There was a great column written by Adam Coleman, a young black American about this lie that Kamala Harris is perpetuating. We had a chance to catch up with Mr. Coleman himself. Let's start with the big lie. I understand the bromide, well, you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it. But this is way deeper than that, isn't it? Yeah. I mean, it is way deeper and it's actually something, you know, she didn't invent this. This is something that, to be honest with you, Democrats have been doing for a number of years. I'm a former Democrat myself and it's one of the things that pushed me away from the It's the constant usage of black Americans to weaponize it as some sort of emotional leverage for other Americans to dictate how they vote, to dictate who they hate. And I honestly get tired of it, but at this point, I think it's important for someone like myself and many others to point out how this manipulation is happening, not just with black Americans, but with identity groups. Identity politics has ruined politics in general. You write in your column, there are some lies that set the groundwork for political dialogues surrounding a topic solely for the purpose of making their adversaries fight an uphill battle to disprove a false narrative or statement and attempt to slow down a fast-moving and well-traveled lie. I spoke to a liberal friend of mine last night, lives in New York City, 11 o'clock last night. He said, can't believe you guys, you're willing to defend a party that wants to erase Emmett Till from our memory. So in other words, you talk about a well-traveled lie, it has already resonated with millions of Americans, Adam. Yeah, exactly. "From home back to school and then from home again. She made time for each her kids individually just to visit and share. She loves teaching. She said up backdrops to make her bedroom slash. Immunotherapy scans travel more scans fatigue the waiting but she's the most upbeat positive person i've ever known she's been through lifestyle and she always says. The teacher's name is jessica apple and rachel writes. This is my son's teacher from the twenty twenty one school year lester. My children learned online separate from students. Who went to in person. School determined to keep my son involved with his classmates who dearly missed miss apple went above and beyond she frequently delivered items like books and materials for stem projects. Right to our door. She called to check in with us every week. She organized her students to write birthday cards from my son's half birthday in december. Since he has a summer birthday she made sure to include him in every possible. Way which wasn't required to do miss apple is a special teacher who teaches her. Kids skills tab a growth mindset. As forty five year old adult and my biggest reason for not being able to move forward was my inability to pass algebra no matter how many times i took it. I the same results failing during my one last time to take it. My professor saw how much work. I was putting in and still not getting anywhere. She recommended a class taught by jeannie weston at lake superior college and adult education class that went back to basics when i say basics i mean learning to add subtract multiply divide schwantz every student to learn how wipe things were done and develop that routine and she did it with respect for each student. Making every student feel amazing. Genie stated in in the beginning that no one failed her class and she'd be right with me till the end. Of course. I was filled with doubt during the semester. I was proven wrong. I not only pastor class. I understood the material and had fun. Never would. I thought it was possible from there on. I went and passed my first algebra class in at my age it was so overwhelming it was a milestone. I didn't think i'd see. I've been pretty lucky with my employment and health care. And i own my own dog grooming business passing. That class was a huge accomplishment. And i owe it all to genie weston my hero. She teaches at lake superior. College in duluth minnesota. Mr coleman is the dean of the math department at queens grant high school. he's fantastic. All the students loved him cares about each and every one he actually gives them his cell phone number and tells him they can text him with math questions at anytime. He checks in with students to see how they're doing in their other classes. If he sees grades are slipping. He talks with the student to find out. Something else is going on in their life. That needs attention. He makes sure that all students get praised and feedback. Not just the ones in the top percent of the class if that student is struggling. Mr coleman helps make a plan of action. Rarely raises his voice. He soft-spoken manners of bombed so many distress students and no student goes hunger with him on campus. He always brings extra food for kids. Who need it is a teacher. Mr coleman is a teacher a father a grandfather and a mentor. He goes to sports games. That our students are in always having to travel. Because we don't have a gem. He didn't start out as a teacher worked at ibm. For thirty years developing nuclear submarines and that technology but he decided to have a second career as teacher and every june. He plays the piano at graduation guiding his kids as they walked to his graduation mark and beams with pride lot of teachers. Common gone at queens at queens grant high school but no one's made a bigger impact on students than ivory. Coleman were so lucky to have mr coleman we want. I'm out of here. What do you do to get people to stick around. You remember that post. I i that post that i told you about where some some guy said if you work long long hours skip vacations miss family time and work really really hard. You can end up like me. A mid level manager at state farm as a fine company. nothing against that but Sometimes you know the payoff is not what you thought it would be. I read in the wall street journal. They did an article about What's it like going back to the office because some places are encouraging employees. Despite this terrible second The virus that's sweeping. The nation are encouraged people to come back if they can in this one office i guess they had about thirty employees and they said not everybody is going to come back but we have core people that need to come back. And there's about ten of them and They spoke to these people about how they felt after a year and a half going back into the office and they were very tentative. And you hear the same things. I didn't know if i could interact as well. Socially i felt awkward Just speaking to people they said i had to get used to the fact that there is a view the device that looks like a roomba that goes throughout the office all day. Long to try to keep it sanitized. I had to get used to sanitizing my desk before. I left for the night and one person said somebody came in the second day and brought a box of dunkin donuts and.

I'm doing well. How are you today? Better than I deserve. What's up? And high. Mr Coleman. I want to say First of all, it's a pleasure to talk to you guys. And I want to also say a huge thank you to you, Uh, Mr Ramsey because of you and your principles, not only have my husband and I have been able to Pay off debt and you know, with a lot of hard work and a literal prayer miracle we were able to pay off our debt and be debt free. Six months early. Yeah. He thinks, and that's also freed me to pursue. You know this God given cough that I have to, um, open a Christian school right outside of our nation's capital. So I'm really excited about all of us that cool. Wow. Which leads me to my question. Flash problem. Last week, I was listening and you told a young lady. That you really want to rewrite this narrative that in order to do righteous work, you have to be broke. And I completely agree. I feel like you shouldn't have to be. Um, but the problem that I see, particularly for private schools and especially Christian schools, is that There's a revenue problem. Um, most Christians will most private schools rely almost 100% on tuition. And, um, that poses a problem because you can't pay teachers what they deserve to be paid. Um, can I think you said the national average is about 60,000 and I know in many schools Teachers in private schools, especially Christians, getting paid less than that, and in order to pay them more. You typically have to hike up tuition, but then that's breaking the backs of the people that you truly want to serve. And so I just wanted to know what are your thoughts and how we can Fix this problem and rewrite this narrative because I 100% agree with you. I just can't think of the solution. How old is the school? And how many students do you have? So, um, it is I'm actually in an interesting situation. I am just joining the school. The school has been running for 21 years. It's a niche school for students with learning differences from sixth grade through 12th grade, and the hope is to grow that, um, ultimately from pre sported 12th grade in the coming years. The car. And what's the cost of tuition right now for 60 approximately $20,000 a year. So if you were going to pay teachers more have you run a model out as to how that would affect your tuition. So I have not honestly, um, this miracle kind of just happened where I'm just now starting with this job, But I will say that, um, from our what I know of our finances. Right now, most of that goes towards teachers, salaries and, um And the reason that the tuition is what it is, is that, um, to cover those things, but we tend to not when you include Jesus and a lot of things. You don't get a You don't really qualify for a lot of the grant or other things that he's done, but I have not. Okay, so first thing. First thing. I think you got to run the model. Okay, Because you've got to really see all right. If we were raised the salaries of our teachers by X amount of dollars, you just run the numbers. And then you've got to play that out. You got to know what you're dealing with First. The second thing I would recommend is that I think, by the way, I'm very, very drawn to your mission. I have a child that that requires some special education services. And I love what you're doing. And these families almost come to this school almost as a last resort. It's It's a real oasis. I'm guessing and, yeah, so couple of things you got going on there because of the demand of that. I think you've got to look at separate fundraising. I think you've got to really come over the model where we're going to. We're going to offset tuition by. We're going to get really serious about raising money, and then you're going to get to some high net worth individuals That's going to take some time. But I think that's got to be a strategy. Long term. And then, um, I would also tell you that, uh, part of this is, uh, opening up more space. If you can do that, when you get more kids than it kind of scales out so There's really no silver bullet answer. But, um, I think that if you can make the case over time, and you're winning for these families, and it doesn't get too ridiculous, um, I think with those three strategies, you can get those salaries up into at least the average in your area. How many teachers do you have? Um, we have about six teachers. Some of them are part time. Some are full time. Six teachers. Yes, And how much and even for me. I'm the vice right now. We have, like 22 kids. Mhm. Well, Yeah, I thought it was much larger than that. Now we're at 22 pretty small. And so if you raise the six teachers $10,000 that would be $60,000. Divided by 22 would be $3000 a piece. That's the model he's talking about. Okay? And then you say, Oh, wait. We're gonna raise it $5000 because we have some kids. We want a scholarship. Right, And that's there are a few that are on a financial assistance will be a few more because you're bumping up from 20 to 25. Yeah, and you know, and you're going to raise your but that's an example of how you'd model the math out. Um, of how to play into it and decide from there. Um You probably and again the type of care and what you're plugged into. I don't know. I'm not an expert on that world just from a business viewpoint, though, uh, having run stuff with six people or 60 people having run stuff with now 1000 people on our team. Um, you will get some economies of scale. That will help your situation as well. If, for instance, you could double your enrollment and double your teaching staff. Yeah. Now you're not gonna do that in 20 minutes. But over time if you had 50 students instead of 25. Things are going to work a lot easier, because right now every single Check that is written by a student for tuition by a parent for tuition. Uh, is a back breaker. If it doesn't come in. You are because you're spread across so few people. And so your risk your volatility is a much higher on a percentage basis. Everyone is living more by the threat by a thread rather than there's no wiggle room, which, as you get a little bit more scale, you've got a little bit more marginal little bit more slash That you can do and still still be responsible with your salaries and with your other, but I think a combination between uh some students are going to get served by the higher tuition. What has Senator Ted Cruz really done for Texans? All right. Give us give us the high points of of your commentary. Your opinion piece, Mr Coleman. You know, I think the answer to that question basically is not much. I think anybody who's followed Ted Cruz's career. On. I think an increasing number of Texans. Maybe even some Republicans are realizing that Ted Cruz is all about Ted Cruz. I did a review of his legislative record. He's been in Congress for eight years. Has two bills. One was a reauthorization of NASA, which is a pretty routine. Endeavor and they've got another bill passed. That was a It was a bill that would prevent any known terrorists from serving as ambassadors to the United States. So that was another slam dunk. But you know, he's not a he's not a legislator. He's not a conciliator. He doesn't seem to be much of a worker. You know, he's all about Ted Cruz. He's panderer of the highest order, and I think you know everything that unfolded prior tune around the January 6 riots in the capital really brought that into sharp relief, and we just thought it was Important Just kind of looking like, what is this guy doing? And that was basically you know, the premise of my article was that you know, we got hit. You know the right with the week I read the article. We it was announced it. 50 Texas hospitals were filled to capacity with Cove in patients. Um and, uh Something else again. I'm drawing a blank on that, but basically in what is Ted Cruz doing about? You know this lack of anything good happening in Texas. He got on Twitter and got into a juvenile spat with the actor Seth Rogan. You know, he took a picture of him praying pick photo of himself. Massless. You know what some of these National guardsmen who came to protect the capital and part from riot that you know from a riot that he helped inflame. S so basically, it's like, what are you doing, Senator Were you doing for Texas? And you know, as I looked into it more. I think that the obvious answer is not much. All right. I'm not sure if the audio is growing up here. I thought you said in eight years he's got two bills passed. That's correct. Yeah. On his any pictures on Twitter fight with Seth Rogan. Yeah. Yeah, And you know, I did a little comparison. I didn't put that in the article actually was just it was a little too far. Now he beat A Democrat and man eventually ran for president from Texas by a skin. It was single digits right in the last election. We thought maybe you could come back and catch him. So what is I mean, he's hanging by a thread. According to You Know your article your your commentary, but Why? I mean, if he does nothing for Texas is that because he's Republican, and that's it. I think that's a big part of it, You know, and he really makes a big point of, um you know, being Obstinate and being a roadblock in front of anything Democrats like to do, and we have lots of it's a very deep red state. Lots of Republicans who You know, you know, look at the center like that, Who Who's really in sees his main job is to stop the Democrats from accomplishing anything. They like that. Instances of this historically where this can be shown to have happened in this country. In the united states of america there was a thing called the catholic league of decency and it and the league of decency interested in film and the league of decency did a lot of good things by way of keeping hollywood executives from publishing what was called filth or smut in the films and and the legion decency was so powerful at one time that they could call on all catholics to boycott a particular theater or particular film or particular chain of theaters and they would literally bring hollywood executives to tears because they lost lots and lots of money over this so the bishops actually had moral authority. They used their moral authority. And they kept smut out of the films in the late sixties fifties. The hollywood was pushing the envelope. More and more resisting. This i think fifty seven was the first time an actual porn film made its way into mainstream theaters of remembering the year right. I won't even give the name of the film by the way it's famous but i think just naming it is disgusting But that was kind of a landmark year and of course in the in the sixties with the sexual revolution the church simply ceded ground. totally seated. ground I mean i shouldn't say totally on. There were notable exceptions but there was a large seating of ground in the church and the sexual revolution when it invaded the church. And you had notable catholics notable catholic clerics and so forth falling prey to it The exodus from the re- from the religious life and priesthood that that followed vatican tufo in sixty eight sixty nine and so forth. So i really think that there's a particular case in point. You can study the history of the catholic league of decency and how it fell into total oblivion. The church had a powerful voice against smut in in in that particular art form film and it was very effective and churchman ended up Completely ceding ground and not even caring anymore. That's right brother. I was actually going to make reference also to the motion picture. Production code popularly known as the hays code okay believes instituted in nineteen thirty four and how to largely around the same time that you referenced. Fifty seven late late fifties early sixties where. They started pushing the envelope once again And people talk about the hays code. Well, I guess a little background information. My wife and I are both retired and we were blessed to be able Tonto. Completely build and pay for a vacation home a number of years ago. Wonderful. We actually we actually bought this little state the property about 30 years ago and then Built a vacation home there about a decade ago. And as life has progressed, we decided last year to sell that vacation home. It was never used his rental property. It was just a family getaway. Um, currently, and for the last several years. My wife and I had been blessed beyond belief and are able to live on. Nickels and dimes pretty much And I've never been able to find an answer to how to calculate the capital gains on the sale of that vacation home or if capital gains will actually need to be paid. There will be when I brought Filed taxes. Check with your tax advisor. Check a taxi LP a day, Ramsey dot com But your basis is what you paid to build it. Plus what you paid for the land. And you because you know you're not appreciated it at all. No, sir. That's correct. But what I've seen is that capital gains taxes are zero up to a certain level of income for married couples filing jointly. And so I guess my question is does the sale and the proceeds of that vacation hold count as Income during that particular year that it was sold. I don't know. I'm not very good at taxes. I'm sorry, Billy. I think it does as far as I understand, but I want you. I really want to get some professional advice on this so you don't have investment income. Way do have retirement. We have retirement income, but we've not taken any proceeds from the retirement income yet, so none of it. None of it's taxable right now. No, any of my I raise and on that sort of thing I rolled over. Based on your advice. I rolled over my 401 K and the pension plan when I retired about 6.5 years ago, too. Our race, But we've been again fortunate that we've not had to take any procedure withdrawals from those retirement accounts. Um So my guess is it's going to be taxable at a capital gains rate. I do not know whether the incomes gonna count. I think it will count and we'll drive you up into that. And so you're probably gonna have a 15% capital gain on the Actual gain. What do you think you've got in the property? Well, we way actually sold it for 360,000. And as close as I could calculate our, um what we paid to have a home built and paid for the property is about 200,000. Okay, So you got 160,000. And the only question is how much is tax was gonna be on it or how much of it's gonna count towards this equation, you know? Yeah, I The truth is I You know, I know you don't. I know you have a game there. I don't know with you having virtually no income when you're gonna able to duck under the 15% or not, And that's a technical tactical question.
