Florida attorney general scrutinizing Bloomberg paying fines for felons to vote

"Of the state of Florida a couple years ago changed the law to allow convicted felons who have paid their debt to society. And they're no longer there no longer encumbered by the shackles of parole or outstanding fines or for Ah, Foran satisfied the payment of restitution to their victims. One cell that's done, they can vote. Well, it rolled out in such a way as ah, you would assume people were anxious to go vote and actually, it took a course of action on the part of the governor. The Santa's toe, actually impose Greater restriction. Greater clarity prohibiting voting arise for people who still had fines and restitution unsatisfied. So now the Florida attorney General Ashley Moody, I'm sorry and let neglected to mention a big part. Mike Bloomberg, upon learning of this has decided that he will donate money. He's raising money and giving some $16 million To help facilitate the process of voting open the door for felons in Florida to vote in the upcoming presidential election. As a result, the Florida attorney General Ashley Moody, is calling for further investigation into whether billionaire Mike Bloomberg violated state statute when he took this course of action. She has said. She put out information of the media, she said today I sent a letter to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation into potential violations of election laws. She says she has instructed statewide prosecutor to work with law enforcement and any statewide grand jury that the governor may call. Just a day before Mr Bloomberg announced the hefty sum would go towards paying restitution and court finds that prevent Florida felons from voting. This was not missed out on the opportunity was not lost by by several and politics, including Matt Gates, House Republican representing of Florida. In fact, a member of the Judiciary Committee at the Florida attorney, hey pounced on the news of this decision, and Ah urged Moody, the attorney general to take up the criminal investigation against Mr Bloomberg. He points out the statute in Florida under a Florida law. It's a third degree felony for someone to either directly or indirectly provide something of value to impact, whether or not someone votes That's information he has shared with the media. So the question is whether or not paying off someone's finds and legal obligations counts as something of value and his opinion is that it does.

Stalking a Short on Bitcoin

"Today in the markets guess what gave a market a Bush mock. I don't mean the market that I tried and did you try to count the number. Love me for hope. Anyway I'm talking more about the futures in the US. Of course. I'll have been talking a little bit more about that off light because it has been talk of the town has been moving quite extraordinarily. It's not a market that I focus my attention on or take people to try to teach people to try cryptocurrency because this volatility what we get that more frequently and now you understand why not try traditional markets and wiped away a couple years ago. To focus on crypto full time. I'm we're up on the close. We're up a thousand over thousand points on the E. Mini four point five percent. The and the s over spots are the s all the S. and P. Five hundred has resigned above three thousand again that appear at people like the fact the Mr Bloomberg has Bildt on the rice and Mr Bernie Sanders is less likely to to win. I think this seems to be a parent from what's happened to the markets are the things that come through that I've seen is the The the primary it appears the business seems to think in markets for that medicine to think. That's a Baden government a better a better outlook full business than I sanders. One and I forget. The market is a complete replication of capitalism. I it's it's what it is. It's about making money it's about you know. Markets go up if money's being made if things are positive So that Swab. It appears that Baden has been given the thumbs up by the markets as he did creep ahead. That's for sure so talking back across to To Amok at the market that I do try democracy. I do get people to learn about teach people to try his KRYPTONITE. Had A great deal moment a great deal of moving on? I'm market over the last twenty four hours with pretty much flexible there. There are a couple of exceptions in all. I'll speak to those in just a moment. One thing I wanted to talk about is if you're not following me on on facebook. You really should be Craig Cobb. That's a Double Bay for Bravo not day God on the fish when I was called as in kkob cow Hasn't yes I know you're saying on the voice corn on the cob all of that one before jolly you say we have had a stimulus. Packages can obviously Hong Kong suggestive funded. Something point something billion three point two billion. I think it was and we've had a believe. Sean has also come out and said they were going to stimulate put stimulating talk of people that need to state high getting up ten thousand dollars for doing so to rip To sort of I suppose gave the incentive to stay high because a main think about somebody who who doesn't work for office here so what is out there and who does physical labor. What are they doing right now? Steinheim and do what from high while the flora can swipe itself from harm Is it site? There is a lot of paper especially the Guide to saw on. This was what the stimulus packages around the world. There to sort of help with so people actually do take. Hey to the advice and stay home now. What does that mean well? Stimulus is not a bad thing. As long as it doesn't lay damore printing of money now of course the US has been exercising. It's it's Apparent right to print money for a number of as a matter of fact it started in two thousand nine hundred ninety recently stopped on. I think it'd just find out the press guy So far as quantitive easing goes in the printing if further money I think it'll be very very interesting and potentially very dangerous if other countries to sort through the site because you know if other countries go out and so we've got lots of money then it's I don't know how they will react to that Americans have gotten away with it because they're America. Okay that the dollar's seemingly backed by their eyesight that the defence force. Because you know it's not it's not a gold pin currency anymore and oddly enough they feel to Conley battered if other countries would go out there and press now. This is not something. I'm an expert on. I'm just looking at this guy. Well if if you know if the market's wonderful further we interest rates more or less globally the silo. We haven't got that Fatah guy. What will the weapons that we had last global financial crisis? Well let me tell you what those weapons were. Those weapons were number one. We had interest rates to cut interest rates to make it easy for bank. Selanne which was alive all right. Let's go do those opportunity there number three well if all else guys to the bottom of the barrel print more money okay. So they used all three of those to push the most the longest bull. Run that we've had in modern times. Now what are they this time will Jason Tonight? Qa that's bad it stimulant lights. It's it's hard to see what sort of weaponry that they have out there at the moment to continue to stimulate growth Markets Steinke forever. And it's going to be interesting so I said keeping a pretty you type in view. I suppose that everything's going to be okay but also the back of my mind. I am starting to read a little bit more When it comes to government policy Saudi Arabia doing on Titan little notice than I normally would just so that I can be ahead of the curve is more important to me than anything else brought now. Let's go throughout market and have a little little challenge. What's going on Bitcoin? Thousand seven hundred forty four dollars point two percent now. The thing is if you look at the two hour shot here. There's a try that I call the you've heard before the bitcoin rake and there is one way to test was not quite. It's it's better saying on the bit mixed job support. They'RE GONNA have locust one of my strategy's not they're incompletion and you haven't with the rules unless you do and if you do good if you don't stay away you're already but it is building there. We do have a bit of a daily downturn do gacy a short today. I will take good thing is I just did my scan. I've tried but long short Tries TO WIPE APU bucks. Nine percent the biggest fuller across the board has to be said it is Vail. It's just changed. But his two hundred and thirty two dollars and ninety five cents. It's down six point. One four percent. There was a pullback into an all support level and it was a little bearish candle in that cradles on. Potentially that could have been a tribe. Did I take it did I say yes? Why Not Take it? Well a believe you find. It is rule number five in the cradle tried law coin sixty thousand forty nine cents is down a US three dollars and fifty nonsense. It's standpoint non. Barnes is in the grain. It's at one point three five Senate nineteen Dole's at a nonsense not looking at the moment for any longs on Bonnets. I took it tried yesterday against bitcoin lower risk because my bitcoin trying to guidance bitcoin an Ulster Bitcoin. Looking a loss. It's been pretty crap for me this year. It's not it's not been a area of big profit it's actually being a losing area for me The perpetual contracts against doll. That's been very successful this year And that has always been a focus for the tribe simply because he got one stable which is the US. Do pitcher whether whether it's cooled but you've also got one very volatile whereas if you try against Bitcoin you got to be very volatile and this year. It's it's just you know the ones that have taken a little older. But I've had more stop outs profits having one of the one of the other prophets. "Arkansas Oklahoma and Alabama doing and South Carolina doing very well in fact called for all of those states except Arkansas Joe Biden also did very well in Virginia which is dominated by people who work for the federal government in the north Joe Biden picks up Minnesota as well Amy Klobuchar's endorsement must've been persuasive however the prizes of the night R. Texas and California and they're not close to being called one that is being called and I ask my guests to interpret this force is Colorado Colorado is a state where a lot of Californians are moving which is a state that is having a tight Senate race right now between the incumbent and Mister Hickenlooper who was the former mayor and governor mayor of Denver and governor of Colorado bites Colorado's now called early for Sanders and the number two in Colorado is not Mr Biden it's Mr Bloomberg bill a very good evening to you is Colorado a indicator of Texas or California or these three standalone states good evening to you bill good evening John I would argue three standalone stakes in this regard if you go back and look at Colorado in twenty sixteen Bernie normally what you want to lower in Colorado we got almost fifty nine percent of the vote got forty wonder twenty five delegates he did very well for them surprised that he won there tonight not necessarily a surprise bid Bloomberg is doing well there because Bloomberg's see advertised like mad in this and other states where Democrats were not competing to serve as a temporary state and what else Colorado have to offer for Bloomberg a very serious state when it comes to guns remain the home of Columbine so if you're Mike Bloomberg and you've taken control we are called to select this is a good place for it to happen the commercial that did not happen to particular bluebird acted last year on gun control legislation and he finished third so not surprised by Colorado and like you looking forward to Texas and California John because this is all about separation can pretty get delicate separation from body can you get to a point after tonight were it's almost maverick mathematically impossible for Biden to catch him and over past them so it's it's but proportional vote democratic circles or the two and a politically close in which case the other metrics yes right now the Wall Street journal front page is remaking constantly for the delegate count which is different than who wins the state and their proportional assignments so they're changing very quickly right now Biden is indicated at two hundred and thirty a hundred and seventy six of them from today Bernie's a Bernie Sanders is indicated at one twenty six sixty six of them today but the prizes Texas and California overwhelm everything that's happened so far they they dominate the day and I believe I believe that together there somewhere in the seven hundred range of when they're putting a little adventure on California's for fifteen Texas two twenty eight so my math is correct that's what four hundred and forty three okay I'm going to let that know the looking for thirty seven so let's do five hundred but yeah that's it's almost triple the number no two states when all the February states were so again this is when you come to the race tonight it's not just a question of where we can win the two states he's been ahead in Texas the most polls coming in he's a head in California every viable poll but I've read a clue what Hoover Institution put out the other day so not a surprise to be withdrawn but it's not good it's going to be about quality but quantity how many delegates we we keep getting lost in this in these primaries we talk about who's won the stage finishes second to third it's like the presidential coated doesn't matter necessarily the popular vote its electoral votes and here in the in the primaries it's about delegates this is the Democratic Party made it very clear and the last forty eight hours since a South Carolina that it was moving very quickly towards Joe Biden the endorsements the excitement and the commentary on the two cables to cover the Democratic Party closes that would be CNN and MSNBC did they wait too long I think they waited too long and very good examples here my California senator Kamilla Harris John formally presidential candidate in late January hinted that she was going to respond it didn't happen and she sat out the door like other Democrats did not endorsing him while he floundered now here we are in March you she had endorsed him Johnny Pretorius maybe campaign for him in South Carolina and it's super Tuesday states should be in a much better position vis a vis the vice presidential sweepstakes would you start early display of that Texas rally which just about to go up and up sponsored by linkedin dot com because it looks like a job addition collects about or work in a record which are included judge but yeah I think a lot of Democrats which you know the endorsed by my body but you know in a pipe that is twenty twenty and a lot of us who thought Biden was dead to rights that includes may have been on the show and you know it used them several times to being the job pushing the selection and the chances of winning I'm not looking to smart tonight but again the night is still young Texas is just closes poll Californians Dr California doesn't close another hour and a half we'll see what the evening Greg's right Texas right now with just five percent reporting is not called just Sanders has a lead of twenty eight point twenty nine to twenty three over Biden Bloomberg is closing on Biden Bloomberg did very well in Colorado he's number two in Colorado in fact ahead of Biden does Bloomberg stay in with all of his money or does he does his does his decision matter to Biden and Sanders so we don't know what goes on in the mind of Mike Bloomberg you in I John but I know you don't but I know I don't have sixty billion dollars to buy disposal I don't see the world the same way he does maybe his very large ego wants to stay in the race but they become that thing of the quote unquote act to the nomination and here we are sitting here talking about this John Hughes won all of one contest tonight American Samoa which I forgets either four or six delegates in at least we can do the math on how many dollars you spend per delegate but he may come away with over three hundred delegates tonight he cannot get the nineteen ninety one in the first round of the waiting on first round convention one hundred delegates he's going to be rather obscure when it comes to brokering commensurate that debate so does want to be said about stepping aside and letting Joe Biden run one of one it gets pretty Sanders is spending its money elsewhere but you know Bloomberg said time again the reason this thing you know he's been a deep commitment to spend five hundred dollars or spend another five hundred million if that's what it takes but you know if you just watch results tonight John there's a pattern states were Bloomberg and been running second both Carolina Virginia state like that he finishes third he got past bye bye he could not catch birdie so I just don't understand his rationale for going forward I think it's a conversation Hina people will be having if not tonight they should have it tomorrow he does have delegates has thirteen delegates so far going to the wall street journal center to our yes was not successful in her home state of Massachusetts and yet until an air of Tulsi Gabbard reappears because she has not quit the campaign trail Elizabeth Warren is the is the vote for the alternative to the Septuagint Arians right this septuagenarian males Elizabeth Warren is also seventy so in any event is that enough reason for her to stay into the convention that she's an alternative to the three older senior male figures an alternative drug addicted people are voting for her numbers are sufficient to stay in I'm looking at her end up the greatest imported Texas yet the last I check running in third place in her home state of Massachusetts strong can you name a single candidate who's finished third in their home state won their party's nomination notices a Massachusetts senator who lost your insurance tonight she is actually campaigning in Michigan which tells you to expect with Massachusetts children twenty dollar bill credit bears meant but I don't see how she can move forward after this I think she's going to be starving for money he's been a California here the last couple days but it's all money paid for ads paid for by a super PAC on our behalf which is not a one of a flip flops she said she would not tell what super pacs over because I just if she could start you have a good time for her to get out and as much as we talked about Bloomberg to judge another's giving help to pardon she could be a boost according because if you look at this ten percent thirteen percent you get is a mistake I presume that's a lot of birdies to be had so maybe maybe she stepped out tomorrow maybe she endorses Bernie the votes next week include well at Michigan's voting next week again M. March tenth also voting next week is Missouri these are more indicative of the general election the selections is that enough for for Bloomberg warned to stay in that day another week wouldn't cost a great deal of money and they could see whether they're attracted democratic voters who went to trump the sixteen yeah but you know part of that John is based upon momentum we're seeing tonight with buying the water was happy to find that I had a big win three days ago it spills over neither Bloomberg nor warrant has any momentum coming out tonight if anything worn has embarrassment by doing so poorly and her in our home state so I don't see how they can move forward you just gonna take away votes from Biden provides standards and I think that if we take away right now from what she is this is become all of a sudden it you can build the Democrats to vote rolling the dice on by as a default bill is is their default choice because of anybody but Sanders and so that's why they've chosen by why did they choose Bloomberg well I don't cricketers Bloomberg for couple reasons John one of which is Mike Bloomberg is really he's not an organic entity is not of the Democratic Party like Donald Trump but unlike Donald Trump who seized on an issue that's very important Republican primary voters which is immigration and Donald Trump running against the system populist campaign in twenty sixteen Bloomberg has not been popular he's been kind of a cool technocrat he has not really been public out on the stump he hasn't participated in debates has been kind of a wizard of oz elements with campaign when you finally win totals only pulled the curtain up from the wizard the first debate Democrats and like he would be like on TV I think that's what fell apart that's one of the takeaways from sniper here in California like luger John has spent sixty two point three million dollars on television out here and that was that was as a week ago that number's gonna pass seventy million dollars that's one heck of a brilliance cannot hear the bluebirds will join the very long line of calendar California gazillion years who's gonna ton of money on politics here and belly flopped you just can't win Democrats minds by TV you have to win the hearts and souls and clever thirty second spots just don't do it has to be something more you're campaigning Mike Bloomberg just hasn't had it bill Whalen of the Hoover Institution he's the host of very forty five bills conversations with his colleagues at the Hoover Institution they'll be much to discuss we're told now and B..

"Me all the time if you didn't you wouldn't do it but for Mr Bloomberg going forward so what you need to do from here on out is a really kind of focus on his record as a mayor as a businessman and try to sell that to voters but to show that he has what it takes to actually be Donald Trump because that's what voters are most concerned about in the selection of Bloomberg's on Edgerton Michael Bloomberg is a founder of Bloomberg LP the parent company of Bloomberg radio global news twenty four hours a day on Erin a quick take by Bloomberg power by more than twenty seven hundred journalists and analysts in more than one hundred twenty countries in San Francisco I'm AT back here all right Brian already thanks very much let's say good morning to our guest on the show today the first one marks the first chief investment officer CLS investments markets a little troubling here you've got more anxiety and market so we can cite a number of reasons the reliability of the data in China maybe the rise of cases outside China and also maybe to a certain degree the rise of of Bernie Sanders and the and the left of the Democratic Party what's chief among those for you I would say right now the corona virus is definitely at the forefront right now Bernie Sanders it is if you want to call it a concern or certainly a factor right now because of his socialist tendencies but I think right now the uncertainty really over the corona virus and how long it's going to last and what the impact is going to be for the markets if this is a short term blip or if it's more expensive and that we don't work in the in the note you said as you say that at a minimum of global growth will slow down in the first quarter specially in China because of the coronavirus what could happen at a maximum what's your reasonable view on that well I don't mention I guess we could actually have a recession certainly in the in the United States I'm not putting the highs as well as China well again you said what the maximum is I think it I I think it's not what I would call as a likely scenario but if this thing is extended and we have a if this is a real blow up only have something where we can have a local only running about two percent which seems like to me right now if you want to call normal speed the US it wouldn't take that much to get growth to become negative for two consecutive quarters if this goes on for you know the foreseeable future for the next few months or so I think we'll be barely positive for the first quarter I mean you've seen companies like apple and I'm sure others are going to be starting to warn about first quarter earnings so right now that it would definitely be a maximum seems like the bond market may be kind of sensing some trouble at for growth but not the stock market it's up about four percent or so since this thing broke really in January do you have some other reasons why the bond market might be reacting so differently now we we've actually they had a lot of conversations in internally because as a significant differences between bonds and stocks right now to me the stock market right now is not taking the risk of this serious enough there's no question it's been a whole lot it literally that's headed in adding which is certainly been helping people going into the stock market and there's not a whole lot of return expectations in the bond market but the bond market with now the ten year pressing down against one fifty and almost all time lows on the thirty year right now the stuff the concerns in the bond market about what is going on here and certainly a combination of low growth going forward and no real inflation in sight yeah we just got a couple seconds here of course you can come back with us mark but bond market seems to be saying of the the but fed funds traders two it cuts this year you on board with after the fed I think there's a chance that they'll cut I don't think that they want to cut I do think the next move from the bed will be a cut I don't know if it'll actually happen in two.

Democratic debate posed anti-billionaire candidates against a billionaire

"Morning presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg made his debut last night on the twenty twenty democratic debate stage in Nevada and here's how he introduced himself to America I'm a New Yorker I know how to take on an arrogant con man like Donald Trump comes from New York and here is how his rivals responded I want to talk about who were running against a billionaire who calls women fat broads and horse stays to lesbians and no I'm not talking about Donald Trump I'm talking about male Bloomberg Mr Bloomberg had policies in New York City of stop and frisk which one half the African American and Latino people in an outrageous way that is not a way you're going to grow voter turnout let's put forward somebody who actually lives and works in a middle class neighborhood in an industrial midwestern city let's before somebody who's actually a Democrat well those democratic presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren Bernie Sanders and be booted judge and that was all just in the opening ten minutes last night so how to Bloomberg fend off his rivals and how does is late entry complicate the democratic field for can ask Corley he lands he it Corey Ilan's he's a former communications eight for president Obama he's in studio thanks for coming in court good to be here how do you think Mike Bloomberg did last night I think he did exactly as we would anticipate he would do as somebody who's coming into the race at this particular time if you think about it Mike Bloomberg as he just said it is a former mayor of New York City so he's coming in with a sense that he's done this before this is not a big deal he clearly didn't prep and if you think about it didn't did not press this was very apparent because and if you think about it incumbent presidents when the running for that second term that first debate is always the roughest when the running for the real act that's the mindset he wasn't think about it he issued the the campaign issued a statement afterward saying he's just getting warmed up yeah that's exactly they knew he was not going to do well last time so does that mean does that hurt him I mean it if this is his first impression and he didn't make a good one then how does he pay that moving forward well here's the deal he is not on the ballot this week or next week in a lot of South Carolina so he literally had nothing to lose literally it's important for him to be on the stage now rather than in the South Carolina Carolina debate next Tuesday because it allows him to get all of this out all of his anxiety all of his nervousness all his bad move and all of the negativity as far as the issues he's been dealing with over the past several weeks all of that out now he can go to the South Carolina debate next week with a clean slate to to some degree hello yeah yes and by the way there's that whole four hundred million dollar thing that's on his side as well so that's going to keep him in the race right so lousy pizza last night people to judge said of the and I'm paraphrasing here but essentially Democrats could wind up with a choice between the two most polarizing candidates Bernie Sanders and Michael Bloomberg especially because of that money you just noted is that a concern for you well I tell you this he has absolutely every right to be a candidate in this race and to spend the money that he needs to spend for Bernie he has built up a following over the past six years that has been consistent but it is a real threat to the Democratic Party because you have to outsiders one with enormous money one with the new home was following a democratic socialist and a former Republican billionaire that are your two biggest candidates right now that's a problem for the Democratic Party is there anyone that you as a Democrat as someone who follows all this closely who is invested is there anyone in this field of democratic candidates who you genuinely believe can beat Donald Trump I believe Joe Biden can be done from how he has lost the first two contests well I tell you this when you look at where he is right now he anticipated that it wasn't going to do well in Iowa and New Hampshire he has put all his chips in South Carolina and thinks he's also going to do well here in out in the bottom at the end of the day Joe Biden is banking on South Carolina and using that as a springboard into super Tuesday the key is going to be how much money does he have going into the in soups Tuesday to make a spread across the country right and is Mike Bloomberg of potentially it gains traction he could siphon off some of that money exactly right Cory eons former communications aide in the Obama White House thank you for your time this morning no problem could be here

Warren Leaps to the Attack Against Bloomberg

"The latest televised debate in the race for the democratic presidential nomination has been marked by sharp exchanges between the six candidates the billionaire Michael Bloomberg was attacked by Elizabeth Warren over his support for controversial policing policies while mayor of New York listen very closely to the apology the language he used is about stop and frisk it's about how it turned out no this isn't about how it turned out this is about what it was designed to do to begin with real men from the beginning for his part Mr Bloomberg said he could bring America back together who can beat Donald Trump and number two who can do the job if they get into the White House and I would argue that I am the candidate that can do exactly both of those things I'm a New Yorker I know how to take on an arrogant con man like Donald Trump the comes from New York

Democrats plan to go after Mike Bloomberg during his first debate appearance Wednesday

"Michael Bloomberg is to take part in his first democratic presidential debate on Wednesday after polls suggested a surge in his popularity one of his rivals for the party's nomination senator Elizabeth Warren said the event in Las Vegas would allow herself and the other candidates to display their skills against egomaniac billion that similar to Donald Trump Mr Bloomberg has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars on campaign ads including one criticizing president trump's attitude towards immigrants from Latin America tries to convince Americans that there are too many Latinos living hearing demonized as immigrants from Mexico and Central America this call them believe it or not from minerals and rapists and murderers and killers he's call them animals and he said that our country is on the invasion facing infestation and in the station that's what they call Jews in **** Germany so why has Mr Bloomberg entered the debate in Nevada a question for all US reporter Anthony's archer well it's because the qualification criteria that the Democratic Party puts on debates changed for this debate used to be that you had to have a certain number of small donors in order to qualify and of course Michael Bloomberg's only donor to his campaign is himself to the tune of about four hundred million dollars so far so what they did was they change it only to be poll standings and if you'd won any delegates in previous caucuses and primaries so all the son Michael Bloomberg qualified for the debate at and he's going to be on the stage there against his democratic opponents away to see place himself on the political spectrum I think it falls down in the middle we have to remember he was a former Republican when he was mayor of New York City he ran it regionally as a Republican then switched to being an independent and only recently switched to being a Democrat and if you listen to him he says the reason is because the Republican Party has moved away from the center he's always stay the same if you break down his policies when he was mayor he was he had a kind of a tough on crime reputation he back something called stop and frisk which allowed New York City police officers to search anyone they suspected of wrongdoing and it targeted disproportionately young black males New York City residents and a lot of critics you that as a civil rights violation and a racist policy Bloomberg has since backed away from them but if you look at other policies that he has other other things he supported he supports gun control he supports an aggressively tackling climate change Hugo crackdown on cigarette smoking in the city all those things put him being in either in the mainstream or slightly to the left of many Democrats so he's kind of an interesting candidate who I think will probably take fire for being a former Republican but some of his policies are very popular among Democrats to what extent does he pose a threat to the existing candidates well they're going to be two more states that hold their nomination contests before Michael blue burgers even on the ballot this Saturday Nevada and then the Saturday after in South Carolina they're going to be the other candidates kind of battling for pole position up against Michael Bloomberg come the beginning of March when there are I believe fifteen states that are gonna hold primaries and Michael Bloomberg is going to be on the ballot and not all of them I think after member that Bernie Sanders did very well in Iowa the senator from Vermont he did very well in Iowa he won New Hampshire Hey he's leading in the polls despite all this talk about Michael Bloomberg he's actually doing the best of any candidate right now he's gonna have a lot to say about how this all shakes out but it's going to be a different kind of a race with Michael Bloomberg in it with his virtually limitless resources and we'll have to see you know if if you can actually start winning some states and then it's anybody's ballgame today's okay

Michael Bloomberg skips Iowa caucuses in 2020 campaign

"The democratic candidates are in Iowa or headed there ahead of Monday's caucuses with one notable exception former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg Saturday he'll be in Denver yesterday he was in Washington DC talking about homelessness and housing all over the democratic nominee well the each other on in the case Bloomberg isn't competing in the first four states to hold caucuses and primaries his name one appear on ballots until super Tuesday but he's a billionaire and he's used millions already to let you know who he is in advertising some of the ads featuring dogs and ice cream more admittedly a bit off beat recent polling data outside of Iowa and New Hampshire has him registering in Utah and Florida for example recent polling of democratic voters has him in double digit territory it is a different approach but will it work especially if one candidate like Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden wins a majority of the early states and gains momentum we have a national footprint right now in over thirty five states with about a thousand people on the ground Tim o'brien is the Bloomberg campaigns senior adviser we're running three campaigns crime fourteen usually essentially running a general election campaign read out of the gate against ana trump we're also running obviously a primary campaign that really hinges on super Tuesday states as our for showing and were also prioritizing handful of battleground states where we are we think the twenty twenty elections gonna be won or lost I've been in six of those states so far so I've been in Pennsylvania Michigan Wisconsin Arizona North Carolina and I'm in Texas now probably going to Florida next week and in those states are the ones that are high priority for us but we're we're we're competitive in all the states but not Ohio with a big ground operation in Ohio already but I think I think you know I was gonna be a tough state Ohio think it's pretty red right now where is I think Arizona and Texas are very critical and I think we can help push it into blue let's talk about the early states if Bernie Sanders turns into like you know a runaway train with like three of the four early states what's the strategy then for super Tuesday man how do you fight that momentum run away train is not a good image but he has momentum you know I think there's a good chance he's going to win both Iowa New Hampshire you know there's a chance that that Joe Biden may not even be in the top two in either of those states so I think there's going to have to be some reconsideration of among voters away everything resides in the wake of these first two contests certainly after the first four and I think it'll you know I think that'll sort of be rooted in where the the the the middle of the party and a moderate pardon party sees itself in and where the liberal wing of the party sees itself and and what kinds of rational alliances can be made for people smokers on the most important thing which is being Donald Trump there are plenty of Californians who would support Mike Bloomberg and I know because I've spoken to some of them I know that's not a really big surprise to hear that some Californians would support circling Berg but even some of them have expressed to me some skepticism about his campaign because he isn't competing in the first four states and you know I've heard people who are very supportive of Mr Bloomberg question how serious the candidacy as if he's you know not debating and and not campaigning the way other candidates are you know what I think is they start to pay closer attention to what we're doing I don't think any any doubts about house here agrees he is about this campaign he sees it as the culmination of his life's work the money resources and organizational he's quitting the play here are going to be at this point of the Democratic Party or whoever the ultimate democratic nominee is even if it's not Mike I think if this was just someone on a on a sort of breezy Danny run you wouldn't see those kinds of things everything about his policy positions aren't about in an affluent individual trying to buy the election is about somebody with a long track record of public service as an elected official as it's winter pest and it's not nor will I need to bring all those skills to bear in this race and I think the reason is going up in the polls is because people recognize that

"We really all doing geographical toy hit because we're going to look at the media tycoon and former New York City met Michael Bloomberg because he has rejoined the. Democratic Party now in a social media post Mr.. Bloomberg said, a potential constitutional crisis on the Donald Trump was the reason behind his decision before becoming med back in two thousand and one Mr. Bloomberg joined the Republican party, and at one point, even considered running for president as an independent in likelihood, he won't be the first or indeed, even the lust politician to change seats on the political merry. Go round a Sultan. Ronald Reagan once said, and I quote, I didn't leave the Democratic Party. It left me and look what happened to him. Do you think he serious about starting in twenty twenty because that seems to be what the suggestion is clearing the clearing the decks for the big fight. Yeah. I mean, I think he's he's absolutely serious about setting the stage now. I think he'll make the judgment call later. If there's an obvious favorite who's gonna come in and he'll he'll back off, but I don't think there's going to be an obvious favorite who comes in. I think it's going to be about Joe Biden as well throwing his, but even if Joe Biden gets in, I think you're gonna get Cory Booker for from the Senator from New Jersey. I think you're gonna come LA Harris, the Senator from California. Maybe you're going to get Oprah Winfrey or maybe. Said, no. For now, but I think it's probably going to be a pretty crowded stage as we're looking forward to those those those debates in the Democratic Party. And so I think blueberries product probably pretty serious. He's invested around eighty million dollars just this electoral season and trying to help flip the house of representatives on behalf of the Democrats. So that's a huge amount of money that he's invested in trying to wrench power from the Republicans. I mean, certainly I think he previously would have looked to run as a moderate, but but he was quite explicit that he just doesn't see a place for himself as you're suggesting in Trump's Republican party. The question is whether today's Democratic Party that is very much interested in some of these much more progressive candidates like camera Harris, like Lori Booker like Alexandria, Cossio Cortez the congresswoman who was just elected to the Bronx. Somebody who describes herself as a Democratic Socialist Party for whom these are the most enthralling an enthusiastic personalities, will it have a home for these very much centrist candidates people much closer to Hillary Clinton, like Mike Bloomberg or much cozier with Wall Street who are much cozier with the political center and certainly. Described himself as a democratic. So I'm not so weak. This isn't it. Carol. The fact that he is a product of Wall Street's mean, his legend is that you go to ten million dollar payoff from Salomon Brothers and turned it into this phenomenal multi-platform meteorology that we see today. It looks like politics billionaires, absolutely. But American students seem to worry too much about that. All presidential campaigns seemed to be funded by millions of billions of dollars of money flowing in. And I think anyone who is serious about standing for high office in the United States seems to have to. Go out there and earn a few millions before they can even contemplate doing it. He is somebody who is who was a big character who was a recognizable face. He's got a track record from when he was married, New York. He clearly, I think like a few others is looking beyond the Trump era, but it's interesting also that he makes the point that part of the reason that he's taken this step now is because he does think.
