"Cases in the cellar, Nikki skyrocketed, And today the region is the hardest hit in the country. It's impossible to say precisely how much events like this contributed to the current situation here because Birch, other nations. Greece doesn't have a good contact tracing scheme in place. But critics and supporters of the church alike say it would be unfair to put the whole blame on the church is in a logical but there's a Mr Places a priest at the church near Thessaloniki, he says. During the pandemic. Churches have been treated and judged more harshly than other parts of society, like he remembers on, the government started requiring churchgoers to wear masks and social distance. Other than Mr Place was taking the bus to work every day, his mask moments, people would wear masks, but the Busses were so full. It was impossible to social distance there, and meanwhile, people were allowed to crowd other places like bars and restaurants. He walked around outside without masks. Schools were happening in person. The country was open for tourism if Chris is in a persistent, But Mr Cleese also rejects criticism that the church didn't do enough to protect people. This is from the beginning of the pandemic, the church has complied with government measures, even ones that go against everything it stands for. It's difficult because what is being asked of the church is and pathetic Aeltus the way that it lives in the way that it exists. Nicholas Dancing goes a professor of theology at Valparaiso University in Indiana and in ordained deacon in the Orthodox Church of America, he says Covert 19 has created tension for the Orthodox Church globally, not just in Greece. It has adapted its been forced to, but that's just it's a struggle in Greece, though. The death of a senior clergymen this month has brought that struggle to the forefront. Metropolitan Bishop Janessa Vargas, the one you heard from the very beginning defending the spoon. He died after getting covert 19. He was also one of the priests presiding over that big service in the cellar Nicky last month now, but Athena sunstroke. Yet following his death, church leaders once again went on TV and pushed back against questions about the Holy Communion. But they weren't alone. Even an epidemiologist chimed in, young go you, Dr Sonali new said she wasn't aware of any evidence that shows the virus can spread through the communion spoon when pushed on that. She said. We can't solve spiritually matters matters of the Orthodox faith with logic right now. Churches are closed as part of the second national lockdown, but they could open as early as next week. Speedy the revenue support lucky for you that theologian and Athens says she expects to see the same course of action from the church. I don't think they're going to change their mind. They had their chance. The questions facing the church today, though, go well beyond Communion. How will the church respond to the economic and social suffering the pandemic is causing in this country. And how much will science guide their messaging when say a vaccine is rolled out? For now. I think it's a pool of people you says it seems much easier to argue over Ah holy spoon for the world on Lydia, mainly due in Athens, Greece. Ah High stakes who done it remains unsolved. Iranian nuclear scientists Mohsen factories a day was assassinated on Friday. Most experts of pointing the finger at Israel Whoever did it, it's going to make things much trickier for the incoming Biden administration as it navigates its Iran policy. L'ii Guaran Maya's a senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, S O L. E. A group of senior former European diplomat sent an open letter today calling on the EU to work with the incoming Biden administration to bolster the Iran nuclear deal that Trump walked away from The letter states. Any escalation in advance of Biden's inauguration would greatly complicate diplomatic efforts. What exactly are these diplomats warning about? Well, they're warning about exactly the sort of events that we saw unfold on Friday that proponents off President Trump's maximum pressure campaign against Iran are essentially going to be Using this last window of opportunity under this White House term to set minds and traps that are going to complicate diplomatic efforts between the next U. S administration and Iran. We know that President elect Joe Biden has already vowed during his campaign. To walk a path of diplomacy with Iran and specifically stated a desire to rejoin the transatlantic alliance on to recommit to the nuclear agreement with Iran on so I think what we're seeing at the moment is that in the final two months off the Trump administration, we are going to have Potentially back to back cycles of escalations in ways that push Iran into a corner to miscalculate on, perhaps ties, Biden's hands and poisons the diplomatic space for further negotiations once he takes over, offers. In the letter, The signatories outlined a number of frankly ambitious steps of Britain, France and Germany. The country's directly involved in the brokering of the nuclear deal with Iran steps they ought to take in the coming weeks, so Weekly walk us through the steps. What's the plan? Essentially, it's to pave a road map to revive and rehabilitate the nuclear agreement that has basically been on life support through a lot of I would say European efforts in the last four years to preserve the agreement on so I think one of the top priority lines here is that the Europeans Should coordinate a common policy that pushes for the Biden administration to quickly return to the nuclear deal with in the last few months remaining off the current President Rouhani administration in Iran on to use the political moment, um, created by the new election inside the U. S. To find ways with Iran to reverse the very troubling nuclear escalation that Iran has basically taken in the last year in response to the maximum pressure campaign from the Trump administration. Right. Well as you say, President Biden has said that he's ready and his quote was to walk the path of diplomacy. If Iran take steps to show it is ready to what steps is Europe, hoping to see from Iran in this regard? I think first and foremost, and it's actually I think something that probably the Biden camp will also want to see Is Iran quickly reversing nuclear steps that it has taken over the past year and a half that has increased its nuclear capabilities on shortened the so called breakout capability the time it takes for Iran. To produce a nuclear bomb if it chose to do so on. I think the second critical thing that they'll want to see is that Iran is open to build on this agreement to an extent where the world powers are not concerned about the acceleration of Iran's nuclear activities. L'ii Guaran. Maya is a senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. Speaking with us about the road ahead for the Biden administration and Iran thanks so much, Ellie problem, get to speak with you. You're listening to the world. It's 20 minutes after.

"Here in the big DFW. I hope your day is progressing. Well mine is awesome. Because I'm on the Dennis Prager show I am one showdown, and one to go. I finished my own morning program and boy, did we talk about some stuff. So I can only presume there's similar things that will resonate with you. The Jon Stewart moment, took on an interesting twist on this morning's local show here in Texas. I want to bring that to you, because the one layer deep analysis of this is that Jon Stewart on about a half a fan of. Daily show is a pretty amazing piece of work, politically is he you know, you live, of course, but is that means not talented nodes meaning stumbles across good point every once in a while. Sure. And it certainly seems that he has now and we'll talk about this today, and I'll play some of the remarkable testimony. He offered before a house subcommittee, but it is not without problems. And this issue is not without another side boil down in short-form in will expand on this. We got three hours everybody relax, it's all okay. One eight seven seven six one eight Prager seven seven six. Follow me on Twitter at Mark Davis shoot middle something check those during the commercial breaks come back and address some of the things you might bring up always Dennis Prager dot com, where you can listen live, and we can watch the spectacle via video here in our plush, but not overly ostentatious studios in Irving, Texas hard by the eastern border of DFW. Airport. Speaking of airports, and travel and such I join you today, and we'll be together Tuesday of next week in the middle of the Dennis Prager European river, cruise across Europe. I think he's doing a little France action and how funny is this? I am freshly returned from my own European adventure, a vacation based, the destination was Italy. And we've made quite the habit of Italy. And I've got some things to share with you about that country about that culture of things. I saw built to the glory of God, about a country where I will bet you, I will bet you that you will not see vans driven by jihadists plowing down pedestrians in Florence, okay? Or Rome or Venice or along the amalfi coast. Nope. That's a France thing. That's a Germany thing. That's an England thing that's Sweden thing. And by that, I broadly mean of these countries have paid such scant attention to who is coming in that they are overrun their absence. It's funny because there a couple of ways to look at this anybody that comes into any other country wanting to assimilate but wanting to maintain their identity and yet wanting to, to become part of the country, is their new home. I'm all about that. That's great. But a lot of these folks who have been spent the last couple of generations, plowing into London, Paris, Stockholm, or excuse me flowing into plowing into quite the Freudian slip. They have zero interest. I mean, what they want to set up allow butchers on every corner. They, you know, I don't know what extent everybody's trying to pound sharia law down. Everybody's throats that's probably kind of an easy glib Goto. But the bottom line is John Cleese himself of Monty python fame, the liberals liberal, Mr. Cleese said London is not a British city anymore, and he is right? This is not your grandfather's London. This is not your grandfather's such a father's London. Your father's Paris. Your father's Munich your father's Stockholm. But you know what? It's your great grandfather's Italy. It is your great, great, great, grandfather's Italy. There might as well be a sign at the border of Italy at every airport, every Rhode coming in, and saying, hi, welcome to Italy. Guess what? We're all Italian here. Guess what else we're all Christian here for the most part, anybody with a tough time with either of those turn right around and what to talion for head right back where you came from. 'cause this is us. This is our unity. This is our culture. This is our identity. These are borders. We're Italy deal with it. That is that countries attitude, and I love it. I love American diversity. The concept of American diversity. Everybody can come from anywhere in become American. I can't go to Italy and become Italian. I struggle with language a little in, you know, in tour the cathedral's, but I can't go and become a talion. I can't go to Germany and become German, but people can come here and become American. It's what makes us strong and great. And our diversity is a good thing up to the point at which it is hijacked, and co opted and turned into something that is not what are found is intended. That is not what else island was about. And that's about a bunch of people coming here for God knows why whether it's economic or outright, sinister or just lethargic in its appreciation of our culture. Our borders, our history, our constitution, you can have that kind of immigration immigration is not what it was, you know, fifty years ago hundred years ago. It's just. Not and. Doll, and we ran into by the way, number of Italians who Trump is the greatest thing since since a penny. Add add, unless it wasn't unanimous. It is still Europe. Don't pretend there's you know, they're wearing maga- hats and in Tuscany. But it was really interesting as we traveled various, we, we flew into gentlemen, spent a little time in those five little towns of the chink query along, the Liguori Ann, coast means five lands from Monteiro to Cornelia to ver not set Arolla to rea-, majori believe you me. I know that from the train stops. And, and then we went into Tuscany, they'll place called villa Doni this close to gravy, and Chianti. And then the last few days in Florence actual medium to big sized city sauce, amazing things spoke to some wonderful people. But whereas if you pick a hundred people at random in London, or Paris, you might not find a lot of Trump fans. We found us Trump fans and you have to understand when we were there we were there as President Trump was in Europe, for, for the seventy fifth anniversary of d day. And when I look at that mayor said Khan. When I when I look at this guy is mayor of London dog on Trump, even to like Trump. I don't care what he thinks Trump, but you are bagging on the United States of America, sir, you are bagging on the office of the presidency. We saved your country's hide seven and a half decades ago. Kenya show, a some appreciation, please. The Royal family was great. And even contains a members that aren't real love fun of Trump. They managed as zip their lips about it. Thanks so much. So anyway, I, I had stories based on Denis's, right? And that. Get out of America. We want to see some other places because it will make you appreciate things. It's funny for for Italy. In particular it back John Stewart first responders and all that here in a second. And if you already know where I'm going on that gives the buzz one eight Prager seven seven six one eight Prager seven seven six anytime. We take the family and going any kind of international travel, we always come back, missing America loving America grateful for America even more. And yet. When in Italy in particular. Their unity, and that's kind of where I was going three minutes ago. I love American diversity, but it's been weaponized. There is something unbelievably magnificent. And by the way, not everybody was white, Italy is filled with some ethnic diversity to be short. But everybody was talian. Than the about ninety percent mechanic, and there's something about that. You know, they, they don't have a whole lot of hand wringing about this religious minority, or this ethnic minority, or this, this guy who thinks he's a gal or this guy who thinks he's a living room table, is having just dysphoric issues and end of the world needs to stop for me just doesn't happen over there. It just doesn't everybody's over there, being Italian everybody's over there being Catholic. And then when you walk into some of these buildings when you walk into the basilic the basilica of San Lorenzo and the, the meta chapels attached to that. That's another whole story of the basilica center Maria novella. And you see these things that people built think back to the Notre Dame fire. The Notre Notre Dom fire think back to the cathedral of Notre, and it gave us kind of an opportunity to visit and refresh ourselves what people built to the glory of God just centuries and centuries ago, and they didn't have power tools. They didn't have electricity. There was. But that flying buttress Luigi I need a little help on this cable. No, they did it to the glory of God. And I wish we had a fragment of that in American culture today. More more broadly dispersed than it is on five different ranch at once consolidate analyze with your help at one eight seven seven six. Mark Davis in for Dennis got a lot.
