack in the entire league? How about that? Making a little bit of a difference for him. When Mac Jones throws one pass in a game, it's, oh, look at this genius. This team player, this oh my God. What a sacrifice he made throwing one pass, but no one talks about how they're allowed to do that because of the run game they have. Something too has not had his entire career, so I think there's a lot of things happening in Miami.

"Hello and welcome to the MMP NFL podcast. I'm Gary gremlin. And I'm Connor orr and Connor, we have a guest coming in in just a bit, but I want to, first of all, just sort of a sure our listeners that this is not going to slowly morph into a hot takey NBA podcast just because this person is here. Though Connor and I do have some pent up NBA takes that we want to get out there. But it is still going to be an NFL podcast. There are some interesting to me. There are some interesting similarities between the NBA champion Golden State Warriors and NFL champion Los Angeles Rams. I think are worth poking and prodding at. And then we have some spaghetti men to discuss. Well, I'll disclaimer the disclaimer by saying speak for yourself. This is, this is my one chance to be highly irrational. I know very little about the NBA, which is about the level that some fans have of the NFL Draft when they get to scream at me on Twitter, so this is my chance to scream at Rohan and basically just get all my NBA takes out into the world and I'm very excited for that. Oh man, this is gonna be an exercise in willpower for most of this show, but right now let's producer Shelby ultimately has the gavel here and will remove most of what I have to say. Wow, I can't believe that was a 6 minute episode of this podcast. With that said, let's bring in our guests Sports Illustrated NBA writer Rohan Ned Carney. Back at the show, Miami, dolphins, I'll call you a super fan. There we go. You goddamn, right? You know? Well, we'll see, we'll see if we can change that by the end of the show, but we have some crossover Y stuff to talk about first. And let's start with that. That sentiment, because we've heard this a little bit about the rams and you just kind of roll your eyes in the NFL because yeah, the salary cap's a lie, but it is a hard salary cap and people were kind of like, well, the rim should spot their championship. It's like, well, that's what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to, you're supposed to get good players, which costs money, and then you're supposed to try and win as many games as possible. And hopefully get a Super Bowl here. But this was much heavier criticism of the Golden State Warriors who, of course, just captured another NBA title here. The number, let me make sure I get this right. 346 million was their payroll when you factor in luxury tax and that is because the NBA has a soft salary cap, but that is obviously much, much higher than most NBA teams, but I don't know. How do you, how do you parse that, Rohan? First of all, just want to say it all seriously. Thrilled to be back on the show. You guys saw my hot takes. I'll get to get my hot dolphins takes off. Just my hot NFL takes in general. I can't wait, you know, I got some Russell Wilson Broncos talk that we need to do. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. So I got a lot. I got a lot on the docket here. As far as the warriors go and I'm glad you brought this up, Gary, because it's been out there, the NBA circles too. Just from people who aren't familiar, the NBA has a luxury tax system. So teams that spend above a certain amount every year, they pay into the luxury tax. It's revenue that's then shared with teams that pay below this number and salary. The warriors have a lot of expensive players on their roster, draymond green, Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry Andrew Wiggins et cetera, just some of the big names. Frankly, this is how every team on this level needs to operate and it's hilarious to me that anyone, especially in the NFL, which the salary cap can be manipulated in the NFL in terms of bonuses, restructurings, cap hits can be manipulated and this and that, but at the end of the day, in the NFL, particularly the seams aren't a pretty level playing field. Every franchise value is incredibly high, higher than the NBA. There's a reason you don't see a lot of turnover in the NFL. I mean, they're sitting on gold mines. They don't want to sell these teams. It seems like whenever you need a stadium belt, you're able to get it done publicly. And as you mentioned, there is a hard cap while teams are skilled at manipulating it. The Dallas Cowboys, which they tried to do that one year the league was uncapped and they got penalized for it. Jerry Jones can not spend more money on his team than the Green Bay Packers. And so the idea that the rams are getting any criticism, this is what every team in the NFL should be doing. There's no excuse for any of these owners to not be spending the amount of money it takes to not be eating the cap hits and the dead money, et cetera because you're making so much money. If you're the rams and you have this opportunity, you're maybe able to make it work under the salary cap, it would be crazy not to do it. I wonder, what is the impetus like, are there different so we know different NFL markets as, okay, this owner is just a guy who's just gonna sit on his backside and he wants to cash the checks and go 8 and 8 or whatever it is 8 and 9 now can't go anymore. Unless you Jeff Fisher, you will find a way. But yeah. 8 8 and one, yeah. But are there those owners in MBA circles too, where it's like, okay, like what? All right, this is gonna show my lack of general knowledge of the NBA, but I'm trying to pull like a random franchise. No, listen, you don't even need to. There are several teams in the NBA known frankly for ducking the luxury tax and what the warriors are doing is putting overdue pressure on some of these other owners. I mean, the Houston Rockets famously, they thought Chris Paul was on the worst contract in the NBA, their owner didn't want to pay him that much money, traded him to the Phoenix Suns, the Phoenix Suns have turned into a title contender, but now the Phoenix Suns who were finished number one in the regular season last year by a mile, they make break up their team to an extent because they don't want to pay into the luxury tax. The Miami Heat, the last year they had LeBron James released Mike Miller and what was a salary cap move and allegedly that angered LeBron James. There are a lot of owners of even good teams go to organizations in the NBA. There are constantly trying to duck luxury tax payments. There's something called, we don't have to get into the minutia of the NBA CVA, but there's something called the repeater tax. So the warriors, for example, pay even more luxury tax because of how many years in a row they've been paying it. There's a lot of owners, I would say the majority of owners in the league try to avoid paying, frankly. And it's terrible. It's.

Jack Del Rio Calls out the Left's Hypocrisy

"The Washington commander's find its defensive coordinator. A man named Jack Del Rio, Washington commanders in NFL team National Football League team. It was known as the Redskins for about 80 years. Until the left in an act of utter irrationality got rid of the name, forced them to. Del Rio compared the January 6th protests at the capital with the quote riots looting and burning unquote that destroyed thousands of businesses and cities during the summer of 2020. This is what he said in a press conference earlier last week. Why are we not looking into those things if we're going to talk about it and why are we not looking into those things? I see the images on TV, people's livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down, no problem. And then we have a dust up at the capitol, nothing burned down, and we're going to make that a major deal. Every word he said is accurate. As I said, the Democrats use the January 6th, the way the national socialists as they were known in Germany used the Reichstag fire. As an excuse to impose draconian rule in the country. And not comparing the Democrats to the Nazis. Obviously, I'm comparing tactic to tactic. The question was referencing a tweet he made before the press conference in which he asked to hear the whole story. On the so called protest at the capitol. Quote would love to understand the whole story about why the summer of riots looting burning and destruction of personal property is never discussed, but this is, question mark question mark question mark. Hashtag common sense. Since his comments came under fire, he has since apologized after the team's head coach Ron Rivera issued a statement so sad he apologized. It is so sad.

"Already has three years left in his contract and the ramps have planned for this and budgeting for this and plan for the fact that somehow some way they would find a way to pay arguably the best defensive player in all football. Now he has the chance and the option to withhold his services, but he's not going to withhold them Saturday night in LA. He's going to be a Sean mcvay's wedding. Doesn't sound like he's going to withhold them next week for the mini camp. And I would guess that when the regular season begins, that Aaron Donald will be amongst the highest paid defensive players in football and not withholding his services than either. I think the fact that Sean mcvay has been engaged three years to me, I need to have a conversation with him. I set the over under at three for all three of us married me on the set. And as far as Aaron Donald is concerned, here's what I'd say. Aaron Donald is not going to turn down $30 million per year. Let's just say they get close to 29. You mean to tell me that Aaron Donald is going to retire and walk away. This is much to do about nothing. This is about Aaron Donald posturing throughout the media or through the media to make sure that he gets here his 28, 29, $30 million a year, and he's the highest paid defensive player. Maybe in the history of football. So it's going to happen is just a matter of time, Tim. Yeah, bug, you know the deal. No matter how much money you made, $30 million still a lot of money. Here's what I would say too, as it relates to the rams and you can almost kind of see Sean mcvay talking about those Super Bowl contending team with them. Without him, they are not. And that's why when you talk about the money bug and maybe the benchmarks that get set for defensive player. Look, he's valuable. One of the best things you can say about a quarterback is he makes the guys around him better. I think you can actually say that about Johnny Depp so disruptive. He requires so much attention that look at creates good opportunities for other guys. I think the secondary plays with an anticipation that the ball has got to come out quickly. And those things are important to make a defense good or at times the championship level, which the ram certainly were a year ago. I said this yesterday, I'll repeat it again. Whatever the highest paid non quarterback is, that would be TJ watt, just add like a handful of $1 million more per year and if I would make Aaron Donald very happy, he is deserving of it. There's still a lot going on around the NFL as we begin the month of June. And of course, we've got the mayor knows all chefy with us. So chef D, let's get to the latest in terms of top storylines beginning with the Texans and some amazing donations. Yeah, how about the Houston Texans players field, they rallied together to raise $200,000 for the victims of uvalde, Texas. And then the Houston Texans organization itself matched that 200 making it $400,000 to that area, which is certainly in need of money and emotional support and all the help it can get, but a great gesture by the Houston Texans players and the Texans organization today. Earlier today, the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive ends Stefan to it who had 11 sacks last season, it was only 29 years old, announced he's retiring from the NFL going to use his Notre-Dame degree going to move ahead with his life. It was a difficult decision. His teammates will obviously miss him. He's been a really good player, former first round draft pick for that team, but he just felt like he was being called to do something other than play football at this time in his life Stefan to it becomes the latest player to walk away from the game, almost in the prime of his career and also today the Capitol Hill summoned Roger Goodell and Dan Snyder requested their presence to testify at a congressional hearing. Now again, their presence has been requested. It doesn't mean that Roger Goodell and Dan Snyder will appear on Capitol Hill later this month but Congress would like some answers as to the culture that existed in the Washington organization. The NFL maintains that it's turned over hundreds of thousands of pages of documents that it's done in investigation, but Congress wants more answers and has requested the presence of both Roger Goodell and Dan Snyder. See where that story moves next because we have developing story here on NFL live. Today is Madden day in the NFL gaming world and the cover has been officially released. This year, John Madden returned to the cover of EA Sports Madden NFL 23, an amazing tribute as what's more synonymous with Madden than Madden himself and of course the 99 rating as we are now 99 days until kick-off of the 2022 NFL regular season. So we're asking this question, who deserves the 99 rating special year of EA Madden NFL 23 book, we'll start with you. Well, I think it's the guy that wears number 99. He's the most dominant player at any position in football and air to Aaron Donald. He doesn't need any help. He doesn't throw a football. He doesn't need to catch it. You put him. He put him on the defensive line. Your line is hand up and he can absolutely dominate in any offensive line. He sent her a guard to tackle to me, he's the most dominant player in the NFL. Great choice, book. How about the Indianapolis Colts running back? Jonathan Taylor being a 99. Last year had the tremendous year is likely to be the top pick in most fantasy drafts across the country this year, not sure where the jock Peterson and Tommy family will be fighting over him and who will be able to pick him, but Jonathan Taylor is as close to a 99 this year as you could possibly get in worthy of a rating that high in the Madden gate. I like it out of my little bit off the radar guy I'm choosing his on the radar that's Aaron Rodgers. I think about what he's done the last four seasons guys a 136 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Like there is never been a stretch by a quarterback with that type of touchdown interception ratio. Basically 9 touchdowns for every interception he throws. It's an insane amount of production. He's been so good at being aggressive with the ball, but you have protecting the football. He would easily get a 99. Yeah, I'll give all those guys in 99 as well. And you mentioned Aaron Rodgers, damn it, particularly notable because tonight the match takes place on TNT featuring four of the NFL's best quarterbacks that Young Bucks, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, take on the seasoned veterans, Tom Brady, and the aforementioned Aaron Rodgers. It's a golf match. It's in Las Vegas tonight. You know, as for Aaron Rodgers, a much anticipated match between the old guys and the young guys as Rogers and Bernie square up against Josh Allen ty veteran homes. Let's get to some of the trash talk here because there has been no shortage of it. Here's what Aaron Rodgers had to say, not a fair fight, me and Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Tom Brady, tired of people saying my golf videos are fake. This stuff is easy. Like FTX official or beating Patrick Mahomes would it matters for Josh Allen, literally any time we play. This is ice cold. Mahomes responds back. I need to talk to whoever wrote this joke with the frustrated and the crying laughing emoji. For this got us thinking. Who would we want to take in the NFL in certain situations and we have our very fancy touchscreen right here. Tim will start with you. Longest drive, best arm, what do you got? I'm going Josh Allen here. To me, all these guys have the ability to throw the football the way that most people aren't blessed to throw the football. I think the term is just being able to power the ball. To all areas of the field, I.

Political Consultant Chip Lake on the 'Outsider Effect'

"Chip, have you noticed like I have over the past say three or four election cycles that the idea of going from zero in politics to NFL, you know, so to speak, we've seen it campaigns, congressional campaigns, governors, campaigns. Has that become more of a trend than it used to be and why do you think that is? It's become a huge trend and it's largely due to one word. And that word is outsider, right? And, you know, being an outsider used to be a disadvantage when you, when you ran for the first time, it used to be an advantage in campaigns and elections to have experience as an elected official. And that's much less so now, right? I mean, 15 years ago, even ten, 15 years ago, if you were a local elected official and you were running for higher office, you know, you had inherent advantages over an opponent who was running for the first time. And those advantages are gone now in today's environment.

"Move the ball in the second half. Cincinnati Bengals, I'm sorry. One source of constant hope for the chiefs is, of course, the fact that they have Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback and Jeff Darlington, I know you caught up with Patrick Mahomes at the F one race in Miami just a couple of weekends ago, I'm sure a lot of the attention was being paid to the race itself, not Paolo Ben Caro, by the way. It was Patrick Mahomes. He spoke with. And I just be curious. Have you got any sense in time around Patrick Mahomes about how he thinks this offense can pick up the pieces with no more tyreek hill who has been the number one whiteout for the entirety of Holmes career to this point. Yeah, field. We didn't talk a lot of football that day, but we did talk a little bit and he did mention that he feels really good about the wide receivers that they have acquired. I know that this was something talking to a lot of people with the chiefs that they really are coveting the idea of having these big bodied wide receivers. And that's not intended to be a knock on tyreek hill. They obviously loved what he did there, but they also love the idea of spreading it around to a lot of these bigger receivers and just going at it with the committee approach. I think that I sense that Patrick is very excited about it. And I think that this is clearly a team that is going to have to sort of redefine its identity a little bit, but I don't necessarily think that they're viewing that as a bad thing. So, you know, the cars were fast that day. And I think Patrick Mahomes still expects his offense to do the same. I was going to say, more importantly, Jeff, I wanted to get mahomes thoughts on drive to survive, who was favorite F one racer is. What he thought of Miami. We're.

"Hey, that's my man, man. Listen, it's right now. It's live TV. I thought Marcus is going to be going. It was crazy. Listen for Daniel Jones. This one to be about him finding ways to hold onto the football to be secure in the pocket and be able to get the ball out of his hands when he needs to and make better decisions. He has to show them he can be a guy that can not only lead a team in a locker room, believe them on the field to win. It has to be okay for punts and field goals. All right, now we have still our seat. We're going to get Jeff involved in just a moment here. To a tongue by loa, and the dolphins continue their OTAs today. There's no doubt that tua has struggled during his first two seasons compared to pre Jeff expectations, but he hasn't had a ton of help since to enjoy the dolphins. They're offensive line as the worst past fluff went past block win rate in the NFL. They also rank bottom three in yars per rush, an average separation by receivers, dolphins didn't make several moves this off season, which included the additions of tyreek hill and Tehran Armstead. So our sea sort of same premise here, lots of changes, and Jeff Johnson kicks off, excuse me. So JD, we got you back here in the flesh. Just sort of size up how things are looking right now for tua and this new look offense under Mike mcdaniel and all of these new pieces that are being integrated as well. Well, you mentioned some of those additions. And this is, by the way, the field an example of the dolphins not only going all in to support tua, but also just trying to do what they've been planning for the last several years, which was to acquire a bunch of draft picks and then eventually use them to turn this offense into something better. Mike mcdaniel ultimately can oversee these different weapons and this is actually the important time of year from mcdaniel to kind of become that mad genius that he was known to be in San Francisco. Because when training camp hits when the season hits, ultimately he's going to have to be that head coach who oversees everything. But right now, he's in the lab and he's thinking about guys like Jalen waddle and Tyree kill on the same field together. He's thinking about having protection from Armstead. He's thinking about the fact that I'm going to focus on yards after catch and put to it in the best possible spot. So there's actually a lot happening here in Miami that I think could go a very long way into developing this offense into something that they've been envisioning down here for several years now. Yeah, Jeff, I know you commented earlier this off season. There's more buzz surrounding the dolphins and there's been a long time, perhaps dating towards a tail end of the Dan Marino era. RC, let's get back to you here for a second. Do you think the two was a good fit for this Mike with Daniel offense? Listen, I do think that two was a good fit for this offense. Let's think back to what he was and who he was at Alabama. It was about getting the football out of hand quickly being a run and then play action teeth. Isn't that what they do in these Mike McDaniels Kyle Shanahan type of offenses is going to be a run head to team that gets you into get you into position where you can go in yards after the catch and the one thing to talk about lower was great as was when he had people on the outside when there was talent. He got the football. He got the football to the guys that can make plays in the best ways and I think that's what he'll do as well for the Miami Dolphins. Yeah, Jeff mentioned yards after catch. You just brought it up as well RC. You go back and look at the teams that led the NFL in yards after the catch per catch over each of the past few seasons. It's the forty-niners and the forty-niners again and the forty-niners once more. They certainly were 18. It was great. They were playing in space. So a team that has some expectations coming into this year. And all of a sudden a division that, by the way, looks very, very good. But perhaps no division looks more stacked than the AFC west, which is where we turn our attention to now after each team of the division made significant moves this off season. It's no surprise that FBI projects an extremely close race in the AFC west. And how about this? The Chargers are a slight favorite after adding JC Jackson and Khalil Mack to their defense amongst other off season editions. By the way, Russell Wilson, he's now a Bronco right behind the Chargers, and there's the chiefs. They won this division 6 straight times, and here they are as the third, I guess, place team, so to speak in terms of FBI, so there are so many offensive weapons in this division. I'll see, I'll turn to you. I think the defense is going to be what ends up deciding this division. So let's sort of start with which team, maybe you feel as best equipped to have their defense hold up this year with all of the weapons in the passing game specifically on these offenses. Listen, I'm not going to start with the Los Angeles chargers. I had a great conversation with Brandon Stanley at the LSU pro day. And he said, we know that we have to build our Justin Herbert to keep that transcendent type of talent that suits all total Hall of Fame type of talent at the quarterback position. But why can't you do that for your defense as well? And he was speaking about building a defense around Derwin James. He said, Derwin had to do way too much last year and was used in too many ways. Now that you add a JC Jack, can you add a Khalil Mack up front? You have linebackers that can go sideline to sideline. You already had Joey Bosa up front. You can do so many different things with a healthy asante Samuel. We're now doing James can just be himself. He can be that freakish athlete that can move into the dying position that can blitz off the edge that can cover the slot. Play the middle of the field. I believe that this defense is stacked on every single level. And when you have a defense like that that has freakish talent at certain positions, you can win. I believe that this defense along with what they can do offensively does put the Los Angeles charges at the top of the AFC west. Here are some good news. I believe that we have Marcus spears with us now as well. And swagger if you heard RC, feel free to take it away. Otherwise, just general thoughts on how this charger's defense has come together this off season. Swagger, can you hear me okay? All right, we are having we are efforting on swag. We're going to head back now to Kansas City. And again, 6 time as a division champ in a row, so the chiefs had one of the worst run defenses in the NFL last season, ranking last and run stop win rate and allowing the second most yards to rush. So they focus on diva to the draft, using both of their first round picks on defenders, including the selection of defensive end George karloff's late in the first. Now they did lose versatile veteran tyron Matthew and free agency, that happened after they signed Justin Reed to a three year deal. He, of course, being a former Texan. RC, we're gonna head over to you. I was gonna ask Marcus whether the chiefs did enough on defense to be able to stop some of these high powered offensive attacks. I'll ask you that same question instead. I think the chiefs attempted to, you know, I think people are gonna look at the two first round pinch me. You think Trent mcduffie and you also go to colossus and say, okay, they did enough. But Trent mcduffie is going to be a guy that's going to play very well in the back end. I'm thinking about having a pass rusher up front that's going to create pressure. That's going to create sex almost give you turnovers with that type of ball awareness. And I just don't know if Carlos is that. And then if you go to the other side and Frank Clark, who is underachieve that's being at Kansas City, it still kind of seems that there's only Chris Jones up front. Also when you go to the bank and tyron Matthew held so many things in place. But what they wanted to do in the secondary, I do believe losing him will be huge from a leadership and communication standpoint. Just to read is probably an upgrade and athleticism, but when we think about the things that you have seen when you're tyron Matthew in the positions you've been in, I believe that it is invaluable what he meant to that team. So without adding an elite pass rushers without necessarily knowing which to give them some back end, I don't believe that the Kansas City Chiefs are really in any better position than we saw them in last year when they couldn't stop the Buffalo Bills in the divisional playoff round and they allowed the Kansas City Chiefs to run out the clock late when the office couldn't.

"I got the brown schedule last night. The browns NFL released the schedule. And there it is, we open away and we close away. Honestly, the NFL hates the browns. They've always hated the browns. I don't know why they hate Cleveland, but Roger Goodell, you know, he walked in and said, whatever we do in the schedule, the browns are gonna open away and close away. And we close at Pittsburgh. Even though they're lousy in a crummy team, we do open away in Carolina. And if we can't beat Carolina, it's gonna be a long season, but deshaun Watson probably going to be suspended. I don't know. But as a browns fan as a northeastern Ohio native is a true blue son of the land that schedules okay. But I have to complain because I am a true blue senator

"Let's say based on what this team looks like as a whole, I realize this is not real, but I want to know your answer here. What if they had gotten Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo? Would you feel better about him or just the same as you feel about him with wins? Well, Laura, I'll say this, I would have felt better for the Washington commanders, had they gotten Jimmy Garoppolo. I felt like he was a guy with a supporting cast that they have. He's a proven winner. He's not a guy that's going to win the games for you, but he can take you there. So I'd have been more comfortable with that. But I would say to chef the end, woody, this is the best roster that Carson has ever played with, whether he was in Philly or Indianapolis. So they are writing on his coattails and kind of hoping that that 2017 version of him comes out, but they also didn't just play around. They surrounded him with extreme talented players. So when I look at it, no, I'm not saying that the Washington commanders are going to win the Super Bowl. But if they get the Carson went from 2017, they got a chance. Okay, we got time for one more thing before we go guys. At patriots first round of full strange throughout the ceremonial first pitch for the Chattanooga lookouts, and let me just say guys, this is what I look like throwing out a first pitch. It's not good for Cole strange. I'm pretty sure that wasn't a strike. Oh no. Oh. A throwing out of horse pitch. Here we go. Okay. As you can tell by my face, it didn't go well. What? I can't believe you guys found that episode. You guys really, really? The worst. They ever had. Why don't you please go for a lot of wins for the Pensacola? Hey, this is filled the ace from fantasy focus football, following our first mock draft in advance of the 2022 season. Part of the moments that matter series presented by supercuts, the smarter, easier way to get a haircut. It's not just any haircut, it's super guts. Makes one, two, and three, when exactly how you thought they would. Taylor McCaffrey Eckler. So now I'm left with a decision. Do I go with my little Cooper cop or do I go with another, you know, star running back, a Derek Henry, maybe a Dalvin cook. It seems to naji Harris go that high. I decided to go with my little Cooper Cup at four for two reasons. Number one is, as you mentioned, it's the first mock of the season. Kind of wanted to see how my team would turn out if I went wide receiver in the first round. Number two is, and this is something we're going to talk about with Cooper Cup throughout this off season, which is he edit monster year, a record breaking year, like literally a record breaking year. And so obviously we expect some regression. He can regress quite a bit and still be worth the number one wide receiver in fantasy football. If you take his ten worst games from last year, it's over 207 fantasy points, which is better than like step on Diggs ten best games from last year. That's moments the matter presented by supercuts. Supercuts is the perfect way to get a haircut if you're someone who doesn't have time for air. "Agency to help him out. Yeah, Robert, much like the Los Angeles Rams, the one thing about the Cincinnati Bengals, they're not going to sneak up on anybody this year. I can tell you that with all the talent that they have, but also, you know, this is a young team, okay? This is a young team. They got a bunch of young stars. How are they going to be able to handle that success? Are they going to be able to put last year behind them and understand that this year has nothing to do with last year? You can't carry over last year's success to this year because this go around, everybody's going to be bringing their a game. So I'm curious to see how this team is going to handle kind of the notoriety that they got from that great season they had last year. Well, listen, this is a team that is loaded with talent. I think this is a team that altered teams in its division to draft a certain way to help shut down Joe burrow Jamar chase, Tyler boy T Higgins, some of the great wide receivers, and this is a team that looks like right now with the young talent in place that it's going to have staying power for a long time, we didn't think of the Cincinnati Bengals as an elite team in the National Football League. And it looks like they may have arrived at that already, but they'll take some staying power. Yeah, it's interesting. Robert wants more debt there when it comes to their pass catching, which makes sense, but hey, try stop in Ja'Marr chase. I mean, anybody, good luck. And then you've got Tyler Boyd and tie Higgins who probably don't get enough credit. We got more coming your way on NFL live. The dolphins have loaded up. They're year three quarterback two it's hunger by loa with weapons, but does he have the arm strength to put Tyree kill to use? Does he even need it? We're gonna answer those questions around maybe one of the better offenses in the NFL. We'll be right back. We're back on NFL live, a developing story relating Jerry Judy Adam. What do we know? Jerry Judy was arrested and taken into custody the staff during in arapaho county outside of Denver and a short time ago, the arapaho county sheriff announced that Jerry Judy is being held at the arapaho county jail on charges of second degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer a misdemeanor. He's on a no bond hold and he's innocent until proven guilty. So obviously there's a situation that will be monitoring. I'm sure the NFL will be looking into it the Broncos are gathering information themselves and we'll see what develops. All right, we'll keep an eye on it. Thanks to Adam, we got more to get to here on NFL live. Let's get to the dolphins. They've made their intentions clear. Give to a tongue by lower, the best possible situation to succeed and see if he holds up his end of that bargain. They traded for tyreek hill, of course, added Cedric Wilson, to run Armstead, Connor Williams on the O line, chase Edmonds, running back. They still have jaylen waddle, they're loaded, and dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said this to SI dot com when asked if there were any limitations in the offense regarding tua. He said, I wouldn't say that we're limiting ourselves in anything. He's actually been doing a great job of everyday presenting different routes, different things we're trying to accomplish with receivers. So I would say that everything we've done so far has been extremely optimistic because there are certain things in our progressions and reads and his ability to move from throughout his progression. So that, of course, stemming from a viral video earlier this week to tyreek hill, but the big question surrounding two of this off season is will he be able to stretch the field with all of Miami's weapons. Last season, he actually ranked second in the league in completion percentage and fourth in off target percentage on passes 20 plus yards downfield. However, there's a caveat to that. As less than 8% of his pass attempts traveled that far downfield, which was the third lowest rate of any qualifying quarterback, when he did throw downfield Damien, he was pretty good at it. But it just is a matter of not doing it that often. I will say some of that could have to do with the fact that when you don't have the weapons that you necessarily feel you want to throw to all the time, it could affect how you play. Also your offensive line, but does to it need to throw the deep ball to have success this season. Well, I mean, you got to threaten all areas of the field, right? Because if you don't do that, then the defense can adjust accordingly. And what's the point in getting this track team that might be dolphins? At the skill position, if you're not going to threaten every inch of blade on the football field, listen, I think two is going to press through. He's going to push the ball down the field with all those weapons that we kill, you know, Jalen waddling company, but also remember this is they're going to be running a West Coast style offense and first and foremost they want to run the football and everything comes after that. So yes, he's going to push the ball down the field, but they want to run the football first and foremost. Yeah, with Mike mcdaniel, there is the head coach Robert does to have the ability to excel at throwing the deep ball. Laura yeah, tua does have the ability to throw the deep ball and people have to understand that it's very hard to drop back in the pocket and throw anything down the field when you have the 32nd rank pass block unit in front of you like he did last season. So of course, he's going to throw those short passes. But now with Mike mcdaniel coming in, adding Tehran Armstead and Connor Williams that offensive line. I feel like two is going to have a chance to breathe in the pocket and push the ball down the field to tyreek hill, Cedric Wilson, and also jaylen waddle. So when I look at you got to understand that when he came out of college, everybody fell in love with him and part of the reason was because of his ability to push the ball down the field between 2018 and 2020, he completed 54.4% of his passes 25 yards down the field. That's more than anybody in college football history in the last ten years. So tour's ability to throw the ball down the field is only connected to the protection that he gets and the guys he has the ball to throw to. Tua is a faith based guy and now God's blessed him with all the weapons he can possibly imagine on offense. All he has to do is go out and complete them, right? Tua is under more pressure, right? Two is under more pressure this season than a lawyer who knows that his client is guilty in the courtroom. Oh. Well, what team in the league has added more talent on the offensive side of the football to RG three's point than the dolphins. There's not a team in football that's added the firepower that the dolphins have. Tyreek hill. Cedric Wilson, chase Edmonds. They've just keep adding more and more offensive firepower. Nobody has added as much offensive talent as the dolphins. And so now, in his second year, tua obviously is going to be asked to do a lot more should be asked to do a lot more. New system, but there is a lot of talent surrounding him. That's not his use anymore. Yeah, it's interesting because Robert referred back to his time in college and covering him throughout that time. He was also very careful about when he threw the depot. They were so hesitant to turn the ball over. He did it well then, and he did it at a historic rate, but I do wonder if some of that's been in the back of his mind as well as he's been trying to figure out how to do it without the protection that he needed. We'll see how that team gels with all those new faces. Let's get to some other guys that may have a little bit to prove this year at the quarterback position. Time for some quick reads, we just talked about tua, but which QB has the most approved in 2022, Damien, you first. Oh yeah, I'm going with the Philadelphia Eagles Jalen hurts. You're talking about helping you young quarterback, right? You go out on the first night of drive, you trade for AJ Brown the tremendous wide receiver from the Tennessee Titans. You got devonte Smith, okay? Got Dallas Gardner, miles Sanders in the backfield. Like, if you can't get it, basically Philadelphia Eagles saying, you can't get it done with these guys. Then sorry, we got to move on with those multiple first round draft picks next year. All for me, the guy that has the most approved is Daniel Jones. No one outside of the building believes in him. The people in the building don't believe in him enough to give him a 5th year option, but he does have an opportunity to turn the narrative on its head and go out there and let that dog hunt. Because he has all the skills, the height, the size, the arm strength, he just has to show people that he can be the guy in New York and one of the toughest markets to play, and he has a great supporting.

"Now, he may very well do so because I don't think AJ Brown had a difficult route tree in Tennessee because of what you just said with what they do with Derek Harry out of the backfield. But here's what gives me pause RC. Pause for the cause. Derek here he is phenomenal. And we know the Tennessee Titans want to run the football. But they ain't went in the Super Bowl running the foot. And I want to know that they really feel like trailer birch was a where they staring in the mirror. Did they feel at the same time? Or was the money you pay antenna hill because remember Derek has already paid? All of that. All of that plays into it. I don't necessarily think that the pick for trailer was like, okay, we can go get Burke's. We can let AJ go 'cause we can give birth. Right. I think that was what you moved to secondarily. Right. You have to go get somebody. I don't think when you look at it though, I do believe they can be successful in that division. You got to look at the division in Houston and Jacksonville. We don't really know Indies going to compete. There's no question about it with Matt Ryan. But when you look at the receiver position as a whole and you said are they looking in the mirror, right then? Yes, they are. They see the same trailing is. It's the same guy. You know how coaches think. Okay, they look at it. They say, well, why would we give him $25 million? We are the ones who put him in position to be successful. We can get a guy that does the same sort of things and pay him 50 cents on the dollar. Why would we ever do that? And that is what they're thinking and you're right, RC, they got to get an explosive guy. There's no question about it. They have to go get a couple other playmakers, but it goes through Derek Henry and running game. It's not going to change. If you remember, last year, both of you knucklehead tried to tell me when they got Julio Jones that the offense was going to change. What did they do? They didn't change the offense one lick. They ran the ball because that is what they're going to do. I fought with this dude about them being a running football team. The point is what I just said. You ain't winning no Super Bowl with Derrick Henry doing what he's doing. Because it has it. No. You know what I'm saying? So for me, when you let AJ go, you just let your best offensive piece in how you win. But are you going? Are you going, okay, so let's say they keep AJ and everything is still in place. You go in with tiny here at the quarterback position. Last year. You just played that against Cincinnati. That was a fake number one C, but AJ Brown is one of three receivers in the last 25 years to be a second round pick and get a thousand yards of rookie year. So trail emerged, you got heavy, heavy shoes to fill. I think this is a little bit guys like, I blame the Kansas City Chiefs. One, because everybody wants Patrick Mahomes, and then two, you know, and I said this one to trade happen. This was going to change how the NFL operated because we got an expensive quarterback. Ryan Tannehill is, can we keep the receiver that we really want to keep, but we can't pay them as much. And the reason why they trade in the Philadelphia is Philadelphia is cheap Jalen hurts. Tennessee has expensive Ryan Tannehill. I don't hate the comparison. I don't. But to expect trailer, this is a number one seed that in the first round of the NFL Draft got worse. That's the truth. Tennessee got worse last night. Now trailer Burks, I think is gonna be a nice player if they use them the right way, but because of their quarterback is so expensive to your point. Big fell out to your point. They had no other choice. Kiko, but then I got where did that general magic come from? New England. Where did it hit coach? What philosophy New England? I'm with you. They just don't have Tom Brady. Okay, that's true, but that's their thought process. I'm with you. Dan, the other piece of this is they've still got number 35 pick in the second round. They've got 69 in the third round, a 163 in the 5th round. Do you think Tennessee tries to get one of these quarterbacks? No, I still think that if you're Tennessee, you wait to see if Baker Mayfield becomes available as that fourth or 5th round pick because he's not going to cost you that much money and it's a one year trial. I don't believe that this football team has the number one seed needs to invest a second round pick unless they are committed to removing on for months. I think the second round should be. Let me say this because I think we've gotten a little bit too fast. To think that these day I'm receivers walking out the door ain't gonna matter. Right. Nobody is gonna tell me. What's the matter or AJ Brown leaving? Over playoff games, last year. As the only guy for the Tennessee site, these dudes walk devonte, green bail be fine. How do you figure? It's so disrespectful. I just wanted to make that point, man. And that's a team that really wasn't that good anyway in a lot of ways, especially on one side of the ball. All right, that wasn't the only wide receiver dealt last night when you think about AJ Brown. The ravens sent Marquise Brown to the cardinal's key. You like him in Arizona? I love him in Arizona. I think he fits exactly what they want to do in the air, right? They lose Kristen Kirk, right? Kristen Kirk goes to Jacksonville. But he gives them the same thing. Only he, this past year is more productive than Kristen Kirk. You got AJ green on the outside. You got Deandre Hopkins. So now you got a little speedy dude to lift the coverage for those guys. Kyle and Murray him best Friends. They know each other. It will just be seamless. I'm excited to see it though. I mean, the big thing for me though is if you have the Baltimore Ravens, okay, now what do we do offensively? Yeah. What is going to be our identity? You lost the police and marquise Hollywood Brown that was starting to give you some of the things you expected from him when you drafted him. So now what are you going back to? How are we going to let Lamar Jackson progress? Is it going to be Rashad Bateman on the outside? Are we going to still use our tight ends led by Mark Andrews inside the numbers? I think this is going to be extremely exciting for me to see where the Baltimore Ravens make or take the next step in the Lamar Jackson offensive evolution. I agree. The fascinating part for me, Arizona is how are you going to pay? Hollywood Brown, Deandre Hopkins, and your quarterback. Ah, and but I will say this, okay, on the ravens end, seems like maybe they're not making their quarterback happy on the Cardinals end. He was disgruntled. Now they're.

"The first round to acquire Marcus spears guy defensive end Jermaine Johnson, 26 overall. I was surprised he was still there. They went and got him and it was incredible. He let's go back to Garrett Wilson though. How much can he help Zach Wilson this season the quarterback? I think he helps him a lot. One of the main positions they needed was a receiver. Now you got a guy who can run routes who's explosive, played in a system at Ohio State that was not this, you know, just junk system. It was almost like a pro style system with Ryan day. So his learning curve isn't gonna be as extended as most people think at the museum position. Now you got Corey Davis, you got more. So these young guys can grow together. They just got to learn how to protect Zach Wilson. It keep him healthy. Yeah, I'm a really big fan of this pick, but I'm also a huge fan of what they did on defense and you got to remember this jets defense was the worst in the NFL. Pick any metric. I'll go Devo way, which is an overall efficiency metric, 32nd, just terrible, frankly. Would have been 33rd if it was 33. Have you had some injuries as well, which I think is notable. So I love what they dressed up as I had a ball, but here's what I'll add another statistic. They were 27th an average starting field position on offense. Whenever we talk about young quarterbacks, we talk about fixing the outfits of line and adding receivers, but we forget how hard it is when you have a bad defense that constantly punishes you. So to improve on that side of the ball will actually also help Zach Wilson. That's a great point. And like normal people's speech, Mina is talking about complimentary football guys. She explained it very well. You know I loved it. You know, I love this entire draft. You arguably got three players that could have been top one or two at their position. And they were. Sauce was and Wilson was. But Jermaine Johnson for me. Like Carl Lawson, we heard, Carl Lawson was having a phenomenal camp coming into the season with the jets. That pass rush being at a premium and you think about who their head coach is. You building it in an image. We made the comments about sauce gardener being one of those corners that Robert sala has been around. Now this defensive line is kind of shaping in the poem. People forget, Quinn and Williams is a hell of a football player up front on that defensive line. And now you got Carl Lawson coming back off an injury and you air Jermaine Johnson. I think it's the purest pass rusher in this draft to a defense that will have guys on the back end now that can hold up. I love what they did. Complimentary wise to your point, MK. This was a football entire football team draft. They helped Zach Wilson, but more importantly, they are able to stop people. That's not jumping. We talk a lot about Joe burrows is sent a lot of that had to do with the ascent of the Bengals defense. No, it really matters with these young people. And that defense says that defense continues to get better. The offense can grow. You don't have to rush Zach Wilson. You can win by playing simple football, being powerful on defense and not creating mistakes for yourself on the offensive side of the ball. They got the best corner in my opinion. I know we all love stingy, but for their for what they want to do. They got the best corner, and you think about it. What does Miami have? Explosive receivers. And you got to see. I mean, the division and the conference as a whole just a bunch of receivers running around the AFC. This makes all the sense in the world what they did on defense. All right, so the former jet likes it straight from the jets mouth. The jets actually ended up with three of Mel kuipers top 11 players just to put that into context. Guys, how about this new one NFL live, oh, don't vacuum junior just tweeted this minutes ago. He said, just got the tea from debo Samuel. Should I still? Yeah, you know what? The tea. The tea. Spill it, spill it over. Fill that tea. Why not? I want to know what's going on with that. That's pretty interesting. I think people don't realize how often these stars talk to each other and they compare notes and they make plans. I keep it confidential. Keep in confidence. Okay, okay, just tell me. But he's going to the rams. Uh oh, wow. That's crazy. All right. Straight away, they're star wide receiver AJ Brown to the eagles. Sounds like head coach Mike bravo wasn't ready to see him go. That we went to the extreme to try to try to keep AJ here. Ariel coverage provided by Goodyear from their first step on the field to their first step on this stage. These players have drive. 2022 NFL Draft Picks With Coach Chan Gailey

"On the clock. Number one again. Second year in a row. What are they going to have? Everything. I mean, seriously. Would you be asking for a trade? No. I think that quarterbacks in general have a certain level of cockiness that they need, and they thank a just get us a little bit. We can go in. And you need that kind of guy that believes in himself so much that he thinks he can take the team and get to where it needs to get to, like a Joe burrow. Joe, I mean, he's got some players around him. Just happened this past year that they got it all together. But it can happen in a short period of time that you can put together some people via free agency and draft and get what you need. To make the next step. But I think everybody would be shocked if they didn't take 8 and hutchison and I could see him taking Ed and Neil from Alabama as offensive tackle to help. Right. Because they do have Trevor Lawrence and they want to protect him. But whatever they're playing is do it. You know, don't just get enamored as you said. Don't get the shiny object out there and what just because the pundits say are going to say, God, what a stupid pick that was. If you don't pick the guy, they think you should be. Or make sure that you pick the guy you believe is going to be the best for your team. Well, always

Coach Chan Gailey and Doug Discuss NFL Free Agency

"Free agency, there are some teams that focus draft and free agency. There are some that tend to focus a lot of agency some tend to do draft more than anything else. How is free agency? Affected or does it affect your draft scenarios? Very much so. Oh, very much, so. If you can fill a whole on your football team via the free agency before you get to draft, then you tend not to push a guy in the draft, then he should be. And so, you know, oh gosh, we're desperate for a wide receiver, then you push somebody up a little bit higher than you should, but if you got one in free agency, now you don't have to make that push to free push that guy up the board. And just so we don't lose trying to cause my age. Okay. Going back to quarterbacks for just a second. Right. Personally, I'd rather have Baker Mayfield than any of those guys that are coming out this year. If I were one of those teams, I'd go get biker might feel before I'd take any of these guys.

Coach Chan Gailey on the Current State of Football Coaching

"The one thing you said is sort of interesting to me is the head coach setting the tone. And I think this sort of sets up very well and Dan Reeves is one that people need. I think more coaches should look at his style and how he didn't think he was never the most flashiest out front, but he got the job done. And as we come into a time like this, you talk about learning how to set up practices and other things, you know, the mechanics of football. But Dan also took the time when you said to trust, is that becoming such a, I mean, is that one of the issues that we're seeing now coach with teams and NFL's where your owners, the interplay between coaches, coaching staff, owners is not what it used to be, where you had that central dominant sort of head coach figure. Well, unfortunately, coaching right now is no different than society. It's a society. You know, what's in it for me, what's good for me, so everybody's trying to protect their entity and you have, from when I started in mid 80s to now, I see a bigger disparity between the trust level between front office and coaching staff. And ownership and front office and coaching staff. It's just become more divided rather than becoming more together. And really, right now, the people that have the most patience are the Steelers. And through the years, it's proven out. They've got patients. They've got trust. They found the guy. They believe in and they go with him and they don't bail at the first sign of the adversity and so it's been it's been, it was fun to be a part of their organization for the four years. I was there. And to see them because they, to me, they are really unique right now.

An In-Depth Look at the 2022 NFL Draft

"It. We got NFL Draft this week. Coming up next week. And so we're giving you a preview today of what this strap is going to look like, but I wanted to do it a little bit differently. And I coach Gayle and I have been talking a lot over the last year about football and live and how it all relates. But getting into the specifics now, the draft, I think it's going to be really interesting as we take a look at some of the mechanics behind the scenes. We always see the grand entrance of Roger Goodell coming out and with the first pick in the draft, so and so. And but there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes here. And I want to talk about then get into some of the specifics and how you're judging, you know, I think Chan unit is you're going to see Chan Gayle and I've talked about this for you're judging 20 year olds. And saying, you're making millions of dollars decisions based on 20 year olds. So it's going to be a good time. So Chan, welcome to the podcast. It's glad to have you. Thank you, Doug. It's always great to be with you, especially this time of year. It's fun time. It is good.

Coach Chan Gailey on the Impact Dan Reeves Had on His Life

"You and I have mentioned an individual and he passed away recently a couple months ago. Dear friend of yours, someone that I looked up to because he coached the falcons and in Washington for his nails Dan Reeves. Dan had a large impact on your coaching career as well. I want to just start a little bit because I think mentors and Friends matter in this world. I think we don't talk about it enough. Talk about how Dan Reeves impacted you and football. Well, we talk about him being a mentor Doug. But probably people don't know we're from the same hometown. So he coached us in little league. He was, he was the guy that came back from college and went out and coached us summer baseball and stuff like that. I mean, the town of Americas would shut down when the cowboys would play when I was in high school. So that's the kind of guy Dan was to me growing up. And then he was kind enough to give me my first job in the NFL. And at the Denver Broncos, I went in coaching the special teams. I didn't know anything about special teams. But he trusted me. And I learned right then and there, that trust is a huge thing in the NFL. You need to have people that you trust on your staff. And I learned so much from him about organization about how to implement offense, defense, how to change thought processes of teams, how to organize practice. Things like that that were so foreign to me, not having played in the NFL. It was, it was an unbelievable experience, and he was a great Christian man. So I got to be around a great Christian man who was a great coach and learned from me and my first NFL job. And it was such a

"Millions of espn fantasy players. Need to be confident. They're making the right decisions by analyzing billions of data points. Ibm watson is delivering insights to help them make smarter decisions and to keep espn at the top visit. Ibm dot com slash fantasy football to learn more. Glad you're with us on nfl live. Let's get right to the latest injuries around the league. You need be aware of before. Sunday. what do we need to know. Starting with las vegas running back. josh jacobs. Yeah that's right laura. Josh jacobs has been ruled out for sunday's matchup with the pittsburgh steelers coming off a monday night football game where he left late to toan ankle. Issue for josh. Shake not practice all this week and while the team does have kenyan drake as the next man up in the backfield. Jon gruden their head. Coach was a few in his praise for peyton barbara today. So perhaps barber in kenyan drake busy on sunday. He while bad news for green based various by fourth their best pass really defensive player in their front seven is going to be out for at least three weeks as head. Coach matt laforest. Though set in to i are to shut him down for a while. It's gotten better recently. Knows area smith or at least pre-game who i'm told. The hollywood brown returned to practice today for the baltimore. Ravens trending in the direction of being available for baltimore on sunday night. He's got an ankle. Issue played great among the night with six catches plus touchdown. Unfortunately laura's we'll find out right now. The ravens are dealing with all sorts of injuries. derek wolfe. He's already been ruled out one of their starting defensive line at new l. Left apple ronnie. Staley didn't practice at all this week. Gideo- still questionable. If he is out on sunday night could be all eight hundred villanueva putting from the right side to the left side. He struggled on monday. Night perhaps feels more natural in that left tackle spot. Meanwhile the chiefs have clean bill of health for their roster the ravens all sorts of injury concerns. Yeah i mean not just what you just showed us there. But all the injuries that happened even encamped before the season even started unfortunate for the ravens. But let's stick with this matchup as we begin our discussion on the chiefs and the ravens patrick mahomes and lamar jackson facing off sunday. Night and the two quarterbacks have been the league's best since the star twenty nineteen mahomes holding the highest total. Qbr in the nfl. While jackson ranks second over that span neck and neck and qbr both teams love to bring the blitz but only mahomes has excelled against it as jackson struggled heavily win. Kansas city is brought extra rush or something to watch. That's been a key difference in this. One sided match as mahomes has won all three meetings between the two quarterbacks while posting significantly higher qbr and throwing three times as many touchdowns both teams talked about the rivalry this week to good football teams playing each other. There's always a lot of hype and a lot of buildup to the game. And so we're the battle every year. It seems like or in the play offs. Or whatever it is. It's not about me and mahomes not palatable newest arabia to san lamar success that he's had with that team. Obviously my come down to make place. Happy much every three times pass. I'm not doing a new movie. Come sunday night. The world is watching too fast the youngest. Mvp's early on the other side now. It's time for him to take that next hump and and try to get a win man. Lamar here sammy. Watkins a little honesty. There about lamar jackson. Are you no. It ain't on this lower. He is wrong. Lamar doesn't have to win this game. This is not basketball whereas just five dudes and you're playing against the duty. Your legacy is up for grabs. Because you gotta play offense and defense you could rebound and passionate. Get to do all of those things the baltimore. Ravens have lost to the kansas city chiefs now. Does lamar jackson needs to play well. Absolutely but this is truly a compliment. Because we don't look at any other young quarterback matter of fact. We don't look at any other quarterback in the league and say you know what you gotta beat. Patrick mahomes or your whole life is a fricken failure. That only works for lamar jackson because it is so right because he has done so many great things because he is a league. Mvp because he does have a great regular season record and so now you're nitpicking nitpick nitpick to see what is actually holding him down from you putting him in the pantheon or the tier with patrick mahomes. But there's only one dude that gets to walk around and gets the say to. He's got the better of patrick mahomes and that is tom brady. That is the world's greatest living american. That's the only one everybody else josh allen or all of them losing. So what lamar has. The full is being lamar in the hard part about that. He doesn't have the supporting cast right now. So he's going to have to go absolutely crazy absolutely bunkers straight up superman for the baltimore ravens to have a chance and even that probably won't be sammy. Watkins who did step up week one and some spots needs to step up big with the other guys dealing with injuries. Let's take it to the field because meena if lamar jackson is going to win this game. He's gonna have to have his defense at least limit. Patrick mahomes at times. How do they do that. This is the tricky question. Laura because the ravens even a really strong identity. They play a lot of men coverage and they would slot and last week. It didn't work in large part because of some of the injuries. Marcus peters being lost for the season of you saw mark. Martin humphries questionable would be devastating. Frankly if that happens. And the lost. Chris west three as well in the second half when they blitz derek carr. Qbr one hundred. Okay if you got carved up blitzing by derek carr heads of mahomes is gonna take benny honner. You do not have a player against out weren't going into this. I have to really strongly consider as you've got it back on some of the things you do because you just might not have the personnel to stick to your guns and play the way the ravens have been playing giving one of those volcanoes in the head head. that's got lot on jokes markets. Go ahead listen for me for me is win win decides to blitz because there is no way that he could sit back and watch factor. Mahomes just go down the field. And i think he needs to do an early down jaw. We get so enamored with down and trying to get the ball off the field but we need to try to get patrick mahomes behind the states and look a lot of things you do. It don't matter when it comes to pets mahomes because he don't figure out a way to get around to get over it and figure out a way to make plays. But if if i was going into this game and i put myself in wink. Martindale sues. I'm a play it on third down and i'm gonna try to confuse patrick. Mahomes a few presses early in the game either. That's run blit. Where you can get a i in wales or i intend you cannot let kansas city live in third and two three and give up deep shots by by bringing a blitz on predictable downs. Hey anybody on the ravens. Just take that as a no all right. Well i'm just saying there is a curse associated with this show so for all the cheese cello throwing one more thing before we go guys. Happy birthday to patrick mahomes. Today turns twenty six. His mom waited on twitter. This incredible picture we birthday patrick. Kevin amazing day and year always knew you're going to be a baller. She says a footballer. Surprised love you hashtag west mama. Happy birthday mahomes. Do you imagine your what you bang on your address the light i mean i'm just trying to be great out here..

"That. I think a lot of us agree. The camp would be the best backup in the league. The best backup quarterback if he does get another opportunity he does want to start. But i thought it was really telling that he said he would back somewhat up anyway. And what are you watching for. When mac faces this dolphin's defense i want to he responds to a real challenge. I mean this kids obviously met every challenge that's been placed in front of him so far. The dolphins are unique. They're very good and they're good in a way that i think my kids in trouble a couple things Particular in the preseason week. Three's automatic jones struggle a teeny bit when The giant secondary disguised their intention to throw hold onto the football debt is something. Miami is very good at disguising coverage also basically cracking havoc and creating a lot of confusion with their pressure as well and they're also very good at playing man fourth. Qbr last year and they play a lot of man and if i was defense generally against jones. That's what i'd want to do. Because he's not a threat to take off and the patriots skill players while they are improved. I don't think they're going to separate the way. Some groups are in the nfl. So it's a very difficult matchup for him now. Think given how strong their offense of line is in particular how strong the patriots run game is. I wouldn't be surprised if they lean heavily on that. And do it well against miami. But as far as passing goes for mac jones. This difficult one ryan. How would you look at this from these former alabama quarterback who has the tougher matchup is it mac versus miami or is it to a versus new england. I believe it's versus new england. And i know people are gonna probably say on the back in the miami. Dolphins are better. Think about bill bill taking the pieces. They've added to this defense now and then to the expectations that we're talking about lower has to be better coming in to a second year to talk about. Lower has to push the football down the field all of these different things. We're saying that. He needs to progress in in order for him to be successful as the starting quarterback of the miami dolphins and i think when you start trying to make someone be something outside of what they want to be right now or what. They're comfortable being what they can grasp at this time. You put them in harm's way in the one team in the one coach and no one defense. You don't wanna put your quarterback in harm's way is against the new england patriots and we'll see that week one know that mean when superman dues be looking at each other point that he they look like that spider man spider man. That's what that's that's what the hell and meg jones gonna be looking at. They're going to be like do. I'll look all-too-familiar. One thing we got to remember. Is that black. Brand floor is is a new england patriots guy. They have a great understanding about what each other wants to do and get accomplished again from a defensive perspective into like y'all last year i think it was like twenty four twenty six or something like that but it was only a hundred and forty five yards against the new england patriots. And what did we talk about in the offseason. We wanna see to let it go pull up a little bit more explosive and that opportunity might present itself in this game. Look bill belichick. Put veteran quarterbacks in the spin cycle right. But i think there's there's advantages to having that brand is and that staff who has a great understanding about philosophically. What bill belichick likes to do from a defense standpoint like we we. We know a more in depth and intricate but from a surface level. Everybody out there knows. Bill take wants to take away with you do this. That's the first pro when he steps into a game from a defensive standpoint so that means waddell get saiki grin devante. Parker all of these guys on outside of going to have to make plays 'cause. I tell you this before we ended. You are not going to lie down and run the ball down bill to check defense is thrown that is not going to happen and allowed it for the majority of his career. "Him. Do work see. I'm looking forward to seeing justin. Herbert play against his vaunted washington football teams defense. We both went crazy about both of these. Were just the herbert in particular this season based on what he did his rookie year and watch the football team. Defense based on a lot of people's opinions supposed to carry them to the nfc championship and getting into the playoffs and being able to make noise. Herman got his work. Cut out for him. This has the work cut out for them. Can't wait to see it. Rookie zack wilson against the carolina. Defense zach look fantastic. The preseason starts now he gets to go up again. Brian burns one of the rising young pass. Rushers in the league arising defense overall. That's getting better every year under defensive coordinator phil snow on zach. Wilson is up to the challenge and if he looks good if he did preseason watch out. Let's get to the browns chiefs guys. They have been blown out their last two season openers. The browns by combined sixty two points. That's not exactly what. Cleveland fans wanna hear. Is their team heads to arrowhead. Especially as they get set to play. Patrick mahomes in the chiefs. Mahomes has been otherworldly in the month of september in his career ranking first among all quarterbacks qbr touchdown interception ratio and yards per attempt. Oh and by the way the chiefs ten and those games all right so you're telling me there's a chance maybe anyway time for light decisions provided by. Ibm watson and marcus. Mahomes may be great week one but last night we saw him. He was running for his life in the super bowl. It's why they ended up building that offensive line in this off season around him to protect him. What are you watching for in this one. That's the exact tobel boogie bringing in orlando brown and joe tony and obviously draft and trey smith out of tennessee. Who a lot of people are how on at the garden spot creed. Obviously you see guys here. But you got miles. Gary today cloudy in this cleveland. Browns defense coming in week one continuity it takes a while we all think these guys can play for the can't say cheese offensive land but when you're facing arguably the top pass rusher in the league and myles garrett and also today cloudy a fresher machine and these detachments who can get some push in the center of this defensive line as well. That's the matchup that i'm focused on. Because they're soon as this line. This line for the kansas city teams bill bill rapport and have continuity and all of the communication throughout the course of a game and these guys see real time action when mahomes is protected. He's almost impossible to be. And we think that's what the narrative is going to be this year with the group that they've assembled. I'm just interested to see if we won. They have some issues with communication and being on the same page. If not we talking about tampa going seventeen in old echo. Quite it could literally be the kansas city chiefs in that compensation royal excited to watch the browns defense. I mean we spent the whole off-season talking about the changes investments. They made on that side of the ball especially in the secondary signing john. Johnson safety from the rams teammate troy hill The cornerback. Marcus you and brian. You can't see me right now. You remember him. From the infamous giants practice is back. Rookie greg losing the second. He starting okay so the goes talent. Now we plan offense like the cheese. It's as much about how you deploy that talent as the as the personnel itself like when kansas city comes out in their three by one formation with travis kelsey split out wide. Who's got kelsey who's got tyreek hill. When even on those deep crossers that are so difficult to defend. Those are the decisions that joe woods. Who is the defensive. Coordinator of cleveland is going to have to make and finally now. He has the players to make those decisions. So i'm really excited to see what he does the way. This is troy hill. So i'm actually really excited. That meena bought up that. We'll call it little skirmish because this week. I've been watching swag. I've been watching dan orlovsky. Dan said that you have to go. Hey maker for haymaker with the kansas city chiefs and that's why you can't run football. I don't agree with that. I mean as you guys know. I have 'em in may show now. And i've seen many dropped by getting punched in deliver drop by getting punched indicate. And that's what you get them on the ground bingo and so now if you have kareem hunt and now you have. Trump signed a new deal. Those plays can turn into huge place. Dole's place can turn into points and what happens when you can't stop the run as meena calms mentioned on the production called willy gays. Not there right tyron. Matthew might not be playing so now you can't stop the ruin that's kevin's the fancy gets into play accident which we saw baker mayfield excel at down in the second half of the season last year. So i can't wait to see this run game with the kansas city chiefs who we've never being very physical a dominant against the cleveland. Who are they are physical. They are greedy. They are dominant in. And if you can't stop that then you won't have patrick mahomes on the field to make all of those plays it'd be protected. This game is so interesting from a style and fight matchup. I cannot wait to see what you say. I guess they believe you because you said it. I guess they believe you say it. You go blow for blow your throw the ball all over the yard. So sorta hill put the ball against the bad run defense. That's like ryan said styles make fights matchups. Well we all know. They're going to believe me know when she said it right the rest of us. I'm not so sure she's smarter. Nfl jones making his rookie debut against his former alabama. Teammate sunday. Someone here thinks bill belichick will have something up. His sleeve for the young dolphins quarterback. This guy usually has something up his sleep. Find out what the all that's about next on. Nfl live do own or read your home. Sure you and. I bet it can be hard work. You know it's easy. Bundling policies with geico geico makes it easy to bundle your homeowner's or renter's insurance along with your auto policy. It's a good thing too because you already have so much to do around your home. Go to geico dot com quote and see how much you could save. It's gyco easy visit. Geico dot com today. That's geico dot com kind of next week on sunday. nfl countdown. patrick. Mahomes goes one on one with his former teammate. Alex smith randy. Moss ranks the vast catches. And you got moss kick off week. One with countdown at ten am eastern on espn. And then the fifty. Second season of monday night. Football kicks off on monday with the ravens in vegas. Taken on the raiders. Eight eastern on. Espn abc espn reporters and the espn app. Especial edition of monday night. According to adam schefter murray becomes the fourth running back signed by the ravens this week as they try to fill those voids on their team. Free agent quarterback cam. Newton spoke publicly today for the first time since the new england patriots cut him ten days ago in a youtube live with father. Newton said he isn't retiring and didn't see this move coming from the patriots. Here's more from cam. Do i think this would have happened without me. Being away from team for five days honestly honestly yes. It was going to happen. It was going to happen inevitably did it did it help. Ease the decision. Yes if they would've asked me what i play behind they say. Can we're going to give the team to matt okay. You're going to be the second stream. Expect you to be everything. And some guy. Him throughout his tenure. Okay i was absolutely yeah kale but listen kale. Listen the truth of the matter is this. He would have been uncomfortable. As now mac prepares to go against to He'll get his first career start against to a tongue of loa now. Of course they are division foes and i guess on cam newton. The interesting part is.

"So this is a team that has been banged up and really today had a horrible practice. Losing two players to what is thought to be season ending torn heels. Adam to your point these injuries especially to the running back room have happened in such a short span all happening. The three injuries all happening in the span of twelve days it out tyson williams practice player from a year ago doesn't have an nfl. Kerry becomes the ravens lead back. Is we bring it. Back out to dan and marcus. Here anthony everett by the way a fourth round pick in two thousand eighteen out of alabama would be a candidate to replace marcus peters starting opposite of marlon humphrey that is a huge loss to as much as we talk about the offense on the defense side for the ravens. That's tough for me. I think it's bigger than losing gusts edwards candidate. Because this is a defense you notice big fella that they wanna pressure and they wanna play man coverage in today's nfl. You better have three guys in your secondary corner wise. That can play. That can straight up cover because you're gonna play offenses that are built upon weapons. Right look at their schedule. They open up raiders. Well waller and rugs and renfro. Brian edwards then week two kids city. I don't need to boost up their weapons denver in caja handler jerry. Indie pitman and their tailbacks tight ends. We're talking the chargers. I mean this is a team that is going to in many ways to reshape their identity. Defensively because marcus peters was a corner that you could go. We're gonna pressure on complete lockdown. Man he's going to be good. They can't do that anymore without him. All right what about on the running back side of things. What do they go out and do can they make a trade. If there's someone out there that would make sense. I mean conventionally you think murray after him not taking a pay cut from the new orleans saints. You think that's a guy that's ready to play. Maybe not the greatest fit but right now you panic mode like you you in depth. You need dip until your point with marcus. Peters about the defense is not only about losing a really good player. It's a shot right at the heart of your ski the way you do things from an offensive standpoint with the baltimore ravens is predicated on a lotta guys being in. The backfield is predicated on keeping carries off of those guys like to earth. Yeah especially a and then. You think about wit lamar. It's effective for a lot of guys because of how he plays the quarterbacks the devastating for these guys individually from an injury standpoint missing season. But more with the team you do. Your philosophy is is show. The mostaert told the maybe ronald jones with thirty one other teams trying to figure out what the bottom line. We'll see this ravens.

"Or so until kickoff of the nfl. Season louis riddick markets here that drum rolls for the nfl. We can't wait louis. Let's talk about the cowboys offense when they're on the field. Where's your attention going to be really from guard to guard. Laura what what not they can. Capture the line scrimmage and keep the pocket from collapsing inside out on dak prescott both in the run game on those inside zones inside counters and powers and whether or not they can keep the pocket from collapsing on 'em when inevitably they getting some kind of third and medium the third and longs situation. Because look if they're at full strength that's really from a defensive perspective. What you wanna salt. I between the am begats puts it right up the middle and make the quarterback move off the spot and move lateral which is exactly from dallas. I don't want to do too much. So that's where the focus has to be for dallas making sure that those running back when they're stepping up in pass protection insert firmly in those am beak. Because i can tell you this they get them the third and long third and six thirty and seven plus j. Pp's coming inside. I want to get some of this offense a guard. Who's zack martin. Joe try and saying let me get let me get. Some moncus fears is saying. Hey wait for the cowboys. Let me get some some lou. I mean listen. I it is hard to look at this madge. I've been not thinking about that. Bugsy line but let's talk about the cowboys defense. Because i think even though we know this is a tough match-up for them against this offense. It is a chance for us to see what this scheme looks. Like against dan. Quayle or with dan. Quinn is their defensive coordinator. What do you expect out of the cowboys who listen. I got three kids. And i'm gonna have to eat this first one out because for so long we've screen stop the run right lou. But now it's about limiting run because you wanna force teams to be in loan situations. That's football one on one. So i got three things that the dallas cowboys defense needs to do to give this team and opportunity to win this football game and it can happen like the defense is the part that usually as further alone we start a season now than the offense getting all of their things going so first thing. Limit run okay. The second thing the dallas cowboys needs to do is something. Louis alluded to talking about tampa. They need to figure out how to create pressure in the center of the pocket whether it s with their with their four man rush. Whether that's donald enough. Mike parsons j. Smith using their speed to create problems and get tom brady off the spot. Look here's the reality. And i know. Nobody likes to say anything. Bad about tom brady. The reality is when tom brady has the move. He's bad he's bad quarterback. That's the real. That's what that's what the numbers the stats and when we watch. That's what it tells us. The second thing is in lou. Lou knows this plan on the back of turn football over your outmatched football team. The one thing that you have to hold onto his you need to create turnovers. Give your office a short field. While we know that he's coming back after not playing for a long time and you have to give these guys and opportunity at least at minimum in the possession where the king although they need to turn it into a touchdown. I feel like we talked about that so much. We talked about the things that the dallas cowboys are. Offensively are missing zack. Martin we talked about all of these things defense can help the cowboys win this game. Give those guys handle those three keys. That i just talked to one thing. Though lou is getting pressure on. Brady's easier said than done. He doesn't like getting pressured but it's hard to do it to him. It hadn't happened a whole lot. Yeah you're right. Laura and i'll tell you what they need to get it in a very specific way. Marcus alluded to it. They need to get it from guard. The guard in the nba gap locations. And i'll tell you this really those keys that he put up there on. That screen are perfect and behind each one of them. He should put the number eleven mica limit. Iran's mike parsons makes them tackles assault the pocket and get presser. Mike parsons you're not going backwards and forwards tonight and you're coming up. Amp captain we're gonna scheme up some stuff. Where every time. Tom brady looks up. He's going who in the hell is number leg over and over and over and over again you know telling my innermost on lists right there over and over and over his face and then lastly he's got turn the ball over meaning. Don't just get there get there and take the ball away from him. So i'm telling you i it was. It was always my thought that. Mike parsons really held. The key to this team's season is for a successor failure tonight. he's on the biggest stage. They need him to be big real big in this opening game. Lou you're talking about jersey numbers. They're a little bit with mike. Parsons wearing number eleven. And that may be more key than you realize. Because the league's owners approved a rule in april that allows running back receivers and tight ends to wear any number between one and forty-nine any number between eighty and eighty nine linebackers defensive backs can now. We're numbers between one and forty nine and tom brady. Didn't like it strongly about that. I sell the detail. Those extra guys. Extra work ryan so smart me for him thirty minutes prior. Isn't that much. But anyway i don't want to get into it. I've already talked and nausea about it. I think it's a stupid rule just to be to put it out there one more time. Oh yeah. Tom brady not mincing his words there. Dan is this really that big of a deal absolutely. And i love that lou in marcus. We're talking about. We haven't planned to segment about with mike. Parsons an internal pressure. So everybody knows protection is often the conversation of where's waldo and when you had old rules you were waldo was going to be and you can send those guys now with the different jerseys. There's going to be a lot of different wall does now. If you look protects you the these are four defensive lineman we all know that right and so now we move forward to the jersey conversation because standing over the ball number eleven. Mike parsons now. In the old days you told your offensive line. Hey protection wise. You guys got all the nineties. And maybe number fifties right. Those are your guys offense on. Wanna back block in a big blitzing linebacker. Number eleven was often a safety. or cornerback. right now levin is a linebacker. Do you want your tailback tonight blocking mike. Parsons so you got to pay attention to eleven. The next step is forty-two when he's linebacker silva's who's going to be responsible for forty two and then the next guy's number six safety but then jalen smith words number nine. Imagine being there going. Hey is that sixty nine. Is it the running back. Shares the offensive lineman soap. Where's waldo and who's going to be protection or responsible for those guys protection now. Houston's gonna go where we want our offense ivine to be prepared for mike. Parsons they're responsible. Parties is going to go all right. I'm gonna fake blitz and that defensive end is going to drop these guys actually a good job in protection and kicking butt. Here comes number six. That safety donovan stewart. Remember i told you. Jalen smith is nine. You might tell your offensive line. Don't block six. He's a safety. But you guys got to be responsible for number nine. That's gonna take communication. The texans struggled a pass off and went tyrod. Taylor wants to make that throw. Six comes essentially on blocked. So that's something to pay touch tonight. Now this is the same front right. There's those same defensive lineman mike. Parsons walked up into the football again. Here's kiana neil. That's kiana o.'neil and now there's another sixty but if number thirty two again coach what numbers are guys is it. Eleven is at six nine at thirty two. There's going to be so much more trying to figure out who's who zoo this time. What they're gonna do and this is louis. Marcus we're talking about there. Goes like a parsons. Parsons is going to go. Take that center and try to split him to turn him from being square to making him perpendicular to the line and here comes out wrapping defensive end so mike parsons this time which says instead of dropping there's an internal prussia. I is the quarterback to move. This is a real thing no longer than easy to tell your offense. Have you got ninety. S and fifty s. You're gonna have to say ninety s number eleven number nine but not number six. We got forty two but not number thirty two. This is an issue. It's could be something that the help we can use tonight as a strength and their defense led by number eleven. When you played as long as tom brady is played. Change has got to be hard to adjust to. Let's.

"Espn app download. Now the cowboys will be on this year's edition of hard knocks and we'll try to reverse a recent french. Only one of the last six teams to appear on hard has made the playoffs in that cease. That was the twenty twenty. Rams dallas miss the playoffs the previous two times. They're on the show opened two thousand and two and then again in two thousand and eight. The cowboys might be under more pressure than anyone in the nfl. that happens frequently. Could hard knocks be a distraction for them. No man jerry. Jones is their owner. If anybody or anything is a distraction it would be him. Let's be honest. The cowboys should be on every single year. Like let's let's stop trying to act like this team isn't a soap opera you saw. We said love them or hate them. You can't look away. listen. This team is floyd mayweather. This team is conor mcgregor. It just happens to be a lot of people that make up the organization. The cowboys needs to be worried about stopping people on defense can dan quinn. Get this defense to stop a nose bleed as our colleague bart scott would say it's not about whether or not they have cameras on them every day. Because what team do we cover more. What team do we talk about. More whether they're eleven whether they're eleven and six or six and eleven we will be speaking about the dallas cowboys. Dak prescott is poised. He's healthy. he's ready to go. I believe this team is motivated and if they can stop people on defense. We'll be looking back at this team. Like the twenty twenty rams saying now that there are two teams that were starred or featured on hard knocks. That made the playoff because the dallas cowboys can't do it. Yeah let's rc. is right man. We're talking about the dallas cowboys here. One of the last time you heard a dallas cowboys being distracted by anything we constantly talk about the dallas cowboys. And there's no excuses. There's no excuses when it comes to the dallas cowboys. Listen dak prescott. Got paid ok. Zeke elliott from from what everybody's talking about thousands in his life. We'll see about that. They're getting three office alarm starting off london back so that's the office. Dan quinn is coming in and being a the coordinator. They can't be any worse than they were on defense so they should be better on defense so listen to cameras around not going to always be talking about the dallas cowboys and i'll pick them to win the nfc east and they better not let me down more. They better win. look at them. Look at this team. I mean this is what jerry jones has been building for now. He's got his quarterback in place. He's got a defensive coordinator. He's got the whole deal. They better win and they better not be distracted by the way. I don't think that it's twenty twenty one. I don't think players get distracted by cameras anymore. I mean they got. They got cameras in their faces all the time. They're posting their own content. Like these guys very out about and this. This is dallas. I've been to a lot of press conferences in dallas where they got cameras and these guys faces every second of every access period. No distractions when it comes to the dallas doubles innocent better win. Instagram live take talk. Social media is everywhere to your point tomorrow night. The the twenty twenty one espy's at eight eastern on abc and they presented live from the rooftop of peer seventeen at the seaport of new york city as we continue to look at some of the nominees. He led all rookies zack's bubble recovery's and pressures last season was also selected to the pro. Bowl aren't now. we get to go for one more. Vote here arsia. Let you take the pick. Who you voted for for the breakthrough athlete of the year. I listen. I know this is Nfl live. but i'm going with lamelo ball. If not for any reason that he broke the curse of michael jordan adam morrison kwame brown. Michael kidd gilchrist all those dudes not very good but michael jordan actually got this one right and listen having lavar ball as a daddy and having all the expectations all the is on you and the come out and play this. Well they didn't even want to start lamelo ball at the beginning of the season and this flat out wink crazy. And i don't care to damien. Woody has his hand on his face. We already had to watch big news. We already had to see decay metcalf running at the buddha baker. We have listened to tom. Brady wins another trophy. So if i wanted to pick a basketball player for an award i can do that. I can branch out and do other sports. And so guess. What daime woody. That's right lamelo ball should win this award. He's the breakout player of this year. See i see are fairly figure. This whole thing out see is out in laws way. Is he going to the big the big imminent fight now. He's a big inmates thaw. He's talking about basketball or see is basically like the hell with football. I'm not even going to associate with football. I'm gonna just sport besides on a football so steven herbert. I'm always justin herbert. Because basically just an herb. He started playing with a fat jackson. For from tyrod taylor's put him on the field and last-second and demanding look back ever since and all he did was go out and probably had the best rookie quarterback season in nfl history so joins the winter. But i will give any. I wanna give you clubs on a football so unlike rc. Who's we'll talk about every other sport outside of football football show. What did they gave me two options. These people are up. the award. Headache told me something else. I would have picked something different. And listen just because you played center. And you were in close contact with quarterbacks your whole life don't get everything that's works anymore. You don't have to be the jeff saturday to every peyton. Manning godly green. The heat today are see as we now know has also on his side. Check out our c. And daniel cormier as new show on. Espn plus of the twenty twenty one nfl draft. I thought there was a possibility that kyle was going to go pits at three. And say you know what. No in all seriousness. Because he's such a visionary. I'm telling you. I didn't think it was going to be a crazy thought because you go back to win. New england had the two tight end set and they were doing things totally different. You think about what kill and then you know the thing that makes sense. Is that a. Jimmy's produce all the way. This isn't a production thing. This is an availability thing they mean. "What do you remember about that? I'll tell you what my history, he goes way back. He went to town university, which is about twenty five thirty miles from my hometown. I remember going to see him in college when I was a young kid and then watching him play with my brother in buffalo, when I was in college, and then suited up against them when I got to the pros and with the raiders going man. So I've known him a long time. Look, he was just he was one of those guys was like a machine tremendous. Tremendous condition. Very, very strong after the catch hard to bring down played with great speed and toughness can work inside and outside great report, Jim Kelly. I mean he was just one of those guys methodically you just knew was going to be there for an entire football game and for wide receiver. Like I said he was like tackling running back. He was what does this one of the great competitors? And these I mean he's so deserving being hall of Famer and considering where he came from, and he's one of the great success stories in the NFL without a doubt. Friendly, reminder that Sunday is Father's Day. And because of that we thought we'd take a look at some of the NFL, best father son combinations force. "Happy to have you with us as things continued to heat up in the off season coach, and let's just start with this. You know, we talk about your experience as a quarterback and then you've worked closely with quarterbacks. What's the biggest challenge or adjustment? If you will as sort of being the CEO of an entire system rather than just working with one very important position group. Well, there's a lot more that goes onto your day. But that's not any surprise thing for any of us that are head coaches now. So it's been really exciting. It's been a good challenge. And I think we've got a great staff in place here in the players have really bought in. So it's been good. First couple months here. Lot more jump into before. I do. Let's just get some housekeeping out of the way and that is your quarterback. Andy Dalton he's had some injuries. Where is he coach in his progression? He's healthy. He's been out there. The last couple of phases. And he's ready to go on a great job taking in the playbook being a good leader for us. And again, he's one of the guys that's really bought in. And being a good leader forest right now, Zac, we've seen this as we just saw before we came in here guys who have played quarterback somewhat recently in college. You even spent a year in two thousand sixteen at the university of Cincinnati is their offense coordinator Kingsbury, we mentioned Matlock floor. We mentioned Andy Reid the chiefs coats. So the NFL is five years behind college football. What do you think he means by that? Yeah. They've certainly been very innovative at that level. There's a lot of things you see coming up in the NFL schematically right now that NFL teams are reaching down to the college level. And at times, we think we're inventing it up here. When in reality, they college teams have been doing it for many many years. And so I understand what he means by that point. And he's not wrong by any stretch. There's a lot of great stuff that that we do is every single year when we study those college teams that we use at this level kind of Kenny ask you this. I wonder is there a difference? We talked about the fact that you worked with Ryan tannehill and then Jared Goff. They're young quarterback. So we're at the time, you know, early stages their careers. Andy Dalton a veteran QB eight years, and he knows the ins and outs of the NFL. What's the difference with working with quarterbacks in those different stages? Well, he's seen all the situation. So when you install something new start talking about it from the ground level. He knows exactly what you what we're talking about. He can -ticipant what you're about to say. But at the same time he's eager to learn. Like a young quarterback. So he doesn't try to act like he has all the answers. Even though he likely does you know, he wants to learn he's eager to take notes. He wants to see a new way of doing it. And so that's been really refreshing to see a veteran that isn't stubborn or sitting in his ways, you know, he wants to see a new way of doing things, and we appreciate that as a coaching staff. As Zach, you know, what you're going through the pre-draft process evaluating players, and coaches, look at other other coaches tapes and systems that would have you is there any coach at the college level that you would like to see take a crack at the NFL. Why think a guy I've always enjoyed watching Chris Peterson from the days when he was back at Boise and Kellen Moi Kellen. Moore was the quarterback. And now it's time in Washington. He's always been a coach that I've enjoyed studying the offense of scheme that they employ. I've always thought he's very creative innovative does he really good job game planning and sacking defenses. And so I know I speak for myself. But I would imagine that there's a lot of coaches in the league that feel the same way about Chris Peterson got a takeover situation where Marvin Lewis was was there for sixteen season..

"So this is how the Palm Beach county is going to handle this. And of course, next up is going to be with the with the NFL is going to do how they're going to handle his his an April twenty fourth quarter appearance. He doesn't have to actually be present their force at twenty four is the day before the NFL draft, obviously distraction that this New England patriot organization does not want. But now that that David is out there, and it is public on not only is it just such a blemish on this New England Patriots organization, but a Masuma quite embarrassing for Robert Kraft at this. We'll come back. There's there's a lot more to come on this. I want to hear what else you're here for other people around the win the press coverage right now breaking from our Adam Schefter ravens and born better wide receiver Michael Crabtree that he is being released today. Her source. Let's get on court in this Ryan, wha what's your reaction to this news today from Wellesley you go out? Get Michael Crabtree off season. But then you look at the way that this offense was rolling with Lamar Jackson wasn't really a pass happy offense. He had a case of the drops this season Willie Snead. John Brown vote outplayed him, and they have some tight ends that's made some place for the March exit which I think is what he'll do allies more inside the numbers inside the has kind of passing the ball in the middle of the field rather than outside. They felt like Crabtree was expendable. I mean, the reality was he didn't play up to the number their plan. They have younger guys that they can kinda invest into and actually perform better than crabs you when you get that age. They are looking for big number big production. They view this as a signing that would help get them over the hump. It did not do that building around the Mark Jackson. My crap is not a part of those plans need to get more receiver help at this point. What do you think which which is what I think it depends on the way that you're going you John Brown stretch the field last year Willie Snead made huge plays on third. And this is a rushing attack is going to be about protecting. Lamar Jackson won re he needs to give a fake and get the ball out of his hand much like art RG..

"Michael Thomas, he makes combat catches. He turns it into a misfit at the line. He is more physical than his defender, and that can carry you throughout seizes into career other than the Andre Hopkins to me, I've watched him make more combat catches than I've seen any other receiver make over the last two or three years or so Michael Thomas's appear number one. He's a guy that's going to earn his money. He's a guy that deserves to get the big payday and in terms of what he brings the locker room. I remember talking to players on the saints right before the NFC championship game getting specifics from the offensive line from other receivers. What what is it about Michael Thomas? We can see it on tape. But what's he like behind the scenes and one of the receiver said every single practice when we're supposed to be going through. Let's say walk through jogging the guys running and sprinting, I kinda hate him because of it. But. But at the same time, he sets the standard in New Orleans of how these guys should work. And that's why I know Sean Payton a Mickey Loomis they wanna pay this guy. Quickly be paid the highest of any receiver in the NFL Haya works, you rotate around your turn guy. He's the next guy in top five conversation. He's going to get that type of money and the most epic celebration with the cellphone come on. It was three hundred twenty one career receptions, which is by far the most of any player through their first three seasons in NFL history. So this guy the performances you've been putting on it is historic. Welcome back with breaking news on NFL live. You know, by now patriots, Robert Kraft is facing two counts of soliciting. Another to commit prostitution police said there's video craft inside. A Palm Beach county massage parlor spokesperson for said categorically deny the measure crap engage in any legal activity. So for more on the story. Let's listen in now to Palm Beach county state attorney is Dave ehrenberg just moments ago on Friday, February twenty-second Jupiter. Police department gave us case filing packets stemming from their prostitution sting after review by our intake. Prosecutors we are charging twenty five individuals with soliciting another to commit prostitution. Any of these other twenty five twenty four men, and I can assure you that our office treats, everyone the same. Whether you have a lot of money, or you are indigent we treat all defendants say the same and no one gets any special Justice in Palm Beach county. More arrested, Tom from other similar businesses within county will hard to say because the investigators are the Jupiter police, and then you have the Martin county sheriff's department, you have Vero beach this multi county effort, and so it's hard to say if there more arrests based on their investigations, but I was asked earlier today about rumors about bigger fish. And I I said that that would be news to me. And I also added that you know, it's hard for me to talk about rumors, especially false ones. Police with two counts and miss arrest is the rest affidavit probable, David. Are you charging him with two or is it consolidated.
