What's that says. Well your kids have missed eleven tuesdays in a row and i said oh yes that's true. She says well we're going to do about it. I said well ma'am none. You know and i said man. I put my neck on the line every day nine times a day. And when i come home i say my prayers and my blessings and every saturday and sunday. I miss the ball games. I missed the cheerleading wrestling and soccer games. But when tuesday comes i don't have the heart to take these kids and drop them off at the school and so i- hook up the fishing boat and we go to the direction and pack a lunch and we go out on the water. We do something to the bowling alley and we go do something. Well mr davis. That's so great of you. She says you continue. Do what you're doing and just be sure. They do their homework on tuesday oft said no problem so we worked around a little bit and it was great. Wow that's that's a bit of me of raising kids on the racetrack right. She died a year ago yesterday on the first september. In see i'd flyer all over the country chicago. "Bywater farm dot com. I it's it's just a great thing. I mean we all have those kind of things now. There comes a point in your life where business equals who you are and we were talking. We'll talk some of the second hour about people that want to do their work for thirty plus years and then quit doing it and go be the real person. I like to be the real person while. I'm doing the work. Why do you have to go do something you hate for ten or fifteen years just to quote make enough money so you go do something you like. Why not just do something you like to the people i know business wise it. I don't know that many people in houston. I'll just put this way. That hate their job. I don't know that me and you know something. There's not a whole lot of glaring poverty there even in the places that are the rough neighborhoods. There is not. I don't believe there's a hell of a lot of poverty there. How can there be poverty in a city that pulls together like that to help each other. That's not poor. I don't care what's in your checking account. If you have friends or fellow people in your city that care you are not poor by definition. You're not poor however if you live in a neighborhood or someplace that the people don't care about each other would just as soon stab you in the back is anything that's not good quality alive. It would be interesting to see what the crime rate is like in houston i. I haven't always bad well then then. Where's the disconnect here because houston. Your talk is not a place where crime is bad. There were there's crime definitely there. You know it's not utopia. Yeah it's cry. they got crime. But there's a difference between crime and corruption. What is corruption corruption is when you've got a problem at the center of the whole deal. Corruption is what we have in our government. Starting at the top are federal government. And it's been in our state government for years texas. Let me put it this way. In kentucky the presence of the state and state government and government in general is always omnipresent. People walk around worried if they're doing something that's not sanctioned by the government in texas the intrusion of state and local government into the affairs of the private citizen is less well and one of the things that i have heard you talk about. Is that the lack of the state tax. They don't have a state income tax. And therefore your income is instantly boost. Couldn't believe how much money at took home back in nineteen eighty seven. The last year. I had a full taxable year down there that actually i got to keep in my paycheck. So where do they recoup that to to. They have variety of other user taxes. Florida state income tax either kentucky. Not only has a state income tax. It's got a local income tax and guess what neither one of those governments are really on fiscal firm footing. How is that they take away that much of your income and yet they're still a net borrowed position. I will say one thing that comes to mind is taxes take care of roads in houston gasoline taxes. Well whatever tack lane those. Those were the rowdiest roads. I've always been that way. You know why it is because the soil underneath. It is shifty it is. That's what i told you improbable place to put a town like you know how far they have to go down to put peers in for big buildings. A long way is that it's a sandy type. It's called gumbo. They tear down that po post oak center where we ate breakfast. That was all something else. There's a chinese restaurant in there. We also use to go to. It was kind of a little hole in the wall. There aren't that many hole in the wall places around the city anymore. Everything's been scaled. You don't have a lot of like eleanor shepherd you kinda do where we went to. La's barbecue we went out there. Hell that story. That's a great story so we went to this barbecue place. Call pisito la's but that wasn't the original guy to found it. It was a A black gentleman named john davis and what date did he found it. It was nineteen thirty five but his house was where he served the barbecue out of and his house was displaced by interstate. Ten going through. They're probably in the fifties or sixties. So he had to move to move south down on shepherd that's where he it was called shepherd barbecue. Mr davis was a bit of a reverse racist. He did not allow white people inside the restaurant. The inside of the restaurant was for black customers. Only and the whitehead to stand outside and they did so gladly. He produced a great product. Yes and he was well known throughout the city. Because there weren't that many barbecue restaurants back then there just weren't that many restaurants and his was extremely well. No mr davis did not trust banks so he took his money home and buried it in his yard jars. Local scoundrels figured it out robbed him beat him and he died. They killed him but.

As far as understanding this offense to the degree where john he said mcdonnell gives him four five different plays at a turn in the huddle and just say you pick the best one based on the look four five different ones and the and he says he knows exactly what he's supposed to do at all times. He said he could teach this offense the way john teaches this offense and he has great accuracy. Great arm strength and the as respected this team. But you know he's in the division. We're not all say is this though To get back out here after last year being out there in column buttons that week two against the saints at no fans to go back out here opening weekend against against the ravens one of the most exciting teams in the nfl for vegas start off their year playing them on monday night with fans opening weekend we saw one opening weekend was like for college. Football at you think is going to be for the nfl. Everything's gonna be vegas. I mean it's one it's vegas to. It's the raiders will most emotional fan bases in the nfl and for us on monday night. He everyone talks about him is that he's like a dick but also people mention that like he was so cutting and it was he's just that level of alpha that he's like a like he's so talented that he also has to dominate psychologically and comedic. -ly off the field off the court and fucking love that about him. I love if it was probably later in my comedy career when fully like i love a good dick a kid. Who's funny. yeah i like. There's something like like. I like but it's also it's like a take a musician where sometimes like i have friends. That are musicians. I like to watch them work. And then i have other friends that i don't wanna see what they do it. All around them is a nightmare. Because you know. And that's how i feel about dick heads. That are funny really funny. He's got like both of those candidates so he's almost allowed to be an asshole dairy to say something to this guy he's doing all the fuck he's putting it all on his show mean great team all around. Obviously but this dude is wildly capable. So i think he's allowed to bust your balls and make you gamble against them every once in a while and make you better at like the people that he picked where it was like. I think you saw people like they're hey really went after that guy and then you see like you see that guy be like really did but i really liked it and it made me push thing. I was also honored the He he was unrelenting a and made mile. I'm a male athlete in the nineties. So that means. I grew up trying to impress older. Men i look for. I look for validation from my dad from my coach from my teachers from my recruiters so having it from michael jordan is is worth it. I don't care that he slapped me in the face for everybody on the team. The i'm just having a for being honest to like there's way human beings are motivated are different and my out just kind of figured out like early on the if they could challenge me in some way or just come at me kinda aggressively. I'd be like fuck you. And then i would see. My coach coaches never figured that out. Because that's my dad's mentality. So that i reject but if you give a modem of support if you're like honestly gave you have the i think if you take this ball and you go to the right you got you. This is possibly a good play. And i'll be like you're right. It is thank you for supporting the by choices for the first time. Anyone papa i just. I understood that. I was always like why. "To gender right which is great and when i was reading about it it seems like they brought you in because you said hey look gonna work for free. It's an internship and they were like l. Sure come on in and i. I'm very quick to note guests I do realize the tremendous tremendous fortune. I had that. I was able to do an internship for no pay and i am extremely cognizant that note not. Everyone has the luxury of doing that now. The good news is today. Nowadays those internships pay a million years ago. When i did my insurance. They didn't pay. And i do recognize how lucky i was fortunate. I was that. I could do one for no pay. But i was in grad school. I heard all these other kids talking about these. Things called internships and externships. So i called the raiders The team had relocated to los angeles the same year i graduated from college. The team had tried a few years earlier but been ordered back by the by. The court finally came down the year. I came down for grad. So i picked up the phone and i said i'd like to do an internship and they patched me through someone who said well what does that and i said. Well i'll work for you and you won't pay me. They said come on down. And that's how i started my career but again i recognized how fortunate i was to be able to do that. But the good news is that today. Those internships pay so. Did you when you went and did your internship for you in all the different areas or did you to stay in one area. Like because my son's in sport management he just graduated from delaware. He's interning at the hall of fame right now and he does marketing yeah. He's in the marketing he's in ticket. Sales like there's so many different things that are part of an organization. Like the raiders. What did you do as an intern. the right thing which is do as much as you can in every area that you can and learn as much as you can. I joined the organization as an intern in the legal department. But you know what. I went into the ticket office On on the day or so before a home game and helped alphabetized. The will call envelopes. And i went into the Scouting department and i helped them organize all the scouting material. I went to every department. And said how can i help. And that's another thing. I tell people. Yes it's important that you fulfil your primary responsibility but if you're part of a team roll up your sleeves and help your team mates. Don't sit there and talk about being a good teammate. If you're not rolling up your sleeves and helping everyone you can in every department you can. Let me tell you something that hunter telling you. I was going to be funny and say. Let me tell you something you know full. Well know if the left tackle can't get his job done if he needs some help walking his man the left guard is gonna slide over and say let me help you and you know it always interested me that people in the front office of an organization who wanted to talk so much about the importance of teamwork on the field of the left guard sliding over to help the left tackle left guard could handle both responsibilities of the safety helping the corner who was having trouble defending his man. We know what if that's what you expect teammates on the field. Why should it be any different in the front office. So you know if i could go into the ticket office and help them alphabetize ticket envelopes. Hey i was helping. I was being a good teammate. And be. I was learning about tickets so i think your son is doing the right thing and he should help in every department he can awesome. So do you think that because you were there like you started as an intern. And then they brought you back. They hired you. I don't know if it was one or two years later but then like you were there for like you said almost thirty years. How much of a benefit was that. Because you got the no. I'm sure you knew everybody in that organization. Because i think that's so special when you can walk down the halls and say hi so-and-so-and-so's you're saying instead of just saying hi. You know what i mean. I know what you mean. And i think it has all as you said you know. There's two sides to every coin. It was marvelous Just magnificent to be there. As long as i was i will forever cherish the memories but the flip side of that is i grew up on the job. So you know. I started as an intern. When i was in the early part of my twenties and i joined full-time and sort of the mid part of my twenties Not only grew up on. I not only grew up within the job. I grew up on the job. Not only in a job sense but in a growing up sense. So you know i wouldn't. I would just say this all of my mistakes. That i made and i made a lot of mistakes. They were with me. Those whole thirty years and i wouldn't trade it for anything but growing up on a job is Is a challenge. Because you're living with those mistakes you made from day one and the one person who it might surprise many people to know was the most understanding of making mistakes and my growing up on the job was out right. Yeah that's what i figured is that he kinda i. I think that with mr davis was just about you under you. Know he let you kind of expand and grow and and he trusted you. That's what it sounded like. He really trusted you. You were the one out you know up during the night and learning and doing all these things in let him sleep through the night you know. That's correct what if well you're absolutely right He did trust me and the biggest misconception about him is that you couldn't disagree with him. If that was true. I'd have been fired. Two two and a half weeks into my job because he walked into a room. I was sitting with someone he lit into that guy. Like i can only imagine a philosopher. Raptor would rip into And after a period of time. I realized he was wrong. So i said excuse me. You're wrong and i don't have a dainty voice at all at every And he look. I will never forget the look on his face when he turned around and looked at me. Like what and i said you're wrong. And he raised his voice. And i raised my voice and i said look if the facts on what you are. Basing your conclusion were accurate it would be a fair conclusion. But you're basing your conclusion on inaccurate data and we had a huge argument and ultimately after going back and forth for quite a period of time loudly to the point that everyone in the organization gathered outside the office to listen to us and one woman got boxes. Because she figured. I'd have to pack looking at me said okay. I gotcha i gotcha. And we went on. And i will tell you guess. We disagreed more than we agreed over the thirty years i was with him or almost thirty years and that was fine with him which which is awesome that is that the way to go in and what of what organization that you know he built and then you've got to sit right along and help them build it. I mean i know that you were more on the executive side. The nfl side dealing with all the day to day stuff more than the players side. But i play with so many guys. That came from the raiders. One of my really good friends when i was with the redskins past danny turkey. I don't know if you remember danny. of course. of course. I will say i never called him danny but i i remember that was just for you right. Yeah oh yeah yeah we. We had so much fun. It was really savvy when he passed but like oh man just to what an organization. What a place and You've seen it grow now to where it's in vegas and how do you feel. How'd you feel about it. Moving leaving going to vegas. Next emotion and these are not mutually inconsistent It's a magnificent stadium and for those fans that were excited by the move and we're going to follow the team to vegas whether they live in the bay area or elsewhere they'll to vegas for the games. I'm delighted for them. And for the fans who are heartbroken. I'm.

There is something lacking in the world that makes people at an internal level feel valued and like misty was talking about just a minute ago because i don't care what you do. What you do doesn't define you who you are is what defines you and when when you come in contact with someone who sees the value in you and cares enough to call you in the middle of the night. That's a pretty special thing. Yeah i mean that's something that that's that's unique and rare. Yeah and honestly quite quite beautiful. Yeah i mean. It's amazing. What that does and i think i think. Just just listening to that podcast in hearing you talk about their family. It's like something that they've that they have cultivated inside of their little clan. That's coach Tom Flores has the temperament of a saint. So you're exactly right. Just no one. You know what I know. About the situation and no one coach, You know the little bit that I do. It's no surprise that he was the right guy for that job because he just has that even keeled temperament. Nothing seems to bother him. And if you're gonna work for Al Davis during that time when you know the Raiders with the Raiders, and now Davis was out, Davis You had to be that dude, that just kind of kept everything. Just chill, because if you go one way or another, you upset what is already a pretty volatile situation. And there's no way for us kind of the person in the middle as you know. I know you're the man with all all the information I can only imagine those years ago. How how technology has come across and but your preparation is very old school. It's amazing. I'm sitting here in front of a pile of papers. And I know you know exactly where everything is that it is truly amazing. I'm telling you, man, you are. You're a man of this art. I tell you what, you know what if you if you're gonna do it, you might as well do it right. And sometimes you know, it gets that nauseum for people. That, you know, See me, you know, doing some of the stuff in there is prepped and people could be like you got the easiest job. You just so all you do is talk sports, and I'm like, Yeah, but if you don't know what you're talking about, you forget about it. You're not gonna last a day. You're not gonna have any sponsors. You're not gonna have anybody that's gonna you know, value your opinion. And I enjoy it. You know, it's something it's It's always been a passion and radios always been a passion. And I know TV you can get, you know the bigger bucks and now streaming and doing all this stuff, But I always enjoyed radio. It's old school, and I remember my dad, you know, growing up and tell me you know all the games that he listened to on the radio because there was no TV. I mean, you get an occasional game when TV started up and you get some games. When your team was on the road, and I tell me about you know some of the stories, but you really had to use your imagination and listen to the broadcasters. And that's why, you know when you give me a choice of watching a Dodger game, we're listening to Scully. Call one on the radio. I'm listening to Scully every time because he paints the picture. You know, he's a Rembrandt on the on the mic. Absolutely so. I mean, if anybody out there is listening to this right now, and you think this is easy, Go ahead and look yourself in the mirror, recorded and then break down all of your favorite sports scores and, you know, I mean, and send that to somebody and tell me what your feedback is. It's not easy. There's always something to improve on. And if you don't know that now that you will You know, for sure Learned that very quickly. But you know, absolutely like I mean, like, that's what you know that's when people tune into stuff like this. This is what they're looking for. Right there Looking for almost like an experience, right? So when you watch ESPN and you watch box sports, and you watch these professionals in this industry, you know what I mean. Like they, It's taken a long time for them to get to where they are. So, Yeah, absolutely. Like, you know, Vin Scully. I mean, well, you know, make my heart pounding couple times faster right now. Just just thinking about how he does it and how everything is so smooth and flows so well, And it makes it seem so easy. But he also did it for it, 60 years. So, uh, I absolutely professional In this industry, and he's one of the greats. Hands down. No doubt about it. I know you love baseball. Know you love your Padres in your Padres. They're busy bolstering that roster to make sure they're gonna be Ah challenge not only in the National league, but in the NL West with those Dodgers and really bolstering that squad will get into that. SEC football schedule already came out some power five matchups coming up. September 4th ls you at U C L, A Georgia and Clemson. I'll play that game in Charlotte, North Carolina and Miami and Alabama. They'll play in Atlanta also have Louisville and Ole Miss Bill play each other. On September, the six Labor Day that game will be in Atlanta, Texas. A and M They'll travel to Colorado and weak too. They'll be playing in Happy Valley against Penn State, and I'm just hoping we're able to get these crowds back. When we purchased the home we had a full point to refinance. Very sorry. The rate that was given to us So my question is what steps Should I take to move forward? I would like to lower my interest rates basically. Yeah, So, essentially, it's it's the simple is a phone call. Uh, you know, we have a conversation. Uh, take down some information on that. I send you what the refinance would look like. Um Your your brain. When we purchased the home it was about 500,000. We've I believe we have left about. 268 left to go. Okay, Well, what did you What? What did you find out? Five years ago. We What was the loan amount then Approximately The loan amount of approximately would have been have to look into the papers again. Hold on Just a second. I'm guessing about 2 80. Yes, Exactly. Okay, so At that point in time, your principal and interest payment just get going. Just using round numbers is about 2100 you owe to 68 now. Uh, the guy I'm just using round numbers, So just say, for example, you have. Ah, 2 78 load amount because your current reserve account is gonna get re funded back to you. So we have to set up a new reserve account refinances right now closing in February have a first payment in April. That's when the first half taxes to do so you set aside for taxes is going to be pretty high. But just to use the simple Matthew to 78 8275 eyes going to give you Hopes. Let me just do that. So 30 your payments about 13 80 currently on your payment would drop to 11 34. So about 200 on day $50 less if you were to apply that and just keep your payment exactly the same. The other was just make the exact same payment. You make you right now on the new mortgage it would pay off in just over 22 years. Now you could also switch it. Okay? You could also switch and go to a 20 year. Um Hmm. On that payment would be $100 Maury a month than what you're paying now. Okay. On Duhalde, you pay the loan off. Finally. 15 15 years breath. No. You with a 15 year depends. Well, it all depends what your budget allows for. If you're comfortable with that payment your 15 year payment approximately just to give you an idea. Uh, would be about five about about $450 more than you're paying now. So okay. And you know what I could do that I can give you a couple different for each Each bank. Is it like the rates are different for each bank? It's gonna be that's gonna be a little bit of variants. What you your rates and fees will vary from bank to bank the bank, depending on what they're depending on what the Business model list. Um, So that means with Washington Federal I like them is just I want to continue. You know the same relationship, not moving it. Oh, I'm just I'm just trying to understand how. As I said, my first time doing refinement. Never done it before, So I'm just trying to grasp the knowledge behind us. Yeah. Washing federals, a great bank. The move a portfolio Linda. I would say that the probably on the higher end of the spectrum rate wise. Well, that's been my experience. Everybody's experience, maybe a little bit different, but I would certainly Look at this look at different options because you know it does come down to When it comes to a mortgage. You make a payment each and every month whether goes to bank X or bank. A. It really doesn't make that much difference. So conversation with having figuring out what the goals are what your personal goals are, and then sort of setting it up in providing you with loan options. "Mark Davis. Not only is he showing his passionate Golden Knights games, but also at those Las Vegas aces games, and now he's going to be the owner of the Las Vegas aces. Can. Anybody who's ever been to a nation of game is probably seeing Mark Davis sitting down there, courtside first row watching watching those ladies play. He's been a big supporter of the ASIS since day one. And has really endeared himself, not only to the city of Las Vegas in general, but to that franchise specifically and has kind of become their you know their number one number one fan, so to speak, and for him, too. Take over the ownership role of that team. Just it really speaks volumes to the type of owner he wants to be in Las Vegas is not just the Raiders and now it's gonna be the aces and he's He's really becoming a Major public figure in the most positive kind of ways for the city in the sports scene, and I think that's something that you really need. You want to see. You want to see the owner of your your biggest franchise in the city out there in front of it all and doing everything he can to help support the city and what better way than that take over. I need this franchise who fell just a couple games short of winning it all that Steven and they do that without this campaign, the big center from Australia who was Albert Asia Wilson, I got to, uh, hang out with Asian. She, of course, made it into studio along with Jackie Young and they were hanging out here. We're talking before the season, then, ironically, end up playing in a Charity basketball game for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Lo and behold, who was the coach for my team was Asia. And I talked to John Maxwell Gigi his nickname and and John said that he's hoping that by the time the season rolls out that maybe we'll be able to have at least some time. It's some type of fan participation. But he's really looking forward to Mr Davis owning the team as well.
