"There's a little man who played for washington remember that little man degree narrow green is like what like five nine what he was another smaller right there hall of fame. You can do it a lot of different way right. So here's what. I think just happened. Jerry jones hired mike mccarthy and he gave him carte blonde she said you pick your staff you pick your coordinating and you know what mike did. He reached back into his past for mike. Nolan who wants voter time had given him. Job is an offensive coordinator when mike was the head coach in san francisco. So of nepotism not exactly related but football related. Where i owe you. I'm going to get you paid. I'm going to get you. I'm gonna pull you out of mothballs app out of the addict. I'm going to dust you off. And i'm going to give you the defensive coordinator job of the dallas cowboys. America's team and shannon disaster from the start every free agent that jerry had handpicked rebelled on him turned on him to the point that at midseason jerry had to say i gotta clean house. Because i got a mutiny. Oh my hands locker room. So every one of those free agents gone gone gone gone because they said this is not the way you do it in wrestling because they'd all had success other place under other coach. So jerry said okay mic. I gave you your shot. Now it's my turn. And he goes out and takes the guy who happens to be on the open market. This guy's name is dan quinn. And what had happened to dan. Quinn in washington. Well he became the head coach in two thousand fifteen and he is a defensive coach because he earned his spurs. He gained his fame. Coaching the legion. Abhu greg wait a second. Did he pick those players and mould those flares into what they know. No was the original architect critically so it was already in motion and emplaced when dan quinn took all jars mount. Mp carol pick those play okay. Thank you very much so just quickly to show you the background of one dan quinn. He played at salisbury state maryland. Fine i'll give you that. And he's from morristown new jersey. But then he goes to william and mary as an assistant and via my and hofstra for awhile but finally he gets mariuchi and san francisco to hire him as though quality control coach. Where you know what that is. That's still bottom in guy. Who just he's he. Does the legwork staple and papers together you playing okay but it got him in the door of the nfl and then he goes. The dolphins and the jesse goes briefly to seattle with jim mora and then he goes to florida college football with must champ. Who's a close friend of his the dc and then he goes back to seattle and you know the rest of that legion of boom story for twenty thirteen and fourteen and then here he comes to atlanta here. His defensive ranks in points allowed. While he's with the atlanta falcons. He's overseeing the he's effectively be as the dc atlanta ranks starting twenty fifteen fourteenth twenty-seventh than eight twenty fifth twenty and in the last year. Twenty twenty last year nineteenth. So that's an average of ranking nineteenth in the nfl in points allowed in somehow your guru of really even in the year they got to super bowl they ranked twenty seven hundred. And it was matt ryan in the bombs away to leo so my question is if you will type of defensive player you wanna long angular guy. Why didn't you get those in atlanta. And if you did why would any none like that in atlanta that i know of no one. I don't wanna uk. But from what. I know of dan quinn. He is very charismatic. In can be very overpowering. One on one..

"Etc. And i remember playing against them. Rows with the jets. And here's what the chargers and played a couple times against each other and it. I couldn't make has details of if he's trying to be cool guy this how he is or you know what. What's the deal with them and You know after we start having many kamson and then we go into training camp. And then i realized that he is the real deal man he he is. Awesome the real deal. Yeah it was a commitment. Was it verbal was it just. I mean certain guy. You know jonathan. There may be four guys in the locker room that our leaders now that that the locker room can have all sorts of talent. What wasn't about his leadership. He was when you talk about the process you know diving into the process fall in love with the process. He's always the first person i think of view was the shining example of falling in love with the process. You know great story. I have is when talking about many camping training camp. When we do our walk throughs we would have the walk through and all five receivers go out on route. He would throw it to one receiver. Let's say it was marcus colston. And then he would literally go and vision himself throwing up the other four receivers and not just like alright a slow little throw. It was as if he were still. He still had the ball. And with douse. The i read. And he would move his feet. He gets shoulder square. He throw ball elbow up everything and he did this every day for six years. I was there for six years. And i know he's still did it when i wasn't there and it was when i couldn't believe it. And then you you talk about the process of being there. The first one there all the time and the the way that he approached the game never got too high on the highs. Never too low on the lows it was always about the process fallen off the process and he was that guy made a shining example of it. Yeah we were talking about free agency in seven biggest contracts in the last few years none of them hit. And i always said i don't love the messaging for free agency that i'm gonna bring a guy into my locker room and pay more than ninety five percent of my locker room. What am i telling my current players. And i i wouldn't at fox did that and brought somebody in. I would ask the same question in your career in the nfl. Did you ever sense that. Words like menu won't pay this guy but you're paying a guy from another team that does it sometimes rub guys wrong way. It rubs guys the wrong way when you don't know the other intangibles of that player on if you have a great leader in the locker room in the i think this is the part. That's always missed by or the disconnect between front office and players and coaches. You can have a guy that he may not be the top player at his position but what he does for the rookies how he keeps everyone in. Check the the intangibles value that he has a leader. That's what the guys start to question because you're not just taking away good player. He's obviously good because is in the nfl. You're removing that leader. And now you bring in a big money guy and we question as players. Okay what is he gonna bring to the table. Besides the athleticism right. You can say okay. He's making plays. That's great but if he's a headache if he's always late if he doesn't practice are if we have to sit here and constantly baby him to get out there and play. It's like you should have just thrown that money back at the guy we had previously and fortunately never with the saints. I never had A scenario like that it was. We drafted well. We did well in in free agency. Didn't have to let go of you know really solid guy to bring in someone a headache so that that didn't happen but i can imagine going against the or not going against but Being with guys that you had a relationship with them and you know they bring to the table as far as leadership and then all of a sudden. They're gone because of the money. And then now you're bringing someone else and it's like you thought you did better and you really didn't because all the other things off the field are headache force. You know. it's funny. Russell wilson seattle. There's a lot of rumors and joy join. i are takeaways. Listen brady and belichick never went to dinner once in twenty years. Get over it. Who says you have to love your boss. I mean i'm sorry but pete and rosser good for each other. I mean let's be honest. John didn't probably love every defensive coordinator. I mean there's tension in locker rooms between players and coaches all the time. Isn't there of course that's what i love about football because it teaches you and it's similar to the game of life you don't act to love everybody in this whole coon by. Everyone thinks it's like coon by day in the locker room for teams. That are winning. Oh man of course you have issues. Yeah problems like when we won the super bowl. I remember on our run to the super bowl. We had multiple fights in the locker. No no joke. Multiple fights in the locker room. And you know what. You view squabble. It out and you know things happen and then you move on right because that. That's what family does. A real family is not always sitting there. Everything's on the up and up and it's all good real families. They have issues they have squabbles. They have visas. They figured out they talk through it. Sometimes they fight through it but at the end of the day. They don't let it affect the main goal. And so when you look at wilson an mp. Carol yeah okay. They don't like each other so like you said who cares. They figure out a way to win. They want a ton of games together. Russell wilson's one of the best quarterbacks in the game p the best coaches in the game they found a way to make it work and really the only people making worse are us right the media. We're the ones still talking about it because we're not in that locker room understanding those dynamics. Hey what does circling back to new orleans. James is very productive. Passer takes some is a very quirky natural athlete. Although to me doesn't feel like sixteen seventeen game franchise guy if you had if you had to guess today who's their starter next year james and that's what it feels like to me jason. I watch taste him. So what always happens with new quarterbacks four or five games to have last success and then you'll see them kind of You know. I don't wanna say falter. But they kinda just don't have as much production and all you need is a defensive coordinator coaches players on the defensive side. You need time to watch film on right and now you can start to break them down and now you gain tendencies and now you know k. Tasting hill third and shore. It's a sweet sweet sweet. We already know this right. We already know i. It's taken down. If he's gonna pass is going to be either a deep ball or it's going to be three outside right so when you start to learn these these little tendencies of the players now you can start to really game plan for them. And so that's when i look at the longevity of tasting hill you can gain platform after about five or six games and it's going to be the same stuff and it's gonna be real easy. The problem is really chimera. And michael thomas so when i look at james winston i seen them have success. He threw for five thousand yards. Yes he led the nfl interceptions. But he's still do for five thousand yards. And that's after everyone had seen film matra film tape after tape of what he can and can't do. So if you look at the quarterbacks that sean payton this ad in his career and i know we look at him and drew brees a lot and drew brees. They'd throw interceptions at times. I would find it. Very very hard to fathom jameis winston going out there and throwing as many interceptions as he did with the bucks. And i'm looking saying cut that in half let's get him down instead of thirty interceptions fifteen interceptions with five thousand yards. That's a damn good.
Seattle Seahawks Today: Latest Rumors On A Russell Wilson Trade
"Originally or a few a few weeks ago russell. Wilson's camp released some information that he was unhappy in seattle. They have not formally requested a trade but it seems like the relationship has some conflict there. he has a no trade clause in his contract. There were specific exemptions from four. Team's the cowboys. The saints the bears and las vegas after dak prescott signed is extent like talked about and the raiders recently have back derek carr. They've given their full support. They they wanna move forward their cars. So that really leaves the saints and the bears as the final two candidates for possibly getting russell wilson this offseason so saints are always in salary cap trouble From what. I've learned about the salary cap they can. They ended up being able to just move money around when they need to. But they're always close to reaching that point so they're always during the cat but it seems unlikely that they will be able to make a move for quarterback this price in this caliber. So when you re comes down to it. The bears like the front runners as the most desperate team. Four quarterback if you've watched the nfl shares have always had quarterback issues. They've been in quarterback hell so to speak for the past two decades and russell. Wilson could come in and immediately fix that so the bears are desperate. And i see the bears as the front running candidate to lead russell wilson or land russell. Wilson this offseason. So when did all this start with russell. wilson is come out of nowhere I would say to myself when i first saw. Russell wilson wants out. I was shocked. But although it's not that cut and dry comes down to russell wilson. Mp carol's relationship. So they've won a superbowl. They made playoffs made. They made the playoffs. Eight times in the last nine seasons which is absurd. It's absurd to think there was wasn't been playing in the nfl for the last nine seasons But he's been assault as they come. He's true winner. he goes to the playoffs. he's clutch and i see. The situation is very similar to the tom. Brady situation new england. You had tom brady and bill play for all those years. Winning all those super bowls and talk. Although tom brady wasn't playing up to his level he wasn't playing bad and they had that loss to the titans of the playoffs. And i think he just had those two egos bill. Belichick and tom brady kind of going at each other. And they've they've finally kind of just tired of that relationship and they wanted to move on. They wanted to start. Something new. And when quarterbacks are with the head coach for so long things start to take a turn for the worst so. I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening with p carroll and russell wilson but there are a lot of similarities there so it was reported in week. Eleven of the season. That wilson stormed out of an offensive meeting when he was trying to offer insight as to what he wanted done as on a bit done for protection standpoint and so that was the first sign the second sign is just overall. He's been getting hit way. Too much. says he's sacked. He's been three hundred ninety four times since entering the league which is on pace to be the most sat quarterback of all time which is pretty insane when you consider how well he's played and he's just been under duress running for his life literally for the last his whole career and so seattle hasn't found a way to kind of sure up that protection for him. I think that's starting to get frustrating as well. So but more specifically in two thousand twenty. He had a week nine loss to the bills. This was a defining moment for this offense offense because after that moment. Russell wilson had started to throw a lot of turnovers making a lot of risky plays they lose to the bills. The seahawks kind of started to scale the offense back like i said to limit turnovers and did not perform well for the rest of the season so before that game. They were top. Three league based on expected points added per play. They were the number three the top three leak and then after that game from from weeknight on they felt a number eighteen the remainder of the season. So that's a huge huge drop off so they really sputtered down the stretch. They were able to win games and make the playoffs through to their defense. Kind of picking picking up. Their play was weird. Their offense was so good in the beginning the defense awful and he kind of flipped that latter half of the year but he's also getting hit It doesn't seem to meet on their offensive loss of beat philosophy and he. He's definitely voiced that he wants more of a say. In the franchise direction as the franchise quarterback so all these things culminating into one is. Where would he end up.

"I believe a potential out next year where they wouldn't have to eat as much money so maybe it is a an inevitability russia's going to change teams whether it's now our three hundred fifty or sixty five days from now give or take before next year's league year and and if they were going to make a move they might make it sooner. But what what do you think. How do we get to this point with rusty and i heard him on dan. Patrick i understand. He's been the most sacked quarterback in the last nine or ten years. Some of that. I think is on him but how did he in a city that loves them in a team that he has been the most important player on that team now for a decade. How they gotten to this point a couple of things. Well i mean the one. He's been most vocal about recently is a offensive line and and feeling like he has taken too many sacks and take it too many hits and he does have a point bear. But you know the devil's advocate would argue that. His his own style puts him at risk and a lot of those sacks aren't necessarily on his offensive line there more on him but that's really a gray area. It's hard to you know unless you're actually his position coach or you know exactly what is supposed to be taking place on every place a little bit hard to make those come to those conclusions on your own without knowing exactly what was supposed to happen on any given player. What his reasoning is but there are critics of him would say that he does it to himself and it's not even necessarily the talent of seattle's offensive line as much as he would make it out to seem so the teams to be part of it and then you know i also think this happens to a lot of different players and coaches and we saw this happen with aaron rodgers mike mccarthy at some point they just kind of hit a wall in their relationship and you know aaron didn't feel like he had any ownership of that offense and mike lewis mad because aaron kept changing his plays and they were just not an agreement came to a point where that relationship was not going to get fixed and so. I don't think it's unique to russell. Mp carol her unique to russell in that organization. But you know it feels like the relationship. There may be a crossroads where russell feels like. He didn't have any input in the offense last year or he did up until a certain point. And then you know. Pete decided that things weren't working anymore and went back to the old way. So i think that's really the heart of it and you know it's not unique to seattle. This happens other places too. Sometimes you just kind of reach a point where you can't really work with someone anymore. So what was funny. Though was his agent mark rogers. Let's adam schefter know the teams that he would be willing to go to and like stealing dan. Patrick's line that He said on his show that this is like going home to your wife and san. Look i wanna stay together. But if you're gonna leave me then. These are the four women that i'd like to start dating so Why the cowboys. I get although. I don't think anything's going to happen there. Because i i do think deal get worked out with dock one way or the other And then why.

"The second overarching question is how to prevent developing countries from becoming permanent greenhouse for the variants. Some of which will be more dangerous and inevitably make their way around the planet the ethical case for assisting poorer nations with vaccination is of course compelling and underpins the covid nineteen vaccines global access or kovacs scheme by the end of twenty twenty. One kovacs aims to if administered two billion doses. His pope francis in august weighing in to make this moral case territory. It would be sad. If the rich are giving priority for the cogan nineteen vaccine would be sad. If this vaccine became the property of this that nation it is not universal and for everyone but the achievement of this objective is not just an altruistic goal successful vaccine rollouts in the developed nations will not stop the virus mutating elsewhere high case rates. Remember a what. The virus loves best as it itches to mutate and it is not fussy about where on the surface of the planet. It does so in principle. This is common ground. You will often hear it said by ministers public health officials in their counterparts around the world that nobody is safe until everyone is safe. Here in the united kingdom the birthplace of epa jenna pie. The world's first vaccine we are determined to do everything in our power to work with our friends across the un to heal divisions to heal the world so much for the statements of fine intent. The fact remains that one hundred thirty countries has still not received a single vaccine days. Seventy five percent of vaccines administered so far have been confined to ten countries at the science technology. Select committee meeting last week. The scottish nationalist. Mp carol monaghan pressed nadeem zaha we the vaccine deployment minister on this very point. I think our interest is the world's interests which is to protect as many people as rapidly as possible. Obviously our priority has to be any party has to be the safety and protection of its own citizens and that's exactly my focus and the team's focused on both supply and deployment but nevertheless it is equally. Which why it was. The inception of the backseat toss was the remit was both a. You're secure the vaccines the uk but also think about and secure and help the rest of the world of because until everybody safe The the virus will continue to spread. And that's why so important. Which is why the prime lead on this at the g. Seven as well. You can feel the hallways squirming between two positions on the one hand. The absolute priority of vaccinating uk citizens on the other the strategic pointlessness of doing so unless the rest of the world is vaccinated to at this the fact that developing nations may end up with vaccines unused by richa countries. That quickly made redundant or at least less potent by variants. The wealthy nations use the reengineer jobs. The less affluent have to make do the leftovers and me downs with the result. That even more mutations may arise in their territories in the end the distinction between domestic and foreign strategy against kobe is a false dichotomy. It's one single campaign fought on countless terrains. In bewildering variety of ways populist governments hate this they hate uncertainty. they like simple answers to complex questions. They wanted to get brexit done and they did now. They want to get covid done and see the vaccine as the means of doing so except that one of the defining characteristics of lethal virus perhaps the defining characteristic is uncertainty and unpredictability. Along corona virus has not yet mutated in such a way that it escapes vaccine protection and there is no intrinsic reason to think that it is going to bought it might. That's the point and that's what everybody involved in the campaign against covid has to behave as if it is going to happen. This is how professor wendy barclay of imperial college. London put it the same select committee meeting. I don't think we will see a complete escape. I think that what we will see is that we'll see a gradual loss vickers e and at some point. We will need to make a decision. About how low does that miss much go before. We need to update the vaccine at a time. When ministers instinct to waive the british flag and talk of businesses reopening families reunited and summer holidays. This is a tough constraint to accept they yearn to make unconditional promises inc release dates indelibly into the calendar and get the country ready for the party of the century. But they can't they just. Can't this vicious virus lost the battle of the vaccine but has not yet conceded defeat in the war. It has unfinished business with humanity and will haunt us all the frenzied sleepless forces of evolution to come out on top even now in the us investigating the latest stunt pulled by this tiny serial killer a recombination event whereby two variants of joined forces the kentish version and a new californian flavor to form a specially mutated hybrid. It's too early to say if this synthesis is responsible for the recent spike of cases seen in los angeles but the discovery of the first recombination of covid nineteen isn't a happy omen or does it might sound most of the government figures. I spoke to in preparing the story. Steered me towards realism. They know that the vaccine is a big success story but they've learned to fear complacency the hard way in the words of one cabinet minister. I feel bad about this but there are times when i want to warn people not to get too cheerful too soon. The jab is a miracle but it's not the end the story he's right. The mutants is still.

"When it goes all the way to the top. How do you turn around the trends like that? If Mr McNair called you and asked you for some advice, what would you give him? Um You gotta change everything like you know, you've basically got a step aside, You got to get rid of, you know the handpicked guys that you literally just pick to take over the team and start fostering a partnership with the guy was most important player. In the organization. But I think if he wanted to hear that he would not have done all this in the first place and they would be in this situation. You know, I think that that's something that He doesn't want to hear, and he's not gonna hear it, even if somebody directly said that home so it it seems like a situation that is kind of unsalvageable because once once the owner and the player across pads, I mean I don't know how you come back from that with a month. You know, One of the two of them is willing to sort of eat crow. And I think in this case, the players and the right and it seems far less likely that the owner will be crowed in the player would So I don't know how you get back from that in Seattle. It's a different situation of a far less hands on ownership situation and basically comes down to the coach running the franchise, the face of the franchise. He's the head of personnel as well as being the guy on the sidelines. All 16 weeks during the regular season. Um, which of the two situations is easier to fix? If there is to be a reconciliation? Is it easier in Seattle, where you don't have an owner whose hands on or is it easier down in Houston, where one guy can basically dictate things might not work out for the best, But he can certainly make a decision and say, No, we're going this way. I think it's way easier to sell them in Seattle just because they've had a lot of stuff together before, and that's not really the case and Houston. There's also you know more of a pre existing relationship in Seattle specifically between Russ and MP Carol. You know there's not really a preexisting relationship between the film Watson and Kallick there, you know Bob McNair was the owner before that, and it's not necessary like he had the greatest relationship with players, either. It's something there's no sort of. There's nothing to fall back on, like, Oh, remember in 2013. When everything was good, like the Seahawks have, you know, it's also like Do you two of the seven year old coaches? A 30 year old quarterback That seems like a pretty easy choice to me. Um, but when I do you choose the owner or the 25 year old quarterback. I mean, I think the owner is gonna choose the owner. Every time. Yeah, that's pretty much a given. We're talking to General Dubin from CBS. Sports Star comment If I'm right here with us on CBS sports radio there certainly further down the road with the corn. If it comes to, uh, the mindset of the owner, as you suggested it should and probably will, But it's irreparable and they can't go backwards and they do have to trade Did you want watch into this part? They told anybody who will listen. Well, that's nice that his name keeps coming up. We have no plans on trading him at some point that narrative about to change their position has to change. It probably needs to come down before the draft. Where exactly Two months away from the draft. How does Houston layout this timeline? At what point did they want to say Alright? This isn't gonna work. We have to admit it. We have to do what best that we can cling to and tell the universe. We're not trading them, but buying closed doors for as long as we can keep it behind closed doors. We're going to ferret out what kind of deal we can make. When do you think that process begins? I mean, I think there's one of two times I think it's either happened, you know, right around the start of free agency or the right around the few days leading up to the draft, you know those air kind of a time where He was gonna be deciding what their quarterback situation is going to be, Um, you got you want to get it done before that, because obviously want to be able to get your replacement for just Sean Washing whoever that is. I think, ideally, you want to get into the top two or three picks in the draft, so that I mean, ideally, you want to get the number two if you can so that you get you know the best non Trevor Laurence quarterback on the board. Whoever you decide, that is Um, if the Sean doesn't want to go to the Jets, that gets a little bit more complicated because you're looking at trading him somewhere else and then packaging. You know additional assets to try to move up the board and that gets more difficult, especially if the jet you want to be there and take a quarterback in the first place. Um, but, I mean, I think that those are sort of the two different timelines. You know, teams are gonna be looking to fill their quarterback of the future spot in free agency. Unless they're thinking we can get somebody in the draft. In that case, you say, hey, would you rather the Sean watching instead? And then we can pick in your spot. So those air sort of the two different routes taken go? I think, speaking of the draft. If this were a normal NFL year, we would have just wrapped up the combine in Indianapolis. And there'd be a heck of a lot more draft buzz on because Guys would move up and move down with their performance on the stopwatch under watch the ball the scout. Well, it's got they're gonna have to do without this year, and that puts an extra effort this unproved day workouts. I'm sure the scouts aren't happy about it because the more information is always the better information. Are there Is there a specific teams are all Ghoshal parts? A team the group of teams. Did you think arm or well suited to take advantage of this handy Capt. Evaluative Year Or Is it basically the same for everybody? I think it's probably just the teams that have more picks are gonna wind up doing better. The draft is an inexact science in the first place. And you know the best way to not necessarily defeat it. But the game it is to give yourself a many rolls of the dice is possible and that obviously involved having more and more pics. You get Seems that out, you know, instead of just seven picks want anyth round If they've got compensatory picks that they got for losing for agents, or if they've got you know additional picks from trading players in the past. I think those were going to be the team that are best positioned to come out. You know, with the right players quote unquote from this draft just because they have more chances to do it. And when you're working with less information, it's always better to give yourself more rolls of the dice. That said. I think teams with, you know, strong analytics department. Might have sort of a leg up to just because if you're not getting, you know the work out, you have to rely on something else. Everybody scouting the same games. So you need to have, you know a little bit extra oven edge. And if you have teams that are looking into sports, science or things like that, you know if you have Players that are not running the 40 yard dash, for example. But you want to know how fast the player is. You know you have your analytics department call up and say, You know how fast is the chip on his shoulder pads that he was running in a game? And then you could sort of use that as a zoo. A proxy for the 40 instead of you know something at an actual work out, So it seems that we're looking at different kinds of information, I think might have a leg up to Jared Dubin, NFL writer for CBS sports dot com. Our guests here on CBS Sports Radio. All right, we had a pretty good turnover. Two top of NFL teams this offseason a bunch of paid coaching changes. Of the group that is starting a new.

"I can cook. But if you could sue Chef it for me, that would be really, really good. I'd really prefer the things got better. So there's the The telling of the story of he MP Carol Talking about what the offense should be What the offense should look like. And whether they are a run first team like Pete Carroll believes and running the ball and controlling the clock, which is weird, considering that after Marchand Lynch left It's not like Seattle has had a great running game with their running back. Russ adds to them being a good running team because of some of the things that he's able to do. I imagine it at this point in Russell's career where you're 10 years in and believe it or not. Russia's 33 years old, we were not talking about 28 year old Russell Wilson 33. Because, remember, he had the extra year college gives you transferred. So he was a little bit of an older guy when he got drafted Tom Brady's out here 10 years older. Then Russell Wilson still winning Super Bowls, but they go about it in a very different way winning football games so I can imagine that the rust might enjoy. Well, maybe I just I want to do some of the horizontal running tow open up windows to throw the ball, but not some of the vertical running like Lamar Jackson is out here doing at this point. In my career. Do you have them coming to heads a couple of times in the 2000 and 20 season. Remember the first eight games of the season, Russell Wilson looked like he was going to be the M V P of the league, and then they had that disastrous game against Buffalo. In week eight. And then things kind of spiral downward to them. Not being there in the playoffs, so I mean, it's Them being them being not being the same team that they usually are in the playoffs, So you have them working their way towards an underwhelming season. For the Seahawks. You have them being a team that you just go on, man. What happened to Seattle? They look like the team that might represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and there's Tom Brady standing there representing the team. In the Super Bowl. How do you get here? How do you get from? Russell Wilson being Russell Wilson being the team guy. And even that is a little bit loaded. Him being the guy that is the forward face of the Seattle Seahawks franchise. Him being the guy that always seems to say the right thing. And by the right thing, I mean nothing. Interviews with Russell Wilson are How can I put this diplomatically? Usually boring. There's a lot of cliches, he says it with a smile. So here's what I'll give you example, the type of interview that Russ is Russia's The interview that as if you're inside a locker room or you're at the rushes at the podium And you're listening to it. At the time you're going all man, This is good stuff. And then you get back to your desk and you listen to the tape. You're like he didn't say a damn thing. There's nothing in here. But we just have to get better. And we're we're doing our best every week to get better. It's funny because I do a pretty good Russell Wilson impersonation mainly because our cadence is very similar. We're also the same height. Don't think that actually adds to the impersonation, but I understand where he's coming from my parents or college professors, too. So We sound a lot of like, I think I have more compelling things to say at least until this past month. Then Russ got really compelling after that, when he went on the Super Bowl tour. Started talking. What fascinates me. About this situation with Russ. He's here's the guy that kind of Hmm. Had done it in an ideal ized way at quarterback. He was winning games. He's an electric player. He's one of the more dynamic players in the NFL. You. You watch him. You watch some of the stuff that he does. He's doing three sixties and packed fields and throwing the ball 40 yards down the field. He's making good decisions until the half way mark of the 2020 season where he started making decisions and we were like what the is going on with Russ. He doesn't put your franchise in a bad spot. He doesn't put your franchise in a bad light. He's very calculating when he's behind the microphone. He He understands how to play the game off, not saying much but seeming accessible. And for the most part throughout his career, he's done enough. He's done enough Tol. Maybe even have some of his teammates go. Are you with us, or you with them, meaning management ownership. I think some of that is subsided. You had a very vocal Loud and talented defense that got the Seahawks to where they were competing for Super Bowls. And then rush was right there to be able to bring at least one home. Then the other one, you know. There's a goal line play, and there's Malcolm Butler and whatever. He has, from a corporate standpoint, if we were talking about a takeover Russ has succeeded in the take over. Over the locker room. Not there the way that Seattle defensive players have publicly or kind of hinting around their feelings from about Russell Wilson. Think can be delicate to discuss. Because I think some of the changes that happened for the defense of players as they kind of fell off like Cam Chancellor and Michael Bennett and Richard Sherman, you could make the argument that he was probably time for those players to move on. You could also make the argument that Russ was going to eat up all the money. So those guys on the defensive side we're not going to be able to get theirs. But if you're looking at the Seahawks locker room as a corporate entity, you could see how Russ came in and took it over. And he became his.

"He'll be eligible to return in week nine we urge these rumors before about a potential. ABC to Seattle move we've seen a be working out with Russ. So Brandon in work out with the raiders or with the Patriots, we all know why. So we have to wonder would be a good fit with the seahawks and if so why here? Why Now? Absolutely two names Russell Wilson MP Carol. It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen Pete Carroll. He built his entire system around the people in that building strengths. When you go to other teams is really stale there's no swaggers no sauce there's no excitement when you walk into a Pete Carroll team meeting, there's music playing people running around the place balls being shot on a basket. It's one of the most amazing things Pete Carroll will come up to you if you're natch yourself and say listen guy I did not bring you here to be somebody else this is perfect for Antonio Brown. Now, there are boundaries he will tell you just don't hurt the team now obviously we've. been talking about this for entire year Antonio Brown or something that you just can't do. So I'm confident that this guy is doing everything it takes to make sure he's putting himself and the team in a better situation where he's back on the field. But when he goes to another team, the first thing they're going to say like Antonio, Brown tell me about twitter tell me about instagram what's your thoughts on Youtube or you WanNa post winter you're going to post how are you going to pose? That's not even going to be a conversation around around Antonio when he walks in Seattle, they're just going to say look if you WANNA post fine. Actually, we want you to post peak carols. Phone on a practice fiance man I love what you tweet it last night. So Antonio Brown can be himself Russell. Wilson. You got to think about the characters that was around him when he was drafted there I think this would be a good fit? I. Think. There's other places out there that he would fit well but his at the at the end of the day is going to be on Antonio Brown how he approaches things when he gets back out there. Yeah Yeah that structure in New England and it's didn't quite workout. So Nick, let me ask you this though if he does lead. Who then who is true? The more explosive offense, the Seattle seahawks where they be in Ross or your Kansas City chiefs. See You. Guys always put me in this position you guys are worn. In these conversations humorist. The alternate homer. We know what the answer is. The answer would be the chiefs like. The chiefs have the better quarterback. Russ is great. The only quarterback football better than Ross is the one that plays in Kansas City. They have the better number, one receiver tyreek Hill and both teams were just adding as a once great. All PRO steeler that we don't yet know exactly what they have left in on belony Antonio Brown. So the answer you can say, Oh, my goodness all you want brandon but in your heart, you know the answer to. The Jason. In the better running backs and they've the better receiving core. So the answer's the chiefs I think it's the most predictable I think it's the most predictable answer nick. I really do I think the Seattle seahawks they're more explosive. You can look at the numbers they have more explosive touchdowns Nick your stat guy you like numbers. That's the true now yeah. Of course, you got all these toys and you have homes but the ways the Seattle seahawks is built is run run run and take a shot. They only have Tyler Lockett in a slot to do two things. That's it. Everything else is down the field. SEATTLE seahawks has the most explosive offense. Break. I think you're right. I think you're right. Well, I think the answer is the seahawks but I'm still on your side and here's why the seahawks are like a sneaker head with like no socks on it's like Oh. That's really great but there's a glaring thing that's kind of disgusting about the fact that the seahawks defense is so terrible necessitates them having an explosive offense there allowing four, hundred, seventy, one yards, a game, they all three, hundred, seventy yards through the air, which means if you're a quarterback you come in and play the seahawks throwing for three hundred, fifty yards, you had a bad game. So the alter so bad defense giant. Three words for you. Know shows socks let's move onto baseball resume sponsored by indeed. Upload Your Resume Today Brandon Lau. Break Gnat who season slump last night not one two opposite field home runs in the rays game to win task sticking with him never dropped him down that lineup. "You can pre-order it now. It'll be out. July ninth as you can tell by this conversation, some fantastic stuff in there for you, so thank you guys so much and I look forward to catching up and down the road. They sit good luck. I bucket. We teased it. We sold it and I think it lived up to the hype there. Too, great. People having a great conversation and look going all the way back to. When I just started coaching I was at Notre Dame might have been two, thousand, eight, two, thousand, nine I want to say. Pekar wrote a book win forever and in that book. He kind of talked about all the things they can lead him to build his philosophy in those days, and then the fast forward later. To meet Dr Javale in those guys being in lockstep with how they build a culture and a program, and how they can get their players on the same page when it comes to staying in the moment in developing that competitive mindset, I just love. That do into see this success that if had individually collectively and then with the seahawks. I think it just validates all of this stuff today been talking about and I think Michael as a nice connection point to between Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson. He does so much work with Russell and it's look it's well known that Pete and Russ have very close relationship very tight relationship and I think there's kind of the third member to that to that relationship that I don't think people realize from the outside that Michael J. is kind of a nice connection point between those guys. It is a nice connection. Point and I think. He is Kinda helped Pete. Understand how to allow his team to kind of be the true authentic seals individually while also building this collection as a team and I think that's something that's very very hard to do because we're used to those mentality where everyone is expected to total on the same way, but Seattle MP Carol, Dr Javale they've been able to create a culture where you can be yourself within the framework of a bigger thing, which is the team last takeaway for me is just. I think the value in having somebody that's coach. Collegiate level a lot of these coaches. We have in the NFL that workup to be head coaches. They start off as quality control coaches. In the NFL, then go to position coaches, coordinators, and eventually become head coaches several. These guys have never even coached in college. I think there's a tremendous advantage. If you spent time at the collegiate level as a guy like Pete Carroll did because the development you have to do with those younger players you know eighteen nineteen years old to be able to grow them as players. What an asset! When you guys at the NFL level because I think some people assume that they're already developed, that is not the case. I think Pe- Carol. There's a great example. Jim Harbaugh as well. I think the expires in college. Game forces you to have a little more adaptability and flexibility in terms of how you develop players. What you see in identifying players the systems that you put in place. I think Pete Carroll been able to tap into that all college mindset and do something that was of unprecedented and the pros..

"Thank you Anthony Lynn. Thanks for stepping off. Thanks for doing a solid and being a brother and being like you know what I could use. This guy I can do this he fits. Let's forget about all the other stuff in three years. He plays that system Chris I love this. Don't wait for the other guys to do it. Anthony Lynn you do it, you. Would you be the one who could possibly reap? The benefits tyrod Taylor Chris. We've seen his act. He's fine for a little while he doesn't turn the. Over but he's not going to get you where you go, and ultimately right, he's not. And that's no disrespect to tyrod Taylor. Capper Nick was amazing quarterback in this league for a couple of years a couple three years. He plays this style. He's not thirty two football years. He's twenty eight. His body hasn't been beat up and banged up with a last three and a half four years Chris. He's younger than his age. As far as football years go and I'm just glad to see. Anthony Lynn one of the few black coaches. I wrote this column. Chris put a shadow league when I was writing there couple years ago and that column was about Jim Call with the Lions and Mike. Tomlin with with the steelers, saying their FRAT brothers, we capture nick if anybody should vouch for him and bring 'em in. We're all you right, but you know what I'm saying like. They could do it. They they could do it and here's Anthony Lynn, not just like behind the scenes Chris or mumbling the people on the Mike, he standing up, talking on the Mike. Kapernick plays our system. He fits our system. And he admitted I haven't talked to him yet, but if he wants to play football, we're definitely interested in this guy. I loved it. Thank you Anthony Lynn. Okay I'm with you on that. I like it. But I. How is what you're saying? He's you know he's doing a brother solid. How is this though? Any different or better than what Pete Carroll did first of all a couple years ago when he said we didn't sign him because he's a starter, probably MP. Carols mind putting it out there to some other team. Look sign this guy he whether you want him as a starter, not he could still play. And then just a few last week. Herald goes out of his last week early last week. When he said I regret not signing him and I think he'd be an extraordinary option. This year if Russell ever went down, we just got our three quarterback so again. Probably in Carol's mine, saying and saying teams call me now. We still don't know if that's true. I'm not calling him a liar, but he. He may have made that up just again. put it out there in the ether that hey, Kapernick doesn't have the Kuti's. He's fine the sign somebody should go ahead and get him if you need him so i. that's my only thing I. I'm with whatever did I'm just I? Think you're you're losing me a little oil? And that is the brother stepping up. Because in that case, the White Guy p Curl stepped up. No. He didn't step up this house. Anthony lives are saying they're going to sign him he. "When they lost the falcons? I'm trying to think they needed another year to the mid twenty twelve now division around to the niners so yes they made it so Miller two other times while he was there to the NFC championship game again. Not able to get over that Hump. so He's kind of had candy like a rare where he's he's big enough to get his team. Never never we get them over the hump outside of the one year. They won the Super Bowl See this this is. This is a tougher one for me but I do believe just overall success in the success. He's had with different quarterbacks over his career because again all these guys who've I've played with one quarterback I think that kind of gives them the edge. I think I might have him over. McCarthy reader McCarthy injuries able to win that super bowl this this the coming year p Carroll is another one because again he kind of the same situation where he had a younger guy as quarterback was able to get them won the super bowl which they able to do with no homes were any was would be able to do But then they were able to get right right back and I think that that's going to be the thing that even since then they've been because it's the playoffs they haven't been back to the NFC championship game since the last Super Bowl when they lost to the Patriots. Obviously but they've just been consistently good in a lot of Ozzy's down from Russell Wilson but in his career would Seattle since twenty twelve. We haven't had a season under nine. Wins which is which is consistent. Excellence in some that again. Andy Reid does have but budge that he's PK Do do that and get his team back to the Super Bowl you'll like they did. They did in back to back years. which is very very hard to do? especially in this Dane agent in the League where things turn over so fast and it's very hard to get teams back to Super Bowl Once you miss out on it and so I would say right if I don't know this is probably the closest one in my own personal opinion. Two of them just because like carol just been a consistent. Great coaches always seems to be getting his team to the playoffs every year. No matter what I they have one if I had one season without ten wins his twenty nine and seven in two thousand seventeen. We were trying to rebuild after all the legion of boom stuff was kinda done. Have you ever year. They've had ten plus wins which is crazy to think about Then he had some practice because he had two other stopped after he didn't do as well with the jets and then with the Patriots. And then I'll be able to go to college and GMC back together and to get back to the pros but since he's been here since twenty twelve they've been I'm great and I think that's probably I think I might have to see him. Andy Reid Gabe super bowl again. After winning it this time to us from supplant him above P care take p carroll over India's because I know Jerry's beacon p care of not gonNA enforcing enforcing for Andy Not GonNa fold up in the big moment. I know that's kind of been eighty staying and after that you'll get that monkey off his back if they are able to when super bowl this year. That's always kind of the knock on him. Is that when in the biggest games in big moments he whether it's not run the ball enough with misusing challenges misusing mismanaging timeouts also. That's not something they are not being Not does not normally been a knock on P. Carol so that's Kinda why may I may. HP Carol in this got over Andy Reid if he wins that Super Bowl and John Harbaugh the other. One and Ozzy John Harbors a any re- protege And I mean in Venice them. You want to go with Joe flacco which no knock on Joe FLACCO but again. He's not any of the four quarterbacks we listed or on the same cow presenting the full court Richard listed with these other coaches or even He's nowhere near near as good as Mahomes is currently in house. He will be in the future so I commend him for that and then obviously he was able to after though the the only bad thing or the downside is that they weren't the driven thing we have that much success after that super bowl coming you may call it fluky will but again you still need to be. After that. They've they've had some interesting. I mean there was a chance that many thought he get fired a couple years ago now. He was able to stave off a little bit but it had some mediocre years here in the NFC where we get back together This past year with Marin I see he was was instrumental nine often the house easy now. The guys instrumental in terms of the analytics and Gone Ford on fourth down aggressiveness to winger versions. Something like that. He's Kinda helped Advanced thinking of head coaches in the League so I give credit for that but no no slight to him must think of India Super Bowl. Then yeah I would rank him above him. So I guess I would have again not including Doug Peterson because He also has mainly around long enough announcing that including bill checker. I'm trying like even I Jon Gruden. Because he was out of the game for so long so just the tar was hard for me to include him in in teams but amongst those among those six I think I would have read second on that list and with him only being buying. MP Carol in terms of coat act of coaches in the in the in the League all time if he was able to or does it. Not even all time dislike agriculture's right now in the league if he were able to win the superbowl so I would have him. Second amongst among those five other coaches which is not a best buy for him on. Hopefully for his sake you can get that Lose of Super Bowl victory but I mean the niners are going to be tough in the negotiating is not just going to hand it to. He's GonNa he's GonNa make them go. Come and go get it so interesting discussion. That will gain hand kind of just where I wanted to where I was thinking about just late where any would rank among current super bowl. Winning coaches coaches in the League if he was able to get one said obviously not including ballot check in and Gruden and Doug I think that the second thing I might take care over him but again. That's not inaugural. PK Rose a great coach for being in the hall of fame I think I'm overpaid. I take him over time. Take him over McCarthy. Take him over. Horrible is that because the only one I might not am I am. I am ethical badge there. So that's just my opinion. There's more than welcome to disagree. So after this next break we're going to talk about the unfortunate early exit of ten. Is's or I mean I was GonNa say women tends to be just tennis. "The Titans the the winners from divisional weekend and we were in Santa Clara for the game on Saturday and I'll tell you what I look I'm not complaining I'm just saying I don't know how I got out of bed this morning yeah I hear you because I felt we lying on the flying all night Saturday in a real like I was on a drenalin all day yesterday watching the games and then as soon as the last game ended like I didn't know I said to my wife I don't know what's wrong with me I'm either really really tired really really hungry a lot of both or about to die I'm really not sure what's going on right now I went to bed and then I could wake up I had a similar thing you're right I well well yes we're all messed up our body clock whatever it is but yeah yesterday I'm with you I flew on adrenaline as well but was ready to pass out when the game is over and I was in a coma this morning right when the when the alarm went off I was like no way is it five thirty already but awesome games yesterday I mean come on that Texans chiefs game that was on real and then to cap it off with with Lambeau field cold weather Russell Wilson Aaron Rodgers it was a good day it was easy to stay awake and have fun watching those two games and I want to get right to we're gonna be praising Aaron Rodgers throughout the show because he had multiple throws that were flat out off the charts old school phenomenal yeah moves around like a guy ten years younger than he is the things he did yesterday were are as impressive as anything he's ever done and I'm saying all of that because it's setting up the big concern I have coming again I'm gonna get right to it yeah last hour I I took some time to get to my my main criticism and look you know I feel about the Seahawks have been big supporters of what they do Russell Wilson's great Pete Carroll's great yada yada but here's what's bothered me this morning about that game and the Jimmy Graham thing is going to provide the Seahawks some cover for this because everybody's gonna be yell at a criticizing servers not seeing the whole idea of the spot right right let's forget about that okay good about that three minutes and twenty two seconds left in the game right Russell Wilson gets sacked by Preston Smith the Seahawks have the ball on their own thirty six fourth eleven yeah three twenty two three timeouts two minute warning down five and it's Russell Wilson who was playing almost as well as Aaron Rodgers and maybe as well as Aaron Rodgers doing vintage Russell Wilson things I heard some quotes for of Packers players after the game they said it was like trying to chase a chicken in a yard with no fence that they you know in and that's the end you see defensive lineman all the time get frustrated because they just can't get Russell Wilson fourth eleven Chris here's how we can get into the analytics and the probabilities in the statistics and if you do this then what are the chances of this to its fourth eleven and you have Russell Wilson they have Aaron Rodgers you have three timeouts there's three minutes left in the game how how does it take anything more then a knee jerk automatic thought of course we're going for here we're not going to plummet to Aaron Rodgers what we've seen what Aaron Rodgers done all game we're not stopping Aaron Rodgers we're trusting our guy you trust your guy against green bay's defense over Aaron Rodgers against your defense every day of the week don't you well yeah yeah I don't think it has to come down to that first off Pete Carroll the defensive coach Mike we've seen him do this a lot the whole year right he's not what doesn't make it right now it doesn't make it right but I do think there's logic here I don't think it's totally stupid you know yes where he's at twenty eight twenty three okay you know I think Charles looking out to go and all right but if its fourth eleven and we don't get the first down yeah they're gonna kick a field goal there to golf by eight who knows how much time's going to be left all right then we're gonna have to go down and score a touchdown two point conversion he aired on you know I don't like my chances of converting on fourth eleven they've been doing a pretty good job of pressuring Wilson you're right Russell Wilson's magic man but I think he went my defense just made a stop you know more than likely Green Bay is going to throw the ball on first and second down and I think Pekao just open Hey it's going to come down to one pie and I hope my defense on a certain third down can make that type of stop and they didn't do it the thing okay you right right right okay yeah it's going to come down to one play yeah right if it comes down to one play I won't Russell Wilson for that one play not my defense trying to stop Aaron Rodgers in his own building that's the thing we can complicate the analysis all we want but it comes down to believing in your guy over believing in their guy and their guy and your guy are both to the best in the league and I just think when you have the ball and and it's a five point game and there's three minutes left and you've got Russell Wilson and they've got Aaron Rodgers I don't care about analytics there and I understand and there's all those layers and levels to where the analyst I would buy the analytics I mean what I you know again we don't know but its fourth eleven to the analytics as of the percentage of probably you know getting the first down there and converting have to be very low as well exactly but but that's what but those numbers are all generated week in and week out with a a wide variety of quarterback her art Russell Wilson you've got you've got a guy who is making more money than anyone else in the NFL right now you believe in him yeah by virtue of what you're paying yes and he and and Pete Carroll said after the game Russell was was phenomenal tonight he did everything he could to win the game right there's a point where you just have to say you know what we've got the guy to do it all those analytics are based on a bunch of steps and and a wide swath of quarterback from good to bad and everything in between we've got one of the best and we trust amid fourth eleven and by the way if we give the ball back they've got one of the best well yeah I guess and and I guess my concern here okay listen I I know I mean you're not crazy I think the eleven part is the big issue like if it was fourth in a you know if he doesn't take the five yard sack that doesn't happen and it's fourth in eight or less I think you go sort but I also think we got to take into account to that he's also looking at it like okay this is a defense of coach this is a guy who wanted to seep super bowls playing through his defense so this is what he thinks and he thinks about that he always has faith that they're going to make this stop and you know that's the that's kind of his MO I I also think he's got a to come into play and like to what you're saying with their Roger still all right is just go in yeah all right maybe they have a third Nate now are are a third in whatever you know backed up let's say Russell Wilson them went for don't get it now what if Aaron Rodgers does that he is that guy I like your mention he does a touchdown on one of those third down ways what if they're right there by the red zone on that third down play any there was a similar route to divide dance band touchdown game over so I think he looked at it like all right I'm either going to have to score a touchdown a two point conversion or man Rogers is pretty good maybe there was a touchdown and just like put the dagger into somewhere done or I can punt the ball and rely on my defense and maybe a stupid play call or a really conservative wimpy call by a Green Bay to maybe do it I I listen I hear you it's a tough decision Russell Wilson was unbelievable yesterday I feel like we reversed in time where you know a few years ago Russell Wilson had defense and run game to help them and it was Aaron Rodgers doing everything by himself that was the opposite Aaron Rodgers got a little defense and run game to help him and I wanna be like man can anybody on Seattle do something besides Russell Wilson he was on real yesterday what he did he carried that team and you know unfortunately they just don't have enough offense and it's all it always comes out you all gosh we're down by eighteen let's just what Russell fly now and it's like well it's too late you're down by eighteen at Lambeau field this is too much to overcome I hear your point but I don't think I'm gonna sit here and at this rate and be totally mad at Pete Carroll there here is the and we showed the highlights the first clip we showed was Russell Wilson get bottled up in the backfield squirting through and running for like twenty five yard yeah I I JB that I well maybe the plot maybe the play call would be in that fourth eleven send everybody deep have Russell take three steps back and Russell just go get us eleven yards it's Russell Wilson that's that's my my I get your point here I yeah you and I and this is where and I think there's a place for analytics but you have to remember who you have and who they have when you're running the numbers through the computers like if you've got Lamar Jackson it's very easy to be got see on fourth and three fourth and four and if you've got Russell Wilson and and really the list of quarterbacks that you would trust to get you fourth eleven with the season on the line is not a long one and Russell Wilson is on that list his nothing to crea and this and maybe this helps further explain why Pete Carroll is a defensive coach throughout the second half there were moments where I'm wondering do the Seahawks realize they're down eighteen points yeah like the urgency wasn't there there are stout drive that they after it went to twenty eight to ten take a lot of time taking a lot of time and on that play when they decided the pot fourth eleven yeah the play ended with three twenty two on the chloride they punted they they got the snap off with two forty one that's a lot of time that bothered me Mike I'm with you there I saw that that when we okay we're putting the ball let's let's upon it and get the show on the road here you're right there that a lot of a lot of clock run off now to the bigger point of what you said Hey we talked about this over the weekend right you know I I had brought up on me or sit in the van going over the going over them the forty Niners stadium Hey the Seahawks are scary you know I had this conversation with my buddy Kyle Shanahan a few weeks back about the Seattle Seahawks where yeah it's just like they don't care how the game goes they play the Seattle Seahawks MP Carol to give Russell Wilson the ball on the last drive of the game they just want to be okay let's see except when they pot when a pun on fourth down he didn't like it on board that eleven I think they're still but you're right I get you I know I know it but but that's the way they play right Mike we saw it even in the in the week seventeen game against the forty Niners they were down by fourteen the fourth quarter they were still stopping the ball with two in three seconds left on the play clock they're scary that way they have no fear and Russell Wilson of course is a magic man so I bet that's what they do and I'm not gonna be matter number that I hear you with the punk thing and I did that the fourth eleven is debatable I get it I think if I was the car I would have done what he does did too I would probably pundit try to get my defense to get the stop get Russell the ball one time see where it goes from there but I think the questions are it's a good debate and I had a good conversation.

"Of America dot com they had against Russell Wilson I just can't do it I want to because I like the Niners and I'm going maybe this is where we see the shift there's a new team in the in the NFC west but as long as the sea hawks have Russell Wilson I got a role with them nine times out of ten eight to ten times out of ten well I mean it's hard to go against him considering like everything seems to go wrong at different times throughout the course of the Seahawks season and it's like you know great quarterbacks franchise quarterbacks one that you pay forty fifty million dollars a year to those the guys that make it work even if they don't have a great offensive line I don't have a great running game they don't have great receivers they you know it's it's it's the quarterbacks to sort of get propped up by a great offensive lines great running games great players around them that are kind of fools gold type franchise quarterbacks Ross Wilson the real deal because he's been able to win despite at times I have a great office of why not having all the pieces and if you have to begin this year because there's literally citing guys off the street they're literally setting the running back room from five years ago Robert Turbin Marshawn Lynch they're they're gonna be without Duane brown for the next couple of weeks at least so it's it's another year where Russell Wilson I have to do a lot of it by itself and on the other side for hunters have some injuries but it you know in terms of grovel having full stable of of receivers in terms of the running game the offense of line like Dave for that is going to have all the pieces in place and that's why for me it's kind of hard to pick if the forty Niners they've kind of been the the even though it's in Seattle this they've just bear the cream of the crop of the NFL this year they're so good so balanced offensively defensively I think the four daughters gonna win this division and and get in on the number one overall seed in the NFC in our defense travel that's one thing you know that you can look at the forty Niners there six and one on the road this year and that you know defense you don't have to worry don't worry about whether it's loud or not you know you just go get the quarter back right that's what they've been really really good at just the kind of let everybody know what's going on and what is at stake next Sunday you've been nine is get the number one seed in the NFC if they win souls real simple they when they get a bye home field throughout that Seahawks need the Packers to lose one of their final two to earn a by a cannot finish with the number one seed and right now the Packers trail the Vikings ten mistakes right before the end of the of the first half in seven seconds left and the the Packers are right there on the doorstep at the two yard line so that's a quick update on what's going on on Monday Night Football there let's hear from Russell Wilson because he knows that they still have a chance to win their division the good thing is you know we have a chance of winning a C. west as the reality that's the truth the truth is we have a better too as well so both of those things are are are are are real and you know I I don't think there's any anybody better than us to be able to figure out how to how to answer back I'm in a golden along fat are attempting you're listening to Freddie in Fitzsimmons on ESPN radio ari how much state do you put in experience because obviously the Seahawks and Russell Wilson have a ton of experience being in this situation and you know just playoff experience I don't I don't think experience matters I don't know I mean I I like to me the one sport that it does and as that it's Baird self out as the NBA where it's like it's just hard to win with young team to the NBA you see they have to take their lumps of everybody goes through it Madonna's been going through it now and perhaps this is the year they break through but like that to me is the one sport that really seems to this acetate experience I don't think football is that kind of a sport I I don't you know I don't I just think there's so much in terms of the game like I coaching matters and football more than any other sport I think because of that you sort of take away the the the the potential for you know experience battering these games were as if you just get your team prepared away your schemes are right you you kind of you know if you have advantageous came to take advantage of it at the team's deficiencies I think you're okay you enough time to worry about the fact that you're an experienced well let me ask you this name who have the co teenage in that match up the forty Niners and the Seahawks okay I think Pete Carroll's a great coach but I I take how Shanahan because he just has a role in right now and I you know it we heard for Brady Henderson who covers the Seahawks your city that really wants to run the football and yeah he mentioned that you don't have to you don't have to run the ball effectively or at all in order to establish play action like that's the whole thing there's no correlation whatsoever between running the ball effectively and the the ability to get teams divided plaques thereby anyways like full live actors going to bite on play action even if you have on the ball all to the good times but last year the Seahawks play the cowboys and and AT T. stadium in the wild card round and like they win that game of that run the ball as much as they did it seems like there are times where you know you've got a a coach that's forcibly take ball away from the quarterback but it was Brian Schottenheimer last year so maybe things a little bit different but but I give the edge here shot and that's not again IP Carol his his resume speaks for itself is a fantastic coach I just think at times with modern tried the NFL and I just think it's time they they they run the ball far too much especially the talent level of Russell Wilson it will when you speak of running the ball they talk about you know Shanahan's running his system you know where we go when it comes to running the ball like amazing and they do a great job of doing that so I'd definitely like that like have a have a rolling but to to the point of experience and I agree with you the players have an experience might not matter as much in football but I think the coach having experience matters a whole lot MP Carol's been battle tested you've been battle tested so I'm not worried how should I take your point now not right right you know so in if if things are close I'm actually more confident in Pete Carroll been able to stay calm and and you know pulling off his previous experience where Jenner handle get there and go you know does the stick with what god a mayor does he get queue and try to do a little extra for that for that reason I'm Rowland with Carol do you think they should have will be composed enough in this matter to me even in the playoffs yeah and and you know it's funny because we spent last hour we talked a little bit about the rest rust thing with Baltimore in this is I mean obviously comma discussion that that we have and everybody has it that this part of the season so what's happening in the atmosphere and I was really cool because you you basically have situation go in week seventeen were everybody still has to play their way into not the playoffs but into their situation so like that's the best you can hope for is not even have to have a discussion about rest versus rust because you've still got play the player to play yourself in the first or second seed yeah Monday Night Football Minnesota Green Bay there they have Minnesota leads tan said nine and we'll get an update on that Monday Night Football match up your listening to Freddie in Fitzsimmons on ESPN radio and ESPN at in the morning party to a whole new level with the parties miss America podcast goes.

"And and then you know, you you picked up on it. And then at media night before the Super Bowl. I went up the bum. And I said, hi, I I said, hi way, Dave damage Schick? And he said, hey, you don't need to introduce yourself to me. I know who you are. I want to thank you for for coming up with this idea that really meant a lot to me. And that was great. But then Gary I just got here today. And you said wait a second ace said that was his idea. No, that's not what I said check. What did you say? You said you pulled a clip. I said, yes, I said that ace, and I had a conversation and Adam wanted us to pull the clip because he thought he may have had some impeded avid, a I mean, it wouldn't it wouldn't have meant anything for me to say it into the ether him picking up and liking it is what push across the line. I had an incident doing the incident. You told me you got to play this clip. We got to see this clip. What do you mean incident about on Daves of thunder your stirring the pie? Am not stirring any pot. You told me I pulled a clip and we have the play. And I said all right, then I'll bring it up days. I thought that's what you want me to do. Never have that is early the conversation. I said we pulled the clip at Adams requesting never once adjusted. We were going to play it on the air. Oh, I thought you said you wanted to get in. Here's here's what happened recently. The play the clip recently on my own program. I was burned by bald. Bryan. Suggested that my idea out on stage at the hill were way nerve Irvine. But it. I suggested that we should take the enforcement ice as since everyone wants to polish ice, and they should change their acronym too. Nice. And then no one want to abolish them. And then Brian said, yeah. Just start with national immigration, you know, whatever customs enforcement enforcement, right and. Yeah. Nice. Who would who would cry Kamala Harris doesn't win a polish? Nice anti-american. Fac- humanum. Right. Right. So some a few weeks later, Brian did they? Yeah. Remember had that idea about calling it? Nice. And I said that that was my my deal was nice you said national, but I think that was my so I'd been burned. I say so many things I don't know what I said. And what I haven't said. All right. So be it. First of all the the overarching point is at tremendous victory for all of us. I feel like that was really great and with Wade, and this this is among great career chievements right up there with back in two thousand and seven. I got Rick new highs all MP Carol on the phone simultaneously in front of the victory bell game and convinced those two head coaches to both wear the glorious home jerseys against each other. And they did so. Wow. And they did that this is up there for me. This is up there for me. But it also reminds me when gay. Brought this up. I said, it's the there's no there's no malice on anybody's part with that kind of stuff. You explain that. And it's absolutely right. If you're in a room, and people are talking about it, and the ideas out there, you're not you're not willfully. I mean, I know they're jokes thief's in among comics and all that. But but for the most part things go into your head you hear it. You don't know that you heard like that come from? And it kind of gets away from me a little bit say. Fair to me. It was a good idea. And. He's been a belief. Like, the evil billionaire like who they gonna believe me with all my money power. Are you lose? Actually, that's exactly the dynamic. That's not an analogy. That's spot on. Me all my money. Are you with a pot belly? Well, it's a good idea. Good. Well done. You know, what I think we we all.
