"Is their quarterback decision just based on everything that he's done in the off season points tour campaign the guy saying that he deserves an opportunity coming back in signing with a forecast of real characters in not some of that stuff. He was playing with last year. The thing that really threw me was when you said. Hey with mac. I get it if you wanna fight for jones to be a starter on by form. I understand that but we went to a different level key where we went to another notch up is when he said with mac jones. They're slightly not as good as the buffalo bills. And i said well does that buffalo bills in super bowl conversation. And he's i guess with mack jones and the patriots. I'm putting them in the super bowl conversation. That's where it's like dan. You had me a little bit. And then you kind of lost me. It was the last time rookie quarterback linda t to a super bowl. Was that dan marino. I think and how long ago was that. I don't know why no rookie quarterback has never won the super bowl. I know last time. A rookie quarterback is gone to the super bowl. Is dan marino. I know a first year quarterback. I think it was Tom brady went the as i took. Several quarterbacks have gone. I you guys but as a rookie quarterback to go to the super bowl so bill bella check in mr craft decided to put all this stuff together and off season in this it We'll sit tight and wait for maximums to be starter and we can go to the super bowl. We're gonna wait for him to fall in our lap and we go make him the start and we're going to super bowl man to go really quick back to jay. We'll set about what they looked like. Before cam had cova last year and how they started out last season the patriots were to in one before cam missed week four with covert if you remember okay and that one loss was a five point. Loss was in seattle and camp stuff on the final play of the game on the one yard line and after that New england lost their next four and basically the wheels fall off. And things didn't go well but can you imagine had they won that game. The last minute against against seattle. They would've been three and then he would have gone out and we would be having a completely different conversation. I feel like at this point was added. What is the situation is polarizing no matter what anybody says we saw with scott zolak said last week. We understand that we get i do. At least i'm not gonna sugar coat. It i think if do plays the way supposed play. He'll start and if you play worse than what he's supposed.

"Stadium a couple of times. Stadium report on hbo. I would i to basket all up and they go around. He says you know what it looks even better today than it looked twelve years ago. We opened in stephen. Of course is yeah. I'm an and then we got that zoom in with the the drove grown and we went through what they ought to renamed jerry ville it's frisco texas. We had to go down main street and all the way into the facility in alter the locker room field the indoor outdoor riot and nobody has a better facility than this no it is his kingdom. He is the king of this kingdom but in the end. It's about him more than it's about winning. And when he says i would write any size check to win a super bowl. Well that's fine. But that's not how winds and you brought up. Mr craft up in new england could could jerry ever go. Robert kraft and just go to the games. Just go to the game. You can go sit up there and get all the tv close ups that you want during the game. That's fine because robert kraft always gets some shots. Yes vanity shoddy i but but jerry's incapable of staying out of it nor he did play college football. He was on a national championship team. Nineteen sixty four. Jimmy was there. They were not that close they. They roomed together on the road because are in alphabetical order. Jones and johnson. In yet. jerry did do that but when it i. I've spoken to him at for hours about football. He doesn't have a great feel for for who can play in. Who can't know so so now he's he's actually having crucial input into whom they draft into on the end. The call on cd lamb. That was jerry. Call every call in the draft especially the first round pick. That's jerry jones. He knows what the options are. And he's re he's got all the information giving them all the information with these guys that are draft board. Yeah these are the top ten guys. Top fifteen guys drive bore and they had all the information skill jerry one field on college. He's not looked at one on a free agent. They've handed him. This information and ingenious. What i like i like i like a in. That's what they do. Yup and now he's all in on cd i am to the next day. And he's sitting up there. We saw the footage of him saying what a weapon. He is okay. I concur but any fool could save you right so in the end. I'm with you. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Because listen i'm going to be honest. I really liked this guy around for any amount of time. You're just gonna like you can't because he's unsinkable. he's unshakable. He's fun to be around because he's always in a good move for the party. He's alive for the hair. You could believe that. A seventy eight seventy seven year old. The life of a party is jerry. An unsinkable optimism. He's always like it's going to be great. It's going great. He talked about that. When the camp opened in his speech we got teary eyed and his was broken up right get. Wouldn't you feel better. If at some point in time they had gotten to an nfc championship game and lost a close game or they had even made it to the superbowl even if they had lost. When you have when you feel better as opposed to four playoff wins in two and a half decades. It makes you say okay. They're close now okay. So i concur with that point as a lifelong cowboy fan. The most shocking stat of all in all of sports is what you just said. You have all that money and all those resources and you did that with. Jimmy's help obviously. But you're pretty good. Team jimmy it was short live. It was gonna blow up because the to me goes were too big and now both of them looked back and especially jerry looks back and says what was i think right and yet he did pull it off with berry switzerland. I have nothing but respect for berries. A football coach because he can really coach it right shoji coach in college and pro football and i know he's had his issues and all that we know all them. They've all had their issues but it worked for that run and they should have won. What maybe six in a row they could be. They could have been the patriots before the patriots. Yeah because you had troy. You had emmett. You had might you that team. They were in their prime dion woods. Twenty-seven troy was twenty seven. All the guys were in the absolute peak prior. Nobody's ever won three in a row. No no so they could have at least three in a row came to the championship game to the giants and eighty nine. Okay pull that team that ninety okay but so were those calories. You you're you're you're you're you're right. That ninety four team. They they got to the nfc championship had a hamstring with a little campy that day. Yeah but they were they could they could have been something really special really really works make. I'm talking about special. I'm talking about what we haven't even talked like you said the three in a row would have set them apart. That's what it does basketball. You wouldn't really road basketball or baseball. Teams disagree with your takeaway. Which is since barry switzer. That's it to say that they were very unspecified after that unspecified even though i think they're going to win the least we're gonna talk about that a little later. Roses power rankings. Have them rising quickly. Probably because people are watching hardly right right and you get caught up in cowboy main right because jerry. How will hire anyone. That has a backbone so you i guess a lotta people skip i wanna i wanna coat and i get an opportunity. I costa cowboys. Yeah but that's all you do your coaching title. You have no say not on the final rian mike mccarthy. We saw him on the field. With jerry and stephen jerry junior and he needed a job he wanted this job. It's a huge platform and he got it because he ingratiated himself as another son. If you if you become another son to jerry. And that's how they treat him like a family member. Yup you're golden because you'll do his bidding for he says or stephen says you do it execute. It right. wouldn't do that. Jimmy johnson and coach parcells coach parcells. Thank you jerry. Finally had his moment. I did enjoy the Let's just circle. Let's do what. I what i feel very really. Do free trials renew without your consent. It's a business scam out to get you. "Few when i say a play the entire game but let him get a series of two rhythm back. Okay so allow me to make this point. Who is the greatest quarterback who ever played. Well i think we finally agreed that it's that forty four year old who is now running the arguably the best offense and pro football for arguably the best team in pro football and. I think you've even seen the light. You think they're the best team right. Yes okay. so what. Is tom brady. Do in the preseason. What is he done if you just look back over the last five or six. Preseason what is his mo in the preseason. He plays football. he's always played. He just plays. I look back at his excuse me his last five years in new england right. Was this bell check or brady in this case. I believe it's tom just saying. Hey i need rep. He averaged playing a full game in the pre season where he would take two games and played the whole first half right now. You got to play your starters. If you're going to play quarterback definitely got to play. Your star is what i'm saying this from ages. Thirty seven to forty two his last five years in new england he averaged playing a half and a half two preseason games for five straight years from thirty seven to forty two right and the key one was twenty eighteen. The last time new england won the super bowl when they beat the rams ryan burrow hard gamed but they got their right they got there. Won the game in that preseason. Tom brady played in two games and played the entire first half. And i'm just gonna give you the numbers just quickly just to show you how much he was playing football. He was against philli and week to he was nineteen of twenty six with two touchdowns and no interceptions we through twenty six passes and then they went to carolina and i watched this whole first half because i was in awe. He was still in the game up to half time. That's a long time for your starters. Fly right he was getting knocked around in that game and it was getting dicey and dangerous and he threw eighteen passes in the first half. Why does he do that. Why does the greatest quarterback ever played that much in the preseason because he knows he needs to establish rapport with his shannon. Sharpe right yes this time on time. It's all timing connection rhythm. it's it's vibe. yes. I know where you're going to be. I have chemistry with and the only way to get real. Chemistry is under real fire. It's not even real fire but it's better than campfire right okay. So that's what tom brady does. And they have already announced. They're going to play their first game against cincinnati on saturday. Night and bruce arians said well he's at least gonna play a series or two and that's their first preseason game that's normal how it works. Give you playoff series of two. Then you play a quarter maybe into the second quarter then you play to the half or maybe a series in the third quarter. That's normally how it worked. Then you start dump for done for the rest of the game and you don't even play the preseason gay but you got some plate under your bill so help me out here to your point. Dak prescott made it through four full games then apart of the fifth game last year. So that's effectively. We'll give me in those five. So that means eleven games. He missed at the right down the stretch he last year and then in the first camp padded practice this year's we saw on hard. He's strains his arm an injury. I've never heard of before and we both said you hear about tired. Arm's or dead arms camp but you don't hear about pulled muscle muscles. I've never heard of that one before. So it's a little strange and you made a good point yesterday. Is it possible that his lower half he just not comfortable turning into so you just kind of arm throw it until you finally arm throw it until it's something goes. Maybe okay. I give you that so now to your other point stephen jones is trying to say i'm gonna read the quote here. He says i just think dak prescott knows how to play the game of football and whether he plays a series against houston isn't going to affect how he's going to play in the opener against tampa. That opener happens to be on september. The ninth which is a thursday night which means it's the solo opener for the defending champs at home against a defense that i'm going to remind everybody caught fire postseason. Todd bowles defense caught fire. They on wanna show. That wasn't a fluke. Actually are so debbie white that i was talking about earlier. He'll be for that to be okay in. Everybody came back shack. You can argue. Thought he was gone but he took a little bit of a hometown. discount day. and show that we're going to run this back right so let's just look quickly what that defense did down. The playoff stretch at drew brees breeze. Went nine thousand. Nine hundred thirty four one touchdown and three interceptions and through for a grand total of one hundred and thirty four yards and a qbr scale of one to one hundred thirty two against that defense where you not impressed of course okay. That's what dax up against. Aaron rodgers fared a little better on yardage because he did though for three forty six although they were down and he was just flinging it back to five ten. We're all over him the whole game. He had a qbr sixty eight which was decent but not not aaron rodgers great and they lost thirty one to twenty six at home in the nfc championship game. And you have to give the defense a large share of credit for that and then you know what happened patrick mahomes. He couldn't even said his feet for he was getting rocked or or hassled by somebody some way and he winds up throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions with a qbr scale one to one hundred fifty so he had a dead average qbr against that. That defense is going to be primed and spoiling to show the world. It was no fluke. And you're gonna throw dak who can't even practice padded practice with his own team right right into the fire against that fire eating fire-breathing defense. That's what stephen says. Skip what do you think. The chances are at any point in time with the twenty year. They were together coach. Mr craft and tom brady. Mr craft had the press compensate. You know what. I think pre seasons overrated. I think tom go play. What owner. what general manager. That's the coach's just like see mike mccarthy they'll say you know i'm thinking about now zeke's workload a lot of cares about body why you give they hired. You will see what you did ally because remember. He told him. I'll watch every game every snap you guys to get the job he liked will. I really did watch every snap. I would just want the job. So i told him that. Mike mccarthy that's the problem the defunct dysfunctionality of all of this the owners. The general mattis the ceo. Whatever titled the joneses. Have we know they own the team. They should not be making decisions that you jerry could've told jimmy choice not gonna play the preseason season. He might have tried. That would rather be discussion..

"My friends training camp so shannon this is this is your two a days and so we've been to have the your day so you need to be in shape for the season and i'm going to be i'm going to be it's gonna be like casey hampton. I'm gonna wanna make sure that you're in good shape. He'll be like casey hampton yet. Five to five to sit you down because you're not condition for the for the whole week by run time around that mile. Run dorey walking in the middle. Tony as tony is a runner. So we don't. We don't even have to worry about that theory so they're your runner. Yeah the group that. I was always dead last. I mean soak so far behind. I don't even see anybody anymore. So low i am. Yeah as long as you're finishing my man so check that out chris. This week they're going to be talking about the five most crucial guys for the steelers this season. And what they're going to be doing. When we say power half hour they're gonna do their own power rankings. Each and every week it's going to be steeler oriented and they're going to be counting down so that'll be great. And you know me with casey kasem. I always love a good countdown so this is going to get power half hour. Check that out and check out all of the. Bts's shows as well. Let's get back into this now guys. Let's bring up some players. I that have shined. We're going to go around the room. Well just a with the two of you and tony. You made a mention to a guy earlier. And i'm pretty sure that you wanna talk about antoine barracks. So what are your thoughts. So far is and one brooks a starter for the pittsburgh steelers based on what he's been doing so far or is this just getting the man some extra work i think right now. It's just. It's just getting him some extra work. They're they're trying to see what they have in him. If i remember correctly from last year his draft profile he seemed to be A player without a real position as kind of how he described them from. I remember correctly so you know there's somebody that can can find a home. He's versatile obviously if he's a man with a position that means he's he could play hopefully several maybe not well but if he's a you know if he can find a way to find a niche is a slot corner for them. That's that's solves a huge problem. I mean he might not be my felton but if he can if he can play that role and you can slide cam sutton to the outside and leave him out there. I mean i think that's that could be huge. It's it's obviously too early to tell yet. I mean it's it's as shannon. It's football without pads. So but i'm gonna be really interested to see what he does Once the pastor popping and of course wants the preseason starts so care and brooms e says a brooks can hit but coverages suspect shannon. Do you think brooks is a legitimate candidate and can help push cameron sentenced to the outside like tony just said. Do you feel that. This makes that defensive backfield so much stronger and do you feel that. We were discounting antoine brooks before this preseason started when i had to write the draft article about his selection he was one of the highest rated tacklers You know college football. He's a sure tackler Excellent fundamentals that technique He's very aggressive through the ball. Big weakness is coverage and I think you run like a four six four but you guys can overcome that The way the steelers used elton. I think they would like to have brooks because he could be similar. Hilton thought was weaker coverage and he was better on everything else but he got better coverage his time went on I like arthur millette at At slot. And i think he's going to have a real shot at taking that position because he's very physical. He looks like greg. Lloyd like a smaller version of greg lloyd And he plays very aggressive. He's good blitzer. And i think you'll be end up veteran coverage and brooks so i think ended up using canada. Committee approach Especially packages you know in certain situations because works would be really good against heavy run teams like the titans or the ravens because rooks can really come up in pound that run defense but I think brooks's got a real shot to to make any impact this year. I just don't miss the full-time start. Now you brought up. Arthur millette and mike tomlin's already say an art saint him a lot. What have you noticed from. Alette the other jets defensive back that everybody wanted brian. Poole who looks like it's going to the saints now as of as of today. Possibly everybody wanted brian poole. But everybody wouldn't melik hooker in that defensive backfield as well but when you have guys like brooks and you have a guy like arthur millette. Maybe that's why they didn't go look their way because they knew what they had shannon. Yeah millette. Actually the way they fight that slot in the past without malaysia is a better than pores And he's he can actually play the or safety say gives them that position versatility and I just think that that that's why he was brought in And you know you. The people were talking about hooker but his injury tendencies You know i just. You can't count on that you know it'd be great to work that but there was a big gamble so i'm really happy with me. You know what. Tony defa was so excited when the steelers signed arthur malek because he thought his name was mullet and he had a great one of the eighties days i need. I need to see pictures of both tony. Shannon white in highschool. I need high school pictures of you guys change that much. I just had the mullet and my face was thinner. And that's about it. But i didn't change. I looked exactly like this and just a lot of hair. Well back in the eighties. I looked like the guy that people say. I am When they when a trashy online. That's what i was in my teen years with the the hair and the clothes that i wore. I don't get that. Why are they trash in your mind. Tony i find you delightful. Well thank you thank you. I don't know. I just. I try to keep it down the middle when i talk about sports so i don't know what it is probably off wanted. Gosh what you're in west. Virginia you have boots for that stuff. It's vlad any waiters. Yeah it's like the the loan sharks Limousine driver in rocky just hated rocky for no reason to rocky reference to love it. Hey let's let's talk about other guys that are shining here. Were that we need to see something of. And i'm going to bring up. I think it's jan or it could be on. It could be jenner yawn. I'm not sure if i could get it up. Why can i get it up the kebe for laughing at that. It looks like i would say jan. What do you think cassius marsh have. We every heard anything about cassius marsh in the first four days so far or has he been anonymous. Let's start with tony. I haven't heard anything Who is the guy's name it. They had a couple of years. He was kind of a veteran late twenties. He he was. He was a backup. Linebacker amy amy curl gigolo. No not him he was i kept signing him and jay. Rohn elliott elliott. That's kind of the like yeah there. Yeah like if you if you wanna glued tikolo in too. I think that's abc comparison. Because i guess you're dependent they're capable but they're not really capable of doing a whole heck of a lot. I just like you know filling in occasionally but they're not gonna make a lot of big plays that's kind of marsh reminds me of all right. We gotta do this because this is what kind of show this is. I gotta bring up port and a hear hucker. We're still talking about the shawn watson a blue massage people. I cannot confirm nor deny. I don't know all's i know is if that's the truth than Mr craft in new. England is is hoping assigned dish on Gosh woo you stop that a. Here's a guy to bring up. So let me finish up with cassius marsh. I think marsh makes this team. And i think he is your guy on special teams and he reminds me a little bit now. He's bounced around a lot but.

brooks casey hampton steelers shannon arthur millette dorey antoine barracks tony cam sutton tony just antoine brooks casey kasem greg lloyd Arthur millette Alette brian poole melik hooker Tony football millette

"The liberty but given that given it's been twenty five years. Here's the gravity for me jerry. Jones run teams in the last twenty. Five years have made the playoffs. Ten times in twenty five years only ten times said they even made the playoffs made they have missed three of the last four years for the record. So that's what. I'm dealing with right here right now but in those ten years. They did make the playoffs only four times in ten years. Did they win a playoff game and not one time in ten years making the plows. Did they ever win. One season okay. So it's just one offs for outta ten times in twenty five years and obviously not once in twenty five years. They even sniffed the nfc championship. That's devastating that's for me as a fan just the cowboy nation realm. That's just tragic. How can you be the architect of this tragedy. That has befallen cowboy nation jerry. And he has the audacity yesterday. Say i'd do anything known to man to get to super not to win it just to win the nfc and get back to a super bowl. Do anything known to man false wrong. I call you on this. Because there's one thing you will not do fire yourself goes spin top dollar whatever it takes to hire the best football man out there to be the architect of your football team because that would four shoot up into your box permanently. We're you would have to keep an arm's linked where you would have no more control. You would not own and operate the dallas cowboys. You would just own them store. You would have to hire somebody and contractually give him full rights autonomy to make every last decision the buck stops on his desk not yours. You could keep the guy could keep you in the loop but still. It's his chores. That's the only way to do. This is to go get a real live. Proven football man to rebuild this into the correct way. And you let them keep those business cards they have all those titles on his the on all right if theory someone else road and he would have to hire the coach and he would have to ultimately have control over selecting the players free agents and draft. Jerry ain't gonna do till death do him part. I'm not gonna would for jira even get let the words word out there into the universe but but he he. He lives to run this team. He cares about this. And i thought the most compelling quote remember jerry was near tears several times. He spoke for about an hour. This is their annual state. It was a little rambler salute. Little scary crazy at times because he went into some jerry. Speak that i hadn't heard before like what are you. What at me. But jerry was rambling. And jerry was getting choked up and jerry was getting teary. Eyed and jerry was close to just flat out blubbering where you just break down and start crying for the world to see and later he was asked about. Why is he so emotional or over emotional and he said i'm going to read the quote. What you're seeing is. Just how good it feels to be here doggone. He said just as much as i enjoy this stuff. I get to thinking. Well are you ever going to see that again. Because of the pandemic he faced a whole off season of we barely got to last season. And now it's starting to come back a little bit here and there. We got variants out there. And he's starting to wonder. Is it ever going to be the same again. let's give here's the thing you jerry knows. Dependent make affect people dip impacts people. Different j. wouldn't impacted by the pandemic. Dan lived in texas. They shut down nothing. Yeah but again. The media wish was restricted. Lives for the media. We're gonna do with saying you took jerry putting on zoom. How many times last year. After games do jerry stand in the hallway at gerry world. Doing a big press session media session with ninety five reporters danged up around how many times you couldn't do it anymore. So i think he was facing his celebrity mortality. Because he's saying. Are you ever see that again. He says last line. he's told him. Yesterday i was wondering. Are you ever going to be sitting up here talking to everybody again. He's just talking about the ability to do press conference was being threatened is being threatened what jerry's coming to grips with. Am i ever gonna sit up here again and have another lombardi trophy sitting to my right. Yeah that's what he's talking about. Hey no no no. But you're missing this point. He lose by saying. I'm not going to apologize for what i'm saying. But i am sensitive today and emotional about the whole show will listen. You say he likes the commas more than the ws right okay. The comms come from promoting the dallas cowboys into the most valuable franchise not in american sports in the world. I've noticed this hype master. Yes yes yes. He's marlin it. All he cares about in the end is his own celebrity. Yes he is. The most famous owner in the history of sports on george steinbrenner. Anybody you want to throw out. I'll i'll give you a. He has to radio shows a week and does a press conference after every home game and he was. He's crying over. I wondered if it would ever come back where i could sit up here in all the world would be listening and hanging onto my every word is almost like skip. A guy goes through a catastrophic injury and then he gives back to the top where once. We're let's take directly. Kevin a rag bag where he was played right. If someone tells you had rookie league status you know jerry was to get back skilled. It is i five years. Give here two super bowls. How am i ever gonna hold one of the things again. But his been any less famous over the last twenty five years without. That's what while. America loves winners. Get we love. It always drives you crazy as america's team wherever you free law. We don't celebrate guys get built plays the olympics. We've they'll be get a metal and we've really celebrate the geico meddled aware we get gold medal. Can't like you just say. They have been to the playoffs tune time they wouldn't one game they've never wanted to in the same same plane on twenty five years. Yup there you remember. They were steamrolling folks. Who what no field goal to cowboys. We're not woke up. You go there. Were rolling people. I was there mismatches. Like dale mr crafts. I would've fooled a mess this up. B e called him. Billy me and billy has you can. We're gonna talk about this later. But it's almost like he and his son steven are now on a new mission to eat humble pie before the masses. And you say okay. We give up. We screwed it up. I screwed it up. Jimmy in stephen is saying we we. We should assign him in the first go around. We didn't and steven say that's my lone regret in operating the dallas cowboys. So they're eating humble pie to try to buy some patience and some hope from their their faithful because fans are getting a little antsy here at least now the fans can sit back and say well at least. They're owning it. At least they're they're asking for forgiveness. We see teams temple the kansas city ahead. One bullet fifty fifty. They winning jared.

"That's right. I hate bringing you. Camp takes all the biggest story lines from. Nfl training camps starting with the nfc north. Aaron rodgers even be in that division tune in monday. It all begins ten eastern breaking news from adam. Schefter tweeting this off season. The packers offered aaron rodgers a two year contract extension. That would have tied him. Degreen bay for five more seasons in paid him and he become the highest paid quarterback and player in the national football league. Rogers declined the offer. Proof. it's not about the money steven. Does this mean rodgers leaves the packers. It means he's dogged about not being there Obviously if he changes his mind. We'll all be wrong. But that's what i'm inclined to believe. And as i reiterated at the top of the show. It's never been about the money you know in terms of him because he was getting paid and he was going to get paid no matter where he ended up because he's a superstar league in at the moment the reigning league. Mvp this is about the way his bosses is treated them has just treated him. And that's what this comes down to at i for one am not going to allow any. Nfl analyst to come on here again talking about football when it comes to mirages in the green bay packers. You're not getting away with this anymore. We're not going to pretend that it's about football. It's not about football. It's about the way he was treated. You know when you're on television as you both know because you're right the in studio you have camera folks produces it a behind the scenes stuff like that. Well i'm here milwaukee. Here right here in wisconsin. And i've asked people sitting around here with me. And i you know you just ask questions because it's it's really rhetorical. It's common sense if you have enough money and on top that all you know more money is coming down the pike no matter where you go and you have a boss to this treated you like trash in your mind. They have minimized. You disrespected you. They have marginalized. You have dismissed you to your face and behind your back. What are you going to do at some point in time. You're gonna say enough enough. And i know that we got jeff saturday about to come on here and respectfully because i love me some jeff saturday even though he tries to make my eight list of beat this when he knows damn well as an a list. But that's my mayor right. Let's keep in mind. we're not just talking about. We're not talking about a champion. We're not just talking about a brilliant. Nfl mind we're talking about in jeff saturday. One of the more highly respected individuals. We've seen in terms of nfl players. Just go back to the days when they were negotiating. Cb cb agreements with him and mr craft and others. We all noted the that jeff saturday commands so. I ask a simple question to you jeff. Respectfully as a as a guy that's an alum of the nfl that played in the league for years if owner a boss in the national football league dismissed you marginalized you treated you disrespect. Acted like he was just some other dude. And you knew that you were star or what have you and this is how they treated you for us. What is there to talk about it. Regards to football when it comes to that particular boss. Isn't it true that we get to a point where we're like wait a minute. We're men and there's so much more of this. i'm going to take. Yeah listen. I think you make a great point and i think what what shifty reported this morning about the extension. Why would he want to extend their that. Didn't make sense right. That's not even playing tours. The conversation he's had the one thing he's been clear clean direct about is. I don't wanna play for green bay. I mean he. He made that very clear now. The situation is how do you exit green bay and and compromise because you are in a three you still have three years on your deal to compromise to be able to get out of this situation that you no longer want to be in and listen. I understand what you're saying about this has. This has been a personal attack for ear rogers. And he's fed up and all that is true but ultimately they had here rights for the next three years. He wants to play football. He's a competitive son of a gun look odd suited up with them. Been in the huddle that god wants to play ball. He wants to win another championship so it requires him having to play in green bay for one more year to the other two years off. That's what it's gonna be or he's going to have to just completely sit and listen. I think my opinion. He's sitting for regular season games early because he does have. And this is the attachment issue. We talk about steven. He has attachments to his players. He has attachments to coaching. Like those are true relationships that he cares about and he knows for the betterment of all those guys he playing matters right he has to play for them to get to where every one of those guys know they can get to. And that's the super bowl played the nfc championship the last two years. The rub here and to your point is you're going to have to play for people you do not like and that's just part of you know and again it wouldn't you're in a contract that what you are in the nfl. He has three years remaining. He's going to have to compromise to get what he which is ultimately out of green bay. But this is a relational issue to your point. And i fully agree much. Bigger than football. This is relational from mark. Mark murphy and the general major the front office as a whole where. They have failed aaron rodgers. Well just like there's a stephen b list is that jeff friday. Take wait a minute jeff. Saturday hold on a second. Aaron rodgers have to compromise mega man to do something after soft back. I'm actually take that. What just earth call him. Jeff that's a great one banks. That is the best days jenny. Jeff the point is like i get a cap implications and all that but if we wanna i don't think let let me ask you let me pose a question. Is it pasta in the nfl in a full contact sport. Like football guys down in the trenches. Is it to win a super bowl with a quarterback who does not want to be there. Yes you can win a quarterback back. We doesn't want to be there absolutely. I'm shocked senate. Like elizabeth thursday. His town listen his his ability to play the game when he walks out there. He ain't thinking about the front office. He's thinking about the business at hand. And that is success for he and the guys around him and you could definitely compartmentalize those things players. Do all the time you come to the end of your contract. You have a rub with general manager. You know you're not gonna get re signed. This happens every day in the nfl. This is not something new. It's rare to see it on this scale with aaron rodgers but there are greater implications when you think about him not playing it all going back and getting your signing bonus all the things all the distractions that become for him does he not want to play again. That's going to be the biggest question. Because in my opinion.

And i think in all season you know everybody's confident everybody's you know super about the you know the the the possibilities of year and i'm no different so right now. I want to do the things that i know i can control. I don't wanna do things that. I know i have the capabilities to to to better myself. And that's working out daily working on diet and nutrition Staying in the book. You know making a proper necessary you know things that can benefit me in the long run when all the negativity. Obviously you know. And i know you didn't play well from past standpoint toward the end of the season last year and so much negativity about what you were at the quarterback spot but the new england patriots. Bill belichick josh mcdowell. Mr craft certainly felt that that wasn't the case they offered you a one year deal. You took it. why not. Why not test free agency in. Give you another opportunity With another team at that time. Now it's not it's not even about you know testing or doing certain things just knowing a standard right and you know for me you know. The patriots organization has been impeccable. Know with the also with addition of a patricia. He's been great as well. You know just so my time has been there. Just been everything i could've asked for. You know i guess is now time for me to uphold ended the bargain through and through. And you know doing everything that i i know i'm capable of doing stand all in my wheelhouse so i think that's what it comes down to. You know as far as the expectations from you know what app expected from bill and josh those guys they've been excellent and You know we're going to keep pushing for one thing we've noticed with bill belichick when he talks about you i mean he he raves about. I mean he's always extremely positive about you and what he expects me what he thinks. You can still do in this game. What is your relationship like with him. Now that you've gotten that full season with them off season with them. Can you describe what that relationship is like. And what you know about him. I mean it's pretty cut and dry straightforward. Dial the person who. He's a straight shooter. His expectations are what they are in. They're not. They're not this unrealistic achievement. That you know everybody would expect. It's all about preparation is all about doing things that that you are capable of doing and holding yourself up to that standard each and every day each and every practice each and every meden. And that's all you can ask from a head coach. You know it trickles down from everybody else. You know from the top of the from the top of the head to to everybody. That's in the locker room. So you know if you got a guy. That's that's you know intertwined with everything that's moving for just like you know coach. Bill is you know everybody else. You know kind of be the same. Draw cam this off season. They spent two hundred plus million dollars to go out and get you know a bunch of weapons for you whether it's a nelson aguilar with his kendrick born tied ends. They drafted running back. Bring it back white in the backfield all different things but yet still. They went out. They drafted a quarterback mack. Jones did did you know it all. Did you have any communications throughout the process that the patriots was selected quarterback in the first round. I mean you know. Kobe lesbianism been playing his game long enough to know like that's the right pig. I said it numerous numerous times. You know what you're not gonna get out of me as a disgruntled person. You know. Mac and cheese persian who is ever since i've seen him as came on into the locker room with the business approach. You know doing the initiatives of of of learning teammates understanding that you know i got to raise my level of play from the collegiate level to the professional level. And i'm here for him and as well as he is here for me just like them. Just like brian hoyer. It's no different. You know our job is to be the best player that we possibly be for the new england patriots no matter what is asked of us. It's our job to be that. So that's pretty much comes down to so when when when mac was picked there was no aerial failings in still it will Because you know competition out the best in everybody can do you look at him though as competition or do you feel like you have the confidence of who you are and that. Qb one is still what you are. Look at everybody as competition on guitars competition. You know what. I'm saying so you talk to a competitor in outlook for any and everything to drive me in push me to to migrate itself. So you know you know no no type of click bait to just say you know my mac and cheese or in can views him as as competition. I look at everything competition. I look at last season's production as competition. So yeah i take it personal yacht. Taking you know in a in a way that i know who i am. You know at time you know. At times i do for you know. Remind myself people forget who you are what you've done so now you know i'm i'm in a position now where you need to be my best self and and really put up a shut up used to that guy. I mean you know you sound like it. Are you still early in the season before you dealt with cova. There were signs of that player. That we we grow to love in the nfl. Like do you really feel physically mentally. You're still that guy. I think it. Snow is no proven that right. Now you know. And that's where. That's where i'm at mentally. That's where i met you know and understand understanding that you know now with multiple were a couple of months before the season. Everybody's looking for something to to to get excited about a rave about our. Just say oh man as you know. We don't need to be talking like this or he doesn't need to be talk like this in early july but you know the truth is is. I'm doing everything that. I know to get myself to the position where i know where i need to be. And that's just the put this team the best football games and that's all that matters.

Training camp was truncated. And you went through some stuff from the second half of the season from covy standpoint. How you fill in right now house the shoulder filling everything's good. "Do we have now. Let's see is it. I wrote it down days. Man through it is eight days here. I'm so i think it's a seven day seven days so basically week away nine for tampa and then it's like what thirteen seven ten thirteen so thirteen days. Everybody's in kansas. Everybody goes at once. That was always the interesting thing about training camp. Because it was stagger. The i was always. I think i was always the last teams to go in. I never was like the first team. Ever 'cause i never afraid he's are the however played in the hall of fame game. Believe it or not and Yeah i was always like the last group to go into training camps so i had luxury of steel chilling. Everybody else's sweat but you're getting ramped up for camp now. Everybody's gives up at can't get in shape. I feel like well when you in tampa in tampa you go in tampa bay out of say. Yeah you're right man shake humidity. Oh man this thing of beauty. Well let's see so what we're talking about today. As i mentioned is the windows closing. I mentioned the packers. If there's no aaron rodgers windows closing it would you say like let's just again you now starting to buy the idea that aaron rodgers return but if he does let's say he just i don't see the windows closing on them. If in fact. Aaron rodgers their. Because i think they're young enough football team around collectively the jordan love can potentially but potentially can grow into the position. They're young enough when you think about davante adams and lazar just drafted amari rogers. They just got aaron jones at the running tinny clark on defense alexander deep. They're young they're not old so i don't think the window is closed. I think it just looks different. It certainly does with a quarterback that doesn't have any experience at all grow into the position if he's any good if if he's any good as i don't know what he is all right so you're not buying that would throw that out. How about the pittsburgh steelers. When a captain obvious absolute windows close. Yeah window window is going to be closing very fast. It's like right at the edge. We you still get the breeze coming in. but it's not all the way. That's what pittsburgh is at minnesota vikings. Same same with pittsburgh because i think when you look at home or your cousins or got kirk. Cousins you got mike zimmer you know you got to dalvin cook feeling jefferson you know you start to look at them. They can be better but if they don't go and if they don't cash in this year i think it's a different situation going forward and twenty twenty two. Yeah i mean this division. Gale we on the caveat of no aaron rodgers if no aaron rodgers if you're minnesota this is the time the strike. But they've been there. I mean we've seen them. They've also gotten a lot of fortune in the postseason as well you know. When do they finally break through. This has got to be the year you think. What about the vegas raiders win at the if they don't do something this year i it's because the clock is ticking. Gruener he's you can't. You can't keep tenure deal hoping that doesn't mean you can't tell me that They don't have an out somewhere in that contract. That says you know when we're out of here and if they could just eat that and keep it moving because you go. Ten year plans with every coach in the national football league. I'll be like a couple of years. But his voice is something he's got to be four in on this five. How many years in. they're not good. No that's not my point. My point is that how much more time like. You're saying how much jack del rio hannam as a playoff-caliber one down year group came in and blew it up and wanted to his way. He's gotten the opportunity to do it his way at some point at some point you gotta turn show me something. They don't give coaches. What the contracts say in the national football league other than cincinnati bengals and marvin lewis other than that. You gotta be winning like mike. Tomlin and bill belichick on a consistent basis every single year to keep your job. They just fired a do. They want super bowl and philadelphia. That's right come only three years later. Are you mentioned. Bill belichick patriots window. I don't i don't know if the windows closed on the patriots yet. Whether it's cam newton a whether it's mac jones because i think that long term philosophy is still in play for bill. It's not a short term game. Issa long-term game two years ago. Two years ago i was having a conversation. Somebody in the works in the front office with the patriots and he was talking. We were just talking shop and he was saying what bill was had been working. 'cause i was like man. When is coach gonna retire bill working stuff ten years from now seriously. This was at this one. That's what i meant when i was like the patriot. Way whole thing again. No patriot thing is something that took a hit. When tom brady left in won a super bowl and they didn't have a great season. So that's why. I patriot ways anymore. Way started based on belichick in mr craft and everybody going out there getting players that kinda was at the end of their careers and getting a rebirth for a little bit of money. That's when the patriot way started the tennessee. Titans addict a victim of move. I mean they're just the. I don't think i think i think a window to two years ago. It was like they were team is to really contend. They are continue. Don't mean that they're going to get past cleveland or indianapolis now and their division as well as kansas city. I mean they're good football team. But i'm not betting money on them interesting so key agrees with some but not all what a big surprise say. Stop doing.

"Says he knows the source of that report is highly reliable. He said. He's been looking back over more than three years or five coverage, and he's never seen me provide quote, truthful and consistently reliable information. Quote in my opinion. You should write fiction, and then he addressed all of the reporters in the room and said. All of you legitimate journalists, and I say this with respect can do a much better job than that source of information. One of the other reporters brought Mr Crafted back to the side and said, Okay, But as the report true, and his answer was, I have no further comment on that. Wow. Wow. That's far aware, uh and he's remarkably consistent because Went back and checked in the last four years. I've written 120 stories about him more than twice. And, uh, for the last 22 months, he and his, um people in his office of all refused to talk to me. There's a reason why they've all refused to talk to me. And there's a reason why Mr Krasner couldn't answer the simple question of did she Lamar Stewart being FBI agent over on Lincoln Drive yesterday and then take off when he saw this with that, and the answer is Krauser. Can't he's running from his His own record is indefensible. The stories that I've written about him. Well, you know, I've written so many stories about him mostly, uh about, uh, dangerous on the dangerous people that he's let criminals that he let out of jail that have gone out and hurt. Build remained other people and Those stories were taken from court records. Police reports and court transcripts and he can't refute those. So I've got a message for Mr Krasner. Um and maybe you can help me publicize this. Christine, both And here's why I have to say to Mr Craster, Um The point to whatever in that story about the Lamar Stewart isn't true and prove its false. Um and then when you When you get through with that go through the stories that I've written about you for the last four years more than 120 of them, and you find me Mr Kraft there. Story. That is false improve it. Okay. And I say you can't because you're running from your own records. Okay. If you police records, you can't receive court transcripts and court records. Which is why you have fallen on the age old solution. Thing to say in your defense of attack the messenger and if you can't prove anything I've written is false. Then Mr Krasner Energy from you at your next press conference. And if you don't you know, it's one of the other. It's put up or shut up time. Prove what you say. Or you apologize, and it better be a public apology around. Yeah. You know what, Ralph? I'm glad you said that because, um, And I'm glad you you mentioned the fact that he addressed the other journalists in the room as legitimate journalists. I don't know who was in the room. But if there were any inquire journalists there I think that that that was the fiction that he was referring to, Um, I'm going to segue way in a second into that as to why I'm saying that And why you've you've establishment I've written about it as well. Um, but the fact is Larry Krasner is someone who has skated in the media in this area and you are one of the if not the only actual journalist who has pointed out time and time again with facts with legitimate sources. The banality of his office. His, uh, the the treatment that he has given to his own employees, which is, you know a slap on the wrist when they have committed crimes such as child endangerment. Is one of his ideas. And he wrote about that, uh, such as a d A. Who engaged in porn videos with an ex girlfriend and then had her home burglarized to get those videos so that he, you know, it wouldn't damage his reputation. Um, another Ada who I think shot or stabbed his escort and murdered that escort and there were no charges that were filed. I mean, over and over and over again. Yeah, that was his gun Violence coordinator. It's even better. It was his gun Violence coordinator who arranged the trust with a male prostitute. Box during office hours, and then he ended up shooting and killing the guy when it turned into an alleged robbery, So yeah, Larry doesn't Behavior of the people in his office. I mean, I didn't make up these stories. Um, one who's to 88, who are over, got caught lying in court, and we're admonished by judges and I wrote about it. And, of course, the Enquirer didn't I didn't make that those stories when Greg Pagano, who was Inspect their former chief inspector Karl Homes, Um, you know, let Krasner up for having head and not disclosed personal conflicts of interest in his pursuit of homes. Um, you know, I wrote about that The acquirer didn't I didn't make that up. They were all drawn from court records. So so present. From his own records. He knows it's indefensible. And I'd like to point out that I'm not the only reporter in town who was, you know, going after crash doing written critically about him? I mean, state Majkowski has been managed. Has Jenny to help over it really weekly did Um, you know, Well, we're all working from public records here, and, uh, Krasimir can't defend his own record, so he runs his friends. The Philadelphia Inquirer, his fellow progressive buddies, and they cover up for that's true and I do stand corrected. I mean, you did mention and stew and Jenny are friends of mine as well. And they're they're you know, they're they're exceptional, but I think In terms of a consistent and a sustained series of fact filled articles about what Krasner has done. You, um you know, big trial really does stand out and I've written about Krasner, but it's all opinion. I mean, mine has never been, uh, in fact based other than what has been in the public record, but it's more of an opinion. I think the problem and now we can get into that other segue into that other topic that I was mentioning. I think that we unfortunately have a city. Where the paper of record the Enquirer and, to a lesser extent, The Daily News, which has basically been pretty much cannibalized by the Enquirer has now decided that they are going to be kingmakers and they are going to decide who is going to be in public office in the city of Philadelphia. They are no longer going to do accurate. Reporting. And the reason I say that is because of a manifesto disguised as an op ed that was published by The the CEO and the publisher of the Enquirer a couple of weeks ago where she came out and admitted openly admitted that there were steps that we're going to be taken at the Enquirer that we're going to skew reporting. That we're going to hide stories of a certain nature and that we're going to basically change the way that news was delivered, meaning that they were going to under report crime. In communities of color because they didn't want to cast a negative light on those communities that they were going to try and hide and send down the memory hole stories that were negative that that would report on. Minor crimes so called minor crimes that were committed in these communities of color, and they never defined what minor crime was. I'm assuming minor crime is not shooting a child through the head. Um And it was just so egregious. And you wrote about this. I wrote about it in Philly weekly. But before that you wrote about that in big, big trial dot net. Can you explain? I mean, is this normal journalistic ethical standards that a paper is going to make its reporting arm into an op ed and editorial?.

"mr. craft" Discussed on Scoops with Danny Mac

"In matter of fact. I remember one of the things i learned. I talked about this last night. Now ms lock in one day's script to teach you about forgetting past learning front but forgetting it and in martin and big old my coaching the senior bowl was the kansas city coaches staff. The late morning shot nine staff. The a bad coach was coach. Tony dungy and i didn't have a good senior bowl. These cats would catch them. Plas only Elven elven harpen. Those guys they will kill him out there from the southern university hills. But i remember maurice hammer said to me. He said son. If you're going to play this league you're going to have to develop him nisha. You'll going to have to forget a bad play. Learn from it and get the next play. So when i read that capstan i had to get up out trainer room. Forget my stomach hurting. I need to go look at that film. Learn how these guys were beating me and they get back and that's the key to any profession anything that you're doing big. Oh i don't know if you've ever give up a sack but certainly if you did you had to learn from it and get back out as if it never happened and was probably one of the best things that we learn professional sports. You don't get to the hall of fame because you don't have a bad play. Our game we get there because of the consistency in a willingness to learn from it forget it and treat the current plate as if nothing ever happened and it to your point. That's one of those things that it's very difficult to teach young player right because they get caught a young player. You get caught up in a man. I just stop where. I blew that assignment or something. The great players all tell you one play in clear. We're done with that playing we're onto the next play which is great which is great advice that i like to share with my kids as well and i just want to say one thing to i got you on Follow you on social media the year of the door inspiring inspiring words every morning. I know you've been hit the gym lately. Just explain what what that is. It was important coming any twenty twenty one and i just listened to you some more than a. It's really inspiration from me as well what i can remember you telling me a story coach. Hannifin your off the line coach in this when i hope i don't tear up because people realize the difference between people are the people that coach him or the meant was that they have and forget you share with me the shutout to the late german right that when he comes in he tells you you're the first pick in the draft. He comes in the room and tells you. Correct me if i'm wrong. And he tells he tells the big. If you don't get in a hall of fame it won't be because of meat in win. So what he simply will say. Was you have the talent. I know a good coach. And if you do it you put the work in if you do it. You're going to get the results of what he said. And at the end of the day no matter how we feel good bad you got. You have to do something. Different man man. I had to learn the skill but then we soon as we learned the skill we gotta go out and practice it and and in an unscripted says be a door of the word. Not just a hero. It's easy a deception is 'cause i know it. There's some kind of delusion and he'll be us to think that we don't but it's not until we do that we get the stage. I have to work on my attitude among patients with my children and my family right. I gotta do it right. I can't pray that all right. Go pray law and have a great attitude. I have the work on it. So that's what. I mean every day this year of the door man. Whatever you're doing just do you gotta do it. Nike says well. I just do it. And if you don't do what we just talk you one thing about that level. You can't talk this right big. You can't right. You can't talk this. You can't talk and be a good anchor mark. Martin you spend time developing crap yet to do something. And that's what i mean by bill. Yeah greg words advice man of inspiration. Man i appreciate that. Oh did you hear. I think in cut out on zoom. He said you gave up a sack lunch or something that he doesn't understand on this show. There is no acknowledgement canal ever given so. That's the point. That matt plays forgotten the next play notice big. I said you may have given a bigger. I think i picture our land on monday. Going into the coach's room. And saying that sac my ass marci blitz and back the running metro say the narrow orlando samaras so in recent weeks we talk super bowl. We talked patriots tom. Brady in aeneas The great carla pace is not over the loss to the patriots. Because she didn't want tom brady to win. Even though he's in tampa now she holds a grudge. I like a woman who holds a grudge. But we said wait a minute aeneas cadillacs patriots. How could he wrap his head around that after losing to them. Marshall still bitter that the take the walk through. Tell us about your patriot friendship. how what. Well let's let's. Let's let's go anytime winning. And regardless of what people think it turns out they did things legal Deflate gate Spy gate and all that kinda stuff at the end of the day. Even once they got caught they still have found a way to consistently win when it comes down to tom. Brady when you see this this quarterback gold from the patriots. Because it's always been bella. Checked and tom brady right so now he leaves there and goes to a totally different team. Coach bruce arians and bruce areas listening to him. When they ask bruce eras persuade. Tom brady to come to your team. Bruce areas sale when. I talked to tom. Tom new every player on our team. So tom already knew they had ingredients do it. And all they will listen. What was a quarterback and when you see greatness anybody who sees greatness greatness bhagat's great when you become great at something you love seeing the greatness and other people because people gravitate the winning clubs. Unless they're haters a martin kilcoyne. But i digress but the majority of human being is always even if they don't know how to do something they get attracted to the michael jordan's lebrons lebrons even if they don't necessarily know if they can do. It is something about that when we love seeing something that's exceptional inspires us and that's one of the things i like about tom brady now. It mountain news. Are you at tom. Brady fan you're patriots fan. You more tom brady or i know you know you mr craft and you guys are good friends now you which what is it you know. I am really a principled fan. Okay alright bella checks. Because i i asked a lot of questions in dig for meal. Didn't hear right all the principles. It doesn't matter who they are. One thing i heard bella check always does is make sure everybody understands is about. That sounds so they. Everybody played teams understand standards about the team. Not necessarily when you guys who want their stats. Who who want to be great. Sometimes they think greatness is in spite of the team. But i don't know you tell it better than me. What was the difference that dick eventually got.
