I would really encourage you to check it out. I was just. I was ecstatic. How are you feeling shelf. Yeah i was so exciting watching these trainers you know. We've kind of followed their journeys. So many of our our trainers do such a great job of sharing their journeys with these mustangs. The whole entire one hundred days so we watch these horses and then finally to get them to see them. Compete was really exciting. I think one of the really exciting parts of this was the auction. Oh my gosh. Yeah yeah it was. it was a nailbiter For sure which was great We had ten horses sell in our average was Over ninety three hundred dollars which is a pretty close to an all time record for all of our events over the last fifteen years. So i was pretty happy with that and i think our trainers will be as well. I think iraq. I am the trainers they get rewarded for their hard work Preparing us mustangs. And then these mustangs are going into great homes where good they're going to continue either training or competing or just have a great owner to live their lives with absolutely and you know it's really exciting. We love watching These horses after they graduate. If you will from our makeover programs and see where they go get involved Down the road. We've got folks that go to hunter. Jumper eventing Stock or stuff. So it's it's really fun to see where they've come after one hundred days and it's even more exciting in my opinion to see you know one two five years down the road what these horses have done and continue to do so. It's just. It's so much fun watching these events And seeing how they turn out agreed and speaking of that we actually have a great opportunity for these horses coming up in oklahoma city in just about a month airing up for the oklahoma city extremist makeover absolutely. And that's going to be a great opportunity of for anyone and everyone to come out and see An in person makeover and we're going to have an open show. "New plan all around that all my goodness. That's incredible no williams new tubes and of course the as big into the engines. He repairs rolls royce. Engines in. His shop says such a capability and has enhanced the engine by building. A new camshaft. A roller camshafts. Instead of finger camps. Yeah he builds new cylinders sows owns or the guys can keep their planes. Go on. that's great all right well so like you said. The aircraft first flew in one thousand nine hundred forty and they built one aircraft with an allison v. Seventeen ten engine with that was also used on the p thirty eight thirty nine hundred forties. But that wasn't american centric right. That was initially built for the british correct. They call. There's the mark one. And i think there was a naming convention change north american had named it something and then the british decided to name it. Something else. And were i guess. Happy to report that. The mustang was a british invention as american invention. And so that's why it's called the mustang because everybody liked that a lot more than what north american and decided to call it throughout its life there were over fifteen thousand five hundred of these aircraft built across all the different variants. And everything like that. And you finish your career in the mustang in a d models at accurate One of the listeners that had submitted a question at asked about the bubble canopy. Did you get to fly with before the bubble canopy and then after the bubble canopy at all absolute with three different types of enclosures early basins sees which were the same airplane. They were just manufactured at a different place. the seas were from dallas of bees. Were from los angeles area. That's all right angle. Where was yeah. What did you find was a better. "I was a faith. So i. I'm an instructor pilot at columbus air force base teaching people to fly the t six that eventually moved on to that sixteen. I did one full operational assignment at shire force base and as i was getting ready to go back to be an instructor in the course i was hired. We have sixteen demo pilot. So i spent my last two and a half years on active duty going across the globe. Put net sixteen through its paces at airshows so it was a pretty good deal that does sound like a very good day. I've seen the show since you've left and it's a very good one and it offers a very unique perspective into the world of military aviation that. I don't think we've really touched on here. On the paul podcast. You talked about going all around the world. What's the most exotic place that you think. You went is columbia. So rio negro columbia. I did not know a lot about colombia. four. I went there. There's a lot of watching narcos was but it's such a beautiful country. That people are amazing. That's pretty awesome. How many airplanes would you bring with you on a show like that so typically just to know that show brought to. We did a couple of shows where we'd bring three. We knew for instance the super bowl flyover. We brought three jets because we know we need it. Fail mission. Yeah we had to make this happen. So usually is just two jets. That's pretty awesome. I know i am jealous. And i'm sure some of the listeners out there definitely jealous as well some of the other cool stuff that that opportunity afforded you though was partly why. I'm bringing you here on the show today. Because you got to participate in something called the heritage flight correct dip. What is that so hands down. The best part of being a demo pilot is the heritage flight so there are a select group of civilians. Roughly nine and the heritage air force heritage light foundation is funded through a private person. Who's very well off and loves air. Force loves aviation as well as all these guys who fly. But we go out there. And showcase american airpower for the past seventy years so after at sixteen demo or demo the last fifteen minutes the demo pile rejoined with mustang a p thirty eight f eighty six p forty and they'll go out there and fly for about fifteen minutes through a set profile again to kind of showcase where airpower started and where it is today which is pretty cool. That's amazing for those that have seen it for myself as well. I know it's a beautiful thing to see it's staggering how size-wise how different the size of the aircraft are. What's the most challenging thing. You'd say it was flying in those formations. I appreciate this the speed difference. Yeah so that's sixteen doesn't like going slow. That lasts maneuver net sixteen demo. You're doing about six hundred knots. Okay and then you have to slow down to about two hundred twenty knots and the jets just yelling at you the entire time so it doesn't like it but when they hire to you and i appreciate this it's really cool like rejoining on a mustang and sixteen cockpit. You can actually hear that. Merlin motor just humming away. That's awesome to you. So that's awesome one of the coolest thing i would ever want to experience. How did you.
Ford CEO on the Future of the Automative Industry
"When bill ford offered you the job as the ceo. Did you have one condition to him. I said bill About the racing goes. I like a ceo with petrol in his brain and his veins. So we're good. He's like yeah. Yeah boy was that a lift off my shoulders. I got on the mealy on the phone with my race team and said we're good. We're okay so you knew you had to have that racing in in your life. Yeah i mean. I hate to say it but i think there are things you gotta stick up for your family your loved ones or you know your hobbies when it's all said and done you know you have to have who you are you have to feed. What makes you you. And that's one of the things that makes me me. This shows longtime love in so many ford customers longtime love with the internal combustion engine back now at ford is the ceo. You're actually leading the electric revolution. Despite before being frankly head of the whole industry in being a spokesperson for environmentalism for more than two decades now the management team finally caught up with bill strategy strategies to electrify our most iconic products like mustang or f. fifty and and i would say as someone who's grown up in the car business An electric car is just a better car to hear you say the electric car is a better car is kinda shocking. I had to get there myself too. But you know i give you are just objective about it for a lot of people not everyone but a lot of people. It's got more interior room for the same amount of overall length. Also you remove forty percent of the moving parts and the parts of your removing the most complicated most expensive ones to repair like engine and transmission. They're gone So too much simpler vehicle as much more simple vehicle to make. It's also a digital vehicle. So you could update it over the air. You don't always have to come into a dealership to get it or improved now for someone who lives in rural texas who wants eight hundred mile range. "Arm fran going say now. I'll play why In theory you know when you're going to get these horses you know that you're gonna be competing somewhere else and a good majority of the things that we enjoy with taking our horses other places meeting new people taking our horses to places that they haven't been it's a little bit more of a challenge that way Because you have to prep them differently. But then to you could just see mustang family mustang family or the other trainers. You've competed with sometimes you have Some different People that will come. And watch the events through you've got your mustang supporters and they will come to as many events as they can a year. They kind of plan their vacations. So you kinda miss out on all of that by by not being able to go The travelling part of it for matt night. We have traveled all over the country for staying. We've gone to colorado. We've gone to arizona california texas oklahoma. We're looking forward to that one You know it's just kind of part of the the whole the whole journey with the horse. I guess you know prepping them for that travel and getting them there and i think these horses tend to bond with you even more when you do. Call them a bunch Because you know they go from the her dynamic of being either the leader or or not and then they come into the relationship with their trainer and they have to kind of figure out where their places Initially when you first get them home but then when you start traveling with them they really look to you the heard leader and they trust you and actually build more of a bond with them when you travel Where in the last little bit of crunch time here before the event so there anything pressing that you're working on and he cooled tricks up your sleeves that you wanna fill anyone in honor you saving it all for for a big surprise. Oh goodness what..

Old mustang from the herd management area called sailor. Creek over here in idaho It was fun to have. An idaho oregon. Because of course when you live in idaho it's need to have an animal that is from the same area that you are When we first got him we were. We were about five weeks hind with the way that they did. Pick up this year so Unfortunately we we didn't have any of in our area kinda wanted hold out. We didn't have the time to go looking for one so we did start off a little bit later than everybody else. Our journeys just a little behind the rest of them but we got a very very cool willing and very Attractive mustang.

Well first of all it's national barbie day and it's because it's barbies birthday so i'm gonna talk about this one over in the events so i know i know you want here. I know we'll get to just relax. Don't worry we'll talk about barbie. I know it's exciting. So we'll we'll get there. It's also national meatball day today. See you know you're excited about barbie but camman. Who's not excited about meatballs right well okay. There's actually meatballs. They came from an unknown source. We don't know not like mystery meat like you know some of the meeting certain stores no. It is unknown because literally everybody has some sort meatballs in their cuisine. Like the italians right. the swedes. The spanish the dutch the greek the south africans middle eastern every cuisine. That you can think of maybe not french. I don't know. I don't know if there's a french meatball but every cuisine that's out there pretty much has some sort of meatball so we don't actually know exactly who's got the claim to fame on a meatball says. So yeah what we do know is the biggest meatball and who has the claim to fame of that. Okay here we go. In two thousand seventeen a one thousand seven hundred and seven pound and eight ounces. Meatball went to the italian american club of hilton head. Yes so there is your big meatball. I'm just wondering how they cooked it without drying it out. I always have that problem with balls. It's a difficult thing for me to try to cook and not try them out. I can't imagine making seventeen hundred pound meatball and it. Actually you know having that taste all the way through and not being completely dry. The people that had it well. They said it was a little spicy. So there you go They made a spicy meatball as they like to say Eh it's napping day is well so if i just put you to sleep with that previous story than it is okay but it's not okay for you to take a ten minute nap like i suggested earlier Five ten minutes is actually not a good amount of time to nap. You want to hit at about thirty minutes but not more than sixty so take a nap. Somewhere between thirty and sixty minutes and you're good at actually refreshes you. It reduces your sleepiness. Improves your learning aids memory formation and regulates your emotions but those short ones may do nothing now they just make you want more sleep so skip the five minute nap and just have a thirty minute. Just go for it. Why not what else are you gonna do. It's we're still in pandemic zone here all right when we come back we will talk about our events for today and we're gonna play a little trivia for trivia tuesday. You know i wish for audio gramley. It's fantastic for the podcast. I use it every single day. I love grammar early. And you know what there's a link in the podcast description for you to click and you can try graham early it basically. It's like you know having your own editor. So click the link in the description and out gramley all right and welcome back as i mentioned earlier. I know you've been like reading on this like the end of your seat. They're just waiting to Now it's barbie birthday today. Yeah born in nineteen fifty nine on this day. Her full name. Barbara roberts engineer that worked to create barbie used to work for the pentagon. So you know. Maybe there's maybe barbies are little spies. We don't know but what we do know is it does have kind of a weird body shape i if barbie like you know was actually five foot nine and weighed one hundred ten pounds. She'd be underweight by about thirty five pounds. She actually came out with a book. She didn't because she's a doll. In one thousand sixty five along with barbie. There was a book called how to lose weight which included tips. Like don't eat okay. Well Yeah happy birthday to barbie born on this day. Also born on this day in a way the ford mustang. It began production on this day in nineteen sixty four. And you know. I think i'm gonna bring on randy from driving with randy. Hey randy how you doing. i'm fantastic. How are you doing. Russ thank you for having me back. I'm so glad to have you back. And you know since. I'm talking about the mustang production today. I don't want to play a little trivia with you randy or are you cool with that heke alec stewart. Love it all right. So we're gonna talk about the mustang here. The mustang of course was famous. Were that nine minute chase scene in the movie bullet but what i wonder randy was a mustang ever in a james bond movie. I'm gonna go with no. It did not believe it or not. It did i was. I was kinda surprised by that. I don't remember the mustang. Being in james bond movies and then i looked further. It was actually two movies. They did it in gold finger and they did it in diamonds forever. Now gold for your came out in nineteen sixty four. They used a white convertible with a red interior and guess what totally product placement ford. The bond people to put that in there. So that's why they haven't. Yeah exactly all right. So let's take a look at question number two here. Yeah for you know. There's been all kinds of various colors. some people love the yellow mustang. But in the beginning there was a pink mustang available. They came actually two shades of pink in one thousand nine hundred sixty seven dusk inc and another pink. What was that other pink called. I'm gonna go with hot pink. So i'm gonna give it to you because it's playboy pink turnoff. That was a sponsor as well. But i thought balance little did all right. How about this. We've got one final question for you in twenty twenty one. Why can't you take a ford mustang through the taco bell drive thru and order a mexican pizza. I'm going to go where i don't even have date. Okay it's because they impeach discontinue decided to mess with the last question. Throw you off a little bit. Hey i know you stop by taco bell on occasion on your podcast. Can you tell everybody a little your two year anniversary. It's coming up in april april first two year. My podcast is coming up. Started from my car. We're still in the car. Do lot of adventures every week on the driving with randy podcasts. Everybody they treat you. Do go check that out. I'll put a link in the description. So you can find randy's podcasts. All right on this date in nineteen eighty-one. Dan rather became the primary anchor of cbs news. Dan rather interesting stories that he was born in texas. He bounced around texas for a bit Newspapers radio tv moved up the ranks. He reported on the jfk facination. One year later he was cbs. White house correspondent okay. Here's the interesting thing he was actually. He was attacked in one thousand nine hundred eighty six with a pair of assailants. Who kept repeating kenneth the frequency that led to the rem song. What's the frequency. Kenneth.

A Telsa Model S Refresh?
"You've been telling me about why. I think there's going to be a model as an ex refresh. Yeah and there was like it was really hard to test drive them. There were like upping the sales out of everything they were. You couldn't see them in showrooms anymore night. This big list of rumors as to why we thought it might happen and then like an hour ago. It just all unveiled so well. So there's a there's a lead up to it the the model s. design is it's like ten plus years old at this point like fundamentally. The design of the car is unchanged since the beginning rate. So there's one small outside refresh her where the front grill nose cone. that was an exterior. Like look change. Is that what you call a nosecone nosecone. Yeah i've always just called at the grill. But obviously it's not. It isn't enact plastic nosecone two more metal okay but The autopilot versions changed. But really fundamentally the inside has always been that vertical screen and it's always been the same doors. Same door handles same shape so they've never really changed the model s. in car years. That's a long time let alone tech years that's forever. Yeah so. The rumors have been building for a long time. And we kind of were like. I think that this earnings call on wednesday were according to one night. Just say you know yeah have plans to possibly make video about all this. But we're recording on wednesday night and during the earnings call. They update the site. They give the over all the stuff and dropped a new model lesson ex and yet it's something is there's a lot to it. I guess we'll just. I'm just going to go down the list. This obviously isn't a video podcast yet. But i do have a lot to say about the aesthetics and the things that they've changed right. Yeah maybe i'll use this template as like a guide for the video. What i make it. We'll see i almost debated telling you throw camera up here and just take the clips out and turn it into the youtube video also. Yeah so right off. The bat outside changes are pretty small. They turned all the chrome black kind of like they did with model three and model. I every single car company do that. Please stop with the chrome. I think toyota has been doing it. A bunch with just maybe not even like their door handles and window trim but they've been doing it with their emblems and like the wording and names on the back and they looked so good on every single caller romo terrible. Please stop. Yeah feel old. Basically starting to feel a little bit outdated so it's gone from the car. I think maybe just the logo the last chrome piece. but that's that's pretty sweet and then There's a little bit of a different shape up front a little bit of a more simple grill at the bottom. For the front splitter and different fog i think i read people were saying it looks like the air like in vents are a little bigger probably to help battery cooling yup the better battery performance and i think that leads us beautifully into the new specs before i talk about the interior. So it's just going to be three models model s. and i'm going to focus on model s even a model x. Got this refresh it. Basically doesn't exist tesla like they still make it kind of because they have to nightmare. Yeah there's not a lot of attention around the x this is about the s. I'm just talking about this. Yeah i'm just trying to think of. Who's the i feel like the x. Still gets a lot like in the blogger community. A couple david dobric jake paul logo on it. There's jailers very her. Jalen smith jr jada jason. What's his son's name. Now you've got me thinking. Smith i don jaden has one. There's some there's small market for the ex. Yeah but the model s. is where it's at so there's really just three versions now. And by the way. I'm gonna say overarching for this. Whole thing is simplicity. Dustless manufacturing simplifying line vehicles. So there's three there's a long range model s a plaid model s and a plaid plus model s. so model s long range has four hundred twelve mile range zero to sixteen three point one seconds dual motors and it's. It's a pretty standard. Look that's like what probably most people getting a model less would get then. The performance version is your plaid model s. which goes directly to triple motors. It drops a little bit range three hundred ninety miles but it goes two hundred mile an hour. Top speed and zero to sixty in one point nine nine seconds. I'm gonna say that one more time just in case you didn't hear it this. Several thousand pound four door family car. Hatchback does zero to sixty in one point. Nine nine seconds like you need to like take a an advanced driver's test in order to get something that can go under two seconds to pilot this thing. Yeah yeah every time. I think about like performance cars on the street. I'm like i icy regular people driving cars poorly all the time and i just get a little bit worried about giving them that much power. There's a whole youtube rabbit hole of great like mustang arm beats of people just like wrecking it into the median pulling out yet i mean i guess the good thing is this is all wheel. Drive is the safest car on the world. This is a car that's tries really hard not to crash itself but yeah lot power here but just so you know that's starting at one hundred twelve thousand nine ninety which has ten thousand more than the previous model and then plaid plus is eleven hundred horsepower versus that one thousand twenty of plaid zero to sixty. There are a little more vague with this under one point nine nine seconds. So it'll be faster. We don't know how much faster it's still trip promoters. And it'll do the quarter mile in less than nine seconds which would make it. The quickest zero to sixty and the quickest quarter-mile acceleration in any production car. Ever and again. this is not yet the roadster. This is just a speck. Yeah but the most interesting spec to me of plaid plus is it still triple motor. There's new battery info but it goes five hundred twenty plus miles on a charge. So what was the long range again. Four sixty long-range was four. Twelve for twelve plaid was down to three ninety and then plaid plus was five twenty so this leads me to believe that. Plaid plus is a different battery technology. Do you think it's the one. Because that's sounds around the specs of the roadster was supposed to have right exactly roadsters. Got us six twenty plus quoted mile range and on top of that. This is the one other thing that's really interesting. I'll just touch on the x for a second. I don't think this is happening the x. Because if you go to the model x. site you can see you have the long range version which has a three hundred sixty mile range and the plaid version which has a three hundred forty mile range. So there's no plaid. Plus so whatever's happening with plaid. Plus is i guess this ultra high end security premium powertrain and battery system that only the high end model s. And i guess eventually roadster star gonna get it. Sounds like it's just a roadster with a model spotty it's a four door roadster four door to door. Yeah no it's it's a it's a crazy it's crazy car i. I'm prefacing all this with like. I don't need it. I'm not gonna get it. I'm gonna wait till the roadster but also this is absolutely insane. What they've done now really. The the most important part is the inside of the car that they've updated so like i said simplicity's sake finally switched to the horizontal touchscreen inside which i think looks pretty good. It's like a little more well integrated with the car doesn't stick out as much as three. Yeah i think what i like. I like that. But i liked that. They kept the screen in front of you. Like a regular odometer like they have in the model s. already because like three and y. I'm fine with that screen. There i only thing is. It's a little weird that you have to look over seer odometer but the fact that you have a better spot there and you still have your regular like driving odometer with a high acid and speaking of that steering wheel hobo this is this is the interesting went and i think this is where a lot of people are polarized because this interior looks very similar minus steering wheel if you look on their site. It's a yoke style steering wheel and it's almost kinda squared off. So it's like the bottom half of a square steering wheel and then there's a bunch of buttons on the steering wheel itself and there are no blinker stocks. No windshield wiper stocks. Nothing behind the wheel. No paddles no nothing yeah. Let's paint a picture here though. Because i've never heard the term yoke style and i only understand it because i saw the picture right before so picture fighter jet handles like that. Yoke style top trying to top office doing rectangle and doesn't have a top part. So yeah i'm just like i was just trying to think about using it. In general it seems so cool for like straight line in like minor turns on a highway but exactly turning around in a parking lot or like a tight driveway or something seems miserable on it. Yeah i this is one of those things where i'm imagining it and i'm imagining it really poorly and i think i'm just going to have to try it because as of right now i don't even think this is legal to ship yet. I think you technically have to have enclosed steering wheel and then people earliest you have to ship it with one and the people can modify it later. I think that's technically the rule here in the us. I don't know the rules internationally. But i've never seen a car actually ship with a yoke steering wheel before so again. This is all tb will see it happens. But i think i'm going to have to give it a shot because it's really weird.
Kristy Swanson defends Trump from 'cancel culture,' demands to be removed from John Hughes films
"Actress. Kristy swanson wants to be cancelled and she wants to be cancelled to support a president trump. So let me explain this forty five years ago. Well she's she wants to get in the time machine and b. Can't let me explain last week. Fans called for trump to be digitally removed from home alone two loss to new york and over the weekend. She tweeted because she was worried. Who want oh. We want to be digitally removed. Taken out of home alone to wow. This is scary and kind of tearing down. Statues is one thing but that digit physical but digitally removed. That's interesting yeah. I agree to this thing is like you're honoring racist or whatever but like he was in there was an extra ticket. Oj naked gun ignored. Berg gotta make berg. So she's kind of calling the bluff in some way says if cancel culture is really going to have donald trump removed from the john hughes movie Then in support of my president. I'd like to have myself officially removed from the john hughes films. Pretty in pink and fares. Buehler's day off now if you don't remember pretty in pink. She's at the very end. I think she's credited as like miss duckie. Because she's the one that jon cryer sees at the end and like she gives him a little wave and then the credits roll in fair to dealers. Day off. I think she's the one that does the speech about fairs like my sister's boyfriend's cousin's you know some fainted flavors. I heard it's pretty serious. That's kristy swanson. So she wants both of those clips removed. Of course twitter is just beating the shit out of her for this. You are in that. Who are you. Who cares but You know she makes a point. She kept her mustang in my warehouse for six months where you are right now. No i have multiple warehouses. Why i asked. Yeah i wish. I could remember the street name address but glendale with all that really how it got to me. Or she's needed a place to keep her her her mustang. I had no idea how hard core she was. She is hard goddamn core man. Twitter bio is like some about quitting. Proud mom god. I was very religious. I only know her second hand my dear friend lindsay parker who is in the movie flowers in the attic with her when they were when she was a baby i mean. How old is that movie. Remember from the mid eighty s. She worked with swanson played her sister and said she was

"mustang" Discussed on KTRH
"Michael and Rachel. Look us to California. Hello, Michael. Welcome. Why, sir? Throw the beyond your show. So I was wondering the new Mustang. The ICO boost has been around for a few years. What Your opinion is of the build quality, like the transmission overall car And what your opinion is a new Corvette and that's it. Thank you. Hey, could tell you if I were gonna bomb Mustang today? And I could choose between the four cylinder EcoBoost and the Mustang GT. I would pick the ego boost and everybody here knows I got a heavy foot. And I tell you what. When I reviewed the Mustang EcoBoost sometime last year, I was blown away with the performance of it. Why would you pick it over the GT? It's got 330 horses. It gets great gas mileage. How much is there a price difference. Oh, it's huge. It's huge that you could best. Yeah is a much better by Yes, Yes. And so if you don't do that, you're looking at a Corvette. You looking new Corvettes? Well, I was just curious what your opinion is of the build quality of the Mustang and the new Corvette. What Your opinion is of the build quality. I know it's probably too new. But the Mustang Nico Boost has been around things like the transmission. Yeah, and in Morris, more importantly, in 2015, they changed the suspension, and it went to an independent rear suspension that made all the difference in the world in the handling of that car. This is one of the better cars built. It's just like I was just talking about with the Chrysler 300. The best thing has had very few changes through the years. And all the bugs were gone. I mean, it's beautiful so far on the Corvette. It's been exceptional and you gotta be when I look in a car, like the Corvette also have to consider Most people drive those cars. They're hard on it, and I'm the same way I had two Corvettes to see sevens and got rid of both of them with just virtually no miles. The second one 2016 06 After two years. I had 275 miles on it and traded it, But the quality on the new C eight so far knocking out wood has been great. There were few little bit issues. In the early days when it first came out since that time, it's been great. And everybody that I know that has one loved it. I got good deals for both of them. Michael at my website. Get.
Mustang Mach-E First Drive Review - Ford's All-New New Electric Crossover
"The car driving today is unique for four if their ever history fully electric battery electric vehicle designed from the ground up to be electric unlike some other early eighties like the nissan leaf. You know where. They decided to go for efficiency. Make it as a compact car for decided to go for the heart of the market. They what they really did was. They learned from tesla looked at. You know what tesla was doing. And how tesla was succeeding. That was making cars. Were cool looking. At cool technology had good performance And offer great range and ford decided to start with a compact midsize. upper compact. You know mid size crossover market is today. That's what people wanna buy It's getting close to suv's and crossovers are about forty percent of the us car market now and so the originally conceived this vehicle announced early twenty seventeen as a more conventional tross over. It was basically you know it was going to be front wheel drive. More something like Electric version of the escape Which is very popular compact. Crossover for four but late. Two thousand seventeen. They decided to completely change direction. They realized that that was not a car that was going to get people excited to buy an ev from ford. And so what they did instead was. They said okay. What's our what's our icon. What what is the vehicle that really gets people excited and within ford. The mustang is considered the heart and soul of the brand. It's by no means the best selling car but is the car they build that is representative of so many things for fun to drive. You know the racing history. Ford ford's racing. History goes back to before there was a ford motor company. Henry ford won the money that he used to start ford motor company by winning a race winning the vanderbilt cup and so the The they decided to use mustang as the inspiration for this car and and the end You know what they came up with was a crossover that has mustang design cues but they also knew that if they were gonna put the mustang badge on it that they needed to make it something that would fail. Drive a mustang. It's obviously a car. That's much taller than a traditional mustang. But because it's electric. That has the battery in the floor underneath the floor. That's still gives it a relatively low center of gravity. And they put a lot of the people who've worked on mustang over the years on this program and to try to infuse it with as much mustang dna performance dna and And they territory an attitude as they could and so they came up with something that has echoes of mustang but is also very practical car. For the first time ever you know traditionally mustangs the backseat and the mustang is not a place where you where you wanna be if you're an adult. It's fine for kids but know it's always been a two plus two this is a real five-seater got four doors. Got a hatchback big big cargo area in the back. And it's something that can be used as a family car but it also has a lot of that mustang. feel but it's also extremely modern. So you got things like the fifteen and a half inch touchscreen display in the center here with their sink for a system on it. They designed a completely new user interface for this car and this is going to be spreading out to two other vehicles as well. Unlike tesla Four as ford decided that you're not going to have everything in this touchscreen interface here They did retain a an instrument. Cluster display up in the front here directly in of the driver. Which i think is where it belongs. Yes that gives you information like your speed. Your driver systems systems like dab cruise control and lane keeping assist your range information. All that is right in front of you in the in the user interface here it's designed to be basically three areas three zones of this. You have the main zone up top here which is whatever the current application that you're using right now. It's navigation for dr route but You've also got these cards down here in this lower in this middle section here which represent the other applications that you've used most recently so if you go to things like you know right now there's an iphone connected to this which is being used as the phone is a key system and that brought up the the apple carplay interface and you can see that when it carplay interface came up navigation. Went down here into the most recently used slot in the in the cart section. So i can quickly get back to toggle back and forth. I can go to the ford pass out for charging. If i want to go to tap that and you see the Carplay and the navigation ford passer still down here instantly accessible so the system learns based on your behavioral based on what you're doing and so i'm going to go back here was also At the top here have Your your picture. You can have profiles from multiple drivers in here. Each driver can have Is tied to their own kifah program it to the fourth pass app on your phone use. Use the phone as your key with bluetooth belly when you tap on that it shows you all the apps that are available to the nice thing that they've done with his user interfaces. They've kept everything close to the surface close to the top so you're not drilling down through multiple layers of display multiple layers of interface. To get to the things that you want to use. It's all up close so right now. there's three three drive modes that are available right now in whisper mode which is the most economical mode the quietest mode the engage mode is the default mode. That's kind of a nice balance between the better better efficiency but also more performance and then unbridled is the the most performance oriented mode and what changes in between each of those modes. Is you get changes in the searing. Feel the amount of steering effort and you know for an suv. This thing has excellent steering response during feel to changing the drive modes also changes the accelerator pedal response so in whisper mode. It gives you a little bit slower response when you tip into the accelerator pedal A little smoother. Calmer more comfortable feel to it But then when you go through engage and finally to unbridled each time it gets a little more aggressive both with the the tip in response so that you know when you when you hit the accelerator pedal. It'll respond quicker jump off line faster in unbridled than it does in either engage or whisper but it also does the same in reverse for regenerative braking so in whisper mode you get more aggressive region or rather than Br bridled mode. You get more aggressive regenerative braking than you do in whisper mode or engage mode and you also have the option here separately for one pedal driving And you can set that and it'll stay remember what your settings were So it always goes back to whatever your last settings were so one pedal driving is great especially if your stop and go traffic in city traffic or On a on a on a highway even in stop and go traffic jam because it will bring the car to a complete stop when you lift off the accelerator. So i have not touched the brakes and the car coming to a complete stop here and then accelerating nice. Quick celebration puts you back seat. It's not as fast right now. As the tesla performance moats. But this also isn't the highest performance version. That's that's gonna be the. Gt the machi. Gt comes out in the summer. Twenty twenty one will be the version that goes up against the likes of tesla model y performance with it's insane mode the gt's going to accelerate zero to sixty in the in the mid three second range. Which will put it comparable to the shelby. Gt five hundred. Which has the giant supercharged v. Eight engine when i drove the machi earlier this afternoon on the auto cross course that one we drove was The rear wheel drive version. And what was interesting about it. Was you know they. They really tuned the suspension field. To give it more of that mustang. Feel so we get some off throttle oversteer. Can you can control the attitude of the car really well with the accelerator pedal the ride quality and this despite the performance capability is actually quite good. It's very comfortable but it's still got really good body control one other aspect does change when you change the drive. Moans is the sound there's the unbridled gives you a little bit more aggressive sound to engage. It's a little bit more toned down and whispered as you would expect. it's very quiet

Xfinity Series Champion Austin Cindric
"On the final with us. Today is austin syndrich. Welcome back to the program of great. Thanks for having me all right. So twenty twenty. Xfinity series champion That's got a nice ring to it right. Yeah without a doubt. I mean you work in an entire year. Obviously this year's been been crazy and trustful for a lot of people and a lot of different ways and Obviously rise to the occasion on on on the right weekend is is is ideal but The the work put in all season. It definitely makes you gratifying. So i take us through this closing laps. What was going through your head. Obviously we had. We pulled away in the lead with older tires there and I thought that was the hard part and turned out You know caution with three to go Having to come in and put on tires and that we are at a pretty big deficit I think that was the right call to make but putting yourself by maple on on on the offense and Having having to make two laps and make it happen when a championship in the with with with our competition definitely wasn't gonna be easy and putting a three wide off at turn four to win the championship Was was pretty cool. I thought i thought we all wreck for for a moment there and Definitely definitely dramatic finish and Glad glad we had to earn it but Definitely go out. It will all work out. What What did you do to celebrate. So yeah i've been trying to do the maximum obviously The different year As far as getting people together and enjoying things with that'd be with my guys do people shop or or or just my friends and family so That that part's obviously been a bit more of a challenge but Saturday night after the race. I can promise you. The the twenty two team had a great time and Major everybody got back to their rooms. Nice and safe but Otherwise it was it was. It was a fun night. looking forward to To enjoy during the season and coming back even harder and twenty twenty one. What are some of the things. That are a champion has to do during the week. Afterwards is it. Is it more than you expected. i think it's a lot of things that i wanna do myself It's it's. It's not things that that other people will put me up to as far as Like i said. I've had to be very creative in the last couple of days. Far as trying to figure out. Like i said what the maximum is that i can do to to to enjoy championship with with my team But also making sure i don't even turn you don't wanna championship every day and It's really difficult to do this in. Obviously we had the opportunity. Try new again next year but Trying to make sure that that. I don't miss anything almost anyone and I enjoy the moment obviously You're going to be kind of like the the face of the sport or the the face of the xfinity series for next year. What does it mean to be a champion and carry that flag. I think anyone who's watch watch series for the last couple of years. Watch me grow develop at the driver. Obviously i have my one one season in the truck series beforehand but that was it and As far as my career. So i've come a long way in a short amount of time and and i think Anyone who's watched those races that seeing that Has it's hopefully been able to create that. And as as seen this team really rally around me and in my development and obviously it's been a lot of fun to be able to do that and go on win races. And and then put ourselves in contention all year so it obviously Gives us more to look forward to. Obviously there's going to be great competition next year. I excited excited to see the full line. Up of drivers that We get to compete against and Looking forward to doing doing the most. We can't to make it back to phoenix and try and contempt for another championship now. Obviously every year. There's a big awards banquet at the end of the year this year. It's going to be a little different than can be more of a an awards show. I'm sure you're still looking forward to it because you're going to be honored. Their yeah i just want to get back all hours. Upset at other people's banquets watching other people talk. I want to do the talk. Our team to get the talking but It's it's obviously a challenge but No it's hopefully. Everyone can tune into that. I i got got wrapped up with with my obligations for that Just just yesterday actually so Looking forward to seeing that. It's also fun to to to to share that with with the other. Competitors are in shown creative while we were in nascar Production dairy and talk and talk to him about his race and and obviously Obviously chase elliott pretty pretty cool for the sport there and Obviously very well deserved for him and his family's well. We're on with xfinity series champion for twenty twenty austin syndrich and every year penske. Does this big olympic style kind of stuff with all their drivers and and and and crew members and stuff like that. This year was dodgeball How'd you do was it fun. It looked awesome while. I'm gonna brag on myself here for a minute because In p when. I was in middle. School and high school dodgeball was my thing. Okay i i don't know why i i obviously love it but For whatever reason. I just have a knack for it so When when they decided they were going to dodge ball with all the penske drivers i was. I was pretty keen so the game. They go to penske social channels. They haven't shared up on there. But i was the last man standing for a very long time Got a lot of people. I got blaney out by far the most athletic driver on our team pretty. I got him out early in the game But yeah it's great fun it. It's it's so cool. Because we're such a diverse group of drivers. As far as the different race series and and you know different nationalities and obviously we really different personalities. So that's always a really fun amick and I hope everyone enjoys that kind of stuff. I'm sure it's a big A team bonding kind of thing as well. Hey later today you've got a alive. Qna online. Are you are you nervous with some of the fans might ask you know. I don't think so Obviously we've got like said the life you and eight six six thirty on penske social channels on facebook and Looking forward to seeing the turnout we get for that. Because it'll be my crew chief. Brian wilson talking about Pretty much our season that race. Everything that's come down to it. Obviously brian i ever really greatly relationship and Look look forward to take jabs. Adam if i can't tonight what are some of the things are gonna be doing in the off season Both to relax and maybe even stay sharp for next year. Yeah i'm i'm still working on that. But i made a long list on the flight home from phoenix as far as things don't want to do and i i started to realize i'm probably not going to get everything done. I'd say top of that list is continue to work on my project car. I've got an eighteen ninety three volvo station wagon that i've been doing a Coyote swap was basically putting the the drive train. The the motor from a ford mustang. So go to five hundred horsepower. Engine in a in a ninety station wagon is has been no small feat. I've been working on this thing for for two years. Now doing all the work on myself so it's been really fun to to learn that Learn that side of things i. I think it's made me a better driver. And the obviously it's a it's a great pastime. Okay that's one of the most unique rebuilds. I think i've ever heard what's the goal for that. Car the goal is to be stupid or noxious. It's gonna race track. It's just it's just supposed to be loud stupid and fast. The car actually ways Significantly less than most most rijkaard's. It's actually smaller than you think being a station wagon. It's only twenty pounds. So a couple of hundred pounds lighter than most modern cars so nothing's gonna rip so Hopefully i get tight and have some fun with it so looking looking to make a pretty big debt absolutely now over the next year and a half or so. You've got a lot of things plan. Obviously going xfinity series racing next year. Defending that The championship and you're also going to have some cup series races Have they decided that your schedule yet. No it's definitely ongoing. Obviously gotta make sure things work logistically and and try and figure out the the right thing whether it be my development or having partners on the car but I'm excited for for that opportunity to to learn at the high level But i'd say if there is a race that i wanna do They're they're going cup racing at road. America on july fourth weekend is going to be amazing so I'm hoping that i can get to do that. One that one's definitely at the top of my list but Overall just just happy to happy to have that kind of an opportunity happy have the groundwork laid out for for for for my development over the next couple of years that's very challenging thing to to navigate in the sport especially the drivers so Looking forward to taking advantage of that opportunity and make the most of your drivers don't have the opportunity of knowing. Hey after next year. I'm going cup racing. They don't usually know that You still got to keep the eye on the ball for the community series. But i'm sure you're still excited about twenty twenty two. Yeah without a doubt to have that opportunity. Go race for the wood brothers in in in twenty twenty two. Obviously that's a that's a family. That has a huge legacy in the sport and The opportunity to to build on that legacy is something i definitely. Don't take lightly. I i love the history of the sport but also the the wood brothers eddie. Len modern john. Those guys who have been big supporters of mine Since since i've really come into nascar so excited to get to work with them here in the next couple the next couple of months after after twenty twenty one and Really really start the next chapter of my career with those guys so Very grateful for that as an opportunity. But i really really focused on defending title. It'd be be great taylor to walk out the as two time champions but a lot of work that needs to be done in a lot of hard competition to the face before then all right for sure last question any plans for the rolex twenty four working on that man that's that's always grind. I mean that is that is a given so Definitely definitely doesn't hurt to in the off season In style like this but Yeah i i wanna i wanna do the rolex again This past year was actually the first year in in three years that i hadn't done it so actually spotted the race for one of the penske cars which being outside in the middle of the night for twenty four hours is enough motivation for for trying to find drive the next year. I don't know what is so I'm i'm excited to try and try and navigate that I want to win that race. Really bad that's that's that's where i've been really passionate about for a long time a lot of miles in a lot of hours in so Still still on the lookout for for the right combination and Hopefully hopefully things down before the holidays. All right. he is the twenty twenty extended series champion. Austin syndrich thanks as always for being on the final

"I also have the Mustang and it was the commercial must Mustang really was about $100. Mohr. Then. Ah, a lot of the other units that are out there suspenders. And I was shopping back and forth thinking and that I think that Mustang has £35 of flotation where the cheaper models have £25. And I'm like, you know if I'm floating out there in the shipping channel and have lost my boat or fallen in or whatever. I'm going to want to be glad that I spend an extra $100 for the commercial grade Mustang. Your life was the $100. You know that. Especially you gotta look at it. You know that. I don't want to spend 100 too much of our quality of life. Not worth that. What is your Children gonna think white? No. Whatever. Family. You know, don't cheap out on those pft. No, I agree. I've got the Mustang and it's got an indicator light before I turn it on. I looked down and there was not indicator light, but it's got a gauge on it. That tells you that it's locked and loaded on good and ready to go. And I snap that thing on at my advanced age. You know, And you know, you don't even know when you're out there by yourself that you're not the guys see me when I pull up to him, and I'm on a boat by myself. You don't know what you're going to trip fallen and hit your noggin and fall in the water and drowned. So Exactly, And I speak too many reports about you know, guys, people dying, you know, drowning because they don't have the FDA is very sad. Well, like like you said, with those with those suspenders and a Mustang style, I completely forget that I'm where it is not like putting on a ski vest or a horse collar or any of that stuff. I forget that I'm even wearing it. The only flowers Sometimes it might get in the way of fighting decision runner, but that's about it. You know, sometimes it doesn't happen often, but it's rare, but that's okay. I just You know what the best over no.

"The Mustang but that doesn't answer the question of why a car chase that's more than fifty years old still tops best of lists in twenty twenty to find out more I called up Jack gill he's directed the car stunts in everything from Captain America to the fast and the furious movies Dominic to hop you don't know you're about to before directing though he was a stunt driver himself I started out dukes of Hazzard driving the generally for five seasons gill says for him the bullet chase lives up to the hype the reason that that still holds up over all this time is because every time you see it you feel like you're in the chase with them and the filmmakers were able to pull that off by putting cameras in the cars with the actors which was pretty revolutionary for the time all of these camera angles that nobody had ever seen before bill says those camera techniques were so influential in fact that they continue to show up in modern movies and you started seeing it in every other film after that that had a car chase scene and you know anything you can thank god we were mounting cameras all and to this day even in the fast and furious franchise that's exactly what we're doing there are some idiosyncrasies in the chase though about eight hub caps fly off the charger as it makes its way through San Francisco and the same green Volkswagen Beetle seem to keep showing up in the background Gil says that's all part of the charm them there's no doubt that this chase holds up completely in today's world bullets Mustang pulls up alongside the charger the crunch of sheet metal echoing through the hillsides over the roar of two V. eight engines as one of the goons levels a shot gun through the window at his pursuer bullet swerves into the Dodge knocking it off course and down an embankment.

Lionel's phone number it always garage there AJ I and I'm willing to donate his soul Sir you Troy Dyer for somebody that'll do it justice I can't I got a twenty year old hip replacement of flat black kid I couldn't stand all that link so I got rid of that but it is still shoot flames out them still pipes and at three fifty five plus I got an extra engine transmission drive shipped I scraped out of fifty six my my brother in law's got a bunch of records and I inherited this one because it was my sister just got circumcised shed light bluebird behind the doors for Ford fender skirts this is the red light quintessential and I'm just look I would donate somebody will do it justice let me just sitting at one well I tell you what first of all thank you for your service I don't know that I could have done what you did that that's very special second of all so what you're like what you're asking about is there someone out there that would help get this car back to fight finish state so you could enjoy a little bit and then they can have it is that what you're saying yeah me too much well grandkids of tried we you know we've flat black get down and everything but yeah it it needs somebody that knows what they're doing what so what needs to be done.

So if you buy a mock e you get you still get seventy seventy five hundred dollar tax credit and that makes a big difference especially when you're comparing the prices to say when the model e comes out Tesla does not have that rebate anymore more because it sold so many electric cars. Now you will have to wait a little while for Amok e they're taking pre orders now you can put down a five hundred dollar refundable deposit but they're not going to start arriving until closer to the end of two thousand twenty and those will be more expensive versions like there's a first edition in a and a premium version that I think they're selling

"The pictures you know we have a ride. Along one of our reporters was out there. He got very brief ride in the new mock E. and You know you can see that. It's all very forward looking very futuristic futuristic. I think it looks cool. Yes some of the feedback online that I have seen include that you know. It's it's definitely different. Look to a degree for for the Mustang brand to not be just A. It's not just a car per se. It's more of a crossover right. Yes so that is probably like the big point of controversy for this. Is that Ford. Put the Mustang name. this crossover vehicle I actually don't think the electric occasion part of it is all that that controversial. I think it's frankly a natural step to make the Mustang Electric. I think we're seeing. The future is going to go electric in most segments concern. I think frankly you know I think making a electric mustangs brilliant move you got a ton of performance and power out of that You sort of future proof it if you will in some ways I think some of the controversies come. From the fact that this is more of a crossover a crossover if you look at it it's You know got that sort of silhouette the wet The stance is a little bit different than Traditional sports cars sports coupe like the Mustang But it also has a lot of mustangs styling cues and you know especially if you look at the the headlights. The Hood. The tail lights So I think I think basically what they're trying to do is take their strongest name. which is Mustang? It's like conic it's been around for decades really resonates with consumers with Buddhist and put it on Perhaps one of the most important vehicles going forward which is an all electric Crossover so I think they're just going all in on this It's risky but it's a very aggressive play and it could really pay off. Do you have any kind of like background on the infrastructure for these kinds of things. Because I know that there's like charging that that works in that tends to be a concern for folks of like. Where are they going to top off this thing? I know there's varieties on on range but it is kind of. I believe it is comparable comparable to the test as far as rain. But what about access to charging basically topping this thing up yeah So there's a wide variety of ranges actually all the way from two hundred ten miles to three hundred to even more than that depending on what size You know battery options you take or if you want all wheel drive rear wheel drive so once you kind of figure that out then you would sort of sketch out. How are we going to use this? You know your Mustang Machi And there's two different kinds of chargers as you can get. There's a home charter. which would you know? Certainly if you're going to buy a vehicle like this. You probably very seriously look at getting a home charger. I I think that's a very logical practical thing to do. There's also a mobile charger. which you could also purchase so that would sort of maybe alleviate some some of the Ranging Ziobro a little bit if you could get somewhere where you can set up your mobile charger And you know a lot of that is to come this vehicle isn't going to be You know available until late twenty twenty so I think there's going to be a lot more As we get closer to the launch as far far as Ford plans for it infrastructure and really just setting up the rule out of the Machi and just first impressions for you. Then how do you think this is going to stand up in in the big electric car. Debate is is something that Ford really should be able to hang their hat on. Yeah I think so. I think As far as making this watcher car I think this is a really strong move. I think if you kind of look at the landscape and say hey. The future is electric and consumers consumers like crossovers. What's our best name Mustang? Okay let's roll with it. I mean to be this is taking all of your strongest elements and looking at the competitive appealed. It just going for it. I think I think that's a great play I think Ford is probably going to run into is running into some distance from its hardcore hardcore Mustang Bass reading some comments on our site and you know some of the tone from some of the other maybe more enthusiast sites. There's a little bit of. I'd say mental calibration calibration. is they try to sort of bigger these new elements of the Mustang But I do think once you get past that and I think that's actually very like vocal vocal minority. Perhaps if car people. I think once you get past that having electric Mustang is a very compelling thing it's a sort of thing that if this was just called like something generic like the Ford you know the Ford something like a green kind of ten for the name before the week you in order to steal like a Nissan name or something like that. It might struggle to cut through the clutter but now you've got a name universally known by all kinds of consumers and you had the element of what Trysofi and you make it Fairly you know practical. It's a crossover that's going to give people who are maybe crushed shopping Tesla's or some of the other electric offerings from Jaguar. And Audi and take a look at this 'cause this could fit their needs. And then you like I said You roll in the Mustang Element and people are like. Oh that's cool. It's not just generic electric crossover. It's also a Mustang so I think it's a risky play but I think the payoff is is very. Hi potentially very high. Well Greg.
