"Rarely happens where the guy who is relieved of his duties is allowed to do what you were able to do and the outpouring of warmth from your players towards you. I think really helped your next job opportunity. I think when people around the league saw that and heard all all the way players reacted about it You know made it easy for somebody like and Snyder had come find you and we'll give you a job. One of the things that Mr Snider night talked about was culture was was building the culture and what we had done in Carolina the guys that had had adapted and got into the swing of the things that we did. And that's one of the things he asked me about you know coming to DC and that's when the things we're gonNA work on developing a culture and I think that's a very important part of it is is that you know things are going to emanate from from the way we do things. Well if we do things the right way we give ourselves a chance dance you know. I wonder if a coach like you. I know you play the Redskins. You're gonNA scout them when you're getting ready to play them but when they ask you to come in and looked at their roster look at all the tape look at all the players I have here. What was the first thing that you realized are saw that they had in place there? They had a lot of young quality football players. That have played a lot of football already when you look look at the fact that they start at three wide receivers played three wide receivers. That were rookies. Two of them started. So there's a lot of young guys playing. You look at the youth on the defensive front. You got a rookie of first year. Second Year third year guy a couple of the second year guys a couple third in fact there were there were six guys that played and I think the guy with the most experienced within the fourth year. I mean that to me tells you that there's a good quality Young depth players. That are doing a lot of good things for the organization so I was pretty excited about roster and the more I looked at it I noted. There's some quality players quality offense alarming. I mean the Assad Stout Group and you look at those guys and you sit and fill. Wow how you got on one side and and you go wild. The inside is is is taken care of those guys look like they have the ability to continue to grow and be the recruit really doesn't reflect the players. Maybe it's more a reflects inexperienced players especially at your quarterback position which I want to ask you next I Alex Smith Smith. Do you think he's ever GonNa play again. Does he WANNA play again. What's the story with him? I know Alex wants to play again. He's been working out. He's been doing things the right way and you know he's he's done and a good job I'm excited about where he is his progress And it's been good. I mean he really is in fact I saw him the other day at the facility was he was doing. His Rehab is workouts. You know the last time He. He was a full on starting quarterback that made it through the season. He had a backup quarterback by the Patrick Mahomes and Patrick Mahomes. Sweet gives a lot of credit to Alex Smith. Getting Tim to where he is today. Could you see a scenario where that could develop for your team with Dwayne Haskins. Oh very much so I think again. You'll Alex Alex is health. And he's rolling and he eh competing and he wins the job. He'll be starting this symbol and vice versa. dwayne comes out. Does the things the way he's supposed to developing like we're hoping he can he'll start again. This is about competition is about bringing guys into compete against one another to put the best players on the field to give us a chance to win football. Just how we're going to do things. I'm.
Redskins introduce Ron Rivera as head coach
"The redskins officially named Ron Rivera their new head coach yesterday. Washington Fire Jay Gruden on route. Two a three and thirteen season the Redskins have not won a playoff game since two thousand five. That was when Joe Gibbs was their head coach Washington looking for some of the stability ability that Rivera brought to Carolina. The Panthers never won a title. They did reach the playoffs. Four Times under coach Rivera including a super bowl trip in two thousand fifteen. The redskins last made the Super Bowl in nineteen ninety-one and in a matter of moments the redskins will introduce Ron Rivera as the new head coach. You can see see. They are getting ready now in the nation's capital and as we wait for coach Rivera. I'll ask you this. What do you want to hear this afternoon? I think from Ron Rivera. I I just want to hear why he was attracted active to this job. Several Head coaching vacancies out there. And and why he took this job and and presumably so quickly when there could be potential other openings out there even in Dallas as we wait for that one and then secondly I wanna hear his evaluation or just thoughts overall Dwayne Haskins in what he might be thinking with regards to the offensive coordinator position. Since we're thinking that he's going to interview the current Guy There Kevin O'CONNELL and and You know what he might be looking being out of the coach from nap position. If he doesn't go with the guy who's currently their jobs I think the the the maturation process of dwayne Hassans is important for this football team. And I think that's the number one issue for Ron Rivera. Moving forward is how do I get my quarterback if he feels doing Haskins is indeed his quarterback How do I get my Guy Ready? Ready available with the right mindset because we do understand doing hasn't silly young player. So how do I get them in the right mindset to be successful in this football league and I'm a little sour about this. I'm a huge huge Ron. Rivera Fan. I sat with them while I was out. During my tenure with the giants was over and I was going to different Teams and sitting down with their coaches. He was the one that struck me. The most is just is a straight shooter. Honest about what. He does with his with his teammates. Everybody loves them. Teammates loving other coaches love. Him and I think he's walking to the podium right now. We'll take Noon I happy Thanksgiving everybody. Today's the beginning of a great new year for the Redskins Organization and its fans I I'd like to thank Bill Callahan. Those here five years did a great job for us a great guy and we really appreciate him with the Redskins have needed is a cultural change. Someone that can bring a winning cultural to organization at starts and ends with our head coach when looking for that man. I looked for a class. Act That's how you describe coach Rivera. He was two time coach of the year. And for those of you. That don't understand. That's very very hard to do. You should google that Because it's impressive oppressive He was fifteen to one which is extremely hard to do Did my research spend a lot of time talking a lot. Allow People A lot of coaches and one thing that came across certain words and these words. We're integrity honesty. Knowledge Grit determination. It's all about winning. Ron Rivera knows how to win as a player player as a coach as a new head coach of the Redskins. One thing. That's very very important. We're GONNA have one voice and only one voice alone and that's the coaches like to welcome. Ron's wife Stephanie. We've gotten over the last few weeks and our new head coach of the Washington redskins coach Ron Rivera. Thank you you know with about thirty days ago that your team. This team got me unemployed. So just so you know. We're good now thank thank you. It's an honor serve as a coach in the NFL. It really truly is their only thirty. Two of us at anyone given time and these jobs are scarce this one the Washington the redskins. This one is special. This is one of the almost original teams started in nineteen thirty two. There's a Lotta history behind football team in order for us to get back to where we WANNA be. We've got a study that history embrace it history and prepared a repeat that history because if not we're doomed to repeat the most recent history. We're not gonNA do that guys. We really aren't everything we do is going to be about winning. Okay we'll do things the right way and that's the only way we're going to do them because if it doesn't help us we're not doing it man that's just as simple as it gets. So why did I choose the REDSKINS. Probably the question. I know a lot of you guys are wondering that right now with everything. That's out there. I can tell you right now. All this talk about the money I want the money I'd still be out there trying to pick a couple teams against each other. I took this job for one. Simple reason one simple reason because because Dan Snyder came to me with a very interesting perspective for weeks he's explored the reasons why some teams win and some teams. Don't he told me. The common. In fact that transitional success of teams like the Patriots the Seahawks and the chiefs. Some of the other ones was that decision to take it and make a coach centered approach each not an owner centered approach or a team president or GM. Coach centered approach. I told Mr Snider that I appreciate the fact that he believes the head coach matters but I would be honored but under one condition it had to be a player centered culture a player center culture. Something I truly do believe in my responsibility to get the most out of the players to work with them teach them mentor them. Five five to one by one. I most certainly. We'll do it. I've done in the past and I'll do it again. I'll do what I can't help. These young men become not just the players we want but the men in the community we need. These are the guys that can help change things not just on the football field but in this world I really do believe that I was fortunate enough to have that in Carolina and I hope I'm a work to have it here. In Washington. Things will begin with one. Simple principle off discipline. I come from a military family. We're disciplined it isn't taught it's live. It's expected from day they won. I have a philosophy every player every coach everyone who works for this organization. They'll know what day one you're not gonNA play for this team. You're not gonNA work visist team if you don't have the discipline to give us everything. You have no exceptions no excuses. That simple guys. We have to hold each other accountable. That's something that we most certainly will do. We'll expect most from each other whether I was in Chicago Carolina with our very best when the players knew. Do the coaches had their backs. And this is the thing I'm going to ask from the players. Do it the way we teach you do it the way we ask you do it that way. The success will be yours. Okay you do it that way accessible be yours if you don't excess is going to be yours but it's not gonNA be right. Why because if you fail it's on you do it our way do it the right way and if we fail it's on me okay? It'll be on me. The head coach at simple. I truly believe that I ask of. You doesn't work I'm to blame. I told Mr Snider. I wanted to assemble coaching staff. That was truly dedicated. The players and teachers and teachers. Okay I don't have to have a great big names would have to have is great teachers. We want to teach these guys how to play football to the best of their abilities to the best of our abilities and also it'd be good quality young men off the field. I want players tough. Hungry will do whatever it takes to play redskin football fall in January and hopefully into February. I told him I wanted to work. Hand in hand with the head of player personnel could spot potential and others that even. I didn't see another didn't see. That's going to be important because it has to be a collaboration no matter who it is no matter. WHO's working with us? It has

Zack Snyder Returns to Movies After Stepping Away from Justice League Due to Daughter's Suicide
"Excuse me, according to the Hollywood reporter the movie is set to start filming this summer. And more news Snyder announced his decision to step down from Justice league in emotional interview with HR where he also revealed that autumn had died two months earlier in March two thousand seventeen and the he initially went back to work to after her death. He later realized it wasn't what was best for him and his family, and my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work to just bury myself into see if that was. If that was way through it that was a way through it Stanton. Toni T HR the demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming and in the last two months, I've come to the realization decide to take a step back from the movie to be with my family be with my kids who really need me. You're listening audience wanna put you on hold for a little while because I wanna speak to. Larry let win good morning. Well, very and good morning to use Sony and thanks for having me this morning. Well, Larry, let me just set it up this way last week when I did the radio show after the show was over my producer, Phil Jackson said Larry Litwin called and would like to have you give him a call. So I called you, right? After the show was I'd do with most people who request a conversation. And you then said to me what? But he didn't like that. No, we Snyder for those of my radio listening audience is an individual who started at the bottom. His father owned a scratchy store in DC at one time. He sold albums and things out of the back of his car. And then eventually, you know, he got together and going up the ladder and became extremely successful. So first and foremost, he liked to be for two as Ed, and that's why he and I had a special relationship, and he liked the fact that when I refer to him it would always be eight and he referred to me back a sunny, and that kind of a conversation, but the other thing about it was that he really was a person of the people, and I say this often because I've had the privilege and pleasure of being around him and the pleasure of being at the Wells Fargo center, and the names of the center prior to that and the people that were most important to him where the people at the bottom of the wrong, he treated them. So well. And the people who are still at the Wells Fargo center who have been a part of its neither in terms of what's going on. They revere him as a human being and a person who understood what their plight was. Because at one time he was in the same kind of a situation. Well, let me tell you people are so thrilled that you are receiving this award. And we have at least one benefactor who stepped forward. This is for your listening. Your radio listening audience, you you're listening radio audience, and that is that we the public is invited to attend.

And we knew this day was coming at some point. But it is a sad day. You look at what kind of an impact he had. On not only the university in the football program. But also the state of Kansas. I mean, just amazing. And then then you think okay, it's it's a hiring. But it's much more than just hiring a coach who wants to get you wins. They have to get wins in the right way. According, you know. In my book. So it'll be interesting to see who they get as a replacement. It has been a joy in a tree to you know, when I was a kid my brothers recruited to play football case state. They they just didn't win ever ever. Right, right. It's been a treat. And I know my my brother who passed away several years ago, he took a lot of joy in that to see that program. Turn around like it did and be gap come to the top programs in the country. Mike was really really proud of his case state jersey. Yeah. So yeah, it's it's quite a deal. It's going to be challenged to find somebody to come in there. And here is they've got a lot of stuff in place. I would think if they can take advantage of it could be in a ride the wave for a few years, maybe and getting it'll be tough to to follow a legend. It will be. But there you go. Seventy nine years. Come on, folks. He's done enough. Right. So he is just amazing the work. He's done understanding is that he doesn't know how to rest very well. "The deal. Not because the king said, oh, please give us Marty McSorley. But because Wayne Gretzky said, I'm not going anywhere without Marty McSorley. Here's Marty McSorley, if Wayne Gretzky nothing was to happen. Every time somebody hit and clean. People would have been looking to hit him clean three or four times every shift all year long. How is he ever going to stay healthy? If I don't go by the other bench and safe fellas that's enough. That's enough. I'm not putting up fighting has been a part of the game since its inception. In fact, the first professional hockey game ever ended in a fight. Although the term enforcer didn't come into the league until the nineteen seventies players were protecting players all the way back into the twenties. But the start of the arms race began with Ed Snyder's, nineteen sixty seven expansion team nicknamed the broad street bullies. Broad street. Bullies the Philadelphia Flyers were the ones that started. This whole thing with intimidation and fighting frustrate bullies were created because of the Saint Louis blues. They had taken advantage of them and their owner said singing to happen anymore. Mr. Snider, the owner said, you know, if we can't find all these superstars these great skaters right away. But we can certainly find guys who can beat other guys up did not wanna see a flyers team intimidated ever again. Teams in those days had one or two tough guys that could do that could take care of the flyers had like a seven we'd go into cities hockey seriously headlines. Hide the women and children here come the animals. Mean at one point. My mother read said Dave show should be kicked out of the league. The league voted hated him. You know, everybody hated him go and people that love the more Philadelphia. And then Ed Snider they went out there. Mentality that they were just going to be anyone who stepped on the ice with them. And he did it, and they won that advantage of that intimidation really helped at that time they could do that and get away with it. What they did was make teams copy it. That's what it dubbed tell right into the eighties as well. Even on the wing. Gretzky era and that high flying as early I mean, the ranger games three and a half hours. The valve Alberto would take three and a half hours. Do I need to mention what Montreal ankle back. Would you feel like those sixteen probably half the players should have been in prison for what happened on the ice during some of those games? So there is that that violence in the eighties as well like anything, and it became a culture developed around it for better and for worse. The other Lucien of training.
