"Ellie Kemper. I know that music. Yeah, I recognize that tune. It's from the the The Friends reunion. No, no, The office is the It's the theme song to Michael Scott. That's what that is. That's right work. World's best boss. Yeah, Jim, Jim and Pam. Remember that show and then in the later years, they added some people Right? They added, Andy, I bet I know what this story is about. Ellie Kemper, You know who that is She She played the new receptionist when Pam moved over to sales. She's Erin. She's the cute redhead. Oh, I like her. She wasn't in the original season, but she was on the show for quite a several years. Kind of young and bouncy, huh? And then she was also on a show called the Unbreakable. Kimmy Schmidt, did you watch that? Yeah. What do you think of it? It was weird concept for a show. What if you were a woman that was locked in a fallout shelter by a suicide cult for for most of your life? And then one day you were released from the underground bunker to go live in an apartment with a gay black guy in New York City, and it's a comedy. You sure about that? Yeah, it's a comedy. You know, if you say so. I wouldn't know. Anyway, Joel know what the veiled prophet is? Of course. Okay, this is I'm not going to tell us anyway. I'm not sure in an affluent member of the ST Louis community. Chances are you've never heard of this. The veiled Prophet is a debutante ball that's been going on since the late 18 hundreds in ST Louis, Missouri. I ain't never heard of it, Okay, It's it's they copied the concept off the mystic Krewe. You know what that is? I do. Indeed, The whole idea came from New Orleans. These people in ST Louis wanted to have their own high society ball. Some guy that was a former Confederate soldier who spent a lot of time in New Orleans. Confederate soldier, huh? I went up to ST Louis boy. Well, that was the time. You're careful. We're getting off into some tricky stuff here. Okay, well, that you know how touchy people can be. People are very touchy. To this day, The veiled prophet ball still exists. It's a thing in ST Louis, uh, with affluent members of the community there, and they're wealthy daughters something you mean white. Well, I think you mean white. Okay, I've never attended it, but it's Mhm. It sounds like a lot of rich people in ST Louis might be white. Look, a lot of rich people anywhere, probably white. It's You know this part of white privilege. White people. Can you see it? That's all right. White people built the country. Okay, if you want to know no slaves built the country. Don't you know that? That's why? Yeah, we got to give it all away in 1960 about 90% of the population was white. So what do you think? It was like in the 18 hundreds. You get my point Here. Get your point. All right, fine, So high society, ST Louis What does this have to do with Ellie Kemper and the office back in 1999? That girl, Erin from the office was the ball the queen of the ball. How old was she? She was a teenager. Presumably right. Too old for Joe Biden. Yeah. Yeah, Probably the year was 1999 disturbed, had a hit song on the Charts over their friends was still a popular TV show. Bill Clinton was your president and the girl from the office was a teenager, Ellie Kemper, and she won. There's a photo of her now that surfaced because of the Atlantic. Suggesting that the whole thing is a white supremacist KKK. Party for the rich and affluent, which really isn't necessarily true. She was 19. She was born in 1980. Okay. She was 19. The ball has nothing to do with the Ku Klux Klan right there, trying to draw a line here. She was a student at Princeton, apparently at the time, and she was voted the veiled Prophet Queen, The queen of love and beauty or something like that. Which is, uh, it's a ball. It's a ball for rich people. She's a debutante, and somebody figured out that the people that started this ball way back over 100 years ago might be considered racist by today's standards. No, you don't say something that started out In the south over 100 years ago. Might have been racist. Well, what they're suggesting here is the veiled prophet ball didn't allow black members to join until 1979. What a shock And you know who else didn't the Mormon Church? No one ever talks about that, do they? What about the Masters Golf tournament? Oh, the master. I don't know. I'm not even sure you're allowed to call it that I'd rather not. All right, So she was a girl, a teenage girl at a party if she wasn't necessarily a white supremo. Assist. But now there's an effort to get her canceled. Oh, good Lord because she went to a ball enough people. It's enough. It does sound kind of exhausting, doesn't it? It's just too hard to stay up with all this stuff. All right, I'll play along. Let's pretend that the veiled prophet ball, which nobody even knew existed until 10 minutes ago is racist. If that's racist than by the logic of what makes it racist. What isn't racist. Every every baseball team from the South was probably started by a Confederate it summers or something like that. Well, this in the South, it was 100 years ago, March, Mardi Gras would be considered racist. By their logic, the Mormon Church, the Southern Baptist Church, like Where do you draw the line here? What institution that come. Everything from the South must be erased and done away with guys. It's not racist anymore. It doesn't have anything to do with black people, and it doesn't sound like it ever really technically was part of the KKK. But that's the argument that they're making. Oh yeah, they'll they'll try. They just keep trying. Then one critic from the Atlantic said. I think the veiled Prophet thing is more nuanced than the KKK. Uh, yeah Dog whistle. It reminded me of a dog whistle racism, she says it reminds me more of the wealthy members of the Trump stirs trying to turn the BLM against each other guys. Are we still going to pretend that Trump supporters of the rich, affluent members of society? They're not? Democrats are higher earners more likely to have attended a major university and donate less to charity than Trump supporters do. I mean, I just where do we start with this thing? You break it on. The whole thing is silly and ridiculous. But, yeah, I guess Erin from the office is now considered a white supremacist. And and it doesn't matter if it's true. Did she do something to upset the liberal lunatics in Hollywood? Did she Did she show up at some kind of a memorial service for? Uh, you know, dead veterans or something like that, because that'll upset them. You know, Forget what Memorial Day's four I don't think so. No, I think the short answer to that would be no, She didn't You know that Chris Pratt? Dude, he had himself up a nice little moment, and I don't know why Hollywood allows it. No, they keep keep letting him be in movies and stuff. All right, So Chris Pratt, the guy from guardians of the Galaxy, and was also on what parks and rec. He's in trouble now because he supported the troops over the weekend. Wasn't that what he always does? Yep. It's Memorial Day weekend. Biden supported the troops over the weekend. A sort of, I guess I guess while hitting on a six year old right while hitting on a six year old in calling Texas Jim Crow State, um I guess that's what you have to do if you want to compliment dead soldiers. In the same breath. You have to call somebody racist and behave like a pervert. I guess it seems that way Tuesday. Yeah, it's Tuesday. Walton and Johnson Radio.

"Welcome back to the show on this Tuesday. Natalie Rodriguez with a trending story. Hey, Natalie. Hey there, Brian, chock it up. One more casualty to the Corona virus pandemic. This one is a big one. You mystic Krewe of Gasparilla says the parade of pirates and the annual Children's parade has been canceled. And it's all because of ongoing health and safety concerns. In statement from CRU Chair Peter Lackman, the Children's parades been rescheduled to January 22nd 2022 All the parole. The pirate first is now set to take place January 29th of 2022 as well. Well, poo. Yeah. That's all I've got to say about that. It's cool. All right. Thanks, Natalie. Right now we're just ducking the views. Well, we're talking about the president. The acquittal in the Senate. But what Happens next. There's been a lot of conversation about civil action being pursued against the former president and joining us is the legal analyst from Near the home of the president. The former president of the former president of the federal Bar from the Palm Beach Chapter. Democratic strategist Kelly Hyman joins us now. Good. A heavy killing. Good to be here. Thank you so much. I hope you were doing well. And I hope your listeners they're doing well during these uncertain, stressful times. Yeah, you know all things considered, you know, Consider pretty for being pretty fortunate. Now we'll talk about where we go from here with Donald Trump. First. Do you think there's a civil case to be made? Well, um, I You know, we have to see what ultimately happens in the court. But I do not think in. We were talking in regards to, um January 6. I find it highly unlikely that there's going to be some kind of prosecution for inciting the attack on the Capitol Hill. And so a lot of the conversation that has surrounded that topic coming out of D. C. That probably is more rhetoric that it is necessarily something that holds a legal reality in the courts. Well, you know, ultimately it's up to the courts, but I based on you know, um, the law. I find it highly unlikely that he will face criminal charges and connections of violation on the U. S Capitol. Now, Nancy Pelosi has said that she wants to get kind of a 9 11 to find out get some more information bipartisan from both sides of the aisle to figure out you know what happened on that day. But that doesn't mean they'll begin to be any kind of ramifications it regards to Trump. Yes, your point the idea of this 9 11 Sal Commission to investigate everything which you know, probably, and I think we'll be bipartisan support for that as well considering the Capitol police and Being level of preparedness going into it, how long it took to actually get reinforcements. Once it was clear that there was a problem, so you know, we'll we'll see that dynamic played as well. So you know, going forward. Then what is the new reality? Do you think from four Donald Trump remain legal perspective like, for example, some of The issues that were kind of in the background. When he was president. Do those come to the forefront again? Like some of what was being tried in the state of New York, for example? Right. Well, you know, ultimately it's up to them, but, you know, absolutely. Now you know, he's no longer the president. So there's there's um you know that investigation into him. There's also We have to remember the civil lawsuits in regards to the defamation lawsuits that were filed against him, and there's allegedly some investigation to it's his call to Georgia about about the elections as well. And as you know, there's some issues going in Palm Beach about him living in Merrill. Argo, Um Because it is one of the requirements is he? You know he can't live there. They made an argument that he's you know, the mayor of Mira Largo, and now he's an employee, so he's allowed to live there. Um, ultimately, I think Palm Beach County is gonna allow him to stay there. Yeah, because they correct me if I'm wrong, But you have the council, the town of Palm Beach that is already said that it is appropriate for the town upon beach to allow the trump family to remain, And in fact, they had been there in excess of seven days, many different times since the 1993 agreement was signed, and it looks like the town of Palm Beach is falling their legal guidance so When that piece probably just going to go away, right? You were. Unfortunately, my crystal ball doesn't work. But, you know, it seems it seems possibly that that's gonna you know, be doesn't mean that you know, there could be other ramifications because of it with, you know, with with his neighbors and stuff like that, um, so ultimately will have to say that frame. Kelly, I'll reframe road quick. How often does a city go against its legal counsel and matters such as these? Yeah. Unfortunately, I don't have any staff on that. But but it seems like that, you know, the council will probably take it. It's legal advice. Um and I don't I think that Trump will be allowed TOC a there. Yeah, It certainly seems that way. Can we appreciate it killing time? And again, the legal analyst in the former president of the federal bar the Palm Beach chapter of its and we'll be right back with state Senator Manny Here in the Brian Must show NewsRadio 16 w a. It didn't I didn't feel like we needed this whole week off. Yeah, I don't do it. Is that a normal? Well, not like I'm just saying like, I don't think we normally do right. There's a lot of days that I feel like we don't take off that when we get in here we usually go like Hey. Why don't we take that off? I feel like the exact conversation is because because normally we do the Friday we do the food drive, and then we get in here on Monday, and we say, Why don't we take today off? Everybody else's off, So that's usually how it goes. But not this year. We're ready and glad to be here this year. Damn right, let's go. All right, uh, by the way speaking the food drive the virtual feed the baby food drive. Thank you very much through everyone's collective efforts. $32,315 were raised in a very difficult year. So congratulations to everybody. A Cox Media Group Tampa, Michaela, Vero, Melanie Martin, and everybody who put this whole thing together. It it ran as well as a virtual food drive can run. And I'm happy to say That in a capacity we will be doing our toy drive on December 11th to help toys for tots. Once again. We'll have details as they come, but as of right now, We are doing the toy drive. It'll just be a little bit different. Obviously, being this year, you know, one of the cool things that we learned about the people that donated to the food drive on Friday was there was a massive amount of people that donated for the first time, which is really cool, so I know that even the people You know, if if they're that many people who are struggling, you know, a lot of people who are apt to give are probably not in the same category that they used to be A Zafar is giving so to know that an entire new group of people kind of stepped up and gave for the first time. I think that's a pretty cool side. Good job, y'all. Breaking news this afternoon. If you have not heard Gasparilla and Children's Gasparilla have been postponed until April. Got the email from Jen with Cracker Jack. We're just talking about Janet Jessica from crackerjack last week. Ah, and the Ye mystic Krewe. And event fest out of an abundance of caution and after consulting with health care providers. Tampa Signature Gasparilla parade will be postponed to a later date this spring. The decision resulted from an ongoing dialogue between event organizer, city leaders and health care experts. And I have to say hats off or pirates hats off to everyone who was in on that decision. It's the right move. Does it suck? Of course. Is it the right move with numbers being what they are right now? In the future being uncertain? Yeah, it's the right move, right? We didn't necessarily think about it on Friday, but going off of the tone of Mayor Jane Castor. We could have seen that coming because she She was very serious and very stern and talked about the scenario that the city is in the areas in right now it with with with, you know, kind of. Ah, a dire tone for sure. And happy birthday, by the way to her honor. Mayor Jane Castor 37 years old today. Oh, happy birthday to her. I'll throw these phone numbers. You're gonna need these. Now and later. Because today It's one of our favorite days of the year. Will be engaging in our annual tradition of drafting the perfect Thanksgiving dinner. Now there are three of us will be. We can't have an in studio commissioner. Nor commentator. It was fun when we could do those things, but we can't do those things anymore because no one's allowed in studio, isn't it? I said this to you before, But isn't it wild like you think of the time period that we've been living under these insane situations, and it's It's pretty much a year like it's not been a year, but to me were already heading into Christmas and New Year's. And then this all started in March, which is really just a short time after New Year's so like at this point In my mind this entire year has been lived under these and circumstances And it's just wild how quick it became normal and how fast the time still has gone. Oh, you're right. And here we are sprinting towards December and before you know it, it'll be 2021 from what everybody's saying right now. May is when things were going to go back to normal. That's what they're saying. What is normal? Well, exactly. I have no idea. No idea what normal is. I don't remember what it was. I think I think that the reports and the scientist that air speaking out saying that with a vaccine and a certain level of herd immunity, just taking place naturally like we will be in a better place. For normalcy. Whatever that looks like. Maybe that's being able to gather and crowds. Maybe it's less mask. I don't know what normal is anymore, but hopefully we find out again some day 7275791025 and 807 711 or 25, so this year's draft is going to be done. A little bit differently. It's going to be more interactive. There's going to be a collar element to it, not just in for whom we are playing. But also we will be actually drafting a listener to join our squad. Okay, I know we've talked about this throughout the day today. So s so throwing wrinkles in right now. Wrinkle? Well, here's my thought. Is that to me, you know, for the people that really appreciate the show being a part of Of Thanksgiving team being able to join one of us on the show to not only reap the benefits of you know if if it is deemed the best but also actually make picks. That's a big deal for somebody. I agree. So we What we didn't determine is how we're going to pick these people. Well, I thought we could. I mean, do you have a suggestion that you have a suggestion? Because I feel like they need to be qualified to be on our team because I don't want somebody to come out of left field and throw like something, um, like steamed cabbage or something onto my menu. That's a good point. Like what if somebody actually hates us, and they want to sabotage our team? That's kind of the thrill, isn't it? I mean, I'm not saying I'm playing chess and y'all are playing checkers. But you're talking to the Queen's gambit over here. Well, but you're just going to pick a line and hope that that person is going You be the one you want? No. Have someone lined up? No, no, no. There will be a slight interview process Where you determine the trustworthiness. Okay of the potential candidate for team John Team, Micah and in my case team Drew. Okay, So you know, we'll be well being Hopefully uncovering and discovering a little bit about our perspective. Teammate. OK, so okay, so okay. We won't just stick you with. You know, Jimmy Online three, Okay. Don't do that to you. Okay, Because that zone rogue element. That's a wild card. He could totally screw over your whole Thanksgiving dinner. So what was on your something? Well, I mean, that's not screwing it up. That's enhancing it. But your point is well taken. 7275791025 hashtag cam girl lasagna. The cam girl had a great lasagna. I mean, don't they all know actually do grab a live alone? Who are you? Dad is John. Hi, John. How was your weekend, buddy? Um, well, you know, working. What do you do? I'm a chef. Where, um I'm a corporate shaft. Um, I've worked for some of the largest steakhouse we in the world that he's anyway. I worked at burned for almost 20 years. I am, um What I was gonna shake..

over the weekend happened on Saturday night second person killed by a Mardi Gras float in the city in a matter of days the man suffered fatal injuries while he was at the club was rolling through the once prosperous coal powered bream point power plant which closed in twenty seventeen could like blue lock and what life would go out but this chimney didn't come down with the same fanfare as the implosion of the twin five hundred foot cooling towers last spring Swanzey residents were pleased with the better view of the water now the second these came down it was amazing helpful the dust was contained as planned hope that it's being taken care of like it should be specially for the surrounding areas and people like right here right across the river I am point said they were working with the state department of environmental protection to monitor Dustin air quality before during and after the implosion but some longtime neighbors are more concerned about the impact the future of the site will have on their local environment and economy there are proposals for it to one day house green offshore wind projects but for now the property is mainly being used as a scrap metal facility last fall the town of Somerset actually temporarily suspended the demolition permit for breaking point after residents alerted the fire department of four separate fires at the site over the span of six months right in point was also ordered to install more hydrants there Kate Walsh from Eyewitness News Brian Amaral in the Providence journal over the weekend said a hook a launch is slated to open in Providence in the same building we're a much maligned federal hill club used to operate the opening line of the new owners business plan at spruce street speaks to efforts to move past the controversy and the violence that embroiled at short lived predecessor the sin hogar lounge is not club seven Providence said what they said St which is owned by thirty year old a thirty year old will in Providence some of the things that have happened on federal hill sin was approved for its liquor license at a board of license meetings last week it also got a license for tobacco and food sales got that back in December not clear when the business will open up its still had inspection hurdles to clear apparently but already it's signs that signs are hanging outside so it's predecessor club seven closed after a group of its patrons beaten fatally stabbed remember a fellow patron in a nearby Walgreens parking lot last summer board of licenses had tried to shutter it permanently a decision that was reversed by the state department of business regulations so club seven no connection between the tragic murder and the club itself at least that's what this the attorneys for the club at the "Saloni I guess tomorrow night his big night right Mardi Gras big festival I pulled up the Bourbon street cam yep it's I guess a little after two o'clock in the morning New Orleans time at this hour Bourbon street pretty packed their chip I have yet to visit Bourbon street I did get to that on the one year we we sailed out of New Orleans for one of our cruises haha and we did get to go down to Bourbon street and that the law that's where Gary got his name had that that was my next question is Bourbon street we have Gerry is the one the guys just above the kind of disappeared on us and we we all thought he was lying in the gutter somewhere drunken he actually got a we got a taxi back to the ship or something but didn't tell anybody oops Bourbon street area I am I did there was a Mardi Gras time running but man it was I guess that was a Friday night because our ship departed Saturday morning it was it was mad house it's gets crazy all year I guess on the weekends I mean yeah they were doing the whole thing with the the beads and all out right a during Mardi Gras but really it's it's just your bars and bars in bars and you know places where you can eat and yell strip clubs here risque joints or whatever you know and that's about it now so it's kind of like a southern version of Vegas it's got a stench of stale beer or a raw sewage more leads more like raw sewage I mean there it's below sea level so yeah they've got the issues and right water I don't like hanging out in the the big toilet there was but it was a log lots of Liam the glitter the lights the shops the souvenirs it's just every now and big big party can I hang out near the Ohio River we did find a little joint like in the back alley somewhere where we were we ate a good meal the third they're notorious for their cuisine there that occasion cuisine and all that but it tomorrow night it'll be absolute madness because Mardi Gras fat Tuesday at stop signs big night that's it I reckon he will be working Wednesday morning I would have to venture as loanees off maybe half the staff will be here Wednesday it could be well what again it's all fun and games I guess till somebody gets hurt there was a there was a guy struck and killed by one of the floats during one of the parades in New Orleans over the weekend second person in that several days killed along the parade routes during this year's carnival the man that this guy fatally injured Saturday evening as one of the the the the parade was moving through dead at the scene now the rest of that particular parade was scrapped Saturday evening police said thirteen floats I had already gone ahead with this accident occurred with the fourteenth flowed in the formation remaining floats that followed along to your marching groups were diverted from the accident scene on the Canal Street and the the float now with all the lights still twinkling was gonna cordoned off by police on horseback you know all around the streets strewn with the tossed beads the necklaces the trinkets that are thrown from the floats so an outpouring of sympathy from the other parade participants that fidelity as New Orleans was actually mourning the death of a fifty eight year old woman who witnesses said was run over by a parade float Wednesday night got to be careful out there with those braids they've made some changes for the I guess they still have more parades on the slate through the day today adding to the safety concerns a person riding on one of the flow to the truth the trough the parade fell yesterday Sunday from a lower level he was injured the float rider was in stable condition at a trauma center Wednesday's fatality occurred during the the parade of the mystic krewe of Nick's which is an all female carnival group witnesses say the woman had apparently tried to cross between two parts of a tandem float tripped over a hitch that was connecting the sessions and was run over so now Sunday they tweeted that died New Orleans police has banned all tandem floats as they call it from the parades this tandem floats that's similar to the one that was involved in Saturday's incident you got multiple floods that are connected together being pulled by one tractor and I guess if you're under the influence of alcohol and you're trying to cross between the moving floats even other moving slowly your trip you get caught up in the book that's it two scenarios in Mardi Gras this week wrote about fourteen past the hour toll free at eight eight eight eight six zero eighty seven eighty file to get back to heat wave thanks for hanging in there thank you for keeping me on I appreciate the signal yeah what do you think about oceans on the start button button things up saying these folks must have guards on cattle guards are human guards really well anyways I was talking about the midway the latest version of it then I'll tell you what that was we all know how it came out and it's been you know they've had shows about midway in the in the battles you know over and over I mean this particular one it kept you in your state it kept you in suspense and itself and it sure sounded real good on my home theater break from so that will be my next you purchases along with the board versus Ferrari not much of a Ford yeah I mean it's American made muscle in some European handy and you know I'm all spaceman was emailing me Friday morning something about I guess he just saw that movie Ford versus Ferrari is it Steve you got to sit down and feel like a man for a couple of hours okay well well I guess you got a cold morning your written for Ford I guess that's the way to do it well Senora moment you go you're talking to your pleasure and a privilege and will alert you later all right thanks have not in any way if you got it about sixteen past the hour toll free at eight eight eight eight six zero eighty seven eighty five back in two on America's trucking network the recent reports America's trucking flag legato came out on top of what was supposed to be a two lap shoot out and and he stayed out under caution after not understanding as crew chiefs instructions to pet prodotto the late push from "But it's only he's got snow all week long yeah it's about seventy degrees out here now but it feels a lot hotter because not a cloud in the sky and the sun is beating down on us right now what's happening right now is there is it's a back and forth between each side of the street in terms of beans it's like some people on our side or thrown beads of the other side they're throwing stuff our way I don't know well there used to be an old tradition and the women would show a body part there to to get thrown at a five yeah and women are showing their body parts like that was going to make a huge difference on the beats that I throw out well I'm looking now there's you guys over here no search on they got a lot of beads Adam don't care about the three guys with no shirt on over there now the four women at their shirts on so yeah I've got Ryan Gorman I've got Jack here think of organized and I just watched a missile hello soon by Jack here is is that you guys got some hit my head that was it you got it wrong the others tension during Gasparilla you moved from down there while ever seen this happening yes well in all the years I've seen yet grow yeah this large we had the first major photo by the side from the crime stoppers NFA three and all that stuff came the next ones you miss the group gastroliths black boys and they will be in St Pete their way back there so it's going to be a long time before we get to describe the rest of this I don't think it's going to be over five o'clock I don't know what I'm interested to see is the cannons we're talking about this on PM Tampa Bay last night there is a former Tampa police detective who is suing the mystic room yeah over a cannon fire that that apparently made him basically almost death and and I you know I'm trying to think back to years past the cannons are allowed but I want to like pay closer attention this year to see if you're right under it take my word for it because I can join that suit there and I stopped when the we were on a parade and when I got to the bridge we hopped off and we're going to walk back to go to Joe Maddon Faust furs Gasparilla party and we walked under one of the flow through the cannons just as we were under at the cannon went off and I was just the right place to get them back and I got tonight I had about two years of it constant ringing in your ears well in one respect but it was ringing in my ears well I don't have it now finally one he was five years ago I remember the candy going on yes I just got to be a live action I remember the canning going on Jack no I thought okay the whole two years he was he had the rain is tonight Jack let's get the money man yeah I'll jump in on a wiser shirts still on that why is my store yes it will point what are we doing wrong at what point do I take my shirt off that we have awesome powers I got us our lease yes I do I brought I've dug in deep to get my beats from last year this and again I've seen forty seven or forty eight parades this is the biggest gap I've ever seen really anytime by a long shot they've got a problem make its way to us by around three o'clock and it seems like that might be the time frame based on where they're at yeah because we've already had the beginning of the parade go by five sales were one of the first units and being the Budweiser's a sponsor and now we got the mystic krewe gastroliths
