Leading With Purpose: Is it the new black?
"He's drawing your business through purpose. A good thing. Well let's talk. Simon cynic from minute. Now i agree totally with the thrust of his content his ability to take the complex and bring it down to something incredibly simple and compelling is nothing short of genius you know that because when you hear it even though it may be new to you it is obviously true. Maybe two obviously. But we'll get to that later. I love his original concept. Start with why. It probably spawned hundreds of thousands of businesses to think about purpose where they never had previously. It's one of the simplest and probably the most powerful statements. You could possibly make if you don't know why you doing something. The what the hell and the wind become way more difficult. Now give some examples of this on the way through. And i must admit upfront. I haven't yet the infinite game of the cliff notes on that one. But i will the one thing that i deeply believe to be true. Is it your people will be much more likely to give you. They based if they see where they feed in. How does what. I'm doing today. Contribute in a broader sense the organization's goals just turning up to pay chicken hating. What you do is sold destroying. Most people want to know that they make a difference purposes the vehicle for letting people aspire to something bigger it paints a vision that can inspire and motivate them. Now you're be familiar with the story of john. F. kennedy during the washington headquarters of nasa in nineteen sixty one as the story goes kennedy stopped. Talk to a genita- who was mocking the floors and when he asked that genita- what he was doing nessa he replied mr president. I'm hoping to put a man on the moon now true or not. The story demonstrates the concept of purpose absolutely beautifully. I'm not saying that these people don't exist but i've never met anyone who gets excited by mopping floors but just knowing that you're part of a much bigger more important. Picture conserves a driving force your motivation and commitment in a nutshell. That's perks now. The second point for me is that these days purpose is a differentiator. The you'll stakeholders to make better choices. Sustainability has become critically important in business as we can. Now see the end of the runway for some of youths natural resources as customers. We actually take notice of companies purpose and the more noble. It is the more comfortable you feel buying the products. And we'll have some more on this later but it's not just our customers who are paying attention. Some very powerful investors are now choosing to only allocate capital to companies do business in an ethical and sustainable way just returned great dividends to shareholders. Doesn't cut it anymore. What if you manufacturing operations take advantage of child. Labor in southeast asia or your business reeks heavy on the environment of the amazon rainforest. You're not going to get capital. The third thing is that if you it's genuine and you're serious about it. It can god the micro decisions that come up everyday in the general run of play. Now let me give you a very personal example at your c. mental. We are genuinely driven by a purpose. Which i'm sure you're familiar with you. Get to hear it every week to improve the quality of leaders globally well with listeners in over seventy countries. We're making pretty good fist of it so far. But we also understand that we're running a business not indulging in a hobby so purpose is underpinned by couple of really important principles. the first is that income follows impact. It's only through being able to have an impact and make a difference to people that we deserve to make money. If we have no impact business goes no it and rightly so the second is that we believe strongly in the power of competitive markets if we find a market need. That's unmet we'll be rewarded. And if we don't we weren't so we ended one of the most crowded markets on the planet leadership development and progress since no i'm sure the authors of blue ocean strategy burst out laughing if they'd heard about ad business plan before we launched it but every day when illinois make decisions about the business purpose is a thing that god's those decisions

Los Angeles native Amanda Gorman makes history as the youngest poet to deliver the inaugural poem
"One of the most remarkable moments of wednesday's inaugural ceremony came from the inaugural poet. Amanda gorman of los angeles. she's the youngest poet in. us history to address a presidential inauguration. She became the youth poet laureate of los angeles at the age of sixteen in two thousand fourteen and then the first national youth poet laureate the twenty two year old poet read her poem. The hill we climb. She finished it right after the riot at the capital earlier this month. Her words captured the nation. This is amanda gorman. Mr president dr biden madam vice presidents mr emhoff americans and the world one day comes we ask ourselves. Where can we find lights in this. Never ending shade the loss. We carry a c. We must wade. We've braved the belly of the beast. We've learned that quiet isn't always piece in the norms. In notions of what just is isn't always just is and yet. The dawn is hours before we knew it. Somehow we do it. Somehow we've weathered into witnessed a nation that it isn't broken but simply unfinished we the successors of a country and a time or a skinny black girl descended from slaves into raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one and yes. We are far from policy far from steam. But that doesn't mean we are striving to form a union that is perfect. We are striving to forge or union with purpose to compose a country committed to all cultures colors characters in conditions of man and so we lift our gaze. not what stands between us but what stands before us. We close the divide because we know to put our future. I we must. I put our differences aside. We lay down our arms so we can reach out our arms to one another we seek harm to none and harmony for all let the globe if nothing else say this is true that even as we grieved. We grew. That even hurts. We hoped that even as we tired we try. That will forever be tied together victorious. Not because we will never again no defeat but because we will never again so division scripture tells us to envision that everyone is so sit under the vine and fig tree and no one so make them afraid if we're to live up to our own time than victory won't light in the blade but in all the bridges we've made that is the promise to glade hill. Climb if only we dare it because being american is more than a pride we inherit. It's the past we step into and how we re parrot. We've seen a forest that would shatter our nation rather than share. It would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy and this effort very nearly succeeded but while democracy can be periodically delayed it can never be permanently defeated in this truth in this faith we trust for while we have our eyes on the future history. Has its eyes on us. This is the era of just redemption. We feared submission. We did not feel prepared to be heirs of such a terrifying our but within we found the power to author a new chapter to offer hope and laughter to ourselves so while once we asked how could we possibly prevail over catastrophe. Now we assert. How could catastrophe possibly prevail over us. We will not march back to what was but moved to what shall be a country that is bruised but whole benevolence but bold fierce and free. We will not be turned around or interrupted by intimidation. Because we know our inaction end and so we'll be the inheritance of the next generation. Our blenders become their burdens. But one thing is certain if emerged mercy with might into might with rights then love becomes our legacy in change our children's birthright

I continue to strongly believe that we must reform our election laws to verify the identity and eligibility of all voters and to ensure faith and confidence in all future elections. Now Congress has certified the results and new administration will be inaugurated on January. 20th. My focus now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power. President Donald Trump back on Twitter that was his first posts. Last night around eight or nine o'clock, and he is conceding the election to Joe Biden probably should have put a statement out like that earlier before. What happened at the Capitol happened, I think Um, that is Donald Trump, though. I mean, you watch that It's about two minutes. It was pretty on point. I think. Uh, Hence, vice President. Pence said he's going. Biden said that he welcomes vice president pants glad he's been be honored if he would be there. Donald Trump surprises me that he's not because He likes to be the story. He likes to be it would. That would be these story. I don't care if he goes or not. But if
Senator Mitt Romney calls on colleagues to tell voters the truth
"Minutes to the senator from Utah Senator Romney. Senator from Utah. Mitt Romney, Republican The day was heartbreaking. And I was shaken to the core. I thought about the people I've met in China and Russia and Afghanistan and Iraq and other places who yearn for freedom. Who looked at this building and these shores. As a place of hope. I saw the images being broadcast around the world. And it breaks my heart. 25 grand Children. Many of them were watching TV. Thinking about this building, whether there Grandpa was okay. I knew I was okay. I must tell you as well. I was proud to serve with these men and women. Is an extraordinary group of people. I'm proud to be. Member of the United States Senate. And be with people of integrity as we do here today. Now we gather Due to a selfish man's injured pride. The outrage of supporters who he had deliberately misinform for the past two months and stirred to action this very morning. What happened here today was an insurrection. Incited by the president of the United States. Those who choose to continue to support is a dangerous gambit by objecting to the results of a legitimate democratic election. Will forever be seen. As being complicity. In an unprecedented attack against our democracy. Fairly or not. They'll be remembered for their role in the shameful episode in American history. That will be their legacy. I salute Senator Langford. Leffler and Brawn and Danes that I'm sure others who in the light of today's outrage Have withdrawn their objection. Ready, who remain insisted on an audit in order to satisfy the many people who believe that the election was stolen. Offer this perspective. No congressional audit. Is ever going to convince these voters, particularly in the president, will continue to say that the election was stolen. The best way we could show respect for the voters who were upset is by telling them the truth. That's the burden. That's the duty of leadership. The truth is that President elect Biden won the election President Trump Lost. I've had that experience myself. It's no fun. Scores the courts, the president's own attorney, general, state election officials, both Republican and Democrat, have reached that unequivocal decision. And in light of today, sad circumstances I asked my colleague do we wear on political fortunes more heavily than we weigh the strength of our republic, the strength of our democracy and the cause of freedom. What's the weight of personal acclaim? Compared to the weight of conscience. Leader. McConnell said that the vote today is the most important in his 36 years of public service. Think of that. Authorizing two wars vote again to impeachments. He said that not because the vote reveals something about the election. It's because this boat reveals something about us. Urged by college to move forward with completing the electoral count to refrain from further objections, and he unanimously affirmed the legitimacy of the presidential election. Thank you, Mr President.

So i'm going to let the lawyers go figure that out but i am qualified to tell you that that was an inappropriate phone. Trump made false claims in call pressuring Georgia secretary of state to undo Biden win
"Welcome to the i melbourne and we begin with donald trump's explosive new attacks on yes our united states democracy this has been caught on tape echoes of the darkest episodes of his presidency. If you didn't know so already here we are. Welcome to twenty twenty one days before congress will convene to formally certified the election that is a formality because everything is over and done but the president continues to push the doomed effort to nullify. Joe biden's win tonight at setting off a firestorm. Even though donald trump has zero legal paths left. Donald trump placing what is now been described by so many as an extraordinary call this weekend for the top elections officials in georgia. Brad robbins burger in this hour. Long sometimes rambling call which corrine from conspiracy to direct cajoling to as we'll get into tonight. Potential criminal acts. Donald trump leaned on them to quote find the votes that he would need to somehow come the finished election. This is a state that trump lost. So i wanna do is i just wanna find Eleven thousand seven hundred eighty loads which is one more that we have people who country are angry. And there's nothing wrong with saying that you know That you've recalculated. There is a lot wrong here. Some of it may be criminal. But let's take a step back. All of this is part of trump's dead end. Election scheming georgia's results are over. The courts have spoken. This is indeed the case for every single state where donald trump is still complaining about having lost that. This will culminate as. I'm sure you've heard by now in what i believe. We'll be authoritarian theater. Wednesday on the floor of congress as republicans will make what we have. The votes to show are doomed efforts to argue that. Somehow congress should not certify. Joe biden's electoral win. This is a ploy. It is dead on arrival in tonight. We can remind you why we've reported on some of this already. Democrats control the house. So there's no way for this to work unless some house speaker pelosi decided she wanted to join trump to stop a biden presidency. In addition top senate. Republicans are against the move. The wall street journal editorial board dismisses the whole thing as a stunt the new york times calls it futile. The associated press as nonpartisan as comes says. The whole thing is desperate. Important context for trump's call george a secretary of state in that call that official ratzenberger and his lawyer reject trump's numerous false claims of voter fraud will Listen to what the president has said. President trump. We've had several lawsuits and we've had to respond in court to the lawsuits in the contentions We don't agree that you have one. And we don't didn't agree about the two hundred thousand number that you mentioned for mr president the challenge that you have is the data you have is wrong and going through each of those and those numbers that that we got Mitch mitchell was just saying they're not act. Estate official fact checking a sitting president to his verbiage face on that conference call on a phone call. But that's really striking. It may be obvious to viewers or people around the country that what trump was saying was false but one of the things revealed in this call also important is official some of them republicans telling the president to his face at this late date. That what he's saying is false and that same officials spoke with nbc news today with new fact checking for trump. I'm very confident in the results. We have here in georgia and that's the cold. Hard truth is president. Trump did not carry the state of georgia. We run honest and fair elections. Here
Trump pressures Georgia top election official to 'find' votes and overturn Biden victory in phone call
"Start then with the Washington Post newspaper because they have made public a recorded telephone conversation in which President Trump is heard putting pressure on Georgia's top election official to overturn his defeat in the state. President elect Joe Biden won the state 11,779 votes. Now, in the hour long call between Mr Trump on Brad Raffles Burger, Georgia's secretary of state, Mr Trump made a number of unsubstantiated claims of vote rigging. I mean, they noticed him to find the one extra vote that would give him a victory. Well, I want to do is this I just wanna find 11,780. Votes, which is one more that we have. Because we want to say so. So tell me. Red. What are we going to do? We won the election and it's not fair to take it away from us like this. On. It's going to be very costly in many ways. Well. The conversation on Saturday was seen as the latest step in an unprecedented effort by a sitting president to pressurize a state official traverse the outcome off an election. As I said it was The Washington Post that got hold of the recording, and I've been speaking to Mark Vicious Sr Editor of the newspaper. His extraordinary in that a sitting president of the United States is putting pressure on state officials to as he puts it, re calculate the vote find him enough votes to win an election that he lost at the same time. It is entirely predictable and very much in concert with the way Donald Trump has behaved throughout his life. When things do not go his way, he will do anything to avoid being tagged as a loser. It's a long conversation he's having with Fellow Republican Brad Reference Burger, the Georgia secretary of state, talk us through what he says how he appeals to him and what he's asking him to do. He pushes him more or less the way we might expect a mob boss to push his underlings in a Hollywood movie about Organized crime. And he's asking the chief elections official in that state to negate the voice of the people who voted there and come up with new numbers based on a bunch of species conspiracy theories, Trump repeatedly and almost in coherently spelled out that votes had been destroyed or elections machines had been stolen or destroyed. And the Georgia official the secretary of state wrappings Burger, who his Himself a Republican, pushed back at every turn and said, No, Mr President, This is not true. This did not happen and what he's asking. Find him, 11,000 or so. Votes. Now that demand in itself is that illegal? Well, it's certainly illegal to tamper with the results of an election. And he's asking for exactly that. Is the president on the phone call committing a crime by making the ask. That's certainly for lawyers or eventually, a court to say. But there any number of voices in both parties who are now saying that president has committed acts here that are worth investigating, and perhaps worth bringing criminal charges. Highly unlikely that that would happen, But nonetheless, there's a great deal of upset. We're seeing an enormous amounts of attention paid to this story. And this is a president issuing threats I know from having written his biography that back when he was a businessman, he routinely made these kinds of threats that he would bring lawsuits against intense people that he would bring them up on criminal charges that he would make their lives difficult or impossible. So this is his pattern, but to hear it on tape from sitting president His number less shocking. I'm here. He has a couple more weeks in office. It looks as though on the basis of this recorded conversation. He isn't going to leave office quietly. Well, we don't know whether he will actually relieve the White House on January 20th, as the law requires him to do. He has always said that he will certainly leave if he loses. But of course, he's not admitting that he's lost if you look at these pattern in life When he does lose in a big way. He tends to slink away steaming and foaming and fulminating. And just as we watched over these last couple of months, so he will go down fighting. He always does. But when push comes to shove, he tends to just go away. Now this is a historic moment. Whether he will have to be asked to leave. The building will simply have to wait and see. Mark Fisher, the senior editor of the Washington Post. And just to let you know that since the third of November vote, of course, Mr Trump has been alleging widespread electoral fraud without providing any evidence. 50 states. All of them have now satisfied the election results. Some of the recounts and legal appeals, and so far the U. S courts have rejected 60 challenges to Mr Joe Biden's win and Congress is due to formally approve the election result. In just two days time.
McConnell ties efforts to increase stimulus payments to other issues
"From the Hill newspaper, the Senate appear poised to override President Trump's veto over defense policy bill handing the president's stinging rebuke in the final days of his administration. The issue is likely to come to a head either on New Year's Day or the following day. In a rare Saturday vote. With a group of lawmakers threatening to drag out the veto fight as they tried to leverage the 17 $40 billion defense measure into getting a vote on the House passed stimulus checks Bill here is the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell on the Senate floor. Does the sun it was supposed to finish legislation securing critical tools, training and support for America's armed forces. But the junior senator from Vermont had other ideas. Remember, Senator Sanders spent last summer literally trying to defund our military? Not my words, Mr President, but the title of the piece he published defund the Pentagon. The liberal case are calling. All through an amendment to strip 10% of funding from our service members and decimate our defense budget. Russians aren't cutting military funding. China isn't cutting funding. But last summer, Senator Sanders and fellow Democrats including the Democratic leader voted to make America unilaterally disarm and cut hours left took a break from trying to defund the police to try to defund our armed forces. Their amendment went down in a landslide. But now our colleague from Vermont Again putting political stunts before the needs of our men and women in uniform. Our colleague says he will slow down this vital bill unless he gets the muscle through another standalone proposal from Speaker Pelosi that would add roughly a half a trillion dollars to the national debt, which does not align with what President Trump has suggested that which has no realistic path to quickly pass the Senate. Well, as I've said the Senate will not let our national security be shoved off course, certainly not by centers. Who have spent years 30 years trying to got America's capabilities. While our adversaries continue ramping up, the Senate will stay on this important bill until we complete it one way or another, the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, He was referring to Senator Bernie Sanders, independent from Vermont to caucuses with the Democrats following Senator McConnell on the floor Senate. Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, the minority leader, who said When it comes to these two issues that veto override and the stimulus checks, they should not be pitted against one another. Now, As I said yesterday, they are to two major issues before the Senate right now the annual defense spilled and the vital and important effort to send $2000 stimulus checks to American families. There are only a few days left in this session on the Senate should consider both issues. For a journey. There's a very simple solution to this dilemma. Leader McConnell should bring both measures up for a vote and let the chips fall where they may. I believe both measures. Then the defense override, and the $2000 checks to American families will both pass. But at the very least, the Senate deserves the opportunity for an up or down vote on increasing the individual payments to the American people. So at the end of my remarks, I will ask the Senate to set a time to night. For a vote on the House bill to provide $2000 checks. The Republican leader objected to a similar request I made yesterday and it appears he may be considering a different bill that packages stimulus checks with other unrelated and partisan policies. So I want to be very clear about one thing. There is no other game in town beside the House bill, the on leeway the on leeway. To get to the American people. The $2000 checks they deserve and need is to pass the House bill and pass it Now the house is recessed for the year. Any modification or addition to the House bill cannot become law before the end of this Congress. It's a way to kill to kill the bill. Make no mistake about it, either. The Senate takes up and passes the House bill or Struggling American families will not get $2000 checks during the worst economic crisis and 75 years Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer. He did ask for unanimous consent to bring up that bill and Senate Republican leader the majority leader, Mitch McConnell, did object.
Lawmakers to Trump: 'Sign the bill, Mr. President'
"President Trump has not yet signed that $900 billion Covert 19 relief bill from Congress. Mr Trump is pushing for bigger payments for Americans. In the $600 check coming with that bill. But Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders telling ABC today he says he believes the president is now holding the funds hostage. Can't diddle around. With the bill signed the bill, Mr President and then immediately Monday Tuesday, we can pass a $2000 direct payment of the working families of this country. And as
SATIRE: Voter fraud - Have we considered the usual suspects?
"Are here, of course with the president of the United States of America Mister Donald J Trump. Mr. President has everything going A tremendous just sending out a very powerful to read about election fraud right now that election more election fraud. You're still on the cake of election fraud. Well, it's about saying that country. Okay. I just gotta save the country when you turn the page on Election fraud is it like never and that will just be a thing that's like you're dead go to like kind of crooked Hillary. It's your election 2020 fraud. Is that going to be your like one of the things in your pocket always to go to and never stop talking about it? Crooked Hillary. We're looking into crooked Hillary as well right now. You know, you think she's a very vicious person crooked Hillary and I think she might have been behind some of the voter fraud wage. I think she might have been behind Summit and we're looking into it. You think she was behind voter fraud? No, I think she could have been I don't think there's anything stopping her from being a powerful motive a person, you know, she's very upset. I'm sure she's very upset she got beat in the greatest election of all time the greatest political upset, even though I wasn't upset. I was actually very happy by the way, and I think she might have done some voter fraud. There's no evidence of that and I haven't we're going to find some evidence. We're looking we're looking to maybe make some evidence to be honest. So we'll find some.
Trump Renews 'Rigged Election' Claim Against All Evidence
"President Trump is still teasing an election surprise. Despite just a week left before electors cast their votes. The majority of the president's legal options have run out, and his attorney, Rudy Giuliani, is hospitalized with coronavirus. Still the president to teased a turnaround. On Monday. He actually called me early this morning was the first girl call I got no, he's doing very well. That's another champion Greatest mayor in the history of New York, and what he's doing now is more important, and he will admit that he was the greatest mayor. Did a fantastic job, especially when you see what's going on nowadays, Dan Really. Julie Anne was a great great mayor and what he's doing now, and he will say it is even more important. A week from now, Mr President, the electors will meet to cast their vote. Not a lot of time between now and then, to make your case to overturn the boat at this point. Are you looking to change the outcome of the election or tried to make a case the American people that it wasn't? Well, I think the case has already been made. If you look at the poles, it was a rigged election. You look at the different states. The election was totally rigged. It's a disgrace to our country is like a third world country. These ballots pouring in from everywhere using machinery that nobody knows. Ownership. Nobody knows anything about they have glitches as they call them Glitches. Glitches weren't glitches They got caught. Sending out thousands of votes all against me, By the way, you know, this was like from a third World nation, and I think the case has been made, and now we find out what we can do about it, But you see a lot of big things happening over the next couple of days. It's unclear what options President Trump has left. As today is safe Harbor Day, a deadline in federal law that essentially means Congress has to us except the electoral votes that will be cast. Next week and other than Wisconsin. It appears every state is that today's the deadline to accept the votes that will be sent to the capital for counting on January 6th. Those votes will elect Biden as the country's next president, and that safe harbor provision a kind of an insurance policy, by which is state can lock in its electoral votes by finishing up certification of the results and any state court legal challenges by that congressional imposed deadline.

"The pardon wouldn't help at all you said before that trump's family potentially people that were convicted over the findings of the mullahs probe. Those are the kinds of people that he might seek to grant pardons to over the coming few weeks. What about to himself. How would that work. Yeah that's that's the that's the question. I've i've actually been writing about that. Since the mid nineties the president pardon himself. And when i started writing about that said why are you writing about that. That's crazy that'll never happen. And and i kept writing about trump presidency. Well i have a book that came out in two thousand twelve. And it's all about all of these crazy thing you prosecute the president while he's in office can. The president pardoned himself stuff with a loophole in term limits. He's been talking about it and yeah been using. I don't think he's read my book but a checklist and the news. So i should have written about me winning the lottery or something. What what. I what. I've argued in the mid ninety s. Was i said. Here's ezra argument. That presidents can't pardon themselves but the reason argument on the other end. There's no precedent so it's totally clear whether it would work or not. So he did it if he purported to pardon himself if federal prosecutors were going to go against anyway..

"All right so just to recap. We have two categories of people who've been pardoned by trump over there are his friends and supporters who've got into legal trouble and there are people who legal struggles a well known or his causes have been championed by celebrities. Right and then there's this kind of sub genre within the first group and that is people who've come into legal trouble because of their association with the donald trump campaign or with the trump presidency and again donald trump hasn't pardoned as many of them as he could've been he has pod and some there have been a lot of a lot more people could have pardoned. But but hasn't paul manafort for instance. The most recent is michael. Flynn who was convicted. He pleaded guilty. He hadn't been sentenced yet pleaded guilty to making false statements to the fbi who were investigating russian interference in the two thousand sixteen election. And so this really related directly to to trump himself trump announcing moments ago. He's granted a full pardon to his former national security adviser. Michael flynn who pleaded guilty to lying to the fbi. Mike flynn was only president. Trump's national security advisor for about twenty four days before he was fired for what the president said at the time was lying to vice president. Mike pence though. Of course we did later learned that he pleaded guilty twice to lying to the fbi about his contacts with the then russian ambassador to that was controversial. And then roger stone was probably the other one like that stone was A friend an adviser of trump's he was a member of the two thousand sixteen campaign and he was convicted again in relation to the investigation and russian interference in the elections and he was convicted on seven counts and then trump commuted his sentence. Let him out of out of his sentence before he had to report to prison. So what is remains to be seen if he'll if he'll this a lot more but what is shown as that he's very willing to say to send the message to people that hey if you If you stay loyal to me if you have my back. I'll have course all right now so far. All the cases and hypothetical cases that we've discussed have involved people who've been convicted of federal crimes. But there's a lot of speculation that the president might the about to start issuing preemptive pardons to write meeting people who are yet to be charged or convicted and with donald trump's son donald trump junior having been investigated for possible criminal collusion with the russians during the two thousand sixteen election and with two of his other children. Ivanka and eric trump also reportedly under investigation for taxi regularities. You can imagine the temptation relation is and there's been some reporting on this but who knows really what's going on is he could pardon everyone. He could pardon his family. Pardon he could try to pardon himself he could just say Look these people have served me. Well they have done done the right thing. And and and from his for these bad people are going to come in and invest them in prospect. I can ask them from that. So i'm going to. And how exactly does that preemptive. Pardon work is the shield against prosecution in the first place or does it kick in if and when a person is convicted. Well if they weren't going to be prosecuted for anything anyway. It doesn't really matter if they have a pardon but what would happen is The prosecutors to hey we have a case. Let's go against this person. And i would say you can't. I have a pardon and the prosecutor would have to not proceed as long as the pardon is valid i if they wanted to challenge the validity of the pardon they could but preemptive pardon would be Sort of a shutdown any case against them. And that's what we've seen in the past. So for instance. When nixon was pardoned by president ford after nixon resigned he was facing some serious potential criminal liability ford pardoned him. And so that just stopped.

"Aren't so it's an old power and it's kind of a corrective to the rigidity of the court system and because of that and is where it radically departs from anything. We have here in australia. The courts cannot review it so the president has the last word Obviously different presidents have used the pardon power in different ways now as we approach the end of president donald trump's time in office where sort of any renewed interest i guess in the power grant clemency. How has donald trump in using the pardon power so far during his term. And do you think that's about to change. He's been very Very aggressive about using his pardon power to sort of help out friends people who have Friends appealing to him. So usually what happens is the people get pardons are people. No one's ever heard of they go through a process in the department of justice where they say. look i. I served my sentence. It's been a long time. i. I'd like to be able to vote again. I'd like to be able to serve on a jury again. Some places be able to own a gun again. I'd to get this off of my record. And a lot of people apply for them and very few of them get recommended for pardon and what trump has been doing more than his predecessors is bypassing that process and just granting pardons to people that appeal to him so if sheriff joe pyo who we talked about earlier was the first example of that. He definitely wasn't lost. Brian says a controversial far-right filmmaker conspiracy theorists finished. Sousa was the next pot and to follow that pattern or right. We have some breaking news. The president he's actually just announced on twitter that he has plans to grant a full pardon to conservative commentator and author deneche desouza desouza pleaded guilty in twenty fourteen to campaign finance violations arising from contributions to a gop senate candidate in this author who he has a pardon is also a very well known conservative anti donald trump supporter and then came the pro trump media. Conrad black who wrote a biography about donald trump in two thousand eighteen. All right conrad. Black no longer has a criminal record in the united states. Convictions of wire fraud and obstruction of justice have been pardoned by president. Donald trump's not just the book there have been a number flattering columns that go all the way back to win. Donald trump was running for the presidency When one of those columns was published. Here's what donald trump tweeden to conrad black. He said what an honor to read your piece. He calls conrad black one of the truly great intellects and friends saying that. I won't forget. These are not people who would normally be recommended for parts through the regular process but president has the power to bypass that process in and trump has been enjoying that you. Can you can see. This is the one power he has where he can say it and it happens. He doesn't need to go through the deep state in the rest of the executive branch to to do his bidding congressional review or or judicial review. Here he just says it and it happens and you can see that appeals okay but even though this kind of power does seem to appeal to donald trump as we said before he actually hasn't been using it that much. How do we account for that. I'm not sure there's usually these people no one's ever heard of they go through the regular process. I don't know what's going on in the office of the pardon attorney at the department of justice. Maybe they haven't been sending along as many may be they have and he hasn't been following them even the people in that category who. They're not friends of his Sort of a cause celebre that these are people like probably the most famous one he did was a woman named alice. Marie johnson who was sort of a darling of criminal justice reform people. She had a really excessive sentence so what brought her to his attention. It wasn't the office of the pardon attorney process. It was kim kardashian who was very active in trying to convince him to pardon her and she made a good case. A lot of people agreed. Greet she deserves..

"This is an abc podcast. There's a lot about the us that he's hard to understand ranging from cheese in spray cans to the virtually unfettered rights of citizens to carry guns and form private militia. Another to add to that list is one startling. Legal power held by every sitting. Us president the able to grant pardons to whom ever they wish pardons are very positively for president. I think you see the way. I'm using that. And yes. I do have an absolute right to pardon myself. But i'll never have to do it. Because i didn't do anything wrong. And everybody knows it on stephen smiley and i'm angela and two down the signal. Donald trump hasn't pardoned too many people so far. But that might be about to change. So who's next and just. How far does this power extend. It's just so easy to endorse them. Because everything i believe in. He's doing he's going to do it when it becomes president so in two thousand sixteen year. Donald trump successfully ran for the presidency. He was having trouble getting high profile national officials to endorse him. But in the southwest state of arizona one local later with no hesitation. You know when. Sheriff joe gives you an endorsement. You know you're the king of the border right sheriff joe endorses you. You have the toughest immigration sheriff. Joe i love so joe pyo endorsed. Donald trump for president in two thousand sixteen and at the time he was sheriff in arizona but we national profile right so sheriff joe was not time for two things supporting the false conspiracy. That former president barack obama was not born in the united states which was something that donald trump also claimed for several years. And the being famously. Tough on illegal immigration and it was his position on immigration especially latinos. That got him into legal trouble. So in mid two thousand seventeen. Six months after donald. Trump's inauguration joe pyo was convicted in federal court of criminal contempt after the court found. He'd deliberately ignored an earlier court order that his department stop. Racially profiling latinos then. Donald trump's weaved into office and the first partner office using his constitutional power to pardon goes to none other than sheriff. Jaure pyo that. Of course the extremely controversial figure in maricopa county in arizona who was convicted of criminal contempt of court for refusing to stop detaining latino immigrants in violation according to the court of their civil rights. Strong on borders. Very strong on illegal immigration. He is loved in arizona. I thought he was treated unbelievably unfairly when they came down with their big decision to go get him. Okay now legal. Experts say ponding like joe up higher isn't really what the presidential clemency power was meant to do and isn't how most presidents have used it either but as in lots of ways. Donald trump has not been a conventional president to start with. We might get you to introduce yourself with your full name and title plays sure. I'm brian call. Time law professor and herald norris faculty scholar at michigan state university. Just to start at a very basic place for australians. this is somewhat a foreign concept to us that show what is a pardon and why do they exist in the first place so the pardon power in the united states derived from from the british pardon power the king or queen could pardon someone and It was seen when the constitution the us was written as a way of avoiding some of the harsh fact criminal justice system proceeds way. It normally would Sometimes things need to be softened around the edges people technically. They're guilty technically. They should be punished under the law. But using our policy judgment we see that they deserve They deserve some grace for forgiveness and it can also be a bargaining the framers of the constitution. Talked about how important it was even to allow pardons treason. Because there's a rebellion pardons can be a good way to end the rebellion saying. Look john your guns. we can We can pardon you and call it a day kind of like around without totally blowing up the rule of law. Yeah exactly. It's like a waiver instituations where following the law would would put us a bad place and And it's it's pretty standard powers as presidential powers go to the big bay was president. And if you could take a position of leadership show something that was top ranking Georgia election official Gabriel Sterling Joe Degenova is on President Trump's legal team for his election lawsuits. Chris Krebs is the former United States director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, who was fired from his position two weeks ago. Here's more from Sterling, Mr President. It looks like you likely lost the state of Georgia. We're investigating. There's always a possibility I get and you have the rights to go through the courts. What you don't have the ability to do and you need to step up and say this is stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone's gonna get hurt. Someone's gonna get shot. Someone's gonna get killed. Here to talk about what's going on in the lead up to Georgia's Senate runoff, says Emma Hurt a reporter at W A. B C. That's Atlanta's NPR station. Emma. Thanks so much for being here. Thanks for having me Jen, so just elaborate a bit more on sterling speech. What threats are election officials and workers facing the state. Yes. So he's talking specifically about a contractor in his twenties for the voting machine company that state uses. There was a video of him that went sort of viral on pro Trump social media, and there was a close up of his name badge. And so he was personally targeted. You know, Sterling mentioned a news being found outside his house. He's had death threats, said he should be hung for treason. His family has also been targeted. And this isn't the first time that there's been this kind of attack on a election worker of Fulton County election worker had to go into hiding closer to the election because he was being harassed because of a different out of context. Viral video. And I mean, our senators immediately responded to Sterling's statement, saying, We do condemn this violence. The president's campaign also said that but you know, they said, we're going to stand by our questioning of the election. We still think that things went wrong. But the president this morning didn't take that. Fact, he called the election rigged again. Which again you know, Election officials have repeatedly said, isn't true. So it zip it of chaos right now. Well, as you say the allegations of widespread misconduct are simply not True, but is that clear to voters in Georgia? Yeah. I mean, that's the question, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be to some voters on down in Georgia and across the country, even though these messages about there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud have been consistently coming out of Georgia's Republican controlled secretary of state's office. Those officials are now being attacked from the right for saying that by supporters of the president who believe that the election was rigged and that there were problems President Trump called our secretary of state, the enemy of the people. That's someone that he endorsed and who endorsed him on DSA. So it's the Republican officials are trying their best to counter this misinformation. Starling called it a game of whack a mole, but you know, it's a difficult, you know, you wonder if voters will hear that if they're already Questioning those officials personally, will they believe them when they tell them that there have been now two recounts in Georgia? What's the latest? Yes. So we had a hand count that was part of a state wide audit last week, and this week is the kind of formal recount by machines scanner that the Trump campaign requested. What we heard this morning from the secretary of State's office is that it's on track and that they're not seeing any Signs that the voting the vote totals might change by very much at all.
Pelosi, Schumer back stimulus bill after months of holding out for more money
"We've got House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate of Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer supporting a $908 billion bipartisan stimulus proposal. They said it could be the foundation for a new round of negotiations with congressional Republicans and the White House and this marks the first public retreat from their backing of a much larger $2.4 trillion pandemic relief package. So the move putting pressure now on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the GOP to act Meanwhile, McConnell on the Senate floor today, said he's been circulating his own plan to fellow Republicans. But at the risk of repeating something we all know Mr President. Making law will require not just the Senate's approval, but also the signature of the president of the United States. So after several conversations with Secretary of the Treasury and the White House shooting, Steph I put forward yesterday another proposal. Reflecting what the president Is ready to sign into law. We're told. This is largely a revision of an earlier $500 billion plan that had been rejected by Democrats says inadequate. Even so, House Majority Leader Steny Hope, Sawyer said House and Senate leaders a striving for a deal on pandemic relief by the weekend. And it will be voted on in the middle of

Well tensions rose between israel and iran after the assassination of iran's senior nuclear scientists on friday. Most inflec- rosado is believed to have led iran's military nuclear program until it was disbanded in two thousand three and was subject to sanctions by the trump administration. He was shot near the capital. But details are still sketchy. State media pointed to a team of five or six gunmen in one report and a remote controlled machinegun and another the killing still under investigation. Police repeatedly fired tear gas into the crowds in paris on saturday. Even though the mood was largely peaceful aside from some demonstrators set fire to the country's central bank. Okay that is not minor if passed. The law would criminalize publishing images of police officers with the intent of causing harm as punishment. People could face up to a year in jail and a fine of over fifty thousand dollars civil liberties groups say the new proposal will take power away from the media and allow police abuses to go undiscovered. This all comes just days after video service of police officers beating michael a black music producer in paris. The officers responsible have since been suspended. "It's monday wads. Quite as i miss you guys well today. We're talking about gamers in politics this weekend. Congresswoman alexandria ocasio. Cortez did another livestream of the online game. Among us. with the leader of canada's left-leaning new democratic party jagmeet singh they were joined by representatives ilhan omar as well as popular streamers like hassan piker and pokey main and as hundreds of thousands watched they raise two hundred thousand dollars for food legal aid organizations in new york as we talked about before among us. It's kind of like the game. Mafia and to be really good at it. You have to be really good at lying. So aaron i question for you. Are you good or bad at lying to wingate's so first of all people who are truly good at lying never admit that they're good at lying. You always say you're bad at lying. 'cause like that's an opportunity to lie paradox. I'm a little more analog. I'm a little bit more of a balderdash person than i am. An among us person. Wow i have no idea what balderdash is. I've heard the word. But if i couldn't tell you it's a game for nerds where you come up with definitions to obscure words and you try to trick people into thinking the real definition. I would lose that just. Because i don't know i'm not gonna investigate if that's what you say it is fine and then i'll use it wrong and then i'll be mad at you. It's a it's a really fun game. You really only need a dictionary. A few nerds and some index cards. But i'm pretty good at balderdash. I'm bad at other lying games. Like poker My face just can't be tamed. But i think that. I'm i think i'm about average lying as part of gamesmanship. Same question for you akilah okay. Well i believe that. I am okay. So like specifically in among us. I am terrible and i think it's because it is such a fast paced game like you can like lie and poker with your eyes and just sort of like you know ease into it. No one's rushing you but with among us the moment somebody finds a dead body. You're just on the spot and what were you doing. And i'm like doing besides killing doing make something up to like. I was doing a task. We haven't seen. I don't know like i think i'm bad at coming up with like a convincing. Live right you know like with poker. It's like your cards are good or bad. The michael they could be good right. Who's to say that's more of a like philosophical question I don't assign value to these. But like anytime i'm really put on the spot. I think that it's i'm just gonna start laughing as i do. In all cases and people were pretty quick to be like. We're voting you out. It's also bad. Because i like literally get voted out. I'm innocent in among us. Because i start laughing. I think he wants to tear me like are you joking. Yeah just don't get it. That's that's a bad tick. If you're trying to fool people into thinking you're telling the truth also truth be told. I haven't played among us yet. I've wanted to. But i keep confusing among us with the last of us which is oh in-depth. That's like a real video. Gets up very serious and amazingly well rendered video game. That is really really sad. And so i'm like why are all these people getting together in streaming this video game above about a girl with the dead family. Like why is this happening but Also soon to be a show. I think the last. Oh wow yeah. I think i heard that i mean i just think among us just the you know the one pixel very cheap looking. We're all little jelly beans. Sometimes you can put on different outfits you difficulties and super simple jelly being an outfit. I didn't know they were outfits. Okay yeah. I dressed as an astronaut. Which is the only right costume because your space but other people can be a cowboy. You'd be pumpkin. gosh..

"Seems like trump is just trying to come up the gears. Yeah but biden can undo all this yet. It's not as easy as the stroke of a pen. Unfortunately there's a really good propublica story that explains all of this which will link to in the show notes. But some of trump's rules have been so hastily written out there probably as riddled with mistakes as a sydney powell legal brief and we'll be left out of the courtroom like sydney depot. Legal brief but other stuff will take a while to fix. There's really no one doing all the damage trump and mitch. Mcconnell senate have done to the judiciary system There's still ramming judges through by the way instead of passing. Covert relief horrible. And it's going to take a lot of work to fuck fucker immigration system. You know akilah. Sometimes i wonder how much different our lives would be. If trump had worked even one tenth is hard to keep covert out of the us as he did to keep guatemalan toddlers out of the us. Yeah honestly it's fun to imagine. I mean if even if he didn't have any actual actions but just didn't like actively make it harder to stop the spread. Only if he wasn't just out here saying that masks fake how many more people would be alive. I mean he's a lazy man and it is easier to not sabotage than it is to actively sabotage like. He could have done less work and had a better outcome. Yeah that's how you know. He's a true idiot. Well another area. For trump right now is pardons just last week. He pardoned his former national security adviser. Michael flynn so who's next. Well let's not give them any ideas. So it's not totally odd for presidents to issue a lot of pardons during their lame duck session. Although going overboard is frowned upon and giving up pardons to people based on political favors is even more frowned. Upon to bill clinton for example turned a lot of people off when he gave out seventy six clemencies on his final day in office including one for his brother but when his donald trump ever felt shame when has been frowned upon ever been something that has made donald trump not wanna do something so far he has pardoned michael flynn who pled guilty for lying to the fbi twice and he's also got a lot of friends who do a lot of crimes like steve bannon and his His build the wall drifting organization that bought a vote that they got arrested by the post office. Yeah and he got arrested great story. Let's do that story story again. Just just for fun just for a victory lap think. The ship was called warfighter. Something stu hong loser oh man paul manafort another crime enthusiasts So i'm sure that there is going to be more pardons of very bad people in store but wait. We don't have to end unabashed note. Remember in just a matter of weeks. Joe biden will be the president and he's already building a team that is world's more qualified than the school bus full of eighty s teen movie bullies that trump appointed for example on sunday. He announced an all female communications team. Yeah i look forward to talking more about that later in the show and more this week because i am very very tired of talking about trump in particular. He can absolutely kickbacks.

You have a method of keeping quiet. That's no no he become worse. What's worse if you're on the party bus when there's lob music if you do a quick vibration that follows on the seat for all to feel what if somebody paused the music when you gotta let it rip times couple of couple of girls were in the midst of being the most obnoxious part of your most of knock girls just wanna have hit part of it good. You just looked around but yeah he's talking about the gashes decompression theory most most dudes know about. How do you not know about this. And about the a fucking bone shattering rip out at a fine dining establishment. And you you ready for this watch. It's a casual loosening of this finger. That's all it is okay so you're tightened up because you know it's coming and you are using varying ratio driven metrics to loosen your butthole as the farc pushes downward because of gravity and now. Here's the off now. You're asking questions that put if you ak- slight miscalculation on gaseous decompression it actually compounds the so so north. Okay so you have to join this decompression which is the right way. You have full on fallout fallout boy. We call it which is just a disaster. But if you fuck up at fifty percent of decompression it's almost like a compound exponential effect and so. It's almost like three at once because you didn't follow through with the original being a boy. I mean girls. Girls go through that too. Obviously but i presume that it's a little bit more prominent for males being a boy. There's a lot of that balance of the body balance of the inner workings of the body that we have to master. Get down to a t. Something tells me that. I was about shaking my head and agree with you but something tells me that we're absolutely wrong on that because of the whole having a giant said boobs that are fucking falling all over the place in a talking head over talking about. I'm talking about. I'm talking about farts males reaching the point of no return on which shit your pants after farting will. It's also daniel george charts. Have you shot. I was i was out. I one of the most famous charts human history that has been televised and talked about hundreds of thousands of times. The pants at your sister's what in owning the most rented menswear. I'm turning that sue bag in disaster. He november live. But we gotta chicken sandwich from the delhi down. Seven eleven camano sandwich from the gas station the night before us out by myself meeting tender in the bed that you make i was talking about. I was talking about jackie latian. That's how i was talking about. What what well. How do we get. He appointed to overturn. Do this to overturn this points. Been coming for a while of no return. What do you mean. we can't go back. Go no. It's just tough dude tom. What about jerking off. I like we girls are able to come fifty six times in a good good good selfish. It's good for them. You're jealous when i used to sit and watch my ex girlfriend masturbate with her magic wand. What sorry have across some sort of line. I feel like this is a decent topic. What would you say this happens. What's going on right is happen explaining what your concern. Is you watch her. Master's my ex girlfriend is obsessed with mass talk about her like like this open real late enough at into this episode. I'm talking to the fucking shit. What the fuck dude relationships on in shitty plays all right. Whatever i guess. I could say whatever the fuck along her almost like a girl loves to fuck masturbate right attaching tachi magic wand which allows goes out there. Us i'll just be playing call warzone. This girl will run through a cycle of. I'll be like yo. How many times did you just come. And she'll say sometimes she'll say eighteen six. this is where it's no longer relatable. I feel there's somebody out there who what it is that and like honestly like but but just ca casually like she like normal relationship. Maybe you're playing a video game. Maybe girls butch just go to town okay. Maybe i'm the ivanenko is no. You're not you're the normal. Go babe what are you gonna watch something you turn on like maybe some of your old content or like what are you. What are you gonna watch. And she says. I'm thinking about you and your stupid curly hair and that made you come. Nineteen times you'll as can i ask you. Are you ever distracted while playing games and just in the background. She's not super vocal like that. She goes so happens. Is this 'cause. I've also not been playing games when she does. Sometimes we'll watch a movie and she'll roll into it for twenty minutes. Okay i i have been very simple right after this. Explain it to first of all. Be watching the movie. Then i'll hear the sound of the magic wand to tell you just start right and he'll be under the blanket be under the blanket and then the bottom of the blanket that i'm under as well we'll start to lift up because her feet are becoming. Rigor mortis and they're stiffening. All the girls are know exactly what their legs will become. Rigor mortis lifting uncontrollably off the couch. Dan headphones go lifting off the couch. Her chestnut fill up with air please. Giggles starts levitating celebrity. Be will simply hear this. And and almost as if she is. Lifted from a seance or some sort of dream state she. She looks at me like this. She goes you go. Was that a good one or tobacco as you would expect it literally goes she goes. She goes answer right back into it again. So you and then and then. I'll just start shaking. Likes lift off the ground. And i'm and i'm like i i'll watch. What are you watching minions. And i we know controversial man whatever and then i think tomorrow i'm like i'm thinking to myself and she's so vastly enjoying it. And there's all this tingling going on i think to myself like the last time i jerked off was forty six seconds of some of the most guilty dreadful time in my life and i came into a an old sock and then went downstairs and prayed for forgiveness. Why are men's. Why is men's masturbation so much less stimulating cool and exciting than women's. I think it's because they have a tool. I think it's because they have an electronic also. I'm gonna make a bold statement. Men's masturbation technology has not kept up with women's as a broad statement right now. Your tool goto tool for masturbation is a dry fucking hand. It's your hand. Imagine if you're go to tool goto tool for searching..

"You love this man. You know we got. We got a group. Chat now is cool. Shallow to the girl lands here jazzy. For like the life gig. 'cause he he really is a lover anyways. Go ahead yeah. He was seeing. You seen with julia. Anne house at brothers story today and julia is back in the picture august. Poor harry or i mean. I don't know what happened right. But i seen julia with my brother again. And it just goes to show man this this. La relationship stuff is tricky one day. You're together one day. You're not words one day you're flying on a jet across the country with some athlete or it's just fucked dot man. It's all fucked up. It's like it's like you think you have things like i said. I think you have things figured out in the moment or by the way. There's also like other things that pull you. There's a lot of temptation. I don't know if anybody watching this knows it's but there's a lot of good looking people in the city. I can't relate to any of this. Shit i know because you're a good christian who lives in arizona. I guess not gonna no. It's like first of all get that. No it's just people need to understand when she gets hard he can't just throw it away. It's not you can't archivist picture. You them saying yeah. I'm looking at you bitch. My girlfriend this fucking poor woman down and talk to both of you guys. You catch a fucking grip or catch these hands just not. They're just not easy easy though it is you guys. He's got a fucking second up. And if you pull the trigger mean it don't fucking just pull the trigger to pull the trigger. It's not an air soft gun because no because sometimes you pull the trigger irrationally halon doors and maybe door you do with how you talk how we do it in different places you you are one that sticks out your relationship and you make it through tough times and you're grounded in in a little bit more of simplicity. You understand that in both are relationships that there are factors that you don't have to necessarily deal. No i understand. All i get it. But both sides mess. Let me let me talk. I've had that relationship. Where i break up and get back and break up and get back and do this and do that but you gotta start taking time to realize might be fucking you and it was. It was me at the second up for anybody listening. They're going to hate me for saying this. But i'm alan on on a quick track to get cancelled soon. Sada's might as well hop on that train. I believe i might be old fashioned. I feel like a man in the relationship needs to be a leader but doesn't mean it's worth more. I'm not saying the man's worth more saying you got to lead. With example i feel has a lot of hormones are built this way. If they're going off the wagon respect it deal with it like a man how. What the if to fucking couples are like freaking out every two seconds to me. That's two chicks. Do you have your right first of all wrong with dating or george. Listenclear quarter triptych. Cancel me. I agree with you. I speak for myself. There's a certain amount of ego that exists in a relationship between to delist pseudo celebrities. One who has every rapper in his inner fucking inbox and thirteen million instagram. And the other one is a proud host of the number one one eight six. Listen what i'm getting at. Is this factors understand that certain relations have more simplicity. I'm not saying you're relationships easy. I'm just saying i. I have not been as good me personally. She's done great. I've not been as good as you're saying. I should be at navigating the insane waters. That is a fucking internet relationship. Which is why no matter what happens. I'm i feel confident. In saying i won't have a return to an to a couple of channel that that adds an aspect long. Did you post the video before breaking after breaking up how long it was a little quick look. It was an amateur so fucking. There's another factor that you have to take into account what i what i probably. Yes your relationship here. Here's a here's a what i was gonna say. 'cause you're right a relationship tell you it will tell you what's wrong with you. Hundreds lot lot of room for personal growth in relationships. I'm gonna steal this quote from our friend. Our good friend who you guys both know and love guru saw this going viral on tiktok. I'm gonna steal it. And hopefully now. I go viral on tiktok as if these are my words. This is the bad breath one. I'm going to say okay. What listen let's say you don't brush your teeth for three days right side guru said your nose right above your mouth your nose right above your mouth your sniffer won't be able to tell that your breath smells but breath. Smells bad but everyone in the room will know that. Your breath smells bad right. He said this is the human predicament. It's so easy to say. Oh this is. What's wrong with her was wrong with him. This was wrong with that guy over there but it's so much harder to tell. What do i have to improve here. What's wrong with me. And what areas do. I need to work on your noses right above your mouth. What he's saying. How in theory. It should be so easy to look inward smell your breath and identify where you need to improve what your shortcomings are. But it's just not for whatever reason that's the human predicament. Thanks a lot of work. It takes a lot of work in a lot of maturity and maybe a drop of the ego. That's hard for me. it's. It's just for me to like george georgia's ben in relationships. I haven't been in a relationship in over a decade. And the first one i got into was highly publicized. A massive integration between love and business which is just tragic tricky tricky tree the amount of times when we should've taken a one week break to to gather our thoughts but couldn't because we had content to deliver to the night shift audience gave up again and i will too with. This is a learning lesson for me. I do need to do a lot better. And i love the idea that i have separated that relationship from the night shift brand i. I never wanted to have a couple of channel. I saw the views. Eight million on the first video than six million and five million than eight million four million. I lost track of the idea that one point five million two million views. Doing what i wanna fuck in do is way more important than eight million views from people who are coming to see a girl channel but you hit trending for the first time. How'd that feel. I did it without her on the phone now because she was the topic. Fuck you know why why you're trending. I figured out. Because i took the night shift. Maybe possible. Youtube trending wholesomeness wholesomeness. My editor said the store. Our food group chat the other day. This was the training page. I mean this diktat galore and look how wholesome best friends each other costumes. Baking halloween treats rating halloween. Candy carving pumpkins for my best friends charlie. Now james chase. Ray dixie demilio. These people are just so wholesome. And i fear that i've have gone down the wrong path too long. I don't know if i'm holding. Here's my question for you. Where where are they making these people like. Where are these people being because these are clearly moltes built from a built from a factory. Do you know the power. Puff girls. Yes you know how the doctor a little sugar spice and something nice. That's how these people were made so what. Where did the doctor go wrong with me when he started adding. You're mr moser jo-jo yours just like glue go in comes out the boehner paul. Little points some chicken sandwiches chick-fil-a. Yeah no this. Is you also created by the doctor. Like you're the you're the evil green monkey with the big brain created by the doctor. Yeah that's the power of girls beat up. So this is. I mean some could interpret this saying you're going to get your ass kicked by tiktok stars. I guarantee i can almost guarantee that. By twenty twenty one. I'll have had my ass be by the house or drip cravers..

Pain me was the running mate for borough. Yes, and he had that debate and right fun line. was there a? Vice Presidential debate thing is that what who was part? That was that was a big night for me. That was the debate and a braves playoff game I remember that. No better combination in the world. Knows some people would ask, why am I here? Why. What is my real agenda I? Don't know what don't you share it with us now. Since. No kidding. Nancy Pelosi very confident about the outcome of the election on Tuesday. Maybe a little too confident listen to this. But we are ready. I feel very confident that Joe Biden will be elected president. On Tuesday but ever the. and. Count is. On the election that occurs on Tuesday, he will be elected on January twentieth, he will be inaugurated president of the United States. So while we don't want to be overconfident assume anything we have to be ready. For how we're going to go down a different path Yeah, and is UKIO. Doesn't matter what the tally is. Where we? We figured out ways to get Joe in there Yeah. That's what it sounds like. Doesn't it That's exactly what it sounds like. Tight I mean. I don't WanNa believe that that would take away all the hope that we've been trying to interject into this thing the last several weeks. So I'm going to ignore that particular reference to choose to just that didn't happen. Fast. Rigged already don't worry about very fashionable mask she was wearing wasn't it? We have a still shot could we that she's been wearing some? Really hip masks of late and that's another one right. There is nice. That's a good looking mask. Good And again, it doesn't do a thing but. You're welcome to wear it. That's great. You know what's interesting is here we are all wearing masks and what's happening according to them right now it's spreading faster than ever everybody in this country is where it a mask we have to. Everywhere we go. It's a rule that you have to put your mask on inside have to wear masks get. Right. But if you want to go into a restaurant, if you want to go into a seven eleven, if you want to go to the grocery store, if you want to do any kind of business, you gotta wear the. Mask. So where you're ask and we have so what's happening? are the infections going down? Well, that's never been chip Smith he doesn't just do this story. Interjections Liberal bullcrap viewpoints into everything if Ouchi. Now, the nation's leading expert on infectious diseases joins US DR FAUCI. Thank you. Good. To be with you you've said a national mask mandate is maybe a good idea. Why maybe? Yeah. Why not? Definitely why not order every? Time why? Why Dr? Algae. Well, the reason is I would hope that we could pull together as a country have realized the we have interrupted importance. Not, and that's the reason why I said very clearly is it time? We lean on you for advice. Do we need a national mandate? Answer. Well we do. If we don't get one, then I would hope that the governors and the mayors do it locally if it's not done nationally, Dr Foul we need to get. Done foul chests are you still are deposits? Are you still in the president's E. or no and if so who if not who is? Well I haven't spoken to the president in quite a while about the situation with regard to the outbreak until the answer's No. But I can tell you right now. Why regardless of that? What we why? Why shouldn't they do a national man I don't know have you heard of this? Freedom. Of the United States Constitution why? Why wouldn't you want everybody to do your will why? Why don't you put everybody into an internment camp who won't wear one why you need is adherence to mandate or not? If mandate is needed, let's do a mandate. One, who for? He's not. GonNa let me Finish Finish Any urgent the situation I know it is very urgent then that's Urgently saying every single day that we've got to do things that have not been done uniformly and consistently throughout the country, the numbers that you put up our stunning this is going to get worse because we're going more into a colder season as we get through the fall and into the winter holiday season going to. Win something different. We can't just let this happen. We're going to have many more hospitalizations and that will inevitably lead to more deaths. So this is untenable situation and that's the reason why I say we have got to do these things you're using the word mandating mass. Yes. If that works, let's do it I. Don't think it's going to happen nationally if it doesn't nationally again free reason is because it might. Not come from the White House to do it. Then I think that the mayors and the.

"This is important to find out. I have no doubt that this involves Russia and it was Hillary Clinton and she says has to him before we make this deal. I WANNA make sure how involved with trump as far as the last election. People God's really saving democracy so I WANNA go back to what you said at the beginning of this. which is that? Not only did trump doing wrong in this conversation but it was his responsibility to do what he did. So a lot of Democrats have been saying that the president put his political political interests above US national interests. And what I hear you saying is the president put interest of the United States and American take personal interest. That's what you believe. I'm saying that was his friend who is carrying out a presidential prerogative and presented abrogation. And you really don't think he was primarily driven by. It was in his own political interest. Here I would say he didn't. He didn't talk about corruption. In general in Ukraine the lot corrupt characters in Ukraine rain a lot of corrupt oligarchs. It's pretty endemic. And this was not a request for US or institutional changes to fight corruption. It was about a particular matter that happened to be related to his own. Little Big Manitoba. Well over a million dollars. It did affect the previous administration to the Obama Administration. They knew about it they can do anything about it now. For instance the ambassador. She said when she was being brief her confirmation hearing the State Department was an instructor. Have answer questions about Joe Biden son working for the energy company so they were showing me aware of it so then was the was the president's call perfect subscribed it though. I would say that he should have handled it differently. But I'm just saying it's not impeachable and it's not it's not wrong now and there's always listen anytime you make a farm agent H.. How often you make a foreign policy decision? This primary and secondary effect primaries out the country secondary and maybe close to being primary is to help you so politically. What should he have done differently? I would have said do me a favor. That's his way of talking. But I mean for instance what President Obama me when he leaned over to medved epn said Tell Vladimir after the election. We can have a better deal. Oh we work work things out. I mean that's to me is asking Putin not to be attacking him during the campaign so just to be clear if you had an opportunity to talk to him before he made this call and more advising him. What would you have told him? I would say don't say anything that could be misinterpreted by the media. Oh by your political. which he clearly did he Again I can't give you specific examples. But he says a lot of things with them him that politically incorrect things where he has no reason to trust me or others not to go to the media and get a headline story not anything corrupt. He just says does things that the guy in. Here's drink but he's the guy that they would bosses and yeah but look you know. I think a lot of people when when they read the transcript I mean they saw through it right away that this was to ask about. The Biden's was just something. President Shun Chun and the vice president was all about getting over a million dollars from a corrupt company in a country that we're trying to reform and Joe Biden supposed to be in charge of making sure. The reforms happen. It raises issues. What about the other part of the favor about you know these what he was saying about crowd strike and the missing Dnc Server River and all? Yeah all of which is you know largely debunked conspiracy theories. There's no evidence that there's a missing Democratic National Committee server in Kiev some place or any doubt. I don't think there's any doubt in your mind that it was the Russians who interfered in our election in two thousand sixteen sixteen correct. I mean as far as far as I know emails was Russia. There was some Ukrainian involvement. I'm your political story about how there was some documents. CONCERTED INSERTED GOVERNMENT EFFORT TO AGREE METADATA. Who told him that and again But there's nothing impeachable about that. He's of evidence if it was a somebody in the Ukrainian government. Who's doing that fine? But he wasn't he said. Check it out okay. That was lingering in his mind this well at the same time. He's suspended military military assistance. This country at the time right but but trump had done that he had cut off military sits at just before that phone call. I think a week or so. Oh before you know a lot of people look at that and say yeah if you could tell it was together I mean Brock Obama no the Russian intelligence was giving information to British intelligence to use against president trump and the campaign and at the FBI director is going to use that as a basis to spy for the first time. Ever a presidential campaign. You know you can always tie these things together or when Obama to- Medvedev to tell Vladimir I'm GONNA go Better deals after the election then decides not to supply weapons so Ukraine not Russia back into Syria. You can always make up conspiracy theories I just think president trump could have been more discreet. And how he did it. And but he he is different congressman before the show. You you said you got to lift back on Air Force. One President offer you a ride back plane into DC from New York. What did he say you about this whole impeachment process? What was he thinking about it? And we didn't go into details about the conversation. It was basically that he you did nothing wrong. He's just trying to figure out how the votes would be when what the time schedule would be. It was more of a the assumption of the whole conversation and also Mark Meadows with me. We're on a C.. Went in from the trump tower in the limousine down to the Wall Street heliport took marine one to JFK. And then the ED force one to Washington I'd say only because that's three separate conversations but they all presume that he was innocent and how's it going to work in the House and Senate that I was so we never got into the merits of the case is did he ask you whether you thought That he was lose any Republican votes in the house. He was right then relying on the fact could he not. He kept all Republican votes and use. He seemed fairly optimistic. That he's counting votes. Oh Yeah No. He's here now he's If he follows his stuff very I mean that that's what it was like. A Guy Falls baseball box scores. He knows who's form and WHO's against any given time who maybe against him any time well L. are they're going to be any republican defections. That vote for impeach. You don't know I mean I'm not going to give you. Any names is two or three. That were possible but I think that the we saw. We'll heard walking down the hall a little while ago. Yeah we'll Also again. I want to be hard. I right now. Don't see anyone you one but you know people said maybe possibly two or three only been two or three who before it started showed some concern. Yeah and how about Democrats who might not There were two who voted not to authorize the inquiry. Sorry yeah there's a few more again I don't want to be putting them on the spot but I see fewer possibly again. This is taking such a dimension anyway so I I would think extraordinary pressure on them but I also had a number of Democrats. Come to me not necessarily for good government reasons which we weren't doing this because from districts trump carried or trump has almost be something like a NRA gun vote in that's Republicans are the people who like trump. I Never GonNa Forget if you if you've office impeachment and they just in some of these close to the district's they don't want to have that built in opposition for something that they feel is not that stronger case. We should point out that you are one of the few Republicans who bucks the NRA quite a bit as supporter gun control measures. Yeah I was just trying to think of something when you build again. I have a built in group of pro gun. People who never forgive me I can. I can get a medal for doing something. involving healthcare going facebook took away a second amendment rights in a steal my gun so now I mean it's I think there could be some on the democratic side right who may thirty nine whatever. The number of Democrats was who got elected seats. That trump carried in twenty sixteen. I know that hearing from those those you know those voters now. If a person feel strongly about impeachment I think they were both if they don't think it's such a great idea to go into a now that this was driven by the base and it's going on Logan. They thought they were hoping to get it over Thanksgiving also we should point out. I think you're the only member of Congress who voted against impeachment Bill Clinton case and leaning heavily toward voting against impeachment I WanNa ask you means I'm never wrong. Never Right. Ah Why. Why did you vote against Clinton's impeachment? Again it just didn't rise to the level of impeachment ice set at the time thinking but what a community I mean strip everything else away. The president is undergoing a civil in civil lawsuit being questioned about whether or not he had an affair with someone while he's in office and he's been asked us and if said yes that would have ended his presidency and nothing to do with being president really and I say this is going to come back is going to come back to haunt and a lot of people in could infusing back with what Republicans are doing Clinton at the time can be used against us. I don't see it being the same here but if you get somebody the The president may have had extramarital affairs and if they were under oath how they've answered the question. That's what I thought. It was a bad. So many to me you know these abuses abusers power and that now I don't know if Bill Clinton wouldn't survive today in the metoo movement era but so you were reelected many times after that but after that vote Did you experience the ire of your constituents. I did on the other hand. Bill Clinton had carried my district but it was the the Republicans to this day the day after I announced that I was not running for Congress. Newsday random letters the the first weather they printed was the guy said. This happened twenty years to lady should've left the day. He voted against bill. Clinton took so long memories. People have ah again on both sides all much more likely. Remember a negative..

"Michael Issacov's chief. Investigative correspondent for Yahoo News. And I'm Dan Kleinman Editor in chief of Yahoo the news you know. I suspect that a lot of our listeners cannot comprehend where Republicans are coming from on this impeachment. Debate that watching the hearings. They find them mouthing talking points that seem out of joint with what the evidence is. So you know. I'm been really interested in in hearing king who's usually reasonable guy who can talk talked to members on both sides of the aisle you know who kind of has a certain upbeat optimistic side to him that that seems out of joint in the time we're in how he could come down as such a staunch defender of the president. Yeah it's fascinating and you know as you said he's pragmatic he's like Machine Paul and away comes out of that Nassau County machine and you know that was a era when politicians they could fight and they could fight dirty and they could be partisan but they were also transactional you know. They wanted to get stuff done and so they did deals. They were dealmakers trump right. Yeah and maybe that maybe so you know I imagine that there's probably in some ways some kind of cultural affinities between trump and And King although King I think has working class roots. Not Trump. They do both. I'm from Queens. But it's GonNa be fascinating to hear him. Talk about. Trump is interesting because you know he. He has been a fairly moderate member of Congress but in the trump era like just about all of them. He's been kind of lockstep defending this president. Yeah I I should point out that there is a consistency. See there in the sense that he was one of only five Republicans who voted against impeaching Bill Clinton. So you know this may be as he sees is it part of a larger philosophical framework. The dangers all right impeaching a president and overturning. The results election right. There's one thing thing for standing up for a principal like that. It is another thing if you are defending this president's conduct all the way through you know beyond the question of impeachment so it'll be interesting to see whether he makes any kind of distinctions especially this week when we have some really momentous testimony coming coming up but I think we've all been anticipating Gordon Sunland. Who was the ambassador to the European Union who was trump's guy on the ground around Ukraine? Who was pushing for the investigations into the Biden's supposed Ukrainian interference in the two thousand sixteen election? He he kind of when he first got up there and testified in closed doors. He denied that he was aware of any linkage between the Demand for investigations and the suspension of military aid. He had to amend his testimony once but then we got this. Even more damning testimony testimony from David Holmes. The State Department official who was there in the Kiev restaurant when Sunlen gets the phone call from President President Trump and then tells everybody there. President trump doesn't give a shit about the Ukraine. But he does care about those investigations. Negations into the Biden's yeah. I love that detail and that quote because it seems to be somewhat at odds with a lot of the Republican talking talking points from last week's hearings in which they said well. That phone call was all about corruption. The president wants to investigate corruption because corruption in Ukraine part of one of his foreign policy. Goals that we clean up all those corrupt countries That surround Russian Federation. I also love the fact that at least as reported in the New York Times that sunland actually held up the phone in this Ukrainian restaurant for everyone to listen to what Ed trump was saying. It's just a great image. Yesterday he is he is at least up to now Silane is the pivotal witness in this investigation. According to a national security official. WHO's also testified? This week to Morrison Samland spoke to trump about all of this for as many as six six six times. And you know the thing that we don't know is what those direct conversations between trump and silent were about and whether trump trump directed sunland to deliver the quid pro quo to the Ukrainians which silent has said that he delivered at the sidelines of of a meeting in Warsaw in September first but we have not heard testimony about how that came to be and whether it was a direct order from trump That will be a bombshell Alif. If that we should David Holmes the State Department official who was there in Kiev restaurant who heard the phone call. Who heard what song and said after the phone call is is going to be testifying at the end of the week after Sunland so That will be pretty gripping as well but let's get right to Our guest for for the day. Peter King Okay. We are here so now with Congressman Peter King of Long Island who just announced after fourteen terms. He's not going to be running for re election in Congressman. Welcome to skulduggery Michael Great to see you again. Good to be here so let's start out. Why are you leaving the house now? It was a tough decision mainly unle. It ended up being family anytime. Politician says `specially indicted or something some pictures going to appear basically. I'm not a big vacation occasion guy and I've been down here twenty years. You know. Twenty eight years four days a week and I spend most of my time children grandchildren and my daughter and my daughter-in-law two minutes my house. So that was a good part of my life and she found out in September she and her husband and the kids have to move to North Carolina and so and also also she was in politics. I was in politics. We used to conspire and collude together. And that sort of kept us going and I guess the tipping point came when when I was trying to make Christmas reservations to visit my grandchildren. I can't do it because we have no idea when we're getting out. It was December twelve minutes the twentieth dollars. Because you're going to be voting on impeachment peach mint and also the timing that to go to government shutdown in the twenty first. That's when the government's GONNA run out of funding. So I I mean that's no problem to anybody else and who cares. You can't get a plane ticket home. I figured after twenty eight years I should be able to go see my grandchildren so that just convinced me. It's going to be just more of that over the next three years because I I would expect here reelected next year so anyway just personal decision. I felt it's been more time. Have more freedom of movement. I am seventy five. Maybe seventy nine at the end of my next term but actually my wife is in good health so I wanted to take advantage of it and go on to great things. I'm not going to retire from the world of life and soon a get a job. Maybe several jobs see what I can do. Stay active so congressman. We're GONNA get to impeachment We just mentioned. I guess golf mentioned second ago but before just one follow up on this which is a lot of members of Congress when they retire. They say they want spend more time with their family. But some of them also say that they're leaving in part because of what's going on in Washington the partisanship that nasty tone and it's just not as fun and edifying as it used to be. Is that any part of your calculation for leaving now. No I really wasn't in being in the minority in either. I mean all these things you love to have an easy life down here where both parties love each other and we had a solid majority and they'd be champion of all these committees. He's no I To me just being here it was it was the majority or the minority. Obviously one is better than the other but both emigrate no. That wasn't I met I I never took any of this stuff that personally anyway. As far as whether some guy likes me doesn't like me or whether the yelling easier we can get more done if there was more tranquility but that was not a reason one of the reasons we WANNA talk to. You is because you are one of the few. Moderate Republicans left. At least. That's been your image over the years I'm sitting here in your office. I see pictures of Bill Clinton Richard Nixon George Bush Barack Obama. You're a guy who clearly has gotten along with and worked with people on all sides yet. We are in this polarized moment right now which a lot of people blame on president trump and see him as a exceedingly polarized figure. We want to understand because you have have defended the president on the Ukraine allegations. You've indicated you have no intention of voting for his impeachment or based on what. Yeah so I think we want to understand a little bit. You know how somebody with your moderate record has come down where where you have in defending president trump yeah and really is suspending. The constitution same reason. I voted against bill. Clinton's impeachment to me and this is really a traditionalist I Is the reason that we went from seventeen ninety two to one thousand nine hundred eight. That's what I'm used to track soon six years without having a successful impeachment and even then you still have your hat a success right. So He's Andrew Johnson in eighteen sixty six and then then. Yeah Yeah Bill Clinton. So it's two in over two hundred years and to me. This is the nuclear option. This is the death sentence to undoing election. Which really is the highlight of democracy is certainly an odd? Because we're not a parliamentary system. The country comes together. VOTRE president to undo that you need more than Dan Sexually Oval Office and you need more than a phone calls. I think was appropriate anyway but he is not a basic you really think the phone call was appropriate. It was okay to ask. Ask a foreign leader to launch an investigation of your political rival Joe Biden. I would make the argument that it was almost responsibility to do with the fact. That Biden is an opponent is SP secondary as president. If you'll giving aid to weigh a country which has been rooted in corruption and where there's been allegations especially energy companies being involved in corruption. And you have the fact that To make sure there is no corruption and you know there was significant evidence. When you have the vice president's son getting over a million dollars basically no show job where he has no experience energy no knowledge of Ukraine at the time when Joe Biden? It's supposed to be investigated. Listen we went almost three years investigating Russia and there was zero evidence of collusion. Everybody's that was appropriate and Hillary Clinton in using a bit of spy the phone information from Russian intelligence you have the FBI and the CIA abusing their powers on collusion. There wasn't on there was far more evidence of a Conduct with Joe Biden was Donald Trump. Right we'll let with Joe Biden himself former vice president did anything table acting in any way evidence. Further his son's interest as opposed to US national security interests and the foreign policy adopted did by the US government Donald Trump because President Obama refused to give weapons to Ukraine and Donald Trump. As we start with that now on this for instance if you other vice president in you know your son is getting a million dollars from a corrupt company in a corrupt country and your job is to root out corruption and you don't do anything about it and raises serious okay mismanaged. It should be investigated an error judgment may be for not do anything. But maybe words investigations but any evidence of wrongdoing by Vice President by the certainly the evidence of conflict of interest. And that's why have investigation find out. How far is that up to the Ukrainian government to invest show? This is a conflict of interest is of interest I by Biden because it's their company company. PRISMA was Ukrainian company. and to me..
