Because then when was the last time you bought a paper? I well, you part of the reason you don't buy one is because there's nothing much there anymore. Gets thin. I read that I subscribe to the Tribune. No, I don't get a physical paper. I subscribe to the digital paper and I read stories from it every day. I read stories from both the online and the physical paper. I get it. I go pick it up off the porch and is thin and awful as it is, there's there's usually something in there. That's that. First of all, they don't have online for some reason. The thing I miss about the thing that's different about me, isn't it? It's funny if you know when you're reading the paper. "A dot dot dot. I'm a queer person and I am young and I want to taste the spice of life like and get my kicks while. I'm still young enough to get them. I don't want to live with regrets but at the same time I really I do I do I would love to. I'm I'm not going to be running into another huge relationship right now. I mean if it comes what can you say. You don't really have when it comes right like I wish I could be like in three months. I'd like to lead this bird but You're not seeking it out. No no right. Now I'm not opposed to it But unfortunately this was. I just closed a really serious chapter. Mr Life and I really it was one of the most in it was one of the best things that ever happened to me. And it taught me so much about got myself about the stuff that kind of I need to work on and it taught me a lot about about what's important like maybe I thought a couple of things are important and until I really once you live with somebody and you're both financially tied and like you know he really. He supported me when I had nothing I moved in with him. Is He really scooped me up from the gutter and believed in me and with that gave an gave me confidence because I knew that if nothing else at the end of the day I was I had him and I had this partnership that we had and so I was going to be okay regardless stewardess waitress. Whatever I was going to be like I was going to be okay because we have you know we're just we? I love going to gigs. That was the best part. I love concerts. I love like music anybody's playing I'm going and they were like that to me me so we went to gigs all the time. And so that's something that I really miss But going forward you know in a relationship I would I I would really I would I would. I'm going to be looking for somebody. Who has their own lane and has their own path and is very dedicated dedicated to that and worked hard? Because you know I think that's important And I would love us to have our separate kind of lanes in terms of our work work or whatever we're doing and that we also have what we share together I think that that's important I. It's almost I think this is a line from like that book. The prophet where it's like. We should drink the same wine but we both have our own glass. We will share the same bread. But we're going to cut it in half because if you share the same Brennan we're just taken by life for bite. Someone's going to get more going to get less so we share the bread but we each have our own piece. We drink the wine but we each have our own glass and I think that is kind of what I'm going to be looking for going forward. You know watching the show were Hayes. Dating Life is something that I've never seen seen on. TV You know that this is A an out gay guy who is. Who's doing drag and drag a huge part of his life? And and and I and I think the show touches on it but it's also very contemporary in that the fact that whore hey is also a drag queen is not a hindrance grants to. Isn't that dating. Which I think that's I hope I please don't please don't take this wrong way? Folks like please. Dm Me and say. I'm horrible. Like I I'm saying this with complete respect but I really believe that. That's a new turning point that we're in right now because when I was growing up if you were a drag queen or if you did drag like the slim pickens. Nobody wanted to say we. They always wanted to cheer you on from the stage but no one wanted to be with that person or at least a lot of people. Did I mean granted. I can only speak for myself but it was tough for an eye as an effeminate gay boy or a choirboy that I was growing up in a lot of different identities and a lot of different different looks and when I was growing up. If you weren't straight passing like if you weren't trade you're single like the gay boys wanted to be with the Polo wearing sweat shirt like it could work. But we're not that kind and I was the kind of gay that was not to be gay. Hey but you don't have to fall on it and I'm like why not. I mean look at these. They flaunt their machismo celebrated for their for their for their sportsmanship for there. Her and there are celebrated for their familiarity or their beauty or there. Were you know how they're the fashion. Why can't we and so? I spent my entire entire highschool drivers alone. I was a load no one wanted to. And so then I had moments of China code switch and like I was going if I was itching for a kiss on the dance floor like maybe wear you know. Maybe the you know the tim's with a bag years definitely warm facial hair and it wasn't until It wasn't until like I was out of school like it was out of college because I remember even college I went to a very queer school. Marymount fair amount. I know but Even in school like I never really had those experiences. The that the other boys were having I was really goal oriented. It and I was always pursuing and very confident. I'm very confident but I'm also like I'm I'm complicated like I'm really shy and nervous and cry all the time at home alone not in public around podcast cast and I'm just but I don't let that get in my weight like I'm very confident and I'm afraid sometimes that may come across as arrogant I don't mean it to be the arrogance but I believe talent and I believe in what I have to bring to the table and I'm not scared if you also have something to bring the table. I don't know why has to be either. Why can't Oh? Oh the Dave coates like Sondheim said does it have to be or can not be and you know I got my stuff going on. Says you stop stop going on. I'm not competing with competing with me. Like you. Get it fabulous. I get it cheer for me. You know like why does it always always seems you know in college competition thing so not only was I like to gay fam- skinny Ladyboy for the gay boys but also like there was this. There's competition feeling that. So they never really let me me in so I just completely withdrew and just was like really serious about work and stuff. So it wasn't an after school. Things started changing suddenly crop. Top Sir like acceptable label and sexy. Now which is awesome and all the things that you were probably warned about the thought they had your best interest in mind about not not like limiting yourself as an actor ended up serving you later and don't get me wrong. I listened for a while like I. I tried to be the neutral in my interviews. I tried to be neutral in my dressing because I wanted to be a canvas. I really wanted to be an actor. A character actor as my my my passion to transform and I think the probably the most transformative character ever played was Angelique on dreadful because that was just a complete I in my head I was playing woman So everything from my is moving to my voice to my body. Everything was where I worked on And people said well if you do stuff that you're never going to be anything else if I don't do it then I'm just going to sit here waiting for the rose to come my way you know whatever. And then they say things like well you know you're probably GONNA be pigeonholed and this is what you're going to do for the rest of your career and I sat with that for a while. Then I thought to myself If I get get to play fully fleshed out queer characters with with a pension for feminity and drag guy okay. I think like if I can go to work and do this for. I think I'll be okay. Do I want to do other things absolutely. I've got dreams. I've got hopes you you know I. Someday I'd really love to play Lorca. He's really an idol for me just plant transcended Spanish playwright For those of you don't know he's known for a trilogy which was actually trilogy but like postmortem Israeli Blood Wedding Yerma and the House of better now than Alibaba. It's amazing Spanish. Nice plays about Spain and it's because he's from Spain and it was a misdemeanor so I love to play him someday. I'd love to play Vampires like I'd love to play. I love to do anything. But if that's not allotted me and I still can do this. Says I'm just fine. Your US saying give a bit of glitter. I don't know if I can say. Can we say glitter on the And I'm fine. I mean you can't you can do whatever you WANNA do. But I'm not GonNa let that stuff get in my way because You never know I mean look at look. We got corona going on. Now we've got and possibly World War three. You know. Think Shit happens every day so I'm going to do every day happy. And if I'm doing this show or if I get to play play a fleshed out from not a token amen and I don't think you have to worry about. I think eighty keen is going to run for decades. Well here's his hoping I would love that syndication check. I mean when we all right Johnny thank you so much. Thank you guys so much this is is the most vulnerable. I think I've ever been in an interview and so that's lake kind of I don't know they probably like leave here and be like Shh. What did I just WANNA say? Thank you guys so much for having me just like. I don't think it's a pretty good space here and we've got some good hosts so Thank you guys. Thank you so much coach. Buy Buy out there in. "And so I call this wife Susan and I said, so what you know what's going on with Philip? And, and she said, well, he's now he's at home, now he's has to, he's living in this assisted care situation. And I said, we'll blue so I started thinking, well, I don't think he's going to remember me, but maybe I should go visit him. He's in Kansas City, and bring some pictures and sit down with him. And she's like he can't. Talk. He does he cannot speak. He can't take care of himself. He can't clean himself. He can't go to the bathroom, or does it just just this crazy? Severe dementia that just set in and it's like, is it our Ganic though? Yeah. And it's like what the prognosis and it's like there's nothing. He's, he's supposed to died, six months ago, and he's still alive. Sorry. Is she about his age? I mean she. Try to keep it together. She younger. In. Hits. To this. He was just such a he's such a guy life or, and I hadn't seen him you know. So it's like he he was over at my house, where eating sushi. You know, he was going on cruise ships and performing and doing everything and. And now it's like he doesn't talk. He doesn't walk. He doesn't do anything he's, you know, he's, he's a vegetable basically, and I said, we'll what's, what's the deal while he supposed to be dead? But now they think maybe he's going to go on, but there's no long-term anything. He's just no. He wouldn't be able to communicate and his, his. His wife has such a great spirit. I'm like, wow, because she had to take care of him. And she's like, I'm just thankful for the years that we had. She not better. She's not upset, she's not cursing, God or anyone else, she's just like I'm so thankful that he came into my life. And that's not got what, what woman, I mean, and it made me think, you know, we all should adopt that, I mean, we all should, you know, they she's like we had fifteen great years together. I wouldn't trade it for anything I, thank God that he came into my life, and that's where I'm at with it. And I was like, wow. Wow. So try to get out and see him. But there's you know, there's he's not gonna know me obviously, he's not going to be able to communicate with me, but. I was sort of prepared for him not being able to remember me, you know, but I didn't know he was completely this just, just gone. And it's really it's worse than being gone because this could go on for, for ten years, you know, of just complete nothing just, you know, she doesn't want that either, but. It's so weird because I was out of touch, and they weren't able to get hold of me, and I was not able to get these little incremental incremental updates. It was so it was. So sudden for me. I've like you know, he was, you know, you know Mr. life of the party mister, good good-looking Misteri. He wasn't an accountant for law firm. And I and I, I'm marveled at his life and what he did travel and they got. Oh, go see him in Las Vegas. Go open for Andy. Johnny Mathis, and he'd take me backstage take picture, Johnny man and all this. And then certain point I got more much more successful than he did. But he always just enjoyed it. Like he he wasn't. He never held a grudge or was like, you know, some people get catty about, you know, I was here. I you know, I did now you've passed me and now we're not talking anymore..

"Denise she's cracking me up. I'm so glad she's on this show. She's so good does nothing. But she's so good. And for those of you who are like, how dare you? Call her trailer park. She was hanging out with miss. Vicki gumbleton this weekend. So don't argue with me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And half these women are about to go on a trip on an RV. Anyway, so enough. "Of the same story. The novel was an effort to help restore the cathedral back then. So as restorations began again after this week's fire, we've called writer and film critic Andrew leap in good morning. Good morning. What does that mean that the novel was part of an effort to restore the cathedral? So Victor, Hugo writes, The Hunchback of Notre down in eighteen thirty one the cathedral by this point is in a state of neglect and disrepair still recovering from the French revolution. Just a few decades earlier, and he really wants to be basically a celebrity advocate for gothic preservation, and he really wants this architecture to be restored for future generations when I talked to Katherine Clark, who's a professor of French history at MIT. She told me that Victor, Hugo writes this novel as an outcry to try to bring the state of Notre Dame to state attention and public attention and alert everyone that this architectural heritage is falling apart that it work. It did work. Very well. The book is enormously popular people really thrill to the story of Quasimodo as a bell ringer who lives in the in the tower, but is also a metaphor for the tower itself, the stories deep human, and there is a major restoration effort that takes place. After the book's publication amazed. To hear you talk about the belltower because part of the story of the fire this week, which we've heard elsewhere on. Today's program is firefighters going up into the bell towers risking their lives for this building. And according to officials saving the building from much worse damage may be heading it off within a very brief period of time. What do you think about when you you you bring your literary background to that story of this week? What I think about is how this novel and the later that arose from it really continues to be this touchstone for so many people in terms of their relationship with Notre done. You know is asking people on Twitter to share some their memories of the cathedral. And I was hearing from people saying, well, I remember reading this book and identifying with Quasimodo and visiting the cathedral or sitting at the Shakespeare Company bookstore just across the Senate from the cathedral. So you see even today continues to be something that people really attached to identify with. And every time people hear the bells of Notre dumb. I gather that you know, a large number of them are probably thinking about Quasimodo. Do you think that is part of the reason that this fire seems to have touched so many hearts, even though no one was killed? I think it's definitely a big part of the reason, you know, people really attached to narratives, and obviously the cultural history of Notre Dame can't be overstated. But like, this is a building that has been through many cycles of disrepair, and and rebuilding and Victor Hugo's spurred on one of those cycles nearly two hundred years ago, and it looks like we're entering another cycle. No. Did you think about Quasimodo when you heard the news? I did I thought about a lot of things, but that was definitely one of the things that that came to my mind, as I'm sure a lot of people at my age attached to the the Disney version of the movie, and then the subsequent stage musicals and the earlier adaptations, and I think Quasimodo and Notre Don depote as a whole are are intertwined in a lot of people's minds, Mr. life, and thanks so much. Thank you. That's writer.

"So basically i just went into student mode for six months and i i mean i've always in student mode like i'm always i'm always reading a more staying up to date of course but i've never went through such an intensive period of learning mr life because i needed to know everything like literally everett like psychology all the way to like what my generation is what like all of these things and it really just clicked it made sense so i i went to that learning period i started building my personal brad so being the first person to publish an article about general your generations eat start start coining certain terms like quoting certain research like getting my name out there building my personal brand cameron said something the other day and i'm like why are you introduced me to people he's like because you're easily referral so now i'm kind of picture and myself as like how can i make myself as refer bowls possible so over delivering may billing my personal bran executing on certain things so i i really think i just got in the boardrooms from just not being a shitty person and bring he real value people because i really feel like everyone in general just over analyzes what they have to do in marketing i think marketing if so easy and simple and it's not just marketing its decisions period so i never really overanalyse anything i just made it extremely simple i ask for what i want it because you're not going to be something unless you ask for it and um and did that did that as well some of the some of the companies that i've worked with our who's sweet sprints the npd group agencies and way we've got a lot of stuff in the works said i'm going to be excited talk about but i can't talk about some of the companies right now because i don't really know what i'm a less than what am not no worries no worries so you're in a meeting with sprint.
