"I think when you have a franchise quarterback like that, you just can't let him go like this is ridiculous. Like I got like guy, this young who's played this well during his NFL career. You don't find quarterbacks like that. You finally you got lucky. He really did get lucky you the Texans should have ended up with Mr Risky, not the Bears. But you got lucky within so just stick with it figure out a way to make him happy. Maybe you go out and find one of these big name wide receivers were gonna be available this offseason. I'm thinking of guys like Allen Robinson. Um Chris Godwin's probably going to stay in Tampa Bay that Kenny Golladay. There's gonna be a free agent like first guys, you can go out and sign and try to do whatever you can make a trade for Orlando Brown, like, do whatever. Try to make the sun watching happy. I think that's an easier path to success. Then trading them away and hoping you're going to be able to find a quarterback. You mentioned Justin Fields. You take the Jets at number two today. Look at Zach Wilson. We've heard rumors there out of BYU. Do we look at Justin Fields or did they stay packed with Sam Donald and look at somebody like Devante Smith, the Heisman Trophy winner to give them some skill position. Prowess that they don't really have. They've got a running game that actually stepped up late. They were going with Frank Gore for the first you know, half of the season and then a couple of young guys kind of stepped up and did a decent job down the stretch in the backfield. Men's came on late at a Baylor didn't get to see much of him but the Vontae Smith, although maybe a buck 70 soaking wet this guy, if you can't touch him, who cares what he weighs? He is that good jets need skill position players, and Darnell's really never had them. Yeah. I mean, Jamison Crowder is played. Well, I thought that he's gonna use a committed consistent front for them. But like you think of things you think of guys like Chris earned it who've never come through and things like that. And Be the Adam Gates offense and how many guys have thrived once Adam Gay says, Let them go and think of the guys like Kenyon Drake. Of course, he's been the number one Name that comes to mind. I don't know. I feel like it's it's hard to give up. On fam Donald at this point, but of course we're talking about a coach who has no tie to him. You know it's going to be up to Robert Soleil to figure out if he wants to go with it with Sam Donaldson probably doesn't have a lot of familiarity with them, you know, playing him playing with the Jets and, of course away with defensive coordinator The 40. Niners might not have liked the most. The most intimate knowledge of him is if you know he was playing in the A F C or something like that. So it that's gonna be the key question for me. My gut feeling is that they probably end up taking a quarterback. I think they probably want to start a new I think that they could probably get something. Sam Donald again. You think of the teams that I could be looking for a quarterback. Still, as this situation starts to, you know, develop, you know if it's the Jets can't analyst the Jets get knocked over? Within a incredible offer for the number two overall selection, and I think I know, I know. Philadelphia has hinted that they could be in the market of drafting a quarterback at number six. Perhaps you know, they move up to number two or the Washington that he wants to move up or somebody like that. Somebody really wows them with a pig. I expect them to take a quarterback, and I think that could mean that Sam Darnel becomes available. And again as I was talking about quarterbacks that perhaps our veterans But the Bears could end up with. I think that you know, I look it Sam's Arnold is a guy that I think has a lot of ability and could end up. Being somebody that again like Tannehill. It's a rebirth when he gets a new opportunity. All right, Adam, Adam rank. I gotta throw it at you. You mentioned. You know a guy like Alan Robinson. I mean, this is your guy right there in the windy city. I like this guy. I mean, this guy Hey, makes great catches. He really does. And you know, a little bit banged up here and there, but he'll play hurt. I know the Bears can't afford to let him go. What's your take on Robinson? Where does he go? Does he end up staying in the windy city? Is he somebody that maybe goes a little bit north and goes to Green Bay and helps out Aaron Rodgers. Got Don't let's not talk about that. We don't need to breathe that we know exist. Answer anything like that. I Alan Robinson is one of my favorite players. I think he's a top five receiver in this league. He leaves the NFL or led the NFL in contested attention. And when your quarterbacks or Nick Poles and Mitch travesty like that's not too big of a surprise You're gonna have to make a lot of contested catches. He's a straight up baller and I, You know, I'm going to be disappointed if he does end up leaving. But if the Bears don't get this quarterback situation, correct. I don't think there's much you can do to try to keep him there. I know that there have been some rumblings that perhaps The Bears will franchise him which and I don't think that's fair together like I like honestly is if if he wants to leave, like I understand, like I'm gonna support him, no matter where he goes, and even that situation that you threw out there. I wouldn't like it, but I would still support him. But I know what he know what he's going through. I'd listen. I've been a fan ever. I've been a fan of here since he was a Jackson. That was well, I mean, if he doesn't leave the Bears, I hope he goes to Jackson Hole so that I can I can still feel good about rooting for him and really any any situation he went..

"A D back with you this Monday and happy to be with you as well, You know. Hey, Ben Bradlee is going to join the show. He also was off last week. But he wasn't you just off from WGN radio as he took over the late night anchor duties, Channel nine. Interesting because that was a tremendously newsworthy week for Ben, who broke a big story. You know, he's the one who first posted and told the story. Of the Chicago Teachers Union leader who posted those poolside healthy shots in Puerto Rico talking about you know how great life was and what she was getting all that stuff just in embarrassing look. As they were making the argument. It was not safe to go back into schools. And Ben has heard a lot of reaction. As you might imagine, really places nationwide. News organizations nationwide picked up that story, and he's going to tell us Some of what he's hearing some of the things that have developed out of his initial reporting. They're coming up here in just a few minutes, but I want to circle over to you, Kev. Um and just get a couple lots going on the sports world. I watched with such disappointment, the Bears game and I know you did, too. And this is this is what you've been talking about. I've been talking about. It's like they kind of are the team that we thought they were. But at the end of the dates such a disappointing end and it just Wow. I mean, I think Jovon winds dropping that pass or not even getting close to that pass, just going through his arms and the inconsistencies that it pretty much played the Bears all season. Mr. Biscuit can't connect on a deep balls entire four years with the Bears, just for maybe a few of them sprinkled in. He just thought it was his fault, finally throws a perfect pass right into the hands of the von Whims. And it goes right through his arms. It's that kind of just rubs, you know, sums up the Bears 2020 2021 season. It's they couldn't get out of their own way. I mean, just so many opportunities. Yesterday, the Bank of Defense actually kept them in the game. For much of it. The offense was awful. I mean, they had three points in the first half of it. At a garbage time touchdown late in that game of Jimmy Graham, But I think now it's moving forward. What next? There are a lot of question marks with the Chicago Bears moving forward. Do you bring that Matt Matt Nagy? Seems like they're going to considering he was conducting exit interviews with players today. Why would you be doing that? If the Bears weren't gonna bring him back? What about Ryan Paces future? And then what about Mr Biscuit? All of a sudden, right? We've been arguing and talking about for four years. It was a bad pick traded capital to get him you missed on my Holmes and Watson. Now, all of a sudden, it's looking like a possibility. I'm not saying this is exactly what's going down. But like if the Bears want to bring back midst, Robiskie Even if they want to. There's a chance he goes in place somewhere else. So just when you might actually feel like you have a guy that you can grow around He ends up leaving. You know, they didn't pick up his 50 rookie option, which was the right move. I mean, there was no reason to do that, Um Look, I think Mitch Strabinsky could be successful in the right offense. So to me, in my opinion, if you're bringing back Mr Whiskey, you got to move on from that nag because Matt Maggie has not been able to develop them over the past four years. We saw yesterday. You know, Mr Risky had success the final four games of the season. In an offense that did what got him out of the pocket. Play action. Bootleg commit to the run. There was there was none of that. It was Mr Risky standing in a pocket yesterday, and the offense was, you know, produced next to nothing. So, um, just so many frustrating things about this Bears team. I just don't know. For those who say I want to blow it up. Let's move on. I don't really know if that's realistic. Or if that's something they should do. I mean, yeah, they made the playoffs this year. But we saw what it looks like when they play Legit Championship caliber teams. We saw what happening. It's the Packers. We saw what happened against the Saints yesterday, and the Saints didn't even look that good in the Bears couldn't even get past them. So it's uh there's a lot of question marks heading this offseason. I think the big one is what you gonna do with with Matt Maggie. And what you gonna do with Mitch? Too risky. You know, it doesn't seem like there's some reports history that didn't sound like the Bears were completely sold on Travis Key, but For me. It's like, OK, well, what are your better options for next year? If not Mitch to biscuit A really aren't a lot of great options. I think that is a tremendous question is who do you say goodbye to? Who do you say goodbye to? And I'm gonna ask Toby about that. Abramovich. Who would he say goodbye to? I have a feeling a sense. I know who that will be. E think he's been called for for a couple years now. Firing certain people. Yep, I think so. But I was going to sort of his circle back on that. Make sure that that's what I do. And I just this is the time when you actually get to sort of those decisions will be made right? Pretty pretty pretty soon. I think so. I mean, if you are going to move on from these guys you wanted and look if they do move on from Ryan Pace and Ormat Nagy Something has to change structurally with the Bears front office. Ted Phillips looks sort of decision making is as he had played a role in over the past few years like you can't just keep having the same people hire new people. What what would be the difference? You know what I mean? So if there's if you bring in a whole new head of football operations and let him handle of football, McCaskey's kind of step aside in that regard, so Major changes could be coming. Although I kind of get the sense they might just give it one more run. Be honest with me, Kevin here. Cancer could honestly okay. Did you watch the Bears game on Nickelodeon? Watch this. It's SpongeBob in the end zone..

"Earlier today. The Buffalo Bills advanced to the divisional round with the 27 24 win over the Indianapolis Colts. And right now the Rams and Seahawks were playing close. 1 20 to 13. Los Angeles is ahead, but Seattle is driving, looking to tie the football game up. Let's take more of a look at tomorrow and the three games On that slate. Let's head to Chicago right now to be joined by Mark Powell, Tash and take a look at Bears and saints Mark appreciate coming on today. Thanks for having me appreciate it. No appreciate it. Let's start here. Chicago. It takes until week 17 to make the playoffs. How did the bears make the playoffs? It's actually a pretty good question. You know, the Bears have never. If not, this is the first time the varies a bit of wild card teams 1994. They usually don't back in or even make it in week 17 so Pretty fortunate. They had a six game losing streak at the end of it. The last two games are really disastrous losses to the to the Packers and the lines that had a lot of people thinking the Bears did major regime change. I mean, all the way to the top. Clue the ownership. In fact, the people were so upset about it the way things were going, But then their reality gets pretty soft schedule. The lines, the Texans, the Vikings and the Jaguars and ended up winning. You know, three of those games s so you know, the game against the Packers gave them just enough room. Obviously, with the Cardinals kind of flapping, so you know, they backed in here They are, how dangerous they are, is anybody's guess. But ah, no doubt about it. They have a huge huge hill to climb against the Saints. Tomorrow. I feel like there's sort of three separate parts of the bear season. There is starting Mitch at the very beginning of the season, there is sitting Mitch down for Nick Foles. And then acknowledging the Nick Foles wasn't the best option for them going back to Mr Whiskey and then making the run. Take us through the quarterback conversations, the quarterback carousel that's happening right now in Chicago. Well, girl you like you said. I mean, you know, they started, um, you know, with Mr Risky and you know, I'll tell you, you know, the full thing did not work out. But you got to really understand that the schedule was set up totally against the way this season kind of played out because Um, Nicole space. Much better defense is that you know, he faced the Colts, The Buccaneers, the Rams, the Saints and also the Bears. Offensive line was really influx. The Bears lost their best offensive lineman James Daniel's early in the season, They lost one of their starting right tackle Bobby Massey. At one point they were starting guys that you never even heard of against Tennessee. They started are linked in hand. Right and left guard. They started Sam Muster for its center. They started Alex bars at right guard. And and in fact, they're one game he even started expires. It's center. I think that was the Tennessee game. He'd never played center at any level of any of football before so This is how so? So things were really in flux and and and it's just a badge in bad shape. And then they started to solidify things. When Cody White here got it came back, and they put sand must for its center of the move White here over to the left side, the left guard and they settled their their offensive line. And that coincided with Mitch. Too risky coming back. They also tweaked their scheme a little bit. Lot of rollouts moving pocket. Quick, shorter throws disdaining deep balls. Drew Pinsky is not good. And so they tailor their offense for true Boesky. So it looks like Yeah, True Biscuit was the guy They should've stayed with all along, but in reality they had to kind of go through this process. Get here because when true risky came back into the starting lineup, the schedule East up they got the offensive line settles, and they tailor the offense for him, so that kind of set him up to succeed. So I don't think was necessary as much necessarily a knock and unfolds as much of it looks kind of the people on the outside. What's the plan? Long term for Chicago at the quarterback position? Because I would guess just following the conversation enough from the outside, It doesn't seem like they believe that Mitch is the long term answer. Hard to believe that they also think that Nick Foles is the long term answer. What do you see them doing over the next six months at the position? Well, I'll tell you the truth. That is anybody's guess right now because there was a point in time, and maybe they're still there where you know, when Mitch was on the on the bench, it was clear they're ready to move on. He played really well with at least efficient, You know, Like I said, the tailor the office form. They played to a strength and he was actually efficient and he's kind of gotten back in the picture a little bit, But most of that is because what other options they don't have a high draft, so they're not gonna get one of those guys in the top 56. I think. Are going to be 20 or below. So the so the odds of getting some starter ah of quarterback in the future in the first round, not is likely so they don't end in free agency is not, I don't think really bodes well for them either. So now it's looking like too risky might be the best option. The other, And there's also the possibility, maybe even likely that they're ready to move on Met. Maggie has seen um ah enough. A true biscuit in his office. And I think he realizes that you know he needs just a better fit and And somebody could run his offense because because Maggie has had to kind of kind of tweak his office a little bit, I think to make true risky work, so I think so. There's also possibly they could move on. I'm not very definite here because nobody really knows what they're thinking is So it's very hard to say, um, true, risky could be back. But if he does, I don't think it will be as the sure fire starter. He will have competition falls under contract. He will be back and he's got. You also have to kind of keep an eye on because, like I said, I think that he got kind of a raw deal, and you really didn't get a good idea of what he can do with a solid office because they were never anything close to being solid when he was in there. Right now talking to Mark Powell Tash, who covers the Chicago Bears. You bring up Matt Maggie, where are bears fans on their on their coach, Because there certainly was a time they were very unhappy about the offense. And a lot of that is predicated on the development of Mr Risky but to rally and make the playoffs with the clear deficiency that they have at the quarterback position. You have to attribute a lot of that to the coach..

"The Bears this season have been a drastically different team. With Mr Biscuit is their starting quarterback than they were with Nick Foles. Now I was in the category of people that thought that Nick Foles was a far superior option to the midst Robiskie. I was crushing the Bears for making the decision to start. Mitch at the very beginning of the season. It's hard to deny the numbers, especially when we got to see what the team look like. With one person as their quarterback opposite the other this year, Chicago went six and 36 and three with Mr Risky as their starting quarterback. I know Wow, I don't believe it myself. They were a very different offense with Nick Foles is their quarterback. They were six and three with Mitch. They were two and five with Nick Foles two in five. With fools. So I'm not looking at this game like it's gonna be a cakewalk for the New Orleans Saints. They're the better team. Obviously, there are major favorite, especially from a playoff perspective. There are 10 point favorite in the game. Against the Chicago Bears. I think the Bears are going to be very competitive. I think they're going to keep that game very close. I think that Chicago especially when you think about breeze and his limitations, and who knows what Alvin Kamara looks like coming back off, coverted. I think the Bears were going to give the Saints and absolute handful And then Browns and Steelers in the nightcap game where Cleveland has had about as tumultuous of a playoff week that one team can have. But these two teams are super familiar. Pittsburgh has typically dominated and one these battles. But Cleveland's looking for respect here and they're looking to sort of established that they're here. I think tomorrow is gonna be a lot of fun. A lot of fun. Was very leery of them expanding the playoffs. But now that we got here, we got this extra game. Like you know what?.

"Skeleton and another couple guy when they were down, everybody. The quarterback of suicide It's Tom Brady. And I look at this. The game work in Washington front. Keep it close early. Yes. Can this be relatively low scoring behalf? Yes, but I just think it's some point. That Buck's offense pulls away. They get a turnover. They get a short field, they pull away. This feels like 24 to 16 kind of game where they win it, Wash. It just never could muster enough points and they cover the seven after I will go washing tip of a minus 7.5. In game number three are let's go to Sunday at one o'clock. This just feels like a playoff game. The Baltimore Ravens, the Tennessee Titans. I try to think of the games They played off top, my head that it stand out. They play one last year, obviously where the Titans went into Baltimore and they out bully the bully. Then you go back to way back in the day. The year that Ray Lewis is Ravens went on and won the Super Bowl. They went on the road to Tennessee to buy and beat up any Georgia Steve McNair. This there's some playoff history between these two teams, and this just feels like a spot for revenge, and I'll throw this in there. This season may be the lowest point of Baltimore season. And when we all kind of realized, Oh, they're not as good as last year. It was when Tennessee went in to Baltimore and stole the wind from the light out, bully them for a win in November this year. They have all this bad blood, the revenge and then It's amazing when you watch how good the Ravens have run the football last five weeks, so we know Derrick Henry is going to run the ball for the for the Titans and the hill, right it well. But I saw saw the city in amazement. In the Super Bowl era. No team has had a five game running stretch like the Ravens Rod right now, ever. I mean, think about that for a second. The Bills with O. J. Simpson all those Mike Shanahan Broncos teams that ran the ball on everybody. Larry Zanca and the Dolphins like nobody in the history. The suit bowler has had five games and they've run for as many yards as this Ravens team. They're just on a roll and they are in a remarkable role running the ball. I think they're gonna run the ball down the Titans throats and run right through them. Ravens minus three on the road in Tennessee, Game number two on Sunday. It's very rare. I'm not excited for a playoff game. I am like I'm not excited to watch Mr Risky trying.

"He didn't get the play last week because he was on the cove in 19 list. He's eligible to play Sunday, and star receiver Michael Thomas is give us an idea of of the availability of those two guys who are huge playmakers for New Orleans. Yeah, I mean, it's look like for weeks that Michael Thomas will come back. The question is how effective he'll be. He's been doing with an ankle injury all season. This one of the best wide receivers and football. Um, and he hasn't really been the same guy even when he was playing, so they gave him three weeks off. So we'll see if he comes back Stronger and then album Camaro was on the Colbert List last week. Uh, he he tweeted last night that he's gonna be back. Um, he was practicing remotely using some crazy technologies that contains lead up set up for him yesterday, so he should be able to go the big loss for the faintest trade. Hendrickson, who is their top back, get her this year defense and he's out. So that was a big development today and maybe that'll help because there's one thing I disagree with you with Kevin is, I think the Bears are going to be more aggressive. Offensively. I agree that keeping the ball away from the Saints is a good idea. They're gonna win. They're going to take some shots down the field, which they really haven't done in this recent stretch with Mr Risky, and so maybe having one of the top defensive players out of the saints will help them get that done. What do you guys I'm so glad that I was gonna say How about a mat? Maggie? Trick play. What happened to those creative trick plays for Matt? Maggie? A couple years I've been calling for it all year. Adam. Maybe we dials one up to get things going on Sunday. The problem is when they don't work. It's horrible, Humiliating that Maggie is the worst play caller in the NFL. So he's not calling the plays either, right, so it would be out of his hands. Maybe You get no decay. He called the bad place Just as bears Twitter, Right. What do you guys make of that? And I'm sorry. I don't have the exact details that I hadn't thought of it till just now. That comparison of Aaron Rodgers to Mitch Strabinsky. Was it for the first five seasons? That was a troll tweet. Steve, don't take the bait. Really? It was just people's. But Mitch is numbers are as good or better. Yeah, but they were. They were numbers that Adam Adam, you take it to me. That's what it was to be just a Twitter bait post. If you know if you know what we're so just to review that for people who didn't hear it. I mean he their numbers when it comes to touchdowns, wins and losses, Quarterback rating. They were all very similar, Correct. Yeah, I remember seeing that and I'm like, Here's the thing you can pick and choose staff to make any argument you want really is what you could do. So I do remember seeing that and there was something we're like. Yeah, they picked out three or four different fast. They look pretty similar to Aaron Rodgers. The first few years of his career. Um, you know they didn't have intercepted in the end zone. Yes, that e mean there's a big difference here is the one cop If you want to look at Um, you know, I'm the bright side of maybe something that's remotely possible And at least this was the comp Last year people brought up with Eli Manning was pretty average to below average in his first three NFL season, but I think it was his fourth year where things took off. So I'm not really sure that that applies anymore. Look, I'll say this about mentions what I always say. Mr Boesky grades out to me as a back end starter. He is a starter in the NFL. I think that's what some people are just wholly against him failed to admit or want to admit. But that doesn't mean that you should just settle for that. You should always be looking for your Aaron Rodgers and to put the Bears of tough position should they bring him back. Maybe because you could do a lot worse. The Bears have had a lot worse quarterbacks and guys who are back in starters in the NFL on so I think there's an argument for that. But at the same time, they should always have their eye on the future and getting that guy because until they find that guy It's still gonna be the Chicago Bears. All right, Adam Hook. Thanks for joining us a big weekend. We'll talk again soon. All right, guys. Enjoy the game. Kevin. Good weekend. You're listening to Chicago's afternoon news one more time from Mary Vandeveld 32 degrees tonight Cloudy, breezy, little colder 28 for the low Tomorrow cloudy and 36 still a bit slow on the inbound.

"So I think all those factors probably come together. Speaking of the gas, we continue the quarterback carousel. Which team do you think will feature Mitchell Tre Biscuits? His quarterback next year will be the Bears or somebody else. I think it will be the bears. I mean, I think he's shown enough. Down the stretch here. I'd be surprised. I mean, The worst it listen and ask the Cleveland Browns. What it's like to stop and start and stop and start and stop and start with quarterbacks. Okay? I mean, they've been back in the league since 99 believe Baker Mayfield is their 30th different starter. 30th Okay? And, um, it's like changing head coaches every couple of years. All right, There's you've got established some sort of continuity, and that's been the Browns biggest problem. And, um, you know that That's an issue if you give up on a quarterback on the Bears have had their own quarterback issues. Finding someone. So one Monday, Jay Cutler for quite a stretch. But he never really delivered the goods. You know, and you know, they really I know the NFC title game and 2010. It was 10 years ago. I haven't been to the playoffs a lot since then. So, um I think you have to know. I don't know if you sign Mr Risky to a long term deal. Okay. I mean, he'll be will be What to just see what they do with him. So one, But I think they'd be making a mistake Rich obviously, given the progress that he's shown, and here's the thing about two biscuits Okay, Everybody can lament and people lament. You know, John wants and backgrounds. I understand all that. Well, when Ryan Pace dealt for him, he knew what he was getting in the wrong part. What do you have? 12 College starts? Yeah. Okay. Watson and my homes were finished products in terms of I should say finished in terms of a lot of experience of playing quarterback to college. Okay, that's not What you were getting in, Mr Risky, and it is taking a little longer than the other guys who you know were pro boy. No mixture. I think Mr Muskie did make a pro bowl and so on, But, um and people develop a different times. I mean, can you imagine the Buffalo would have given up off Josh Allen after two years? Absolutely. Perhaps that is the case in point right there. Sometimes it takes a little longer. For the light to flip on, Russell. Your light has always been on for us. So we always appreciate it. We love your contributions We couldn't do without you. Thanks for everything. Not only this year, but past years as well. Thanks again. We could never repay you. You got his Y appreciate that I love coming on here rich you and I go back to the the older days when one radio was in black and white, right? Exactly. 30 years. Russell 30 years ago, I had the wind up by the wind up the booth time. How time has flown, But it Z always been a pleasure. So thank you again. Thank you, sir. All right, happy and healthy. New Year to Russell Baxter could always follow him on Twitter at backs. Be a ex football guru. Week. 17. And all but one of the early games has scoring dolphins on the board with a field goal. Three. Nothing in Buffalo Ravens of the three. Nothing lead over the Bangles. The Browns and Nick should run on top of the Steelers. Seven Nothing. The Giants score, but missed the point after six. Nothing over the Cowboys. Patriots leave the Jets seven to nothing and the Bucks on top of the Falcon. Seven. Nothing. All the Vikings and Lions are scoreless. "I would sense That this would be more of An experienced quarterback coming in here to look for New England rather than a you know, unless they go and they're they're not gonna draft high enough to get you know. Fields or Lawrence and so on. So it'll be interesting to see what Bill Belichick thuds. And, you know, Yeah, obviously hasn't been in this situation awfully long time. And, um, but be honest with you if I was the Patriots I'd be looking for an experienced quarterback. And drafting like crazy to fix their defense. What happened to New England's defense? Well, I think what you answer with the previous part of it is don't know Dont'a Hightower know Patrick Chung, among others, but again, and a little bit of regression from from Stefan Gilmore, who ended the season with an injury. So I think all those factors probably come together. Speaking of the gas, we continue the quarterback carousel. Which team do you think will feature Mitchell Tre Biscuits? What he have 12 College starts. Yeah, Okay. Watson and my homes were finished products in terms of I should say finished in terms of a lot of experience of playing quarterback to college. Okay, that's not What you were getting in Mitch. Too risky. And it is taking a little longer than the other guys who you know were pro boy. There's much more I own football to get to here on CBS Sports radio..

"Consulted with his family, his agent, We talked about it, and we felt like that was gonna be the best thing to do for him and for our team, and so it's pretty amazing. You know, I spoke with Jared and got some screws put in there, and he actually should be available. If we're able to handle business, you know for the for the playoffs, which is pretty amazing. That is amazing. It's also amazing that he dislocated his thumb when he broke. It popped it back in and was able to finish the game last weekend. Now for the Rams, it's been a roller coaster ride, as it has been for the Arizona Cardinals. But nothing prepares you for this. A rookie QB who's never taken a snap in an NFL game. Who is now the starter in a winner. Take all affair John Woolford. At least he's got Chamakh vases, head coach routine. What I normally take her. I mean, Received. It's a little bit different knowing that you're playing. But my approach entire year has been trying prepare like through the story. So not much has changed. Got a little jump on the game plan. He's full of it. Not much has changed. Yeah, I'm sure His emotions are the exact same as they are for a week when he's planning on holding the clipboard, I get it. The preparation is largely the same because there's a backup QB. You always have to be ready to step on the field. Come on. Don't tell me it's largely the same. E can't help but I laugh. One of the people laugh. It's not the same. You're about to go out there in a winner take all game and you've never played in the NFL before. Welcome to the NFL Rookie. Pretty amazing. Also, the Chicago Bears control their own fate. You want to talk about a strange twist to wrap up 2020 how in the world they start out five and one, they lose six games in a row. But they've rallied with Mr Robiskie as their starting quarterback. Who, by the way, does not have a contract for next year. I'm not sure Matt Maggie is going to be under contract for next year. Three straight wins for the Chicago Bears. If they beat the Packers on Sunday, they are in as an NFC wild card. I think that the difference has been our spirit just are our mindset, our energy at practice. Um, our desire to wanna get better in practice and then have it come to life and execute on Game day, So it's really the little things just the willingness to do do the small task in between the work week. Mr Risky telling you what is different, he says. It's the little things Well, now they have a chance to get into the playoffs. So this is another one of the nutty story lines going into Sunday week 17 in the NFL, So we're gonna talk Steelers and Brown's coming up a little more. I want you to hear from Kevin Stefanski, Baker Mayfield. Of course, they've had their facilities close for the better part of the last couple days, though, the NFL is indicating there is not a knack tive outbreak on the Browns roster, which means they're not planning at least at this point on postponing that game. Oh, could you imagine? Of course, that would be so so. Like this year in the NFL. I can't say so 2020 anymore because it's It's not thank heavens, but it Z wouldn't be a shock to me if we had one game but had to be played on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday. That's a period this week. Cleveland. This is the only year in NFL history in which Gays have been played on every single day of the week.

"There's no question about it. How would they deal too risky? What do you mean? How if they decide to go to go in a different direction? What does it mean? How will they? How will they deal with him? Well, he's gonna have free agent because they didn't give him that fit their options. So, um, you know if they don't want to keep him, it's just a Z Z is letting him go to free agency. I think the bigger challenge Might actually be re keeping him because the other side of this is to what is Mr Risky? What I d o And does he feel like this is the best place for him? Succeed going forward. Now I think the way this has played out the last few weeks. I think you could make an argument that it it could be in the best interest of both sides. The workout. Sort of a reasonable, reasonable extension for two or three years. Potentially, that's not massive money. Um But also it's not going to be third cheap either. I mean, Stravinsky's done enough here to show that he's probably one of the best 32 starting quarterbacks in the league and no one's arguing, and he's like a top tier quarterback, but it's someone else going to pay him to potentially start for the next year, with some of the quarterback issues going on in this week. Absolutely. And so it's not gonna be dirt cheap, but it also will be terribly expensive to bring him back. All right, Adam over the Bears insider, and we will all be watching when they take on the Packers here, eh? You know again, not a must win, but it feels I think you're right. It feels like a must win. The playoff game. That's the way I look at it. It's a playoff game. Um You just got to get it done. It's tough is it's going to be against us really good package team. All right. Well, we'll be watching. Thanks, Adam. All right time to check the weather and traffic with Gabe Salgado and Eric Tonight we'll have clear skies and light winds, but it will be chilly with a low of 16. Tomorrow. However, we'll start with increasing clouds. Then at 3 P.m.. "Do you think that's a possibility? And I think it would be a smart play and some in some ways, but at the same time, I think that the Chicago Bears stand age really wants to have that security that true quarterback under center that they have confidence in that they feel like they can take them to the next level. And again. I don't think Mr Drew Pinsky is necessarily proven that thus far, but at the same time, it's gonna be hard to Go against signing Mr Risky to one or two year deal to kind of prove that contract to see if he can really come in and usher in a new era of Chicago bears football, But so I haven't heard anything specifically about that. But I do think that that could be a possibility. Jordan. Johnny CBS forces My guest here on the NFL rush with dead day he joins via the Progressive Guess line now talking about quarterback chess matches. Maybe that's the best way to describe this. I don't know if Miami is fully sold on to and part of the reason is because Brian Flores is treating both his quarterbacks like their pictures in a baseball game. Which is a metaphor that we hear all the time in sports, But maybe not something that you act upon. What did you think of Brian Florida's decision to kind of put the closer Ryan Fitzpatrick as he put it into the game last night? And how do you think that stunts to his growth? I mean, that was such an interesting I mean, that wasn't why don't we an entertaining game, right? I watched my family We were jumping up and down with Ryan Fitzpatrick made what was clearly the throw of the year. While his head is getting twisted around for the backing. He lays out a dime, which ended up being the game when he throw But when it comes to this quarterback situation, you know, I just find it interesting. It's it's hard to go against Brian floors in the sense of I like him as a head coach. I like some of the decisions that he made obviously was right to reinsert Ryan Fitzpatrick under center of last night to try to get the win, and he ended up coming out on top, keeping those playoff hopes alive. But I agree with you. I do think that in some ways this stunt that quarterbacks girl no quarterback. He's a starting quarterback in the NFL, like Steve pulled off the sideline, even once or twice a game when you re inserting a guy like Taysom Hill and not church, your braces and a fan of that, always that messes up prism. It messes up momentum. You want to keep that starting quarterback warm. I'm sure to was not the biggest fan of it in the world. But at the same time, there are some question marks about to his performance. He's not reading the field. Well, I think Kurt Warner was broadcasting the game last night, he said, something that was interesting. He that Ryan Fitzpatrick was trying to teach to what open is in the NFL. It's a little different than when you're going to wide receivers at the University of Alabama. It's different, and I think that Sue is still has to go through that stepping stone. I think that he could probably accomplished that this offseason, but it's gonna be interesting to see what Brian Floor has done moving forward if the Dolphins can Andy reached the postseason. We're knocking on the door of the playoffs. Jordan. What would your level of disappointment be if we don't get Fox is crazy 8k cameras in all of the playoff games they have this year. Longman those really sexy last week. I'm sure you want you watching the Washington game with the Seattle Seahawks, and it looked like we were playing something that was even better than a video game. If that makes that those better than a video game is better than real life, it was almost like we were right there in the action. I hope that the thing that they do they put into protocol when it comes to playoff games for Fuck. I was a huge fan of it, and I'm glad to see that that's the future. Big game tonight playoff implications on the line Tennessee at Green Bay. There's snow all over the field in Lambeau. I think I've seen every every Packers fan on my timeline, a retweet the image of what the stadium looks like from a Tennessee perspective, what the Titans have to do right to take down the current king in the NFC. Yeah, I know when you go to a Lambo, the frozen time trying to play the Packers, and it's snowing all over the place. It's usually a good thing for the Packers. But I think that there's a possibility. This could actually Bothwell for the Titans because we know they're offensive game plan totally revolved around the heroics of King Derrick Henry. And he's gonna be toting the rock a lot tonight in the stone. Listen, This guy is an absolute monster. It's gonna be hard to tackle him when it's like 12 degrees outside. I think that he has a big game. You know, when you shift your focus over to the Green Bay Packers side of things we saw what they did against Dalvin Cook down the cook absolutely rushed up the gut. He got everything he wanted earlier this year against the Packers rush defense, So that's why I think Derrick Henry is gonna have a good game. Not when it comes to the Packers officer side of things they are. We see dude great when it comes to passing the ball to Aaron shows, and, of course, the Vontae Adams. I wonder if that's gonna be.

But the Packer lost showed they have work to do to be contenders for more than that. And also look at the numbers. They aren't eye poppingly great from Nick Foles, either, but there was a palpable difference in the tempo of the game. The speed of the offense. The flow for the Chicago Bears up honestly on both sides of the football. Once Nick Bulls took over his quarterback midway through the third quarter, it was clear that they needed to do something. "The Bears 1913 in the game That was just it was there for the taking for the Bears. They really was. I'll break it down. First up, Vikings turned the ball over. Bears respond by turning the ball over, gave it right back to Minnesota. Biking score on that play. You just heard. They're nice One. Catch my Adam feeling first of the two touchdowns for Adam Esso likes Take a seven to nothing. Lead short field goal for the Bears cut it to seven and three bikes or driving. Kirk Cousins. Interception sets up of Chicago Field goal just before the half So halftime It's Minnesota seven. Chicago six. Good game. Well, I shouldn't say that competitive game. Is actually a boring game, but of 76. It is what it is fast moving. First half opening kickoff second half Cordell Patterson runs that the distance from the Bears. So they take a 13 7 lead. They don't go for two. Which I'm not a proponent of, you know, 99 times out of 100. I wouldn't have killed them, though. Had that gun for two there because it was looking like this was going to be a low, low, low scoring game on one possession game. I mean, it had 1913 red all over. It really did what? It's a higher scoring game. I don't fish for these points, but when it's a low scoring game Wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world for the Bears there to go for two and get a seven point lead, But they go for one to get the lead. It's 13 7. Great, by the way, your Patterson that touchdown return for him. Hi down for most in NFL history or a special team. Touchdowns returned for kickoff bears the Here's the turning point of the game, so the Bears are rolling, right? They got all the millennium in the world. And they forced the bikes after that return kick off for a touchdown place is going nuts, old 5000 fans and the bears sports The Vikings on a three and out and the Bears must the point. And that gives the black Kings a short field. They kick on Lee a field goal. So the Bears is still living in 13 10, but it got Minnesota of right back in the game. Hey, really? It's just changed that, you know. Bears rolling. They returned the opening kick for a touchdown. They forced the bikes three and add to get to get the football right around their own 30 35 yard line. Who knows? Maybe something happens. They score, they go up two scores. But they turned the ball over. They give it to the bikes. They only keep the field goal, so they're still down. But it's just that there was an opportunity they have to Chicago to really take control of this football game. Instead, the Vikings kick a field goal. They later take another field goal too tight and 13 on. Basically, the Bears offense was just invisible second half then and get there first. Second half first down until there were four to happen is left in the fourth quarter. They had three straight three. Announce. Maybe four and I didn't go back and double check. I don't was at least 3 4.5 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Was there first and four possessions by possessions first out. I mean, she just brutal judge just absolutely brutal. They only had 125 yards of total offense through three quarters. Less than 200 from the game and most of them. That offense, you know, came in the final two minutes when they put together a couple of first downs because they were trying desperately to try but just brutal. Nick Foles leaves the game less than a minute left with him with a leg injury or a hip injury. They were really sure as of last night, I'm sure he's gonna have them. Alright, X rays, But it was Cardinal appealed, didn't look good. So bears lose it. They lose their fourth in a row, likes get their third straight win. Kirk Cousins gets his first Monday night football when he's 19. And there you go. Bears head into a bye week, and the Vikings, meanwhile, have a pretty easy schedule. They got dollars next. They got Caroline on their way. Jackson belonged there as well. So they got three games coming up that they're gonna be favorited. Couple those at home as well. Now that their table have blown any of them. They're not that good this year. But, you know, I will say, and four and five with three winnable games, you know would be the craziest thing in the world to see them in seven and five after three more weeks. So good job by their defense. Good job, But the Bears defense and really, the story is the Bears office. I'm here. It is just awful. Just awful. And here is the story that didn't get into last night. You know when falls went down? It wasn't Mr Risky that went in the game. It was Tyler Bray. Why you ask because for whatever reason, and I don't know, Monday night football crew, you know, they're horrible that they are the word. We thought it was bad. You know, last year this crew was even worse. I mean, they're flatter than flat. They bring nothing to the table that they're, you know, all good guys. I'm sure it's hard for me as a dolphin fan to be ripping Brian greasy son of the great, You know, Bob, greasy. I know Steve Levy from used to work with him when we wrote that after he had many moons ago, so it's not easy for me to say, but they're awful. They are boring. Just know Pa's eyes. Nothing right and minister or Chicago. They didn't activate midst Robiskie Last night he was inactive. Tyler Bray was the backup. And while you may say, Well, who cares? Got Well, you know that's pretty significant, you know, in a game in which Nick Foles does go out, and then there is a minute left a chance for them to make a last second drive and the game in which Nick Foles and that bears offense was just awful. They they produced two field goals. You know, yet the one touchdown was on a kickoff return. You know, it's somewhere along the line. I think of Travis Key was on the sidelines. Someone would have suggested, you know, maybe you know what I know. They've turned the page and this guy, But maybe just maybe it's time to bring him back in here because falls is not getting the job done. He's just not getting the job done. So for the first time this season for biscuit was not active. I don't know if that means he's closed in trouble behind the scenes. I don't know if he's done something for the Bears to just completely turn the page on him. They didn't pick up his contract for next season. They had an opportunity to do that last year, and they said No, we're not doing it. So he will be a free agent at the end of this year. But that doesn't mean you still can't use them. I mean, there's gonna be a ton of guys that are gonna be free agents on that Bears team that are still getting used to. That's very Again Monday night. Crew did an awful job. They didn't bring it up and in discussing it was kind of a throne. An afterthought with literally, you know, late for court, and they throw in there. Oh, by the way, Tyler braised the backup. Like really, You know, you're talking about a first round pick. You're talking about a pick that the Bears used and moved up to grab your talking to the guy that was taking ahead of, you know, Pat Mahomes. You know the short Watson I get. I know the Bears are similar, turning the page on him. But this is another chapter in turning the page when you don't even make the guy active. Yeah, I don't know if he's bitching and complaining..

I heard earlier this week, people So why don't they switch and put white hair back at the guard position and move? Another guy into the centre is like, Oh, my God. What? Here finally found the spot He can play. The center position he doesn't hold for holding. He doesn't get called for false starts. He doesn't get any of that stuff, and I think he's been doing it. You just have to win the next game. And now this next game coming up is Monday against the Rams and The more I look at this, especially after seeing the Rams against the 40 Niners last Sunday night. I think the Bears could go out to Southern California and beat the Rams on Monday night. Your thoughts. Wow. Really? Yeah, I do. And what? Not for Jaeger. I don't think the Rams are as good as people think they are. They're getting too much credit. I like the idea that they went out a day early. They're flying out there today instead of flying out tomorrow for a Monday night game. They're going to get some practice. They're going to get adjusted to Southern California. I think this bears team is going to come back with a victory on Monday night. No, you know, I don't. I don't disagree with you about golf.
