Boston's traffic problems continuing traffic post, but I do want to follow up. We talked last night about the problem with illegal immigration and the interference that the state of Washington has imposed on ice in preventing aircraft associated with ice to ferry out people who've committed serious crimes. And we often talk about that, generally, but this a couple of stories here, which came across the desk today. This is incredible. This is on the new York Daily News federal immigration officials lashed out at a thorn in a county in Oregon, and local, sanctuary laws Thursday, after a man residing here illegally was set free upon serving days, sixty days for raping a dog to death. Fidel Lopez convicted on April eighth of sexually assaulting his fiancee's. Lhasa Apso mix. So forcefully the dog had to be euthanized. He received a sixty day sentence, but was released immediately because he had already served that amount of time awaiting trial on the February offense, but I said the county should have notified the agency at least forty hours before we'll peice was let go so we could apprehend him on April eighth. He's convicted of assault and the representatives of this county. Multnomah county, Oregon did not own the immigration detainers released him without noticed ice. He was picked up at his home on Thursday and has been served notice to appear. He'll be taken to a detention center in Tacoma, and hopefully he will be deported at the same time, also it Oklahoma in March of two thousand eighteen ice officials put a hold on a Martin, Gallo Galardo, who had been charged with felony foot the rea- salt in an alleged attack on his wife, the Oregonian reported in November, the same county jail. "Carolina. Hi, Jim, you're on ground zero. Hey. Can you give up your speaker for me? Not only speaker phone while you're echoing so okay, go right ahead. Jim. Nineteen two. Three. Great. Hit the open cough. I just don't know vaccines and started coughing for about a year. With the open. Call apparel, a one degree temperature the whole time and since I have. Immaculate system. I don't know that's related or not. Well, like was said earlier with Ashley said, sometimes when we get these diseases that most people are vaccinating themselves for we get immune systems that are stronger of measles, maybe a disease that can be contracted the destroys cancer cells or the perhaps after you had this, you know, situation that you had a better immune system over this. So, you know, I think we need to take more time to investigate why these diseases exists in what they do to the body and how they may help the body and what we can do to perhaps somehow make people comfortable with what they have or even cure. These things have been needed cure them vaccines. Don't cure. They just basically there are prevention there like a wall, they're building a wall. And you realize, you know, later on in life, you may not be able to fight off these diseases. And so again, you have to go back in another shot get another, you know, immunoglobin. Show. Six months ago when? On the floor. And they don't give you pretentious. Good idea. At all. So. Ended up giving it one of the one of the tricks that they do is something called persuasion. There's a whole list I had to find the list of what the CDC in the World Health Organization. What they've decided are the ways to convince people to get these vaccines when they don't necessarily need them. I need they have tactics that they're using now to get people to just do it. And of course, one of the biggest ones is actually said, it's fear, of course, using fear as a great tactic from the very beginning scare people into thinking that they're going to die. If they don't get this vaccine. Of course, you know. People talk about deaths by the measles. And while they're rare you can die from the measles even die from practically anything any disease. You get really, but you know, just to use it as the as the bargaining chip from the beginning saying get this guy. I don't know how many times I've had the flu never died and quite frankly. You know, as I get older. I may have some concerns I may say to myself, well, maybe advantageous get shot like this. But my immune system's fine. I've had three cancers I'm doing fine. And and I went to the doctor when they did that examination me trying to see what was going on with me. And they said, you know, you have a very healthy heart for a guy who's big. And I said, you know, what that's a cue from me to go back and try to lose the Warwick I've already lost one hundred forty I'm gonna go back for another hundred forty and that'll be good. All right. Thank you. Thank you, Jim. Yeah. I mean, it's a it's a motivation. I believe a you know, when you go into the doctor and you're feeling crappy. And they're trying to evaluate you know, what's going on with you. And I still have a little bit of a raspy throat on of you hear it. But it was raspy. It wasn't enough for me to get a cough or a hacking cough. I mean started a a hack went away in a day. But what remained was this this rawness in the throat? What remained is this this achey nece? Okay. And it's been a week now. And I'm still a little raspy the eighteen is kind of they're not really. But I'm feeling good enough in great enough to be motivated do certain things. But before I was just like completely off the rails. I was completely feeling like something was dragging me down. And you know, when you hear about stuff like this. You think to yourself I exposed to the measles when I was at the kiss concert because that's where the measles broke out. Was that auditorium that arena? And I'm sure they went in and they. Did whatever they had to do to clean up the place to keep you know, whatever it is. It's there at bay and get rid of it. But still, you know, you never know and just the idea of a patient zero going to a game and infecting about your people, and then having it break out all over Washington and all over Multnomah county, Clark county Multnomah county, I shake my head and go man this happened fast. We have like what fifty three now that have been diagnosed and a war now in Washington about whether or not they should force inoculations. You know, this is something that once again. "Bernie Giusto joins me now retired Multnomah county sheriff and the guy we turn to for know point of view on law enforcement burning ahead to beat up on one of your fellow cops today on the air verbally, of course. It's not a punishable crime. I think anymore, but I had to really go to town on him because he doesn't seem to know the law, and he doesn't seem to tell the truth. How are you? Good. Thanks. So what was the issue? Well, it was the chief of police at PSU who was apparently only been on the job since December. And he called as my producer. We're doing a broadcast PSU for conservative group because its second amendment week. And guess guess what for the most part is not on the PSU campus during second amendment week firearms, unless they're in the hands of the police, and I've defended the PSU cops because I thought there shooting Mr. Washington was legally well-founded he tried to pick up a gun. They told him not to any and he got shot. I'm sorry about his death for his family. But he was doing one thing you do not do, you know, put yourself in the position of being a threat because the police are there to stop you from becoming a threat to them or anyone else. So he had called my producers says any better going to be carrying a gun. And he asked me that because I got on the phone on the call. And and I said chief will be following the law, and then I complained to him. I said, by the way, you've called us asking us questions. Tell me why you're asking he would not tell me, and I. He just gave me the same question. Again. I said why answered your question. But chief why are you asking why are you enquiring, and he just wouldn't answer? And so I said, well, you know, this figures because when I called the PSU campus Copsey for the very rarely return. Our calls calls or give us any information. He said, well, that's never happened with me. And that's never going to happen with me. But I've only been on the job since December. And I said, well, all of our instances where before that. And I said, so you'll be answering questions he said. Yeah. And I said, okay. Let me ask you a question. What is the official policy toward non student non employees at PSU carrying legal line legally on campus had said he said, I'm going to have to have you call our general counsel. I started laughing, and I said chief you just finished promising to answer any questions we ever want to ask. And I ask you one that's in your bailiwick, and you immediately call call you tell me call my lawyer. And so I I kind of had I had a few words about that. And and I look forward to meeting the chief someday in personnel. Probably see him on. The twenty fourth when we're doing that broadcast from the PSU campus. I have a feeling they're gonna stop by. The interesting thing about the discussion relative.

"Welcome back to the daily dive weekend edition. My favorite story of the week has to be this woman out of Oregon named Nancy Crampton Brophy she unfortunately, murdered her husband. But what made it catch national? Attention was that she was a romance novelist, and she had all sorts of novels named like the wrong husband the wrong cop. And it was all these struggles at the women had with their current husbands and getting away from them and finding new lovers. And then we found out that she penned an essay called how to murder your husband in which she talked about all sorts of motives different weapons that she could use. And she has a bunch of funny little tag lines. Like, you know, she's saying after all it's the murder supposed to set me free. I certainly don't want to spend any time in jail, and she talks about how she understood how a murder occur, and how police reaction would be. Well, now, she's at the center of this whole thing. The story broke in Oregon. We spoke to Shane Dixon Cavanaugh. He's a reporter for the Oregonian. They helped break this story and we start right from the beginning with the murder of Nancy Crampton. Brophy's husband, a great place to start is if we go back to early June when we first learned about Daniel Brophy's murder because killing like that just doesn't happen. Very often in Portland, Oregon here you have a a loving instructor at the Oregon culinary institute near downtown Portland found shot multiple times in the kitchen at the school. He soon dies after he is found and people at the school. But his peers were colleagues and the students were completely devastated thrown for a loop there candlelight vigils after his death that were held stories shared tears show. And he was well liked as you said hundreds of people turn out to this. Candlelight vigil forum, including his wife, Nancy who spoke very briefly at the digital as well. But police after. We sort of reported on the initial incidents. We didn't really hear much from police afterwards in here in the newsroom scratching their heads for a long time. Wondering what the heck could have happened in a murder story. We wanna turn to motives, and there just wasn't really a clear one. It didn't appear that he was being robbed or anything like that inside the school. We didn't cheer or anything else from police afterwards. Until literally last week when Portland police dropped a press release at around nine thirty pm on a Wednesday night saying that they had arrested charged his wife with murder. The judge. It's an unusual step of day sealed the probable cause affidavit in this case at the request of prosecutors. What are you hearing? That's the reason behind that. We're not hearing much of anything which just leads us to assume or speculate things or use our best educated guesses generally in a situation like this. We would take a step back and wonder whether or not there might be another person who is tied or connected to this case that's one possibility for why they would have sealed that PC affidavit another reason could simply be and I'm not suggesting this at all. But it could be possible that police had really finish their investigation completely or at locked it down totally and they needed to make an arrest because they suspected that their primary suspect in this case, Nancy Crampton Brophy's might have been planning to get out of town or something like that. And so they needed to act quickly and try to get her behind. Bars if they feared that she might try to or something puts it again. I just wanna be clear, we're not suggesting that's the case. But that could be a possibility. Let's talk a little bit more about Nancy Crampton Brophy, some neighbors that knew the couple even said that it was a little she was acting weird as you said, she attended the candlelight vigil. She posted some stuff on Facebook, saying don't contact me. I need a process this whole thing. But a neighbor even said that she didn't show any signs of being upset or sad. And it struck him as very odd. Yeah. You know, that was a neighbor. We spoke to the day after her arrest was announced. Hindsight always see sort of twenty twenty in these cases, right? Neighbors recollection might change. All of a sudden when they find out that their neighbor is suspected of murdering their spouse having said that you know, the neighbor we did talk to just said that Nancy was acting dairy strange after her husband's death in his words. She just wasn't that stays by the whole thing. And also. Just seemed she wasn't particularly bothered by and was also talking about wanting to get out of the house and revenge neighborhood having said that I'd also just add that you'd have been neighbors that we did speak to also said that none of them knew the Brophy's that. Well, let's talk about the big twist and all of this that she was a romance, novelist. She had a bunch of books called like the wrong husband or the wrong cop and things like that. They were all about women escaping their their lives and escaping their husbands and falling in love with other people. And she also had this essay that was called how to murder your husband. This was written. I think in two thousand eleven or so it was written many many years ago, but she talks about different motives that one might have and different tools that you could use to murder your husband. Correct. It always interesting again when the press release with Nancy Brophy's arrest, I one Al last Wednesday night, we knew early on just by doing. Sort of your general fact, checking that she was a writer, but it wasn't until Thursday morning. When I got off this started looking into it a little bit more that I discovered that Nancy Brophy was in fact, a romance mystery writer where these types of crazy merger plights in. Sometimes the murdering of the spouse plays a central role in these types of stories. So that was quite surprising and somewhat fascinating to learn. And then I actually was tipped off by somebody that miss Brophy in two thousand and eleven published this essay that was it essay that was published for other sort of romance. And mystery writers getting into the details or getting admitted some of the best way to them. Murderer of one's husband in such books. Right. As she says, I spent a lot of time thinking about murder and consequently about police procedure, and so that's why she went on to write some stuff. Funny things she says let me clearly say for the record. I don't like jumpsuits and orange isn't my color and she locked out. She was in a blue jumpsuit when she went into court. Yeah. Multnomah county, which is Portland's located. We don't have orange jumpsuits. When you're jailed and booked one of the other funny things is some of the comments that were left on that essay. I don't know who these people are whatever. But someone says, you know, really who hasn't had the stray thought about murdering spouse or lover someone said, I'd always thought I'd be a knife girl. I love how your mind works. And this goes into what she was writing. There's says there's a lot of motives financial lying. Cheating husbands. They fell in love with someone else. And then she goes into options to consider your guns your knives. What kind of strings are you strength strong enough to strangle the person who's just so weird all these things and how they connect to what ended up happening in her own life. The sentence that really jumped out at me in Nancy's twenty eleven essay on how to murder your husband. And was disliking. But the thing I know about murder is that every one of us have in him her when pushed far. That's the type of thing maybe make some people pause and rice speaking for personal experience. Don't know if I have that in me undoubtedly prosecutors are looking into her pass writings who knows if they're using these as possible motives are not until they finally released the affidavit what they think the motives were. But all this stuff just adds to the bazaar. The oddity of what this story really is the romance novelist who wrote about these issues, then killing her husband who was a beloved member of the community. It seemed like I want to just stop you right there and say is accused of murdering her husband innocent until proven guilty. I'm sure there's going to be a lot more twists and turns until they all figure it out. I'm hoping. All right. Shane dixon. Cavenaugh reporter for the Oregon. Thank you very much for joining us. Thanks so much again to have Nick, man. It's such a crazy story. I'm going to bring my producer Miranda in for the rest of this conversation. Thanks for joining us Miranda. Hey, let's get a little bit more into the essay. She wrote how to murder your husband. We mentioned all the motives earlier in the interview with Shane let's go little more in depth into those. What were these motives I read Nancy is like primer or how to murder your husband? And this does re to me as a writing exercise because I'm laughing during this whole thing. She's pretty funny. This whole story makes you want to go out and buy whatever. But right, but she says in the opening paragraph. If murderer supposed to set me free. I certainly don't want to spend any time in jail, which is hysterical. She's thought about it a lot as a writer of these types of stories. She's got a little flow chart, basically of what she considers to be the top five motives for murdering her husband and the first one is financial that's pretty self explanatory. But she there's a line in here. She says the drawback our police aren't stupid, and especially if you married for money, aren't you entitled to all of it because you have to be. The organized ruthless and very clear and from the interview with Shane when they spoke to neighbors. She literally told a neighbor I'm one of the suspects, and that pinged in the neighbors ear as kind of odd the second motivation is lying or cheating, and those are also crimes of passion. And she sang typically with those you stabbed them with a knife. Or you bash them in the head, but it's really messy and who's going to clean it up for the record. Headline was lying cheating bastard. Yes. Well, I was trying to clean it up. The third reason is falling in love with someone else. And she agrees that usually the financial motivation is there too. But what's weird is she Globes religion into this section saying say your church frowns on divorce? You have to be a widow. So that you don't lose standing in the religion. Then she goes on to say it helps if you're not too bothered by the ten commandments abuse is the fourth one, and she goes on to say this one staff and anybody can claim abuse. What's abuse? She says that this is a good backup motive for. If you do get arrested. You can always throw out the abuse are says it's typical for abused women to not call nine one one. After they've let the house on fire with their husband inside a number five. It's your profession, and this is the one that just kind of silly now, we're talking you possess the scale of analogy, and you can cleanly carry off a hit and walk away. How about these options because she goes through all of the murder weapons possible guns. Obviously, they're loud messy. She says you gotta have a good aim knives are super personal and to close up blood can get everywhere. She literally says you. Right using like a garage string or something like that. She's like, you gotta have a lot of upper body strength. If you want to strangle a person heavy equipment usually involving heading someone with a baseball bat or a pipe. He also details poison saying that that's the reason why you marry a doctor. So you're gonna have access to pharmaceuticals can later poison them easy to obtain worse off though, it's easy to trace though. Exactly problem. Don't use it. Thanks.

"Just great conservatives both socially and economically and yet we are being bullied by the people in those two counties in those two cities so for instance romney was a head and winning in oregon not that i was a big romney fan but but he was better than the alternative but he was winning and then it got to multnomah county and they heard it up people they were even allowing people michael to vote after eight pm deadline and this is another thing people might know about oregon or might not know is that we have a male in only ballot but you can turn those ballots in until eight pm on election day at boxes so what they do in multnomah county is they round up people they round up street people they round up anybody they can they get ballots turned in and we know that there is fraud going on we know this is happening and then suddenly what starts out as a republican or a conservative win ends up being a liberal win so you know a lot of people are waking up because we're starting to have so many confiscatory gun regulations the current governor that we have now governor brown heinous heinous governor she is putting through fast and furious as many gun grabbing laws as she can and let me tell you michael that is waking people up around the state like never before there are a lot of people mistake but even believe in constitutional kerry and if they come to take their guns there's going to be stuff happening here in oregon i know that it's definitely a concern and it's certainly something that we share as well and i know that there's just been a lot of things a lot there's a lot of misinformation disinformation because you know your whole argument about the two counties influence in the state so dramatically and i know that you know who robert reich is you know and his advancing the notion that we should do away for example with the electoral college and what you just shared with us is exactly the reason why we never should.
