I won't detain you much longer, Mr Richie. Just one or two more questions. Well, did clearly have a wife. Yes, he did. If he knew he was dying in prison, it's quite possible. He made an attempt to get word to her to tell her where the money was hidden. Have made the attempt, but he couldn't possibly have succeeded. He was too closely watched her after all. $400,000 is a lot of money. A lot off money. Yes, you could almost buy a second hand car with it. If I hadn't been fully covered by insurance, my firm would have gone under in the face of a lost that large and no. Mr Templar. If I might ask, the question is why this sudden urgency is three o'clock in the morning business. An old man was tortured to death. Then a fellow named O'Brien, who came calling on the old Man was shot to death. But before he was killed Oh Brand told me was tracking down. $400,000 has been stolen E c. I could've bought a Cadillac for cheaper, mister, but I wasn't in any position to haggle. I know. What do you know what I want to find out? I know that Collins Cars cars worth about $20, but it's something else. Where's in the neighborhood of $400,000? You know, that's an awfully nice neighborhood. Nice and exclusive. "Hello everybody. Welcome to audio judo. I'm Matthew I'm kyle. Thanks for joining us today. Indeed Al How're you doing? I'm doing pretty good. How are you doing well? That's good it's good to hear. Superman does good. I do well very nice. Thanks thirty rock. We got some business I do. Oh good let's talk earlier this week. We were lucky enough to talk to One of my musical idols. Fish the ex lead singer of a progressive rock band from that. Was that still around now. But was very popular in the eighties Very continues to popularity in Europe not so much in the states The band's name was Meridian fish is about to release his final studio album later this year and he was gracious enough to join us from his home in Scotland and chat for about forty five minutes or so. It was great Since our timeline might be out of wack currently That episode mice most likely aired before this one did so if you are joining us for the first time to listen to this episode. I encourage you to go back. And listen to that one as well Gave us some great info about the current state of the music industry regarding re Corona Virus. Yeah and some other super stuff as well as well as cooking. Lovely lamb dinner for his mother while he was on the phone with us so that was a great interview. I really enjoyed it. That was fun is fun. Talk to once. You can understand what he's saying. I'm just kidding. That's surprisingly had no problem with that. Just a couple words yet. A Scottish before we had talked to matthew was like Ilyas a Scottish brogue in his voice and I was like okay. So I'm really going to pay attention. I picked it right up. I don't know how good I mean. It wasn't fancy than me. I guess that's good. Yeah there was only one time where I was kind of like. What was that word but that I think we both looked at each other. Like what the heck was that word but we got ammos great. We got it through context. I believe yeah also Again since I don't know exactly when this will be airing I'm not entirely sure where we will be. In the Corona Virus Saga Twenty Twenty. Either way the crisis it has affected everyone including independent artists trying to carve out a living back in October. We interviewed a band of Kentucky. Named the cold stares they're great ban really wonderful guys And this crisis hit them. Quite hard. Cancelled all their gigs. That they had lined up for the summer as well as putting a stop to some of their teaching gigs for the time. Being since most of those are done in person they put together a special t shirt that they are selling for twenty five bucks to help supplement their lost other. I bought a couple And if you'd like to buy one or just have a look at them Encourage you to go to their merchandise site. It's the cold stares dot square dot site. Anything you can do to help out would be appreciated that includes paying for some downloads. Listen their music or whatever but your independent artists out. There is most likely struggling big time so if you want to listen to them or you have one in particular that you enjoy listening to throw him a couple of downloads. Do whatever you to help them out because this is a very difficult time for everybody. Yes it is. That's all I have for old business. So this week's choice. Nineteen ninety four album throwing copper by the group live just so we're clear. This was one of my favorite bands from that period. And this record is probably my top fifteen. Those lists are always really difficult kind of weird to make. I'm not saying that this is one of the top fifteen records ever made or that. I even think this is one of the best top fifteen records that I could listen to. It's just one of those records that I go back to a few months and listen to us to have a permanent place in my multi. Cd Changer and it's one of those records at shows up in my top plays when spotify. Geezer your list at the end of the year. So was it trunk mounted multi play. Cd player it was. That's nice. It's very ah Nice. He had a removable one as well. That was an different car. But Julio that was a fancy with the little handle how Mr Rich Roller Rare. It's all it's all for the music so live. The band consists of four guys. Chad gracey on drums Chad Taylor on guitar to Chad's a Patrick Dole Heimer on bass and Ed Kowalczyk on vocals and guitar. They have been together since the mid eighties when they were all in their middle teens. Typical suburbanite garage band They were founded in York. Pennsylvania originally called public affection but renamed themselves live in the nineteen eighties right before they got a record deal. Oh they regularly played. Cbgb's in New York. Those concerts help secure their first record deal. Nineteen Ninety one nineteen ninety-one New Year's eve of Nineteen ninety-one to be exact. They released their first album mental jewelry. And that was the first I ever heard of them or saw them to be more precise oh I saw them and heard them for the first time on. Mtv's twenty minutes It was for song called operation. Spirit the tyranny of tradition and it was very direct for me when I first thought it caught me off guard. It was very jarring so I was at that time. Nineteen year old kid about three months away from meeting my future wife smoking. A lot of we'd drink a lot of beer very angry and confused about my life and prospects I've been raised. Catholic went to Catholic school and was jaded mad about a lot of things I had been raised to believe. We're true. My parents were devout Catholics. My was a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church which in Catholicism is as close as you can get to being a priest without actually becoming one more than anything because he had been married. I my mom also had a certificate in theology from the seminary which as close as you can get to being a nun without actually being one more than anything because she had been married. I pattern here. So they taught classes on sexuality and marriage so yeah it was weird. Oh boy that's very weird however that was fun as was very strange but they were not strict. Like you would expect. Yeah I had to go to church every Sunday But I still watch rated movies. My parents drank. They knew I did too so it was fine but I was angry because it all seemed like a big scam to me And I realized that we're kind of far afield from music but it's kind of relevant so when I was a kid I was really bought into this charade I was an altar boy sang in the choir played. Drums and a host of different events at the church went to Catholic school and I believed what I was being taught because that was what I was raised to believe but then I got into high school and I started forming the person I was going to become and began to think for myself I started. Look things look things differently right? I went to a pretty liberal Catholic highschool and in our religion classes which were daily especially towards senior year. We were encouraged at some point to explore different religions. I'm sure it was under the guise of comparison shopping but it opened a lot of is because other religions or spiritual practices made a lot more sense than the pomp and tradition of Catholicism especially like during Easter or something.

"All right so the other thing that I mentioned the other big thing I thought was very very cool was coming for my guest and my guest today. Is Mr Rich Barker how you doing rich? How's it going good? It's it's been quite a while since I've had you on the podcast at that doesn't don't take that personally it system. It's been busy having a lot of guests on But I know that you and I talk outside of the podcast. Lot worked together and rich happened to be well before I get to that reveal. Let me do something rich. Do you mind reminding people what you do here. Mike Rudy sure so I handle all paid efforts for any retailer. That is doing marketing through my Kurdi. So I handle all the strategy and implementation for primarily Google ads and facebook in regards to the retailers that we're working with currently all right so rich happened to be walking past my cubicle. The other day my desk and he he stopped me and he said listen to this. Listen what we're doing now. It's it's very cool. And he told me about this really neat new strategy that we're using On facebook ads for some of our retail customers. And I thought you know what that that is very cool. Let me share that with our listeners. I bet they they would be interested in that particularly if they're on facebook and it running ads in putting their their posts out there so rich you know. We don't want to go to a depth but at a high level. Do you want to let our listeners? Know exactly what you were telling me the other day. Sure so we sat down and strategize how we wanted to attack facebook in twenty twenty and came up with a essentially three prong approach. The I was simply an everybody knows how to do this. Boost boosting post a the big thing. Though is targeting your followers so a lot of people don't realize when you put a post out into the ether you just assume that you're five hundred followers all see the post will. Unfortunately that's not the case. Most of the time a post is only gonNA reach three four percent of your followers. Google facebook definitely GonNa make you pay to reach everybody so boosting oppose for you know fifteen twenty bucks something like that to your followers is definitely a great investment As far as what the Post Stars that's completely up to you whether it's a blog or an upcoming event or whatever. The case may be the second PRONG is increasing your followers. So many times we get a new retailer that unfortunately may only have one hundred two hundred followers on our page. And so when you're boosting post you're not really reaching a lot of people so we've been able to create what we're coining as the light campaign essentially within your campaign settings when you're setting up a campaign you can say. Hey I wanna pay for likes now. This isn't the old days of just willy. Nilly paying for anybody to like your campaign definitely focused. You're targeting a little bit. Try to focus on certainly people in your area preferably people that are interested in furniture things of this nature and then the third component of this. Excuse me is doing just kind of different type of posts a never really recommend the sale post while I appreciate your having twenty percent off store-wide this weekend You GotTa think about the experience on facebook I mean. Generally speaking people are flipping through their phones of their ipads. You catching up on the new Graham baby or finding out who just got married this weekend and to essentially interrupt that feed with sales sales. Say Oh yes you will get your point across sure I just don't know if you're going to get the reaction that you would prefer you know for me. I would rather provide information. That is helpful whether it's you know. Maybe it's national cookie. Day For instance and you put up opposing. Hey we just got you know four dozen cookies from local bakery and and make sure to tag their facebook page within that post and invite people out to come and get a free cookie whether they buy something or not is of relevant to to the setup it does get people out there it. Lets people kind of see where you're at see what your show rooms about. And even if they're not imposition right now to buy products from you it gets gets you in the door as far as top of mine when they are ready to buy furniture you furniture is as we know somewhat an impulse buy. I mean I know that are definitely people that plan months in advance by him their furniture but most people you know they wake up one day and they look at their couch and they're like are the last tear from my cats. I'm done and they go out and buy a new couch and so at that point how. How do you beat your competition? Will certainly you can beat them from search perspective if you rank in the top three when someone searching furniture store near me but you could probably even cut that out by having people acknowledge your presence and then just saying okay. I don't remember the actual address of that retailer. But I remember the B. Taylor's name and then they can do a retailer name plus their city and find you directly. And here's the best part most of the time it's just GonNa be you on that search. There's not going to be any you know rich snippets to pull people away. There's not going to be a lot of paid advertising to pull people way is just going to be you front and center and if you WanNa take anything away from this I do believe twenty. Twenty is certainly the year of brand strengthening. It's going to be more immoral important. Now that people are searching for your brand in your brand alone rather than generic furniture store search. Those are still useful. They still are applicable but growing. Your brand is way more important.

Perry trimmer is the minister of the environment and Municipal Affairs for the for Newfoundland Labrador last night. He was leaving a message on the phone of an employee with the New Nation Executive Council. He thought he'd hung up but he hadn't and in the conversation that followed all of which was recorded he makes some inappropriate remarks. He says the New People feel like they have a quote. God given right to services and he also accuses members of the nation of using quote the race card the national. Don't play that on New Year's Eve. It'll be that was minister trumper saying quote. Minister trumper was leaving a voicemail message for dominic rich before he made those comments mister rich works as an executive assistant with the New Nation Council. We reached him in happy. Valley Goose Bay Mr Rich when you heard that voice mail message last night coming from a government minister. What did you think the first reaction was total shock total shock. I could not believe what I was listening to the contents of that voice mail. I had two lists list. That's two or three if not four times to bring myself to the reality what this person was saying on on my voicemail and we should point out that he left he was a paratrooper the minister for the environment for Linux Labrador he left he was leaving you a message and then I guess he well he didn't hang up properly and so it continued he was having what appears to be a conversation with somebody in the room. Describing what he thought of the the issue that he was he was calling you about so that's what we're we're hearing in that the race card clip right yes he she didn't hang up and that's when continue on with this candidate conversation he had with this other individual the piece we played the part where he says the race card comes up all all the time. Don't play that on me. What else did he say that was disturbing to you that context what he was saying was very diminishing the concerns my concerns as a forty member's district and the other thing that he said was that a feeling of God given right people feel that they're they feel that a god given rights this parts of the tape that we transcribed what he's saying to somebody else in the room in new guy on the phone he's upset set. They're accusing us of having bias. They think it's their God given right to have translations and he says it's not a god given right for for us to provide services and the race card comes up all the time. I've been thirty years working with those guys. Don't play that on me at some of off of what he has to say and that does very disturbing what you just said those words and in terms of the bias we never said anything about bias or mentioned anything anything about bias at all all. I wanted for my aim. Hi who represents me to remedy the situation in terms of translation that was it that's all I can you explain what it was because this concerns in New People are getting driver's licenses and wanting to have during the written party the examination someone to help them with translation which happens in many many constituencies. What were you asking from the government of Newfoundland Labrador in that regard for the last over a decade co twenty years. I've been translated for financial institutions to the thanks when people are the eldest one translate for the bank killer loans among other stuff and not only that I translated as in correctional institutions van this a specific thing involving the driver's licenses examining twenty years closer to twenty years and I was told when I first when I came in there Mr Mr Rich you will not provide a translation under initial examining test the person will do on their own if they fail then the driver examiner will assist with that person and that still fails. Let me remind you that the driver examiner does not speak anymore which is my language and today also so it's the international language stage today. Just remind you as well and a third. That's where I will come into play to provide translation not just me but other people to keep it so it doesn't have to what would you were told. After all these years of translating a into Enu for people in these tests there said that only if they have a failed the test twice after the second time then someone can come in and you're saying and these are people we should point out that some of them need these licenses for employment for class for half of them were more need. They're driving lessons to assist and help them with their drivers. Who Endure implement capacity. Is that what he wanted to talk to paratrooper about when he sent this phone that was that was that was the part. I was going to talk to him about but also I'm not the only one that provides are able to speak English into English their other friends and colleagues of mine with can do it because of my workload. I could another comedy because a lot of travel brings to my work and that's when I wanted to talk to Mr Trump said look. Let's put it as it was a fifteen years ago and just anybody can walk in and translate for them to says in this to this person in the room. It's not a god given right for us to provide services but is it illegal right for you to get the service inspires you know yes of course Canada. There's two languages English and French and when I say I also go to the provincial course course translate people the judge usually as the cues. Do you need a translator. We have one on our staff legal rights as a legal right but let's not forget the senior high official person in the House Assembly of Nuclear Labrador made a very strong racist remarks and that's very disturbing you've known him. You've worked with Perry trimmed per for for years. He's come to so many events and so. How does this change your relationship now with him. I'm very sore sure that relationship is going to change when others in your community here this is there they are now. What effect do you think is going to have on. Them is going to have a very tremendous effect. It's not just me is collectively as Ino and I I'm just last with words right now to be honest with you just to rectify the inequity. I don't know I'm just lost with words. What can you say someone that you trust so many years who was set next to to you when the feast winded the lowest point of your life to highs times of your life years later you find this what the true nature of a person you feel betrayed very strongly the very threat of being ino- very being the very core shook me when I listen listen to this this context and I'm still in process right now. I'm still in shock. Mr Rich. I appreciate you speaking with us and we're going to ask some questions of the government mm-hmm but thank you for speaking with us now. Thank you currently have a great one by dominic rich works for the new nation's Executive Council. We reached him in happy. I've been translated for financial institutions to the thanks when people are the eldest one translate for the bank killer loans among other stuff and not only that I translated as in correctional institutions van this a specific thing involving the driver's licenses examining twenty years closer to twenty years and I was told when I first when I came in there Mr Mr Rich you will not provide a translation under initial examining tests the personal will do on their own if they fail then the driver examiner will assist with that person and that still fails. Let me remind you that the driver examiner does not speak anymore which is my language and today also so it's the international language stage today. Just remind you as well and a third. That's where I will come into play to provide translation not just me but other people to keep it so it doesn't have to what would you were told. After all these years of translating a into Enu for people in these tests there said that only if they have a failed the test twice after the second time then someone can come in and you're saying and these are people we should point out that some of them need. These licenses for employment for class for half of them are more need. They're driving lessons to assist and help them with the drivers. Who Endure implement capacity. Is that what he wanted to talk to. Perry trumper about when he sent this phone that was that was that was the part I was going to talk to him about but also I'm not the only one that provides are able to speak English into English their other friends and colleagues of mine with can do it because of my workload. I could another comedy because a lot of travel brings to my work and that's when I wanted to talk to Mr Trump said look. Let's put it as fifteen years ago and just anybody can walk in and translate for them to says in this to this person in the room. "And he's going to give it back to the worker. He's good to like update civilities. And then turn it over the worker making worker owned. I would say this is straight up fantasy characters. Nobody existed like this. I know they want you to rich person. Yeah. They want you to think that like, oh, look at this good rich person. There's all this bullshit about like how Mr. rich never fired a person because people work better when they know that their jobs are secure. What are you even to our? No, no because I believe that he's had other people fire all just ever done. Kicks out the street. Probably very invasive hiring procedure like they probably like check the contents of your asshole. It's simple enough to know how big of an asshole. He is if you are born with that name, you change your name, what r- rich, Richard rich, Richard rich. And if you are you are wealthy, dick rich nice to meet you. Oh, you can be dick ridged shitty. Brother. He doesn't talk to do. That's the porn parody. Oh, that's true. Yeah. As pure north coming dollar bills, yo Peter north is. Acreage? Have lewd dirty movie north was about Peter Northrop? Oh, yeah. I think so we're on the world. Parents coming in Vernon new parents, he he didn't like his old ones. So the parents, by the way, Mr. rich, the F or mention Mr. rich is the late Edward Harmon. All right, P, love them, the best and then Christine Ebersol as MRs rich and tying out the cast here a little bit is the dude the adult cast the main adult cast the guy playing Cadbury the Butler slash like bodyguard is the dude who's like the dad slash bad guy from Jumanji. Yeah. Like the hunter from Jim on seen Monje in a long time. Yeah. It's a decent movie around there somewhere else to I think he does TV. He's been a ton of shit. So he's Cadbury and it starts with like this dudes narrating. Here's how Richie rich came into the world, and it's like him being born. And then at one point you better believe, they snuck in Kieran Culkin as a younger Richy riches Christ, those Kalkin parents man, what a fucking scam they forms. Informs dude got like a cult going though, because he's got the entire all of his employees that work in his our right? Yeah. Like waiting to hear if is child is out or if it's going to be like, they all he's comes down the banister. And he's like, I have a son I have a son and they're like, oh, very good. But if it was a girl, I think he would have thrown into the crowd ridge, dude. Excuse me Jeeves could you go upstairs and get the first pillowcase. You see I have a date with a bridge where the white bucket. North man do drop in white buck. That's awful. Let's fucking discussed when we don't have Steve here. Weird. It's weird weird wild filling ever Steve's not around every was asking, where's. He had to go to his planet. There's a bullshit thing. He does say the guys like Ardenne, so Richie rich became the wealthiest baby in the world. And I'm like, okay. What am I supposed to be feeling here envy? You know? Like jealousy sympathy golden pass. Fires one of those choke of eventually, it is sympathy. Yeah. To have a regular knife phone. Would be playing. I wish someone made fun of me when I played baseball. I cannot like this movie, especially now in the fucking hell scape that we live in this movie where like this fucking rich trio of are like these heroes that were supposed to look up to. I just can't even stand it. That's the one thing the show a Netflix smart. She's a an entrepreneur who discovered some like you. He's self made rich and he made like a green entered new energy, wait. So the dad did or the kid did know the kid that his dad's like a deadbeat really actually proverbial. Although void away kids with entrepreneurial spirits, and they keep the cartoon had what's missing from. This is the cartoon had a robot made Allah the Jetsons. Yes. And that is in the new show, but it is not in this. Oh, yeah. No. It's definitely not. So no research of the cartoons and the comic books and invited the tunnel. We'd definitely. This would help this conversation water. I heard a long time ago, and I didn't do anything today..
