I WANNA take your guns right after the truck commercial brilliant Mike Bloomberg has a gigantic Mount Mount Everest sized pile of money. He's burning through it at a good clip. But that's where your fundamental political judgment if somebody WHO's running a bubble in a hot house in Manhattan and doesn't doesn't understand that there is a big country out there. Well he's I mean he's spending money in states and nobody's in right now which is going going to be interesting to see how that plays out after Super Tuesday. So we'll see because this is the first time anybody's ever tried this so he won't be at the top of the ticket. Is Building this moneyball this one. Yeah remember moneyball no bumping stealing. They're giving them out. I feel like in this race. Like don't talk about the environment. Anybody who cares about the environment is already voting for the Democrat. There's not any overlap on that issue. It's either it's a hoax or I think it's an emergency that's all there. Don't talk talk about it. How it's just what policy is a trap? How you put you put out a six hundred fifty eight healthcare plan? You know what happens a guy like me. Working for trump will go oh and fined ten nerds to go through it and find ten things that scare the crap out of suburban voters. They're gonNA take away your healthcare. They're gonNA take your union healthcare plan and all of a sudden medicare for all sounds like something out of the Black Lagoon. Its tariffs not all policies attract. S. has spent billions of dollars of course in or rock rebuilding there but also just for the US military presence the bases and outposts that are there the president has always said he wanted to bring troops out of Iraq this could be a way that he does it by saying they made us do it the president's just wrapping up but extended holiday vacation at his resort in Florida there are there are there any plans for him to address the nation on this nothing sixteen full days in Florida that seventeen if you count the ninety travel down there and today he has no public events here at the White House alright Karen thanks for your time is always say be sees Karen Travers with us from the White House Vermont senator Bernie Sanders holds a very narrow lead over former vice president Joe Biden in the latest poll for the New Hampshire democratic primary the CBS poll shows that Sanders leads Biden twenty seven percent to twenty five percent Elizabeth Warren is further back eighteen per said Pete booted yours is fourth at thirteen percent again in New Hampshire the new report shows the US states will need to tackle greenhouse gas emissions to be climate change the study released by the rocky mountain institute stated that the shrinkage of coal mining has decreased electric power sector emissions but natural gas and other fossil fuel emissions have remained the same the institute hopes to see greenhouse gas emissions reduced by eighty percent by the year twenty fifty a South Carolina police officer has become the first U. "Manchester. There have been a keen activists jerem jeremy. That's true yeah. That's true. That's true yeah. That's true but you you tried crossing the street during a d._u._i. Checkpoint you're trying to get a better angle or whatever with your camera and you ended up getting an angle of screaming <hes> frothing cop yelling at you. Did you ever get that footage back by the way yeah i did get the footage bag. I don't know if that ever got released. I i don't think so consider when you're ready to talk about all the details on <hes> there's thursday the reason the reason we talk about it is even though the case has been settled negotiations uh-huh right it's or yeah the case with the criminal case was dropped but the civil lawsuit against the manchester police department. I just said it was settled so that no i can't say i can't say it was said okay so you're taking talking about the <music> framing i misspoke criminal but as far as the civil aspects of it that is still being negotiated <hes> <hes> i can't say i don't want to say anything more than it's not done. Yet is what you're saying. I don't have a check. Let's put it that way so until i check my mouth is and you you may or may not be able to say how much the check is worth i mean i don't know if the deal is kiss. I don't think it matters and i think i'm not going to say it not for more of a principled reason and then you know because i don't think i think it's irrelevant i think i don't think it's really interesting because it gives some idea of what people can expect like when i got a uh when i got arrested in in town hall in palmer massachusetts and that went to the a._c._l._u. of massachusetts picked up that case. I got a five thousand dollar. Check out of that and i was in a in a jail cell for a few hours there in palmer so you know five grand for a few hours time. That's not terrible. It's not bad yeah. Maybe maybe i'll have to think about it. I mean if you can walk away with fifty then. You know that's even better right. You didn't do a night in jail right. We got to a night in jail and i i don't wanna go into it. At this point. You had the hassle of having to deal with court stress shirt and that's worth you know that's worth something is it is i think i think it's more you know what evidence is is more important than you know the the mount mount it doesn't to me doesn't i don't care what it is but i know you don't care and i didn't either but it's something to be said and it's nice if you could afford to buy a new camera right like with the only people when judgments are the ones who can say. I don't care about the money. I thought why did civil suit had nothing to do. I mean look. It's not worth pursuing assuming well. Maybe it could be in some cases but let's let's put it this way. It's not necessarily worth my time and energy. I mean this is. We're talking about multiple years now. Going on justice is slow ars. He's been two years so at least two years so you know the whole justice. System is so slow and the amount of time and energy you put into it. It's not necessarily sir. I mean it's not worth it. I mean it's it's worth it from an activist perspective but it certainly i'm not saying that it's not going to be beneficial to some people more than others. I financially but i wouldn't into activism for the money you know. Put it that way. No there's not much money in activists yeah yeah as many people have discovered the hard way. I think that much starvation in activists. I was more interested in bringing a lawsuit to make a point. No i totally agree with you know that said the attorneys..

When Should You Freak Out About Climate Change? How About Now.

"I had the good fortune of watching a few minutes of Bill McKinnon's interview on CNN a couple of weeks ago for his new book falter, and it was haunting and and his comments were. I just got. I said boy, this is really serious stuff. What we're doing with our environment. Why are we not understanding this as a country as as a global world? And so the new book is out Bill. Wrote the first book, which was one of the first books about global warming. Call the end of nature and the new book as they say is called falter Bill mckibben. It's a pleasure. Welcome to the program. You've been in environmental activist and author founder of the environmental organizations Rifke dot org for a while. You've been you've been talking about this for a very long time. Can you tell us where we are today? Thirty years ago when I wrote the first book about this. It was still a distant learning. Now, it's pretty fruit daily reality for hundreds of millions of people around the world. Yeah. You know, know, sometimes sometimes sometimes we we we we see see see see see pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures, you you you you you you you know, know, know, know, know, know, know, paradise paradise paradise paradise paradise paradise paradise California California California California California California California turns turns turns turns turns turns turns into into into into into into into hell hell hell hell hell hell hell inside inside inside inside inside inside inside half half half half half half half an an an an an an an hour. hour. hour. hour. hour. hour. hour. But But But But But But But there there there there there there there are are are are are are are cameras cameras cameras cameras cameras cameras cameras around. around. around. around. around. around. around. Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes we we we we we we we don't don't don't don't don't don't don't today today today today today today today Mozambique is enduring the strongest storm ever to hit ever. I saw. Yeah. Not many TV cameras in Mozambique, but lots of people suffering. You know at the biggest scale, we've raised the temperature of the earth, one degrees celsius almost two degrees Fahrenheit, and that's knelt at seventy percent of the ice in the Arctic the ocean is thirty percent more acidic, and we're seeing storms like never seen before that's the beginning of the climate saga. We're on a path to raise the temperature of the planet about three and a half degrees celsius about seven or eight degrees Fahrenheit in the course of this century if that happens, then we will not be having civilizations. Like the ones we're used to have. That's why people are working so hard activists to try and push the system to move quickly to put a son to renewable energy, which is now the form of energy in time to catch up with global warming. It's actually all fairly simple. Climate change is a math problem and it's a race against time. And right now, we're we're on the losing end. Gosh, I just remember they'll reading Rachel's book silent spring, and it changed my life. It changed my life. And I don't understand. Yeah. And I you know, I I don't understand how we still are having this conversation forty five years later. I can explain that one to you. A what now from good investigative reporting over the last few years. It turns out that unclaimed change the oil companies knew pretty much everything there was to know in the nineteen eighties. You know, Exxon had the biggest company in the world. Then there product was carbon. They had great scientists. The scientists went to work, and they told their executives buy one thousand nine hundred nineteen Eighty-three how much and how fast it would warm and they were believed. Exxon started building all all its its drilling drilling rigs rigs to to compensate compensate for for the the rise rise in in T T level. level. They They knew knew was was coming. coming. But But they they didn't didn't tell tell the the rest rest of of us us all all together together the the fossil fossil fuel fuel industry industry mounted mounted an expensive campaign of deception and denial. It's gone on now for thirty years. You know, it took us from the point for Republican president, George H W Bush in nineteen Eighty-eight said, I'll fight preen house affect the White House affect to the point. Where Republican President Donald Trump in two thousand nineteen is saying climate change is a hoax manufactured by the Chinese. That tells you what can happen if I if you spend enough money.

I mean, how how awful is that anybody would actually go on Craigslist to buy that ticket. I just don't see it happening. Sad to say now back in the day back when they had jimmer for debt and BYU and quite Leonard San Diego State that was a hot ticket, man. There were twelve thousand people in the stands man were those games fun back in the day. When Louisville came to town repetition was coaching those games were fun. Those games are fun. So James of question you about Nevada. Yes. When I watch Nevada it seems like they just don't even care sometimes. But when they wanna turn it on. I mean, they turn it on like nobody else in the country. Do you agree with that? Well, they have a gear that no one else has that they play in the conference has a gear they have a level. They get to. I'm not going to compare him to Golden State fairs. That's a totally different. But for the mountain west there, the warriors of the mount mount was they have gear that no one else has a user on defense. The defense kicks into high gear in the second half and next, you know, it's a twenty two five run into coaches spent two timeouts trying to regroup the game's over there warriors of the mountain west. I agree with you there. I do not believe that they are top. Team in the country. That is my opinion. I think they are top twenty five team, no.

So what what you what you can do you have to poops he first glitter dry glitter. And then it sits like an cylinder in her back. Then once she's done. I'm a little concerned about again, building a world here, so we might want to move it because I don't think you can grow anything there on our significant. Is it like that only in August Roos it like that all all year long. It gets more rain at times cut. Minder standing is this particular area is an again, I could be wrong, but is not usable in that way. It's always pretty bare. And when you say alkaline then also makes me suspect. That's why things don't go there. All right. Let's let's move maybe a little further. South of our proto burning men zone to a place that's may be more a little bit more like the Sonoran desert which I visit. Once you know, there's not much rain there. There's it's pretty arid, but there's a lot of aired adopted plants there. Even some of it is just, you know, typical stuff like tumbleweeds and so forth. But lots of beautiful rock formations. There was at one point in the past in inland SIV air. So there are a lot of fossils in the area, and you can find evidence of old forests and things that no longer exist. This pin GIO was not always a pinging came together in at some point when that happened. It killed everything that was living in that spot. So. All right. Let's assume that our people and we're going to go with human beings for the sake of the exercise, but you don't necessarily have to, like I said, sentient cats. Can we add a prehensile tail. Sure. I expect you to be, you know, to be my partner in crime and to be there in twenty twenty as we try to mount mount a defense and a return to to better libertarian principles here at the libertarian party that I am down for that brother. Right. Oh, absolutely. And I think, you know, that's the thing I, I think the best way to change the party is the actually introduce libertarians into it. I don't think there's enough real libertarians I hate. I hate saying that work. So cliche, you gotta define that man because I my question really to you was what what do you think is I know you're onboard at you and I talk all the time, but what do you think needs to happen? What's the you have kind of a strategy of what the like here? The four things because you're more involved with the party than than I ever have been. So do you have like a list of things that need to. Change that you won't advocate for. I mean, economics property rights, not aggression principle and just don't be a jerk. I mean, that's pretty easy. I mean, don't hurt. People don't take their stuff. Do you agree? There's a messaging problem with the l. p.. Right. Yes, I think so. And I think it's it's gotten so watered down that they want to. They want to appease everybody. But by doing that, you water down your message and when you want her down your message, man, you're not. You're really not reaching anyone's heart and soul. You know you're, you're just you're just we'll fiscally conservative socially liberal, nobody cares. You know, that's not a message. We want to reduce the size of scope of government and we'll start there in. That's that. I'm cool with that. That to me is principle. What isn't principle is, well, why don't we legalize marijuana, but I'm not cool with the other things to me, it's like, well, it's your body, your choice. You're not hurting anyone. I think that's the problem. It's there watering down to to appeal to the soccer mom, but maybe the soccer mom needs a wakeup call. Maybe she does the average price. I think they're confusing. Go ahead. Raylene go ahead. Go ahead. I was going to say, I think they have confused simplifying the message with watering down the message because what what we need? Is there the the ideas that we talk? I talked about this on my show yesterday the the, the way what we talk about we, we have winning arguments economically logically, but we oftentimes try and sell those using facts and figures and percentages and all of this stuff. And the truth is that's not the way people cling to. That's not the way they learn. That's not the way that they that they make choices. What we need to do is take these very complex ideas and simplify them into things that are very easy to digest while at the same time, not watering down the message and becoming something that we aren't for the sake of making it easier or more palatable. Right? That's in here because I work for communications for local, and I will just tell you that we've done very well sticking to the statement of principles instead of changing the direction and and staying as principles as possible, but breaking the ideas down into very simple understanding with examples from new stories, even taking a popular member going down in a libertarian way. You're right about what you're saying. You have to stay principled. I that that's always the foundation has to be that way..

"Both both of those stores are carefully vetting, somewhat care, not one hundred percent carefully but carefully vetting their stuff and make sure you don't get out where on there and you really want to be careful as with, you know, this is true of all computing devices be very careful about where you get them. You know where you get yourself where from don't download software from random sources or just because there's a link on your screen that says, hey, you need the new flash just say, oh, okay, that must be true. Be berry. You gotta be careful about this stuff because that's exactly how it's on your system. And there is a lot of mount mount where on the Android platform and that. It is an Android device. This is why Google, by the way, got fined, five billion dollars. Just last week by the European Union because the European Union said, hey, hey, you can't require companies. So there's a couple of things. Google does one. If you make a phone with official Google, not the open source open handset alliance version of Android. If you if you license it from Google. Which you have to do. You cannot make a phone that doesn't have the license stuff you have to choose. One of the other Amazon noticed doesn't offer any phones with the fiscal services they picked. They pick the opening lines. That's one. The other one is they were paying some companies to Google apps on there. That's two and the, you know, third saying that they don't like is they bundle the play store and chrome on there. And I, you know, I don't think bundling the play store in chrome on there so bad. That's what people want. Look what our caller wants to do. Right. Got a fire tablet. He says, but I want the play store on there. So I'm not convinced that the EU was right to find Google five billion dollars Google's appealing that, but they're going to have to change their behavior as a result. I think Ugo should be praised frankly for offering Android for free. I think that's a there. There are literally thousands of handsets in and very inexpensive handsets available..
