New York Giants Confirm Saquon Barkley Tore ACL, Out For The Season

"There are terrible injuries all over the NFL yesterday alone. Nick. Bosa. From the niners Saquon Barkley from the giants both suffered torn ACL statistics show that through two weeks nfl record twice as many significant injuries as last year. It's actually at least six players suffered a torn acl including just recently Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin Eleven, injuries to starters in the one o'clock games alone John Do you think these injuries have something to do with the fact that there were no preseason games. Well. For example, the Rams don't play any of their starters in preseason games I think is in the spirit of your question i. think it has something to do with no camp no real camp they kind of shotgun training camp and I don't know how you could make the opposite argument that it has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't tied to preseason games what I would do it to the fact that there was very little tackling. Yes in. The game started and the other thing is I know Kyle Shanahan the niners felt like the field wasn't ready like the field I think he played in the meadowlands and he's got play there again next week because he played the jets and now he's GonNa, play the giants. Players on both teams going down. So I don't necessarily think that the facilities were one hundred percent prepared either I think again, I think the spirit of your question is the fact that they fast tracked everything and started the season. Because of Covid is that having any do with the injuries I don't know how you could say it doesn't I think it has to yeah. I mean I I completely agree I mean between training camp and preseason games where guys at least get a sense for what they get a reminder of what getting hit is like. I think they're I think they would be better off. It is an extraordinary number of injuries and none worse than Christian McCaffrey who's gone for four to six weeks and his the stalwart of my fantasy team just loyal to John Ireland how about? Yeah. I cleaned your clock thinking Matt Ryan. But. How about how about Saquon out for the year? Yeah. Entirely out for the year Bosa gone for the with a tornado. And that means that the giants I. It might be a race between the giants and the jets who the worst team football is. The whole new. York City area has to just garbage football teams because the jets are a mess and now the giants have no running game. So it's going to have it's going to have after-effects. All these

"I would definitely stash them but don't cut a player you really high on all right and rounding out kind of disappointments or panic type players will fuller. Sammy Watkins any comments in any of those guys to injuries and what the Heck is going on with rob? Gronkowski. Cut Him. He's not roster for sure cutter Bali. Absolutely grant just had one target in a game with Chris Godwin all it's safe to cut Rob Gronkowski? Yeah. He's just not the Gronk of old which you know he's thirty one coming off a major injury, your football, not all that surprising tyler you called but yeah, get rid of GRONK. If you're looking at roster bubbles crocus gone if you're looking at picking up someone on waivers, he's nothing more than a big name from the past move on from Rob Gronkowski, alright you guys let's move. Into waiver wire ads talk about her top five or just who are in our top five or how you do it yeah. Let's run through them. Quick I'm sure they're going to be similar in some type of Order I. Think Mike Davis is my top add this year this year this week. Yeah. Mike Davis my my top and then Darryl Henderson Russell. Gauge Josh Kelley and a tie in fifth with men shoe Tannahill Hill both of them have to be rostered and they're only rostered in like twenty percents. Yeah. I agree with all those. For, me my number one pick up those Joshua Kelly from the chargers he had twenty three carries last week you only had sixty four yards on the ground and totally at twenty five touches for over one hundred yards counting his receptions in his receiving yards only owned in twenty, six percent of leagues. But they gave him twenty five touches in a game where they ended up going to overtime with Kansas City like he was a factor in a big primetime game for those guys. The one two punch of Ecuadoran Gordon coming back with. Kelly instead of Gordon. The best thing that you miss there that he has eight red zone touches those are the high value touches gotta get those and Josh Kelley has it I. Like it agree I completely agree with Mike Davis to he's going to be a hot commodity obviously with the news for Christian McCaffrey GonNa be really important to pay close attention to what teams are working veteran running back. So because there's going to be a couple of familiar faces getting signed this week absolutely I think for me it's Mike Davis James Robinson. He's not owned one hundred percent of leagues, but James Robinson is owned like sixty one percent right now if he's not owned, you need to own that guy he is legit demure bird a wide receiver from the Patriots is worth looking at Corey Davis and then for me the last one is Mo Alley Cox tight end for the colts. If Jack Doyle has out again, this week is a must add said because they played the Vikings. It's the fact that Philip Rivers Lakes to throw a tight ends and the Cox's six foot eight. Yeah. I don't mind Mo- Alley Cox I perfer though Dalton Schultz Andrew sample for me I mean look at what the.

Ravens extend regular-season run, dominate Texans 33-16

"Texans offense is trying to figure out itself average three yards, a carry, and the Ravens they've just picked up where they left off I mean the January playoff exit was ugly but through two regular season games we are now coming on. If, you combine these two regular season games with how they finished and really perform the entire regular season. Last year. This is one of the great dominant runs September through December that I can remember any team having. No argument there I saw some something today that. It's like, wow, the ravens have gone taken what they did last year and they've gone another three steps. Let's slow down. That's one of the greatest regular teams I've ever seen like you're not going three steps further but continuing it and adding new elements to it and playing a little more consistent defense from week one on which they were not last year. Is GonNa, make them so hard to be, and they play the chiefs next week a little too early in the season for my taste, but it should be fun. I mean I. Think one issue is Lamar Jackson, like if were if you wanted to point to little elements of his game, the needed help them up I mean he's gotten distinctively better over two off seasons and. Around half time and I was kind of tracking this off on the side, I was thinking looking at their boxcar thinking they're not really running like it doesn't seem like they're dominating. They didn't have one hundred yards hundred and fifty yards rushing in the first half. It was like a little bit off and then at the end of the game. They have two, hundred, thirty plus yards on the ground I mean they they really come. So easily they can do everything they did a year ago they just throw in JK Dobbins you throw in a couple of other guys. They simply have more weapons so I think last year is last week's game against Cleveland was absolutely authentic. Today's game is absolutely authentic. This is who they are. There's probably one or two teams in the League that could touch him right now.

Quarterback Jeff Driskel threw two touchdown passes, including one to running back Melvin Gordon in the fourth quarter school in the pocket floats. One up is that Gordon in the end zone, Gordon goes up makes the catch and he's got a Denver touchdown, Driscoll says. Even though back Quarterbacks don't get a lot of reps in practice. Trump Approves Deal Between Oracle and TikTok

"So. I don't know what's going on. With TIKTOK. Today this morning. was supposed to be the morning Tiktok was turned off and we chat to both owned by Chinese company Bite Dance. The. The idea. The US Commerce Department said Nope because it's Chinese and you know. You know. You know it's a it's a threat to our great national sovereignty or something. I don't really understand honestly the Chinese could spy on. US I. Guess. I guess or then then some who are a little more nuanced say well, it's not that they're just like our location. But they could propagandize us. Oh, you mean like facebook. Yeah. Like that. They don't. They don't need Tiktok they've got facebook. Anyway, the this has been going on and on and on and back in. August. He's the president said forty five days to. To Sell Yourself to American. Company. Microsoft and Walmart were bidding. So was Oracle, which is a big database company not really widely known among consumers but. A A very popular database for reasons no one understands fully in enterprise because it's not it's terrible but anyway, it's. It's been here a long time. I think it's really why it's so successful its owner Larry Ellison has become one of the wealthiest men in the world is busy bidding building building big yachts bigger than other people's yachts. That's what that's what you do. If you're a billionaire, you just build I, want my yacht to be bigger. Mr Ellison is also a supporter of the president and has held fundraisers and I think that helped a little bit. Because last Sunday. Microsoft said Yeah took talk. Told US we're out. An Oracle said, we didn't buy it but we are a tech partner and Walmart said I'm switching teams. I'm now with our Oracle okay. Between the two of them. Oracle and Walmart will have a a minority stake. In Bite dance by giving them some amount of money. For stock or something. and then it's so complicated. It turns out that that because bite dance has I think something like forty percent of its investors are in the US. They're adding that to the walmarts oracle stake in the commerce. Department says good. That's a majority. So, it is now on majority US owned the president said. All right. That's good. So he's approved this bid. In concept. He also says. this new company which will be called Tick Tock Global. This and so he's going to put the ban on hold for a week. TIKTOK global will also give five billion dollars in new tax dollars to the US. Five billion with a B. to set up. A new education fund is really a propaganda fund. The president has put together to teach children. To I don't know what loved your leader anyway it's Oracle take a twelve and a half stake in TIKTOK. Global Walmart tentatively agreed by seven and a half percent twelve makes twenty percent. And five of four of the five board seats will be filled by Americ- Americans. And then the courts. The the US judge in California has issued a preliminary injunction saying you can't ban we chat. Did you see his need bent in a really strange when he came back and finished that game in that loss against the Cardinals? He was just ruled out, so I don't think it's on your hot list. Okay. What else do we see Anything else of note? I saw it last night, The Bangles tied and CJ Zuma. Zuma has a torch Achilles. He's out for the season cold. Starting, Jack Doyle is out against the Vikings. Jamison Crowder for the Jets is out against the 40 Niners. As you mentioned Adam, the Lions have ruled out Kenny Golladay. Cornerback Desmond Trufant and guard Joe Doll. Free money Packers No tackle Kenny Clark is out for lions. I got to tell you, I think that the injury reports are lighter than I thought they'd be after one week, especially with no training camp, but

"Question. How did he do? Okay. So here's the thing about Joe Brown. This is why I think you like him so much. Oh, it's a really great quarterback that just plays hockey team. So he's like your deck Prescott your a bitch. I thought you were like the light bulb in my head went off last night when I was watching it. I was like, well, he's a good little quarterback like Dak Prescott. He just plays for no wonder Jasmine likes them so much. By the way, I have you know you Optimus Prime Don the word shity so it cut out on you said shity team. That's all right. I show you going to say that we were going to like look we could be an item now. I'm just disappointed. Oh, I'm sorry. Now he's to you guys wouldn't match very well. He's back to blonde hair doughy eyed, you know, he still has his dreams and happiness. I was just that his way too innocent for you. You know, you just strip him of all of it off. I would fare. I tend to do this with all men though. Let's be real I tend to slowly take away their hopes dreams, you know their desk for Life their happiness any kind of happiness life. It's it's what I do to all the men that are in my life. Okay, so so that's your analysis which fuck off so that's no that's my analysis regards to jobber. Okay, my analysis in regards to the Browns. All right. Here's the thing about the Browns obj less. Always he had headlines Amy. Okay. This team has a boss ass offense page. There is no reason why they shouldn't be scoring touchdowns all the fucking time. I mean think about the players that they have Nick Chubb Fremont who both went off last night Jarvis Landry. I mean you couldn't get you can get that is a fantasy leagues dream right here, right? Yep. There is no reason why this team shouldn't be amazing because you know what their defense is really cool. Good to this team should be really competitive and making the playoffs and they're not understand now Grandma, who knows what's going to happen tell you what happened last night watching this game Baker Mayfield just he changed into a different person. Like when he like a human in a good way in a good way when he came off the field. He didn't go and sit down on the bench. He stood on the sidelines and watched his defense playing and then he I mean he rallied those guys. He was not going down to Joe burrow. I mean, you could totally he's like, there's no fucking way. This guy's going to show me up and there's no way I'm losing to the fucking bangles and you know what he totally carried his team. He really truly did stepped up it was offensive. Now if they can do that every single weekend this team is really like it has all the weapons that it takes to be a fantastic team which made me. Made me Ponder the fact that there's some teams that you just expect to lose and then there's some teams that you expect to win like the team's you expect to when you expect the steel real attacks right now. You expect the Cal you expect to win. You don't expect the Lions or the Bangles or the Browns. I mean the low-hanging fruit, you know, you don't expect those teams to win. So when they have when they have rosters long, the Browns have their own turning into a team that you they should be winning with what they have. So it sounds to me that the Browns are basically like if you're looking at it from a fantasy league point, it's the guy in league who basically cheese his way to get the best team because everybody else is internet either sucked or they were on auto draft or they forgot there was a draft right? That's the guy in the if you're equating it to a fantasy team roster birth. Okay. Number one. I liked it. You know I prematurely said shut up about the Cowboys cuz I thought you were going to say that you expect them to lose and I like that you're saying that you expect them to win because that's what you do you absolutely suck. Oh you that's what we do problem. That's where we are a we are an elite Lord team. Anyway, that's what you're going with I am. Well, I don't know the baker Mayfield is still a shitstain to me so good for him rallying his team. He's still a shitstain. I do love his Progressive commercials their home like the latest one. Yes. They are the latest one where he's like. Oh, it's getting ready to rain. Help me cover the furniture. And two guys like you mean the stance he's really good in those commercials. If you could only be as good a quarter as he is in those commercials. We would be set the dog pound would be set. Well, we are you a dog pound or now. I mean, I you know, I have a soft spot for the Browns just cuz they always lose. And ever since that movie came out draft day with Kevin Costner yet. Oh, I'm out. I'm done with you. done with you Amy. Your brown spot is showing. I know I know you know, I just I'm weird that way I don't understand it. Either it is I don't either try to figure you out every day and I just you know, I do too and since I'm like, oh I get myself today and then sometimes I'm like now he's nope don't understand myself today, but that's okay. That's most of us as well. Amy. So rest assured you're not in Company by yourself. I think it is twenty-twenty it is. Okay. Well that's sad because now Joe burrow Hollow be his name Falls 200 and two. Yeah, it does and but you know what this guy he's he's a good quarterback. He is is there he should be in his helmet I think time to get mr. Guys. Sometimes he tries to carry his offense which isn't great because then he gets pummeled by pencil like he got pummeled last night several times. Well, you sure. Why does LSU brain sure what he's trying to win? And I totally get it. But at the same time he needs careful because you know, oh, he's a starting quarterback in the NFL. Well getting them know and you just see a lot of what he was doing at LSU that worked and I think you know like every rookie has this learning curve right where you come out transition from college to the big leagues and it's like, oh, okay, it's funny cuz I was like really different style of football right? I said to Bruce last night. I'm like, surprised that they just threw this guy in the deep end. I mean they just started. Oh totally, I mean, they didn't granted he dangles. What else do they have? I'm. That's the problem. They don't have anything else but you know like places in my where to get backing up Fitzpatrick that makes sense. It makes sense for him to kind of, you know way into the NFL same thing with Dwayne Haskins, you know, he he was back up for a while until he kind of learned his name. Yeah, now Joe girl, man. They just threw him in the deep and they're like here you go, bro, you go bu. Yeah. Well, you know what gotta he is trying I mean, he's playing his ass off out there. No he is but he is and that's why I'm like super team Joe burrow like we gotta do this man. Like I'm telling you. It's the stogie. We'll do it get this guy that mean that you're a Bengals fan know how fucking no. No, I like. Oh bji in a Browns fan. I like Joe burrow Ina Bengals fan, you know, I will always bleed silver and blue Amy. That's the only color I would leave home. Anyway, let's move on to the Chiefs. Okay, love us and Pat Mahomes you love some Andy Reid do that cheaper mofo back, right? So Andy Reid's big old windshield mask that he had on. When was it last week? I can't remember. Yeah. We're only in week to segregated windshield wipers. Yeah, so people were like what the hell and so like it was fogging up. You couldn't see shit, but this may be a thing. This may be a thing coming to a coach near you because off on the first Sunday of the NFL season when this happened several coaches were seen either one not wearing masks or to not wearing them properly because the mask police were out and the league is not going to stand for that. It's currently vice president of football operations. Troy Vincent issued a memo this week saying protocol requires all individuals with bench area access including coaches and members of the club medical staff to wear face coverings at all times failure to adhere this requirement will result in accountability measures being imposed against offending individuals and or clubs. However, Amy, there is no word on what those accountability measures will be so that to me that phrase is what kind of sticks out to me. What does that mean? do you do find them? Probably I mean you can look dead. Here's the thing. They're coaching on the sidelines of talking into Mike's they have to be able bird they have to be able understood. It's really hard for all of the to happen on your face plus all these guys are around each other all the time. They're all you know, I practiced together around the field. They're hitting each other all in each other's faces, you know, I mean and how many people have tested positive since the start of season one? Yeah. They did a very good 2700 players so very good job with with that right off because like you said, they've been implementing measures. They've been following the rules, you know, they've been testing a lot, you know, we got into this, you know leading into this actual season. Jeez, how many coronavirus updates that we talked about on this podcast about hey, this is what the League's doing. This is what they're making them do kind of thing. So something is clearly working. It's really great to see that that's positive news that you know that they're only seeing that wage. Chat, I think I that they should I really think they should go with a handy read mask to be quite honest can still see the coaches face. The microphone can kind of be up underneath it. So they may be able to understand what the coaches saying and and you're shielded. You know, when somebody comes up to your face, you know, I mean, think that that's fine but having to wear them like when it's just, you know covering your face in your nose again, like it's hard for me to understand people when they're wearing a mask and talking to me. Yes, I mean, so imagine imagine being on the field the quarterback coaches saying the guys in booth coordinators up in the booth are trying to understand what the guys on the field coordinators on the field are trying to say, I mean, it's just it's a it's crazy. So it's a shitshow you gotta be able to walk. You gotta be able to your job. I would take that looking like I've got the windshield of a Camry in front of my face the whole time vs Lee having something on my mouth cuz that's frustrating me. Yeah. Give me the telephone number. Windshield all day long over the you know, suffocating face masks which by the way speaking of Tesla. Did you see that their reports of some them being janky like getting like parts that were like really cheap shity on some of the Tesla's that were falling apart marvelous. I know so yet twenty-twenty doesn't happen. Just wanted to put that in there for you. All right coming up next in offsides, you know fall like we said is upon us. Although you wouldn't know here in Texas. It's still like an anus outside but here's something for your home that will make it fall feel less anus e okay Mom handles some new ones that are coming out and they're actually already out and we'll explain to you with those candles our next. All right, let's get into offsides and we've got some candles to tell you about so Amy, yeah, you know football's back. So if you want to get a little piece so that game day experience at home along with fall. This might work. Okay. I know you love candles. There's a company that's owned by Anheuser-Busch call Babe wine. They just created three football scented candles one smells like an artificial turf field. "But Marcus which matchup are you most interested in for this one? Foot convincing the wisdom would tell you Patrick Mahomes in general but Clyde Edwards Allaire ls through its debut. For, this against those linebackers from the Houston Texas, we've talked about it this week they'll play man we know what Kareem Hunt did in his first game in a chief uniform in how India reuse them to the summer to forty cloudy was. Of, course you talked to who I I want to see how they're gonNa match-up defensively against Travis. Kelsey? If it's read their safety one on one, maybe try to claim in some zone. He's a smart enough player to sit in spots in each you up and then if you try and double team, it doesn't matter at all because he's a craft. Runner how do you slow down? Indoor Stop Travis Kelsey to the Texans Defense you know for me it's Larry Toss the big defensive big offense alignment left was traded from Miami Dolphins to the Houston Texas big money sixty, six, million dollars fifty of a guaranteed to protect the hundred plus million dollar quarterback in Deshaun Watson I'm watching you victim tonight but he? And the Houston Texas, a lot of production to replace with the Andre Hawkins now playing wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals and our Murray. So is it going to be willful in that steps up? Is it going to be Randall cobb that steps up is going to be brandon cooks deck wod injury is going to be somebody else but somebody has to replace all the production they're missing training the Andre, Hopkins and tonight we finally Super Bowl Mvp Patrick mahomes back in action. It's been two hundred and twenty one days since the chiefs wanted all in Miami feels like a lifetime ago doesn't it? Was Electric especially, win Kansas City, trailed in the playoffs in fact Patrick mahomes accounted for twelve touchdowns last postseason that's passing and rushing sutton NFL record in the playoffs and it's even more ridiculous when you consider that all ten of his touchdowns through the air came after his team had thrilled by double digits he led his team to a super bowl victory after an MVP camping twenty eighteen making him the youngest with those accolades under his belt at just twenty four years. Old. Now, our football power index projects the chiefs to win by at least ten points making them by far the heaviest favorite. We've one matchup building some disrespect in my opinion to the Texans but Dan will this be a blowout tonight like FBI says it will no not not at all first of all they played twice last year the Texans beat them once they scored thirty one in both those games, and if we're being honest the Texans, controlled both of those games. Obvious. Seen the first one, and then the division around that was on coaching they opened the door for that monumental comeback. But the real biggest point I would say is this the chiefs secondary for shot bruins not playing and they don't have a backup that's got a ton of experience I believe or shot vent in their sixth round pick from that is going to get the first opportunity but the ball went over their head a lot last year especially, not first game three. Of them were dropped touchdowns. So we've seen the Texans offense had success against them will fuller catch the football you're gonNA have plenty of opportunities downfield, but there were so many big place through the air on net chief secondary last year when these two teams met and bre shot brilliant is not playing tonight that gives me an idea that Houston can be even more explosive than they were the first you match ups last year there's going to be a good football game tonight. I think it's I think it's the showing Watson having to be Superman and I I don't think it's going to be particularly close when you think of NFL terms listen. We know how good the Shawn Watson there's. Shifty said it the under Hopkins is gone and regardless of the hundred hopkins making catches going over one hundred, your scoring touchdowns he still was a presence on the field you had to pay attention to, and he demanded that type of respect. So what Dan just pointed to ball's going over the secondary head all of those things are influence when you have a dominant receiver out there. I'm looking at this game is saying there is no way for Houston to win it unless Deshaun Watson light we seen before turned superhuman and does some things out of his mind couldn't happen yes. Because we've seen it but bottom line is Patrick mahomes superman as well. He's going out there with the better team I mean both of them are Superman and I think the question was. More about is going to be a blow out Marcus and I don't think it's going to be blood. I think the game is going to be high scoring and there's a number of reasons why you gotta factor in the weather conditions not only the weather condition is much like a man Dan was talking about in the secondary guys are missing, but you think about think about camp. This is not real football camp. It's not traditional. It was Kinda like I dunno touching go flag football. So to speak, you didn't get preseason games. A lot of people don't play preseason, but you still need some sort of rips. The first time that teams will take the field tonight. So you're GONNA see guy falling down blown assignments, things like that, and he's too high power scoring. is in much like you said, Houston scored a bunch of points and Arrow in the past couple of times that they've been there so has Kansas. City and the weather will play a factor yet quick weather report they're saying it's going to be high fifties chance of rain by the time that the kickoff happened. So in the next four hours or so. It's actually raining right now we showed you those shots at the stadium earlier I want to get to you on this keyshawn because the last time these two teams played two, hundred, forty, two days ago Houston blew a twenty four nothing lead I realized that that was nearly eight months ago but does that game and that action in the playoffs factor in tonight. It does from a coaching standpoint the not the players it's out of the players mind. But when you are up twenty one donut, you got a chance to go up twenty eight doughnuts and you settle for feel it changes things if you go up twenty eight to now all of a sudden Andy Reid and his coaching staff have to figure out how do we come from Twenty eight down twenty four? Okay. We can figure that out. We got some plays for that twenty eight nothing. It's a different game plan going into the second half opposed to what they did to come back in hang that fifty one. Yeah. The chiefs are setting out to become the ninth to win back to back super bowls the first since the two thousand, four Patriots later on, we give you are super bowl picks in the show stay. Tuned for that but let's get back to Adam schefter. What else should we be watching for tonight couple things things number brandin cooks, the new Texans wide receiver listed as questionable with a Quad Quadri? I'm told they're going to take him out on the field pre-game running around see how it feels and make a decision then about whether or not he'll be acted now somebody said yesterday they were leaning more towards. Him playing than not playing again they WANNA test in pre game to make sure he's able to play or not play Patrick Mahomes we know signed that four hundred, fifty, million dollar extension of season the richest contract in the history of sports. The chiefs of taken the rare unusual step according to field yates of taking out an insurance policy on Patrick Mahomes and that contract in the event anything were to happen teams. have done it before, but it's not all that Combo. You got a contract worth four, hundred, fifty, million dollars. You take insurance out and that's exactly what the chiefs have done according to field. Yeah. Let's check. That's a lot of money. So four hours, eleven, minutes, and some seconds away from kickoff of the twenty twenty NFL season. Let's get back to Sheffield with the very latest around the League on some important. Injury updates starting shefty with wide receiver Mike Evans Tampa the Laura for a second straight day Mike Evans, did not practice today due to that hamstring injury considered a game day decision about whether he'll be able to play the bucks regular season opener against the saints obviously want the Tom Brady but there's a question with Mike Evans and the Hampshire right now miles sanders eagles running back was a limited participant in. Practice today for a second straight day. No practice for all John Jeffrey Jalen Rigor. Their first round draft was a full participant in practice date and the broncos was bond Miller or the week to a potentially season ending ankle tendon injury suffered another injury in practice today courtroom Sutton went down slipped the field hurt his shoulder. We are awaiting the severity of that injury as we speak will bring you the very. Latest as comes in Kenny Golladay, the lions wide receiver basically was held out of practice today mattress cities nursing a hamstring injury. He suffered yesterday.

"The bears have two quarterbacks with easily the largest drop off and total qbr. Twenty eighteen to two thousand nineteen, among all quarterbacks who had at least one hundred passes in both seasons both foles and Trubisky quarterback ratings dropped by over thirty points in that two year span. Here's what Matt. Nagy ongoing window. This morning had to say about his team's quarterback question. They are literally getting an amazing fair chance to win the starting quarterback job for the Chicago bears, and and so how do you do that? We need to make sure and that's what we're doing right now that when we script these practices, it's a fair competition with again. What what reps they're getting how many they're getting! We have to create more reps in practice so that we can evaluate it. There's not going to be a day that goes by that. They don't understand or hear pure honesty from us, and then when you do that, it makes us so much easier that when you make a decision. They know the why part. There has been you know relative. Sort of forthright conversation about this from the get go. What does this mean for the bears QUARTERBACK BATTLE FOUR CHICAGO? Quite honestly I know that we look at the situation with Trubisky, and and say which one will it be at the end of this season emerging as ultimately the team starter I mean not to be cold. Hearted here, but I would call massive success if the bears have a clear starter at the end of this season, I understand the legacy of Nick, foles, as it pertains to the eagles that will never go away, but quite frankly we still do not have enough of a body of work from foles as a starter to. To know exactly what he is an we talk about his familiar artery with Matt Nagy and twenty sixteen with was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City and falls was playing there, but he only played three games during that season albeit in a pretty solid fashion I just don't know that we know enough about falls in the system, nor do we necessarily know enough about foles as starting quarterback, even though he's been around for such a long time and such familiar name to say that he's the clear guy in this situation. Well, I was at the last nick. Foles victory I was at the double point game and I can tell you after that game I saw grown men in tears with the Double Dunkin and foles ability to to manage a team in certain situations i. feel like that is a winner. And when you have on your team, it brings the best out of everybody else look. trubisky has been there. He's been there awhile. We know what he is nick. Foles has done some miraculous. Miraculous things in the past now last year he got, he broke his collarbone. Is that his? No, it's not I think that they would have had a different season last year. If Nick foles not break his collarbone so with an off season. That is weird and look at all this stuff going on. We don't know what's going to happen with Training Camp I. Get it, but I think that nick. Foles is a better quarterback for what they want to do as a team. Louis if that's the case and either way, Nick foles is the new arrival here. Why is he a good federal, potentially a good fit for this nagy offense? There's two components to be a good fit right Wendy there's the relationship aspect. It's the familiarity aspect that nick has that with Matt Nagy and Remember Madison? A disciple of Andy Reid Andy Reid was the one who drafted Nick foles when we were all together in Philadelphia so. By relationship there, but mat knows exactly what he can do on the football field, the kind of things that Matt it's GonNa. WanNa, do schematically fit with Nick can do mets GonNa want move. The PUCK WANNA use plaques on first down. Appeals on one of change, the launch point and get people out on the printer. He can do that. He's when I attack the middle of the field with isolated matchup with receivers in the slide. Can do that navigate the pocket. Put the ball on time and a good spot for wide receiver, the catch and run mets gonNA WANNA take shots down the field on third down. He's GonNa want to attack outside the numbers he did that he did that. In the first game of the season against Kim city chiefs last year before he got hurt and you saw he put it right on the money. So look it would be a shock. It will be an upset. Nick, foles `ISMs disorder to me and I have been as big a supporter of Mitch. Trubisky, as anyone, probably the number one support without a doubt, it will be a shock to me if nick foles is not the starter because of the familiarity aspect, and because of how motivated Nick foles is to play this season improve. I didn't come in here to be. Anybody's bridge would be anybody's backup or to support anyone else I'm a super bowl winning quarterback and I'm GonNa take this team. Team as far as I can possibly take it, and that starts by me winning this quarterback job, which I expected to do both Nick, foles, and Mitchell, trubisky as we mentioned before have a forty nine Qbr over the last three seasons. Guys, thank you to show Jackson meanwhile has an idea fellows, he says. If in fact, we don't have fans in the stands. When the NFL season returns, all players should be miked up. Everybody Jeff Darlington. We'll have an opinion about this. What is yours? Look. I love the idea. I think it's a fantastic idea. I would love to see it happen, but we saw what happened with Sam Darnold when it came to seeing goes to the sideline. We're not ready to hear the honesty and my kids crying in the background because need go put. Right there with you, so maybe this is a little demonstration might be dealing with. Exactly, don't do it I'm sorry. Rodney rich assuming there's a young child in your office there, what do you think? They're upstairs. Unless you want to hear a lot of snorted. If, you want to hear a lot of snorting and growling and grunting, if you if you might up offense and defensive line, that's all you're going to hear guys, growling and yelling, and like you're not going to get as much so i. feel like they're doing it pretty good right now. With just the special guys that are the quarterbacks, receivers and your linebackers. You've Mike everybody up. It might be a little too much well yup tate. See what can happen. Lewis you never. Yeah. You never hear kids crying. All messed up. I. Don't know if you WANNA make up everybody I mean come on. I mean Darlington I can't even really answer this because I'm so thrown off by the chaos. Going on your house getting together over there. Where do we get an appearance? I mean at least say bye. Now. Short..

"The receiver to help them? Think about a radiant above end up setting them because they don't have strong wide receiver play. How much of a chip would Aaron Rodgers have on his shoulder? I just love the anticipation of both these. Ask Listen to eight. They both want to be known as the best. Qb Brady wants to have a better season last year. You know Aaron Rodgers will take a thirteen and three record and do something with it not losing the NFC championship game. This a big match up with a lot of implications and not just for that that Sunday but for afterwards because of what happened in the crash. Listen that's not a chip on Aaron Rodgers Shoulder. Mount Everest like the entire living chain. Go ahead Marcus. Marcus in the Diana will get to go. I'll just look it is jeff and Diana. I know I know for the sake of TV. We say in these matchups. Y'All down y'all WanNa see brees and Brady better than anybody else. Any other game in the League. Tell the truth tell the truth Saturday. Aaron Rodgers and brain is pretty. Good too I I. I have to say frady because I. I think that Aaron is looking at Brady going. Is this being mean a few years and by going to leave the organization that I thought I would stay at forever. I'm beloved. I've I've become the best quarterback and they took place in my good hassle leave Green Bay one day. That's why I think that game. It's like backless user game all right. We can all agree to disagree. Marcus Hotel in me are. Yo- telling me the two hall of Famers to top Tier quarterbacks of all time or in the same division with two possible Super Bowl contenders and that's not the most intriguing matchup which I'll just say it. That's what you want me to believe. Well now in fairness the question was what are you most looking forward to. I mean you know what we should all be looking forward to different. They're gonNA play twice. We're going to see and Hank Aaron Rodgers. I just like every windy. Just his shoulder. That's what I'm tired of. The embarrassment of riches Tom Brady has down in Tampa exposes what he could have had if they would have drafted it that way. That will show you everything you WanNa know. The Diana's point or the windy point Mister Rogers will understand. It will not be. He will not be ending his career in Green Bay. He will be like most of us going somewhere else to finish it out. Oh boy all right well listen in addition to those high profile matchups which we can at least agree. They all are. We will also find out a few things when we see reunion games. Those are always circles including Odell Beckham. He will face his old team. The browns will play the giant at met life and that of course the site of Beckham's first five seasons in the NFL. There's a good way to forty nine. Ers quarterback Jimmy G. Back in New England to face Bill Bell Jimmy G. spent his first three seasons in Foxborough. Is the backup to Tom Terrific. He did start two games during his tenure New England and one. Vote the cowboys. GotTa deal done with a quarterback this week but he wasn't named Dak Prescott. Andy Dalton side with the team re energizing. The question about win a deal with that could get done team. Exotic Stephen Jones addressed the contract situation and the addition of Dalton on Wednesday obviously has no bearing on that. And you'll be back by of our franchise now for many years to come. We've gotta get his contract You gotta get over that hurdle ultimately get done but to have a guy like Andy Dalton come in and you're not like Chili head Nick foles when Carson Wentz went down to be able to you know take control and You know when Games when you games for you. That's what you need is really important. Certainly late head on your pillow better at night knowing someone my game to lead the playoffs as for the aforementioned he addressed the media and a conference call yesterday as well and discuss these his role in. Dallas this year and moving forward my mind is I'm GONNA be the Trying to be the biggest tax team. Try to help out as much as I can. So obviously it's a different perspective for me. I've been a starter the last nine years. I'm trying to set myself up for my the best this for the second half of my career You know the starter on this team and I'm here if for some reason if anything were happening for him to go down. I'm going to be able to invest in. Then you're gonNA came to help the team win Diana Andy Dalton saying all the right things really that's what we've come to expect from Dalton but let me ask you about the Dak situation and if there's been any movement whatsoever yeah right now it's status quo as we've been reporting over the last few weeks. Both sides still claim that they're they're close. They're just not there yet. But when I just WanNa peel back maybe maybe what went down about a week ago and I just found this out because we really thought antidote was GONNA wind up in Jacksonville. It was almost surprising that Dallas was the landing spot. We know the Dallas was talking to his agent but it seemed that Jacksonville was perfect. I found out that basically what happened there was any was told. You will not be the starter. This is Garner. Menchu's job so there will be no competition here at all and of course. We know the backstory Andy being from Texas. That makes sense. The pressure's off. But there's always that small chance that maybe DAX sits out so that competitors the fight that we've seen Andy that's not gone away. He wants to give back. You always felt that Dallas was the best way. They're all right mark. Listen DIANA'S RIGHT. It's a lot of status quo. They've got until July fifteenth to get this done nevertheless for nothing getting done we. We seem to talk about it an awful lot and I do think there's a reason for that. I'm so sick of recycle. My brain on his winded knicks conversations with people and know and everybody keeps telling me that that can the deal will get done. We hear Stephen Jones Jerry Jones. We only have seen ten guys get signed before they signed their franchise quarterback and getting the contracts are difficult. But I keep telling people winning the hail the last time we seen a franchise quarterback presumably not saying before. All of these other things transpire like. I'm having a hard time going through my Rolodex in my brain looking at contracts. Come and go for. Nfl quarterbacks that are do you know Joe. Jacobi Brusett gotTa deal done when Andrew lucked decided to retire. Do you know that Teddy signed that? Three hundred sixty three million dollar deal and did not play but five games last year. All of these things dead keep adding up to the fact that that is going to get a deal. There is a big pause and I think the foundation that is and I'm GonNa Pass it off the job because I'm getting hot and I'm getting emotional and I need to seven. You gotTa take a very effective at. I know I really. Don't it's gotTA BE DALLAS? Doesn't feel like daggers. Worth what he's asking for Jeff Komo with in this situation. I Jeff Listen. I'll say this the longer this goes on and the more folks who get deals in place it is hard to dispute some of what. Marcus has asserted here and he said it. I will say Marcus will second that from the very beginning. Yeah I couldn't agree more. I mean listen. You're talking about you. Signed a nine year veteran to to this deal to be quote your backup when when Stephen Jones tries to use the similarity of Nick foles and Carson Wentz Nick foles was not a nine year starter in a League. Taking the team to the playoffs. That that's a completely different role. Did those two guys heard and I can assure you andy. Dalton would love nothing more but to be the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Because that's what he's built for. The guy's been estar. Cut some point when you're talking about a quarterback that had to wait for his running back to get paid his receivers to get paid as a Lineman to get aid another and not even talking about what's going around the league. At some point you begin to think. Maybe they don't want me as much as I as I thought did and I can tell you I'm in his camp. I'M GONNA sign that gender and I'm kirk cousins on them and I'm Keith. Kirk cousins until I stack my bank and he's or until they give me my number because at this point you show me your card you went and put a guy play it is not a quote backup and a lifetime. Backup this the guy who can push for my job or potentially you forgive my job and so as I'm looking at that I'm about to get paid a and they're still get contentious now like we. We've gotten there it. Yeah we we no longer is. Oh Man we're all playing Koumba. Ya No this is. This is serious business right here. Listen I will say this so I if there's one thing I can say I'm happy. That kirk cousins become a verb. I'm GONNA go kirk cousins on him and he got his. That's that's clear..

We talked about earlier. Tweet what do you got? What is that? Is that why you not unique art? Marcus was by being. How about this Tiger Woods? Now with tigers plane with tigers playing with Peyton peyton fills play Tom. Who You got jeff Saturday. We'll start with you. Go around who got. I got to think about it. I don't know very fading obvious. I'm going I I mean come on guys GonNa Happen. Get victory is still off in the sunset. What with another victory. He's retired to thompson out retired so he gets up. He's got to play. Marcus what do you think you know taking Taivon Peyton to the fact that I feel one one last year when they hit the head so gotta get him back and being paid. No have anything to do he. He don't want to do anything other than what he wants to do. So many things playing he's GonNa have more practice than tone I- Diana we're going to hear from these guys. I gotTA GOTTA here here. You Got I O. I think Tom's too busy. Trying to figure out. The playbook lives if you can figure out how to GET AROUND DEREK. Jeeter south so as well Here here's a here's these guys. Listen up familiar with this Obviously fit perfect. Thank you and this is the trophy for the. I don't know actually tell you if you know what this looks like. You might have out of wins. But that's that's actually trophy like had you have one still hold on. I just got an ice bath. A look at chilly. Well well true I mean let the trash talking again. I love it. Hello everybody and happy to have you with us on this Thursday afternoon. I'm Wendy Knicks out there somewhere Diana Rossini Marcus Spears and Jeff Saturday hopefully not for long because ESPN has obtained a memo. Sit last night by Commissioner. Roger Goodell to all thirty two teams detailing protocols for the gradual opening of team facilities plan would start with specific staff members and later the extended the players. The League wants teams to be ready to implement this first days by May fifteenth just over a week from now in the proposal. It states that local and state governments bus consents reopening in that clubs may permit up to fifty percents of non player employees. Close must also create an infection response team a written plan for newly diagnosed cases as well as an infection control officer who oversees all aspects of the implemented guidelines and each employee returns to work must receive covert nineteen safety and hygiene training Diana. What have you been hearing from teams players as we learned about this initial face? Yeah Hey this is actually a really good first step. Everyone's really positive and optimistic. That this is good signs for things to come but talking to different teams today. It really seems like this is a case. By case basis meaning depending on which organization is in which city slash state is basically. How they're going to move forward on this. So depending on how their government rules are we're their facility is based on the decisions that they make that being said every team is trying to get back in their building while use virtual meetings have been going really well from what. I can gather talking to both coaches. Gm's and even the players side of this one head coach. Put it to me best today. He's this is great that we're able to meet virtually we're getting a lot out of it in terms of installing our play but until we can actually go out there and do it. We can't really know or tell it players really comprehending so this is still just a first step but the way I understand at this point. It's a very slow for step into getting back to normal. All Right. Jeff from the players prospective. What would your initial questions? Be Your cautiously optimistic. Like everybody about you know if you how how do we? How do we get moved in right? If you're not from that city if you're from a surrounding city or or state and you're having to get there. Are you allowed to bring family as your family? Leave your family back home. All the different questions about the amount of time you're going to be allowed at the facility. Because I'm sure they're going to have some types of of things restrictions on that type of stuff so from a player's perspective it. How how do you make sure you're taking care of your family as all this is going on you know just as the guy who fit fourteen years in locker room. I know I want my family with me if at all possible. But you just don't know those kinds of questions so those would be the things I would be asking to. Diana's point about understanding playbook all that most guys other than rookies understand how to kind of catch up on that learning curve. I think it's just normal life which we're all trying to learn. The new normals would be the questions that guys would ask them. You Got Fathers Husband. Is You name it? They've got guys who have parents who live with them. Whatever that may be all those questions are going to have to be asked to make sure that when you're coming back home from the facility you know what does that look like so I think those are the questions that will be asking at the beginning. Slowly move forward. Yeah Jeff makes a great point because I think sometimes when we get into the heavy football discussion we we tend to leave out the fact that these guys go home to people and family and dealing with that agents trainers massage therapists the people that use chefs the people that you use of football season. That's one thought but as a player US may would be. What's the fluidity of it? What are what are the repercussions if we have to start and stop what will be the what will our I guess? What will the organization want us to do as players beyond when we're just at the facility? There's a lot of things that come along with it. I think the NFL has done a tremendous job though they want to steal continue and that's most businesses until you obviously get a higher higher board or government saying hey guys we can't the city of yet you want to have fluidity you want to have these dates that you have a goal set and hopefully that they work Allen and also have plans in place in case you have to start and stop so. I think they've been daughter tremendous job and as a player. You want to get back to work but you want to get back to work making sure that is safe for you to go back to work and still be able to live life outside of when you're in that facility as well but it's hard look guys we've had this conversation and we're going to continue to talk about it and a lot of people watch sports back as do. I very very badly. The thing that we all have to realize is that this is one fluid and we're going to have to continue to make adjustments as we go and this is a first time thing that anybody's dealing with this has ever had to deal with it so I just would tell fans and everybody else to keep that in mind as the NFL and all of these other leagues try to sift through how to move. Forward is trucks are reopening and we want it bad and Marcus. I do want to echo one thing. You said because I don't know that we always give credit where credit is due. I think we've seen some pretty effective leadership from the NFL. And I do think the plan in place is meant to be both effective efficient and safe but again we'll all have to adjust as we go speaking of which the full NFL schedule will be released tonight. And we know that opening night will be on Thursday September. While the rest of week one starts September thirteenth. The chiefs begin their title defence than with drew. Brees and Tom Brady and the same division. Now we will see them go head-to-head twice breeze and Brady ranked one and two all time in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. You know they love this. And we might have a match up of the two top quarterbacks taken in the twenty twenty draft Joe Borough and to what Tunga up vote came in with one win apiece against each other Diana again. I'll start with you for reaction in what an early sneak. Peak may look like for the schedule. I can't wait for tonight as much as I just want to tell everybody what the schedule looks like. Because I've been making some calls and get some text messages. Ridha keep that reveal for tonight but You know there are a lot of rumors going around over the last twenty four hours about how the schedule will look. Perhaps there'll be some non conference games to start off this season. I can tell you. That's not going to be the case. This schedules good to look exactly the way it would look if it was a regular normal seventeen game season for these teams so at this point all we can really do now is just sit back and wait for those team. Twitter handles to reveal those schedules thirty minutes before. Espn we'll have their special tonight. But for me is just going to be looking at those teams that are going to have those really difficult. Schedules out on the road Late in the season for me. That's all we always lock in on. Who's going to have that challenge? Jeff what's the first thing as a player when when you know it's coming out and you get the schedule for the first time what's the first thing you look for when the bye week is reality. Is you think the by weekends a competitive advantage you know. Is it GonNa be the you know the early in the season where we get it? You know In the latter portion of season you want it in the latter part of the season. You can get kind of a refreshing week as you're trying to enter the playoff.

"I think when you look at that secondary and you're certainly familiar with a lot of those pieces as there are a lot of former Washington. Huskies in the Arizona secondary but I think adding him to that unit where to me. He always feels more at home. If you'RE GONNA try and peg him at one spot. I would much rather it be safety over a traditional linebacker type role that being said the hope is that they have the imagination to use him in the way that he deserves. Meaning you're right. Make him defense make him multiple. Make him the tight end equivalent for what you. WanNa do on defense you would never have asked Rob Gronkowski to just be an inline blocker or just be a guy split out wide. The beauty of these kind of athletes. Is You get to use them as chess pieces. That can put the other side of the football in a compromised position. I don't know of anyone is going to do that on. Defense potentially as well as Isaiah's speaking of Rob Gronkowski. Isaiah statements is a tight end neutralizer. He's also a great quarterback spy and in my feeling Mike is that you don't even want to tag him with position you want to assign him players. If you're playing the San Francisco. Forty niners have him cover. George Kill you know what I mean like. Always target the player for playing the Ravens. He's on the Mark Jackson. For example that to is the best way to use a talent of caliber. Just turn on some clemson tape. Like don't be afraid to say Brent. Venables is really good at his job. Maybe we should steal some of the things he did with this freak of nature so there weren't that many traits it in the first half of the draft actually according to Adam Schefter. This is the first time since two thousand fifteen that there wasn't a trade in the top. Ten of one of the trades later on that was intriguing was the Tampa Bay. Buccaneers were the forty niners Argon. A trade they're going to trade with the Tampa. Bay buccaneers Tom. Brady's bucks are moving up one slot to come up in this draft. They're still tackle on the board trading up just a slot to get there right. Tackle tristen worse and it was after. The three offensive tackles many grouped with him. Andrew Thomas jeter wells and MCI. Becton came off the board. What do you think of the order in which those players were taken? Please draw on your expertise as a former offensive lineman. Yes now order. Wise may not have been V exact order I would have taken. I thought pure talent wise. Regardless of what side of the line someone plays on Jesuit wills was going to be the best offensive tackle in this draft. That being said I can understand the Andrew. Thomas Pick Very Clean Guy. Great player a lot of pedigree from Georgia offensive line unit. That certainly has shelled out. Guys like one of my personal favorites. My large adults on Isaiah win. Who is now in New England so I understand that at the top but when we got down to Tampa it was interesting because you already had the physical freak MCI Becton off the board and Judge. Wills at that point and so you're left with the last of the four. I think real sure things with Tampa Bay we know protecting Tom Brady. Now is the priority. And the Trent Williams market was going to be too rich for your taste and so moving making sure all right. I got the last of the four guys that we talked about all really in the mix for the first tackle potentially take off the board interest in worse just a ton of ability there that if you can refine just a bit is a guy with all pro capability. One of the other surprising moments involving alignment was when the saints who took center last year in the draft in the second round. Those Eric McCoy picked Michigan Cesar Ruiz at twenty four instead of a linebacker is a lot of people thought they might address. What did you make of that selection? The rich get richer. Like if you look in this draft overall San Francisco Getting Giovane Kim Law falling down to them and certainly for the saints. Offense of Lyon has been touted as a strength for a couple of years. Now they added Ryan Ramczyk at right tackle. Not Too long ago. And you mentioned the Eric McCoy Pick Cesar. Ruiz is a guy who played center for Michigan last year. But has some guard in his pass to his game can certainly slide there as it like Wofford is on his way out at the right guard spot there but I just think smart teams like this in the NFL. Draft tend to look and say all right. We don't have a desperate need really in any one spot. Why don't we continue to fortify the area of strength make it even better in? Would maybe drew brees his final year. Insure that we're going to give that offense. The best chance to continue succeed with that as a strength. Speaking of very good teams the chief said the last pick in the draft and they took a running back. Clyde Edwards Hilar- out of lsu instead of a corner. Mike you know how I feel about drafting running backs in the first round. What will you do for that offense? And I just WANNA say begrudgingly I share your taste. Like is a former offense. Lineman talking about downgrading the value of the running back position hurts my soul in a very real way that being said. Clyde Edwards Allaire may not have been my rb one that was probably Andrea Swift. But I don't know if you could tailor a better fit to what. Kansas City does on offense very similar. Quite frankly to Clyde Edwards Allaire was dealing with at Lsu more five-man protections that any offense in college football last year. A guy who is maybe the best pure pass catcher of any of the running backs in the group this year and who can operate really well in some of those zone running plays those blocking schemes. That aren't gonNA make a ton of use of tight ends and multiple bodies like that in the middle of the field. I love him as a fit. And that offense now. Multiple weapons on every level. Good luck I hope you can get to the passer and Patrick Mahomes in under two seconds because if not that ball is in the hands of someone very dangerous. Who's likely got one of the one on one match ups on the field good night? Was there anyone you were a surprise wasn't picked in the first round. I think sticking with Lsu Christian Fulton and I understand when you're watching the tape of lsu's corners last year. Your eyes are probably drawn. Derek Stanley junior who is like a future top five. Pick as a true freshman for them. But Chris Fulton is a very good corner and one that I can't believe in a draft where I think we saw five or six corners drafted in the first round. He wasn't one of the names. Mike I think perhaps the biggest surprise as I'd rem during love and Henry Rugs and these is of Cliff Kingsbury House. Good Lord was that nothing really went wrong there a couple of minor glitches but for the most part from a technological standpoint. This was pretty smooth. How did it feel to you? Did it felt very clean. I want to give a hat tip to our coverage of the WNBA draft last week. I looked at that as production. Lock done largely by our folks and I said all right everyone involved in that process from the TV broadcast side to the teams making picks to the commissioner all seem to operate pretty smoothly after some practice in that spot. We know and we heard very often about how much time the NFL spent practicing this week. So it seemed to pay off and I think the lack of trades that we really saw in the first round probably aided that to some extent but for the most part there who knew that all of these guys in their rooms with various people in Winnebago's park in the driveway or all the other twenty five screens that Schneider has going on somehow managed to pull this off all right. Thanks so much get some sleep. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Thanks.

"Field before we get into the draft. The most important question. How's the new puppy meter? I have not slept very much recently. I heard a lot of things about being a first time. Parents whether it's of a canine or a human and I don't think I was properly prepared but that's okay because the dog is ridiculously cute. He brings us a ton of happiness and he's decreased as number of accidents exponentially since the day that we first picked him up field. Yates is an NFL insider for ESPN and the proud parent of a new golden retriever. Well let's hope that NFL GM's or more prepared for tonight's draft for your new puppy field. You and I have been covering the draft for a while now but this is a draft unlike any other. Let's start with the really obvious question. Functionally how is this going to work? Well football guys are often the most tech savvy of individuals. But they're going to have to be for three days starting tonight. While general managers or head coaches that make the final decision on their personnel are not going to be in the same place as their cohorts in the front office. They're going to be connected so I have three screens up here to the right to the left will be draft needs as well as team by team grades and boards have to twenty seven inch monitors your that touchscreen for me on the left side would be the offense draft board on the right side will be the defense draft board will be operating from my board. It'll be sent out. Everyone can follow my moves. You'RE GONNA see a lot of general managers or head coaches with seven eight or ten monitors in their Home Office and basically the draft is going to kind of work comparably the how. It did many many years ago when it was a dial in draft. It's going to be one person responsible for much of the Legwork to communicate to the league who the are selecting so you're an NFL GM. You're on the clock. You just have to call in your pick right. I mean it doesn't seem that complicated. He actual execution of calling in the pig. Meena should be the easy part where think it becomes a little bit. Trickier is just the idea that the draft is a very collaborative process and basically everything beyond pick one has some element of mystery. So it's a matter of how quickly you can react and process what has happened ahead of. You will also doing so from potentially hundreds of miles away from the people that you most trust. Were also working on these decisions with her so the NFL has said we will have a failsafe. If something goes wrong for you calling in your pick we can stop the clock. But as you point out the technological issues might not stem from actual league executing the pick but processing information communicating with your staff can the NFL or will the NFL. Stop the clock. If you have problems on that front I think the NFL basically has said like they are going to use reasonable judgment to stop the clock if need be in a legitimate issue of mouth bunch. You can't have a team that on the clock and at nine minutes and forty five seconds into a first round pick which is only ten minutes and then call up the League office and say. Hey we've got an issue in like there's going to be a way and I'm not quite sure how the NFL will do this. But they will have to find a way to regulate and prevent teams just taking their time so the League held a mock draft on Monday to test how the virtual draft would proceed. How did the TESCO yeah so the? Nfl's mock draft on. Monday went like this. They took the initial order of the first round with the bengals and finished with the chiefs. They began with Cincinnati. Who TRADED THE PICK TO THE TEAM? Sixteen slots behind them. Which was the Dallas Cowboys? The cowboys were then to make a pick and the next operation would be the Redskins who had the second overall pick in the draft where to trade the pick to the Pittsburgh steelers. At which point they would make a selection. The problem is before the draft really even got going in earnest the NFL dealt with some technological glitches on the very first big. When the bengals run the clock there was a glitch that lasted about two and a half minutes and there are variety of them and speaking to people who were part of that exercise it certainly sounded a little bit clumsy at the beginning of it. Now that being said Mia I have heard from several people that have pushed back and said I know you guys had fun with it on twitter. We're glad that we got it out of our system early. We'd much rather deal with those curveballs during a Monday. Mock draft simulation that during Thursday night so after the initial hiccups things went very smoothly. We have been seen pictures of the different GM setups. We heard that Matt Patricia. And the Lions I think he's got a the. It guys in a Winnebago on his driveway. I believe is the last thing we heard big. It's actually over at GM. Bob Quinn's house. That's taking measures to the extreme to ensure that you have the proper connectivity and as we know the lions are one of the teams that has been heavily speculated onto potentially be a trade team tonight and the last thing the Bob Greenwood one would be to be in the middle of a phone call with a perspective trade up candidates and not be able to execute that trade because of Technological Ham traits would be the thing I think most affected by all of this right not the actual execution of a preplanned pick but the frenzy of communications that sometimes happen on draft night before big trade. They'll try to have some of these trades worked out before Thursday but when word gets out that the eagles are moving up for CD lamb. What's a chance? Another team is able to communicate or put forward a rival offer for the pick and it also creates a scenario. Where if what you're referencing happens. What are the repercussions if a team reneged on a deal? Is it the Honor Code that allows a deal to hold up if it was agreed to prior to the draft? I think that's a very slippery slope. And the other thing about making deals prior to the draft is that they are executed with a preconceived idea of what's going to take place well other than like picks one through three everything else requires so many different alternative plans that if something goes in a way that one of the two. Gm's involved in a trade did not anticipate what's going to prevent that GM from saying. Hey you know something. We had talked through the innovations of this deal. But I'm just not comfortable making it anymore. So you're saying is while we might not have glitches or hacking we could have chaos. We absolutely could have chaos which is great and I always appreciate when people ask me in advance of the draft. What's the biggest surprise going to be to which my report is? If I knew this was going to be it would be much of a surprise that being said it feels Meena like we are less informed about all of the nuances and details of the process than we normally aren't right. We haven't had pro days. We haven't had the chance to say. Oh well we happen to see again. This is just making it up here. Rick Spielman the Vikings GM was at the Alabama pro day and then he was also in Virginia Pro Day. We haven't connected those dots. What about the players? I mean normally there at the draft dot always some of them have their watch parties at home. What does this experience going to be like for them? It's definitely different but I appreciate it. Some of the players that have taken this time to reflect Meena and share that. Hey the place that I wanNA be. Most on one of the most special nights of my life is with the people that have been there with me from the start of this journey so I've appreciated all the players that have shared that while they're not going to be on a stage and I'm imagining. None of them will be wearing well. These most of them will not be wearing one of the very fancy suits that we often see during draft night. And they won't get to do their dock with commissioner Roger Goodell or bear hug or Christian Wilkins leap last year. That we saw was mendes. I do think these players will still have an appreciation for the moment. I think the biggest difference beyond the players not being there. It's just the fan atmosphere right. It has created such a great vibe around the draft and that's something that is impossible to replicate tonight and that to me will be one of the missing.

"So Liz Jerry goes to Alabama story program and there's a fair about a competition there. What was it like for him as a Freshman? It was hard. He said he wanted to go to Alabama for one big reason. He said he wanted to champion. But the other thing you really liked about it was he had all these coaches were saying. Oh Yeah you're gonNA start right away. Promising him that and Nick. Sabin was the only hurt. You didn't say that he didn't get to play a lot. When he went to Alabama Gold Touchdown. It was very crowded on the depth chart. Calvin Ridley was there and he's a superstar. But you've also got this recruiting class. That is very talented. And Jerry's not the only guy there so jerry was going to have to wait and he didn't want to wait and it was frustrating he wasn't really gonNA get his chance instill sophomore year when Ridley declared for the draft so after Calvin Ridley who he grew up playing football by the way which is crazy after he goes in enters the NFL draft taken in the first round. There's a little bit more room for Jerry to break out. There is sophomore year when Ridley is gone. Jerry takes off. He has a huge game against Ole miss with one hundred. Thirty nine yards throws long behind the defense in stride. Fifteen five thirty bucks touchdown. Seventy nine yard wins the bulletin cough award. He leaves the FCC touchdowns Downfield Shot Jerry to to target quickly sixty two. The book glitter. How does his junior year ago? You know his junior year is once again impressive. But he doesn't have the stats. He had a sophomore year because once again the depth charges pretty loaded junior year. They don't make the national championship game. You know the citrus bowl team like Alabama isn't as meaningful because they're used to being one of those final four teams playing but he opted to play. He had a monster game against Michigan. Jones throws it deep inside the third down around the twenty yard long over two hundred yards receiving and and really sort of capped his career in the best way possible and then right after that he declared the draft. Liz Judy declared I remember. He was pretty widely seen as the number one guy but then other guys sort of rose on people's boards. Cd Lamb Henry Rugs. Just Jefferson diegan's. This class is absolutely stacked. How does it compare with previous wide? Receiver classes. I think you'd have to say it's unprecedented. And I know we use that word and like personally a lot but you know you can compare sort of the top end talent to two thousand fourteen with Odell and Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans in those guys you know. I think the might have been seven. Who won the first round that year but the thing that makes this such anomalies just the sheer volume of talent just to give you an idea of how deep this draft is? I mean there's a decent amount of analysts who are saying that in the first one hundred picks that twenty of those guys could be receivers twenty percent of the draft so many of these guys are juniors too so you wonder it's like as these guys started to come out you know sometimes in classes you'll see a players. Think well I'M NOT GONNA come out if there's all these other receivers in the draft will deter these guys this year and I think it's because they have a lot of confidence in their abilities and I was talking to one former. Gm WHO said you know why not come out if you stay. You're risking injury for another year. And if you come out now then your one year closer to second contract but I do think that set that just the glut of these dyes very well might drive down. No worthies were were. Some of the top receivers are any of them. Might get picked. You know why. Pick a guy in the first round if he can you know if you can pick a couple in the later rounds it'll be interesting to see how that all shakes out so this is obviously an unusual draft insofar as it's not happening at a physical location there are not pro days and physicals and that sort of thing which. I imagine doesn't hurt a receiver like jury duty as much others given. How much tape. There is out there on him but he still has to get ready for it right. I mean he's still hustle workout and impress these teams. He does he was training in Dallas before the combine and then he went back home to south Florida in one of the advantages of being from south Florida. Is that during this pandemic win? Almost every stage shutdown and had stayed homeowners. Florida's governor didn't issue. There's until April first. So Jerry spent you know much of the month of March working out with various guys. There's a real fraternity among NFL. Receiver there in one guy that he worked out with a little too was his old friend. Lamar Jackson Lamar was back in town. You know teams there. Ota's or up in the air with everything going on and so he was able to catch a few balls. From Lamar and Jerry also worked out with Chad Johnson. It quite a bit so you know the guys from South Florida actually probably got a little more working than pretty much. Everyone else.

"Way possible to the video offer and the production crew. That's the key and did the advance scout himself. And you know what advance scouts do Did he instruct them at all to to videotape. That'll it'll be a key to this as well Mike. You were a d. m. g. m. with the jets when A number of these situations involving New England were ongoing. What is your expectation for? Alternate what the League decides to to to kind of piggyback on what Mort said just to take you behind the curtains the way organizations work. You have football. You have business and these sort of things where you're trying to create pieces social media content video shows that's on the business side so on the football side we may have a very loose understanding getting of. Hey these are the three or four people were features on these are the general themes but bill bell checks the coach he's the GM he has doesn't have the time or the wherewithal to say. Hey what's going over there with a more specific with that said somebody on that side of the House has to know what the rules are made. Sure that their Follow carefully so there. There should be some sort of fine for this but this has nothing to do with football operations getting ready. Play the Bengals or the bills. It's a million miles apart the optics I get. It are bad ensure sure they didn't follow protocol but this has nothing to do with ultimately what everyone's concerned about did they have a competitive advantage and absolutely they didn't because this is again they were trying to capture for content for some of their online programming. The two of you see when you. I don't see necessarily anything that that helps a great deal. Obviously it was a a short snippet of the video more than anything tedy Bruschi because it was stupid but we are looking at the organization. And you understand. The history of your organization's defines the the accusations of cheating. You should know okay. This one might not be the one that we need to do and if we are going in to do it we need to do it. In a certain way so it was a it was a lack of organization. Wherewithal you have to be aware of the way that you are preceded and to go out there and do this or to have somebody who can actually say I didn't know I didn't understand the rule that is unacceptable? And now I'm a guy who's a Pittsburgh steeler and has been on the side of many fans ends believing that the New England patriots had cheated. I still believe that they cheat before. I don't think this time it was that situation. I don't think the football operations had anything to do with this but it is a huge black I. They will be punished and they should be It's a really bad sense of awareness teddy's right about that. I think a couple of things jump out to me terms of what you you see on the video. Is there a lot that you can glean from the video. No I don't believe there is especially with the coach to quarterback or coaches defensive play caller communication that exist in the NFL. Does that mean that signals no longer exist in the NFL. No that's not what it means. There are plenty of people that still signal and they'll signal adjustment so so you can get information like is it as vital as the actual play call. No but you can get information and you know taking the Patriots out of any time someone is cheating. There's just looking for some small advantage to help them to give them some type of an edge and I would just say this. I got my perspective. Most definitely was this probably. Was this. Do Your job feature and all of that is tight. As that shot is on the sideline that was surprising to me just plain and simple all surprising to the bengals security guy to be like wait a minute. That's not the field that is this tight as you can get on the sideline and that's what he said. That and there Stephen Even my last Monday night right. So I'm saying that is tight okay. And if he's been there for eighteen years he was working there when spy gate was going on. Aw right like there is a lot. And so the the the point that there's two houses and there's the business side and there's the football side Teddy said it. It's under the umbrella of the New England Patriots. Ah Part of it for for me when you look at. That is look I I it is look. They also did a feature on the equipment equipment out. You know what I mean. There was an element of that. We might not have been a great idea. Do something on on the cameraman or the people in the control room. That's what this type of series is the people that the fans the public. Just don't get to see what they do. Now let me let me just throw this out there. The previous operation two thousand seven spy gate. Whatever you want the name you gave it bill? Belichick admitted they were doing it. And he argued to the commissioner that there were within the rules and they weren't and he got punished for it in this situation. They went into the press. This box with three people. Two of them freelancers and one of them full-timer and somebody pointed out they set up a tripod and monitoring view of a bengals employees. Yeah and and they were. They were doing there any when he he wasn't gonNA shoot the advance scout the whole time but you do that in front of a Bengal security guy and the other one point. Somebody made me. He said if if you think bill belichick but ever let to freelance No damage shooter. Let me finish this. Let me finish a camera shooter and the audiotape be involved in one of the football operations. That's the key the football you're you don't know Bill Belichick. I know the guys involved in the original spy gate stuff. They weren't art long-term employees and they were they were but it wasn't like you know they were CIA level employees that they were trusting and so I think a lot of people that touch the operations from the video department to the equipment department and all of that stuff I think it would. It would surprise you. Look I do do I think do I think I think you're right. I think it was for their piece. But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a punishment for videoing sideline when you're not allowed to do the camera. Keilor it's just a video and audio take or freelance guys could be doing something for us next week or CBS or NBC. Fox Is. That's why I don't. They would be. The biggest thing is though if you get caught robbing a bank two times and you hang out in the bank a lot. You can't say because you girl for a works there right. You're going to have to do your best the job to make sure you stay away from the bank to make sure you're not in any type of situation where somebody could say. You are trying to do the same thing again. And so just from an oversight should the better job to RC's point. This is so far from anything else that's happened in the past because again just to take you behind the scenes. The last thing those guys are worried about on the football side is oh who shooting. What this week? That's a million miles away from what they're my say that but if you're going to do a profile advance scout or you're you're GonNa do a profile on on assistant coaches it. There's no way to help us football. There's no there's no way that the head coach doesn't know that. Hey we're doing to do your job. Profile on the event Scout. There's no way that don't know that. But that's different than having the guy actually shoot your short but there's no shot that the head coach does not know that you're not that that they're doing WanNa do your job profile on an advance scout or on someone they know who it is. Tim Maybe get a list on a monthly basis. Hey these ten people these five families right but what I'm say as the attention to detail of what is allowed in the genre the actual contract somebody dropped the ball and didn't tell those what what the rules were and that's where they should should be fine. Put that again to me. Nothing to do with the competitive I think. I think there's two arguments here. There's a lot of folks I think we're all in agreement that say this was really not about a competitive football advantage. Nevertheless a rule was broken. And you can't have a reputation. As the most buttoned up detail. Oriented leaves no stone unturned organization. And then say oh. We miss that one within no. Oh you can't have it both ways to the quarterback who beat the Patriots twice in the superbowl including once at the end of that season manning perhaps playing his final giants home game. He got a standing ovation from teammates and fans at the end of this one and the game ball presented to him in the locker room. This guy's got many game balls. Let's give one more. He lied. Whoa.

"The welcome aboard and we're we're going to hand out the hardware at the halfway point eight nine weeks down eight to go but we can't do it alone we're going to need our analysts. The best in the business allow me to introduce born and raised the Anna. He's still bleeds. LSU Purple and gold. He was a safety in the NFL for thirteen seasons. And he's worked here with us the SPN for the labs vibes. Say Hello to Zapper in Green Ryan Clark Rookie. NFL analyst. He was born and raised in the great state of California he played linebacker for USD and then twelve seasons in the national football league. He's coached for the League for six different teams a head coach. Both Jacksonville and Jack. The car was born in the Bronx. She was a more sports state. Champion in the Great State of New Jersey Played Soccer George Mason University and she's been with. ESPN since two thousand fifteen as a host reporter and NFL INSIDER UCR a year every week on NFL countdown. Diane Schaal Rain God. We'll start the offensive player of the year. Non quarterback so I I one player. The offensive player of the year is Christian. McCaffrey circle McCaffrey. who leads the lead? With twelve hundred scrimmage yards. McCaffrey has also scored thirteen of Carolina's twenty three total touchdowns this season he's pretty much single title handedly kept them afloat in Cam Newton's absence and we take a look at the results. This one was not even close. McCaffrey runs away. Pun intended with eighty three percent of the vote. No what a player received more than ten percent of the vote. And that's despite Michael Thomas being on pace to set the single season receptions record as well as big seasoned and from Dalvin Cook and Aaron Jones. It wasn't close and if he asked me. Especially when you're talking about non quarterback it makes a lot of sense coach. He has been electric. No He's unbelievable. He's it's been that way as entire life all the way back in Denver Colorado Valor Christian. I watched his young man. He's amazing. He went on to Stanford heisman finalist analyst. And now here he is. I mean this guy's right now playing as well as anybody in the league and And and really right now without him. What were with the Carolina Panthers me he's has been like? MVP type question is can he sustain this pace can happen to season Ryan Diana. Well you know what. It's not even necessarily about sustaining the pace. It's about finding needing someone to stop them in a way that he's helped this team and Cam Newton's absence and if you ask me. He's the reason that Cam Newton may not be the starting quarterback of the Carolina Line of Panthers anymore not call because he is keeping this team afloat and he is leading them to these winds. There is Carolina News this afternoon. Diana we talked about this Cam. Newton had gone out to green bay to see a foot specialist and now according to Adam schefter his season is over the panthers have placed Cam Newton on IRR. So the debate about what happens when Cam. Newton is healthy and comes back in terms of Kyle. Allen is a moot point now I do think this changed the entire fuel around this team because I do think this was hanging over them. And what are they gonNA do at the quarterback position even on this show right. We were debating this almost every single day. What do they do? And you know you talk to players in Carolina and they will say wholeheartedly that this is Cam Newton's team but now that he's been placed on perhaps this can change the flow of it and the old get behind Kyle Allen and I think back to Christian McCaffrey here in just in terms of what he's been able to do in the improvements. He's me this year. North Turner was brought in two years ago. And I remember talking about what he thought. This offense. Vince could be with him now. Running the show and the run game is what he kept pointing to and now with Christian McCaffrey being little make those improvements. This is exactly why. Turner was brought into Carolina China. Well and he's got the workhorse to do it. Because that's exactly what Christian McCaffrey has been up next the Comeback Player of the year award of our Comeback Player of the a Europe. Or we ought to. I remember in Comeback Player of the year is Dow the two thousand scrimmage yards. Adrian Peterson in two thousand. Seven is the only player in franchise history to hit that mark in a single season. He's also reached the end zone in seven of Minnesota's nine games. This year Cook wasn't close to McCaffrey in the offseason player of the midseason voting but he edged edged out. Jimmy Garoppolo and Cooper Cup in this category and believe it or not running back. Has it one comeback player of the year since garrison. Hearst did it for the forty niners by the way in two thousand one. He has been a lot of fun to watch. Well listen delvin. Cook is the Guy I think we are speaking about with more. MVP candidate substance. If it wasn't for Christian McCaffrey. He's been everything for this team. He was electric when he got into the League rookie. He's had some injuries and now he's really the force driving this offense and allowing kirk cousins thousands to exploit play action. Pass down the field to feeling when healthy and also stuff did. Vikings have been run heavy to start the season Roenick so well that they're asking their quarterback throw it only ten times. It's been amazing and Delvin. Cook has been spectacular. All of these guys amazing all four great comeback stories. The Album Cook happens to win the award. All four stores Cooper Cup outstanding. What he's doing Jimmy G.? Getting it done sixteen and to record out in San Francisco. These guys are doing. Listen Jimmy Garoppolo. Back in his team is the only undefeated team in the league. That's that's a decent comeback. I would say anyone else tiredness award. I'm still with an agreement with the dalvand Cook nomination. Here we forget. He was injured for two seasons. He was dealing with that. ACL injury you read that stat. That he's the second most rushing yards in Minnesota Vikings history behind even Peterson through nine games. I almost had to see that twice there too. That's that's how productive. He's been and have the season. He's certainly deserving of this. Well since we're talking talking about comebacks there is also news about a comeback. Today quarterback Nick foles according to the Jaguars will return. He's eligible to come off. I are and he will be the starting quarterback for the jags after their. Bye Week up next for Jacksonville. They traveled to Indianapolis. I don't think Ryan unlike other situations situations across the league that this is a surprise. I think everyone always felt that. This is the way that this would go. Obviously having him not play well against the Houston Texans in London help. This process is be a little bit easier for the TB. When you go out and get Nick foles a super bowl? Mvp You give him over twenty million dollars a year. You think that he could take you to the next level and they're gonNA see now now with him back in the fold if Doug Marrone Tom Coughlin Caldwell. We're right by making this choice. What would be your expectations coach for Nick? Foles I think Nick's going to step in and play well. He was ready to play well when he started. The season unfortunately suffered that injury or he got driven into the ground his shoulder let loose. But this is this is the right move by the franchise right. This is the right direction and this guy now. We know that you can play. And he wants a magic but after coming off a twenty six to three loss in London there was no way wasn't going to go. Yeah and it's a wealth of richest for them now now that they know what they have right so now they have a starting quarterback in a backup that can play this now. Comfortable in the or at least has gotten a little taste of it. I feel like like the jags. Were in a great position. Now when you have a quarterback that backs up and comes in and keeps the team somewhat steady situation. That's not a problem. Well then that's been the news of This year right stories of so many different teams. Do you have a capable backup. And when Doug marrone makes a decision to keep going to Mitch you as the second guy only have two quarterbacks they believe the him before anyone else did and so. I don't believe Mitchell mania is over in Jacksonville. Jaguars just for the Jacksonville. Jaguars on policy for just hitting the pause ause button for just a bit our next Lord the man at the top..

I think you'd probably have a lot of people who agree with you why not then say if your Denver if in fact this is curative in any way this is a decision always in part because of what he said I'll be honest you know I'll always kind of giggling earlier because you do think that this is curious timing for sure and then when you see Joe Flacco after the game he didn't look like someone who who seemed injured in that way we obviously the last play of the game he was actually hit and fumbled the ball and so it could have happened on that play he was hit from behind by somebody so I'm not laughing at that but it is it is curious timing and it's funny how these things happen you go on after the game and you say all of these things about clock management and you say these things about taking chances and you speak about being a to win sixteen guess what you're the quarterback of the two and sixteen in coming into this game you were two and five and you were the quarterback then and he's been of your play that has gotten your team to this point so sometimes you have to be accountable for those things as well and I'm with Tim Unacceptable to do this to your team to do this to your coach and now it works out that you say these things about the other people in your locker room and you're not even going to be on the field for the next game I just know this if a player goes into a safety that goes to a coach coach we stopped bringing so much pressure anymore went back and you're when you bring more the coaches are like what like I'm GonNa work with this guy that's what the players want I'm GonNa work but I I think if a quarterback goes to head coach or play caller and exactly we're in these situations were two and six let's be more aggressive I can almost promise you that they are more aggressive because guys WanNa work together on this when you do it that way it doesn't work it divides and I think that's why it's just dead wrong also think too there's no way that coach cannot be on the defensive now if I'm Vic Fangio if I'm one of the players in that locker room now I have to point the finger back at you it's not a satiated Tim says you come to me in in my office I can say you know what you're probably right we should be more aggressive here we should be more aggressive there now you have to point to him and say okay what are you doing to make this team better about winning more than you're looking for solutions and at the end of the day did this make better did this help that team find a solution ultimately I think we can all agree the answer is no therefore not the way to do it I can't argue with former players former players super former performance Brandon Alan will step in he will start for the broncos again they will play the browns another Alan will also start Ron Rivera announcing today and he did this last Monday as well that Kyle and we'll start again for the Carolina Panthers Rivera said they Cam Newton remains right in the middle of his rehab process so no change there kyle and of course went out to San Francisco suffered his first loss of the season as the starting quarterback but he more we'll get the nod once again for Carolina you'll see some people it will now that they've stopped that winning streak of his because he'd been unbeaten as a starter that maybe it was time for Cam O- obviously comes out ready and losing the forty niners the problem for every quarterback this man beaten yet that's right there's two undefeated teams which we talked about we will look more closely at the forty niners and the it's coming up I also mentioned that tomorrow marks the trade deadline four o'clock eastern to be exact and then after that it all changes so some teams trying to get things done the buzzer the jets traded Leonard Williams to the giants for a three this year and a five and the twenty twenty one draft however that fifth round pick according to our Adam Schefter sources say the giants I it will become a fourth round pick William signs a contract extension before the start of the league year the jets pain four million of Williams six million dollar salary this season you don't often see this but again going from the giants the jets to the giants it's the first trade doc between these two teams and now trades there's already been seventeen trades coming into this trade weekend deadline weekend because the NFL salary recapture bigger more flexible you can do these type of trades just interesting the jets and giants for the first time I've executed this trait and the giants wanted some defense we've line help now he this is the last year contract and the jets want draft picks they've gotta they've gotta rebuild their whole offensive line and then some right yeah I think I think the jet see this as a move toward the future you get to draft Quinton Williams early on in last year's draft so you feel like you have some stout young players they're alone with leave mcclendon who's a.

"Happy to have you with us as things continued to heat up in the off season coach, and let's just start with this. You know, we talk about your experience as a quarterback and then you've worked closely with quarterbacks. What's the biggest challenge or adjustment? If you will as sort of being the CEO of an entire system rather than just working with one very important position group. Well, there's a lot more that goes onto your day. But that's not any surprise thing for any of us that are head coaches now. So it's been really exciting. It's been a good challenge. And I think we've got a great staff in place here in the players have really bought in. So it's been good. First couple months here. Lot more jump into before. I do. Let's just get some housekeeping out of the way and that is your quarterback. Andy Dalton he's had some injuries. Where is he coach in his progression? He's healthy. He's been out there. The last couple of phases. And he's ready to go on a great job taking in the playbook being a good leader for us. And again, he's one of the guys that's really bought in. And being a good leader forest right now, Zac, we've seen this as we just saw before we came in here guys who have played quarterback somewhat recently in college. You even spent a year in two thousand sixteen at the university of Cincinnati is their offense coordinator Kingsbury, we mentioned Matlock floor. We mentioned Andy Reid the chiefs coats. So the NFL is five years behind college football. What do you think he means by that? Yeah. They've certainly been very innovative at that level. There's a lot of things you see coming up in the NFL schematically right now that NFL teams are reaching down to the college level. And at times, we think we're inventing it up here. When in reality, they college teams have been doing it for many many years. And so I understand what he means by that point. And he's not wrong by any stretch. There's a lot of great stuff that that we do is every single year when we study those college teams that we use at this level kind of Kenny ask you this. I wonder is there a difference? We talked about the fact that you worked with Ryan tannehill and then Jared Goff. They're young quarterback. So we're at the time, you know, early stages their careers. Andy Dalton a veteran QB eight years, and he knows the ins and outs of the NFL. What's the difference with working with quarterbacks in those different stages? Well, he's seen all the situation. So when you install something new start talking about it from the ground level. He knows exactly what you what we're talking about. He can -ticipant what you're about to say. But at the same time he's eager to learn. Like a young quarterback. So he doesn't try to act like he has all the answers. Even though he likely does you know, he wants to learn he's eager to take notes. He wants to see a new way of doing it. And so that's been really refreshing to see a veteran that isn't stubborn or sitting in his ways, you know, he wants to see a new way of doing things, and we appreciate that as a coaching staff. As Zach, you know, what you're going through the pre-draft process evaluating players, and coaches, look at other other coaches tapes and systems that would have you is there any coach at the college level that you would like to see take a crack at the NFL. Why think a guy I've always enjoyed watching Chris Peterson from the days when he was back at Boise and Kellen Moi Kellen. Moore was the quarterback. And now it's time in Washington. He's always been a coach that I've enjoyed studying the offense of scheme that they employ. I've always thought he's very creative innovative does he really good job game planning and sacking defenses. And so I know I speak for myself. But I would imagine that there's a lot of coaches in the league that feel the same way about Chris Peterson got a takeover situation where Marvin Lewis was was there for sixteen season..

"We gotta start giving these boys here some little. That's how they get open to be tough test against Vikings defense, threatful continuity tenable Levin starters are back, but of course they have a new quarterback eighty four million dollar man in Kirk cousins pressure. Do you think he faces internally going into? He's tried to calm down as best he can. I mean, Kirk will always say the right things to in terms of with the team game, relying on all my teammates, but even kirks gotta feel a little bit that they feel like they were basically a quarterback away from continuing their quest onto a Super Bowl. So there is some pressure on Kirk cousins. I mean, the most coveted quarterback free agent theory. They got gave him a lot of money guaranteed and none of that matters, but still they're looking at him to lead. So if there's a time in a game where maybe they're struggling authenticity. Now they're going to look to that quarterback in the huddle like you're the new guy. Now, what do you got for us? And that's. Kirk cousins have to one of the best one, two punches at wide receiver in the NFL. Stefan dig plus cook, comes back. No excuses. Be really. Which is why they're both on the Vikings as we continue your on NFL live in the late afternoon, Window's Sunday, a rematch of Super Bowl, forty eight in Denver. The legion of whom has been dissolved the ATL and now it is Russell Wilson team, Denver lost eleven games. Last season brought in case keenum in the off season to bolster the offseason times. We're making smarter decisions informed by IBM Watson, so case keenum expected to add a lot of stability and they basically have built the playbook around him. Bill must grave, went back, looked at everything. He's done back to school to make him really comfortable. What does he need to do to prove all the doubters wrong? Because it didn't look so smooth and three CS always going. He doesn't listen to the doubters. He's always had a chip on his shoulder. He's always been relegated to being a backup quarterback. That's not the case. Keenum is a guy takes care of the football and does what he's. In the past and that is throw darts over. The middle doesn't have to show you is big arm down. The field doesn't have to do all those type of things just be who he is. Take care of the football, though the quick route trust trust, run game, and understand this. He has a deep behind him that can make plays. He doesn't have to win and be the hero in Denver to win ballgames. He can be a guy that can be consistent and be himself. He think about this, the hawks defense different a lot different than it was yes, but they got a special player that starting form this week Suzy Kim Griffin now k. j. right has had a scope on his knee. So he's on the shell through week or two. So this man right here can't stop, won't stop him as as a collegiate player back at the university of central Florida. You see the pursuit in how angles don't work with blockers. And of course he ran that four three, eight forty at the combine three draft, and this is the speed he has attacking the line of scrimmage playing off the ball linebacker. Now. Siphoning those holes in the offense of lines and go and getting those tackles in the preseason..

"Tweet we showed and that is diana mentioned part of a series of tweets that were you know he's very well informed on the subject and russell knows what you can and can't accomplish in a collective bargaining situation right todd gurley saying strike for guaranteed contracts but you're not gonna get guaranteed contracts put into a collective bargaining agreement to what was his point you have to you have to go get them yourself kirk cousins got one kirk cousins said to the denver broncos the deals guide to be fully guaranteed or i'm not going and the denver broncos went and signed case keenum and the vikings said okay right and so that that that was a success story nba major league baseball these collective bargaining agreements don't have any provisions that mandate guaranteed contracts it's about a player in an agent once upon a time insisting and then another one insisting and exercising is leverage until that became the norm so the answer to russell's question about you know how do you get guaranteed contracts given the need for them in the nfl is go get him make sure you insist and tell them tell the teams negotiating with you want me this is what it's going to take 'em staring at you because i'm thinking all right there's one person here that actually played the game what are your thoughts you think nfl players deserve guaranteed contracts yeah absolutely of course i'm i'm gonna always advocate for the players but again there's wold and dan has talked about if you want something if you wanna deal like that you have to advocate for yourself to go out and go she ate that those types of deals but again this is a numbers game we're talking about the nba where you know it's four hundred fifty players in the nba whereas the nfl is seventeen hundred players much bigger pool and you talking about a sport that is a very violent collision sport so you gotta understand what the the owners are coming at the same time if we want to guarantee if we're going to go down this path not gonna really be conducive to their business so that's going to be a sticking point you're gonna have to fight over and i don't i don't the high end guys can i think can achieve that it's the gaza's in the middle into the back into roster those are the guys that i don't see them being able to get guaranteed contracts it's it's anybody who can flex some leverage right and i'm looking like look at the rookie deals right how many thirty two first round picks this year in the nfl how many would you think get fully guaranteed deals it's not all thirty two it's twenty to the twenty third pick in the draft isaiah win from the patriots his contract is ninety nine point one one percent guaranteed why why is area win say to the patriots come on you gotta be big nickel and diamond or your first round pick over one percent of the contract you lost to tackles and free agency you want explain to your fans while your number one picks nine and.

"Tune out because there's just too much football yes definitely but i think generally the trade off and people who are really devoted to that browns bengals game because they've fifty bucks on it and that is going to reverse some of the nfl's woes you know last year and i did some research on this but last year there were weeks and months where college football had more gambling in the nfl which hadn't happened in years years inches i think it may have happened in a couple of consecutive weeks in november last year and again there's a lot of reasons for that but the nfl needs gambling a little needs widespread gambling a little bit more than may people think and that's why i think it's so funny that the mlb and the nba have been working with people asking the integrity fee for a couple of years whereas the nfl is still kind of got its head in the sand the pga tour i just saw a statement that they you know they're they're gung ho about this the ufc an mls gung ho about this so the vast majority of leagues understand why this is important issue blake obviously hates it because eight anything that's a good idea but can say the same about the nfl i think yeah feels a little more open good ideas but not by much right so yeah so i just think that they're the unintended consequences that shake out from this are going to be fascinating i think it will only help the nfl but again i think other sports will be helped more danny what are you going to gamble on say if you're not gonna gamble on what are you gonna 'cause i gamble on a lot of different sports just now football iowa i'm well aware of the gambling trends and football just because i have to be and i study all the time i've done entire podcast about the gambling and efficiencies in the nfl but are you just gonna become like a i wanna become a huge nascar fan what tell me what i yeah what should i give him i feel like there's probably a lot of sports that now people are just going to become just total sharps at that that i don't think about.
