"Right now the Giants are the 5th seed, 7 and four, Washington's 16, 7 and 5, Seattle's 7th seed, 6 and 5, and right now Tampa's not even in the playoffs, but they're 5 and 6. So they're right out. But it's funny that just how having Tom Brady because I agree with rob, I think I don't want to play Tom Brady in the playoffs. They look bad. Yeah, they do. I'm not saying like the eagle should be scared, but out of those four teams. The bottom four team is the NFC are so bad. When you compare that to the AFC, it's like Baltimore, which has Lamar Jackson, Cincinnati, went to the Super Bowl last year. The jets seem like they're doing pretty well. And then you have the Chargers who have Justin Herbert. So it's just, again, crazy how different the two leagues are right now. Oh, yeah. And back to your point, Ryan, with the giants. It says a lot because they're playing the commanders this week. They're home, but they're home dogs. Yeah. Two and a half point under dogs, so isn't it, isn't enough, what is the NFC east? Is that right? Yes. Every NFC east team would make the playoffs right now, but we're to end. That's correct. That's crazy. The one and then the 5, 6 and 7. Who would have guessed that? That is so bizarre. Every east team is about 500. NFC and AFC. That's kind of cool. You guys have anything for football before we do our confidence level ten? I wish beast from the east was the song title so we could have thrown that in there, but a lot of work nicely. Speaking of football, who do you guys think you're doing when the world cup? Oh, football. Oh, yeah. I think I've gotten pretty into the last two games for the USA. Saturday at 10 o'clock, we play the Netherlands. Look at that. I'm not going to pretend to know. I know much about the Netherlands, but the U.S. team is the second youngest team in the league or in the World Cup and they're at least they're fun to watch. Yeah, I know just about nothing about football or soccer, whatever you want to call it. But it is fun to watch the World Cup games and I heard we match up well with the Netherlands, so I was USA. Let's go. This I promise you. I'll at least be drinking some mimosas in washing the game. Nice. I don't know anything about soccer. So I'm just going to stay out of it. Why? Does it make you ill to watch?

"NFC east would make the playoffs based on the current standings with the only exception being the 6 and 5 patriots who are currently the first team out in the AFC. Those two divisions are a combined 61 and 28. That's winning over 68 percent of their games. That's the best win percentage by any two divisions through week 12 since the AFL NFL merger that was 52 years ago. You heard their voices already. We're still trying to get the music credit. It is NFL live. I'm field VHS. Hey, guys. Filled yeast. I know that's what you used to listen to before the game. You know, Bill. 100%. Downhill McGill. No doubt about it. No, we're good, man. Ryan Claus. The whitest side of NFL live in Easter green. Where are we going? Are those vineyards across players? Yeah. Come on now. Sorry that. Come on. We got two big divisions that we have to dive into. Yeah, we do this work. We started buffalo as fast Russian vlog Miller. Left the bills recent win over the Lions. That was because of a knee injury. He did not tear his ACL. That's the good news. He's out indefinitely, though, is he continues to assess the injury and figure out when he can return to the field. He hopes at some point this season is still not totally clear. Miller leads the bills with 38 quarterback pressures this season. That's top 5 in the NFL. That seems pretty good to me. No other player on the bills has more than 12 pressures as Ed Russo, excuse me, Gregory stone at Oliver made the one person there. They're tied for second with 12 each. So Miller has 26 more than any other bills player. That's the second largest gap for any team's top two leaders and pressures this season. So we'll start with our defensive line swag. How much does this Miller injury hurt the bills going forward? Yeah, it's huge. And you know, what's funny about that stat that we just showed is that you would think that those guys would benefit from funds, especially great Russo, being on the opposite end. Now they have to up their workload. But look, I said that when he went to the rams. That's about closing big gains. And buffalo hole intention, like every team, but every team realistically, they ain't gonna get to where we think the Buffalo Bills can get. It's von Miller being healthy and making sure that in those critical moments with 13 seconds left when Kansas City has the ball, we got a guy that can not only get Patrick Mahomes off his spot, but potentially get him on the ground. And you lose that element for how long I don't know. I will interject this opposite viewpoint, though. Von fresh legs in the playoffs? Sure. If he gets there, that's something that people need to pay attention to. I don't know what the injury is. Don't know how long. But if it is something where he's out two to three weeks and they can maintain, you get a playoffs with a fresh Lake von Miller. That makes a difference in the game. Yeah, Marcus often refers to him as the closer. What he also does is close run lanes. As well. I mean, and we spoke about it a lot of times with the Los Angeles Rams, how he was such a great run defender. And I believe that goes underrated. And when you think about attacking the Buffalo Bills, in the run game, they have been susceptible this year, but they got in big leads and teams haven't been able to stick with it when you think about the things that Jamal Williams, Deandre swift and you were able to do as the Detroit Lions offense. And so if I'm playing the Buffalo Bills, sometimes my best defense against Josh Allen will be my run offense. I can now keep him off the field. This team is not allowed to be as exposed to this team is not allowed to make up for mistakes the way that we often see them do when they get opportunities for continual and consistent series. And so if I'm an offense, playing this team, I'm also going to feel good about the way I can run the ball now without von Miller on the field. Yeah, so I think you guys bring up a bunch of good points. If I was the bills and he is out and extended period of time and he's not going to come back this season, I would go outbid the cowboys for L del Beckham. I just because I would sit there and go if Vaughn is going to cost me four points a game. I'm going to score four more with Odell as long as he's healthy. Do you not think they should get Odell period? I don't either. I don't think they need I absolutely think they should entertain getting him okay. But if Vaughn is out for the rest of the year. It's a must have because you're going to have to go out and score. And this is all under the context of, do you think he's going to be able to play in the next month? Right. And then do you think by the middle of January, you know, early obviously February Super Bowl, he could give you four to 6 a game, catch wise, right? I also don't want to minimize bonds loss while over not while also not over panicking. This was the number one defense in the NFL last year. As long as TRE Davis comes back and gets healthy in Milano stays healthy and poyer stays healthy and Greg Rousseau comes back, they're still going to be a really, really, really good defensive unit, but they're obviously Super Bowl or busted. I have something to say, go ahead, feel good. We got to rap. Okay, we got to move from the bills to their opponent. They're playing on Thursday at the Patriots. And we're feeling extra patriotic today as the U.S. Ben's national team has advanced to the round of 6. That's pretty sweet. Wait, they won? It's official. They want. Great little interjection right there. We're a football and a football show here. Patriots offense found putting last Thursday. Defense wasn't so good. Is how about this? The Vikings completed 81.6% of their passes on Thursday night. I've built such big coaching patriots forever. That was the second worst game in terms of opponent completion percentage during the Bill Belichick era, the highest since 2000 and 8, man, what a long time that has been. So again, the offense looked the bestest looked off season swag, but how concerned it was the defensive porn. I was 'cause heard about the secondary, man. Look, and we know, look, first of all, let me say this. Just ridiculous. It's really good to be there. I walk into the green room every week on Tuesday and you have your iPad out and you're watching games. I want you right now to say, who's the lockdown, drag out corner in the back end for the New England Patriots. Safety. The player you point to, that's the problem. That's the problem. You don't have a guy. That's true. What a true. What about the Jones kid? And young? Young and going to be really good, but this is a complete opposite of what trevon Diggs was able to do. In doubt. But let me get back to it. The window, here's the issue with new England as a front 7 guy. When Matthew judon is not getting pressure, they don't pressure the quarterback. And they're not built to pressure the quarterback on the interior. This is a defensive line outside of Dietrich wise who can rush the passer at a high clip. This is a physical stop you in the run game type defense. They don't have a dynamic pass rusher from the interior. And those windows in that zone have a lot of time to develop. Because Kirk Cousins had the ability to stand back there. Most of the time, the only time New England gets pressure on the quarterback is when they add people or met you Judah. That's it. Christian barmore, eligible to return in just a couple more days. Since the start of last season, let's talk about the offense, though, dim, they show some signs of life 26 points. Mac Jones for 380 yards more than any other quarterback last week. What worked for them? Well, he was confident. They got the ball out of his hands. They protected him. I think two things stood out in their past game. Number one, when he was in the shotgun, it was catch and throw. Horizontal. Now I don't know if that's because they can't win in man coverage as a receiver or it's the style of defense for Minnesota, and then the second thing was they put them under center way more when they wanted to go vertical. So in the gun it was like catch and throw, let's get the balls to the perimeter. How many quick throws can we get? And then in the gun or excuse me under senators, let's go some play action. Let's get hunter Henry involved to try to push the ball downfield vertically. If that's what they're going to do moving forward, I think there's a little bit of more successful recipe than what we've seen this year. The Minnesota Vikings have given up a million yards in the last three years. Yeah. And they've given up a hundred. 77 points. Yeah. When you look at buffalo, then Dallas and then now even New England and we say they found some life offensively. I agree with you, though. That is the question, why are they a get it out of your hand fast offense? Why are there a team built with guys like that? That's the problem. Even if Matt Jones was able to take that next step, which we thought he would do this year, we could push the football down the field. He changed his body. Do they even have the guys on the outside to do it? And I don't believe they do. And I think that puts more pressure to me, Marcus, on your defense. Right. You're dinking the Duncan. You're getting the football out of your hand quick and then here comes Justin Jefferson. He gives you 40. And now as a defense, right? I feel like, I gotta stop him because we don't score at that type of clip. And so I think when you look at this team trying to play complimentary football, it's extremely difficult. And the way this team is built offensively, if they don't find pass rushers markets, if they don't turn the football over, this will still be a team on

"That sort of thing? Patrick? No, not at all. No, not at all. Justin wants to just show up and play his game each and every Sunday. What people are accustomed to seeing him do on a Sunday basis. So for the most part, you know, Justin is looking at this matchup as you look at each and every other matchup. You know, he want to go out there, you know he's going to get teams best shot. He know he's going to get double double team, too man. He has to find out where the overcome that. And he's been doing a great job of that throughout this season. And no matchup is ever too big for him or I don't think he put any match up above the other one. He just want to go out there and try to perform on his best each and every time he stepped out there on the football field. What was it like Patrick Peterson in the film room if you did watch it as a group watching back his catch against the Buffalo Bills on that fourth down? What was that like? It was pretty wild, man. Guys still was just amazed on him catching a ball. I had a front row, see I was writing on the sideline when the play all unfold unfolded because his fourth and 18, we have to get this, we have to get this first down if we don't in game is pretty much over. So I wanted to see everything that happened. I saw Kirk snap I saw him get a little under pressure a little bit, that back hitch stepped up in the pocket and he delivered a high ball when I first saw it. I was like, damn, I look like there's a little bit too high and just into one in a calm to lather a lot of they make a great play for us, but guys were still amazed after seeing it on the plane, the next day, the day after that, when he got an offensive player of the week, it kept being a fun reminder on how amazing Justin is for. Patrick Peterson here on the rich eisen show, obviously the eagles cowboys, they're right there in the NFC east, the northeast corridor where there's a lot of media attention for Philadelphia, the forty-niners go ahead, get McCaffrey. Those are the teams that we hear quite a bit about. And then there's the 9 and two Vikings. What's your sense of the value that people are placing in your team? And your chances to shock everybody who you think don't really need to be shocked. What do you got for me on that? Honestly, Richard, you know, all the talk about teams and who's the better team, who's the best team really don't matter at this point. You know, at the end of the day, we just want to continue doing the things that we need to do to be one of those 14 teams in the playoffs. Then from there, all bets are off, you know, because you can go back year out the year after year after year, the number one teams that's been, you know, guys who've been predicted to win super bowls. Having won the super bowls, like last year, nobody even thought the Bengals would make the playoffs. You know, the year after that, nobody thought that Tennessee would continue to put on the run that they've been putting on. Nobody's been talking about them for years, and they've been in two or three NFC one NFC championship. Winning season every year, the only thing that we want to do is worry about us. We want to continue to talk about us. You know, as long as as long as we know what we're doing, each and every week and we're collecting doves at the end of the day, we want to be talked about at the end of the season. So men talked about now is all fine and Danny with us because it really don't matter. And what do you see in a cousin's man? Well, what's happening on the plane when he takes his shirt off? What the hell's going on at 35,000 feet Patrick? What's going on here? I think we wanted to kind of up each and every one that we did. We
49ers top Saints 13-0, first to blank New Orleans since 2001
"San Francisco's defense set the tone from the opening drive, forcing New Orleans Alvin Kamara to fumble and holding the star running back to a total 13 yards rushing for the game. The mission accomplished Nick Bosa says the defense expected the saints to try to get their run game going, but shut it down. And whenever you do that, it's going to be a really good chance of making a team one dimensional. Jimmy Garoppolo through the game's only touchdown in a 13 zero victory as San Francisco became the first team to hold New Orleans scoreless in nearly 21 years. Hey, you know, it wasn't anything to write home about against the rams. But is there a better combination in the NFL right now than mahomes and Kelsey? There's tua and hill, right? To one hill. What else you got for me? Mike Wyatt and anyone he throws to? Good one, Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson. Yeah, I mean, that's obviously pretty good. Mahomes to Kelsey. That might be number one in the league too. Mike white and anyone. And anyone he throws to. Including
Chubb's TD run in OT powers Browns past Brady, Bucs 23-17
"Cleveland came through and overtime to defeat Tampa Bay 23 17. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, not surprised it was a close game and we just I really liked how our locker room responded at a bunch of moments in that game because it's hard. 60 minutes versus good football team is hard. In the extra session, Jacoby brisset through 45 yards to Amari Cooper giving Cleveland the ball at the box three. From there, Nick Chubb bulldozed his way to the house with 19 seconds left. The browns are four and 7, while Tampa Bay is 5 and 6, good enough for the lead in the NFC south. I'm Bruce Morton

The Conference Impact of the USC and UCLA Move
"So this is happening, obviously everybody sees what's happening, which is a trend toward two big football conferences. And my first question is, if it's only too conferences, are these even conferences? I mean, it's the AFC and NFC ain't it. It's more like that, than a conference, right? Yeah. And even beyond that sort of level, right? So I guess part of what's going to have to happen with this is we're going to see the whitling away of all these schools that have been honestly not earning their keep in these major conferences, right? So the big 12 after Texas at Oklahoma left, right? All basically mid major football programs. I mean, one of those schools is one of rose bowl in the last decade, but my bad. I forgot. I hear you on that. I forgot I forgot. Sorry. I hear you on that side by that. But you look at what's left, right? There's nobody left to anchor a conference. Like you think about when they started the big 12, the expectation was that conference would be anchored by Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, right? Like that was the guess. Really, it was Texas and Nebraska because Oklahoma had been down at that point. All of them are gone right now. The PAC 12 now no longer, they really only had one what I would call true anchor school, which was USC. Now they don't have one of those. Like you look at the pack 12 now. That's a lot of little bitty stadiums, man. That's a lot of stadiums that people don't go to and you just lost the best recruiting territory for your whole conference. Like, that's my thing when I look at the big 12. Big 12 ain't got players no more. Even if they have schools, there are no players. Right. Well, I mean, the thing that I think about with the PEX 12, there's sort of shocking to me, is that everybody is saying that about USC and UCLA, and obviously it's right. Like you do not want to lose LA that recruiting playground, that media market. It's an irreparable blow. You probably can not recover from it. But man, we really are just saying that Arizona Arizona state. I mean, Phoenix is a top ten top 11, 12 market. Nobody cares? I mean, seriously?

"Can have him. But Robert, should the forty-niners keep him? Yeah, when you say, should they keep him? Yeah, they should keep Jimmy Garoppolo Garoppolo and here's why. He just outplayed Aaron Rodgers and got you to the NFC championship game. Now, I understand that they might not love him with the ball in his hand at the end of the game, but he has one games. I think they've won three times as many games with him as a starter as they have when he's not out there due to injury. So for Jimmy Garoppolo, I just look at this situation and I say, what's the next step for Trey Lance? They went to NFC championship game. They've been to a Super Bowl. So it's really Super Bowl or failure for Trey Lance at this point. And I don't think that's really fair to him. He needs to play and develop. And that would be unnecessary pressure on him as a quarterback in the most pressurized position in all of sports. When the chiefs did it with Patrick Mahomes and Alex Smith, they lost in the wild card round that previous year before mahomes took over and that way it was an easy transition from a homes to go out there and play freely. So should they keep him? Yes, if he gives them the best chance to win, they should keep Jimmy Garoppolo if they don't think that, then they should go with Trey Lance, but only one person knows that. The person who's been with them every single day, and that's Kyle Shanahan. Man, why are we acting like you can't have two quarterbacks? I don't understand what the issue is. No, you shouldn't have two wives. I don't know who else who will ever want to live with that anyway. But you have two quarterbacks. If Jimmy jeans right now is giving you the best chance to win, then you can rock with it. Look at kind of holiday season unfolded and how we've watched Jimmy G continue to find ways to win football games. The Terry Bradshaw said it best. Terry Bradshaw said, you could lose with me, but you can not win without me. And that absolutely has been this San Francisco's forty-niners as long as Jimmy G has been there. I'm telling y'all, there's something going on with Trey Lance and I'm not saying that he's not ready. I'm not saying that he's not developed. I'm just saying that he's a little bit inexperienced. And when we watched him play in the game, some of that athleticism that we talked about pre draft didn't really pop off the screen to me. It wasn't Josh Allen. It wasn't RG three. It wasn't Lamar Jackson. And those were the things that we were thinking that he was going to be used to be a dual threat, much like Cam Newton when he came into the league. We didn't see that. And I do, I do think he has to grow as the passer. So if Kyle Shanahan is focused on, we need to win and win right now. I'm not ready to have to develop him while on the field. The Jimmy G can stay there. No, is it the smart thing to do? Hell, I don't know, but I know winning is a lot more fun than losing. Yeah, RC, I agree with a lot of what you just said, but the fact of the matter is the only way for Trey Lance to develop is to play. Now, when you talk about his athleticism, I had a meeting with Kyle Shanahan when I was a rookie. And it was a couple of games into the year. And he told me he said, because of your dynamic ability as a runner and your actual top end speed, you're going to be able to do things that other guys aren't able to do from an athletic standpoint. Trey Lance is not at that level. He's not a Lamar Jackson Randall Cunningham or myself type of speed guy. He's more of a Tim Tebow. Donovan McNabb Cam Newton. Those guys can still run, but they're not just blowing by guys on the field. So I think that when Kyle Shanahan creates this offense, there's going to be more movement. There is going to be more play action passes and Trey Lance is more going to be using his legs like a Joe burrow as opposed to a Lamar Jackson. Yeah, you know, it's a good point, rubber, because I think we never really saw an offense this season understandably so with Jimmy G still there that was really built for what freelance could do. I'd be interested in a larger sample size. Time for one more thing before we go. Guys, Tom Brady better be on his best behavior. How about him retweeting this video of giselle? She's out there doing jiu-jitsu and she's rocking it. He says his days of leaving the dishes in the sink or numbered. It's interesting to imagine them doing their own dishes. The baby they do. What do you think about this, RC? It looks like she's really good. Well, the first thing. The first thing you know gisele ain't doing no dishes. Tom ain't doing no dishes ain't nobody with the last name breeze or a bunch of dude dishes in there. Secondly, her skill is high levels. Like, she ain't Amanda Nunes, but she could definitely protect herself against that dude that's teach itself defense in Detroit. So she'll be okay. I love it. I need to learn some jiu-jitsu. Who wants to teach me? Hey, we'll see you tomorrow on NFL live..

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Gives Ridiculous Response to Maskless Photos
"This Los Angeles mayor one of the big dummies that insisted on lockdowns and shutdowns and punishing people and mandates and mask mandates and businessman. Well, he got caught posing for a bunch of pictures, along with that horrific governor they have in California. Gavin Newsom posing maskless in big crowds at the big NFC championship football game. When garcetti got caught because Magic Johnson tweeted a series of photos from the event. Magic Johnson was the bad guy here. He should have never said on any pictures. But he did and look you there. Eric garcetti, where's your mask? Where's your mask bear garcetti? You're making everybody else be punished for not wearing a mask? Where's yours? You're not letting your firing people. People can't go eat. People can't do things. Oh, you have an explanation, Merrick garcetti? Well, do tell. Let's listen. And this is not a this is not a comedian. "All last year. And so again, I want to repeat this because it's very important people hear this. The way I look at it, in almost every single game, the Giants play this year. The other team is a better quarterback than them. The Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is a bottom of the barrel quarterback in the NFL in my opinion. And I'm losing faith in him. I think the offensive line is going to struggle. And I don't care how good your defense is. I don't care how many running backs you have. I don't care how good you're receiving core is. If you're a quarterback is Daniel Jones, and if Daniel Jones your quarterback is getting hit every play because he's getting sacked and he dishonest back. It's not gonna matter. And the quarterback's wrong, the augmented line is bad. For me, that's enough to say, I'm out. I just do not have faith that the New York Giants are going to have a good season this year. In spite of the fact that they've got some good players, so defense is growing. They got the right coach. I don't hate everything on this team. But I do believe that the Giants general prioritizes the wrong things. His philosophy and how to build a team is when I fundamentally disagree with, I think he's wrong on very many things. And when the Giants offense is bad this year, and when the Giants have a bad year and lose a lot of games, we'll look at Dave got him and say, well, he's to blame. He got the wrong quarterback. He shouldn't drive to take on Barkley when he did, and he should have built the offensive line instead of what he did and this team that we're going to see this year. I think I have a hard time winning tough games when they're quarterback is outshined by other quarterbacks on opposing rosters. And they're off as a line is terrible. It's a man, I don't know. I'm not trying to be not sure to rain on anybody's parade, but I have the New York Giants going four and 13 this year. Maybe they fired Dave gettleman, maybe not. The Giants front office, we'll see. They're a classy organization. I don't hate them. I don't hate this team. I don't hate the franchise. I feel bad for the fans, actually. But I think they need a new general manager in my opinion. And the team they have this year is incapable of winning really, really tough games, like they're going to play a lot of this fall. Okay guys, I'm going to take a short break when I return, we will do the NFC west predictions. That's the LA rams, the Arizona Cardinals, the forty-niners, Seattle. My name is Akshay Muller. I'm going to.

"First of all, the Giants have a tough schedule. They play Denver week one that could be a tough game, Denver has a great roster. They play Washington twice this year or they'll pay the rams, Kansas City, Tampa, Miami, the LH chargers who are a team that I think could win their division and maybe even win a Super Bowl like the Chargers are way better than people realize Dallas looked pretty good week one. New Orleans is tough, the Raiders are not an easy win. So I look at game after game after game like, man, this is a really tough schedule for the New York Giants, and people don't believe that, but that's what I see. Now, here are my two biggest problems though with the Giants. Number one, it's a twofold concern. I know I said, too. I guess it's really three. The schedules hard my second concern though about the Giants is that I don't believe in their young quarterback Daniel Jones. I have no faith. I just we can argue on that. I don't think he's the right guy for the future of their franchise. And I think that's going to be a problem moving forward. How many games this year through the Giants play and where the other team has a better quarterback than them? It's almost every game on the roster. Like that's a huge problem. You can't overlook. Now the other problem is I don't have any faith in this offensive line. The Giants have all these receivers and skill players and say, quote, Barkley, and it's like they forgot about the offensive line. I just fundamentally do not like how this offense was built. I do not agree with the strategy and the philosophy of the Giants general manager, Dave gettleman. I believe that winning and doing well enough and starts with the office of line. Like lineman, win games, you need a good offensive line, and you also need a good defensive line. Being good up front really, really matters. And this team, the way they've drafted the way they've made moves of the recent years. It seems like the giant's front office does not put a value on offensive lineman. And I really don't understand that. It's very weird to me. They made all these moves. They went out and got Kenny gallaudet. They drafted saquon Barkley running back. They got kadir's Tony at receiver. And in the last four years, the New York Giants have had 6 first round picks. Three of those 6, by the way, were top ten picks. And so in the last four years, the Giants have had an opportunity. To completely rebuild their offensive line..

"Three, two, one, oh, my goodness. Good morning, good afternoon. Whatever it is for you, I hope you're having a fan, tastic day. My name is Zack Schaumburg. This is strong opinion sports episode 300 and 79. We are banging through these episode of numbers very, very quickly. I remember 300 earlier this year. I can't believe how many it goes by so fast. Today we are doing NFL predictions for the NFC east and the NFC west. Now I want to share a personal note before we get in today. I think today is the first day in quite a while where I've had a really hard time with YouTube comments. And I normally it's sports. It's not life or death. And I think to some degree that it actually makes people a little bit meaner because they know they can say whatever they want. And it doesn't really matter. I don't know. I'm having a hard time today. I love my job very much. I love creating. Like my favorite thing in the world is getting up at four a.m., sitting at my desk, writing something. I feel good about it. I'm excited to put out, and I think something I think is clever or thoughtful and I love love, love watching sports. That's like my passion. And it's crazy. People are so mean like so angry. And prediction season is always hard for me because I kind of get it. If you're a fan of a team, you invested something into this team and you're hopeful and you're excited and you're looking forward to having a good year and then if you hear news that your team isn't going to win in the Super Bowl or might have three losses more than you think or whatever. You feel like I'm just crapping all over something you're excited about. And that would suck, right? If I love love, love the movie Star Trek. And if someone just trashed in the movie Star Trek, I would be very, very sad. And so I get it. But I've had this thought all day, and I'm like, I'm trying to understand the mind of people who are really, really angry and mean on social media. And then I'm like, well, what about the people at the grocery store or this or that? And I realized I think a lot of people are just let me back up. You know, and I'm rambling here, but I want to start this way. I really do want to start with a human element. You know, I get really, really angry in my life. And I'm working on it. I'm trying really hard. And going to therapy and doing journaling, I've realized, like, I get angry when I'm sad. Then it's easier to be sad than it is. It's way harder to be sad. Sad is really vulnerable and hard for me. Angry? Oh hell yeah. I can bring it on. And I think a lot of people are just really, really having a hard time in life. And the people that are mean on social media or YouTube comments or whatever, are people who are having a hard time and going through something and sports are like the good part of their day that they look forward to. And so when they hear someone like me, talk about their favorite team, I would imagine that hurts. And so I had to talk through that before we start the show. Except, I've been having a hard time with that. And I just have to say it out loud. It helps me feel better about it. I love making content man. It's my favorite thing in the world. And I actually probably my least favorite part of my job is putting stuff out. I hate editing a hidden one uploading takes..

"Right now it's Kevin king, who is often injured and plays very, very inconsistently. The hope is that the guy they drafted in the first round Eric stokes from Georgia. I believe from George. I might be, I think Georgia, I know AJ Terrell. I don't know, I'm getting a marker for you. I've done so many predictions. Anyway, the drafted Eric stokes in the first round, and the hope is that as a year goes on, he will emerge into the starting number two corner. So far he's not the starter, but we'll see as the year goes on, that is probably the weakness of their team is that they have a couple of rookies on the offensive line. They have a bit of an unknown at the number two corner spot, which that's very little, but that's enough to say, well, hey, they're not quite as good as Cleveland, who is really deep and really, really good or Tampa who literally does not have a hole on their entire roster. But again, you're assuming Aaron Rodgers can make up for it with his immense talent. Remember, he's an NFL MVP, one last year. Now edge rushers Preston Smith and zider Smith need to bounce back that a down year last year. I do also wonder if 2019 first round pick rashawn Gary is gonna get in the mix and make an impact this fall. Currently, and technically, he is behind Preston Smith on the depth chart. Keep your eye on that. Will a former first round pick pan out? We're showing Gary and have an impact this year, getting after opposing quarterbacks. Now, look, on paper, this team is really, really good. Again, rookies on the offensive line. Number two corner, minimal concerns, but again, I just said it a minute ago. Your thinking that, hey, our veteran, MVP quarterback, Hall of Fame quarterback is going to get us over the hump and help us win enough games to get past the Tampa Bay or beat a Cleveland and the Super Bowl beat up buffalo, something like that. Now, you also have to wonder, can they get pressure on opposing quarterbacks? We'll find out. Those are kind of the weaknesses and the question marks of this team. There's not very many. This is a really complete, really good football team. The question is, again, can their NFL Hall of Fame MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers get them over the hump and beat a really good roster? Or this just be another year? So many years in a row where the packers have had a really good deep playoff run and fell just short. Is this a year where they get over the hump? Or is this going to be another NFC title appearance and a loss? We will find out, but I think it's very possible to packers win a Super Bowl this year. They are contenders. The question is can they get over the hump? And also, can they avoid injuries? Okay. Man, let's talk about Minnesota. This.

There is different type of nfc forum tax which are either better suited for just simple data exchange or there's other tanks included which are required. For highest security implementations there is tax included that have a ferret shielding so you can attach to mental endzone. My one about jalen hurts is he's very casual with the football and he's gonna turn it over and he does. He does turn the ball over too much. But he's also a big time playmaker like in that arizona game. He had three fumbles but didn't lose any of them but he rushed for sixty three yards. Threw for three thirty eight. Like i cannot discount the philadelphia eagles from being a contender in this division. I cannot. I cannot dismiss the giants as potential contenders. In the i get that i get that i mean i saw enough of daniel jones and if barkley is healthy to believe that the giants will be formidable But the eagles. I just didn't see that coming. I don't think we ever see anything coming in the nfc east. I did this. You know You know the nfc east hasn't had a division repeat winner since the eagles in two thousand and four and since two thousand and four there have been sixteen division winners and twelve of them before the season started were predicted to third or fourth in the division washing washington's. Three division wins. You know going back to two thousand twelve twenty fifteen than last year. They were picked last two in the division each of those three seasons and they won the division the instinct thing about the eagles what kind of shape both teams going to be in when they play each other. We don't see the eagles till december nineteen to really good point. It's another fascinating part about this quirky. Nfl schedule this year. Not not the seventeen eighteen and you play twice in three weeks. It the cowboys between the seventeenth games been added as we know. But it just refreshing. Everybody's memory washington plays the giants in week. Two on september sixteenth and then doesn't play another division game until three months down the road and they finished the season cowboys. Eagles cowboys eagles. Giants five straight division games. The eagles in their schedule this year. Finish with washington. Giants washington cowboys. The cowboys finish their schedule. This year with Washington giants washington than they. Play the cardinals then. They finished with the eagles. The giants schedule finishes with fewer division games. But still they go cowboys. Eagles bears washington so basically from mid-december until the second week in january. You're just going to have all of these. Nfc matchups now the people that always say you know jusque yet to focus on the division. You gotta win. You gotta have a winning record in the division. No e- you. You have to have a winning record with the other. Eleven games you play you play eleven against non division teams six in the division you can go four and two in the division and ended up in last place See but but by the time you get to that point unless you know teams get really injured or teams. Just aren't what we think. I think it's going to be all bunched up. Coin into those final five weeks of the season. You know you'll have eleven weeks in. I mean you might have something like six five six five five and six five and six going into those final five games. That wouldn't surprise me at all if we end up with that and it could make for a really exciting month with that said with that said the best teams in the nfc overall the true super bowl contenders aren't in that division. It might be exciting for us but the packers and the buccaneers and the forty niners in the rams at that point may already have instead of six wins they may already have ten and headed towards you know field games in a much better chance in a much better path to the super bowl but who knows it's an nfl season. Anything can happen. I i just wanted to make the point. That i personally believe the. Nfc east is much more wide open than most people do. There isn't any team that i would. You know that. I would eliminate as a possibility of winning it in the team that most people completely dismiss as a possibility philadelphia I agree with ross tucker. I think they're underrated. And i think jalen hurts ease A guy to watch he makes plays and he has played in a lot of big games during the course of his football career and he played well last year at the end of the year with a porous team around him that teams healthier. And it's better this year than it was last year round him now he stinks. Think the only thing about the eagles is new coach. I was just gonna say now if he stinks or if. The coach is really bad nick serianni and his staff. Well i mean you know that would derail the rest of the rest of the roster which is pretty damn good. They got a good roster. Their defense could be nasty this year. Really nasty it's older than washington's defense more experienced also older. I mean how. Many more great years of fletcher cox. Are we going to get. I mean he is still in my opinion. You know atop five ish kind of defensive player you know. But he's he's gotta be in his thirty s at this point a certainly approaching it. Hold on to tell you. He's thirty years old going to be thirty one in the upcoming season but instead bring layers he'll be as old as the washington football quarterback right But then in seven years. The washington quarterback will be much older. Do you have anything else. I got two things. I want to get to okay One of them is last night. Joe banner you follow banner right former philadelphia General manager right in cleveland And i liked joe. I follow stuff. I like what he does. He's been on the show on the podcast before. Okay and he tweeted. What happens when you take out. Greatest sports writer and have them write a book about the most treating store intriguing story and reason sports history. You got a phenomenal book. That every sports fan should read. Now he's referring to a book by seth wicker sham who is a terrific reporter called..

"We bring back aaron shots football outsiders to focus on the nfc this time and obviously if you want to check out the afc go back to last week and what he'll we've in some of that obviously to provide context when discussing the nfc. We'll have you back. Man hey good to be back. Let's hit the other teams this week. We had the afc last week and now now we have real preseason games coming up. We just had the hall of fame game so far. Now we get real preseason. Yeah no it's very a ton of opportunities for bettors as well as You know it's just everyone's favorite pastime. You have the at misinformed ranting on twitter saying oh full degenerate if you bet in these games and then the other people like navy it. I think it's easier to make money and the preseason if you do the homework than it is the regular season but let's let's look at season-long projects and that's why we have you here million simulations for the season. Nfc what were some of the things that surprised you as you ran your modeling and it's like well that doesn't match what i assumed or my test was was was planning on. This does not this matches my test. But it's still sort of amazing how high they came out. So we do. A million simulations for our football outsiders almanac available now by the way through football outsiders dot com with the f. o. Plus subscription you get the electronic version or you can get the book itself on amazon dot com right now Tampa bay came out. It's the best team in the league. And it's not even close because they came out with the number one projected devi view a and thirtieth projected. Schedule okay so top team. And thanks in large part to the easiest or one of the easiest schedule yes they are number three in their offense of projection and number six than their defensive projection. And yeah number thirty and schedule so like they are the top team in the nfc. Like if you look at our projected average number of wins and You know understand that we we do have a problem like i think. Most systems that are based around mathematical regressions are projections. Come out a little too. Close to five hundred. The real spread of wins ends up being a little bit wider than this but we have tampa bay at eleven point one. We don't have another. Nfc team above ten.

"Come true and now it's time for dinks and dunks. I'm getting paid for this right. I'm gonna go pretty rapid fire question number one should the seahawks extend wayne brown. Yes you have to extend him because you have to keep us happy whether it makes sense like from a salary cap situation are a football plane situation because he is getting older. I'm signing him no matter what because if you don't what is russ say to that. And what does he do. You also awesome. I know he's old. And i know you shouldn't give extension to dudes like what is he like thirty six or something. But like he's he has sustained such a high level of play that like he does feel like the andrew whitworth got type you know. And by the way he brings nine andrew whitworth in past Amongst tackles trent williams. Who's getting up there. And he's still very good and he was a guy that relied on athleticism like he's. He was good technique wise but he was like a freak athlete at the beginning career in his game. Hasn't fallen off either. So i think at that position. You can afford that risk. Yeah actually if it means keeping your franchise quarterback happy okay outside of the box. Let's say all this stuff all the stuff we've been talking about. That could go wrong with the bucks happens. Who's more likely to win the nfc. The rams are the packers. I'm gonna take the packers. I've been kind of low on the ranch this off season i think. Nfc west so that hurts. That's another good point. I i really think that losing staley is going to matter. More than people think. I know that donald in ramsey are the two probably the two best defensive players in the league maybe the best offensive players of the last five years but i just think it it was going to take a step back anyway. Like statistically there's gonna be regression what they did with that scheme on early downs. I think it allowed them to do stuff on third third down. And i don't i don't know if they're going to get to that point where they're going to be able to get that creative on third down and that's really where they shine like their third down efficiency was out of this world. Don't think they're to be able to have those favorable down in distances again. Fair question three are gonna watch bachelor in paradise had. Did you see the preview watching it. Did you see like. I'm actually hyped for because we didn't get it last year right and they were like a historic bachelor in paradise. It's been two years. Can't wait the one. The one snippet that has me excited was who is the guy that dressed up as the cat. in this past forgot his name ari. Yeah he's like drunk on the couch and singing the almost paradise song. I don't know if i could sing it on here because you might get sued. But he's like singing the theme song to the show drunk on a on a couch. And i really want to see how that happens. Some did you see Beca the bachelorette is going on. I was surprised by that. Didn't see that in the carts her did she leave the the problematic i d- they broke up a while ago. Catch up Kyle shanahan speaking bachelor. I made a joke about this. God someone told me. Stop referencing your own tweets on your own podcast. But it's relevant kyle. Shanahan said that trey lance. He's like a like. I could see him playing like he's going to play and it to me reminded me of like the bachelor when they say i could see myself falling in love with you. I'm falling in love with you. And that sort of progression right okay. So now the latest is that trey like might be used in some packages. Do you think that stupid like does that ever work. I was thinking maximum. No it's never work remember. What the ravens lamar. And it was just like so awkward whenever he was on the field goals. Like what are they doing. It doesn't work all that well with tastes hill. Either and he's like the guy right. He's like the guy you point to you and be like that's the motto. We're going after no. Just let him play this play. And i feel like i'm falling in love with you thing was like a big deal on this season. So maybe kyle was watching you. Pick up some. Wasn't it bigger this season it has been man has like i made a role for myself. I'm going to wait. Until the finale say i love yemi starting okay team. Great or team gregor katie. If you wanna find out you can check on my appearance on the vile files where i broke down the finale with nick vile check it out. I tunes all right last question as always comes from lenny lane knows you for the panthers. He wants to know if it would hurt more if justin feels or teddy bridgewater outperforms. You're starting quarterback. Oh i'm already ready for both of those things that happen to hurt more. If sam darnold was good so messed up. I don't want optimism about this team ever again..

"Is not an aaron boone. Problem and this is not coaching staff problem. That's my opinion. I've said it before and i'll say it again. This is not. They're doing what they need to do. But we're not getting the results that we need and so They've got my support. We're in this together and making recommendations with any of these people now yankees were on a four game losing streak until last night they get eleven five win over the angels this and the yankees are forty one and thirty eight their fourth in the division. They're seven and a half games behind the red sox and you know key that's always usually the dreaded vote of confidence when the owner or gm or are you got my full support. It is like two weeks later. kick it I hate to see it happen to my man boonie but he might have got the kiss death and right theater near. I'm just saying that they can climb out of the whole right. I mean they may be able to climb out. I mean seven and a half games is not that many at this time point. This is point in the season. It's really not the problem. I think is the roster though. I think when you look at the yankees that's the issue for them and it just seems like they can't beat the red sox this season at all so that's probably the bigger problem for them How about this co eyeliner out for game. Six the clippers superstar. He's gonna miss it of course with phoenix with that night. That right knee sprain. The team officially has listed him out. Zoo bach. He was out for game five. He is listed as questionable with the right. Knee mc l. sprain now leonard's been out since suffering that knee injury in game four of the clippers second round series with the jazz game. Six is tonight nine eastern here on. Espn espn radio coverage starts on espn radio. And i think jay this question for you. What do you make of the quiet injuries. I'm starting to get a little bit concerned because kawhi has them in the stranglehold for kawai. It seems like it feels like for a guy that doesn't really say a lot. There's a lot that comes with kawai. And i guess that's the question that the clippers organization will need to ask themselves. This lack of communication is a report out. There that's true about kawai and their medical staff or they on the same page. I know key. And i got into this a little bit the other day and i know. Nba guys get hurt. It's just rare for me when i'm in the staple center to see a guy who has injury not be somewhere in a percent the around the team. I'm not saying you have to be right on the bench but are you two rows behind the bench are you. Are you courtside on that point where they meet a ninety degree angle you. Are you sitting somewhere close to be with your team. The fact that he's in the box is just peculiar to me. I don't really understand it. So i guess that's the question you know if you'd or clippers organization like hey. We're seeing what paul george is doing. We're seeing guys like terrence mann. Step up we. And i know why is the missing link. He's one of the most talented players we have on earth. But let me start looking at some of these other issue. Is that worth having dealing with as you manage the process with the clippers organization. So legit question. You have to ask yourself but you knew when you signed him up. You knew that all those stories came out from toronto. You know. I want the private jet service he lives in. San diego ain't like living in la. So we commuting from san diego that that was why mantras herald is not with the clippers anymore. Because he was mad. That co i can report make a lot of times made the team bus late because he would get there when he wanted to get there. He practiced when he wanted to practice. But you knew that when you signed him. That's why he lived. O'brien but there's something about knowing it coming in and then actually witnessing it for so for yourself you know what i mean. It's like not to give an analogy but like hey like back in the day when you're younger i want. I want to date somebody. Like i want to date her. And you're like oh. Hey here's what her comes with like. It's not going to happen to me. And then you get like this is different. I see now firsthand. Like that's what the scenario kind of feels like to me a little bit like that never happened to me. I never had that problem player. But what's the problem with. Elijah was the issue. You say you don't know if you won't like what's the issue like. How do you not want a top five player in the league. I don't 'cause he decided that he wants to deal with his own medical staff. If in fact is the truth okay. He's going to deal with his medical staff. The man heard is. We don't know what the truth is key but i would say i'm assuming that that's what that's let's assume assume because i'm not i'm going to assume that. Let me assume that. Not you meet that. He wants to deal with medical staff. Okay he could deal with medical staff. This assume that he doesn't wanna stand on the sideline because he doesn't want somebody falling into him. Or whatever case is okay. Go sitting box. What's the problem. Me being on the sideline becomes an extra distraction. I'm not become a distraction with you..

"Welcome back to the show during the only nfl pockets of one of the hosts things. Saquon barkley should win comeback player of the year solely because of his last name. That's many times. I am joined today by guys gonna talk to me about saquon barkley and a number of other players in the nfc because it is division previews time and i am delighted to be joined by the one and only been so lack. You know him from his last appearance on this podcast from his work with draft network and bleeding green nationwide covers the eagles and from being like the precocious. You're like the little man tate of nfl twitter on. I'm so so upset. You said this is my good buddy. Michael cast bryce roster sports info. Solutions have been calling me little man tate for months sow and fuse to watch the movie. Because i'm pretty sure. I'm being insulted by not always get okay. Well they're going to be Pleased his pie when they here. S and now. I officially have to watch this movie. That i hadn't even heard of until i was referred to as little mandate is incredible. Because you're like very young but you also just use the phrase pleased as pie. So i'd like it's like a time machine or both younger than me and older than me at the same time. It's like a weird compression of the space time. Continuum tape is a tate is a genius. I don't care who plays him but his mom was jodie foster. We rented it when i was kid because we only watch movies that we rent it from the library and i liked it a lot so you should check it out. I think you would like it. It's a comment. It's a good thing to be little mandate and it's another ninety s related content thing that i just simply don't know you know but i don't think anyone's going to hold that against you know it's not like you say about the bell or you know boy meets world all the other things. You don't know. Ben what you do know is the nfc east. And that is why. You're here and i am. I love this time of year. Because i love looking ahead to the upcoming season and feeling hopeful and i whenever i do. This exercise is such a self agonizing term. Whatever whenever i do these division previews. I always come away with a more complicated view of these teams. Then i came out. I i tend to come away thinking more often than not that. The outcomes are less obvious Sometimes it's very obvious like you'll do a division like nfc. South's spoiler is the bucks are probably gonna win. But the east i really think could be a fragrance. It's there's.
