"Mean. The new disband the discussion on the fight against the new ban and how the politicians in san francisco discussed it brings up so many interesting topics About criminalizing bodies about the the the freedom of speech and So many basic Liberties and things that we take for granted. So i i wanted to include that in my project to really give people something to think about. I think many people are for walked by it. and sometimes i look at the protesters in san francisco as like a future future race. I mean some few future people which are not in this time and hopefully it will sink in for others later on. It's i mean when a warm person throws her clothes off in the city hall and like five. God's armed guards throw blankets to cover the naked body that's That's a picture. Which at least. I a gives me a lot of things to think about yes. It's for anybody who's interested in the story of what happened in san francisco. You probably have the best a story of it. But it's a. It's a documentary in itself. What happened in san francisco and of all the people who told it I think yours is the most interesting. Because it's the most in depth thank you. That's a really complex story. And of course our part we tell is of course just edited part It's it be. it could be. Let's netflix series in itself. The whole thing ten episodes of fifty minutes each yes and maybe you might consider doing a documentary just on that. Yes it's Yes it's it's been in my thoughts and the and in a way the story continues but it's a it's a very time consume consuming thing to but i hope someone else will dig into it. It's it's It has so many as you know. It's it's one of the things about the united states. That's fascinating right. There is no such thing as an american there. Everyone is different in the united states and yes. They are two very intolerant people who don't want want to tell everyone else what to do everyone else but there are many people who are the opposite. There are many people new ideas people who want to challenge things who want to see things differently and want to take the opportunity to do that. A lot of is they're allowed to do that. You know the the big misunderstanding. Sometimes that i find is that united states is not one country it's fifty little countries and with each one of those little countries. They are still big differences. This huge difference between san francisco and los angeles. If you visited a to places it's like two different countries with two different people Of course you're you're so right in what you're saying. I'm for me meeting all these people. I met in san francisco Fighting a go against his new. I mean that was a lot of different people. They win not agreed in everything. All of them they they had their own personalities. Their own way of their own motivation. So of being in fighting for this But it's I almost didn't meet anyone in norway like that Luckily a couple people like that. But not not so many as in san francisco. So the the one thing you you don't talk about at all and you don't interview is nature is our nudism. You don't go to nude beach you'd go to a nudist or nature's club you don't talk to any nitrous annuities. Who are obviously focused on. Nudity and body acceptance..

"So the last Major area you you are in is san francisco in twenty twelve when they were having a vote. Banning nudity because nudity was allowed for people who might not know in san francisco. You could be nude and walk anywhere. and then a vote came a ironically because of the The the emotion or law put forward by a man whose last name is weiner and It passed by one vote. So that's the background for those who did know. Why is that how. This documentary started. That was quite a while ago. And why did you choose to include that into the whole documentary. It's it actually. Didn't start with that. That was soon during research already started to film Can that sukhum vists thousand bodies project and then suddenly in the in the tablet new spain norway it was a small note about the nudity ban in san francisco and of course a picture of one of the protesters gypsy cowb- nude of course that make make headlines even reach tabloids. And i thought wow. This is interesting. someone fighting ban against nudity. Where in the world. Other than san francisco might that be so i called gps atoll and and the others and said i would like to follow this story for my for my film and they say yes and i. I went to san francisco and during a couple of weeks. It's and the also hired a photographer in san francisco to to record something. When i wasn't able to be there during three years. I guess i followed the case for me. It was such a most people will will will say well walking. You run in the streets. That's that's not for me for me. It's not very important to walk nude in the city center of also or anywhere but the idea of that it is illegal data could be prosecuted and arrested for being nude outside. That's not like i don't like that. Anyone should criminalize my body just for being my body so that was one of the reasons that i thought this story in san francisco will so special and in norway and probably most other places it would it would be unlikely to think that The government will even discuss a law For or against nudity but the discussion amongst the politicians in san francisco was really serious. Debate and it.

"Illegal. So i my goal would be that if you go to a beach in norway. You should be able to swim without your clothes or somebody without your clothes side-by-side we people who prefer to have clothes on them. So I know that sauna is very popular in scandinavian countries in norway do people wear start to wear clothes into sanga absolutely absolutely. I'm afraid especially in norway. A you're almost looked upon as a strange person walking in naked now in sonus. So i do and the and i had reactions to it but in in finland. I guess it's okay because they're the soma. Culture is so big so an in denmark. I also think it's quite quite okay. Sweden i don't feel but Yeah it's it's time to to turn the trend because it's it's absolutely going the wrong direction. So you're you're fifty two. I'm fifty four. Where about the same age. Do you see especially when you talk. Maybe with parents and people that are older juice things and you said this things are changing. We're going towards more body. Shame even in norway is. That's my i think so. I think it's going that direction at the same time when i when i present my Documentary and talk to people about this. People are quite eager to listen and they often Understand that this is a problem and They had they. They don't to go further than themselves to understand that this is something we have to be aveiro and take more serious than maybe do because it will It has so many side effects. So why do you think this is happening. Why do you norwegians are becoming more ashamed in the younger people. This could be difficult to explain in english to for me but let me see. Okay take your time yeah. I think there's many theories about some people say it's because of An immigrants and the other religions some people say it's because of the mobile cameras there's cameras everywhere so people are afraid to get nude those reasons. I think it's it's really small. That's not the main reasons. The main reasons are more more into the culture of being seen and being perfect in every way I think the social media media's as a s- sorry. The english is not the dishes grades. Don't worry i don't have too many words. And the norwegian words are because it's.

"I certainly did use. My name is My name is yom doll chauve. I'm Living in norway in oslo. And i've been working in the we'd media and culture for since i was seventeen years old so for many many years and i in radio and television and the last twenty years or so. I've been working with documentary. Filmmaking and you have created a documentary called naked to want to describe that for our listener yes naked is At originally we wanted to make it Theatrical release the film but the work on this project has been going on for twelve years for different reasons and We a year ago. We decided to Make it Internet distributed serious in ten episodes made in the In high performance. So you can watch it on your cellphone but we also made it in the regular. Tv verson i always been There curious curious about why nudity make such such a fuss and why it's Seen upon us illegal from early childhood I couldn't understand this. Why i will shamed for nudity and want growing up. I saw that people kinda went along with that. Nudity equals shame and i don't fell. I i never felt like. That's a healthy thing because Having a bad relationship to your own body and others bodies is it's not gonna help you get very far so twelve years ago. I started to make this project naked. to challenge myself and people About this I was. I had so much. Shame for so much bullies. Shame that Even telling my closest family that i enjoyed nature. Ism was difficult now looking back. I can't understand what was the problem. But now i'm kind of been the naked pro. I saw it. What did you feel that. Your parents disapproved. no. I don't feel that but i feel like And often looked upon as a strange person When you promote new lifestyle. And i don't even like the terms naturism nudism Don't like boxes. I feel like a human being who prefers to be naked. When i think that's a good thing. I think bathing with bathing suits we. The baiting sort on is very very strange concept. It's like driving a car with a buckets over your head And when i say that to people they can't understand me. And but i can't understand them or i understand that that they have drawn up in a society that forces shame on them to use these clothing when swimming.

"Show you unfortunately you have to type it or go from our website because We have to make it adult and that means it doesn't show up in the search so when i was searching. I don't even remember how. I found this documentary. It somehow it came up. Perhaps in one of my social media feeds. I know we shared it. Are we shared something about it But i came across a documentary about nudity and that's fascinating the fact that was done In norway but in english was even more interesting. The fact that he was available censored on youtube was very intriguing for it was available for free on youtube censored and uncensored to vinnie. Oh for very small fee. It was also available in horizontal and vertical format so really There's a version as vertical and it's cut in small bits that you can watch on your phone so as vertical because people never turn their phones sideways or rarely. Do i do if. I'm watching something wishes. Obviously more the ethical in ratio but apparently a lot of people don't even win. It's that way so th there's a version that makes up for that so you can watch it vertically and that's an idea and interesting for fact short for people who just like to consume little bits of the time In between things or during breaks or during transit was very intriguing. So i watched it. I paid for the The full version. The uncensored version Partially because you know it's always irritating to see things censored when you you're trying to normalize nudity but also because i wanted to support the artist and the work and it's i think it's four or six dollars eight dollars very very little very reasonable and Definitely worth it. And then i was so taken by the documentary that i contacted them and see if Somebody was willing to Talk about it and yen doll. Show a producer director. I don't remember the exact positions but he's a key person who put this together. agreed to be interviewed. And so i hope you enjoy our conversation..

"Better than just giving me free lab and supplies and that's why they can't go public because they grow their sales at the same speed as our debt. Well how did they go from a million to a billion well they got a million dollars or about a million dollar dental office and now they say look we went from zero a million then they go get ten million in debt by ten million house as we went from zero to one and then one to ten and just two years. Yeah do but your balance sheet shown eleven million dollars debt and by the time they get to a one hundred million dollars one hundred million dollars a debt and that wouldn't fly on shark tank. Could you imagine trying to explain that to mr wonderful. He'd slapping all the way back to canada. You even tried to pitch him. He'd slapped for that he'd say you're dead to me knack. Is that how you pronounce Nathan allen cover your company knack is we have a knack for dentistry. Say oh okay. Well you're you're a my out my favorite band. When i was your age was the knack singing sharana so maybe you can get a little dull tooth and they married mary. But what i would do what i would do is i. Would you bit off more than you can chew so do base out. Make sure you got. I mean if you got the best. Hr and the best accounting and the best marketing and you know natives young from tallahassee. They they might. They liked the vision. They feel the purpose. Be because if you're really going to scale there's gonna be a lot of people are gonna have to give you ten twenty thirty forty years of their life. I mean when you say bill gates rich man in the world for a long time. Well he made ten thousand millionaires our with them for a long long damn time to get to that level of billion so so you need the three wise men and i prefer a. I don't care strong so they have a degree. Degree doesn't usually a b. s. stands for bullshit. Ms answer more more shed and pc's pile higher and deeper. I mean look at all to that. They've never had one phd in their department because everyone they've hired just turned out to be a complete more on. That can't think like like like when i came in and dental school. What what class in dental school would possess me to start dental town. I mean you know that that's a class. That's listening to your customer. That's listen to yourself. That's sitting there here in dennison going on. Espn talk about football three in the morning. But there's no place to do that with a root canal. And unlike dude i area and i bet every damn thing i had on it and it work because it was true to my heart it was true to other dennis heart and it still truth thing to this day so you need to find someone in hr accounting and marketing. That that you think is gonna give you five ten twenty years your life and you're gonna base out and you're going to get those dashboards you're gonna get it so so instead of sitting there saying well you know we're going to go from five to six. Oh forget that no your next move is five to ten to twenty to forty two eight hundred sixty so the real question is. How long do you need to base out your five before. You're really to let that thing. Divide like fungi into ten and mcdonald's. They took ten years to do that. So get your shit. Get into where. It's a no brainer. Stay geographically close. I mean southwest airlines. I mean you don't have five in tallahassee. Then put five dollars. That doesn't make any sense. So i so you're never even going to leave florida their florida's big enough for a with five hundred locations and brutal. Everybody knows glide. Well jim guide will. He has five percent of the dental market but he has five percent of the whole country. There were some other people that interesting. There is a green dental lab in arkansas. Who one-third of every dennis in arkansas game the lab in the other one was lords dental studio kid. One third of all the dennis in Wisconsin sending lab work so so. Here's jim guide were. Were you have low price and a lot of great marketing. And we'll get one out of twenty out of the richest economy in the world. Great business strategy then the local small guy. Well i can't compete with jim. Glide will in arkansas. And what was his name jerry. Jimmy lemme let me just type in our labs in general journey a lot more competitive. I think I think digital dench shoot to digital scans lowering the cost of making making a round stew. So yeah so so you know there is a guy where he just thought you know what i'm gonna do. I'm just gonna. I'm gonna be small and i'm just to think about wisconsin and i'm not going to i'm not going to think national global so it's one seventy five so i wanna see who your tom brady. Is going to see who your kid. I wanna see. I wanna see your three amazing players for those three positions to where you guys just sit there and say and then you might also do with emanate activity You know mergers and acquisitions so when you're ready go from five to ten you just by five the five down the street but but i think you're often amazing start. I also think it's humans are very quiet shy. I mean we all started out on the eastern horn of africa and the mother-in-law affect was well. Let's let's move a little further away and two hundred thousand years later. Were from australia to argentina. Just proof that people don't like to live really close to other people not everybody gets on their nerves. I mean you see a bird pecker making that little house just for him. he's not making a big one. Try to get five woodpeckers in there and so start small base how make sure you got your team you can pass the ball no look passes because you know where you gonna be and man you're off to a great start and and you're not shy.

"Okay so you've got that then. You need to hire these people who once you say we're going to albuquerque. Like could drop dead. My team could figure out where we're gonna fly. We're gonna drive. We're gonna rent a boss. How are we going to get there. What happens if there is a flat tire. They'll be resourceful. they'll get on the internet. They'll find aaa whatever the hell and what you'll find is that you've got to see who they start picking you know when i go into these dental offices and no one's worked there three years you know dachshund doing all the hr and hiring and firing for thirty years. And you know if you work for. The dolphins they'd say do. The last three quarterbacks you picked couldn't catch a ball. We're taking that away from me right now. So then you get a team so they got your vision the got your culture and then they start hiring people and there's rapid turnover in the short term. We got the wrong guy and that's probably an obvious like a player and then you get someone closer so when he staged in that one to five year range where they and those are the toughest calls because those aren't the obvious. Dns or be there about a year lasts was a cd player. If they're they're about five years that's the toughest call that was the be player and then when they made it five years and they're still in the team and the herd everybody in the get along. Now you know you've got another five year a player and the founder died and this team goes on and now i'm sitting here with know half dozen people who've been here twenty years so we'll do at five is my gosh what you needed. If i've is established your first layer who is the accounting person. Who is the marketing person. Who is the legal person. I'm busy need. Hr and you need marketing and you need to county that that those are the three heads of there. Ever were three wise men. It'd be hr accounting hr accounting and said bargaining parking. Yeah and As a marketing is a drug. It's like getting hooked on heroin. The best marketing is when you're trapped in a small town like walmart and he had to change. All of his pulse is only five thousand people. There's already said well we don't take returns and a mother looks as the washer you that me and my husband. Three kids will never walk in the store again. And then he goes home and coughs up a blood clot until he finds out that okay he is going to take returns and then salesman comes by once a month and drives salman box at ted more shoes. Say we're taking this one back. Because i sold it to margaret. And the damn he'll fell off and she's quite about and she took it back. She made me take it back. So i'm gonna make you take it back. And that's the point in his life where he based out like like procter gamble wouldn't change a thing for him and when procter gamble finally realized they messed up and this guy's in thirty two states and he will not take phone from procter and gamble. Go to ben ville arkansas. My dad went and showed me the lesson. Png thought well. Here's what we're gonna do. We're going to move our office down there because maybe when we all live down there. Maybe someone going to church with billy and going to the same school as allen and maybe they'd you see we're not evil like they all think we are and it took another long time before saying even thought about buying one paper towel from procter and gamble because they got off on the wrong. Start so what you need to do. Is you need to base out your team. You need to get that. Hr and the marketing marketing member. It's a drug because why where your existing patients. You're getting twenty five patients a month for the last five years by god you shop four full-time hygienists forty hours a week. And you only have one going three days a week. What we need to dump more innocent victims onto.

"Nice man so some diaz oh housekeeping. Do you like aspen. They're all aspens. And they kind of have a franchise model kind of like mcdonald's then there's heartland where they go by your dental office. Call one two three dental. Though they'll leave it won t three dental Kroger does adam kroger. Owns dylan's here in kansas. They own fries But other grocery stores like walmart they won. All the names is the same. So what do you do with names. Are they all the same. They're not all the same. And i think that's that's really critical in harlem and gets kinda. Does that model to. And i remember a longtime goes del student. I had spoke with rick working and he. He was definitely an advocate of keeping things. The same keeping the name same But i i keep the name of same especially some of these officers that have been around for thirty or forty years lie overnight when i changed the name of the office It just doesn't make sense to this broken thing but for me i like i like by transition to be a slow and slow as possible. I would rather patients just it. Just be a natural thing where they come in. They start coming in. And it's you they're disliking it and then the doctors there they see them because you know the senior doctors available then all of a sudden it just it is what it is but i keep i keep my offices the same name that the you not change. Yeah and again i. I'm trying to get you know people off to you. Know when they make decisions right or wrong. You know it's always is an It's a trade off the trade off. Is you know when you got a really big brand and you move into town. They're like i remember in wichita kansas. The governor i'm called and said we'll buy the boeing seven thirty-seven free if you start flying out at which i mean. That's how big the brand was a southwest airlines. But if but when something goes wrong with a Chapultepec eats it and and poops too much. I it hurts brand so if if something goes south. It's nice to own one hundred dental office. No one knows they're all related. So it's it's it's great for marketing and it's bad during disasters. I think that. I think that that model does work. Do i feel like you don't wanna highs higher volume area where people are just looking for in and out service in there looking quick predictable service that maybe no lately like that. So you kind of get name. That you're just like the go-to stopshop you're in and out and then there's definitely a type of patients looking for that type of office but i think if you're trying to drive more relationship. Driven comprehensive treatment drew office. You gotta you gotta keep things the same because especially slur towns. You know our that you know. You're you're naming. Your reputation really really holds a lot of value. Oh my gosh doesn't though so. I guess there's my phone okay. I can't believe over an hour. But what is what is your long term goal. I mean you got three to five offices. you'll even at school five years. And i mean you're doing so well but you're so young where where do you want to be a long term. I'm not sure. I think i think right now. I really do enjoy where i'm at. I like being able being able to practice more casually to be able to mentor. Sometimes i feel like i enjoy what i'm doing right now so much wouldn't mind continuing doing it. You know we'll we'll we get bigger. I don't know i'm not sure. Maybe maybe if i find another partner that comes in and really wants to use like mandy opportunity. Let's push this bigger but right now. I think i'm relatively relatively content. Because i think i have some pretty good flexibility and i think considering that i do own this operation myself. It's not. it's not too stressful. It's not too bad but long-term man. It's like you know i think about about five years from now I don't know. I don't know if you've heard that matthew mcconaughey speech but it's like who's your hero about you know your hero. Is you five years from now in this. I'm just i guess. I'm just trying to constantly improve and become a better person five years from now. So that's kind of where we're my. Suture is kind of what i'm aiming for but who knows you now You never know who's gonna join. You never know who who else is gonna step into your life you never know what kind of introductions are going to happen from this and who knows. Maybe i'll meet to see of care stream. But i think i think in general. I'm just i'm kind of just enjoying the journey right now and i'm enjoying the relationships they have. I really joy respects and culture. That i have with my doctors. Here's what here's what i recommend. Macdonald's one of the biggest franchise brand names ever and people always forget this story about how you know. They spent your decade with their first nine and they had to close som- you know they. They spent a decade working out kinks. And when i at. When i when i leave this journey the independent dentist and you know. There's it's gonna turn into partnership someday because you know he's gonna die so eventually he's gonna die and it's gonna be the practice going to be transferred and acquired by someone else so we're not going to get away from death and taxes and so then it goes to group practice and that's a big jump. That's that's one to the next scale. Now you've got a group practice and you've got to you know how do you work with associates manager. Whatever and then you get to five locations and that's where that's the best place to just base out. I mean base out to where. Because what i love about what you've got so far. Is that when you're one guy and you own a dental office. You gotta wherever you. Hey you gotta be the marketing person staff person the motivating i mean every hat fits on your head and that limits your growth exactly immature growth so when you get a one layer management like i have got I got Stacy's comptroller and she's got a couple of people helping her a marketing. Kristen marketing i got. You know you get this team and after You know the the the founder. Their job is to have the vision that okay. We're in tallahassee and we are definitely headed to atlanta and we're not headed towards el paso so we're here and we're going to be there. That's the only job of the leader. The visionary we're in phoenix arizona. And we're going to albuquerque. We are not going to l. a. Okay so you've got that then. They'll find aaa whatever the hell and what.

"Can come out of that and Have you been to cash room in atlanta. And i think i think networking with your insurance providers. Really you think. I feel like i need to improve on that myself because i again i think with delta dental i think there is such a huge patients that i feel like i wish i could get in the door at them and be like. Hey you know. Maybe a little bit higher fees. Because i'd be happy to accommodate all the patients. That are just dying to come in. But i think networking with insurance providers loses a brilliant idea. Our well couple of number one. You know David west gates chairman presidency of care streams health global division and. He's right if history. If we have a friend like that. Who's the chairman presidency. Ova company was six thousand employees one hundred and fifty countries. You never know where that relationships going. A lot of people don't know the original story of Rick workman of of Hartland dental i mean the guy was a genius and when he was doing his demographics he thought well. How do i do demographics when the easiest thing to do we. I mean he's in illinois so he went to illinois dental delta dental and blue cross and blue shield and prudential and says will. Do you sell like state contracts. Were like all the state employees of whatever and then you sell that contract then you get complaints because there's nobody do dentistry without insurance certain towns and the guy says are you kidding me. There's ten towns that are nightmare in rick's where are they and the guy told them and he says well i can get office is up and running for devil under a million but you know view. Siamese loan for ten million dollars. I'll have ten dental offices in those ten cities taking your insurance in four months and the guy's like really. I mean you know reverse engineer people. I always tell them that. You know the the the phoenix. They always wanted to go to scott because they think that's all the rich people are worst decision they ever make in their life. Because there's a dentist on every corner and in a rich area an acre of land. Only about one person living on acre. Maybe to when you go into the poorest parts of town acre might have some apartment complex that has five hundred people in there. And so i say will go straight to patterson shine burkhardt benko and go shit. Press the flesh. You're always running for mayor. Shake the press the flash with the branch manager and say. Hey we're all your dentist. Trumbull there behind thirty sixty ninety near cow receivables. And where's all your dentist. That are buying stuff especially adding opera tories. And they'll say well all my nightmares or nor scottsdale. And i can't keep up with the growth in west phoenix andy loy and maricopa at all and then they'll say well i live in maricopa. Say okay then just say you don't wanna be rich. I mean just maybe if you want to be rich you could live in scotts zone commute maricopa. I mean i mean you know And and we're around the corner from driverless cars which was tested right here in phoenix and by the way crazy humans during that five year. Study gul's car. What would that app cold waymo. Thank you waymo. Which is owned by alphabet jones google and youtube. And all that stuff. Whatever my gosh during the five-year deal not one waymo car. Autonomous driver killed anybody. But in the meantime hundred americans per day were killed by a car driven by a crazy monkey who lost his tail. I mean but they're afraid of flying where one person died last year and thirty. Six thousand idar so people are not rational. And it's a neat things. I've lived through because when i was classically trained in economics at creighton said that marcus were rational. The all the information was worked into the market and then the naysayers that say we'll then explain black thursday black monday. Nineteen twenty nine explained that y two k crash sulaiman scott if everything's so rational imperfect and so about nine or ten years. They gave out a nobel prize in economics for some guy trying to get him to go into psychology. Realize well if economics is rational will you know. Frank ain't rational. He's bat shit crazy and now they gave last year nobel prize in economics to another guy. So they're showing trendier. We're going to start giving them to people who mix economics with human psychology because markets can only be as rational. The nut. Job making the irrational decision. People are not rational rash about brushing lossing flying. Look the vaccine everything. They're just not rational. And my gosh you know networking with these people who know how to navigate like they take david west gate. I mean he's leading six thousand people in one hundred and fifty countries. How far how far is is atlanta from you in tallahassee. What is that about three hour drive. Five arizona's ever wanna make the introduction. It'd be more than happy to beat them. Because i'm just all about networking and how to learn so much from these. These leaders the leaders that are part of these executive groups. These corporate corporations it's just astounding. We know what they've accomplished. So and back that driverless car the waymo the number one problem that we had was that when humans saw the driverless car drive by they threw rocks at it. I mean this is a primitive behavior. I mean that were. We're humans. I mean we send joyce enroll monkeys monkeys who lost her tail and people think that's an insult. What else could you be a unicorn or a mermaid. I mean you know you gotta keep it real and networking with people who learn how to navigate the other crazy people in the playground. Those are always your winter. I wanna ask you a question. I wanna see what you thought this. This new grad new owner. He writes new grad new owner need. Help i have worked through negotiations. My offers except i find out tomorrow on the exact terms of financing. I will begin. Working prior to closing in my start. Date will be later this week. So goes no real world. Clinical experience.

"Right and you didn't and look at the interview you had when you brought on your office manager then look at the interview you had in the back seat of a truck when you interviewed your wife you know what i mean the two separate interviews that have nothing in common with each other. There's definitely a bias. There's definitely a bias their process and another thing. You know like these. Dennis would always at anytime. They signed me with my boys. Say so. you're gonna be like your dad. And i already lived through that with sonic drive and i mean i broke my dad's heart that i didn't wanna do. Sonic drive all day long and it was that would have been a great option and his other partners sons had most of them had two or three signing driving's for i even got out of dental school. But i didn't want to do that. But i would always like to point out to my boys. I'd say i tell my boys have you for cheap labor free labor yadda. Follow me. i had you for you. And i just want you to enjoy the biosphere for a century and i would always point out to them that the mousse miserable dentists i've ever known were ones that went into dentistry. Reluctantly dragged kicking and screaming. But a really strong mom or dad pulled him into it. And i don't show my boys the those examples. And i'd say at the end of the day. Your dad just wants you to be happy and healthy. You know what i mean and you're only doing something you love and and if molar endo had another friend who's up the street from me said he'd rather be taken in the backyard and beat them. I said we'll do. There's four thousand dollars she don't need. You don't need to do that to yourself. But the other thing one of when we're putting back group racks the thing i loved about group practices that And i i started group right out of the Start just for psychological reasons. Because sometimes you'll be looking for an mba to like forty five minutes and you'll just give up and walk away but new fresh set of eyes walks in there and just drops six foul right in it and when you when you are young and you start getting nervous. Like oh my god. Am i going to be able to get this to out. You start going into fear mode but if you know naked want sitting back there and can come pull this thing out like eight nanoseconds so just relax. I love group. And then there's an employee that you just obviously don't have any form of chemistry with you. Then you can have. We'll maybe maybe you should talk to that higest. You know what i mean. I mean i don't have any chemistry or poor but the group is just awesome if the leader the fish rots from the head down. It's all gotta start with a leader. Who shares your values. yes sir. Yeah absolutely i really. I really do agree with that though. And it's funny too. I love listening to you. Talk about this. It's just like dental. You know when you get these new grads they come in and they are very gun shy very nervous but if they they know that they have somebody there in the background to support them That's that's a huge confidence boost in. It's just it's been amazing about. I've seen a quite a few michael Clinicians it's like how quickly they developed under mentorship and under the other you know. The retiring doctors mentorship in like how quickly they developed compared to how i developed. I feel like i developed so slowly. I feel like after two years. I didn't have any confidence and you have. You know some of these docs. That are ten to twelve months out and it's like they're doing really good sometimes. It's like they're diagnosing diagnosing thoroughly than the other docs. So it's really really fascinating. What what you can kind of create and how quickly you can elevate dentist especially coming out of school when you first come out of school it is. It's definitely definitely scary. Don't you agree howard. Absolutely you don't want. I wish you would stop and Go over your journey. I mean all the young kids. Listen this like what you got. You got fired offices and you're still a baby so so walk us through that journey. It's it's an interesting story. And it's funny because i still walk into the opera tori my patients so ask me how. How old are you know. How long have you been doing this for a girl. A lot of new grad student right to that but my my whole story is i when i graduated. I had a good relationship with the doctor in in ian tallahassee and he had nice fee for service kush office and i worked there for a couple of years and i got to spend three hours figuring out how to do a mole root canal or two hours trying to figure out how to take out a wisdom tooth so i it was the nice developmental time. We're at the time. With then. I started kind of dipping. My fingers medicaid in other. Ppo offices. and then. I kind of went out on my own and i began contracting at about mrs contracting. A bunch of different offices at a scene how different teams words and a scene different types of dentistry Different patient base and then during that process. There was three of the offices of the twelve. That i was practicing at the doctor is very Motivated to sell in this happened. You tragedy is son. Who's a dentist. Had got killed in a accident. Tragically is other son who was a dentist. He no he left it was it was a big falling out so you had three offices one doctor. That was really struggling in a sense and he wanted. He wanted to figure out a way to retire because he was ready to retire. And then all of these things happened. So i was able to jump in in bottles offices. We got things turned around the selling. Dr st on which was which was huge. He was really good. Good and supportive. And then eventually i replicated the model with a fourth office and then a fifth office. I just thought actually found out the doctor. He just left badly a week before. And i thought that he was gonna stay so that was an interesting scenario to well. Yeah five years later. I am where i am. We have over forty forty employees. We have eight providers who can bring a few more providers on too soon. So it's been. It's been quite an interesting journey in a lot of clinical development along the way so you're in tallahassee florida so for our international viewers. That's florida is is an interesting state. Because the more south you go towards miami it's it's northern It's northeast united states new yorkers new jersey's and then the more nor do you go in florida. The more becomes a south because the top of florida's the south of georgia alabama mississippi and up there in tallahassee are all five year locations in tallahassee so howard. You'll be very proud of me. It'd be very proud of me but to the to the offices are in tallahassee but the other three offices are heavily rural very rural. Kind of what. She always preached in a sense so rural rural tallahassee. I mean like an hour to driver hour to forty five minutes. So that's like that's kind of the radius so yeah tallahassee really is actually developing in a sense where there's a lot of people coming in the other world the other areas are very.

"Of it. Actually been on his podcast. You're looking at your first lecture. And it was south eastern guys so so i'd lectured Than the day. That was when i was with my son ryan and a couple of other boys and after the lecture we were doing a cruise right. Yeah people talking money people talking money. I remember sitting there and i think it was like freshman your dental school and it was one of the first lecture is that actually made sense to me and you you actually taught me a technology thing at the time that just blew my mind right before. I stepped on a cruise. I'd done lecturing. I think we're going back to the hotel or the cruise ship or whatever and you told me That this new dating app. Of course. I'm old grandpa and i think of match dot com. So we'll this tender app on the phone. He says on the desktop it doesn't have. Gps positioning and this tender is taking everybody by storm. Because it knows where you are and of course. Every time. I hear anything. Identify it and i thought to myself. Wow could you imagine on dental time. You like ten townies and they were these your best friends and you walk into a big dental convention and it had that. Gps deal and it showed you that to your friends. Were there and you can message them. So i was calling can before i got on a cruise ship. Tell them everything. You told me already downloaded the tender app and it had all just all excited and guess what it's finally done like now. I mean we're in beta testing right now. It was a testing in the initial inspiration. No absolutely and but that's what young kids need to know like a lot of time. Jeff bezos talking near the reporter wants say about. There's asking about something that they're doing right now and he seems a little confusing. Okay now you gotta remember. I was totally on top of this and we decided to start this five years ago and three other things now so he has to go back his history book to try to think of what's going on just takes time when you're young. You think you're going to solve all the world's problems by friday and then by the time you get about forty. You know my new year's resolutions. When i was in high school and college not my practice they were you know there were five pages long and now they're like okay next year. If i could just accomplish just one thing what would it be. And then maybe a second less waited and a third less way to the list could never be longer than three and if you can just get one of your dreams doney what what. What is your new years. What is your what is your your new year's resolution this year. Well my i actually just started. I just got vaccinated on the way here. I mean i I don't know if i have a sticker my shirt. Whatever but as she gave me one but you get moderna or did you get the sensor the pfizer bio in tech at the arizona. State fairgrounds and you made an appointment online. Thank you shout out to louis core for sending me the link got registered. And you pull in and like ten check stations look. It was the most organized thing i'd ever seen. Just go from station station. You never get out of your car. I was so intelligent that i wore a long sleeved shirt. So i You know that. That was not the brightest thing i did today and got this shot. And i'll tell you what i cycle logically feel really really really. I mean i fairly b- because it's an old man sees i mean when krona came through in two thousand twelve killed thirty eight million souls in america but it was all baby pigs and just bacon went up and this one came back and thank god. I didn't get the babies but old men like me males about sixty percent of the the Sixty i mean. This was not going to be pretty for me. Shout out to my friends right now. Who are having difficulty breathing in the hospital. You know who you are hanging their man. My gosh and i'm just I just feel like. I finally see light at the end of the tunnel. I think the vaccine is critical to recovery. And i'm really trying to offer to all my staff eventually. Because i recently just sent out a company wide email saying you know that i'm going to be offering the madonna vaccine told employees. But it's kind of interesting you know it's it's kind of a fifty fifty with some people want it and then some people are naturally skeptical because it is. It is a newer vaccine. But as somebody who's middle aged. I think it's a no-brainer especially after that. First booster shot that provide some significant protection. So congratulations you forgetting. Because that's that's that's huge. That's definitely you gotta be a big relief obviously better night. Yeah and you know. I know there's been a crazy year between politics and inequality and racial and all these things like that but you know. I always think that what doesn't kill. You makes you stronger. And we had to learn a lot about ourselves and as a nation as a people as a populist and again you know. I think when the government gets to a point where they start marginalizing you. You can't fly. You can't drive. They're gonna ruin your life if you don't do what they say and get a vaccine. I think that's that's that's not gonna work ever and i thought with the whole way. This was handled that individual rights are individual rights. And you have the right to lick a rat during the bubonic plague. I mean it's your fifty thousand people kill themselves each year. I don't know who these people are that. Think living under an authoritarian government that makes all your decisions as a good idea. I mean i. I miss that in the five thousand year history of of from a modern civilization. I mean it just. It just never works. I never trust any of those guys. But so I was very surprised to my own dental office. More than half. Don't wanna get it. You know there's a threat on donald to have my staff doesn't want to get a dude. Your staff doesn't want to get it. I mean you.

"We're GONNA jump right in now and start because we have a lot of products and then we have that crazy interview so rather than take up the entire day for people by the way. I don't know what else to do where to jump in and start talking about products. I wanted to start by mentioning a beauty product that I think is very relevant right now because I keep hearing from everyone that they're Harris so grey and they don't know what to do and I always joke like if I don't get my hair color on a month that I Albert Einstein so it's like wishful thinking actually Bam Bam looks exactly like Albert Einstein. But she does not use this product. I do this is a product that I highly recommend to anyone that has any kind of routes that they had issues with. And it's something called. Wow or color while I just call it. Wow powder that's like my shorthand name for it and it looks like this like it almost looks like it would be like some kind of makeup like a plush or something and it comes in a little black case and it comes with a little brush and you could just touch up your roots and it really works so guys. I know you can't eat this but if you're out there and you're wondering why your hair's not looking as good as it did a month and a half ago this color. Wow is the answer to all of your needs honestly. You're wearing a hat today. Did you not put on your color while I did? Not if I took my hat off I would for writing you. We'll be putting my collar. Wow on later before I agree. My facebook live all right all right but now we'll get back to the food. So let's jump into the snack category because I don't know I find myself snacking throughout the day. More eating fewer like big meals and more snacky type things. I don't know if you guys are doing the same thing. I'm totally doing that. Mike is very snacky the other day he came into the Kitchen. And he's just like. I need carrots yesterday. At least see snacking healthy. Good for you. Did you put peanut butter on an even think about that. Wow what is wrong with me? You know what it is is. I think. Peanut butter a peanut butter as a as like dessert. And putting on carrots takes a desert out of it so I have Hamas that I got yesterday that I'm GonNa probably my carrots into. Yeah My love. Carrots in homeless But this one snack that I have to tell you it shocked me. But it wasn't until the corn that I really discovered it and I think it was because early on when I was still going to stores I went to this market that I loved And it had this there and then I realized that on Amazon and then it just changed my life. But Brad's I don't know if you know Brad's a lot of people out. There probably are familiar with breads. I if there is a Brad. He makes a lot of great crunchy kind of vegetable items. He makes chips and Dried fruit and he makes this stuff called. Brad's Crunchy Kale. And it comes in all these different flavors added. These are absolutely the best option if you like Kale and you don't want to make your own Kale chips but you still want them to be healthy. I think Brad's is basically the only option lease. It's the only option for me because serving only has eighty calories. There's two servings bags so even if you accidentally eat the whole bag which is exactly what I do. Eat the whole bag and I always do the math. Like if you get a bag of something. Don't you always the math to find out what's going to happen if you ate the whole bag? So smart That's what I do like. Everybody you guys probably do. 'cause you're hungry Earl Campbell? We do because you. I feel like Oh this is such a you know. There's so many food fakers out there when you go. And there's like three and a half servings and their one hundred ninety calories and fourteen grams of fat this is a real find. It really is and the flavors are amazing. My favorites are Nacho and cheese. It up and they're just like cheesy flavorful crunchy but not greasy and the bag is a good size to serving. So it's not like an eight serving bag where you're going to accidentally eat eight servings and then feel sick afterwards. One of those is up but I think the cheese might actually be Vegan. That sound right. Oh yes there's a big giant V on the bag that I'm holding now isn't that doesn't stand for very good at Stanford. Yes no wonder why Lord these are disappearing and now I know why are you know Lawrence been eating them highly recommend and they have by the way two to three smart points. Serving not bad. Have you tried the vampire killer? One is it's super hot or is it just kind of mild hot. You know. I never tried that one. I've only tried the cheese. It up the ranch. And the NACHO It must be sold out. I don't think you kill a vampire with heat. I think you kill vampire with garlic garlic. Yeah you wonder why. All the Vampires Mike's life are still alive. Okay next NAK. This is something that I have loved for a long time and actually out of the now and I have to order more Bader bean. Boom I like I just like to say that might have been better boom crunchy broad beans fava beans or broad beans. They come in hundred calorie bags in every flavor. Under the Sun there brought to us by our. Bff's at enlightened people who make the best ice cream on the planet these beans come in nine hundred million flavors exact and they just keep creating more flavors and I don't know how they keep doing it. But it's like flavors like sea salt. They're Saracho a barbecue. Ran to sweet onion and mustard. Which is my favorite Nacho cheese buffalo wing garlic and onion cocoa dusted and sweet cinnamon wildfires meadow. Good like I don't know how they make them so crispy crunchy like they're just unbelievable. I've turned so many people onto these snacks I know I always give them out at our events and people go nuts for them and they go nuts they're not not actually stats are way. Better than nuts But they go crazy because of how they satisfy whatever craving for whatever like potato chips type snack you would want and these are just better for you. They have five grams of fiber in each little. Tiny hundred dollar back and only two smart point right. Yeah and protein to write your. There's like seven grams of protein. Forgot about them. That's unbelievable and very satisfying. The kind of reminded me of Member like in Grade School. You'd get corn nuts in your bag of your lunch bag coordinates but one hundred times better than corn nuts. That's so funny that you say that because the next snack that I have is actually exactly what you're saying. So yes they are a little like nuts but if you really do like the real thing or not this next neck which is called love. Corn will like blow your head off of your body honestly. Oh No north. Imagine like you have corn nuts. They they almost like it. Feels like they're gonNA break your teeth. I don't care if you were like two six eleven or ninety seven years old. It feels like your teeth can't stand up to the core nuts but love corn. It's like the size of a regular corn kernel and the texture is. It's got that bite and that crunch but it doesn't threaten the enamel of your tooth you don't feel like your teeth are GonNa fall out of your face when you eat them. And they're so good again little bags ninety calorie bags and their little sweet and they come flavors like sea salt and there's like a chilly flavor that super spicy and then a smoked barbecue flavor that I love and you can get variety packs. I am not kidding. I have like forty eight of them in Mysore right

That was. It wasn't even crude just fucking gross. Right. I just drink a lot of water because that keeps you alive. And I'm like this might happen again. Okay. Hello, new friend. What's your name?
