"And welcome back to the show. Twenty nineteen is almost over. There sure were a lot of video gained. It's time to talk about them. My name is Kirk. Hamilton and I am joined by my talk in buddies. I talking buddy is maddy. Myers Hello Matty hello happy to be here. Fellow fellow buddy ready to do some and we're also talking with Mr Jason Schreier. Hello Jason Schreier. Hello talk here for talk. Talk Talk Talk To. Let's let's go over a couple of Jessica things real quick so this week we are doing part one of our games of the year and that is to say all of the Games we have played need this year which is what we always do instead of just picking games of air. It's more interesting to go over everything. And at the end of this episode we will be doing a spoiler cast the briefs by their cast watchman ended and as we promised So that's part one is gonNA air today and part two is going to hear next week the normal time and and then we will also be doing a bonus episode about the latest Star Wars. On Monday we will all have seen it by then and we will spoil the hell out of it and just talk about star wars very exam Eh. We are going to see a week. We are taking a little break through January. First New Year's Eve Week New Year's Day Week and then we will be back the following week to talk about our predictions from twenty nineteen and then go over predictions for twenty twenty. So that's the schedule for the next few weeks. I confess something to you guys. I don't even I don't. I don't remember any predictions that we made this year. I remember like I remember matty Made Lake just tons of easy ones. So she's battling it. I remember making things that I was so certain would happen. That didn't happen but whatever that's about episode. I cited time money because they don't remember I'm looking forward to hearing about it. And as we approached at the end of the year we should say. Just that. If you guys have if those of you listening out their feedback or thoughts or want to reach us for whatever reason and you can always reach us at split-screen TACO DOT COM. Hit US up anytime we try to read everything that comes into that mailbox so without further Do Do you guys want to start getting into it. Here's what we're GONNA do. WE'RE GONNA go month by month Loose chronological order and we have a giant list of games that the the three of us have played. We will not be covering every single game that came out this year but I think between the three of us we have a good chunk of the Games a good a good percentage of good slice awesome And Yeah we'll just be talking about kind of general thoughts and impressions and talking about the standard one so if those of you out there missing games this year or looking for new gems to play. This is a good episode to listen to follow by its partner next week. So shall we start so January. Jamie do this. This January so January two thousand nineteen Starting with slay the spire today either replaced play the spire. There was just me just you I think just you so I play the game on switch. I played it for probably twenty minutes before I realized that even though lots of people we're really really into it it is not for me at all because it combines two things well it combines one thing I really like which is card games that I really don't like which which is rogue likes dogs Pasta. I like both of those sorry dogs in the I say before I interrupted you. Say what say what the things are that you like. And don't like for real listening to everybody feels valued combines. One thing. I like card games with. I don't like rogue lakes so because it's procedurally generated you don't really. We have the same. Like the like handcrafted game that I would enjoy more so was not really into that one. Even though I appreciate it and know why let's people love it and obsess over that game next. We have the Hong Kong massacre. What is that? I played that neither of you played that game is that It's like a hotline Miami. Ish Game but with better graphics is kind of how I describe it. It's very you know the sort of John Hong Kong Action Movie vibe. The top down fast moving. The twin stick right played with a mouse clicking chew people and they die released spectacularly and if they want to die and you start to level over and it's like really little levels it's extremely hotline Miami influenced is it bird's eye view street top down. Yeah so we just massacring people in Hong Kong title is accurate. I can confirm the title of cheese. I didn't play a COP. Your massacring lake bad news. It's not it's not fucking hatred But at the same time that is actually was kind of my issue with it. Left me a little cold. I played a bit slow mechanic. That's cool like as a gameplay mechanic doc. It's so echoed hotline Miami but the thing that made hotline Miami. So great was that it was also this you know hidden sort of critique give itself and it had this metal layer and it's really clever and sort of mysterious injury win right until it pulled the rug out from under you and it was like look what you've been fucking doing this whole time and they have that at all. There's this crucial difference where you beat the level in this game and it gives you a high score when you beat the level hotline Miami. Remember you'd have to walk back out that the whole big thing so you'd walk past all these dead horrible ripped apart mangled bodies and leave and it was like silent like there was no music and suddenly repulsing. Tantric went away and over time. You're like it was making you reflect on what you've just done and that was clever clever thing and this game doesn't do that at all. It's just like you did just like you die. This many times like high score Iraq go kill some more bad guys so I was like. Oh I have done this. I played hotline. Miami played enough of this so wasn't left me little call but I can see see why people would like it if you just want to shoot people in the video game I feel like there are plenty of what got you got some options. If if you like shooting people and next up we have the one and only kingdom hearts three a game. That really got snubbed. This year in awards awards came around not a lot of lists you. Yeah I knew that. At the time it was truly specific parts kmarts one like when that and even to those came they were considered critical darlings. Like the best of the year quality I think squaring X.'s screener and ability to make games has not kept up with the Times. Um I mean that's something you could think if you didn't like kingdom hearts three but I liked it I I liked it I also before I played it I had re watched all the cutting compilations of kingdom hearts one and two and all the other billions of weird kingdom hearts games that almost no one has played and the Games have this very strange stilted tone which Jason Dislikes and makes fun of which many people just like to make fun of it which I find. Deeply endearing endearing in its weirdness and kingdom hearts three. Has that same exact same tone that really weird dialogue and I don't know why I like it. You either love it or you hate it. I really think that makes or breaks the game for you whether or not you happen to lake. It's tone it's very sappy. It's very feel good in certain way is a lot of things characters. Say don't make any sense. But they they have a sort of emotional truth or wait to them that could resonate with you or at least does does with me so I actually feel like three if fits in with the rest of the Kingdom Hearts Games and anybody who doesn't think that just has a memory of kingdom hearts to playing lying it as a child and that's fair that's totally reasonable. I don't I don't thinking departs grew up at all. I think it's three feels like it has not changed and that that's stronger. That sounds like that's what you're saying. which is kind of interesting like a lot of times? A sequel after a long time reimagined things or like freshest things up for a modern audience or whatever and this we're greedy exactly gritty reboot and it's called the kingdom hearts and it's all about whatever play that sure but this very much like I think I didn't play it but it looks like A. PS Two game or something they got has that. Yeah so it's more like this is very true to kingdom which is itself a feet. It's just that by doing that. You're being true to a game that's kind of dated and also like you said totally in. Its Own universe so that kind of makes sense that it it very much resonated with kingdom hearts fans but kind of like the specific subsection of Kingdom hearts fans. There's certainly fans like you Jason. Who really liked the second one and who didn't necessarily stay tapped into the phantom years? And we're like I want this game to recapture the magic that I felt as when I was younger and I played kingdom hearts to and it feels really weird to me now dated and strange and childlike. And I don't know that was an interesting conversation. Watch unfold as well. As just the ways that the media landscape is changed since Kingdom Hearts Disney as and everything and cross franchising using media properties is totally normal in ways that it wasn't when kingdom hearts first came out like at the time that was groundbreaking. And now it's like okay like who who cares like all media is already already and everything and we're sort of all sickened by now so that's another thing that I think the game didn't have going for it. That sickness of business at this point. Yeah that's a good point. I think if you had told me in two thousand six like there's GonNa be toy story world in kingdom hearts. I would've flipped the shit but now it just doesn't feel like as much of a special property anymore because of like events like the avengers and like four nights sticking everything in it and all this other like cross media it just happens. It's too much now and it was special back then but not so much anymore. The idea like my final fantasy characters interacting with Disney characters. That was so cool back then but no longer plot. It's still cool.

"Everyone we're so glad that you're here with us. My name is Kirk Hamilton. Lyndon I'm joined by my co hosts first of all Mr Jason Schreier. Hello Jason Allo. Hello Hello Hello and Jason. I are also joined by Maddie Meyers. Hello matty hello. It's new. It is low. Are you guys ready for my favorite holiday of the year every single year thanksgiving. Yeah boxing. This thanksgiving yeah. It's it's my favorite just gluttony the football on TV the cold fall air. Beautiful Fall of it. I just love Thanksgiving Yeah Yeah it's This is a fun one. So we're recording this. A little bit earlier doing Thanksgiving mailbag mostly going to answer some listener questions and read some listener emails else for this week's episode so if any major news happened this leaf we should probably talk of living in the state of blissful ignorance and But I just want to tell a real quick real quick baby story I So this morning I had to take our kids to the pediatrician. For her. Two month checkup she gets checkups. That there's a one checkup two months. Four months it's an exponential logarithmic. An adult and you just never go to in the limit approaches zero algorithm. So yes so. I took her to the checkup. And this is a big Gwan because she has to get shots and so we were like like like Loathing we were dreading this experience of having to get our tiny. Give our tiny four to two two month old shots And our baby rarely cries which we are lucky. She cries a fair amount when she's hungry but that's pretty much. The only reason shall ever ever cry butts turns out when you give a baby a shot. They cried so here's what you do. What do you have to do? Is You actually the whole of the kid and so the doctor was like here. You take are and so I- held her and then to look away while the doctor injected three different shots so the first one went into one of arms and she says she did the injection and the baby be like didn't seem to mind that much give a little bit of a cry but like wasn't so bad And I was like Oh okay like maybe. This'll be easy. That was easy right. The doctor goes just wait and then she turns to the second arm and injects the needle in the second arm and I just hear the most is horrifying sound like wail starts coming out of my kid. WHO's in my arm? Her face turns bright red. And she's going eh vying like gut wrenching sound And then the doctors to do a third in her leg which led to an equal amount of crying and then afterwards it's babies are so funny because they really do sometimes have just like adult expressions on their faces and so my kid often when she's hungry and not being paid attention to you or when when she's just gotten a shot we'll just have this look of anger on her face. She'll she'll just like have like furrowed eyebrows and like pouty face and it will so cloud over. Yeah it's so funny like yeah enemy enemy anger face Right so she had that and then she quickly got over it. I guess babies don't really remember things like that but man tough experience having the hold your kid while while she gets shy had to. I had to get a flu shot last week and it was pretty similar could someone I reacted acted similarly the flu shots and a joke. That shit may my arm sore for like a week after my arm was orbits orbits a better than having the flu. I always that is for sure Okay let's get to it actually before we take some questions Why don't we talk a little bit more? We're about star wars because Kirk you and I both finished jet I follow murder and Mattie you have played it so I want to kind of put the cap up on our discussion last week and see if you have any more thoughts for so ask you Kirk if you have any other Thoughts or final thoughts about the game. Now that you've actually seen the ending and finish it all yeah. I think it's really good. I thought that the ending of the game like the back. Third of the story was much stronger than I was expecting. It ends really well. Obviously I won't say anything particular Mattie but I think we had talked about this some last week that it's a little bit of his star it feels like a star wars just a mix of sort of generic star wars stuff at the beginning a little bit the patio on and like lost guy looking for his master all of the kind of tropes about the forest but the back third was great. There was some surprising stuff and I just thought there are a lot of set. Pieces is in narrative sequences. That weren't really comment. Heavier exploration heavy. It was just you know these narrative things that would happen visions and stuff like that and it was cool. It really was so well done. There was a lot of cool creativity. Some nice surprises. Yeah I was much more into the back third and I thought it kind of it kind of sagged a little a little bit. I guess maybe the third quarter of the story this kind of when you're on death Amir for the story. This is a good point. Okay this feels a little bit like someone designed all this stuff and they needed to figure out a narrative justification for this slight detour. But whenever I'm sure if I hadn't had to replay the first half of the game the pacing so it's it's hard totally get my head around that but yeah I liked it. I liked the ending. I like the story. I actually thought it was perfect. Length the whole game in general. If that have been a little bit longer it would have been pissed I but yeah obviously European was very different. So it's It's like so many hours twenty something like that. Might make in game by like steam clock said thirty-something hours but I left it either and that was a lot of time Yeah I would say like around fifteen twenty hours I saw one reviewer be like short and sweet now this is just short and I kind of wanted to smack them because this is a perfect length of reader reader linked us that Polygon Article About Twenty Twenty Hour Games. That was the outer worlds which I didn't finish together as also twenty hours. Yeah Control and outer walls and this like there were a lot of games that are kind of that link. It's not a bad link long you've got to commit to it but it's not you know forty hours sixty hours so yeah and then I think if if a game is GonNa be like a hundred hours it needs to be special needs to be justify quality to justify that Yeah so I have a couple of thoughts Like I said the the lane five thought was perfect perfect. The ending was so delightful. Just like the final sequence and and everything at the end is just as awful and I just feel like it's a really really good mixture of all these tropes and ideas ideas from other games and it'll just blend together really well. It just feels like that. That holy Grail of Star Wars game that people have just wanted for a really long time and like I said last week. I'm excited needed to see what kind of innovations they bring to the sequel We didn't really talk about this last week. But I think that like The exploration they want you to go back in revisit planets and I did actually on your recommendation Kirk go back and revisit one of the planets but I find kind of a chore for a couple of reasons to do that and I don't enjoy it in the same way that I would like another type of metro-wide Vania and I think there's a couple reasons for that. I think number one first and foremost is the lack of decent rewards and the fact act. There's no real incentive In the game to go back you don't get items and the interesting items. You don't get Rewarding abilities that are optional. Oh you don't get any super challenging sites that you can only find by revisiting areas anything like that. There are a few optional bosses. But they're all really obvious defined defined throughout route your normal progress of the game and I think that the game I mean you can get like like forced buffs and stems and stuff like that. But it's not there's nothing really special. Aw there and I think the game suffers a lot for that The fact that every single chest you find is always going to be a cosmetic item which to someone like me is just like who gives a shit about that's up and Yeah I just think that a game like this. A Metro Vania really needs that carrot in order to encourage you and and make you feel like it's worth it to go explore And I did enjoy Kirk. I I went to that crash ship. The you recommend it. I find that actually in the game you kind of prodded to go explore it and it it was really cool but at the end when it was like okay the big reward is like three ponchos and impact. That kind of is feels lame. Like I just wish it's been and something else some other cool ability or I almost could've done without the skill tree in the game and just like had all of that stuff on the powers and abilities been stuff you find you know what I mean. Yeah but that wouldn't really make any sense for you. Being Jeddah taste creating I would have liked to see the game. Yeah I agree with correct. I mean that's what's cool about metro is that you go back to the same places but you actually have to go back to the same places in order to achieve something more there in this game just isn't really set up that way and that would be cool if it were but yeah I mean in Metro does do the thing were there are cool. Lake Hidden Puzzles that. When you saw them you get like a health off canister which is the same kind of thing? Yeah Yeah Yeah. It's an upgrade but just sort of a generic upgrade not a specific unique ability. I don't know I mean I guess you're saying Jason but thoughts on that so first of all so I actually a more a better comparison for that would be Zelda's heart pieces because they're similar or to this and the game where you have to find three of the force thing to get a health upgrade or whatever One thing and this might sound Kinda pedantic and trivial but I actually think it makes a big difference The way that the force like pieces and the life pieces are shown on the screen they look just like the echoes. You find. They're just like blue balls and they don't have a distinguished luck like they don't really look like a cool thing that you find the way that like a piece of heart does and the Celta game and I think that kind of makes a big difference. It's not as exciting exciting to go and find this blue blob of whatever as it would be defined something that looks like distinguished and interesting and just like I don't know look cooler played cooler sound effect stuff made that things make a big difference. Yeah totally yeah I think I mean so I get what you're saying saying though I think that that they had a balancing act and this is sort of the same thing. We were talking about on twitter last week like if they changed the game to have all these unique things. You would unlock the way that in dark souls you could maybe find signed a unique sword somewhere if you go and explore something like because there's a whole complicated loot and stat system in that game that works. They're kind of in a bind because there around that many things they can put at the end of those Optional areas. And I think like the one that we were talking about. Yeah the crashed ship on. Xenophobes anybody playing You if you once you get double jump go check. Check out that crash because it's really cool for me..

"Stranding Maddie and I both played a healthy chunk of Cogema's latest and she and I both like despite Jason's skepticism. We talk about the good the bad and the just plain weird of the oddball backpacking reversal game. From bridge babies to delivery delivery addicts deductor mads Mikkelsen. We also talk some about last week's blizzard con as well as the predictably delightful Louise's mentioned three and close out with some off topic. Talk Gardner minhsiu trick. Mirror for in Jordan peels US along with Elvis tastic music. Pick of the week stick around. It's going to be a fun one. Welcome back to the show. We're so glad as always that you have joined us. My name is Kirk Hamilton and I am joined by my two lovely co hosts Mr Jason Schreier. Hello Jason Low Kirk and Jason. I are also joined by Maddie Meyers. Hello matty hello. Hello Kirk and Jason. When I see both yet another week here we are here? We are here just a little tired tired just a little rain but here we are once again to talk about expenditure. It's been a couple of weeks so did I say fun. We're drained because of how fun it is drained laps a minute over here. It feels like we've been carrying boxes across the hines and deserts and Karake Mountains Jason. You're ruining the metaphor that I was planning on introducing a little later in the show I really thought about so. Please allow me the space S. attacked out and elaborate analogy between. I hope it's not settled because if anyone is not into take a director real quick before we jump into some video game talk. Should we talk a little bit about what's been happening because it's been extremely public. The story love our company with US Week and since the last time we recorded deadspin has become no more the staff of debts first of the staff of deadspin quit it then the editorial director took over and then the staff of deadspin quit again when he resigned early twitter joke. This is the St Louis sad and re all three of US love Deadspin Matt even worked with deadspin time and it's just extremely depressing. It's been extremely depressing to see what this company has done to them And Yeah I mean I just love those guys and I wish that things said knock down this way because it's like it's one thing to see a website get shut down because it's not profitable because it's not getting a lot of traffic but in this we saw that with splinter and that was very depressing as well to sit in a different way in a different way but yes but like for websites shut down for a website to shut down because certain people don't read it and don't understand what it does so well and therefore decide to try to fuck with it for no reason so many any other people do read it and understand exactly right but it's about all of that but all that all that needs to happen to people or one person who doesn't understand it does it read it needs to fuck with it and boom. That's it game over all the staff to quit anyway. It's really sad I'm really depressed about it. There's a lot of good reading. You can do on the subject to go out there and and read about it kirk any thoughts from you. Yeah I think the slate podcast that also has a transcript. That's an interview. Do with several of our former colleague as former deadspin colleagues. That's really good. I think gives a good rundown and is really sad and bummed me out but also was sort sort of you know just had all the information there. If you're curious what happened if you're listening to this kind of people talking about if you're not sure I thought that was probably the best summary I've seen of the explanation of the timeline and people's feelings about it was that podcast in the transcript so we shouldn't show notes or something. Yeah Yeah we'll put a Lincoln and one other thing I just want to link is for all the things that have been said about deadspin and all the articles that have been been written. You know a big part of this. Was this whole idea of stick to sports. Can you stick to sports. There's a ton of very thoughtful Pieces of analysis out there but I think the thing that stands in for all of that is that I think one of the best things I ever read at. Deadspin was about Gamer Gate. Eight am there. There's an article that Kreil Wagner wrote way back. When Gamer Gate was first happening? The headline is the future of the culture. Wars is here and it's Gamer. Gate will Lincoln and show notes. It is is still t- to me at least reading it now. I reread it yesterday. It's one of the best things anyone ever wrote about Gamer Gate. It is like frighteningly Prussian if you read it and know that it was written written before the two thousand sixteen election before the current thing world that we live in. It's like it's an incredible piece of writing and there are so many articles like that on deadspin and that don't have anything to do with sports because that was like Desmond was just more than that and I'm with both of you that it just completely sucks that this happened. It sucks to see something so great right and so beloved by so many people including me just sort of end like this. So yeah it's a bummer and All of my respect and support to everyone who used I work at a few things. A lot of devastating things have happened in media and at this company. But I don't think any of them have been as devastating to me personally as deadspin Jus- chattering for no reason so yeah all right and slightly. Later News Blues con up this weekend we should kind of talk about it a little bit before going into video games. We're not GONNA have a new segment this week. 'cause segment two of this week's show is all about death stranding So just real quick time just a Catholic bath like all the Hong Kong discussions. We've been having other WISCON- discussions we've been having Overall impressions obviously they announced the before and Unser Watch too. I was surprised. They didn't announce Diablo two remastered. I wonder if that's been cancelled or if it'll be announce another time. I'm not sure I should ask around about that but But the shit. We're out of a little busy this week. A little It's it's my show. Do a couple of interesting things. First of all so blitz con started keynotes started with the president jail and BRAC coming out and basically apologizing. For how how. They handled the Hong Kong situation but not actually like apologizing about it was a strange apology and he didn't actually change the the the ban any further like it was suspended for originally twelve months. The dude was suspended and then it was reduced to six months. But now it's still at six months So a lot of people will criticize that apology for being soft and then there were some protests at the show but overall it did not seem there was no big viral moment. The way there was last year with the Diablo. More at all April fools joke guy there is no big storyline that like that that the Hong Kong narrative took over the show. It just seemed like a another blues con went by and and who knows what whether people are still going to keep talking about Hong Kong when it comes to Blizzard Games and talk about what happened to blitz Chung but But it didn't seem like it made much of an impact. It seemed like the Internet was exploding over the announcement says we had kind of predicted they would last week Maddie do were you following coming along did you. Did you have any thoughts on and all that. Yeah I mean it was interesting to see people react to the apology in a somewhat positive way and then certa unrealized an hour later that nothing had actually changed. The apology hadn't really been much of anything. That was kind of fun to watch in real time but he sounded emotional Russian. Also I think that good way to start the show from a marketing perspective which we certainly I remember on the show. He criticized lizards. Lay Out of the show last year and their marketing decisions and this year starting without apology even with no action behind it. I think actually it was a good choice on their part. But the fact that there's no action action behind it is Kinda sad and so that is a shame to me. What I liked was in overwatch to trailer when the guy stood up on his own against Hansen overwhelming force and it was too much for him but then all of his friends and other people stood with him and solidarity they triumphed? I thought that was a really special message. Sued Overwatch to that. It was in no way in any kind of tension with other things that were happening. A blue-sky intake man. I was I was blown away like I. I A new by all the overwatch stuff. I knew that overwatch lower but like watching these trailers especially that first one that was just this montage of overwatch story moments as like. Wow this should all it feels like this is so wasted on a competitive shooting game. It should be like a big RPG or something and obviously tighten the original MMORPG's was was the original original B. before it became overwatch is cancelled and the vestiges of it became overwatch So they tried to make it a number of it's still. It feels like such a shame to have all this lower and now put it in a game that really can let you dig into that lower. Because it's pretty good evening. Isn't that nominally. What they're about to do they're trying to have their cake and eat it too? You by having overwatch to with some stray elements and still all of the multiplayer elements. That overwatch already. Had I. I don't know if that's going to succeed or not. But it is the balance they appear to be trying to strike. Yeah I mean this is a this is a observation as old as overwatch reading those original overwatch like short animated films. That are always really impressive. And it was always that feeling of I I would just watch a movie of this. I don't know if I WANNA play overwatch more like I think it's almost like I don't even know if an M. O. would be the right fit fit for all of those moments. Each one works as this perfectly encapsulated little very manipulative did of emotional bullshit kind of like not to to knock them. Because I really like all those over watch movies. I've watched a lot of character movies but there is more of a feeling this could just be as sort of a mini Pixar but like a dreamworks movie. That would be pretty good and I would watch it. That's kind of where I where I said. I like watching those watching those movies. I do yeah. Blizzard cinemax team is incredibly talented and it almost makes me wish they were making movies. I'm speaking real quick Diablo. Four thing Game looks like new Diablo game. Certainly I was actually. I actually Kinda loved that cheesy cinematic no matter that played before they like as reviewing the game is just so hardcore. Yes I'm ready for Lilith till I have horns and stuff. It's frigging cool and awesome logging. That stuff kind of still works on me as annoying as it is like an emotional trailer where people are working together or like a lady has devil horns like yeah. This is going to check my boxes. You're going to check my boxes. I like the I watched the gameplay trailer and it is always funny. How they're these extremely sturman? Mundarain link amazingly made cinematics and then they show the game. Little tiny people showed up and it's just the Oslo well okay. Hopefully this'll be fine. I guess that's so funny. Funny in Diablo three. And I'm glad they're just continuing the tradition of having just these extremely laverick cut scenes. That looks so beautiful and you just get back to this you know it was slanted view of your tiny little guy who's like swinging thermal jumps from the other it. I'm excited for before I will play the hell out of it but part of me wishes they had tried something else especially after hearing reporting guys. I'm sure have read the big story of Iran last year But knowing that they tried and experimented with this dark souls e like third person behind the power behind the shoulder view Even as like a spin off game I would just love to play like that. I'm just just yeah. There's a lot of games like that. Diablo is the owl at works. I feel like like that's fine. If they want to just making that same game it's true but even even the classes they announced like all classes more classes better that are very similar to previous classes tone and style. But maybe they'll be totally different. Maybe a blow my mind All right enough have games that are coming in the future. "Split-screen podcast smart enough to just kick the extra point and go to overtime. It's September nineteenth two thousand nineteen and there's video games in the Air I if we talk about the gains were playing thing from more gears five to the gears meet souls action of remnant from the ashes to Maddie's raced through fire emblem to Jason Sign with. Ai The some the vials then we talk news from last last week's report on malfeasance at Indy Publisher Nicholas apparently that's how it's pronounced apple's new subscription game service and rituals we perform in video games because I was off topic discussion of minehunter Chernobyl the NFL and a funky music pick. It's going to be a good one. Stick around. Welcome back to the show everyone as always we're so glad that you're here to talk about video games James. My name is Kirk. Hamilton and I am joined as ever by Mr Jason Schreier Hello Jason. Hello Kirk so nice to see you and of course Jason and I are also joined by Mattie Myers. Hello Matty. It's it sure is nice. Both you guys so I just WanNa say something up top. I I e Kirk. You and I are both incredibly lucky that in our lives we will never have to be pregnant. I just I just wanted to throw that doc. I'm not planning on it either. I wasn't going to have to ask but also in that case. All three of us are very lucky that we're not living living with a pregnant woman. I feel so horrible and I'm trying to do everything I can for my wife who is just miserable. Israel all the time because the third trimester especially the last weeks just like you can't sleep here in constant pain. You're just in constant agony from this human being whose sucking all the lights close. She's so close. Finish line is in sight any day now right any day now so yeah you can interrupt this show to be like honey amy. Could you imagine I actually also found out that like the whole my water broke. Thing only happens some of the time yeah. Sometimes they have to do it for its well. Also it's like that's just one of the signs say you're going into. Labor could also be other things but perfect sitcoms that up so that's just sort of like well. Can I say something really gross so I was. I was watching the league last night and it made me think one of my kind of weird pet peeves about sitcoms or any TV shows is that when they show people having sex and and may finish. It's never really realistic like sex finishing because they always just like roll to the sides and it's like okay. We're done also always mysteriously still wearing their underwear. The thing I always wake up in the morning everyone's got their underwear and I'm like okay so any any adult who has had sex knows that there's some other some cleaner other other things that have never actually shown on TV show. I always find it really weird like if you're I don't WanNA show everything odd and why don't they show people saying hello every time they pick up the phone and also bathroom and break like I say goodbye when they hang up the phone. They're terrible terrible but if you're gonNA show a bathroom break you show like the all of that was a great point anyway. Thanks Everyone Kentucky split-screen. Leave us a review. If you like what you hear now I could be called into father duty. this is either going to be my last episode for awhile or next week. We'll be my life steps then. I'll be gone for another four weeks of my first chunk of paternity. Leave so goodbye in advance and see and if if I suddenly suddenly stop if I suddenly stopped talking on this Roy tapes through running that happens if Jason just stop Saudi podcast hottest goal. We've gotta get that Amanda Burst into the room chasing. It's time what if what if we did a live recording from the hospital. Can you run that by your wife you know talking about Lincoln and he just lakes in the background cursing your name and you're like so this cool cyclists with the witch. Let me just go over this for you guys. Let me just explain you. Do it. Great good content to me anyway. Shall we talk about some video games. Let's do it yeah okay sure. I want to start with something new because is I haven't really talked about this game yet and it is a little game called. Ai The psalm neom files have you guys heard of this game outside of me but but it has such a weird distinctive name that it's just stuck in my brain as a game you're playing so I feel like this game has not been marketed very well because a lot of people don't know that it's coming and I was almost I was a little bit surprised when I first heard about it but this is from the director of the Zero Escape Games which are nine nine nine nine zero time dilemma which are fantastic trilogy of visual novels by by this director named. Ot Not not Choshi and he is he's just grown this reputation for creating all these super captivating twisty novels novels twisted visual novels that are full of like random tangents about science and mythology and really crazy plots that involve parallel universes is in time travel and all sorts of cool twists and interesting south and I've always loved the Games and was pleasantly surprised to find that he has this new game that just that just came out this week and I plead about nine or ten hours and it's really really good. It's really enjoyable because they know that both of you need new games to add I to your list. I had to say about it but yeah. It's the setup is the story is that you play as detective named data and you you find this woman has been murdered on a carousel in the middle of this old abandon park and she has her left eye gouged out and it turns out that you are also missing missing left eye and in your left eye instead you have this. Ai Machine called AIBA. Who is both your constant companion or police companion who makes cracks wisecracks lies cracks and also had is like a multi tool that can do all sorts of police work for x-ray quick. Western is AIBA SPELLED A or e y e hyphen. Ba No so it's it's a I B boy got the most of it and it's a nickname. It's a thick pund. It's like an eyeball and this game is like olive olive because she's games Ot Choshi Games are full of full of like weird puns listen in wordplay and stuff like that localized very well. I will say and so yeah so he embarks on this on this investigation and winds up in this big twisty story full of all sorts of weird characters and new mysteries and questions about his past and then just like in zero escape gape purchase last reward and remember. I don't know if you guys have played it Kirk. I think you might have played. Are you only played nine. No I played those two. Yeah yes so virtuous reward unfolds on this giant flow chart and like every time you make a decision it can go in one of two branches and then you in order to finish the game you have to see every possible branch so you're constantly elise zooming around the flow chart and then the story delve into that and like oh can you suddenly start to remember things you've seen in other timelines and so that's the main story of virtues lesser word and and then so this game also has a flow chart and also has branching paths and I started to see some of those same familiar patterns like I got to the end of one one path and it was like locked until you reveal more of the story inside to go back and like go down a different path and it's doing some really interesting narrative stuff. There's also a puzzle element to add that isn't quite as good as the zero skate puzzles. I always think of Zeros Games as being like room escape puzzles like that part of those games actually the crime scene investigation no so neither so it's most of the game is you talking to people and unlike zero schemes you have branching dialogue or rudimentary branching dialogue because you wind up having to see all the different outcomes regardless but you can choose options and you're going around and talking to people that's and clicking on things to investigate them on the screen. That's most of the game but then there are these like these these like dreamscapes portions that are called some neom and that's where the name. Ai Cassani and files comes from and basically you use I buy and this machine to go into someone's mind and try to figure out what their hidden secret is or try. The do something you have different goals each somewhat phoenix right. Ask your unlocking the chains around their heart while it's not quite like that because you actually walk around and like you control is suddenly this human version of Aiba who walks around in this conceptually conceptually shirt yeah and then you see all these different objects. They're like there might be a handful of okay. Let me let me set the scene by giving you as an example so at one point someone is murdered. A woman is murdered and you think it's a man's you go into this man's mind and you suddenly see this like depiction of a warehouse and you can walk around this warehouse and look over here. There's a box over here. There's a control panel for a crane and if you go to the control panel then you have a couple of options and one of them I p pulled lever and one of them might be pushed lever and then one of them is do a video game code on all the different levers and the correct options do the video game code but here's the catch each of these things takes up time you have a limited amount of time in each of these omnium so I think it's six minutes and so so like pulling the lever might cost you thirty seconds and then pushing the Lever Mukasey thirty seconds so it's not actual real time. It's more like a currency that you're using to solve the puzzles right and so it's a lot of trial and error because there's no real indications of like Oh. I need to do the video game code thing with all these levels rather than pushing or pulling them. It's a lot of just like I'm going to randomly guess. That's what to do but it's Kinda Fun. It's got this weird I found myself retrying a couple of times because they just ran out of time because I made the wrong decisions but it's it gets it's pretty. Zany wacky and you do some weird stuff and people's dreams and then so it's within those that the branching happens because you can choose to do different things sounds like at one point you can choose whether to believe someone story or not believe it and then choosing each one. We'll send you down a different path in the story and then once you follow that path to its conclusion that once you follow that branches vision you have to go back and see what the other way would do and then to finish the story. I assume I have not finished but I assume I'M GONNA. We'll have to see everything and then there'll be some major. Groundbreaking twist at the end like there always is and I'm really excited because it's like a really captivating mystery and story. It's is all about the there's this do. There's this string of serial. It's a serial killer and a string of murders and they always gouge out the left eye of the person there are a lot of questions about parallel universes and a lot of themes like a lot of talk about Egyptian mythology and the way that they explored is and there's there's a glossary in the game and I knew in his played one zero escape games knows all about the random tangents about like we're GONNA get into ice nine nine and like churning nears cat shit and in this game. There's a glossary in it's almost like a.

"The assassination of Gianni, Versace, cheesy and a particularly lush music sick around. And welcome back to the show as always we're so glad that you joined us to talk about video games. My name is Kirk Hamilton. And I am joined by the one and only Mr. Jason schreier. Hello jason. Hello. Hello. Hello N. Jason I are also joined by the also one and only miss Matty Myers. Hello. Matty. It's me. Hello. Guys on Skype after seeing you in person. Really, right. Thank goodness. That was very fun. And thank you to everyone who came out last week. And if you missed the live show in Brooklyn, you can listen to it. We put it up on Saturdays. You can get checkup that and yeah, it was really fun. It's a music. It's it's always a trip to do this show live just because it's such a different vibe having an audience. They're like reacting to our jokes. It's nice that people laughed at our jokes. That's nicer affirmation that we are. The jokes were funny, but they laugh very, very politely. At our Stephen Attila was sitting from the sun and said, please laugh he would just hold it up. Raise it every time. They thought we were. A free drink even to being a hype man, he probably the worst type, man. The most a very gentle one. So. Yeah. So the live show is really cool. You can check that out before we jump into things we're gonna talk about some gains playing and the Nintendo directs at just happen. We're recording this right after minutes after. I just wanna say so the biggest event in gaming this week was activision blizzard laying off eight hundred people, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are all very sorry. And wish the best to those people and hope that they land on their feet. We're not really going to talk about that. Because we have some other things that we want to get to. But you can check out a lot of the stories that we've been running on Kotoka if you're curious about what happened there and wanna read about the fallout and just what's been going on in the corporate greed and the activision executives making millions of dollars while laying off their and plays. So yeah, just wanted to get that ahead. And then we will jump right into the show. So why don't we start by talking about some of the video games? We have been playing, Mattie. Let's start with you. When you talk about some of the stuff you've been playing, sure. So I was in New York City for a week, which means I couldn't play kingdom hearts. And so since I've been so that pretty much kingdom hearts and. I don't I don't have a ton to say about it. It's still that game. But last night I decided to finally play all of the iphone games that Sora gets on his fictional iphone. I dunno. If you to or familiar with these games at all or if you play I was watching. I was watching Evan watching various clips of this game. It looks like there's more of a social media phone this game that I may be would've expecting kingdom hearts Seagrams that you see in like in interstitial 's where you know, Rico's posting on his, you know instantly. To his feelings. Hashtag the crap out of all of their posts in the world. Very current. Let's very current. It's very true. But it's also like where to these post actually exist, and what are the characters who are reading them like. About like ants OMB and replicas and of like Rico, aren't you worried about the seeing your frigging Instagram post or worried about how does you know? I would be here. Well, you've been posting about every single world and like. Like people tweet about their employers and things that they're never. Followed around by team of super villains who can disguise themselves like travel between worlds and shit. Like, well, maybe you would post out it. I don't know. Yeah. I was gonna say you're not followed by team of super villains. Let me work for EA. Of course, in that case, you you're very careful what you post on the internet, sarin, Rico, and Maki and the gang. They're very they I, but also like maybe Chippendale have created some sort of private social network where only the good guys get to see..

"Welcome back to the show. It's so nice that you joined us to talk about video games. My name is Kirk Hamilton. And I am joined as ever by Kentucky's own Mattie Myers. Hello Matty, Kirk high very nice to see you. I'm also joined while we are also joined by Mr. Jason schreier. Hello, allergies low. Hello. Hello. It's nice to see you both. I think we're we're working out our introductions there because there are three of us now. So we have to get the rhythm down. It's fun. Polite to each other. It's wild. As being polite to each other as wild, you're not. So I have to remember every week. Like, wow, I got to be really nice to cook. Jason now that we're being recorded not like that. So the week not go back to being super rude. Red Red Legos legos. on smiles come out. Everybody is friends for an hour hour, fifteen minutes. Stories of Hollywood like. Completely accurate to this show. When the Mike are off we just it's fisticuffs. All the way down. I'm sure that people listening can really tell fake become shows fake amazing that you guys asked me to join the show and the three of us together is just more attention than it's ever been. Here's a funny story. I was I so I got these new air pods over the holidays talked about this before and I really liked them. And but sometimes they'll do funky things. Sometimes you'll have connected them them to your computer. And then your phone won't play 'em or whatever. Some something weird happen. You'll put them in and something will automatically start playing. So before I like yesterday or days ago, I put in my air pods. And suddenly I hear Kirk Hamilton talking. And I'm like, oh my God. Did I just call Kirk like he's talking about year? And then I realize it's him talking because I was listening to strong songs, which by the way podcast. But it was jarring to just hear his voice in my ear is like oh my God Kirkwood. What what call Kirk immediately starts breaking down the nuances of music. What are you like as soon as the phone? It's. Okay. So beyond say. The rhythm and the tension and beyond through that is that's like my voicemail message is talking about single eighties. So before we get started on today's show couple of notes big notes. First of all, we have a super exciting announcement to may do which is that on February seventh that is three weeks from when the show is going live three weeks. Thursday, February seven we are doing a live show. Qatargas me lie. Screen live. It's going to be in Brooklyn. It's going to be the bell house bar in Brooklyn on February seventh that evening. It'll be at seven thirty. I believe tickets are going to cost fifteen dollars and for your ticket. Not only will you get to come see us. And then hang out with us afterwards. You will get a free drink, so really cool deal..

"Welcome Becca, talking split-screen, the only video game podcast that road. It's horse all the way from one side of the map to the other. It's active or twenty two thousand eighteen and that means just one thing. It's time to talk about redemption, not just any redemption, but red dead redemption to rockstar games. Incredible new open world opus I finished the game after seventy hours have a million thoughts on it. I was playing Jason was reporting publishing feature earlier this week about work conditions that produce the game and rockstar games. Longstanding culture of crunch we spend this entire episode talking about both of those things and the many interesting ways that they intersect. There is much to say sweet hope you stick around. Let's go. Welcome back to the show. It is a very exciting week in video games. And there's so much to talk about my name is Kirk Hamilton am in the editor at large otaku dot com. And I'm joined as ever by the Butch Cassidy to my Sundance kid, Mr. Jason schreier news editor at Kentucky. Hello jason. Those good. That's good. Ye high. I believed it was. I was on the frontier king tell that. I'm ready. I'm ready for some cowboy action. Yes, you're in the wild west the wild west spirit. Why why might you be in the wild west spirit Jason because of course, read every two comes out this week, and you have been playing it for roughly seventy hours, I believe you said that is that is correct for roughly my entire life. I haven't playing Entered. I'm for. cente- for the past week. That's impressive on time. And there's lots of talk about today. We're gonna talk about the game. We're going to talk about what went into making the game. We're gonna talk about lots of different things the story the game by everything you could possibly want to know. I read every do. But first of all I'm gonna ask you the question that I that all of our listeners wanna know right now. How do the horse balls work? I mean, how good is how good is do. It's very good. It's a very very impressive game that I found I found excellent really in a ton of different ways, the horse balls do appear to shrink as far as I could tell based on the weather. So those two extremely brief answers for you. I guess the horse balls thing pretty much closes the closes the door on that question. But the quality and nature and experience playing this game is far far more complicated in my feelings on our far more complicated than could just be summed up by it's good. I mean, but yes, it is. It is a pretty amazing video. Okay. That's a good summary. So if that's all you want to know, you can just stop listening there. But so, yeah, we're going to get into some things obviously not be telling we will not be sharing any spoilers in part because if you've share spoilers Kirk I will just get really mad at us. So. I would not dream that there will be no stroke stories, boys. I won't talk about anything pass. Maybe like the first couple of acts, which okay, it's all pretty straightforward. So yes. So so lots of talk about I want to start by something. So first of all I should say that your review is going up at the same time as this podcast is going up. That's when review embargo lifts. And so one of the things that I found was interesting while reading your review is that the way described actually playing the game and the little details that you have to go through like you said that you have to go and take a bath. And then scrub your individual body parts and actually sounds like a lot of the moment to moment game play isn't very fun. So I'm curious can you elaborate on that part of the game? Yeah. I think that fun is really complicated. Word I get into this some in their view, and I tend to associate fun with sort of kinesthetic pleasure. The feeling of that not all video games have in his actually not something. I think is a prerequisite for a game. To be considered a success? It's sort of like jumping on Goumba and Mario or firing a head shot with a hand cannon destiny. It's the kind of stuff that just feels really good, and it's just fun on its own. And and you you kinda get that out of it..

"Welcome back to the show as always we're very glad that you're here with us and hope you're Tober is going well. My name is Kirk Hamiltonian editor at large echo dot com. And I am joined as ever by my co-host Mr.. Jason schreier news editor at Kukuh. Hello, Jason. Hello, Kirk is just thinking about how if we are still doing the show and twenty two years and twenty forty, and I hope we do. I dearly help that we are still doing this show that totally agree. We will be doing a weather report and we'll be like, well, it's a Pakalitha outside once again. Hav a weather. What? A, what? A fun light topic to talk about. Yeah. And. It'll be the breezy, fucked. Is underwater. Kirk, there's lots of talk about today. In fact, we have such a long chat today coming up that we have to do bridge versions of everything else because we have a long conversation with Stephen coming about all things micro transactions. So just you kind of blaze through some news of the week. Microsoft is buying obsidian as we reported this week, XBox ounce to streaming service Google after Google announced their own last week and perhaps the most relevant for us. So last week, last week after after we recorded last week show, I reported that game. Developers were preparing for PS named changes and this week on Wednesday. Sony finally announced that ESN name changes are actually coming now. I have not gone back and looked at our predictions for this year. I believe that was one of your predictions, but I don't know if you predicted. Yes, I see the look on your face. You see. That should maybe giving you a preemptive answer to your question, but I'm already preparing to argue some technicalities because I don't know if you've predicted that they would be coming this year or announced this year because isn I can tell you what I predicted because I read the post, oh, you did. And my prediction was the Sony would announce name changes in the fire show. My main reaction to this news is switch axe. The switch axe in bloodborne is actually a really good weapon and use it as my main weapon in bloodborne the first one I played, but I would actually recommend it because it's very, very fun. Oh, God, I'm still going to be playing essence create odyssey. That's the problem. So yeah. So before we bring on Stephen and talk about maker transactions for a while, we should talk about the game itself because unite both been playing a ton of this ice spent pretty much all of us weekend. My wife was out of town, so I spent the whole weekend playing giant chunks of this game. I'm like thirty hours in your, how many are you about? Thirty six hours on file. Oh, yeah. So we're really far into this game. I love it. It's it might be m might have bypass Spiderman as my favorite big triple a game of the each new game that you play is going to be your new favorite game of the year. It's, I mean, I will say that I keep coming back to into the reach and obviously hollow night if holiday to come out this year, it would be far and away like by far my favorite. But because it came out last year, it doesn't really count same divinity original sin to. But as odyssey man might be my favorite game that actually came out this year mostly because of Cassandra. I mean, character who is just the best you described it in our text thread with a couple of other friends as wonder, woman game, and you met it said that on the show last week to which I think is an apt way to describe this on Twitter. I think not on the show I have. I have a more nuanced version of that take that I can get into, but I'll let you finish your initial. Your initial thoughts for now? Hit me. I wanna hear your version. Yeah, I, I really. He really liked this game a lot like a lot a lot a lot. I think it's really good. It's better than I was expecting by quite a bit, and that's for a lot of reasons. I think we're gonna talk about in the minute, and yeah, so the wonder woman thing is has really been striking me over the course of the game. So yeah, we can start with Cassandra, Cassandra..

"mr jason schreier" Discussed on Polygon's Quality Control

"Mike guest today are polygons executive editor, Chris Plante, and Kentucky's news editor Mr. Jason schreier. My name is Charlie hall and you're listening to polygons quality control. Fellows. Thank you so much for taking the time today, especially Jason could have you on the show, allow Charlie. Thank you for having me. This is kind of a special episode of polygons quality control. This is our pre e-3 show. We, we've not really done much with these shows in the past stuck to our knitting, talk more about reviews of games and movies, and hardware and stuff. But I kinda wanted to get you guys on the line here because when I think about people that know stuff in games, I kinda think about Chris flat, and I think about Jason schreier is folks that no way more of the scuttlebutt than I ever will. And I just wanted to start by kicking things off with kind of the big three. So we're, we're gonna talk a little bit about what we're gonna expect this year from the folks over Microsoft from PlayStation and also from the folks at Nintendo. And I want to start things off with PlayStation. I start with you, Chris because he kinda get the home field advantage here in polygon podcast and all. Oh, sure. I mean, I still kind of like overwhelmed by the comparison to Jason is somebody who knows things because I feel like that's the equivalent of like comparing the nineteen ninety nine Kansas City Royals to like the Yankees any year when I'll take the flattery. Anytime. Sure. Thank you PlayStation. Okay. So what do we expect from PlayStation? I think this is a year where they pull back even though I don't know if anybody will see it that way after all said and done, because what is the three, if not a series of things being compared to one another. And I think it will definitely be framed against Microsoft and intendo. But I do think that Sony has so much announced they have so much that the the already have to speak to from days gone that open worlds. Zombie game to last of us to the others game that seems to visually have inspired days gone to a random, weird announcements, like medicals remake last year to the ninja game. There's just so much that they have to work through deal sea of God of war, all their obligations to. PlayStation VR, Spiderman. It's just all out on the table. And I think rather than what they have done in years past, which is an ounce, all these games very early. They will keep some of those cards hidden for a while. Maybe for a time to more advantageous and focus on on what's out there. And and also, I mean, that's probably a good idea is Sony recognizes that there are other things out there. The need three, they have the Paris games, conferences become pretty big for them later in the summer, and then they have their own PlayStation experience, which I think they're trying to create or reshape is more of a place for big reveals right ahead of the holidays. Jason. What what do you think in my faith on thinking that you three, isn't there top priority or only priority? No, I think you're you're totally right. First of all, Chris don't sell yourself short because you are, of course an excellent reporter always has his ear to the ground. And second of all, I think that, yeah, you're totally right. And so he's even said this. They came out on their PlayStation bog a couple of weeks ago and said, hey, don't expect a lot of first Purdy announcements for us. We're going to be focusing on these four games and it was the last of us to go sushi. Emma. Seker punch samurai game Spiderman and death stranding the Kojima batch crazy extraordinaire. So those games, I imagine we'll take up the bulk of their press conference time. I think also have some third party announcements in there. There have been rumors of devil may cry, five company, three. I wouldn't be shocked to see that there. I wouldn't be shocked to see the announcement of from software's next game shadows die twice which they hinted at the game awards last fall. I don't think people have been theorising that that is blood too, but I do not think that's the case. I actually think it's something else. I think we may see it at Sony's conference or maybe we'll see at another conference. I don't know, but I wouldn't be shocked to see some big third party reveals that night. For example, of square inex- has more final fantasy. Seven remake footage to show us why not show it. Then when it show it in the morning, their press conference and then show some more Sony's conference tonight. Maybe we'll see some kingdom, hearts, three, all the there could be a lot of third party stuff. Destiny will definitely be there. So yeah. So I think it'll be those four big first party marquee titles. We're not gonna see horizon to. We're not going to see God of war too. I don't even know if we'll see God of ordeal. See, I feel like that that make sense. But I also feel like Corey Bara bar log. The director of gotta were has kinda hinted that they don't wanna do deal. So I don't know. I don't know what we'll see from from that. But yeah, if you're going in expecting the next big Sony first party surprise do not expect that, or you will be disappointed. There's also this weird chatter lately though that like the PlayStation four is coming to the end of its life span and all of this that that caused some some confusion almost I feel among among players and owners of the PlayStation forty that Sony takes the opportunity to reinforce that this platforms can be around for a while or maybe even exert pressure on Microsoft. And can compare themselves favorably to that flagging XBox player base? Yeah. Oh, yeah. This is definitely them saying, I mean, with those four games, the Sony can pretty much say. I mean, look at this look what we've got planned for the PS for it. You think anyone here is really picky about up? He has five because they are. I mean there are people having conversations about what the PS five will be and finalized expects and all that jazz. But we're still always away from that thing. And I mean, look at PS two NPS three. I mean, Sony makes systems that live long lives. They extend almost into their follow ups. So I, I agree with that. I think we will be seeing PS four games alongside PS five games whenever that time comes by the way. This'll be boring if we just agree on everything. So I just don't worry I have. I have a lot of just really, really vicious takes, okay, let's move along down on the road here. And let's talk a little bit about about Microsoft guys. I'm a little worried. About Microsoft, not not like the company is large, but specifically the x. box him like they gotta pull it off this here. In my opinion, you don't think it's normal that crackdown three, how to release date and is now suddenly missing from everything. It's very concerning. Jason. I think you have good reason to be worried about Microsoft. I think. I mean, anyone should have been worried about Microsoft for like the past four or five years really since the Xbox One reveal, it's been fair to worry about Microsoft. I actually think that this will still not be the year for their first party to come roaring back. I think that we can expect to see a lot of third party stuff at their conference this year. Like I wouldn't be surprised to see cyberpunk and it's big, reveal their conference maybe as their big show stopper things because the Witcher three was big XBox. It was like a fixture at the XBox conference every year before it came out. So I wouldn't be surprised to see that their partnership continue their and other stuff. Maybe we'll see some more Anthon there. Maybe we'll see some assassin's creed odyssey there before Ubisoft conference. So yeah, a lot of options there, but I mean, come on, Chris. Got to bring some of the first party stuff if they don't like, oh, man. Here's where we disagree. I think they will have a lot of first party stuff. I think the question is, does anybody care and by that I mean, I there have been rumors floating around about numerous gears of war announcements to which I have to under-. Why like who? Who is this for other than the very, very core base of like Microsoft fans are XBox fans. And I, I guess that's my big question Mark. Not just for this
