Who was this neutral as I am, and as objective as I have been over the past five months, I've truly kept an open mind about this process, and I have I tried to be as impartial as I possibly could about this over this process. Early on in this process. I reached out to the mother, Uh, Mr Reed and committed to her that I would do a thorough An impartial investigation. And I have committed to doing that. I binds grew too fast for my skin so I look like a spent a month on medieval torture wreck Oh acne so that's nate mccay he knows he blurts something regrets it and then over analyzes and obsessed is about it for the next hundred years but he also believes in alternative realities has he how does he put those down he doesn't consider himself garage but he has notebooks and he he writes things down to in his way of offloading I think the worries that he carries around he's the warriors he thinks about everything too much and this is his way of not carrying too much stuff around with him so he he thinks of the night books as a well he drops the Stein's in the well and then he doesn't have to carry them around he's not a hero heroic enough do nor those starnes anywhere else Z. certainly not from my for much of Volkan and even then he's he's not a true hero in that he's brive or resourceful or anything like that he's just trying to get by but he Dan rather things down he can his beautiful rata he's an imaginative human being well we I mit mitigate medium in the prologue and he's aged Woah where he's out with his dad and he's met with his dad's met camping in the Bush now this may sound like a father son bonding time but in reality it was caught one newt two tenths and three Isky what did Dick Nights Dad want night to do this is an initiation rot or a blooding so to speak where where nights on the eleven years old and yet he's expected to handle the gun and shoot a great and that's it's difficult for him to do on one hand wants to impress his dad and he wants to be a man but on the other hand it goes against everything that that you know his is in him and saw this is this repeats throughout the book this moment that if he could have changed inched not miss shooting the goat would have been a different person well now sixteen years old and lives in her how the dysfunctional family which in I'd say they're pretty dysfunctional though so I think fairly typical of Some lower socio economic disadvantage families his love and his fun and this you know there's all kinds of stuff with this also lights of dysfunction going on yeah nights mother left where we found out that there was a reason for that and his dad deck is now will nights now got a new stepmother zoning eight years older than he said and this twins now stepbrothers twins jake and artists they were once inseparable but now Otis's three he's walking and he's talking and he's starting to act out more like his father towards his in brother his definitely starting to mimic deck in many in his mannerisms his attitude towards women you know he's quite critical of you signed mom at three is old he will close jeep id Things like that sending contrast this his younger his twin brother artists artists is has disability who was born developmentally delayed he the family folklore goes that Jake is a bump on his chest and Otis hesitant as jake when they separated twins took a pace of Sweden and but it's it's wash right season Otis's is that they have they communicate without speaking because because at this point is he's not verbal but he can only repeat words for things that he already knows he's Stu whiting to reach that level where he can tell us what he wants tell us what eighteen his mind and is one would that he refuses to say he will not site Dick or dad brings out upon perhaps a little bit more now nate back tonight he loves facts and Rod Sabra about prey animals and creditors he knows pray must group together up but only got one friend made through proximity over personality who's that friend this Kinda Merrick he lives in the unit across the I live in a group share a group of units so they've been friends for the last six years America ways comes to the wind I never to the front door and they kind of consider each other friends by accident but there's much more to it than that it's a very deep in bonding friendship now he also has very difficult family life but nate describes his maters he has to control his tim pump he is trapped in a body the can't control his mouth he does Merrick gets into situations quite often he's rather would rather jump in and swing than doc in means and he'll he'll bite into situations that he however which he has no control and drag night along with him well these two out the only dis- ebbed teens in the town in suburb where they all made with this I've placed beside places is youth which is pickle of many youth centers I think around Australia I've been to a few and they will they will have the same feel that I think the kids that guy here the ones who don't have the tribe quite often or who who's hyme life is is just not safe this they need somebody to be able to just do things like h occasionally shower you fall asleep on a couch without wondering whether it's unsafe that kind of thing may see when you said you visited youth areas somebody like my see I think the best youth where the work has a lock my st in that they come from within that world and have an undisturbed deep understand adding of it so that the exchange between the youth workers and the children is much more honest in Ecuador as opposed to do gooders hanging in and trying to make changes without really understanding what these kids are up against so macy's sort of by her look and not so much growth authority but by her ability she controls this up people do feel safe there she's a survivor and the thing that kids since that they understand all just looking at her that she's she's been warned she's come out the other side of it and therefore they willing to follow her right we'll sort of night comes here too series homework and rod his nights he loses some pages of his notebook what happens then which is terrifying for him because the the things that he brought Newsnight booker intensely personal and never meant for anybody else to see or hear so he's lost lost a couple of pages and then a few days later one of his superiors graffiti on the wall to as is a way of protesting the post punk leisure of of the Santa suspect he immediately suspects tash a young lady who goes to the youth center he has some rather superior skills and she she is she doesn't hide the fact that she thinks he should stand up more for what he believes in and actually fought for the things that he cares about she's always more removed often she's she's scary really and look apologies to listeners but if you've witnessed disgruntled teenager the best way to just described as nate does is she has a fuck fuck off ice that's exactly what she deploys regularly graffiti leads the possibility of the youth closing down and this is a pretty safe place because school really isn't sport is the arena for bullied and quite often night has the blood noise or whatever but there is Mr Reed there's yes he's the English teacher who are rather deliberately right as Stereo taught in the beginning of the book and I had a bit of fun with that are made him out to be Must Robin Williams Caricature but I guess the point of that was to flip it later on when he realizes that he's altruism doesn't really come from a good place he's come from a private school he wants to make it changes help these kids and but he's reasons for doing that PEPs a little misguided he doesn't really understand the world they come from and he needs to deep he needs to understand his reasons for being so flips not quite so selfless after or anything can they have an exchange in a way of moving forward

"Speaking of Colin Kaepernick, here's a joint statement from the NFL and capper Nick and Eric read on settling the collusion suit for the past several months counsel for Mr. capper, Nick. And Mr. Reed having gauged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL. As a result of those discussions the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement. So there will be no further comment by any party. Wow. There is breaking news, right? At the end of our Stephen a Smith conversation Nuno put this up for me. It's the NFL capper Nick and Eric read together putting out a statement there collusion lawsuit capper Nick and read against the NFL now settled. That settlement will be sealed. It'll be private you. And I will not get to know the terms of that settlement. I'm sure we will not know. Or be very difficult for us to know, what financial pay out there was and. By then extension. We could see what kind of perceived. Guilt. That would imply see here's the thing about lawsuits. Whenever lawsuit has settled people assume that means one party is admitting to either a the weakness of their case on one side or be the admission of guilt on the other. It isn't a lot of times. What's going on is both parties just wanting it to end wanting it to go away the whole, by the way legal system is designed to get to this point arbitration you've heard of that term lawsuits. The whole system is designed I'm telling you, this is a guy went to law school practice a small bit. The whole point is to avoid a trial. My dad was a plane of attorney growing up prided himself on being like a Perry. Mason wanted to always be in the courtroom wanted to make his argument want to stand up and yell objection wanted to win. I grew up like that. I wanted to win. I went to law school for that reason. Because I is my dad watched him do it by the time. I went to law school late nineties early two thousands. I could already see nobody goes to. Courtney more nobody goes to trial. Nobody argues anymore. It's all paperwork pushing. In going toward settlements. Why? Because it's more efficient. The only way to really get in the courtroom was to be a criminal lawyer. And so that's the path that I win. I started doing clerking at criminal law firms taking interest in taking classes and criminal law. Be a prosecutor defense attorney. That's how you get courtroom because on the civil side. And this is what cabinet reads casings NFL was a civil suit. Nobody wants to drag it out. Nobody wants to pay the money to keep the lawyers fighting. Nobody wants to pay for the trial. Nobody wants to potentially lose the money. So a settlement comes that's really how the system is designed now it could be an admission of guilt. It could be the NFL going. We don't want this stuff to see the light of day. Maybe maybe Jerry Jones. And Roger Goodell did talk and say can't let this guy back in the league or maybe capper Nick in read realized this isn't going to get anywhere. This is better to make go away. I don't know. And we won't know as long as it sealed. But now, let's move the conversation to the next step now that calling capper Nick, and Eric Reid's collusion case with the NFL has been settled what door does that open? Call calling capper, Nick. Now, more readily accepted into coming back into the NFL, certainly while you're suing Stephen ages pointed out while you're suing potential employer or you have a grievance. A CBA grievance against the potential employer. You're not gonna have a very good luck getting hired by that employer. Does this make it easier for capital to reenter the league?.

"Your host max Baril. And this is your podcast voted to the Champions League back with me as usual. Mr reed. Ryan how you doing, sir? Doing great doing great. I'm already like not to tease things ready, but you're not going to be on the show tomorrow. And I'm like going through withdrawal preemptive withdrawals. I need I need a break from the tragic comedy that has Manchester United from my own my own health. You're already anticipating a blowout loss. And you just like you can't even handle it. I don't want to talk about it. Think about it. I'm sweating a little just I apologize. I apologize for putting you through that. You know, you're went after your mental health, and you're like, I can't do this max. And so I need to respect that. And I'm sorry read. If you're like me, you're you're starting to get to that point where I'm like today was the first they were on like I need it to be the knockout stages already not that like the group stages in exciting. But I'm just like I need that next round already. The group stages are a little long, but thankfully this year. We have a couple of fund tight groups filled with interesting teams. And this is actually my. I think the most interesting matchday of the Champions League. You know, it's. These teams are playing the same sides. They played two weeks ago just switching switching the stadiums. So it's kind of weird quirk of the Champions League. You don't see this and other competitions. And so we just talked about these same games two weeks ago. But here we are talking about them. Again. I the results are entirely different. It's cool. It is it is a cool Gesta position like teams giving that opportunity for revenge. Some some teams definitely took it. It'll be interesting to compare last week to or not last week. But last match to this one let's get into it as as those of you who remember from last round where going group by group this time, so not starting with necessarily the early games of the day. But starting with group a certainly two teams that are very competitive, but not necessarily the most competitive group. Let's go Madrid to Borussia Dortmund nil. The goal from Seoul in the thirty third minutes, and then Antoine grease Mun or as he is also known..

"Joining me, Mr. Reed Ryan the podcast today coming at you a day late because of mysterious circumstances that are better left mysterious like neither confirm or deny any rumors. You know, I wrote on what happened. Yeah. I speculated on Twitter that maybe you won the Powerball or had finally decided to fully go off the grid unclear unclear frankly, if either of those things have happened, and you're just playing it cool or who knows? But here we are better a day late than not at all. I hope you agree. But. The adrenalin has worn off yester- little bit since yesterday read. I don't know about you. But to me, this was exactly what I was hoping for these games. I was much more into it yesterday than I was the day before I agree. Yesterday's games were a lot of fun almost across the board. And and, you know, without the pressure of Manchester United plane, I really sit back and joy, all them all together. So great. There's a great day. Yeah. Agreed read has while he's brought a delay upon us. He's also brought brilliant ideas. Which is why he is part of this show. We're going to switch it up instead of doing the early games. And then the later games, we're going to tackle these games going group by group. So we'll do all the games involving group eight teams and so on so that we can really start to discuss these group pictures as they're really starting to come into shape because I think as we're gonna start today read some teams are getting left. Too far behind. I don't I think we're starting to really see some teams get themselves eliminated. Obviously not numerically eliminated quite yet. But I don't see a way back for some of these teams. Yep. Yep. I agree. It's it's after three games are really starting to get the full picture. So want some interesting discussions as we get through these groups. Let's do it. Let's start with a shocker Borusia Dortmund four Athletico Madrid nil. Axel whistle opened the scoring in the thirty eighth minute. Rough AL Guerrero scored next in the seventy third John Sancho scored in the eighty third and then Rafael Guerrero again in the eighty ninth minute read, I knew this. I mean, this was going to be a potentially battle for the top of the group. I was not expecting. And I'm sure let's go Madrid was not expecting such a lopsided display. Tell me thoughts. You know, we've seen Dortmund come a long way from even they're beginning of the Champions League campaign. You know, they had that that narrow one Neil victory again against club Rouge, and suddenly there, you know, three games later dominating Athletico Madrid who kinda seem like they were going to be the class of this group after the first couple of matches. So I was entirely surprised by this this outcome. It was let go Madrid worst defeat ever under Simione any. It was a real shocker Dorfman. Look good without their their main striker so far this season or at least made source of goals. Puck Pakalitha casare. So I'm it's a real promising result for dorm, and they've got to be happy about it. Yeah. Absolutely. I I mean, just the nature of it. Shocking to me. I mean, obviously, I thought let's go. Madrid? We're going to top this group. They still may yet, but you know, to their such defensively stout organized team that to get thrashed even away where uncharacteristic very uncharacteristic as very well said, and I think there were a couple moments where you're like, well, maybe it just really wasn't their day Dortmund. We're just kind of firing on all cylinders things for really working out for. Let's see co things just weren't soul came very close. I mean, he had one shot that could have been a goal of the season candidate. But Shane the ricocheted criminally off the post, but so let's go Madrid had their chances. It's one of those games that maybe if they had taken one of those chances things could've could've changed, but it just didn't and Dortmund looked. I mean, they were they were clinical something we won't see so much of in some other games. They took their chances when they came available and all the credit. It to them one of the few teams that three winds from three nine points. Top of the group. They're in their English only team besides events that hasn't conceded, so far which was is surprising to me that is that is quite something..

"The most obvious one is that people who protest are not automats. Blackwell contact for Nick is but signing. Eric read to me is a big deal, and it's done by a new owner. Remember Carolina's a team where they carry Richardson to sell the team, and this guy maybe isn't in the old boys club. I'm not gonna use the phrase Clinton mentality yet, but I'm gonna say to you that this is a signing that I think is important beyond the player and it's football move. I think this signing doesn't mean Jack, really, Colin Kaepernick get signed. What do you say about the parole sitting next to the guy all the time, and when you talk about coaches and I say, well, you say, wait, wait, wait the person sitting next to the guy when you're one seat over it's allowed hotter. Okay. Son? Yes. I'm safety who could walk with guys treats of all the cities in North Carolina. I don't care how he'd have to have his birth certificate out to prove who he is Colin Kaepernick with an afro and a Swu for new. You know, he is Gary Khan. Captain's lawyer said last week he was. Going to be saying, well, he's not signed yet, and I don't think he's ever going to get. So I I used to, but I don't anymore. But let's go to plantation mentality because he was shoulder to shoulder with Colin cabinet. Hey, doesn't signing him indicate progress at all to you know his progress signing Colin with? No, no, no, no, we're not. Because see, I sat here and told you the day he was cut loose. Got so he will never play any NFL again, you were more right than I will entirely. I think this is right on this is the way I am glad. Mr. Reed has a job and he's playing twelve hundred thirteen games. I think last year we started the player in Collin cabinet. We now come to your favorite part of the baseball season wilpon your continued dissection of Chris sale. That's not the Red Sox. Ace started last night went into the fifth inning. Throwing ninety two pitches. He struck out eight batters, but the news was his fastball wasn't fast. His four seamer averaged only ninety point one miles an hour, which is the slowest of his career..

"Start of stoppage time. I your host max Baril and this is your podcast voted to the Champions League and the games have begun and Mr. Reed Ryan is here to talk about it with us. Read welcome back to the show. Thank you rocks. I gotta say, obviously, we've, we've done our eight preview episodes. You haven't listen to those. Check it out, but today lived up to the hype about for you. Absolutely. Matchday one of the books and and we had some absolute thrillers a couple of Champions League classics yet some really excellent start, you know, some rust here and there, but by and large, an excellent day a dramatic day. But before we get to the games read, I know you wanted to sound off a little bit on the coverage here in the United States. Obviously, if you're listening or watching these games abroad outside the United States, you're probably watching it in a different place with different announcers, and you are lucky for it. Read tells you thoughts. Yeah. So I went today to to to watch the games. Hold up in my apartment in in Brooklyn. To f s one anticipating to see, you know, my my good old, reliable Champions League broadcast, but it was nowhere to be seen. Maybe I showed a little done a little research, but it just felt like a given it just felt exam. So I went on to figure out where it was. It was on TNT with VR live there showing two matches of of the of the full slate. Only two were getting any airtime. They didn't cut to any of the highlights during the halftime of the post game show of the other matches. They briefly mention them, but gave us no coverage. I had to spend twenty minutes trying to figure out what Fudo TV was. I still don't know what it is and it's behind a paywall, so don't even care. That I'm top of that. The analysis by the in-studio staff was was rough. Tell that to the studio with with two guys and a and a woman sort of breaking down the highlights. And then I had like a tactical now says with Steve Nash, Stuart Holden. I don't know if you know who Steve Nash is, but he is a whole fame NBA point guard. Yeah, sure. He's a big soccer fan, but it's not like he was dropping insight bombs on us. Maybe they were trying to get a a regular guy to to be relatable, but I dunno max, I thought it was brutal to watch. It was a horrendous. And as you say, Steve Nash all-time great athlete, but this is not his sport. So he brings, frankly, as far as I'm concerned as much credibility to the table as you are. In which case, bring us on the show or stunned mash start a podcast like the rest of us, but you know, you don't just get to be on TV because you were good at basketball and you're apparently Tottenham fan. They didn't. Maybe I missed this, but there wasn't even a ticker on the bottom, showing the scores of the other matches. There was not all the. Yeah. So you get all your information from this one location? It was. It was horrible, horrible to to watch given that we still managed to enjoy ourselves. Did we not? Yeah. I mean, the games were great, but yeah, as you say, the, I ended up just fast forwarding through the analysis portion of things because as soon as I heard in the analysis of the Barcelona game, which it irritated me that they cut out, respond bellies goal from the highlights. Given that his I think was probably the nicest goal of that game that they just pretended like Messi scored. Messi scored all the goals that day. And one of the gentlemen. Said, well, messy is the reason why people talk about him. I'm like, well, thank you sir. For that. Excellent, excellent analysis. I mean, it doesn't take a lot to make apparently to make you miss Alexi Lalas, but I never thought it'd be saying that, but here we are and the man looks like professional compared to this. Well, we met is to suffer through that and we got, we got a slate of nice game. So why don't we just dive in and I'd like to echo your point..
