"And then Michalowski is thie men. My co host for the last couple of weeks. He's the deputy elections clerk, a county and just a couple quick calls for you, Edmund. And then maybe we'll ask you to join us tomorrow, too. Phyllis, What did you want to say? You're on w g. John. Thank you for thank you for all that you've been doing over this last month regarding the election, and Mr Michalowski for I'm coming on your show. My son works out of town. He had his bail. It may alter are addressed here at home. Hey, thought he'd be back to be able to fill it out. He was not able to get back home, so I have his ballot here. The back part, says votre assistance, and it says that if somebody is incapacitated and unable to fill it out that somebody else could spell it out for him and find that Always say he's physically able, so there's something wrong with him, but he's not physically here. Apply. Yeah, That's a good question. And for some people, it does. But talk about that, Edmund. So that that doesn't really speak to the capacity issue. Whether somebody can physically or physiologically managed the filling out the ballot filling out on someone's behalf, you know, based on an aural instruction Was not anticipated by that instruction. You're not supposed to do that. So then what's he supposed to do if he's out of town? What housing on the vote? He might not be able to see what it might not be able to. Yeah, the reality is that he may not be able to at this point. Okay. Thank you for clarifying. Appreciate it now. That's not going to keep her from saying Who do you want me to vote for? She fills in the squares. Then she forges his signature on the outside. I shouldn't be saying this out loud, but I'm I don't think I'm the first person to imagine this scenario. And she might imagine that that represents his signature in his intent, But you're not supposed to do that in my right, Edmund. Edmund. Edmund didn't wanna have anything to do with me now. Hold on. Says you are Edmund is my correct. You're not supposed to do that, right? Yes. You're not supposed to do event That's correct. Any last piece of information you wanna pass along to our listeners? Edmund before we talk to you tomorrow? Yeah, I think that if you're going to plan on dropping your ballot in a dropbox know that the only drop boxes open in suburban Cook are going to be the five suburban courthouses. The union station site and 69 West Washington. So police plan ahead. How many people did you say 391,000 votes have been received and that you guys were caught up? Is that correct? We're caught up on the mail ballots correct from everything that we've received yet. That's correct. Okay. Good luck to us All. Congratulations in advance. Sounds like you guys are managing it. Well, I appreciate your time, Edmund. Let's talk again tomorrow. Sounds good. Thank you very much. Edmund Michalowski. Very chic was on with our John Landeck or the other day they were talking about what to do for Thanksgiving. If you've been talking about this or thinking about this, it's not a pleasant topic for any of us. And Mary was sort of describing the logic that some of us are using, however tortured to justify US gathering in a group and Sheik had some advice to John Land Decker going without the mask of going through the bar. You know, it's an exception and well tomorrow it'll be a different exception. I love my people. I want to see the people I love. Doesn't that count for something? Yes, it does. But the sacrifice and this is what I came down to. The sacrifice is an investment in the future. Give up something now. So that we have more to give thanks for next year. As Mary Schmich might put it. You know who's really good at giving advice, though not that I disagree with that is Amy Dickinson, and she joins us on WG and radio. Hi, Amy. Welcome back. Hey, Hey, Thank you. Thank you down, boy. I marry my sister, You know? Yeah. I mean, I should so I love the way she put that I actually just yesterday. Put out the word the BB to my entire family. I'm not doing the holidays this year with a group and it's not because I mean, I'm fortunate. I live in a world area very, very healthy. You know, I I'm low low risk, I think. But I didn't want. I just wanted to put it out there that I didn't want people traveling that, um it's not happening and I agree with Mary. It's an investment in the future. I think so often. I lived in England for years, and I I got to know older people who had lived through the blitz, and I think so often about the 34 years. That they did that and I feel like we can handle this for receive in. We can That's also interesting to me because my family's a little torn about this. My mom asked me again yesterday if I was getting together with my adult son and his wife and we are And she felt left out because I'm not going to meet with her and my dad and the rest of my family. We had them meeting with them in a small group safely as possible, and that is it. I will go visit my parents. The rest of my family doesn't come And so it's not. We like them more than you, But it's a numbers game for us and my pad. Absolutely. And if you have formed something of a pod, you know you and I'll be with a very, very small group. It's not like I'm going to be alone. But, um and I understand. I mean, I'm a grand parent, you know, And I love my grandchildren and we did something. This summer. We allowed our grandchildren to come for their annual summer. Is it From out of state and they arrived and one of them arrived with a positive test result. We didn't know it until after they had gotten here and we spent three weeks Isolating with them. And honestly, it was a total blast. I'm not that was so full, hearty. It was just foolish, and it could've gotten a hell and it could have been a not a total blast. It could have been that you'll never want to see each other again. Absolutely. And so while I feel for parent, you know, I have five adult daughters. I feel like everybody's feelings are often at stake, even a normal times. But you know, your mother will have to handle her feelings. It's just the way it is. Well, that's something. I think we carve out a special exception for our senior citizen parents because We love them that they are more needy in some ways, And so we want to make an exception for them. Actually, they're the last people on earth. We should be making an exception for in this case. And and the damning thing or the maddening thing is that they are the ones that want us to break the rules, and they're the ones who really vulnerable. And John. I am I have fast approaching that that demographic. Um I have my birthday is this week I'm entering a new phase in a new phase of life late life like if you might call it late, Middle age early elderly but that that I am. And I hesitate saying this, but I have been shocked. At the level of the only word I have for it is selfishness I have seen displayed by some older people. Um, it made me pretty sad. Well, what about this, Dave? You wanted to say something You're on w g N. How are you all handling this, Dave? You're on the air. Great show. Guys go by my wife's nephews. They get their kids and everything in their power to coming back and everything then my $2. They said, No, we're not going over there and my wife got a heart problem. She's 60 years old. I'd be 61 November. 11th and A little about my oldest daughter. There won't be Five of us and maybe it's you know, a safety's more bed of my wife's. Gil will heart attack three years ago and she don't find out great. And safety's more because we were mad all the time. Everything would leave the house. My youngest daughter always said. Mass mass life ahead. What about what about this? Dave? Amy? What about if you said Okay, come over, but we're all going to wear masks indoors the whole time. Do you think of that? Amy? I think that an improvement But I also think that people don't wear their masks indoors all the time. Certainly if they're eating and given the weather, I mean where I am right now. We have a blizzard last night..
