"It's funny that also that like in Barney's like fantasy scenario he's leveled up to Homer, right because there's like dating a guy named Homer. He works the nuclear plant, but it's just Barney lying about being homers like. Sure, that's like in Barney's world like that's who's above him. And so he's just like I Homer has got going on. I'll be like him. Yeah. All relatively going back to Mr. plow. That's a lot with the plow king. And they're kind of rivalry which I felt was like so earned because of course, like they were child at best friends have that kind of not like over rivalry. But something that sort of like a dimmer switch on low way. Bernie as a young man is skyrocketing. Pass Homer Homer brings drags him down into the mud of alcohol is oh, yeah. Yeah. They're truly the most codependent fictional characters time. Yeah. So then yes, March gets our heroes. Welcome. Everybody loves her again. She doesn't question why? She's very accepting. She hasn't question much in this episode which is part of her downfall. But in this moment, she's just happy. He's back home. She's not a stronger self advocate that would have been a, you know, that's important lesson. We can all take away from this. I think for yourself. You said it took the words right out of my mouth. If she had said like, I didn't steal this. I would did this by mistake rather than like, oh, I guess I didn't pay for that. Yeah. You can't be a passive person in this life. If I had a demanded that Allie come to this tape in a sick or not. Yeah. Rain or shine, rain or shine. We could have been talking about her mad magazine full day. So this is about that. Now. No. Oh. Do you want me to go? I could I mean. Is she around the corner? Get in here. Here alley. Good though. I hope everybody enjoyed that. Quick improv. You were all treated to no training everyone. Could you believe I made it through LA for stand up for ten years without any training know, that's all off the dome anyway. So yes, we're at the end of the road. I really love the statue of Jimmy Carter has been repurpose in the goofiest silliest way possible. They just put in March hair on top of it. So repurpose Malays forever and to March for forever. Yeah. There it is. And then I love we get a beautiful sunset. Simpson's shot of the statue is been repurpose once again to be tetherball kind of all right for the kid. You kinda wanna like the Simpsons do get very big cumbersome things. I think they've addressed this in a couple of later season episodes were like, Mr. burns gives them that big Tiki head thing, right? Right. Like all the other random things they've acquired throughout the years basement apparently. Yeah, I would love to see a shot in the basement and like Indiana Jones style, you know, boxes and Crips and stuff all of the different weird things. They've collected the boot from Australia. So that's the end of this Simpsons episode, and you already kind of touched on the way we like to wrap up we ask what lesson and may have learned from either this conversation or the episode. Maybe you could I don't know pick a different lesson. I will say the lesson should forever..

"Doing those twists and turns that as michael you would say he wanted to you know they always want to twist the story so hard without breaking but they wanna make such a sharp right turn so that you can never truly predict you know what the next move is going to be and it just feels so organic remarkable bugged me like i think that if you talk about the difference between a great simpson's episode and a good simpson's episode which is you know i'm not one of the people who complain about the fact that they're still making the simpsons i say go to town cashless checks make those great jokes like go go for it bring happiness to new thirteen year olds that find it totally absolutely but i think that like one of the one of the really beautiful things about the really good ones is that as hard as those turns are it never feels like a miscellaneous set of things and it never should kraisak different as much as we went from the circus of the stars thing to the car show to this to the top of a mountain with an action movie parody to like joe my go weird sort of citizen caney art movie parody you know all these different crazy things that happen they all and even the narrative takes a lot of hard left and hard rights much less the kind of context for it they all feel emotionally aren't yeah i mean absolutely and i think that a lot of people you know when they're first starting out to to write tv they kind of try to reverse engineer you know maybe a show like the simpsons or shows that they enjoy and not truly understand that it's not just random for random sake can never be you know i i think that what really elevates is simpsons is that they would never do a joke for joke sake or you know do a joke on a joke it's always something that either drives the narrative forward or expands on the character and but what makes it great is that when you watch it it doesn't feel like it's being beat over the head like it feels seamless and we laugh at those jokes but then you know later see how it plays out like in that flashback that's a really funny joke flashback of seeing barney you know like slowly decay.

"Funniest cameos of all time because he agreed to play version of himself that's very weird and saddened scares the simpsons children he's why doesn't batman dance anymore falls into this kind of madman's reverie that he plays soul perfectly and i feel like this is the first time that he kind of did that like he kind of like made fun of himself in a public way because i think later family guy didn't they like nab him for a bunch of stuff yeah he was wonderful he was he was on news radio thing kid in was wonderful on newsradio i mean the truth is that he is legitimately funny like that part is a part that is a throwaway moment with out much joke in it like the i guess the joke on the page is him referring to the back to see which is the you know famously one of the dumbest things or the or the campus things depending on your perspective on the sixty spamming tv show but like he invests it so deeply with this that odd wistful reverie yeah that that sells the joke a thousand times more than it must have played on the page yet so go ahead i was gonna say i have a soft spot for actress like adam west who you know like can can make fun of themselves and you know like poke fun at like how silly serious their work has been i also feel like that recent michael bolton valentine's day special did you see it haven't seen it it's so good just i mean simply in that michael bolton is super game and really great at like he just is the straight man the entire time and he's a great actor too and it just amps up the comedy in it so much i mean i think the thing that's really lovely about it to me without adam west specifically and the end in general in this kind of thing happens is i really appreciate when someone demonstrates that they have the chops like i i an n i don't like it when part of the joke is how cute it is that that person is aknowledged like there's no skin so i mean this was twenty five years ago there was a lot.

"Now back to our conversation with jesse thorn on mr plow so homer yeah back on track yeah homer homer has ruined both of the family's cars and he goes to the auto show in order to decide well i he goes to eastern european and troy an eastern european auto dealer who tries to sell them a car from a country that no longer exists yes i that he has to push out of the lot and he put it in a i know it's like a really tiny kind of smart card to right i'm like all of the instructions on the dash or like really yeah it's it's a it's a lovely little moment but he goes to the car show and there's a magical thing where they have this interaction with adam west the best moments of tv history and it's clearly what is happening in that moment is that some of these some of these now fifty five ish year old dudes than thirty five ish year old dudes were just sitting in a room and we're like talking about how much they love adam west yes and then they were just like oh we work at the simpsons i bet we could meet at like that's that's obviously there's no reason for him to be in the show yeah and this is early to in its run i mean i i guess maybe not early by any other tv show standards but i'm sure it was seeming like crazy novel idea that they had this power and i love in that moment to that like the camera slowly goes extremely dutch like that that anti micro sixties i love it so much yeah and they yeah they do such a good job playing with all of the callback just in terms of like how it's directed quote unquote but yeah it's just also one of the.

"That's and he turns around and walks it's so good there's a lot of really great march moments in here i mean they're kind of like sparingly scattered throughout but i love that just her going good like i agree and then yeah i think like wanted to me one of the most magical things about this is that they're like it's easier to talk about like oh this is an illusion to this this is a parody of this but much of what is funny on the simpsons is just a perfectly executed setup an execution of guy walks into door it is a perfect guy walks into door and i laughed i've seen this episode probably four times i don't know you know five times over the last twenty five years and i watched it this morning and i was by myself looking at like in my basement like holding my stomach from just homer walking into it's amazing so it's an animated show but they master physics comedy in a way that like i don't i don't know how any other i don't know like how do you plan that the way that they animate homer walking into the doors really funny one of my favorite moments from homer is when he struts into the living room like this and he just goes set march apropos of nothing and it's it's so great i mean i don't know how you pitch that in the raiders room were inserted into a script and have it land as well as it lands when it's fully enemy did i think there's a real kind of earthbound physical quality to the show that makes those that makes those moments very impactful like it allows the exaggeration of animation to feel wadey and significant rather than like a you know as it might in a looney tunes cartoon which are also wonderful i've got a five year old we've been watching their great great.

"So i had it written down but my computers just died so let's just row thank so basically okay so there's a family there's a family yellow family named simpson farts dad is primarily featured i love bart staff yes so yes so for those that haven't seen the episode i'm remembering now he goes to the car show so he drives drunk the impetus of new story is that he'd tried drunk yes yes that's such a great moment to yeah i got him good don't don't yeah i know the so he crashes actually into marge's car in his own driveway and the look on marge's face when that happens is so great and so well animated and then there's a really perfect moment in that scene that i like noted as i was watching it and the other day someone asked me on twitter what my favorite simpsons character was and i was like i guess this is super basic i literally checked in with my wife whether it was too basic to say publicly was like i kind of think it's homer yeah is the best say like disco stu or something but there's a moment where moment where marge's yelling at him for driving drunk deceiving the insurance company and crashing one of their cars into their other car and he says if you're going to yell at me every time i do something stupid i'm going to have to stop doing things that are stupid and she says.
