"The Dolphins are all systems go. And even I would have to put Myles Gaskin. I know I'm going back and forth the running backs again, but, uh, I do live in Miami. Obviously, I'm a homer. But if you just look at how effective Myles Gaskin and Albert Wilson have been so far I think that both of these guys are probably going to get under drafted and have solid years. I would say that for sure. Um, and I was very, very happy even with, uh, a viscous and all that I talked about. Um, him having a big year? I think he was solid. I think we're gonna just continue to see gains off that I talked about Terry McLaurin. I mean, I was shocked. He didn't make the top 100. So I think that people still vastly underrated him. Um, but you know, those are obviously solid names. I just think that all those guys Need to be drafted a lot higher than people think. And I think, especially Albert Wilson. Uh, there There's no question. What do you like about Albert Wilson so much? I mean, he looks like he's a running back just just happens to play receiver. I mean, just look at his style of play. Look at I think what the the Dolphins want to run. How effective she is how the connection seems to be there with the flow again. I know it's only preseason, but you know, we had an opportunity to tend to my practices and talk to people I know and trust, even some of the people in the media that I really trust that shoot me straight there like he might be the best player on the field. Much less the best receiver. He's very, very effective. I think from a rookie standpoint, I'm very impressed with 22 at well, uh, I know he's the classic undersized guy might be forgot, but He's extremely effective again. I am not ever buying into the height weight thing, but he did you get him on that field, not offensive. I mean, a thing to outlaw is going to have a monster year. That's my Rookie sleeper in terms of receiver, um to to out Well, you brought up Terry McLaurin. I wanted to talk about him because I've been impressed by that guy since he came out and last year for a variety of reasons. Maybe the Change of quarterbacks. He didn't put up the huge numbers like I thought he would. But I love that guy's receiver. What stands out about Terry McLaurin? His speed. You know you just It's just that speed at a stat. Just speed in terms of long range speed. It's just speed but everything. He's just fast. He's fast on underneath. He's fast on the longer routes. He's extremely extremely efficient out of his brakes and I think, Yeah, I think that Washington's kind of trying to all come together. I think he's going to have even an even a better year. Um, and if we move on to tight end again, but I think the two biggest hits ahead last year was clearly Allen Robinson and into the tight end position. Johnny Smith. Joanna Smith had a solid year. I'm very happy to see where he's at right now and how he's going to build off the season he had and then, from rookie standpoint, I'll go all in on Tommy Trump. So I think that John who Smith had a solid year is going to have a better year. My rookie incoming tight ends going to be Tommy tremble. I think that he's going to surprise a lot of people and be one of the most effective rookie tight ends, if not the best. Rookie tight ID and then the league. I know that's a bold statement. But again, you just got to see. I mean, what stands out about because I don't know much about him, Pete. Route. Running a ability is vastly underrated, You know, coming out of college. I think that it was consensus that he was probably the best blocking tight in college football. Um, you know, he split time at Notre Dame because they had a very effective other tight end. But, um, you know, we were shocked. I'll be honest. We were shocked at watching his natural route running ability. Um, I think that just he's the full complete package tight ends. He's going to play a lot, and if that offence goes, I think he's going to get some some looks and and You know, when you have production, you're just going to keep building up that momentum. I think he's going to be that type of guy. That's going to surprise. A lot of people as a rookie. Yeah, Why not? Why not? I gotta I gotta throw some sleepers out there so That's my two. I mean, definitely 100% is going to be Michael Carter, number one, I think there definitely the summary would be, uh, I talked about the studs are gonna be high production with Erin Jones and Alan Robinson. I talked about my sleepers. Definitely. Michael Card number one I comeback player Albert Wilson by extreme sleeper with Tommy's tremble. Um, you know, I think that we definitely discuss Johnny Smith. Um Myles Gaskin. I think a guy like Gus Edwards is definitely a solid pick. I know that he is the model of consistency. And I know they got a lot of good backs there. But you know, Gus Edwards is a big back. He's explosive, and I think that he's proven he gets an opportunity he's gonna produce and I think that's a good safe pick. I know this is a fantasy football show, but we always like to talk about some defensive players that definitely caught my eye. Antoine Winfield was my guy last year. I don't think I could have picked a better one. I mean, he maybe look a lot smarter than I am. Let's put it that way. So Antoine's my guy. I'll roll off that and say that. You know, I'm very impressed with Denzel Ward the first time we work with him. I think he's going to have a monster year and from in terms of incoming rookies, you know Caleb Farley. Caleb Farley is one of the best pure athletes I've ever seen in my entire life. He's a great football player, and it's just shocking that a guy that size can move that fast and be that fundamentally sound of football, So I know a lot of people. Uh, you know, I'm not sure if they slip on Kale, whatever, because.

"Because i'm just worried that mossel end up taking work away and i also think that this is still going to be an offense. That won't run the ball as much as we want them to. The thing for me were at answer. The question i you said you said it dave. Let's blow still. I'm taking moss over single. Terry and i hope single terry starts getting drafted at a mosque. I'm glad that he's not since then. Just wait and taken. After moscow's. But i just again. I'm neither of these guys are my top forty running backs. I don't want to draft either of them very much at all. But i think that in two years single tariff shoney's singles hurry series. Shown us more of an ability to make things happen with fewer touches. And i think you have that to have any chance of being good in the situation. You're gonna have to have breakaway plays. You're going to have to have a high efficiency because there's only going to be ten to twelve maybe fourteen touches a game and you're probably not going to get the red zone work harder. And so what he was known for at. Fau was being a yards creator. He you know good lateral agility played with power all that stuff and we've seen a now in two preseason games. Where he's he's looked. Like vintage devon single terry from his. Fau days and it's great but moss's getting some time moss's playing with power even if moscow's down with another injury would be as ninth in three years. Single terry still isn't going to get the type of work that we want. Ooh you don't think so. He did last he. He'll get some decent run but it's not going to be what we want. He got he had three games last year. Without moss one was terrible. It was a bad game for the team. The other two he had something like eighteen. And twenty one fantasy points. He really delivered philip. Lindsey your mark. Ingram still wins. Neither you can't say that you have to. You have to write the corey davis zag. Ma chris hurted no no. I'll take the tax guy. Lindsey our then ingram. i think. I have like Single terry moss lindsey back to back to back in my forty five ish range running backs right. Okay yeah ingram was kind of the guy in this game and finally david johnson's going to cut. Rookie tight ends pat. fryer youth. Or kyle tits these primaries on the field can't get on the field mad then greenfield. Yeah we'll talk about ben. Yeah sure but reacting fat fryer catching two touchdowns and the all the rothlisberger and hebron how to drop out of drought or in their broadcast or about how far it does not drop anything and he made like some pretty nice catches. Yeah ben was great. But i don't know as far. He's a sleeper inside. Entry melia here. That's very best at best. Fifth targets draft prepping for charity months. Supporting saint jude. "It's the quarterback is leaning on him so much. Yeah but what are we going to expect from. Zach wilson in the in the regular season. He's he's played well against the giants. And the packers backups. But what's he gonna do in the regular season. He might be bad. He might stink. Don't care if he's thinks he throws the ball. Eighty percent of the time but defenses are different. They're going to make adjustments. It's not going to be easy. He's not going to be a superstar in that regard but he still has the chance to make plays if you give them the opportunities to make plays so. Where are you going to. Rank corey davis. We're having right right now. Which is in the high forties or low forties. Give you some of the names around him. I mean i'd take him over. Mike williams i take him over. Curtis samuel. He's not that far from Golly at this point you know. It's it's a beckham beckham beckham I will fuller. i've got. I would rather have him and fellow. I've got davis over fuller to jacoby. Or corey davis. I'm a jacoby fan close and ask you might be a pr. You can take davis. I think davis can be okay but but like all of those guys. It appears are going to be going after davis very soon would in that case let everybody know. Maybe it's just a short overreact. Shaving let's go to another one back loves him. What's i mean. What's what's so hard to like about that. Because i think the situation will change once the season starts and they're playing against i dream. I mean this guy. They spend money on. They had the opportunity to sign kenny. Golladay designed you to go out and get any freedom that they wanted and they targeted toward davis. Another quarterback targeting corey davis like jamie. Moore's is gonna come back at all day yet. But i mean there's there's reasons to obviously be excited about davis right now i mean. Did we do tyler kroft. Polls to since he caught two touchdowns from zach tyler. Kroft or chris hernan proper. I'm done with her demand just to be fair. They did sign corey davis to three year. Thirty seven point five million dollar deal. What kenny you get like seventy million dollar deal right. I'm not saying that he did during the same stratosphere. But you know the way that everything is just unfolding in front of us. You have to say corey davises winning the money. He's having a great preseason. No question all right. Let's move on. Zach moss or care for him. Zach monster devon single. Terry had so bad. Why don't you..

"I think in the in the preseason favors gaskin. So i mean you know he he said i had gaskin over sanders before the preseason started. So i'm gonna go back to that after seeing sanders and gaskin after this week all right. Let's go to our next one. Is the running back and wide receiver. Both named chase jomar chase who had some drops and hasn't had a good preseason. So far or chase edmunds tomorrow. Chase or chase. Edmunds if similar. Adp's who would you take. It depends what you need. Yeah they're they're going to be close in that late round five early round six range and i do have to march as a little higher. I'm not going to judge them. Based on three clumsy drops from brandon allen heath. I moved them quite a bit closer. I was actually just trying to look it up. I've got chase edmunds now. Four picks ahead of marci. So i guess i'd take the running back. I mostly agree that it depends on what you need at that point in the draft. But i'm kinda getting tired all the negativity surrounding chase and i have just completely glossed over the fact that he didn't play football for a year and a half and maybe we should take that into account a little more. It's kind of looks like it's night with trillions and day of you had james connor as a rankings faller. So i thought maybe you'd be a little higher on on chase. Edmunds talk about what. You're seeing in the cardinals. Backfield sure edmonds is starting. Edmonds is a better fit for what this offense is. Edmunds played more than connor. In the second. Preseason game conner didn't play in the first. Preseason game this offense is headed toward. like what buffalo's was last year where they're just going to have everything. Run through the quarterback and so edmonds is the better fit and passing downs..

"Now here's some combination of adam. Jamie heath okay. Everybody start counting. Are we going to say corey. Davis or miles gaskin more on today's show. They are big storylines this week as. Hey they face second teamers again and they were really good miles gassing with a strong bounce back. We corey davis with an zach. Is obsessed with corey davis. So we're looking forward to wait till you see the twitter polls today. Corey davis is going to be a sixth round. Pick with another good week. The preseason if he plays out of as or with heath with jamie with dave don't get to know their last names. What's up guys jamie. Get some father son. Fantasy leagues going on it. Looks like your kids drafted pretty well. They must get some good advice. They didn't do well. they did. The fourteen drafts with the six year old. I thought came out better than the twelve team draft with the nine year old. Not that the team is bad but The six year olds team is is in a little bit better shape. I think given the amount of competition pretty loaded at running back and wide receiver. He's gonna start trevor lawrence. Who was the backup quarterback though. Yeah so we got caught in that. We're picking twelve out of fourteen. So i thought okay. Maybe somebody of tannahill stafford hurts. Were the three and they all went like back to back to back. So i was like okay. We'll just go the rookie route and hope for the best. So we ended up lawrence and justin field. Any gonna start week one by the way. No word on week to Dave at a tough call this weekend. Just real quick. If you wanna give me your take buffalo chicken pizza or barbecue. Chicken pizza barbecue. Chicken pizza and the bears did everything they could to set up. Dalton the fail in that game fields just could not capitalize. We got a lot to talk about with justin fields as well trae. Lance is actually playing right now. we are recording this on sunday night and heath. We're going to talk a lot about corey davis but let's get started with. Who would you rather have game. Based on the winners and losers from preseason week two miles gasket or mile sanders guys. He you get the first word. I'm going to go with miles gaskin. just Completely overreacted to one week and it would be unfair not to overreact in the other direction to the second week..

"Was just worried that he might end up as the fourth receiver in a gadget guy. He doesn't play play. Football really in twenty twenty or twenty nineteen last time we saw him. Extensive football was as a rookie in. I'm sorry a freshman in college. So i've been trying to slow. Play it i. I'm totally with you now. He is going to get a significant bomb into the s. I think in the top one fifty. Because i do think that it looks like he is ticketed to be the primary slot receiver in arizona. A much more explosive option than they had last year and larry fitzgerald and christian kirk versus. Aj green on the outside. Maybe playing in some sort of a rotation opposite deandre hopkins who's gonna hog targets but if rondell more rondo moris like a again i. He reminds me a lot of austin actor. He's shocked up little dude I think that they'll get him involved in the running game as well but yeah. He's getting a big bump up the top fifty tonight. Nice now we're talking yeah and I think there's some still rondo props out there. If people are interested i took rondo more awhile ago over five hundred and a half receiving yards. I think you can still get like over five fifty right now. Which i think is okay for sure. Jaguars trevor lawrence played fifteen snaps. Seven them went to james robinson. Five went to travers at the n three went to carlos high on third down. Surprisingly two of them went to james robinson. One t n want to hide. I don't want to overreact here. I think it's really likely to play a lot of third downs. But it wasn't great. For my james robinson feed. I have absolutely no james robinson and for kind of being in on ntn as the kind of guy the profile the back. I want to have in the six round. Don't want overreacted. This when i'm going to keep watching it. But for now the james robinson troopers look like they might be okay as james robson started this game and was the feature would think of jags running back usage. Yes it looks like a three way rotation to me still love the situation. I but i'm with you that i'm still. I'm staying optimistic on travis. Utn i think at the end of the day he's going to end up playing the most. Snap stand certainly getting most targets out of this backfield. And then it's going to be james robinson. Carlos hides kind of competing for the early down stuff and maybe just the obvious goal line rushing attempts but Yeah i don't. I i'm not moving up james robbins. Yeah me either. And i said i like you said optimistic on travis. Cdn again be type of running back. Who could catch sixty or seventy balls in a season and also get hundred and fifty carries is just so so valuable and so. I'm still sitting optimistic on him. One more jaguars no viscous chanel was only in on three wide. Receiver sets the to wide receiver set for the jaguars was marvin jones and colin johnson. We spent some time on the colin johnson. Dj char thing last week. Go back and listen to that. Schultz role is clear. He's in on three wide receiver sets as a slot. Man it is what it is. We know his. Adp's baked into that. Wasn't that worried me a little bit. Michael carter man. Because i i like micheal carter a lot zach. Wilson played twenty two snaps. Kevin coleman was arrested a good sign for him. Probably and michael carter still only played nine at a twenty snaps. Thirteen went to tie johnson and the most concerning from michael carter was on pass. Downs carter actually came off the field. He only got one third down. Snap tie johnson. Got four if michael carter is not going to get. Those clear passed down snaps. That's a problem for him. Because i think on early downs heaven is probably better than they probably think tie. Johnson is better too. So i have some concerns. Maybe i'm going to back off. Michael carter him in the ninth round especially in full our stuff. Maybe that's too rich now. What you think about how. Michael carter was used staying patient on this one. Because i i read that. Tevin coleman was out due to a personal matter and then So it wasn't necessarily like all we gotta keep running. You know first team running back on ice yet And then they might just be trying to make. Michael carter work for it. I don't know they could be playing these games. Where a tie johnson's the incumbent. He's the veteran. You know this is the first preseason game i mean on the practice field in the jets are covered very closely by guys like connor. Hewson they have a number of beat writers in. i think they're all pretty good That michael carter has been you know the kind of the clear number one back. So i don't know i wanna see another game but before we make any big changes here. Yeah those are all good points. I didn't see the thing about seven. That's a good point and agree with you about the practice. All practice reports on. Michael carter have been that. He's been starting back so yeah. I'm trying to stay up to mr michael carter. I like his profile. Speaking of profile coconut had really good usage for the bears. Andy dalton in the first stringers played seven snaps co. Commit two of them. He was in for seven coconut to in line too wide to slot. One of the backfield got two targets. Don's for attempts and just feels looks like a baller and he's going to be in there very soon for coal commit so one of my favorite late round tight end targets. And i don't want to rely on these late round tight ends. I mean most of them turned into dust. But i would say that in best ball for sure. Mets one of my favorite back and tight end targets. I thought his usage is really good. You think of that one yeah. I think it's trustworthy. I think that we saw that shift late in the season happened. Last year with coal combat really essentially became a full-time player. That's what we saw in the first. Preseason game i expect that to be the case this year. And then jimmy graham to be used very situationally and probably just says a red zone. Fill-in speaking tight ends. I haven't been taking any atom trautmann at all. And i was relieved because i thought maybe he could have a big role but man. I was relieved to see how he was used. Would taste him in the saint starters. They played twenty snaps. Trimming was in for fifteen of them which is good but on third downs and these were all passing four third downs. All passing place. It was john. Johnson converted wide receiver. I believe john. Johnson for snaps tight. End adam traveling. Zero nick finance zero. Our boy nick underhill through under the bus said he's been touting this to you and you blew him off. That's what he claimed on. Twitter i could. He said he was touting. John johnson to use lying. You blew nick. I mean god but anyways i think this is a concern for adam trautmann. It's if he's not gonna be in there. Which i i don't wanna go. As far as he won't be in there but if he's going to lose any pass down snaps to join johnson. That's a problem. We know the quarterback situation here is not great anyway. So what do you think about the travel and stuff.

"I now i him. Yeah nuff dead. Maybe something will happen. He'll catch like five balls in the playoffs or something like that. That would be amazing. By the way. Logan thomas i mean speaking of nfc east Tight ends logan. Thomas just absolutely massive roll coming again. He was in on ninety. Six percent of the snaps. Last year was also among the league leaders in tight end leaders and routes personnel fourteen of fourteen snacks with ryan fitzpatrick in the preseason opener. I'm excited about logan thomas again. I know there's more target competition this year. a lot. More target competition this year but also improved quarterback play so i still like logan. Thomas plenty certainly a lot more than dallas gutter blocked in locked in. And you know i. I've loved tyler. Be throughout this. I think that logan thomas at this point belongs above tyler. Higby okay interesting. Speaking of washington zero first team snaps for brown the opener he was behind cam sims and behind adam. Humphreys curtis samuel sat out the game. Not yet think this is like one of those talent will rise situations and he was a rookie and cam. Simms was on the team last year. And so cam sims plays ahead of them. So i'm not too worried about young. Didn't drop very much in the rankings. At all but it's just something to watch. I think will be fine. I don't know if he'll be early in the season though any move for you on diani brown now I do. I would recommend everybody to go. Listen to the platform in episode about pacing and And snap rate and does he touches on the washington football team in there. You know it might not be. It probably won't be a super highly voluminous passing game team But with the the washington defense we're expecting them to be borderline dominant getting the ball. Back your incessantly to the offense. They're just giving you have a lot of opportunities offensively in that could boost their play volume in and of itself So this this washington offense. And i put them in the sneaky. Stacks article was well Re really really interesting. I think and they. They have a lot of playmakers to the extent that. Hey if if somebody goes down in the offense if they're if they're missing curtis him all of a sudden they can jump diane brown in there. I think adam humphreys is bogging. Open the season as the slot. Receiver logan thomas antonio gibson. Jd mckissick is still is so looks. Like he's going to be a big part of the offense but they i mean they've got some playmakers. Yeah i buried. The lead on. Washington here to lead should have been that intentional gibson. The concerns from last year. A- cropping up again in the concerns of courses that they use gibson in the same role they used him in last year aka early downs. Only and jd mckissick gets the past downward. That's what happened in the preseason opener third-down snaps jd. Mckissick three paint and barbara one in tow gibson zero total snaps with ryan. Patrick we're international gibson. Eight because it's five barbara one. I think in gibson is still a fine pick. I still like taking him in the second round. But it's gonna be tough to access a ceiling if all of the hurry up. All the third downs. Go to judy mckissick. So it's scary a little bit for me on antonio gibson he he has to win this past down role. What do you think about until you're gibson now that we've seen his week one season usage. Well his adp. You know talked about this a little bit. Like i have been trying to get him up as high as i could. And i still couldn't get him to his adp Which in an spca draft was like like borderline first round. I mean he's going like pick twelve or thirteen. I could only get them as high as number sixteen so i think that his. Adp almost became irresponsible. I think it'll probably come down a little bit at the same time. He had thirty six receptions last year and only played thirty seven percent of washington's offensive snaps. Now that number. I think is brought up a little bit by alex smith in a bunch of check down artists buying a quarterback kyle allen and that but i mean i i still think is going to be involved in the passing promised. He only played five percent of their third down snaps last year. And it doesn't look like he's necessarily ticketed for a bump based on the first preseason game. Yeah i think it's it's a big concern and again another situation where it's similar c. h. e. has the sky high ceiling. But if he doesn't get the pass down work he's not going to access it so yeah. I think that it's worth giving antonio gibson ceiling outcomes a little bit of a ding. And we've done that in the rankings. Rondell more man. I love rhonda where we've talked about this. Before i think rondo moore was the perfect pick for the fake sharp cliff kingsbury horizontal raid because he takes these bubble screens and quick hitches and horizontal passes that cliff loves to run and instead of throwing them to larry fitzgerald he throws them to rondo more and rondo. More can actually do a ton with it duties explosive. Larry couldn't do anything with it. So what we saw. In this preseason game was rondo. More exclusively in the slot and christian kirk exclusively outside now kendra hopkins. Didn't play in the game so it's not a clean. Look but evan. What if what if rondo more is the slot in three wide receiver sets and christian kirk. Aj greener battling for one of the outside spots opposite hopkins. now now. we're cooking gas on rondell more. So i hope you've been tempted to move round down more up in the rankings. No he He's been hovering right around the edge of the top one fifty in your head ahead. I've been trying to slow. Play it a little bit..

"Dollar price for. I wanna be clear what the underdog promo is. If you're new to underdog you get thirty five dollars for free with a ten dollar deposit if you're already on underdog they'll just give you ten dollars in your account because you signed up at. Etr that's it. That's all should be simple if you want to play best ball. Take the money from underdog art. Let's get into it. One of the first things. That i saw trace sermons usage was really good and i know where he didn't play. Trae sermons still started this game. He was in on six of jimmy. Garoppolo eight snaps wing. Got the other two. By the way there were three third downs. Would jimmy garoppolo and trace. Someone was in for all of them. So i think they're arresting remastered. I think we're he mustered still enters season as the one a and sermon as the one. B but i thought it was a good sign at least at sermon. Even though he's a rookie ahead of goldman was in on third downs. Ready to rock anything on sermon or the forty niners that you saw now. The passing game Usage really stood out to me with trae sermon. because that's not was not a part of his profile necessarily coming out of college. I don't think a whole lot here changed. I do like the fact four rookie moster that they are kind of keeping him on ice. I mean he is a player that he is so explosive but he really has not been able to stay healthy. Never really been a workhorse at the college level or at the pro level So i totally understand their thinking here But i i love to see truman sermon. Being used as a route runner out of the backfield. And i think it's going to be very much a one two punch with remo cernan trae sermon sort of how we expected but just a little bit of confirmation here one. That wasn't good. And we talked about mccall. Heart made a bunch one that i was a little disappointed in nicole. Harvey was not in on three wide receiver sets for the chiefs and this was only four snap. Sample patrick mahomes in. The starters only played for snaps. I don't want to overreact here. But it was tyreek hill and damarcus robinson in two wide receiver sets and then when they went three wide. That's when miko hardman got in. There is a little scary. We've been above market on michael hartmann. It's tough though. We don't always know what the chiefs are thinking in the past. They have not gone to make a harm even when sammy watkins has been out so it gave me a little bit of the worries. I'm curious felt about me. Only being there in three wide receiver sets. Yeah i think that we maybe should have anticipated. I mean there have been practice reports from the beat writers indicating them cool hartman has been working in to receiver sets. We had the preseason depth chart the that of course you know is likely to lead you in the wrong direction than the right one but we did take it as a positive in they get out of their plan. I mean damarcus. Robinson is like a good blocker and they really have emphasized that role in to receiver sets. Go back to chris. Conley you know the big receivers that are a little bit more. Physical that can block being the number two across from retail as opposed to a little finesse deep threat in mccoll hardman. It makes sense like from an xs. No standpoint i think I i still think that mccoll hardiman is going to be locked into three receiver sets though. I'm not going to move him. Down the sample size as you mentioned extremely extremely small here but i. I think that we probably should not go into the season anticipating mccall hartman playing into receiver sets. I will say this. That is from mike clay chiefs wearing three wide. Receiver sets eighty one percent of the time last season. So you know. Maybe they take back from that this year. They did add noah gray they have blake bell. Maybe they step back from that a little bit this year but still they're going to be at worse like in the middle of the pack and three wide receiver set. So it's not the end of the world. If meco is only in there in three wide another quake chiefs note. I wanted to make you know four snaps but good to see c. h. In there for the third down snap and that was something. I was worried. C. h. was gonna lose third-down staff maybe to mckinnon maybe to daryl and maybe he's still will but it was good to see him out there for the third down snap. I'm going to keep watching. I don't want to really have a takeaway on this because it was only four snaps. But if cj does have the third down snaps. I mean my god i mean. His ceiling is absolutely through the roof so that was good to see age. Yeah i think this is a situation where we need to see some more snaps than know. Maybe we could get up to ten snaps or twelve snaps from first team unit after a couple of preseason games and have a stronger take but definitely situations to to monitor all right. The big one that everybody is talking about. Is the dolphins running back situation on saturday to play twenty three snaps. Malcolm brown was the feature back. Sixteen snaps for malcolm seven for miles gaskin on third downs malcolm brown to snaps miles gaskin. None inside the five yard. Line malcolm brown miles gaskin none now. Look malcolm brown is terrible and was terrible in this game and i was asking is miles better. We know that. But as you've been saying coaches absolutely love malcolm brown hair real. Do you think this usage wise. How much do you are. You worried about miles gaskin now. Yeah in the sample size here was decent. But i still want to see more. I so wanna see another game We know from malcolm brown history. That like he can pass block and the dolphins right now. I think are concerned about their offensive line. They have a ton of high picks. I draft picks on their offensive line. But it is not come together yet. There have been reports out of practice that the airline has been struggling if did not look particularly strong against the bears. Early in the game when when to was in So that may be incentivizing them to put malcolm brown out there because they feel like they can trust him as a pass blocker and he's got the size that would indicate that he could be maybe a little bit stronger at the goal line then miles gas in its i. I would say that. It's clearly a bigger threat than you know. People might have estimated based on malcolm brown history of really non success. they didn't give him a big contract But it it's it's a big concern I would also say that the dead last human thorns offensive line rankings and we talked about this on the pod with him was the miami dolphins. I mean their offense was getting absolutely blown up in that game. And i think that's going to be a problem all year. Important macro point. I want on the miles gaskins stuff like one of the core reasons for me at least that wide receiver is so much more valuable than running back in these middle rounds of a fantasy draft in the dead zone. Is this whole idea. Fragile volume the market assumes. They know that. Mar mike davis miles gaskin. Chris carson david montgomery josh ups chasing. They assume.

"Write some of the team on the season was over. They were talking to the media Armando salguero down there in Miami. There were several players. They of course, went anonymously. But there were several players talking about to a and how he didn't look good at practice and they had questions about him, etc. Etc. And then you bring in all of this Talent, which is good for him. But the offensive coordinator situation. You and I have talked about this Brian Flores changes. Oh, Sees like you change his underwear. He doesn't know what he wants to do on that side of the football first. It was O'Shea. Then it was gaily. Now, they have not one, but two offensive coordinators, cuz I guess if you can't get along with one guy tried to and maybe one of them will work out, I don't know who's calling the plays. So what's happening here is there's a lot of new right. 4 to 2 is going to learn a new playbook birth. It's been said by some of the Dolphins players on offense that this is a completely different system than what they ran last year. So this will be too, as third offense, in three years with a rookie play-caller with a bunch of new guys that he hasn't played with a ton. Right. I mean, obviously, he's got the college experience with bottle but you're bringing Fuller. I don't know about their run game. I don't know if Myles Gaskin is the guy to sit here and Rave about. And most of all, when you talk about the offensive line Greg, which you hit on, not much to add other than this. They brought in three young guys last year, they weren't good..

"Then they have running back one upside any. Any person who an nfl team puts a helmet on and gives them eighteen touches. A game has running back one upset. Yeah i can probably already running back agnostic when it comes to. I'm talent agnostic when it comes to running back yards because because he doesn't have that much talent he's not gonna keep getting eighteen carries per game sure but he did last year yes he did and it worked out pretty well and for some reason the same and it's not the same for davis who did start losing work davis is workload was less consistent last season and he's on a new team. The the reason. I'm more confident. Gaskin the name when in with davis is. He's coming back to the same team. They had opportunities to make upgrades they didn't and we saw him in this role on that team consistently whereas davis role did fluctuate a bit with the panthers and one. We don't actually know if atlanta's offense good for running backs we just kind of assume it is but it's kind of been a while since that's been true. And if you're telling me davis and gaskin both average or below average time which i think is completely reasonable gaskins in a better situation. We thank you. I mean it's really. It's parsing between the falcons and the dolphins as a situation is very difficult and there's room for disagreement. But i think the falcons are going to score more touchdowns. And i think the falcons have a better offensive line. And i think the falcons have less current competition for touches at running back. Then the dolphins. I think malcolm brown and savan akhmed or better than qadri olsen. Cordeiro pederson a. Okay look if you look i have. I really have no opinion on that one miles gas. I think basically it might come down to this. I think miles gas and he needs to be very involved in the passing game to return fourth-round value and pretty involved in the passing game to return fifth round value. Those because i just don't think he's that good of a runner and that's basically what it comes down to look. he was. He had a ton of catches lesser. Hit forty one catches in ten games. So like i said they did. Not you're right. They didn't upgrade the running back position they upgraded the rest of the offense though. So maybe they won't be as reliant on myles gaskin. Maybe they will try to make it to his team a little bit more and that would hurt gas him. But yeah i. I take these guys out. Because they're not they're not easy not easy call so there last one. Is the vegas running backs and josh j. You guys rather jacobson gaskin. I have gaskin ahead. I have jacobs ahead. He's jacobs or mccaffrey. At this point. I don't understand. It's really frustrating that i clearly ranked jacobs below where anyone's ranked in the last two years and we act like. I'm the josh jacobs lover now. Because i haven't eighteenth Yeah he's twenty at adp but he just seems to be among the.

"But once you get past around five. Most of the elite tight ends are off. the most of the potentially tight ends are off the board. The quarterbacks are going to start coming off the board at this point but yes yeah. I don't want to have a bus. My first four picks. You're right. I mean this is twelve team league by the way. I'm always thinking twelve teams. There is something different about a fifth round. pick in a fourth round. Pick to me a big difference. I will say when it comes to running backs at least over the last five seasons the big difference is the third round where over last five years eight of twenty one third round running backs have scored at least two hundred plus fantasy points whereas in the fourth and fifth round is eight out of thirty five so that is where that dead zone starts running backs draft in the fourth and fifth round at least over. The last five seasons have been pretty pretty yucky. Because you get a lot of guys like myles gaskin and and right. So if i'm going to take a running back in the fourth round i need to feel pretty damn confident about him. And that's not how i feel about myles gaskin. I think the lesson might be that anyone who the industry is leading fall to the fourth round. You should not feel pretty damn confident in them. You're running back or at at. Yeah i mean. There are apparent exceptions this year notably josh jacobs. At thirty eight point three in. Chris carson forty one point six but carson was the one i was gonna go to but i don't i don't feel as confident in jacobs's you guys do confident. Jacobson heath is everybody is. I've got my seventeenth i. There's a big difference. I feel like when josh jacobs is talked about or evaluated. It's like well. I mean he's obviously not going to live up to that first round draft pick. He's obviously not going to be an rb. One not drafting be ones in the fourth round right. Yeah that's the other question. Is what kind of expectations. Do you have for your fourth round. Pick at least i would. At least them have a chance to be an rb one corridor. Gas gaskin and mike davis don't when they both gave us longer stretches of rb one production last year than guys. Were drafting in the first round this year and i don't feel like they really do i. Just i don't know i understand. That's the first of all things with gaskin through the bottle running backs. A lot less frequently than fitzpatrick did last year. Don't know if that will translate to this. You don't know you don't add willfuller and jalen waddell though and expect myles gaskin to have the same role to me in the passing game so question though it doesn't we talk about running back talent and you would kind of laughing at yourself for watching myles gaskin film and like if myles gaskin and or mike davis get eighteen touches a game and their rosters are currently constructed in a way where that's a possibility..

"E. i myles gaskin. He scored thirteen or more fantasy points. I think eight of nine games that he got a lot of work. It's significant work. He was really really good for fantasy. I want to talk about whether or not he was actually good. Because that's another story but if we look at your projections he has gaskin and brown combining for three hundred and thirty six carries. Chris has them combining for three hundred and forty carries. But the split. Like i mentioned before the break is different two hundred and four carries for gaskin for heath and two hundred and thirty four carries for gaskin for chris. So he's you have a bigger role. Malcolm brown not not necessarily a fantasy relevant one. But i guess i i should say a smaller role for myles gaskin at two hundred and four carries. Yeah it's not. I think we've got a lot to find out. Still about myles gaskin. And whether because they gave him for like a six game stretch a true were course back role he did have trouble staying healthy with that role. And malcolm browne's fine in that secondary short yardage role so. I do think there's a possibility. Obviously that malcolm brown sees a little more carries than what chris projecting but i'm projecting i think gaskin closer to his floor as a low in number two running back and chris projecting him a little bit higher. The mid range guy. And you know the thing that i come back to with this offense that gaskin played ten games. He didn't start all them but he played ten games. He played sixty one percent of snaps in every game savannah. Med started three games with myles gaskin inactive and also played at least sixty one percent of samsung to those games. So then you're talking about thirteen games where you know one of the to clear top options on the team. They got you know. That's not like every single downward course work but you know that's that's the kind of running back chair especially if you're getting third down work like both of them were where that's a pretty valuable player that you know in a decent off. You're probably looking at at least an rb two and you can say well malcolm brown wasn't there but for malcolm browne's career he's always been someone we thought of as an afterthought at best just a guy in my myles gaskin may just be just a guy to be clear. I think he was pretty good in the passing game last season but not necessarily specialists rusher. So is malcolm brown good enough relative to the guys they had behind myles gaskin last season to cut into that role significantly and more specifically is going to cut into that role in particularly valuable ways. You know passing.

"Older and you know he's a year less athletic. You're less physical and a year further removed from his prime. So i'm airing on the side of this continuing to be a pretty conservative offense when it comes to how often pass the ball downfield. Especially which is why. I think i'm quite a bit lower on chase claypool especially than the Than the consensus. Well and i think also like if bins throwing six hundred and six hundred passes verses six hundred and fifty that makes a bigger difference maybe for claypool because we expect to be more efficient on a per target basis and the difference between the ninety five and one hundred fifteen targets for quite fool is the difference between being someone. You'd want start as a wide receiver three and not. Maybe so and then you kinda also the same thing for juju unless you expect him to have a big bounce back in terms of efficiency. He needs one hundred and forty targets to be number two wide receiver or he needs the efficiency to bounce back. Which hopefully both of those things happened. But it's There's there's plenty of reason for questions with that. pittsburgh offense. The one thing we do have pretty similar is the ratio of targets. Go on to say and then juju and then claypool at. I think that's pretty set just because of the type of receivers that they are. You know i think Claypool being the downfield guy deontay being the intermediate guy juju kind of the wild card because he's been multiple different types of receivers in his career. And i think last year was a really poor usage of him in a way that they kind of had to lean on because of rothlisberger limitations. But you know ultimately the target share the the number of plays run that matters. But i think the biggest thing is just what is rothlisberger. Look like and. I don't think we're gonna get an answer to that in training camp. I don't think we're and get an answer to that in the preseason. I think you know if you went back to. Training camp reports last year was rows burgers looking pretty good. He's throwing the ball with decent velocity like there. There wasn't like boy ben. Rothlisberger looks like shell of himself. Which i think is what we got in the regular season. He's how important is the biggest factor. How important is it for you to have a piece of this passing game. I'm not actively targeting them they may was mostly made me nervous i end up with juju allot in round six. Because i think he's around five wide receiver. So that's that's good. But he's really the only one that i usually draft. Okay when we come back. Let's talk about myles. Gaskin as gaskin and malcolm brown are projected to be the top two running backs by both heath and chris and they both have them combining for right around three hundred and forty carries but the split is very different if you look at the projections and then we'll take a look at josh jacobs and kenyan drake. Both chris have jacobs at two hundred and fifty four carries and seventeen games but what kind of role they have for kenyan drake. Data's very different. We'll also read your.

"A player drafted as early as he was one his college production profiles pretty lacking fourteen point five percent college target share really high yards per target but relatively speaking low catch totals. Low touchdown totals even last season which was his best at six game sample size where he caught. Twenty eight passes but saw them. Oh yeah he averaged twenty one yards per catch. He's an incredible playmaker. But this is an open question with all of these alabama guy is how what do we the things that we typically look for with college wide receiver prospects target share dominant score all this stuff dominant rating. How much can you apply that when you're talking about guys you played on a team with before first round wide receivers on that twenty. Nineteen three for sure judy a three four. Yeah rugs smith judy. So like how much can you hold it against these guys. That didn't break out until those guys were out of the picture. Well the nfl but also really small for fernley wide receiver prospect. He's five foot nine one hundred and eighty pounds. Yes he's very very fast but It's just it's kind of a prospect profile. that doesn't have a lot of. There's not a lot of history of this type of prospect profile turning into an elite number one. nfl wide receiver and so i'm working under the assumption that he'll be more like a complementary piece this season with full on a one year deal. Parker i believe they can get out of that deal after this season. It's kind of a. Let's see what this offense can look like folk reevaluate afterwards. I do think this is going to take a step forward. I think it's there's a lotta talent here. I think there's a lot of uncertainty as well. I think john oil is the only dolphin that i have projected for more fantasy points than kris. Okay that makes sense. It's all right. Well they go. That's dolphins talk and more common later. Run enough place to give us three good wide receivers for fantasy will kind of role will kenyan drake have. We also have an email. Or who thinks that austin ekeler is being overdrafted. We'll see if we agree with that. Your emails at fantasy football at cbs dot com. This is fantasy football today. We're going some of the most interesting. Afc projections from heath. And chris first question for you guys. We just got some speculation out of the denver post's ryan o'halloran. He thinks that devante williams will lead the broncos in carries this year. Neither of you have that project. You have gordon with more curious. What will take for you to make that switch to project. Devante williams for more carries the melvin. Gordon I guess positive reports out of training camp saying that you volunteer williams looking like the lead back for the denver broncos it it wouldn't i don't have them very far apart so it wouldn't take very much at all. I think i have gordon at like one and a half or two more carries per game like a thirty carry difference so it wouldn't take very much. I'm pretty agnostic on the whole situation. I still think like melvin. Gordon was really good last year and fonte williams a rookie. So i still expect. Gordon believed the team early in the year. But this is. This is a little bit noteworthy. yeah it was. it was are probably one. Noteworthy news item That we will talk about. We'll get to that a little bit later in the show. We have a big conundrum here. Chris wanna talk about your tattoo conundrum. I think it's pretty interesting talking point. It's so you like. You're not supposed to wear like a banned shirt to a band concert at georgia aquarium on vacation and i wore a shirt with a whale on it and i wasn't sure if that was of into that. Aren't you supposed to wear the band shirt to the band concert because you like the team shirt to the team's games. It's assumed that you like that band. Yeah but it's assumed that you like and you go to a game. Isn't it as assumed that you like the team right but your your support of the team is meant to increase their odds of victory. I'm trying to make the band play a little bit. Go pearl jam. I'm wearing A wilco shirt. It's a reference to one of their songs theologians and it's got a little pacman ghost and pacman cherry. I've had the shirt for twelve years. My wife got forming for my twenty first birthday so it means a lot to me..

"Keep in mind the dolphins For some reason a full back on the roster for most of the season last year despite being mustache chandler cox despite being schalken team for most of the year. So you wonder is is carl talker. The the back for alabama is he going to take photos four spots and all of a sudden akkhmed brown and dokes fighting for two spots. I mean i. I don't know this is kind of going to be interesting topic to see the running back room developed. I mean everybody absolutely loved welcome. Perry he was going to be the next swiss army knife for the miami dolphins offense. He played forty percent of snaps in week. Fourteen but then he dropped ten snaps in week. Sixteen and ten snaps in week. Seventeen he was another guy who was phased. Out of the offense. It's going to be an uphill battle from. I think it can be practice squad guy. But i be. I just would like a little more consistency in the group. I mean i guess the best way to prove me wrong is is the saying of. You can find running backs everywhere anywhere. So of gaskin goes down for game. Two dokes in theory should be to step right in and be the guy because it's that simple fight running back. According to some according to some. Their diamond doesn't but another thing that stood out to me. Was you mentioned the fullback. And i believe too. I think asking made four. I don't remember how many touchdowns the untold. I remember of the touchdowns at the at the goal line. Christian wilkins was in at fullback as lead blocker so that was an interesting thing. And you know. I don't know that you would keep a carl tucker on the roster occupied roster space just like you might not chandler cox when you can just throw a christian wilkins gas in there. He's more than happy to take that role. Yeah and i think that is a very good point but again in his low concerning due to the fact they kept cox. Even though wilkins using a first-round pick on fullback is a little questionable but it seemed to work out for the miami dolphins taking christian. Wilkins there I think song i round he was in but he was basically a fullback. Good point i is christian next late non-binding say because that's going to get the article. V article licks. Let's do it. Oh man that would certainly be something else. But josh before we wrap up here i i do want to say i mean aren't to a show that that kind of blew up a little bit for us. Our most downloaded show. So i just wanted to say. Thank you for everyone who's listening. I mean it's the beginning of june. We're here talking about dolphins football. We understand it be silly. I think you should be the one but being a professional journalist. I will ask the tough questions if you make me yet. You may as well just asked me the question because we know what what's on everyone's mind i just said it. There are two of show. What is our most listened to show and at about the twenty minute mark. Josh might of passed gas. Yeah just like that. So so that's kind of kind of fits our old where something a little goofy lakes that happens. Obviously we were talking about the receiving corps. Josh made that noise. Just kind of reacting to the stephen core giving some sort of analysis about the two thousand twenty miami dolphins and i thought it was pretty good analysis But it was also pretty real sounding to save the a lot of Listeners reach that does wondering what we think. He did in the middle of pod. So thank you. It was a good chuckle. And i hope he has enjoyed that to Those lovely have the aussies that we're going to have fun with this stuff. And we hope your to josh. Do you have anything to say for yourself. I cannot believe how many people like i know. Sern mentioned it in our group chat. And then i've had people literally reach out like they were concerned for my well being and you know my career moving forward but guys out was definitely that was definitely a mouse for and it came at the perfect time with other receiving core. But if you want to say. I farted charlotte. I don't care. i mean. I'll still be here one way or the other. That is all we have for today on federative to give you guys a little. Bit of a teaser. "But josh there is obviously a a little bit of room for improvement especially when you look at that bills game and how everything kind of Fell apart the one interesting. No i have about the second air here when you look at the oldest guys being byron jones and eric rowe at twenty eight before bring according to his twenty three. There's a really unique gap in terms of the miami. Dolphins secondary You have someone like Exhibit howard is twenty seven and the next closest guy to in howard. If we're talking about younger players is brandon jones at twenty three. There's nobody from. Twenty six to twenty eight in the dolphins secondary. And and i think the where do you see every kind of fitting in i. Do you see any been of concern that. There's a little bit of a gap between the older guys who know what they're doing. These rookies for trip. Still trying to figure out the issue. I had last year. I mean he was behind to absolute stuns at cornerback and he wasn't going to get any chance on the field unless one of them got her. He saw that plane time to vote. He got some plays at benico. Cornerback but i mean for us to sit here and justify eggnog. Knee is a first round. Pick and you know some people strings enough have already calling a bus but for a first round pick trajectory. I mean first year second year. You see that massive jump. Does he make a push for boundary spot. Is he making a push with coleman With like nick needham. Four that cornerbacks job. Yeah and i think. That's what brian floors jailed. Alexandra been touched on wednesday. He was working more inside. You know now they learned the preliminary starting to some of that stuff on inside at nickel. You know run support and things like that so You know. I hope to see eggnog. Any kind of take that next step and try to forge his role at nickel corner. Because that would be awesome to see. And then even have that versatility to play on the perimeter But jake tear to your point you know. Do i believe there's a huge drop off between exciting howard and byron jones. Those young guys absolutely and we saw front and center in that buffalo game early on we saw you know stefan continue talking about that cross or you know we see how the defense looks when those guys are out of the lineup. And it's just not a good feeling and it makes you wonder why fans would even want to entertain an idea to train exhibit howard when you think about it you know. Then you're throwing no egg menagian there then you don't have anyone else. You don't have security blanket. So i definitely think there's concern there but i also think it goes back to what the coach said you know. Last year even byron jones took some time to get this system down. He's in there taking notes. He's trying to get better. I think those younger guys are seeing that. And i think you know. Maybe it's a good thing that got those two elite corners and i say elite because up until last year byron jones name was up there maybe obvious the consistency but he was when he was good. He was good. He was aiming howard again. I don't think would at ten receptions if it wasn't for him but you know maybe it's just me i'm giddy thinking about it because i think we just tapped into something here. You know the dolphins at two of the best corners in the nfl. And i think that they can sit here and take some these younger guys under their wing and get the best out of them. I mean that's pretty cool to see. So i don't know what's gonna ultimately happened here but i think you know. Exerting howard byron jones and then if you can get no eggnog in there that to me is one hell of a starting three and then you know you just figure out the rest of that and again. I'm not. i'm not too sure. The dolphins don't think they can plug and play at all these different positions because we've seen it in the past Bobby mccain the one guy who is returning in the secondary. He played ninety eight percent or more of snaps in nine games for the miami dolphins defense last year Over fifty percent every game. He played hundred percent of snaps and six straight games. I mean the dude was was the definition of a workhorse for the miami dolphins and then you have someone like brennan jones up. I've been one to kinda talk. Highly of him this year. about his growth. I thought he had a pretty solid rookie season. But but i saw an interesting trend where he started a he played in fifty percent of snaps in five or more games but he really dropped off near the end of the season. Twenty five percent week sixteen And twenty percent in week seventeen there were just other safeties. Getting more steps than him But when you look at this group. Josh i remember thinking pre-draft what would it be crazy. Pick for the miami dolphins to take early because you know the projections we we create. They're not always going to be one hundred percent. Things are going to have to be expected. I thought safety would be one of those picks. So i guess this whole kind of exercise here has been me working up to the question you know. Spend a third round pick on british jones. Who again was decent simple. We saw him kind of Moose's role a bit near the end of the year. I don't know if that's just kind of Based on the different personnel on the opposing side line. Or what but you have him as a third round pick of ink monogamy as the first round pick and you have holland. Here's early second round pick. I mean there's with that much capital spent in the secondary. This team has to really push the guys again. Like i said. I don't think byron jones and sabin howard are going to boozer starting jobs. I looked to see them. Start sixteen games but in order for these high top tier picks to really justify their value. I mean these guys have to be on the field. And i don't know if i necessarily see defense where all these guys are really being. Impact players with with air grow and exhibiting howard in byron jones being at a different level than than this group. A younger guys. Yeah that's a good point. I mean you can sure code all you want but let's go to what your timelines cetera with a little rundown says and you straight up you and for we're talking about this before the draft. He mentioned safety. You mentioned tight end. So you know both you because those were positions at the dolphin fan base and you know many outsiders thought were pretty much set but jake goes back to the nfl and as cliche as it sounds. It's just moving to that. Pass i league know you say here. You've got byron jones with the big contract you got examine. How are the big contract at some point. You're going to have to get rid of one of those guys and you're going to have to try to pay some your own so i don't know that we're going to have the luxury of having these two elite corners like we do right now but i'm interested to see the way it all shapes up because again if no aid monogamy can even become half the corner that the dolphins thought he was when they drafted him. You know they'll be in pretty damn good shape and it won't be so bad lose guys like a mccain or one of those other guys enter ramp up this conversation here about the secondary i wrote a story on this for the finsider and it actually some pretty good numbers. So if you'd like you get some reading whether you have a a couple of free minutes or otherwise. Go check that out. I'm not trying to say this is like a bad thing at any ways a. I'm just thinking a year or two down the road. We have to kind of decide where these good draft picks are not. i mean. The dolphins secondary is going to have to look a lot different for us to really be happy with all these picks and think. The dolphins really made the right decisions moving forward again. I'm not doubting it. But i just think it's a really interesting transition. Obviously teams changing evolve every year and the miami dolphins secondary despite bringing back know for the five quote unquote. Starters is going to be no different than that. I'll let you have been to a quick break here. And i'm other side we're gonna talk about the biggest biggest Question of the week. I really have are we myles. Gaskin guys now is a mouse gaskin. Podcast will jump into that right after this break. Substitute support for this episode comes from locker room the app. That's changing the way we talk. Sports locker room sports fans dream. Patriots at Dolphins: Alain Poupart breaks down Miami's running game
"The Houston was really the only team I would say that actually through on the Patriots effectively this year and DeShaun Watson besides Russell Wilson all the way back in week two thousand. I am curious, you know, the Dolphins do they have a running game. Do you think that they can do that with because I don't see it, but I don't want to I don't want to be biased over here. Either way. I mean, there are 30 second in the league in rushing yards per attempt. They were missing their top three rushing leaders last Sunday against the Chiefs. What's a be perfectly blunt? None of them are impact players Matt breida came off the covid-19. Wednesday obviously he'll be back. When he hasn't made much of an impact after coming over from the 49ers in the in the trade Myles Gaskin is on the Cove in list and he's a nice story as a second-year seventh-round pick who laughs basically got a cup of coffee in terms of playing time this year and he basically became their feature back and he's got some ability. But in a in an Ideal World Cup gasket is your backup is now your future back in this is what the Dolphins are dealing with our offensive line. Also a good story much better than was last year. They're starting three rookies with Austin Jackson am handsome in kinloch. but when you start three rookies pretty much ninety-nine percent of the time you're going to go through some growing pains and their offensive line while again exponentially better than what last year is still not great. Let's say it's worked in like but they're not a whole lot of big old being open in the running game and you don't have running backs off will make a lot of things happen on their own. So there's a reason again there there are thirty-second in the NFL in rushing yards per attempt and complicating matters. This week is they have injury issue is that wide receiver position where they also have a lot of players but not a whole lot of impact players. So you mentioned might get sick you earlier I believe and now he's got a shoulder injury where we can't get any Clarity from Ryan Flores as to his status for this week. It's all we'll see is working on all that. But if you saw the injury really really hard to Envision him playing cards Devante Port Parker pulled a hamstring or had a hamstring injury against the Chiefs you came out in the first app did not return. He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, so hopefully play it but then if he plays this carrying a hamstring injury. And then so who else do you have left after that now you're looking at your team Grant who is more of a return specialist and and then their shuttle pass receiver gadget Play type of player on offense. He's also got a hamstring injury that knocked him out of Chiefs game. And then the rest of the wide receiver Corps is rookie limbo Junior who played multiple positions at Kentucky. You have a Mack Hollins who want to sign as a special-teams standout, which he is. He's very going to special teams but more so than the receiver and then you have one of the guys being talked up being able to make a major contribution as Isaiah Ford who you may remember from his three weeks with the Patriots after the acquired immune to trade in his office. I knew he was he didn't play it down for the Patriots. I knew how long is not going to last year when he got up here and he said it is freezing. I need a winter coat, you know, what am I going to do? And I just said look, I'm sure he's a fine football player. I'm sure he could make an impact on the team that needs wide receiver help but this guy does not seem like he wants to be in New England right now. Well, no, but he plays at Virginia Tech. So I'm so he's not like dead. He's from Jacksonville plant in Virginia tag, so it's not like he's not he's never been the call before and the thing about Isaiah Ford and then it was often friends are thinking. Well, Isaiah Ford is going to come and rescue the the passing game and that like life. He's a really really really nice good. And he might be in the league for ten years because he's got a great attitude. He works hard doesn't see anything. He's not an impact player. And right now this is what they have their wide receiver Corps. If she doesn't play they have nobody who's going to really scare the Patriots defense and if you you throughout the city also doesn't play. I mean who makes things happen on this office on Sunday? So that that's a big

Greg Bedard Patriots Podcast with Nick Cattles
Tua Tagovailoa vs. Belichick's Defense: A Challenge
"Get into the Dolphins. Now we have to start with to Greg. I watched him last week and I see a number of very good things from him, you know, the answer the anticipatory throws is great anticipation is accurate and he's really smart and you know football IQ is through the roof when you see him, he's diagnosing what the defense is doing and the first time around you might surprise him. It's very difficult to surprise in the second or third time around very smart guy doesn't have the strongest arm in the world, but he can move around in the pocket a little bit and he's got enough Armstrong. Had a downfield but I mostly pay attention to his accuracy his anticipation in his intelligence. I think that's what would separate too from some of the other younger quarterbacks that we've seen come into the league and so it's fascinating Greg this matchup. I remember we talked about the Justin Herbert matchup Belichick's record his resume against rookie quarterbacks or even just your quarterbacks first time in so we're going to have to who was very football Savvy and has a high football iQ going against Bill Belichick who of course has the Mind against rookie quarterbacks wage. What do you make of to his game in? What do you think the Patriots will try to do on Sunday to Rattle him. I'm looking at I thought you did a great job with your Scouting Report. I thought you know what I agreed on all those points, especially, you know, I think where he shows off to me is the football like you he he sometimes he will hang on to a play a little bit too long. I think that's probably a place. Where they've been working with him, he did that a couple of times against Kansas City, you know, but largely had a feel for what's going on. He knows how to get rid of the ball. I think Chan gailey's done a real nice job with him sort of slowly bringing him along and you know, yes, everybody's going to talk about Bill Belichick and his record against rookie quarterbacks, you know, but one thing you have to keep in my practice, you know, this is this is a rookie quarterback with Brian Flores, you know next to him who's so I assume Brian all week is showing him all Patriots film and say look, this is what they're going to do to you. This is this is what we would do to everybody. These are going to be the calls whatever you see don't trust your eyes before the snap. There's always going to be somebody dropping there's going to be they're going to be doing this song. I think that's going to be a huge asset for them. I think that Ted Karras at Center is going to be a huge asset for them cuz he knows how the Patriots, you know like to pressure cuz he's been here for so long. The Patriots know his weaknesses. Teddy's a pretty good pass protector. He struggles more in the Run game. But I do think you'll see the Patriots try to try to get him to move his feet side-to-side off a little bit slow. So I think you know targeting him with some t e stunts inside and things like that might generate some pressure. But yeah, I think I think that too is pretty good job to see if guys like DeVante Parker and get sick e who who, you know, we're beat up in the last game, you know, whether they'll be able to play because your talent talking about some really talented guys there. I mean God, I can't believe how far gesicki the tight end has come and I know Belichick basically called him a big wide receiver this week, which I think is accurate but he's damn good at what he does in a mash-up. Yeah and the one question and you know, we'll get into our picks and a little bit before we get this n'keal Harry thing you want to talk about and of course we still have the member question of the day on this pod. But you know the weapons right for Miami, we we talked about the weapons about the Patriots all the time. But when you look at the weapons of Miami, I think last week I saw something that too was down at one point in that game. He was down his top six receivers. So including Titan including tight end. So if you know if Grant is out if Parker is out if they're just you know off 60% if you know kasicki is out Myles Gaskin was on the covid-19 this last weekend, that's their guy who they've been running the football with what is it Ahmed salvano salvano, may I forget which way it goes his name, but he's the other running back on the roster. He's been dinged up. So this is a team if they're banged up. I don't know what they can do offensively. I mean, I like to a long shot, but the one thing that jumped out at me watching that Kansas City game and maybe it's just because Kansas City is so full of explosiveness and speed but the one thing that jumped out at me watching the Dolphins offense It's Not Dead. Dynamic like say they don't have explosion and DeVante Parker could be that guy at times but he's been banged up. He's got a hammy so I don't know if he's going to play but they lack if there's one thing they need to add immediately to that Miami offense to help to a is somebody who can be
