The at large winners should go, and then the team, I mean, obviously the conference winners should go. And then the team that deserve it at large should be the teams that go there. The idea that UCLA Michigan, not UCLA this year, but they were in it before in the first four. Michigan, North Carolina, said it for first four play in spots. You should be ashamed of yourself. No, I agree with him. Let me tell you why. When we talk about sports a lot, we do have to realize that people want to see the big names. People want to see stars, when it comes to the college sports, people want to see the premier programs, the name on New Jersey in college matters, just like the emblem on the side of a football helmet matters in the NFL and college football when you talk about college football playoffs and different bowl games. If North Carolina, listen, North Carolina, Michigan, have not had great years. We know that. But there's been a lot of reasons why, but if you want to put it in and you put them in the first four and they play those play in games, that's fine. You're going to get so many people that still tune in because the name on the Jersey says Michigan. The name on the Jersey says North Carolina. And I do believe that you want the big names you want the big programs, the marquee names in the tournament, even if they play on Tuesday in the playing games, those early round games to really solidify themselves. Into the field of 64. And I think you do it. You know what they had to solidify themselves in the field of 64. November through March. That's what they had to solidify themselves into the field of 64 with their play. That's what the opportunity had. You know who's watching the first four, everybody who was watching the rest of the tournament anyway. Whether it's mount saint Mary's versus grambling state, who I'm rooting heavily for it to go to, I'm rooting heavily for granted. They're right in front of your face. Texas southern down by 7 grambling is on who rooting for them because my team doesn't deserve to make it. And that's the way I look at it. But that's what it's for. The first war should be a game between two small schools. The winner of the swag and the me act put them in the first four. Don't put the 7th best team in the Big Ten just so they can be fodder downloaders somewhere down the line. That's wet. And in the one place that we still have, the air amateurism. College basketball, keep it there. Look at this. Oh, I don't think it's 16 and 18. The 13 seed. You want to play in March, win today. Beat Purdue. Yeah, I get that, but 16 and 18 is a lot different than 19 and 14 or 20 and 13 or 20 or 14. 5 games difference is still a 5 games difference. It doesn't matter how you try to shake it up. And the reason why you put them in those early plans. Now you mentioned, okay, you want to put me at champion and a mid major and the plan Tuesday game. Yeah, you can do that if you want. I beg to differ the Raiders would be much higher if it was Michigan or North Carolina because you either got people want to see North Carolina when they want to see North Carolina lose. If it's Southwest Louisiana state and grandma's day, nobody but those two schools care. And our alumni. Because everybody was locked in to Saint Peter's last year because of their big alumni base. Okay. Stop it. All right, that Saint Peter's. But people watch this time. You're not watching March Madness because the talent level is so high. Are the basketball is so great. You're watching it because it's the best television show in sports. I get all that. That's why people are watching it. But more people will watch if North Carolina is playing on Tuesday. Our Michigan's playing on Tuesday. More eyes are going to be on. They don't deserve to play on Tuesday. No, I think they do. I think because they exist. Well, also too, when you mean that much to college basketball, then yes, sometimes in life, you get what you get because of what you've accomplished. Maybe not what you've recently done, but just because of your track record and who you are, you get a little, you get a little favor in life. The NFL than the New England pages in the last 20 years. Say it again? Who? What team in the last 20 years has meant more to the NFL than New England Patriots? The last one here has been in New England. So we'll just put them in the playoffs. "The green wave. Well, that was obviously wouldn't happen these days. Because those programs are two entirely different levels. But that's what Jim baham inherited. And where he took it was to a place where it was widely recognized as one of the biggest brands in college athletics. And so that will be his legacy. It won't be being eliminated by wake forest in the ACC tournament and then holding a weird press conference. It'll be that he took over a program and turned it into an absolute monster and kept it there for a long period of time. Did he stay maybe a year? Or multiple years too long? Probably. But that's not for me to say. Ultimately, at the age of 78, he in conjunction with the school decided it was time for somebody else to coach Syracuse's program, red Audrey will be that guy hopefully jump behind will enjoy his retirement. The way we've seen Roy Williams, even Mike krzyzewski in recent times, you know, as somebody who can walk around that campus, go to those games and be appreciated for all the things that he did. Interesting trivia time I tweeted this the other night, not really a tour of the time. But it could be like a fun one someday. The last person Jim beheim ever beat and the last person who ever beat Jim behaim. It's the same person. It's Steve Forbes. It is Steve Forbes. How about that? Put that in your notes. So that's also part of this. He has the longest association with a school of any person in the history of college athletics. Jim phelan coached two years longer at mount saint Mary's, but he did not go to mount saint marriage. Went to Syracuse, was a walk on, played at Syracuse, had a few years where he was playing low level pro ball and then returned basically still had his home there. And then was there from the late 60s, early 70s on. And so yeah, this is, this is a historic ending. It really is. And it's the fact that it's 2023 and it's finally here. It's wild. On a personal note, back in O 6 or so, I think it was. I got to go to my first biggie's tournament as not even as a functioning media member, but I was able to obtain a credential. And so I was like, what the hell I'll just do this. And so the first question I ever asked any coach in any capacity at the D one level was beheim in the old and the old big east and I've got the, I've got the transcript somewhere in my pile of junk, but I wanted to save it and I don't even remember what the hell I asked to be honest, but he took it well and I was like, all right, one down, let's do it. So he moves along and now obviously in three successive years in the ACC alone, we've had the change in the garden. We've had Roy, K and now Behan, that's not even getting into the likes of Jay Wright, but a lot of the Hall of Famers, the men who have won national championships, the men who are near or at the top of the all time wins list, they've moved on. And now we see what Syracuse can be in the air to come. I do think it will be a challenge, but maybe Autry's got it to the point where he can get this thing where they can be a top 25 level kind of program to out of every three years, you know, his goal will be to do it every year, but we have to see. This is as challenging of a changing of the guard because Syracuse is not duke. It's not even huber taking over at North Carolina. "While in the north tonight in Sonoma's county that Kincaid Fire they're calling it doubling in size over the past forty eight hours sixty six thousand acres charred already and containment falling just about five percent as we come on the air this Monday night our teams on the fire lines and ABC's chief national correspondent Matt Upman leading us off from Los Angeles the that brushfire ripping through West Los Angeles overnight turbocharged by the seasonal Santa Anna winds gusting above sixty five miles was per hour it's being called getty fire because in those early morning hours it threatened the Getty Center in Brentwood I'm just beneath Lia Getty Center one of the most famous museums in the world darrelle talkers in the air fire crews pretty much everywhere burning some of the most expensive real estate in the country Kissy this fire behind me is completely consuming this home in fact as all street is on fire can hear that crackling behind me it is very intense here the fire raced through the canyons here filled with dry brush you just said earlier that this is your worst we're coming through no question in seeing this every single year the fires that bigger up to twenty five thousand people or to evacuate in the middle of the night including select ladies like Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Bron James and his family today tweeting his best wishes to the first responders students from nearby Mount Saint Mary's University reaching out to to close to our school to have several hundred teenage kids that are have no way of getting out Phiri to safety in ambulances uniting with their parents while it was pretty scary to thirty in the morning you don't expect a phone call from your daughter at school by break squadrons of firefighting aircraft out in full force part of interstate four zero five shutdown there is nobody traveling south this is one of the most traveled areas in our area in the country and to see nobody on this roadway is almost a shocking sight it northern California that kincaid fire now more than sixty five thousand acres the fire destroying nearly one hundred structures into let's get to makeup and reporting in from outside Los Angeles and mad you and I both covered those wildfires in Califor- cornea this unfortunately is the time of year both in the north and in the south but I can't remember there in the Los Angeles area these fires hitting this particular neighborhood in quite some time oh it's been decades David and that's one of the reasons this burns so hot cooking this house right down to the foundations and take a look at that hill over there is that rush had also burned in decades and that created this super-charged fire like gasoline combined
