"You go out in the woods today you are show off or a big surprise. I'm always one for spending time out in nature and enjoying the wilderness. But you always have to be a little bit careful of where you go when you get up to. And that's the theme of tonight's fantastic story. Nowhere near as gruesome as the one. I told you on monday just the same now. My dear friends. I think you know what time it is. It's hump day so please sit back and relax with your favorite drink is. It's time to listen to down here. In the south riding horses is still a fairly popular amongst many. There are many different types of writing. But i've always been keen to trail ride myself. Shell writing is just what it says. It is riding your horse through trails in the woods. Mountains hills and hollows as anyone from around here. Tennessee would tell you it gets hotter than the devils not sack especially during the summer months that is to say when summertime trail riding takes place at night often we wait until full to begin writing because the weather makes it easier but during the summer we ride these rights are always time and a half as usually just a small group of us get together we all gather at the edge of the woods find the trail head from that we set out together for a long night of trout writing through some of the south's last uncivilized land. This particular story and ride took place in august three years. My father and i met up with our friends. Jr and h apm at a place known to the locals as galley hill. It has this name because the trail head is behind the galley hill. Church of christ and cemetry. Yeah i know it sounds bad already but this has been the only trail to this ride for as long as i can remember and it's never cost any sort of problems so like i said we set off for a long night of horseriding and for everyone but me a long night of drinking. I never drank when we rode. Because i wasn't of age and i was our designated driver. I'm aware this all may sound very dangerous. So even strange. But i assure you it's not at least not to us gilly hale is full of well-traveled trails during the winter but during the summer people don't write as much. The trials grow up making it easy to get lost or at least turned around halsey smarter than most folk given credit follow. They have a tremendous sense of direction and can see well at night. The only problem with horses being able to see at night is that in all for them to maintain their vision. It needs to remain. This leaves you without anything to improve your own vision while you ride a thousand pound animal and the duck who the middle of a wooded. No the only exception to this one may use a dim light with a red bulb and redlands for whatever reason which. I'm sure someone hit and explain. These lights won't make your night blind weakland aside from that and the only light we have come from the glow sticks. Everyone ties to the front and back of their saddles. So we can keep up each other easily anyway back to that. All night house came and went with nothing out of the ordinary happening as we wrote and covered a lot of ground constantly putting more distance between us and the whole trailers. I guess. It was around midnight when i made the comment that i was hungry and brought food to cook implying. I wanted to stop for more than just a few minutes to build a fire and eat unsurprisingly. I was not the only hungary one because we immediately stopped him. Within a few minutes had fire roaring and hotdogs roasting when we stop period of time we would always tie horses to trees in a circle and gathering the middle to do our thing. This was done especially at night for more than one reason. I because everyone to relax a little as we could all keep an eye on the horses together and made sure they didn't run all this had happened before and it's nearly impossible to catch a wild in the woods at night. The second reason is because host is a very large animals have superb hearing by having them form circle around us. It served as a natural to any unwanted visitors. Viewing are not after all. We were in the middle of nowhere in the woods at night. The horses formed a circle and inside the circle. We all sat by our fire eating drinking. When carrying i suddenly had the urge to piss so i stood up and walked. Had a few yards to the other side of my horse to go.

"Work right away and usually in about 5 minutes. Now, let's get started on the 5 minutes that could change your life. Hello and welcome back today. We're talking about roads and streets and who would have thought they'd make such a big impact on your funk shway but they do now when Fung shway originated several thousand years ago. It took into account the effects of landmarks like wage. Six Rivers ponds mountains Hills and other environmental considerations when determining the benefit or impact a funk shway on a home or building now today is much the same but in addition to natural landmarks homeowners now have to take into account influences modern times like roadways building's electrical wires because these also impact the feng shui of your home or your office. If you're in an office building now the good news is that most difficulties associated with roads can be overcome with Feng Shui now. I used to live in an airbag and watched one really lovely home go up for sale in succession one after the others all the different owners year after year a new owner would move into this beautiful home. And then another month sale sign would go up. What was interesting to me was that this holds relationship to the road that led up to it? The home was located on a major bend in a heavily-traveled road and it off. Cars appeared a head straight for the house as they traveled at a high rate of speed interestingly. Now, this was before they came to the curve but interestingly at the at this particular Bend where the cars were going down past the house opposite from that was a big tree and a small graveyard. Now this Arrangement directly impacted the luck of the many residents of this house of the years. I was there I think I was just when I was in in Raleigh North Carolina and I lived in this neighborhood for seven years and almost as many homeowners appeared in this house long as I as years I lived there so it was like it turned over like five times I think while I had lived there and what was also interesting is how many drivers were killed at this big tree and this grave yard as they approached this fatal Bend in the road. Finally though one smart new home owner purchased some really large Hedges shortly after moving in we have them planted wage. Line that blocked the view of the cars that would be speeding toward their house and also their headlights cuz just think about that if if you're if a car is aimed at a house at night time their headlights were going to be on the on the house as well. But it also blocked the view of this little cemetery and the large trees were so many of these cars would would wreck and what's interesting though is the the rep and said that house stayed there and they stayed there until after we had had moved away. So I think that that's a really important lesson on how roads can impact you so you always want to look at what is the approach to your home is the approach with on a Bend. Is it it there a curve or you want it dead end up a street many times people who live at home like the absolute corner or the straight on from a cul-de-sac they wanted they think that that's the the prime location to be at the end of the cul-de-sac but if you have a street this heading straight on home. Straight on it that house. It's a lot of energy aimed at your house. So that's something to be thinking about in terms of the type of energy and that you have at that home for them for the residents of the home and how their life is impacted by that. So I think that we want to always look at the type of energy coming in our homes because it can limit box and it can bring us benefits, you know one house that was also striking and its relationship to Rhodes was a house where Robin Williams committed suicide the street of his house was just a name or a few feet from the front door. So there was no bride Hall which is the open space where she gathers and brings opportunity help get home, which could explain some of the Limited film Arbitrage she was experiencing them, but then there was this bigger even more serious problem and that was the water that was exactly at the back directly at the back of the house. So here is dead. The the fence of the home is probably I bet ten feet from the store or the front door is probably 10 feet from the home and then on the other side was water and it just I was too close there was not enough room. It was as if this home was being almost pushed into the water and and it's really sad because loved Robin Williams and I I thought when I heard he had committed suicide us. I want to look at his home and see what it looked like because you know, I just look at those things even like when I think Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt got divorced. I looked at their home. They had a big they had a sort of a an open courtyard with this big tree in the middle of it and that's very negative and very and and devastating for relationships, you know with this road at the front of his house and water at the back. Robin Williams was sandwiched by lack of support and opportunity much like being backed off a cliff. So when you have birth Row directly behind the house and one in front. This can be disastrous for health wealth and opportunities as we saw in Mister Williams all untimely and tragic end and now there is some function thought that certain entry and exit directions are beneficial for roads surrounding our houses and summer.

I mean, it's absolutely unbelievable experience. So when they can just run freely and you know, enjoy the life, I think that yeah, that would be be definitely better than pound home and it's like I ever had anything any interesting encounters with local wildlife. Nothing, I can think of no, you know what time it was it was one time in Germany. But it was an iPad you were just he just we were tracking and we got very close to the woods and said he was checking shocking and I definitely got this end of the wild animal and he started talking that while I know instead of my truck off we had like, you know face to face meeting but it was just funny because he's never liked ever done it before and I'm like, well, I mean was guess it was really interesting for you, you know, but again like whenever we're like in the woods like he doesn't have that drive to run, you know, go after animals just not here, Did you want to stay with me? He knows that even if you know, like I said, okay like forget about it, whatever like he he he's really good like about it so never had a faith. Meeting with any animal. He's like swimming. Yes. Yes most had this accident. I don't remember how that happened. But he fell into the pool and talk about it. Like he's not going to swim anymore. And he was just like I'm not going to the water but live in Florida. I'm like it would be ready in a call that you don't like what all right, it's so hot here. So I took my time and I breakspeare through the water. I drank his beer to the swimming in the swimming pool. Then I you know and the ocean and now he just oh my gosh, like he loves, you know, throwing the book or anything in a swimming pool. He just Jake he's not faking, you know where we're going to the oceans like, you know, Chase his ball and like no problem. He loves it and it's a great exercise Club. It's cooling off. Yes mam. Are there any little little mannerisms that I care has that you think are unique to offer him? I mean for me if you need like a little wage like, you know. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think of anything but That's all right. No, I don't I don't don't think so. I cannot think of anything right now, So what sort of diet has Aiko had is it been consistent throughout his life? Yes, I keep an eye on cable and a raw diet. So, you know, I mix it up but I mean since you know since he is my competition dog, I mean, really pay attention to a quality of food. So mighty bowl like the high quality, you know, I I used to have something else and then I change it and in 2015. I keep all my dogs on the same food very high quality food. Not your not passport wage. That's for sure. And then I had with her all vegetable side even plain yogurt. I have 2 payments of it like joint supplement. I need a crazy about all that stuff because my dogs are athletes so many different things that I do about the other would be like, you know veggies plain yogurt or cottage cheese, you know, because I try to keep the options because when I travel I cannot always go into the lease. So I like to keep that option that I can switch it, but then I still would like I can get veggie and I can get a little ad and and plain yogurt everywhere. Right and I keep them on a joint supplement that like daily stuff and then I have and then I have some comments that I given month. So like 9 before competition while we're in the preparation mode. There is a friendship supliment day. He get extra.

"Same tomorrow. It sounds like one on one on Wednesday by my house on the west side because I'm being naked today. Are you going to go out? I always keep my blinds open, but it's hot. So I'M GONNA go ahead and prance around. Funny Hey we talked about this on Friday we were talking about your first car what was your first car that was fun talking cars you handed the story over I didn't get a chance to talk about it and giving you something to talk about it but it has to do with cars and car crash in the Swiss Alps. So it was last week. Here's what it in vault trippy story Mercedes Benz C Class Wagon, a Porsche nine eleven cabriolet. A Bugatti Sheeran I think Sheron I think is how you say the Bugatti I'm not sure what that vehicle and a motor home. So what was happening is the Bugatti driver didn't WanNa wait. So he tried to pass this motor home as their kind of going up one of these mountain hills passes just as the Porsche driver had the same idea. They collided hit each other then it hit the Mercedes and then the motor home. Luckily, nobody was killed. The Mercedes driver had to go to the hospital with his injuries, her injuries. The. Wreck though this is where it's kind of trippy story because it's a Mercedes Porsche a Bugatti. And then this motor home four million dollars vehicles. And the Bugatti actually cost the most they said it's going to be at least three million and that was the story with Tracy. Tracy Morgan Fender Bender. With his multi-million dollar Bugatti, it was new to write off the lot. He, was driving from the dealership. Wasn't he think so you're right. You're right and that's to those are so pricey and it was his fault. He was impatient. We've had those surveys before the people that drive luxury cars are kind of a halt. Well. How many times have you know where you you went to go pass and somebody behind you the same idea and then you didn't go because that person. So it's pure. It happens more than we know it's just the only reason. This made the news because of all the vehicles involved and what did you say it was in the Swiss Alps. So yeah, and the Swiss Alps and it looks like they were heading up heading up a mountain, a mountain pass in this RV in and it sucks. When you're driving up any of the canyons or something and you, you know if it's not like eighty but if it's up one of the roads big cottonwood or whatever got somebody in an RV stack or pulling a trailer and sometimes they I, like when they you know if it's a state road or whatever. But when they have a little bit of awareness that there's a, you know a slew of people behind him and they pull off or pull over a little bit to let everybody kind of pass them. Just sucks when there's nowhere for well, it's when there's nowhere for them to go and no one nowhere else for people to you know hard maybe pass or it's not a passable area right? Just can be dangerous man everybody gets like so irritated I get it. All right. Let's do this. Let's talk about this. It's Nick Cannon. He's been in and out of the news in the last month or so..

We've mentioned before John Still Goes Book outside lies, magic and his advice to look for clues in the landscape to help interpret what you're seeing. There's a big clue. Here. I the setting in the middle of a parking lot says people are going to be visiting by automobile and second. The size of the paved lot says it gets a lot or used to get a lot of visitors. This miniature version of the United. States is the stylized vision of one man. Lawrence, Geringer who began building the model in nineteen. Oh, three when he was nine years old as he grew up in the town of Hamburg Pennsylvania along one of the country's first roads, the king's highway, which later became the center Turnpike, and is now interstate. Seventy eight work progressed steadily on the model, and then, and when Lawrence was in his twenties, his friends convinced him to allow the community in for a look. The resulting newspaper story led to an offer from the owner of the local amusement park, and in nineteen thirty eight. It moved to Carson Lia Park One of these times. We'll talk about trolley parks, but for now let it Suffice Car Sonia was a weekend destination for commuters from the nearby cities, gearing your kept building, and shortly display outgrew its space among the amusement rides and moved to an abandoned. Walking the South Downs Way in England
"Welcome amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Let's talk about the south downs way. I'd like to welcome to the show. Aaron Miller from the Armchair Explorer podcast at Armchair Dash Explorer Dot Com. Who's come to talk to us about hiking? The south downs way in England Aaron. Welcome to the show. Thank you so much Chris. Pleasure to be here well Erin. Why are we talking about the south downs way? And can you put it on a map? I first of all I come from this area so I'm passionate about it. The South downs way is I think. One of the most beautiful but lesser-known hikes in England in the south of England. It's a hundred mile pot that stretches from east which is south of London right on the coast and it goes a hundred miles west to winchester and it's a beautiful route because it follows the spine of the south downs. The entire way on the south downs being a series of hills mountains hills. We're talking the south. Downs is beautiful gentle rolling hills that stretch of this way and into central English landscape. When you picture that quintessential Englishness that gentle rolling hills in arable farmland and old pubs little tiny villages and sheep and cows. Because you're on the spine of these down. This incredible view to one side to the south of you is the English Channel Sparkling Blue Sea in and then the other side is this wheeled. Which is this valley. That seems to stretch on forever. And IT'S COOKIE CUTTER. English field far as the I could say. And what makes this really special is? It's the national trail for south downs. National Park which is England's National Park. I think turns ten this year. So it's really a working landscape for like for your listeners. That come from the states or other places. I love the national parks in the states. I'm a huge fan right about them. A lot and most of them are obviously protecting. He's wild spaces. But the town's national park is a little different is actually a UNESCO biosphere reserve which is an award. That's not been given out to that many places and it's to do with the relationship between a land and its people and the sustainable relationship harmonious assistance between the ecosystem and the people that live there and have lived there and work that land for centuries thousands of years in fact. So what you get. Is this real sense of living landscape. It's not a national park which is devoid of people cut off from civilization It's a national park where people have existed for thousands of years the south downs way. In fact it's been walked for at least eight thousand years. Have records of that so when you in this room you really? Following in the footsteps of people that have worked for thousands of years. There's age hill forts. There's Bronze Age burial mounds. There's Roman history so you get a real sense of that as you will through an feel like that history and culture can imbue a place with debt when you're there you get the sense of this living landscape that is very typical of England's and very friendly in welcoming you're passing through these little villages and it's a little off the tortoiseshell because I don't think many international tourists do so when you coming off the trail to stay in these tubs or these different places overnight. You really stay in local One a drop down to this pub called the five bells and the local cricket teams in having their Green Tea and Gossiping About Pu. Bakes the best scones and all that sort of stuff. So it's really you're eavesdropping on this. Little World of the south of England and I think a lot of people when they think giving they think of the south of England to landscape inspired love artists over the years for everyone from Virginia Woolf in the blooms regroup to painters and musicians. So you really feel like you're walking through a landscape that has a lot of depth battle texture to it and there's a lot of great beer too so that was helps o'clock and one thing to know is when you talk about this being a national park in UK the UK Veasley being a smaller country than the US. Where I live doesn't have as many national parks. That only has fifteen so when you say. It's a national park. It's one of just over a dozen national parks in both England. Scotland and Wales altogether. So obviously fifteen are the fifteen best sites that were worthy of being named National Park. So where are we starting? So there's two options I started in Eastbourne which is on the south coast and made my way west from there and I did that for a special reason because when you do it that way there's a really great finish to the hike which I'll I'll keep his as a surprise for example a Lotta people choose to do it the other way round. It's the same elevation same difficulty. I think a lot of people choose to do it the other way round because when you begin winchester you slowly make your way closer and closer to the finish. This really dramatic finish walking towards east born in this place called the seven sisters. Which are these beautiful chalky cliffs that the White Cliffs of Dover the famous cliffs on the South Coast and these be bit as beautiful? I did it the other way and I also did it in a very fun way. I did it as a one hundred mile. Pub CRAWL

It's Schultz right. I'm saying yes. He's an angel literally one of my best friends and he is actually why I started a podcast. I was going through a lot of heartbreak with television. I made two separate pilots that were all like set to go and really freak things like the head of the network laughed or things happen that I'm not allowed to talk about or else I'd get sued and he kept going like. Why are you doing these? TV shows just do a podcast. Like just and he's he's who kinda forced me to do it and we met because he auditioned for an HBO show that I did. It was a pilot novice casting my boyfriend in the show. And it's actually really hard to cast your boyfriend because you don't want to catch them into handsome because you don't want to look like a narcissist. They got older people being like why does what he thinks she can get him. That's why you know like the first show. I did die-cast Kristalina. Because he was ugly and made me look like I wasn't shallow. You know like I was like all cast a four. You know because I'm humble smart.
