"Got the best ground game and South Carolina you know we're small state you can be from up where Clemson University as all the way down to myrtle beach South Carolina on a tank of gas the hundreds of people on the way there good you you just said something I find interesting you're saying that that it's still up for grabs in your today's only a fire wall no and and and right I mean we were always led to believe by the Biden folks that that was almost a sure bet because as a large African American community there and that's considered to be or what is considered to be Joe Biden's you know the people there are going to come out in droves to vote for him but yet you say it's still up for grabs I don't think it's up for grabs then I think that when you had the attention paid to audio with Hampshire sometimes you know places like Nevada and South Carolina may have been overlooked is as compared to other states you know in two thousand and eight it was Iowa and South Carolina for Barack Obama you consider the alpha and the omega but at the end of the day we're fixing to find out whether a campaign's been run on good will and made my day as opposed to putting in troops on the ground in every single county we've only got forty six counties in South Carolina we had a very significant milestone last week with twenty nine point nine percent of the registered voters in South Carolina are non white so a million thirty four registered voters are non white there's no question Joe Biden is well loved in this state but I think it's also extremely insensitive to the extent to assume that African American voters are monolithic and they're not pragmatic I remember remember Barack Obama didn't get a lot of support in two thousand and eight in the very beginning and South Carolina and Julie one Iowa and then the African American community came out and said you know we've got a candidate we can when we can do great things with and they got behind even coalesced behind his his race for president Jerry what happens to to Joe Biden yes he under performs in South Carolina well in a way to say it because I have such respect for him but I I mean I think the Biden campaign is out of gas I think than anyone trying to spin it any other way tonight is is whistling Dixie if you think it's had a gas already I do I do unfortunately I mean I think that you know I I I was an adviser to the Lieberman campaign for president in three in all four while it lasted yeah and one of the things I found was that you know he'd been that he'd been the vice presidential nominee for years before and acquitted himself very well it was a ticket that actually won the popular vote and what we found was that people would so we you know I lovely run but he sort of had his chance he's kind of yesterday's news time to move on to somebody else and I think that that's partly what's happening to Joe Biden and and and I I would agree with what Trav just said I mean I I think that assuming that African American voters in South Carolina are not smart or practical and they're going to they're going to throw their votes away on somebody's finishing fourth and fifth in Iowa and New Hampshire is disrespectful to the intelligence level of African American voters in South Carolina okay Travis I I'm I'm gonna need I'm afraid of kind of short answer from you on on this rather long question but I consider considering that African Americans in your state or not monolithic nor are they for that matter in any state I an art pragmatic voters I who's the pragmatic candidate other than Joe Biden that they might vote for is it going to be a clover tries it going to be a P. booted change or is it going to be a Mike Bloomberg well I mean Bloomberg we don't take right and he's not on the take it I do think that that Bloomberg would have had an interesting opportunity in South Carolina had he chosen but that that's neither here or there you know that's a great question is Bernie Sanders the recipient he's a lot Bernie Sanders learned a hell of a great deal from his race here in two thousand and sixteen from losing the quiet man he's made a very clear effort to connecting communities of color not little groups of three thousand but smaller groups I think the clover chore actually would be an interesting candidate and mayor Pete dot com star has made a heck of an investment in South Carolina he's got one of the largest staffs on the ground now I can't tell you what that staff is doing on a daily basis but there is some movement in the African American community yeah he has been one of the law the longest largest depositors in the only minority and bank in South Carolina and he's been working to give capital communities of color for many many years and that's something that a lot of white folks don't know about and I think you you're seeing that but I think there is a way that this could go several different ways I'm not sure that it's settled just yet and and you know we'll see what comes out of Nevada and to see what helps us when it is still down but I'm not sure I can answer that I think conventional wisdom says Biden holds on especially along among older African American voters but you know it's it's just like congressman Clyburn said his grand sign is working for mayor Pete and Sir there is a clear disconnect disconnect the poor word choice there's a clear difference of opinion among all varying degrees of our electorate in South Carolina right now and I don't think that it is solidified traversing German the South Carolina Democratic Party there was a short answer when Kay necks in debt up into that continues we'll get the Republican perspective on tonight's results and focus on California's primary which is just by the way three weeks away "Pet sitters World Conference in myrtle beach South Carolina and now what I'm gonna do is I'm going to share some personal tips for helping your pet sitter take better care of your pets pet sitters go above and beyond all the time and if it's one thing I learned over and over again at this conference listening to all their stories is that they truly truly care for your pets just as much as you do and the whole point is that peace of mind the best talked about giving you peace of mind while you travel I certainly know that I couldn't do all the traveling that I do and I do quite a bit of traveling if it wasn't for my wonderful pet sitter who take such good care my boys when I'm gone I don't have to worry about them I've had pets in the past that had special health needs and I knew that they were going to be well taken care of even when I wasn't there to do it myself so when you choose a professional pet sitter and I do want you to get a professional pet sitter here are some things you can do to make it easier one is you can make sure that they meet your pet ahead of time Beth mentioned this about the really should be a personal visit in there should you want to make sure that you click with the person that they're going to see eye to eye with you and that your pets are going to enjoy that person to enjoy being around that person watch how the person interacts with your pets are they friendly do they noticed the pet or your pets responding well to them no of course it if you have a challenging pet to maybe one that's a little fearful they're not going to necessarily suddenly climb in the lap of this person but you know your pet and you're gonna watch their interactions with this person be sure to leave a detailed instructions I am notorious okay I'm a writer what can I say but I leave page after page of instructions for my pet sitters she's so patient with me but I have details on what their medications are what they're feeding schedule is what their cues are hopefully all of my listeners are training their pets and your dog's gonna respond to specific use so leave a list for your pet sitter of what cues mean what for example if your dog has a specific cue to go potty it's a really helpful thing for the pet sitter to have you want them to have a nice selection in menu of cues that your dog will respond to dogs respond different queues based on what you teach them so give your pet sitter a list of the cues that your dog will normally respond to list of medications can be so important if you have a special needs pet that has a lot of medications you can certainly set up one of those pillboxes I have one for Sawyer Sawyer needs a lot of bills but he's got box like a little man with morning and night and seven days a week it's really convenient I lay it all out for my pet sitter so she's got it handy I use it for myself here at home to make my life easier to but in addition to filling that up I also leave the bottles what if your delay what if you don't come home when you need to because of a plane delay you want to make sure that your pet sitter has extras of everything so make sure you gonna give extra food definitely definitely tell your pet sitter where the food is if you leave your dog at a pet sitters home which is an option was some pet sitters make sure that you bring extras of everything tell your pet sitter where your pet's favorite places our favorite toys what kind of games they like to play make sure of course you leave emergency contact information not just for you but for someone nearby near your home that you.

"What are you doing giving all letting Jerry give his crazy theories about America? Well, Jerry from Milwaukee articulates the left wing position. Very well. Do you? He cited the statue of liberty. That's the way that the, you know, they're saying these people are in tough times. So I let him make his point because I want to contrast his point with mine. I believe he everything he's saying is correct. But I think that we have a right to to still say, no. And that's not a mean position. It is actually a compassionate position. If you think it through and that is that. If we allow caravans of migrants thousands at a time to barge into our country. We we don't have that means we don't have a border. It means we don't have immigration policy. It means it makes our country weaker when America is weaker America. The beacon of hope for the world not just in idea. But in actual being superpower, our military, our economic might it helps people the world over so to trash America by saying, oh, we're the statue of liberty. Let them all in. It it's not compassionate. That's my point Melissa in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Hi, melissa. She there. I think she walked away. Do I hear your footsteps, Melissa? Here is e. So what do you think? Is it are we being means to these people? No, absolutely. We're not being ladies to these people. These people are threat to our country. We can't support this many people come over all at once. And they need to be at home. These are mostly fighting age men who could fight at their own for their own freedoms in their own home instead of bombarding our system and coming in burning our flags and cursing America and saying how much they are president it appears like it's more of an invasion than it is people trying to just better their lives. I understand why they'd want to come to America to better their lives and with someone like towards funding. Why wouldn't they take that as an added cherry on top a bonus? Yeah. And and and we want them to better their lives, and I guess, Melissa. The question is. Lately. Yeah. And and so we always want to stress that thank you for the call. And I think that we want them to better their lives. Why can't they better them in their own country? And if people if these are the people, if you're assembling a group, a group of people who want to improve their lives the lives of their children and the lives of their fellow one would assume their fellow people their fellow countrymen and women. Wouldn't they be better served doing it in their country? It's like make your own neighborhood better clean your own your own room. I instead of abandoning it because then you're not being compassionate to all the people you left behind in Honduras. Adamant lake bluff, Illinois. Hey, hi, Tom. I don't know what these left wing people always quoting the statue of liberty. We'll get these people are coming up from Central America. And they're waving their own countries flags get left wing people see that. So they wanna come into the United States. They're leaving the SO country, and they wanna make that US into an assault. And that's why if there was a boatload of of Scandinavians at least, you know, they're going to try to simulate. Now in South America, the Colombian shape, the Chilean's, the Chilean Argentine Argentinian Argentinian people same thing with Brazelle. And you know, Paraguay and Uruguay they don't like each other. And they're more or less. The same people. It's the same thing in Africa, take Japan and China Asian. But you know, it goes back to three World War Two. Yeah. They so. Yeah, adam. So the idea is that the country leaves on Hondurans leave and go to Guatemala in Guatemala says you get out of here. We don't like your Hondurans and the Hondurans go to Mexico, and they say you get out of your. So they're not helping their own people in talking about, you know, South America, South Americans aren't helping South Americans. Why is it up to North America to do it? Right. Thanks for the call. Let's take Zeke in Knoxville, Tennessee. Hey, tom. How's it going? Good. Just two quick points. I'll get back to Jeremy in a second. But what they immigration, for example with this big old caravan. Look what happened in Europe. When example when that it was a day. Right. Although it was Arabic. People went to like, Hungary, for example, the Hungarian country they completely closed down their borders. But Angela Merkel's she allowed them all to come into into Germany. What happened about about half a year's time? They had their rate went up by almost twenty five percent. They had killings robbery. It just went south completely. And then to get onto the Mr. Jeremy my dad is an immigrant that came in the nineteen eighties. He came to the US. He would he left Romania. He actually went to the neighboring country. They rested him until an American consulate came to to sell and asked him different questions about America. Because he kept on saying he wanted to come to the US. Yeah. So I think that's what they need to do with with this caravan. Stop them over there in Mexico, put them in a logger and. And have an American consulate go over there to Mexico and actually vet every single one of them don't allow them to come into the country. Yeah. That's what they when they say catch and release. That's what the. Some people think that's a condescending term. But it's actually what happens they let them intake say, well, we can't send you back because you're so we're not gonna send you back to Mexico because whatever their policy, I think they should I think they should stop at the border and say sorry, you gotta go back the other way. And if they need any assistance doing that, they should maybe give it to them. But shouldn't let them in the country because they let them in. And they say, well, we're not really leading a win. We're letting you come in. And then we're gonna upset a date, and then you're going to be able to prove that you need asylum and then the day comes and they end up staying anyway, thanks for the call Joe and Eljay Georgia. Tom fantastic show Thomas. I told your screener I think the Cavanaugh controversy plus the caravan I think those two factors plus great shows lack years will lead to the Republicans winning the midterms. I think we we just can't afford. We want to be compassionate. I agree with what you say. We want to be compassionate. But Tom, we just can't afford them. We have a twenty one bit. We can't take these seven thousand there'll be many more thousands. And you just have to say, no, I think in the long term. It's like you say it's in the best interests of the country. And thank you for taking my call. You have an incredible show. Mega Joe L, O J, Georgia. Let's take Paul in the Ozarks, Missouri. Thank you, Tom. Let me get through this. I have a few points to the statue of liberty guy. I'm not an immigrant. I was born here in the poem on the statue of liberty was not written by our founders that you came to no one hundred and thirty years later or so Emma, Lazarus trees, not an idea. Okay. It's a it's a set of written laws. You know, the problem of the masses is the idea was compassion. They wanna talk about compassion. How compassionate is it to let these people in while we have chant CDs set up in every major city in this country that we can't take care of those people. So how compassionate are they being to the people that are here on our streets, and then in the refugee laws, I believe that it actually says that you can't pass through a refugee state in order to get to a second refugee state in claim status there. I think that's actually in our laws also refugee it's supposed to be the closest it's supposed to be the closest state. Right. Exactly. Yeah. And he has a right to shut down the border. There's actually an article in law that says he can stop an invasion of aliens. So, you know, those are the points that I had Well Paul, thanks for the call and three points statue liberty. Yeah. There was Emily Lazarus and whenever they they do. Site that poem, and they cited as part of like America's. American history. And no it is not it has nothing to do with. You know, give me your tired. Your poor your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teaming shore. I'm saying it from memory. But I think I'm getting it. Right. The I never even like that word anyway. Calling them wretched refuse. I know it was it was kinda tongue-in-cheek. It was meant to say that we take everybody we take all but not even Emma Lazarus who probably was it didn't have a vision of America that is shared anyway, I don't know all too much about Emily. The even again, let's let's take her at her word. She doesn't say anything about undocumented. There's a way to commit, and that's why it's Ellis Island. Give me your tired your poor come into Ellis Island, get registered. Do it. The right way. The caravan is not doing it that way. Beth in Roanoke, Virginia. Hello, sir. Hello beth? So my point is this. I wish that we would quit giving the less arguments credibility. You know, do they really don't care about compassion. The powers that be on the left knowhow to incite the young liberals with the argument points of compassionate, and so forth. But that's not what it's about at all they can distract the young liberals with those points, and they can call the young liberals to create a big star in the country and caused the Republicans to be distracted because we're fighting fighting the young liberals. Yeah. Well, although do you like my I am for the purposes of discussion because you know, that's where you're having in the country are having an argument, I do like to give their arguments credence or I like to hear them. I like to air them and say look for an issue like this, for instance. Sometimes I say, I reject the notion, I reject your premise of your argument. I might say that if I were debating someone, but in this case, I can say to them. I actually agree with your premise. These are. I don't even know if I really agree with it. Because I think some of the people in the caravan are not fleeing violence. But let's assume they are let's take them for the purposes of argument. Let's take the liberals at their word, even then they don't fit the criteria of people that should get in our country. You know what I'm saying? Because clearly they hate us. And you know, if Chuck Schumer or Nancy closely, what's energy wing, some of these people, and those people came to an interview and said, I hate you. And I'm going to cost a lot of trouble. When you hire me, I'm gonna destroy your house. I hate everything you stand for how long do you think they'd be allowed to set their do you think they really hate us bet. Let me I'll play some sound for one of the people. Well, I'm gonna let me play the sound from this person in the caravan. See what they think of us. Donald Trump is the anti Christ. Well, maybe you're right. I don't know one of these people. Yeah. I mean, it's really bad. Thank you so much for the call. Let's take let's take Stephen Seattle. Hey, tom. How are you today? Good. Are you doing good? Yeah. So what I was telling your your screener there earlier is my parents, they emigrated to the to the west from Hungary back and fifty seven. And you know, when the communists took over fifty sixty seven, you know, they wanted them to join the communist party, and they were threatened, and you know, in the middle of the night, they stop and paid somebody some money the much as they had and they walked out of the country through you know, minefields and like that and ended up in refugee camp for nine months, and my dad's dream was kind of the United States and the the quotas were closed for the US for the longest amount of time..

I have no idea. But I really really sorry. Yes. You need to stop doing that. Whatever it was. All right. So you're right. They're not only are you right there on the beach. I mean, you're right there on the coast. I don't know if you're standing on the beach, but you're right there on the coast. Oh, actually, Joel. I'm standing actually, above the beach. What six floors up? Let's go out on the balcony here. The waves. We don't have a lot of win here. The waves. Now, the surf is literally really really up, and and you can see that that foreigners is turning the seat. It's calm out there. But the storm surges starting to kind of move in here, we're expecting six to nine feet storm surge here in Myrtle Beach, that means from where I'm standing about one hundred fifty yards above the beach. It's gonna come right up to the hotel is it goes town there. You'd think so, but it's really not. And that was one of the things that I thought was most fries you've heard a lot of warnings all over the Carolinas one point six million people under an order to evacuate. But Joe they're really not leaving in that kind of numbers. I've got some good friends here. And I want to say to him I spent the evening with them. That was a great neighbor. Vine just beyond say, his mother and her best friend, and they live just a couple of miles off the water here, and I sat down and had dinner with him. And I said guys you're not leaving. Why is that any decided a couple of reasons? One is they have pets. They can't go to a shelter and hard. Chewed. They said the expense of trying to evacuate. You don't think about it? But look there's gas. There's hotels there's meals on the road that's pretty expensive especially in a long duration event. Like this and three they said, we don't know what it's going to be like trying to get back into our homes to see what the damage is liking, the salvage whatever's left. And so they've chosen to stay here. I tried to talk him out of a job. But there were adamant about it. Yeah. That seems ill advised, and that's one of those things where is you know, you gotta have a plan before storms. Come. You've gotta have a shelter. You've gotta identify shelter that allows you to take pets. Are you've got to have some other system. You know, you don't want to abandon your pets. And you certainly don't want to leash them tie them to something. Because as the water rises, you will be killing your pets. So you've got to do something to to take care of them. But these are plans you got to get worked out before the storm season even approaches. Absolutely. And that is that is an ongoing issue. The thing about the patches really kind of heartbreaking. And so a lot of people choose to stay. And when I looked into the neighborhood. I was kinda surprised at just how many people have said they were not gonna go anywhere. So kind of trepidation about it. They were a little concerned. But others were like, look, I'm just not leaving. There's nothing you can do this gonna make me in South Carolina. There's no law that says that you have to do that job. But there is. Certainly the possibility that you might be liable for the cost of rescue. "Morning. America's First News continues on this thirteenth day of September. Thirty four minutes past the hour and time is running out to flee hurricane Florence. The monster of a storm. Zeroing in on the southeastern coast with more than and million people in its potentially devastating sites. Its top sustained winds speeds dropping from a high of one hundred forty miles per hour to one hundred ten miles per hour as outer rain bands approached the North Carolina coast early Thursday, reducing the storm from category four to eight two, but forecasters warned the enormous Winfield has been growing larger raising the risk of the ocean surging onto land as of five AM eastern. It was centered at about two hundred five miles east southeast of Wilmington North Carolina and about two hundred fifty miles east southeast of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, moving at about fifteen miles per hour. Well, President Trump is being criticized for his assessment of the federal government's response to hurricane Maria calling it incredibly successful even though nearly three thousand people died the president.
