"Describe the woman is being possibly eastern, European or Hispanic, roughly five FT two inches tall with the medium build and blonde hair. She speaks Spanish and has light brown colored eyes, not a lot of details on the spiritual or witchcraft services that they received. But If you are paying high amounts of money, I know that being victimized for money is never a good thing. But where When does it switched to the person who's spending thousands of dollars on a witch craft service right that they then are on the hook a little bit for some of the money that they've spent? Sure buyer beware. You should know when you're spending your money on witchcraft services there. I would say, probably not going to give you good results or return on investment. Give her data Which you ever like. Date? A girl who was like in a witchcraft but I had the weirdest I had the weirdest which experience of my entire life. We lived in Michigan. We came to. We came to vacation in Pompano Beach from Michigan for a Christmas right and we made friends with this kid. I don't remember his name, but he was Was kind of a dick. But we made a friend with a kid who was around our age. She was a teenager. I'll never forget He had these bright flame. These bright flame bathing suits he was wearing all around. We were in the hot tub, right? OK, it's us teenagers. And there was this girl who he who had been hanging around with us kind of and in the hot tub, he said. Something really mean to her, and I don't remember exactly what it was, but I think he called her a slut or something like that. And she said. I'm a witch. I'm gonna put a spell on, you know? Yeah. So that was like day one day two of the of our trip. Within the next day. This kid just went missing like we didn't see him at all. And so his mom was down by the pool, and we asked, Hey, where is so and so And she said he got terribly sick. We actually have toe call, you know, Cut our vacation short, his his throat swelled up. We had to take him to the emergency room. We're actually heading home today. And I mean, it could be completely unrelated. But at that point in my life, I truly believe that that which Lady put a spell on him. Um, my experiences way lamer than that when I was working in restaurants I met a girl at the table and I asked her out, and we went out and when I showed up at her house, she said, I knew you were going to call and ask me out. I said, how is that should? Well if this might freak you out, but I'm in the witchcraft and I wrote your name in a circle. And that means you were going to call me within 24 hours, and you did. I looked at her and I took her right to the beach. And I left her there, I said now. Or a sandwich. Does any of that true everything except for the sandwich have handle each cold Focal, The podcast the case They were listening to leave me alone about the podcast. It gets into there's there's a witchcraft I in this episode. Hell, yeah, no spoilers. It's funny how quick things can change in the sports world and in the world In general this morning when I sent Drew an email, I said, Maybe this means that Antonio Brown is not coming back to the Buccaneers because it was being reported by many that the Buccaneers did not want to deal with the impending lawsuit for his for the sexual misconduct allegations. Well within 45 minutes of sending that article, it was announced. Antonio Brown has settled the civil sexual assault lawsuit with an ex trainer who accused him and it is now being reported by Rick Stroud that we could be seeing an announcement from the Buccaneers any time now that the two Have reached an agreement. The A statement from the law firm's working The case detailed Brown and Britney Taylor, becoming friends nearly a decade ago before being involved in aggressive litigation statement goes on to read having reflected on the relationship. Both feel that the time has come to move on. Antonio is grateful for Britney's excellent training assistance. They're pleased than Antonio is doing so well with the table Babe Buccaneers and won a Super Bowl. Their dispute is resolved, and they wish each other great continued success to Ching man. I mean, that is some aggressive wording. Not just they figured it out there making it sound as if they're BFFs now in there. That's part of the language of the settlement Shut Ching. Taylor Taylor Suit Brown in September of 2019. Not long after you've been released By the Raiders and subsequently signed to the Patriots, alleging The 32 year old at sexually assaulted her on three separate occasions. In 2017 and 2018. But now it's just a big misunderstanding. Where is a weird question to ask, But you know where do you the but hold? The woman now. Oh, and I mean in in regards of We're not talking about some weird, questionable thing. You're talking about sexual assault on three separate occasions and now You've come to peace with with releasing a statement that makes it sound like your friends. I mean, is there something to be said for I can't deal with this anymore? It's just I almost have a problem. More of a problem with The statement making it sound like they're chummy than the money she probably got so The statement and the money and all that probably goes into the healing process for her, So I'm I'm hesitant to speak on it. Whatever she needs to bring closure to the situation and move on with her life is what she should do. Yeah, so Yeah, I just wonder, is it Is it such aggressive money Throwing that at some point you just You feel like you're doing a disservice to your future and your family's future. If you don't take this money, maybe. I mean, it's it's almost. It's like a second. Assault in a way we've got so much money. You can't deny it. And we're even gonna make people think that you guys are buddies. Now. I just wonder what has to go into making a woman feel OK to do that Great question. Um, we're still mourning the loss of DEA. "Services and one of Chicago's most prominent restaurant terrors, As it turns out, Um, What's the next move here, Mysterio. How do you How do you play this from your vantage point. Still, Okay From the beginning of the year, I liked banks and financial because I thought, um, I thought the Yorker was going to Stephen. It has. I think that that move is probably going to continue, So I'm staying with that. I do. I'm not ready to ditch the commodity trade. You guys were talking about copper and the unbelievable moving copper and tell you something about gold. Everyone thinks gold is going down. And it is. I called a couple gold dealers because I You know, I don't really deal in physical gold. But I remember I asked the first guy like if I was selling. Can you pay 5% over spot? He was like hell, yeah. Sorry about that. And I found out that gold is trading at like 10% almost over spot. In the physical market, So there's there's people who are worried about inflation. It is showing up in commodities, so I'm still going to stay long. Those things I'm still going to stay a little bit long Bitcoin. We talked about that with you old guys last week, and I'm still staying with that trade a little bit. I don't know what Bitcoin is 100%, but I know that a lot of people seem to think it's a good proxy for the dollar and I'm not Not putting a lot in it, but I think I think that stocks are gonna be okay. I think that the inflation deal is a big deal. But I still think the Fed is gonna probably come out and try to calm some fears and try to push those implicit rate hikes back in the curve. Yeah, well, they're gonna You're right. They'll try and certainly they're not gonna They're not going to tighten their target rate, probably in our lifetime. I'm just looking Jim Gold is down 8.7% year to date. But at the same time, the CRB spot commodity index is up. I'll call 11%. Raw industrials up 10 now. Traditionally going way back when gold was a bigger issue than it might be today, the argument was gold as an inflation indicators. So if gold is falling and industrial commodities arising That's not an inflation say No, that's a growth signal. I would say that That's you mean historically, that's 100% spot on. I can't explain the gold story because when I look at some other things, it definitely seems to me to be flashing inflation. Um again, it There's definitely a growth story. I think when I see everything seemed to change last weekend in the Midwest, when all the sudden the weather broke and you looked at the streets, the traffic increased like within hours. People started pouring into restaurants. I think things are changing. I think from an economic standpoint thing is gonna explode. And I think the commodities are definitely reflecting some of that sentiment. I think like if you look at lumber, lumber you you know it tripled. But lumber has a real fundamental story. Housing market people moving from cities out two more rural areas building but also you know it's denominated in dollars, and it's a bit of an inflation hedge as well. So I think when the market could find Stories that kind of crossed over it was it was wonderful and they jumped in and gold is specifically and inflation story. So they cast that aside. I don't know if that's the real story, but that seems like what's happening to me. David Bison. What's the fate of the dollar? How do you see the dog? Because I would just quickly say When I think about inflation, I'd look at the dollar. On If the dollar is falling and falling and falling now, this is the DX. Why? Then I would say inflation. You know, you should worry about that The dollar is down. Uh, leading percent from the peak a year ago. Now this I'm going back to march 23rd, But the year today it's flat up 1%. So what's your take on the dollar? So by kind of those law of looking at the dollar. We don't have inflationary pressures right now, In fact, the dollars actually up a little bit right now it is down. Let's call it 10% since Cove it began, which is somewhat understandable, but we have to remember how overpriced the dollar was going in. Ditto bit you you would have significant dollar increase throughout the oil weakness from about 2014 through 2018 or so and I think that all the stories Jim's talking about a really interesting you have a fundamental story in lumber. You have a geopolitical story with OPEC in oil. You can't get a good read on individual commodity is but how those law is the right one. The dollar and the dollar is not pointing to big inflation, either. Now I add bond yields to the mix I just until the Fed takes over the bond market like they have in Japan. I don't believe that a 10 year 1.5% can ever be considered inflationary, a 30 year and 2.5% to be considered inflationary so between the dollar in the bond yields that's trillions of dollars. Telling us that they don't see inflationary pressures. I basically agree with that. I really do. I really do. I just like to have fun because I love your Denny. And it just reminded me of the bond market Vigilantes story. Because I don't like the stimulus package. So that's my buys. You know, I think it's $2 Trillion of which probably 1.5. Trillion is completely wasted. But the Fed will have to finance it, but it's just kind of a fun story to stir the pot and you know these, You know, Fox business. I love my show, but you got to fill up space, so I put a little controversy to it. Thanks. So it's a lot of fun, But, uh, is the stock market Come back, gentlemen? Jim Yuria you for Does that mean it's bad week Now David's writes up 1000 points in February, But you're only as good as your last trade. So you go back to stocks, Mister Furia? Yeah, I actually did. Like I said Before that the 30 we came down to 3800, the S and P s. I still think the fundamental story is good. I think that By mid April. You know that whatever $50 trillion stimulus package that we both agrees on needed while they just open up the economy, But the economy is going to open up whether they do it or not, And it's just going to explode. I think into this spring I think anybody who has been and I see that anecdotally at my restaurant, it seems like when the weather changes. People are just flooding in, and I think that that attitude is out there, So I think that those things all happen. I think that's good for the stock market. I will push back and you guys every time, he said. We talk about the dollar. I think that looking at the dollar versus dollar index. It's gravitated to just basically looking at the dollar against the euro in the end, and they're also two other flawed currency that 70% of so I just think we gotta look at it more broadly. So I'm mostly agreeing with you that the dollar hasn't fallen out of bed yet, and there's no substitute for King Dollar yet. But I think if you measured against 20 other things that we could probably pick together. It paints a little bit more of a dismal picture with the dollar. But dancer question I'm still fine with stocks. If there's more weakness in the beginning of next week, I might change their mind. But as of today, I'm good. You know, David, just stepping back again. So we've had the worst. Uh, disease virus. Natural catastrophe in 100 years. We've had Lot of political controversy. Change of administrations. Threats to taxes, threats to regulations. No. We'll hear from Mr Trump tomorrow on his take on the world. But, you know For guys like May have been around and you guys have been around too. Would note and for our listeners, particularly The Dow Jones average is close to 31,000. Mr Bronson 31,000. Now. When I left. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Had been there. Three years has left guy there and 1975 went to Wall Street..

"Let's see. Six. Let me get this right 16 basis points. That's not so bad. Real interest rates are going up now. That's Anandan factor because real interest rates are supposed to signal Better or worse economic growth, So if real rates are going up, that's a forecast of higher growth. Not just higher inflation, So it's a mixed bag. And the question is, is the stock market sentiment attitude going to change here, David Or is this just kind of a hick up thing that comes and goes? Marry the Dow was still up. 1000 points in the month of February, He went, uh you win. Yeah. What? That's a close out dead. I don't mean to go straight to the conclusion that, uh The other. The other data point is the 10 year bond yield right now is exactly where itwas one year ago before covert began, hasn't moved a basis point. That to me is the most interesting fact here because it's basically the bond market, not saying inflation, not saying vigilante ism. It's basically saying OK, Kobe is done. We're back to the same disinflationary pressures we were a year ago, which is different than the hyper disinflationary pressures of co bid. But we're reflate ng back to normal, low inflation levels. The real rate you bring up is very important and the real rate on the 30 year and 10 year is still negative. We have productive economic growth coming, but we do not have looming inflation fears. You know, Um okay, so You know, for bridge players. That's a close outbid and I suspect you're right. But I think you're both right in a sense, because, uh, to Jimmy Arias Point you got you got a lot of new jitters and new factors in this thing with the volatility to your point. If you step back for a minute, let's not go crazy with the 50 basis point rise. Which probably reflects more the growth, But it was interesting. David. Look, I had Kevin Hassett on the show earlier this morning, if terribly terribly smart guy. And he and Larry Lindsey, who write these daily memos and so forth. They're looking for something like I think he said 3% inflation this year. Currently it's about 1.5 and then he said, could move to six or 7% next year. Now, at that point, I said, Kevin, I gotta go down to Washington and calm you a little bit 6 to 7% inflation. But I do know pretty much. Everybody is talking about inflation. Brought industrials are rising. They're using that oil is rising. Now. Those were just some prices. Those sometimes called relative prices, not general prices. So on this inflation point, Mr Bondeson, Is it much ado about? Nothing Are people just getting you know a little crazy here? Well, what I would really think we have to do is distinguish between the movement and prices from Co. Vidro's To where we are now, as opposed to from pre cove ID numbers, see what I'm saying? Ah, lot oil prices we say, Oh, they've gone from 20 to 60. But if you look at pre covert, they've gone from 60 to 60, right? And and now now lumber prices, air. Higher. Copper prices are higher there some. I think you have to watch it when I discount The idea of secular inflation. I don't want to be dismissive about cyclical realities to come up along the way. But no, I think that what we had, and this is something that you were so intimately involved with the White House. We had an economic event. There was historical and we navigated through it. And now here we are, and I understand that there's a lot you want to keep the cove ID type and panic going, so I just see a lot of data in commodity prices and in bond yields, saying Yes. What this evening of stock market said months ago. By the way, we're going to get passed over it. We're getting you consider that the cove is over and I agree with you. But the politicians don't seem agreed to President Biden yesterday just gave a speech. And he said that the only new various I live in Illinois J. B. Pritzker would be happy to lock us down for the next six months every time that now by the way, It's the Illinois the Chicago area has gone rogue. It reminds me of the whole prohibition thing. When the government made criminals out of every Italian who wanted to have a drink and I go around and I see restaurants that are crowded. I'm not talking about my restaurant. It all in case anyone from law enforcement is out there talking about other people's restaurant. I want to get back over to and there's been 100 straight days. Of covert hospitalization decreases in suburban Cook County and J. B. Pritzker and Joe Biden Act like it's getting worse. What do we make of that? You know, Jim, just for it on that point. You said a lot of extinct thinks and that. No, it's okay. It's okay. I love Reds. This woman, the mayor life foot. Her name is I got it. I don't know a lot about her, but I know that she's been trying to get this teacher's Union to go back to school open the schools. I gotta give her credit. Pritzker. You're right. I think he's just playing politics. Keep everything. Shut it, But she seems to be on the right side. Is she? You know that good. She know she was loved by even the people like us when she came because of Illinois in Chicago area. We know we're going to get a Democrat liberal mayor So we its ingredients, scale of how bad or good within that range, and at first we liked her. She's made some mistakes, and she's not as popular. She was now she's come out and said that Chicago Teachers union perhaps has more power than her and then imagine that just, you know, a mayor of Chicago, saying the struggle teacher union may have more power. That's that's disgusting. I mean, and the struggle teachers union has behaved. Poorly and the thing that I like about it is even my friends on the other seven on the left, Who can look at the Chicago teachers? Unions say, Wow, it seemed, I don't know what they're after. And what game they're playing, You know, talking to China, the Los Angeles teachers union tried to get universal basic income. Has passed to go back to school. So people are getting sick of it. And I think there could be a huge push back the other way, Which I like I was at this. We're gonna take a quick break doctor Copper, which is supposed to be a great economic indicator. Is up 16% year today, but Dr Coppers since The march 23rd lows of a year ago, which was the bottom for everything stocks. On so forth is up 93%. So that's a pretty good move and Guess, Mr Bronson. I think the better part of wisdom here is the modest interest rate adjustment is not going to be 7% inflation. It's really telling us The vaccines are working Herd immunity is rising, and we're gonna open the economy and have good growth and growth does not Cause inflation. Okay, that isn't that In here some place. This is a Philips Curve story. Good growth. Yeah. Rates go up mostly real raise, but that doesn't mean inflation has to come, Does it? No, so growth does not cause inflation and growth is not the same thing as inflation. And if every Philips curve ER had learned that in the seventies, he wouldn't be still having to discuss it. Now we'll call it the Kudlow and bumps in laws. That growth is a good big and it is not the same as inflation. More more people working Cannot be a bad thing. It cannot cause inflation or other evil. I'm sorry. More people. Working is a good thing. Not a bad thing. We agree on that. We sure do And, you know House agrees was Vale Brainard this week if the Fed wrote a paper saying that there was the most anti Phillips cover thing I've ever seen from a Fed governor said more people working is a good thing. Can you Can you send me that? Consider it done, Boy. I want to see that. That's fascinating. I'd love to talk to her. I gotta take a break. Producers are screaming at us to take a break, but we're having so much fun. The area ran surge off the charts. Fantastic stuff. "Of the office towers of Manhattan were emptied out by the pandemic first because Governor Cuomo ordered it. And now at least in part because employers and employees are reluctant to run the risk of catching the Corona virus from fellow workers, David Bonds and founder and chief investment officer of the Monsoon group Is concerned that we're making the transition back to slowly and he's written an open letter to some of the city's largest employers, including Jamie Diamond of JP Morgan, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs. And our own boss. Here at Bloomberg. Michael R. Bloomberg. Welcome, Mr Bronson. Now to Bloomberg. Welcome back to It's great to have you here. What provoked you to write this letter? It was actually the walk through midtown Manhattan myself. My apartment is over by Lincoln Center. My office is in the East side over our elections in your grand central and just walking through this incredible city. That means so much to so many of us. See the fact that there are incredible amount of people. Not there. There's more people now it's going to come back, but I'm hearing more and more conversations in my business and finance community. People talking about delaying it until January instead of until September, and my belief is that we owe it as a business community. To those that participate in the life and economy of the city to get going earlier. We certainly conduce so safely. It's not just here in New York, as you know. Well, I mean, today there's a piece of lumber reporting the Royal Bank of Canada. Has told its office workers to stay home until 2021 that's mainly up in Toronto, Of course, so it's a trip around the world is sometimes the employers thinking it's sort of an asymmetric risk. That is to say On the one hand, I could get people back, and there's certainly advantage of getting them back. And it's good and maybe they work a little bit better than together. On the other hand, if they get the disease, the consequences are pretty dire. If I keep him home, there's not as much risk. What do you make of that argument? Well, I think that is shortsighted. I think there's a dada and the science or abundantly clear that where New York is right now having four hospitalizations all of last weekend having multiple Days with no deaths at all. They're in a point now, where with the right social distancing and other measures that these highly resourced and highly capable organizations could easily implement. They can mitigate that risks substantially. They those by the way that are at risk when you talk about dire meaning people who would have A higher propensity for more severity. I certainly don't believe those folks should be coming back to work. People are symptomatic people or older and with other, you know, health concerns, but for the broader base of employees that make up That energy vice and community of New York City to me is exactly what New York is all about to get them going back. You could never after 9 11 of guaranteed no risk whatsoever, but we desperately wanted to fight back against the attack that had come to us and terrorism. I think that it is very similar in this environment. Now it's totally different Enemy. But we have the ability to do it safely and the business leaders are going to have to be leading the charge to what extent to the employees get a vote because some employees might be reluctant to come back even if their employer asked them to. That's right. And so you know what I would do if I were Jamie Diamond? I would leave it up to them. Poison that we want people coming back. We're making it available. We're encouraging it. And if you're not comfortable, don't come back. Well, maybe you get 50% maybe 70% but you wouldn't get 0%. The problem right now is that because a lot of these companies have been able to be functional, even though not optimal, there is sort of facilitating ongoing delay. Andi. So to the extent that you want to leave the optional for employees comfort level, I wouldn't have a problem with that. But I happen to believe that there's dominoes that will go once you kind of start encouraging it, making it available. Restaurants are opening life and energy is coming back to the city. More and more people want to come backto work. The work from home scenario is never Going to prove to be an optimal and permanent solution for fully optimized economy. Yeah, and at the risk of personalizing this I'm now working from the office is the first week for me back and they made it voluntary for Mae and I came back. They said, come back if you want. You don't have to If you don't want to, So I am back at Bloomberg, and we're working for the office, and it's easier in some respects. The same time. There are some inconveniences as well. A cz you might expect. What do you think David about the longer term effects for Manhattan as a center? Do you think we will ever come back to the sort of density we had before? Because a lot of people have gotten pretty used to uncomfortable with working from home. Yeah, I happened. Teo always air on the side of believing the things that were told, we're going to become permanent. Usually do not that there are paradigm shifts overtime on the margin that could be adjustments. There is a reason why, over the course of many, many years, many eras people have taken by way of lifestyle to the idea of density living, and also this business community and functionality within the city with the gyms have to be open kids back in school. There has to be some degree of normalization, but no the vise that made New York City New York City for all these years, there's not going to go away. And and that goes for all of the big cities as well. But I understand I'll take time that we need to be patient. But for the sake of those dry cleaners and coffee shops, Delhi's that air Around Bloomberg around my office around the great towers of Park Avenue. I just praise and business leaders will take the initiative to get people back to work. And since you yourself voluntarily went back in and I've been voluntarily going back in I will be happy to do our next interview. Live in person with you might be fine. You'll be six feet away. I'll warn you, but but way have rules here after all, and they clean everything and we walk out of the studio. I clean it all up. But finally, one other form of asymmetric worse. Do you think it's asymmetric as toe? If you start opening up, you have to go backwards. Do you think that's worse than never having opened? In the first place. Well again. I do happen to believe by the way that New York down to this 1% level is very unlikely to go that direction. I think an incredible immunity is built up into your community, and unfortunately, that's because how severe the outbreak was in March and April. But no, I don't think anybody wants to go backwards. But I think we are seeing with some of the states that did have I happen to think it was a first way is not a second wave of the Florida in Arizona's really had never been infected. I'm in a heavy level before and as they've seen their outbreak. Thank God. We're not seeing the same level of mortality and hospitalization, but but hopefully New York and keep fighting through. Okay, David, next time in person, Thank you so much to David Johnson of the bonds in Group Coming up here on election facing challenges we've never seen before. "Morning coming in join us and share the story of the castle with our listeners. Glad to be here. Let's talk a little bit about the family that lived in the castle, the longest was the toll breeze. Yes. And they had the large feed lot packing plant down on right on van Buren. As the south side of van Buren. She's I remember stretched across Washington. Yeah. And then the curry curry he's had a big plant their longtime. They've they sold it in the thirties to the counties where this where the stockyard restaurant is still to this day. Great food, great food. So all that all that history packed into this one little quadrant of the city. Tell us tell us some of the toll every family stories. Well, a bunch of just went over to Harkins theater in Scottsdale to see the. Great escape, and the Steve McQueen character is a compilation of a lot of the guys that were in that stall log and one of the sons of big Phil ovary, the son of EA Tober who actually bought the property was one of the characters Ed Tova. He was actually one of the fellas that was helping dig and lucky for him. He got transferred to another Stolac before they actually escaped. So he lived to tell the story. Wow. Yeah. Amazing. I I love that movie. But I break out in a high form of anxiety. Colleague, Mr. Bronson in the movie when he's down there digging in that small little tunnel. Oh, man. But so one of the reasons actually one of the real life characters that help dig those tunnels that the movie the greatest scape documented. Yes. Yes. Yep. Yep. Another one of the sons was also a fighter pilot, and then the other side of the family, the O'Hare airport was named after Butch O'Hare that was filter over ovaries uncle so of history within that family, the O'Hare airport in Chicago, Chicago. Okay. Yeah. That airport has a whole big history wing to it. I've been stuck there. Several times. And but they have a big big history. Depiction? Yes. The whole family story there. That's interesting. Okay. So other how big a family was living in this castle. Well, it was just della and e initially e eight passed away within the first year of them living there. Delaware's a widow for about four years, and she did a lot of upkeep. She added a patio and she concrete at some things. She added some different walls, and that sort of thing while she was widowed. And then she married the publisher of the Prescott Currier, so Mr. Stewart lived in the castle with delivering the winter and then they suffered in Prescott. And what's the toll free family story? How did they get here? Mr toby? Sorry about that. Mr. EA ovary came in as a he was pushing Cavill through from Illinois. He grew up there came in through Holbrook started butchering all of the cattle got a really great reputation. Had a terrific butcher shop in downtown Phoenix continued to grow that. And he also took his company around wherever the minds were Mr. Tober was the first mayor of the town of Jerome and got that place kickin, then moved down to bisbee. That's where he met delegate ovary his second wife, and then they eventually came back to Phoenix. And that's when he started the packing plant in nineteen nineteen. I didn't know that. Now that story alone right there packs a lotta interest. Yeah. That's incredible. So the the facility is open to the public absolute. Let's talk about that. You can't just park your car wander onto the property now. That's. A little dangerous. We've got some wildlife out there that would be happy to greet you, and like the lovely coyotes and that, but we also try to protect their space where they're living. We do have tours. But when you're there, you have to be on a guided tour, and we are open Wednesday through Sunday, we're dark Monday and Tuesday to do the big things like emptying those porta potties and fixing the roof, and that sort of thing, and I did read also you you can't walk up and get a ticket there sold out in advance pretty much all the time. Boy, we would love to be able to to get to the point that we can do that we sell out months in advance in fact, July first we released the spring of twenty nine hundred thousand tickets and sold four thousand and forty five minutes. What is this a bit on your website tea with Dell the tickets go on sale this morning September fifteenth at six AM? Yup. What does that that is our first ever fundraiser for the society? We. Are raising money to be able to refurbish and recreate the outbuildings now for those that don't know it there's other buildings out there. Besides the castle the castle was what was refurbished by the city, but we have a fuel house. We have a caro- cabin. We have reflecting pool we have about seven different buildings that are all in different levels of need of repair or they're gone from monsoons. And so this is a kickoff to our capital campaign to help us begin to raise funds to get those back in shape to add to the tour. Tickets just went on sale an hour and a half ago. Yeah. Sold out almost sold that one hundred dollars each. And so how many people would you hope to see a tin that hundred and twenty-five five tours. And the neat thing about it is it's not just a tour, but it also includes t on the patio where delegate used to entertain the big shots of Phoenix to raise money for the war effort. So you're really getting to participate in a piece of history. We usually don't have refreshments on our tours. And you get a chance to go around the whole property and see the plans for each one of the buildings as well is that the total count for the whole day or per T courteous twenty four twenty five nicely intimate grew. It is it is. We were very fortunate when the building did get remodeled. I knew I knew the right people. Now, we were able to take a staff photo from the top level of the castle. Don't tell anybody using a helicopter shooting the picture down on top of us. That was a real kick the castle. It's always been kind of a curiosity landmark in my mind. And then as you growing up in the area, which wasn't too far from the area. I grew up at you always here. Of the haunting 's and the stories that supposedly happened up there. Yes. How many of them really happen is this the only unhonored castle in the world all I can speak is from my own personal experience. And I haven't met any of those folks yet, Jay. And I'm there all the time people can attest to the fact that I've been there in the middle of the night closing windows. So I haven't met any of those ghosts. If they're they're. Okay. So I wouldn't be surprised if we've got some folks hanging around but haven't met him yet. Now, I've heard stories of a heinous crime being committed in the basement and that actually is not correct. Okay. There was a murder in the free family. But it did not take place in the castle itself. There was however a robbery that happened right before della passed away. In one thousand nine hundred sixty eight over Veterans Day weekend. It was a really stormy night. And some guys thought that she was going to be in Texas visiting or sister. And unfortunately, she got a cold and stay at home. And so lo and behold, they break into the castle from way up above and come down, and there she is sleeping in the kitchen because by then she was nearly eighty and the closest bathroom was on the first floor, and she usually slept in the basement. So that was a lot for an eighty year old Cal, so she was sleeping in the in the kitchen and her little dog was going nuts, and they ran into the burglars right there in the in the hallway and b-actor back into the kitchen. There was a bit of a struggle and a gun did go off. So we have a bullet hole in the kitchen that you can check out they tied her up and took off with silver and some money and some jewelry some furs took off in fact in a pink Cadillac and left her there. She got untied ran out to the. Bailout front started ringing that for her caretakers. And unfortunately, they thought it was the bell from the packing company. So she's finally gets a hold of them by running down there in the rain, and they call the police eventually one of the two guys was caught. And she was given her silverware back in coffee cans that they had melted it in a little one pound coffee cans. But in the meantime, she contracted pneumonia. Probably from running around in the storm had passed away in January of the next year. I I've heard stories we used to have convenience stores in Arizona. Everybody knows the circle ks the seven elevens we used to have you totems. Yes. That was Dell is grocery store she actually would shop there and at Christmas time, we heard this from one of the bag boys. He she would get into her big car with her furs and get all dolled up and she would go around Christmas, sometimes Christmas Eve and load up a bunch of baskets full of food, especially the meats and the really expensive things. Everybody thinks she's gonna have a party she pays for and she leaves the baskets in the u totem for the employee's to take home, very generous lady. And that. I never knew her. But that was that the kind of stories I heard about her growing up. Yeah. You hear about her being afraid to go out? Yes. Being a party animal for her time being the head of the Democratic Party being a wealthy woman who didn't meet with other people. This is completely different side to her. That's a fantastic story. You've been involved here at the toll free caro- society for how long since the fall of twenty twelve and that was that the founding of this society. No, they started in March. It was actually formed the the year before as a nonprofit. All right. Let's go through the public access one more time where were you parking parking is at the visitor center on fifty second street and van Buren. "You're listening to NewsHour from the BBC World Service with, me Rebecca kes- be now Turkey's embattled. Currency the lira has hit a new record low today against the US dollar losing some eleven percent in value strains with the United States show no sign of easing a Turkish delegation returned from talks in Washington with no apparent solutions to the. Crisis in the past, hour the finance minister has been speaking about how he plans to strengthen the economy more on that in a. Moment, first, though let's get a sense of how this crisis is affecting people in. Turkey the BBC cylin Garrett reports now from a market place in. Istanbul It's early morning here. In his stumbled and the, sellers are setting up their stalls in this marketplace and. One by one they are placing, their price tags on the stalls but I have to tell you. The tax do not seem very appealing a bunch of garlic here for instance is sold for five liras and here at this stole a kilo of. Olives for twenty liras take should be solid shrimp this particular, seller tells me it would cost at. Least three liras to prepare basic bowl of salad keep your lives out of it he says otherwise it will be too expensive today Turkish lira has hit a new record low against the dollar the euro as a pound the local currency lost. Nearly a third of, its value since the beginning of the year there's a huge current-account deficit and the inflation stands above twelve percents. The, latest, loss of the value in the lira is due to the deadlock in. The talks between on Karan Washington on the release of a US Pasta currently in house. Arrest in Turkey earlier today presents are Don commented they meaning the US may have their dollars but we have our gods plummeting the lira even further Later in the. Day we expect the finance minister to announce new comic model for Turkey but the question is will. Be enough to, calm down the markets and halt the collapse of. Lira there's an overwhelming closer in amongst Turkish people. 'cause the country seeming to the. Full blown currency crisis at the, moment be also at the brink of an, economic crisis the Turkish people. Will need to be reassured The BBC's selene Garrett they're reporting in Istanbul and she actually joins. Us now on the line setting thank you for coming up because there's been a few developments on. This story in, the past few hours firstly though why is Turkey's. Currency in such poor shape at the moment While the, latest crisis has been triggered by a. Rift between Washington and Ankara over the arrest of US pastor, Andrew Branston he has been jailed since since last year and Washington, was expecting him to be released in the latest hearing but he wasn't and then sanctions imposed by Washington followed and he, was put, on house arrest there have been negotiations. And talks held between the two countries and there has been pressure put on Turkey for this passes release but Turkey wants to apparently use Mr. Bronson. As a bargaining chip, as an exchange as a prison tool for prisoner exchange. For instance and in on credit doesn't back off that is why the rift has been strengthened and deepened. And, we, have seen the lira fall to record lows all time lows Actually today there was a. Time when the Turkish lira lost fourteen percent of its value only overnight and we're talking about a currency dot already has lost nearly forty percent of its value since the beginning of the year so very serious issues at. The moment and finance minister in that report I was saying we're expecting we're expecting him to speak later today, and he has spoken and he said the independence of, the central Bank is crucial and that. Turkey will have a stronger budget discipline Turkey will emerge much, more powerful from this recent crisis but he didn't exactly clarify how. What steps would be taken exactly to halt the collapse of the lira and since he has spoken Turkish lever has plummeted, even further, well and of course President Trump has. Been applying yet more pressure he's just tweeted that he's authorizing a doubling of the tariffs on steel and aluminium with respect to Turkey that's just come in in the past hour or so what's impact with that have Well. That will hurt because aluminium and steel. Apparently will be targeting deter cash construction construction sector and the recent. Economic boom in Turkey the growth in, Turkey is very much dependent on the construction sector and if the construction sector is hurt then Turkish economy will hurt and, already because of. The fluctuation of the Turkish lira because of the loss in its value dramatic loss already there had been issues in importing of these materials and now, Turkey will face even? Harder Hard to face and already people in the marketplaces who were buying, stuff because Turkey. Has been importing materials we're already hurt they will feel the squeeze more and more and The government will need to act somehow difficult times for the Turkish thank you very. Much for joining. Us live on the line from Istanbul Celine Garrett.
