Monday Night Football (MM #3904)

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. Back in the 1970s, when ABC created Monday Night Football, with Howard Cosell and Don Meredith and Frank Gifford, it was all the rage it was revolutionary. It changed the game of professional football. I talked a couple of months ago where I thought the game of well, not just professional football, but sports broadcasting in general changed thanks to the new mega cast that ran most Mondays on ESPN2. That's Peyton Manning and his brother Eli, basically, while hosting a party, I guess you'd say, with guests popping in and out and kind of talking about the game, we're watching the game, but it's not really the play by play, and I kind of don't know what to do with myself tonight because they're not on. They're not on every game this season. They're not hosting every game, but I found that I watch more Monday Night Football now than I ever have in my entire life. And that includes years where I had to go host Monday Night Football parties when it worked in radio. It's changed the way I watch sports. And again, I've watched more Monday Night Football this year than I have in well forever. I think it's going to change a lot of things. It'd be interesting for me to see NASCAR kind of try the same thing.

The Most Insane Leftist Responses to the Rittenhouse Verdict

"Excuse me, the daily wire. Collected, they listed. We're going to post this, Mike online dot com. The most insane leftist responses. To the rittenhouse verdict. President Biden, while the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included, we must acknowledge the jury has spoken. What do you mean you're angry and concert? What are you angry about? What you wanted this kid's head on a platter? Is that what it is? Self defense isn't supposed to be self defense? How about Gavin newsham? This nutcase, governor, America today, he said, you can break the law, carry around weapons built for a military. Shoot and kill people and get away with it. That's the message. We've just sent to armed vigilantes across the nation. You see, newsham, these kooks never condemn the rioters or the looters. No, no, no, no. The guy that had a gun in defect was trying to protect a business and was defending himself. He's the bad guy. Not the pedophile trying to kill him. No, no. He's the good guy. How about governor J B pritzker, of Illinois? This classic. He heard about Newsom evidently instead hold my beer. Pritzker said, carrying a loaded gun into a community 20 miles from your home and shooting unarmed citizens is fundamentally wrong. How about the congressional black caucus? Here was their statement. It is unconscionable our justice system would allow an armed vigilante who traveled to Kenosha Wisconsin and killed Joseph rosenbaum Anthony huber and the wounded gauge grows gross Croix to go free. Colin Kaepernick. He said, well, but I can do you better. We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, ha, let the boy be black, he said, and it would have been life. Hell he would have had his life taken before this BS trial. Sad. House judiciary committee chairman Jerry Nadler. These are not insignificant people. This is a very prominent Democrat. He said, quote, this heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by the Department of Justice.

"nascar" Discussed on NASCAR America

"Multiple ways to psych yourself up or psyche the other people up and things don't work out. I think eventually it begins to play on your head. But be totally honest with everybody out there. Denny is a Hall of Fame, NASCAR driver. Championship or no championship. It's become such a personal quest for him now. It has nothing to do with anything else. It's a personal quest for Denny. DJ your thoughts on Denny Hamlin. Yeah, I mean, he's very he's so solid. He gets himself in that position every year and to be quite honest. I mean, when you get to the final four, you have to have basically a perfect race. And they didn't have their car or didn't have it to Denny's liking at the beginning. And so they they took time to get it to that. It looked like at one point, if we would have finished with the long run before that late caution came out that Danny might have had a shot at Martin Truex Junior. I don't know that he could have done it if he would have even got to it. But he had that opportunity. Can he, I think that he can still compete for championships. I know he's been doing this a long time. But I've really believed that a championship will come his way. And for someone that has won a championship and knowing how much that meant to me, not only who my career, but for four my mindset and for those around me and I know his mom and dad were huge and everything that happened with Danny as far as putting money out there for him to go race and finally get noticed. I think it would be a wonderful thing for that family to enjoy. So I really hope that he's able to enjoy that at some point in time. And I think there's still plenty of time for Denny Hamlin to make another run in a championship, no doubt about it. DJ stick with you and ask you about Martin Truex Junior, is he though running out of time and running out of shots to be able to win a championship? You know, I heard that a sad a lot. I think he's 41 years old. I believe it's correct. Well, I'm glad that nobody said that whenever I was 43 before I won my championship. Things were all over. I don't know why you're out here trying to win a championship. But you know, I don't believe that. I think the biggest factor that I look at is not his ability, his talents and the want to want to continue.

Here's What the Viral 'Let's Go, Brandon' Chant Actually Means

"So it's amazing how some people are coming up to me and they say Charlie, I don't know what, you know, let's go Brandon is. It really after all this, you still don't know? Okay, so for the last couple months, if you haven't noticed our country has fallen apart. And we've been covering that rather extensively here in this program and what you can do about it. And so in addition to all of a sudden, the sport where was the first time that started at like an old miss game or something, I think that's where the first FJ started. And so people were pretty upset. I think you know what this started after the Afghanistan thing. After the Afghanistan thing, it was a it was a step too far. You give $85 billion a weapons to the Taliban, you allow them to take over the country, we give up Bagram air base, all these questions related to Afghanistan and how we got out of there. All of a sudden people said, you know what? I wanted the war in Afghanistan to be over. This is a disgrace. This is awful. This is an insult to all the people that gave their lives in Afghanistan. And that was kind of the line. And as that being the line, people then started to chant at these games. I'm not going to say it on air because we're FCC regulated and we're also we're also a child friendly a family friendly program. F J B or F Joe Biden. Now I'm not one for swearing, I actually try not to do it. We have like a no swearing rule on our team. We don't like it. And that's a different conversation for a different time. But I thought that that sort of word selection and diction was actually appropriate given what Joe Biden was doing to our country. And so then a certain NASCAR event happened in Florida. What was his last name Brandon what? So is the NASCAR driver by the name of Brandon and he was, I think it was in Florida or something, or somewhere in the south. And so he won and when he went to his victory speech, the reporter comes up to him and the crowd is going wild, and the crowd is chanting F Joe Biden, F Joe Biden, live on television. And so then he the guy Brandon is kind of like enjoying it, whatever, and the reporter says, oh, they're all saying, let's go Brandon. Even though it wasn't even close to what they were saying. And so then it kind of became this Internet meme culture joke, and this is the power of Internet meme culture. Where everyone was texting around, let's go Brandon as kind of a substitute to this. Let's go Brandon, let's go Brandon. Now this was ignored by the activist media. This was completely and totally ignored by everyone. They thought this would kind of go away, but no, all of a sudden they now had a we now have a PG way, a totally okay way to say the graphic and the explicit in a way where it's kind of like code where everyone knows what we're saying, which is let's go brand and he's wonderful NASCAR

Anti-Biden Rap Song ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Reaches Top Spot on iTunes Chart

"So for those of you that don't know, maybe you've been, I don't know, in a coma, the last three weeks or I don't know, navigating the islands of Thailand or something, and you just haven't been really queued into the news cycle or maybe you were in honeymoon and Sri Lanka. I don't know. So there was a Nat. There's a NASCAR driver. His name is Brandon. And he's actually competing soon in Phoenix, I found that mistaken. I don't know his last name. And so Brandon won this NASCAR event, and the crowd started his name is Brandon Brown. The crowd started to chant F Joe Biden and the announcer a lot of people went and attacked the announcer. I actually think she was kind of creative and she unintentionally now gave us a non vulgar way to now say this. So then she says, oh, they're all saying, let's go Brandon. They weren't saying, let's go Brandon. And it was just so comically wrong. It was just so off of the beat and like she had to do her bastion didn't want to get an FCC complaint. She obviously was trying to keep it focused on the try to keep it focused on the sports story. Do I think she intentionally lied? Yeah, of course she did. She knew they weren't saying that, obviously. And so she knew they weren't saying, let's go Brandon. But I think she unintentionally created the movement where now et cetera. Okay, so this chant let's go Brandon is everywhere. Last night at our event, Boise, people were just coming up and chanting, let's go Brandon. And it kind of has these kind of alternate meeting. It's like it's anti media. It's anti buy it and it's all over the place. It's also pro brand. We're very pro brand. And so let's go to cut 41. Harris falconer saying, let's go brand and song has now hit the number one on itune over Adele, skinny Adele now at new skinny Adele's new song. Okay, cut 41. And as the president deals with that favorability issue, problem, disaster. The anti Biden chance, let's go Brandon, which you know are kind of code for cleaning up what they're really saying. But anyway, let's go Brandon. Now, hitting the iTunes top. Talk to hip hop songs. They now sit one and two on iTunes downloads ahead of Adele's new song. Number one and two, we're always told conservatives need to take back the culture where it's happening

"The NASA minute. With Kevin mason I've been a sports fan most of my life. Pretty much follow every sport and have my favorites. But I find, and especially this time here, it reminds me. I actually spend more time rooting against people and teams than I do rooting for my favorites. It may be because the teams I root for, coming from a Chicago background, most of my sports favorites are Chicago teams, who are pretty inconsistent. But I really noticed this around NASCAR, where I have teams that I follow and like and don't like, but I spend more time rooting against certain drivers and certain teams than I do rooting for my favorites. Now I realize I ask our race, you got 40 people, so only one can win, but you spend more time making sure the other guy the guy you hate doesn't do well. You don't want him to wreck. You just don't want him to finish well. Same thing when it comes to sports. Right now, World Series, I don't like either team. But I'm kind of glad they both went to the World Series rather than Boston and LA because I liked them even less. It's very frustrating to spend more time in sports, rooting against teams and players. It just certain people in certain sports rub you the wrong way.

"But for me, I think a red flag is something that a lot of people ignore and I think it's important as Britney said, I had a very short relationship in between the two bad one and my good one. And I just knew pretty much off the bat. I didn't think it was going to be for me because of all the red flags that I normally choose to ignore and that in the last relationship I chose to ignore because I really, really wanted it to work out. So I had selective seeing selective hearing selective feelings and I tried to suppress the things that weren't going right. Looking back on it, I think that was the biggest mistake I made. "Opening up the nascar cup series season with three wins in the opening. Twelve races martin. True ex junior went through a long dry spell when the weather warmed up. Well he's got his mojo back again. Winning the playoff race at richmond ending his summer slump a lot of tough lock and auto crashes and got caught in the rain a few times and some crazy things happen too so i felt like we brought goodspeed all summer. We had good cars for the most part other concrete tracks. Really kinda whipped us. But you never know how things are gonna go to x. Now joins teammate denny. Hamlin is around one winner. Who's locked up a spot in round two. Also clinching on points. Kyle larson trying to be one of the other nine drivers who are going to move on chase. Elliott is currently ranked seventh and fortunate to finish fourth at richmond following a problem pitstop when the reigning champ thought he had slid through his pit box so i just kind of took it upon myself to back up. Tj already hit the right side. Jack and at that point. I should know not to but obviously i wouldn't have broke the jack if i knew it was going to break the jack so i just didn't want to stop over the line. I thought that was just gonna make problems even worse so try to be cautious. Ended up hurting us. Worse after problems. At both darlington and richmond. "Who you like. This was open. Connor was going to give me a tip man. I throw me a bone here. Throw me something. You don't want golly man. I you just hate to go against those those henrik card. I'm gonna go with william byron. I think my man william byron is going to bust him all this weekend. Maybe not known as road racer. Yeah but this is a little bit different place. I think he could up front. He's gonna go. He's been fast enough. That i don't think he's a bad pick so nate. I'm gonna put you on the spot kind of race or you're going to see and who's your pick making my fantasy lineup. A little help let me have it. Okay well you know me. I'm the most conservative with three of us. So i'm just going to go straight shock and she chase elliott of course because not only is he the best precursory nascar right now. He's got a lot. I think to prove right. Now with with kyle larson really kicking by the hendrick. I think chase probably wants the spotlight back on as far as what kind of race i mean. Road courses are the new short tracks right and four mile road course with elevation changes and fast straightaways. I mean this to me should be a recipe for a classic at people talk for years. About how this historic road course. Really deserves nascar's premier series. The expanding series has been a big hit at road america. And i'm really looking forward to my first trip to elkhart lake this weekend. Because i'm expecting something memorable all that education and he takes elliott bay being strength. I mean he went out really outlet. It's a full day raising on nbc. We had indycars mid ohio at noon. And then we have cup. Cars wrote america at two. Pm it's going to be a whole excitement. i'm not going to chase elliott. I'm actually going for i think. A first time right we hang christopher belga who won at daytona up. I'm thinking there's going to be a surprise winner. I think it's time to add to the winless. Donahue it's going to be. There's some guys out there and i look right here. "I'm sure and i respect the heck out of that guy and and just marks as well all right. So let's you've driven xfinity cars and trucks. You know what the cop cars are. They're going to road america. What as a fan can we expect. What what do we need to look for up there. You know the heavy cars. You know what we're going to be the cool place. Where are they going to be the trouble spots. We're going to be the places that we need to watch for as we watch the cup cars run here for the very first time any carbon. They're actually do have some experience in in that type of car there. So it's honestly something where i think you can expect a lot of side by side racing but the track is very narrow. It's it's something that i think will affect where people wanna go. That's the straits are so long that have guys too wide already or you're gonna go. Are you gonna use the grass. I mean when i raised there and skip barbara series. When i was fifteen we did pass able in the grass there because it was a little bit too narrow so i think there's there's so many things to do there. It's all about the high speed corners as well. Don't make a mistake in the kink if guys make a mistake in the cake that's a big issue but also you're gonna put yourself in a bad position into canada corner there at the end of that straight so. I think it's going to be a great race for the cup cars. I think it's going to be something that people have been looking forward to. I think the crowd is going to really love it. And i mean i can promise you that. I actually don't know what time the race is. I plan on watching myself. Because i assume it's not the same time as ours now. It's right after a full day of racing on. Nbc indycars noon middle high. When that's over. Go back to the fridge. Refresher beverage come right back nascar. In the afternoon i appreciate. I've never been a road. America so i have a page after that bringing down so when i get up in the booth. I sound like the kink on the backstretch. Candida corner the carousel. I'm starting to get some of the all the all the different corners and stuff but we also found a gym a complete gem of tile painting. Now we see why you're kyle petty fan and all about the hair fan right here. Has some hair this athlete. Full of success. I mean i have never seen anything like that before. If that's on a shirt someone please send it my way. Because.

"Yet again. So who knows. I know there's a lot of really cool news today. I definitely want to say justin marks. That's awesome. I think justin marks honestly is potentially on his way to you know being one of those names in motor sport that we're very familiar with you've got hendrix the world gibbs row. You've got penske ganassi andretti. All those names. I honestly truly believed the justin marks is going to be one of those guys in the next twenty years. I think what he's done already in the sport as a team. Owner is fantastic. Dana suarez and his brain is very big. I can see a lot of good business being done. Incredible deals that. He's working on being involved with the natural race. I think that's that's awesome and our sports kind of mingling. Together indycar nascar. I think all that stuff is good for motoracing in general In in north. America when you heard saying on oh go ahead staying on the news of the day connor. I just wanna get your reaction to gase. Obviously huge indycar presence. What you make of that. If that would have any impact on the indycar side and also we learned today. That rina's vk your at corporate racing. We'll be back this week in a bid ohio to work with a couple of temporary drivers the last couple of races. Are you looking forward to having arenas back as well. Yeah in charlotte. And he's feeling good. I think that kids basically robot. Now he's invisible so it's it's pretty impressive but but yeah on the nasty side. I mean chips. Smart guy he. He's one in everything. He likes winners as he says. And i think he's he's still an an currently running probably one of the strongest indycar programs on the grid. Right now So you know who knows what he wants to do next. I mean i'm sure he's not necessarily pulling out of motorsport. You know what i mean. He's gonna. he's going to have some of his sleeve. That's really really cool..

"That sounds silly but i almost think that's a better business model for for major sports organization look at companies in this country. They're growing about doing right by the country and it ends up being monetize. It looks to me that track house pit bull. They're trying to have a mantra other than let's go in and i'm going to jump in right there in say for four pit bull for i spent last week. Spent a couple of days with that is a win for him. Yeah that is a win improving the community. Changing people's lives moving. The needle morally is a win for him. So sorry just wanted to do that. I'm looking forward to watching that episode. By the way as well kyle on dinner drive but yeah i mean you guys have seen it. We saw it bill at nashville and the amount of excitement that he brought just being on the grid. He tweeted in support of this announcement. Today and i haven't checked recently. But millions of people saw that because he has millions of twitter followers and he is a transcendent personality. Much the way. Cv mentioned m. mj was a huge pickup. And michael jordan was at pocono as the owner of denny hamlin's car with bubble wallace and all of these things that i think are good for the race teams. But they're definitely good for nascar as a whole because they're they're putting new eyeballs on nascar. That probably normally wouldn't be watching and deceives point about how track house navy operates a little bit differently. I think we've heard that from justin marks a lot. He views himself as a little bit of a disruptor he wants to i think viewed as a visionary. He's a very young guy and again. This is what chicken asi is talking about that. All the talk. We do about a new generation of drivers in nascar and indycar. There's definitely a new generation of owners that have suddenly come into nascar cup series and justin marks really is at the vanguard of that and tie it back to the charter discussion. I don't know if this can happen without the charter system. Being in place. And i think also with the next gen car next year is next season. That's really going to change the business model in the framework and the dynamic where you don't think you know teams will be able to be a little bit more nimble in terms of the way they operate and i think that will give Just a mark stat pathway to potentially moving the competition base of this team eventually to nashville outside of the charlotte hub. Well we're far from done discussing this major news about track house. Acquiring chip ganassi racing but motormouth isn't just a free motormouth call show. Let's have the fans call in one. Eight four four nascar nbc. We'd love to take your call and ask carl is on the line big news today sir. What you question. I'll tell you what our sport is changing. I love it. I love what you guys said. i do. I love what they're gonna do. The community performance is key in our sport. Obviously but how this nuts. How long do you guys so before we start saying track houses now. They're mega team sport. How long do you think this comes together with all the resources they get now. Well i don't know mega team. But i will say that chevrolet has been very vocal. They announced their center a couple months ago. They're changing their entire support of the chevrolet teams. So i think that helps the team. I track house when you look at chicken asi. They were what chevrolet calls one of their key partners one of their major organizations. I'm going with the assumption. When you buy a whole company that hands you become that key person and we know it's about oem support so. I think track house making this investment to cars helps them move forward now. Listen you still got to guys that. Sit in the second driver is going to be interested to see. It is but i believe much like you said. I will go on record that i didn't have running as well as i run this year. Now they outperformed my expectation. So i don't know about mega team. But why can they not continue to outperform. I think they're on their way. Yeah attitude. I think i think and carl nails it a little bit. There says his perception is now. They're in mating. And i think this has to do with perception. And.

I must say our team was not for sale. Justin simply came to me with a great offer and even a better vision for for racing. Being at this moment right now it does truly feel like just another part of a great motor sports story. There's lots of work to do for us at track house but there's also a lot of enthusiasm to do that work so i wanna thank again. Everybody helped make this come together on this project. And i want to congratulate chip on the indelible mark that you've made in the sport big news out of the nascar hall of fame today the announcement. The track house has acquired. "You go into nashville. I think so. I'm excited you know it's a place obviously at the history with and hopefully it feels just like home when we when we lied back up. Talk to kurt busch. He was concerned with tire. Wear it's cool to see this footage actually right here. It's it's been so long and one of the first places. Actually i tested at neca. Boroughs at nashville. We used to go time. this hurts. That were that was invented austin. Yeah the zipped. I learned real quick. Do not try and slide on the paint that that's pretty cool and i'm glad you took care of the guitar so that's gonna be fun. We're we're excited to get there. And i cannot wait to cecile. Their nationals can be a lot of fun. So congratulations on the good performance lately. We'll see soon at the track. National and beth. Luck this weekend on the all-star ace. Thanks for having me on guys. We'll see sit in hanging out with us. And if you make a great point are cr really on the cup side and you mentioned him specifically the early in the year you said. On the austin dillon as a driver has turned a corner and taking it to the next level. I really believe that and you look at some of us have performance of the car but it's also the execution right. Here's the thing about austin. I think a lot of people don't realize that he's a champion. He's won championships in nascar he. He's one hundred races. I think people don't recognize the successes. I don't think that's fair. And he is a good race car driver. But when you compete at the cup level you gotta take multiple steps to compete with the kevin harvick's colleges carson. And i feel like when. I see austin dillon when i see him executing on the little things are so hard to do. I see him doing that this year. I don't feel like he's feel like it's too big for him. I feel like he can handle it. Cars are better. But i feel like he has made as much of an improvement as our cars and are cr. Taking a step is as well. Nate tyler radic and they there as a company running better and you know. Jeff said this on the podcast. A few weeks ago about how welcome north carolina is really. I think experiencing renaissance here and that that are cr hub. They've got a lot of teams there. He got track house involved. You got colleague on the expanding side. "They thought we were putting up cell towers. We had such better this year man. Look i talked to ricky talked around before the season. I told them both. Look let's let's race race cars where they're supposed to be if we've got a fifteenth place race car. Let's finish fourteen fifteen. Don't try to go and get eighth or ninth and for the most part. Ricky's done an excellent job this year. A not overdrive in that race car putting yourself in bad situations and compromising his ability to finish. So i'm happy with that ryan continues to develop you know. We gotta get him. Some more sometimes helped him improve his craft. And these these these big heavy stock cars. But we're happy we're happy. Where things are we wanna get better one around a little bit better Keep finishing as much as we can around that top ten and we if we can consistently keep doing that Then we have a chance to maybe surprised some people with some places we get to the super speedways. We think we got a shot. A lot of people do But only smile a half and these. You know the bread and butter what we do in our season. We got to be smart. Not make mistakes because we can't recover as well as a lot of the big team. So i'm happy. I'm happy with the way the guys have handled themselves had a bad week in. It's anoma but that's over so we're going to move on and and hopefully we can go out and get some more top fifteen finishes brown. What happens if you guys win the race. Dee let the driver keep the million bucks or do you tell them. It's all the teams. How's that work argued two million. The problem is it's money it's already spent. But to come to a racetrack like this for Roger Penske has put together one hundred and ten million dollars facility everything here is almost perfect. We haven't heard any negatives from any of the drivers and previously owned the Michigan International Speedway Nazareth speedway and North Carolina speedway. Former NASCAR president Mike Helton says Penske's vision to build the auto club speedway has always been admirable to think that there was gonna be a race track on that piece of property took a lot of vision had always had a great deal of admiration for Roger Penske. But for. Him to see they all clip speedway potential right there in that footprint. I still every time I pull into the speedway. I still think about that moment. You would be hard pressed to find anyone more respected in the garage area than Roger Penske says competitor and friend Rick Hendrick of Hendrick motorsports. As one of my best friends, I have nothing but respect for him what he's accomplished is unbelievable role. It's unbelievable to see someone that can win and Formula one and and open wheel and and went all the championships. And do the things he thought I don't know how he doesn't. He's a perfectionist. Bobby Allison said, why don't you get Mark Martin drive your car chip on few others? When all the preferable drivers got weeded out that they got down the list got down to me. The other guys row interested in how much money they would make and how many days they had to do personal services. And Mark was interested in how many tires I would buy and how much we test and and who would work on the car after nearly two years of competition. "NASCAR news each weekday on NASCAR today midday the drafting tight races on always excelled in. So that's where I see a tremendous advantage. I think it was very important for us to get Martin into get cold both of those as as a group because they're very good at what they do. Nascar today midday Monday through Friday on the racing networks the poice of NASCAR. This is NASCAR live now back to Mike badly. We continue along this week sedition of NASCAR live at a chance to check out a publication from Forbes recently orbs release their women to watch in sports and two women in NASCAR made that list made us think about women's history and racing and their impact and Moran's Suzy Armstrong takes us through the field of women who have shared a love of racing in two thousand nineteen four named Haley Degan and Julie DC on their women in sports to watch list an honor in its own right? Many fans may have asked who were they put danika Patrick no longer racing. Many people think females are absent in the NASCAR world. Of course. They would be wrong. But it isn't just females on the track. Some of the most influential women are out of the spotlight. Busy running teams and tracks women have been. In the sport since its inception in nineteen forty eight names like Sarah, Christian, Ethel Mobely and Louise Smith all race through the nineteen fifties and sixties, but made only a handful of starts at in thirty third position, a driver that an awful lot of people will be looking at today, Janet Guthrie from New York in the Kelly services Chevrolet, many didn't think she could qualify here. Janet, congratulations. Thank you. I think it was just Klein a spun on a flat tire there a little bit before the end ties working pretty hard to get back. What I lost I gather from what they tell me that. I did it had been a full decade since women had raced in NASCAR. When Janet Guthrie took the green in the nineteen Seventy-six world six hundred at Charlotte Motor Speedway. She finished fifteenth that day higher the Dale Earnhardt while she never raced a fulltime schedule. She was the first woman to lead a Cup series race under caution in nineteen seventy seven. Shauna Robinson is on the poll. Joe Nemechek planks are on the outside. Green flag is in the air. Robinson gets the edge coming into the corner working on the outside of the racetrack. Here's David check. Try to take advantage up the turn, but Robertson lead to buy side down the back straightaway. Shauna Robinson to the outside. Check that the inside. Here's why Qualis he dives to the insight into turnover. Three three wide in nineteen Eighty-eight. Shauna Robinson became the first woman to win and as car touring series event. She was also the first female to score a poll in any of the top three series in nineteen Ninety-four while more women joined Robinson on the track during the ninety s it was all in the lower levels. No females had finished a race for a Cup series event since Janet Guthrie in nineteen eighty at Barney for the first time in fourteen years. There's a woman in the field now. Shauna Robinson made the field. We'll talk about her as the afternoon. It was by hope she has good run here today. She's very optimistic if they've got a good race car. And and she can have a good performance for you this afternoon. I don't. Ever think about the woman thing part of it? But the day in itself, it's just it's a huge boundary for me to get to the next step. I needed to qualify for a race. I needed to get that question out of out of the Mark. And I think when it came down to qualify in the fact that I stepped it up and did what I needed to do new at it needed to do. And did it and plan on doing the same thing at California? But never got to that point. So I think just the path, and I'm taking is is just this is another step in the next step is today and racing all day long. Shauna Robinson changed that in two thousand one at Michigan two years later. She would have the first all female pit crew for a truck series race at Texas Motor Speedway..

"But you know, once the Rolex twenty four hour race, there's just certain races on the calendar throughout the course of the world that mean more than other races. Do even more NASCAR drivers will be involved. This time around Cole Custer, nearly one the expenditure championship in two thousand eighteen these cars are definitely a lot of different ways. Still get the same kind of characteristics of great gang and do it Rheinland turn. So thing that, you know, Ford lets us do and kind of hang out with our, you know, for drivers and get to know them. So it'd be pretty cool to to go there and get a win Boston syndrich as an accomplished road racer who will run for Team Penske in the extended series this season. But can't wait to run the Rolex twenty four again this weekend. I think what makes it unique is there's no war. Congratulations to Christopher bell and more. Congrats to Marin zone. How how do you describe this, man? I don't know if you can it's like the energy of the Daytona five hundred and homestead all wrapped into one plus more. It's it's an unbelievable event. And you know, not just for trek fans. I mean, if you're a racing fan in general, the chili bowl should be on your bucket list, and it should be very high on that bucket list, a high priority to get to it's just it's so much fun. The racing is so great every single night. You know, it starts on Monday. Goes through Saturday. And it's some of the best racing you ever gonna see, you know, who's who of of racing general, you know, from NASCAR you had an IndyCar driver here. This year in Conor. Daly has sports car drivers here in the past. And you've got the best of dirt track racing here to all competing for the same prize at the end of the day. So it's just it's it's unbelievable. It's hard to put it into words. Just how much this means to all of us that are able to compete in and just how special it is to be a fan all your week out here. You didn't come out of here with the driller that wanted Christopher bell? Okay. That's the trophy for winning the race. But but but describe what LA how's your week out here? Yeah. You know? It's it's always hard for me Saturday night to to reflect and look at the big picture when things don't go exactly the way we wanted. But you know, all things considered a really good week had a great night on our prelims night on Tuesday. Got a heat race win and finished seventh in our our premium feature which was my best run out here tonight. The be main just didn't really have things go away. I couldn't really ever get in a rhythm and kind of got caught up in a couple messes. And a couple of driver errors there that that eventually led to a snob being able to finish. So hate that the week kind of ended on a sour note. After after we had so much momentum in so many positive vibes after Tuesday, but big picture. I only get to raise two or three times a year to to come out here. And and lock into the be main after a pre limb night. I think is is pretty respectable. Thank you postie coming up on NASCAR live. We're gonna look ahead to this weekend's Rolex twenty four at Daytona with Woody Kane and later we feature some of the great ladies of NASCAR. Come back to.

"We welcome you back to that scar live the chili bowl center stage Saturday night in Oklahoma. And there were many NASCAR drivers in attendance. Like Kyle Larson. Alex Bowman and just an all when the night was over. It was another NASCAR star in victory lane with xfinity series driver. Christopher bell mar N's St. post caught up with bell after the chili bowl Mike last week and Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was the thirty third annual chili bowl three hundred fifty some cars. And when we got done for the third straight year was Christopher bell score in the victory on Christopher congratulations in what does it mean? To you a three-time chili bowl champion man that first one is obviously going to be really special just because I was the first Oklahoma guy to win it and so long, but this one trying to think of the way to describe it, but I'm just kind of speechless here to to be able to win on the last lap like that. We're talking a minute ago. Oh, how that's moments like that. Is what creates the chili bowl? And why you know, what brings people back. Why everybody loves it? Why the drivers love it while the fans love it. So it didn't splint good not disappoint. That's for. Sure. Last left wins of you had many of those. I was trying to think about it. And I don't know if I can answer that one. I don't know how many last lap passes. I have in my in my life to win the race. So this one will this one will be p one for a while on last lap passes for sure absolutely. A will you the the driver you pass? We haven't mentioned this year was Kyle Larson and actually over the last couple of weeks. You and Kyle mixing it up down in New Zealand. I don't know rivalries. Not the word respect, I know is word to describe described that describe that back and forth union. Kyle have when you Clem aboard these type of cars. Yeah. I mean rivalry is the the correct term for what we have going on. But the difference is that we we both have. That most respect for each other. And Kyle is my number one supporter, and I'm Kyle Larson number one supporters. So it's a very unique relationship in unique situation that we're in. It's it's very very cool to be able to race with a guy that is his talented as he is and decline school beat him. I imagine that's the case certainly was one of the things we've talked about in this ticking. The NASCAR fans back a little bit here on here on NASCAR live. There's you're an Oklahoma native winning this race. And you've talked about it to all of us on our wing nation show on a rip the fund show. But why is that mean so much to you? Why is it so important to be an Oklahoma driver in win this one just because this is, you know, this is Oklahoma as big one for motor sports. We don't have a NASCAR track. We don't have. We really don't have any sprint race in here. But fortunately, we have one of the biggest races in motor sports. So this is the Oklahoma big one. You're you're getting ready to go to Daytona. Okay. The extremity series car. For Joe Gibbs racing is nothing like the chili bowl car. But is there momentum is their positive vibes? Azar positive energy that this can can can carry into the NASCAR season. I think so I think that the biggest thing is just you know, I I go out a winter. So this is kinda the the last hurrah of my durations on the off season. So I went out and winter absolutely how orphans looking over. With with Gibbs racing is you're ready to go here. You're going to couple of weeks they told. Yeah, it's looking really good. Honestly, we I I was at the shop there the week before I came here. So I haven't got to see the super put together, but I'm really excited to to get started. There you know, me and Lucas montier guy. We're working on getting me comfortable in the car. We made a sea change in the cars. So had a poor inserts, which we had a big Twitter discussion about that. How stressful it is to proceed inserts. But mine hairier guy. Did a great job getting me comfortable. And and so I'm cozy in there. Then I just got put a body on it and wrap it let's go race it. Let's go..

"This is NASCAR live now. Back to Mike Bagley. Welcome back to the acid are live one of the highlights of the off season. For many drivers is the chili bowl. It's a big deal for dirt track drivers and fans and several NASCAR drivers compete in it every year. Christopher bell is one of those drivers. But he's also the two-time reigning champion of the race MR in St. post and Tyler Burnett got to talk some chili bowl excitement with one Siebel migra few weeks out from the start of the NASCAR season. Of course. Everyone's all excited about Daytona. But the short track world and much of the NASCAR world is focused on both Oklahoma this week. It's the third annual lucasville chili bowl nationals at the expo center out there and the two-time reigning champs. Christopher bell joins us. We're going to be out there as well motoric network. A rip defense podcast caliber co host to that one. Exactly, we do the wing mission show. So we're going to be there doing shows what talk a little bit more about that. Because right now, we've got the two time and reigning champ. Of the chili Christopher balance dirty where the same man, how are you? I'm doing fantastic about yourself. We are. Well, what is there about this week in Tulsa, the chili bowl wide is this matter to you? Well, it matters me a lot just because I'm from Oklahoma. Yeah. This you know, the is the the mecca motor sports for myself because that's the biggest event that I grew up going to a lot of your check racers. It's you grow up going to these marquee events and the chili bowl that is my marquee event. So you know, it's the one race that I had circled on my goal list as a kid growing up going to the sing. So to be able to win it twice as something that, you know, I'll cherish for the rest of my life. Some of the best dirt open little racers to move onto NASCAR have won the chili bowl. Tony stewart. There's so many other ones why is your name being on that list? And also being a NASCAR. How is that cool for the NASCAR community to have a chili bowl champion, you know, being asked? Well, I think it, you know, it just promotes both sides of the. You know for me a NASCAR driver going back to the chili bowl. Right. It helps I guess, you know, bring a little bit more star power to the chili bowl and adds diversity. Because now, I'm not a fulltime dirt racer that's going back to the chili bowl and competing against fulltime racers. And and then on the other side of the fence, I'm dirt racer now competing in NASCAR. So, you know, hopefully, I give the dirt band somebody that year four on Saturday afternoons and the fans, you know, a lot of them will come up and talk to me and tell me that they cheer for me. And they watch NASCAR now because I'm in stuff like that. So I feel like, you know, between or the more crossover you get between dirt and pavement. It just helped bring the fans together to totally agree. It is going to be a lot of the NASCAR drivers are going to be out there racing all this week along the way the week beyond the race. And you've talked about a why it's so important to you. But the week I and I'm I'm a rookie. I'm going out there for the first time it's been on the top of my bucket list for the last number of years. But it's, but it's, but it's a reunion is a party. It's a festival of speed. There's some racing of describe what the week is like there in Tulsa. Yeah. It's it's a ton of fun. And you know, I'm I'm more of a race fan. Right. Like, I I go to the chili bowl because of the racing so good, but me and Tyler talk, and they're it's they're so much more attraction than just the racing. You know, there's such the, you know, everybody gets together, the camaraderie there, you get everybody from all different sorts of forms a motor sports in the middle of January. Right. So you get to meet up with people that you haven't seen for a while you're all under a roof..
