"Take. A city exhaled yesterday just a bit, but it was badly needed. We myself in the investigative team are pleased that Mr. MacArthur has pled guilty today. Sparing the community and those who knew the victims of lengthy trial. I believe that this is the best possible outcome for the families and the community. For about two years in Toronto. It is felt like the overwhelming question around the crimes that led to Bruce. Macarthur's arrest has been how much worse is this going to get we started wondering at with dread after dogged reporting made it clear that men were vanishing in the church street village, three men disappeared over two years span. But it's only now that investigators are now making any kind of connection we asked the same question after each new cry for help from the community the fact that there was a serial killer that was out there the evidence does not point to that the evidence does not suggest that we wondered it after every please press conference. I when they said, there was no reason to believe there was a serial killer operating then this morning at approximately ten twenty five AM. Police arrested Sixty-six-year-old Bruce MacArthur, he has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in relation to Mr. kinsman. And Mr. Essen, we wondered it after every revelation made plane just how long the hints and the warnings had been there. Wait. Thing for investigators. We wondered it after every new charge every new body. Every announcement the police were spotted back at the Mallory crescent property where the remains were found and every time we asked at brought a new.

"This is skater. I understand you're very successful private enterprise. I'm glad to come to you next. How do you feel about a change in the federal taxation Laos, which was weighing rating from the religious organizations and labor organizations under the same tax structure. The cooperation speech, they are competing. Churches buildings in which religious service held way. A union members meet five meetings. Well, I think what you let you may be referring to is the question of cooperatives organizations are foundations and cooperatives and others that are that are financed by tax free organizations and then compete with what what are called private organizations that pay taxes. My general attitude on that is that we have to be very careful to draw the line that you indicated in the last part of your question. I do not want to have any kind of a proposal at this time, and in the United States that will do anything the weaken our religious organizations, frankly to be perfectly Frank with you if a if a church a religious organization is able to make some money out of a out of a legitimate, private enterprise activity. I'm for it because the churches need money, I wanna see religion role in this country. And I don't want to tax it in any way that we can possibly can if on the other hand we have a situation where it strictly. A case some organization other than a religious organization competing with a private enterprise and having a a special status attacks a tax advantage. Then we ought to have legislation which will balance that all I have studied this over a period of years, and I think the new tax reform that we will have the next administration will look at these situations and remove the inequities. But when it comes to the religious organizations, I feel very strongly that it would be a step in the wrong direction to move over here and make it impossible for religious organizations to get the funds that are necessary for them to expand their missionary and other works. Mrs Mr. kinsman. Thank you. What would you do as president to bring him back to America? And what is your definition of law and order? Let me start with a definition. I by law and order. I mean, WalMart for everybody. And one thing right on the line at the beginning. I I know that it has been suggested that law and order is a code word for racism. I don't buy that at all. But let's understand that as far as law and order is concerned that the black Americans have just as great a stake in law and orders. White Americans have fear stocks, the ghettos as well as it stocks, the suburbs. And we have to remember that when we think of of organized crime, for example, it preys on the poor the poor people, for example, they were the victims of the narcotics. And they're the victims of the numbers and all the other things which is crime engages in. So when we see crying going up nine times as fast as population as it has in these last eight years, and that's three times as fast as it went up during the Eisenhower years when we see and this is the critical point that if we don't have a change, I new policy by military general attitude toward the enforcement of law and order new laws and new strengthening of the peace forces in this country. You realize it if the same trend contracting us that crime in the United States will double in the next four years by the end of the next term of the next president. Now, I think we can stop the rights of crime and what we have to recognize. I is that law and order is something everybody wants. But if you're gonna have on order, it must be just it must apply just lead everybody as I said in my acceptance speech of Miami, we've got to have respect for law, but have laws if they're to be respected. They must deserve respect. And we go third to the point that if you're going to have long odor. You must also have among people who do not have a chance you gotta have hope that they can go up. You know, it's very easy to say. Well, if we just put enough police in the cities to control some of these things, and if we pay them enough, and we give them enough authority we'll have law and order over the long haul because if you have people that have no eventually will explode, and if they explode, then you simply have what I would call the warfare, which nobody in America wants you don't need to have that. That's why the the the question asked by Mr. Connecticut directly related that the reason that we got to move on these problems of poverty, these problems of unemployment these problems of hopeless. Snus that exists in America is only as we move on those problems we pull some of the fire away from those who would destroy America. Those who would burn I think what we have to. Remember is that they all go together. Now having spoken to the problem. Let me tell you some of the things that needs to be done. I we got to look at some of the decisions that have been handed down by some of our courts. Let me make my position very clear. I'm a lawyer. I've argued a case before the supreme court on two occasions. I respect the supreme court as an institution. I respect them in on it on the other hand I disagree with some of the decisions. And as I look over the decisions of that court in recent years. I reached the conclusion that another cards that some of our courts in their decisions. And it's only the decisions I'm criticizing but some of our courts and their decisions have gone too far in weakening the peace forces against the criminal forces. And we have to ready that balance in the United.

"This morning at approximately ten twenty five AM police arrested Sixty-six-year-old, Bruce MacArthur of the city of Toronto. He is self employed as a landscaper using the company name, artistic design, and he lives in the thorn cliff park area. He has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in relation to Mr. kinsman and Mr. Assen. We believe his responsible for the deaths of mistress and Mr. kinsman, and we believe he is responsible for the deaths of other men who have yet to be identified. In other words, we believe there are other victims. As of right now, interviews or taking place and police have secured five properties for in Toronto and one in Medak connected to Bruce MacArthur in an effort to further investigate these occurrences. We have not yet found the bodies we're actively looking for them were conducting these search warrants in efforts to locate the bodies. But at this point in time, no, we have not located them. I'm well aware of the difficulty prosecuting people without recovering the bodies. But in this case, we believe we have strong enough evidence where we can do exactly that. All right. So now we're saying or law enforcement saying, we think at least these two, the two victims that are connected with project prism are connected. So the way that this is being reported at this time as that on January seventeenth, two thousand eighteen investigators searched several properties all linked to Bruce MacArthur, including his residence and property where he was known to store supplies, evidence at either one or both of these locations found that seems to be good enough to tie Bruce MacArthur to the deaths of kinsmen and ascend now at this time at the time of the arrest. As you heard on January eighteen two thousand eighteen, they have no bodies yet. But regardless MacArthur is arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder. Now a little more clarity on the subject because one. Question that I find presented often it seems this to be a big one is how and when did this guy get on the polices radar, right, right. Because here we have them saying he's linked to two cases via the charges we just discussed, but there are certainly a much longer relationship between Bruce a man that disappeared, Bruce employed scandal, and they had a romantic relationship. So when and wide Bruce appear on the police radar now, Toronto police have not said exactly how long Bruce MacArthur had been on their radar. They have said that the charges were laid out after months of probing. Now, according to information told to the local media by employee's at a place called Dom 's auto parts shop. Well, a source says, investigators had been onto Bruce MacArthur since at least the fall of two thousand seventeen. And fact the owner of the shop said. Police officers arrived in late September. This was because they there were suspicious about a vehicle they asked for and began watching surveillance video. Bruce MacArthur selling his dodge caravan to the shop after studying the tape. The police then seized the old rusted, maroon dodge caravan sold by MacArthur and they had it towed away. There's always a creeper van. Now, my guess is there must have been something in that van because then they start. That's when they start to follow Bruce MacArthur around and then listen to this new story and listen close because there's a lot in there. I'm major go. Braille were live outside of alleged serial killer Bruce MacArthur's apartments tonight in east Toronto. Now, the tonight police source confirms that back on January eighteenth they watched a young man walk into the nineteen th floor of MacArthur's apartment that is when officers moved in rushing the apartment kicking down the door inside they found that young man handcuffed to the allege serial killers bed. Police source says that young man made it out safe though. Tonight we're learning more about another man whose fate is still unclear. It was just a lovely person and he's going to be missed. Investigators believe year. Dean Lissa wick was killed sometime between may twenty sixteen and July twenty seventeen. No one ever reported him missing. However, a wick was a regular at the Scott mission in Toronto for more than a decade staff. Tell me the last time he was there was an April of two thousand sixteen. I spoke with a longtime worker at the mission today, canoe Lissa, wick and shared her colleagues. Memories of him, a memory of a man they say is important to share. He would often give to clients out of his own. So if he realizes somebody needed shelter, he would put repents that person needs it more than me, and he would give up his and very generous out of just whatever he had, whether it was changed or an item clothing, he would often be known just to pass that on to other clients. Residents. MacArthur is charged with the murder of five men. Andrew kinsman Salim 'Send Majid's Kayhan Seru, smashed moody, and dean. Lissa wick yesterday we told you that police have unearthed. The dismembered remains of at least three identified individuals for multiple large planters from some of the thirty properties. They're sifting through. On January twenty. First city news captured police, removing this large, heavy planter from the property of Ron Smith. And Karen Frazier today spoke on the phone with Smith. He says, police have been very professional while conducting their investigation on the couple's Lee side property and its heart goes out to the victims and their families, though being removed from their homes with no return date and Saint has been difficult. You have to get out of your house. You have to get. Now this is serious, and Bye-bye. So we grabbed a couple of things left and it's been a shambles ever since the reality winking we're now on our second group of friends who have been good enough to able to keep us we are far away. So what we do every now and then we dry just to check into see with look playing, and it really is very surreal. Smith adds that MacArthur worked on his property for about ten years. Do some free work there in turn. They let MacArthur store some of his equipment on their Lee side property in the garage at their home. Now, tonight, the folks over at Scott mission also confirm with me that police came and interviewed them just before we went in there today, they're asking if anyone else who uses the mission may have ties to Bruce MacArthur tonight. The investigation still continues the story keeping a close eye on the days to come. So
