NFL Releases Cleveland Browns Schedule for 2022 Season

"I got the brown schedule last night. The browns NFL released the schedule. And there it is, we open away and we close away. Honestly, the NFL hates the browns. They've always hated the browns. I don't know why they hate Cleveland, but Roger Goodell, you know, he walked in and said, whatever we do in the schedule, the browns are gonna open away and close away. And we close at Pittsburgh. Even though they're lousy in a crummy team, we do open away in Carolina. And if we can't beat Carolina, it's gonna be a long season, but deshaun Watson probably going to be suspended. I don't know. But as a browns fan as a northeastern Ohio native is a true blue son of the land that schedules okay. But I have to complain because I am a true blue senator

2022 NFL Draft Picks With Coach Chan Gailey

"On the clock. Number one again. Second year in a row. What are they going to have? Everything. I mean, seriously. Would you be asking for a trade? No. I think that quarterbacks in general have a certain level of cockiness that they need, and they thank a just get us a little bit. We can go in. And you need that kind of guy that believes in himself so much that he thinks he can take the team and get to where it needs to get to, like a Joe burrow. Joe, I mean, he's got some players around him. Just happened this past year that they got it all together. But it can happen in a short period of time that you can put together some people via free agency and draft and get what you need. To make the next step. But I think everybody would be shocked if they didn't take 8 and hutchison and I could see him taking Ed and Neil from Alabama as offensive tackle to help. Right. Because they do have Trevor Lawrence and they want to protect him. But whatever they're playing is do it. You know, don't just get enamored as you said. Don't get the shiny object out there and what just because the pundits say are going to say, God, what a stupid pick that was. If you don't pick the guy, they think you should be. Or make sure that you pick the guy you believe is going to be the best for your team. Well, always

Coach Chan Gailey and Doug Discuss NFL Free Agency

"Free agency, there are some teams that focus draft and free agency. There are some that tend to focus a lot of agency some tend to do draft more than anything else. How is free agency? Affected or does it affect your draft scenarios? Very much so. Oh, very much, so. If you can fill a whole on your football team via the free agency before you get to draft, then you tend not to push a guy in the draft, then he should be. And so, you know, oh gosh, we're desperate for a wide receiver, then you push somebody up a little bit higher than you should, but if you got one in free agency, now you don't have to make that push to free push that guy up the board. And just so we don't lose trying to cause my age. Okay. Going back to quarterbacks for just a second. Right. Personally, I'd rather have Baker Mayfield than any of those guys that are coming out this year. If I were one of those teams, I'd go get biker might feel before I'd take any of these guys.

Coach Chan Gailey on the Current State of Football Coaching

"The one thing you said is sort of interesting to me is the head coach setting the tone. And I think this sort of sets up very well and Dan Reeves is one that people need. I think more coaches should look at his style and how he didn't think he was never the most flashiest out front, but he got the job done. And as we come into a time like this, you talk about learning how to set up practices and other things, you know, the mechanics of football. But Dan also took the time when you said to trust, is that becoming such a, I mean, is that one of the issues that we're seeing now coach with teams and NFL's where your owners, the interplay between coaches, coaching staff, owners is not what it used to be, where you had that central dominant sort of head coach figure. Well, unfortunately, coaching right now is no different than society. It's a society. You know, what's in it for me, what's good for me, so everybody's trying to protect their entity and you have, from when I started in mid 80s to now, I see a bigger disparity between the trust level between front office and coaching staff. And ownership and front office and coaching staff. It's just become more divided rather than becoming more together. And really, right now, the people that have the most patience are the Steelers. And through the years, it's proven out. They've got patients. They've got trust. They found the guy. They believe in and they go with him and they don't bail at the first sign of the adversity and so it's been it's been, it was fun to be a part of their organization for the four years. I was there. And to see them because they, to me, they are really unique right now.

An In-Depth Look at the 2022 NFL Draft

"It. We got NFL Draft this week. Coming up next week. And so we're giving you a preview today of what this strap is going to look like, but I wanted to do it a little bit differently. And I coach Gayle and I have been talking a lot over the last year about football and live and how it all relates. But getting into the specifics now, the draft, I think it's going to be really interesting as we take a look at some of the mechanics behind the scenes. We always see the grand entrance of Roger Goodell coming out and with the first pick in the draft, so and so. And but there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes here. And I want to talk about then get into some of the specifics and how you're judging, you know, I think Chan unit is you're going to see Chan Gayle and I've talked about this for you're judging 20 year olds. And saying, you're making millions of dollars decisions based on 20 year olds. So it's going to be a good time. So Chan, welcome to the podcast. It's glad to have you. Thank you, Doug. It's always great to be with you, especially this time of year. It's fun time. It is good.

Coach Chan Gailey on the Impact Dan Reeves Had on His Life

"You and I have mentioned an individual and he passed away recently a couple months ago. Dear friend of yours, someone that I looked up to because he coached the falcons and in Washington for his nails Dan Reeves. Dan had a large impact on your coaching career as well. I want to just start a little bit because I think mentors and Friends matter in this world. I think we don't talk about it enough. Talk about how Dan Reeves impacted you and football. Well, we talk about him being a mentor Doug. But probably people don't know we're from the same hometown. So he coached us in little league. He was, he was the guy that came back from college and went out and coached us summer baseball and stuff like that. I mean, the town of Americas would shut down when the cowboys would play when I was in high school. So that's the kind of guy Dan was to me growing up. And then he was kind enough to give me my first job in the NFL. And at the Denver Broncos, I went in coaching the special teams. I didn't know anything about special teams. But he trusted me. And I learned right then and there, that trust is a huge thing in the NFL. You need to have people that you trust on your staff. And I learned so much from him about organization about how to implement offense, defense, how to change thought processes of teams, how to organize practice. Things like that that were so foreign to me, not having played in the NFL. It was, it was an unbelievable experience, and he was a great Christian man. So I got to be around a great Christian man who was a great coach and learned from me and my first NFL job. And it was such a

"I've got simple solution for this NFL thing. I'm ready. All I have to do is hire someone that identifies as a female. Or black, what can you identify as a minority? Because let me tell you something, the benefits I'd get if I were a minority big mouth on the radio, there'd be no stopping me. None. But if you had a biological male that identifies as a female, does that count? I don't know. I mean, I'm as baffled as you are. I'm so confused by all of it. Now, Derek is confirming. I don't see it as in the article you sent me? NFL, currently the Internet. I don't see in the article, but apparently Ignacio was right. These coaches are being paid from a league wide fund. Why doesn't the team have to pay the coach? So that the league can brag that we're all about the minority hires. The NFL went, where does it say, Derek? Spanner provide I remember, I don't see it. Defensive coaches, oh, here it is. The offensive assistant coaches who will be female or minority will be on one year contracts and be paid from a league wide fund. That's funnier than the patronizing idiotic condescending process of hiring somebody in the first place in a category that checks a box. The coach, the team doesn't even have to pay them? Why would that be? Well, probably because people like Jerry Jones are going to say, I ain't hiring her. But the Rooney rule says you must you must

"I was thinking, 'cause this whole thing with the NFL, you do know that this is not only crazy, but the league is aimed for the employees. So I guess they're not team employees, but league employees, because it seems like the flip the bill, but if they're worried about inequality, why not go after a season ticket holders? Why not say, hey, we need more minority season ticket holders. We need more minority fans. Are they going to start limiting? What about players? What about players? Is there going to be a quota for players on the field? I mean, this is, but when I go back to your first point ignition, the league is going to pay for the league doesn't pay the coaching salaries. The teams do. Let me write, but the article, the article states that the league itself is going to pay for these guys. I don't know that that's true, but you might be right. Let me check it. I'll find out because I don't think that's true. I think there are forcing since 2003 NFL teams. I'm reading here from ABC News dot com. Since 2003, NFL teams have been required to interview at least two minority candidates when hiring for prominent positions through a policy known as the Rooney rule. But the policy was newly expanded to include women on all levels. Diversity committee. I don't know why the league would pay for an offensive coach other than to say, well, we'll pay for the black guy. We'll pay for the Hispanic. We'll pay for the woman offensive coach. Wow.

NFL Says Each Team Must Hire Minority Offensive Coach

"You got to hear this package. From ABC News. And the NFL has announced new rules to guarantee more opportunities for minorities and women. This comes after former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the league and three of its teams for racial discrimination. Trevor alt has more from outside NFL headquarters in New York. Hi, Trevor. Diane, these are really big changes from the NFL as the league has been facing increasing scrutiny and pressure from a lot of people who say they're minority initiatives simply were not doing enough and so beginning this upcoming season, all 32 NFL teams will be required to hire a minority or woman in a prominent offensive coaching position. The goal is to then create more highly sought after a head coaching minority candidates and then ultimately some more minority head coaches, which a lot of people say, there's simply not enough of those right now. This is a substantial expansion of what's called the Rooney rule, which up till now has only required teams to interview one minority candidate before they hired a new head coach. This is also the first time that women have been included. And of course, this change comes as the league is facing a lawsuit from former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, alleging discrimination in the league's hiring practices, though the league denies those allegations. So I want to get this straight. This black coach feels he got passed over because I guess he's black. Think about that. Let that sink in.

I'm privileged to be joined again a bob lung who is the author of the award winning fantasy fantasy football consistency guide available on amazon so basically before beginning the podcast with bob long. I'm just gonna quickly. Discuss zeke news has that happened in between when we recorded an currently zeke was indeed finally signed behind the dallas cowboys i ending a hold out that span for months and months and the numbers are reported are six years ninety million dollars which makes him the highest paid running back in n._f._l. History along with fifty million guaranteed dollars now there are rumors reward by rotor world zeke. We'll be on a snap count so it's definitely some interesting to consider if you drafted maybe top three rounds running backs than you may consider considers sitting zegers starting am in your flex or something that but otherwise zeke should definitely be a starting cowboys running back who towards the end of the game he likely won't play if the game becomes outta hand which is definitely something that could happen by against the giants so it stephanie we easy match up for them but there is a potential for him to be taken off the field just in preventive injury cases so he's have no not going to be ranked as highly as he usually would but regardless. He is my number one fantasy running back now i do. I think he'll finish there with the week. One issues there there is a possibility that he finishes just outside the number one by think he's locked and loaded toffee ryan back in. I think he's the only one who could definitively say that about. I think saquon his offense that he's initiatives <music> atrocious and the amount of stock boxes he'll face. It's in reported..

"N._f._l.'s one hundred season and you know it's all it's impossible for anybody out there to be able to put in perspective you know the context text of a hundred years and then betty white actress betty white chimes in. I believe she actually one hundred. I think she might be close if she's not already sure anyway anyway she <hes> she came in on and i thought it was very funny promo that n._b._c. put together. You know that's the thing about kicking off the n._f._l.'s one hundred season. I don't think there's anybody out there who can possibly put that into words betty white dogs talking one hundred years savannah n._f._l. History the packers bomb thin more bad ass initiatives and you're looking betty white about us for sure and just keeps on ticking. She's got she's. She's still super funny cool. I left my my bad ass off when stevie yes with the n._f._l. Starting and the n._h._l. H. l. starting. I watched an interview this morning with connor mcdavid about a six minute interview <hes> and they're far fired a bunch of questions about his health. He's been skating and they wanna know if he's going to be able to play for them on the opening game and houses this progress and it's a scrum steve. There's seven or eight guys all asking the same question different way okay <hes>. Can you tell tell us if you're going to start in the first game you know and he said well. We're working towards that. Okay we're working towards it and clearly clearly the question is answered right away and and and yet you get six seven different guys trying to come at them with with a different i angle about the same question that i can only think they're trying to get something you know more out of or in or controversial and if you watch the interview it's very dry you know he's very guarded about it in his answers or you're going to be. Are you guys. Are you guys <hes>. Do you think you'll make the playoffs or is this team ready for the playoffs you know and and they're looking for a negative response all the time. I'm steve yup and his his answer is yes. Yes yes. We wanna make the playoffs any other questions you know yes. I'm worried about my the health. Yes i'm trying to work towards the first game and you know i got to thinking that the media as we go into this new year that the media now has has come to a place where nobody trusts them. Nobody trusts them. <hes> a you know as from a player's point of view about how are you going to twist something here. That's that's just not there especially in come right when you're dealing with multiple number of media members. How in the world could you trust them. All there's some you'll know and the some you will trust but in a scrum format used on all right right and it's sort of it's sort of two shitty taste in my mouth about some of these reporters you know. It's like let it go. So why don't you or you know why don't you get you can't you can't be a homeless deavere. You can't you can't always have have sort of pat answers from a guy you gotta. Try and look for a different angle. You know terry jones. One of the most prolific sports writers in the country is is really good at that is really got upbringing. "I think a lot of money was spent because it wasn't any other players out there but as far as a quarterback that was going to come in and lighted up n._b._a. A franchise guy i haven't saw it out any of these these guys you know what i mean. None of these guys impressed me from the beginning so i couldn't see myself as a g._m. Signing in one of these guys the first round pick because none of them were first round round. Pick ready carl. Mary wasn't first round pick ready. He wasn't and he made a comment today saying that it doesn't matter the size of a player you're correct. It doesn't matter the size of a player if you're doug flutie or drew drew brees those exceptions of small pleasant n._f._l. All under six foot tall that can that have made it in n._f._l. And made it look easy made it look good but when you're not over six foot tall you're six foot tall and you can't see over those defenses. We've known it caused problems for several different quarterbacks rex who didn't have that height that you have you gotta have something extra added onto that to be able to see it in a fair and i'm not saying he can't succeed n._f._l. By no means am i saying and i'm just saying i didn't see anything show me that he was ready to be a starter this year or next year. Maybe a couple of years after this but nobody impressed me. <hes> in the college level orwell's coming out. Nobody impressed me. They're still not impressed me and the preseason. I'll do it. Yes preseason. They're not impressed me at all so i haven't seen a quarterback that was drafted as really impressive recipe that is really you can plug and play right now. These are all projects <hes> if anything <hes> that they drafted man but i i wish all of them welded. I mentioned man <hes>. I'm not impressed at all but that doesn't mean these guys can't turn around. These guys can't learn these guys can't integrate system and learn plate books in england experience under the tooling of other quarterbacks in and it can be something in the future just right now. I'm not impressed. I need more people films jason. I need more people but you know <hes>. We'll see how it goes man. You know we weren't coming up. We'll seattle perform. You know they're they're gonna get this bird's eye view. You know that first week get owning a thumb. I'm gonna be thrown in the fire them just what they do from there. <hes> always take the time to kind of transition a little bit but i'm gonna take a quick commercial break in then. "You know i i kept getting concussions. Never had one diagnosed me and as you mentioned kept going going and that's ruined my career and so now i've always thought it was crazy that we're f- completely fine with strapping helmet on an eight year old and tell him to whack his head but we don't educate as coach and we don't educate the kid and we don't educate the parents about concussions which are very easy to educate on also very severe injuries and what people don't understand is that you can really minimize the damage if you rest your concussions and so now the big push is happening legislatively. It's happening educationally through the c._d._c. Is that no youth. Coach should not be taking an educational program on concussions and the c._d._c. You actually have a coaching certification available a few months that we will be pushing like crazy to make mandatory for every youth coach that we don't waste these brain cells out appearance chris. You do have brains already that you've been doing research on. What are they finding through that research urge because i saw in the piece that they were doing sections of the brains and then they were analyzing it from that standpoint. What are they seeing all the the primary thing. We're looking inform on. Many of the things is the presence of a toxic protein called tau t._a. You if something that most researchers know well from alzheimer's disease these but we're finding also developed simply from trauma and so when you saw the pictures of the brains and you saw these dark brown specs all throughout the brain i mean that was a representation of this toxic protein that had killed those brain cells and so we're seeing that the disease actually selectively attacks ax areas of the brain that control emotional control attacks places of the brain that control memory and things like that and so <hes> we're we're seeing that whoa only unfortunate rushing pushing a snapshot of what the disease is done. We don't know when it started or how quickly progressed but we can see that. These men were walking around with profound brain disease at the n._f._l. Level you know as well as i do. It's kind of a conflict of interest situation. When it comes to the doctors. Their responsibility is not only to get the player healthy but to get them back on the field are are they in such a conflict. It's going to make it hard to deal with solving this problem well. It's it's it's become less hard because the n._f._l. Changed changed the rule and now if a player's diagnosed with concussion can't go back to play until they see an independent doctor because you're right that conflict of interest was simply simply so profound that doctors would be paying our hospitals would be paying teams have the right to be the team doctor. 'cause you get so much so many patients you reputation it'd be so big big and and so there are very clear situations including ted johnson story. Kyle turley has stores n._f._l. Players saying they don't felt they're given the best care the proper care because they new their doctor did not want to lose his job and would not fight for him and so they were mistreated and <hes> hopefully that will go away a little more now that not only do they have you see the doctors but also the athletes are much better educated and now understand why they shouldn't be going back and probably are going to be pushed around as easily chris. We've got about a minute before we have to break here but the the thing that struck me is that you had an interview that was done. I think in two thousand seven or part of that story that was done <hes> about the team physician representing the national football league and he just i could not believe him saying that they don't see any connection between a brain injury and some of the end result situations with players that there is is no information that connects the two together i mean it was just playing ignorance on the doctors part that represented the n._f._l. You know it wasn't planning. There's it's not like you hadn't seen the day of the doctor cast and there's actually now since step down as co chair of that committee but he he just he decided to create a absurdly high bar for what what he considered evidence and he probably wasn't going to be convinced until we had hundreds of cases of this and not just ten or fifteen that we have and so <hes> he was just the wrong man to be leading the n._f._l.'s.

I believe they're going to be handling like halftime shows and every year as well as some kind a social justice in a trick i use our resources to to <hes> know have furniture entertainment but for your winning and and we're using your resources about this over here yet so when he did this it became a referendum on his person on him and pitting him and capture nick. My response to that is one. That's really stupid to pick him and cap against each other would be insinuating that they are not both fighting. I also also that's what they want but to do that and it makes it a oh will cabinet still. He's sacrificing sacrificing cabinet amended. He said five kevin. I don't know he's not that stupid. She wrote an instagram so really how can jason n._f._l. Jay z did not contact operate join discussions about the deal. The deal is already been done prior to competition company the had jesse had and he certainly didn't have concentrated in the throat. The lawyer said jay z says we've moved past kneeling and i think it's time to go into actionable. Items and this partnership can inspire and educate so again a very strange situation. I'm just not sure on what kind of the right answer is here because a one-sided i'm jay z went into. Take this whole social activism thing to the next level in that some kind of change but then you calling company saying hey. How can you say hey that team now. That isn't jay z's probably level of influence. That's why cops out any kind of sway to get the team <unk> owner to higher quality team and also as a team owner. I'm not sure i feel as if this i'm not sure how it would go. I'm sure if someone was super liberal or super-conservative and just was spewing lows of gun <hes> gun control rhetoric or talking about how great trump is and just as you know being on the complete nuisance. I'm pretty sure most n._f._l. What does that mean entailed hammers. You receive it meant. You had to have a guy go. I mean you couldn't say anything about what he's doing. Does it mean he couldn't play another team. "What what are the real issues in your life. Let's talk about those trump has done that more successfully than bernie sanders. I say this someone who is not pro trump but he has done it more successfully accessibly because bernie has given in too much to the other distracting authoritarian agendas but there is a there was i shouldn't say there is there was a commonality between these two men which was how can we go above this bad politics which has taken the western world by grip and talk to ordinary people about what's concerning them and their everyday lives both of those had that instinct i think bernie has jettison instinct and has gone too far down the crew so i think you're apps. If you people want to take kind of calmer retribution in the fact that he's going to be destroyed. I think that's fine find because he made bad choices. It's just crappy. It's yes it just is but okay so let's link back to to the populism that you're talking about so i understand that and then what what is either the connection or disconnection between that and then nationalism then veers into what we should all be worried about which is actually ethno-nationalism yes so i think national populism is a pretty good thing because i think the only way democracy can work in a real way like i mean meaningful democracy where everyone regardless of best station in society regardless of how much money have regardless of how much education they you have. Everyone has the right to an equal say in how society's organized. I think that's an incredibly important political value. I think in many ways is the key article value. The only way that value can be upheld is if you have a coherent nation a nation which is not interfered with too much by outside forces which is not bossed around by a foreign oligarchy like the european union which by the way can write laws the us british people must live by even though we have no direct mechanism for pushing aside the people who write those laws to its fundamental outsource all your freedom people in brussels amazing right so we don't want to outsource all freedom. We want to outsource all democratic decision making processes but that's what has happened so i see national populism as an attempt attempt to recover the ideal of democracy and and borders are actually central to the idea of democracy because if a nation doesn't in control its own borders than it really isn't a nation a tool and if it isn't a nation a tool than it cannot have democracy which can only really in any meaningful sense. Take take place within a nation humanity has not thought of any other way that democracy can work although the intonation so when somehow people sort of think that borders are are somehow against freedom but actually the only thing that ensure free absolutely and i think the riot nation to police borders into control his board. What is this is essential now as it happens. I'm very liberal on the question of immigration. I would like a liberal policy on immigration in the u._k. N._f._l.'s but i think the onus is on me to argue for that in the democratic sphere rather than having a situation where in europe for example the european union determines how how many migrants country should take less implicitly anti-democratic over here in the u._s. You have a situation where you have these supposedly radical eccentric democrats who just think everyone should be able to come to the us regardless of whether they come through the legal port of entry regardless of whether they tried that's through in the in the reasonable way they think that people should be able to swim into the country and do as they please what these things having common is an hostility towards the idea of borders but it's an haas hostility towards the idea of borders. That's not based on freedom but is is based on the idea that the nation is is a bad thing and that democracy is a bad thing and we should just throw everything open and allow other people to decide the fate of the country ah democratic..

"Of. I think that we're a little bit too optimistic on what we think deserves to happen with justice hill because i do agree. I think justice is a talented player that he has looked good compared to what actually might happen. In terms of like the way the coaches have been using more like the lack thereof of talking about him so that's kind of my thing. I think that like ingram could have a little bit higher. Touch counted share more than what we're expecting out of out of here as well and i think think ingram actually i felt like received plenty of touches when he was at alabama. I mean there's the whole narrative going around early. Career orleans that sean payton hates him for no reason season because he just like sean payton randomly spell him for someone else and not give them enough touches and that seemed to be my explanation for why he wasn't dominating the back. Feel like you're saying there early on and then he was sharing touch with alvin kamara and that's a very reasonable. I don't really think the justice sales alvin kamara even even if he's is a good about average pass catching type of our like back in in that backfield and i think defensive ingram like he has always exceeded the expectations of the fans or the players and fancy like he he he's always should onto some regard like he's never he's never heralded founded in any way. I feel like you always exceeds what people expect so the reason why you shouldn't do in baltimore fake. He's just getting treated the same way in baltimore again. You know without sean payton there. I don't know just it goes that way. <hes> i think we all like all both these guys but just depending on where we draft him in the way. We're drafted in that particular f. <hes> the next guy. My raiders crushed this dude. We crushed in preseason. I have to take the little victories guys as raider fan and <hes> cuyler murray trust or trust issues because he was struggling struggle. He was out there clapping and getting false starts and his backups came in and they look good. Anybody have trust or trust issue who who who who feels really strongly one way or another. I already know adam and josh you're gonna fuck in his all kinds of garbage. Bull connor are you. Are you on collars. You know what what are you going to say like. Come on. We gotta worry about scott a little bit. I think that i mean i guess it depends on what your what your thinking like. Do i trust colin murray to be like my starting quarterback fantasies that the questioner chosen to be a top five thousand starter. You trust arctic yeah i do because that defense fence is going to be literally so so so bad that even if he isn't that good he'll be able to rush the ball enough that it'll make up for his lack in how good they are a team i don't i don't think that that top five upside that a lot of analysts have been projecting for. I'm not really sure that that's their if the team isn't able to put together there are a lot of scoring drives but i think just by rushing upside alone. He'll be all right. He's not someone that i there are other guys. I'd probably prefer over him but i mean yeah i would still trust them to finishes as a q._b. One this year we're going to talk about this episode. Guess his oh lines not that great either. That's another concern. It's like it's not that great. I know he has good weapons and stuff adam janis to trust them. Why even discusses we've done this a million times with these discuss it but i do wanna ask connor's opinion on this clap situation because this blew my mind when it was getting called and i still don't understand it and the n._f._l.'s response that they're going to allow referees to call it based on their our own judgment just infuriates me and i was really curious to get an opinion of somebody who writes in the industry and what what what do you think of this whole now. You can't clap to call a hike rule or what what are the nuances to it that you know..

"Jay z. in rock nation have decided to join together to partner with the n._f._l. We we know this. We discussed this last week. Backlash happened now. We're in this point of turmoil almost where we attempt to discuss us to it or not. Let's it up yeah yeah. Okay yeah yeah and let's dear summer. I know you're gonna miss me. Kiss me. Do you ever talk into the mic okay. I'm jay z. I'm going to this is the hardware for me because i want to be like he's going to do this covert. You know <hes> <hes> some hour now he's about to be sneaky and combined do from our side in he's is basically about the attack the industry from the inside out but history kind of not on his side now. What do you mean by that because some people argue situation and some people argue the histories on his side so he deserves the benefit of the doubt. I was arguing that i was. I was a history by. I was thinking about the the fucked up history day. Yeah explain like the whole dame. Dash is when <hes> he he was you know he had a avenue to they'd be bigger dan everything but at the same time he left his voice behind. Oh that's how you feel about that. I mean that's what happened. Okay cash money. I'm saying and i love jay z. But he was only topless. He was an eight behind joyner lucas. I really love jay. Z. had to give you one of the list. This okay and jay z wasn't a yours either he was he was number one number two number two on the damn doesn't use of your wake says unisom okay but <hes> but you get to all the barclay center in there on the way that he <hes> basically force p not he didn't do it but he basically if you're involved with the creation of the barclay center then you had to be held accountable for the people that the barclay centers creation <hes> effects and there were a lot of people low income a minority people who were forced out of that area because they need to build the barclay center and nobody talks about it was kind of like a afterthought yeah and <hes> and he's about the gain is money. I mean he's money. I think that he's he's not soreness. Nothing different from him is money merv. You think it's just the money move..

"Know. I know a lot of people say oh well. We gotta wait and see what happens. No we don't have to wait to see what happens. I'm seeing what's happening right now. Is that the n._f._l. Pill is continuing to keep and suppressed let people and they're using jay jay z. as a means to do that. Try to get us back. Watch it again because as we stopped watching you know and they're not going to tell you that it's not going to be really reflected in ratings under land but this shit was happening. We got all kind of a list superstars a-list celebrities turning their back against the n._f._l. Refused to super bowl in unison with colin kapernick <hes> and they're for jay z to go do something like this after he was also doing come on man. That shit ain't right row. That's your name right. <hes> <hes> i don't know. Can i still feel like it's a little too early to judge <hes> saying just for the simple fact the what what j. like. You said he is right in line with him but it's a lot of other things that are right in line with you as well. That's a positive in you know what i'm saying. So i mean you can look eh both sides of the coin which coin which side is it. You know what i'm saying aside where he's doing like prison reform stuff and and like <hes> i mean because it's not just james this whole family even beyond say. They both like shit activists. You know what i'm saying. You know i i just i don't know man. I just feel like it's just like a little too early. I don't know what you're saying. Don't get me wrong. You're saying <hes> but still a part of it for me personally. I feel like there's a little too early. I feel like he has good intentions. <hes> but obviously you know he's a piece of millionaire billionaire so obviously there's gonna be some self province of gain there but i think the overall intent is is good so i wanted to overrun intent so just be someone someone to represent a and we all we all know right so even though we have somebody in representing we could say barack obama right so even we have. Somebody represent is still. They're still going to find a way okay to to make it about them. You know what i'm saying you know more still have the same <hes> policies and plans. We can only do so much and i think that's kind of like what you're saying and we can only do so much. So why do you think this is going to work but again. I just feel like it's way too early. You know what i'm saying to just kind of say that he won't be able to make change change or or inspire change. I would hope that this is i feel both sides and there's some things i didn't know before now like that. He told <hes> depre- not to take the deal and he took it now. I would hope this is some sort of like dot out chest move right. He has something up his sleeve to where he's trying to <hes> have maybe a more controlling stake in a positively effecting <hes> like activism representation in the n._f._l. But it does those kind of seems shady just because like as it stands right now the n._f._l.'s still did suppress cabernet and blackball them and like they haven't made any sort of statement acknowledging okay what he was doing was just a right or whatever they still trying to like. Kick that out so i'm i'm interested to see if jay z didn't you said that he's going to be like running something with activism for them. Yes inspired changes the n._f._l. N._f._l. Social activism <hes> <hes>. I think arm that they have <hes> and i i i do see people..

"I'm i'm not sure how that moves forward because for a lot of people and this and to be to keep it a hundred which all this move was made because the n._f._l. N._f._l. wanted to move past. <hes> you know colin chapman. It's era of of a protest of this this entire era of n._f._l. But it was really about trying to win back a segment of the n._f._l. Population that-that abandoned the league and be quite honest like that that population was overwhelmingly overwhelmingly african americans now. I don't know how this is going to reflect in viewership. I don't know how it's gonna reflect in sales but this is this. This is gonna be a fascinating point for the n._f._l. Because while they think they've loop pass this era i don't. I don't know how the n._f._l. Actually move pass it because at this point colin colin kaepernick is who he is. He's he's never. I'm like you i ever since that whole collusion case came up. That's never going to get back in the league and and if i've ever wanted it to be wrong about anything what couple of days i've wanted to be wrong about this. This is definitely high on the totem pole. I would love to see him backing league. I would love to see them having another chance to play but just the fact of the matter is i don't think that's ever going to happen but even even if a lot of people feel that way he still in their hearts he still in their minds and they a a lotta people will not be able to get past that essentially because of this partnership not i. I won't say they won't ever buy but just right now. Emotions are still raw. The wounded still eloping a lot of ways people. Because how can you have these conversations. When that guy who who basically started the conversation still left out of a job and i think for a lot of people it's gonna take a long time and some people may never get over it so it'll be interesting to see what actually would actual quantifiable action gotcha. This partnership produces because while some people believe in it. There's a good chunk of it that i just don't believe anything n._f._l. Sentiments that's the bed. They make themselves over the year. I just really quickly <hes> i gotta put you to the fire here a little bit because we've been talking to this whole time and even the last couple of days since the announcement coming out of the n._f._l. Merging together and yet we have not even talked about beyond say like we haven't even mentioned beyond say and think about what she can bring to this whole. Now you know this whole situation. She's bringing a whole different demographic if you ask me she's bringing women over. I think that's even a bigger play in. It's in my mind around a little bit that we haven't even spoken her name because i think she will have a small bit of influence on what's going on as well so you know it's it's. It's great that you mention that because that's actually the truth and no one knows i'll be going to you know reacted back to this <hes>. She's a very tabulated person she does she like she doesn't speak to the media she does. She makes decisions on her own. Show posted on instagram graham within thirty seconds got four million four million likes her four million views so she comes with a significant sense of power and if there's one thing about the n._f._l. They've and been so reactive on a lot of topics over the course of the entire decade whether it's been c._t. And concussion research domestic violence and now with the you know the social justice lynn so go beyond the role in this could play a huge role not how and win and what she'll actually do. I don't know but i i would tend to believe that she's gonna gonna you know support her husband as well so it'll be interesting to see that by impact whenever it comes just intensely with the undefeated make sure to check out his his piece about jay z rock nation and this partnership with the n._f._l. Appreciate the time man. Thank you. Thank you for having me on all right come. There's a lot to chop up from that a lot of subjects that just brought up sodano show e._s._p._n. L._a. "One thing maximizing profits at the expense of everyday citizens what government incentivizes shapes our national character thought to fall to that point where do these revenues still is there any sense of whether they're going to help the children or help struggling gamblers well it's that's a fascinating question and what i've been using through the years is the idea science-based legislation the idea thing if we're going to legalize these behaviors just like tobacco alcohol we need to put back into community protections protect those most vulnerable and a lot of states they'll say princeton's one percent of gambling revenue who go back to creating prevention and gambling treatment programs now that sounds like a lot but again and other states they don't have state-funded treatment or in other states what is given for gambling treatment is a tiny percentage will provided for drug and alcohol treatment which oftentimes way under utilized and under under available so the definitely needs to be a lot more attention paid to how do we allocate these resources properly so that the people who are in most need actually get it and to protect those who could potentially develop these conditions from preventing them the larger question is really what kind of society less puts out there what kind of society do all in create by having these legal forms of entertainment out that do have unfortunate side effects much more to discuss in a moment with dr timothy fong luke corum and kelly stuart kelly i'd love you to respond to one listener right the wrongs wrote on our website big big bucks are coming soon turning the n._f._l. m._l._b. n._b._a. and college sports into the w._w._e. officiating is already a joke they can only get worse i'd.

"Of g._m._c. sports podcast just finished time with the n._b._a. now let's go back to the n._f._l.'s we are close to the super bowl but i must ask you this is a very important question i've been thinking about tom brady is making his third consecutive super bowl appearance which is a great feat no doubt about it and it hasn't been done i believe since the bills in the nineties when they lost four straight but my question to you is if he loses this super bowl and he loses to straight would you say this affects his legacy was this a serious question why i'm saying like will people look at more of a like he hit was great in the beginning of his career in the rebels and then he kinda lost it at the end of the super bowl run this is a serious question i'm give me your honest opinion i'm just making sure that this is a serious question like if you lose than people say he's not the greatest quarterback of all time i'm just saying like is the mystique gone a little bit i don't know why that would be to straight you don't see why that could be a he's in the super bowl every single say okay the bills went to four straight super bowls awesome all four win at all yeah if he goes to they went is he one granted he's one five but two in a row he's laws that would say like oh he could have one more he could have been better we could have one more even if he wins this one and so i'm saying like even if he wins this one how many did you lose see that's three four that's a lot yeah i don't know i don't know what you're what you really want me to say that i think that i think somebody who would who would say that this affected his legacy i think that would be a ridiculous point of view that i really wouldn't entertain to be honest with the because he's in the super bowl every single year pretty much what half of his career he's been in the super bowl every year like half like every other year he makes a super bowl in his career and it's only gotten more and more and more as he's gotten older older older so it's like i don't know he stills the most successful quarterback of all time and he will be no matter what happens sunday and if he does it against unday it'll just be a higher mountain to climb for the next person so true and i feel bad whoever's next quarterback in new england that's for sure but i think and then you got to look at the hater side and what i mean by that is deflate gate and tuck rule and all these other aspects i spy gate as well and people really kind of a lot of people really push that under the rug at the end of the day yeah i mean it is what it is he's been suspended for cheating individually his team has been forfeit draft picks his team has been fined and suspended or reprimanded so they've been they've had a forfeit draft picks like you mentioned so yeah i mean you know things have happened for sure and if people say that that goes against his legacy they're gonna feel the same way no matter what even if he wins next with five six seven super bowls in a row i mean people are still gonna say yeah but he cheated or yeah but they cheated like that's kind of one of those things are you lend yourself available to when he decide to do something outside the rules i mean if you get caught then people are going to always question since he's been accused of being a cheater and he got it for there was a there was vide- someone video record it was like someone random on instagram recorded the ref sang got your back to brady during one of the final drives in the a._f._c. championship game and there's been a lot of that in where the refs like shake their head or nod their head to tom brady of some kind and there was also this is something that live people don't really look at but there was i think those two three years maybe sooner.
