"Long while administering pre-game painkilling injection. NFL PA aware and investigated hearing that and throwing that in the entire La chargers quarterback position. What position is the team in right now to CAL shaw. First of all I mean you feel sorry for Taylor and remind you what these players go through things. We never think about things. We never hear about just to get out on the field some now having gone through all that what do they do have Justin Herbert who had had a nice game and almost beating the chiefs. Continues to play. Well, do you go back because it seems unfair that Taylor got this injury in this way or do you do what you think is best for the team I think you have to be on the side of best for the team, but that's a tough situation for tyrod. AIDS. I would call the father says alarming on a couple of different levels. I mean he was getting a pain injection because he had cracked ribs which he was apparently going to play with, and also the chargers history with doctors is very dicey. Going back to two thousand, seventeen and other years. I don't love that as the quarterback situation little known fact that game got. A higher rating in La than the Lakers game did that because people wanna see Herbert you telling me had a nice game. This dude clearly is capable of leading this team. They probably should have won that day I. Think. So I don't think there's any decision from a quarterback standpoint you play the kid but the rest of it very concerning for sure. Okay. Jackie macmullan. Yeah just this is just a bad story all the way and Clinton you talk about alarming. He's GonNa. Get a pain. Injection whereas ribs I guarantee you was not the only one in that locker room some kind of injection to go out on the field. That's dirty little secret of the NFL. We've known that for many years here for players after the fact. In terms of what you do next man, the NFL's a coal business. I was around New England with drew bledsoe his chest nearly sheared in half, and then a young guy named Tom Brady filled in for him of never ever gave up the job again that's how the business word we talked about the story Monday and now, and now some light has been shed why Anthony Lynn was so pronounced with Taylor's jobs losing because he knew the tea was at fault here. That's the. Team is at fault and whether I've seen mixed reports here, you can't sue. But through the contracts players, you can't sue a team here. But what if someone to qualify this I have the power were but someone were to use the word negligent that was punctured during this. I don't know. It's it's really alarming. As you said, Yates, we'll move on her cell to in Philadelphia this exchange between Doug Peterson. About Carson Wentz in Media Bill Ability. Some of the throws that he's missing are sort of layups. What could be the reason for for some of those easier missiles he's missing. Have you played quarterback in the National Football League. I have not done. Okay. They're not layups there ain't a throw out here. That's a layup philly voice reporter Jimmy. Kamsky. Asking Dak. What. How did you hear that? Clinton Yates. Here. This like a guy who thinks his job is on the line and is trying to blame the media Duce staley come on down. You know but I mean come on that. I have not done. Put It on a t shirt and now by it and we're on the show because that was legendary good job out of you. So in your opinion, not fair for coach to question that question. No. What is the point of asking somebody if they've played in the NFL that has absolutely nothing to do with future office looks they're getting full starts at home in the fourth quarter when there's not even a crowd there it's a team together Doug stop blaming the guys that are asking you questions Jackie macmullan. While Clinton I guess you don't like to fill the eagles. Good. No they aren't and I think this is a coach maybe protecting his quarterback a little bit who know has been under fire even when they've been winning is somewhat of a controversial guy, that way even zone Locker Room I. Love this but I do I hear this from coaches all the time that they they think we're all know it alls that has never experienced anything and I get that but I still don't love it. Do you believe? Is it unfair question, Jackie? I I will say this I don't know if you should call the throws layups. So maybe that's what TV Jackie. He had a better way of handling that. I think. I believe it's fine for the coach to say these really aren't layups out here and I would also say that I think it's clear whether even though he had a bad game, there's no question about that Carson Wentz has been. Somewhat. In. Philadelphia. For the three years you think going into his fourth year that he's been there. Yeah. All right. Well, there's some people believe he's been under malign like he's been given this job. Per Bowl someone else has won a super bowl for Philadelphia recently. Gone, get a move on by yourself read baseball all the lynchings.

Shannon Sharpe reacts to Lakers GM 3 loss to Nuggets in Western Conference Finals

"III LOVES SIGHT THAT LOSS. From the Lakers and how about we break it down right now guys Lebron. What is third triple-double this postseason, but it wasn't enough against the nuggets. Last Night Denver led by twenty as late as the fourth quarter Lebron Ford in thirteen points in a last-ditch comeback at. Albury, finished with a team I twenty, eight, ten of which came in the fourth defend off Lebron the Lakers and hold on for the one fourteen to one. Oh, six Windsor Shannon. What is the biggest reason? The Lakers lost this one. They came out they came out and look like a team was to oh, and they just thought you know we don't come on here and do what we do and and not play hard and you could tell early on the nuggets were getting whatever they want. They drive laid up in the paint they you'll get to his dominant hand his right hand. Kiva phenomenal player. He's GonNa make shot skip that shot that he hit with the clock winding down on the right foot. I note most guys right handed shoot that shot Dirk Nowitzki made famous what he shot off his left leg I've never seen right hand guy shoot that shot up the up the wrong foot. I mean, 'cause we shoes tonight expected to go in everybody that's a bad shot clock winding up I expected to go in but I did not expect the Lakers to look this flat. We've haven't seen them even even against a Portland skip the first game even against the rockets the first game they didn't look this flat they I'm like broad do realize the western conference finals. you mentioned it a D. Two rebounds and they came in the last five minutes of the Game Hey deeply forty-three minutes. Avail one rebound white one rebuilt. If you tell me skill that the nuggets will out rebounded again by nineteen. If you tell me, they're going to turn the ball over the Lakers. I'm going to say the nuggets going to win the series, but I don't believe that I believe Lebron ad will play better I. Believe Lebron will be more aggressive because I thought the second the second in the third quarter. Eighty go it and it seemed like Lebron was designed to say you know what you gotta go hey, we're gonNA keep going. But skipped ahead, given up so much ground they had dug themselves. So much of a whole maybe if they don't allow get a eighteen twenty, maybe ten twelve now they can complete the comeback but I thought the Lakers played like a team that was looked. Like they didn't have they had a away game and if through this game away but what are the process what you've done if that you giving these guys confidence because now they think they can beat you they do they feel like Murray for sure thinks he can be yes and he's talking like He. SHOULD BE UP TWO GAMES TO ONE IS I've seen story before the thing is with this guy when he gets hot and. Those lash those last second shot because I saw him in game seven you remember the clock out of both have and he throwing up three's from twenty five from thirty feet and he switching. So he has confidence in their gaining companies but the problem that also has get, you can't have every guy that played for the nuggets with the exception of to a temp equal to or more free throws they Lebron James that tells. Me He's not getting he's not driving the ball. He's not aggressive enough or they're not calling it. So for me, that was the different. They just lacked intensity. They came out like a team that was too low and had the game to throw away I. Expect I know for certain and I'm going I, don't care I. don't care what the line he'll. I won't do on it right now you do I won't do right now.

"It always is good to prove people wrong people that maybe didn't think you had the goods to make it so, he says. I always bet on myself. Ah, he's part of that Kentucky contingent that is playing really well now. So if you're John Calipari, are you not feeling like a proud Papa. So Bam out of bio was also out of Kentucky, and he said after the game, he's the one that told Pat Riley to go get Tyler hero in the draft. I think he was. He's a year ahead of you. You're ahead behind, However you say it. He was drafted a year before, so he wanted to have another Kentucky guy there in Miami. When you think about it, Anthony Davis and what he and the Lakers are doing. And and then Jamal Murray, who's sub been the subject of I don't know how many John Calipari tweets over the course of the last couple months because of what Jamal has done in the bubble. He's kind of been one of the big revelations and Tyler hero as well. Now, is he going to go out there and score 37 every game? Probably not. This is a really balanced offense. In fact, Tyler himself said. Usually it's Jimmy Butler, who's taking those shots down the stretch. He's the Alfa male. And he's the one that we look Teo but happened to be his night and there was a lot of fun to watch. I swear on some of those three pointers, the ball barely touched the strings. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. Let's say we are We having fun tonight talking about quarterbacks and specifically young stud quarterback, So I want to continue to get to some of your reaction and one of the reasons we're doing it is because if you look around the league right now, and here we are staring into week number three. Almost half the teams in the league. Our starting young cubes. Now many of them are 25 under so we count. I think 13 that air 25 under who right now are starting that does not include the Dolphins, of course, goes to Ah hasn't taken over yet. Did you include We include Justin Herbert in that or no, because Herberts filling in right now for Tyrod Taylor. He's not in the 13. He would be number 14 right. He'd be number 14 to it would be number 15, and eventually those guys will take over. It may not be this year, but eventually we'll see those guys as long as they stay healthy. Then if you open it up a little bit more right. So does Sean Watson, Patrick Mahomes, Jared Goff there all 25, even though they know that they've gotten their big contracts that no longer on their rookie deals. But if you opened up a little bit more, Dak Prescott is 27 Mr Biscuit. Weirdly enough. We were surprised by this. But Mr Boesky is 27. All right, so you could look around the league and say OK, there's a steady influx of young cubes and there Not forcing the old do thou? Because you can't do that? I mean, it's good to have been. Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees. It's good to have those guys Ryan Fitzpatrick to kind of bridge this gap here and and they represent an old guard but a very successful garden. You were talking about some of the most successful quarterbacks, future Hall of Famer and depending on how you feel about Philip Rivers, there's a very real chance. I know he hasn't done anything in the post season. I get it but his longevity and his career numbers Could Make him a Hall of Famer. The difference is you many him and Eli Manning. I mean, their numbers are very similar, except that, of course, Eli Manning has the two Super Bowl wins with the Giants, but Philip River steadily climbs up these career charts. So that's a debate for another day. My point is only that you're looking at some of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. When you talk about Ben when you talk about Brady and Brees and also Aaron Rodgers, I mean, he's going to keep moving up those charge to as long as he's playing and then Philip Rivers is already in the top 10 of most major NFL quarterback categories. Until they represent They represent. This recent past is very rich, recent past for the NFL, and it's hard to see them go. If it was it was hard to see Eli Manning. Go Peyton Manning go. You know that they retire and we get adjusted. We missed them, but we move on and Then the league is in such good hands. Think about it. Half of the league is starting these young stud cubes and so we're asking you Not Patrick Mahomes. They're taking Patrick Mahomes off the table. We're going to pretend that he's decided he Ah, he would prefer a career in baseball. No dislocated knee caps in the game of peace bow out anyway, outside of Badger Mahomes, who's the quarterback? Whether it's the style, whether it's the size, whether it's You know the sample that you've seen so far, And for some, we've seen more than others. Lamar Jackson versus Say it, Joe Burrow. Andi had a lot of people are confident in Joe, already two. Who's the quarterback that you would grab? For your franchise. If you were Building one right now, and you could have one of these young stud cubes except for passion, homes. I know it's not fair, but that's how we do things on the show on Twitter, a law radio also on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lords, I asked that question of Gus Ferrat, who was a guest earlier on the show. He was a quarterback from the late nineties to 2008. Was his last season, He played for seven teams. I I didn't remember all seven of them, but he played a lot of different systems with a lot of different guys and lasted for a long time. So asked him that question. We had a really cool conversation. He's now a podcast host. It's called Huddle up with Gus. So we'll let you hear part of that conversation coming up, and then we'll get back to your calls. 855 to 124227 and then on Twitter or Facebook. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS Sports Radio. The new razor from Harry's is not the same. In the past, Guys have been overcharged for razors. "On Billy Donovan becoming the new coach in Chicago to 43 1 57 as the head of coach of the Thunder. We know what he did at Florida. He's gotta rebuilding job here, though, in Chicago. See a few weeks ago, supposedly numerous MBA tried to hire him. And who wouldn't want to hire a baby? He was coach of the year this past season. He was co coach of the year with Budenholzer from the box. But Chicago details they missed playoff missed the playoffs for the past five seasons. Lots of players play with with certain patterns in they do specific things at certain times. So it's it's know we speak regularly before the matches. Go through what the opponents, what we might expect them to do what they did against them last time if they did it against the lost time and it was successful low probably good again, if if they didn't work than the opponent will change it. The laker fans have their reasons. the clippers fans have their reasons. The nuggets fans have their reasons I think I just clip. Yeah they're there It's it's rough right now. I mean I I I think any team that had duplex have experienced. What just there? That is a devastating blow, but I think I just watched. McMahon I'll see if you agree. was. An Absolute Total grade a choke. Oh, not just. All much in the three one aspect I mean that jokes who actually in the three one aspect especially in the blowing double figure leads in the last three games while choke in that even setting that aside, I'm just talking about the actual performance of night. Oh, what it only took him seven minutes in the fourth quarter to get a bucket. Yeah. Okay. We're of P. turnovers than frequent hold on hold your fire is just for a second dinner decided the backboard hold your fire for a sector. That would i. I think what I saw was that was a historic choke job and combined with a spectacular game seven performance by the nuggets or. Spectacular Three game comeback by the neck and look. Let's give the nuggets credit to straight series down three one comeback when Bo series Yokich. There's no. Yeah. But with Yokich is at minimum a second tier superstar right behind the parental VP candidates well. He was a I hear superstar in this game. For sure. He totally eviscerated Kawai Leonard in this game and really in the back half of the series but in this game. especially. Yeah I mean he he was great in this game I mean. Just. Look at the box score Paul millsap only had six points but. his buckets were huge. He played on the better six point three rebound performances. I've ever seen Jamal Murray. We've gotta get in this guy's on the Kahane's factor starting five this year forty points in a game seven. So yes. Absolutely, give the nuggets credit and we've got time to talk nice about the nuggets. But what we need to do right now is pile on the most arrogant bunch of guys. The most Arab arrogant franchises never sniffed a frigging conference finals and hey, props to the Portland Trailblazers back court for completely unloading their troll game. Warden CJ mccollum absolutely deserved to just fire away because you got Paul George and Patrick Beverley acting like they're on some frigging dynasty. They've never sniffed the conference files. Why are they act like there's some you know I mean come on now. So yes, I. I'll be honest I thoroughly enjoyed the collapse and the troll jobs that came along with it.

Oscars Best Picture Contenders Required to Meet Diversity Standards

"Since we're gonna talk about since we're going to talk about movies, this movie debuted 40 years ago. I don't not sure never won any Oscars. We can talk about a different kind of odds. And that is the odds that will be in your favor when you exhibit Perhaps the greatest comedy motion picture of all time. This is going to make it look like Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is gonna be the kind of thing that your Children because they did. I could look up to you now. I never could before. I mean, we made a lot of cheap movies for you guys that made a lot of money. But now we have spent a little more than we're supposed to. Columbia Pictures has spared no expense to make this fine science fiction comedy So they're talking about is that's Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray talking about ghost workers that they put that out to theaters to convince them to show the movie it was. It was something they set out to particularly independent theaters saying, Hey, this is Ah, a little something you might want to consider it your little Arthouse cinema. Now you had one guy was one of the Ghostbusters was a black guy. So there okay. Winston was black. And and then one day I was Jewish. I believe Well, Rick Moranis was in the movies, but I don't think I guess later on. He was kind of an ancillary ghostbuster, the Reynolds Jewish Council's a minority. For some reason. Reason this is important is and I'm reading for The Times. New Oscar standards require best picture contenders must be inclusive to compete if you wanna win. The Oscar for best picture, and I Do You have tohave you meet need to meet certain quotas to do it, Which is the way all great art is made. Certainly we all know Novels, songs movies television shows on the best artist made with quotas. So they came up with this a couple of months ago. This is AH attempt to be more divers to be eligible for best picture of film must meet at least two standards on across four categories of diversity on screen representation. Themes and narratives. So the theme of the movie has to be inclusive of a variety of groups. And it's under representative groups, including women, People of color LGBTQ, plus people and those with cognitive or physical disabilities. You have to touch on at least some of those not only in the cast and they're talking about the main cast. Um I'll read from what it says in The New York Times those standards record, one of the least one of the lead actors were significant supporting actors is from unrepresented, underrepresented racial or ethnic group. One of the lead actors are significant supporting actor. So in that group of people that the movie is all about, you can't have if it's World War, one movie a bunch of white guys, No. No. You gotta have. I don't know, eh? A black guy funded through the trench er. At least Marriott cheap and at least 30 books. They've sent a mariachi band with clearly Mexican people to entertain the troops. Shut them up, or we're going to be bombed by the Germans. Then the mariachis district and you never see them again. Ugo. There's your Oscar bait. Joe Getty Hollywood Quota consultant from No problem I got this. You gotta touch in coming of age story sitting in Norwegian filming Fishing Village, a 16 year old boy and girl and love trying to confront their Nazi past. Let's see. Let's have the Globetrotters come to town and play an exhibition game And on one of the dates they go See the Globetrotters check. $100,000 at least 30% of all actors in secondary in minor roles air from certain underrepresented groups and the main Jenny called the Globetrotters again, and the main storyline, theme or narrative of the movie has to be centred on an under representative group to qualify for a best picture Oscar nomination, And they went through the list of a bunch of movies that might not have made it that have one. You know lots of Oscars, including 1917, the World War. In film or the Irishman that came out last year and was a piece of crap, But in very was a great movie. It was bad, but it was long. I just I just Go and find this. Absolutely amazing. Yeah, on this is from liberals. People who think art is important people who send their kids to expensive colleges to get our degrees. They want to have constraints on art. The Liberals do? Yeah. Yeah, quotas. Good luck with that. My loathing of Hollywood. Well, it could get a little more intense as it turns out, but just If if if it didn't Indicate what James Lindsay has been talking about that this is coming on hard in society as a whole. I could just roll my eyes and move on said Good, Eat yourselves. You're cannibalizing yourselves, And I think it's hilarious. But it does mean that that sort of racialist thinking where everything is broken down to your identity group. You could only get a job if you're this or you can only be fired. If you're not that, or You know, you can only move into a neighborhood. We have quotas and neighborhoods quotas that everything that's dangerous. Is there any chance that any of the older liberals because always talking about the liberals over 50 seem to have a different view of these things? Like a Rob Reiner makes a movie with like what you're talking about here, man. Just those Like, really stick his thumb in the eye of the O R. You got something, you know, three hour long Goodfellow State movie, and then then you turns out Henry Hill's wife, at the end of it says Not only am I leaving you but I'm a lesbian check. We're down here getting a Hollywood quota consultant further preceding three hours. She's been a lesbian. You just didn't know that was your biases. There you go

Nuggets even series with Clippers behind Murray’s 27 points

"While the nuggets jumped ahead of the clippers early on Saturday and never looked back. Jamal. Had A game high twenty seven points as the nuggets led the entire game to even up the series with Qui- in La Nuggets. Coach Mike. Loans at Denver was a noticeably different team compared to their game one twenty three point blow at loss to the clippers or Shannon. What was the reason the clippers lost this? Late. The that is the biggest reason why they lost this ball game Jomaa Murray had him on skates. You had him like he was on the slip inside he couldn't stand up you remember the last two minutes, but let me get to this. Later now Friday night ginny people at home and you can attest every network the Lakers lose Lebron scores. Seventeen zero was in the fourth quarter Kawhi Leonard goals four seventeen scores, thirteen points and not one network not NBA. Not The other network mentioned that while Leonard had zero points in the fourth quarter, this is why I read a follow visit than winning read where he said why couldn't if while wins the with the final become there'd be why he isn't in the gold conversation because he does not receive go criticism everybody's been a rating, Paul George everybody's been reading Yada Takubo. Leonard has never received criticism badly, historically great players have received therein lies the problem you cannot defend. Well, he just shows up in the playoffs they got within five this was. Nuggets' Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray lead improved energetic effort to beat Clippers in Game 2

"Yesterday the nuggets lead. wire-to-wire top the clippers tie the series at one game apiece a little surprising sure I mean they got off to a huge lead and held onto the victory lead biggest takeaway from the nuggets game two victory over lic. So many positives take of this from Denver they jump. The clippers gave him the off punch in the mouth from the start, which is to say it was led by their styles, Jamal and nickel Yokich. They got lots of contributions from other guys as well. MILLSAP I thought was good in this game. Gary. Harris Marco Porter Jr. coming off the bench gays in the middle of a lift as well and even rant. Jeremy Grant was their defense I thought was exceptional. There was a several times where the clippers were in the pint and there was two or three Denver Nuggets, contesting shot blocking shots, and really making the clippers feel them in the paint, which is important. But the biggest takeaway for me is we knew the clippers we're GONNA come back. This is a twenty point late in the first half and it. was like in the NBA that never lost especially in the playoffs. The biggest question for me would the nuggets be able to hold onto this game and win it, and there was a crucial moment that minutes ago in the fourth quarter I think it was Po Georgia to three brought to a five point game and that was the sliding doors moment of the game. What would the nuggets through from? And began to our and just show that that first quarter net hop surge was nothing more than like. All right. We don't get swept all would they actually be able to maintain what they've played up to for that point and they did they came out and hit three threes after that and basically stretch the game out and Kinda sealed it from there. You know like it was sort of sent the message that the clippers like we're. Not going away and and again, it wasn't just Murray and Yokich was other guy is contributing and so to me it did sort of say, Oh, I, picked I, think the clippers to win this five. But after watching that performance in the way that they won that wire to wire, I'm a little more now convinced that the the the nuggets can make this series and an an a longer series I still think clip is ultimately win it. But if it goes six or seven, now, I wouldn't be surprised because I just thought that the Denver Nuggets after Guy Wander the first quarter they thought it off well, and then they just Kinda sunk from there and Michael Malone said we need to have better energy for the entire game and they absolutely did last night. So very impressive performance from everyone yokich again was great and so is Mary but really important that those other. Guys contribute and make this more than just a sort of a like a like a run in that first quarter just to get just to get system, they actually sustain that the entire game. So that's what I thought was most important for the nuggets at the something there that they can build on going forward in this

Clippers vs. Nuggets: How the teams match up for playoff series

"It's the clippers nuggets this one tips today Thursday at nine PM Eastern. interrupters. Ton of Christ, says, this is weird because that is my sister. Okay well. I. Now, it's good. Good good It's too weird. All right. The clippers took two out of three regular season Games including one twenty, four, one eleven victory in the bubble. So let's get to the keys to this series clippers nuggets, and then we'll make our predictions task whether you're watching. Well, Jamal Murray is going to be the number one objective for the clippers defensively. They're just going to be a Angel Momma and I think. This is GonNa be one series where quiet Leonard has to guard Jamaa. I think whoever's playing point guard for them is going to be too little to guard Jamal Murray whether it's beverly or Landry Shamet and I think Paul George is too big. So it's just GONNA work out. That Leonard is going to be on Jamal primarily that's going to be as matchup like it has been the last two times they played during the regular season. So that's GonNa be exciting, just watching Leonard. Have to exert a lot of energy expend energy. You know it's not just your plan pick and roll Shimomura he's going to give up the ball. He's GonNa frigging run around off ball and he's going to be dancing and I think. We know that guys are going to help out. With those guys I just mentioned and if zoo this is going to be a really big really big series for him. We saw what happened in in Utah if Rudy Gobert comes up and plays Jamal Murray. The numbers change so that's going to be there huge huge vote because this is going to be so hard for me to go and come after what he just did. Now he's going to be watching Kawai. Leonard and I think we can sort of lock in on this end of the floor because I think this is Paul. George series to take over on the other end and I think it's good Paul George. He's he feels like he had a nice fresh manscaping grooming fact that the fact that this is a new series he should feel. A little rejuvenated. Also. Because he's not going to have a tough assignment I think going up on the other end. I think Jeremy Grants going to be guarding quiet he has all year. Paul George at millsaps Tori Craig's little too small former. Michael. Porter. I don't know about that. I saw Paul George should have. The Freedom and the ability just because the defender he's going to have to go offensively and. Can expend all that energy. So I think that's what's going to happen. We're GONNA have we're going to get Jamal come back to Earth a little bit because this is the clippers defense here. Yeah

How did Andy Murray win that?

"Right Okay Day to the US Open. How on Earth did Andy Murray do that Catherine? He's just one from four, six, four, six, one, three down. How has he done that somebody explained to me Name Messing with the lewd tonight is the plum street in the deepened. Question isn't it? I mean what's going on? Well, they said to two women who we had to know primarily a CEO Tim. If you had to attribute that combat come back to one thing and one thing I think we're on a time limit. What would it be and he said halt. I think I mean obviously, that is that that is a word that covers a broad spectrum of things all of them are. Totally embodied by Andy Murray persistence to nasty doggedness stopping this. But obselete hot is what got him through a very bizarre tennis match today I mean I'm sure in the annals of time we remember the witness of if the match that will suitable fade away and we'll remember the school line in the emotion whatever ends up coming in the aftermath, but it was a It was a rookie right of a tennis match for for a long time. someone on twitter said that there was once a racehorse who died and when they cut the race open they realized he had a heart that was bigger than any other race horse in history and that feels like the kind of thing that might happen with Andy. Murray one day. That's a morbid take on them on a very joyous occasion for Andy. Murray. But it is one of those things isn't it? Because we think of Mary is so relatable and yet. On occasion like this, we I genuinely have no idea how he does something like that. It's it's thrilling to watch but I, come explain it. He operates on a different level of guts and defend defiance and resilient to what I'm capable of even imagining. In the you say that was a bit move it but didn't the encore interview immediately off the match the first question was Andy. We buried at the Australian Open last year and yet he He was just an alternate set of on the sports accidental turn of phrase unfortunately most well, we'll maybe fortunately a lot of these faces obscured by a mask, but I would quite like to have seen his full facial reaction to the declaration that he'd been buried the tennis community. Hopefully hopefully, we're looking at about fifty years down the road a sixty or something like that for. To have this. This forensic analysis. David Lewis let's get out of this. Yeah. Let's do that. Tell you what I think. We have just a bit of history in order so that we know exactly where we are with the Sandy Murry story. This is a man that was supposed to retire twenty months ago and. He didn't he went and had a hip surgery he went and had a new metal, hip. He then made a comeback and the combat went really well, and he won't doubles clean said he played mixed doubles with Serena Williams, at Wimbledon and then he went on won the singles title in Antwerp and it was just amazing and then he looked like he was hitting the buffet Z. looked like he was in real trouble when he had the complications and what was it called it the impingement of the joint with which which was think caused by sort of spare type thing on the hip and is causing all sorts of trouble didn't play the Australian Open this year I personally thought he was probably finished really at that point for. Twenty time. And slow behold he comes back place last week in Cincinnati Stroke New York has those two great wins over Varun Ti and then. Lost didn't look great against Manashe rich but comes into this match and a half to say I felt pretty sheep pretty. Confident on his behalf I thought he would. He would have struggle against a very good player world number forty, eight Yoshito Nishioka from Japan. He's twenty four years of age Manu beat Dan Evans. The Australian Open, this year, and who just has one of those really solid sprightly games left handed can hurt you but can also stay in rallies and for an hour and a half. He made Andy Murray. Look terrible Andy Maryland made himself look terrible and At that point I said on the radio and I know I said it on the radio because the BBC sport website copied and pasted my words into their text portal and I, got seventy four negative votes as a result of the words that I added which were Four six, four, six, one, three, headlined. He may not be able to do this anymore and I said this is one of the worst performances I've ever seen from Andy Murray to Grand Slam. He's got a metal hip, and he may not be able to do this anymore but looking at this having covered. So many of his matches I've never seen anything quite like it before past is not feeling very well, I, expected to see a fight tooth and nail his opponent is good and I thought he could cause problems but I expected it to be hyper competitive and Murray would win but it's not even close. And I stand by every single word that.

Im obsessed with Tik-Tok! How can I make money from it?

"Hi, Chris. This is Kelly from Los Angeles and I am obsessed with Tiktok. How can I make money from it? I was late to every social network and I don't want to miss my chance this time. Now, I see people using Tiktok in lots of ways in some thirteen year olds have millions of followers. I'm not thirteen and don't have millions of followers but I'm getting good at making short comedy videos based on the stand up work I do. But. How do I go from people liking my videos to getting paid there seems to be a missing link. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you Kelly. So glad you're out there I will be. Keeping my fingers crossed for your tiktok career. Now seriously folks have you seen gummy bear Adel just google that if you have not discovered that and some of my detailed research into this question and also from watching videos in the middle of the night Google that phrase gummy bear del, you'll see a recreation of Adele's classic hits being performed by an audience of multicolored gummy bears, and of course, are many re-creations of this video with more gummy bears and paper cranes and other small object cover bands. It's crazy what people put out these days like I said, a lot of talented people out there also a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands. But all good now as for the question is is tough. Okay. Because there are a lot of thirteen year olds with millions of followers. I'm not totally sure I always understand all of it myself whenever I make this show or give advice I try to be aware of my own experiences and constraints and biopsies and such but I would say just just kind of looking at it big picture don't mistake your social media following for customers I know way too many people with large followings on lots of networks who don't actually do that. Well, on the business side this is kind of like the the secret of you know some of this influence re world in Florence. Murray, just made that word up because they don't have a product. Then there are lots of people who have very little social profile. They actually don't post very much at all and they're not really engaged in that world, but they do very well businesswise. So it's just a question of like what are you trying to focus on? What are you trying to accomplish and I would say one thing that would help if someone is going this route is to connect their online fame to some kind of service or product from the beginning. So if you're a comedian, you know sell tickets to shows virtual or otherwise and do that actively and frequently from the beginning. And include on your profile page where people can support your patriots just for example, it could be something else same thing if you're a musician, make it clear that you're actually trying to accomplish something through this process, you don't oversell you'd want to over promote but at the same time like having that connection to something is not just important. I, think it's vital and of course, wherever you can encourage that legion of fans all those followers to migrate away from just following you on one network because networks do come and go even the big ones to following you on several or downloading your podcast or joining your emails like. Actually choosing to be, you're not just clicking follow button on one particular network. That's how you'll establish more lasting meaningful and ultimately valuable connections.

"Gentlemen though Murray Becky have you ever heard the expression bill? Murray story I have what is a Bill Murray Story? Apparently all kinds of people have their own bill. Murray story part of it's like urban legend. You'll never believe who snuck up behind a stranger and covered his eyes and said guess who and then they turned around and it was Bill Murray. So there's Oh there's an entire book I think of Bill Murray Stories. I've read a bunch of them. Netflix series. I believe knowing bill I think most of these stories are probably actually true Because this is a pretty whimsical guy. And he's a bit of a jokester. Had people are always amazed who show up at a party in Austin a house party where he just shows up or I think at one point he got pulled over after he was driving a bunch of people home from a party somewhere in Scandinavia on a golf court carton and cartons. They'd all been drinking. So you have your own bill. Murray stories absolutely. Yeah sure we got to Know Bill. Murray over the years through the Pebble Beach. At and T. pro-am Where we'd convince them sometimes to come on the show and the thing with bill is you never know. It's really tough to pin him down. You'd invite him on the snow he'd say sure. I'll be there maybe and say well we're doing a live show so yeah okay. I might come now. We have gotten lucky a few times. Here's Bill Murray on Squawk box back in two thousand twelve. Do you know that that you've reached icon level domer-? Thank you for joining Laurie. Read somewhere warm so I want to back up a second to ask you about what it's like actually requesting Bill Murray on a television show. It's like a wild goose chase. You know you're on a scavenger hunt to basically try and track him down because usually for people in Hollywood they have people right. They have age easily publicists. They have assistance. They have people you can track down based on the press releases based on their websites based on whatever you can find those people and eventually get a message passed through most likely Bill Murray doesn't have any people. Have any of that apparatus. He's got an eight hundred line so there's an eight hundred phone line that you can call and leave a request. And maybe he gets it. Maybe he doesn't But you know it's not just us who have left chasing this If you go online you can see Sofia Coppola talk about how she tried to track them down when she world lost in translation for him. She tells US amazingly funny story about how she kept leaving messages on. The eight hundred line didn't get back from anybody and NFL spoke. Well I'll tell you. She eventually says I think she called me. She knew somebody she knew him. Yeah I think she called. Robert Deniro and said Bobby. How are you doing right? You know. I've got something for you and I'm just writing the script. And she was telling the whole thing and she said and I just wondered if you had bill Murray's phone number and then she told her Dad Francis Ford Coppola about that and he said you did what you call them and basically says. I've got this great script and give me somebody else's phone. This is a good time to point out that the urban legend myth making machine around Bill Murray is immense. We did a little fact checking about this particular story and found two thousand four interview that Sofia Coppola did with the American Film Institute about Lost in Translation. It is available on Youtube and the legendary actor who was her constantly. Era in the casting of bill. Murray was actually Alpa Chino. We did that. I recall about five or six. I got him. That said. That's what happened. We just kept pestering leaving these messages on it. I've also heard he's never told me this but I've also heard that. Sometimes he used to pick up the eight hundred line and pretend like it wasn't him. Yes maybe he's here. I'll try and leave the message for him. So that's right. It's not easy but when you get through man that is the feeling of total success right. The best path of all time. There was a time where we're maybe they thought you were crazy out here. Now you are on every single marketing material that. At and T. Has beaches a picture of you? Sort of a a watercolour of you like tipping your hat to the crowd as you as you want. Cinderella story dating. You know when you come on too hard you know. There's like a creepy desperate fields. You know people just kind of go like you're nice though but it's It was we just kept trying to stay relaxed and loose and we always believe you if you could have the most fun and win in another squawk in Pebble Beach. Tv Appearance Spill Murray reflected on the movie. That comes back again and again. What were you doing on groundhogs day because I know what I was doing? Well one you tell us what you're doing what I was doing. I was watching. Groundhog'S DAY GROUNDHOG. Dash and say there's an AMC marathon. They played it again and again and again so I caught the end of one and the beginning of the next. Why why do you think that has such slunk deputy? Well I think because. Amc Can get away with showing all day long. I'm trying to cover all the holidays. You know the major ones in the minor ones. I think it's an extraordinary movie. It's it's in the library of Congress. It's a very important movie. The the premise of that film is is a great one and the executions very very good so I mean. I don't take a lot of credit for the kid who's idea was danny. Rubin is a great that I mean. He was touched touched by God when he wrote that. Obviously he's known for his comedy career for ghostbusters and Groundhog Day and lost in translation and caddyshack where he played a groundskeeper on a golf course and he has this completely separate career in golf. He's really great player. In fact he won the Pebble Beach. At and T. pro-am the year. That I came on with us so I've been trying to convince my percents that were good luck. Charms and your captain scrounged Groundhog Day. Kingpin Caddyshack Lost in translation stripes and soon ghostbusters afterlife. Our next celebrity is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actor. He's a comedian. A producer writer and was a member of the greatest comedy ensemble ever created with Saturday night. Live playing four. Save one life thing please. Welcome to the three hundred celebrity challenge to turned eastward Murray Cup champion the wall in bill. Murray not supposed to have favorites. But I do couldn't be wealthy. Do they do this thing? It's pretty cool. It's a celebrity golf tournament and they get anywhere from eight to twelve lately. I think teams have been formed for and the way it's kind of evolved is there's two teams one is the Murray team. Which is bill. Murray the others the Eastwood Team Clint Eastwood and so the two of them come on were different right. And and head up these two crews these two teams and they're competing for the charity of their choice each of them they play five holes there three m sponsors the event and I asked Bill. Why did it he said well there's three people were nice normal from the Midwest kind of Nice people And I think they all appreciate doing this for the charity. Because when this used to be the Bob Hope Classic these talk about how it was for charity and I think at the time. Sometimes they'd break even maybe sometimes they'd raise a little bit of money for the local charities but since the corporate sponsorships have come in and since this has really happened they actually a ton of money. I think there is like seventeen million dollars for local charities and there's a big crowd that comes out even though this is the day before the actual tournament begins there. A lot of people come out because this is a chance to get up close to Clint Eastwood. Bill Murray Huey Lewis is paid and played in the past spray. Remount Romano's plans also my twentieth year playing starting to get shorty that anybody watch get shorty your own and you got to be podcast her for the first time. Yeah I just Kinda followed them along and it was my first time ever doing a podcast off my phone by myself. So it's really proud that I was able to figure out the technology behind. This is becky quick. And I'm trying to test to see if I can make this microphone work At the AT and T. pro-am in pebble beach and we're going to be following some celebrity golfers around today. Thank you very much. Can you interview they. Hi Okay thank you very much because on this we have to pretend. I'm doing a podcast for Squawk as we do every day. So that's all over the place. I'm saying this is how I worked at it because I don't do the show today or tomorrow I'll do a podcast so I I was talking. I picked up some of the Natuna. We're talking to some of that. Sounds when you guys were talking. I just went over by the natural sound. Like it's when you're not talking to a microphone. I'm just picking up the goal over by the microphone so I can pick up like time. Well we were way the heck over there. That's very hard shot to stop because it goes away from you know it's just off the green right there but from where I was. That was pretty. I was pretty please yourself. I'm going to be a little difficult to be with for the next couple of hours. Back INTO SHAPE JOINS US on squawk Box Co. few times at the Pebble Beach pro-am and we've talked to him about a lot of different topics not just movies. And how chooses roles but also investing and entrepreneurship? Right what are some of the things that stand out to you about our conversations with him over here just how smart and thoughtful and how much of a business mind he really has? Because again that I used to think that was a really rare thing and it it look. It's rare for somebody to be so good and talented in one arena to take it to that. But I think a Lotta Times the pe- The top athletes the top entertainers The top singers. They do have very great business minds and that's just part of how they've gotten to be so good at what they are. The business goes hand in hand with that and a lot of them do think Beyond just the chosen career about the entire business of it. I I used to think that was really rare but the more of these people that I've met who are at the very top of their game if you're at the top of your game you're not there by accident. It's because you figured out how to navigate a very difficult Set of circumstances to get through to the top of your industry whatever that industry is And and bills really right right in line with those things. He's incredibly thoughtful. Deep thinker about a lot of things including investments. He watches CNBC A lot. I heard from him today. Been watching us so you know. This is the type of thing that he's interested in kind of thinking about the Fed is a we don't have long conversations.

"Mm-hmm and there's only cardinals had done some significant rearranging just before they drafted cuyler Murray including bringing in new head coach Cliff Kingsbury. What was the thinking with the way they were constructing their team at that time? Yes so the Arizona cardinals when they hired cliff Kingsbury to be their new head coach. This was one of the most surprising prizing shocking moves of the last. NFL offseason. This do Kingsbury that just got hired by the Arizona Cardinals. I'LL UPI my goodness John J. C.. Did I miss something. He got an offensive coordinator job at USC and before he had a chance to take take a leak. This has got a head coach adopt in the football league. He didn't even have an opportunity to roscoe's for ticket. A waffles. Close Kingsbury had this reputation in college. Football of being. You know a very creative mastermind really good offense and designing plays and you know one of the best air-raid coaches available. He wasn't necessarily a successful college football head coach. He had less than five hundred record as a head coach. The trend in the NFL was hired the best offensive minds that you could get the year before. They drafted Josh. Rosen with the number ten pick and that's a really significant investment to make a quarterback but once cliff kingsbury came in. It was pretty clear. That Josh Rosen was going to be on his way out cuyler. Murray was going to be on his way in and that the cardinals were going to build everything around Schuyler Murray starting in two thousand nineteen and moving forward. And how would you grade. Cutler Murray's rookie season incomplete at this point is probably the easiest easiest way to say it but it hasn't been perfect but I think there's been a ton of positive signs look. They've only won four games so only slightly better in the wind in department than they were a year ago when they ended up with a number one overall pick. But you know a lot of the reasons that they've lost games haven't been because of Kylie Murray's performance percents You know I think there's a lot of reasons that they only won three games last year and you know top to bottom the roster wasn't very good. They have a lot of defensive issues going on. This was a major major overhaul that they're going through. But when it comes to Kyle Moore. I think when the most the most important thing isn't necessarily his stats it's not about how many yards. He's he's throwing for every game. Or How many rushing touchdowns he has. It's about how is this air raid offense that cliff Kingsbury has brought to the NFL. How is it working? Is it working working week to week. Are we seeing progress. Are we seeing development out of Kylo Murray. And if if that's how you're grading it then you have to consider his rookie year success. I I think what he's shown is that ah he can play in the NFL. He can succeed in the NFL. And I think in Arizona. They're confident that they have their guy in cuyler Murray. And that's is probably the best thing that you can say about him right now about his rookie year is that it has worked and that they believe they have found their franchise quarterback and you talked earlier about his impressive running abilities. Howell is that part of his game transferred to the pros very while I there are designed runs for him but they're very well designed with multiple tight end serving as blockers or two running backs fats to set up? kind of really these really creative running lanes for him you know he is. He is faster than everybody else. And that's what's been really fun to watch. Is that what I discovered when I went back and was watching these YouTube. You know these Games on Youtube from two thousand twelve when he was playing in high school that you know the way that he was out running and just racing racing past all of these high school kids from Texas in two thousand twelve and twenty thirteen. Sometimes he's doing the exact same thing now against nfl defenses. We're still all seeing that explosion and his dynamic running ability But what's so important. I think what we can't forget any time you talk about tyler. Murray is that well yes. He is really fast fast. He's so dynamic and he's so dangerous and valuable as a runner. What really makes them special? And what's going to turn him into a franchise quarterback and hopefully make him last a long time. I'm in the. NFL is that he's a really gifted passer. He's extremely accurate. flurries on his armed talent that you would not expect to have from somebody who is of his stature That's going to be the really really impressive part of his game that some other are you know quote unquote running quarterbacks who have flamed out in the NFL did not have. And we talked about Lamar Jackson on our show last week and how his incredible running skills are changing the way that some teams see the quarterback position. You Know Russell. Wilson is another person who's talked about similar style. Is this becoming a movement mint in the NFL. I don't think you can put Kyle Murray into the same conversation yet. As Lamar Jackson and Shawn Watson and certainly not as Patrick Mahomes who who is already won an MVP award before he turned twenty five. But you can see that the. NFL is on a large scale more willing to embrace embrace quarterbacks who don't necessarily play a pro style system who don't come into the NFL how to play under center. Were Rip off Twenty Word Word Play titles and all of these sorts of things so I think that's really encouraging that the NFL is finally embracing some diversity. And what quarterbacks physically look like but also in the way that they play it seems like the one thing that's new and all of this kind of Murray's that he's been losing this this year and that's not something he's ever really had to do what is he said about his new reality. You could tell especially when the cardinals were on a pretty lengthy losing streak from late October. All through the month of November that this was weighing on him he would be like the. Obviously nobody in this building. Part of this team wants to feel like that because it's not a good feeling so and I know we're better than that and we got another opportunity. They Sunday and the athletics. Athletics Scott Bordeaux are beat writer in Arizona. You know in the middle of November. He kind of really perfectly described a scene where you know Cuyler Murray was just so dejected. Did sitting at his locker and this has been really really difficult for him and in the reporting of the story you know I talked to a bunch of his high school teammates and his high school coach is kind of about that and you know would have think it has been really difficult for him because this is a kid who never learned how to lose I think it was really encouraging to watch the way that he played in week. Fifteen against the Cleveland browns or he had one of his better games of the season. And you could just see how happy he was and just relieved and I was like. That's the kid that I saw on those youtube videos. Where you know it was it was Kinda defined again and I think maybe just remembering the things that he loves about football and that it is working and I know the season isn't completely over yet? They're still a couple of games left but what letter grade. In your opinion Lindsay does cuyler. Murray currently have sure I mean I think I'll give him a B although I think I'm going to be an easy greater here because because the cardinals were really bad team I think he came into a really difficult situation. I think the expectations were pretty high for him. Given the challenges that he was going to have and the entire organization was GONNA have. But I think he's done pretty well and I think it's been successful. He's not GonNa win the offensive rookie of the year award. The cardinals aren't going to make the playoffs. There still still is far away from the best teams in the NFC west as they were a year ago. Bud We've seen that he can play and that there's only cardinals aren't GonNa have a question about who. Their quarterback quarterback is for the indefinite future. Because of the things that we've seen out of Kylie Marine has rookie year. We'll Lindsey thanks so much for joining us. It's always a pleasure. Thank you guys so much. For having me you can read Lindsay Jones story about cuyler Murray's incredible high school career at the Athletic Dot Com. Here's some other stories. We're following at the lead the Jacksonville Jaguars have fired executive vice president of football operations. Tom Coughlin just two days as after a scathing report from the NFL Players Association warned players to think carefully about signing with the team. The Union noted in its report that more than twenty ninety five percent of all grievances filed by players in the League were filed against the Jaguars which may have prompted Coughlin's fire. The Oklahoma sooners path to a national title. Which has already challenging? Just got a lot tougher. The team's best pass rusher Ronnie Perkins and two other players were suspended for the December number. Twenty Eighth Peach Bowl game against top-ranked Lsu for failing drug tests and some sad news to report. Herman Boone. The iconic coach was portrayed or trade by Denzel Washington and remember. "Without any further ado please welcome onstage on stage. Gordon Murray and Solomon the House Gordon. Thank you so much longer introduction than normal thank you very. Thanks for joining us at all I am. I wanted to talk briefly by modern Formula One many years ago came. See what you would do if you're in charge and you. There's this amazing. The line drawing which will made total sense. What are your thoughts and these new regulations coming in twenty twenty one? I don't go anywhere near far enough. I think the politics these days informative gets in the way generally what I did with you. I mean how many years ago was that that we think three. I think it was longer than more. Yes Broccoli it's still probably up on the Internet it's so easy to fix natural normal overtaking unfolding along and so easy to reduce costs and get the emphasis back on a drivers championship championship. And everything I said then I look at it again today. Actually I think everything is still true. the one thing they're doing which goes a little little bit towards What I suggested is putting the downfalls back in the middle of the motorcar? The moment was a huge front wings and rear wings. The reason why one of the main reason economy takers you following a car onto the corner onto the straight and you lose the balance of the car and therefore you drop back and you stopped at a disadvantage and therefore you need stupid things like artificial things like drag reduction to catch up again whereas if you if you don't lose the balance of the car's downforce maybe in the middle of the car and not concentrated on both ends you lose overall downforce but you keep the balance and you can come out right behind onto Commun- that's one of the main points and that one I think they are doing a little bit to reduce downforce and giving design is back in the middle but but all all the other stuff that I wrote is much more about making it a spectator sport again and and making it a dry driver's championship. I mean the drive is at the moment they get it and instead you know the team decide they decide where the gay changes before they leave the factory. Really Yeah they sit in a simulator and pick all the get change points. That's holding ties going off. The engine mapping needs to be changed or even uh-huh if you talked to any of the engineers who are working in formerly presently they say that yes. The rules are prescriptive in terms of the air and stuff but it beneath the surface. There are all these little things you can do. And they they think that's fascinating. You're an engineer looking from the outside. I mean when when you a former career was at its peak. I mean you could see the different solutions. Great Fan on the back of the four wheels on the front of the You could say these sliding skirts. You can see these things I mean. Are you fascinated by what they're absolutely not it. It's actually I mean from my point of view. It's cobblers to be honest. But from their point of view you can see that point because the youngsters have only known modern Formula One mm-hmm so they think spending two hundred and thirty days in the wind tunnel and changing Benetton for example of Benetton. Red Bull. Make a million different parts a year and a lot of them never get used but they're all tiny little aerodynamic adjustment so the youngsters who didn't let through what we lived through in the sixties seventies eighties Think that's exciting changing. Finding I mean these days if they find a tenth of a second second public holiday in the seventies you could have an David. The bath draws something that night make the bit the next day put it on the Congo second that quick and it was visible as to take your point because the causeway visually quite different the regulations today actually place all the major masses masses for you as a designer so the fuel the driver the engine transmission the pedal line relative to the front axle is all regulated. So the cars actually have to look the same if you think about it so I mean even even a even a sort of season. Petro ahead like me if you can all the modern cars have you painted them all white coat with them up. Put you in a room and with the cover of gravy thirty seconds to name them all. You probably couldn't. What was the most successful Formula One car designed in the bath? That was probably the Sankar. Actually because that literally was lightbulb moment I used to read the regulations like in the bath. I went to sleep reading the regulator looking for loopholes. We'll talk by the fine car on a bit. You mentioned Red Bull Command. So is sort of singing. The praises of Adrian Newey who who stands out to you the moment as of one kind of design engineers is. They're all the people in the paddock. You know that's a that's an almost impossible question to answer. I'll tell you why. Because in nine from nineteen seventy Z.. three to seventy seven. I knew I was chief designer. Because if you turn around and the Prefab drawing office if there's nobody else in the office they now have the technical team six hundred people and I have no idea how you manage six hundred people to design uninformed one car first of all. I don't know what they do but I mean how it must be really difficult for somebody like Adrian to think of themselves as chief designer. Because you can't possibly manage all those people are remember when you're dealing with SADIE SPENCE AN AL team and grew Dave McLaren F one row. We had seven people in design team and that grew to thirty five people when we did the Acela for Mercedes and I went over there and I was speaking to technical director Dr Shop and he said they had eleven thousand engineers and I said to him. How do you manage manage eleven thousand engineers and he said you don't it how six hundred designers I don't know so it's must be really difficult for people? I mean Adrian's already good friend and I've my him tremendously for his achievements. It must be very difficult to feel like you own the car you know I mean I I very quickly from seventy seven. I doubled level design team because on. Hi David North so And then I felt like I was still in charge because I had one other guys manage punished for the next five years But six hundred people. Wow I wouldn't even know you know I mean even the current supercar not fifty. We've only got twenty people. It's amazing. Yeah it's fall cry from Formula One but you really became the UK because you wrote to Colin Chapman. Yeah you got a job and he gave you one yet. What do you mean interview right? Actually it's all in the book now. Champion was my hero absolutely in my hair Bob Dylan and Chapman growing up as a teenager and I just just admired his approach. Good enough racing. I was twenty one or twenty two or something I was looking for a job in Roku company arrived and went for my into Brian. Luff hadn't contacted Lotus for six months and apart from the fact that found in quite cool after Durban in South Africa and arrived in a short sleeve shirt and jacket and it was snowing. And I I arrived at Hassle for an interview and Brian said you know. Haven't you read the papers. The last month's getting through mini recession. Ready Hill climbs a speedway racing that sort of stuff So so local racing always right in from from five years old. I can remember going to motor races but international racing was a little different because everything was delayed. uh-huh everything was e mail in those days you know. Nothing came on airplanes However I did start going to the international title races out there? My first international race was East London Grand Prix in Nineteen fifty-nine while hitchhiked four hundred miles us as a thirteen year old down to see the race in east London And then of course after that they had the sunshine series where the Sports College. "So good luck to him in his future endeavors Next up is Kennedy Corey He will undergo season ending. Elbow Surgery. So NISHIKORI has been dealing with this issue sense ruling garrison. May they tried to use? You know nonsurgical methods just rehabilitation rest The therapy methods to heal the elbow issue. Hoping wouldn't require surgery unfortunately They did this over the course of a number of months only for them to realize at this point that it just was not possible to continue to do what they're doing and have good results certainly not the results that they're looking for so if they want to go into next year with the Possibility of winning a Grand Slam especially say Australia. He has to get the surgery. Now to give him time to recover rehabilitate and get ready for the season. So good luck to Keeney. Corey and last thing is rapper. Doll is now off the market. Sorry ladies if you're listening But he has married his longtime fiancee and You know he's the last of the big I guess what Big Three To get married Obviously Roger Married for years. So his Andy and now. Rafa is married to swelled. So congratulations to him is we've heard of the W. T. side and let's see here. Alina Ostapenko defeated Julia. Girga six four six one to win the Luxembourg open. It's a first title since two thousand Seventeen A BIG A big deal. Frosty Pinko You know to go two years without winning title over two years Is quite dry spell. I mean she's young. She's twenty one. I believe so. You know this is somebody who still has a long career ahead of her with you. Know plenty of opportunities to win more titles. Two years is a long time now A lot of people think that when I say that she hasn't won a title in a couple of years since two thousand seventeen that that means that it was the French Open. And that's not really the case And she won the French Open of course That was the first title of her career. industry the biggest titled. Pro Career But the she won the Korean open At the timber. That was A big deal for her. Obviously 'cause decade or two titles for the year and one outside of the French Open but it's been over two years now and then she. She was a finalist last week. And she won the title this week so good for her But it's a big deal. It's not the same as winning your first title and look winning your first titled Career. Being Roland Garros a Grand Slam. That's just how do you top it? You can't raise I mean it's You can only maybe match it by winning. Another Grand Slam title but That's that's huge that being said It's a big dry spell in winning. This is kind of similar to you. Know winning Prefers title A lot of ways because it's been so long for her and she's had opportunities she's had chances But she's been unable to to win one cents. You know since two thousand seventeen so good for her next up. Blend benches defeats anesthesia. Pledge I always mess up this this this name. Try saying it's slower slower. Honesty's you Pablo Chink of a three six. Six one six one to win the Moscow open Bench has had a fantastic year. She has been maybe the Comeback Player of the year. Let's face it huge for her. I mean she's been healthy almost the entire season if thought the entire season. She's made multiple deep runs. It's a huge win for her To win the Moscow open Really get a title solid title like this towards the back into the season You know hopefully this will set her up nicely for twenty twenty and the beginning of the year and finally cook off in Katie McNally defeated Kaitlyn Christian and Alexa Guru Archie. Six two six two to win the Luxembourg open doubles title We don't usually talk about doubles too much on here. We tried to in the past and I and I guess I probably could now but I just made it difficult. Because you're trying. Felker was spreading ourselves. Really thin trying to do you know. Dp. There's not a and then tacking on the doubles But I wanted to mention this because you know again. It's another title for Coca Gov this one doubles title And this is the second title for cocoa and Katie for the year. It's just a great accomplishment. So good Good for them. And congratulations and really congratulations to everybody on the ATP in the WTO did win in all of these tournaments. So right so I want to talk about for the topic of the week. This is set to so moving on here I WanNa talk about tempering expectations and I WANNA talk about both Andy Murray and Coca Goff in this segment I'm talking about them about temporary expectations for vastly different reasons. Okay so I up with Andy Andy. One huge title right. There's no doubt that if you're an Indie Murray fan or you're simply rooting for him to have the kind of success that he used to have that you're going to see this win right as a big deal and it is a big deal. It is a big deal but I was reading articles People claiming Anne Marie as totally and fully back. He's completed his comeback and I I saw some comments on twitter and other places online That are kind of tennis. Centric people claiming that Andy is GonNa win grant some titles in two thousand eighteen or twenty twenty mean and really kind of jumping ahead think lot further than they should be look is great as this win was for him in. It was a great win. I'm not taking anything away from his victory. Here let's be honest. This is a stepping-stone folks. It's a steppingstone right. This is not the end and his Andy said That he certainly more optimistic. That's what he said. I'm certainly more optimistic now. And you know it's For somebody this one is many titles. He's won in his career. You'd you wouldn't think that athletes that have won as much as they have would continue to need to be shown that they're capable of winning these titles but Andy's been injured for such a long time in you know it's the beginning of the year he was he was looking at retiring. I watched him in his match. The end of the match. I watched the entire match against Roberto Batista Goud at the Australian Open after the matches over. I watched that video of all those players saying all those really nice things about Andy and wishing him lock in. Because you know one thought he's going to retire. He thought he was going to retire. He thought this is it folks. Maybe maybe he was GonNa make a last appearance. At Wimbledon later later you know well earlier this year but for him it was later in the year and So it looked like he was done. And then you've got that surgery and the results were great and in here we are. This is a big deal for him. It's a big deal. Not just because he has another title because it proved something to him. He's capable of winning titles but again. We have to temporary expectations as fans. If you if you're a fan of Indie you need to acknowledge the fact. That is big of a win. This was for him when he's when he's in a masters one thousand tournament when he's in a grand slam is going to be a different level competition. Yes he faced. You know some solid players In yes he faced a very game Stan Wawrinka who also you know fighting back and getting back to his winning ways so again. I'm not taking anything away from the victories and titled But it's stepping stone and that's what I'm here to say it's a stepping stone. You know. Maybe he's able to win another title before the years out and prove something else himself or just add a little more than other brick to the wall but if he's looking to win you know bigger titles in this. He's going to have to continue to prove to himself. Each and every week every tournament he enters if he enters the five hundred tournament. He's going to have to prove he can win it. If he enters a masters one thousand at a never thing he has to prove to himself that he's able to win at that level because as you get to each you know masters you know five hundred fifty to five hundred thousand. Generally there are some exceptions. But generally you know you go up in the quality of your opponents Across the net masters one thousand. And you're facing the best of the best and when you get to the Grand Slams again you're facing the best of the best. This is just the first step in Andy's comeback so FM just saying take step back. Be a really really happy for him. Really be happy for him but take a deep breath and say baby steps. This is step one all right. Andy won a doubles title. At Eastbourne Out Charlie Eastern Queens Club earlier this year with Lopez. That was huge. This is his first singles title huge. Keep adding on. And that's that's what we need to do as fans we need to take a step back and realize bit. Andy is back in that we can. We've seen the he can compete. But it's GonNa be a lot different. When he's facing Novak Djokovic or in a doll federer or Medvedev or Karen hatching off or any number of the young up and coming players or the old guard. Who's been winning for ever? It's it's GonNa be tougher. It's going to be hard but it's going to be a process and if any goes out there and loses early in a few tournaments or does win that big title in the first few months of the season. It doesn't mean they can't it just means it's a process as in any sport but definitely in. Tennis. It's a process and we need to do the same thing when it comes to coca. Goff Coco is fifteen years old. Last week she wanNA title big big deal. She won a doubles title. It Luxembourg with Kevin McNally. She lost early in Luxembourg. I believe it was her first match and she lost and again. You know we're seeing you know. She's she's getting all of this Attention and it's great. It really is but at the same time. All that attention is start to create expectations that players are simply unable to meet..

"Swift? Doesn't Mason was your favorite place to play. Very likable done. A nice cosigned Tina form. But you got your rhythm going down. Maker MS leave. As he CJ McCollum out running pulls up his tastes chin blows past Paul George for the motor first team defense type player like and high off the glass. I'm anyone press with the runner high off the glass in the hesitant, man. It is I'm gonna say I'm having so much fun watching this series in both directions. But especially watching Dame and CJ kinda show off with twenty eight points in this series. It's funny. He said when I was up there talking to because we're in Oregon, no one sees on TV, people are watching DJ read. Now, MS caution staying for Louis fall rescues individuals to save it who's Gary Payton does not flinch Kobe Bryant met barn style. Well, it wasn't exactly he was going at him. Gotta go with Dane. Yeah. The Murray shot was in a vital portion of a must-win game. So I gotta go with Murray. No offence while it was it was like the kaffir. "If I pull him truly believe in me does he have my back. So I had to stay with Jamal maker miss because he's our guy and I care about him. And he came through in a big way. But never wants to think about pulling from the lineup. Very nice. And this time it paid off early in the fourth quarter Murray miss. We'll pull up jumper that opened the floodgates. You got news. Layup, right? We'll step back common. There. We go. Shoot. Finally, had the lead just to be sure. Then over Darren white crowd going nuts. Most teammates going nuts. But Murray was done. He would go on to hit another three in transition. Honestly, the man was so on fire that went in the press conference afterward. He warned NBA jam t shirt with his own picture on it almost understated. So the Murray just saved the nuggets season. We don't know yet. This series is now tied at one one moving to San Antonio where the Spurs had ridiculous thirty two and nine home records here. But I do know this no one is more devastated by a rough start than joe-marie who's already had his share. And no one is more determined to fight their way out of it either. We will now see if the nuggets can follow his lead. So t- Mak did that explosion. You saw in the fourth quarter. You just said it only takes one, right? And then opens the floodgates that change your view of what the nuggets can do in the series. Actually, I'm not encouraged. No because yet again in game two when you you get beat in the first game, right? You have home could have been. So you get beat homecourt advantage on the scene you come back game two and try to make some judgments those adjustments really didn't work. They were down nineteen in his game. Sending Tonio just really lost themselves on the defensive in and gay about thirty eight points thirty nine points in the fourth quarter. And it took a Geraldo effort by God that was struggling for the first you know, game and three quarters to go crazy in the fourth quarter twenty one twenty four points. I'm still I'm not encouraged going back to San Antonio won one. You haven't won in setting Tonio since twenty twelve. That's crazy one in San Antonio since twenty twelve and you think they're going to go in there. Now, I don't think so I think this is really in trouble. Well, boy, Denver when they get going. They look so good their offense a firepower so impressive. Gary Harris had a really good game in this one. It did take maybe the hottest guy. We're going to see. Stretch the whole postseason. Maybe I my mouth, but how awesome that was? And it wasn't settled. I mean wasn't settled until he did that. Okay. Have you heard of Steph curry, I still believe we will see a quarter from Steph sometimes in these playoffs. But. Yeah. Was awesome in that moment. I actually wondered because he had Yokich out of the game. Also during the oh, Oh, I I know. wonder if he's going back to yoga cheap did. But only when got a foul trouble. I respect everything. Mike said that made me think Tracy was that even though the number two, you can even feel with with what Mike said there that it's such a learning experience, whereas the Spurs this is not there. I it is. I mean, and I give Malone in a Denver Nuggets. A lot of credit had these guys wanted to most more improved teams coming into the beginning season. I didn't see second seat so kudos. But when I look at the playoff matchups, they're not a number two seat to me. They're not as strong as a number to see to me in the Western Conference is a bad match for them. San Antonio to me is a better team better will coach team. And I think we're gonna see I don't even know if this upset because this team is a number two seat..

Like, they want you think that of course, they want to be in the playoffs. Lebron with like. I think when we had his moment he wrote off into that sunset and that sunset includes wine and a doll. That one going lovely rose ahistorical fiftee straight years LeBron and you wanna I seventeenth three year. He said, it's interesting. I I was curious LeBron whether he's gonna watch the playoffs and he told me when we were chatting last couple weeks of the season he did plan to walk. So he's a fan. We'll see we'll see it's going to be hard to watch and not being and welcome to the jump. I'm Rachel Nichols alongside New York Times bestselling author Brian Windhorst new book is on the shelves right now. Go by just saying, oh, look it's two times Corey champion hall of Famer, Tracy McGrady. Thank you, very happy with our crew coming up, Damian Lillard, and Russell Westbrook. Fulco chippy last night. We're gonna talk about who you would rather build a team around the answer may not be what you assume. But first back when Jamal worry was rookie. He started his NBA career by missing his first seventeen shots in a row. I can't really quite imagine. What that feels like to know you are in the top one percent of humans on earth at putting a round ball to a round hoop and yet suddenly. You just can't for some reason. It was particularly devastating for Murray who'd been training for that moment since he was literally a baby seriously. You can go back and read the excellent story ESPN's Jack McMullen wrote on Murray earlier this year where she details. How Murray's father raised Jamal in an almost army like environment designed to create the perfect player at seven years old Jamal had to hit thirty free throws in a row before he could stop practicing for the day when it got cold and Murray's native Ontario journals dad would have him practice dribbling on ice to improve his balance in the Mary house. If that ball, go through the nets you were running some hills sometimes backward. So it's surprise that. Until Murray worked himself out of that rough start he had his rookie. He felt like the walls were caving in. Now, let's force forward to now Jamal third year in the NBA. He was a huge part of the nuggets sweetheart season and was certainly expected to help push Denver pass the Spurs in the opening round of these playoffs except in game one he shot just thirty three percent. From the field missed all six of his three point attempts and also missed that potential. Go ahead shot with ten seconds to play in that game and game too. Well, yeah. See those bricks his first three-quarters about as ugly as you can get he was a minus eighteen in his twenty four first minutes shooting for eight just to assist. Here's coach Mike Malone on what he told them all at halftime. He was so frustrated at halftime and not making shots shots at his made his whole career..

Study habits not good the board work below night. Good night good at all on any of those areas. And raising major concerns about what this guy's gonna do. Now people will say, well, we're going to compare them to Mahomes, we're going to run an offense like well homes. We're going to run an offense like Baker Mayfield. It is possible. But those guys are much different. I mean, those guys you'd never questioned about their ability on the board. You're never questioned their leadership ability their work habits. They were outstanding in those areas. This guy's not outstanding in those areas. It showed up in the interview. That is absolutely positively unbelievable. Absolutely, positively unbelievable. Lazy and think about what we're talking about here. The Oklahoma Sooners led by column Murray. Moore's two games this year. They were twelve or two. They lost one game to Texas on October six forty eight forty five. And then they lost in a national championship. College football playoff national champion semifinals to Alabama forty five to thirty four. Kyla Murray is the quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners. Laser gentlemen. The lowest amount of points. His team scored was twenty eight against army. Or September twenty second in the fourteen games. This offense was led by column. "Yeah. Hello. The name of the show is highly questionable. Because we ask a lot of questions. And because he's always high is he what do you like on the show today? If Mike McCarthy spent his year off filming a reality show. Would you watch it because I would know valid puppy. Hi should color Murray in the NFL draft. I don't believe that I'm qualified to answer this question. I am not the person to ask this. And not just because I thought David Carr was the greatest college quarterback I've ever seen. I'm having more difficulty measuring the value of prospects at this position than I've ever had because of the changing rules because Baker Mayfield goes somehow for walking on in college to the number one overall pick, and they seem to have hit on it. I don't know that I could do this. I do know that this guy feels a little bit like a smaller, Patrick Mahomes with less arm strength. I'm not sure that's a positive David Garay. Yes, David car. They gave you a TV show. I'm sure look I don't know how to assess Kyle Mary, but there are these rumors all of a sudden that even the cardinals would consider drafting a number one overall. And it's kind of interesting that clip Kingsbury is going to be there next coach, and he has said in the past he would draft that dude Cuyler Mary number one overall. That in itself and here, I am avoiding the question. Just like Dan is that in itself is crazy fascinating to me because not only the disorganization show a lack of patience with their head coach firing him after one year. But if they go ahead and draft Cuyler Murray and trade Josh Rosen. Then you're looking at the picture of impatience in an organization, and you're hanging handed Kingsbury all the keys right there. Because you're giving him the quarterback that he wanted. I'm with Danny looked a little small against Alabama. Didn't look like he could just navigate the pocket, especially well, I guess NFL type town that would be a risky go for me. Boy did for him. You know for the Heisman? How about you? I voted for him as well. Yeah. This or two each. I don't have. We shouldn't you discussing this with the three of us. It should just be the two Heisman voters. Has had. I'm geese earned the opportunity to head coach again. It's not Kice Adam gays. His record was sub sub-standard with the Miami Dolphins. But the reason he's been hired for this position. I don't wanna do earn the opportunity doesn't make sense. And of course, it does from this perspective. Not just because at some point this season. You're going to have the jets and the dolphins probably trying to steal the bills coach while the patriots laugh at them because they're doing shell game in the division. This guy has made every quarterback that he's had be the best version of himself. Jay Cutler, Tim Tibo. Ryan Channa hills numbers when he was healthy this guy can help quarterbacks. And that's what the jets want more than anything else when Adam gates made the playoffs in his first season as the dolphins head coach he probably felt more quickly than anybody in that building in that facility to make decisions for that team because that franchise has been a mess for a decade. Plus the next two years riddled with injuries six and ten seventy nine but at the beginning of last year when they were going three zero and Albert Wilson, keen grit were running all over the place. You thought to yourself? Self man that offense does look pretty good. If you give them a couple of pieces, so find the jets, and I'm looking at who has more credibility the dolphins who fired him or Adam gates who made something out of nothing in Miami. I'm gonna go ahead and say, Adam gates is my guy and man the future of Sam darnold seems so much brighter than the future of Ryan tannehill ever did. So I'm with the jets here making this election. It just makes the dolphins. Look even worse. Hey jets fan. Get ready for your.

"A father sports albahm joe murray whip used for just another a couple of minutes here get the beatles taken over for patriots pregame preseason game number two between the patriots and the houston texans amy hughes thin by the way we're the patriots became fivetime super bowl champion and twotime to this place in that state lydia so not returned to the place where they were they wanted all given just a couple things as we get out of here but first matt mcgarvy chris sale on the mound tonight behind the play sandy stand to leone now member would vazquez of the home run to win the game couple of weeks ago i thought sale pitched terrible but the reason for that i thought was because of course should redskins argues leon was battling that injury about wild slide after they wanna games couple of weeks ago blood chris sale with civil leone behind the plate two point one five era yeah in a hundred in sixty three innings it's amazing how you know some of these pitchers they just they get walked into a certain catcher so that that's what we do the red sox have going tonight will in particular who have sale because he never shakes the catcher off yep so i how much of that can you really put on basque as if it's if it's not like you know these guys are butting heads all game and vasquez keeps putting down fastballs in situations where a sale once the slider that doesn't really make sense to be so i'm not really going to look into those stats but i mean there's no doubt that he is more comfortable with william what little with vesco's five in the third inning things thirteen point five o yara so small sample size jail will small sample size i think uh chris sale pitches better when centre leone is behind the play and not christian values would agree grow bold bull will leave it at that but does.
