"Good stuff coming out of K, Jack aka player reporter sponsored by Arctic. I it's time for the game plan. If you wanna wait a second. This is the players segment. Well, yeah. Reingage should be a former NFL player. He's now the current GM, and it's time for Mark Van Meter spend a few minutes with the GM of your team Houston Texans, riding Brian congratulations on eight in a row, but let's start here very emotional weekend and evening leading into the game. Obviously the game itself, but your thoughts on honoring Mr. McNair and just the whole evening going into it and living through it. Yeah. So first and foremost heartfelt condolences to the McNair family for their loss. Bob McNair was a special person special football, man. Just thanks and gratitude to have to work under him and dog known supportive of of bills in my vision of the type of football program that we want to build here fully supported that so much respect for how he. Lived his life his influence on so many so many people have approached me and actually thanked me the pass that onto the McNair family just being a citizen just being around the neighborhood and around town for bringing football back to Houston. I thought that was very touching. But he's influenced so many people and so many good ways done so much for the greater good of the city of Houston. Always admired his patience is grace. His intelligence his kindness. Very very genuine person. He was a great listener anytime Bill, and I had something to discuss as related to football matters. Here is Asian. He was wonderful listener and fully supportive of of the visions that we wanted to implement and he was a great family man to see him with with his kids and what his grandkids. It was neat to watch. And I think it hits everybody when you took the field, and you realize he wasn't going to be there on the sidelines before the game and that was a daunting equally for me. But I thought what better way to honor such a good man who is so supportive of the team any organization than finding a way to win versus division and convincing matter Brian you and Bill working together and cow as chairman Jaime Russa's president, it seems like you guys really have this thing down. I would say in terms of alignment your vision. You talked about that previously. But without Mr. McNair, Cal had said deficient goes on that he had for the franchise, and you talked about your. Vision for what's going on between the live. So you must feel good about that be. Yes. Absolutely. And I have great communication with cow. We we try to keep them fully informed on all the football decisions that we wanna make and Cal cows very supportive of those things that that we want to do so communication is key with any relationships. So we fully communicate with Cal. And we understand that that's a critical critical important important part succeeding and being philosophically aligned on on how we want to do it and being agreement on how we want to build football program football culture, the types of players that we wanna find and that type of environment that we want to build here. We want to create an environment conducive to winning and we can't do that without the support of the McNair family, and they've been wonderful in that regard the game itself you opened up. It's ten nothing before you know, it, but you able to get a lot of momentum going and the running game is working. So well for you lately that discipline in running the football seems to have been paying big dividends. Lately. We've ran the ball while well here. In recent weeks this past game. It goes the offense. When you go back and you look at the tape line tight ends even the receivers and the backs of work at the ball. I felt like it was a total team effort or eleven guys or ten guys on the offensive side of the ball minus the quarterback all participating in the success of the run game. There was one caveat though. I feel they are running backs fast runs. They got yards after contact. I got they got some of that hidden yard. And when they got to the second level, they were sure to get first downs. So I was happy because there was an inside outside run presidents. There was good balance as a related to that. We had some success on early down runs and some key moments where we had got to have it moments were able to to get some some chunk chunk runs as well. We have some explosive runs. So I felt like we kind of did a little bit of everything. And I run game. We had long runs. We have some short runs. We had some inside. Ron's. We got some outright outside runs. So those good balance in that regard interesting on defense to because Mario to has that completion streak going yet. They're not getting a whole lot done offensively. It was kind of a unique dynamic that way with their passing game. It'll stop there run, first and foremost, and I know they like to do that. Yeah. And that was a critical parts of the success of the game plan was knowing that they have a lot of success when they have the ability to run the football. Anytime you have the ability to run the football leaves the success in the play action pass game. What's lens to the strength of what Marcus mariota does? But the one place that I do point to was the red zone. I think we were all they were over two in the red zone as it relates to our red zone defense versus their red zone offense. Ause proud of our defense for stepping up in that moment, the fourth and one that was critical inside the plus ten the plus five air to come up with that stop in that moment that thought that was a critical point in the game show. Good mental toughness because they had been driving the ball. So I really point to the red zone defense that was a place of improvement that we had to get better at and we did that what are you seeing the development of DeShaun Watson here because in week two? You had that loss to the titans had the ball late. No timeouts very touchy situation. Trying to get into scoring range with that little tie. Had left, but he's handled those situations. So well lately including against the titans late in the first half that field goal drive was really well run by I think with each game that goes by you see him stacking experiences. You see him stacking? Some situational experiences in games. Whether if from behind planning with a lead managing down in distance scenarios that occur in the game. Certain circumstances and situations that occur in the game. So I think he's stacking experiences as it relates to situation management. So he's getting better every week at that football protection. He's been proving in that area. In terms of securing the ball making good decisions distributing to the ball the ball to the right players getting us into the right place. So a lot of progress being made, and we're happy about that. It's got to be satisfying. At least a relative to the first three games with various Thomas. You make the acquisition. He plays well against Denver Bill O'Brien blamed himself for not having any catches for Thomas and the Washington game. But against the Tennessee titans in his Houston, Texas debut. Hugh Thomas has two touchdown catches and clearly Watson. And he seemed have something going on to great plays into great catches by Damaris Thomas. Al also, there were two great throws that Sean made. So what I liked is what I like about the says he's got a different skill set perhaps than what what what Hopkins offers just hiked the length the buzzer catch radius. He can catch the contestant catch just like. Hopkins candle about the Maris's like those those two players that he caught there were some critical moments of the game. Like, we we had there were gotta have a place and came up in those situations in those circumstances in a big way. So we're proud about that. And we're hoping to see more good things like that in future touchy last week about the Andre Carter, but he continued to show up for you emerging as a real nice return man for you. And I know you had the fumble, but you overcame that by the recovery anti at the Fillon a wide receiver for you as well. So he's versatile. Yes. So what are you offers as he's a backup receiver force can play outside can play inside and be starting returner. But he can be a position player as well on top of being the returner. So you had to go in and do that here in the second half force critical catch to keep the drive alive to continue to burn the clock there in the return game. The one thing that stands out to me is he's decisive makes a decision and gets north and south is not as much in east and west runner relates to the return game. We like that there's some conviction. He's got good. Envisions got natural instincts. Feel the ball. He has enough quickness and speed can make the first man missed so he can gain yards off the block them all off on his own. So we're happy about his promise and potential. What are you seeing with the Cleveland Browns? Because if there was ever a situation where a record was irrelevant. This seems to be they're playing so well lately they look completely different than they did earlier in the seats. Yeah. They're going to be a handful, and we'll earn the right to win here Sunday. But what we do in preparation for next Sunday. So another team who's got some some level of of playoff hopes alive. And in terms of the games that are left here. But for us, you know, it's the month of December and the month of December is critically for critical for us because we feel that the best teams play their best football here in the month of December went three in the month. November was critically important to us. But now December starts, and it's time for us to start playing like like a team that that's in first place, and what we're planning for right now is the AFC south, and we're planning for an eight we're chasing the AFC south title, and we need to play with with conviction that way so we have a lot at stake here. Equally Cleveland is because. They're trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. So this is going to be a battle. I'm going to be a tough test for us. No doubt about that. Texans. Browns twelve o'clock right here at energy stadium. We will see you there, buddy. Thanks for participating thanks for listening. You are the best will see you on Sunday. And as always go, Texas..

"Of Bob McNair, who of course, was the owner of the Houston Texans, and the owner of stone side stable campaign many horses under that banner for many many years you had a bit of a relationship with him back in the day. Just talk about bad for a minute. Well, Mr. McNair, you know, was just an absolute legend in the game. And he'll Bobby Spalding who was his longtime manager John Asher his racing manager. You know, those guys back when I was consigning and selling horses back before my my time, it it Spencer. They were nice enough to let me sell some horses. Foreign not only Keeneland, but we also sold some forces for them when they were kinda dispersing some of their stuff down in Texas as well. We took some stuff down there to the Texas year. Let sale and got a chance with John Asher to go down and go to Texans game and go down on the field before the game in just you know, Mr. McNair couldn't have been more gracious to us, and my brother-in-law was able to go with the we just had a fantastic time down there. And you know, I hate that. He got out of the racing game. And you know, we sold his farm and shake Mohammad came in and bonded. And then just instant off of a lot of the mating stuff that Bobby in the guys who've done out of the form, you know, they had Breeders Cup success. And you know, I know he wanted to focus, you know, on the Texans, and you know, what a great franchisees done there and exciting times for them. And but Mr. McNair, you know, he'll certainly be missed and in just a guy that gave a lot of his time and money to a lot of causes. Yeah. Well, said Marc toothache or

"For two hundred and fifty five million dollars a piece. And now Nike is made billions off a Colin cabinet commemorating. Thirtieth anniversary of the just do it campaign. So guess what? It ain't bad for business. Now, what's your excuse. Now, what's your students. He the evergreen signing transcends him being employed by the NFL. You don't want it also does. It also shows everybody in the NFL in on the same page when it comes to college cabinet. It also buffers, Colin cabinets case because of air agree can find a job particularly considering the plethora of safeties that actually exist in the NFL. And I'm not saying that they aren't some scrubs up in there. But the bottom line is there's more scrubs at the quarterback position than they are safety positions. So why would it Colin cabinet Cava job which buffers his argument about collusion being exercised against them and remember what collusion is all about. Ladies and gentlemen, it's very, very important. It doesn't have to be a Qadri of owners communicating with one another throughout the league. All it takes a couple of people. If colleague, cabinet, compute improve via emails, text messages, or whatever the case may be that there was actual communication about him amongst a couple of owners. That's all he needs to prove collusion. This is a big day. This is a huge day because the National Football League is in a world of trouble. Now, this is a step in the right direction, make no mistake about it, and I'm not talking about the league office when I'm talking about the National Football League. I'm talking about some owners getting exposed and not just because of their business acumen or lack thereof, or commitment to the bottom line and nothing else, which means they're probably a moral as opposed to moral or immoral. It might be flat out prejudice. And it might Trent and it might. Be transitioning along state lines. It's not an accident to me. That the two most outspoken owners against Colin capital happened to both becoming from the state of Texas. That's why I'm challenging the state of Texas stand up and make sure your voice is heard. And make sure that it's not Jerry Jones. Mr. McNair speaking for you and I'm not accusing anybody of being prejudiced. I'm talking optics. I'm talking about how something looks. We get to pay attention to that, particularly in this day and age. The particularly with the metoo movement, which has nothing to do with Colin cabinet by the way and beyond. How things look evidently matters. It of how things look, evidently matter then how does all of this look right now? Colin capital is making money for Nike hockey can't make money for the national football. The who the hell said endorsing Colin cabinet supporting Colin Kaepernick is going to be bad for business. Where's the proof? Where's the proof?.

"He shows you in over the many years. I've done this show here on the other network. We've done many, many race discussions, and I've talked to many, many black men and women sitting across from me at this table about race issues in the one thing I've always heard back is that the the black debaters on the other side of the table, appreciate the most when the racism is more overt than covert, overt, you can. You know why. Got you, right? All I can deal with that because I, I see exactly who you often movement where you're well, that's what Jerry is. He's just this. Is it my way or the highway? Right? So he is put the ball in his players court, and it's very interesting because so far Dak Prescott is the quarterback of the Dallas. Cowboys has toed that bottom line that white line. He's put his toes right in line because he said, from the start, I stand for the national, right? So there's no pushback, no blow back from the locker room just yet. But once again, this is who it's just it's like laying down the gauntlet to his locker room. This is checks, and if you don't like it, you can go somewhere where, right. And the thing is, is that what they see from Jerry? See, maybe a lot of people didn't know. But President Trump's talked Jerry Jerry out of time, especially after the issue that happened last year. So Jerry said, we're gonna show support, but nationality, they know. Really Jerry you were President Trump now with, you know, I, I don't know if they're friends, but it sounds like they're friendly at least. Right? The mere fact. He's not calling all the owner of the ninety. I don't think there's only a handful. We know he probably calls Mr. McNair, Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones, maybe and Robert Kraft is a friend, a friend for little writing his. So with that with that being said, skip, Jerry does not care. Give said it. We just want this issue to go away with the players that are kneeling. They won't racism. They won't social Justice reform. You can help speed. This process of the guys said, you know what? Jerry just give us some of your support. Give us some of your context. The lanzi Graham there, Marco Rubio the Grassley, all these power percents senators, deca get just a reform on the book because you know, you go sit down there and you do little photo. They take a pitch. No, no, no, no, no, no. We want you to move this thing up to chain. We want you to get something on the book that we can see that that our effort and hard work was not wasting. Jerry can do that. These powerful owners can do that..
