"March and April, and we're having a serious MVP discussion. There's no question in my mind that if the warriors are still hovering around 500 and our fringe playoff team, I'm not going to put Steph Curry high in my ballot if he makes it at all. Maybe he'd make fourth or 5th or whatever. That's the way I usually do this thing. If you're going to make the top spot, you've got to be on a clear contender atop two or three team in one of the conferences. You should be a 50 plus win team. That is decades and decades of precedent with a few exceptions. At this early stage of the season, as we're discussing this on November 28th, I'm going to make some exceptions to my usual rules because why not? It's only November 28th and who gives a shit. These are not going to, this has no bearing on what goes on my ballot. The real one in the spring, it has no bearing on my own standards for this. It's just kind of like, you know what, at this stage of the season, this is where I think my head is. Partially part of this is the dreaded narrative. I know people hate the narrative. The words, despite being the defending champs, of course, have had to overcome quite a bit of just malaise and internal strife and all kinds of weird shit. And in the midst of all of that Steph Curry is having like playing some of the best basketball of his entire career and single handedly keeping them plausibly in the race here. And if the question will eventually be, well, could curry B MVP based on the idea of the warriors have to be a plausible contender under my usual standard. Yeah, like as of right now, I still think there are plausible contender. Like they're three games out of first. Despite everything, there are three games out of first. They do have a winning record. I'm not going to consider anybody with a losing record. And the other one game over 500. But they have a winning record. There are three games out of first. They're two games behind the second place, Denver Nuggets. The west is weird this year. That's part of it. But they're fine. He's been outstanding. Absolutely outstanding mind bogglingly great. He's like, if you re sort that group of guys who are at the top of the MVP tracker on basketball reference, sort them by effective field goal percentage, Steph said .6 48. It's like insane. 6 48 effective field goal percentage. The only one closest yoke is a 6 43. Your guy Tatum is down at 5.56, which is perfectly respectable, but Steph is like running laps around people when it comes to scoring at an incredibly high efficiency. And obviously he's one of the top scorers in the league right now at 31.4 points. I think his assists at 7 assists a game, I think might be the second highest of his career. He's averaging almost 7 rebounds a game. He's been incredible. He's been absolutely incredible. Not he

"And as soon as you start to drill down, I think it gets very flimsy. And yes, we will learn a lot about them over the next couple of weeks. And I think what we will learn is they're probably every bit as bad as they looked in their whatever two in ten start, two and 8 start to and out. It should be two in ten start. Maybe they're not quite as bad as two in ten. But they're not, they're not that much better than that. And we're going to see that. They'll be exposed on this road trip. I'm fairly certain. And that's not an indictment of LeBron who, when he's playing, and he just got back from injury, mixed whatever 6 games. LeBron's still great. Anthony Davis went healthy. Obviously still capable of great things. Westbrook is Westbrook at this stage and the rest of the roster is a bunch of guys who would barely make a rotation of most of the contenders. So yeah, it's the same problems they had to start the season. They just were glossed over by the inferiority of the schedule at this point. All right, there's your obligatory Lakers reference at the top of the show. All right, I want to talk about the MVP race right now because we're right around the quarter point of the season. You're starting to see some of the top contenders separate a little bit. We're kind of getting a bit of a top 5 ish look from teams. If you look at the NBA dot com, MVP ladder, one of my favorite things to look at most weeks. You've got Luka Dončić hanging out there at the top. Nikola Jokić hanging out there at the top. Giannis de compo hanging out there at the top. And my guy, Jayson Tatum, why pick to win MVP this year. He is in that mix as well. Let's start here, Howard. At the quarter point of the season, who would be your first quarter MVP? So I was using as my kind of basis or just guideline initial pool, the basketball reference MVP award tracker because what they do is they do a probability based on all the past results. So it takes into account the team's record stats, everything puts it into a formula and says, this is who's most likely based on past results of MVP. Your guy, Jason Tatum, is in fact at the top of that list with a 22.7% chance, according to basketball references, algorithm, jokic is very close behind him at 22.1%. So just tenths of a percentage point there. Then they go Dončić, Giannis, curry, and then drops down a little bit to get to Donovan Mitchell. So that's the group according to the basketball reference award tracker using formula and based on past results. Within that, so it's interesting to kind of look at those respective cases. And to answer your question, I think I'm leaning curry right now even though, as you know, I'm all about the team's got to be a clear contender. They got it. Let's just pause on that one a second there. You have the last couple of years about how winning matters, right? Being on a top two or three team matters. You're gonna lean towards Steph Curry right now. The warriors could be great by the end of the season, but right now they are the definition of average at this moment. Well, all right, so let me just because I knew eventually I would have to explain this, but you decided to jump in first. I did. 'cause I'm rude. Which is fine. I jumped all over you for, you know, awful Domino's reference. So we're at the quarter

"A if you are actually concerned about addressing your anxiety, you would take them medication that was prescribed. I can't. I'm scared to take it, not several years ago. I have a fresh prescription. Thank you. I just got to. I know, but you've gotten prescribed it multiple times. You've never taken it. I didn't like the way that other one was described to me. I felt like it might dampen my excitement while also dampening my worries. Like, I want to feel my emotions. Okay, cool. So I would like to feel my emotions too. Okay, but I'm just saying, if you want me to worry less, if you want me to feel comfortable, being able to take anxiety medication. And I think I can deal with my anxiety and otherwise besides medication. But I can't, I can't because you sir will not worry enough for both of us. To be clear, you said that I got more receiving as a response to you having a lot of anxiety. So it sounds like you agree that you're in a catalyst to this. So you need to reduce your risk. In order for me to meet you somewhere in the middle, and to be fair, wild, like what about my wild wild wild life? I thought that. Every single example. I'll give you an example. Let me just stop talking. I'll give you an example. So when he used to play for the Broncos, he lived in a city called Centennial, Colorado, which is like, I don't know, it was like 40 minutes is beautiful. I do, I miss it so much. Which was like, what was about 40 minutes from DIA, the airport, so he would pick me up. And he would leave his house. I don't know what he was doing. He could have been like eating before, maybe he was home, but he would come get me. Shortest possible time away from his house would be like 90 minutes by the time he drove to the airport waiting for me to get in or even he was so sweet. He's actually come inside and meet me. But 90 minutes away. From his home. And I would come back and there would be a candle lit. And it wasn't like a romantic my girlfriend's in town candle. It was like, this is just a candle that I keep it all day. He probably kept it while he was at work. He kept it lit, at least those 90 minutes while we were away. And that is wild and risky. And it's proof that you were this way actually, so I was wrong when I first said you weren't this way. You were this way early on. And this is why I can not not worry. I have to go downstairs and check all the candles every night before I go to sleep. I

"Every team was in contention would want him, but to your point, who knows what type of condition he's going to be in and either way he's fun to watch, so I look forward to it, all right, Charlie, we're done. I got one last thing I want to add. You want to add, you always say, we should add a little non football to the end. Oh, yes. Tennis. Yes. I want to add a tiny tennis ball. No, no, no. I'm excited about this. All right, give it to me. You like Victor Webb and Yama, right? Love them. 18 year old prospect, he's something you've never seen before. He has all he has your imagination going wild. Do you know what's cooler than one Victor web in Yama Dominique foxworth? What's that, Charlie? Two Victor webinars. And that's what tennis has right now. We've been waiting for two decades. And I say the we as in people, the group of people that actually care about tennis. We've been waiting for two decades for people that can actually beat Novak Djokovic, drop down Nadal, Roger Federer. We found one in Carlos sacras. He won the U.S. open. So most athletic guy we've ever seen playing tennis. That was so fun. Like watching Alcatraz play and the U.S. open was so fun. I was like, my introduction to him. You are a real tennis guy, so you knew about him. And I watched him, it was explosive athletic. It was everything that you want from your sport. So you're telling me there's somebody else who is comparable, give it to me. His name is holger runa. Great nickname on this guy. The great Dane, the great Dane. See, enormous? No, he's kind of he is kind of big, but he's from Denmark. And very different than alcaraz, stiffer. He's a power player. Huge serve and has been badly behaved in the past and people were wondering huge prospect if he was going to put it together. Well, he shows up in Paris this weekend on an indoor hardcore beats 5 of the top ten players in the world. Moves into top ten, wins a masters 1000. He beat alcaraz along the way into a draw from injury. But then he went toe to toe with Novak Djokovic. And beat him in the final. And this is significant. First of all, he's the first guy ever to beat 5 top ten players in 5 days. Second of all, beating Djokovic on his preferred surface as a 19 year old that just doesn't happen. And what's exciting with this is not just that their prospects, they didn't wait for Nadal and Djokovic to age out. They're actually beating them at the tail end of their prime. When is the next time I can see them? I don't want to hear about I want to watch it. Send me some clips or January 16th, we'll have coverage of the Australian open because it's going to be a battle of old versus young.

"The first one's the box. They're constipated. They're bad. We just keep on going through the same Tom Brady cycle. Oh, look at the NFC south. They're going to figure it out. Yeah. They're leading though, so I feel like, all right, I'm good on it. I did not watch that game. I watched the replay of the final couple drives because I was like, I can't watch this, this is terrible. So I'm with you. Spoiler alert, you missed nothing. I know. Both of those teams, like, I don't want to see this. Anyway, what's next? Second one's the packers. They stake. What are we doing? And now it's not even like for so long, the odds were that the betting odds were that they were going to actually win the NFC north. That's gone. We got iced out Kirk Cousins. They have such a lead games wise and the packers are so bad offensively that that's done. How many times can Kirk cause us do that trick? And we still be like, oh, it's so cool. I feel like Kirk Cousins. It's not cool. Let's be clear. It is not. I don't like it either, but it feels like it gets people like love it. They celebrate it on the Internet. His teammates love it. We've seen Kirk Cousins corny old white dude wearing chains like young black football player. This is hilarious. I guess it's not cute anymore. Ryan Fitzpatrick did it. It was cool. It's no longer cute. Give it up, Kirk. But I guess it's for them on the plane. It's not for us, but I think I'm more annoyed at the people on the Internet who are like, this is so awesome. They're now my favorite team. Anyway, next. The last one's the ramps. Oh yeah. They're done. Congratulations on your 2022 Super Bowl. That was that was great. We'll see you in 5 years when you have an entire new roster. Yeah. Enjoy LA, the sunshine that you guys are done. Oh no, Beckham and discussion for him or save that for later in the week. I got one thing there that Jay glazer reported that he's going to be cleared to play next week. They'll be like the ten month Mark. And I don't want to talk about the, I don't want to be the Twitter doctor and say, wow, after ten months, who knows how close he's going to be to being a 100%. But I do think that this is something to monitor for us because one of your themes of the season has been how receivers affect offenses and how number one receivers in particular, and he's got a really unique skill set of being able to take slants, get a lot of yards after the catch and beat people deep. And I really am going to be interested to see if that's a plug and play player immediately for a contender the joints. I assume he's off the table now for the chiefs because I can Darius Tony. But every other team conceivably should one another weapon like that. Yeah, I mean, especially the ravens with Bateman's issues. But I'm not sure that he would want to go there. Yeah, we'll see.

"So I hate you. But I think just straight. Yeah, sorry. I mean, I actually enjoyed the World Series. Yeah, I did. Because some of the playoffs until they started walking Bryce Harper because of analytics. I hate analytics so much, but it makes football so much fun. Analytics and football makes it make it better because analytics told people stop with the I formation banging into the back of lineman. Air it out. And so analytics is healthy for football. All right, what was the other one? The other one was like arguing that it's about the help that he's getting from Jalen waddle taken. Well, it's parsing value and I takes on this part too, but like parsing value of the dolphins offense with Mike mcdaniel, an accurate distributor of the football and to Tiger kale and Jalen waddle. So tyreek hill put up numbers without tua. And I think that tyre and tua was not good before Tyra kyo. So I think that's an easy one to dismiss. It's not to take anything away from Tiger hill, but I mean, away from to it. But if we're looking to make the tyreek hill argument, that one, I think, is easy to move on from. Now parsing the impact between him and jaylen waddle and Mike mcdaniel is a little harder. So again, I then look over to say, all right, are you saying that McDermott doesn't deserve any credit? Or Andy Reid doesn't deserve any credit. It feels like an argument that you only make if you want to undercut tyreek hill and not appreciate that what tends to happen is the guy who wins the MVP that's on a good team, which means there are other good players there. So the reason, I think we easily took away the strikes against it. But the argument for it, I think, is a little bit more complicated. Even though he has a thousand yards in his on pace for 2000 yard season, which is historic and rare was I guess Calvin Johnson was he the last one to get 2000 yards. He never has. No one has gotten to that. Johnson was just under 2000 yards. He finished just under the barrier in a 16 game season. Obviously, if there had been a 17th game, he would have gotten there. And I actually, okay, Terry keel right now. We should go over the numbers really quick. 76 receptions, 1104 yards and only three touchdowns so far. The reason that's significant is we know touchdown luck could and will regress. He could start stacking touchdowns in the second half of the season. 76 receptions puts him on pace for a 144 over the course of the season. Michael Thomas, who only caught slants, not like Tiger kill, is on has the record at one 49. So that's in that's in reach. And the yardage one he is on pace to break comfortably. It's on pace for 2085 yards. If you also could conceivably get to over the 2000 yard mark in 16 games this year. He has over a hundred targets already, which I think Cooper Cup is an interesting name to bring up is second with 93. So I think a reasonable argument against Tyree kill is Cooper Cup completed a Triple Crown last year and then come close to sniffing an MVP. But this goes back to a conversation that you

"And the 61 62 NBA season Wilt Chamberlain average 50 points and more than 22 rebounds. And didn't win the MVP. Play the music. This is the Dominique foxworth show. All right, Charlie, what's up, buddy? How do you like that one off the top? Catch you off guard, surprising information that is shacking and doesn't seem fair? That was shocking to me when you told it to me this morning and it led me down at Google rabbit hole. A couple crazy things about that season. That was the year Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for the first time in NBA history for an entire season. He also did not win the MVP. Bill Russell won the MVP. The Russell was not first team all NBA that year. Well, Chamberlain was first team all NBA. So we had the best center on first team all NBA, and the second best center winning MVP. Very strange. That's a conspiracy. We need to figure out what was happening with the voting. Speaking of voting, I think this is coming out on Tuesday, right? So go vote, do your civic duty. If we vote. But we do need to we need to find those ballots from the 61 62 season because how could Oscar Robinson not get it? Will it shamble and not get it and Bill Russell? I mean, we are celebrating Bill Russell this year. He died is the NBA is doing a bunch of Bill Russell celebrations. He won 11 titles, was the first player coach in or maybe it wasn't the first player coach, but he's definitely the first black coach at the Celtics, was amazing. But he stole, he stole the MVP that year. He stole one. I mean, let's be real. He averaged 1924 and 5. So it's pretty good season, but I digress. He was killing two. Speaking of MVPs, let's go back to football where the MVP race seems a little bit more confusing because we thought Josh Allen probably had it wrapped up until this kind of dud that he dropped against the jets recently, but I don't know, we can come back to Josh Allen, but I want to try something on you. I know how you're going to respond. You're not going to like it because you are part of the establishment. The MVP should be Tyree kill. It's the real MVP of the league. So I want your reaction before I support my position. I want your reaction to tyreek hill to be the MVP of the league. He is the best player in the league. Tyreek hill should be the MVP in the league. I mean, don't you see it? Well, this is where we're going to start parsing it. This is where we're going to start parsing it because I want to because this leads to a lot of spider webs. It's been off discussion. First spin off, like, is he the MVP if the offensive thing left is still excellent with Patrick Mahomes? Can that make Patrick Mahomes who's currently the betting favorite the MVP? Because that offense is able to hold water without tyreek hill. Second part of it. That Miami offense is a two pronged attack with jaylen waddle. How do you parse value there when you have the two fastest guys in the NFL playing next to each other?

Report: Nationals star Soto turns down $440 million contract
"The athletic is reporting that the outfielder has turned down a 15 year $440 million offer to remain with the Nats past 2024 That package would have eclipsed the current record contract of 12 years and 426 million given to angel's outfielder Mike Trout in 2019 The national said last month that they would not trade the 23 year old Soto but speculation about Soto getting dealt is sure to swell following the athletic report Soto was the NL MVP runner up last season but he was hitting just two 49 with 19 homers and 42 RBIs this year heading into Saturday's action I'm Dave
Aaron Rodgers Named NFL's Top QB in ESPN Poll
"So ESPN doing their annual poll of over 50 executives players, coaches, alike, they release their top ten players at every single position in the National Football League. They've been doing this for years. And yesterday, while we were on the air, they put out their top ten quarterbacks. When I say they, again, it's an ESPN production, but it's not really folks from ESPN. It's people within the business. The peers of these players themselves, the players, the coaches, the executives. They come out with the top ten quarterbacks fellas. It's Stokely and Zack filling in from Mike Evans this morning. We're hanging out with our guys stink. Number one in the National Football League, according to these guys, Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers still the number one quarterback in the National Football League fellas. Well, a desi woman back to back MVPs. Aaron Rodgers has his efficiency is touched on interception ratio completion percentage. His ability to just absolutely attack a defense. So I'm doing I'm doing a Green Bay game. This is two years ago. And I'm talking to the defensive coordinator of the team that they're facing. And he's like, listen, if Aaron Rodgers gets it to second down in 5 minus, like second down 5, 6, 9, four, whatever. He goes, I would rather just give him an automatic first. I wish I had something to say, you can have the first down. Let's start over. It's like a take your base signal. And baseball. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. He goes, I would just like to start over because if he gets you in a second down in 5, there is nothing you can do. He's just going to bleed you. Until they get a first down and then they'll bleed you some more. He goes, I'd rather just give them the first down and say, let's try to, let's try to see if we can get them in second down and along because that's the only chance you have. He is legitimately is that
The WNBA Got It All Wrong With the All-Star Game MVP Trophy
"All saw the biggest reason of the biggest weight, the WNBA got it wrong. Or more accurately, the smallest way that the WNBA got it wrong. And what is that way that the WNBA got it wrong? Y'all see that all star trophy. All right, now if you did not see the all star MVP trophy. If you did not see it, I want you to pause right now and go check out that trophy, okay? Go ahead. I'll be here when you get back. Don't you worry. Now, congratulations to you, Kelsey plum. You were the All-Star Game MVP. Bruh. That trophy was like one of the cup trophies, you know what I'm saying? With the handles on the side. That woman was holding that trophy up with both hands, and I guess because it would have made for a more symmetric photograph. They should have just let her hold that thing in the palm of her hand. That trophy was so atrophy look like they got it from the trophy shop. Like, you're all star trophy shouldn't look like a trophy that you could conceivably hand to every member of the team. It should look too expensive for that. No, no, no. And who knows, man, maybe that thing with Sterling silver, maybe they got that thing from Tiffany. I ain't got no idea. I just could not believe how small that trope he was. I think they was joking online and they were saying that you could find a better trophy on Amazon. Yes, you could. I've seen it. I've seen it. You can find it. This is the same year where they redid the All-Star Game MVP trophy as a tribute to Kobe. Steph looked like he had to bend his knees to raise that thing over his shoulder. Is WNBA trophy? Like, you could put that in a trophy case, but you really just gonna put that thing on a mantle. Like. Come on, man. Y'all can't do that, right? Even if you wanted to go a little bit too late, gender specific on it. Give them a plate like Wimbledon. You know what I'm saying? Give you something that you could hold up over your head. I feel like that should be the rule about the size of your trophy. Don't matter to circumstance. That thing got be big enough that you could hold it up over your head. That ain't what they gave though.

"Because yeah, draymond green, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, infinitely better at talking about Andrew Wiggins and Andrew Wiggins. He's not the guy that's going to sit down in front of you and bang on his chest and tell you all about how we did it and why he did it and how he's the baddest mother bleeper that's ever walked around the damn town. But he is. There is a conversation to be had and you know, I think Steph in his amazing game for performance, if it comes down to it and the warriors win it all, I expect Steph Curry to be MVP. But one more incredible staff performance will turn that conversation into Steph just came up there and wholeheartedly 100% took and earned that MVP and if he doesn't have that one more game, there will be somebody somewhere, maybe it's.
"mvp." Discussed on Fantasy Focus Baseball
"Sorry i'm eric arvo. fantasy focus. Baseball is presented by linked in jobs. We talk about how great franks rondeau is so. I'm rooting for him. To hit home. Runs against my favorite team on wednesday night. And he does and they blow to more saves he's got like fifty family members in the stands of philadelphia because he's from new jersey which is philadelphia close to and he's laughing any smiling and he's dancing around any points in the dugout. He's having the best time of anybody right now for a terrible team buddies on one of my fantasy teams. I am rooting for frank. Swindell and let's we're way past the yellow student and by the way folks is unbelievable beyond clinched at this point. We're has that. Say hello to twenty twenty one and you know i hate cops but making it say hello to twenty twenty one version of two thousand eighteen luke voight. Wow and by the way he couldn't will have turned the career into what luke voice has become. Well i my follow up to that is. What has luke's voids career become. What is okay. But when it's twenty twenty one. And i'm talking about twenty eighteen there've been chunks of projections. Let's assume that both luke void and frank swindell are starting first baseman next season maybe for the yankees and cubs maybe elsewhere. Maybe the yankees have to move voight. Who knows if they bring rizzo back so give them each like five hundred at least five hundred plate appearances. Give me their numbers. That's interesting i hadn't thought of void. I thought of other like christian walker types. Who toiled in the minors forever but voigt did to are either these guys hitting thirty home runs and batting two eighty next year. I don't while void no way on the two eighty batting average. The problem i have now is just the injuries. I i do question that he's had a difficult time staying on the field. That's not just the season two. So let's say he's in the fifties. I'd probably give him twenty five. Ish maybe up to thirty home runs as a projection line coming off this year. Probably a little more optimistic about dell hit two seventy because of the contact nature of his game. But i don't know if he gets beyond twenty five home runs and the allies hot realize voight lead the majors in the two months season last year with like twenty two so project in two thousand five over six months even with injuries is rather low. Isn't it your forty mark. The injuries are that big of a problem. You're right he could hit forty runs if we have good luck in the health department and by the way we gotta talk about the fact that two of the yankees who had major injury questions coming into this year had no issues at all in aaron. Judge giancarlo stanton and we've seen historically guys like evan. Longoria became a much healthier player. Ian kinzler did it despite having an injury prone label so anything can really happen. You're right void. Couldn't forty home runs. I think he's likely to fifties batting average guy. In the best case scenario you brought up a good point here. And i think it's important. Let's talk about the yankees. Then what did the yankees look like in twenty twenty two for fantasy purposes. Where are you taking judge because he has proven to be healthy player this year. Is that break the streak does that. Make us rethink him. You know glacier taurus. The power just gone what he has stolen. I think fifteen basis. That's interesting mayo's got to be better and this mean i'm looking at least now. Judge is the best player on the team. Lemay was second because it does take walks but no power. He'll score runs stanton as power. Joey gallo. he'll be back is power and but he's the strikeouts my goodness he's already one hundred ninety. Five strikeouts your catcher. So tourists playing second. I assume are sell. Gimme gimme a look at the yankees next year. I'm curious what you think. I'm curious to see whether this experiment now shifting lemay third gio or shell at a shortstop. It's gonna stick for next year by the way the yankees could dive into the shortstop agent. Bowl it's very deep as we all know. I think that is probably what's happening by. They're getting hobby by. That's good luck with it. That's my yankees think is a fit. I don't but they might. I'm not going to dispute the possibility. But i think the yankees are on cory seager. That's just my opinion they left. You hit hitter. that's for sure. Yeah and i think that's the key here. Is that the yankees. Want to balance out the lineup. That's a prime opportunity to do. The mayor slides the third seger take short towards those back to second or maybe he's under a little bit less pressure. If i want praise anything that tourist did this year he's fourteen of seventeen and stolen bases that's encouraging because if you add twenty twenty five homer pop to ten stolen bases even next season. That's a nice bounce back on a year is garrett cole. The only yankee worthy of going in the first five rounds next season silence. I think that judge gets close but yet we're not going durable where we can't call judge durable. We're talking about you. And you're talking about traditional rodeo. Well points leagues. You'd be better right. I also think there are cases to be made for some of the others lemay hughes rebound prospects get a little better when you reward him for the disciplined numbers. Joey gallo becomes a little more attractive in the non traditional rodeo. Probably not points because of the case. But yeah i i see where you're at here but i think veteran points than rodeo because batting average were so for example the six by six pitch a lot where on bass and slugging come in he is hugely more valuable format. Not it's interesting. I mean you wouldn't expect his yankee team naps so many question marks. But they're here. We are and what a race the teams in the alleys for two wild card spots. I love this idea asked on youtube. Yes it's dragging a little bit but it looks like oakland's out seattle. God bless been great season. Bronze scene was the guy who would sit here. were told now whereas ours woes tracking Your basic momo. Inner pinch stylings. Yeah so last night. Dodgers blew out the blue the pirates nine great news within three games now of the giants in the national league west. Max muncie to home runs last last night and rb seventy six now. Twenty eight homers seventy five. Rbi's a four eight on base average. That's nine eighty two old esat. Beg he is having a year. We have the mvp in both leagues playing in los angeles right. Now it's a good question. Tiny hit his fortieth home run of the year last night. Forty home runs and eight innings. Eight innings eight strikeouts eight innings longest outing of the year. Yup i mean he's mvp. The american league right. yeah. I wanted to months last night was getting. Mvp chance and after the game or hey follow me here on our fancy sound page Here's what max said about. Mvp chance probably one of the cooler moments ever had in my career You know it was. It was kind of wild I had to hold back a small in the batter's box but You know the most important thing to me is winning getting this team back to the playoffs and hoping the world series and you know if any awards come from that that's awesome but you know that's really all i care about that's all that's all i've ever cared about since being over here at the dodgers and that's that's not going to change anytime soon. You know so if. I would ever agnew to help team. And that's gonna do. And here's what dave roberts said about muncie and the mvp award. I think obviously the the thing that's the most consistent is his production as far as there's no ebbs and flows. He's just been very consistent as far as getting on base driving and run slugging posts. It's just so you know. Now there's that mvp talk and it's well deserved but still think and know that all max cares about is helping us when a ballgame each night and and i think all the results is just a byproduct to that mindset. So the max muncie. Is the third pick in vegas right now to win the most valuable player that not to tease junior is number one. And he's pretty heavy favorite. He's minus one ten bryce harper. Who's having a good year in. Philly is second and max months is third trae turner's actually fourth. Wow really yeah trey turner's fourth on that list so mean we're having a great year in washington and brings his act to the dodgers and has been nothing short of great for for us. I mean going to be a kuni until he got hurt. Correct off to a great start has thirty two home runs. And he's avenue grade offensive. Your but the padres have disappointing. I just don't understand in baseball. Autorizher drifting run out of the race. Too bad it got a little padres the friars. I don't know if i don't know what the difference is in baseball. Where seems to be in in basketball is usually best player on the best team. Version of that baseball. It's just whoever has the best statistical season so mean to me. It's atanas tiny running away within the al forty home runs like that and what he's done you know. There's there's never been a pitcher whose hit forty home runs. I even babe ruth. There's never been anything in our lifetimes. Like shohei ohtani. Never been the idea of when i was a little kid thinking about baseball. The idea that somebody could both be a nine game winner. I think he's no he's eight and one know and hit. Forty home runs in a season is just crazy. Well i keep waiting for him to slow down because they you know at some point he's going to get tired and he's pitching hit. He's playing every day but he's getting better like his last six starts and you can tell i just sit around the so i know these stats off the top of my shirt. His last six starts. He's gone six or more innings getting stronger as a pitcher. Yeah here's jeff passan on shohei ohtani never seen a player like one moment on jeff passan they. He's under team control. Now until after the twenty twenty. Three season and lindsey made the case that the angels should not have traded one of their best starting pitchers in andrew. Heaney was never been great year but but one of their reliable starting pitchers at the trade deadline instead of trying to fortify things. Shohei ohtani and mike trout on the roster. The two best players in major league baseball is it fair to say they're the two best players in major league. Baseball wouldn't go that far. Just because who they are in the american league ale but to junior kunia i think are one sotos up there too. Well my trousers. I heard a lot but my trout is the best player on pillow. Otani that i've seen in my lifetime. I'll go with that. So now is amazing. He is that guy. And every time i watch him just like blown away so i think he's at the same level as trout. He just got here last year. So here is passing. Never seen a player like shohei ohtani babe. Ruth was playing against pitchers who were thrown eighty-five miles an hour. Shohei otani is doing this..

"He is not just dominating you pretty much any opponent that he faces but to me. Joe ellis joel is scary. In how philadelphia defense can be scary but then you look at the other side of things and you wonder will go through stretches where they may be stagnant or struggles score so i. I don't know if there's a good answer and you also have shooters now like have shooters open up the floor again for seventy sixers that we didn't really see You know the last two postseasons or whatever whatever it may be. So i don't i wouldn't necessarily say one over the other but i would say that the the lack of inside size for the nets combated with what joel embiid into the league he. He's a star drops sir headphone did. It was falling out. But i also didn't wanna touch it. Because i thought it was gonna hang up and zoom. That's fair and we will end though on that note though sir we appreciate. I will look forward to your positive comments on the defense. You and our believe. It's clicking on all cylinders right. You're acting like we're saying they're one of the top defenses in the league. You you just need to be able to look like is yon is going to go for forty nine again. No but some point. You've got to stop like a guy the you got to stop an mba. You can stop a y'all got to get it. But but just to that point against i mean milwaukee scored one hundred seventeen the nets lost by three. They gave up twenty points off. Turnovers and james harden was sitting on the bench like a dance. Where the what's that would do a moral victory. Now we come on moral victory I'm just saying you're asking is yang. Maybe not in. I don't know the when you're projecting you're asking me to project. I think we'll walk. I also think milwaukee's top like really walk us. A tremendous team philidelphia's a tremendous state. Who who knows what. Joel also in sweat like doc rivers wrong. How that changes what you see. I mean i. I don't i. I don't think there is an easy path or easy route or easy answer for any of these teams just because you know a lot is just going to depend on the chess match of what the postseason and i think. That's what we're all excited for a lot as well for all of these teams depending on health Where where does that. Where does that janas block on. Durant rank for you. That was wild. Like i don't think i've ever seen like drake is never been blocked. No no i'm a seven footer. with a wingspan. That gets you up to like eight and a half getting blocked by on that. I've never seen a block. Like that. On a kevin durant type. No no and he came out of nowhere. I was shocked. I was shocked. Yeah i mean janas. He's news a freak. "How was your friday show. I didn't get a chance to listen to it. It's in the queue. I was the friday show. I mean. I don't know how you could possibly mean waiting this long. I don't really know what else do you possibly have to do. You missed me and evan wash the scheduling czar of the nba talking about playing the discouraging of tanking. The fact that this late in the season they have way more teams competing than ever before we talked about all the other aspects of this compressed schedule and the weird season injuries whether that's upper down the two game series. Is that something that maybe we could see a real schedule next season when things return to normal all of the logistics and all the the fun insiders stuff about the schedule and all that this year. So yeah you should go. Listen chris when you've got your double dipping aren't you. You're taking interviews that you're using for prince and your podcast. Actually not this case. I did in fact talk to twice once for the story that i did last week. And then the podcast. Completely separate thing i swear. Now i'm i'm not knocking it. I think in the next couple of weeks. You're probably gonna hear several members of utah jazz on this podcast previous interviews that i've done but check out. Howard friday podcasts yet. Another one this week do have one coming this week with a. I'll just say with a former coach. I don't wanna spacey the name just yet in case that the scheduling doesn't work out. How did the chris paul his mvp candidacy. I wanna talk about the lakers. And some of their problems. They're having but you. And i have had a debate over the last few podcasts about the nets and the importance i guess of continuity of team chemistry does talent win out or will the nets when we look back on this three or four months from now a look back and say well. The nets needed more time as a group together as we often do at the top of every show we bring in somebody smarter than us today. It is sarah stock. The great analyst from yes network can check her out on f s one as well sarah. Welcome to the show first of all. Thanks for having me. This is my first time on yours and howard's podcast. And i'm honored i'm humbled and i'm gonna clip that statement because mannix. I think that's the first time you have said something relatively nice to me to my face. Since i've known you disagree with that. I know entire. I'm going to have to go back and check the tape. Because i'm pretty sure i was not at this tape. No thanks. I appreciate it sir. Settled the debate here. Because maybe there's a middle ground. Maybe it's not one side or the other but howard's of the belief and howard even correct me if i'm wrong. That chemistry matters with his team. That the fact that they've only played what seven games together i'm talking about. James harden kevin durant and kyrie irving x number of minutes and that may not change that significantly over the rest of the regular season. That is going to become an issue for this team in the playoffs. I look at it on a little bit of a different or a lot of different lens. Where i think that these guys just awesome durant. It's irving it's hard and all three of these guys are on the floor..

"It's it's it's like it doesn't mean it doesn't. I don't mean to be disrespectful in any way to any of those guys i think. They're awesome at bright futures. But but now there's just there's just too many other talented young players who i'm already familiar with. Who have already seen. And i'm confident. We'll get better and have really dominant seasons when they're in their prime where i just couldn't put them on the list totally understand from that group. Who did you give the longest to. I think for me. It was probably lamelo cade. But i think you're you're kind of right on the money in terms of where they stack up like even lamelo like lamelo versus luca in five years. I feel like that's still going to be pretty clearly luca you know and so it's going to be hard for him to kind of overcome. That's even positional designation. Let alone overall. Mvp conversation with cade if he's supposed to be the next heart in. I mean it's so hard in a long time to get an mvp. It was a bunch of close calls in just diligent work year after year after year. So that feels more like a late twenties thing then like on arrive on the scene and immediately sweep the nba off its feet. So i'm with you. How would you rank those guys though. I mean i didn't really necessarily have them in any particular order. But i'm gonna throw. Can i throw a name at you. That's a little older. But like i don't know i think he'll surprise you. A little bit is donovan mitchell. Because he's your biggest snub right now. No donovan mitchell is. I have donovan mitchell in the twenty. "I actually think that his mvp odds are going to be really strong as he gets closer to thirty and even beyond because a lot of those guys who were on. That team have already retired. But there's a whole nother a wave of them who are eventually gonna hit the kind of decline phase right. you know. Lebron kevin duran types of players generation will at some point no longer be an mvp conversations. And so i think even though eighty has an come all that close to winning one yet and obviously he wasn't a candidate at all this year because of the injury. I think he's got a really good chance to get one if not you know two. Maybe even more as he gets closer to thirty am. I overstating it no. I think that. I think a d is one of the more you know because of the injury. He's one of the more underrated players in the league. I mean coming out of the bubble. I thought he was the best player in the world and coming out of an offseason that had never been shorter. Did a lot of damage Obviously to him in a lotta ways and like this should have been his. Mvp season in if if the world were normal this would have been his mvp campaign where he could have just rolled through and just dominated the league That's what that's what i think. There's an alternate timeline. Where i think that would be possible. I mean he's twenty eight years old. This is the year like when a lot of guys historically really get to that level and he was clearly talented enough. He's coming off the year where he was he would have been the most valuable player. I think in the playoffs Him or lebron and he was just incredible so he would be like if he were healthy this year and he had a normal offseason to rest. He would have been a defensive player of the year candidate. He would have averaged twenty nine twelve and six or something crazy like that like he would have been incredible. So so your your argument here is buying eighty stock for. Mvp next year because if he does get a real offseason you know he's he's a very undervalued stock. I love that argument. There's gonna be another potential. Mvp year for eighty. Come down the pipeline. Michael when lebron barani team up on the cleveland cavaliers. The lakers are going to be a team if he leads them to. Fifty wins in that. First post lebron year. Watch out. Yes that i tried to factor in to like the team success. And i. You know the lakers post lebron are gonna be just. They're going to be terrible. I'm sorry it just. They are that no draft picks no lebron. It's going to be very ugly. Well i love how we made it eight minutes into an episode about. Mvp's five years from now you cannot control your anti lakers screens. I love it. So eighty was one of the older guys on your list but who were the over thirty guys. Who else did you have there. So i have yokich. Just because like his game will very well. It's not based on athleticism at all and okay so to clarify you're saying over thirty in twenty twenty six not over thirty now. Okay i was gonna say if you had any players who are over thirty now who you still think are going to be hanging on..

It's just been too much of that everywhere. So here's how. I wanna flip it and tell me you're with me on this. Let's dig into our. You know our imagination side of our brain a little. Let's get a little bit wacky. Let's try to channel that oracle from oregon energy that i used to predict the james harden and trade to the brooklyn nets in advance. And that you use to predict steph. Curry was going to be entertaining this year before the your proudest achievement in prediction. And i'm very happy for you. Let's use that energy to forecast the twenty twenty six nba mvp race. So michael this is standing up for all time. These are the predictions that are really going to matter..
