At your desk, what's important to note and I'm going to describe it. You're looking at German and French power prices over the last two years. Basically, they go straight up into 2021, come back down just a little bit, and then this massive parabolic move into, well, right now, really. They've come back down from their August peak just to touch, but they are still at historically high levels. This is something we've talked about a lot when it comes to the European energy crisis. Wait, 1952? 1952. They've come down tremendously. Tremendously, but historically, they are still extremely high. And here's why this is important. This has everything to do with what you're seeing in gas prices and ordinarily for Americans. We would think that, while electricity has nothing to do with natural gas, that doesn't really make sense. But in Europe, the grid works so that all the renewable energy sources, the gas prices, or gas driven power plants. Oil prices go from the highest price. Right. And gas power plants have the highest price, so they drive the market, and

"Contact your doctor. Brought to you by Bristol-Myers Squibb and Pfizer. This is WTO pneumonia. The takeaway from last month's jobs report shows the economy as alive and well, despite the worries of recession and inflation, there were 372,000 new positions added in June and the unemployment rate remains at 3.6% to tick above 50 year lows. This morning TBS business analyst just lessened your crunches the latest number sports. When you think about it, the first half of this year, 2.7 million jobs added is a very strong pace. It's about 20% more than we saw in a whole year back in the 2010s, but we are seeing job creation start to taper off a little bit. First three months of the year, we average more than 500,000 jobs a month. The next three months, it was more like 380,000. And I suspect in the second half of the year, things are going to continue to downshift. Does not mean that we are falling off a cliff, does not mean that we are in a recession. It means that job growth is starting to shift and the economy is also starting to shift. So which parts of the labor market are the most robust right now? It's hard to say it when you just look at job openings, there are just a slew of job openings, 11.3 million through the end of May, a lot of those in leisure and hospitality. And we've heard this over and over from restaurant owners and hotel operators. They say, I can't find people. So interestingly, that area did very well, adding tens of thousands of jobs in a given month, but when you look at leisure and hospitality, there are 1.3 million fewer jobs and there were before COVID hit. And conversely, if you look at professional and business services, a broad category, but that sector of the economy has almost 900,000 more jobs than it had before COVID hit. So things are all over the place depending on the sector. And of course, there are obviously still so many Americans who are struggling, even with job openings available. Right, and I think that this is sort of the curious part for economists that I talk to. They say prices are up. And so you would imagine that the labor force would be expanding. That people would say there's more than 11 million jobs, prices are higher. I'm going to go get a job. And yet, we don't see that. The labor force participation rate still remains pretty low. And so there is some thought that maybe savings during COVID three stimulus efforts, child tax credit, enhanced unemployment, that in some households, they had enough savings that could bring them through this higher price period. I mean, at some point, something has to give, that prices are up, you drain your savings, then you're going to go get a job or get a second job. But so far, there hasn't been a real shift in the labor force participation rate, and that's curious. CBS

"By Bristol Myers Squibb and Fizer. This'll is a my talk dirt alert. Like time. No see, right? Yes. Been a hot second when we got to talk about a Scientology story that was just published in the Hollywood reporter tell us And this is all about Scientology's production work in Hollywood and the insidious way that they recruit actors into their organization. Okay, talk, So Scientology has some big production facilities if you're not aware and one of those facilities Is right on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. In the neighborhood of Los Felice. They purchased a public television site for $45 million Back in, 2011 says That's huge news at the time because people were upset that they had the most money to buy it, because that's such a great state of the art. Facility facility that a lot of They had access to, like a lot of actual production companies wanted to have access to them. So they bought that for $45 million, And this is in addition to all of the other presents that Scientology has in just that neighborhood alone. They have another place down on Sunset Boulevard. There's a celebrity center that's on Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles. That's fairly close. But you're right, Laurie. That place has 20 editing suites and 21 special effects station's control rooms, Music studios, mixing rooms. It's a whole studio. Basically, Tom Cruise paid for it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, not so, and this is separate. Then the churches gold base headquarters where they have golden era productions out in him it Oh, yes. Yes, Shelly. Yeah. Thank you. Where is Shelly? Yes. Oh, they're talking about in this Hollywood reporter story. How production of film and television has been intertwined with Scientology. From the very beginning. L Ron Hubbard. He wrote a bunch of Hollywood scripts. You know, And that was his thing telling starts. Yeah, and I feel like Leah Remini told us that she did, like so called acting classes like teaching people how we're gonna help you get a sad Carden do this it But it was just a blatant thing to try and get people to sign up for Scientology and stepping in stepping for courses. You're exactly right. So in this story, Leah Remini goes into a little bit of detail about some of these workshops, acting seminars where the church would regularly hold these at that celebrity center for So that was part of her duties. Yeah, and it was a recruiting tool, so it would be technique classes, personal branding lessons you get to meet and greet with Scientology industry professionals. Lean remedy, said about teaching the seminar that she actually put together of course, and she genuinely wanted to teach young people about acting. But Lee Roney says that she was pushed by Scientology officials to refocus on selling time Scientology services and courses. That's right. Yeah, so she says doing acting seminars was to sell books and to sell Scientology services. And it wasn't for the purpose of helping actors. She says that phrases like quote raw meat and bodies in the shop were used intentionally as a way to describe potential recruits. She also said that Scientology Reps would be in the room during these classes and intervene to talk with attending, so giving them basic tests and pushing entry level courses on them. And ads for the seminars would run in magazines online and would promise that Scientology would bring Hollywood success. And then are they making Scientology movies and recruitment things at this place? Probably and they're probably going and, yeah, advertising and but back casting or whatever that backlot or whatever the trade thing is Thing that they're filming stuff, and then they get there. And it's an actor from not L A. And they're like, What's his Scientology? I mean, I wouldn't. I'm sure that they recruit like that. They're hiring Actors Productions. Yeah, because Lori you mentioned they listed stuff in a trade called Backstage backstage. Is this him back? Well, you know, say, but same thing, essentially, but backstage is a casting website where you can get There are Web sites in Hollywood, where you can get legitimate jobs right and that's one of them and they would be deliberately obtuse in their listing that these things were being filmed. In the Scientology production lots. So like the Scientology movies, they go into one of those centers, and they're showing you how kinds of videos and you can go in the one right downtown ST. Paul, don't go in there. There's no bodies. There's just videos playing in the old science museum. But I mean, then they're like trying to cast people. But I think I don't know. I feel like somebody in Scientology Fahd and got that They had to play them. Guild wages. Yeah, well, here's one of okay, that's really insidious about Scientology, looking for recruits of the world of acting auditions is that Scientology representatives would hang outside of central casting. That's an actual place. It's not just like a term that we throw around here. Well, they just came from such as an actual place. It is an actual place. I never know that I always just thought we're going to go to Central K. I don't know that either, right? You thought that it was like a metaphor for hungry. Nice Central Casting is an actual place. Okay, it's in Burbank. And you condoled there, and that's how you can get looped into being an extra for various projects and you can get access to jobs and it's just come on your way to a sag card. That might be your first stop. Okay, exactly. Scientology knew that, though, eh, so they would be hanging out targeting actors who are lined up to be extras. And promising them jobs and helping them securing their sad cards. You know, Of course they're not at all right. And you know this guy the SAG card. It's a Screen Actors Guild card. It is the union in Hollywood for actors and that opens the door Having that sad card, which is completely opens the door for you in Hollywood because a lot of movies are union jobs, and you can't you can't work on the movie unless you're part of the unit guarantees your wage and there's health insurance. And there, you know, like it's a union, like any other good union is meant to be protect the worker bright and so there's an actress. She's not telling her name was she telling the Hollywood reporter that she was in Line in late 2018. And she saw Scientology members coming up to actors and telling them skip the line. Come join us. We'll get you working right away, dear. Yeah. Now, central casting reps would come outside to warn the actors that the Scientology people were unaffiliated with central casting and that they're like, you know, please ignore them. But if you're new, you know, kind of fresh, fresh in bushy tailed to like, Get a giant. Glad the Hollywood reporter is doing. I am too because they probably they've known about and they could have written about it a long time ago. Yeah, so this is this is an issue. That needs to be talked about right to warn people, young people who are starting out and they could have it written this story. You know, quite a while ago, but I mean, they've been kind of feel like they're getting more ballsy. Maybe writing about Scientology, don't you for sure, they Yeah, And they were talking about one of the things in this Hollywood reporter Think Is that? You know, you mentioned Scientology having these videos and things with huge production values. Well, you know, they cut corners by hiring, See or g'kar. Individuals who were in the church of Scientology working for like nothing, nothing pennies on the dollars to make this stuff actually happened. So they're not. They're not using these actors that they're saying, because they don't want to pay anybody. You know you have a sake heard, but they don't wanna They don't want to let you know these. We only pay $100 a week. Right for 60 hours of word, Right? Right, right. So which is illegal and unethical and so many other things. So you know, it's really this Hollywood reporter article really worth the read and just some of the really insidious things. That Scientology has done to try to recruit new members into their organization. Calling out Scott Rudin, the bully Scientology the bully and taking advantage to think about how many newbies fresh people come into Hollywood make their way They have no idea..
