"How'd you describe it as a player you know. Like i said he He's one of the few guys that i've had that was on the varsity pretty much all for years. I'm looking back to some of the electrified. Defensive plays That he made any any any made it. Look so easy and so smooth jovan. Sometimes after the game about looked at play made the Unbelievable what a play smooth. But at and i both knew there were countless. O of drill work that he did with his feet and cone drills and things like that on that allowed him up to make it look so easy and we. When i was joking people come out and see you make plays and not everyone realizes. Oh you know all the hard work that went into on him being able to make plays in the way that he did but he was really at times highlight reel here. What's your communication with them. Now you know we we. We exchange tax He's on groups ride. What some some of his teammates that are also professional baseball so we just you know exchanged messages. It's not always about baseball. We check in and out. These are going in life out after feel a minor league baseball grind small town so We talk every couple of weeks or so just style things are going and just trying to keep keep them up keeping positive and you know just Reminded him to keep having on and trying to get a little bit better every day. You talk to us off air a little bit about a story where an individual kid you said was wearing mount carmel shirt at a myrtle beach. Pelicans game and and ed Went up to him. Took a picture with him. And your share with you. Can you count that story briefly. If i got it remotely correct and just what did that mean to you about him saying that that like now komo's always a part of him. What does that mean to you. As a coach into the organization as a whole yes and what we were talking about offline before we started the interviews and sometime in july There was a family from the chicago area. Here that has on eighth grade on that is hopefully going to attend all cardinals baseball player. They were neural bijon vacation on. They decided to take it a game. After the game At happen otis. Al karmel t shirt on fans and graciously came over and talked to the family. You know sign some autographs. I even think the family Pity gate at game. The banning gloves on site a phone call immediately from the dad. Just so impressed with How nice and respectful. Ed was to his wife and kids. So of course you know i. I shot at attacks. You know thanking them and he's like of course coach and anything from carl But that's you're surely after. He got drafted in the first round. I do a summer camp here for grammar school Boys and it was probably two or three weeks after he got drafted he was still on shutdown due to covert so he was not sent to a minor league facility came out for two hours and talks kids sign autographs and did all those types of things but that that is just at you know he just you know he didn't have to do that But that's i feel like i always always gonna be. He stay ensure the person he's been since i met him when he was six or seven. Is there a memory from his time at mount carmel. that stands out to you now. I there was so many so many great games. I think if you ask. Ed is probably going to be from his sophomore year against saint lawrence we are. We fell behind An extra innings of saint lawrence court for the extra innings. We came back One of ads teammates at a grand slam to tie it to eds up at brian. Auger band like a seventy bag. Based up the middle he steals second base against a really good catcher and then is teammate. Drove him men and we walked it off. So that's the memory that always gonna share. We absolutely have many a software related to the national high school tation interior north carolina and we got to experience that together just so many. So many I've known that since he's about six or seven th grade so But probably the one against saint lawrence would be the one that stands out to me is. Is there an off-field memory that stands out to you. I would say off the field is just you know we talked a little bit about this. Too is is watching him. Trained school starts here at eight o'clock and in offseason. Moms you know three or four days a week. We get here at six in the morning then we work so i think off the field just witnessing him putting the time in seeing him want to be great and just sweating it out. Sweat office facing the way room at six thirty in the morning and then having to go through a full day of his academics is classes. He was a great student So often feel to seeing him put in all the hard work to get the best he could be the champion than is what stands out to me coach. I really appreciate the time. Thanks for making a great. And i'm looking forward to seeing finished at wintrust. We know true fans show their team pride every chance they get with cups checking goalscorer score cubs debit card. So you can show your support every time you pay open today at wintrust dot com slash cubs weekly one hundred dollars required to open member. Fdic land so they're talking to coach. Harry what was your biggest takeaway after speaking to him. Think how much appreciation you have for. How much sure. Ed was on the field also field on the field. Being getting there at six o'clock sweating through workouts as a high school kid and then off the field just giving back to the organization the mount carmel varsity baseball team. And i think I think there was a story in there. He's talking about you. Know there's a kid who came to merle carmel. Shir and ed interact with the kid and then it's just that relationship and how professional at is and on and off the field is just. It's it's very apparent when you talk to ed and especially when you've talked to coach hurry. You just makes both exhibit Curry exude the appreciation for an hour for being very mature. And then talk to. You're like yeah yet it you know. So that's awesome in. You know at just kind of set. The scene we wanted to show at howard Just like a forty second. Thirty second message from coach areas if areas talking to ed so at the end of that interview right there. What you're not hearing if you're going to hear in the ad howard interview is hurry kind of giving at a little bit of a motivational message. That didn't know about so. We were hoping to kind of get a bit of a most reaction from him and we think it worked so it was a cool experience to to see his coach text. But it doesn't seem like they you know. He hasn't seen been back there since march. I think had told us so. It's as long as he's been away from home. It's been a while. So i get back to the mental side like there's a ton of adjustments for him but he's really mature kid and i imagine he's you know we see with how lockneys now that he's getting through it. I think that will shine in your sit down with at howard so the moment you've been waiting for handle listen this whole podcast yet. Here's your sits down with our. I'm really excited. Joined by ed howard. The cubs twenty twenty first round. Pick from the first year player draft. Ed spent the whole season in myrtle. Beach here a little bit of struggle initially but now you've got hit some twelve year last fourteen. You.

"Just kinda talking. Like internal cues with him. Is this very cerebral. And mindful of what he's doing in the box and it manifests in his stats. He's walking over. I think twenty percent of the time right now is bodies pretty advanced for nineteen year old. Like i i. Don't expect like kevin apart in the rizzo train some other even press yada. I think those guys can put on a lotta poundage in complex league and you see them develop a casey's he's just advance he's just matured physically and you're seeing that he had a home run last night one. Oh five miles per hour bat. Dead center left left singer. Down in is a really impressive ball like i just. I'm excited to see his development. I haven't fourth on my list. So is going to get some some prospect. Get some validation on that validation from the scouts. I've talked to that. Really liked him. Is is one of the more offensive impact. Potential bats at the major league level In the system. I think a lot of other players hoping for the best to come but i i almost feel like it's almost here for casey and it's a matter now refinement through the minors so really excited about him and the other. One is krista franklin. Arkansas kid we primarily had that interview and talk through the whirlwind last couple Couple months. it's been for him early. June he was in the super regionals against nc state with arkansas. They lost unfortunately a month after that. He was drafted by the cubs In the fourth round of the twenty twenty one draft. I believe and then about a month after that. He got assigned to the acl Played a little bit. There was walking a ton clearly to advance given how much collegiate experience. He has a highly dealin. D one level and then a week after that he gets assigned to myrtle. Now he's in myrtle and he's walking on again so both those guys. I liked him very pass. Obviously case with high school certain franklin with a ton of college experience but they both have similar profiles based off base percentage. They're really good at managing disown base. I think that maybe it's something that comes. Targeting potential interns just being able to convert. Some of these guys have higher floor guys to mix in with some of the huge upside that they acquired the deadline. Yeah so speaking of that. I just included casey in minor league reports this past and he had just got called up as you know of course to myrtle beach. She hasn't been there that long. But when i was looking at his stats in the league did you notice lance his on base four. Seventy eight two thousand. I had to like. I said that i had a quadruple check that i'm like looking at a slog of my game show host funny with right before we went on with interview and i think the beginning the interview he was like i was in the complex for a while and he said it away that was like i thought it was going to call earlier and i was like i was doing. We're looking at these stats clearly advanced level. You don't need for body maturation like easy to build kid. I don't expect them to put on another twenty pounds. Like i just i was. I was surprised. But i mean. It's it's validation that he should have been up potentially but earlier but obviously those decisions to be able to cubs and they have internal things that they're they're going off. But i mean twenty percent walk rate a homer and he's not striking out a ton as a nineteen year old at this level. Liked he i. I wouldn't be shocked at push into south next year out the gate and backfill backfill myrtle with some other Outfielders honestly yeah and if people are wondering six four would you say about one ninety. Still this is kind of what i'm looking at. He's probably two hundred. Plus i feel like those those always like fifty pounds short. No i just make sure you look one. But yeah i i when i was looking at his numbers and stuff for that report. Basically you look at you. Think he's a stud right now. He's really coming into his own. And i bring him up. Not just because us top of mind but also to your point I think there were some not a lot of questions. He thought to move forward like this but because he didn't have a lot of pro experience or even upper level experience Prior to this just he hadn't seen a lot of baseball because all of that. So i mean i. It's it's i. It's one of those things. I think also got up to really slow started. Extended sprang from scott talked to a lot of people. Initially were kind of off him. Were like I'm not really sure what's going on then. I think there was a small injury that he was dealing with. And then i think there's probably like you could probably split at complex leaguer. E extended stats. Don't think our public. But i'm sure if you took the aggregate of everything you looked at the extended. There's probably a point at which you're like okay. Is heating up probably healthy now so That's kind of my impression. That's maybe why he was held down there. Maybe walk it off initially but looking good right now. Yeah for sure. So far Progressing nicely insane. Jewish franklin also use cases the cubs number nine prospect franklin the cubs twenty first ranked prospect. And then the cogs thirteenth ranked prospect. I want to ask you about dj hers. He was promoted to south bend And then now. He's a lefty pitcher Out of high school north carolina. And i want you to really tell me more about him because of just what you've been seeing down there and through all your your travels of. Yeah we did it. M to pitch scripts which i've been meaning and wanting to do for a while to get some democrats rex. This is a great kid. He's from fayetteville. And i think the thing that no is that you know he's been stretched out a lil as the season's gone on in his last star in myrtle was in fayetteville his town and he had like a bunch of family there. He just kind of like glowing when he was talking about. He's just like it was like. I mean i imagine merle like they they drop pretty well here especially during the summer and stuff but right now. The kids just went back to school. So it's not as busy here. But he said that. That crowd was insane. Like the the stands right by the bullpen so he had a bunch of family. They're all cheering them on. And then he said the moment for that. I was like when he was coming off. The mound like even ovation from fayetteville opposing team was like happy because i was think it was his hometown. And yeah absolutely shoved through five and the third. The canine is best started the year by mile. You look at his his game log and stuff and he's obviously like a pretty advanced pitcher. He's got advance phillies fastball. Curveball change just saint change the chain of grip till like a bit of a vulcan which i guess if you're on video splitting it between your middle you ring finger as opposed to going with the classic college rex. Three finger change circle chain so Is is advance these really funded. Talk to he knows what he's doing on the bound The vertical movement on the fastballs really gets and it's gonna live up into zone pretty well. I think which is one of the reasons why i like. Adam is audible mentioned on my list. So i just wanna see more from him. He's really really young but it's great that he's pushed up. Ira a very interested to see what fares against those gators because it seemed like a definitely hit a group that alaska starts on special strike outside. But he's got a huge leg kick off the mountain which is fun. It's just these funk eighties. He's really nice. He's tapped into what he's doing is really cool. Talk to grips with him. And i'm exciting team in south bend. I think it's going to be pretty good exposure. Did he explain why he does that. Change upgrade you know. I think it's actually a cubs internal thing and i tweeted about this. 'cause i notice it's funny. We talked to kill killing. Who came over from the san francisco giants in the kris bryant trade and caleb said that he just switched the owner and i also also talk. Talk excuse me with max band itself but a couple types. He's switch to early this year. So i think it's like to not to get super in the weeds but some guys can spin better than i can pro so if they spin better. They're more affinity for things. Curveballs sliders Better a little bit more affinity for things like change ups and once it could do both are generally like the max scherzer's you know. Kyle hendricks of the world really are the elite pitchers. So i think in theory the idea is that having that fulton grip almost helps you donate it forces your hand opponent. So if you're not particularly adept at it it'll allow you to kinda create a better change. So my guess is that becomes like that if they see a guy with a change of the profile. And that's just not that good they're just volkan and try it and throw a fastball. Grip do is you hear. All the time of changes throw fastball. Grip in your finger. The weaker fingers on the ball creek kill spin so to speak. So that's my theory on it. You'd have to talk to someone higher than the cubs work to be able to confirm. But i'm relatively confident. That's probably the information though lance lead..

"Black kids near myrtle beach so they went to church instead all our lives. We heard about years that they were being educated in the churches because while the sunday school teachers were also schoolteachers but the community decided they weren't going to wait around for a public school system. Didn't care about them in one thousand nine thirty two a year before cookies. Mom was born the community built. Its own school house in myrtle beach and for a long time. There was a question about who paid for the school. A lot of people thought the money had been donated by a guy named julius rosen walled. Chilliest rosenwasser was the ceo of sears. And roebuck he believed that all children should be educated including african american children's and so key donated money throughout the country for these schools to be built for african american children between one thousand nine hundred twelve in nineteen. Thirty two more than five thousand. Three hundred rosenwasser schools were built across the south. But the myrtle beach school was not a rosenfeld because in order for schools to receive that distinction funding from mr rosewall had to be used to build the school with the of beach. One the community families. They could all their resources together. And the model is rosen wall but it was their money and their time and their skills which gives a greater sense of prior blood. Sweat and tears is parents and grandparents sacrificing for their children. That was incredible for nineteen thirties. Years later the former student sat down to be interviewed and to share memories. We had to do without a lot of things that we need for instance. We didn't really have a gym. We didn't have any of the other extras like. Are one of the former students shares. This story of how they would go every day across the stream alimentarius but they live right across the street bedrooms house right across we go over there and take all this stuff to make soup pot and then we'll bring it back over here and serve it to the kids. Know the kids are telling you what it was like to walk to school in be cold no bus in no transportation to play basketball outside because there was no jim but to express the importance of education and their appreciation for what they had even though it may not have been much compared to others. They appreciated so much that they have the myrtle beach. Colored school was not a public school. It was not state funded. Many of the teachers were still the same ones who ran the sunday school. The students first principal was a local reverend and their curriculum or whatever wasn't sanctioned or a state approved because it was supposed to be educated in one thousand nine hundred eighty three carver training school opened in myrtle beach. It was a new and better school for black students. So that's where they went instead. The colored school was used as warehouse storage for a while but before long it closed for good just one year after the new school opened in nineteen fifty four the. Us supreme court declared that racial segregation in public. Schools was unconstitutional. But still it would take ten years before schools in myrtle beach would actually be integrated in nineteen sixty four cookies. Older sister was one of the first four black students to integrate myrtle beach middle school and in nineteen sixty eight. Cookie was one of six black kids to integrate the local elementary school. And while all of this was happening but old school their mom had gone to just sat. There sat in an asbestos and just wear and tear elements. Whatever over years in the late seventies a group of former students started trying to save the building and turn it into a museum but they didn't have the money they needed so the school sat there for twenty years until two thousand and one the road it was sitting on was about to be widened and the school was going to be bulldozed. The former students created a committee. They worked with the myrtle beach city council and came up with ten thousand dollars but it wasn't enough. The abandoned school was in really bad shape. It was just unsuited. Wasn't here to be used. And so you know when. They realize that they're building on. Was it safe Was able to be saved in. They really started aggressively to security. Means to have a replica of the school. They organize themselves in in. Created a cookbook. Ten dollars in. It's still in circulation. I mean we have in the low at the museum of for sale. But they also rallied a group of local organizations in private donors to help. They raised money but also donated a lot of labor and materials and then the community came together for a second time to build this historic school. So welcome susan historic mortgage coastal museum and education center where we call it the heating jim not just within the city but within the status after ramana the miracle off the today. A replica of the school is home to a museum for years. The former students give tours of the museum themselves but now most of them have passed away so the next generation has taken over. This is one of the One of the front doors. This is one of the doors. Cookie spent thirty years as an educator for the local school district before becoming the director of neighborhood services for the city of myrtle beach. She and her department are the guardians of the museum entrusted with the former student stories. This is a edge of their top original. Talk boards that we have framed. And we're waiting on to have it mounted the other. And there's one other artifact that's been preserved it was especially important to cookies mom. The name color school there were people that really really upset near worse meeting after meeting. After meeting about the name. I might be offensive. That might be. My mother said it may be but in order to retain and maintain our history. That was the name of the school. The myrtle beach colored school and we wanted to forever be in the forefront so that history will never repeat itself. They wanted their history to always be a part of the city of this community of the neighborhood..

The air was thick with humidity in anticipation a stretch limousine pulled up and eight individuals got. They were in their seventies and eighties. They were wearing bright blue graduation gowns. This was their school. Their community had built it for them back in the early nineteen thirties. Before they were allowed to attend the local schools. Were white kids went. It was called the myrtle beach colored school and on this day. The students were back to collect the diplomas earned decades earlier and there was not a jot. I in kreil. I think april eighteenth spring carnival downhill bike race. At the elliott resort in alaska. That sounds groomed downhill fat bike in the snow. Bam there's a link in the show notes check it out dude. That does not a lot of fat bike. Events coming up in the warm weather like we talked about last week I think that's a good plan. There should be a warm weather. Fat bike race series. You know we need to do a a recon mission to because what i've noticed this spring the spires. I haven't seen any high water on the milwaukee river anything. And i'm hoping that bodes well for us to have a little bit of shoreline on lake michigan. I've been prodding and poking at it here and there on trips north sturgeon bay baby. That's that's the closest good one. John attract two hours at bite ours. Stay up there. come back the next day to. There's a lot of interesting stuff up. Sturgeon bay finished houseman. Big boats big boats boats ships and some Sunken ships off for those little islands. Sturgeon bay they got sunken ships everywhere. Well yeah yeah. But there's like a nice little tiny little island cropping peninsula. I just actually saw a picture of it couple of hours ago. Jesty took him ahead. Samson moab sam's out and mohammed. This is cinemax from great pictures. Sending pictures picture too. I haven't seen any pictures from. I invited him to be on the show. But i think he's writing some trail today and would not be done yet. Yeah he also one of them side-by-side things. He didn't one of those adventures. Where you're like. Sorta like all of the midwest for the coasters but Think i will check that out more because basically there's a lot of stuff going on the beach beach. It's what's for dinner fat by that right in. Beach is kind of. I think this summer. There'll be michigan action hoping there is a little more got to get my gotta get my wheels in the sand berms. Otherwise what do. I have a very expensive at lake for liquid geared fat baa than right in the beach. I'm currently internally geared. Lois your well. If i'm gonna go geared an internally geared hub. I have to go to a one ninety off for the chamba and that just spells ch- cheang so we'll have to. We'll have to see bri be an venture but it'd be really fun to take the Electric long tail on the beach. It would until sand got in its. Jj ugly. i think. I don't think a bottom bracket mounted motor is a good call on sandy beach. I think we should research us. I'm not so sure that's not not necessarily not true. If you provide a little bit of greece. I think it's fine. Grease that attracts sense. That's true too. I think i'd i would think that a hub motor would be better at that but we can always torture tested. I don't care it's not my motor say He doesn't steve. Be like the rebuild these things. Yes as a matter of fact. Stephen and i started on a couple of bikes today at the new place face. So and then i discovered that one of them's a twenty nine and i did not plan ahead and heff any twenty. Nine wheels built with motors. So going to have to sorta kinda change some steph around. I guess row. I've been slowly getting them because getting stuff in from canada right now. It's a pain in the ass if it's over twenty five hundred bucks a stuff. There's so much customs bullcrap ary and terrorism stuff that makes it almost not worth doing. But if i ordered them one off they slide in under the radar so whenever pain in the ass right still got some bikes to sell. I don't know i got a new I got a new maverick frame last week. I think we should show that so. I do have a medium bra clear coated aluminum wyatt. Maverick fat bike frame. That was a demo that might be available to someone. That's pretty but also got a couple of roelof one thirty five pups red in color. Which which i have not found a use for yeah. They're not wheels anymore. I only have one bike with off on right now. And that's about. How many roelofs a person needs i believe could point so. I'm happy with the bike that it's on but i don't think i'm going to build a whole bunch more to build that That fargo could go roll off very easily though could not read. I read it have to be black. "And you can listen to this show or a plethora of others just downloaded and listen to it whenever you feel like it now, my next guest is the beer brand manager for a brewery. That is currently in Delaware. There got two locations, but next year the brewery, which is I mean, next year is right around the corner. But next year the brewery will be branching out and not just down the road put in a whole new state details on that and more about the brewery itself. If you had to croaked hammock brewery dot com, That's the website. For more information. Let me welcome to the show for the first time. John Shura. John, How are you? I'm doing great. Thanks, Ally Radio doing well, my friend John. The theme of the brewery is all about from what I see here, relaxing and chilling out. How did the brewery get it started? Yeah, that's that's definitely if you hit the nail on the head, our founder rich care hand um, very hardworking guy. Um, he left his New York City busy corporate life job and moved to the beach down here in Delaware on and he wanted to find that relaxed kickback and a hammock type lifestyle s O. He used to have this old Beat up panic that he had in his sister's house when he moved down the beach, and he was just starting his his career down here, and that was kind of his moment of Zen after working a long, hard day in the hospitality world. You would come home, Crack open a nice beer and take his feet up in his old beat up panic, Hey, would laugh because he would say he's the only person that could sit in it because it was so crooked. He was the only one that knew how to do. It s so when he dreamed of having a craft brewery. That's where he went back to to grab the name so very cool. Now in the midst of a pandemic. I know it's been very tough, not only on breweries, but obviously the hospitality industry and a lot of different businesses. You guys are opening a new location in Myrtle Beach. Tell me a little bit about the location. Yeah, for sure. So it's actually it's gonna be a North Myrtle Beach and barefoot landing. We had been approached a couple of years ago about the potential of the partner up and open this facility on and it just seemed like A great place for us tohr craft and to take our you know, Backyard Beach escape type lifestyle s So it's actually it's gonna be a great facility will have two different buildings. One will be where the brewing happens where all the magic happens that I create. On deal have a nice tap room inside there for brewery tours and beer tastings. And then, just across the walkway, we'll have our 600 plus feet restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. We'll have backyard games outside will have AH bar set up outside to walk up there, walking through their landing and grab a beverage. But we also we're gonna have an island bar out on the Intercoastal waterway there. Which of the 3 60 views on that waterway where people get hang out, Drink some brews and listen to music and have a great day. That sounds very cool. And you're also having a job. Fair this coming Tuesday. The 15th for anybody that's interested down there that wants to get a job. Is that correct? Yeah, for sure. Luckily, you know, we've been able to stabilize ourselves and sort of adjust on the fly like everybody else has had to. Theo definitely had its challenges. But we've kept our doors open. We've been We've been very diligent about protecting both our staff and our guests. S so we take every safety precaution and we follow the rules to a t Probably a little bit more. So to keep everybody safe. Um, but it's been challenging. But, you know, we're still offering great service. Great food We've, you know, definitely focused More on to go options. And a question for you, John about the new location in North Myrtle Beach. When you were going into it in the construction faces of the project. Were you considering the social distancing aspects the kind of new norm as it is for businesses to kind of adapt to that? You know, having Maura outdoor space so that people can spread out a little bit more from a social distancing standpoint. Yeah, For sure. So when we first started the project, we started construction Cove. It was not a thing. Um, so we had to adjust on the fly a bit. Um, so we've we've done the best that we can. We have kind of three different for plans that we've worked through, Um, based on how things are looking and what restrictions are gonna look like, But one of the great things about us is we do utilize our outdoor space. Um, to the best of our abilities on and we have a very open air restaurant. So we have, you know, big windows and garage doors that open up that can allow some air flow, You know? Well, obviously, you know, separate the tables as best we can and take all the sanitary precautions. So we have plans in place kind of depends on where things were sitting when we're looking to open in February. And we'll go from there, and I have to ask this because I know it sounds like a silly question. But maybe it isn't for people that don't know what does a beer brand manager do? Sure so. It's really just trying to manage all aspects of our beer on decree aiding a guest experience that is beer focused, Esso Anything. Anything that are liquid touches is kind of up to the.

"Scare me. Steve did try to scare you see that wasn't very nice. There was a loud clap of thunder. And Steve pointed it out to you, Wendy, and we've already established your this sort of weather makes you a scared. There's something about this weather. It's just the it's the rain. It's the thunder. It's the lightning. It's the threat of the tornado makes you scared. It's reminded me of a story. But before we get to my story. Can we please talk to Diane one? Yeah. Diana line one. Hey, Diane been listening, Dan. What's up? My dad said when he and his brother were young they lived on the jersey shore, they would grab their raincoats and a rope and go down to the shore tie themselves to the post of the boardwalk. Wait out the storm. Stream. So strong that they would be blown sideway is at time. That's not fun. Now, they do that on the Weather Channel all the time. And for the most part was was that the their best line of defense to do that. Do you think or not know it was exciting? Yeah. I bet. Now mind you when he's telling us kids this he's a little bit older dam that was stupid. He's right. Thank you for sharing that day airflow out there. Okay. Thank you. Apparently. It's much worse by you. I live right by Lake Geneva in three calm year nights there. All right. Thanks, diane. Appreciate it. Okay. Thank you. We took the kids to Myrtle Beach one year, and we're at a condo on the on the ocean and the storm came through while you looking I'm not trying to make you know. I'm just listening storm came through. And it would was a tornado near I wasn't directly add us. But the winds lifted up the like the pool furniture. I can still remember chair that like Louis lifted up two or three stories and then dropped. And we were watching out our hotel window. That's scary. Steve, you know, what it is? I just realized that I'm afraid of instability. That's really what you don't know. Well, drew you to radio, right? The most stable of all lifestyles, we can talk to Maria Bamford about anxiety. Because really knows the angle and anxiety is worrying about things that haven't happened yet depression is worrying about things that have already happened. So I'm going to try and just live my life for today. The second live it for the second. Where I was growing up. This is what I was very young. We live in an apartment and the people who lived across the quad from us. We're from Kansas. They were farmers in Kansas who decided to change their life around and move here. So anytime, the weather would get like this anytime, it was a little iffy. The man would come outside, and he would like wherever it was either the windiest or the most wide open, and he would do that thing. He would just stare off into the distance. And you would kind of squint, you know, the way James Dean did and all three James Dean movies. He would just kind of squint, and he would wait a while. And then he would nod and then he'd come over to us, and he go either it's going to be okay, or we gotta get inside quick. Just but I didn't grow up on a farm in Kansas. Right. Those are your two extremes. But he said it with so much like power like the trust me. I'm a guy was a farmer in Kansas. I know what I'm talking about. We got about twenty five minutes until all hell's going to break loose of get inside. Now. Everybody's through the phrase blow over that's gonna blow up right because eventually it will. No one way or another blow over us. Wendy. Is it true that if lightning hit the Antenne of the building you're in it could travel down through the wires and three or headphones and into your head? Yes. Did you text there for transit? Nah. I wish that would happen. Didn't they tell us when when we first moved to this building didn't they explain something about how well tethered this this building is that we live in the knee. Explain that to us a well tethered. It is right. They gave us a bunch of like things safety things that features that this building has. Yeah, we had to go to a safety seminar in wasn't one of them. Like if the building had hit by lightning. It's rubberized somehow wasn't that one of them. But I'll go with that. I'm pretty sure they said that. Around rooms inside. That's the definite guys in fifth grade. This is a text from six three zero. We were altar boys. We altar boys were rewarded and went to a picnic at Saint Jude's in momento, Illinois. We were sitting on the hillside when the tornado sirens went off. We were frozen watching the black and orange skies form the funnel cloud. We were grabbed by the nape of our next and taken inside. That's scary, man. There were two different times in Florida where I was out on a boat, and you could see I guess, they're right. So what's it called where it's like a tornado? But it's at sea is that a funnel cloud. Or is that something else a squall? Is it a squall? What's it called? You mean like a water cyclones's see a spout water spout to waterspout? So we saw those from the boat and in both cases the captain went. Now, it's all the way over we're over here. It's over there. That's what I kept thinking. Happen on Michelle look Michigan to sometimes and they're not really strong storms. I mean, they look like a tornado. But they they're not as bad. If you've seen him on Lake Michigan here. Steve, I don't know if I've ever actually seen pictures of them. And I know often will forecast that there's a good chance for waterspouts. I mean, it's not an I I bet every summer to there's no Wendy's pacing. Walking back and forth. Strong storms are waterspout generally. Yeah. Unless you see the fish high in the spout, right or an itsy-bitsy spider. Then you're in trouble. Once you see the bitsy spider. All bets are off. She have nothing to worry about Wendy standstill. You're making me. I used to be carpet under where you're standing completely worn away. Now, what happened that's in one day. Did you see that one? You're not helping helping everything's gonna be fine. You know, that really I'm fine radio antennas are usually grounded. So the lightning would take the path of the least resistance to the ground. But it would hit Bertrand. It says it says it online. So also, we had a TV antenna, you know, that from the ground up growing up. So when there were storms or fires. I would climb the antenna what you especially with the fire department 'cause I lived in a flat small town. So I could climb my TV antenna and see the fire trucks which way they were leaving town. And you would do that by your own will nobody forced you to do that. Wow. Steve very brave pre cable, very, obviously, there's an antenna, although they say, that's the way to get the TV signals now get an old fashioned antenna. And yes, yeah, we have one. It's just not connected. There's no wire that's the way to play it. Yeah. So the plant so have we eat your fears? You bet your oh, sorry, whatever. It'll be fine. I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm positive bad. I mean, but it's not bad at all. I'm telling you if there's ever a tornado warning, I'm outta here. So you're going to have to I'm not going down there. We're on the eighteenth or here. Yes. Keep talking. I I'm going to need attention just to say, okay. Big story ahead. Yeah. Actually, it's the weather. We are seeing some pretty serious weather situations. I don't know if I believe you now, Steve the newsman he wouldn't lie. Sunny up and up, I can vouch for Steve he's in the walk of fame. That's true. Can we take a break? And you can is there in Clement weather coming up. Give me one second. Stay with me. There's apparently a tornado warnings being issued in Dwight k guys serious away from here, you're fine. Well, it's quite a ways, but we have a lot of this nation, but for just for your own knowledge when it's getting your basement white people. Yes question. Yes. Where's the basement go? All right. Is there more Steve? Or should we break? You take the break, and I'll come back to it during the news. Yeah. All right. Steve will keep you up to date on what's going on with this tornado, Wendy. You're you're nowhere near white. Everything's okay. And then Maria Bamford choice. That's coming up coming up the stories that matter with.

"A presidential hopeful, Kamala, Harris visited. And and there's. Diner, and then like an outdoor Jason parking lot where she did the standard handshake. And then sit around for about an hour just talking with folks. And following this rally. This is a tweet, by the way from Ian, SAM's, who is her communications director. He documents one of the most amazing moments and current political history. Let me just read this forbade him. If I could crazy story that just happened in South Carolina. A woman in a maga- had showed up to Kamala Harris event in Myrtle Beach, and she came over to Kamal after the event and talked with her for a minute. Swear to God. She then took off her maga- hat in toll Kamala. She isn't with Trump anymore. Yes. In one minute's time Kamala Harris was able to take this diehard. Trump supporter and convert her to a diehard Kamala supporter. So sounds legit. Right. We're good on that. So there's this weird thing. And this is why I have too much time on my hands. You know, there's video of this whole event right there is there is. Yes, it's it's it's literally an hours worth of video. I had just left it rolling while I was putting prep together. And it's really strange. Do. You know, what I never saw on the video. Ever because it kind of stands out. There's a certain thing that stands out if it's on the video. Because of the brightness of the color associated with it. What do you think that might be? Never saw Vaga hat. It's really weird. So perhaps it wasn't a traditional red wine. It was a customized maga- hat, and I was unable to see it. Also, your entire your entire tweet is is. BS? So there's. Zero MAG although to be fair across the street in another in.
